You really didn't expect to wake up with the sun shining in your face. It wasn't normal for the sun to appear at five in the morning. You fumbled for your cell phone and felt your soul practically leaving your body when you saw the display showing that it was eleven in the morning. Shit, you were late.
Not paying much attention to being alone in the room, you rolled out of bed and straight into the shower, bathing yourself as quickly as you could. It was difficult trying to concentrate your body on getting ready while your mind thought about the delay, the models you needed to pick up, your appointment time, all the other problems in the universe. A lot of things, little time.
You stuffed everything you needed into your backpack and wearing the first clothes you found - which would probably make you lose your job at the studio - you descended the stairs like a hurricane.
"Good morning babe." You heard it from the kitchen and responded, not realizing that the answer had only remained in your mind.
Meeting, sketches, consultation. Who had the great idea of scheduling everything for just one Saturday? As you ran from one destination to another, you felt your cell phone vibrate.
"Hey love." Pedro's voice echoed.
"Hey." you said dejectedly, while dodging some people on the sidewalk. "Something happened?"
"I wanted to know if everything is okay? You left, didn't talk to me, didn't even say good morning."
"I didn't answer?"
"Baby, you just flew through the living room door." you were sure you had answered. His voice sounded understanding at least.
"I'm sure... Anyway, is that all there is to it? I'm super busy right now."
"Okay, shall we talk later?" he asked and only an "Okay" left your lips.
As soon as the call ended, an avalanche of thoughts emerged. That would be a busy day and you still had material to deliver today.
The sun was already starting to set when you stopped in front of the door of your house. From your house. Despite having spent the day outside, there were still issues to be resolved, which already left your blood boiling.
When you open the door, you can find Pedro lying on the sofa, busy with something on his cell phone.
"Hey, is everything okay?" he set the device aside, giving you his full attention. "I almost didn't see you today."
"Everything's fine, just a lot of stuff to sort out. The fall show is coming up and there's still stuff to produce." you indicated the huge folder in your hand.
Without paying much more attention, you went to your office and dumped the folder under the table and began to organize some ready-made sketches, others still in the beginning.
"Did you eat today? I can make you something if you want." Pedro's requesting voice caught your attention. He was leaning against the door, analyzing you.
"I do not need it, thank you."
"Why do I get the feeling that something is wrong?" he asked, entering the room and dodging some scattered fabrics. "Is really everthing fine?"
"Yes." you replied halfheartedly, trying to refocus.
"Julia asked me to remind you to make an appointment with her." he warned, pulling practically the last thread of concentration that existed in you. "She wants to make sure everything looks right with her party dress."
"Yes. Remind her that we both have the same training, the same knowledge and I don't need her to be a babysitter about my choices." The words almost involuntarily left your lips. A small inner voice screamed at you have you gone crazy?
"What the...I'm tired, what the hell is happening to you today?" Pedro seemed indignant and there was some side inside you that wouldn't take away his reason.
"I need time and space to do my things. I'm sorry if I can't give my full attention to Julia or whatever, if I forgot to reply to your good morning today." your voice rose a few tones.
Pedro's face showed that it wouldn't end well. The voice in your mind was already begging you please shut up.
"Not everything is about you or the sudden lack of manners you decided to have."
"Pedro, I really don't want to talk about this right now. I'm full of work."
"You really don't want to talk about this, do you? You really don't want to talk about shit today!"
You tried to ignore the harsh tone of voice he had, one you weren't used to hearing. You thought about retorting, about asking for a little space, but you didn't understand what was going on in your own mind. You just watched him leave towards the room, while looking at your drawings again.
You tried to create, you tried to work but it seemed impossible. Some piece didn't fit, some piece was lost and your brain seemed even more lost, unable to find it.
What took you away from the focus you were trying to have on the pile of papers in front of you was a small noise a few centimeters away, right after another similar noise. You could feel the presence of Pedro, who remained just a few seconds behind you in silence, leaving you alone and without time to respond. When you looked up, the first thing you found was a glass full of water, next to your little pot of pills. Shit.
Since the name of the medicine was written in huge letters, the only thing you could read there was Guilty. That explained a lot about your day.
You turned the bottle of pills over in your hand, taking the necessary amount and let the weight on your conscience lay you down on the papers and wait a few minutes.
You could feel the effect take over your body, your mind, which was previously a mess, seemed to organize all the thousand problems into small folders, your vision was clearer than it had been at any point that day. There was a problem marked as a priority in your mind.
You went up the stairs and found Pedro concentrated, choosing a t-shirt to wear. His wet hair and the steam coming from the bathroom indicated that he had recently gotten out of the shower. Before he could see you, your arms wrapped around his waist and your face rested on his back.
"I'm sorry about today, I've been a jerk all day." your voice was muffled by the strength you used in the hug. "I don't want to blame the medicine, but I forgot about it today."
"It's okay, my love. I think I went a little too far too" he turned around, returning the hug you were giving him. His hands were lost in your hair, your face now resting on his chest. "Tough days, huh?"
"The closer it gets to the day of the fashion show, the more anxious I get." You pulled away to face him. "How did you know it was the medicine?"
"You always forget it in the sink, next to my shampoo, which I always forget too. Today I saw that my shampoo was missing its favorite companion. Besides, I like to keep an eye on you, young lady." He laughed, caressing your face. Your guilty look made it clear that everything wasn't okay. "Hey, it's okay to forget, besides, fights happen."
"It's not okay for me to be a complaining bitch."
"I understand, with so much going on, but one bad day isn't going to make me love you less."
"How can I thank you for this? Or, I don't know, apologize."
"A dinner, a wine..." he said in a suggestive tone, eliciting a light laugh from you.
"Really? That's all?"
"I mean, they say make-up sex is some of the best." His lips went down to your neck, but only placing a chaste kiss. "I'm kidding darling, you need a break, you need to lay that pretty little head of yours to rest."
"I just need you."
"Lucky for you, a shot of Pedro always goes well with wine." He laughed, quickly taking your lips to his. "I love you, mi vida"

Gastroenterologist office has put me in a downright catch 22. It's been two years since I've been in, which, my bad, I moved away and moved back, got out of sync with regular appointments.
I've been on Xeljanz the entire time, the only IBD med that has worked for me other than steroids. They say they can't refill my script until I come in. I schedule an appointment at the end of June for Sept. 14, they let me have another month of Xeljanz. Great.
Except I forgot I have a wedding to go to and will see some relatives for the first time in years. So I call today to reschedule. Well, now it will be November 7th if you want to see the IBD specialist, but we can put you on the cancelation list and then put you with the NP in mid October. Fine, I'll see the NP, in my experience NPs are better in clinic anyways.
"So you'll prescribe me more Xeljanz to tide me over, right?"
"..."
"Right?"
"Well, since you haven't been seen in two years, no."
Okay, well that's not going to happen because I need to treat my UC or I'm gonna have an awful flare and end up totally unable to leave the house and all that good stuff and then you're going to make me go through another steroid course and just prescribe more Xeljanz, I end up worse and will end up needing more of the clinic's time which is apparently an extremely limited resource with a two month+ waiting period.
Anyways, I end up convincing them to give me samples to tide me over and I just swung by to get them and they gave me like six full bottles (some are 10mg where I take five, so I get two months out of those bottles). I know I was the first patient in the clinic to go on Xeljanz, I may be the only one still, and they just dumped their whole supply on me? Okay? Cool?
It's worth noting the retail cost of one 60 ct. Bottle (month's supply) is like $5000 without insurance (about $15 with manufacturers rebate card, which only works with insurance) and they just handed me like $30,000 of meds for free.
The US medical system is full of more shit than I am. You can't prescribe me one month without seeing me, but can just hand me half a year's supply? Okay.

Why did you elbow me? 137
Achilles Castle part 42
Alexis: pov I got out of school early and decided to head to the loft, I totally forgot Kate had a cardiologist appointment today. I hope the appointment went well. I can hear Kate say as I walk towards dad's room. I'm scared. I thought my heart was okay. Dad says it is Kate. I knock on the door asking if I can come in, Dad says sure. I apologize for interrupting their important conversation, Kate says it's okay, that is when I notice the pamphlet on the bed.
Castle: pov I can see Alexis looking at the pamphlets. She looks confused, I explain to her that these 2 procedures are something Kate's cardiologist mentioned that could help Kate but she does not want to get it done, because she is scared of what could happen.
Alexis: pov I tell Kate it's okay to be scared and afraid. She says no it's not I'm a cop. Fear/weakness is a sign of failure and failure means you get injured on the job. I tell her we are all human and being afraid/scared is okay. I can hear the front door opening, It must be Lanie.
Lanie: pov Alexis shouts from the bedroom, she asks how the medical examiner thing went i tell her it went Fine, Alexis goes upstairs saying she should change for her date with Dave.
Castle: pov I sit on the bed and put Kate on my lap holding her close to me, I kiss her on the forehead saying everything is going to be okay. I tell Lanie what the Dr said. Kate it's okay to be scared and afraid but if the cardiologist says these procedures will help you have less episodes then you should do it. In the end it's your body and your choice, but me and Lanie agree with your cardiologist that you should have the procedures done.
Castle: pov Kate just starts crying, I understand why she is upset she might not be able to have kids. I tell her it's okay we will make the appointment with the high risk ob gyn and see what they say. We can always use a surrogate. It would still be our child. The only difference is you didn't Carry it.
Lanie: pov I quietly wait for Castle wheel himself in his office and tell him everything about both procedures and why it would benefit her. In Kate's case a small incision would have to be made on her chest so they can remove some of the scar tissue since she has a lot. They would also probably do the icd procedure at the same time as the catheter ablation procedure since it would only remove a little bit. Obviously these procedures will help her but it's 100 percent her choice if she wants it, we can't force her to get it done. Don't be pushy when talking about it, but mention the benefits it will have on her health.
Castle: pov Dr Burkett is scheduling her for a muga scan and sleep study the Muga scan will show how her heart is pumping/functioning.
Kate; pov Lanie says I should lay down and relax for a bit. She gives me a hug and says call me when you decide what you want to do. Lanie has plans with Esposito later when he gets home from the precinct. I grab my anti-roll pillow and puts it next to my left side so I can take a nap after we talk
Martha: pov I arrive home from my acting class to find Richard in the kitchen cooking. I ask how his day went. He says good, didn't Katherine have a Dr appointment today.
Castle: pov Yes mother it was a cardiologist appointment and it did not go well. He wants her to have these 2 procedures done. One on her scar tissue and the other is an icd device and Kate does not want to have it done. Also she might not be able to have children. I discuss the procedures a little bit more and tell mother to not bring it up let her mention it.
Esposito: pov after work I arrive at Lanie's so we can spend some time together. She looks upset, Lanie says it's nothing Kate was just rough today at the Dr's. I ordered some Chinese food so that we can cuddle and watch a movie together.
Kate: pov I spent most of the night up thanks to a nightmare. I'm trying to get my curly hair into a ponytail before I have to leave for work. My shirts don't have normal buttons, they are fastener type things that pull apart when you pull on them. I grab a black shirt and black pants, Castle is making oatmeal for breakfast while I take my pills. I still have not decided if I'm getting the procedures done. Dr Burkett managed to squeeze me in for the MUGA scan tomorrow. I'm kind of scared, Castle is going with me. I can't eat six hours before the scans. The scariest part is that I can't take my heart meds. We discontinued my pod today, Castle will put it back on tomorrow after the scan. I also will remove my ampstrip in the morning. Me and Castle are going to go shopping today after work at the baby store to buy Jenny a gift since she is having a boy. Maybe we can stop for ice cream after.
Ryan: pov Kate spent most of the day in her office. I asked how Castle was doing and she said fine, surprisingly he is not that bored this time. He is at home getting some writing done. Kate brought some lunch from home. She is being careful trying to avoid getting food poisoning.
Castle: pov Kate got off early enough that we can go out to eat after, at the baby store me and Kate are looking at some options in the newborn section when an employee walks over asking if we need help. He is suggesting some options we might like, I think he thinks the stuff is for us. He mentions there are some great bottles we might like unless we are breastfeeding the baby. To be continued. …….

Dazed Puppy Diaries Journal Entry #2🐶🐕
In this journal I talk about my recent appointments, updates regarding my agoraphobia, briefly share a bit about our plurality, and more.
(disclaimer I'm still figuring out whether I want to go into more detail regarding our plurality on this blog. I started this blog to share about my experience and obviously our plurality and discovering our system is a significant part of my experience thus far, but it's also an incredibly sensitive topic. It's certainly not something I want to constantly pretend doesn't exist and frankly doing so isn't fair to other members in our system. As much as I love embracing being queer, atypical, and alternative I've spent so much of our life masking and that doesn't only pertain to being autistic. I've spent a significant portion of our life thus far knowingly and unknowingly masking our neurodiversity and trauma from the world because I felt I had to. I need to learn to unmask and that's something that takes time. For further clarification sake this blog is owned by "me" Bandit our system's host, therefore these blog posts will almost always be written by me and come from my perspective. I'm sorry if that was a lot for a prelude, but I feel like I need to give us a thousand disclaimers before speaking on this part of my experience. Also to wrap up this prelude sorry if this journal entry is a little messy I was pretty tired when writing it, but I was trying to get it out before midnight.)
TW for
extensive discussion on mental health related topics like agoraphobia and dissociation
discussion of homelessness
Well I guess my "daily" journal entries are off to a rough start, I just haven't felt like writing the last couple days. I've also been kinda busy, like I had two different appointments yesterday and had to get labs done on Tuesday.
Agoraphobia wise going out and getting my labs done wasn't super fun, but I've been to that lab quite a few times which makes it a little better.
Then there was Thursday, I met with my skills specialist and peer support counselor. I'm not sure if I mentioned this in my first journal where I talk about my suspected agoraphobia, but my therapist is having me go out with my skills specialist to work on my agoraphobia. Yesterday we went to a grocery store and we just kind of talked. Something I totally forgot to mention in my first journal where I talked about my suspected agoraphobia is that it's much easier for me to be in grocery stores for example or use public transportation if I'm with another person. I didn't totally realize this until a couple weeks ago when I went to the grocery store with one of my partners. I felt pretty okay, but later on I went to stores alone and experienced a lot of anxiety and panic symptoms.
Anyway after that I had the appointment with my peer support counselor over the phone. We primarily talked about my living situation, my writer's block, and the agoraphobia. She wants to schedule an appointment sometime where we just go outside and walk around to help with my agoraphobia.
