You ever think about how wild of a time Hades is having in SOH? This man learns his wife went and made him a sword, she then proceeded to lose the sword, she kidnapped his son and his nephew and his niece, his nephew almost died on this quest and Hades can almost hear Poseidon yelling about this, this kid somehow memory wiped a Titan but all three of the kids are suspiciously silent about just how he managed to pull this off and also they won’t explain how they crossed the Lethe because Hades knows the geography of his domain and he knows from their description that they would’ve had to cross it at some point but somehow all three turn deaf when asked, and this memory-wiped Titan who thinks his name is Bob and who Hades can distinctly recall trying to murder him and his siblings on behalf of their father who ate them is now Hades’s problem. Before Hades can say so much as a syllable about how actually, if you memory wipe the Titan then the Titan is your problem, all three leave. This all happens within like 5 minutes.
Hades is the embodiment of the mental math meme. This guy had three powerhouses of kids (one of which is his!) show up, drop all this on him, then just dip before he can really give his stance on it all- and to top it all off he's pretty sure his son stole money to buy burgers.
He's having a difficult five minutes for sure.

I feel like rick missed an opportunity when he made Frank closer to Percy's age instead of Hazel's. Like, I'm sure there are reasons (It's been a while since I read HoO, so I can't say what they are, but they're probably there(I hope)), but can you imagine Percy, on a quest with two kids that are 13-14 (I can't remember how old she is in SoN, can't find it either, so guessing low it is).
Even without his memories, he'd be halfway to feral, but once he got them back, I can't see him doing anything but going from protective to absolutely destroying anything that hurt them.
I also think it would have been hilarious to have Percy and Annabeth at like, 17-ish? And have the rest of the seven at like, 14 max. Percy and Annabeth are trying to keep this group of 13-14 year olds alive, and they're both screaming internally half the time. Sometimes, it's just screaming, but sometimes, they scream about how toddlers shouldn't be on quests.
(Side note this popped into my head while I was writing, so have a- thing
Annabeth: There's a bunch of babies, Loose on a quest! No one knows what the babies are going to do next, least of all the babies! They've never been on a quest before!
Narrator: The babies in question are 14, and they have, in fact, been on quests before. (She is right about them not knowing what they're going to do, though.))
Then again, maybe I just like big brother/protector Percy too much. (Reluctant and screaming big sister/mentor figure Annabeth is also fun.)
(And on a sadder note, Annabeth realizes this must be what Luke and Thalia felt like and almost starts crying.)
To start, you're absolutely right that it was a missed opportunity. Percy is, without knowing it, the most experienced of the questers, except Frank is nearly his age in comparison to Hazel (who should be 14 by math, but is 13 by Rick's declaration). I think it's less that he made Frank closer to Percy's age and more that he was trying to make Hazel younger than Nico.
But yes, it would've been super interesting to see him basically mentoring the other two, especially after he regained his memories. I feel it was a major missed opportunity to not have Percy and Annabeth trying to watch over the younger quest members, instead he aimed for weakening the two to make everyone else their equal. It's a shame cause it missed the opportunity for the younger questers to be major boons for their skills, rather than raw power.
And also, the two of them looking after younger ones and wanting to protect them but also having to risk their lives to save the world- and the rest being alone when Percabeth falls with Nico to help except half of them find him freaky- would've allowed them to grow into their own more.
It would also show how Percy and Annabeth really ARE the most experienced, how their quests haven't been the norm so even Jason who is remembering some quests hasn't done anything this insane before but Percabeth just takes it all in stride.

Does anybody else find it kinda fucked up how Rick said that the Romans knew there had been Greek demigods at one point and that the reason they thought there weren't anymore is because they thought Rome "Perfected" the gods? Like, sir what the fuck?
So true- it's such a mess like that is literally not how it worked the Romans were an entirely different religion and set of beliefs- they just associated with and "borrowed" from the Greeks a whole lot. It's both fucked up and a gross misunderstanding of how that worked.

