In my hc future au, Andy learns how to be a Builder and along with Qi develops technology to contact Space humans... who crash land in the Free Cities kickstarting the next installment where Duvos and the Free Cities are both trying to win over this new faction as tensions build- There could be actual exploration of Duvos civilians perspectives. We could have interactions with characters who are just as unfamiliar with the lore/used to "age of corruption" technology who butt heads with church of light missionaries.

The truth (part three)
uhhhhh, hey there! I’m alive? :D
I also thinkI might change the style with making a part per region, since characters are getting added to regions retroactively and i dont wanna go and edit every region. mayhaps I’ll just do it in version installments from now on? like, with the newest characters or smth
Anyways, enjoy!
Sumeru
once again, starting with the characters who would know who you really are: Alhaitham, Aranara, Nahida, Wanderer
Of course as the archon of knowledge, Nahida would instantly know who you are! She would definitely be the one to catch on the fastest and luckily for you, since she has experience with being confined in a place for too long, she won’t tell on you! Though she’ll try to not leave you alone in these dangerous lands, either accompanying you herself or checking in through others’ minds.
Through his brief time as almost god, Wanderer will recognise that something is off with you, in a probably-is-a-god-style, almost right away. If you slip up and mention anything from his past he’ll be even more suspicious, after all those memories should be long gone, right?
Alhaitham knows. I am not sure how, he just does. He is just built different ig. But jokes aside, he is very observant and smart enough to connect the dots. Might try to ignore you, since he doesn’t want to deal with the situation, as well as his newly acquired duty as ‘acting’ grand sage
the ones that are suspicious of who your are: Cyno, Dehya, Tighnari
Both Cyno and Tighnari will both share their suspicions, but they have duties that usually don’t involve you too much. Cyno needs to hunt criminals (which you aren’t) and Tighnari is bound to his forest. Unless you’re unlucky enough to encounter criminals or eat the wrong mushroom, there is very little chance for them to find any incriminating evidence.
Dehya is a seasoned bodyguard, where she has a lot of practice reading people and her surroundings. She’ll get weird vibes from you, as if you’re constantly hiding something, but won’t push too much if she doesn’t see you as a threat.
those who are too naive to question the identity of the creator: Collei, Dunyarzad, Faruzan, Nilou
Collei, Dunyarzad and Nilou all are too optimistic to think they have been lied to about the creators identity. All three have also been through quite a lot, Collei and Dunyarzad with their Eleazar affliction, and Nilou with her struggle against the academia. They’re still very kind though, so they might be fun to be around without having to worry about revealing clues to who you are.
lastly, the ones who don’t care, or don’t seem religious: Candace, Dori, Jeht, Layla
Both Candace and Jeht are children of the desert, which can be a hard place to live in. While they don’t not believe in the creator, they have a lot of responsibilities to take care of, leaving little time to worship a god who has not helped them with their struggles of survival. They’re more likely to judge you for traveling the dangerous sands, especially if you are alone and not a seasoned traveler yet.
Dori might notice something off about you, but as long as you’ve got enough mora to buy goods from her store, she couldn’t care less about your identity. She’s also part of the blackmarket, where customers hiding their identity isn’t uncommon.
Layla is too tired to care most of the time. Unless you meet her nighttime persona the chances of even talking to her for long are decently low. She’s more worried about her studies and deadlines rather than a random traveler. Though you have to take care to not be too obvious when you have her attention, she is pretty smart after all.
(And another part done! I thought Dunyarzard and Jeht deserve to be here, since you spend so much time with em! and I know, I didn’t include Kaveh, but I haven’t done the recent event quest yet so idk what he’s like qwq )
(Next time will probably be mixed nationalities, including Kaveh, Mika, Baizhu, Yaoyao and maybe even Kirara! I’ll have to wait till enough characters are released for a while part tho)

I'm 50/50 towards season 3. My first thoughts after my first viewing of each episode was biased by the disappointment that they really didn't take the story anywhere near what we expecting, and now that this as faded one year later, I have less bad blood with the season. However, the more I watch it, the more holes I notice in the writing, and the disappointment turns into slight annoyance. It's not as horrible as the internet makes it look, but it's definitely not great. This season just feels silly compared to the other two, and not in a good way; silly as in chopily executed and kinda knock-off. But I still hope that it's only an off-track season meant to set plot threads more than anything, and that the next installements will be better. And I respect their attempt at trying out something new.
(Also I don't know what happened with Brendan's portrayal of mando, it was spot on in season 1 but he made Din feel so bland and generic-male-hero this season? Idk. But it irks me.)
This is a very fair and valid assessment! At least you're not less than 50 on your approval side 😭
I do think this season was up against juggernaut expectations that were just impossible to fulfill, which certainly didn't help it one bit - especially after the heavy interlude in The Book of Boba Fett. Season 2 was written long before season 1 even aired, and even Pedro Pascal himself has spoken to how freeing it was to film those first two seasons without having any expectations to meet. I think they felt the pressure of the first two seasons too much for season 3, and that could be where some of it broke down.
But, honestly, while there are things I question (why give Din the Darksaber in the first place if he did nothing with it? why make him double down on his helmet rule? etc.), overall, I find this season to be a fun and thrilling ride. I just wish I could've seen it through my own lens; I think I let the internet influence too much of my opinion after each episode drop. But that's an entirely personal take!
(As for Brendan, my best guess is that everyone was just hyper-aware of him being the main one in the suit. We didn't really know that for season 1 until afterward, and season 2, we knew it was mostly Pedro. I think that changed the way people saw Din under the armor this season. But, again, I could be wrong - that's just my personal take!)

🦋what are you most insecure about when you post a fic?
I'll level: I basically never feel insecure when I post a fic? When something is done I ride the euphoria of "task complete" to simply throw it at the internet without looking back at all. As soon as something is posted it ceases to exist in my mind. Surprised myself when I learned I had 81 things posted to ao3 today because I just don't think about what's behind me. I guess if I had to say something, it'd be formatting/grammar. Every time I post a fic with messy formatting (plays or that one chapter of Oberth Maneuver mostly) I quintuple check I got the formatting right and I'm still nervous.
🕯️was there a fic that was really hard on you to write, or took you to a place you didn't think it would take you?
Hmm. Nothing is coming to mind in a big-picture way, but I can either point to some little moments or talk about a big back-burner semi-abandoned Destiny concept LMAO.
For the first: the eye trauma, light as it was, in Broken glass is glittering like diamonds squicked me the fuck out. Why did I put eye trauma in my fic when I am a person sensitive to eye trauma? IDK. Seemed fun at the time. Worth it. Also, learning about the history of s'mores for it makes a fiery ring fucked me up. I was somehow surprised both by how old and how new they are at the same time.
On a bigger picture, I've a Destiny concept I've been playing about with for AGES now called A Coward's Guide to the End of All Things, and after nursing it for like a year or more, forget how long, me and Kangoo realized it should be a time loop and that changed everything. But digging into what A Coward's Guide is is like. a whole other ask lmao.
💌share something with us about an up-and-coming work (WIP) that has you excited!
Ha-ha I'm cheating and sharing TWO THINGS! One: the next Oberth Maneuver chapters (14-16) are where I earn my major character death and body horror tags and chapter 14 has some of my favorite interactions in the whole fic. Two: I get to introduce three (or four, depending on how you count it?) new characters and a Bunch of backstory in the next installment of Funeralverse and y'all are Not Ready. Overall it's going to be Very Exciting in my WIPs extended universe for a hot minute and I can't wait for finals and life to get out of the way so I can show them off to people.

what would u like to see for the next resy game? as in the next installment, not the next remake if they're making another remake haha. but yeah, characters? enemy types? setting?
lol I am hoping they're done with the remake train because if they seriously are thinking of remaking 5, 6 and 7 next I'm... yeah no.
it depends! if it's gonna be a new "main game" and takes place after re8, then I don't really know what I'd want. it'd be awesome to see an older Leon, maybe working together with Chris, and it'd be lovely to see Jill and Claire and the old bunch again. but I'm also very, very bummed that they just forgot all about Jake tbh. so I think I'd be most tempted by a "Jake edition". it's been over ten years. where is he now? what is he doing now? it would've been so interesting to see more of him! in re6 he already briefly struggles with who his father is, and if it defines him as a person too, and they could've done so much with that imo. so I'd absolutely love to see what's up with him now. and Sherry, tbh. but I am also always a sucker for more Leon obviously :'D
if it'd be a new Revelations-type game, then I'd want something that's set between 2010-2012! give me more Piers! I don't even care what, I just want more Piers :'D and of course if I can set my hopes super duper high (because absolutely none of my wishes will ever actually happen lmao) I'd love to have something where Leon has to work with the BSAA so we'd get some proper canon interaction between my two absolute favorites. it'd be a dream come true honestly. I could die happy :'D
also, it'd be cool to see what's up with Jill at that time because it's in her vague "rehabilitation" period that has only just been handwaved away, so. she might not be cleared onto the field but she could be somehow a part of it anyway.
i'm very, very character focused okay :'D my wishes are always to see more of my faves lol.
as for enemy types, lickers have always been my favorites so I'd like to see them again! and honestly, those ogroman-things in re6 were the most fun ever to fight, so something similar? idk I love the classics. I'd like to see a mixture of the old creatures and something new, to keep things interesting and fun.
as for settings, I don't really know. I ... am not picky? :'D I do love the re4 type of creepy village setting a lot, and the castle too tbh, and i enjoyed the mansion setting in re1 a lot too. there's something so creepy and wonderful about a place that was the home for someone but then things went spectacularly wrong. so i'd prefer something like that to a clinical laboratory type of thing, for example. but i haven't thought about this a lot so I honestly don't have a ready answer now :'D

Hello! This is your friendly inquiry to answer this ask with whatever you'd like to talk about right now! Whether that be a story you're working on, something you're excited or worried about, or just something random you happen to know.
All the love,
~ toribookworm ❤️
P.S. Ignore that I have yet to answer your very sweet return ask after my previous one. I am very appreciative, promise. 🥰
Well howdily doodily. No worries about the yet to answer, you've uh...been a little preoccupied so all good water under the bridge.
I think I'll just kind of do what I did last time and start with an idea and see where the rambling takes me.
Let me first use this as a chance to say thank you to all the people who have given me a follow, reblogged any of my things, liked, or whatever else. It really does mean a lot. I consider myself a very amatuer writer (not in a self-demeaning way) what with my exposure to writing mostly being through required english courses for my degree and roleplaying in the early aughts. So to have people not only see my stuff, but like it, is humbling. I'll keep the melodramatics low and just say once again, thank you.
Rambling right along, I also want to put this out that I may be setting up a side-blog for just my writings/other creative things. I hadn't thought when I first set this account up that I would be doing much outside of posting me things, whoops, so I want to make a place where people don't need to scroll through all of my feed to find anything. Still no idea when or what I'll call it, but uh, keep an eye out?
Related, with it being spring (at least it's suppose to be spring, I think Michigan didn't get the memo and speedran to summer...until we get snow next week that is) I'll be going on walks with my partner more often. With that also comes the joy of bringing out the old camera and snapping photos of whatever nature catches our eyes (mostly birds). So I guess maybe expect to see some of that? Idk, with the season changing and taking the depression along with it I've just been filled with a fresh drive. I'm even working up the courage to dive back into an ooooold passion of mine, something that can go hand in hand with my writing, keep an ear out?
Other than all that I'm making some more progress on my WIPs. Slow as it is. I try not to force myself to write when I'm not feeling it, sometimes that puts me right in the middle of a sentence lol. Working through some writers block and all that jazz, but hey that's what having multiple WIPs and one-offs is for (certainly not for procrastination)!
Speaking of which I'm glad to be diving back into my document style story again. Like I always knew I wanted to add more to that universe, I just didn't know how to approach a new series of events without it feeling the exact same as the one I just wrapped up, but I think I found the voice of this installment. To be frank, I was surprised by just how much fun I did have with the first installment (Cavern Chronology). It kind of breaks away from my usual style of writing; sitting down and letting the story create itself. Hopefully people enjoy this new part, either way I know I'll have a blast writing and re-reading it.
Well I'm starting to run out of "talking about myself" steam. So I'll just leave it all at that. Thanks again for reaching out and providing me with this little platform to, idk, just kind of word barf? Yeah that. I hope things are on an upward trend for you.
Some playfully pretentious words of encouragement: Even the thickest of winter's snow too will melt and nourish spring's new growth.