Then today I had therapy which was pretty good, unfortunately I dissociate in a lot of my appointments which makes remembering the details kind of hard. I'm so close to telling them about our plurality though, but I'm really nervous about them not taking me seriously. Don't get me wrong my new therapist is awesome, but it's just one of those things that's terrifying to talk about. We ended this appointment by saying that we would talk more about my dissociation in the next appointment and I have the sneaking suspicion they know where this is going. Nonetheless I'm scared it's going to go badly, it makes me kind of wish I didn't tell them I use TikTok. I'm kind of joking when I say that, but also I'm kind of not joking. I also don't have great communication with my headmates so I'm not really sure how they feel about it, but at the same time that's another reason why I feel like I need to tell my therapist about our plurality to help with communication. Then there's the part of me that worries I'm just faking it and feels embarrassed to talk about it at all even right now. Really though I think I'm making progress opening up to my therapist which I think is like half the battle. I was really nervous opening up to her about the agoraphobia, but that worked out just fine.
Besides my many appointments my air fryer broke today so I'm probably going to need to go out and buy another one which I'm not looking forward to. If you've gotten this far you can probably imagine I'm not looking forward to going to the store and buying a new air fryer, but I also really don't have the money for one. Despite the fact in my current living situation I kind of need the air fryer so it is what it is. Usually I'd give myself an incentive to go to the store like buying a new doll or squishmallow because I collect things, but I have to buy an air fryer. Anyway I've already put a lot money into my collecting hobbies recently. Being surrounded by things that make me happy is really important to me, but some would argue it's not the best usage of the little amount of money I have. I have a quick story to go along with that.
When I was homeless in 2021 my county had me living in a motel they utilize as a shelter. Real quick something I'm very grateful about is that my county recognizes their shelters are unsafe for trans people and will put up trans people and a motel. Obviously they could be and should be doing more, but it's still something to be grateful for. Anyway when I was staying in that motel I needed to buy food so I went to the dollar store in the plaza next door. While walking over to the dollar store I was on the phone with my friend Josiah because being on the phone helps with the agoraphobia. At the time I didn't realize that's why I was doing it, but now I can recognize that. So recap I'm homeless I'm at the dollar store buying food with the bit of money I have and I say something to my friend along the lines of, "Joey you'll never believe this they have Squishmallows!!" and he responded with something like, "no no don't buy a Squishmallow you're literally homeless!!" Needless to say I bought a Squishmallow, listen though that's what I really needed in that moment. To clarify I do care about my friend's opinions and concerns there was more to that conversation. Also at the time I was under the impression the department of human services was going to give me a meal card on Monday because they said they were going to, but they never did. Nonetheless I don't really regret my purchase. I do make impulse purchases, but I'm also pretty good at not spending money I genuinely need unless I need to buy an air fryer apparently. Though I will say my county not providing me that promised meal card is a big factor and why I wasn't able to cut off my family in 2021. I was living in that motel for 2 weeks before I got into another program so squishmallow or not the amount of money I had on me wasn't going to last 2 weeks. Anyway yeah I've put a fair amount of money into my collecting hobbies, but I really like to surround myself with things that make me happy. I think most my headmates if not all feel very similarly, I think Morgan really likes Halloween decorations. Speaking of which we got some Halloween beanie babies back in October, hopefully when we get out of this living situation I'll be able to show you our stuffed animal collection because it's pretty cool. Nonetheless I'm starting to ramble so I'm going to wrap this up. I might make a post later talking about a doll I got in the mail today I pre-ordered from Mattel Creations which was ironically probably around the same price the air fryer is going to be, but the past is in the past. I talked about this in my last journal, but I really am trying to limit the amount of money I put into my collecting hobby because I literally don't have a proper income. Nonetheless that's also one of the only things I have right now helping me cope through this living situation. Anyway like I said I'm starting to ramble so I'm going to wrap this up here.

5 times you called him by a pet name + one time he called you by a pet name
(Diluc + Zhongli x GN!Reader)
Diluc
1. "Oh, hey hon." You greet mildly.
The candles have begun burning a bit low, the long shadows making his pout even more obvious.
"I apologize, I was held up for longer than anticipated."
He produces a small bouquet from his coat, a cluster of wildflowers, and approaches like he's about to give an offering instead of a gift. He kneels by your chair, face stoic as usual, but you can see the worry and shame in his eyes.
You twirl the stems to absorb their delicate scent, and then carefully drop them in your water glass. You cup his face in your hands, and press a kiss to his brow.
"It's okay." You kiss his brow again, "I am not mad." You kiss his nose. "I am hungry though."
You laugh lightly at his rush to sit across from you. An evening eating cold roast was worth being able to spend it with him.
-
2. "I understand your frustration, but perhaps we had best move on." You place a hand on his crossed arms.
"Their behavior was unacceptable, especially for those who would call themselves knights."
The stubborn clench of his jaw tells you just how angry he is. The idiots were lucky to have only gotten the verbal bludgeoning earlier instead of the literal one he wanted to dish out.
"Yes, but you've already made them apologize, and they do seem repentant," the fool knights in training nod frantically, "so why not leave this mess for Kaeya, darling?"
He sighs, but loosens his posture to wrap a protective arm around you. The hell the Knights were going to catch for this was still to come, but at least no one lost any limbs. Yet.
-
3. Tucked into your pile of pillows, book in hand, you waited as you do most nights. Diluc had a late meeting scheduled after dinner, but he promised it was truly to do with the winery and not of the vigilante variety.
So you bide your time, until you hear his heavy boots come up the stairs.
"I'm home." He calls softly.
"Welcome back." You say just as softly.
He goes through the motions of undressing, refreshing himself, and redressing without missing a beat, but his posture seems wilted. You mark your page, and turn over the blanket for him.
"How did it go?"
He heaves a deep sigh, and crawls over to you. Pulling you close, he lays his head on your chest but doesn't say another word.
"Oh, sweetness." You embrace him, one hand holding his face and the other in his hair. "It's okay. I've got you."
-
4. You lengthen your steps, but the increased pace doesn't seem to deter the boy following you. He isn't dangerous per se, but his persistence is damned annoying.
"But, if you'll just listen," he jogs back up to your side, "I just need your help for a little while!"
"I am neither a Knight nor an Adventurer," you cut him off with a sharp wave of your hand, "And you have nothing I want. Now leave me be."
He sputters, "M-master Diluc said-"
As if he's had his tongue plucked out, he suddenly stops talking.
You turn around only to find Diluc himself, a stifling hand on the kid's shoulder. His face is a stoic mask as always, but his energy is thunderous.
"I agreed to help you out of deference to your mother, but you," You see the boy wince as the hand tightens, "failed to listen to a word I said. Harassing my staff and my partner has only earned you banishment from all of my properties. Now go, before I report you to the Knights as well."
You both stand stock still as the boy sprints from the winery back to Mondstadt proper.
"Your going to report him anyways, right?" You mumble, after he is just a speck on the horizon.
"Of course," He finally relaxes his stance to look at you, "Though I doubt Jean will be happy about it."
Your chuckle, already imagining her face when the letter reaches her desk. Heaving a sigh, just grateful for the problem to have moved on, you grab Diluc's hand.
"Thank you," You pull him into a tight hug, "for protecting me as always, angel."
-
5. You gently rap on the door frame to his office. He looks up from his work just long enough to give you a soft smile.
"I was wondering," You lean against the frame, avoiding actually entering lest you get sucked in as well, "If my dear husband was going to come to bed tonight?"
The bright lamp on his desk means you see his blush even from across the room. He huffs an embarrassed laugh, but starts shuffling paperwork into orderly piles.
"I hadn't realized the time, my apologies."
You hum, "It is understandable. But I cannot rest if you are not in bed with me."
You watch as he tucks away his tools, pulls his gloves off, and undoes the tie in his hair, all with a much to pleased smirk on his face.
He pulls you into a delicate, lingering kiss with a hand on your neck. The warmth of his skin makes you shiver. You lean into him, letting him wrap you in his arms.
He chuckles, "Well, I would hate to neglect my husbandly duties."
+
1. The lingering warmth from your bath and the softness of the sheets has you dozing in minutes. You toss a hand onto Diluc's side of the bed, wanting to be present when he comes to bed as well but the ache of a long day is catching up to you.
After several moments you feel a calloused hand grasp your own. You are too tired to properly see, but feel the dip as he climbs into bed.
Still holding your hand in a delicate grip, he presses a kiss to your palm, and then your cheek.
"Sleep, my love, I am here."
Tumblr media
Zhongli
1. Zhongli re-enters the house not even ten minutes after leaving. He is patting down his jacket and looking about the entryway in wonder, and you can't help but chuckle.
"Forget something?"
"Yes," he plants his hands on his hips, "I can't seem to find my wallet. I could have sworn I remembered it this time."
You get up from where you were leisurely awaiting his return, and snag the 'disappearing' wallet from where he left it on the table.
"Not quite, old man." You wave it, teasing.
"Ah, of course."
Tucking it into the pocket of his jacket, you tug him closer to plant a kiss on his flushed cheek.
"My apologies, it seems I was a bit distracted this morning."
He tucks a piece of hair away from your face, gaze so blatantly loving you can't help but crash your lips against his. Damn whatever appointment he may have, he shouldn't be so handsome in your direction.
-
2. It is not every day you wake up before him, so you try to make the most of it. You prepare his clothes for the day, just so you can pick out your favorite of his shirts. You start a light breakfast, and brew an energizing blend of tea for both of your sake.
You spend some time simply waiting at the table, content to sip your tea and watch the morning birds.
When the soft shuffle of feet brings Zhongli into the kitchen, you stand up. He is mostly dressed, minus his tie and shoes, jacket loose around his shoulders.
You steer him to the table, and press a kiss to his cheek when seated.
He hums contentedly, still a bit sleepy, "Good morning."
You pour him a cup of tea as well, and his smile grows a bit wider. He tilts his head up, "Thank you."
You meet him half way, pressing a firm kiss to his mouth, "Of course dearest. Do you have anything pressing today?"
A hand comes to rest on your hip, preventing you from moving back to your seat.
"No, nothing more important than this."
-
3. Squished between the mattress and the press of his body, you couldn't imagine being more content. The warmth, the scent, the feel of his breath ghosting across your skin.
You run a reverent hand through his hair, spread loose over his back. It seems impossible for you to be this happy, like you would only read about in unrealistic fantasies.
Amber eyes are already watching you, when you open yours. His gaze is soft, unbearably so, so you look at the ceiling.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
He answers it so easily, as if it is among the many universal truths that exist in his head.
"You must understand," You wet your nervous mouth, "I mean it. Truly, I love you."
You feel his head tilt in confusion, but power on, emotions spilling.
"You are my starlight. My life would be unimaginably dark without you. I am scared constantly by the sway you have over me, but I cannot stand the idea of living without you. I want be here with you, forever, no matter the cost."
You squeeze your eyes shut against the flood of tears that threaten to spill, waiting for his polite retreat. His body lifts off yours and you pull a shuddering breath in, unused to laying yourself bare in this way. He could end you now, destroy you by just walking away.
But you feel tremoring hands grasp your face, almost too tightly. He doesn't say a word, can't, but presses his forehead to yours.
-
4. "Zhongli?" You call into the empty hum of the parlor, hoping it will carry to his office. It's not far, but he gets absorbed in his work easily.
You lean out the door a bit, and try to project your voice more, "Hey, honey?"
The door to his office clicks open, and his head pokes out. "Do you need assistance?"
"Yes, please," you adjust the pile of books in your arms, "Would you mind grabbing this other pile? A client requested reference material from just about every era, and I don't think I have the wing span to carry all of it."
He presses a quick kiss to your head, and scoops up the remaining books with no problem.
"Of course, would you like me to relieve you of those as well?"
"Not a chance, show off, you're gonna have to deal with the doors."
As if to prove your point, he balances the stack in one hand to hold the front door open for you, smile only slightly smug.
-
5. Given how busy your lives were, and his propensity for letting time fly, you figured he would forget again. It would not be the first anniversary he forgot, and you imagine it wouldn't be the last.
It's not like you could hold it against him, especially not when he was so earnest and loving all year round.
So your surprise was genuine when he led you, dressed in his best, to a private booth at Liuli Pavilion.
The food was made by the head chef, as a show of gratitude for Zhongli's long patronage (you send a quiet thank you to Childe), and the service superb. The evening is relatively quiet, you converse as normal but with the additional soppiness that comes from acknowledging romance.
You are especially glad for the privacy when you cannot help but practically ravish the man over the table, his face being too handsome to bear just looking at.
Shortly after, he looks at you with burning eyes, and finally says, "I am quite full. Perhaps we should head home."
"That sounds perfect."
You continue to stare, sappy and sated, as he blindly pats at his pockets, equally unwilling to look away.
After several moments, it dawns on you, and then immediately on him.
You can't help it. You laugh. Hysterically, because no matter what Zhongli is Zhongli.
He's standing now, flustered like you've never seen, pacing the room as if his wallet would be anywhere but the table at home.
"This was not my intent." He huffs, "I had planned the evening meticulously."
"And it was lovely," You choke back another laugh, "But, sugar, you are not living this down for the rest of our lives!"
You are laughing as you pull out your own wallet, giggling uncontrollably as you hand over all the money on your person, and can barely walk you're so light headed when he leads you out the door.
He doesn't once let you go, from the pavilion's steps to your front door. Indulgent to the end, your man.
+
1. It is always a pleasant surprise when your errands overlap. Working nearly in conjunction makes it happen quite often, but still, it makes your day brighter.
You have just finishing bartering your lunch into existence when you spot Zhongli headed your way. Quickly, you slip the chef a few more mora to add another dish.
He is at your side in an instant, bringing your hand to his lips in that coquettish way he has.
"There you are," he lowers your hand but does not drop it, "I've been looking for you, treasure."
You twine your fingers together, relishing the warmth. You snug up to his side, taking the liberty of placing his hand on your hip just to see him blush.
"Have you now?"
"Always."

Pairing: Tom Holland x Reader with OCD
Thank you to the anon who requested this and consulted with me on OCD!
Disclaimer: It is not my intention to glorify or romanticize OCD with this story. I consulted with multiple people who have OCD to develop this character.

“Are you ready for bed?” Tom asked as he climbed under the covers on his side. It was your first night in Tom’s house after moving in with him, and you had a nervous feeling in your tummy. There were things about yourself you had begun to notice, and you wondered how long it would take for Tom to notice as well.
“Almost.” You nodded as you knocked on the wall behind you four times. You climbed into bed beside Tom as if nothing happened, leaving Tom puzzled.
“What are you doing?” Tom chuckled as he watched your movements.
“If I don’t do this, I can’t sleep.” You said simply.
“Okay.” Tom laughed again, making you grime a little.
“I know it doesn’t actually help me sleep.” You admitted. “I just need to do it.”
