First anon here :)
What I meant with the 2 days later title card was simply it was a weird cop out and there are just so many unanswered questions that left me personally really disappointed. Now I know s4 and s5 go together, there are obviously things unanswered. However nobody but Dustin reacting to Eddie's death? Absolutely disgusting, we could have finally had an emotional Steve and Dustin moment but nope. Also I wanted to see their reactions to Max and how they got out of the UD. It was so underwhelming, all the theories what could have happened in vol 2 were so good but we got this lame ass time jump. I'm not even mad that Eddie died really, I'm in the minority with this one because I saw it coming and tbh I'm not overly attached to his character. Also the time skip just shows ST is more action based than actually letting the characters breathe and process their emotions in a normal, human way. Everybody, but Dustin, Lucas and El were smiling goofing around as if not two of their friends just died it was so weird to watch.
As for Steve and his plotline this season I wouldn't even be so mad at Stancy if his other relationships wouldn't have suffered because of it. They forced this in such an uncomfortable way I had to skip certain scenes lol. It's a crime we got a Eddie/Dustin hug before Steve/Dustin one, simply because the writers made Steve so mad at being the babysitter this season in favor of Stancy. Robin, Steve's bestie, pushing Nancy to persue Steve while knowing she has a bf and was also probably aware how badly things ended, was literally so OOC just for some Stancy time. Then Nancy jumping in before Robin, so Eddie could give his true love speech to Steve while we both know Robin is Steve's platonic bestie, but the relationship had to be watered down for the dead ship. Those are the reasons why I had a huge problem with it, they could have incorporated Stancy without fucking up Steve's greatest relationships.
I get Steve's perspective, she was his first love and I get why he said what he said to her in a moment of grave danger. What I don't get is Nancy not shutting it down immediately, this girl, in my opinion, never truly loved him the way he did and his dream of a huge family is her biggest nightmare. So why did she kept flirting with him while she has a boyfriend? I'm just sick of this war between the two guys which ended in s2 and was completely unnecessary to revive. Let Nancy be single next season lol.
Like you said it didn't make sense because Steve's arc in s3 was all about getting over her and moving on. I thought they would continue this trend by him realizing okay he doesn't need romantic love in order to happy, that he can form meaningful platonic relationships and be satisfied. Maybe even figure out his future, college plans etc instead he moved backwards. If Stancy is endgame after s2 I'm going to sue the Duffers lol.
As for shipping the kids in general, I never meant the chill shippers. I ship Lumax, I think they are cute and I hope they get their happy end. I was talking about the people my age and older who absolutely go overboard with it. I've seen people having small meltdowns over ships, fearing what would happen if their ship doesn't become canon. This is extremely concerning to me because those are still 14 year old kids you need to calm down a bit.
All in all the vibes of the fandom are kinda off, tumblr is still the superior social media site tho. Twitter and especially tiktok are the fucking worst let me tell you. The amount of bad takes and gross mischaracterisation of our beloved characters I've seen there made me sick. Especially when it comes to Steve, the people on tiktok really want him dead. Vol2 was out for a few days and we already got Steve dying theories. Mostly they are about oh Stancy is not going to be endgame so Steve has to die to resolve the love triangle plus he has nothing else going on (not my take). Or they theorize after the time jump he isn't needed as the babysitter anymore might as well just die. Meanwhile the Duffers confirmed next season we get to see Dustin grieving Eddie, why tf would they kill off Steve, Dustin's other big brother figure? The Duffers love Dustin they wouldn't do this to him. And to reduce Steve to just the babysitter when Dustin and Max view him as more than that is so disgusting. Okay I'm gonna stop now lmao I got way too heated with this.
Ohhhh okay, my bad, duh I should’ve known what that meant lol. Thank you for clarifying though!!
Yeah, I think the time jump was a little…. Unfulfilling? Underwhelming? Idk what to call it exactly, but to go from the intense chaos and carnage of everyone fighting vecna to just “lol here’s two days later, no we won’t elaborate about anything that happened in those two days”, that was frustrating. It would have been honestly more realistic to see someone else other than Dustin mourn Eddie, for sure. I know going through every character individually would have taken a bit, so I get not doing that, but they couldn’t show how Steve Nancy and Robin felt after reuniting with Dustin only to find him holding Eddie’s body? Idk maybe they thought that would’ve been too emotional or something, but it hasn’t stopped them from making us weep over deaths and loss before lol so….. yeah. I agree with you, that could’ve been handled a lot better.
As far as Eddie’s death, i feel similarly, aside from personally i just got super attached to his character like a lot of fans bc he was just so easily likable. But, you’re right, it was pretty obvious where they were going with it! I didn’t understand why some people were acting as if this blindsided them— upsetting? Yes absolutely, but it was set on a direct crash course to that outcome since e1 of this season.
The way everyone acted after losing Eddie and losing Max only to get her back hanging by a thread, I can understand the frustration seeing only a few characters upset, but also people do mourn in different ways. And maybe that’s a reach from me to assume the writers would go that in depth with characters’ emotions, but if we’re being real here, lots of folks mourn differently for an endless list of reasons. Some of them might have mourned in private, some might have bottled it up completely. Maybe I’m projecting; when a childhood bff lost their sibling when we were teens, we went to the funeral and cried and mourned but immediately after, my friends wanted to go bowling. It was a little jarring but that was when I realized people mourn in so many different ways. Sometimes people need distractions as they process emotions. That’s totally valid, but I wish they would have at least insinuated that they mourned in their own ways. Idk.
I can imagine Steve would have felt he had to hold it together for the kids’ sakes, y’know? He does everything he can to be strong for them, even when he acts like babysitting is a nuisance and a drag. But, of course, I could be reaching like I said lol. Either way, there should have been more signs of loss among more characters, not just a few.
Also yeah, I definitely agree it was odd how they kept pushing Stancy, even when Robin knew how hard that all hit Steve, and how far he came from the breakup. But at the same time too I wonder if it just had something to do with whatever pull the UD might have over them? That’s probably so far fetched and I could be reaching to try and justify it lol but idk. Still, really odd.
AND SERIOUSLY!! At this point Nancy needs to just be on her own. She clearly doesn’t know what she wants, and whether that’s due to trauma messing with her emotions or god knows what, this back and forth between Steve and Jonathan is getting old, and it’s not fair to just reduce those two down to “who will Nancy pick!!!” when their characters are so much more than just that. I agree, I don’t think Nancy loved Steve the way he loved her either. Personally, I loooooved Nancy and Jonathan’s characters so much this season, and I realized it was because they were apart. Not that I want them to break up for the show to continue pushing Stancy, but to me they’re insufferable as a couple, and clearly neither of them are fully happy or okay. They could use a break from each other imo, but not just for anyone to fill the void with anyone else’s company.
I didn’t even mind that they continued with Steve’s antics of always being a major flirt, and him regaining confidence to date again, even if it’s all casual stuff. It was a nice sign of normalcy imo, not that him being alone would be abnormal, but idk to me it felt like a continuation of part of his character, and the growth of him realizing he didn’t need romance with Nancy. Idk. I agree with you though, they should’ve continued to focus on his own growth and could have taken it in soooooo many more directions that didn’t involve trying to rekindle Stancy. I hope it’s not endgame too lol. I love their characters separately, but like with how I feel about Jancy, I feel similarly about Stancy. It’s unnecessary and these characters all have so much to offer on their own and in platonic relationships, idk why romance has to be pushed with everyone, especially those three. Longing for an ideal love for each of their situations? That i get. But this constant back and forth between the two ships is so tiring lol.
And my bad if I worded that weird as far as the kids go!! Listen, I’m a sap for some of the sweet and wholesome Mileven moments throughout the show, so I get it. Same with Lumax, and honestly even Dustin and Suzie are precious and I love the nerdy, long distance bond between the two of them. But when people go off the rails for ships with the kids, it’s…….. concerning. You’re absolutely right. They’re all are or are around 14 and to be a grown ass adult violently fighting strangers on the internet for a ship that that isn’t canon or is unpopular……. Is weird. To say the least. And I will say this: as far as Byler goes, I can understand younger fans wanting a mlm pairing they could relate to and feel some sort of representation from, but if you’re 18+ sending death threats to others over this ship, or any ship, it’s extremely concerning for sure. They’re kids. And I agree that Will is definitely not straight, that’s clear as day, but when adults our age are so intensely involved in a ship involving children, any children and any paring, it’s just weird. It doesn’t sit right with me at all.
Tumblr definitely is the best bet out of all of them as far as fandom communities go, I definitely agree. Somehow this clusterfuck hellsite has become the best experience on the internet for social media again lmao, never thought I’d say that but, it’s a lot nicer here than most everywhere else. Still, no matter where you go, there will be fans who take things too far, unfortunately. Also that’s honestly gross that people on TT are acting that way?? Like what in the fucking world? I stay far away from fandom shit on there, unless it’s something like silent hill where there’s maybe 10 fans on the entire site lmaoooo. Anyway.
I agree, and I felt that way too when we were waiting for vol. 2 and we were all worried about Steve. That’s when I realized they had to be playing it up, but of course it’s not like I knew for sure till the finale dropped, but I kept wondering if they’d be that cruel to leave Dustin abandoned if both Eddie and Steve died, or if one died this season and the other the next. I’d like to believe they wouldn’t do that, but like I always say, I could be wrong lol. I’d hope they wouldn’t give two older brother type figures just to rip them both away in the end. That’s too much trauma on top of everything these kids have gone through imo. Of course, real life isn’t so forgiving, but I’d hope they’d realize how important Steve is to the show, the characters- especially Dustin, and to the majority of the fandom. He’s way more than just the babysitter at this point, and I hope to god they don’t fuck that up in the end.

Price swoops in to save the day and take Simon away for medical attention at the 141 base. Later, you're made an offer you can't - and won't - refuse... after all, Simon is your friend and he needs you, even if he'd rather swear off tea for life than admit it.

It all seemed like a dream; or perhaps a nightmare. Simon had slumped over on his floor bleeding out as you frantically tried to apply pressure to his wound. Captain Price had arrived in what felt like an eternity but also in record time. He burst through the door with two other soldiers – both apparently medics.
They swooped in and took over, pushing you out of the way and stabilizing Simon as Price divided his attention between you and Simon. His gruff, deep voice was a stark contrast to his kind demeanour.
“Simon will be okay.” He stated in an even tone as he guided you to the kitchen sink.
Price helped you clean the blood off your hands as you fell into a deep brain-fog.
“We're ready to head out, Cap.” One of the soldiers called out as Price finished drying your hands.
“Rog, move out.” He commanded them, “I'll be down in a moment.”
Price turned his attention back to you as the soldiers hoisted Simon up and walked him from the flat.
“You did good, pal.” Price reassured you, placing a hand on your shoulder and giving you a firm squeeze. It snapped you back to reality.
“Are... is...” You stuttered to find the first question you wanted to ask.
“You did good.” Price repeats with a nod.
All you could do was nod, looking into his calming brown eyes. “Okay.” You managed to mutter weakly.
“I have to go, take care of Simon.” Price explained softly before walking out of Simon's flat, grabbing his mobile as he left.
You stood there silently for a moment, the blood stain still fresh on the floor, and the lingering smell of cigars filling the room.
You broke down; collapsing to the floor and bawling for hours as your brain tried to process everything that just happened. Your eyes burned and turned a puffy red and your chest heaved until you depleted the last of your energy and passed out on the cold kitchen floor.
✦•······················•✦•······················•✦✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
It was hard to say how much time had passed when the buzzing of your phone woke you. Your eyes struggled to open, heavy from the weight of events on your heart and mind.
You groaned as you rolled over and felt around for the phone.
“Shut up.” You rasped as your hand slapped around the laminate floor.
You had no choice but to focus your attention and look around until you spotted the mobile buzzing near the drying pool of blood. Your jaw clenched as you relived the moment again. You swallowed hard and turned away from the sight as you grabbed the phone.
“Unknown Number.” You muttered as you looked at the screen.
“Six missed calls.” You said weakly as the call ended and the home screen popped into place. “All from an unknown number.”
A text message came in.
Unknown: This is Captain Price. Please pick up the phone.
Your heart skipped a beat. How did he get your number? You thought about it for a moment, and then remembered that Price had taken Simon's phone as he left the flat. He must have grabbed your number from Simon's phone. Your heart sank as it feared the worst. You sent him a reply.
You: Sorry... I... It was a bad night.
You: Is Simon okay?
✦•······················•✦•······················•✦✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
You were surprised when Price had offered to bring you to the base as a visitor, but jumped at the chance if only to see for yourself that Simon was okay. You played at the 'VISITOR' badge pinned to your chest as you were escorted to the medical wing of the 141 complex.
You stood out like a sore thumb surrounded by soldiers going about their days. Every one of them flashed you a glance as you walked through the corridor and into the medical wing.
✦•······················•✦•······················•✦✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
Your heart sank into the depths of your stomach as you saw Simon laying on the bed with machines hooked up to him, beeping steadily away. His breath fogged up the oxygen mask in even succession and you timidly approached the bed.
“He's fine.” Called a familiar deep voice.
You turned to see Captain Price standing in the doorway, his expression and tone was flat and the smell of cigars once again filled your nostrils.
“He's just been sedated.” Price continued as he entered the room to take up position beside you.
“For the pain?” You inquired. It seemed unlikely Simon couldn't handle the pain considering he walked home silently and barely made a peep as he bled out.
“No.” Price replied bluntly. “To keep him in bed. The muppet would walk his arse out of medical claiming he was fine if we didn't.” He explained with a wry smile. “You're welcome to stay as long as you need.” Price continues, turning his attention to you. “I mean it. We'll set you up with quarters if you need.”
You looked at him quizzically, “Why?” you asked rather curtly. Your lips pursed and you looked down as you realized your tone.
“Because you're Simon's only non-141 friend.” Price said with a warm smile.
Your heart skipped a beat, or six, as you took that information in. His only non-141 friend? It felt strange to hear, to know, but it was true. You knew that much.
“I looked into you.” Price stated abruptly. “I know you can work remotely, so you won't miss any work time if you temporarily move on to base.” He gives you a half-smile.
“Totally normal use of military power.” You remark sarcastically, flashing Price a curious look.
“I did it for Simon.” Price replies, his tone oddly soft for a man of his rugged looks.
You let out a throaty grumble. You had mixed feelings about that particular approach, but you pushed all that down to focus on Simon.
“Thank you.” You finally said before making your way to the seat next to the bed.
You sat down in the chair, feeling the cold fabric mould to your shape. He likely had little or no visitors, and your heart sank deeper.
✦•······················•✦•······················•✦✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
After Price had left, you sat there in the chair for a while simply looking at Simon sleeping. He looked strangely peaceful and relaxed.
Simon's phone sat face up on the table next to his bed. It was charging and you couldn't help but pick it up and turn the screen on. No messages. No phone calls.
You looked over at Simon and bit the inside of your cheek. He deserves better than to be left alone. He should have something nice to wake up to.
It was decided, you were going to make sure to make Simon smile when he woke up.
✦•······················•✦•······················•✦✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
You: I met Price properly today, Simon. He's a nice man, gives off fatherly vibes, though the smell of cigars is a bit off-putting. Oh well. He joined me in your room while you slept. We talked a bit, but he had work to attend to, so he excused himself and said we could talk later.
You: Its been three hours now. You look quite peaceful, its a nice change from your usual gruff personality.
You: By the way, if you really didn't want to see that movie with me, you didn't need to go and get stabbed. lol.
✦•······················•✦•······················•✦✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
You: I met Kyle today. Or... Gaz I suppose. He's a really nice guy, chatty when he opens up. He came by to see you immediately after he got back from a [Redacted] mission in [Redacted] to obtain [Redacted]. I'm starting to think I don't have clearance for that information. Haha.
Gaz walked in the room, clearly exhausted from doing God-knows what. His eyes fell to Simon first and his expression dropped. It wasn't until he took a few steps forward when he saw you sitting in the chair, typing away on your laptop with the over-bed table lowered to a usable level.
“Hey...” Gaz said curiously as he approached you.
Your ears perked at the sound of his charming voice and you stopped working to look over at him. You could smell gunpowder and sweat, and his eyes looked puffy and tired. “Name's Kyle.” He says, extending a hand. “You can call me Gaz. Price told me Ghost – err – Simon had a friend staying here.” He smiled.
You took his hand and gave it a firm shake. “I didn't believe he had any outside the team.” Kyle joked as he took a seat in the chair beside you.
“Nice to meet you, Gaz.” You replied quietly. You shut the lid to your laptop.
“How's he doing?” Gaz inquired, tilting his head in Simon's direction.
You shrugged a bit, there hadn't been much change in his condition and the nurses wouldn't give you any updates. You were nothing more than a chair warmer and emotional-support human for Simon.
“About the same.” Is all you managed to tell Gaz. “Price says he's sedated to keep him from wandering, and that he should be okay in a week or two.” You explained.
“Brilliant.” Gaz smiles. “Glad to hear he'll be fine, and that gives me time to learn more about his mysterious friend.” He teased. “Care for a tea and a chat?” He asked, motioning for you to join him.
And with that, you two were off to the mess for some tea.
You: Gaz told me a joke, figured you might like it.
You: What sits in the seabed and has anxiety?
You: A nervous wreck.
✦•······················•✦•······················•✦✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
You: Got another joke for you.
You: What do you call a bear with no teeth?
You: A gummy bear.
You: I got to meet 'Soap' today. He's... yeah.
Soap had actually sneaked up behind you as you walked from your quarters to the medical wing one morning. You were already used to the sounds to soldiers walking and jogging around the halls, so you paid it no mind until a hand landed on your shoulder and spun you around.
“So you're Simon's wee friend!” He remarked with his perfect smile. “Been lookin' forward to meeting you in person.” He added before releasing your shoulder him its tight grip.
“Let me guess, you thought I was fictional.” You fired back with a mischievous grin.
Soap let out a hearty laugh and shook his head. “Nah, Simon is a good man once you get to know him.” Soap asserted with a nod. “I just needed to see the person who broke through his walls, s'all. Name's Soap, by the way.” He tacked on, giving you a pat and pushing you to walk with him.
“Do I even want to know why you're called 'Soap'?” You inquire, raising a brow.
“Its classified.” Soap joked.
“Of course it is.” You replied with a shake of your head.
“Going to see Simon?”
You nod.
“I'll join you.” Soap decided for you both. “So, tell me about yourself. What do you do? How did you meet Simon? What kept you around Simon?”
Soap fired a barrage of questions as you walked, barely letting you answer one before asking a follow up or new question.
You: He calmed down after a while. But the man can chat, that's for sure. He would even give Gaz a run for his money.
✦•······················•✦•······················•✦✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
You: What do you call cheese that isn't yours?
You: Nacho cheese!
✦•·················•✦•······················•✦✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
You: What do you call a happy cowboy?
You: A jolly rancher.
✦•······················•✦•······················•✦✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
You: What kind of music scares balloons?
You: Pop music.
✦•······················•✦•······················•✦✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
You: What did the ocean say to the beach?
You: Nothing, it just waved.
You: Met Laswell today. She was not thrilled to have 'a civilian' on base, but got over it pretty quickly when Price explained who I was. I barely spoke to her, but I've learned to never piss that woman off. Mad respect.
Laswell went outside for a smoke break after her initial irritation and conversation with Price. As she let out the first puff of smoke, you approached a bit causally.
She glanced at you curiously as she sucked at the cigarette between her fingers.
“You're friends with Simon, huh?” She muttered.
“His only civilian friend, I'm told.” You replied with a sigh. You proceeded to take a seat on the concrete half-wall nearby.
“What brings you out here?” Laswell asked as she leaned against the wall beside you.
“Needed to move around. Been sitting beside Simon for almost two weeks now.” Your tone is as weary as your body feels. It was something you couldn't admit to anyone on base, but even just watching over Simon seemed to drain what little reserves of energy you had left. You wouldn't abandon him – never – but it was a lot to handle mentally.
“Understandable.” Laswell sympathized. “How are you doing?” She queried.
She took a long drag from her cigarette.
“Not going to ask how Simon is doing?”
Laswell tossed the butt of the cigarette to the ground and stomped it out.
“I know how he's doing.” She fired back. She gave you a kind smile. “You're the fish out of water here.”
“I'll be happy when they stop sedating him and I can talk to him.”
You roll you jaw around and grit your teeth.
“I miss him.” You add solemnly.
“He's lucky to have you, you know.”
“I'm lucky to have him too...” You mumble.
You: Seems you have a lot of people that care about you. Laswell passed on this joke when I told her what I was doing.
You: Why should you never use a dull pencil?
You: Because its pointless.
✦•······················•✦•······················•✦✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
You: Why didn't the sun go to college?
You: Because it already had a million degrees.
✦•······················•✦•······················•✦✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
Simon woke up slowly, his head was throbbing and his muscles felt weak. He struggled to look around the room in the dim light. Simon slowly became aware of the machines hooked up to him and began to panic. He was vulnerable. At risk.
He strained hard to move, only managing to weakly pull himself into a sitting position on the bed. He let out a low gasp as the pain in the side of his abdomen seared through his body.
He looked down to see himself in a hospital gown. “Hmm.” He grumbled.
Then his eyes noticed you from his peripheral. You were on a curled up in the chair by the bed, head flopped to the side and gently snoring.
Simon couldn't hold back his smile seeing you sleep.
After a moment of his lingering gaze, Simon turned his attention to his surroundings. He quickly figured he was on the 141 base.
He pulled off the oxygen mask and pulled the wires from his body, shutting the beeping machines off.
He found his phone and flicked the screen of.
“Thrity-six text messages.” Simon mumbled in a raspy voice. “All from...” He looked back to you and another smile crossed his lips. He was too exhausted to maintain his usual emotional armour, and just enjoyed the feeling of happiness that washed over him.
Now to find out what you had sent him.

Hello, I'm new here unfortunately I'm very late in the moon bloosom fandom, and in everything Tumblr you are the person who says the most what you said last about this au, I would really like to know what the story is since unfortunately you don't have the opportunity to read if it doesn't bother you could you tell us?
Howdy anon! I’m in the car right now, so apologies if this reply is a little messy!
Long story short, the reason you can’t find anything about the original Moon Blossom anymore is because the creator fell out of the fandom and deleted their old blog, which is completely and totally valid and should be respected.
As for the story itself, it’s been a while, but I can try to tell you as much as I remember! So the main premise is that Cross, the main character (what a loser, always having main character syndrome. Smh.), is sent on a quest to save Dream from the demon’s castle. However, all Cross was told was to “save the twin and slay the demon”. Thus, when Cross goes to the castle and encounters Nightmare, he believes that’s the twin he needs to save and goes out in search of the demon.
HOWEVER, Nightmare is the demon. But also… not really. Goopmare is the real demon. The two are connected, but share no memories. Goopmare knows that he’s Nightmare (but doesn’t know of his memories), while Nightmare has no idea about Goopmare. All he knows is that he woke up in this castle away from home, and he doesn’t know that Dream is also being held captive.
There are a few other characters with major roles as well. I’ll try to give a brief description of them all.
Blue- knight in training I believe? He can join you on your quest to save the twin, and he’s extremely good at sneaking and lock picking.
Ink- The local magic shopkeeper. Appears in multiple places with his shop at the… oddest and strangely convenient times. Later, when you play as Dream when he breaks out of the dungeon cell, Ink comes to help him through the dungeon.
XChara- If I remember correctly, he’s a bit of a tutorial character? He basically teaches you all of the ropes on what to do, and I believe if you ask for help, then he’ll come again and reteach you things?
Core- I can’t remember much about their role, I think there’s a quest you have to do and then they’ll open these waypoint doors? Similar to the doors you can use to travel around the world with in Deltarune!
Error- Ohoho, Error my buddy ol pal. Basically, he’s an assassin that was sent on the same quest as Cross, but a bit after him. He was sent out because “Cross was taking too long” (poor guy, can’t catch a break). However, the main difference between Cross and Error is that Error knows that Nightmare is Goopmare, the demon they have to kill. So, Error is seen as an antagonist, because obviously Cross believes he’s supposed to protect Nightmare.
Killer- Goopmare’s right hand demon, his signature quote is “You might wanna save your game”. He’s a boss that Dream and Ink have to fight before getting out of the dungeon. He’s my favorite, design wise. Though that might just be my love for Killer showing. I can’t remember if he knows that Goopmare and Nightmare are connected? Sorry.
Lust- A demon that was cursed into being one of I remember correctly? There wasn’t a lot for his character unfortunately, I’m not sure where his role was in the story.
I might be forgetting some things, and I know I’m forgetting some of the mechanics mentioned, but I hope this is enough to give you a general idea of what happened!! And to reiterate, the creator is no longer in the fandom and will not be creating any more content for Moon Blossom. Please, if you know the creator, do not harass them about Moon Blossom. That’s all!! Hopefully I was able to answer your and anyone else’s questions!