So... I had.. a Thought.
I know Camp half-blood isn't really like a military (even if it does essentially train child soldiers (still better than Camp Jupiter)), but it kinda was one during the wars, right?
I saw a post with a line from.. botl? I think.
Anyway, it was about Khiron telling Percy not to go out and fight until part of the way through the battle so they could send him where they were having the most trouble, and-
Percy really is chb equivalent of a strike team. At least during the titan war.
Like, I know it because he's supposed to be like the big hero of the prophecy and everything, but if chb was like 5 degrees more militant, he would have straight up been like a one man strike team, wouldn't he?
Or have I read this wrong. (Entirely possible, my mother has been watching war movies for the past 2 weeks, and my brain is the world's most stressed carousel of scavenged material on a good day.)
He really is, especially with Annabeth.
He was the Big Player that they held back until they needed back up, because he is strong enough to act as that back up and it's best to hold him back until he's really needed so he isn't tired from fighting early on.
He and Annabeth held back in book five as well, becoming a two man strike team who kicked ass when they went into battle. Percy singlehandedly ended that battle after Annabeth was hurt too.
So yeah, he would be a strike team (probably with Annabeth) for sure.

Demigods aren’t allowed to have phones because Percy and Clarisse would be calling each other daily to send monsters after each other. This is how they show affection, and sometimes they text each other to say that they need a spar, help send some monsters. Clarisse says that she needs Percy to stay on the line a bit longer so they can locate her and Percy, munching on some blue candy while supervising the kiddos doing canoe races, says sure thing. They chat about Percy’s upcoming history test as they wait for monsters to locate Clarisse. She texts back after the fight to see if Percy and some of their other friends want burgers later
She brings back burgers and throws Percy's at his face, can't have people think they like each other! He catches it of course though.

Nico: Percy would’ve rejected me because I’m straight
Also Nico: much younger than Percy, made a pretty bad first impression (those questions after Annabeth fell, oof) and then Percy spent like a year thinking Nico despised him
Like, Nico, sweetheart, odds are Percy still views you as a kid. That’s just a thing in life, you view those who are a bit younger than you as kids.
Yeah sorry Percy 100% views Nico as that kid he promised to protect. He does not view Nico as a romantic interest in the slightest and it has nothing to do with his sexual orientation lmao.
(I think you mean he's straight though lol- though obv he's bi smh)

I know it's probably unrealistic, but my favorite idea for a career for Percy as an adult is him being a teacher.
Like specifically for like somewhere in between Kindergarten and maybe 3rd/4th grade-ish. I just love the idea of him deciding he wants to try and help kids like him get a good foundation, help them learn how to cope with any learning disorders or other complications before they get older and start flailing without someone to help.
And if sometimes Percy just so happens to keep getting distracted and buy too many schools supplies for his and Annabeth's kids or makes an extra lunch accidentally, well, it's no trouble for him to give the extra supplies to a student who never seems to have notebooks or pencils, and it be a waste to throw out that extra lunch, he'll just give it to the student he noticed hasn't brought or bought lunch for a few days.
And of course, all the kids know Mr. Jackson has treats and cool pencils and erasers in his desk, and all you have to do is answer a small trivia question to get one. (The questions are always easy, and if you have to try a couple of questions to get it right, he'll always wait until you do.)
(I know it's not super realistic, but I remember going to school during the years my family was having trouble with money, and I remember the teachers that did tiny things and how much those things meant at the time (Especially the ones who never made it feel like charity. (Nothing embarrasses you quite like needing help and having someone rub the fact you need help in your face (even if it's not on purpose))). I like to think that Percy would remember that, too.)
I like that idea! It's a pretty fun one <3