“Wow. I can’t wait to see all the other little quirks you’ve been hiding from me.” Tom smirked as he leaned over to kiss you.
“Yeah.” You laughed nervously. “Quirks.”
~
Tom woke up the next morning to the feeling of you playing with his hair.
“Good morning sleepy head.” You said through a yawn as you combed his hair off his face.
“Good morning to you too. Are you hungry?” Tom asked as he rubbed your shoulders.
“Um, what time is it?” You sleepily rubbed your eyes.
“111:23” He answered after checking his phone.
“I’m okay.” You decided, despite your stomach growling. “I’ll wait until lunch.”
“Are you sure?” Tom noticed the growl. “I can make you something.”
“I’m sure. Sure, sure, sure.” You told him. “I’ll wait until lunch.”
Once the clock hit an even number, it was lunchtime. You walked into the kitchen at 2:24 feelings famished.
“God I’m hungry.” You patted your stomach. “Do you have anything to eat?”
“Let’s see.” Tom said as he opened his cabinet. “I have honey and boxed Mac and cheese.”
“Ooo. This a fancy restaurant.” You teased as you hugged him from behind.
“Shut up.” He laughed and turned around in your arms. “I haven’t gone shopping in a while.”
“It’s fine. We’ll go tomorrow.” You told him before kissing him. You broke away from him and took out the macaroni while he got out a pot and filled it with water.
“Here you are, my love.” Tom carried the heavy pot with ease and placed it on the stove.
“Thank you. How long does the box say to boil it for?” You asked as you turned the heat up on the stove.
“11-13 minutes.” Tom read off the back of the box.
“Okay.” You nodded as you set the timer to 12 minutes. “Okay, okay, okay.”
“So precise.” Tom joked, making your face flush.
“Yup.” You forced a laugh and kept your tone light. “I just like to be precise. I definitely don’t feel like I can’t eat the macaroni unless it cooks for exactly 12 minutes.”
“What was that?” Tom asked curiously when he didn’t understand what you said.
“Nothing.” You looked over your shoulder and smiled at him. “It’ll be ready soon.”
~
A month later, Tom walked into his bathroom to brush his teeth. You were already in there, leaning close to the mirror and pressing on all your teeth.
“What are you doing?” Tom chuckled as he wrapped his arms around your waist from behind.
“I need you to check my teeth.” You turned around in his arms with a panicked expression.
“For food?” He asked and looked at your teeth. “They’re all good.”
“No, for any loose ones.” You told him and he let out a short laugh.
“Why would your teeth be loose?” He raised an eyebrow, thinking you were kidding.
“They’re not. I know they’re not.” You said, mostly to yourself. “Could you just confirm for me that they’re not?”
Tom found the request strange, but obliged and pressed on your teeth the way you had.
“All good.” He confirmed. “Nothing loose.”
You sighed in relief and turned around again, leaving Tom curious about the encounter. He shrugged it off and walked back into the bedroom, throwing on his jacket as you finished up in the bathroom.
“You’re going out?” You asked from the doorway when you noticed Tom in his jacket.
“Yeah. I shouldn’t be too long.” He promised. “I just need to run to the store. I’ll be back before you’re asleep.”
“Will you be back before 12?” You asked as you tugged on your earlobe.
“Yeah, I will.” He told you as he placed his hands on your waist.
“Okay. I’ll see you then.” You smiled at Tom as you patted his cheek twice before kissing him. You did this every time Tom was about to leave the house. Before you were a couple, he’d text you before he would go out so you could flex your hand three times to ensure his safety. Now, it was two taps to the cheek and a kiss.
A few minutes after Tom pulled out of the driveway, his phone rang and lit up with your contact. He answered it but before he could say hello, you started speaking.
“Tom, are you okay?” You wheezed, sounding frantic.
“I’m fine, honey.” He quickly assured you. “Are you okay?”
“Yea.” You sounded more relaxed. “Are you sure you’re okay? Where are you?”
“I’m near the bakery.” He answered. “Did something happen?”
“No.” You sighed. “I just wanted to make sure you’re okay.”
“I’m okay.” He confirmed. “I’ll be home soon.”
“Alright. I love you.” You said into the phone. “I love, love, love you.”
~
“Are you ready to watch the movie, honey?” Tom called from the living room. It was a few months now since you started living together and he had taken a night off from work to be with you.
“Almost. I’m just washing my hands.” You called back. A commercial playing in the background caught your attention and you shut the water off to listen.
“What did they say it treated?” You asked as you looked over your shoulder at the TV.
“BPH.” Tom answered, reading off the screen.
“Do I have that?” You wondered, making Tom laugh. He looked back at you to see if you were kidding, but your face showed your we’re serious.
“BPH? No, lovey.” He shook his head. “That’s just for men. I think it’s when your prostate in enlarged. And in the words of Noah Puckerman, “chicks don’t have prostates”.”
“So I don’t have that?” You asked him again, as if you didn’t believe him.
“No. You don’t have that.” He answered, growing concerned.
“Okay.” You nodded and dried your hands. “Do you have that?”
“Um, I don’t think so.” Tom furrowed his eyebrows at the strange question.
“Okay.” You said again. “Just making sure.”
“Okay.” Tom eyed you curiously as the opening credits started to play. “Oo, it’s starting.”
“I love this movie.” You mumbled as you nuzzled into Tom’s side.
“Me too.” Tom smiled as he pulled you closer. “I’ve seen it like 3 times already.”
“I’ve seen it 13 times.” You said after a beat of silence, making Tom’s eyes widen.
“Really?” He asked. “You must really like it.”
“I like rewatching the same movies.” You said sheepishly.
“Why?”
“I like knowing the ending and whats gonna happen next.” You told him, looking at him to see if he thought it was weird. His face didn’t show any signs of disdain, so you relaxed.
You watched the movie in comfortable silence as time went on, never leaving each other’s sides.
“What time is it?” You asked as the movie neared it’s end.
“11:47 babe.” Tom answered when he checked his phone.
“I have to go to bed.” You said suddenly, getting up off the couch.
“The movies almost over, lovey.” Tom chuckled in confusion as you left his side. “Just 30 more minutes.”
“I know.” You chewed your lip nervously and twisted your fingers. “I just have to go to bed. I can’t really explain it.”
“Okay.” Tom nodded, still confused. “Good night.”
“Goodnight.” You bent down to kiss him before trotting off to bed. “Night, night, night.”
Tom was beginning to pick up on certain things. You needed it be in bed by 12, you often called him randomly to ask if he was okay, and you stayed away from odd numbers. He didn’t know what to chalk it up to, but he didn’t want to pry if you didn’t want to talk about it.
~
Tom caught you putting your caught on one morning as he was coming into the kitchen to get some breakfast.
“Where are you sneaking off to so early?” He asked through a yawn as he lazily kissed your lips.
“I forgot I have a doctors appointments today.” You pouted. “It’s in a few minutes.”
“Okay. Do you need me to drive you?” He offered.
“You don’t have to drive, but could you come with me?” You asked and he nodded.
“Of course. Let’s go.” Tom grabbed his keys and walked with you to the car.
~
You walked into the lobby where Tom had waited for you with a strange look on his face. Tom immediately stood up and met you halfway, feeling concerned when he saw your expression. He could sense something was off with you but he wasn’t sure what.
“Hey darling.” He rubbed your arms in comfort. “How was the appointment?”
“Um, fine.” You nodded hesitantly. “It was fine.”
“Just fine?” Tom asked. “Did the doctor say anything?”
“No.” You lied. “Nothing important.”
“Thats good.” Tom agreed, not fully convinced you were okay.
“Hey, when’s the last time you had a check up?” You wondered as you walked towards the car.
“Oh, I’m not sure.” Tom shrugged. “Less than a year ago.”
“You should probably get checked out. You know, to make sure you’re okay.” You told him as you buckled your seatbelt.
“Sure. I can schedule an appointment soon.” Tom nodded, still looking at you in confusion.
“Do you feel okay? Do you feel sick or anything?” You put your hand on his forehead while keeping your eyes on the road.
“No.” You said quickly. “I’m okay.”
You continued driving in silence as Tom wondered what was bothering you. You were nervously chewing your lip as you checked your rear view mirror every few seconds.
“Oh my God.” You gasped and looked behind you. “I have to turn around.”
“Why?” Tom turned around as well. “What’s wrong?”
“I might have hit someone.” You gulped and changed lanes so you could turn around. Tom jaw dropped a little, knowing full well that you hadn’t hit anyone.
“Lovey, you didn’t hit anyone.” He said slowly. “We would’ve felt it.”
“I know I didn’t.” You said in defeat. “I just need to check to make sure.”
“Okay.” Tom nodded, sensing something was wrong. “We can turn around.”
You turned around and passed by the street where you though you hit something. Nothing was there, so you kept driving. Tom kept his eyes on you, notching the worried look on your face as you continued to check the mirror.
“Are you okay?” He asked you.
“I have to do it again.” You sighed. “I have to turn around.”
“You didn’t hit anyone. You’re a good driver, baby.” He said quietly as he put his hand on your knee.
“I know I didn’t hit anyone. I know that but I just…” You sighed in frustration and put your blinker on. “I just have to. I’m sorry. I have to turn around.”
“Okay.” Tom agreed, not taking his eyes off you. You drove past the spot again and kept going, but your expression didn’t change.
“Do you want to turn around again?” Tom asked gently, and hit tears fell down your cheeks.
“Yes.” You sputtered. “I have to do it again. I know I didn’t hit anyone but-“
“It’s okay.” Tom assured you. “We can turn around as many times as you want.”
You gave him an appreciative look before turning around again. You calmed down as you passed the spot and continued driving in silence.
“I’m sorry.” You said after a minute. “I know it’s weird. I know I’m weird. I can’t help it though.”
“You don’t have to apologize. And I don’t think it’s weird. I just don’t understand.” Tom spoke softly as he rubbed your knee. You looked at him quickly and chew your lip as you toyed with something in your mind.
“Tom, I have OCD.” You said weakly as you snuck glances at him. Tom’s eyebrows raised in surprise before settling back down into a look of confusion.
“Oh. You do?”
“That’s what the doctor just said.” You continued. “He wants me to start medication but I’m not sure. I think I might need some help.”
“I’m proud of you for telling me you need help.” Tom squeezed your knee. “I had no idea you had OCD. You don’t clean things all the time or like, straighten your pencils or anything.”
“That’s not - no.” You shook your head. “It’s not really like that. It can be for some people, but that’s not what mine is like. OCD is not always cleaning bases. Mine is mostly instructive thoughts or repetitive behavior.”
“Oh.” Tom thought back on all your repetitive phrases and movements. “Oh.”
“Yeah.” You sighed and looked at him out of the corner of you eye to see his reaction.
“Is there anything I can do to help you?” He asked, much to your surprise.
“Could you just text me? I worry about you. Like, a lot.” You admitted. “I worry about if you’re okay or not all the time. Every time you go out of the house, I put on this one movie. I feel like if I’m not watching the movie, you’re gonna die. I can’t explain it. I know you won’t die, but I can’t shake the feeling that you will. I just always worry about you.”
“I think I can help that.” Tom offered. “I can text you every half hour and make sure you know I’m safe.”
“Are you sure?” You asked as you pulled into your driveway. “That’s a lot to ask.”
“It’s okay.” Tom assured you. “Whatever I can do to make this easier, I’ll do it.”
You smiled fondly at Tom before leaning over the gear shift and kissing him, patting his cheek twice before pulling away.
“Thank you.” You whispered. “Thats exactly what I needed to hear.”

July 1st, 1985
what the first ep of (my) s3 would look like if the main concept was: both Steve and Will are gay in 1985’s Summer of Love and the town’s enemy is a little more human; loving friendships, very confused adults, and Will Byers Actually Getting Help
“Harrington!”
“Yes, sir.” Steve looked up from his desk. He dropped his crossword and looked to be at attention; the police station’s phone wasn’t ringing, though, so there wasn’t really anything he should have been doing. Hopper stepped out of his office, angling himself toward the door rather than Steve’s desk island.
“Do you think you’ll be able to-- Harrington, what are you doing?” Hopper caught sight of the pocket thesaurus sitting on his desk (the last name written on the inside cover not belonging to Steve, of course). Hopper fixed his sunglasses on the edge of his nose, looking over them and down at Steve.
“I’m just, uh, working on my vocabulary.” Steve said. Hopper blinked twice, waiting. Steve wasn’t going to say the truth: he was dating-- well seeing someone-- way smarter than him. This wasn’t for joy or boredom. He was studying to impress. “It’s college prep, sir.”
“The crossword?” The chief evened his stare. “This your old man’s suggestion?” Of all the things Steve’s father was telling him to do with himself, he  wished  some of it was simply pecking at a crossword over a twelve hour shift.  Fucking off  and  being a better piece of shit son  just wasn’t feasible to accomplish in one summer.
“He swears by it.”
“Okay, well. Uh, moving on from that,” Hopper grabbed his hat from the coat rack. The topic of Steve’s father always made Hopper stiffen up; it was definitely the main reason Hopper gave Steve his job at the station, but it still created more questions. Steve knew Hopper and his father went to high school together, but he never asked his father about those years-- beyond his baseball glory stories. “I’ve got plans tonight and I need to head out early. Can you handle things on your own for a while. At least until the night shift comes in?”
“I’ll be fine.” Steve made sure not to acknowledge the crossword on his desk as he nodded. He was really good at his job, he was. He was also just, unfortunately, still a pretty shitty boyfriend and needed all the vocab help he could get. “What’s the pressing story?”
“I have dinner.” Hopper was already trying to walk out the door. “So  don’t  call me. For the love of God.”
“Oh, don’t worry, Chief. I--” Steve was sure it was the cool July wind that slammed the door on the last half of his sentence. Not Hopper. “won’t... Have a good time, I guess.”
The police station was empty: it was another boring and wonderfully quiet Monday in Hawkins. There’d been some calls to break up disturbances at city hall in the past few days, but somehow everyone just seemed to agree that Mondays-- the longest shift of Steve's whole week-- was the day everyone went about their quietest day.
There were a few officers milling in and out of the back lounge and front door, casting a quick glance to Steve as he muttered and threatened fourteen down and six across. Nancy had been helping close the gaps of his post-high school education-- without knowing just what for-- but had been picking up most hours at the Post to try and elbow her way into their good graces; it put his tutoring on hold. So here he was, groaning at some clues about classical artists he’d never heard of.
There were other reasons Steve was sure the other officers thought he was odd-- things he was  sure  his father had passed along in spitting rants-- but Steve didn’t mind. No one said anything to his face.
“Hey Flo! Is, uh, is Steve here?” The question was asked with the answer already in mind.