Hygiene Problems
Don't worry this is not an inappropriate one shot, just 2 pals showering. Ya know, the normal.
MBAV Masterlist
Summary: Reader is wounded by an old fight and can't take care of themselves properly cause of the pain. Rory offers to help.
I couldn’t raise my arms without huge pain. I had got hit during a battle with a creature therefore I had a huge cut on my back plus the bruising. I had been taking baths awkwardly and leaning over to change clothes. It took most of the little energy I had in the morning. “Nice stain y/n.” Ethan says, pointing down to the hem of my shirt. I look down, a red brownish stain near my right side. “Shit.” My hands drop to it. “It’s from when Benny spilled ketchup on me!” “Sorry, but a man’s appetite over rules everything.” Benny says, holding onto his bag. “How did you not see it earlier?” E asks, I shake my head. “I woke up late and just threw on whatever.” I lie, in reality I had already changed once and was too tired to notice the stain. “You can borrow one of my shirts if you want.” Benny offers. “Nah, I’ll sit with my consequence of staying up late.” I move my sweater to be tied around my waist, a yawn escaping my mouth. Oh yeah forgot to mention, can’t lay on my back so sleep has been difficult too. I slug off to English, body sluggish and mind blank.
One minute I was in my seat writing and the next Rory was poking me. “Hey. Are you sleeping?” My head snaps up, looking over to him. “I- I think I was.” I reply, embarrassed. “Wow you must be really tired cause you have never done that before. One of the benefits of being a vampire, no sleep needed however you do miss it.” “And the fast healing.” I mutter to myself. “What?” He totally heard me. “Oh. Nothing, just sleep rambles.” The rest of the day seemed like a blur, just phasing in and out. I had gotten home and began to unpack my bag. When I finished I sat down on my bed and went out like a light. Knock at the door awakens me.
“Hey, your friend Rory is here.” My mom peers in, I nod. “You weren’t answering your phone so I decided to come over-” He pauses mid sentence. “Dude, you look awful and your room is like actually dirty.” I let out a sigh. “I’ve been tired a lot.” “Like depressed or?” Rory knew me very well. “No, just physically tired.” “Okay! You want a massage or something? My mom says I give the best ones!” “Uhh, I’m okay. Yours are a little too rough for me.” I comment, remembering the soreness from last time he offered. “Well I was thinking we could go-'' He begins as he walks up to me to pull me up from the bed. “Ow!” I yell, a hiss following it. My body naturally hunching over from the pain. “Oh my god. Are you okay? Did I take your arm out?” Rory quickly asks, fear of hurting me. “No, I’m good, just my back.” I explain.
“Okay. You’ve been saying you’re fine and good all day yet you fell asleep in class, you keep groaning out of pain and your room is like Benny’s.” Rory questions, he had every right to. I was not normal but pain does that to you. “Do you ever get tired of well, always fighting the supernatural? It seems like every time things have settled down the next thing pops up. Is it gonna be like this for the next 4 years? I love helping but the scars need to heal.” Rory looks down thinking about my words before answering. “I mean yeah it’s a lot sometimes but we never really get hurt. I don’t know, I never really think about it. I guess being an immortal removes the thought of wasting time.” “What if someone did get hurt though? You and Benny were hugely affected by that stupid girl scout demon.” I remind him and he just shrugs. “We got over it.” I sigh, head hanging down. “Is this why you haven’t been taking care of yourself?” Rory asks out of nowhere. “What?” “Erica, Sarah and me all noticed how drained you looked along with the smell of dry blood plus your hair hasn’t been as shiny.” “You think my hair is shiny?” I ask, grabbing a strand and playing with it. “Yeah! I know you spend a lot of time concerned about your hair, yet this past week it seemed like you were distracted.” “I’m just-” “Tired, I know.” He interrupts, giving a ‘you’re lying’ look. “I am fine.” “Prove it.” My mouth drops open. “What?” “I don’t believe you, so prove it.” His arms cross in front of his chest. “You want me to? Fine.” I leave my room and speed walk to the bathroom, the blond following. I move the shower certain and turn on the water. I turn back to him. “Well, I’m gonna shower so you gotta go.” “Nope. I will turn around and wait as you shower. I’m not easily fooled.” Rory says, standing his ground. Head turned up, trying to prove his point. “Really?” I ask, he nods. “Fine.” I look him dead in the eye as I throw off my socks, pants and then I go for my shirt. My hands hesitate for a moment and then I start to lift it. My hands got to about my shoulders and then the pain started. I didn’t even have the strength to get it fully off my head. I could feel my arms trembling, a side effect of the shooting pain all over my torso. At some point my hands became too weak and the shirt dropped. My face coming back into view of Rory’s. His brows now furrowed in confusion and his arms at his side. I bring my hands down and shake them trying to get rid of the trembling my body was doing. “Y/n.” Rory begins. “No, I don’t need to prove that I’m fine.” I try to rush past him but he grabs my hand. “What’s wrong?” I shake my head in response. “Please.” His voice pleading to me. “I got hurt.” A whisper of the sentence comes out. “I told you all multiple times to be safe and I got hurt. I can’t raise my arms over my head.” I finally admit, the stress now slowly leaving. Rory nods his head. “I can’t shower so I have to wash my hair in the tub.” I tell, Rory blinks before the look of an idea crosses his face. “I could help you!” My eyes widen. “Pardon?” “Yeah! I could help you shower.” His head nodding fast, excitement like a puppy’s. “I would be naked.” He ponders for a moment. “I’ve seen you in swimsuits before.” “Rory, you really don’t have to.” “I want to! You’re always the one to fix and help me so please let me help you.” His puppy dog eyes working against me, he had no malice or ill intent in his head. “Fine.” I mutter out, already feeling shy. He gets closer to me and rubs my hand for comfort. “Don’t worry I’ve bathed cats before so this will be easy.” He reassures me with a smile, I nod at him. “Ready?” He asks, I nod again, insecurities plaguing my mind, His hands slid under my top layers gently, leading my arms out and then over my head. My face heating up immediately, this wasn’t how I imagined getting naked with him would be like. He goes to the band of my underwear, guiding them down my legs. “See, easy peesy!” He exclaims, starting to strip. Rory! What are you doing?” I ask, averting my gaze. “How am I supposed
to help wash you with my clothes on?” I nod trying to understand his logic. I mean I did get it but he was so nonchalant with the human body. He strips to his underwear and then stops. “I can turn around.” I say, facing my back to him. I don’t hear any movement for a few seconds. “Rory?” Then I feel a cool hand press against me, my muscles tense at the feeling. I whip back around. “That’s big y/n.” “I know, hence why it hurts.” He continues again, becoming fully naked. My cheeks now beet red, head taking interest in everything but Rory. He jumps in the shower before I could. “Come on! This feels great.” I hear him say, I scoff a bit to myself. This kid was gonna be the death of me. He opens the curtain waving to me, I approach the tub. Grabbing his hand and slowly getting in. Face pointing towards the faucet, water beating down my chest. I let out a sigh of relief. I turn around letting the water wet my hair, a hiss coming out when the drops would touch my back. I hear the sound of a bottle cracking open then a squeeze. I look up to see Rory putting shampoo on his hand. He lathers it in his hands before reaching up to my head, scrubbing my scalp. I observe him, face concentrated on his task at hand. He looks down to me and smiles. My eyes close, falling into a content state with the massage I was receiving. He leans my head back to wash it, guiding his hand through the strands. I could feel some drowsiness take over me. I wobble a bit, grabbing onto his arms. "Woah, don’t go falling for me now.” He jokes, I giggle a little bit. “Sorry, it’s hard when there's a vampire ninja in my shower.” “You know anyone else would be paying a fairly high price but you got it for free.” “I’m lucky like that.” He continues to clean me, the missed warmth of comfort settling in. “I’m gonna do your back now.” He whispers to me. His hands delicate around the wound. We finish the shower and he helps me step out. Putting a towel around me before drying himself off. “I don’t wanna wear that shirt to bed.” I whine as he picks up my clothes. “Which one would you like then?” Helping me back into my attire. “Green long sleeve, top drawer.” A second later he appears with it in his hand, putting it over my body. He then places my arm over his shoulder and lifts me, carrying us back to my room. He places me down on the bed, brushing my hair out of my face then lays beside me. “Please don’t leave” I whisper. “Wouldn’t dream of it.”

How bakugou and kirishima would react if they walked in on you crying cause of a show.
umm totally not self-indulged
Genre: fluff, not really angst, hc's
Also these are kinda long
Tumblr media
It's 6pm and bakugou is getting back to the dorms from the gym with his read head pal.
He's annoyed at you to say the least.
You haven't answered his texts. And hes worried bro
(Not that he'll ever admit it tho)
Anyways Kiri and him get to the dorms smelling like sweat
That's just Kiri
But bakugou left the red head behind when the blonde checked his phone
he was about to send u another angry text But he saw that you left him on read.
Lmao ╰_╯he does that face and goes storming up to your room.
When he noticed that the doors locked his first instinct is to blow the door
But he stops himself when he hears muffled sniffs
Bakubaby would stay at the door for a couple of seconds thinking if he did something to upset you
But then his thoughts go to the opposite direction
What if someone did something to you.
Just the thought if someone hurting you made his heart hurt and his blood boil at the same time.
Finally returning to his senses he knocks on the door hard.
Hearing a small scream come from your room and the cracking of your floor board, you open the door.
Puffy red eyes and pouty lips look back at him as you stare at you boyfriend.
Quickly he hugs you.
"Who the fuck did this? Huh, I'll kill them!" his own way of caring you laugh slightly.
"Nobody did anything, calm down Kat."
His face goes (`o´)? For a moment and pulls away
"Then why the hell are you cryin'?" you push him inside your room and close the door.
you shuffle your way to your bed feeling his red eyes follow your figure. You clear your throat as you explain what happened.
"So the mc lost ANOTHER person Kat! They've gone through so much! And I really like [character name]!" your glossy eyes look back at your bf who at the moment looks stunned.
"Wait let me get this straight. Your cryin' over a fucking show?! Dumbass, come here."
You quickly made your way in his arms and he patted your back trying to make you feel better.
The next morning you go to kaminari and you both talk about the show and kami would get emotional too.
He told you to watch it so you both can talk about it
Tumblr media
It's the weekend and Kirishima just woke up
It's like 9:35 and the first thing he does is grab his phone.
Mans would send you a good morning text but he found it odd that you didn't respond.
Lmao but then he remembers it's Sunday and you probably just wanted to sleep in
He goes down stairs and makes himself some all might cereal.
Don't come at me 😭
After that he goes to train with the Bakusquad and sero asks if your not awake.
"They're probably asleep bro, Ill check up in them later." he gives sero a toothy smile and make their way to the gym.
Meanwhile your at your dorm.
Your computer open and snacks around you.
Being the s/o of Kiri ment being friends with bakugou lmao
You two rarely talk only when he's screaming at you to fight him
Anywaysss you and Kiri were in baku's dorm studying. Not really he was just yelling at Kiri to focus.
Long story short Kiri went out for snacks and bc he trusts you to stay in the room with another dude and not do anything he left u and Baku.
Taking out your phone baku snatches it and tosses it with your sharky boyfriends on his bed.
"Focus on the homework!" not paying attention to what he said, something caught your eye.
Behind him was a shelf of romance manga, your lock eye with the blonde and laugh your ass off.
"Damn bakugou I didn't know you were into that stuff!"
"Shut up extra! I'll kill yo-" cutting him off you got up.
"Are any of them good?" he rolled his eyes and slumped in the floor.
"Why?" again you locked eyes with the blonde and sighed.
" I just finished a show an I need something else to watch, are any of these good?" you repeated yourself as you saw the angry blonde point at one of the mangas
"Tch, this one is good." a devilish smirk spread across his face as you turned around.
That was the saddest one he had in his shelf.
Back to present time, you still haven't answered the phone and it was 1:15 pm
You don't ever sleep this late. Walking back to the dorms he made his way to your room.
Completely forgetting that he smelled like sweat, very faintly tho.
Ax Body Spray that's all I have to say
When he opened the door, there you where lying on your bed, tissues crumbled up in your hands as you stared at your laptop screen.
Sniffles caught his attention, you not even fazed that the door opened.
He ran to you to see what's wrong.
"Hey baby! What's wrong? Why are you crying? Did somethi-" your hand placed on his lips as your glossy eyes stayed in the screen.
"Nishimiya!" the screen echoed across the room as hot tears spilled out of your eyes.
"Y/n!-" you shushed him very quickly as you pulled him on your bed. Your eyes never falling off the screen.
His arms wrap behind you as he looks too.
You gasp as the mc hits a table, his eyes widened as he calls the other girl by her first name.
Suddenly the girl falls, the mc running to save her, catching her by the wrist.
You cry out as you see nishimiya look at mc.
Tears gather in your boyfriend's eyes as he holds you tighter.
After finishing the whole movie, kirishima looks at you with puffy eyes.
"So that's why you were crying? Heh, I see why." you apologize for shushing him and pepper his face with kisses.
Later that day, you see bakugou at dinner and he obviously sees that you've been crying, a large smirk as he sees you walk towards him.
"I hate you." His smirk wideneds and replies,
"Don't go snooping in my shit then."
(T_T)(T_T)(T_T)(T_T)(T_T)(T_T)(T_T)(T_T)(T_T)(T_T
Lmao this was originally supposed to have todoroki too but I got lazy sorry (◞‸◟ㆀ).
Anyways have y'all seen euphoria? Well yeah I finished that and it left me in tears 😔🖐.
Un revised so sorry about any spelling errors 😅

Prompt: SamBucky are /not/ together but it's getting there. So something wild happens idk magic or some shit and 1940s Bucky gets plucked from his timelime and thrown into theirs. 40s Bucky doesn't pull any punches, and goes for what he wants and that's Sam.
(Sorry it took me almost a month to write this anon. I didn't know how to go about it until today. I wrote this as crack. I hope you still like it! This is pretty similar to my other fic)
Sam was taking the trash out when it happened. Now, you have to understand, Sam has seen some weird shit in his time. He was erased out of existence, for fuck's sake. But this one still took the cake. So yeah, as he took the trash out. The sky, THE FUCKING SKY, suddenly opened and something shot out of it dropping right into Sam's dumpster. Sam was thrown back from the impact, his trash landing elsewhere.
Sam's ribs hurt like hell as he got up from the ground. "Shit," he groaned.
A pained moan came from the dumpster and as if on reflex, Sam's hand went into his back pocket. "Who's in there?!" He asked, panicked.
He slowly took a step towards the dumpster and stopped in his tracks when he heard another pained sound. "Get out of there," Sam warned the person. "Come on. I'm not playing."
Hands grabbed at the edge of the dumpster and someone slowly hauled themself up and tried to get out of the dumpster but they lost their balance and fell to the ground.
"Shit," Sam hissed, before rushing over to help them. "Hey, man, you o-" Sam's voice died in his throat when he finally saw the face of the person before him. "Bucky?!" It was Bucky alright. But not the Bucky Sam knew. This Bucky was young, clean-shaven... dressed in military uniform... if it weren't for those blue hues, Sam wouldn't even have recognized him. This wasn't the Bucky who was in their shared apartment right now. "What the hell is happening?" Sam asked, more to himself than the guy in front of him, who was staring up at him in somehow both fear and awe.
Sam was definitely dead. This was either heaven or hell and Bucky was here as his younger self... Well, if Bucky was here, then it had to be hell. But it didn't feel any different. It still felt like D.C. cold and smelling of corruption. Or maybe that's what hell was...
"Where am I?" The man-- Bucky?-- asked.
"Hell," Sam replied without thinking.
"What?!" That got young Bucky's attention, and he sat on the ground. "I'm dead?"
"Well, I'm guessing you and I both are... because that's the only explanation I can come up with. Where the hell did you come from?"
"I don't know..." Young Bucky almost looked like he was on the verge of tears. "What is happening? Where is Steve? We were at the exhibition... we were talking... and now I'm..." The man swayed and fainted.
SHIT.
Despite his own broken ribs (yes, Sam had decided this wasn't hell and he wasn't dead), Sam hauled young Bucky up from the ground and threw young Bucky's arm around his own shoulder before wrapping his arm around young Bucky's waist (he should really stop calling him young Bucky). This Bucky was light. He wasn't built like a damn truck like his own Bucky (okay, no he wasn't Sam's Bucky but he was Sam's friend so he was technically Sam's? FOCUS Sam. Bigger problems).
Sam somehow got young Bucky (Okay, he was going to start calling him Sergeant Barnes. He was dressed in his uniform after all) into the elevator. Thankfully, no one saw him with Sergeant Barnes. He practically carried Sergeant Barnes to his apartment and used his keys to open the door.
"Wow, took you long enough. What were you doing? Taking the trash all the way to the landfill?" Bucky was sitting in front of the TV, browsing through Netflix.
"Bucky-- we have a problem. I found something-- or rather someone, downstairs"
"Did you go dumpster diving, Sam? I swear to god, Sam, if this is another one of your attempts to adopt a cat--" Bucky stopped talking and turned around and his eyes widened. "WHAT THE FUCK?!" He flew out of the seat and stumbled back.
"Surprise?" Sam said awkwardly. He helped Sergeant Barnes to the sofa and dropped him on it.
Sam's ribs protested, and he doubled over in pain. "Fuck," he groaned.
"What the fuck is that, Sam?"
Sam looked up at Bucky to find him looking at his younger self, horrified.
"That is you," Sam replied.
"No, it's not."
"Yeah, it is," Sam insisted. "He dropped from the sky."
"He what?" Bucky laughed hysterically
"You're freaking out. Stop freaking out," Sam tried to touch Bucky's shoulder, who stepped away from him.
"OF COURSE I'M FREAKING OUT! I mean, LOOK AT HIM... That's me... That's me from 1942."
"How do you know what exact year he's from?"
"I was dressed like that... like a damn dweeb right before they shipped me out."
A groan got Sam's attention, and he looked over at the sofa to see Sergeant Barnes waking up.
The sergeant's eyes widened when looked from Sam to Bucky. "What the-- WHAT IS HAPPENING?!" He screeched. "WHO ARE YOU?!"
"I am you," Bucky replied. "Look, there is no easy way to say this but It seems you have somehow ended up in the future."
"The future?" Now it was Sergeant Barnes's turn to laugh hysterically. "You're saying I've ended up in the future?! That's the funniest thing I've heard all day, pal. Is this a prank? Is Steve getting back at me?"
Sam went over to Sergeant Barnes and crouched in front of him on the floor. "Listen, Sergeant Barnes-"
"You can call me Bucky." Young Bucky offered him a sweet smile.
"Actually, I can't," Sam replied. "He's Bucky to me--" he said pointing at Bucky "--so I have to call you something else."
The smile fell off Sergeant Barnes's face and Sam felt kinda bad.
"--Bucky is telling the truth. You've somehow ended up in the future. What do you remember last?"
"I remember meeting you, doll," Sergeant Barnes replied.
"Doll?!" Bucky said in surprise.
"Shut up, Bucky," Sam told him before going back to Sergeant Barnes. "Before that. What do you remember before that?"
"I remember we were at the exhibition of future technologies... Steve and I were talking and then--- and then I woke up in that garbage."
"Do you remember this happening to you?" Sam asked Bucky.
"No, of course, I don- wait- I do now. How is that possible?!"
"Looks like you're forming new memories, Buck," Sam suggested.
"I am really confused," Sergeant Barnes said desperately, and grabbed Sam's hands.
"Sorry, I just-- I need something to ground me. I am terrified."
"Oh yeah, of course," Sam replied. "That's okay." He squeezed Sergeant Barnes's hands.
Bucky cleared his throat behind them and Sam turned around to find him frowning. Sam just shrugged and turned back to Sergeant Barnes.
"We'll figure it out," Sam assured the young man. "And we'll get you back home."
"Well, we better because who knows what could happen the longer he's here. He could erase my existence."
Just the thought churned Sam's stomach.
"First, let's get you out of these clothes," Sam suggested, looking at Sergeant Barnes. "You smell like garbage."
"Sorry about that, sweetheart," Sergeant Barnes said with a small smile.
"Come on, I'll show you the shower. You can have some of my clothes, they should fit you."
"Why not mine?" Bucky asked. "He's literally me."
"No!" Sergeant Barnes said a little too loudly. "His clothes are fine. I didn't catch your name, by the way."
"OH! I'm Sam," Sam led him to his bedroom and found him a pair of t-shirt and sweats.
"Thank you, Sam," Sergeant Barnes said appreciatively. "I don't know what's going on here but I am glad you're here to help me through it."
Sam offered him a smile in return. "Well, I'm glad you think that. Now come on, I'll show you the shower."
"The future still has a phonograph?" Sergeant Barnes asked before following Sam out of the bedroom.
Sam nodded, "Yeah it does." He showed Sergeant Barnes to the shower and turned it on for him, adjusting the water to the right temperature. When he turned around, he found the Sergeant standing there fully naked.
"Whoa, okay," Sam immediately averted his eyes. He tried not to trail his eyes to Sergeant Barnes's nether regions. "Let me know if you need anything else. Just press that knob when you're done showering and it should turn off the water." (Okay, talking about pressing knobs right now was probably not the best idea).
Sam quickly ran out of the bathroom and he's pretty sure he heard Sergeant Barnes say, "So cute," on his way out.
"What's up with you?"
Sam jumped when he heard Bucky's voice. It almost felt like he had been caught cheating on Bucky with Bucky. Which was ridiculous because Bucky wasn't his boyfriend and he wasn't doing anything with Sergeant Barnes.
"Nothing," Sam blurted. "We should really figure out how to get him back home."
A dark look fell over Bucky's face, and Sam reached out to rest his hand on the other man's shoulder. "What's wrong?"
"We send him back and he gets taken hostage by Hydra and then eventually turned into The Winter Soldier."
"Bucky, everything needs to happen exactly how it happened or your whole present and future will change."
"Would that really be such a bad thing? I mean, look at all the things I've done. If there is a chance I could erase all of that--"
"And what if you end up erasing yourself?" Sam asked.
"Sam--"
"No! Don't Sam me! We are sending him back to his time and that's that."
“Okay, then,” Bucky threw his hands up. “We’re sending him back.”
“How though? We don’t even know how he got here in the first place.”
“Maybe some sort of sorcery was involved?” Bucky suggested.
“Sorcery?!” A startled voice came from behind them and they turned around to find Sergeant Barnes standing there looking stunned. “Sorcery is real?”
“Unfortunately,” Sam replied. “We even have a sorcerer friend. Speaking of which, we should talk to him.”
“Oh, so he’s no longer a wizard?” Bucky teased
“Oh shut it,” Sam threw back and lightly punched Bucky on the shoulder.
“Are you two…” Sergeant Barnes trailed off.
“Are we what?” Sam asked distractedly.
“Are you together?” Sergeant Barnes replied. “I assume a relationship between two men is not frowned upon in the future or a relationship between an interracial couple? My time is less tolerant.”
“Trust me, our time isn’t very tolerant either, but yes, we’ve come a long way from 1942,” Sam informed him. “And to answer your question, no, Bucky and I are not together.”
Sam noticed a frown on Bucky’s face but he ignored it.
“Are you taken?” Sergeant Barnes asked, rubbing the back of his neck.
“No, I’m not,” Sam replied.
Sergeant Barnes stepped closer to Sam and smiled at him. “Good, because, if you were, I would be really sad.”
“Why?” Sam gulped at the closeness of the other man. He smelled like tea tree oil, the scent of Bucky’s body wash.
“Because you are gorgeous and I would hate it if you were taken.”
Sam feels his cheeks heat up at that. “Oh wow… Um.. thanks.”
Sergeant Barnes snaked his arm around Sam’s waist and pulled him closer. “Do you mind if I kissed ya, doll?”
Sam felt his arm being grabbed, and he was pulled back and away from Sergeant Barnes.
“Maybe you should focus more on the fact that you’re stuck in the future than on Sam.”
Sam felt Bucky’s arm around his waist. His grip was almost possessive.
“Are you jealous?” Sergeant Barnes asked with a cocky grin on his face. Sam has sometimes seen that grin on Bucky’s face but it’s very rare.
“Jealous? Of you? Kid, you give yourself too much credit.”
“Boys, you do realize you’re the same person, right?” Sam pulled himself away from Bucky.
“I am not him!” Both of them said at the same time.
“Clearly,” Sam rolled his eyes.