1 and 2 for the ask game perhaps?
Oooh, okay!!
I kind of just went off, so in the interest of space:
1. What story (stories?) are you writing rn that you’ll most likely publish next? ∩(´∀`∩)
Hopefully? One of two stories.
The one that I started earlier is my Fallout 4 fic called The Stapinski's, which is my take on a Fallout 4 Minutemen runthrough with Nate and Nora surviving. I know that traditionally in the story Nate was in the military and Nora was a lawyer, so I'm keeping that, except Nate is, like, a surgeon/doctor/medic and Nora has ASPD. It'll mostly be written in a series of snapshots, with one longer intro story and then parts of the main Fallout story that I think would be interesting/changed with these versions of Nate and Nora. However, I'm unlikely to post it until I do another runthrough of Fallout 4 which... idk when it's gonna happen, ha ha!
The second story is my Baby Driver x Fast and Furious crossover fic. There is a chronic lack of Baby Driver fics in general, but especially ones in this crossover, which is devastating. But this one fic had Brian and Debora as siblings and I really just sunk my claws into that concept and started typing away. I don't really have a solid plot, per se?? It's super self-indulgent and takes place after Baby gets out of prison and... at some point in the F&F franchise (probably after the 4th or 5th movie, there are just so many, ha ha!!)... but I'm having fun with a more Debora-centric fic and the interactions between the everyone!! (I also may or may not have stayed up reading an official handbook on classifying prisoners for this fic?? I sincerely doubt it'll affect the plot in any way, but I did and if anyone is curious, it's thought that Baby went to Georgia Diagnostic and Classification State Prison.)
Realistically? The next installment of Rewind, which as of right now is called In Every Stitch and Seam. I am technically still on break, but it wasn't meant to be an indefinite break, oops!! It's just. So Ridiculously Long. This one I am more or less sure of the direction and have a vague notion of what I want each chapter to look like, but writing it has gone... slowly. I'm still working on chapter 6 (out of possibly 21) and I want to be farther in before I start posting so that they don't have too many loose ends if I accidentally drop the ball later on. (Sorry, y'all!!)
But yeah, probably not anything soon. I'd love to keep posting, but, unfortunately for me, nothing is finished, ha ha!
2. What story (stories?) are you writing rn that will most likely linger in your head for an undetermined period of time? (*´▽`*)
Soooo many stories. I really really want to get around to posting soooo many stories that I have in my docs and my notes app and what-have-you. I really do have so many fics that I haven't posted, it's devastating. (Each one being unashamedly self-indulgent and written so many years ago definitely is not contributed to that, no, not at all.)
I'll focus on written stories instead of just story ideas... I have a few Assassin's Creed ficlets that may never see the light of day. One's, like, a Hallmark AU fic?? With light undertones of mafia?? It's soooo olddd, smhhhh. (∩∀`)/ There's also, like, a genuine songfic that I wrote forever ago. That I could absolutely be persuaded to post, but it's part of a series and the rest of the series wasn't finished and at this rate probably never will be.
This really just descended into early cringe me, but back in the day when I first started reading fanfics, I would notice the billion and one fandoms tagged in a single fic, never read them, but assume that somehow?? they were including each of them in a coherent story??? or something?? (Tbf, I think some of them were, and kudos to everyone who was able to do it, but for the most part I'm pretty sure they were just requests or something) Anyway, so lil ol' me decided to do something like that, too. And the best way I could think of this, for some reason, was to put all my fandoms, each and every one, in a single neighborhood. Each fandom had a house, everyone had a backstory, there were multiple stories detailing the history of each house and one story about my "latest" fandom moving in. I kept track of literal hundreds of characters as people in every day jobs in the town. It was insane. I still pass by it in my docs sometimes and smh. In conclusion, no, this will never see the light of day.
Okay, that was a lot, but absolutely why I made this game, so thank you so much for asking!!
Kindly,
The Void

1. what's the fic youre most proud of?
this changes very frequently, but lately i think someone to stay has sort of taken the spot of like the pinnacle of what i can write and what i like to read. not without fault of course lol but idk it feels very polished and special to me <3
2. what's a fic that took you to an emotional/dark/hard place?
well, after a certain point the paris au got very hard to write, just bc it got a little personal lol. and the subject matter in who could stay i think is hard to tackle emotionally too bc the whole thing is about grief and what we do with it.
7. how does receiving or not receiving feedback/support impact you?
i mean, getting comments and other interactions will always be more reassuring than not!! a good comment will make me open my doc and work on the next installment right away 🙈 when it's quiet it takes a little more effort to remind myself that the work is good and worth continuing. ultimately i will always write what i think is fun to write and to read but it's still a little bit of a bummer sometimes when no one seems to be responding, especially in an already small fandom.

I made a mistake and sent an ask to @phoenix-manga instead of you. Ndkdkdkdk I should have double checked who’s blog I was on. so my bad on my part >~<
So I was thinking back on Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver
And the question occurred to me: Has Soni ever entered the Pokéathlon?
And idk when or the ask of The NRC boys + staff will visit the Johto region. But what are The NRC boys + staff’s reaction?
Aw, it's alright if it's on accident. Don't worry 👍
Soni did when she visited Johto for personal reasons after her Championship (a few months in). She found the country to be pretty different from Kalos in terms of culture and social norms, but the Pokeathlon was definitely something that she joined, if only for her Pokemon.
Lukas, another one of Soni's Championship Team, and Charlie were on the same team, managing to win first place for the beginner stages. The games themselves were fun and interactive.
Ooo 👀 The NRC Boys and the Staff Visiting Johto? Reminds me of the Kalos ask a while back.
Like that ask, this is non canon because who knows what's going to happen in the next installment in the Main Story in TWST. Can't believe it's happening in a few days ☠️
Random note: I've typed Happiny so much, that whenever I write happy, I almost write out Happiny instead lasdklfajlsdjk ☠️☠️ Granted, it still means the same thing lol
I can imagine the sheer amount of stress that Soni has to go through in teaching the others about the etiquette that's established in Johto because Johto is not fond of foreigners, especially those from other regions like Unova, Galar, Kalos, and some parts of Alola.
Soni doesn't get much attention when she arrives at Johto, but the others do. They have money that Soni exchanged into Pokedollars, some more than others.
When they all get to the Pokeathlon, they get to see the tournament happening right before them.
The whole first-year crew, especially Jack, Sebek, and Epel are super into the contests focused on the competition. The brick game where you needed to chop as many bricks as possible was where they were cheering hard.
Cater was taking pictures, somewhat sad that he couldn't share them because they would've definitely gotten a whole bunch of likes online.
Leona and Ruggie were watching the whole Flag Capture Game and the Soccer game to see the different ways that Pokemon could defend the goal. It was surprisingly intense during those rounds. I can see Leona and Ruggie looking around the Trophy Room, although Ruggie got caught trying to snatch one of the trophies and got scolded by Crewel as a result.
Azul is very interested in the idea of sports drinks made for Pokemon, wondering how they boost Pokemon's skills/abilities. Like in the end of Episode 3, Octavinelle wasn't known for the sports category, so he's not really paying attention to that part. He'll do his best to snag some Apricorns, but it's rather difficult to get any of the locals to talk to him and the locations seem to be somewhat guarded by the locals as well. Floyd and Jade don't help matters in this sort of thing, especially when they scare people off with their height alone.
Kalim thinks it's fun and wants to join the activities, but needs three Pokemon total to do it. I like the idea that the NRC crew don't all have Pokemon buddies, mostly because they've only been just exposed to the idea.
Jamil isn't the same as Kalim in his enthusiasm. He's eyeing the person that has a Bug team and just goes, "Nope, not going down there." He thinks it's cool, but not really his thing.
Vil and Rook would question the athletic attire that the contestants use, although they do look around the shop to get some ideas for possible athletic wear. I can see this happening with Crewel as well with Soni getting dragged into it.
Idia and Ortho are far away from the athletic scene, so it's no surprise that Idia isn't really into Pokeathlon. Ortho thinks the games are fun and can see them being a fun mini-game of sorts.
Malleus is very tempted to join the Pokeathlon and feels a little miffed at the fact that he needs three Pokemon to join, but concedes to that point. I feel like he'd have a fun time running around with his Pokemon friends.
Lilia finds the whole thing to be wonderful. He gets snacks for the others from the stalls. I see him wearing that huge drink hat in pink and blue to match his shoes.
Silver is watching intently at the scene before him but does doze off without meaning to. Soni has to pat his shoulder a few times because he often leans on her as he begins to sleep.
The thing that doesn't surprise Soni is how excited Vargas is at the whole thing. She can already tell he's planning to try and make his own version of the Pokeathlon back in TWST. I can't really describe how hyped he is about this whole thing because the sheer amount of excitement that the crowd has for this sporting event is incredible. Not too far away is a somewhat scheming crow man that she has to stare down from her seat with a Leaning Tower of Silver over her.
Crowley had wanted Mama Monet to come to Johto, especially when the older woman could speak fluent Johtonese like her daughter. Not only that, she was from the region, so it felt fitting. However, she declined, looking more and more distressed over it the more Crowley tried to persuade her.
Crewel had to step in and pull him physically away because Soni looked like she was about to slap some sense into him.
On a side note, Deuce and Happiny were interested in the Pokemon Park that was right beside the Pokeathlon as they got to roam around for a little bit.
Jamil immediately avoided the Park because someone mentioned something about a Bug Catching Contest that takes place in the park- NOPE.
Kalim was all for it and while he couldn't enter the grass, he was super intrigued by the Pokemon Park. He talked to the locals, although they were hesitant to be social with him.
Vil would definitely wander around the Goldenrod Department Store for cosmetic goodies and fruits that he could use for himself. The latter is for make-up that's made from Pokemon Products as they tend to be rather effective. Rook would love to bring souvenirs back to his siblings and show the world of Pokemon in all its beauty.
Imagine if someone found the Berry Shop or the Bike Shop.
People would be able to grow Berries with them as they pleased while they traversed the region, although they wondered about the Watering Can situation. The Bikes were rented out for them to use, although Floyd nearly crashed into people as he did so. A policeman had to stop him from going too fast on the streets and that led to more chaos.
If Soni brought them to Ecruteak though, that's where the real challenge begins because most of the people were looking at their group and wondering who the heck they were. Like Soni mentioned, they were hesitant to interact with them, given the circumstances of how foreigners tended to act in their region and the history behind that.
Needless to say, it was tough.
However, during the festival night, they wore masks and they were able to enjoy themselves more. Games, activities, and other things happened that made for a pleasant evening. I can see Trey trying out the local treats and getting ideas about it. I can see Vil and Crewel being enthralled by the Kimono Girl show as well as Happiny being super happy by the pretty dancing ladies on stage that reminded her of Mama Monet.
There were some comments made about them by the locals of the "scary tourists" and how Soni shouldn't have "worn those colored contacts young people wear nowadays" and that she should be proud of her Johtonian heritage. That sort of thing. If Soni ran into her maternal grandparents along the way though... well, that's an entirely different thing altogether.
But anyway, it's a pleasant day overall!

TOH Fanfic recs! Part 1
(All of these people are my inspiration I stg)
Found family
Make my heart your home series by @tiredandjaded
First fic: Luz accidentally calls Eda "mom" and they both have a crisis over it. Mostly Luz. Second fic: post-YBOS, Luz tells Eda and Lilith of what happened during the rescue mission, and both Luz and Eda give Lilith a shovel talk. Third fic: Luz and Eda are both taking care of each other in the first seven days after coming home. Includes fun sibling bonding!
(Patiently awaiting the next chapter of the third installment!)
Literally anything by @hereforthehurts
The way they write emotions and hurt/comfort is seriously amazing. Never fails to make me cry, especially when it comes to sickfics and fics of Eda and Luz. (I recommend supporting them on Ko-Fi!)
You Are My Sunshine by @liesminelli
One of the first Owl House fics I ever read, and it's SO good! Luz has a night terror and Eda walks in on her freaking out, and it goes from there. The emotions of both characters are very well-written, and the ending is so sweet! I also recommend checking out their other works too!
It's The Least I Could Do by @witchesbeforewizardss
There aren't enough fics of Luz and Lilith bonding, and this is one of the BEST ones. Lilith needs more healthy relationships, and in my opinion, building an aunt-niece relationship with Luz is a great place to start! (next to making amends with Eda) Basically, Luz is feeling homesick, and before dinner, she allows Lilith to help her feel better.
Luz's Not So Great Luck and
A Friendly Beastly Surprise by @animerunner
The first fic has a large abundance of angsty scenarios, mostly AUs, all of which are wonderful to read. My personal favorite is the one where Luz is an orphan and she has a chronic illness, and well, you'll have to read to find out! The second one is canon compliant, and it's about Eda turning into the Owl Beast and treating Luz like an owlet, and Luz is just like "guess this is my life now". It's so cute!
Rainy Day Makeovers by @fallenflowersfromgrace
To summarize, There's boiling rain, and Luz convinces Eda to spend time with her giving each other makeovers. It's very cute, and I love it!
Some Honesty Before Breakfast by @pizzaboat
Eda notices Luz is acting unusual, and gets her to open up. It's in-character, and wonderfully executed.
Thank you for being in my life by @peridot-garcia
Episodes of The Owl House from Eda's perspective, and as of now, also Luz and Lilith's perspective. It's got wonderful found family scenarios, and so far the plot is pretty great!
Lighting up the Dark by The_Quoter
This is a very recent one, and I love it! It's post-Young Blood Old Souls, and Eda comes to terms with how much Luz means to her, while also helping her come out of a nightmare.
The Light Behind Your Eyes by ABirdinFlight
Post-Young Blood. Eda gives Lilith a shovel-talk (harsh but well-deserved) and has a heart-to-heart talk with Luz in her room.
Moonlit Masquerade: Replacement by Rohad
Similar to make my heart your home, Luz accidentally calls Eda "mom" and both of them have a crisis over it. (As expected!)
Bad Days by @drabbles-of-writing
Part of their Four Years AU, Luz has an episode, and Eda takes her home to help her calm down. It's very bittersweet and heartfelt.
Gratuitous Embellishments of Chicken Noodle Soup by Rulerofthecosmosandsnails
Luz almost drowns at the Knee, but her Owl Mom is there to help her get better, including making her soup! (Yeah, my fic Snow Day was inspired by this)
A Line Crossed by Clevinger
AU in which Luz dies by the spikes at the bridge, in front of Eda, who thankfully resurrects her, and as expected, Luz is having a hard time handling it. There's another work inspired by it called Too Much, Too Late by TheHonestyBird.
A nightmare and a hug by moreteaplease
Reeaaally hard to find since it doesn't have the relationship tag for Luz and Eda, but still, it's very good! Post-YBOS, Luz has a nightmare and goes to Eda for comfort, confessing that she misses her mom.
Sleepless Nights by @snail-watch
Similar to the one before this, Luz has a nightmare and goes to Eda for comfort. I loved the way the author wrote Eda's thoughts about Luz!
Mending Trust by @electricwalkman
Similar to The Light Behind Your Eyes. Eda puts Luz to bed, and Luz tells her about the portal being destroyed, and gives her the mask piece. Eda comforts her, as well.
Night Owl and
The Bad Dream Club by @thedrunkenwerewolf / @wolfiethewriter
Eda has trouble sleeping, Luz notices, and Eda confessed that she's scared of hurting Luz as the beast. Luz of course, reassures her by telling her it won't happen. The second fic is the other way around, sorta. Luz has a nightmare and gets herself a drink to calm down, and Eda finds her.
Dreams of a Witch by TheDinosaurNerd
Eda talks to her younger self in her mindscape about her life as a wild witch. (In the end it turns out to be Luz in her lap.)
Griffon Flu by @serendipitouslyss
Another great sickfic! Luz gets the flu, or Griffon Flu as it's called in the Boiling Isles, but Eda and King are more than willing to help her get better.
Owlet by spotty8bee
Ah, the cursed AU that started it all. Only 2 chapters, but it's wonderfully heartbreaking and you really feel for Eda in the second half of chapter 1.
Observations of the Witchy Kind by JoLau
If you like platonic cuddling, you'll love this fic! Luz wants to learn about witch biology, but unfortunately Boscha burns the notebook that had her research, so she tries to rewrite her observations, and ends up catching Eda's attention.
I Need You, Please Don't Leave Me by rainbowpotato12
Luz is having bad thoughts, and worries that something bad could happen to Eda again, but Eda reassures her it won't.
This is Home by SpaghettieBabie
Luz has doubts about herself, and opens up to Eda about it, confessing that she likes her as her mother figure.
I Love the Found Family Trope! by @l-egionaire
Takes place after The Intruder. Eda thinks that Luz and King might leave her after knowing about the curse, and they tell her they would never do that.
Nightmare by OneandOnlyOllie
Another nightmare fic! Eda comforts Luz after a nightmare. Lilith hears the two, and wants to make things right with Luz.
It was not, in fact, a day out by @pizzaboat
Post-YBOS. Eda turns into the Owl Beast, tries to cuddle Luz, Lilith and King in her nest, and they have to come up with a working scheme to turn her back. Basically The Intruder if Lilith was there.
A broken brain by @pizzaboat
I can relate to this one a lot (except my adhd is diagnosed). Luz has trouble focusing on homework, and doesn't know why, and tells Eda she thinks she's going crazy, but Eda tells her she's not, and that Lilith had a similar problem.
What big claws (to protect you with my dear) by @ito-itonomen
AU where Luz is 10 and Eda takes her in, and both of them have doubts about themselves. Chapter 2 is especially good.
Unexpected Hope by @sepublic
Luz talks to Lilith about how she had (surprisingly) inspired her.
Lilith and Eda
Mistakes Might Have Been Made by @fallenflowersfromgrace
WARNING: you will definitely cry in the second chapter!
An AU in which Lilith split the curse with Eda the first time she transformed. Of course, by the time she reveals that she cursed her, it doesn't go well. (Eda's reaction hurts, but it's in character) and the pain in chapter 2 is just…AGONY AND ITS SO GOOD!
Walk Through the Storm, I Would by @lilithswxfe
Trigger warning for self harm and suicidal thoughts in this fic.
Lilith tries to hurt herself while in a bad state, but Eda catches her and comforts her.
Source Decay series by @tiredandjaded
Trigger warning for underage drinking in the second fic.
Two pre-canon fics about Lilith and Eda, the first fic portraying Eda as trans and how she's feeling about her name, and how Lilith helps her. The second one is sadder, it's after the curse and Eda isn't taking Lilith coming home late very well, leading to some…not-so-great coping mechanisms.
Rabbit Heart by radiantstaber
It has found family Owl Mom moments, but then it is mostly about Lilith and Eda rebuilding their relationship, with Luz trying her best to encourage both of them. (The description is very funny, describing the Owl House as a get along shirt.)
The Cafeteria Incident by @electricwalkman
Remember that page from Eda's record about Eda summoning abominations because somebody stole Lilith's lunch money? This is based on that, and it's SO GOOD!
Runaway Raven by @witchesbeforewizardss
Trigger warning for graphic injuries
In both Lilith thinks she doesn't belong with her family in the Owl House, and tries to "punish" herself. Eda convinces her that it's not worth it and she just wants her sister back.
The Long Night by @serendipitouslyss
Post-YBOS, just like The Light Behind Your Eyes. Eda puts Luz to bed, and she and Lilith have a long talk. (Though she's not as harsh.)
A Midnight Talk by @elizabethemerald
Lilith sees Luz having a nightmare, and calms her down for a little bit (via stroking her hair). Eda sees her, and the two have a talk.
I Need a Moment to Quiet This Pain by @come-unhinged
Moments in Eda's life and how she dealt with her curse.
Part 2 might have Lumity idk