Steve sat up in his chair, twisting around to see down the hall to the back entrance to the station. There weren’t many parking spots to fill, but he knew a certain someone who preferred it to street parking.
“Jonathan?”
“Oh, I hear him. Thanks-- hey!” Jonathan hurried out from the hall, his camera bumping against his stomach and bag slapping against his leg in the same rhythm. He’d gotten a new haircut recently: semi-wonky bangs and a closer cut in the back. All thanks to Steve’s peer pressure and Mrs. Byers’s kitchen shears.
“What are you doing here?”
“Sorry to stop by your work like this--” he lowered his voice as he stopped at the corner of Steve’s desk. “I know we said we wouldn’t do that, but we got an extra muffin in the lunch order and I know you’re always starving after a Monday shift so.” Jonathan produced a folded brown paper bag from his satchel. “Here.”
“Oh, thanks.” Steve wanted to say so much more, but had to settle. No more. None of what they’d decided they wouldn’t say. Not until the summer had ended. They wanted to see if they lasted longer than the convenience of loose summer schedules.
“Won’t I see you, uh, later, though?” At eight, when Steve got sent home he always drove straight to Jonathan’s. Jonathan started late on Tuesdays and Steve had off; they had the time to waste. “Or is this your way of telling me to stay home?”
“No! No we’re still... hanging out.” Jonathan had gotten really good at cooking and treated Steve to weekly dinner. It was a nice gesture at first, but Steve started growing fond of the company. They both did around mid-June. “But, I think Mike’s going to be over so. Be  cool , alright? Keep it cool.”
“Cool, got it.” Steve leaned back in his chair. He moved his papers to leave a corner of his desk for Jonathan to sit on. No one was in the main office; it was a harmless invitation.
“I have to get going...” It sounded like an excuse, a dive for safety. “And I’m sure you have, um,  puzzles  to do?” Jonathan pretended not to be endeared. He tried, he really did. He  failed , but Steve pretended he didn’t notice.
“Don’t want to sit and help me figure out the title of Mozart’s last opera?” He patted the desk, daring to be more direct.
“I really have to go.” Jonathan was genuine, looking at his watch. “The Post only let me out early today because I have to go pick up Will from his doctor’s appointment.”
“Wait.” Steve put the cap back on his pen. “Isn’t Will’s therapy on Wednesday?”
“Yeah, but with Mom’s schedule and the store being all weird-- we had to move it to today. And you know we typically have a family night after-- so he feels okay, you know-- but we  can’t  . So,  that’s why Mike’s coming over. Hopefully they’ll be idiots and tire Will out and he’ll sleep okay.” Tension rose in Jonathan’s voice quickly, explaining his day as if going over a laundry list; never rehearsing it but having it memorized.
“I can stay home if you need time, Jonathan.”
“No, really. I want you to come over.” Jonathan sighed and placed his hand on the emptied spot on Steve’s desk. “Besides, you can’t break tradition after a little over  one month , then it was just a weird habit.”
Steve Harrington did not consider his summer fling a w  eird habit . If anything, it was the most sensical thing he’d done in a very long time. Even after getting rejected from all his colleges, and never hearing the end of his father’s lectures, 1985 had been very kind to him. And that was mostly due to Jonathan’s inherent nature to be the same.
“I’ll see you after eight.” Steve smiled and reached for his hand-- but averted to grab a piece of memo paper by the phone.
“I’m sorry to leave in a rush.” Jonathan hitched his bag up, checking his watch again. “I just, I really need to get going.”
“Don’t worry. The muffin is  more  than enough.” Steve said. “And seeing you wasn’t too bad either.”
“Slow day, huh?” Jonathan said. The corner of his mouth quirked with a flattered, embarrassed smile. Steve tried to act nonchalant, like he wasn’t so goddamn relieved to see a familiar and happy face. Especially  his  familiar and happy face. “Well, good thing I have another surprise for you.”
“You can barely fit your camera in that bag, what could you possibly-- hey!” Steve missed grabbing Jonathan’s arm as he walked away, heading for the front door. “Where are you going?” Jonathan kept walking, checking his watch the whole way. “Hello?”
“Delivered right on time.” Jonathan pushed the front door open to the station-- but was nearly knocked over as a green  dash  barreled through it.
"Steve! Steve! Steve!” The dash was suddenly grabbing him by the shoulders. “You got the job!”
“Henderson! Oh my god! You’re back!” In an unlikely impulse, Steve grabbed Dustin in a hug, taking advantage of the change of height. “Holy shit, I nearly forgot! First of the month!”
“See you, Steve.” Jonathan walked across the room to the back entrance again. His hand braced the back of Steve’s chair, brushing across his shoulders.
“O-Okay! Yeah, see you!” Steve sputtered, losing his reminded  cool  in an instant. “Bye.”
Dustin pulled away slowly. “What was that?” It looked like  everyone  was too smart for Steve.
“Nothing. He brought me a surprise lunch-- which was an  obvious decoy to the main event! You! How are you, buddy? How was camp?”
“Oh, it was fantastic. Steve, I  have  to show you all my inventions! Camp was the  best  four weeks  of  my  life .” Dustin hopped up onto the corner of his desk. His heels tapped against the empty metal drawers. He was jittery, nearly uncontainable, but still so composed-- if only to be focused all on Steve.
Steve held his hands out, letting him start. “Lay it on me, Henderson! I want to hear everything. I missed you like crazy.”
“Well, first, obviously. I have to tell you about my girlfriend--”
“Whoa! Whoa!  Girlfriend  ? That fast?” Steve hadn’t been expecting any of his dating advice to work. It had been coming from such a poor and confused part of himself, Steve figured it was destined to fail. Apparently, it was just  Steve  that was-- when flirting with women at least. “Damn, there’s something in you after all!”
“She’s  super  smart, Steve. I’ve never met any girl like her. She’s a genius and she’s so pretty. God, I miss her already-- and I  just  saw her.”
Steve looked over his shoulder. He knew the feeling. “That’s great, man. I mean, I’m super happy for you. Like, that’s  crazy . That’s freaking awesome.”
“So what about you? How are the ladies? I mean, you work for the  Chief  now. All the ladies you could need and more, am I right?”
Steve used to be really good at this part of the lie, but with Dustin it felt cheap. He didn’t need to lie to him, but that was the deal; no matter how much that person was Steve’s best and most beloved friend, their secret was a dead-bolt, vaulted secret.
“Eh, not too great. Only girl my own age I see-- besides Nancy, really-- is the night-shift girl, Robin. But she’s not really-- we’re just friends. She’s alright. Leaves me weird drawings in the memo pad.”
“Ooo, she sounds cool.” Dustin raised his eyebrows. “Do you know her from school?”
“Yeah, we didn’t really run in the same crowds but-- it’s not like that, man. It’s really not.” Steve started unwrapping his lunch. “It’s so not like that with Robin.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means I’m not...  looking  at the moment.”
Steve had originally decided to not go looking for trouble. After he and Nancy split in the beginning of his senior year, he didn’t start looking for an immediate replacement. The illusion of thinking he was in love with Nancy-- capable of being in love with Nancy-- was a hard thing to have come crumbling down. Steve needed time to get his own bearings, to put his feet firmly on the ground, and have them lifted off when his father grabbed him by the lapels and--
Steve hadn’t gone looking for trouble. Hadn’t gone looking for love either. But somehow, both seemed to find him.
Jonathan was late. He usually wasn’t but Will was trying not to be worried. It was a different day than usual and he knew how awful Jonathan’s boss and co-workers were. Will tried not to be worried-- he wasn't. It was just that he had spent an hour talking about the night his father left their family; standing outside the doctor’s office was a bit nerve-wracking. It felt too familiar, even with all the talking and note-scribbling.
Finally, Jonathan’s car pulled into the lot. He was speeding, as much as his car  could  speed: he knew he was late, which made Will feel a little bit better. No one had forgotten him. It was just traffic or his bosses or maybe just hitting all the red lights. As Jonathan stopped in front of the curb and waved Will in, Will could see he was jittery-- he was  upset  that he was late. Will felt bad for counting the minutes.
Not that he did it out of impatience or anything. Will just formed the habit after getting his new watch. It matched Mike’s. Completely on accident, of course.
“Hey, buddy! Sorry I’m late. I was-- I had to run an errand really fast. How long were you waiting.” He moved his bag and threw it onto the backseat. Will would’ve held it on his lap.
“I wasn’t keeping track.” Will said, climbing into the passenger seat. Will wanted to ask if his bag had Jonathan’s camera in it. If everything was okay. He didn’t. It seemed like Jonathan had been in his therapy with Will, just as shaken up. “It’s okay. Thanks for getting me.”
Jonathan waited until Will put on his seat belt. “Of course. We’re always here to pick you up. Therapy is important; you have to go.”
Will laughed before he could stop himself. “You sound like Mom.”  Why?
“Because she’s right.” Therapy was still kind of weird to Will-- since  no one else  in his grade had to do it-- but he humored his family. It was helping, if he had to admit it. But it was still embarrassing sometimes.
His therapist, Dr. Bright--  Rose Marie, as she insisted on being called-- was a send-out from the Lab, but disguised within a private practice just outside of town. She was able to listen to Will talk about what he saw and felt during his time with the Mind Flayer without trying to commit him. Almost nothing was off limits. Almost nothing.
Will checked his watch again.
“Are you excited to see Mike tonight?” The question was pointed, but Will wasn’t sure why it made him nervous. “I mean, I feel like I haven’t seen him in a bit.”
“Oh, yeah. He’s always with El.”
Will was sure they  weren’t  dating. El was just on a year-long stint of self-discovery and, besides Max, Mike was the person she trusted the most to help make as many helpful mistakes as possible. He bought her books to read and new music to try. It was really sweet, seeing Mike take such big strides toward helping their friend. But there was also a part of Will that felt dejected:  his  sort of help had to be prescribed and couldn’t be replaced with a warm laugh from one Mike Wheeler.
Will was sick while his friends were growing.
“Is there something wrong?” Jonathan used to ask the question like Will was one trembling lip away from crying-- but this time, he asked it like Will had his hand on the door, seconds from jumping out. “Will, are you okay?”
“Yeah.” Will nodded. “I’m fine. Just-- I talked a lot today and I’m tired.”
“Do you want to cancel with Mike--”
“No.” Will had been looking forward to having time with Mike--  just  Mike-- for a whole week. He wanted to sit on his floor with his best friend and be a kid again. Just for the night-- maybe draw some of Mike’s old campaigns or sketch out an idea for his own. He just wanted to remember something good about the past four years. After his hour with Dr. Bright, it all felt painful. Like his childhood naivety had been broken and every conversation he overheard in his house dripped with venom and disdain.
Will didn’t like picturing his house that way. It was a place that loved and raised him, a place he felt safe. He didn’t like thinking the conversations he heard being screamed through the walls were trapped in the drywall.
His arms felt heavy and his chest felt like it was made of metal-- he kept tasting it in his mouth. Will leaned back against the seat and reached for the radio. Jonathan turned it down before Will had even changed the station.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, I just want to see Mike.” Will said, his mouth too honest and his mind shrouded in guilt. “I just want to see my friend.”
“Okay. Okay.” Jonathan nodded somewhat somberly. “I understand. Let’s go pick him up. He’s at his house right? Not El’s-- o-or The Sinclair’s or anything?”
“No. He’s at his.” Will crossed his arms and tried to find the loose string-- the thing that could uncoil Jonathan’s still-tightening anxiety. “Are you still dating Nancy?”
Jonathan turned to look at Will, nearly crashing the car. That was the wrong string. “What?”
“Nancy? Are you still dating her?”
“I was never dating Nancy.” Jonathan laughed, shaking his head. “I’m not dating Mike’s sister, don’t worry.” The clarification was strange and felt off-topic. Like Jonathan was trying to talk about something else.
“I thought you were. You guys hung out a lot during school.” Will heard her voice through the walls too. Always gentle, never yelling. Except when she was losing at playing cards. Then she shouted.
“She was helping me pass chemistry. That’s all.” Jonathan turned the radio up a little. Will checked his watch. “And then she helped me apply to the Post internship-- she’s great at writing papers, did you know that? A real wordsmith. Is Mike a writer too?”
He was, he  really  was. Grammatically, Will ran out of red pens trying to help, but creatively? Will envied Mike’s ability. “I don’t know. We don’t really talk about that kind of stuff like you two do… Since you two are dating.”
“We’re  not .” Jonathan laughed. Will took advantage of an upcoming stop sign to lean forward and look at his brother’s crimson face. “We’re not, Will, okay? We’re really not. I’d tell you.”
“You’d tell me?”
“Of course! I’d tell you if I… I had a girlfriend. Which I don’t!” He stayed at the stop sign for a bit too long. “Do you?”
There was an option to play dumb, to make Jonathan ask more directly:  do you have a girlfriend, Will ? but it sounded far more painful than being honest, than being as lonely as he was.
“No. I don’t.”
“And you’d tell me. If you were dating someone?” Jonathan looked at Will, hopeful but scarcely so. “You’ll tell me if anything big happens in your life?”
“Yeah.” There wouldn’t be anything happening at all that summer, that was for  damn sure . “Absolutely.”
Steve had about seventy percent of his puzzle done-- fifty of which was because Dustin was an unstoppable genius with no tolerance for Steve’s careful pace. It was just about quarter past seven, and Steve’s back was getting sore from sitting in his chair all day. He only liked sitting when it was in his car, on his way to the Byers's House, careful, of course, to obey all traffic laws.
Steve was packing his crosswords and pens up in the top drawer of his desk when something clattered the back door open. Steve grabbed a pen and whipped around in his seat, as if to wield it like a weapon.
“Hello? Who’s there?”
“Hey dingus.” Luckily, Steve couldn’t even see Robin yet-- or rather, she couldn’t see him or his emphasized eye roll. She could hear him groan though. “Hey, shut up and quit whining. I’m sending you home early.”
Her head popped out from the hallway. Robin’s ponytail was high on her head, the hair flopping over and getting caught in her stringy bangs. She flung her backpack out from behind her and tossed it toward Steve. She wasn’t in her uniform yet, only wearing the buttoned up shirt-- unbuttoned and showing her torn and dyed shirt underneath. She was wearing jogging shorts, her knees torn up and covered with Band-Aids. They reminded Steve of the ones taped to his face after getting a plate smashed into his forehead. Deceivingly cheerful.
“What are you doing here early?” Steve stood and followed her, holding her backpack awkwardly in his hands. “You’re  never  early.” Eight on the dot. Every time.
“I figure you want to get out of here tonight.” She didn’t even stop to look at Steve as they walked into the back room. “Probably want to see your boyfriend.”