A/N: I do not give permission to copy or post my work on any other website or platform. Reblogs are always welcome. Andy Barber and Jacob Barber are characters that do not belong to me. All other characters in this story are my own. Thank you @denisemarieangelina for reading and being my sounding board for all things Disney!
“Slow down, Princess” Andy laughed as Ava all but dragged him towards the entrance to Magic Kingdom. “It’s not going anywhere.”
“Someone sure is excited to get to Disney!” Your mom laughed, walking behind with you, Jacob and your dad.
She wasn’t wrong. Ava had been a ball of excitement since you’d gotten on the plane to fly to Orlando. You were staying on property at the Contemporary Resort, so the Disney magic had started at the airport when you’d boarded the Disney bus to head to the hotel. Once you’d arrived, she’d discovered several gifts on her bed of the hotel, including a breakfast reservation with all of the princesses.
“I can’t be late to meet the princesses! Hurry!” She begged.
“We have plenty of time, Monkey” You assured her, “We have early entry to the park, and breakfast isn’t for another hour.”
That seemed to satisfy her some, as she slowed down at least. You all made your way into the park and started out on Main Street, looking in some of the shops. Soon, it was time to make your way over to breakfast at Cinderella’s Castle. Ava was beyond excited at this point. Jacob walked ahead with her, holding her hand so she didn’t get too far ahead of everyone.
“She’s in heaven.” Andy said, smiling at Ava as she interacted with all of the princesses. “I love seeing her so happy.”
“She’ll be on cloud nine for the rest of the day, and probably the trip.” You agreed.
“This just might be the highlight of her entire year.” Your dad laughed.
After breakfast, you moved through more of the park until lunch time. By then Ava was starting to get tired, so you and Andy took her back to the hotel to rest for a bit. Your parents stayed at the park with Jacob, continuing to explore the park.
Ava was already asleep when you got to the hotel. Andy carried her to the room and gently laid her on the bed.
“We’ll let her recharge her batteries and then we can head back for some more.” You said, “I know she won’t want to miss the parade or the fireworks later.”
While Ava slept, you and Andy ate a light lunch on the balcony of the room and enjoyed some quiet time together. Once Ava woke up, you got her some lunch and the three of you headed back into the park to meet up with Jacob and your parents.
You spend the afternoon going through the park,meeting all the characters, and riding as many rides as possible. By the time the parade begins, you’re convinced Ava and Jacob are both riding a permanent sugar high. You’ve never laughed so much as you did watching the two of them go through Disney together.
You snap lots of pictures of the various floats and characters as they go by. Being Christmastime, all of the floats and characters were decked out in holiday decorations. It made an already magical place, extra special.
“I love that Jake is having just as much fun as Ava, even though he’s a teenager.” Andy said, wrapping arms around you and resting his chin on your head. “I always wanted to bring him, but Laurie never seemed interested.”
“Well, we can make up for lost time now.” You promised, “We can make it our mission to visit during all of the holidays at least once. Or at least visit once in every season.”
“We may need to look at an annual pass,” Andy laughed, “But I’m sure Ava and Jacob would both like that plan.”
“I think you’re right.” You agreed, “They’ve both caught the Disney Magic, and I don’t think there’s a cure.”
“Mommy, when do the fireworks start?” Ava asked, turning to look at you from her perch on a nearby bench. Jacob was standing next to her, ensuring she didn’t fall.
“Soon, Monkey” You replied, “It’s after the light parade and when it gets just a little bit darker.”
“You’re going to love this Ava!” Jacob said, “I watched a YouTube video of it and I bet it’s even better in person!”
Jacob wasn’t wrong, the fireworks show was breathtaking. They were both mesmerized the entire show. You and Andy kept stealing glances at one another from over the tops of the kids’ heads. Once the show was over you started the trek back to the monorail to head back to the hotel. Jacob gave Ava a piggy back ride, as she was beyond exhausted while you and Andy walked behind them, and your parents walked in front of them.
Once back at the hotel, your parents went to their suite next to yours and the four of you headed into your suite. Ava was half asleep on Jacob’s back. Andy carefully lifted her off and carried her to one of the bedrooms.
“Do we need to wake her up to use the bathroom or change?” Andy asked you, gently laying her down on the bed and carefully pulling her shoes off.
“She should be ok as she is.” You replied, smiling at how loving and gentle he was with her.
“I’m going to crash too.” Jacob said, coming in and flopping down onto the other bed. “Thank you for bringing us. Today was a lot of fun.”
“I’m glad you enjoyed it.” Andy smiled at Jacob, “Sorry it took so long to get you here, Pal.”
“It’s better this way.” He replied, “It’ll only be good memories. Not tainted.”
“We love you, Jacob” You said gently, “There’s a lot more happy memories to be made, get some sleep sweetheart.”
You and Andy made your way out of their room, into the sitting area of the suite. He grabbed your hand and gently pulled you to the sofa, sitting down and pulling you into his lap.
“The past 3 months have been so amazing, I keep forgetting he’s still healing and coming to terms with everything that happened.” Andy sighed, wrapping his arms around your waist and resting his head against yours. You wound your arms around him, your fingers gently threading in this hair.
“I have no doubt that there’s still a long road to recovery for him, but I can assure you, he’s come so far the last few months.” You reassure him. “He’s resilient, strong, and has a huge heart. He also has an amazing dad in his corner. And now he has Ava and me who will always be there for him, and pseudo grandparents.”
“I love you, Sweetheart.” Andy said, his lips finding your own.
“I love you too, Andy.” You replied between kisses. You both stayed on the couch for a while, enjoying the stillness of the night and being in each other’s arms. Eventually you made your way to the second bedroom in the suite and fell into an exhausted sleep curled into each other.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning was Christmas Eve. You’d all decided to order room service for breakfast before heading to Animal Kingdom for the day.
While waiting on breakfast to get delivered to the room, you and Ava go into the bathroom where you braid her hair for her in an Elsa style braid per her request. Once finished, she goes out to join Jacob to plan out what they want to see that day. You quickly finish getting ready and then join everyone in the common area of the suite.
After the food arrives, you help Andy get it all set up on the table for everyone. While setting the table you and Andy overhear Ava asking Jacob about Santa.
“Jakey,” Ava asked softly, “Will Santa be able to find me here at the hotel? And how will he get in? There’s no fireplace here… and we don’t have stockings or a tree!”
“He knows where we’re at, Kiddo.” He reassured her, “And he’s got magic, remember? He doesn’t need a fireplace to get in.”
“But what about the stockings and the tree?” She asked, not convinced, “Those are still at home.”
“We’re at Disney” He replied, “Between Disney magic and Santa’s magic, I think it’ll be covered.”
“Promise?” She asked, holding out her pinky to Jacob.
“Promise.” he said, linking his pinky with hers.
You looked at Andy, worried. You hadn’t thought about this aspect of being away for Christmas. Of course Ava would be worried about Santa not coming and being upset about not having the tree and stockings up.
“I’ll take care of it.” Andy whispered, reassuring you. He pulled you close and leaned in to kiss your forehead. “Trust me.”
“Always” You replied, smiling.
“Who’s ready for more Disney today?” Your dad said coming in through the suite door. “I hear Animal Kingdom is on tap for the day!”
“ME!” Ava said, jumping up and running over to hug him. “I can’t wait to see the animals and go on the safari! Jacob showed me a video!”
“I’ll bet it’s going to be another fun-filled day!” Your mom said. “And I heard one of the hotel workers say they’re preparing a giant batch of cookies for a certain someone who’ll be stopping by with presents tonight!”
“Really?” Ava asked, “Mommy! We need some of those cookies!”
“I’ll look into it Monkey.” You promised. “Let’s eat so we can get over to Animal Kingdom.”
Once everyone had finished eating you all headed down to the front of the hotel to catch the shuttle bus to Animal Kingdom.
Jacob and Ava wanted to do the safari first when you arrived so you headed over there.
“It’s kinda like when we first met at the zoo.” Jacob said, smiling at Ava. “Not a train, but still cool.”
“That was the best day EVER!” Ava exclaimed, “Mommy and I got  you and Andy that day!”
“You sure did, Princess.” Andy said, smiling lovingly at her. “You and your Mommy captured our hearts that day for sure.”
“Definitely the best day.” You said, wiping a stray tear from your eyes, smiling.
The safari was incredible. It was fun watching Jacob and Ava point out the animals and bonding over animals again.
“Those two have such an amazing bond.” Your mom said once you’d finished the safari. “They remind me of you and your brother when you were little.”
“They really do.” You agreed, “It makes my heart melt watching them together.”
“They’ve definitely already adopted one another.” Andy added. “I love getting to see Jake in a protective big brother role.”
“He’s got the role down pat for sure.” Your dad winked at Andy.
You headed to Pandora the world of Avatar next and spent a few hours there, before grabbing lunch and continuing on to the rest of the park.
You decided to head back to the hotel before dinner time, opting to eat at the hotel rather than Animal Kingdom.
While you headed to the pick up area to catch the bus, Andy nodded at Jacob who smiled and walked ahead with Ava a little bit in order to talk to her.
“It’s time, Kiddo.” He whispered, “Remember what dad wants you to say?”
“Yes!” She whispered back, excitedly. “I need to go to Cinderella’s wishing well and make a wish!”
“Good job.” He smiled at her, “Make sure to really sell it!”
They stopped at the bus pick up and waited for everyone to catch up. The trip back to the hotel didn’t take too long. When they arrived back and got off the bus, Andy winked at Ava over your shoulder.
“MOMMY!” Ava exclaimed, “We have to go back to the Magic Kingdom! I have to go to Cinderella’s wishing well!”
“Ok, Monkey” You said, amused, “We can go back tomorrow.”
“NO!” She insisted, “I have to go TONIGHT! It’s Christmas EVE and Jacob said that Disney magic AND Santa magic are EXTRA special. So I HAVE to make the wish tonight. Pleeeeeaaasssseee?”
“How about we take the monorail and go to the wishing well then just get dinner at the Magic Kingdom tonight?” Andy suggested, “It’s still early enough.”
“We can see if there is availability to eat at Cinderella’s Royal Table.” Your mom suggested, “I know our little Princess would love that.”
“Sounds like fun to me!” Jacob said, “We can see the fireworks show again!”
“Ok then,” You laughed, “I guess we’re not done with Disney today just yet.”
“YAY!” Ava yelled, happily. “Let’s go! Let’s go!” She tugged Jacob’s hand and started moving to the monorail.
“You know we can’t always give in though, right?” You asked Andy, laughing, “We’re creating a monster here.”
“I know, but it’s Christmas.” Andy shrugged, smiling, “And it’s Disney.”
“Wrapped around her little finger.” you laughed
“Possibly.” He agreed. “Come on, let’s go experience some more magic.”
You rode the monorail into the Magic Kingdom and immediately headed towards Cinderella’s wishing well for Ava.
“While we’re here did you want to go on any of the rides again or see anything else?” You asked the kids.
“Nope! Just the wishing well!” Ava said, “And what Nana said for dinner. I like that!”
“I’m good.” Jacob agreed, “We’re doing Epcot tomorrow for Christmas around the world”?
“Yup!” You confirmed, “We’ll do breakfast and presents in the morning and then head to Epcot later.”
“Cool.” he smiled. “There was a shop I kinda wanted to go back to on Main Street if that’s ok on our way out?”
“Of course!” You said, “We can stop after dinner. I may pick up some treats from the candy shop too.”
“Now who has whom wrapped around their finger?” Andy teased you, mimicking your earlier words.
“Hush” You laughed, “Not the same thing.”
“Uh huh.” He nodded, smirking.  “Your argument is weak, my love.”
Once you arrived at the wishing well your mom and dad walked up with Ava and Jacob giving them each coins to toss into the well.
“Andy and Bri, you make wishes too.” Your mom said smiling, her hand holding out two more coins. You and Andy reached over and took the coins.
“You have to hold the coin in your hand really tight” Ava told Jacob, “Squeeze your eyes close and think REALLY hard about what you want to wish for. If you think about it and wish hard enough, it’ll come true!”
Jacob followed her instructions and made his wish, tossing the coin into the well. Ava made her wish next, tossing her coin into the well.
“Your turn Mommy!” Ava said, “Make a wish! Close your eyes REALLY REALLY tight and wish SUPER hard!”
Andy smiled at her, winking. You laughed, then closed your eyes tightly and made a show about really thinking about your wish, wanting to make Ava happy. In reality, you already had everything you could wish for. You finally tossed your coin into the well, opening your eyes.
“Ok, Andy…” You said, turning around to face him, your words getting stuck when you saw him.
While you were making your wish, Andy pulled the ring he’d been holding onto out of his pocket and had dropped down to one knee.
“Everything I could possibly wish for is already right here with me, Bri.” He said, his voice full of emotion. “I never really believed in second chances or in happily ever after until I was lucky enough to meet you and Ava. I was determined to be the best dad I could to Jacob and make our own happiness. We moved here for a fresh start, and I was given that and so much more. You embraced Jacob and he immediately started healing, and finding himself again. I was probably already half in love with you when we met for that reason alone. I fell completely in love with you the day in the zoo. Watching you with Ava and Jacob, I knew that’s what a mother’s love was supposed to look like. My heart was also captured by a little Princess that day. Bri, I love you completely with everything that I am. I love Ava as if she were my own. I love our little family that we’ve created. I want nothing more than to spend the rest of our lives together, raising these two crazy kids, and any more that may come along.”
You wiped at the tears now steadily streaming down your face at his words. Your heart bursting with love for him.
“Briella James, will you marry me?” Andy asked, smiling up at you, his eyes brimming with love for you.
“YES!” You exclaimed happily through your tears. Andy slipped the ring on your finger and then stood up, pulling you to him and kissing you.
You could hear loud applause all around from your parents, Jacob and Ava, but also from many strangers who had witnessed the proposal.
“I love you too, Andy.” You said when you could regained your composure. “More than I can possibly put into words.”
“Congratulations you two!” Your mom and dad said, coming over to hug you. Ava bounded over and threw herself into Andy’s arms hugging him tightly.
“I’m really glad you said yes.” Jacob said hugging you, “I mean I figured you would, but I’m still really glad. I love you Bri.”
“I love you too, Jacob.” You replied, a fresh wave of tears springing to your eyes.
“My wish came true!” Ave laughed happily, “Jacob was right! Disney magic and Christmas magic together makes the wish more powerful!”
“We have reservations at Cinderella’s Royal Table in 20 minutes.” Your dad said, winking at you. “Let’s get some pictures and then we can head over.”
Your parents snapped pictures of you and Andy and then of you both with the kids before a very helpful cast member came over and offered to take a picture of everyone together. One you were done with pictures, you made your way to dinner.
Like the princess breakfast, Ava was enamored by everything at dinner. It was fun to see her so excited. You kept sneaking peeks at your left hand, smiling whenever you saw your ring. Andy saw you looking and smiled widely.
After dinner, you all went to the shops on Main Street for some last minute shopping. Once you were all done you decided to skip the fireworks show again and head back to the hotel. Ava was anxious to pick up cookies and place them out for Santa and it had been a very eventful day.
The trip back was quick as most people were staying until the park closed. When you entered the hotel you took Ava to go get some cookies while everyone else headed up to the rooms. You knew Andy had something planned for her, but he hadn’t let you in on exactly what the surprise was.
Once Ava picked out the perfect cookies for Santa you headed up to the suite. When you walked in you both let out surprised gasps. While you’d been gone today, your suite had been turned into a Christmas wonderland. It could almost rival the North Pole. In one corner of the common space, a large tree had been set up and decorated. Garland was strung around the suite, what looked like mistletoe was hung by the balcony doors and on one wall, stockings were hung. The stockings were all Disney themed and had everyone’s names embroidered on them.
“MOMMY!” Ava exclaimed, “It’s BEAUTIFUL!”
“It really is, Monkey.” You agreed, “It’s perfect.” You looked over at Andy, smiling. You walked over to him and wrapped your arms around him, pulling him down so you could kiss him.  “Thank you.” You whispered.
“Of course,” he replied, kissing you back. “Anything to put a smile on our Princess’ face.”
Jacob helped Ava get the cookies on a plate and placed a small carton of Milk next to it with a note. Ava had written the note to Santa earlier in the day and sealed it in a hotel envelope so we couldn’t see it. She insisted it was for Santa only.
“Alright, Princess,” Andy said, “Time to get ready for bed and head off to dreamland so Santa can come.”
“Ok!” She said, hopping up and heading into the bathroom to brush her teeth and change.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen her that willing to go to bed before.” You laughed.
Your parents said goodnight and headed to their room, and Jacob went and got ready for bed after Ava was finished.
When both kids were ready for bed you went in to tuck Ava into bed.
“Mommy, can Jacob read me a bedtime story first?” Ava asked.
“That’s up to him, Monkey.” You said, “But off to sleep you go after one story.”
“I’ll read to you, Kiddo.” Jacob agreed. “Goodnight Bri.”
“Goodnight Jacob,” You smiled, “You’re already such an amazing big brother.”
“She makes it easy.” He shrugged, smiling bashfully.
“Good night Mommy!” Ava said, “I love you!”
“Goodnight, Monkey.” You replied, “I love you too. And I love you, Jacob.”
“Love you too.” He said smiling and grabbing a book to read to Ava.
You backed out of their room, quietly closing the door, and headed to your room to change and help Andy get everything set up for Ava for morning from Santa.
“Just when I think I can’t possibly love you any more than I already do, you go and prove me wrong.” You said wrapping your arms around Andy’s waist from behind and dropping a kiss on his shoulder blade. He turned in your arms and cupped your face gently in his hands, leaning down to kiss you softly.
“I love you too, Sweetheart.” He replied, leaning in to capture your lips again.
“How did I get so lucky that I get forever with you, my incredible fiance?” You asked.
“The luck is all mine, my beautiful future wife.” He replied.
Smiling, you both set to work filling stockings and getting all the gifts and Santa gifts under the tree. When you were about done, you noticed Andy pulling a small box out of a Disney bag that you didn’t remember picking up.
“I wanted to ask you something.” Andy said, looking almost as nervous as when he proposed.
“I already said, ‘Yes’.” You teased him.
“And I’m really glad you did, or this would be super awkward” He laughed, letting out a breath he’d been holding and sitting down on the bed. “I saw this necklace the day that I found your ring, and immediately knew I was going to get it for Ava. I know that by getting married, we are both gaining another child. I love Ava as if she were already mine, and I wanted to ask you, before asking her, if once we’re married, if I could legally adopt her? I want her to officially be my daughter.”
“Andy, of course you can!” You said, wrapping your arms around his neck and kissing him. “I love that you love her and want to adopt her. And I know she’ll be ecstatic when you ask her. She already looks at you like her dad.”
“Think she’ll like the necklace?” He asked, opening the box to show you. Inside the box was a delicate silver chain with a locket and tiara charm. You carefully opened the locket and inside there was a tiny picture of the two of them that’d been taken at her birthday party on one side and on the other side it said ‘Daddy’s Princess’.
“She will love it.” You confirmed, “Almost as much as she already loves you.” You put the necklace back into the box and wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him down to kiss him. “You’re perfect, my love.”
“Far from perfect, but given a lifetime with you, I may get closer to it.” He replied.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning you were woken up to Ava bounding into your room and jumping onto the bed.
“SANTA CAME!” She exclaimed, “WAKE UP! WAKE UP! IT’S CHRISTMAS!”
“We’re awake, Princess.” Andy laughed, grabbing her and pulling her down between the two of you, tickling her. “Give us a minute and we’ll be right out to see what Santa left for you.”
“HURRY!” She ordered, laughing and running off into the common area.
“Guess that’s our wake up call.” You laughed, looking at the clock next to the bed. “At least she waited until 6:30. Last year she had me up at 5.”
“I have a feeling Jacob may have been keeping her contained for a bit.” Andy guessed.
“That would make more sense.” You agreed, “Let’s go before she comes back in.”
The two of you made your way out the other room. You stopped quickly to start coffee on your way.
“Ok, dig into the stockings” You said, “Everything else waits until Nana and Papa are over here.”
You all looked through your stockings, loving the variety of treats, and small gifts that filled each one. While you were all engaged in stockings your parents came over and joined you all.
“YAY!” Ava said happily, running over to hug her grandparents. “Nana and Papa are here so we can open ALL the presents!”
“To be young and have that much energy again.” Your dad laughed.
“You’re not wrong.” Andy agreed, “If we could bottle an ounce of her energy we could make millions.”
“I don’t know if I could even handle THAT much energy.” Your mom replied.
“Alright Monkey, we’ll do presents and then breakfast” You said.
Lots of paper and ribbons later, you were down to the last couple of gifts. Jacob handed you a package at the same time that Andy handed Ava the small box.
“This is for you Princess.” Andy said. He sat down next to hear while she tore the wrapping off and opened the box.
“It’s BEAUTIFUL!” She exclaimed, beaming at Andy. “Thank you so much!”
“Open it, Monkey.” You encouraged her, tears already filling your eyes. Knowing something big was about to happen, your mom had her cell phone out recording the moment.
Ava carefully opened up the locket and saw the picture of her and Andy from her party. She was still new with reading but was good at sounding things out, and could recognize words she was more familiar with, so you weren’t surprised when she was able to read the inside of the locket.
“Daddy’s Little Princess.” She read aloud, slowly and quietly. She paused for a moment, then looked up at Andy, then to you. You nodded to her encouragingly. “You… want to be my... Daddy?”
“I very much want to be your Daddy, Princess.” Andy said, his voice thick with  emotion, “If that’s OK with you?”
“YES!” She exclaimed, launching herself into his arms, her own winding around his neck tightly. “I love you, Daddy!”
“I love you too, Princess.” He replied, tears slipping down his cheeks. Your own were wet with tears, as well. Your heart was bursting with happiness. “Your mommy and I talked and she said that I could adopt you. That means officially you’ll be my daughter too, and as soon as Mommy and I are married, we can change both hers and your last name to Barber.”
“And Jacob will be my brother for REAL?” She asked happily.
“I’m already your brother for real Kiddo.” Jacob said coming over to hug her.
“Yes he is.” Andy confirmed.
“Bri, open yours next.” Jacob said.
You smiled, picking up the package again and carefully unwrapping it. You opened the box and moved the tissue paper aside. Nestled in the paper was a bracelet with several charms on it. You looked at the charms closely, tears once more springing to your eyes.  In the middle was a charm that said ‘Mom’, with the O being minnie mouse. On each side of that charm were birthstone charms. One for Ava and one for Jacob.
“Jacob…” you said, your voice horse from emotion, “this is so beautiful. Thank You!” You reach over and pull him into a hug.
“There’s more” he whispered as he hugged you back. He pulled away and you looked back down into the box. Tucked in with the bracelet was a folded up piece of paper. You took it out, carefully unfolding it. After the first few lines you read you realized what you were reading. Your head shot up and you caught Andy’s eye over Jacob’s head. He had tears still gathered in his eyes and he nodded slightly, letting you know he knew about the paper. You assumed Andy had been responsible for having the paper formally drafted, but it was a petition of adoption.
“Jacob…” You said, “If you’re sure this is what you want, I would be honored to adopt you and be your mom. I love you, Sweetheart.”
“I’m sure.” He said firmly, “I love you too. You’ve been more of a mom to me in the last 5 months than my biological mother was in 14 years. I know what a mom is supposed to be since I met you.”
You hugged him tightly, as though you could put all his pieces back together again in that one hug. You knew it would take time, but you swore you’d help to undo the damage that Laurie had done to him.
“I think this has been the best Christmas in a long time.” Your dad said, voice breaking with emotion.
“There’s only the best yet to come.” Andy said, sitting next to you and Jacob with Ava on his lap.
“Papa is right!” Ava declared, “I wished on my birthday candles that we’d be a real family, and then I asked Santa this year to make Andy my Daddy and Jacob my big brother!”
“It looks like the birthday Fairy and Santa delivered then huh, Monkey?” You said, beaming at your daughter.
“Yup!” She agreed. “I think next, I’ll wish for a baby brother or sister!” Everyone burst out laughing. You and Andy looked at each other over her head, you’re sure your eyes were as big as saucers. He just winked and smiled.