SOMETHING DEEPER
Tumblr media
CHAPTER 12: Fight, Flight, or Freeze
RATING: Explicit (18+ ONLY!!!)
WARNINGS: canon-compliant violence, sexual content, rough sex, descriptions of blood (let me know if there's more that needs to be tagged)
SUMMARY: “Just the two of us?” Nova manages, and then Din’s gloved hand snaps out from where it was held in tension against his sides. She doesn’t flinch when it meets her cheek, as soft as a butterfly wing.
Din’s expression, even unmasked, is unreadable. He’s stoic in his silence, still pulsating something red and dark, and Nova can practically taste his restraint. She wets her lips, still refusing to take her gaze off of his, and Din makes a sharp noise in the back of his throat, muffled only by his mouth and the low thrum of the starship. “For starters,” he says, the words electric, a livewire, and then he’s hooked his other arm around Nova’s neck, pulling her upwards.
If you’re a newcomer, my fic “Something More” is the first installment of this story! <3
AUTHOR’S NOTE: HAPPY SOMETHING DEEPER SATURDAY EVERYONE!!! this chapter is yet again at ~11k words. idk how i keep doing this. there is also FILTH in the beginning, and then some worldbuilding (which i know isn't the most fun, but i hope y'all forgive me for it because it will all connect very soon). please read the content warnings above, and LEMME KNOW ALL YOUR THOUGHTS! Both Nova and Din stare at the comm as if a ghost just appeared out of it. Some sort of loud, breathy noise, leftover from Din’s lips against hers, comes out of Nova’s throat. She can feel her ears buzzing, and when she blinks, looking back up at Din, who’s frozen in place, hovering over her, armored everywhere except for the helmet.
“What—?” Din starts.
Nova inhales, sharp and ragged. “We’re going after her,” she breathes, her lips still an inch away from Din’s. “We’re going after her anyway, right?
Din’s eyes are dark and calculated. but Nova can see the undercurrent of fear, even in the low light of the ship. She presses her lips together, blinking as if that’ll solve her racing heartbeat. Quickly, fluidly, like he’s been possessed by some sort of external force, Din shoots up. His every move is intentional and measured, and Nova watches, still on her back, propped up by her elbows, unsure of what to do next.
At the dashboard, Din’s plugging in coordinates to the navigation system. Slowly, Nova sits all the way up, her heart pounding from Bo-Katan’s strangled message and from the absence of Din’s hungry mouth against hers. “Din,” she starts, and he holds up a single gloved finger. Nova falls silent, but she pushes herself up to her wobbly feet, falling into the copilot’s seat. She watches Din’s every move, feeling the low rumble of the Mand’alor ship before it takes off of Korrus’s rocky, uneven surface. The second they’re out in the stars, Din punches all the thrusters into warp. Nova closes her eyes as the stars shoot out in vivid, blurry rays, and when she opens them again, they’re fully in hyperspace, no noise other than the engine of the ship. Din’s standing in front of her, and Nova tips her head all the way back against the headrest in the copilot’s seat, trying to find his eyes in the dark crush of space.
“Where are we going?” she asks, and Din sighs, low and heavy. Nova bites down on her bottom lip. It was difficult to tell earlier, under the modification of the modulator, but it’s hard for her to miss now. He’s not thinking. He’s not sighing because he’s ruminating on something, grappling with what they’ve heard. He’s angry. Livid, actually. Nova can trace it in his flared nostrils, in the press of his pink lips. She knows all the warning signs, and they’re all blinking red. Under the beskar, if she watches for long enough, there’s a tremble in his stature, like Din is trying to resist his fury, to bite it back.
Din stares down at her before he speaks. “Mustafar,” he says, finally, his voice strained and low. He moves a step closer. Nova feels the stretch in her throat of how far her head is tipped back, but she refuses to take her eyes off of her husband’s.
Nova swallows. If she wasn’t looking up at him, her eyes would be level with Din’s crotch. Despite everything, even in the flint and fire of Bo-Katan’s call, she wants him in a way she didn’t have him back on Korrus, unhinged and vile, with his full attention on her. “Just the two of us?” Nova manages, and then Din’s gloved hand snaps out from where it was held in tension against his sides.
His mouth is as hot as her body feels. Nova gasps before their lips touch, and then the only sounds she can emit are the moans that echo into the open hollow of Din’s mouth. His grip is so tight. Even through his gloves, his touch burns. He moves the crook of his arm from around her neck to the small of her back, pressing her torso up against the beskar, needy and desperate. Nova reaches up on her toes, everything inside of her a burning pyre, and when Din’s other hand knots in her hair, tipping her head back to get a better angle on his tongue inside of her mouth, Nova makes a small, wet noise, one that sounds like she’s been deprived of his touch for years instead of just a matter of minutes.
“Din,” she tries, but then his large, gloved hand slides down to her ass, and everything Nova was going to say immediately evaporates. The beskar is warming up against her skin, and when Din finds the opening of the short dress, just barely long enough to cover her skin, Nova claws at the plate of armor against his back. He hoists her up. Nova’s knees are still wobbly from when she rode his armored thigh back on Korrus, so her feet leave the ground like they’re meant to, without any restraint or protest. Din’s grip is strong and intentional, and when his lips pull off of hers, Nova’s moan echoes in the empty hull of the ship. He moves forward, roughly, desperate and driven, and then Nova registers that she’s being slammed against the metal wall of the ship, but she’s not even thinking of how her spine will ache in the morning, or the bruises that it’ll leave behind. Faintly, Nova remembers that she was going to ask Din something else, but it doesn’t come back into her mind until Din comes up for air. “What if it is a trap?” she manages, her voice high and breathy.
Din looks at her, and Nova takes one hand off his shoulder to brush it across his face, feeling the scratch of his scruff, stroking the ridge of his cheekbone. His lips are still parted like he’s ready to do what Nova begged for, to devour and nothing else, but he exhales, and for a second, he looks like he’s reachable. “We have weapons,” he reminds her, steady and sure, and then his mouth moves forward to latch against her bare, exposed neck. “I didn’t think you’d want to waste time going back to Hoth first, and if it is a trap—” Din’s lips leave Nova’s skin with a wet sucking noise, “then it’s a good thing we’re going without the rest of the Alliance.”
Nova tilts her head back against the cool metal of the wall, her eyelashes fluttering as Din’s tongue parts his lips, licking long, hot lines along her neck, over her pulse points, his teeth grazing over her earlobe. “I—This is reckless.”
Din’s mouth pulls away. His grip tightens against every single curve of her body, and Nova reels from the absence of his tongue against her skin, the air in the cabin of the starfighter way too cold. “Maybe so,” he says, darkly, his eyes traveling over her eyes, the curve of her lips, “but I don’t fucking care.”
Nova inhales, sharp and needy, like the air is being sucked out of her lungs. “Din, we need to strategize—”
“Mustafar,” Din says, his voice vile and low, muted against the skin of Nova’s neck, “is parsecs away. We’ll have time for that later. Right now,” he sighs, loud and dangerous, “I promised that I’d devour you. And right now, I intend to keep my promise. You gonna let me touch you now, or do I have to beg?” He pulls his mouth away on the last word, licking a line right at the hollow of her throat, and when Nova meet shis eyes again, she’s a fucking goner. Everything else filters out, her breath fast and heavy, her heartbeat racing in her ears, her desire low and hungry in the pit of her stomach.
“No,” Nova whines, “you don’t have to beg.” And then Din’s hand is knotted in her hair again, his mouth slotting up against hers. Time stops. She can feel the ship hurtling through hyperspace, and Nova just lets herself be held there, getting kissed like the end of the world is inevitable, and they’re on the last ship out. She can feel how hard Din is through his pants and the armor around, and she moans when he cinches her legs around his waist, the heavy press of his cock up against her panties. His fingers are digging deeper into her skin, rough and gloved, but Nova doesn’t care about the way her muscles will ache tomorrow, the bloomed bruises mapping out his touch. She moans out loud, and Din’s lips trail down to the other side of her neck, kissing the pulse point below her ear. Nova remembers his promise to never leave marks on her again after she woke up from being on the brink of death, but his touch burns red and hungry, and Nova knows she’ll relish the imprints of his hands until they fade away.
Din’s free hand comes down, hooking his finger on the waistband of Nova’s panties, rough and wild. She feels him yank them down as far as he can with her legs still wrapped feverishly around his waist, and then his fingers, still clothed in leather, trace over her clit, still swollen from back down on Korrus, down her slit, lingering in all the places Nova wants him to take. She moans, and then he pulls away, so abruptly that it feels like she’s been electrocuted.
“What’s wrong?” Nova whispers, her words laden with lust. Slowly, Din unravels her legs from his waist, and Nova’s heart pounds, terrified that she accidentally did something to make him stop, her knees still shaking, her bottom lip trembling.
“Oh, my sweet girl,” Din rasps out, and then Nova’s feet are back on the floor, his hand back on her cheek. When he strokes his thumb over her skin, it’s wet from the flood between her legs, “nothing is wrong. But I told you, I didn’t forget what you did to me while you were riding my thigh back on Korrus.”
Nova looks up at him, still panting, then Din’s hand trails down to her neck, fitting perfectly over the base of her throat. Her eyes roll back as his fingers clench—barely enough to feel it, let alone to choke any air out of her windpipe, even though she sort of wants it—and then he’s gently tugging her to the pilot’s seat, which is backlit by the strum and shine of millions of streaking stars. Din sits down, turning the chair so that Nova’s pressed up against the dashboard, the reflection of hyperspace shining back at her through the rest of the beskar. His hands trail down over Nova’s barely-clothed body, moving from her neck to the valley between her tits, all the way down to where her bellybutton is, careful and intentional, never once touching the raised ridge of her scar, and cinches around her thigh, just like he did in the club, pulling her forward. Slowly, he looks up at her, then to the armor on his left leg. Nova’s breath catches in her throat.
“Ride it,” Din says, and there’s a dangerous, electric edge to his voice. Nova presses her lips together, knowing that the moan inside her mouth will come out sounding absolutely filthy. Wordlessly, she straddles it, the beskar and the hard, toned muscle underneath, and both of Din’s hands tighten on her hips, pulling her down. Nova blinks up at him, and then Din is leaning forward, brushing his pink lips against her ear. “I know you know how. There’s no point in being shy about it now.”
Nova stares. It’s not intentional. She’s starstruck, like the words are gathering, congealed in her mouth, like her eyes are meant to roll back and take it like Din’s ordering to do, but she can’t move. Her mouth balloons open and closed, like a fish out of water. “You want me to—?”
“No,” Din interrupts, his voice possessive and low. Nova’s heart is hammering. “I need it.”
Speechless, Nova lets her hips pull down with gravity, her knees still shaking and starry from the last time she did this. Back on Korrus, down in the club, this felt desperate. It was dirty and it was laced with danger. This feels different, the intimacy of it is almost too loud to bear. The stars are locked in an eternal state of supernova, crushing loud in Nova’s ears, and then one of DIn’s hands knots in her hair, tipping it back again, mouth a centimeter away from her neck.
“Now,” Din growls, so Nova obeys.
Only it doesn't feel like obedience. It doesn’t feel like an order she’s following. It feels like this is what she was made for, her hips loosening and undulating, the fire in the pit of her belly an inferno, magma seeping everywhere left out in the cold. Din’s grip in her hair loosens as Nova rides his leg, the sound of her wetness against the beskar obscene and loud. Nova tries to bury her face in Din’s shoulder, but he shakes his head, his free hand clenched on her hip.
Nova moans.
Din grins, low and dangerous. “More,” he whispers, and it feels sacrosanct and holy at the same time. Nova’s eyes roll back this time, eyelashes fluttering against her cheek, the choked, desperate stream of moaning spilling out of her mouth like something memorized. Against her left knee, Nova can feel Din, how hard he is under the rest of the beskar. It’s digging into her, the shape of him, huge and thick, and she shudders, fucking down against his leg, the chill of the beskar warming underneath the heat of her pussy, and she’s done for. She slides up to the lip of the metal, the same place that made her orgasm ricochet against her body back on Korrus, and when she presses her clit against it, it feels like everything inside of her is coming undone, relief and sweet release.
When Nova looks back up at Din, that hollow, hungry look is still in his eye. “Again.”
The noise that comes out of Nova’s mouth is a cross between a sigh and a choked inhale. “I think I’m spent,” she manages, her voice wobbly, and Din leans forward, nearly pressing his forehead against hers.
“Not until I say so,” he whispers, his words dancing and pulsing out of his mouth.
Nova obeys. She rides against the beskar, again and again, the wet squelching sound ringing out into the darkness over and over again, and Din murmurs benedictions and praise into her ear, his lips dancing a breath away. “Good girl. That’s my good girl. Keep going. You’re not done yet. You’re going to cum over and over, until I tell you so.”
She can’t count how many. Nova doesn’t know how many times she reaches the edge and then hurtles herself over the cliff of it, into the beckoning darkness, into the pit of filth she’s entangled in with Din. Finally, she’s slick and exhausted, her legs swimmy and strange, and Din doesn’t hold her down against the beskar anymore.
“Thank you,” she whispers, her voice desperate and ringing out in the dark, cold hull, like a confession to the empty space around them.
Din hooks his finger under her chin, still gloved, and Nova looks into his eyes. There’s still a flame there, something hungry and unsatiated, and she swallows, licking her lips, breath heaving in the space between. “You’re not done.”
Nova raises her eyebrows. “Din—”
“One more,” he says, and then his voice softens at the edges. “Please.”
Nova nods before she realizes she’s moving, and then Din’s hands are grappling at the beskar on his other leg. Nova slumps against his body in confusion and exhaustion, dimly aware that he’s doing something, but her heart is still racing, she’s wet and made a whole mess, and she thinks she could fall asleep right here if Din let her.
But, of course, Din has other plans. He pulls Nova up enough to slide his pants down, the sound of beskar clattering against the metal of the starfighter’s floor snapping Nova into the moment. “What are you doing?” she whispers, looking for the answers in Din’s eyes.
“You’re going to cum on my bare leg this time,” he says, matter-of-factly, not a single air of embarrassment. His voice is flat and demanding, like it is when he takes charge of the situation, when he talked to his more dangerous bounties, when he was at the helm of Mandalore. “Now, cyar’ika, don’t make me ask you.”
Nova feels all wobbly, but the fire deep inside of her, the flames licking hot and wet for one more hit of release, propels her upwards. Din has to help her sit down against his bare leg, and when she starts grinding against him, Din’s hands circle her hips. There’s a mewling, desperate noise, and Nova realizes that it’s coming from her own mouth. She doesn’t stop. The rational part of her mind is tucked away, forced into submission. Right now, she feels feral, like she’s been released into the wild, like nothing else in the entire galaxy matters.
“Good girl,” Din whispers, and Nova feels herself getting close, her vision getting starry and white, her nails digging into the beskar on his shoulders, like it’ll do something, like she’ll make a mark. “Hey,” he says, and Nova’s eyes open, focused on Din’s face, and he loosens one hip to snake a gloved hand up to her chin, which he grabs, full force. “You’re mine, remember that. No one else gets to hear you moan. No one else gets to make you cum. Do you understand me?”
She’s there, right there, dizzy and starry-eyed, and her mouth is struck open in an electric, pornographic O. Nova nods, furiously, and Din’s grip on her chin loosens, and she grinds down on his leg, his warm skin, the muscle of his thigh as hard as she’s sure he is. Again, the sound blurs and distorts, and Nova moans loud, everything else getting drowned out. And then, hazily, she recognizes that she’s wet all over her stomach, some of it clinging to her dress, and when she opens her eyes, pearly, thick ropes of Din’s cum is splattered across her belly. Like a moth to a flame, like the infernal rage of a volcano, spilled over and marking her as his, his, his. For a second, they just sit there, staring into each other’s eyes, and neither of them move, encapsulated in the starstruck sin of the moment.
“I’m yours,” Nova reminds him, her breath still hot and wild.
“I need you,” Din whispers, and he doesn’t sound hungry anymore. He sounds exhausted, like giving orders has depleted all of his energy. He tips his forehead against Nova’s, hand clenched at the nape of her neck, like he’s begging her to stay there. Nova doesn’t move a muscle. “It devastates me, how much I need you. I can’t breathe. I can’t—”
“I’m here,” Nova manages, stroking a hand through his curly hair, matted down from the fight on the planet’s surface, from the act of sex, both infernal and draining. “I’m right here—”
“Never pull a stunt like that again,” Din warns, and something turns over in Nova’s belly, sickly and strange. “I have half a mind to go back down there and cut the eyes out of every man who watched you on top of me.”
Nova presses her forehead closer into Din’s in the absence of words. She doesn't know what to do—if the animal she just untamed is hiding beneath the surface, or if she’s touching the man who loves her, the one she’s unleashed over the last year and a half. So she sits, her body against his, skin matching skin. “I’m yours. Only yours,” Nova whispers. “And there is nothing—nothing—in the galaxy that will change that. Okay?”
It takes a beat, but then Din nods, pulling away from Nova’s face. There’s still something desperate roiling in the pit of her stomach, but Din pulls her towards the fresher, and then the running water, hot and purifying, rolls over both of them, and the gnawing recedes, flexes, and then disappears entirely.
*
It’s late, even in space, and the stars blink and dance quietly, like they’re exhausted or mourning. Nova’s stil catching her breath from the way Din held her, possessive and wanting, and when she wakes up, it’s with a jolt, everything still fuzzy around the edge. She knows she had a nightmare. She knows it was one that was nonsensical and vivid, but she can’t remember the specifics. Tiny, fragile moments blur out in front of her—Grogu’s scared babble, the specific whoosh of Ahsoka’s white lightsabers, the haunted face of Luke Skywalker, the awful ricochet of the tall villain’s voice, the one that Ben turns into. Ladmeny Sparmau and her awful chokehold. The image of Nova in the resurrected temple back on Jedha. The black and white danger of the Darksaber. Din on the ground, knees crumpled at the sight of something terrible that Nova can’t see. Her necklace, her ring, the flash of the beskar she lives and breathes for. Her own reflection, gaunt and haunted.
None of it makes sense. The restlessness that pulsed in the pit of her stomach earlier is back, taking on a new shape of all the things she can’t extricate. Nova pushes herself to a sitting position, blinking to try to conjure the rest of her dream into tangible, understandable pieces. The quiet pulse of space right outside of the window is too loud to ignore, and Nova toys with the Rebel insignia on her necklace, pressing it between her forefinger and thumb. She hears the quiet whistle of Din’s heavy breathing, and she looks down at him, watching the dim light filtering into the ship only illuminate parts of his face. The prominent bump in his nose. The trace of his pink lips. The long, long eyelashes that rest against his cheek as if in prayer. Nova swallows, trying not to disturb him as she curls her knees up to her chest, still bruised from the intensity of the last few days. Whenever Din sleeps—really sleeps, a true slumber, through REM cycles—she doesn’t dare to do anything that could wake him from it.
When Nova closes her eyes, trying to stitch the vision back together, she can’t. Everything is still so fragmented, like she’s watching a highlight reel of all the hurt that’s happened and all the bad waiting ahead. The weight of it is frozen, heavy. Like Nova’s carrying around a planet of ice on her shoulders, and she can’t let it melt.
It takes a long time before Nova’s able to completely detangle herself from Din’s sleeping body. His limbs curl around her like trees share roots, hot and warm, buried together in the same origin point. His body heat is unbelievable, especially against the weight on Nova’s shoulders, against the crush of space, and the second Nova wrangles herself free, she shivers. Her socks are tall, sitting around the middle of her calves, but right now, they've been tunnelled down to her ankles. She steps around the nest the two of them have constructed out of blankets and pillows and various items of clothing to pad the unforgivable floor of the hull, and heads straight for the fresher.
Still, everything comes in flashes. Nova sits on the toilet, pressing the heels of her hands into her eyes, pushing down until she sees stars. None of it resurrects her vision in her dream, and Nova sighs audibly, reluctantly opening her eyes to the dim light of the fresher. She wants to shower away everything—the frustration, the smell of sex, the memory of the club on Korrus, even though her hair is still wet from her last one, hours ago—but Nova goes over to the sink instead, splashing cold water on her face. When she looks up, her reflection isn’t her own.
Well it is, but it’s the vision of herself nearly a decade ago. Nova sucks in a raggedy gasp, jumping backward, away from the strange version of herself peering back at her. She shivers in the cold hollow of the room, blinking furiously, trying to get her head to explain away what she just saw—she was seventeen and reckless, a wild look behind her eyes. Nova steps forward, trying to steel herself, bracing her hands against the metal basin of the sink. She tilts her head to the side.
Andromeda tilts her head right back. Nova bites down on her lip, hard. She scratches her head with her left hand, ensuring her reflection in the mirror—nearly ten years ago—follows suit. She does. Nova clenches her jaw, reaching out her hand to touch against the glass, meeting her younger self’s reflection in the middle. “Why are you here?” Nova whispers, trying to chase the ghost away. Andromeda’s gaze is equally intense as it is sad, like she’s a second away from tears. Nova presses her body against the sink, taking a tiny half-step forward again, close enough for her breath to fog up the glass. “Are you real?”
Somehow, impossibly, Andromeda nods. Nova squeezes her eyes shut, trying to quell her racing heartbeat. When Novalise is able to meet her eyes in her reflection, she traces over the ugly purple ringlet of a healing bruise on her left eye, touching her fingertips to her real cheekbone. Nova presses down, and it doesn't hurt, but her reflection winces anyways.
“Why are you here?” Nova repeats, her mouth barely moving at all, everything buzzing and too loud in her ears. She can’t tell if it’s an aftershock of pressing her hands into her eyes earlier or if the presence of her former self is sucking the life force out of her, but Nova can barely keep her footing.
Andromeda stares back. Nova watches as her own arm raises up and points at her shaking body, tapping a circle around her heart like a hex. When Nova looks back up, her vision blurred from focusing on the hand she didn’t raise, Andromeda is gone. It’s just Novalise, nine years older, laughter lines etched into the corners of her smile, the lightest smattering of freckles dusting over her nose, her green eyes vivid and bright. Nova sighs, letting her head drop, hands trembling as she runs them over the real parts of her body. Her hair, long and wavy, hanging over her shoulder. Her hands, the long princess fingers that are curled over the water tap, metal-blue. The taste of sleep still lingering in her mouth. The furrow between her eyebrows, the line left from all of her old ghosts and worries. Nova looks back up against her reflection, and then, somehow, again, she’s not herself.
It’s not any less shocking as it was the first time. It’s not Andromeda Maluev staring back at her, this time, but it’s just as strange and feverish. Nova’s reflection is perfect—not a single strand of raven hair out of place, the starry crown perched atop the crown on her head, the silver dress a flawless bullet that races down her body. She’s looking at the painting of her in the fake, resurrected temple back on Jedha, but this time, Nova’s not looking at it starry-eyed and from an angle, she’s facing it head-on.
And it’s her. It’s undoubtedly, vividly her, so when Nova touches the tips of her fingers to the mirror again, her reflection’s follow.
“What are you,” is all she’s able to manage. Her reflection is something holy, something saintlike. Nova swallows, and then something moves at the corner of her eye. When she looks back up, the relic of her is gone, and so is any trace of Andromeda.
Nova’s just Novalise Djarin again. Her breath comes back to her mouth like she’s been freshly shocked and brought back, and when Nova stares at herself in the mirror, she’s all she sees. She swallows, splashing another stream of cold water on her face, and then she turns away from her reflection, her mind running at a pace that could rival the starfighter. Outside of the fresher, the hull seems huge. Nova retraces her footsteps, trying to dance around their tangle of blankets and Din’s sleeping body, but something about the way the stars are streaming in through the window of their ship distracts her. Pulled by the centrifugal force of the cosmos, Nova steps forward, once, twice, three times, until she’s standing between the navigational dashboard and the pilot’s seat.
It’s her typical dance, her swan song. Nova sneaks another glance back at where Din is curled around nothing, his face peaceful in sleep, a relief against the uncontrolled urges he had before, and then she faces the stars again. She has no idea where they are in space right now. They must have left Korrus a handful of hours ago, because the fuel gauge on the starfighter is pointing a gleaming arrow somewhere considerably lower than it was when they started their trek. Nova pulls her thumb to her mouth, looking around the dashboard for the full nav system. Din’s got the small panel set to distance and destination, with nothing relative to the rest of the galaxy around them.
“Where are you,” Nova whispers, pressing buttons until it springs up. Din stirs behind her, and Nova looks back to see him shifting under the weight of their blankets, rolling over into sleep. It pops up, and Nova takes stock of the planets their blinking, moving locus has flown by. Korrus and Mustafar are both in the Outer Rim—but Din was right, Mustafar is parsecs away. They’re about halfway there, Nova guesses, squinting to make the shine of their destination stand out. There’s a small beep from the dashboard, quiet but sustained, and Nova skims over the dashboard, trying to locate the source.
It’s the fuel gauge. After only a handful of minutes, it’s been depleted even more. Nova swallows, heartbeat racketing up, everything pounding in her chest. This is what happened on Dagobah, Nova thinks frantically, fingers flying over the dashboard to find the engine statistics, this is exactly what happened when we crash landed on Dagobah. And then, after a clammy, panicked beat, this is how my parents died.