Her words weren’t sharp, but Steve still recoiled. He let his arms, and her bag, hang by his sides.
“Who? Jonathan?” The only way Jonathan and Robin had ever met was in the hallways of Hawkins High. She definitely never saw them interact at the station-- or on any of their nights together: they were always indoors. “He’s  not my boyfriend.”
“First off, I didn't even say a name." Shit. "Second, he came in the other day looking for you.” Robin started buttoning her shirt up, fixing the collar as she finally turned to see Steve. “He was really upset-- didn’t even know what time it was to know you weren’t working.”
“Upset?” Technically, it wasn’t Steve’s problem. It was the deal; they didn’t  have  to care about each other’s lives. It was just summer. It was just like any other summer.
“Yeah. Crying, sniffling, snot-- the whole nine, man.” Robin sounded extremely sympathetic despite beginning to change her pants. Steve whipped around, covering his face. “You should go see him. Make sure he’s okay. Be a good boyfriend... shithead.”
“He’s  not--”
“Steve, I’m the last person you should be arguing with.” Robin laughed-- and it was only momentarily threatening. Until, of course, Steve realized what she meant.
Like all good secrets kept at Hawkins PD, Steve kept his mouth shut and nodded even if she wasn’t looking.
“Yes, sir--ma'am-- Robin.”
“So, are you going to go or what, dingus?” She tapped him on the shoulder. “Get out of here-- and tell me all about it Wednesday.”
Steve blinked at her, holding out her bag. As if it was enough thanks to give her back her own property. “Are we… friends, or something?”
“No, of course not.” She winked, slapping his arm. “Just looking out for one of my own.”
After picking Mike up from his house, they drove home in uncharacteristic chatter. Jonathan was the only one speaking, humming along to the radio. Will was exhausted beyond performative small talk; the type that had to be done between two best friends when a third party was present. Mike was great at just sitting with Will in silence, but Jonathan didn’t know that. Instead, the three of them passed around quiet jokes and laughter, answering questions about their friends for Jonathan’s upkeep of information.
Once they got in the house, Jonathan let them wander off into Will’s room as he started pulling pots out of the kitchen cabinets. He wouldn’t bother or pester them about any summer work, either. They would be left alone in their own coupled silence.
Mike was sitting cross-legged on Will’s floor, twisting one of Will's crayons between his fingers. Will needed new ones but he felt funny asking for them as a near-freshman in high school. He liked the glide of wax on paper compared to the scrape of colored pencils. Well, that and the fact he ruined half of his crayons the year prior making a full map of Hawkins in a fugue state and only had two crayons able to be used normally.
“You had doctor stuff today, right?”
Will was digging under his bed for his emptier sketch book. “Yeah. Therapy.  Doctor  doctor stuff was two weeks ago.”
“How was it?” Mike let his hand still and rest in his lap. “Like, what do you do in therapy? Just start talking?”
“Yeah, but it’s more than that. You have to think about stuff too. Doctors ask you questions, sometimes.” Will pulled back and drug his old drawing supplies along the carpet. He sat back on his heels and was able to see Mike over the top of the bed. He didn’t know Will was looking. “You have to have answers.”
“What do they ask about?” Mike kept looking at his hands, unaware of Will. “Upside down stuff?”
“Sometimes.” Will shuffled back around to Mike's side of the bed. He could feel the tiniest bit of rug burn starting. “She asked me about my dad today.”
Mike looked up, almost immediately. “Can she do that?”
“Why can’t she?” Will popped the lid on the retired Tupperware, now his art bin. “I talked about it.”
“I thought you didn’t like to.” Will had never said those words which meant Mike had gathered it from just observing him. “Did you… like talking about it?”
“Not really.” Will laughed. He found a few extra crayons, but of all the wrong colors. “She had this big speech afterward about learned helplessness that I… really didn’t like.” Will tried to keep laughing.
Mike put the crayon back in the bin. “Are you okay, Will?”
“Yeah. It’s just… the same old stuff.” Will shrugged. “Sometimes it just bothers me more than other days.”
Mike bit the inside of his cheek, picking at his words carefully. “You never talk about your dad, Will.”
“Why would I?”
“Because it bothers you. You can talk about anything you want-- I… I would listen.”
“You don’t have to listen to it just because it happened to me, you know. My therapist says you don’t have to experience things with me for them to be real.”
“But I want to know.” Mike looked insulted, almost crushed and collapsed as he sat back on his hands. “That’s your dad,” he said. “And you’re my friend.”
They sat in silence for a while. Mike went back to studying a new crayon, picking at the wrapper. Will felt something forming in his throat. A bubble that was hot, thick and sticky. Not vomit, but not impending tears either.
“I don’t get why he left.” Will said. “I don’t know what happened to our family.”
“Nothing happened. Maybe he just… wasn’t good at being your dad anymore.”
“But then why? What did I do?” Will didn’t want to ask Mike, make him feel responsible for answering, but Will was desperate to ask the universe again.
“Nothing.” Mike said. “I just think he…”
“He what? My dad got tired of me? Didn’t want to raise me?”
“Maybe he actually learned how to take a hint and knew he wasn’t good enough for you and Jonathan-- or your mom.” Mike wanted to be hopeful, to be positive, so badly. He ached, his smile tight and weak. He didn't have the answers, and who was Will to put him in the position to come up with them.
“So he gave up.” Will said.
“That’s not what I meant--”
“I know. I know… That’s just how it feels.” Will shrugged. He smiled at Mike, accepting his help and his warmth. It hurt knowing that Mike was wrong, but still. Will could always pretend a little longer. Anything for Mike.
“Hey! You monsters hungry?” Steve clapped his hands together before gently tapping the door. “Jonathan’s got dinner on the table.”
The door was open. Steve didn’t have to knock. He wanted to, just to prove he wasn’t  too  comfortable, but he also knew Mike was over. And knocking would announce his entrance rather than letting it just be something that just  was  . Rather than being  cool .
Awkwardly and with a lot of weird, throat-clearing fanfare, Steve opened the Byers’s front door and poked his head inside. Jonathan called him in from the kitchen without even needing to say hello, or being surprised by his walking in:  In here, Steve! Dinner’s almost done .
Steve walked through the living room carefully, as if he’d disturb it. There was a tape playing softly-- some band Steve’s never heard of, but didn’t hate. He’d grown to like the way that every song played in the Byers house was always moody and melancholy. The music was always the opposite of how he felt stepping into the kitchen.
Jonathan was at the stove, stirring a pot of something that smelled delicious. He had what looked to be tomato sauce stains on the front of his shirt-- where he wrapped his hand up to open the sauce jar. Steve was able to hide his smile as he shouldered off his uniform jacket and toed off his shoes, claiming a chair at the kitchen table.
“How was work?” Jonathan didn’t stop stirring. He moved like the stove was turned all the way up and he was afraid of burning the food. He spoke that way too.
“It was fine. Not a whole lot.” Steve didn’t want to have anything seem bigger than whatever upset Jonathan-- and seemed to still be upsetting him now. “How was your day?”
“Fine. Will and Mike are in the other room.” He was checking things off his list. Steve stepped up to Jonathan and stood even with him at the stove. He was making one-pot pasta. It really did smell fantastic. Steve was so hungry, even after his lunch.
“How was… the other things in your day? Develop any good pictures?” Steve covered how stupid he sounded by placing his hand on Jonathan’s lower back.
Jonathan stopped stirring and looked at him. Steve tried to keep cool, tried not to show his motives-- his attempt to calm something he couldn’t believe he’d missed spinning out of control, even if he didn’t know what it was. “Nancy walked into the dark room today-- she’s actually the one who gave me the muffin-- and she exposed the photos to light too early. So no, actually.”
Steve really was a bad boyfriend. Even when he wasn’t one yet-- or at all.
“Okay… how was. Everything else?”
“You don’t have to ask about my day, Steve. It’s okay.” Jonathan sighed and spoke evenly. “I’m just a little tired. Really. We don’t have to do the whole…  thing .”
The whole thing where Steve was explicit about how much he really cared about Jonathan and admitted he was sincerely and terrifyingly in love with Jonathan.
“I was asking because I was curious. Not out of obligation.” Steve clarified. His hand slid to rest on Jonathan’s hip. He moved closer, lips aiming to place a commitment-less kiss on his cheek.
“Steve! I said to keep it  cool .” Jonathan ducked back, placing a hand on Steve’s chest. “I don’t want Will to see us.”
“Your brother?” Steve was surprised; of all people Jonathan explicitly wanted to hide from Will seemed kind and forgiving-- not that there was anything  to  forgive, but it was something Steve often checked for. Steve was sure that one of Dustin’s friends would be… like Steve. Or like Jonathan-- maybe. All of them seemed prepared to deal with any of their friends suddenly being different. Far more prepared than Steve ever was.
“Yes. My brother.” Jonathan snapped, banging the spoon against the edge of the pot. “I don’t want him to learn I’m not dating Nancy but  instead  seeing her ex-boyfriend in the same day.” he whispered.
“Wait, what? He thinks you’re with Nancy?” Steve wasn’t sure where they went wrong. They were trying to  obscure  the truth, not lead everyone to a different reality. “D-Do you think Mike does too?”
“I don’t know! I didn’t want to ask and seem weird.” Jonathan sighed again. He sounded tense again. “I told Will I’d tell him if I was seeing anyone… And he promised me the same.”
Steve knew not to press the obvious question-- well   are  you seeing someone, Jonathan?  -- but also didn’t want to touch the obvious implication that Will  needed  to share a secret with Jonathan. Instead, he placed his hands into his pockets and turned to lean against the counter.
“Dinner smells really good, Byers.” There was another name that began with “B” that Steve wasn’t allowed to use, but always wanted to. Byers Byers Byers. Baby baby baby. “Thank you, again, for cooking for me-- for us.”
“You think I’m going to let you starve?” His stirring slowed; the stove cooled down. He nudged Steve’s arm with the spoon. “You coming home late and trying to cook? You mean half-drinking a beer and falling asleep face down on your bed in your uniform, half unbuttoned.”
“You picture that often, Byers?” Steve lifted an eyebrow. “Hm?”
“Don’t flatter yourself.” Jonathan’s lips quirked into a smile again. “But, if you’d like a beer, I think there’s one in the fridge. No one in the house is going to touch it.”
“I can go ask Will if he wants it.”
“Shut up-- do you want it or not?”
“No.” Steve didn’t like drinking when they were together. He’d never really heard the full story about where Mr. Byers went, but he had a father of his own to make those blank spaces fill pretty fast. “But thanks. Don’t want the habit of needing a beer to forget how boring my job is.”
“I thought you liked your job?” Jonathan took a piece of pasta out of the pot and held it out for Steve to test.
He chewed and answered. “I do! It’s nice to have normal hours-- and I’m happy to help have replacements as Flo gets ready to retire but… I don’t know. Sometimes it feels  boring .”
“Would you rather be chasing down a four-legged monster without a face?” Jonathan let out a bubble of genuine laughter, playfully glaring at Steve.
“Frankly, yes! At least we’d all have something to do. I feel like I don’t see everyone anymore.”
“Then throw a party. Don’t wish for anything bad to happen.” Jonathan said firmly. “Let the record show my brother is a very strange magnet for all this… weird shit.”
“You’re right, I’m sorry.” Steve said solemnly. He put his hand on Jonathan’s forearm. “I wish we were all safely doing something exciting. It felt nice to be needed, even if no one knew it was us.”
Jonathan put the spoon down on the counter and pivoted to be looking only at Steve. There was something resting just on the tip of his tongue, just under the surface of their conversation. It would’ve been a digression-- Steve could tell by Jonathan’s tense and furrowed brow-- but he would’ve listened.
“Jonathan?” Steve squeezed his arm, lifting his eyebrows. “What is it?”
“I--” He clenched his jaw, trying to swallow his words. “I think--” Steve knew there was no end to Jonathan’s sentence; merely starting it meant there was trust between them. A careful admission through omission. Steve knew Jonathan was looking at his shoes and wouldn’t be seen as he took in the secret flinches of Jonathan’s face. The crinkle by his left eye, the twitch of his mouth, double blinking--
They both jumped apart as the phone started ringing, practically shaking on the wall. Jonathan stepped away from Steve and left everything unsaid. Again.
Jonathan tucked the phone between his ear and shoulder as he turned to lean against the wall.
“Hello? This is--” His face changed sharply, his eyebrows furrowing. “I told you to stop bothering us. You’re lucky she’s not here to pick up the phone-- I don’t  care !” Jonathan cleared his throat and looked at Steve in a flash of uncertainty and anxiety. “I have the police here right now and if you don’t stop calling me I will send them to your house-- it’s not a threat if you’re the one bothering us. Stop. Calling.” He slammed the phone down and braced his weight against the wall with his other hand.
“Am I considered ‘the police’ now?” Steve said lightly. It was his way of letting Jonathan know he was listening, but not asking direct questions. “I’m not even allowed to have a badge.”
“It counts.” Jonathan said, letting his arms fall down by his sides. Steve stepped over and kept stirring dinner.
“Who was that?”
“No one. Can you go get the boys in the other room? Dinner’s ready.” Jonathan pushed Steve aside to hunch over the stove again.
“Sure.” Steve nodded, knowing he wasn’t seen. “Hey! You monsters hungry? Jonathan’s got dinner on the table.”
Dinner felt weird.
Will couldn’t help but feel like he and Mike had gotten into a fight. Talking about his dad made anything feel sticky, feel like it was violent or volatile. A second from snapping or tearing off, bouncing around the walls and echoing in Will's body. A small conversation between friends-- actually a little  understanding  between  best  friends-- felt like it had been a screaming match, all because it was cut off. There was no apology from Will. He didn't have the chance to tie it all up with an  I’m sorry, I’m really sorry, forget I said anything.
His plea sat heavy on his tongue as he talked to Steve-- who had arrived without notice-- and let Mike make him laugh so hard he nearly shot water out his nose. Will let it all happen under the tremor, the ache, of an apology. And maybe, if he was the best brother and friend he should’ve been, no problems or therapy, it would be enough of an apology.
He wasn't hungry and only ate half his serving of pasta, even though it was usually his favorite of Jonathan's recipes. He did apologize for that though, and it felt right to say aloud. Even if it was misdirected and no one heard it.
I'm sorry. I'm sorry I'm so so sorry. Please come back--
Mike wasn’t tired, Will knew, but he still wanted to go to bed right after their horror movie ended. It was clear Mike hadn't been paying attention to the movie; the entire plot was that dreams were a new horror-scape for monsters to get teenagers. It wasn't too scary to Will; it just felt familiar. The villain looked different, more human, but Will knew what it felt like to dream while wide awake. To watch and be unable to do anything but scratch at the surface--
Convincing Will to get ready for bed, Mike said they’d have all day in the morning. He said that maybe he could convince his mom to let him stay over again if they don’t get all their fun in. Will knew Mike's mom probably would, if only because she felt bad for Will. But he would take the pity. A sleepover wasn't the worst thing to get from pity.