Peach and Pear
Pairing: Park Jinyoung x female reader
Genre: strangers to lovers / fluff
Warnings: none
A/N: So I woke up the other morning and wrote this story before getting up for the day. It’s set in a place here in New Zealand and I’m really proud of this little world I randomly created.
Word count: 2945
Tumblr media
Once upon a time, there was a little peach that lost his way for the first time. The peach had always been a very successful fruit, doing many things each day to become one of the best peaches around. He was strong and healthy and he was full of talents. A lot of the other fruit admired him a great deal--
“Then why did he get lost?” a curious, high-pitched voice asked, and before you could continue with the story, someone else did for you.
“He woke up and realised he was tired of being successful because he did so much each day,” your husband Jinyoung answered, walking over to you and your daughter, who scooted out from under the blankets you had just tucked her under to reach out her little limbs towards her father. Sitting down on the opposite side of the bed from you, Jinyoung pulled her into his arms, planting a kiss on the top of her crown affectionately.
“You know this story too, Daddy?!”
“Oh yes,” he replied, shooting you a look. “Who do you think told Mummy about it?”
“I want to hear what the peach did next!” she exclaimed and you cleared your throat to continue the story.
Tumblr media
Jinyoung laid there, unmoving, as the alarm continued to shrill around the room. Normally he would turn it off and roll back over, knowing he had a second one set for when he truly had to be out of his bed. Yet, when that one sounded as well after the first one had gone on for too long and given up, he still didn’t rush out from under the blankets.
For the first time in a long while, he felt unmotivated.
He had business meetings and English lessons to attend today. Not to mention, his daily swimming practice was waiting for him to start the day. He would then head into the office, working until six precisely, where he would go out for dinner with a client who was investing more into his company. Afterwards, he was expected to hit up the gym for leg day, and finally wind up back here, finalising any paperwork before reading another chapter in a self-improvement book and go to bed by eleven.
And then the day would repeat, usually with some variation to the workday, but still with the continued structure that he expected from himself each day.
Today, however, he didn’t care for any of it.
Jinyoung wanted a break. He couldn’t remember the last time he didn’t follow the same continuous pattern that all around him had come to rely on. He was too predictable now, twenty-six and thriving as a businessman, successful enough to have his name in the tabloids often as a measure that many others in the industry strived to match. No one had expected the handsome man to create such a storm at his age, let alone at all. Yet the proof was in the pudding, or in Jinyoung’s case, his relentless endeavour to create a stable and solid life plan for him and his company.
Whilst he had worked tirelessly on building the foundation of his business, his university pals were off taking in the world. Mark had gone snowboarding at every well-known skiing resort, and Jackson was in America promoting Team Wang whilst collaborating with top names on every country’s celebrity list. Jaebum had travelled to Europe to learn more about the way music was produced there and BamBam was never in the same continent for too long, having fun being young and rich. Even Youngjae and Yugyeom had found themselves leaving this place to find better horizons. Only Jinyoung had stayed.
He wasn’t bitter that he had chosen to, but it did mean his youth was spent grinding each day and not truly lived. As he laid in his bed, still uncaring that the second alarm had come and gone, he realised he craved reaching out for what he had missed out on. He wanted to explore a foreign place and do so without much planning.
He was usually the research and implement type of guy, but today, he simply packed a small suitcase with the necessities for travel and climbed into his car, heading towards the airport.
With passport in hand, he watched the departure board for one of the places to stand out to him. Many flights were heading out within the next couple of hours, though there was one about to leave in forty minutes. Striding towards a desk, he smiled at the clerk and asked to buy a ticket to that destination.
“Sir, are you sure?” she asked, slightly perplexed by the sudden passenger request. Jinyoung nodded and she cringed. “There’s no business class left and it will take-”
“I’ll take it,” he confirmed, sliding his credit card across the tabletop towards her.
And that was how Jinyoung found himself in the back row of a twelve-hour plane ride to New Zealand.
Tumblr media
“Wow!” exclaimed your daughter, eyes round with the adventure. “The little peach travelled all the way here! Did he make any friends?”
“Well,” you said, glancing at your husband before nodding once. “He turned up unexpectedly and asked to stay at a pear’s broken down bed and breakfast.”
“Which was basically in the middle of nowhere,” Jinyoung added on with a smile, glancing over at you fondly. “And it didn’t have any central heating.”
“That was because the pear herself hadn’t quite found out how to fix that problem, and the peach had chosen to get on a plane without checking that New Zealand was in the middle of winter.”
Jinyoung laughed, placing his daughter back under the blankets before continuing the story.
Tumblr media
You blinked at the man standing upon your porch, shivering in his thin coat, the snow that was falling outside having covered his dark hair. And when you realised you weren’t hallucinating, you gasped, jerking open the old door across the wooden floors and stepped aside.
The foreign man dove inside out of the howling wind, and you shut it out with some effort in closing the door before stepping in front of him.
“How did you… I mean, it’s freezing out and you’re barely layered up. Please, follow me to the fireplace, you need to warm up.”
Once he was positioned as close to the fire as he could get, the man unravelled his arms around his waist and outstretched them towards the embers to thaw out. You left him there and dashed down to the kitchen, flicked on the jug and waited for it to boil.
Just who was this strange man? And how had he stumbled across your place at this time of night?
When your uncle died earlier in the year, his estate had been left to you. Your father, and his brother, had passed away some years prior and since your parents had been separated, what your uncle owned had been rightfully designated as yours.
“An inn?!” you echoed the words the lawyer had just read out, sitting up further in your chair. “My estranged uncle owned an inn?!”
“I wouldn’t be too excited, the place hasn’t had any guests in years,” the lawyer remarked, but you were already looking at the photos of the charming building, imagining what a bit of paint and gardening could do for the place.
So that’s how you wound up leaving the city life for the small township in the Buller district that had less than 1000 people living there. And, it was definitely going to take more than paint and some gardening to fix this place.
“You’re as crazy as your uncle was for trying to do up that house,” Katie, the owner of the only tearooms in Reefton, mentioned when you came in for lunch earlier in the day. “It’s got more problems than the number of people living here.”
You smiled grimly. “You don’t need to remind me.”
“Why not sell it and go back to where you came from, Y/N? The land would be worth some. I’m sure a farmer around here would happily bulldoze down that eyesore of a home and run his sheep or cattle over it just fine. In fact, I think Bill was-”
Imagining the crumbling building no longer existing didn’t make you feel any better. Glancing up at Katie, you shook your head. “It’s Reefton Estate. You can’t just go tearing down history like that.”
“There’s history, Y/N and then there’s money traps. Sure, in its heyday that place must have been spectacular and full of guests all the time with the gold rush and all. But this isn’t the eighteen hundreds. There’s only the novelty of finding gold at Shanty Town if you’re a tourist these days.”
“I don’t need gold, and I can’t just sell up.”
So you got stuck in with what you could do. You hired a contractor from Greymouth to come and look at your home, and with an extremely long list of projects thereafter, you started tackling them one by one. The place was liveable, but it still had a long way to go to be back to its former glory.
And you certainly were slower than most, being a one-woman team, with a trickle of funds available. As a joke, you placed an advert up online looking for volunteers to help lovingly restore the estate.
Of course, no one had come, until now.
Handing the stranger a mug of tea, you sat down beside him and smiled gently. “Did you mean to come here?”
“It’s a long story,” he said, smiling weakly. “I’m Jinyoung and you are?”
“Y/N,” you replied, holding out your hand in greeting. He took it, and your eyes nearly popped out of your head with how cold he still was. Rubbing it repeatedly, you tried to warm him up until Jinyoung gripped at your wrist and eyed you warily.
You balked and let him go. “Sorry, it’s just that you’re so cold. Not many people venture out at night around here without thermals on.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” he mentioned with a soft smile, nodding once. “Thank you for the tea.”
“It’s the least I can do.”
Before the night wore out, Jinyoung had told you of his rash plan. He had left Korea and come to New Zealand on a whim, and again, chose his next destination in the same way as he had his last.
You gasped. “Of all the places to choose in New  Zealand, you ended up in Greymouth?!”
“To be fair, I wasn’t really aware. I thought it would be bigger and have more people,” he admitted and you laughed.
“The coast has people; just they tend to know each other. Oh boy. It won’t be long until word spreads about you coming here either.”
“How will that happen when it’s just us two here?” Jinyoung asked and you sighed.
You didn’t want to have to explain it tonight. When you had arrived from Christchurch, it was as if you had a giant beacon on your head that every resident of Reefton could see from their homes. You had been inundated with visitors both very friendly and extremely nosy for an entire week before you felt that you had met almost everyone. And although you got used to the gossiping nature of the place, you still didn’t quite like it either.
You somehow felt protective of Jinyoung. Besides, when the light arrived in the morning, you were certain he would climb into his hired vehicle and continue on his sightseeing ways.
However, you found him merely staring at your entryway, aghast.
“Morning,” you called and he whipped around, trying to wipe the perturbed look off his face. Clearing his throat, you shook your head to stop him. “I know, it needs a lot of attention.”
“Only one fireplace works, the rooms are freezing even with the space heater you gave me and you have a hole in the ceiling above me.”
“There’s also the west wing that has two inaccessible rooms, one of the bathrooms upstairs is blocked and there’s no way anyone will be able to stay here in the next few years to produce any revenue,” you added on with a smile, handing Jinyoung the coffee you had made him. He thanked you silently, before allowing his gaze to travel up the walls again. “It would probably make nice firewood to some farmer who tore it down for the land to run his animals over-”
“It has charm,” Jinyoung said then, cutting you off. You merely stared at him, wondering who he really was. He was the only person you had met since inheriting this place that had said those words to you. “It has a lot of potential to become something amazing, after a lot of work, of course.”
“I think so too.”
“Do you have the blueprints at all?” he asked and you cocked your head to the side.
“Thought you were sightseeing?”
“Well, there certainly seems to be a lot to look at just within this house, don’t you think?”
Jinyoung said he would stay for two weeks, helping you with projects that could be started with a bit of manual labour. Two weeks turned into a month, with trips to Greymouth for further supplies. And after then, you stopped asking when he was going to go back to Korea and his company. Part of you didn’t want to know the answer, having grown attached to the man. He was more playful than you had expected, and you spent most of your days laughing and soon your nights curled up together in front of the fireplace.
Of course, the gossip mill ran wild. Jinyoung didn’t care, and after three months, he even held your hand as you walked downtown, allowing the nosy store owners to pick up their phones and ring around that you had found yourself a man.
Tumblr media
“Did the peach ever return home?”
“He did, three times,” Jinyoung stated, holding up the right amount of fingers before counting them down as he spoke. “First, because he felt he had to go. But he had found he could run his company from New Zealand with relative success.”
“Especially once he invested in better internet connection at the inn,” you interjected with a knowing look and Jinyoung rolled his eyes before dropping another finger.
“He came back here because he couldn’t stop thinking about the house and worried that pear would end up hurting herself badly. Which, had he not gotten on that plane and walked through the door when he did, pear would have fallen off a ladder onto the ground.”
“Instead she fell on top of the peach,” you said with a laugh and Jinyoung nodded.
“And the third time he went back was to finalise the sale of his company and bring his parents back with him.”
Your daughter sat up eagerly again. “Why did his parents come?! Did he miss them?!”
“Of course. But there was another reason too,” Jinyoung said, glancing at you and reaching out for your hand. You took it and he rubbed the set of rings that lay over your left finger. “The peach and pear got married.”
“Wait a minute!” your daughter breathed, pointing at her father and then you repeatedly before clapping and squealing. “That’s you and Mummy!”
“And now we live in Reefton Estate together, don’t we?” you told her, and her little head bounced up and down.
“Which thankfully has heating.”
“And no more holes in the ceilings.”
“The west wing can be rented out to staying guests.”
“And the peach and pear lived happily ever after.”
“With their own little peachy-pear!” cried your daughter to end the story, which had you all laughing, hugging the sweet child.
And once she had finally drifted off to sleep, you stepped out into the hallway on tiptoes, trying not to make the floorboards creak and wake her back up.
Of course, the house had been repaired. But it still carried most of its original parts, and definitely needed more work. The floors were next on the list to replace.
For now, tiptoeing back to your room down the hall was the best option you had. And when Jinyoung shut the door behind you, he pulled you into his arms, resting his head on your shoulder. You leaned back into him, cherishing the moment.
Mostly for his warmth, and he knew it.
“We need to work on the heating in our room.”
“It made sense to do the guest rooms at the time so we could make money,” you reminded, spinning around softly so you could face him. “Besides, I remember you saying at the time that we had each other to keep warm with.”
“That’s how peachy-pear came along,” he pointed out with a low chuckle and you slapped his shoulder playfully.
“We should get that heating sorted quickly then in case we end up growing more fruit,” you teased but Jinyoung shook his head in answer, leaning down to capture your lips briefly.
“I don’t mind growing more fruit with you.”
“Uh-huh.”
“It’s one way to keep us both warm, too.”
“Why did you turn up on my doorstep all those years ago?” you breathed out, staring at your husband lovingly. You still couldn’t quite believe your luck.
As if he read your mind, Jinyoung smiled. “It wasn’t luck that brought me here. It was a need to find my forever home.”
“You chose well in a broken-down inn,” you retorted, to which he chuckled again.
“It has its charm,” he said before nuzzling his nose into yours. “And it has you.”

Lurking in the Shadows
Simon "Ghost" Riley
Task Force 141 - Disbanded
400 meters east of Safe House 110197, Brazil
Ghost checked his phone by the hotel nightstand. It's 3:34 am and not a single notification from the team. They probably believed he was out to get intel and didn't bother to look for him. He was fine with that.
"What time is it?" a female groan murmured beside him as she circled her soft arms around his bare chest.
"3:34" he whispered, making the girl giggle as he ran his hand on her hair.
"We aren't supposed to be cuddling like this, remember?" She said, sighing as she got up slowly. Ghost immediately followed, groaning as well.
"I'm sorry Alexandra. It's just…"
"Don't worry. I know this sounds too odd for you at the moment. To be honest I got carried away too…" the interpol agent frowned and wrapped herself up with a towel, making her way to the showers. Ghost trailed his eyes at her and sighed.
"What have you gotten yourself into, Simon?" he murmured and turned to his phone, rereading their conversation.
It was as clear as day that they both agreed to this whole "No strings attached" thing together and he only said yes because he was too broken about France. He needed someone who could treat him well but this was the closest thing he could find.
Sure, he had no regrets about the woman, she was amazing, but while his body was happy, the heart yearned for something more. It was getting worse every day especially when he woke up to see the two lovebirds chasing against each other around the house.
Just as he placed his phone beside hers, Alexandra's notification tone beeped and her screen lit up, as it showed a message from an unknown number.
Simon wanted to take a peek but the message itself is encrypted, his mind wandered more as the security detail of such a message meant that it was of high importance. It might've been from the EMP machinery they're still investigating on which could also be a lead to Nero. He's debating whether he's going to ask her for information just as he intended to, but he's scared that she'll think he's just using her.
"Hey, you got a message." Simon called her from the bed.
"Who's it from?" she asked, her voice was faint as the shower sounds concealed it. Ghost wore his pants and grabbed her phone, leaning by the bathroom door as he announced the details.
"It's encrypted." he murmured. The water stopped pouring and the shower curtains peeked open.
She didn't even bother how she looked as she quickly wiped off her fingers and grabbed her phone.
"Shit." she cursed scrolling to the contents of text, which Ghost observed as very lengthy.
"Wh-" he paused and hesitated. He didn't tell her of their little rogue act so any questions might come off as suspicious.
"Shepherd wants to exchange Samantha for the I.P. Address." she mumbled, looking at Ghost.
"What's his deal?"
"To fund his EMP Nuke that he'll get from Nero." she replied as she continued scrolling.
"With New York already in chaos, the President would most likely be desperate enough to fund this, now that the economy is in shambles."
"What's stopping them from fighting against the New York attacks?"
"We have no idea where the small EMP interferences are, and our strongest lead is that the missing persons are being manually controlled to travel and situate themselves near the stock exchange where they blindly emit blasts through their phones. Like the one we found back in Europe."
"They walk and interact like normal civilians, so with millions of people around the city. It'll look like we're looking for a needle on a haystack." She added, wrapping herself with a towel and quickly dressed up.
"Where are you going now?" He asked as she walked past him.
"I'll try to talk some sense into someone who can talk some sense to the president. The EMP nuke is not a joke." She spat, the worry in her eyes made Ghost want to console her. But now was not the time for that.
"Can I ask a question?" Ghost said.
"Be quick." She said, putting on her jacket and collecting her stuff.
"Do you have any idea where Shepherd is?"
~
The sun wasn't up when Ghost decided to return to the Safe house. He expected that it'll still be closed but it looked like Price and Jack were already sipping coffee by the balcony.
"Where have you been?" Price asked, his tone wasn't that strict so Ghost decided to lie.
"I just took a walk around the town." he replied, hoping that there will be no more follow up questions.
"For Twelve hours. Okay." Price noted as Ghost got inside the house. Ever since he started this little team of rogue soldiers, Price became protective. And Ghost knew that it was bound to happen. Any injuries under his care will not be funded by any higher department and they need to be careful.
He immediately accessed their little command center and began searching. He got two locations to research on, and he needed to act fast.
He did the best he could, hacking into public and unsecured CCTV footage, squinting his eyes over the poor quality videos just to look for Samantha. She was last spotted in Moscow about 30 minutes ago. Ghost had to admit his cryllic knowledge is a little low and his fingers were trembling in panic. He needed help.
He slowly creaked the door open and saw Alex, Soap and Roach peacefully sleeping, Roach was upside down and clung onto Alex's metal leg, a sight worth taking a photo on but he didn't. It almost made him guilty to wake John up, but knowing the guy, he'll understand the urgency.
"Psst." he nudged his shoulders. It felt very awkward now that he's still frustrated about the guy winning France's heart but he needed to act professional, besides no one but Alex knows about his emotions toward the duo.
Soap groaned and slowly opened his eyes, flinching at the skull face that woke him up.
"Bollocks!" he exclaimed, making Alex and Gary shuffle and reposition while Ghost quickly pulled his mask and shushed him.
"Sorry Soap. But I need your help." he whispered as he slowly got up and collected himself following him outside.
"What about?" his heavy accent echoed against the quiet halls while he rubbed sleep off his eyes.
"Russian Alphabet."
"Okay." he murmured lazily. "What for?"
"A lead on Samantha." he said. The expression on Soap's face changed from sleepy-scotsman to what-are-we-waiting-for as he jumped to the control center and began typing.
The two teamed up together translating codes of texts and typing commands on different kinds of webcams all across Russia, all they had was a barely readable plate number of a black van which allegedly housed Samantha and three of Shepherd's men which were designated to protect her.
Hours passed and they barely got through any possible lead. The rest of the team woke up one by one and slowly helped the duo. Once Alex woke up, they got another additional pair of hands to help and it made them more efficient. If only Ghost knew that Alex knew Russian, it would've been less awkward. But then again, he needed this kind of interaction with Soap, so he could finally be comfortable around them.
Then there it was. The first solid lead with Samantha's face on it. A hotel not far from the airport. Alex couldn't help but creep his head close to the monitor, his eyes had that longing look on the blurry screen. He was sure it's her.
They later reported their findings to Price and Jack, and it was indeed a lead worth pursuing. But when asked how they got such info overnight, they all turned to Ghost to which he said that it's still within the phone's encrypted messages. Price and Jack nodded and Ghost sighed in relief. He didn't want anyone to know about his little fling.
"Then let's have breakfast and have a little briefing after. I'll make calls to Nikolai to arrange us a visit to his homeland." Price announced as everyone, especially Alex's, face lit up and felt energized.
HAPPY TRAVELER INN PARKING AREA
MOSCOW, RUSSIA
8:52 PM
Ghost set up his little command set up at the back of the van. The plan was easy, Alex, Soap and Roach sneaked inside her room, silently knocking down the three guards, taking their clothes and escorting her back to the van to safety. While Price would take down their driver and replace the getaway vehicle with this one.
The group of five didn't bring any weapons so as to not raise suspicion, after all they're just sneaking Samantha from Shepherd's hands. No need for violence.
"Can you hear me, lads?" Ghost muttered softly against the microphone.
"Loud and clear, mate." Gary responded.
"Yes pal." Alex commented.
"Aye lad. I can hear ye." Soap added.
Price gave a thumbs up from the driver's seat. Ghost pressed some buttons and after a few moments, he now had access to the whole building's cameras and some controls.
"Chuckles, I'm in." Ghost commented to which Gary snickered. It looked like he was the only one who understood the reference.
"Okay lads. The janitors are on their break. They're inside that incoming elevator." Ghost informed as he looked at the live feed. The three carefully grabbed the janitors without intention of hurting them. Carrying some rope and cloth, they quickly tied the janitors and hid them on a blind spot away from the camera's eyes. Ghost could hear Alex muttering something to the three in Russian, he couldn't translate it fully but it had the word sorry, don't worry and okay in it. After that, they immediately wore their janitor uniforms and the janitors were already on their way to the 10th floor.
"I don't have cameras inside the rooms. But your hallway is clear."
"Okay. Your ride home is ready." Price muttered, Ghost never noticed the old man exit the van but apparently he already took care of the driver.
"Great. It's all on you three now. Let's save Samantha." Ghost said as the cameras show three janitors knocking on Samantha's room.