Everything is colder. Nova has submerged into the proverbial planet of ice on her shoulders. Her breath is being held captive in the claustrophobic hollow of her mouth, and she wants to scream, but she can’t. It’s funny, because her usual reaction to a threat is strictly flight or fight—or a combination of the two—but right now, she’s frozen.
“Hey.” Din’s voice is deep behind her, and Nova whirls around, staring at him. There’s a strange, worried look in his eye, which is the opposite of the flat hunger that pulsed the last time they stood in this spot, which feels ages ago right now. ”What’s going on?”
“The ship, it—we’re running low on fuel, and it keeps blinking—”
Din cuts her off by storming around to the navigation panel himself, and Nova gladly shoves herself out of the way. Even without armor, he’s a furious, dangerous sight. “This can’t be right,” he mutters, and Nova’s worried eyes glaze over to the rapidly descending fuel gauge, already nearly blinking on empty. “I refueled back on Hoth, before we left—how is this happening?”
Something freezes Nova in her seat. “We need to land,” she manages, breathless, like the wind has been knocked clean out of her. “Din, we need to land, now,” she repeats, shaky and barely audible, and when he looks back at her, something wild in his eyes, Nova straps into the copilot’s seat, jaw clenched together, sending prayers to the Maker above that they don’t crash land an inch from death this time.
*
They don’t crash land close to anything fatal, but the plummet of Din’s Mandalorian starfighter to the planet below is not graceful. Nova does her best to try and brace the two of them from the fall, and Din fights the comm to keep steady, but when they land, there’s an awful scraping sound, a shudder, and then everything goes quiet. Nova’s knuckles have turned something awfully close to white, clenching down on the armrests as the starfighter battled gravity and gravity won.
Nova’s ears are ringing, and she feels like all the teeth in her mouth have been knocked ajar, but she’s relatively okay. Din storms up and out of the pilot’s seat like a soldier heading into war, and before Nova can release her death grip on the chair she’s sitting in, Din’s already gathered up his strewn armor littered across the cockpit and is halfway through strapping it into place on his body. Nova turns, a hand pressed to her mouth, trying to coax the blood to flow back through her frozen fingertips. Din strides over, already helmeted, and touches his gloved hand to her cheek. “Are you okay?” he whispers, his voice gentle through the modulator, and Nova closes her eyes, nodding. She doesn’t know if he means from the crash or from the desperate way they fucked earlier, but either way, right now, against all the odds, she’s solid. “I’ll be right back,” Din says, and it’s not until he lowers the gangplank to step outside that Nova trusts herself to open them. Her heartbeat is rabid. Flashes of her unsettled dream, all of these small hurts laced together toward a gut punch, are still running through her head. Nova doesn’t even want to look at anything reflective, let alone a mirror, because there’s a gnawing pit in her stomach that something she did, something she looked in on, fucked with the ship and got them grounded.
And then Nova remembers why they’re headed to Mustafar in the first place—to rescue Bo-Katan. Immediately, Nova feels sick, a sob rising in the back of her throat. “You’re so stupid,” she rasps out to herself, in the too-quiet hull of the otherwise empty ship. “And selfish, You’re so selfish. You’re supposed to be helping your friend—” and then she’s interrupted by the scrape of metal against metal, and the ship settling deeper into the hole they probably punched into the ground. Dimly, Nova can hear Din swearing, and she looks from the open gangplank to her comm, faint red light sparking up despite the void dashboard, and in one fluid motion, Nova propels herself up to grab it and strap it to her wrist.
“Wedge,” she breathes, eyes trained on the open mouth of the gangplank, knowing Din’ll be back in at any second, “I’m safe, Din is safe, but we’ve crash landed somewhere in the Outer Rim. We got a message from Bo-Katan. She’s on Mustafar.” Nova pauses, closing her eyes. “We’re going after her, but I’m afraid it’ll be a trap—”
Din’s footsteps against the metal of the gangplank cut Nova off. She balances her wrist against the armrest, looking up at him. “Were you talking to someone?”
Nova swallows. She knows why she’s keeping her message a semi-secret from Din—he was perfectly clear about how he felt about involving the Alliance in a mission that was likely a trap—but she hates to lie to him. “Wedge,” Nova says, finally, his name tasting like the truth, enough so that she can justify a little white lie, “so he can spread word to the mechanics on Hoth that we might be in for a major repair when we get back there. Do you have any idea where the hell we are?” Nova tried to look out the front window when her body started responding again after the crash, but all she saw was black smoke and dust.
“Hinari,” Din sighs. “We need fuel.” He makes a beckoning gesture with his hand, and Nova slips back on a pair of discarded pants crumpled into the corner of the ship, following his footsteps down the gangplank.
Nova stares. “Well,” she says, slowly, eyes moving over the awful, sunken scar on the metal exterior of the ship, “we might need a little more than that.”
Din sighs again. Nova stands back to inspect the damage. It’s bad. The starfighter may be salvageable, but it’s a very close call. “We need fuel,” he repeats, “and fast.”
The sun is on the horizon. Nova blinks, trying to connect the dots of how long they’ve been off of Korrus’s surface. Has a whole day seriously gone by since they got Bo-Katan’s frantic warning? “Din,” Nova starts, then hesitates. She kicks at the dirt below them with the toe of her boot, sending a tuft of dust to whistle through the air. “How far away are we from Mustafar?”
He looks back at her, and even under the helmet, even through the visor, Nova can tell that he’s deliberating. “Not close enough,” he says, which isn’t really a straight answer. “I need to hike into town. Do you want to stay here—?”
“Nope,” Nova interrupts, “I do not. Not after that crash landing. I’ll get food while you get fuel? I can imagine we’re low by now. And, maybe,” Nova says, glancing at the giant gash in the side of the starship, “one of us can find something to patch that up.”
The trek into town is quiet. They didn’t park as far away from the main city on Hinari like they did on Korrus, but Nova still stands in Din’s shadow. Something about this place feels haunted and strange, and Nova can’t quite put her finger on it. It’s like everything about the last two days has congealed, and there’s multiple sets of eyes on the back of her neck. Hinari isn’t anything special—the terrain is rocky and difficult to navigate, and the small gathering of the city just over the horizon line is dark and quiet—but something about it seems familiar in a way Nova can’t shake.
“Hey,” Din whispers, and Nova snaps to attention. “I think the fuel post is that way.” He points to the right of where the main road seems to run. It’s eerie here, quiet, like everyone is either away or long into sleep. Nova nods. “Food is that way, I assume, because there’s what looks like a market down there.” Nova follows his gloved hand in the opposite direction. She squints.
“How do you know that?” she whispers, unable to make out anything clearly in the haze of dusk.
Din taps the side of his helmet, right where his temple should be, and, immediately, Nova gets it. He has thermal vision and statistics in that thing, of course he can see a bit farther than she is. “Be quick,” he murmurs, and Nova nods. Again, Din ghosts his touch down her cheekbone, and then he’s turned on his heel.
Nova walks in the other direction as Din’s footsteps recede. Most of the buildings are added on to, like most of them were back on Balnab, but there it was charming. Here, it looks dilapidated, and Nova steps carefully to stay in the middle of the street, the watched feeling still lingering on the back of her neck. Because the architecture is so claustrophobic, there’s hardly any alleys, which Nova internally thanks the stars above for, because if she had to cut down between these leaning, strange buildings, she doesn’t know if she’d make it to the end unharmed.
The market Din mentioned is just around the curve, and even though night is encroaching fast, there’s still a handful of people there. Nova pulls her shawl closer to her body, the one Bo-Katan laid over her shoulders the last time they were together, shivering in the low light. No one seems to pay her much mind, and Nova gathers the essentials—jerky for Din, a few packets of porridge, vegetables that won’t wilt or go rotten within a handful of days. The market is sprawling out from under an awning, like it’s been here since the morning rolled around earlier. There are wooden crates of different colors and sizes that spill out of the tables, and most of them only have a few forgotten items. Nova collects what she can, snagging two canteens of water off the shelf, and she takes stock of everything cradled in her arms before she turns around to pay the person behind the counter.
He’s tall, but bent over, sloping towards the register. Nova offers him a small smile, and there’s a scowl set in his eyes, but his mouth quirks up at the edges like he’s trying to return it. “Did you find everything you needed?” he asks, and Nova nods. He’s squinting over the few packages of jerky, trying to tally up the total. “You know,” he says, handing her back the ridged, thick form of one of the vegetables she snagged, “that’s a lovely scarf. In the mornings, we have a market for clothes. If you don’t have enough credits to pay for all of this—”
“I do,” Nova says, hurriedly, shoving the last of the food into her pants pockets. “And this was a gift from a friend.”
The man looks her up and down. There’s nothing odd or leery about the way he’s doing it, but Nova still has to suppress a shudder. After what happened back on Korrus, she’s positive that she doesn’t want any man to perceive her again but her husband. “Mighty generous friend you’ve got there.”
Nova doesn’t know what he’s insinuating, but she doesn’t really want to decode it. “Yes,” she decides on, another short nod punctuating her answer. “Thank you for the food.” With that, she turns on her heel, hurrying back down the street she came from, anxiety bubbling up in her chest from the memory of Bo-Katan.
“Hey!” he calls after her, and Nova’s gut twists, but she doesn’t stop. “Better get out of here before morning rolls around.”
Nova swallows, pressing forward. She has no idea what he’s threatening, but either way, she knows she won’t like the outcome. She makes it back to the center of town where she and Din divided and conquered, peering down the small pathway that leads back to the open air and where they left the roughed up starfighter, trying to see the curves of the ship before the light completely leaves the sky. Nova wants to rush back there and drop the food off, but that strange feeling of being watched is still prickling at her. She looks over the tops of the buildings, slung low on the horizon, trying to figure out what about this place seems so familiar.
Voices from just around the curve behind her startle Nova into action. She exhales, continuing in the opposite direction, eyes moving between any cracks in the buildings, trying to figure out where the elusive fuel post is. Usually, in towns as small as this, they’re closer to the outer ring of the city, for travelers to easily grab what they need, fill their ship, and leave, but nothing about this place seems warm and welcoming. Nova has a sinking feeling that the fuel post is just a pump in some abandoned sector of town. Still, she forges on, tapping at her comm, trying to get a signal.
“Hey,” she whispers, raising her wrist to her mouth, “are you there?” The signal glitches and beeps, tinny feedback radiating off Nova’s wrist. Something in the air keeps tugging her focus back to behind her, even though she can’t hear the voices anymore. Nova swallows, pressing her comm again. “Hey, my big, shiny Mandalorian. Please give me a status update, and a location one, too.” Nova pauses, eyes still searching the buildings that seem deserted and desolate. “I got food,” she tries, “and you were the one who said we need to be quick—”
“Novalise?” The voice comes from behind her, not her comm, and Nova whirls around, flying to the lightsaber on her hip. There’s no one there, but Nova knows the timbre of that voice. It was slightly distorted, strange, the intonation weird, but it sounds so familiar. Nova swallows again, turning around and around, trying to find the source. The town falls eerily quiet again, and Nova presses forward, down in the direction that Din went, trying to find where the fuel post could possibly be.
It’s a few steps later that Nova stops in front of an entirely deserted building, heart hammering in her ears, threatening to drown the buzzing of silence out completely. It’s tall, that’s the first thing she notices. Taller than the other buildings that surround it, and the architecture is dark and cold. Nova inhales, exhales, inhales again. She doesn’t know what it is, but something is pulling her closer to this building’s gravity, and she can’t stop the magnet. Nervously, Nova presses her lips to her comm again. “Where are you?” she whispers, afraid to break the horrible silence.
Nothing comes back in return. Nova looks up at the entrance, and before she can talk herself out of it, she rushes inside, forging on. It’s even darker inside, the kind of blackness that can easily swallow someone up without a trace. Nova shivers, wrapping the warmth of her shawl against her body, hand still clenched over the grip of the lightsaber.
It’s a ghost town in here. Nova looks up, trying to figure out what exactly this building was used for before it fell into this state, but anything telling in the front room has been decimated or wiped from existence. Nova stands in front of a long hallway, ears ringing with how hard she’s trying to listen for Din or for anyone after her, trying to decide which way she should go—left, right, or straight—when she hears something.
It’s nothing. It’s barely anything at all. It’s the sound of water dripping down the hall to her left—so faint that if Nova wasn’t specifically listening for something, she wouldn’t have caught it—and she squares her shoulders before stepping down the hall. In here, the cool metal of the floor out in the lobby is gone, replaced by a dark tile. It goes down farther than Nova can see, and for some reason, the glittering teeth of the grout in between each one is unsettling.
“It’s a creepy building,” Nova reasons with herself, the curve of her lips barely wrapping around each word, trying to stay entirely inaudible, “you’ve been in tons of them before, rebel girl.” As Nova walks, she passes doors that are flung open and other ones locked tight. She peers in some of them, but they’re empty, or there’s nothing in there but a cot and a chair, and she narrows her eyes, that same familiar feeling growing in size as the dripping of the water gets louder. The last door on the left, before the hallway opens up into a massive room plunged into the darkness, is slightly ajar. Against her better judgement, the stubborn, investigative part of Nova takes over. She pushes it open, gritting her teeth against the sound of the old hinge squealing as the door swings into the room.
This one isn’t empty. It’s the first thing Nova notices. She tries to flick on a light switch on the wall beside the door, but there’s no electricity left in the building. Before she can turn on her heel and go back the way she came, Nova ignites the lightsaber. Everything in the close vicinity turns a deep shade of blue. It hurts her eyes, but Nova moves the humming blade over the bulletins on the boards, fingers running over holotables and computing machines. If the electricity still worked, Nova would bet every single credit to her name that this room would be alive with noise.
Something catches her eye. Nova squints, moving over to one of the boards, holding the lightsaber as close as she can to the picture hanging on the wall without burning a hole straight through it. When the face illuminates, Nova has to muffle a gasp and clench her teeth down against her nervous stomach. Wedge. It’s a portrait of Wedge, except he looks about twenty years younger, and that kind light in his eyes isn’t there. His hair is slicked back, his eyebrows set in a cunning, dark way, and the realization of what this place is—and why it seems so familiar—hits her.
This was Empire territory. And the picture of Wedge hanging on the wall was taken before he defected and joined the Alliance, when he was still the Empire’s flyboy. And there’s a bounty below his name, but it’s in a language Nova can’t read. She straightens up, shaking off the chill. This place is the base on Yavin’s antithesis. The setup is the same, but the darkness here is hungry, pulsing, wanting. “I've seen enough,” Nova mutters, and she runs out of the room, intending to head back down to the same hallway from which she came, but then the sound of dripping water rings out, enticing and ominous. Nova blinks the awful image of Wedge out of her vision, and she turns into the last room at the end of the hall.
Nova can’t see the edges of it. Even with the lightsaber held out in front of her like a shield, the room is massive and dark. Dimly, the thought that this entire room is underground, underneath all of the strange buildings, runs through Nova’s mind, as she pushes on, trying to find where the leak is coming from. Something about this place—this room in particular—feels familiar. It’s dizzying and all-consuming, and Nova runs the small swath of blue light over the ground. All around, there’s benches carved up from the concrete, black and sharp. Nova brings the lightsaber around the ground, and she can see a descending pathway, sloping so gradually that she hadn’t even noticed that the ground was on an incline. As she continues down the path, the sound of the water dripping grows stronger and stronger.
It’s a feeling that stops her at the bottom, the stage of the amphitheater sprawled out in front of her. Nova swallows, stepping up and over the lip of the barrier, landing with two feet on the stage. She knows where the water is coming from, and, relieved, Nova runs over to the burst pipe. It must have been gushing out water forever ago, but now it’s only a steady, intentional tap. Nova breathes out in some sort of relief. She doesn’t know what she was expecting to find here. It’s an abandoned Empire building. There’s thousands of them across the galaxy, and this is far from her first rodeo. Nova wipes a clammy hand over her forehead, turning back around, and that’s when it hits her.
Even in the darkness, Nova’s vision bottoms out. She cries before the dream pulls her under, loud and frustrated, and when she’s able to see again, the world filtering back in like a kaleidoscope clicking back into focus, she knows where the dread and the familiarity came from. This is the place that Ladmeny Sparmau pulled her into in the vision when she hurt Din instead, when he woke up with ringlets of bruises around her neck. Nova can see it happening, over and over again—the scissor of Sparmau’s hair, the struggle of Din in the beskar, blood dripping onto the floor, her blood, is it her blood? Nova staggers backwards, violently, thrashing, trying to break out of the vision.
“Novalise.”
She turns. It’s the same voice as before, and Nova’s vision is going starry and unfocused, trying to hone in on who’s speaking, but when she turns, she’s face-to-face in the mirror again, with Andromeda, with her own sanctitude figure.
“What?” Nova manages, the word cracking in half, her voice strange and high. “Why am I here? What do you want?”
Both of them peer into her eyes, and Nova can’t shake the awful feeling that she’s looking at her reflections head-on because she called them here, she broke the space-time continuum, she fell into a black hole. “A warning,” the older vision says, sagely. “A reminder,” Andromeda manages, and Nova closes her eyes.
“I don’t know what you mean,” she cries out, trying to get the water tap to stop dripping, trying to reach her palms out as a divining rod for what’s real.
There’s a voice in her ear, but it doesn't sound like either of them. She’s not Andromeda. She’s not a saint. It’s just Novalise, whispering into her own ear. “Don’t forget how to save everyone. And don’t throw it away.”
Nova hurtles back out of the vision. With a sob rising in her throat, she pushes herself up, running wildly out of the aisle, up the gradual slope of the amphitheater, towards the exit. Nova feels wetness on her face, and then she realizes that she’s crying, breaths staggered and running wild. Up and out of the amphitheater, down the hall, running over the tile with the stark, strange grout, her feet sliding around in her boots. It takes another sprint of energy, a huge one, to propel her out of the hallway and into the strange, ghostly lobby, and Nova runs out of it, her boots banging loudly on the metal floor, back out of the entrance, falling to the strange, rocky ground.
Her ears are ringing. Nova can still register that she’s crying, the tears salty and streaming down her face, but she sucks in air the best she can, hands trembling against the stone, one still clenched around Luke’s lightsaber. It takes what feels like hours for her heart to return to a healthy resting rate, and when Nova stabilizes her breathing, she can hear her comm beeping.
“Nova. Novalise, come in.”
Nova shoots back up into a sitting position, putting her comm to her lips. “Din?” she manages, wiping away her frantic tears, “where are you?”
A strange noise flares through the commlink, and Nova’s blood runs cold when she places it. It’s the awful screech and blasts of the TIE fighters that always seemed to be on their trail.
“Down the road,” Din manages, and Nova can make out the thrum of the Darksaber. “Any chance—fuck—that you can pick me up in the ship?”
Nova stares. “No fuel,” she whispers, her ears buzzing. “But I’m coming. I’m coming right now—”
“Alley,” Din grits out, and then there’s another massive blast, and Nova’s off like the noise was a starting gun, running faster than she ever has, pounding her feet against the stone ground. Wildly, she searches the buildings for the alley Din mentioned, her eyes skipping over the windows and the hollows of the architecture, so dim in the darkness. Nova sobs again, frustration rising in the base of her throat, and then she sees it. It’s barely anything, just a crack between two buildings. Nova can hear the familiar noise of a battle happening around it, and she takes in one harrowing breath before she hurtles down the alley, forgetting how claustrophobic it is, how it feels like the buildings are closing in on her.
The scene on the other side isn’t what she was picturing. There’s no TIE fighters above them, firing giant blasts. It’s a gaggle of stormtroopers, their outfits altered and streamlined, but something small in Nova’s chest relaxes. It’s just stormtroopers. They’ve fought off ten times the amount in front of her, over and over again. Nova’s undetected, and she takes a second to locate Din, who’s having it out with four of them at once. She cracks her neck to the side, then to the other, and then she’s igniting the lightsaber.
She’ll never get tired of the way the blue blade blossoms in front of her. It’s both a war cry and something peaceful, knowing she’s connected to something more—to Luke, to the Force, to something in the galaxy only she can. The troopers look up from Din and charge Nova instead, and she swings the blade around. She still doesn't enjoy it, taking the life out of someone’s eyes, even if they’re evil, even if they’re working with the Order or with Sparmau or with whatever evil Luke’s afraid will resurrect, but using her brute force to do something except to feel haunted feels like she’s coming home. Nova kicks a few of them in the skull, basing two heads together and watching as they go down, unconscious. Two of them charge her next, forgetting Din completely, who’s still fighting valiantly, his hand on the grip of the Darksaber, which isn’t ignited. Nova exhales the breath she’s been holding onto since her comm went off and closes her eyes.
She doesn’t need to see them to stop them. It’s like the Force is using her body as an omen, as something to deliver. When Nova swings, she can sense the two of them, running towards her, and then the lightsaber cuts through armor, down to skin, possibly down to bone, and then the four of them are on the floor. Nova grins, running over to where Din’s standing on the corner of the fight, helmet cocked off to the side, like he’s studying her. “Hi, my love,” she says, the smile still electric on her lips, “feels like old times.”
In response, Din holds up two fuel cans and a metal solvent. “You could say that.”
Nova takes the canister out of his hands, eyes running over the small letters printed in Basic. It’s not a magic fix, and it’s not going to patch up the starfighter for long, but with the hold of the canned substance and with the holdover of the fuel, they can make it to Mustafar. Despite everything, despite the last few minutes she had in the dark, the reflections of her selves in the mirror on the ship, the crash landing, the fact that Bo-Katan is still gone, something in Nova reignites. Her fight is back from the dead.
The two of them run through the cobblestone streets, Mand’alor and Jedi, and no one follows them. Nova matches Din’s steps, the burst of energy from the reawakened force in her bone marrow keeping up the pace. In a handful of minutes, they’re at the ship, which looks considerably less mangled in the dark. Nova sprays the metal fix over the deepest parts of the gash in the side, right next to the underbelly, holding it down until it’s running on empty. Din, silently, is on the other side filling the fuel tank up as much as possible with two measly cans. Wordlessly, both of them make it up the gangplank, and Din stands in the back, holding onto the rack of the exposed armory, breath heavy from the fight and the trek afterwards, and with a grumble and a snap, the starfighter comes back to life.
“We’re coming for you, Bo-Katan,” Nova whispers, the promise intentional on her lip. The engine sputters, but it stays caught and running, and Nova pulls up the nav system.
“Nova,” she hears, but the sound of her fingers on the beacon blinking out Mustafar drowns Din’s voice out.
“Locked and loaded,” Nova mumbles, checking the artillery and the thrusters, both of which, magically, have a little fight left. “We’re not in the best shape, but we’ll get to Mustafar in one piece. And,” she says, excitedly, “Din, I got my fight back. The next step’s flight, which I am working on right now.”
“Novalise—”
“And I got food. Tonight, the Djarin clan will feast like kings.”
“Nova—”
It’s not her name that makes Novalise spin around, heartbeat racketing up, panic a hornet in her chest. It’s the sound of Din dropping down to his knees. Beskar against metal is loud enough to wake a sleeping giant. She punches all the thrusters into autopilot, scrambling out of her seat, crossing over to him as quickly as she can. “Din,” she says, her voice wobbly and distorted, and then he’s swaying, and Nova’s hands are splayed out on his armored body, one on the pauldron on his shoulder, the other on his hip.
And then she feels it. There’s a dagger stuck deep into the tiniest slip in his armor. The handle itself is twisted and black, the same obsidian that Nova fell into back in the Imperial amphitheater. A sob catches in her throat, eyes swarming over the knowledge that the dagger has been plunged in to the hilt, swallowed up by Din’s skin and the beskar, which is slick with so much blood.
“Stay awake,” Nova manages, through blurry tears. Outside, the familiar, chilling screech of TIE fighters explodes out of space. Nova looks frantically between Din, slumped on his knees, and the dashboard, trying to gauge if she can make it there and back to evade the TIE fighters. But there’s blood, Maker, there’s so much blood, and it’s on her hands, everywhere, everywhere, it’s everywhere. They’ve been in harrowing, bloody situations before, but this one rises like bile in her throat. “You hear me? Stay awake, Din. I mean it.”
Nova’s up and running toward the dashboard before she can think on it another second, firing everything into warp that she can. They’re only a parsec or two away, now, and the starfighter can handle that on her own, shuddering and metal heaving aside. She skids back across the floor, on her knees, crawling back to Din, but she’s too late.
The second Nova gets back, Din’s consciousness floods out. “‘M yours, too. Don’t forget—” is all he can manage, and then he’s not propped up on his knees, anymore, he’s passed out midair and he’s hurtling towards the ground before Nova can keep him upright or awake.
The awful, reverberating ring of beskar against the metal floor is the stuff of nightmares. And, what’s even scarier, despite the wet, unhinged way she screams—Nova freezes.