Will could still hear Mike fidgeting in his sleeping bag. He was rubbing his feet together like a cricket and twisting his wristwatch. The plastic scratched the sheer material of his sleeping bag rhythmically: back and forth. back and forth. backandforthbackandforth. It was like Mike was counting the ticks of his silent digital watch. Will began to play with his own watch, keeping it on in bed only because he'd noticed Mike hadn't removed it when they were brushing their teeth that night; apparently the watch was too good to part with.
Time though, was something Will wished he could separate himself from. He could hear the seconds scraping by now. Every moment he kept his friend awake and bored because Will was too weak or (rather and) too  everything  to stay up late again.
Therapy hadn’t even been that bad. Not really. Maybe it could be exhausting but it didn’t count because Will sat in the same spot for an hour. It wasn’t real work. It shouldn’t have counted. Will should’ve been able to hang out with his friend until sunrise, getting in trouble with his mom for being up so late. He should’ve still been a stupid, carefree kid, not a by-gone troubled teenager.
Maybe his dad had seen that from the beginning. Will's dad was always gambling, betting on baseball games he had these incredible "feelings" on. Sometimes he was wrong, but when he was right it was an amazing prediction; having the foresight no one else had. And maybe that was what it was, leaving them when he did. Maybe he saw Will wouldn’t be the second son he wanted after all. Maybe he knew of all the damage that would be done to him, the damage he would cause. Probably saw it from miles-- years-- away. And he left without a single warning to any of it.
What if his father had known? Could've known where he was when he came back into town two years ago? Not gone forever just in the lights. Just out of reach, just through the wall, Dad. What if he had known, been able to see, able to know, but wanted to leave Will Down there being possessed and enveloped and consumed and--
Will felt a chill scurry down his back. The feeling almost had legs. Too many. He felt ice cold, his body going blank-- not numb, but  blank -- for a second. He couldn’t feel his fingers, but could still feel every inch of his body, suddenly pulsing and seizing.
"Will?" Mike asked, sitting up. He gripped the end of the bed and pulled his face closer to Will's. He squinted in the darkness, feeling for Will’s hand. Will couldn’t answer, his jaw tense and breath rattling out of him. "Will, what’s wrong?"
After a (thankfully) non-awkward dinner, Steve and Jonathan washed all the dishes and let the boys watch whatever movie they wanted. Steve didn’t pay attention to what tape he put in the VRC. He was too busy thinking about the hands hidden in the warm soapy water in the kitchen sink. Neither Mike nor Will seemed too bothered by the  disgusting  amount of blood or the scary blade man on the TV. He felt no regret letting them go to bed right after the credits rolled. Jonathan had looked exhausted after putting the last dish away, and dozed off during the climax of the movie-- even slept through the high-pitched screaming.
They waited for the sound of Will’s door closing over before they got into bed.
Jonathan flopped onto his back, a pillow resting between his chest and crossed arms. Steve laid on his side, bracing his weight on his elbow. He poked at Jonathan's furrowed eyebrow lightly.
"What's the problem, Byers?"
"Nothing."
"You are not a really great liar, you do know that right?" That and Steve could still hear Robin's blasé recounting of Jonathan's distress.  Yeah. Crying, sniffling, snot-- the whole nine, man.
Jonathan sighed and turned to look at Steve. He hated being called out. "It's about Will."
"What's wrong with Will? He seemed alright at dinner."
"Yeah, but," Another sigh. "Steve, I think my brother’s gay."
Steve's first response was swallowed and he nodded. "Okay. Okay. And, um, what's the issue with that?" He adjusted himself on the bed, hoping there was more subtlety in that.
"I can't talk to him about it. I mean," Jonathan smiled and reached to touch his face. "This is a very different thing than being fourteen and confused."
"Who says he's confused?"
"I don't mean with himself-- the rest of the world is so confusing, Steve. You see the news... I can't talk to him. I didn't grow up like that. And being with you is... Different. We dated girls before. Will... I don't know. I think he knows already."
"You think he's got feelings for--"
"Oh absolutely." Jonathan nodded, closing his eyes. "Oh, I'm so glad it's not just me who sees it."
"Hopefully Wheeler does too."
"Hey, keep your voice down, he's only a few rooms over ."
"Sorry. Sorry. Me and my big mouth " Steve rested his head on Jonathan's shoulder. "Shut me up, maybe."
"Not until my mom gets back." Jonathan said, rolling up onto his side too. "If I catch her when she comes in the door, she won't come into my room to say good night. I can't have you distracting me until then."
"Your mom is on a date. She's an adult and so are you." Steve kissed Jonathan's shoulder. "You are a working man who just finished a long day at work-- I think you can cuddle up with your boyf--" Steve choked on his own stupidity, feeling his face go red and charisma die on impact. "With me."
"I will. Once my mom is back." Jonathan kissed Steve, as if a parting promise. Only to backtrack on his words immediately. He tucked Steve’s hair back behind his ear, his hands trying not to hold his face. “No--  no . Steve, not until my mom gets back.”
“I can keep an ear out--” As Steve spoke, the power in his bedside lamp dimmed. The power hummed quietly before flickering back up. Jonathan tensed and pushed himself up in bed.
“Did you see that?”
“Yeah, it was just the light, Byers. It’s windy out tonight, maybe a tree brushed a powerline.” Steve pushed Jonathan back down to his pillow-- and back into his own skin again. “It’s  nothing  . What if I turn out the light? Your mom won’t even  see  us in here.”
“No. No, I have to wait for her.”
“What if she doesn’t come back?”
“What!” Jonathan jerked upright again.
“I  meant  what if she’s at Hopper’s or something?” Steve shrugged. “She’s an adult.”
“Steve, that’s my  mom .” Jonathan hissed, swatting at the hand resting on his shoulder.
“I  meant  because she drove there on her own. If she had some wine, maybe she stayed somewhere and is being a smart, responsible parent.” Steve soothed. “Something you don’t have to be right now. You’re not Will’s parent and you aren’t your own. Lay down, will you?”
Jonathan was reluctant, but let Steve ease him back down again. He pulled the pillow tighter to his chest and sighed, his crossed arms sinking deeper. Steve laid down beside him, nose gently touching the end of his shoulder. As he breathed, his short exhales tickled Jonathan’s skin and got him giggling. It was Steve’s secret trick; something that always worked because Jonathan didn’t know it was a pattern-- didn’t know he was ticklish.
“Sorry I was weird today.” Jonathan said suddenly. He wasn’t even grinning.
“What?” They didn’t apologize. There was no need. “You’re worried about stuff-- it’s okay.”
“No, I like our dinners. And I was so uptight. I don’t know. I’m sorry.”
“Okay.” Steve didn’t know what to do with the sentiment. “Apology accepted?”
Jonathan sighed again, blowing it out slowly between his pressed lips. “Lonnie called today.”
“L- your  dad ? Is that who was on the phone?” Steve wasn’t sure what came over him-- or his body-- as he placed an arm over Jonathan’s waist and pulled them together. There was something unspokenly intimate talking about abusive fathers while being nearly sutured together in bed, but Steve pretended he was just having problems hearing Jonathan correctly.
“Yeah.” Jonathan turned, his nose brushing Steve’s. “Said he wants custody of Will. He doesn’t trust Mom, he said.”
“How is he-- He can’t do that.”
“He’s going to try. I don't know where it came from. He still thinks he can win a case because the news says Will just  disappeared into the woods . Like he ran away from us or something.”
“Everyone knows that’s not true.”
“A court might not.” Jonathan sighed, ducking his head down. Steve resisted lifting his chin to hook it over Jonathan’s head, nestling him into his neck. He laid still, listening to his breathing and the gentle creaking of the house--
Jonathan's door was thrown open, both men sitting up quickly, ready to defend themselves and their actions. It was Mike, in his pajamas with his hair sticking out in wild curls. Will stood just behind him in the hallway looking far more awake. Stilted and untousled.
"Mike?"
"Jonathan, quick!"
"What is it?" Jonathan swung his legs around and motioned both boys to come in. "Will?" Mike pushed him into the center of the door frame, although he remained in the hallway, in the light. Will’s hand grabbed at the back of his neck. His face was blank and his eyes were distant.
"Something's wrong." Will said slowly, blinking to focus. "I feel him."
"Feel who?" Jonathan kneeled in front of Will, holding his shoulders. "Feel who, Will?"
"Dad."

"I hate it here,” Jack says from his carseat, with far more petulance than a four-year-old should be allowed.
“What, in the car?” Dean shifts the Impala into park and cranes his head to look at Jack in the backseat.
“No.” Jack looks at Dean like he’s the crazy one, like Jack himself didn’t just spend fifteen minutes throwing the world’s most massive tantrum when Dean picked him up from school. “At the doctor.”
“Well, sucks.” Dean gets out of the car and goes around to the back to unbuckle Jack. “How else are we gonna find out how big and strong you’re getting?”
“Papa measures me on the wall.”
“Yeah, well, your papa isn’t a doctor.”
“Yes, he is.”
Dean sighs, lifting Jack out of his carseat. Explaining the different between an M.D. and a Ph.D. to a pre-K student is futile, and Jack tells anyone that listens that Papa is a doctor and Daddy is a car doctor.
(Okay, Dean doesn’t mind that last one. But Cas teaches English. If anyone needs stitches and he’s the only one around, they’re screwed.)
Cas is the one that insists Jack needs to stick to regular doctor’s appointments, but he always conveniently can’t take him, which means it’s Dean’s job to pick Jack up from school (and today he made the mistake of picking him up during story time, which, hey, he doesn’t keep track of Miss Holloway’s classroom schedule, so that’s not his fault), wrestle him in the carseat, and endure twenty minutes of complaining on the drive to the pediatrician.
(At least Jack likes Elton John and not Baby Shark so they can listen to some cool music. He’s obsessed with the “crocodile song.”)
“You have to carry me, Daddy,” Jack demands when Dean tries to set him down and hey, if Jack can write his name and read a handful of words, he can walk, but Dean’s not looking to deal with another tantrum. Dean’s not as young as he used to be, though, and it’s with great relief that he finally hip-checks the pediatric clinic’s door open and deposits Jack onto a chair.
“There’s an appointment for uh, Jack Winchester?” Dean says to the receptionist. “At eleven?” He glances up at the clock over her head--they’re only a minute late.
She shoves some paperwork at him and Dean slumps into the chair next to Jack, who has pulled his Disney Princess sticker book out of his backpack (astronaut-themed, because that was Jack’s obsession back when school started) and is totally ignoring him now.
The one balm is that the nurses love Jack (and he is just the cutest, they’re right), so they coddle him and tell him what a big boy he is now when they finally get called back (and Dean only forgot their insurance number once. Cas gets great family insurance with the university).
But after weighing and measuring and blood pressure is the finger prick, and the nurse tries to get Dean to stay out of the room but Jack starts wailing, so Dean comes back and holds his tiny hand.
“Look,” Dean says, “They’ve got fun bandaids.”
“I hate bandaids,” Jack replies viciously, but he does select one with dinosaurs on it, and then the nurse gives him a lollipop, which definitely cheers Jack up.
The part with the actual doctor isn’t so bad. Her name is Dr. Sanford, and she looks in Jack’s ears and throat, listens to his heartbeat, knocks his little knees and elbows with the reflex hammer. And she tells Jack that his frog shirt is really cool, which means that Jack is going to love her forever.
“He’s perfectly healthy,” the doctor tells Dean. “He’s taking a vitamin, right?”
Dean nods. Everyone in their house takes a vitamin. Even him. Cas’s rules.
“Great.” Dr. Sanford hands Dean a sheaf of papers. “They’ll get you at the checkout desk, okay?”
Jack gets another lollipop at the checkout desk and proudly shows the woman processing their paperwork his bandaid, and then tries to escape the office entirely while Dean is still talking to her about insurance and co-pay, but all in all, they’ve had worse doctor’s visits.
(The bar is not high.)
When they make it back to the Impala, it’s twelve-thirty, and Dean could take Jack back to school, but it’s lunchtime, and he wants a burger, and Cas isn’t around to grumble about fast food (he always says he “doesn’t want any” and then eats half of Dean’s fries because he’s the worse and Dean’s stupidly in love with him), so Wendy’s it is.
“Just don’t tell your Papa,” Dean says as he buckles Jack in, and Jack crosses his heart.
(The kid’s meal toy will probably sweeten that deal.)

The Flame That Never Died
Harvey Specter x Reader
A/N I said the other day I didn’t know whether to start writing for Harvey Specter and Mike Ross (from suits) so this is kinda testing the waters a bit as they aren’t many fics for them 🥺
Request by @little-diable : Okay so, what if the reader and Harvey had a thing going on at uni but once they graduated they lost contact. Maybe she needs help with getting out of a marriage where the husband is idk abusive or too powerful for her to just leave him and she seeks Harvey out and they fall for each other once again?
Tumblr media
This wasn’t the life you wanted, you didn’t want to be the trophy wife, the one that was to complete the act that your husband put on for the world.
The life you wanted was the life of a lawyer, you had gone through law school coming out 2nd in the class. Being beaten by the one person who would always have your heart. The one and only Harvey Specter. But as soon as you graduated you went your separate ways. You were on the next flight to Chicago to look after your mother, your dreams of becoming a lawyer put on the back burner.
You hadn’t even bothered getting changed out of your sweatpants and oversized hoodie. The house felt so empty, it wasn’t a home, it meant nothing to you. It was a Friday night, the night you would always go over to your mum’s but today was a year since you lost her.
All you wanted was to be held, but no you were in the massive house alone whilst your husband was out with his latest flavour of the week.
You didn’t know what you were doing when you booked the next flight out of chicago. A flight to the one place you could call home. New York City. You were done being the second best.
Pushing yourself off the sofa you ran into your bedroom, pulling the suitcases out and chucking everything you could fit into the case. Including your Harvard certificates. This was about you and you will do anything to get your life back on track. And you needed help to do it, all you were known as were Mrs Beckett, it wouldn’t be a simple process filing the divorce papers but you knew just the person who would help.
Tumblr media
Staring up at the building, you took a deep breath, as you walked in with two coffees in one hand and your suitcase in the other. You just hoped Harvey would help you still seen as you both lost contact with each other.
“Hi I wonder if you can help me?” You asked the security guy “I’m looking for Harvey Specter”
“Is he expecting you?” The guy said not looking up from his screen.