Fairytale Complex - [Undertale | Sans x Reader]
[Gender Neutral, Frisk's Parent Reader | Slow Burn]
Chapter Seventeen | Chill

Alternate Chapter Title: Rapunzel, Rapunzel
• • •
You wake up to an arm around your waist and a prominent numbness to your cheek, pressed up against a hard surface. There's the sound of the fan turned on to the highest level, providing some cold even with the thick blanket you can feel wrapped around you. The wall clock ticks by the distance and you can hear someone else's heartbeat apart from yours.
When you open your eyes and see who's the person you're with, you jolt out of the couch, stumbling to the floor. Your glasses are at the top of the monster's skull, held up by a thin shield of magic, and kept safe from being squashed while you slept against him. You take them, slip them on, and look around to assess your surroundings better to notice he's still sleeping on the very same corner and position you both watched the movie in. Your reflection on the television allows you to view marks on your cheek for how long you stayed that way. The next thing on your mind's checking the time, making you search around for your phone and find out it's seven in the morning, an hour of delay present in your schedule.
If it was around eight when you sat down with him and the movie lasted around two hours, you'd slept far more than necessary. Not only that, but you'd fallen asleep on the same couch as the person you were still trying to sort out your feelings for. You try to make some clearer memory of what happened after the movie ended, yet it's all clouded after the credits rolled.
The sound of the couch creaking makes you look back to the skeleton to see he's woken up, irises looking lost for just a fraction of a second before he sees you on the floor. Amusement blooms on his face, and he comments nothing as he offers his hand to you. You take it -- albeit, warily -- taking note on how much distance you keep between him and you.
No matter what happened yesterday, you weren't letting your guard down.
"From the looks of it," he says, grinning, "I'm guessin' you woke up first?"
You aim to reply, though you look away and let his hand go to cover up a yawn, said action helping shake your leftover grogginess aside. You take it again after, having it offered to you once more. "Yeah," you answer, sighing. "But do you… Do you remember what happened after the movie ended? My mind's all fuzzy."
He sits up straighter, tugs you off the floor, and lets go afterwards. While you're still disoriented, his face looks refreshed and his posture looks far more relaxed than you would ever expect it to be after spending so long sleeping that way: in a rigid and plain uncomfortable angle and with you weighing him down for what had to be longer than eight hours. "Sorry to break it to ya, but you fell asleep way before that, pal."
"So you just let me sleep on you the whole night?" You refuse to believe him, not only for how ridiculous that sounds, but for the hour it is, and what you had to do before going off to work. "I doubt it."
Too sudden for your liking, his expression changes from humoured to tense, and his gaze diverts from yours. "Wanna know the full truth, then?"
You nod.
He lets out a sound between a huff and a chuckle and says, "Frisk came in by the time the movie was almost over, blankets and all." His voice turns strained, and he has to take a break to recover, embarrassment found in it. "They tucked us in and left without a word, so I, uh… I didn't really know what to do after that."
Your phone alarm goes off, cutting the conversation short. You pick it up, turn it off, and fight back your curiosity over learning more about what happened last night, and just why you'd been so tired as to remember that little about it. Your work schedule was no different from usual, and you were even working less with the current weather, meaning there was no reasonable excuse for you to be defending your exhaustion. Even if you redeemed those lost hours by taking up extra shifts, and even if you were a lot more stressed with your research over monsters and deciding which ones were safe to have around Frisk, that was no reason for you to be like this.
If you were saving yourself some trouble by not needing to search for local babysitters anymore all thanks to having Toriel and other monsters around to help you with that, and if you had moments to spare like for the night spent at the hotel, then you should have more than enough time to rest.
You continue to fight back excuses with that same line of reasoning for each one and force yourself to focus on your goals.
A knock on the door sounds, leading you to stop your inner conflict to go get it.
Before you can even make a motion for the door though, Frisk rushes out of the hallway -- without sparing a glance at you or the monster -- and does just that, excitement clear and undoubted in their expression. They stand on their tiptoes and peek through the peephole before opening it. As soon as they do, their curious look changes for a smile. A bright gaze shows on their face and they swing the door open. They plunge the visitor into a hug, Brenda's name being called out along with it.
You're still adrift enough for your mind to take a while to process what's going on. You're not sure what to do anymore, and even less what to say in response to the sudden changes happening day-by-day. So far, you were plenty aware almost each and every monster Frisk knew had been involved one way or the other with the Royal Guard, leading to the conclusion they had all once sought after your kind.
That being said, what were you doing here, sleeping on the same couch with one of those people?
What confirmed Sans's words from yesterday were in any manner true, and what guaranteed he wouldn't go back to his former self had he the remote chance to?
You'd fallen asleep in the arms of the same man responsible for acting as a sentry for the Underground. You'd allowed him to enter your home, and had spent a night at the same hotel room as him. Even if he hadn't fulfilled his job exactly as it was commanded to him, you were still cautious of his presence, his actions, and the knowledge he kept hidden by remaining mellow and unbothered.
He used to engage in science, yet now he's just selling hot dogs and flirting himself to dead ends with you!
"We can't let her see you," you blurt out, remembering who's visiting. "She'll lose it if she thinks I'm dating you and that you sell hot dogs for a living!" Your words are hushed, but your worries still show through -- almost exclaimed, weren't you reminding yourself to keep quiet.
The skeleton flares his nose cavity and quirks an eye socket. "That's fine with me. But how're those two even related, though?"
When you hear Frisk is ending their talk with her, you grab Sans by the arm and lead him off to the hallway with you. You open the nearest door available and push him into the room with you. The most predictable predicament possible shows up when you turn around, lie against the door, and notice it's your bedroom -- thankfully tidy for the public to see.
"Trust me," you say, huffing, "She'll be angrier about those two things more than how that guy at the bus was with me." Feeling you need to clarify your words, you compose yourself and sit down on the middle edge of your bed, folding your hands over your lap as you fumble with your fingers. Then, you face back to the skeleton, meeting his irises. "Not that she'll be angry about who's the one I'm spending my time with, but she's just... very particular of who I let into my house after that whole thing with Jerry happened."
"But what does my job gotta do with anything?" he asks, chuckling, "Is she the type who doesn't see those kinda jobs as real ones?"
"Not exactly," you say, shifting on your seat. "I used to live from paycheck to paycheck -- the both of us, actually."
You breathe in deep and attempt to calm yourself down by closing your eyes for a while. Then, you sigh and open them. "She doesn't hate people with street jobs, but…" You hesitate, still needing to prepare to say the words, at least. "To quote her: 'Don't you ever dare bring someone else into this house again, unless they…" Your face is burning, yet you remind yourself it's best to be honest. If the monster had been that way with you yesterday, and if he wasn't toying around with you, you wanted to try doing the same. If he wasn't and you were exposing yourself far too much in comparison, that time would then come, and you would make sure to not trust him anymore. "They agree and prove to be a good, well..." You could drink another whole gallon of water were you to have it available right now. "...a good stepparent for Frisk."
You're still facing him directly; ironically, you can't bring yourself to look elsewhere. "She gave me that lecture a really, really long time ago, but I just can't find the courage to… to fight against that. I even wrote that day down in a journal to remind myself of my mistakes."
That seems to be enough for him to break the ice first, saying, "Your mistakes?"
"Who else's fault could it be? If I hadn't let Jerry off the hook so easily, then maybe Frisk could've been living a much better future. I… I could've given Frisk a happier life if I'd just refused to let him g-"
You cut yourself off when you notice he's sat down next to you, keeping an arm's length of distance between you. "You're worryin' too much about this." His gaze appears serious, though you don't want to take it that way, considering what you've confessed to him just now. "Maybe those first years were tough, but I'd say the kid's pretty happy now, and from the looks of Jerry, he's doing well, too. Even if he's bein' a real jealous jerk 'bout it these days."
Too lost in your thoughts, you don't notice you're tearing up until a drop falls on your lap, sleepwear soaking it in.
"You should throw that journal away -- or at least, rip that page off." A hint of mirth mixes with his concern, and his distance is now a hand's length apart. "...Not only 'cause you've already acknowledged where things went wrong, but 'cause you're only torturing yourself, always keepin' that with you."
You move closer to him, vanishing what distance remains as you let him hold your hand, eyes fixed on his face. "You-"
"Oh, hell no!"
By the voice alone and its sheer strength, you can already tell it's game over for you.
Brenda stands by the open door, moving her pronounced and unwavering glare between you and the monster. She takes in the situation, from the sight of a stranger in your bedroom, to you holding hands with him, and the fact you both still look like you've just woken up. While you don't blame her for assuming, you want to avoid bringing up discussions like those again. You were done with relationship drama for a lifetime, not only for how bad you were at managing stress, but for the needless trouble it could cast onto the remote lifestyle you've built through the years: keeping to yourself without getting too involved in the lives of others, no matter family, friend, or partner.
She enters the bedroom when the skeleton greets her in, a quick and simple 'nice to meet you' sufficient for her to stop near the door and settle all her attention on him.
"You're (Y/N)'s godmother, right?"
Sans stands up, his tone and posture both on equal levels formal as he offers his hand out to her. "I'm Comic Sans Serif. Former servant of the Royal Guard." Brenda takes it, though she still has a wary eye on him.
"And what's your relationship with (Y/N)?" she asks, unfazed. "I remember they were going to meet you at the train station a few months ago, but I do not see why you're allowed to be here."
An expression similar to when Frisk asked him if you were dating shows up, but he soon recovers and replies with, "Our relationship right now's the definition of 'it's complicated', but we're still pretty good friends."
"Define 'pretty good', mister Serif," she demands, keeping her hand in his. "Are you their man-friend, or something of the like? You… You don't really look like the most promising type of guy, I'll admit."
"Frankly, we're still workin' things out, but I don't mind being their 'man-friend', if that's what ya wanna call it."
While you would like to kick both him and your godmother outside or call them out on their blunt and plain audacious commentary, you stay back and watch as a dangerous, downright preying look unfolds from your godmother's gaze. She shakes his hand, but way too strong for it not to hurt, even for someone made primarily out of bones and magic. She squeezes hard enough to make the air bubbles between them pop and for you to hiss in response to the pain he's being brought into. When she lets him go, her gaze more than precipitates itself on you, capturing you similar to how a snake would do with a mouse. "My flight got delayed, I almost lost my soul with how much turbulence there was on the way here, and I'm still jet-lagged." Her scowl's as deep as her furrow, worsening by the second. "So either you explain to me what the hell went on these past few months I was gone, or we're going to have to talk soon."
You're not backing down without a fight -- confident in yourself or not.
"I'm an adult already," you reply, matching her scowl with a glare. "That was seven years ago, Brenda. I'm thankful for the help you gave me back then, but I don't need you lecturing me over who I should date anymore."
"I should if the guy you're dating willingly admits what's going on between you!"
"It's not like that!" You face his side for a moment, seeing he's still adjusting his hand back to mobility. "He's-"
"Are you really trying to defend him now, (Y/N)?" she snaps, stomping her foot and crossing her arms. "And are you really gonna let something like that happen again? He sounds worse than Jerry!"
"I've been alone since he and I ended." You try not to let your voice crack or falter, determined to be just as strong as her. "I get I screwed up that time, but I've learned and I'm still learning even now. You don't have to rub it in!"
"Oh, please." Brenda rolls her eyes and throws her arms up in the air, scoffing. "Then cry about it, why don't you? I just want what's best for y-"
"Then maybe I will, dammit."
You wipe a tear off your cheek, scowl, and head out of the room, not bothering to look back.
"Say whatever you want to say about me," you add, keeping your back to her. "But don't drag him into this. I feel bad enough as it is -- indecisive and... And just outright incapable of being honest about how I feel." You clench your hands and spare one last glance at her, holding back tears. "He's not joking. I… I could've told him to stop trying to flirt with me, and I could've said no when he offered to take me out for dessert, but I still went with it. And now I'm denying what's happening, l- leading him on knowing I can't devote myself to another relationship as serious as the last, and… And k- knowing I still hate myself for it." You wipe away the wetness on your cheeks, sniffling to prevent things from getting messier. "Everything feels like it's changing, except for me!" You pause and take a break, regaining some calm through a breath. "Frisk brought an entire civilization back with them here, you moved away as soon as you found a better job, and all the close friends I used to have are gone."
Another break, and another breath.
"Do I really have no right to move on?"

Important Notice
I got my first dose of the vaccine recently, and so now I'm in the process of resting away the tired/soreness it brought. Body says sleep and oof ouch my bones, but college says with great power comes great responsibility. Worth it, though!
...And of course, this means a change/delay in the update schedule until I recover.
For now, I'll try to update around once to thrice a week as customary, but on Tuesday, Thursday, and/or Saturday evenings/nights.
Still... I'm not making any long-lasting promises, lol. Y'all already know how finicky my health is!
As always, take care and stay safe. :-)

A Nightmare Turned to Dream - a kiralfonse ficlet
A/N: uwu I don’t normally post much fanfiction... but gosh darn it after that Book IV finale in Heroes I needed to put metaphorical pen to metaphorical paper.
Be warned that this contains MEGA spoilers for the Book IV finale in FE:Heroes. If you’re worried you might get spoiled, close tumblr, go play the chapter and then come back (or don’t I’m not your mom).
Anyways, a quick shoutout to my pal @eelkonig for giving this baby a once over. I don’t know what I’d do without you!
The fic’s below the cut! Enjoy!
Kiran woke with a start and jolted into an upright position. Their hands, which had been desperately gripping the horn that would return them home, were now gripping the soft sheets that had been covering their prone form. Kiran took a moment to slowly rub their thumbs against the downy fabric as the rest of their senses gradually came to. They slowly turned their head to take in their surroundings. It appeared that they were back in their room at the castle. Their room was sparse but convenient, only containing the necessities: the bed on which they lay, a small desk to lay their maps and tactical journals, and a small wardrobe that held several replicas of their signature cloak.
Kiran slowly swung their legs over the edge of their bed to tentatively touch the cobblestone floor with their feet. When their limbs didn’t seem to show signs of sinking beneath the sturdy surface any time soon, Kiran released a breath they hadn’t realized they’d been holding.
“That’s a good sign,” they muttered to themselves as they grabbed their boots, which had been laid on the floor at the foot of the bed. They tugged their hood a little more over their face as they gave their room another onceover before leaving. As soon as they stepped into the hallway, they heard a voice from behind that stopped them in their tracks. A voice they’d thought they’d never hear again.
“Oh, Kiran!” Alfonse exclaimed as he continued towards Kiran. “I am glad to see you finally awake! You had me worried.”
All Kiran could do was stare blankly. ‘Can I actually trust this to be real? Is he really…?
Alfonse blinked. “...Is something wrong? What is this blank expression you have?”
Before Kiran could reply, Commander Anna came from behind Kiran to join them. “Excellent. Now we’re all awake again, with Kiran back!” the red-headed commander exclaimed as she smiled towards their tactician.
Alfonse took note of Kiran’s still blank-looking expression and tried his best to catch their gaze. “So do you not remember anything either?”
Kiran feigned ignorance and shook their head no. If they’d all forgotten, there was no reason for them to share the details of the nightmare they’d just experienced.
“Let me explain what I can,” Alfonse began. “All of us slept for three days and three nights. And suddenly, now, we all woke up, one by one.” The prince rubbed the back of his neck nervously when Kiran’s expression continued to not change. “You were the last of use to wake, following just after Sharena.”
The princess in question yawned loudly and stretched her arms towards the ceiling as she appeared from around the corner and walked in their general direction. “Whew! That was a great nap…” Sharena mumbled absently to herself. When she spotted her compatriots in discussion, she quickly rushed to close the scant distance between them. “Oh, good morning!”
Alfonse and Anna nodded their greetings while Kiran continued to stare and take everything in.
“It seems like we were all sleeping for quite a while, weren’t we?” The princess brought a finger to her lip and her expression turned inquisitive. “Why did we all fall asleep, though?” she wondered aloud as she closed her eyes thoughtfully. “It feels like I had a really long dream, but the details are...gone!” Seemingly unconcerned, Sharena simply shrugged and erupted into a bright smile. “Oh well! I’m sure we have nothing to worry about. We should focus on the time we lost to our nap! Time to get out there and take today’s missions by storm!”
Sharena’s boundless optimism was so contagious that Kiran found they were finally able to crack a smile. Some of the tension they’d been holding in their shoulders dissipated as Alfonse inquired about the schedule for the day. As the quartet went about actually performing the errands expected of them throughout the day, Kiran found themself gradually relaxing with each passing moment. They found comfort in the familiar routine: overseeing training, going over strategy, checking in on the heroes, and so on.
When it came time to patrol the perimeter of the castle, Alfonse had swiftly volunteered to join Kiran when they’d asked the Order of Heroes as a collective. Normally such enthusiasm would’ve made Kiran blush; they still weren’t quite sure what their feelings involving Alfonse were. But when they thought back to the sight of Alfonse’s unconscious, prone form, and Freyja’s declaration that Alfonse, because he had cheated death, had been erased from existence, they… they…
“Kiran?”
A warm, strong hand wrapped around theirs brought them back to the present. Kiran blinked as Alfonse tried to peer beneath their hood and meet their gaze. Kiran instinctually used their other hand to pull their hood lower across their face.
“I-I’m sorry if that was too forward,” Alfonse stammered as he turned to face away from the summoner. “It was just… you’d started to slow down. And when you stopped walking besides me entirely I… well I…”
“It’s okay,” Kiran reaffirmed, squeezing the hand still holding theirs. “Sorry about that. I guess I got lost in thought…” Their voice trailed off as they glanced towards Alfonse, whose head turned to gaze at them once again at the same time. It took a moment for them to realize just how corny that must have looked, but when realization finally hit the pair found themselves glancing in opposite directions yet again.
Kiran willed their heart to settle, bringing their free hand to rest against their chest as they steadied their breathing. The duo stood together in silence still holding hands for what felt like forever. Kiran felt Alfonse adjust his posture slightly beside them. Chancing a glance his direction, it looked as though Alfonse had something to ask. But his voice caught in his throat as his sister and Commander Anna bounded towards them. The duo immediately ceased contact and tried to nonchalantly move their hands away from the other.
“There you two are!” Anna exclaimed exasperatedly. “We’ve been looking everywhere for you two.”
“My apologies,” said Alfonse, stepping towards the two women before him. “Are we needed for something?”
“Why else would we search for you?” Sharena quipped before groaning quickly. “Anyways, that’s not what’s important right now. What’s important is that Loki has been spotted just outside the forest. And she has units with her.”
No more words needed to be said as the small group jumped into action. As they all but sprinted towards the forest, Alfonse briefly glanced towards the summoner running just behind him. He’d been just about to ask them if they were okay. He’d noticed just how out of it they’d seemed since earlier that morning.
‘I suppose that will just have to wait.’ Alfonse thought despondently to himself as he returned his gaze forward. ‘They’re probably fine.’
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Oh, hello. Lovely weather, isn’t it?” Loki cooed, twirling a loose strand of her magenta hair around her finger as she shot the Order of Heroes a disparaging look. “How have you been? Well, I hope.”
“Skip the pleasantries, Loki,” Anna spat as she stepped forwards. “What have you done this time?”
Loki’s face feigned shock as she brought her free hand to cover her mouth. “Me? I haven’t done a thing. If you want someone to blame… well…” The witch’s lips upturned into a devilish grin. “I wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise.” Loki’s gaze scanned across their group a moment. When her eyes descended upon Kiran, her eyes widened with acknowledgement. “...Ah! Forgive my rudeness. Welcome back, Kiran!”
Kiran’s eyes grew wide as Loki stared them down. They gulped reflexively but did their best to otherwise hide their discomfort.
“Did you have a pleasant dream?”
Kiran’s breath hitched in their throat as images of the nightmare they’d just returned from flashed in their mind. Without a second thought, Kiran surged forward and aimed Breidablik at Loki.
“Kiran!” Alfonse shouted as he immediately chased after them. Sharena and Anna quickly shared a glance before joining their comrades in rushing the enemy.
The battle didn’t last long. The team had worked together long enough that dispatching their foes was mere child's play. Alfonse, Sharena, and Anna expertly faced against the nameless axe, sword, and lance lackeys respectively while Kiran and Loki exchanged blows with each other. As soon as Loki noticed her debilitated henchmen, the sorceress clicked her tongue disdainfully before disappearing with a snap of her fingers.
Sharena fumed as she ran towards where Loki had been moments ago. “She’s gone… again! We’ll never get close enough to capture her!” Sharena sighed while her posture deflated slightly. “Gone...again… Huh.”
“What is it, Sharena?” Alfonse asked as he walked forward. He spared Kiran a quick glance before returning his full attention to his sister.
“I feel like… Something is familiar about this.” Sharena hooked a finger thoughtfully over her chin. “Is it deja vu, or is it something from a dream?” The young princess paused and glanced towards the ground. “But… what dream would it have been?”
Alfonse didn’t miss the way Kiran flinched at the word “dream” from the corner of his eye. “Are you all right, Sharena? Are you still half-asleep?”
Sharena’s gaze was still downwards when she noticed something on the ground in front of her. “...Oh!” she chirped, kneeling to the ground to scoop something into her hands. Kiran held back a choked gasp as Sharena produced a familiar looking flower crown. “A chain of flowers? Why… Where did I…” Sharena’s hands started to tremble slightly. “Why am I suddenly...so sad? These flowers are breaking my heart, and I… I…” She sniffled slightly. Alfonse turned and watched as Kiran seemed to do the same.
Anna awkwardly cleared her throat. “Sorry to interrupt, but I’ve just received a report you’ll want to hear, Princess Sharena. It seems a childhood friend of yours has just arrived for an unannounced visit… Ah, speaking of, there she is-”
The small group of friends turned in tandem towards where Anna had pointed.
“Ah!” Sharena squeaked as a head of blonde hair similar to hers came into view.
Hot tears streamed down Kiran’s face as Sharena’s friend, who so closely resembled Peony, appeared to the summoner that way, wings, floral attire, and all. Kiran couldn’t be too sure the person in front of her was actually a ljosalfar, but at that point it didn’t matter. Kiran was barely able to choke back their cry as their emotions overtook them and they crumpled to the ground.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When Kiran’s eyes fluttered open, the first thing they noticed was how their eyelashes fluttered against material similar to their cloak. Eyes slowly coming into focus, Kiran then took stock of how their surroundings continued to shift around them even though they felt no ground beneath their feet. When they made to straighten their posture it was then that they felt their chest flush against someone’s back and hands that weren’t theirs wrapped beneath their thighs.
“Oh thank goodness,” Kiran heard Alfonse breathe as the prince continued to give them a piggyback ride. “I was already assuming the worst when you’d crumbled to the ground like that.”
Heat rose onto Kiran’s cheeks as they hid their face from the rest of the world by leaning their forehead against the back of Alfonse’s neck. “Sorry,” they muttered quietly, utterly embarrassed.
“It’s nothing you need to apologize for,” Alfonse reassured as he stepped inside the castle. He paused for just a moment to shift and more comfortably accommodate Kiran’s weight before continuing towards their room. Kiran took a moment to look up and take note of their route; from the looks of it, it appeared Alfonse had the foresight to not go through the main doors of the castle but instead take a side entrance. Kiran felt a wave of gratitude wash over them; they didn’t want to even think about all the looks they would’ve gotten. Their lips quirked into the faintest of smiles as they returned their forehead to rest against the back of Alfonse’s neck.
The pair continued in comfortable silence all the way back to Kiran’s room. As soon as Alfonse had reached their door, Kiran took that moment to shift their legs from Alfonse’s hold and return to a standing position. Alfonse watched as the summoner stared at their door handle but made no move to open it.
“...Are you okay?” Alfonse asked quietly, though he already had an inkling to what Kiran’s answer was.
When the summoner slowly turned to face him, the young prince felt a sharp pain in his chest. Their eyes, which he hardly ever saw appear from beneath their hood, were visibly rimmed with unshed tears while their nose was scrunched and their lower lip quivered.
Without thinking, Alfonse reached over Kiran, grabbed the door handle, and quietly ushered them inside before just as quietly shutting the door behind them. Kiran desperately covered their face with their hands to choke back any sniffles and sobs. Their tears soaked into their gloves for only a moment until familiar hands grabbed theirs to gently lower them.
“Hey-”
Kiran suddenly removed their hands from Alfonse’s to quickly grab the edge of their hood and pull it further over their face again. Despite the attempt to hide their tears, their body still shuddered as their cries became harder and harder to hold back.
Alfonse waited a moment before trying to act again. The last thing he wanted to do was make Kiran uncomfortable. He just couldn’t stand to see them this way. Chest briefly filling with bated breath, Alfonse opted to take a seat on the edge of Kiran’s bed before trying anything.
“Kiran,” Alfonse tried again, his voice only slightly raising in volume. All he received in the form of acknowledgement was the sight of Kiran’s posture straightening ever so slightly. “...What happened?” he asked faintly. All Kiran could do was shake their head in response, their tears now spilling past their hood to drip onto the floor.
“Are you okay?”
Kiran shook their head again.
Alfonse bit back a sigh. He’d never seen Kiran look so despondent. “Is there anything I can do to help you?”
Kiran looked up just enough to lock eyes with the prince in front of them, their eyes peeking from beneath their hood. Then their resolve crumbled. Unable to hold back their grief and anguish any longer, Kiran slowly approached Alfonse with outstretched arms. Alfonse wasted no time in returning the embrace. He brought one hand to rest against the back of Kiran’s hooded head while the other pulled Kiran’s form flush against his. Kiran, in turn, draped their arms over Alfonse’s shoulders and shoved their face against his shoulder. Alfonse felt every tear, gasp, and shudder as Kiran wailed into his shoulder. All Alfonse could do in the way of comfort was reassuringly rub their back as Kiran let out the emotions they’d been bottling up.
“I-I thought you were dead!” Kiran blubbered into his shoulder. “I thought I’d killed you! I th-thought you were gone, and that it was all my fault!”
Alfonse moved the hand that had cupped the back of Kiran’s head to grasp one of their hands. “I’m right here, though,” he reminded gently. He tightened his grip around their hand. “And I’m not going anywhere.”
When Kiran returned his grip with a similar squeeze, Alfonse felt a burst of confidence as he quickly leaned forward and chanced a kiss against Kiran’s hooded brow. The prince felt the summoner in his arms stiffen and immediately worried that he’d gone too far.
“I’m sorry, was that too-”
“No!” Kiran immediately interjected. Both parties erupted into equal amounts of blush as the silence that surrounded the room began to envelope them. Thankfully, the silence they shared wasn’t tense or anxious. The two simply relaxed and reveled in the other’s company as they continued to embrace the other.
Alfonse had no idea how long they remained in each other’s arms. But when he felt Kiran’s breath steadily even out and then deepen, he didn’t try to hide his smile. Moving as smoothly as possible so that he wouldn’t wake his summoner, Alfonse quickly scooped Kiran into a bridal carry before just as quickly laying them down on their bed. Alfonse made sure to gently remove Kiran’s boots from their person before carefully covering them with their sheets.
He took in the sight for just a moment. He’d never seen so many sides of Kiran. The Kiran he was familiar with was the calm, calculated tactician that held together the Order of Heroes. Alfonse couldn’t think of a time he’d seen Kiran scared, upset, or vulnerable. Though he’d never wish the feelings Kiran had shared upon anyone, it was relieving for Alfonse to see. It made Kiran more… human.
“What am I even thinking? Of course they’re human,” Alfonse whispered to himself, turning to leave Kiran. A hand wrapped around his stopped him in his tracks. Alfonse looked back and saw a barely awake Kiran holding onto their hand like it was the only thing they knew to do.
“Please don’t leave,” Kiran whispered, a shudder passing through their spine.
Alfonse complied and lowered to a kneel beside them. He made sure to move in a way that allowed their hands to stay connected. “Alright. But just until you fall asleep.”
“‘Kay,” they responded sleepily before closing their eyes again.
Alfonse waited for the grip around his hand to loosen sufficiently before painstakingly removing his hand to return it to his side. Something told him that this wouldn’t be the last time he’d do this for Kiran. Alfonse smiled as he took in Kiran’s peaceful slumbering form one last time. It wasn’t as though he minded.