Is that... glitter? - Taeyong
Word Count: 1k words
Warnings: mentions of weapons, someone gets mildly hurt but they just fall over
Authors Notes: third installment in the series!!! i’m having so much fun with this :D idk why but when i was thinking about what to do for taeyong i immediately thought of a mafia au so here we are lol. i hope you like it!! <3
Find the “Christmas with NCT” masterlist here
Tumblr media
how ironic taeyong has a glitter choker on
Saying that Christmas was your favourite time of the year was an understatement. You loved the feelings that came with the holiday, and how everyone seemed to be in a good mood for the entire month. Every Christmas, you would decorate your place as festive as you can, making sure to incorporate as many colours as you could.
This year however, it was a bit different. For one, you weren’t living alone. Not only were you living with your boyfriend Taeyong, but you were also living with 22 other men who were in the same mafia group as your boyfriend.
They went under the name of NCT, and were some of the most feared people known to exist. Stories of their ruthlessness would swarm around people, and in all honesty, you were afraid of them when you first encountered them. The first time you met Taeyong, you were scared by his sharp facial features and piercing eyes, but over time, you began to see the soft look that would cross his face when he saw the younger members playing with each other or while watching the older members playfully bicker with each other.
You moved in with Taeyong around three months ago, and even though you were really intimidated by the black decor and multitude of weapons lining the walls, you immediately fit into the small family that resided there. You became like a mother to the younger members, and even though some of them didn’t express it that much, everyone could tell that they were thankful for you coming into their lives.
When they were all gone for missions, you made it your job to take care and look after the empty base. So when all the members left for a particular mission one day, you took it upon yourself to decorate the base before they returned. You played all of your favourite christmas music, occasionally singing and dancing along to the upbeat tunes. In a couple of hours, the dark and drab base had become a colourful, lit up environment. You were ecstatic at the decorations, and took a picture as a remembrance. After eating dinner, you felt extremely tired so you went to bed early, dreaming of the memories you had from Christmas.
The members all returned early next morning, tired out from the mission that they had. They all groggily made their way back into the house, making their ways into their rooms until they heard a loud “thump” and a groan of pain from Mark who was across the rooms. All the members immediately became alerted, and they all pulled out whatever weapon was accessible at the time, thinking an intruder got in. what they didn’t expect however, was to find the entire house decorated from top to bottom with the most colourful ornaments, wreaths, and any other type of decoration. The members stared at each other in shock, wondering how this all came to be. The only person in the room who had an idea of the culprit was none other than Taeyong. He walked into your shared room, finding you sound asleep on the bed. He lightly chuckled and made his way into the living room, telling the other members how you probably decorated the base. The members looked around in awe, fascinated at the fact that you were able to decorate the whole place in less than a day. Once they finished off ogling at the place, they made their way back to their rooms, only to find little wreaths with their names written on it. You really had thought of everything.
You woke up a few hours later, wrapped up in Taeyong’s embrace. You smiled and placed a small kiss on his forehead, making sure not to wake him up as you got up from the bed and started your day. You made your way into the living room and plugged in all the lights, knowing that they would still be shining bright since most of the sunlight that tried to get into the base was blacked off by the heavy, dark curtains that didn’t allow for any sunlight to be exposed.
After you finished making food for the members, you heard shuffling coming from the living room, followed by excited shouting. You heard 22 feet stomping down the base, and soon the entire building was filled with the commotion of 23 people talking. As soon as you walked into the living room, you were met with a commotion of greetings, the most prominent being “You did all of this?” You widely smiled and explained to them how you loved Christmas and because you were away from your family, you were feeling a bit homesick, so you decided to decorate the base to feel more like home. You saw some of the members share the same reminiscent look in their eyes while the rest nodded to what you were saying. After all the members seemed to get over the initial shock, they all went crazy, running around the entire house to see all the decorations.
Taeyong smiled in appreciation as he saw the younger members run around, looking like five year olds in a candy shop as they ran around, admiring all the bright decorations. The older members seemed more reserved, staring at the glitter decorations in somewhat disgust, but after a while, they warmed up to the environment, taking time to look at all the lights and ornaments. You saw Taeyong look around the base with a serious look, and for a second, you were afraid of him telling you to take it all down. But when he turned around and looked at you, you felt his happiness radiate off of him. He walked over to you and hugged you tightly, mummering a small “thank you” before making his way to where the other members were. You looked around, softly smiling to yourself because of the family that you now had away from home. Watching all the members' faces light up like a child on Christmas day brought so much joy to you, and it made you sure of only one thing. This truly was the most wonderful time of the year.