“Urm no” you sighed.
“Then no I can’t help you then” he laughed.
You knew this was a bad idea turning up unannounced. Turning on your heels you had decided to give up until you were stopped.
“Sorry did you say you were wanting to see Harvey?” A young guy asked.
“Yeah” you nodded.
“I’m Mike his associate” he smiled “I know you don’t have an appointment but something tells me this is important, so come on”
“Thank you” you smiled softly.
Tumblr media
“Mike” Donna hissed gaining his attention “who have you just put in Harvey’s office?”
“She said her name was Y/N Beckett” Mike shrugged “she said it was important and that she’s an old friend”
“You know who she is right?” Donna said watching you through the glass walls “that’s Lucas Beckett’s wife”
“Wait as in Lucas Beckett the politician”
“Yeah” Donna nodded pulling her phone out to call Harvey “which means her and Harvey go way back”
You don’t know how long you were sitting in Harvey’s office, but time was dragging. Hearing the door open you took a deep breath before turning around.
“Hey Harv” you smiled
“Please tell me my eyes aren’t deceiving me” He smirked as you passed him the coffee you brought.
“Well I hope I’m real you idiot” you laughed as he pulled you into a hug.
“What brings you to my office?” He asked sitting at his desk “not that I’m complaining at all, I mean it’s been what seven years since I last saw you”
“I need your help” you said quietly.
“Anything” he nodded leaning forward on his forearms.
“I’m divorcing Lucas” you said, not making eye contact. “But I know it’s going to get messy so I need a lawyer and honestly you were the first person I thought of”
“It’s about time you divorced that prick” Harvey said “I mean as long as I can remember you wanted to be a lawyer and that prick stopped you”
“I know” you sighed “and he’s been cheating on me”
“You deserve so much better” Harvey sighed “tell you what, I will get Donna to clear my schedule for the day and you and me are going to go for dinner”
“Can I at least get changed first” you laughed pointing down to your outfit.
“Tell you what we will head back to mine and I will change and we will go to a low key place you know like old times” he smiled standing up from his desk to speak to Donna.
Part of you regretted ever losing contact with Harvey. But that was in the past now. Within a few minutes he returned with the smile on his face that made you fall for him in law school.
“Come on then trouble” he smirked grabbing the handle of your suitcase “also have you got anywhere to stay?”
“No” you said shaking your head “it was kinda a last minute decision”
“Well then you can stay with me” he smiled “it will be just like old times”
Tumblr media
It had been a month since you left Chicago, meaning you have lived with Harvey for a month now. It was like you guys never lost contact, and was like old times with added flirting. It also meant you so called husband hadn’t contacted you at all showing how much he actually cared about you.
You were currently making breakfast whilst Harvey was in the shower, or so you thought. A low whistle brought your attention away from the stove.
“Damn I forgot how good you look in just one of my shirts” He smirked, making you bite your lip.
“As much as I like where this is going Harvs can we hold off until I am actually divorced” you whispered looking at him standing there in just a towel. “And please go put some clothes on”
“What’s up is it distracting you sweetheart” he winked.
“You know damn well it is” you laughed. “I need to finish breakfast and then we can hopefully serve Lucas the divorce papers today”
“Did you ever regret marrying him?” Harvey asked.
“All the time” you sighed “did you look into my chances of starting at Pearson Hardman?”
“I’ve got a meeting with Jessica today” he smiled “who knows you might become the next Harvey Specter”
“What like you have done with Mike” you laughed “I mean seriously Harvs he is like a mini you it’s kind of scary”
“Leave Mike alone” Harvey laughed as he walked back into his room to get dressed.
You were deep in thought and completely forgot about the food you were cooking until the smoke alarm went off scaring the shit out of you.
“Some things never change” Harvey laughed making sure you hadn’t set his kitchen on fire “still daydreaming and nearly kill us, what makes on your mind”
“Urm it’s nothing” you shrugged feeling slightly embarrassed.
“Sweetheart you burnt my bacon it’s definitely something” he said running his thumb across your cheek.
“Okay I was thinking about us” you whispered “as a couple and how much of a power couple we would be”
“It won’t be long before we can make that happen” he whispered before his lips connected with yours. He couldn’t help it, he had fallen for you once again and wasn’t planning on losing you. You felt him smirk into the kiss as you wrapped your arms around his neck.
“Come on then trouble go get ready”

Tumblr media Tumblr media
the night was a one night stand
seungmin had no plans to see you after, you already gone by the morning so it made no different what he wanted afterwards
so with his number in your phone, you decided that texting him would be the best
you texted him your address, asking him to meet with you after u addressed who you were
the best maybe after twelve, seeing as how from nine to eleven you would be occupied with the toilet bowl, the morning sickness really weighing on you
hes there, ready to talk, looking great
ur just there in a t-shirt and sweatpants with slightly messy hair
you seat him on ur couch, pacing in the kitchen before actually beginning to talk
“it broke, or maybe you forgot. i don’t know but you, you got me pregnant.”
i honestly see seungmin being really innocent in this and he’s just made a bad decision which resulted in a baby
“wh-what? no, i used.. i..”
it dawns on him that he can’t remember slipping on a condom before
he’s turned white as a sheet, probably feeling more ill than you
he does the math, figuring you’re around two months, you’re not that far along obviously
“we don’t have to do this, you hardly know me.”
hes shaking his head quickly, “nono, i wanna.. i may never get this chance again. i might not ever meet someone again, so, if it’s with you? i’m fine with that.”
seungmin was there for the next appointment, fully supportive and stepping up
hes scared but so excited
he also moves out of the dorms, raising flags, but he keeps assuring everyone that he was just getting a change of scenery
he claims he got a dog but uh, there isn’t one
he actually moves in with u, an apartment that wasn’t too far away from the dorms and he will time to time spend the night if they need him to
ur actually really understanding of his career and u admire his adjustment
late night with him where u two go to a twenty-four hour convenience store and buy every junk food possible
u also acquired strange cravings such a pineapple and cream cheese or kimchi and chocolate sauce
that night however u rly had a craving for cheese and cheese only
it doesn’t last however, from three to five you are in the bathroom hunched over
he?? isnt?? actually?? the worst partner to get pregnant from a one stand with?????????????????????????????????????????
he’s pretty much a sweetheart
bless everyones heart though when they find out about you
“this is my friend, we are.. having a uh, baby!”
haha surprise...
u swore that jisung’s breath was lost when he said that
chan is fucken freaking out about this
“we’re gonna be uncles!”
everybody screaming and cheering which was a good sign
ur days are average and u guys just act like friends
friends having a baby lmfao
it’s a fine line between dating and not dating
seungmin reaaalllyy likes you but he has this bit of guilt in him for getting you pregnant
ur the one who uprooted your life and ur gonna have a kid for the rest of ur life with him and he’s still living his and doing what he loves
seungmin heart eyes motherfucker when u come to a concert, just there to see him n see what he does for a living
u guys get this cute ass picture of everyone lmfao i just imagine the boys and seungmin standing around and posing with ur small bump
he doesn’t get to go to every single appointment, so his first appointment he went to was when you were around six and a half months
he’s super excited and just super nervous
so many expecting moms its crazy
when your name is called and you two go back, he’s jumping out of his seat and going back with you
the doctor applies the gel on your stomach, the rounded bump sticking out prominently
his hand clasps around yours, fingers laced with yours and he gives you a warm smile
the screen flickers on and theres your baby
it’s the cutest thing he’s ever seen
he can clearly see the legs and arms, theres the head!!! he can make out the toes and fingers
then u guys get to hear the heartbeat together
it’s so strong and he just,, wow.. this is real 😣
ur bearing his child, your guys’ baby,, he can hardly believe it
then the doctor asks if u two want to know the gender
“yeah.” 🥺🥺🥺
ofc u could’ve known before but u didn’t know if seungmin wanted to find out or wait n u just would feel guilty if u went ahead
he was rly trying to be as involved as possible, he had a busy schedule and u two weren’t even dating and this whole thing was happening secretly
they turn the monitor for you two to look at, pointing around
“there they are, we have a baby boy.”
seungmin is so taken aback, this all is so .. unreal for him
he’s ready to get the disc with ur ultrasound footage n the heartbeat but also the ultrasound photos 🥺 he’s so in love with your baby boy
u two are just sitting in the office after, ur wiping off ur belly n he’s just like
“i’m in love with you. you and our son — i know, we agreed to co-parenting and no feelings but,” his voice is so strained n he’s just so fragile n so utterly raw, “i couldn’t help it.”
ur fact at first is just frozen and slightly shocked
then ur like 😮🥺😣
“no, cause i was thinking the same exact thing.”
that seals the deal for u two pretty much, ur both emotional wrecks in the exam room
theres the boyfriend and girlfriend dynamic now — seungmin and you sleeping cuddled together
it wasn’t like you two didn’t cuddle before,, but it would usually end up with seungmin silently creeping out of bed or you softly removing his arm or you leaving him gently
u rely on him more, the final trimester hard on you and ur so exhausted and hurting
u two getting the nursery ready together which actually consists of u sitting down rather than actually doing anything
though u will have to teach this boy how to put away bibs and fold baby clothes
u two are young and u both have a lot of explaining to do to your own families, but they are supportive
they r more than happy to teach u two about children and giving tips on these things
blue nursery with lil teddy bears around and its just the cutest, props to room designer seungmin 🤓
baby boy is so stubborn, you’re past your due date and you both want him out
you two try a shit ton of things
name it all: pineapple, spicy foods, raspberry tea, daily walks around the block, literally everything
everything except for the obvious that had been recommended by your obgyn
sex.
both of you two hadn’t really explored in the topic of sex or anything of the sort, it was slightly awkward
you’re five days overdue now, which now you couldn’t even care
“please..! they said it works, even our ob said so!”
he is so cautious about this, but begrudgingly decides to proceed with this idea
he’s so sweet 🥺 but maybe a little too sweet because next thing you know is that two short hours later ur water breaks and u are in labor!!!!
both of you are vv nervous
his hyungs are right there to calm him down, asking you if ur okay and if u need anything
they rly adore their lil minnies baby mama & their lil nephew
seungmin is big daddy deffo
he’s so attached to u 🥺 it hurts to see u in so much pain and he can’t do much to take it away, but he will kiss ur forehead and wipe ur tears away
he personally finds u so angelic as u are quite literally coated in sweat and nearly breaking his hand
it’s finally over, you and seungmin both turning to the tiny baby that just came into the world, both of u crying while laughing at the beet red baby
theres your little baby boy in your arms, squirming at the new coldness and trying to move around in the blanket
all of the boys come in, excited to meet the baby
in amazement you made this adorable, small baby after one night
this experience was everything and more to you both, so glad you weren’t as careful one night and now had the greatest gift given to you: your small son who slept soundly in your arms

I pressed a hand to my forehead, trying to will my migraine away.
“You know you should probably go see a doctor.” My best friend and coworker, Hongjoong, spoke as he stirred his morning coffee.
“It’s fine. I get them all the time.”
“Yeah and that’s the problem. You shouldn’t.”
I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose, “Honestly, I’ve trying to avoid going to the doctor but I think you have a point. I can barely focus on anything anymore.”
“Good. Schedule an appointment as soon as you get the chance. You don’t want to wait any longer.” He walked closer to me and ran a hand along my back, “And let me know how it goes, alright? I worry about you sometimes.”
I let out a small laugh, “Thanks, Joongie. I will.”
-
“Miss y/n.”
I raised my head to meet a young woman in light blue scrubs. She smiled at me, but I could see the tiredness in her eyes. I certainly understood, I’d had many long, long days at work myself.
I hope your day gets better, miss.
“Right this way, please.”
I stood, following her as she lead me into a room and instructed me to sit in one of the chairs.
“The doctor you normally see has been quite busy today, so we’ll have one of our newer doctors see you. Is that okay?”
“Yeah that’s fine.” I pressed a hand to my forehead.
“So could you give me run down of what’s been going on?” She clicked a pen, grabbing a scrap of paper from her pocket.
“Sure, basically I’ve just been having really bad migraines.”
“How severe have they been?”
“I mean they’ve been bad enough that I’ve had trouble concentrating.”
“Anything else troubling you?”
“Nope that’s it.”
She scribbled some notes on a sheet of paper and smiled at me.
“Alright, the doctor will be with you soon.” Were her last words as she exited the room with a sigh.
Knowing it’d likely take awhile, I unlocked my phone to mindlessly scroll through social media, eventually getting bored and playing a game instead.
The door opened and I jumped in my seat, placing my phone aside. The young man that walked into the room smiled, running a hair through his parted black hair.
“Hello, I’m Wooyoung. It’s nice to meet you.”
As ridiculous as it sounded, my breath seemed to leave me all at once. His sunkissed skin was seemingly flawless, the closed-mouth smile that he flashed showing slight dimples on his cheeks, the lab coat and stethoscope around his neck left me to admire his appearance. He was certainly the most fit and attractive doctor, let alone man I’d ever seen.
“Oh you, too.”
He reached out to shake my hand and as we touched I felt sparks shoot through me. His hands were slightly rough but still soft. He released my hand with a kind smile.
“So do you mind telling me what’s going on?” He moved a stool that was in the corner of the room closer to me, sitting on it and slightly spreading his legs, his hands on his knees. I felt my head fogging as I fought myself to not stare at him.
“Well I’ve been having really bad migraines recently. I don’t really know what’s causing them.”
“How long have you been having them?”
“For a few months actually, but they’ve only become really bad within the last couple weeks.”
Wooyoung nodded, “Could they be stress induced, by any chance?”
“I mean...I don’t think so? My job is usually stressful but I haven’t been more stressed than normal.”
“Hmm okay. Have you been experiencing any other symptoms? Nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light?”
“No, no other symptoms.”
“Could you be pregnant? That can often-”
I laughed, “No, I haven’t had a boyfriend in a quite a while so that’s not it. I’ve been busy with work.”
I could’ve sworn I saw a slight smirk on his face, but it was gone before I could fully register it.
“I certainly understand that. I was able to get through medical school faster than most but I was studying all the time so I’ve never really had time for a girlfriend.”
I nodded, not exactly knowing what to say as I felt happiness bubble up in my stomach knowing that he was single.
“So how often do you normally get them?”
I cocked my head and raised a brow, “Get what?”
He let out a chuckle that released butterflies in my stomach, “I mean your migraines. How often do you get them?”
“Oh.” I felt my cheeks turn pink, “Maybe four times a week.”
“Cute.” Wooyoung muttered under his breath. I was relatively confident he didn’t intend for me to hear it and I blushed even more.
“Well the nurse told me she forgot to take your vitals so...do you mind?”