Chapter Two
content warning: alcohol, binge drinking
That was how Evan ended up standing in front of a huge house in a part of the city that he had never visited before with an unopened bottle of vodka in his hand. It was getting dark out – midwinter was coming fast, turning the air frosty and driving everyone indoors. At least it would be warm inside the house.
Evan took a deep breath, forcing himself to relax. A puff of vapour clouded the air before him.
This was fine. It was fine. It was a party. He was supposed to be here – he had been invited. There was no need to be anxious. It wasn't going to be like it was back then.
He could hear loud music pumping from inside the house, and spilling from between the curtains of the house was dim purple light.
God, who was he kidding. He couldn't do this.
As Evan turned around to leave, someone opened the door from the inside.
"Oh, shit, there's someone here. Sorry, were you waiting to be let in?"
Evan looked up at the tall student who just stumbled outside. "Um. Yeah. My friend is inside. She–"
"Go ahead," the student said, holding the door open and gesturing to go inside. Evan nodded in thanks, before stumbling into the house.
Immediately, he was surrounded by people. The house was crammed wall to wall with students in various stages of inebriation, all chattering away at the top of their lungs as the hypnotic electro music filled the space between them. Evan found a pile of coats in the hallway and dropped his on top. He hoped it wouldn't get lost or stolen before he left.
"Excuse me," he said, edging his way past a group of girls in short dresses who gave him judgemental looks. "Sorry. Sorry, sorry–"
He couldn't find Aliya anywhere. She wasn't in the living room or the kitchen. Evan poked his head behind every door, but all he kept finding were more guests crammed into unlikely places like sardines in a tin can. He recognised one or two from around campus, but some of these people seemed slightly too old to be students. Was this really a university party? Did these people all know each other?
Evan saw someone who looked like they were slightly in charge, maybe, and tapped them on the shoulder. They turned around with an unfocused look, hair in messy tumble around their head.
"What's up? Didn't Fae get you it? Oh, shit, where did you get the vodka?"
Evan blinked. This person sure was saying words at him. "What?"
The person squinted at him. "Didn't you just ask me for a kitchen towel?"
"No, I just got here," Evan said. "But thanks. Um. I'm looking for Aliya, do you know where she is?"
That got him a blank look. "Who?"
"Aliya! Aliya, you know, she does Astro with me. Uh." The blank look still persisted on the person's face. "She came here with volleyball? No, wait, I mean, netball? I think?"
The person looked vaguely less blank. "Oh, wait, the netball bitches. I love those girls, they make me feel like I'm some kind of insect. My name's Rock by the way."
"Oh," said Evan, who didn't know why that was relevant. "That's a cool name. Like Dwayne Jo–"
"Not like Dwayne fucking Johnson," Rock replied with a scowl. "I hate that guy."
"Oh. Sorry."
Rock just nodded, before tapping a person on the shoulder seemingly at random. "Is Becca around?"
"In the garden," the girl replied, "probably? Unless she left."
They were both yelling at full volume. Evan winced. His ears were already ringing.
Rock led him through sweaty crowds of people to the kitchen, and then out of a door into the garden. It wasn't much of a garden – more like a patch of concrete with a few bricks and weeds lying around, as if for decoration. There were more people out here, mostly smoking. Some of them looked like they were asleep. It was so cold out here – the girls were huddled up under big jackets that they had stolen from other people.
Wait a minute. Evan was pretty sure that was his coat. How did it get stolen so fast?!
"Aliya?" Evan called. Some people looked up, their eyes glazed over.
"Aliya bounced," someone said.
Evan's heart sank. "What?"
"Yeah, she dipped pretty quickly. Said she forgot about a deadline."
God damn it. Evan fought the urge to bang his head off the nearest wall. Why didn't she text him and say so? He could have escaped too!
"Right, thanks. I, uh–"
"Bro, no, you're not leaving yet, are you?" Rock said, giving him a betrayed look. "You just got here!"
Evan shrugged, plastering on a polite smile. "I don't really know anyone here–"
"Yet," Rock said firmly. "You don't know anyone yet. You know what they say about strangers? They're just friends you haven't made yet. Come on, live a little."
Personally, Evan thought Rock was slightly unhinged. He must have looked obviously uncomfortable, because Rock held out a hand and squeezed his shoulder.
"You don't go to a lot of parties, huh? It's cool. You can chill with me. Give it half an hour and see how you feel, yeah?"
Why was this person so eager to see a complete stranger join the party? Evan considered saying no and leaving anyway, but then again...
Evan wasn't a coward. He would give it half an hour and see if he made any friends. And if not, he could always leave.
"Sounds good," he said.
Rock cheered. A bunch of other people in the garden cheered too, though Evan doubted they knew what they were cheering for. "Alright! We got another one! Come on, pal, let's get you a drink!'
Half an hour later and after a couple of drinks, Evan somehow found himself watching Rock pour out a tray full of shots in the kitchen.
Several people wandered over in interest, lured by the idea of free alcohol like they were cats who just heard the tin of tuna being opened. "Who's down?" Rock said.
A few people came forward. Evan watched as a girl slung herself over Rock's shoulders with a bored expression. She had long, long straight black hair, like an oil slick that ran down her back, and she was either exceptionally tall or she was wearing huge platform boots. Maybe both. Evan thought it was both. "I will."
"Evan?" Rock said. "You want one? It's okay if you don't, I know shots are a little much..."
"I can do shots," Evan said without meaning to. Oh, shit. Was he trying to impress the hot goth girl? He kind of was. "Uh, if that's cool."
Rock's smile widened. "If you're sure you can handle it. Are you a lightweight, Evan? Because if so, I'm not going to be the one cleaning up your puke afterwards."
Evan smiled. "Ah, I don't know. Maybe. I'll try to keep it inside."
"Attaboy, big guy! That's what I like to hear!"
Soon, everyone around him had a shot in their hand. Evan had no idea what the liquid was. He tried to sniff it, but then Rock was counting down, and everyone was lifting their shot glasses up and drinking.
People winced and made appropriate noises as the burn hit. Rock blinked away his tears with a grin, before watching Evan drink with interest.
Evan calmly put down the shot. After seeing everyone else's reaction, he quickly pretended to gasp. "Oh, wow, the burn, wow..."
Rock's eyes flickered over the glass. It was empty. "Have you done that before?"
Evan shrugged, waving him away. "Once or twice."
Hot Goth Girl finally seemed to notice him. She stared him down, before slowly smiling at him, her black painted mouth in a closed-lip smirk. It was kind of terrifying.
"Hey Rock," she said, keeping her eyes on Evan. "Who's this?"
"I'm Evan," said Evan, before holding out a sweaty hand. She stared at it, and he immediately dropped it. "Haha, what, I don't know why I did that. Nice to meet you."
"I've seen you around," she said.
It sounded like an accusation. Evan wilted – before perking up. Wait, didn't this mean she remembered him? She had noticed him before! This was good, right? He nodded eagerly. "You recognise me? I'm sorry, I don't think I've seen you around, otherwise I would have remembered – I mean, you're very recognisable, haha, there's not a lot of people around here who dress so, like..."
He trailed off, feeling awkward. Hot Goth Girl glared at him.
"Like what?"
Evan blinked. She was wearing black lipstick and huge eyeliner, like two bat wings painted on her face. Most people around here weren't so brave.
"Um... so, um... alternatively."
Her eyes narrowed. Slowly, she grinned. "Where did you find this guy, Rock?"
"Aliya likes him," Rock laughed, before holding up the bottle. "Let's do round two," they hollered, and the night took a downward turn from there.
Coming to this party was such a bad idea.
When Evan woke up in the morning, he was very confused.
He had a vague memory of someone carrying him home. And holding someone's hand. And...
He groaned with embarrassment and rolled over to bury his head in his pillow to try and suffocate himself. When that didn't work, he rolled onto his back and massaged his forehead.
It felt like something had crawled into his mouth and died. He was so thirsty. But mostly he was mortified.
Ah, that poor person! Evan probably rambled on about weird depressing personal problems! He became one of those maudlin drunks who just starts crying about stuff! The person who carried him here must have been totally sick of his shit.
What an angel. Evan wished he could remember who they were.
He looked around for his phone, his bleary eyes cracking open. Whoever they were, they left a full glass of water on the desk. Evan jumped at it, drinking the whole thing in seconds.
It helped a little bit. But now he felt nauseous.
This sucked. Why did he do this.
Oh, shit, his phone and his wallet. Did he have them? He looked around in a panic. Were they in the jeans he wore? Where the fuck were his jeans?!
Slowly, he looked under his duvet and realised that he was still wearing them. Ah. Oops.
At least the person didn't undress him while he was drunk or unconscious. That would have been uncomfortable. In fact, he seemed in exceptionally good condition, considering he got black out drunk at a strangers house.
Aaaa god why did he do that!!! Why didn’t he slow down and drink some water!! This was so embarrassing, he could have done anything last night!!
... oh jesus fuck, why did his eyes hurt so much? They were so sore! It was like someone shone a supercharged torch in his eyes or made him stare into the god damn sun!! What happened last night?!
In his pocket, he found his wallet and phone, much to his relief. Evan quickly scrolled through his messages to see if he had sent anything weird to anyone.
Huh? Who the fuck were all these people he had added on Facebook? Why had he sent out so many friend requests?! He didn't recognise any of the names here at all!
He also saw a series of messages he sent to Aliya.
> you. are the qorst friend ever
> ┻┻︵ヽ(`Д´)ノ︵┻┻
i'm so sorry!! i'm really sorry!! oh i feel so bad, i thought i text you not to come anymore!! <
> ABANDONED me
> discarded me like an EMPTY CRISP PALKCET
> packet

> everyone is very friendky. They keep handing me shots. These are my new friends now
> you're fired

> Your missing otu on thrjelkc weeb
who's rock?? <
seriously though, be safe evan and have fun. if you need to call anyone, im up all night doing this assignment so just call me okay? x <
Just as he finished reading the texts, his phone buzzed in his hand. He nearly dropped it in shock. There was an unread text in his inbox from an unrecognised number.
How are you feeling? <
This was awkward. Clearly, this was a person Evan gave his number to last night. Unfortunately, he had no clue who they were, and now he felt too awkward to ask, since they clearly assumed he knew who it was.
> haha a little hungover!! oops
Was that too many exclamation marks? This mystery person would think he was a psycho.
The reply came soon.
Make sure you drink plenty of water. And eat something salty. <
Do you want me to bring anything? <
Seriously, who was this and why were they being so nice? Evan still felt a little awkward.
> i will :) and no thank you but that's so kind! how are you feeling?
I'm fine. I'm glad you're alright. <
...
This was too much to deal with. Evan decided not to answer. Hopefully, whoever this was would drop a clue at some point, or just leave him alone.
There weren't many people it could be. He had all his friends (haha, all his friends, as if he had more than three) saved as contacts. So this must be a stranger from the party.
A memory flashed into his head of the messy haired host – what was their name, Tree? Root? Boulder? – saying something stupid about all strangers being friends he hadn't made yet. It was probably them. They seemed overly familiar, so this lined up.
Ah, what the hell. This was a problem for future Evan.
He rolled himself into the shower without vomiting even a little bit, which he considered a huge achievement that should be celebrated with pizza for breakfast.

Hi! I’m not sure if you do Crossovers but this one is a x reader as well
I was wondering if you could write a FFXV & FF7 crossover?? Reno (or Cloud) x F!Reader , where the reader is a princess and oracle like Lunafreya ! Basically the reader is Lunafreya, As she’s great friends with Avalanche and Aerith so they know but ShinRa doesn’t until Noctis and his pals had enter the ff7 universe, ended up in the Turks office as somewhat this random staff knows about the prince and princess and spills it out as nobody knows as Reno is completely shocked that his girlfriend is a princess and magical as well and worried but also jealous (since the boys are very close with the reader especially with Noctis) but also since it’s not safe since sephiroth is back and the Turks duties but reader is a bad bitch mhm.
I’m sorry I didn’t realized how long this was!! Of course, you can shorten; I don’t mind ^^
Hi
I’ve never done crossovers before between two final Fantasy games. I don't really know FFxv very well so I hope you like what I’ve written. I did have to shorten it a little. >.< It has the potential to be come a fully fledged Fan fic!
Oracle
You’d come to Gaia to escape destiny, finding the contrast a welcome change to the planet you had come from. You weren’t expected fulfil an important role in this world and you could choose who you wanted to love, instead of expecting to marry your betrothed. Not that there was anything wrong with Noctis, you just wanted choice. Choice to choose your own path. Not that, that was easy being an Oracle meant you knew destiny sometimes couldn’t be changed.
You woke with a jolt one night, trying to remember the dream that had woken you. The redhead laying beside you shifted in his sleep, pulling you closer. Reno, a Shinra Turk and the person you’d chosen. Not your family, not destiny, you had chosen him. You sigh and then the dream hits you. Noctis was in Gaia. It was like destiny had given you a middle finger. They were to be captured by the Turks.
Morning meant Reno leaving early. A strange group of people had been captured by Elena the night before. You say nothing, knowing who the group is and leave for the slums. You tell Reno that your going to visit Aerith. You wanted to talk things through with her. Reno smiled to himself a little and heads off to the office.
“You clearly took a wrong turn Ignis!” Prompto snaps pulling on his handcuffs.
“No, I didn’t!”
“Then how do you explain how we got on another planet!”
“I Don’t know!”
“Guys… fighting isn’t going to help us!” Noctis shouted.
Gladiolus chuckled to himself watching the two “Oh Noctis, just let them fight it out.”
They looked up as Reno and Rude walked in, more questioning. They gave the same answers. They had no idea how they ended up in Midgar, they were just on a driving trip. It was a routine everyone was getting tired of. Reno had begged Tseng to let him use other techniques but as the four weren’t dangerous even though they didn’t exist on their system. There was no need for violence.
Reno sat down, fingers pressed to his temple. He looked at the four and then back at Rude. All of them were tired and fed up. Reno’s phone rang and he answered.
“Boss? Yes boss Y/N is with Aerith. They wont go far probably just the church. Yeah, yeah I’ll go down after…” Reno hung up and looked at the four. They were staring at him.
“Y/N … as in (Your first name and last name)?” Gladiolus asked.
“Yeah you know her?” Reno asked confused and a little protective.
“Princess Y/N?” Prompto “Hey Noctis your betrothed is here!”
“She’s not my Betrothed any more Prompto, Lunafreya is…” Noctis replied a little long suffering.
Reno’s teeth grit a little, jealousy burning in his chest. He hated it more when Tseng eventually saw no reason to keep them and they were released. Reno lit up a cigarette taking a long drag standing outside the building. The four men approached him. Ignis pushed Prompto forwards.
“Umm… Would it be alright if you took us to see Y/N?”
Reno scowled at him and the others. If you knew them then they couldn’t be that bad. Besides, he couldn’t exactly deny you childhood friends. He sighed reluctantly and gestured for them to follow.
“Have you not told Reno about your powers?” Aerith asked arranging her flower basket
“No, not yet. I’m not ready to,” you reply “So… my Vision.”
“I… I don’t think it could mean you have to leave Reno. Maybe it’s just closure. A chance to say goodbye to your old life?” Aerith stated walking over.
You hum a little and sit down on the floor thinking. Aerith looked up and waved smiling. “Oh… Reno has company…”
“Princess Y/N Is it really you!” Prompto shouted running over.
“Watch the flowers!” Aerith snapped.
“You heard the lady!” Reno snapped pulling Prompto onto the path.
Noctis pushed passed the group. Prompto frowned going to follow but Ignis pulled him back shaking his head. The other man nodded understanding Ignis’s reasoning. You and Noctis needed some time alone.
Reno watched the two of you jealous. But… he couldn’t understand, you were a princess of where? Princess’s didn’t exist on Gaia… did they? He frowned watching Prompto leaning over and trying to photograph Aerith’s flowers. She giggled when he showed her the pictures, complimenting him on his skill.
“We were worried you know?”
“Hu?” Reno asked turning to Gladiolus confused.
“About Y/N, she’s one of the few Oracles we had. When she vanished, well, we thought she was dead. Noctis was particularly distressed. They were always so close. I think that’s why she was made his Betrothed,” Gladious told him.
Betrothed, Reno scowled and grabbed his baton. No way were these four taking you away from him. Wait! “Did you say Oracle?” His eyes widened. You had powers as well! What else did he not know! Gladious nodded. Reno swallowed back the shock as you walked over.
You smile sheepishly up at the man you loved so much, looking back at Noctis. They weren’t there to take you away, Aerith was right. Closure was the key. Reno deserved to know the truth. You take his hands in yours, kissing over the knuckles.
“We need to talk,” you say to him, smiling.
“Yes…”
Prompto, Noctis, Gladious and Ignis watched along with Aerith as you and Reno walked away.
“Did we just brake up a couple?” Prompto asked before taking a photo of the two of them.
“No, I think we made one stronger,” Noctis replied.