Ohh I'm glad to see you feel good enough to write again, Bon! 🤗 I understand how off and drained you feel going/getting through a slump like that.
Can you do some hcs with either Bakugou or Kiri (I'll let you pick) and their s.o traveling around in a camper bus/van, please? 🙏🏼 Love you lots!
Ahhhh I love this request! And thank you :) I’m started to feel a lot better mentally and have my friends to help :) hope you enjoy :)
Tumblr media
Bakubabe 😌🤚
Omg
Ok ok ok- he asked you about it after the two of you married
Of course you agreed bc the hell? That’s sound like absolute fun.
So you both decided on getting a small house and a large van, ya know, so when your vanned out you have somewhere to come back too for a while and take a break, ground yourself.
You spent about a year in the small house until you took the van out. It was huge, and you both wanted to be comfortable, so in that year you took the time and money to decorate It and install things, like a sink, bed, and mini kitchen.
And god he loved it so much, we are talking about a man who doesn’t like big crowds and prefers to just be with people he knows and is comfortable with.
And omg he loves that it’s with you. It feels like breath of fresh air for him, like a break. He can be himself and relax.
The places you visit are places you both agree on. You take turns driving while the other it asleep in the passenger or bed. He loved listening to his toons while he drives and you snooze away next to him. He sneaks glances at every red light or stop sign or just while driving and thinks to himself that he is the luckiest person to be doing this with you
I also love to think of this as a honey moon idea. Like, you guys didn’t have one bc you were both hero’s and life was busy. So when you both settled down, finished the van and were able to take leave for a while, so took this as your chance.
So for a couple months you two went all around Japan. Rural areas, especially with mountains. Not just for mountain climbing but the drive was so calming. He loved when you both would park up there for the night, get out the Hamics and lay under the stars.
He would say the stars are beautiful but he just can’t get his eyes off his even more stunning wife / husband / partner
Like I said, he can be himself and more relaxed, and I definitely think this guys got a soft side. He can be a jerk, but I feel like since he feels he has to keep this ruff exterior all the time, that when he can let go, he’s much more calm and caring.
He smiles a lot more, is very snuggly and affectionate, oh so affectionate
Loves visiting small town because no one there really reconizes you two, but maybe have a few fans here and there.
Overall I DEFINITELY believe this is something he would enjoy. I think of him as a homebody, the only time he really likes going out is for hero work, the rest is just wanting to relax at home with the people he loves. So it’s surprising that this was his idea, but not so much when he literally made the camper your second home, so he can still feel like he somewhere to let go :)
And don’t think I would forget the van pet.
Definitely something like a snake for him, idk why but if it where a dog I feel like it might be too jumpy and energetic for him, unless the dog go is chill and well trained. So yes, a snakadoodle will do for this ash-blond :)
Tumblr media
Kiripima🥺✨
Also someone who suggested it
I can see this boy loving to go out often, but don’t get me wrong, staying in is also something he enjoys with you, especially with the calm atmosphere
And obviously you said yes! Who wouldn’t want to spend a road trip with this cutie?
Like with bakugou you both agreed on at least getting a small house or apartment first. It took a bit of convincing bc he was so exited to do it with you, so you had to slow him down and be like- mans, we broke- let’s get out shit together first yeah?
Poor kiri gave you puppy eyes, you had to hold back though bc you would not live In just a van as your first home together
He finally understood and agreed, but he’s still hyped as fuck about the idea
I feel like this would be before you got married? Your engaged and the idea of finally being with you forever is hitting him hard and his heart is doing flips and ahhhh he just can’t wait
You two would have a year before you got married so you decided on a small house and got a van that was already fixed with a bed and small kitchen and such, though adding your own touched of course too
You’d do the trip for a couple months a week before the big day. Ya know, cause you aren’t allowed to see each other days before the wedding or som? So why not
His favorite is driving too. But when your driving. He has all the time to spend to look out the window at the amazing views and at you :) he can’t get enough that this is happening and the trip makes it real for him
Loves stopping at gas stations to get trinkets like magnets or something to mark where you two have visited. Will have them stuck to the fridge and stuff so they can be displayed.
You two have been all around Japan, in different cities, small Townes and rural areas. He loves parking on the side of the road at a deserted place and camping out for a while, relax, stretch and take a much needed break after driving for so long. Will get out of the van to go and open your door to let you out, first thing ache does every time is pull you close and kiss you, telling you how much he loves you and massaging your shoulders from being cramped in the small space fore so long.
Will definitely take the wheel when needed. He likes it better when you drive of course, but if he noticed your getting sleepy or irritated he will have you pull over so you can switch
Van pet is definitely a doggo- had to be clam during rides but energetic to match his nature and to go out so it can hike with you two, throw a ball for it to chase or anything really.
He definitely loves it. He likes that he can spend the time with you and only you, going out and being adventurous with you and going to new places and meeting new people and doing new things. Can’t get enough of the smile on your face and just how much fun he’s having traveling :)