Yeah, Octavian’s anger post-MOA is really valid, because to the Romans, these people showed up with claims of peace and then bombed their city, targeting not just fighters but civilians too. I also would despise them and wouldn’t be willing to listen to what they say (also? Octavian is right to bring ear plugs to counter Piper, to the Romans she’s a girl who can take away their free will and part of the group that attacked their home. Who knows what she could say to them, what if she makes them go back and attack New Rome even more? She’s very much an active threat in the eyes of the Roman demigods). There’s no actual evidence the 7 could offer up to prove it wasn’t actually Leo in charge, it’s not like possession leaves a trace nor can they display their memories to prove it.
She literally planned to use her charmspeak against New Rome from the start (Bad for Relations) and actively used it against Octavian specifically cause she found him annoying. Like- yeah, no surprise he took steps to prevent that from happening again.
And yeah, like- as far as Octavian is concerned he was literally THERE when Leo starts bombing New Rome. Maybe he'll accept that the others didn't intend to, but them running instead of surrendering and talking out what happened doesn't look good. Especially because they proceed to break more laws.
Now, I do think Rick wrote him absolutely insane, but like- him not trusting them? Tracking them down? Trying to capture them? Valid.

Crack AU where Percy still heals in the river but Poseidon pointedly pretends that’s not his kid. He claims Percy is the child of some other water deity and when anyone says Percy looks exactly like Poseidon, Poseidon says that’s preposterous. For humor reasons, Poseidon has informed Percy at some point that this is all so nobody thinks Percy is a Big Three kid and thus potential prophecy candidate, but Poseidon is over here lying to everyone about Percy’s parentage. Maybe Okeanus claims him and Poseidon is really mad about Okeanus’s audacity in stealing his child, but Poseidon can’t do jack about it yet.
Zeus: HA! That's your kid!!!
Poseidon: nope, never seen him before in my life
Apollo watching wide eyed eating popcorn: yeah?
Poseidon: yep

Percy Jackson is considered the most beautiful woman of all since the time of Helen of Troy.
And she doesn't know about it.
She's literally soooo pretty and everyone is falling over themselves for her and she's just like "ooh, shiny rock-"
Does not notice, how could she notice? She's a kid with a long history of school trouble. As far as she's concerned she's average at best, loser at worst.

I just had a dream where thalia and nico both got the curse of achilles with percy (like all three of them jumped in at once), and i have no idea how that would work, but all i can think is that that would be a terrifically badass au.
Also, in the dream, when he found out what had happened zeus just started like full out sobbing on the floor and i woke myself up laughing so that was fun
*snorts* the three of them showing up with the Curse of Achilles and just demolishing armies together and the whole of the Gods just staring in horror would be <3

how do you feel about Show Luke(dont hold back>:))
Show Luke is... So soft. Like he doesn't feel the same level of bitter as the books. He looks soft too, not jaded and rough.
He's also??? Like really bad at guiding Percy through the camp activities?
I discussed it in the discord but Percys form was literally all wrong, and no one corrected him just shamed him when his arrow went wild. Like obviously he doesn't know how to shoot a bow, he's never TOUCHED one before! (I do not consider this Percy unnaturally bad with a bow, I consider him untaught)
And @thetruecthulhu9 brought it up but the hammer used in the brief forge scene? Literally the wrong kind of hammer entirely.
So it's just like- they're not actually teaching him, then are surprised when he fails. In the books, while it wasn't outright stated, we did see Luke teach Percy to sword fight so there's an implication that they tried to teach him.
And like??? We don't learn about his history, not the hints of the books or something new from the show. We don't see him interact with Annabeth beyond like 2 seconds. We don't see- so much that we did in the books.
This Luke doesn't even sic a hellhound on Percy like??? What's the point???

Percy’s getting ready to square up against Persephone, and Thalia and Nico are all “Nothing to see here, totally normal conversation.” The moment all three of them are together, they share one brain cell, and that brain cell is advocating chaos
They are all incredible clever and cunning apart, but the moment they're together they just radiate "chaos and dumbassery" energy. Thalia and Nico bet that Percy can't make a whirlpool in the underworld rivers and he drowns Charon's ship for a bit.

You think Rachel ever gives minor prophecies around her mortal friends? Like they'll be having a chill convo and suddenly she'll sit up ramrod, and emit fog like "your chattel shall be sized for the sins of the father by those you call friend" and then a week later one of them rocks up and goes "so turns out my parents were doing major tax fraud and bribing state officials and the IRS took our house so u might not see me for a while :/"
I imagine thanks to the whole mist thing hides the fog but yeah she probably sometimes just says wild shit if they ask the wrong question lol.