12 Days of Spones Day 3: Travel
[Read on AO3]
In a universe where instant travel was always at his fingertips, McCoy knew that sometimes it was the journey that mattered the most. The Enterprise was due for a refit and her crew was granted an extended shore leave. McCoy spent the first day at his family’s ranch in Georgia closing out all his old cases. There were miles of notes to catch up on and by the time he was done the first day of shore leave had turned to night. He padded around the empty house adjusting picture frames and dusting shelves, sipping on an Andorian ale until he was tired enough to fall asleep on the couch.
The next day he spent packing the shuttle car. It was an older model with a low hover height and a top speed of ninety kilometers an hour. The autopilot had been broken for years. He filled the trunk space with his suitcases and datapadds and then went back to the ranch to lock up. When he returned he was surprised to see Spock standing by the shuttle car with a bag over his shoulder.
McCoy blinked. “Spock. Fancy meeting you here.”
Spock had been looking out over the horizon, and he turned as McCoy spoke, his gaze half-lidded and contemplative. “Doctor,” he greeted, and said nothing more.
“What brings you to Georgia?”
“I am not certain.”
McCoy’s interest was piqued. “This is a rare day indeed, if the indomitably brilliant Mr. Spock is admitting he doesn’t know something.”
Spock inclined his head. “I admit I was…curious about the place you call home. I find it is less illogically ordered than I had assumed.”
“It’s a ranch, Spock. They have their own logic.”
“Indeed. It seems to have been quite some time since any animals were raised here. The garden also seems to be in a state of disrepair.”
McCoy followed his gaze to the old garden plot near the house. The only thing that distinguished it was the different kind of grass that had taken root there, and the dilapidated wood fencing that was falling in on itself. “Well, it’ll have to lie fallow a bit longer. I’m not here long enough to fix this place up.”
“You are preparing for a trip?”
“Yeah. One I’ve been wanting to do for a long time.”
“Where will you go?”
“To Alaska.”
Spock blinked. He glanced back at the shuttle car, his brown eyes calculating. “I do not believe this vehicle will last the trip.”
“I spent most of my childhood fixing up this old girl. If I encounter problems I can handle them.”
“The Alcan Highway is notorious for its state of disrepair.”
McCoy shrugged. “Like I said, I’ll handle it. That’s part of the excitement of taking a trip like this, Spock.”
“I see.”
Spock’s gaze was fixed on the shuttle car. McCoy considered him standing there, looking a bit small with just his single bag over his shoulder.
“…What are you doing for shore leave?”
“I had not yet decided.”
“Just wanted to pay your old pal McCoy a visit, hm? Well, get in the damned car.”
Spock tilted his head. “Doctor?”
“You heard me. Get in. For pity’s sake, Spock. You’re like a sad puppy standing there. I can hardly look at you.”
Spock frowned very slightly. “I am not a ‘sad puppy,’ Doctor.”
“Prove it.” McCoy swept his arm towards the car. “Come with me. You can make sure I don’t crash into a tree or get sucked into a pothole. If you get sick of it we can call Starfleet and have them beam you somewhere else.”
Spock hesitated for just a moment, but McCoy knew he had Spock dead to rights. The Vulcan had never been good at taking vacation even at the best of times, and being stuck on Earth probably didn’t sit well with him. After a moment, Spock nodded. He placed his bag in the back seat and climbed into the shuttle car.
It took three tries for McCoy to get the engine to turn over, and he ignored Spock’s look of concern as they lifted unsteadily into the air. The car had always listed to one side. The way McCoy remembered it, it had listed to the left, but the old bird had a prominent limp towards the right today. Either way, he’d handle it.
They took off over the field towards the highway, skimming near the surface of the planet and kicking up dust as they went. McCoy glanced over and saw Spock gripping the handle above the window, and he grinned. A little company was just what he needed.
---
They made good time the first day, and wound up in a little Podunk town near the corner where Tennessee met Missouri. Spock had relaxed after the first hundred kilometers and was now studiously typing in a datapadd. McCoy glanced over at him occasionally, smiling to himself at the sight of Spock with his nose in a book—or some other data—while the world passed by just outside the window. But most McCoy entertained himself by watching the scenery and occasionally flipping through the radio stations. He knew Spock would talk when he was ready.
The shuttle car had fold-down back seats suitable for sleeping on, but McCoy didn’t feel like being that cramped this early in the trip. He booked a room at a motel with a hot tub and spent most of the night making soup of himself and turning wrinkly and pruned while Spock sat nearby, still writing. McCoy flicked a few droplets of water Spock’s way and laughed as Spock scowled like a wet cat. They ate sandwiches in the motel room and McCoy collapsed into bed before nine o’clock.
He awoke once, that first night, just as Spock was turning down the covers of the bed across from him. He watched Spock, dimly lit by the light seeping through the partially curtained window, as he moved about in his Starfleet-issued pajamas. They were black silk, and the pants were just a bit too short for Spock, exposing his ankles and making him look like a lanky teenager who was growing too fast. McCoy snorted to himself and rolled over, falling instantly back to sleep.
The next day they stopped at the St. Louis gateway arch. McCoy wasn’t too impressed, but he perked up when they found an expansive botanical garden. The air was thick and humid, and he made Spock stop to pose for pictures. He captured Spock’s long-suffering frown near a dozen different flowers from all over the world.
They fell into a rhythm. With plenty of time to sight-see, the fact that the shuttle car was less than half as fast as current models didn’t bother McCoy. Spock hardly seemed to notice whether they were stopped or moving; he kept his nose tucked into the datapadd he was working on regardless. They ate at the greasiest spoon dives that McCoy could find for one meal, and then at an upscale restaurant that served single bites on porcelain plates the next. Occasionally, McCoy commented on the scenery during their drive, and Spock always replied dutifully. They picked up an old argument about the logic (or lack thereof) of different systems of classifying living creatures, and then they put the argument down again. Neither was in any hurry to win. McCoy was just arguing because he liked to hear Spock’s voice.
In the evening they would stop wherever was convenient. They stayed at a five-star hotel one night where room service delivered fresh pasta and bread that was still warm to the touch. The next night they spent at a bread and breakfast that woke them precisely at 6:00 a.m. for waffles and strawberries. McCoy growled his annoyance at the early hour and Spock placated him by fetching mug after mug of fresh coffee. They sat at the small table with their elbows touching, listening to their host tell them about all the people that had come through and stayed with her. She’d had folks from Starfleet before, of course, but never anyone from such a prestigious starship.
“Tell me, what’s it like? The only time I’ve ever been off-world was to visit my cousin on Mars for her wedding. I’ve never travelled outside the solar system.”
“At a certain point you forget you're travelling anywhere,” McCoy said. “It’s just you and the crew, and the ship is almost like its own small planet. You forget you’re moving, forget there’s anything else besides those walls and the view.”
He found himself looking at Spock, who was still contemplating their host’s question. After a moment, Spock said, “It is quite mentally stimulating.”
She smiled. “I’ll just bet it is. Is that how you two met?”
“Yeah, we both serve on the Enterprise.”
“It must be hard,” she said, glancing up towards the ceiling as if she could see through it to where the Enterprise orbited above them. “Being away from home.” She smiled. “Well, at least you have each other.”
McCoy didn’t have an answer to that. He busied himself with his waffles, and when Spock’s elbow bumped him he didn’t pull away.
---
They went north far enough to stop at the Crazy Horse Memorial. They stood on the viewing platform side-by-side. McCoy traced Crazy Horse’s bold profile with his eyes, admiring the craftsmanship of his outstretched arm and the braying face of the horse he rode. After, he turned the shuttle car west.
The landscape shifted and changed beneath them. Black hills transitioned suddenly into dry desert. Mountains sprung up occasionally, and then more frequently, and McCoy maneuvered the car slowly around the switchbacks. Spock had put down his datapadd and was gripping tightly to the handle above the window again.
“Sorry,” McCoy muttered.
“It is no matter,” Spock said, but his voice was a bit wavery and he was quite pale.
“If you’re car sick I’ve got a hypo in the back.”
Spock shook his head, but it took only a few more curving switchbacks for him to rise in his seat and turn to reach back for the medkit. His shoulder brushed McCoy’s as he searched, and then he withdrew with hypo in hand. He spun the dial and held it up to McCoy, who nodded at the dosage. Spock injected himself and placed the hypospray in the cup holder, already relaxing in increments.
“Didn’t expect you to be the type to get car sick,” McCoy said, keeping his eyes glued to the road. “I’ve never seen you get space sick, even when we’re being rocked to next Tuesday by some anomaly or another.”
“Normally, we are not close enough to the ground for me to see the horizon,” Spock said. He had leaned back in his seat but hadn’t picked up the datapadd again. “I have gotten sea sick once before while boating on a lake on Andoria. It is not a pleasant experience.”
“Not very logical either?”
“Indeed, no.” Spock’s voice carried a faint hint of exasperation. “It is not logical for my brain to misinterpret my balance.”
“Well, that nausea hypo should help. And not reading for a while. That always used to make me car sick as a kid.”
Spock hummed. “I suppose I shall have to finish my work later.”
“What are you working on anyway? You haven’t looked away from that padd this whole trip.”
Spock was silent. McCoy risked a glance over and found Spock gazing out the window with a faint hint of wistfulness.
“You don’t have to answer,” McCoy said, turning back to the road. “If it’s private.”
“It is not. Not…precisely.” Spock considered for a moment longer. “I would like to tell you. However, I would prefer to wait for our arrival in Fairbanks. Is this acceptable?”
McCoy laughed. “Sure, Spock. Whatever makes you happy.”
“Happiness plays no part—”
“I know, I know.” He reached out blindly and managed to pat Spock’s arm. “I was just teasing you.”
“Very well,” Spock said, sounding miffed.
McCoy managed not to laugh at him too loudly, and drove on.
---
They stopped at the Pacific ocean, because when you drive that far West you might as well go further. McCoy found a sandy beach and hopped out of the car, leaving his boots on the ground. After a moment’s hesitation Spock copied him, slipping off his boots and leaving them propped up straight near McCoy’s haphazard pile. They walked barefoot down the sandy path and stood at the edge of the wave line waiting for the cold water to come to them. When it did, it came faster and further than McCoy had expected, and they had to run to avoid getting drenched, McCoy cackling and Spock with wide, bright eyes. McCoy’s jeans still wound up soaked up to the hip, and Spock’s was wet up to the knee.
Together, they walked along the beach picking up shells. There was a spawning of jellyfish in the sand and Spock regaled him with every known fact about the species as they tiptoed around them and watched the waves roll up and carry their gelatinous bodies away again. When they were done McCoy had a pocket full of smooth shells and there was sand on every inch of his body.
They found a cottage along the coast where they could stay the night and shower off. When McCoy emerged from the shower with a towel around his hips, feeling clean and warm, he found Spock arranging their shells. Spock looked up at him and his gaze was unexpectedly heavy, warming McCoy even further until he felt hot and flushed.
“Shower’s yours,” he said gruffly, moving to pull his pajamas from his suitcase.
Spock rose silently and made his way into the bathroom. When the door closed McCoy ambled over to look at the shells. They were arranged by type, or so it appeared, lined up in neat little rows. But one stood out from the rest. It was shaped differently, very particularly, and McCoy had to scold himself for thinking it was shaped like a heart.
They followed the coastline North to Dawson Creek. They spent a few days there taking short day trips to various locations to hike and admire the scenery. It was strange to be able to hike without worrying about catching an alien disease or falling prey to some alien animal. It had been years since McCoy had been able to hike outside of the context of an away mission. Spock seemed to find it harder to break the habit, and he brought a tricorder on each trip to scan the plants and wildlife, and to map the ground on water where they went.
“You don’t have to do that, you know,” McCoy said mildly. He was sitting on a boulder at the edge of a river, watching with amusement as Spock knelt to scan a small cluster of flowers. “I’m fairly certain we’ve discovered every animal on Earth by now.”
Spock paused to consider his words. “One never knows what is left to discover.”
McCoy chuckled. He slid off the boulder and ambled over to Spock, eying the flowers Spock was still scanning. “You really don’t know how to relax, do you?”
“This is relaxing.”
“No, this is work during vacation.” He knelt beside Spock and placed his hand on top of the tricorder, slowly closing it. “You don’t have to scan everything you see, Spock. Sometimes it’s okay to just look and experience it. If you want to look closer…” He reached down and plucked one of the flowers. It was yellow, with a brown seed head and firm, smooth stem. “You can simply pick it up and touch it.”
He held out the flower to Spock. Spock was watching him intently, eyes trained on McCoy’s hands as though he were carrying a fragile bird, or the cure to some disease, and not just a flower. After a moment his gaze flickered upwards and their eyes met, and McCoy was struck by the enormity of the emotion on display in Spock’s eyes. There was turmoil there, a kind of sadness that fluttered under the surface. But, more boldly, there was warmth, and happiness. Spock looked at him like he held the universe in his hands.
Spock accepted the flower. “Thank you, Doctor.
“Of course.” McCoy’s voice was thick.
Had he imagined that look? No, not possible. Not when there were still hints of it in Spock’s sly glances, in the way he cradled the flower like it was the greatest gift he had ever received.
McCoy’s skin itched. “Well,” he said, standing. “That’s enough rest. We should get back to our hike.”
Spock nodded and rose as well. They went into the woods together, and Spock kept the tricorder closed.
---
It became harder to find places to sleep at night. The first day on the Alcan Highway they drove until well after dark to find a town with an open room. The town was hardly more than a few buildings scattered about, and McCoy slept the sleep of the dead, exhausted from such a long drive.
On their second night they couldn’t find a town to rest at no matter how far they drove. McCoy pulled over to the side of the road and flicked on the overhead light, consulting his map. Spock leaned over to look as well, and they came to the same decision together.
“It’s too far,” McCoy said, folding the map and tucking it away. “At least another two hours.”
“It will be well after midnight before we arrive.”
McCoy looked at him. “The back seats fold down,” he suggested mildly. “It’d be cramped, but I don’t think I’m fit to drive much longer.”
Spock inclined his head in silent agreement.
They cleared out the back seat. It was fall; the night air was crisp and a bit cold. Spock folded down the seats while McCoy pulled out his blanket and pillow, seeing now the real problem with this plan.
“I only brought one of each,” he said. “Unless you’ve got one tucked away in your satchel, we’ll have to share.”
“I do not.”
McCoy nodded. “Here, you can have the pillow. The blanket’s pretty big. If I steal it in the night, just…elbow me or something.”
Spock seemed amused, but it was difficult to tell with only stars providing light.
They each turned around while the other slipped into pajamas, giving what privacy they could. With the seats down the space was just big enough for them to line down side-by-side. If McCoy stretched out fully his toes brushed the wall of the trunk. He folded his arm under his head and tried to get comfortable. Spock shuffled around getting comfortable. McCoy could feel the heat radiating off Spock’s body, nice and warm in the cold night. Half-consciously, he shifted a little closer.
“…Doctor,” Spock whispered after a moment.
“Hmm?”
“As you are the primary driver, perhaps you would like the pillow.”
His voice was so low and soothing, McCoy thought. He closed his eyes to better bask in the sound. “No, it’s alright. Wouldn’t want you to get a headache from sleeping wrong. I’ve seen how you act when your head hurts.”
“And I have seen you with a headache.”
He chuckled. “I suppose you’ve got me there.”
There was another pause, a bit longer this time. Just when McCoy thought Spock had dropped the issue, the Vulcan began to shift around again. There was the rustle of fabric against fabric and suddenly Spock’s warmth was a great deal closer. McCoy’s eyes flew open. Now adjusted to the light, he could see Spock’s outline in the starlight. He watched as Spock inched the pillow closer, so that his head was barely on one side, the other side an offering to McCoy.
McCoy gulped. “…You sure?”
“Quite.”
He inched closer. “I snore sometimes, you know.”
Spock sighed, long-suffering. “I am aware. We have shared a room every night for the previous two-and-a-half weeks.”
“It’s just—”
His argument was cut short as Spock’s hand settled on his hip. McCoy snapped his mouth shut, utterly floored by that light touch. Spock wasn’t pulling at him, or really doing much of anything, but the point of contact sparked fire beneath McCoy’s skin. He swallowed thickly and let his body do what it wanted, which was to fall against Spock.
They curled together beneath the blanket, their heads bent towards each other like curved question marks. McCoy didn’t know where to put his hands so he let them fold between their bodies, trying to maintain a faint and pointless distance. Spock’s arm twined around him, his hand resting more firmly against McCoy’s lower back, and his other arm slipped easily under McCoy’s head.
They were cuddling, definitely. It should have felt awkward, but it just felt right. Spock was warm and soft and it was easy for McCoy to bury his face against Spock’s neck and let out a sigh that made Spock shiver. He could smell Spock’s odd Vulcan cologne, a slightly spicy scent. Spock’s hand began to rub against his back soothingly, almost a pet, and McCoy concentrated on that small touch.
Spock soothed him to sleep, and McCoy could think of no better dream than this reality.
---
There were hundreds of bridges along the highway, and they stopped at most of them. Some were small enough to jump over, while others bridged huge gullies that made McCoy experience vertigo. They looked at water, more water than was on the entire surface of Vulcan, mapping all its different forms. At night, even if there was a hotel available, they pulled into whatever parking lot was around instead and folded down the back seat, and McCoy crawled into Spock’s waiting embrace.
They stopped at Delta Junction towards the end of the last day and just stood there, soaking in the beauty of this small, blue planet. Before them were kilometers of rewilded forest. Behind them, mountains jutted up over the horizon. McCoy lifted his head to the sun and felt warm despite the cold breeze.
“Nearly there,” he murmured.
“Yes.”
Spock came to stand beside him. Spock was often standing beside him, McCoy realized. He smiled at Spock, and Spock returned the look with a faint bend at the corner of his lips.
“Haven’t seen you writing in your datapadd in a while,” McCoy said quietly.
“I finished what I intended to write,” Spock said. “At a certain point further edits cease their usefulness.”
“Makes sense.” He turned back to the forest and spread his arms wide. It felt silly, but also perfectly right, to embrace the world in a tiny, human hug. “Oh, Spock,” he breathed. “Have you ever seen anything like it?”
“I have not. I believe the word you would use to describe it is ‘majestic.’”
“Too small a word.” McCoy turned and found Spock watching him, and he smiled. “Should we continue on? Fairbanks is just a couple hours away.”
Spock turned somber. “Indeed.”
The last few hours were quieter than the ones that had come before. Spock was in the passenger’s seat with his eyes closed, apparently meditating, and the datapadd on his lap but turned off. Every kilometer they passed something new and beautiful and McCoy felt his breath stolen from him again and again.
It was dark by the time they arrived in Fairbanks, and McCoy startled when Spock’s hand came to rest against his wrist.
“Stop here.”
McCoy pulled over and Spock climbed out of the shuttle car. McCoy followed him down a brick path to a small lookout over the river. Above them, the sky was bright and clear, inky black broken only by the white pinpricks of stars. Spock tipped his head toward the sky.
“This will do,” he declared, turning back to McCoy.
McCoy shifted his feet. “Do for what?”
In answer, Spock handed him the datapadd. Cautiously, McCoy accepted it, uncertain what he would find. He switched it on and read the first paragraph, then had to stop and go back to read it again, unable to process what he was seeing.
There were several pages and he flipped through them slowly, stunned by the prose Spock had spilled onto the page. Perhaps he shouldn’t have been so surprised; Spock had always had a way with words, after all. But this was almost…poetic. There was a depth McCoy knew Spock was capable of feeling, but hadn’t known Spock was capable of expressing.
“Spock, this is…”
“When I first arrived in Georgia,” Spock said, turning back to the sky. “I already planned to tell you, but I could not find the words.”
“Spock…”
“When I look at you, Leonard,” Spock said, visibly struggling to voice what he had already written on the page. “I feel…love.”
“Oh, Spock.”
“I look at you and see the future. One where I might be with you, and have you be with me. I would like, very much, to become the person you could find yourself loving.”
“Goddammit.” McCoy swiped at his eyes. “You’re such an idiot.”
Spock looked miffed. “If my confession offends you—”
“No! Just—dammit, c’mere you.” He reached out and took Spock’s hand. “I already love you, you foolish, beautiful Vulcan.”
Spock seemed surprised, and then inordinately pleased. “Indeed?”
“I figured it was pretty obvious, what with the cuddling. But maybe I need to say it in a way you can’t misconstrue. I just spent over three weeks in a car with you and didn’t want to pull my hair out or bite your head off. We’ve battled great evil together. We fight and I…like it, okay? I like you, and I want to be with you in all the mushy romantic ways you wrote here.” He held up the padd. “Honestly, Spock, it’s like you were reading my damned mind about some of this stuff. You weren’t, were you?”
Spock shook his head. He seemed incapable of speech.
McCoy grinned. “Guess it’s just proof we’re good together.” He tightened his grip and tugged Spock closer. “Why wait until Fairbanks to say it?”
“I…was not brave.”
“Not very logical of you.”
“This feeling is not logical,” Spock said seriously. “And it is the only feeling I have ever had which I choose to embrace fully.”
McCoy’s breath caught. “Oh. It’s like that, is it?”
“It is.”
They were standing awfully close now, almost as close as Spock had held him last night, when their legs had tangled together and Spock had run his hand through McCoy’s hair.
“Leonard.”
“Yeah?” he breathed.
“May I kiss you?”
“Hell. Absolutely. Thought you’d never—”
Spock stole the rest of his sentence, and his breath, and McCoy’s knees went weak and he dropped the padd. He fell against Spock and Spock caught him, warm and firm and strong. They had traveled together across the galaxy, and then over a quarter of Earth, but suddenly the entire Universe had narrowed down to two small points of light. As they met beneath the sky all that mattered was each other.
He felt Spock’s hand come up to cup the side of his face, and he tilted to deepen the connection. Spock was sweet and soft, and McCoy felt like he was flying.
When they pulled apart McCoy was dazed, and he didn’t know how much time had passed. Spock traced the bone of his cheek with one calloused thumb, a faint smile on his lips that McCoy yearned to taste.
“Shall we retire for the evening, Leonard?” Spock said softly.
“R-right, absolutely.” He took a step away and then turned back, picking up the dropped datapadd. “Let’s get a real room, though. Cuddling in the backseat of a car is fine, but we aren’t teenagers.”
Spock’s eyes were bright with mirth. “I agree. I would very much like to hold you again tonight.”
“Dammit, Spock,” McCoy whispered. “You can’t just say things like that. Don’t you know what you’re doing to me?”
“I have some idea.” Spock sidled close as they walked back to the shuttle car together. “For it is the same thing which you do to me.”
McCoy bumped Spock’s shoulder, feeling giddy. It was almost physically painful to separate the few inches necessary to climb back into the shuttle car, but once there Spock reached out and took McCoy’s hand. McCoy held him back tightly, unwilling and unable to hide his expansive grin.
After going all that distance it was less than a kilometer to the final hotel, and only a single flight of stairs to the room. Spock pulled him inside and into a kiss, shutting the door firmly behind them. It may have been the journey that had gotten them here, but McCoy found he quite liked the destination as well.