Hi everyone! It’s been some crazy few months for me. Real life has taken over completely so I didn’t have a chance to pay attention to my inbox. There are lot of asks on troubleshooting and I apologise for not being able to help on time. I hope everyone who needed help has got it somehow >.< There’s a crazy amount of messages, so I’m going to hide it under the cut.

Hi Criquette, I’m sorry because this is dumb, but I don’t understand how to install your neighbourhood lighting mod on an installation of Ultimate Collection... do I change out every lighting.txt file I can find across all the expansion and stuff packs? :/
Thank you!!!!
Hi @shutupshirley! I’m not a big specialist on windows version of TS2 and UC but I believe there are two folders you have to look at and they are ‘Fun with Pets’ and ‘Open for Business’

What do you imagine residents of Feverfew are called? I keep doing Peruvian but like Ferfewian or some
Oh, yes, I was thinking about this matter at some point! Feverfewian is what I came up with. I even found a wiki article about different names for different town inhabitants to sort of made it up a bit, but I haven’t write down the result I had and now I’ve lost it. I think feverfewians sounds best, it can even have some silly derivatives like ‘fewies’

Hi Criquette, I'm getting into SC4 and have been getting the hang of it while using the sims 2 hood planner. I've been starting to use bridges and have been using yours. When I put in the tile measurement into the hood planner (ex: 15 tile = 8 in SC4), it doesn't exactly line up in game. Does this usually happen for you and you put in a piece of fake road in the middle or am I just doing it wrong and it should line up super nicely? Thank you for all your wonderful creations!
Hi @3sushiroll! Yes, TS2 parses SC4 roads this way. I always put some decorative road in the gap or I make the shores narrower so that the bride would overlap the road. But to make slopes where the road ends equal, you have to use TS2 terraforming tool to make this flat empty piece of terrain right after the road end into slope so that it would look like the opposite.

Hi there, hope you're doing well! I downloaded your simple walkways set and noticed that they float. They don't sit on the ground properly. Is there anything I can do on my end to make them sit closer to the ground? Any help would be appreciated, thank you!
Hey anon! Thank you! Yes, this old set of walkways was made this way. Maxis made neighborhood mode roads float, so I had to do the same with road related decorations. But now you can use these Cobblestone paths or side walks from the Rural Charm, they’re as close to the ground as possible.
Anonymous said:
hey! would it ever be possible for you to create recolors of the cobblestone sidewalks in red brick/cobblestone?
Hi anon! I don’t think so :| I can’t even find the time to fix some Ferverfew related issues >.<

Hi Criquette. I liked Feverfew very much. I would like to make some of the houses multi-unit, keeping your doors in place. Is it possible to add the function of apartments to these doors? :)
Hi nonne! As far as I’m aware, you can only default replace those apartment doors which is quite useless. What you can do, is to put an apartment door right behind the front door. This, obviously, would eat up the space but could work as a solution.
Anonymous said:
Hello! I just downloaded Feverview and it's gorgeous! I can't believe all the little details you added, the effort and love you put into this project is incredible. I just had a small question: a few residential lots are fake apartments, I was wondering if you know how to turn them into functional apartments
Hi anon! I’m glad you liked Feverfew! ^__^ In theory, you can use SimPE or Lot Editor to change lot type from residential to apartment and then implement apartment doors somehow, but since I don’t have AL in my Super Collection, I have zero experience in that.
Anonymous said:
Hi Criquette! :) I just realized recently that if I delete objects in game, I have to delete first the recolors of it. I've already deleted a bunch of objects without knowing about this, so now my downloads folders has houndreds of recolors without meshes. Do you know about anything I can do to find and delete these orphans? (Delphys download organizer just can't make difference)
Hi anon! I’m definitely not a helper on the matter of keeping Downloads folder organised, sorry ^^’‘ I would thing about finding sets of files with similar names keeping eye on the absence of the word ‘mesh’ in the names, and looking at the file size at the same time. And that would take ages, obviously.
@ardyyy4 said:
Hello Criquette. I love Feverfew so much. But I have a problem. The grass and NHood objects are flickering together and it looks bad. How can i fix it? Thanks.
Hello Arda! That’s because of the neighborhood camera you’re using. I’d recommend you to install this particular camera just to get rid of flickering.
Anonymous said:
Hello! First of great content! Always been a fan! I was wondering if you could give a bit of advice with hood deco, I have downloaded an Ocean floor from Gwenke, and in lot view it only shows up at the very far edges, around my lot it is missing (it does show when render is set to small though). And it shows on beach lots too, I was wondering if you know of way to make it so that it is seen no matter what the view distance is etc? (I have the relevant cheats on btw) Thank you in advance!
Hey nonnie! Thanks :) Have you ticked off object hiding in the settings? Other than that, it could be camera issues.
Anonymous said:
is there a way to stop neighborhood decor from fading? I know there is the „boolprop dontmergenhflora“ cheat, but I still get some fading. for excample when I look at the lot from the street the NH decor by the street fades
That’s definitely sounds like object hiding option from the game settings :}
Anonymous said:
Hey how are you ? I hope all is well. I was wondering how is it that ts2 has no ski deco but in ts1 we had ski slope and skate lake !?? I was wondering can you and the sim community make deco or interactive items such as a ski slope or even snow shoes or just something that goes with seasons n BV pack ?
Hello anon! I hope you’re well too! Ski slope and winter sports related decos is something I wanted to make since 2016, but never had enough time to do so. Sometimes I even think about available TS2 technologies to make an animated ski lift and umm.. may be in the next ten years? ^^’‘

hello!! i'm sorry if u already answered something like this (i searched but found nothing) but the better nightlife isn't working for me :(( i put the better nightlife+voielle water on download fold and the decorations still flashing in pink light, i did something wrong? (i use win10) sorry for the inconveniente
Hey anon! Sometimes you have to do these weird steps in order to make it work:
remove Better Nightlife + water mod from your downloads folder,
load the game, load the neighborhood, make some changes, exit game
put Better Nightlife with water back. Toggle day/night with ‘L’ key to see if it works. If it’s not, than the problem is somewhere else. Pink flashing also could be unrelated to Better Nightlife, so I’d recommend to check TS2 graphics setting for Win10 manuals available.

Hello there, I'm having a problem with the rural charm, on lot view the roads have yellowish boards (idk how to explain exactly). I saw that was because of CuriousB terrain, but I don't have it downloaded anymore so I'm kinda confused. What should it be? Sorry for bothering,,,
Hello, anon! What’s current season you’re having in your game? It can be the season lighting differences that make roadside and terrain grass colors different. If it’s not, I’d check the Downloads folder to see if there’s still some terrain DRs I’ve forgot about.
@pinkflamingosims said:
Hi criquette! I was wondering if you have any idea why some hood deco cc crashes on mac, like palm 1 to 4 from the tropical 4t2 set by leoz94. Leoz94 says the only difference is the high polycount, but I don't think that's it, it looks a bit high to me but not insanely so, I have  other stuff in that range with no problem... Have a nice - evening?
Hey @pinkflamingosims! I hope you’re doing well! Yes, some hood decos are really make the game crash and frankly speaking, I think that’s jsut package related issues like broken references in the resource tree. The best way to fix this type of hood decos is to make a clean and stable new clone and replace mesh/textures again.
Anonymous said:
Hello and thank you for amazing Feverfew map! I have a problem... ground is flashing red and I cannot fix it, do you have solution for this problem? It's been soooo long when I last played Sims 2 so apparently I did something wrong when installed CC. :(
Hello anon! Thank you! Oh, red flashing could be the result of lighting mod not being installed correctly. I’d start with getting rid of any lighting mods to see if it helps.
@marv61 said:
Hi Criquette. I just downloaded your terrain of Forkshire, it looks great! I know it has been since 2009 that you uploaded the terrain but I was wondering if you have a completed Neighborhood with houses, trees and all for download? I would love to play your version. Thanks.
Hi Patchman! Oh, goodness no! :D That was 12 years ago, those TS2 files are long gone since then.
Anonymous said:
Hi Criquette, first things first, I love your work thank you so much, you inspire me! Now the question: I have been using the dirt roads from your Rural Lanes set and found that sometimes it is difficult if not impossible to fit them to the slopes of steep terrain. Would it be possible to instead create road pieces as a texture like your Neighborhood Decals? That way they would "stick" onto the terrain regardless of shape. Wondering what you think? Love!
Hello and thank you, anon! The problem with the decals – we can’t see it in lot mode yet. And it must be a DR only so we’d have to ditch one of the Maxis’ decals for dirt road, which isn’t great too.
Anonymous said:
Hi Criquette! Will Betternightlife mod ever be updated to work with lighting mods with dawn and dusk? Is there any that already works with it? I really want to use the light up hood decos!
Hey anon! You can use it with lighting mods that add dusk and dawn to the game. For instance, there’s one here by @dreadpirate.
Anonymous said:
Hey Criquette! I recently used your template to make lit-up hood deco buildings using the Better Nightlife mod. The day text was great! However, the night texture was being clipped by the day texture. That is, some parts of the day texture was showing through the night texture. Is there a fix for this?
Hello nonnie! I’d recommend to check the meshes to see if day/night parts clip through each other and if they aren’t I’d check if all the day/night TXMT data is correct.
@criquette said:
I've installed Fewerfew following all your istructions. Apparently it works but the night lamps are flashing pink even ig I've installed the mod better night light. It seems that this mod does not work properly. Any recommendation?
Being Criquette, you should know the solution to that issue yourself :P Just kidding, sorry, couldn’t resist! If it flashes pink only by night than you have to check your ‘Downloads’ folder for conflicts. If it’s flashing constantly day and night, than I’d better check graphics setting using some windows related guides available across the Internet.

Hello, I love Feverfew and it's amazing. I have a problem where Linden Tree 1A isn't showing up in my game even though it's in my downloads folder. Also the railroad tracks are flashing blue, and those are in my folder too. Thanks in advance!  :)
Hello anon! What type of the trees you’re using? Stand alone or default ones? If you’re using defaults, you can find the trees under Maxi’s oaks accordingly. As for the flashing blue railway tracks, check if you have this set in your ‘Downloads’ folder :)
Anonymous said:
Hello Criquette, before asking for help, I came to say that the Brazilian community loves your creations. But, to get to the point, anyway, I have been thinking about creating a Hood (inspired by Rio de Janeiro), so I would like to know how to create Deco Hoods for my game (the statue of Christ), I can't find that anywhere, Would you help me?
Hi there! Ah, most kind, thank you ^^ Well, there’s no big deal in creating hood decos. You have to switch your SimPE to advanced mode and after that neighborhood decoration will be visible in the catalogue to be cloned. I assume you already know how to make lot mode objects and know how to create, edit or convert meshes/textures though.
@hideshio said:
Hello! I found your train set (and it's AMAZING) on mts and was wondering if you had a railroad crossing sign? With the lights, X, and the red/white hand that goes down. Or the lights that go across a pole above the railroads. Thank you!  =D
Hello @hideshio! Well, there is a railway crossing sign with lights and red/white hand included in this set :D it’s not animated though. But still!

Hi criquette, I’m a huge admirer of you work and I was wondering if you had any advice regarding road placement. Specifically the difficulty of road pieces that are deco only being able to be placed underneath the actually roads leaving it looking a little off.. if there a way to raise them higher before placing them or some kind of work around?
Hey anon, thank you! Unfortunately, there’s no way to make decorative road pieces work for lot mode and neighborhood mode at the same time. If you lift them so they look okay in hood mode, they will float in the air in lot mode. Since my latest creations are lot mode oriented, I’ve decided to save my efforts on making road pieces even with neigborhood mode roads.

Hey Criquette. I noticed that in my Feverfew none of the buildings across the street of Feverfew Sports Hall show up. I know those are supposed to be hood deco and look like duplex buildings, but I can't figure out what I'm missing. I deleted and redownloaded everything and couldn't fix it. Also the river ends at the first bridge in front of the cathedral, so the boats next to it appear to be flying. What is going on?
Hey anon! There’s definitely some files missing. If you’ve checked and redownloaded all the files, try to replace the Feverfew neighborhood folder with initial one. The game never restores disappeared hood decos by itself. Even if they were placed in the folder after their absence is discovered.
@simping-simmer said:
Hi Criquette, am I remembering correctly that there is a trick you can do with SimPE to change the height of individual pieces of hood deco? I’m struggling with putting ships in my dock because if I change a CC ship’s placeability to be able to be on both land and sea, it just sinks, but if I only keep it on sea, it can’t get close enough to the shore to place it in my docks. Does this make sense at all? Lol
Hello @simping-simmer, you’re absolutely right. You can change the height of placed hood decos via SimPE. Things you need to do are described here and here
Anonymous said:
Hello! I love all your work.  I was wondering if you had ever thought of making some desert roads along the lines of the Terrain Mod: Dusty Roads for Desert Neighbourhoods by Stev84? I love the way this looks in my desert, but unfortunately, this mod makes the road in live mode a floor, which then makes you unable to place driveways.
Hey anon! Thanks ^^ Frankly, I don’t have any plans on creating any desert related CC at all :|

Hello Criquette. I would like to thank you for all the amazing work you have done creating content for sims 2. Thanks to you all my projects are possible. My question is: Chainlink fences for neighborhood deco... Do they exist? Searching the web these past day only found for build mode. Do you know of someone who already make some for deco hood? Or kindly will you be able to make some if its not much work? My sports fields and Industrial zones will be pleased for sure! Once again, thank you! :)
Hey anon and thank you! I don’t think hood deco chainlink fences were created by someone yet, but they definitely would be a great addition to the game. I was going to create some while working on Feverfew, but never had enough time to do that. May be i’ll make one at some point in the future!

Hello, Criquette. Do you know of any way to place lots without the area around it moving? I downloaded Ousmeo's remake of your Dullsfielde and read his og post using the waytime machine. When viewing that post, Tumblr recommended similar posts, one of which seemed to be a tip to prevent good deco from moving when placing lots nearby, but that post wasn't archived, so I can't visualise it. My guess is that if anyone else knows about this, it must be the best hood decorator that ever was ;-)
Hello anon! Ugh, this TS2 ‘feature’ is driving me mad quite often too! Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to get rid of it. The only way to fix the consequences is to backup initial hood folder and when you finish placing lots, replace spoiled terrain with the initial one with SimPE or HoodReplace.

He first noticed you when you did not make fun of him with his class representive struggles. He liked that you where out going funand that you helped everyone else in class 1-A! But his favorite thing about you was that you where extremely positive. He liked that, a lot. You where always smiling so brightly. He once asked why where you so positive and why did you always smile. “A smile can open many doors to you and if you are positive you will get positive energy back.” You answered with a big sunny smile.
Some time past by and you grew close to the blue haired boy,so close that you might have a crush on him! He noticed that you liked to read books and that is how you found yourself sitting next to him on the bus ride to training camp. You where talking about this book that you really liked it was called “The happiness” It was a physchology book.
Soon enough you arrived at the place, everyone was confused because they just saw a forest in front of them. The Wild,Wild Pussy cats took everyone by surprise and you arrived with your class by late afternoon. You where hungry and tired after fighting those rock mutant things that Pixie pop made using her quirk. After getting comfortable in the installations and almost getting caught naked by the little pervert you thought that you had had enough of an adventure for today.
You woke up at 5 Am to start training and after what seemed like a year you had to make your own food? You where a little upset because you where sure you where exhausted. But it all changed when Iida encouraged everyone to make the best curry in the whole entire world following with that you thought that your friends needed another encourage to really start working, and you where completely right. You where having so much fun and then suddenly it all went wrong!
Nobody could believe it, you where being attacked! You started fighting the villains when you where allowed to but it all felt short you got hit and you where now badly injured. At the moment Iida realized how much you meant to him. How this couldn’t be the end of your friendship, he wanted to make you smile more, whanted to talk about all the fun books you like, help you with homework and see how your eyes light up when you finally understood, he wanted to be with you in your ups and downs, at that moment he realized that he wanted to be together with you forever! He wanted to hug you kiss you and all that cute stuff.
But that this wasn’t the time to think about all that stuff. You where in the ground shaking and all cold. He rushed to you to protect you, to keep you with him while he can. “Please Y/N don’t go just yet! I hadn’t realized how much you mean to me! I want to see you mile again.” Sadly they took you away from him. You where being dragged to the hospital so the doctor could take care of you.
Soon you woke up and to your surprise Iida was next to you. “Y/N you woke up!” “Hello Iida, yes thankfully I am awake, how are the others?”
You asked him with that sunny smile of yours. After all the talking between you and him he finally said “In the camp when I saw you on the floor, the world made me realized how much you mean to me.” you looked at him confused when you where about to speak he started and yelled “Y/N I LIKE YOU A LOT PLEASE HO OUT WITH ME!” With a blushing face you answered his question with a nice ans sunny “yes, I like you a lot to Iida”

you’ve all wanted it, and i’m not ready to go to sleep yet, so here’s the latest installment of the sonic underground rewatch!
episode 6 thoughts under the cut!
• unrelated to the episode but there was some lego ninjago commercial that showed like. non-lego versions of the main characters and it looked nice. don’t know if it was for a show or the website idk i wasn’t paying attention • [GUITAR RIFF] SONIC- • i will literally never get tired of the opening theme and you can’t change my mind, i would die for a remaster of this. it doesn’t even have to be a cover. gimme a live performance and i will cry • “tangled webs”. spider concerns already • ooh, swatbot factory. interesting • manic just slid down a little rocky hill on his ass and that’s gotta hurt • sonia stop shining that laser pointer in manic’s eyes you’re gonna kill him • “switch six, switch six...” reminded me of the fun fact that your brain can only identify numbers up to a maximum of 4 or 5 at a glance, i forget which. but like... notice how if you only look at something very briefly you wouldn’t be able to immediately know “oh there’s 27 objects there” but you can very quickly identify 1-4 • sonia stop hitting manic with the drone what is wrong with you • some of these background characters are passable and some of them are hideous, there’s no in-between
Tumblr media
• oh it’s the lion boy!! his voice is weird but it’s him!! • god dingo’s face is all kinds of fucked up in this close up as he’s talking • why is robotnik’s cape flowing so far behind him when he’s walking at a somewhat slow pace • i find it funny when eggman’s henchmen mock him when he’s not around, but i didn’t expect sleet to do that • “intruder .8 kilograms? what?? • how does it weigh a drone that is hovering in mid-air • somehow dingo identifies the drone as being piloted by sonia despite it being a hunk of metal with cameras on it • dingo being or looking like in the case of my headcanon a grown man and slobbering over sonia is kinda freaky (it’s partially why i made the hc so it’s less yikes but it’s still uncomfortable and i’m definitely gonna tone it down because fuck) • sleet don’t hit him!! • sonia is clearly frustrated during her conversation with manic (he’s being reckless as fuck) but the animators decided to give her a dead eyed smile for the whole scene • i wonder how they made the mechanical sounds? like the electronic shweeshweeshwee of the robots walking or the whoosh of doors opening? foley stuff is fascinating to me and i wanna know if they had to do any weird shit
Tumblr media
• sleet is monologuing about how he hears the pitter patter of manic’s little feet and oh my god his eyes • how is dingo sneaking up behind manic he’s so fucking huge and noisy • sleet says “sylvia” before whacking the drone out of the air with what looks like an entire swatbot he just sort of picked up? i don’t get the reference and since when is he so strong • okay in the next shot it’s just an arm but still • “sometimes you just have to get their attention”? • cool transition between scenes with the camera glitching and shutting down from the perspective of the drone, that’s neat • dingo picks up sonia but wasn’t he just behind manic? once again the pacing is confusing me • “oh, ick” me too sonia • manic and sonia are tied up and were but in gigantic chairs and it looks so funny • “now, sarah” okay i get the “sylvia” thing now, sleet’s just forgetting sonia’s name somehow • sonia says “twit-face” and i feel like she could be more clever than that • “whatever, sophia” • “where’s sonic!?” [NYOOM] • sonic’s voice sounds... really weird, is that what jaleel white sounds like when he isn’t trying to sound all nasally and shit? also he burps and it’s gross • god the movement in this scene is very janky in general • sonia starts lecturing sonic but gets interrupted by a laser blast and manic pipes in like “can we talk about this later?” • sonia strong • is sonic just spilling lava everywhere??? • you’d think there’d be more sounds here • “am i good or what?” feels like it was pulled from satam? • “you’re insufferable” “thank you” • sonia’s voice is so shrill jesus christ • i feel like this is a pretty good confrontation of how sonic not working as a team with the other two can cause pretty significant problems • sonia i don’t think robotnik would throw you in prison, that’s what the roboticizer is for and i don’t think he’d keep y’all separate from that • cyrus does a weird double take and i think it’s an animation error • this cyrus kid is pretty sus- who is this hippie dude- • CYRUS SUS CYRUS SUS • there was deadass just a normal animal bird with some kind of accessory on its neck as a background character • damn it cyrus • SONG TIME??? • apparently no • once again manic and sonia are tied up which lasts 2 seconds • aosth slow-mo beam, purple flavor • what are these background characters they’re so ugly • OH NO I REMEMBER WHAT SANCTUARY IS NOW • children... i’d love to see the tiny babes but they’re undoubtedly ugly as fuck • ROBOTNIK WANTS TO MURDER CHILDREN • one of the kids looks like reptar • SONG TIME NOW • why is this so. idk, whimsical? idk how to describe this but i already don’t like it • they forgot to draw manic’s head quills in a shot • why is cyrus looking so pissed at these children • sounds like a weird off brand christmas song. don’t like it very much but i guess it isn’t bad. maybe a 2/10 • sdnjksg assaulting your siblings with a cloud of flour sounds fun if not wasteful but still, manic seems to be enjoying his little tech demo • sonia says “this place is gross” and manic goes “hey, you’re talking about my childhood home” and i think it’s a good thing that the show didn’t just forget where they all came from and how this can create very minor conflict between them? like manic and sonia seem to slight each other rather frequently when it comes to sonia’s attitude towards dirty places and manic finding it comfortable there due to familiarity even if it wasn’t all that good. i can relate to that • sonic walks off the right side of the screen after refusing some goggles then. pops up and puts on the shades again? i don’t get it • oh my god sonic knocks cyrus (and manic by extension) over and they literally just. rotate the asset in place and leave them planking. there wasn’t a water splash or change of pose or anything • how does sonic zoom past a swat bot looking directly at him without triggering any alarms? why didn’t it notice him • why are there so many regretful traitors on this show • how does sonic not notice the clearly a hologram man in front of him • god the animation in this episode in general is abyssmal • ah jeez manic and sonia have been captured again • “attention sonic hedgehog” • OH NO CYRUS’ DAD but the expression he made in response to seeing him roboticized killed it
Tumblr media
• i know he didn’t snort here but i can feel the little “snrk” sound here. it was at this moment he knew he fucked up • PULL THE LEVER, SLEET • that little drone thing is fucking insane, it melted the entire roboticizer?? • i much prefer when background characters resemble actual animals • aww hug • poor cyrus :( • GOD SONIC AND SONIA SIT DOWN TO COMFORT HIM BUT MANIC LAYS DOWN ALL DRAMATIC JUST SMILING, READ THE ROOM BUD-