We Float Among The Wreckage
Pairing: Mikey Way x Reader
Genre: Drama, Romance
Summary: Written for Gothtober 2020, Day 10.  Prompt: “Sirena”.
Mikey makes big plans to take his girlfriend on a cruise vacation...but, she breaks up with him, the day before the ship is supposed to set sail. Heartbroken, he asks you, if you would like to accompany him, instead.
You woke up, feeling excited. Today was the day, that your best friend, would finally return from a months-long tour with his band. You’d missed Mikey so much. You couldn’t wait to see him again.
You dressed quickly, humming one of their songs to yourself, as you wondered, if you should call him, and ask what time he wanted to meet up. You’d bought so many comic books while he was away, that you wanted to loan him, to read. You were looking forward to hearing stories about his travels, too.
You had just finished brewing a pot of coffee, when you heard a knock at the door. You answered - and found just the face, that you were hoping for.
“Mikey!” you grinned, pulling your friend into a hug immediately. “Welcome back!”
“Hey, Y/N,” Mikey smiled weakly. “It’s great to be back in New Jersey. How have you been?”
“I’ve been great!” you replied brightly, releasing him. The excitement in your eyes began to fade, when you realized that Mikey was frowning at you.
“What’s wrong?” you asked, realizing something was up. “You look really sad…”
“I stopped by my girlfriend’s house, before I came here,” Mikey explained.
“Oh, yeah?” you replied, raising an eyebrow. “How’s she doing? I bet she was even more excited to see you again, than I was.”
“...Not really,” Mikey sighed deeply.
“Huh?” you blinked.
“I don’t want to have this conversation in your doorway,” Mikey said sullenly. “Can I come in?”
“Oh, yeah, of course,” you nodded. “You want a cup of coffee?”
“Oh, yes, please,” Mikey said gratefully. He sat down at your kitchen table, and you poured him a steaming mug.
“You like it with two sugars, right?” you asked, handing him the packets.
“Yeah! Good memory,” Mikey nodded.
Of course I remember what he likes, you thought to yourself. He’s one of the most special people in the world to me.
You sat down, across from him, and watched him pour the sugar into the mug, and stir the coffee around with his spoon. Satisfied, he took a sip.
“So,” you asked softly, “are you going to tell me what happened?”
“I went over there, thinking she’d be happy to see me, after three months, right?” Mikey groaned. “Instead...she told me, that she thinks we should see other people.”
“She broke up with you?!” you gasped.
“Yeah,” Mikey said, burying his head in his hands. “I…I can’t believe it.”
“Mikey, I’m so sorry,” you said sympathetically.
“I’m like, in shock,” he confessed. “She said that I’m never home, because of the band, and that she doesn’t want to be in a long-distance relationship.”
“I’m really shocked, too,” you admitted. Sure, it hurt a little, having Mikey gone so often. But, that just made the days when he was home, even more special.
“The worst part,” Mikey revealed, “is that I had just bought tickets, for a cruise, to surprise her.”
“Really?” you gaped.
“Yeah,” Mikey said sadly. “I was going to make it up to her, for my long absence, by taking her on a four-night cruise to Bermuda. It’s a really cool ship, called the SS Sirena. They’re supposed to set sail, from New York Harbor, tomorrow afternoon.”
“Oh, no,” you grimaced. “Is it too late, to get your money back?”
“Yeah, I already called the cruise line,” Mikey confirmed. “They said that the tickets are non-refundable.”
“Fuck,” you swore. “What are you going to do with them, then? There’s not enough time, to try and sell them.”
“Exactly,” Mikey nodded, seemingly at a loss. “I mean, I guess I could take the one ticket, and go to Bermuda by myself. But that sounds….really depressing.”
He was right - no matter how sunny the beach might be, traveling alone, would probably suck.
“Well,” you offered, “what if I went with you?”
“Are you serious?” Mikey asked, eyes widening.
“Yeah,” you nodded. “I mean, Bermuda sounds really nice, this time of year. We could just have fun, hanging out as friends. Hopefully, it will take your mind off her.”
“That actually sounds really nice,” Mikey agreed. “Will your boss let you take off, though, on such short notice?”
“Yeah, I have a bunch of unused vacation days, so it should be fine,” you assured him. “I’ll start packing tonight.”
“Thank you, Y/N,” Mikey smiled softly. “I was really bummed out when I got here. But, the idea of taking a trip with my best pal, makes me feel a bit better.”
“No, thank you!” you chuckled. “I’m really looking forward to it!”
You only hoped, that the vacation, would be able to help him get over his heartbreak.
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
He picked you up the next day, and quietly helped you load your luggage, into the trunk of his car. You could tell, by the absence of his usual chatter, that he was still feeling down.
“What time does the Sirena leave port?” you asked, trying to distract him, from his thoughts of her.
“Three o’clock,” Mikey replied listlessly, getting in, and buckling his seat belt. “But, they start boarding people, at one.”
“Ok, it’s noon now,” you calculated, checking your watch, as you climbed into the passenger seat. “It only takes about half an hour, to get from here, to the Port of New York. But, there might be some traffic, when we go through the Turnpike. So, it’s probably smart, to go ahead and leave now.”
“....Yeah,” Mikey said. His eyes, seemed a thousand miles away.
“Mikey,” you said seriously, putting a hand on his shoulder, “listen...are you sure you want to do this?”
“What do you mean?” Mikey asked, looking over at you.
“I know I invited myself along,” you frowned, “but, if you’re really not feeling up to this, and you want to just stay home, I get it. It’s not too late to call the whole trip off.”
“No, I don’t want to do that,” Mikey insisted. “If I go home now, I’ll just sit around my house, and cry about her. Besides, it’d be a waste of nine hundred dollars.”
“That’s how much you spent on her?” you gaped. “And she just ditched you, like yesterday’s trash…”
“Her loss,” Mikey said defiantly. “Screw her….let’s go have a good time.”
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
You arrived at the port, with time to spare, and completed the check-in process, without any issues. Now, you were officially on the ship.
You looked down at the card in your hand, that the cruise liner staff had given you.
“That’s your room key,” Mikey explained, “and also, like, a credit card, that you can use to pay for food and drinks.”
“Oh, okay,” you nodded. You had never been on a cruise before, so this was all new to you.
“We’re gonna be on the lower decks,” Mikey added, directing you towards the elevator. You followed him quickly.
The elevator took you one floor down, and Mikey led you to a door, at the end of the hall.
“This should be it,” he decided, using his card, to unlock the door.
You entered the room, apprehensively. It wasn’t much different, you found, from a hotel room on land. But, you noticed one glaring problem, immediately.
“Mikey,” you pointed out, reddening, “there’s only one bed.”
“....Oh,” Mikey blushed. “Fuck, Y/N, I didn’t even think about it.”
He originally booked this room, for him, and his girlfriend, you realized. So, of course he planned on them sleeping in the same bed.
Bringing you instead, had been a last minute decision. So, even if it had occurred to him, he probably wouldn’t have been able, to swap the one-bed cabin, for a two-bed one.
He’s already having a really rough time, you considered, so I’m not going to pitch a fit about it.
“There’s no couch, or anything,” Mikey noticed, looking around the room.
“It’s fine,” you decided. “You paid for this whole trip, so, you take the bed. I’ll sleep on the floor.”
“What?” Mikey protested. “No way - my grandma raised me to be a gentleman. If I told her I made a girl sleep on the floor for four days, she’d never forgive me! You can have the bed.”
“I don’t want to make you sleep on a cold, hard floor for four days, either,” you argued.
“Well, what other choice do we have?” Mikey shrugged.
“Look,” you sighed, “how about we just decide this later? I’m hungry. I think we should go have lunch.”
“Alright, fine,” Mikey acquiesced. “I heard that the ship restaurant is actually pretty good. Let’s go.”
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
As soon as the hostess seated you at your table, Mikey started looking over the drinks menu.
“It’s a little early for that, isn’t it?” you frowned.
“It’s five o’clock somewhere,” Mikey shrugged. “We’re going somewhere tropical, so why not order one of those fruity little tiki drinks, with the paper umbrella and stuff?”
“Yeah, why not, I guess,” you agreed. You had a feeling, that he was still depressed about his ex. But, who were you, to tell him he wasn’t allowed to drown his sorrows?
“What can I get for you guys?” asked a smiling server.
“Two Bahama Mamas, please,” Mikey said quickly.
“....And we’ll try the coconut shrimp, too,” you added. You didn’t want him drinking on an empty stomach.
“No problem,” the waitress smiled. “Coming right up! By the way, Karaoke Hour starts at four o’clock!”
“Good to know,” Mikey said absently.
After the woman walked away, you turned to him.
“Would you want to try the karaoke thing?” you asked. “It sounds like it could be kind of fun.”
“I don’t know,” Mikey hesitated. “I’ve been playing music every day, for the last few months in a row.”
“Yeah, you’ve been playing bass,” you reminded him. “Not singing.”
“Bass is what I’m, like, actually good at,” Mikey said nervously. “All the singing talent in the family went to Gerard.”
“Nobody’s expecting you to be perfect at it,” you pointed out. “It’s just for fun. But, if it would make you feel better, I could do it with you.”
“Like, a duet?” Mikey asked, seemingly comforted by the idea.
“Yeah!”, you grinned. “I think it would be fun!”
“I need a couple more drinks in me, before I get up on that stage, even if you’re gonna go with me,” Mikey insisted, reddening.
“Alright,” you laughed. “Let’s make this night interesting.”
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
After the Bahama Mama, Mikey downed a pina colada, and a Blue Hawaiian. He became more chatty, and less sad-looking, as the empty cups piled up beside him.
“Alright, what song do you wanna do, Y/N?” Mikey grinned, flipping through the karaoke booklet, that the waitress had given to him. “We need somethin’, with a guy part, and a girl part…”
“What about ‘Interlude’?”, you suggested.
“You mean, the song that Morissey did with Siouxsie Sioux, back in ‘94?” Mikey guessed.
“Yeah! That one!”
You knew that Morissey was one of Mikey’s all-time favorite musicians, so, you were hoping, that singing one of his songs, would cheer him up.
“Yeah, let’s do it!” Mikey agreed. He swayed slightly, as he stood up, to walk over, to the karaoke stage. You took his hand, to keep him from stumbling.
“Hey, are you sure you’re okay?” you asked, biting your lip.
“I’m awesome,” Mikey slurred, swinging his hand in yours. “C’mon….please sing with me, Y/N?”
You found that you couldn’t resist, his puppy dog eyes.
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
You stood on the stage, clutching your mic nervously. There were a few curious people, milling about, watching you. It wasn’t a huge crowd - then again, the trip had just started.
“You ready?” you asked, looking over at Mikey.
“Born ready,” he said, with liquid confidence. “Let’s go.”
The staff member, who was running the event, queued up the music for you. You began to sing Siouxsie’s part:
Time is like a dream
And now for a time you are mine
Let's hold fast to the dream
That tastes and sparkles like wine
Mikey stepped closer to you, as his voice joined yours, singing Morisssey’s verse:
Who knows if it's real
Or just something we're both dreaming of
What seems like an interlude now
Could be the beginning of love….
Something about the way he looked at you, when he sang the last line, made your heart race. You wondered what the hell you were thinking. He had, after all, just gotten out of a two year relationship yesterday.
You told yourself to focus on the song. Your voice harmonized with Mikey’s, as the chorus kicked in:
Loving you is a world that's strange
So much more than my heart can hold
Loving you makes the whole world change
Loving you I could not grow old
You chanced a look at Mikey again. You realized, with a start, that something in his expression, seemed off. Was he….crying?
“N-no,” Mikey stammered, choking up, as he sang the next line, “Nobody knows, when love will end….”
He stopped suddenly. The background instrumentals went on without him, as he failed to sing the next lyric.
“....Shit,” Mikey swore loudly. The onlookers all stared at up at him, confused. “Shit, I’m sorry….I can’t do this….”
He dropped the mic, and suddenly ran off the stage.
“Whoa, Mikey!” you gasped. “Where are you going?!”
You motioned for the staff member, to kill the audio track.
“....Uh, sorry, everybody,” you said awkwardly, into the microphone. “I think this performance is over….”
Without further adieu, you took off running, after your friend.
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
You found him in the cabin, sitting on the bed, sobbing.
“Mikey, what happened back there?” you demanded.
“I didn’t know that my love was gonna end, so suddenly,” Mikey said, sniffling.
“Oh,” you realized, feeling guilty. “The song just made you start thinking about her again, didn’t it?”
“I...I don’t wanna think about her,” Mikey slurred. “But, I can’t stop, Y/N. It hurts.”
“Hey,” you said gently, sitting down on the bed beside him. “It’s gonna be okay.”
“No, it’s not,” Mikey sobbed. He dove into your arms, and pressed his face, into your shoulder. His frames poked against your collarbone.
“Sssh,” you soothed him, stroking his hair. “Mikey, c’mon, you’re gonna bend your glasses up.”
He picked his head up, for a moment. You gently pulled the glasses off his face, and set them on the bedside table.
“Now, you can put your head back down, if you want,” you told him softly.
“O-Okay,” he stammered, and lay his head against you again. With the barrier of the glasses removed, you could feel his tears, wet against your collar.
“....Why doesn’t she love me anymore, Y/N?” Mikey asked, his voice muffled, by your shirt.
“I don’t know,” you confessed, stroking the back of his head again. “I think you’re a really lovable person.”
“You’re just saying that to make me feel better,” Mikey wept.
“I’m not,” you insisted.
“How am I lovable to you?!” Mikey demanded, picking his head up. “I made you babysit me all night….I got drunk, and emotional, and I ruined your karaoke song. Everybody was staring at us, when I just took off like that. I know they were…”
“I don’t care what they think,” you shook your head. “I care much more about you, Mikey. I just want you to be okay. I thought taking this cruise would make you feel better. But, it doesn’t seem, to be helping you at all.”
“Nothing’s gonna help me,” Mikey said dejectedly, flopping backwards onto the pillows. “I’m hopeless, now. Nobody is ever gonna love me, ever again.”
“That’s not true!”, you told him. “I know you loved your ex, but she’s not the only girl in the world!”
“There’s no girl on Earth,” Mikey said, staring up at the ceiling miserably, “who would want to date a guy, who is on the road, all the time. How do you love somebody, that you never even see?”
“I love you, Mikey,” you said emotionally. ”I’ll take whatever time I can get with you. Even if it’s short, it’s special to me.”
“You love me, as a friend,” Mikey spat. “That’s not the same.”
“No,” you shook your head. “Mikey...I’m being serious. I love you, in the same way, that you loved her. I have, for a long time.”
“....What?” Mikey gasped, picking his head up, and staring at you in open shock. “Y/N, what are you saying?!”
“You were with her,” you confessed, surprised to find yourself, speaking these feelings aloud. “You were taken, so I kept my feelings quiet. But….the truth is, I always wanted you for myself. I don’t care, that you tour a lot. Four days with you, is better to me, than four months, with anyone else!”
“You...really mean that?” Mikey asked, eyes wide.
“....From the bottom of my heart,” you vowed.
Suddenly, Mikey grabbed your hand, pulling you forward, on top of him.
“Wh-What are you doing?” you breathed.
He cupped your cheek with his hand.
“Kiss me,” he breathed.
“I shouldn’t,” you hesitated. “You’re drunk, and you’re emotionally vulnerable, and…”
“And I want you,” Mikey insisted. “Y/N, I should have chosen you from the beginning. I’m sorry, that I never realized how you felt about me. You’re more loyal to me, than she ever was.”
He raised his lips, to meet yours. He tasted like rum and coconut, and maybe it was wrong, but you kissed him back, savoring his sweetness.
He wrapped his arms around you, pulling you tighter against him, and kissed you again, with greater ferocity. Your hands roamed each other as the kiss deepened. How far was this going to go?
“....There’s nowhere else, for you to sleep tonight,” Mikey panted, “so, please, please, Y/N, stay with me all night.”
You pressed him down harder, into the bed, that you no longer had any problem sharing.
“There’s nowhere else, that I’d rather be.”

10 AM (Bucky Barnes Imagines)
Anon: Do you still take requests? Sorry if I'm filling up your inbox but can you do a bucky/reader song fic based on the song 10 am by Keaton Henson? I think it would be a PERFECT Bucky fic. Your writing is amazing af btw! :)))
A/N: This is like three years late but this song is perfect for Bucky.
Prompt: Bucky is hopelessly in love with Y/N. He stops himself from saying anything to her because he’s afraid of getting hurt again, not knowing how much more he can take in his lifetime.
-
This feels right and I'm letting it
And now I know just what to do
Tire of me if you will, my dear
I will not tire of you
Bucky loves you. If there’s one thing he’s certain about in the crazy and messed up world that he found himself in the midst of, it’s that he loves you. When nothing else in the world made sense, you were the one who offered him clarity. When Bucky was mad at the world for making life so difficult, you were the one who he went to for comfort. When Bucky was broken because he remembered all of his wrong-doings, you were the one to reassure him that he was still worthy. You were always there for him.
He tried, he really did, to make sure that you weren’t his only source of happiness, but every time he pulled himself away from you, his love guided him right back in the palm of your hand. He knew it wasn’t healthy for him to depend on you so much. He grew afraid that his constant need for you would be the reason why you would leave him, no matter how many times you scolded him for his incorrect thoughts. Bucky couldn’t help it. He couldn’t handle another loss in his life.
Bucky knew of his feelings for you long before the snap. But it wasn’t until he came back and Steve chose to live the life he always yearned for, that Bucky realized that if you were to walk out of his life, his heart would shatter.
There were only a handful of times where he felt like his heart was being chipped away. The first was when he left his family as he got shipped off to fight for the country back when he was solely just Bucky Barnes. The second time was when he woke up strapped on a table, missing his arm, and he watched the HYDRA agents gather around him like he was some spectacle. The third was when he recognized Steve, beaten and bruised, all done by his own fists. The last time was when he saw Steve’s silhouette, wrinkled and fragile, with a golden band around his finger.
But when he thought about you no longer being a part of his life, his heart crumbled. He felt it in his chest, heavy and painful, like a pain that he could never recover from. He sat there with Steve that night, staring off as the sun set, explaining to his best pal how he was feeling.
Steve replied, “That was what I felt all those years when I wasn’t with Peggy.”
That was the moment when Bucky truly saw the courage and the bravery of his oldest and dearest friend. Sure, the Steve that was too stupid to back down from a fight carried himself with foolish bravery, but the Steve that lived with the pain of losing the love of his life was something that left Bucky speechless. He knew deep down in his heart that a pain like that is something he wouldn’t dare to live with. Steve was a selfless man, who for once put himself first and accepted the love he rightfully deserved.
And this is the world as I see it now
Turns out that nothing is fair
You can leave me if you wish, my love
But I'm not going anywhere
Bucky couldn’t pinpoint exactly when he fell for you. Though he had a few guesses, he was never certain. There were just a few moments that would be forever burned in his mind.
He remembered the one time you were washing dishes after a team dinner. You had your hair up to get it away from your face and you were wearing an old college shirt. It was way too big on you. The shirt nearly drowned you but Bucky thought it was the most adorable thing in the world.
You complained to the team that you didn’t want to wash the dishes again, being the one who washed it two nights before. Everyone else was too tipsy, in Wanda’s case, too drunk, off the fancy red wine Tony brought over to handle breakables. Bucky’s super-soldier serum prevented him from feeling the effects of alcohol so he volunteered himself to help you. Unbeknownst to the both of you, the team purposely did that so Bucky could have some alone time with you, and maybe, finally get the courage he needed to tell you how he felt.
You two spent the next thirty minutes cleaning up after the grown adults, who acted like children, playing Twister in the other room. You talked about his time as a soldier and your time as a college student. There was never an empty silence. The conversation never seemed to stop between you two.
The team knew you brought that side out of Bucky. You and Steve were the only two that ever got him to open up, as much as the others tried to weasel their way into Bucky’s soft side. Only you managed to crack the code and after a few months, the team made their peace with that.
Bucky dried the plates while you washed. He looked at you as you tried to continuously blow away the strand of hair that managed to escape your hair tie. Your hands were covered in the bubbly liquid and you didn’t want your hair to get wet. You would giggle a soft, “Sorry,” every time you’d catch him look in your direction as you pursed your lips to shoo the stubborn piece of hair away. He placed the white plate down on the counter and tucked the piece of hair behind your ear. You blushed at his action, looking down at your feet to save yourself from the embarrassment of melting under the stare of his baby blue eyes.
That image was what calmed Bucky down whenever he felt like he was disconnected from himself. He just remembered the softest shade of pink making its way down to your neck as he let his fingers linger on top of your skin.
And please do not hurt me, love
I am a fragile one
And you are the white in my eyes
Please do not break my heart
I think it's had enough
Pain to last the rest of my life
Bucky also remembered the time you caught his attention during a mission debrief. He stopped paying attention to Fury some time ago and you caught his focus from across the table. You were playing with a little ladybug that found itself stuck inside the conference room. The little insect crawled over your folders, a drop of color a midst the black and white paper work on the table.
He watched as your eyes lit up upon finding the small insect. His enhanced hearing allowed him to hear you say, “Hey, little guy,” to the bug. Your lips tugged into a small smile and your attention was diverted to it, making sure that nobody else on the team saw what you were paying attention to.
The rest of the meeting seemed to drag on, until finally Fury let everyone get back to their own lives. You scooped up all of your things, making sure that the bug was safe in your hands. Bucky pushed his chair back and made his way over to you. He asked you if you needed help carrying your things so you could spend more time making sure the ladybug was okay. You nodded up at him and he wasted to time in grabbing a hold of your many folders and laptop. You started walking in front of him, stopping right before you reached the door.
You put your hand out for him to see the ladybug, the widest smile taking over your face, “Bucky, meet Mimi.”
Bucky couldn’t help but mimic the smile you had on your face. You were too busy looking at the red dot in your hand to notice that Bucky was staring right at you while he said, “Hi, Mimi. Nice to meet you. I’m Bucky.”
You continued to walk out of the sliding doors with him trailing behind, the goofy smile on his face not showing a sign of disappearing any time soon. Before he could take another step, a hand pulled him back, taking him by surprise. He looked to his left and saw Sam with a shit-eating grin on his face.
“Dude,” Sam started. “You are so whipped.”
Bucky couldn’t even say anything back because he knew that he was. He knew that you had him wrapped around your finger. And the worst part is, he didn’t mind it one bit.
My endless distraction, you worry me
And I'm trying to figure out how
You don't have to make any promises, love
I'm afraid I might die for you now
The last thing he remembered was when you were all in Wakanda, fighting Thanos, right before the snap. The fight was winding down and he felt like there was something that was about to go wrong. He watched from afar as Thanos retrieve the final stone. Bucky felt his heart drop to his stomach. His ears were ringing, like there was this alarm going off in his head. He wanted it to stop so badly because he heard a faint voice calling his name in the distance. Your voice.
Suddenly, he felt someone wrap their arms around him. He broke out of his trance and saw you against his body. Your lip was bleeding and he was sure that your clothes were torn apart by the fights. There were tears staining your face and Bucky wanted nothing else but to wipe them from your cheeks and tell you everything is going to be okay.
He couldn’t bring himself to do that.
He promised you months ago that he would never lie to you. It was the one thing that he took pride in since he became the Winter Soldier. He wasn’t a liar, and he was not about to lie to you now. He knew everything wouldn’t be okay.
So he held you, wrapped tightly in his arms, whispering, “I got you, Y/N. I got you.”
Bucky let himself close his eyes, breathing you in before the worst came. Then, as if on cue, he was hugging nothing else but the air around him. He looked for you, frantically calling your name out. He ran through the woods trying to find you, or anyone, who could explain to him what was happening. He saw Steve in the near distance and called out for him, “Steve.”
That was the last thing he remembered.
And I'd kill just to watch as you're sleeping
I hope that you'll let me in time
You don't have to call me yours, my love
Damn it, I'm calling you mine
When he saw you again, he relished your scent, your warmth, your voice, just a bit longer than he allowed himself with the others. You squeezed him tighter, missing the feeling of his arms wrapped around you for the five years you were deprived of him. Bucky did the same.
You two had been inseparable since then. It was like the five years that you lived without each other were five years that your minds completely blurred out, wanting to erase any memory of life without one another. This time around, you started leaning on Bucky the same way he had been leaning on you. He felt selfish admitting it to himself but he liked the way you always searched for him after every nightmare, like he was your own solace. He liked the way you ran to him for everything, whether it was opening a stubborn jar or calming yourself after an intense mission. Bucky liked that he felt needed. It made it even better that it was you who needed him.
You two moved in together, knowing that you both needed each other more than anything during times like these. You helped him get back on his feet and was his own personal tour guide in the 21st century. Bucky helped you grow from your trauma, sharing his own experiences trying to come to terms with his own. Things were balanced and complete with the two of you. You didn’t complete each other, you simply learned how to help the other complete them-self.
You accompanied Bucky as he visited Steve, showing off pictures from your latest rendezvous. Every time you would see Steve, you would see the smile he sported on his face finally reach his eyes. For all the years you’ve known him, you never saw his eyes light up the way it did after he came back from returning the stones. He was finally happy.
As you excused yourself to get a cup of water, Steve motioned Bucky over to sit next to him. The brunette obliged, making himself comfortable on the couch cushions beside his best friend. He placed his hand above Bucky’s, showing off the wedding band he refused to take off. “Have you told her yet, Buck?”
“Not yet,” He sighed. “I’m scared of telling her, Steve. I don’t know what she’ll say.”
Steve laughed, the crinkles by his eyes showing. “Bucky, everything she’ll say to you has been said by her many times before.”
Bucky looked at him confused, “What do you mean?”
“She confessed her love to you, long, long ago, Bucky.” He explained, looking off in the distance to see you talking to Nurse Joy, the woman taking care of Steve. “She may have not said it directly but it’s in the way she looks at you, the way she takes care of you... That woman loves you, Buck. You’re just too blind to see it.”
Those words sunk into Bucky’s heart. Maybe, just maybe, Steve was right, but Bucky was too foolish, too afraid, to let himself fully believe it. He just smiled at his best friend and turned his attention back to you once you entered the room again. “Hey, doll. Thought you left me.”
You leaned over and placed the cup of water on the table separating you from the two men. You chuckled, “I could never leave you, Bucky.”
Your eyes met his and for the first time, Bucky felt like he understood what Steve was saying. Your simple words shielded a meaning that was deeper than the superficial answer. Bucky’s heart fluttered at your words and he just stared at you in awe. God, he hoped that you felt the same way too because he knew he couldn’t survive another tragedy in his life.
Please do not hurt me, love
I am a fragile one
And you are the light in my eyes
Please do not break my heart
I think it's had enough
Pain to last the rest of my life
My life
And I will not tire of you