“Not at all!” I internally slapped myself for sounding far too enthusiastic, but Wooyoung didn’t seem to care, giving a small smile.
“Could you take off your jacket for me, please?”
“Of course.” I said, ridding myself of the thick coat I was wearing, placing it on a nearby chair. He walked towards me—the smell of his cologne intoxicating—and put the eartips of the stethoscope in his ears.
Wooyoung placed the diaphragm of the stethoscope to my back, “Breathe in and out normally for me, please.”
I did as I was told, blocking my mind from the devilishly handsome man right next to me.
After a moment he removed the tool from my back. “I’m going to place the stethoscope on your chest now, okay?”
Wooyoung eyed my sweater which had slightly thicker material in the front, “Is it alright if I put the stethoscope down your shirt? It’ll be hard to hear your heart through your sweater.”
“Oh—yeah that’s okay!” I cleared my throat, “I mean like yeah it’s fine.”
Way to be smooth.
Wooyoung chucked as he reached down the collar of my shirt with the tool, its cold making me shiver. He apologized for the temperature, assuring me it wouldn’t take but a minute.
“That’s odd,” He stated, an eyebrow raised, “Your heart shouldn’t be beating that fast. Do you know why that might be?”
His dark eyes looked into my own and I swallowed. “I...I just...”
“Yes?”
I looked at the floor, unable to say it while looking in his eyes, “It’s you.”
“Me? How’s that?” I saw from the corner of my eye a slight smirk growing on his face.
I looked into his dark eyes, “My heart is racing because you’re so close to me.”
“Tell me, then. Would it beat faster if I got even closer?”
Stethoscope still on my chest, he leaned down, his lips almost touching my own.
The man let out a deep laugh, much deeper than his speaking voice, “I was correct.”
I was barely able to speak when my eyes drifted to his lips, “It’ll beat even faster if you kiss me.”
“Is that an invitation?”
“It is.”
Wooyoung grabbed my cheek with his free hand and pulled me closer, pressing his lips to mine. He didn’t have to tell me that my heart was racing. I could feel it. I could feel my heart rate increasing the longer his lips touched mine. My hands wrapped around his neck, hands running through his thick hair and pulling it slightly. He bit my bottom lip in response and I whimpered into the kiss, pulling him even closer.
“You’re playing a dangerous game, girl.”
I pulled his hair a bit harder and he groaned against my lips. As if he just remembered the stethoscope, he broke the kiss to pull it away from my chest, removing it from his ears and tossing it on the nearby table.
I giggled and he smiled at me, placing his hands on either side of the chair I was sitting in. Leaning in closer he teased my lips with his, giving me a slight peck before kissing down my jaw to my neck. I reached for his coat and hurriedly removed it from his shoulders, wanting nothing more than to get him undressed.
Gasping for air I grabbed at his hair once more, desperately needing to hear him groan again and he didn’t disappoint. His hands danced to my sweater, slightly lifting it.
“I hate to say it, because I’m really enjoying this, but you are on the clock.”
“Fuck it.” he growled, “I don’t have any patients scheduled today and I work harder than anyone here. I want this if you do.”
“I really do. Fuck me, Wooyoung.”
Without hesitation he pulled my sweater and bra over my head, leaving kisses all over my chest.
“Help me take off your pants, bunny.”
I whimpered, “Yes doctor.”
“Shit that’s hot.” He leaned in close to my ear, “Say it again. Doctor’s orders.”
“Whatever you say, doctor.” I pulled my pants down and threw them across the room.
Wooyoung’s hands teasingly ran up and down my thighs, making me shiver.
“You’re insanely gorgeous.” He growled into my ear.
I couldn’t come up with a solid response, my desire speaking for me, “It’s your turn, doctor. Off with the shirt.”
He made a dramatic flair of pulling his shirt slowly over his head, my eyes growing hazy while looking at his perfectly defined abs.
“Fuck.”
A cocky look formed on his face as he watched my eyes scan over him, soon after lifting me from the chair to the exam table.
He ran a digit along my clothed clit, prompting my back to arch off the table. I grabbed his arms and pulled him towards me, hips bucking into his, the friction setting my body on fire.
He groaned, head falling back as his body gave into his pleasure. Before long he was pulling down my soaked panties and leveling his face with my core.
“Don’t.” I said through heavy breaths, earning a concerned look from Wooyoung, “I want you in me now.”
His eyes widened, “Shit I don’t have a condom.”
I pulled him closer to me, “I’ve been on the pill for several months don’t worry about it.”
“Are you sure?” The genuine concern in his eyes currently outweighing the lust I could see behind them.
“I promise.”
The lust returned to his eyes and I couldn’t help but feel small under his gaze. The rest of his clothes were discarded in a hurry, his member then lining up with my core.
“Let me know if you’re uncomfortable or want me to stop, okay?”
His consideration made me smile, knowing full damn well I wouldn’t want him to stop. “I will. You too.”
Wooyoung let out a short chuckle and entered me slowly. I felt my eyes close as I focused on the feeling of him inside me, feeling out of breath already. I moaned as he pulled out slightly and rammed his hips back into mine.
“You like this?” He growled, “Knowing that anyone could catch us?”
I nodded, letting out quiet whimpers as I gasped for air. His speed was quick and hard, hitting every spot inside me my fingers could never reach.
“What a dirty girl you are.”
My walls clenched around him as tears welled in my eyes from the stimulation, my moans gradually getting louder without my control.
He leaned closer to me, “Quiet, sweetheart. Can’t let everyone here know what we’re up to, can we?”
I whimpered as he picked up speed and I forced my eyes open, needing nothing more than to see him. His pupils were dilated, his face flushed, and his hair was sporadically sticking to his forehead. He looked godly.
“You look so beautiful under me, taking me so well,” He said through half-lidded eyes, “How are you feeling, love?”
I whined at the pet name and clenched around him. He groaned and I brought myself to speak, “I feel f-full, doctor.”
Wooyoung nuzzed my neck, placing a few kisses upon my skin, and I felt my high approaching.
“Touch me, please.” I pleaded.
He complied, teasingly running his fingers along my clit and I felt sparks of pleasure shoot through me.
“Are you gonna cum, baby girl? Be my good girl and cum for me.”
I bit my lip to keep from moaning loudly as I came, feeling Wooyoung release at the same time. He stilled, watching me catch my breath as he did the same.
“Pretty sure I just broke several medical moral codes but damn I don’t regret a minute of that.”
I hid my face in his chest, face heating up, “Me either.”
He pulled out of me and I pouted at the loss of feeling him.
“We just had sex and you’re still needy?”
“Listen, you just feel good inside of me.”
He leaned over me a gave me a long, sweet kiss, “You feel pretty good around me, yourself.”
Wooyoung pulled back and reached for his boxers, putting them on before grabbing some paper towels and cleaning me up. “Get dressed, doll.”
I nodded and slowly slipped my clothes on, legs feeling wobbly. He noticed and smiled at me, fully dressed now.
“Well,” He started, “I think we should exchange numbers in case you experience more migraines. We’ll have to monitor that, of course.” His eyes twinkled.
“Ah yes, of course.” I giggled, handing over my phone.
I watched his fingers glide over the keyboard, my eyes once more trailing down his chest, unable to forget how good he looked shirtless.
Without looking up he spoke, his voice lighthearted, “I can see you, you know.”
“No you can’t.” I teased.
He laughed and handed over his phone for me to do the same. “I can write you a prescription if you feel like that’s something you need. Have you tried over the counter medicine?”
I chuckled and he gave me a questioning look. “It’s just that the conversation took a different direction than I was expecting. But no, I haven’t.”
Wooyoung nodded, “I would recommend that you start with Ibuprofen and if that doesn’t work, let me know and we can prescribe you a stronger medicine, okay?”
“Sounds good.”
A silence fell over us. Noticing my nervousness, Wooyoung pulled me into his arms, placing a kiss on my lips, “I need to go, but I’ll call you, okay?”
I gave a shy nod and bit my lip.
“Do you like coffee by any chance?” He questioned as he ran a hand through my hair. I welcomed his touch, leaning closer to him.
“Love it, why?”
“I say we meet up at a coffee shop soon. I’ve got a particular one in mind and I think you’ll really like it.”
I smiled, beyond happy to know he wanted to see me again, “Works for me.”
-
“So it went pretty well, I think.”
“Good, have you been feeling better?” Hongjoong asked later in the week.
“Much.” I bit my lip, looking down, “I’ve got a date later today.”
“What? With who?” Hongjoong asked with a smile, genuinely happy for me.
“Um...the doctor I saw earlier this week.” I scratched the back of my head.
“Oh my god you do not.”
“I do. I really like him.” I confessed, “We’ve been texting a lot.”
“Damn.” He shook his head, “That’s definitely a surprise but I’m happy for you girl. You know, why don’t you head out early? Our shifts are almost over anyways and I can finish up anything you’ve still got to do.”
“No I can’t ask you to do that!”
“I insist. Go ahead.” Hongjoong all but pushed me out of the office, sending me on my way and wishing me luck.
I waved back at him, thanking him again before leaving the building. I hopped in my car and drove off, feeling happiness bubble in my chest.
I took a step into the cute coffee shop, looking around at the full tables before locking eyes with Wooyoung. His eyes sparkled with the same playful look as I remembered. I walked over to where he was sitting and took the chair across from him.
“Hey,” He smiled wide.
“Hey yourself.”
“Are you gonna order anything?”
“Maybe in a bit. I wanna spend time with the handsome man in front of me first.”
A slight red dusted his ears as he tried to laugh away his shyness. “How’ve your migraines been?”
“Honestly, I haven’t had any since I saw you last.”
He cocked his head. “Wonder what could’ve fixed that?”
I bit my lip, meeting his eyes, “I’ve got a pretty good idea.”
“Incredible. This is a medical breakthrough. I can just imagine the medical articles.” Wooyoung raised a hand, moving it in the air as he spoke, “Sex cures chronic migraines, experiments suggest.”
I laughed, playfully hitting him on the shoulder.
“What? Am I wrong?” He said with a mischievous smile.
I quirked a brow, “I think we should probably conduct more experiments though, right? In the name of science.”
He pressed his lips together in a tight smile. “You make a compelling argument. I think I have to agree. My place after this?”
“Absolutely.”
-
Final Note: Listen I know Wooyoung probably should have actually prescribed y/n something for her migraines but it’s to further the plot okay please understand—

Charity Case - Yoongi
Not super edited, not sure if I love it, blah blah blah, please still enjoy...
I’ve been in such a Yoongi mood lately 😇
----------------------------------------------------
You stared at your bank statement, or more specifically, your savings account. You had saved up a decent amount of money, that was for sure, but it wasn’t enough. It wasn’t enough to kickstart your dream.
It all happened a few days ago on a Tuesday afternoon. You had just finished lunch with a friend who was from your home country. The two of you had found a restaurant specializing in the traditional food from there since you both were craving a taste of home. On your walk back to your apartment, you noticed the road you usually took was blocked off with construction (typical for the summertime in Seoul you were learning), so ultimately you had to take a detour, pulling out your Maps app. Although you lived in Hongdae, you really only took the same few roads daily. Therefore, you still did not quite know your way around.
The new directions had you weave down a side street, one you had never been on before. To your surprise, it was full of restaurants, shops, and cafes, and since Hongdae was known for homing many foreigners within the city of Seoul, many of them featured things you were very familiar with from back home.
Strolling down the block you made mental notes of places you wanted to try, places that were bustling with people, figuring they must be good if that’s the case.
All of a sudden, between an American grocery store and floral shop, you noticed a beautiful empty store front. You peered in the large windows and was met with a decent sized space, white walls, white tile floors, a lot of natural lighting. It was perfect. In the corner of the same window there was a sign that read “FOR LEASE” with the name of the agent and a phone number.
You took a picture of said sign before stuffing your phone back in your pocket. There was no harm in calling, right? Even just getting a feel for the space was harmless…right?
For ever since coming to Seoul from abroad, it was your dream to open your own bakery. To make desserts and breads and pastries fresh daily for the Seoulites to try and the foreigners to feel nostalgic for their home countries. You were currently working a boring office job as a translator, saving for the moment you could follow your true dream.
And maybe this was a sign… this was it.
So, you did call. You did get a feel for the space. And it was perfect. Turns out it had been a pizza shop that went under, (too much competition) so there were already ovens and freezers and refrigeration, all in great working condition. The agent informed you the floor could be ripped up and replaced, there were already light fixtures attached in the ceiling that could connect to chandeliers and you were already picturing plants hanging from macrame in front of the large windows.
But there was just one problem.
As you stared at your savings account and compared it to the down payment in the brochure the realtor had given you… they didn’t match. You were short about 1/3 of the cost, especially since there was still some work to be done inside to really make it your own.
You heart sunk. You mentally scolded yourself for getting your hopes up. It was in such a prime location; how could you have been so stupid to think it was in your price range!
Suddenly, instead of staring at your lack of funds, you were staring at your face in your phone’s front camera as you received a FaceTime call request. ‘Yoongi’ was the name at the top of the phone screen, accompanied by your favorite picture you had taken of him candidly making a gummy smile caused by a joke you had told. Right on time for the daily call you two always had.
You sighed. Did you really want to speak to him right now? You were great friends, you had (stupidly) told him about the place and he had been so incredibly excited for you. He was so supportive and encouraging… it was incredibly endearing. Reminding yourself of that you pressed the green accept button.
Immediately you were met with the handsome face and bleach blonde hair of Min Yoongi. He was resting his head back on his black leather sofa, his narrow eyes meeting yours between screens.
“Hi Yoongi-ah,” you gave him a small smile.
“Hey (y/n).” he responded, returning the smile.
You stood up and walked over to the couch in your small apartment, sitting down and curling your legs underneath you.
“What are you up to?” you asked.
He reached towards the screen and flipped it, so it was now looking forward. An NBA basketball game was playing on the large tv in his living room.
“Watching the game. It’s game 4 of the finals so if Pheonix wins this one they only have one more game to win before they win it all.”
He returned the screen to face him.
“Oh, that’s cool,” you replied, “Did you have a lot on your work schedule today?”
He ran a hand through his hair.
“It wasn’t too bad. Practiced PTD for a Japanese tv performance we have coming up. Worked on some music between rehearsals,” he shrugged, “the usual.”
You nodded.
“You?” he questioned, “how was your day?”
You looked down at the couch cushions and fiddled with the blanket that laid beside you. You bit your lip before responding.
“Fine. It was fine. I, uh, I had that appointment. With the agent in charge of that space I was interested in?”
Yoongi’s eyes got wide, and he perked his head up.
“Shit, I forgot that was today. How was it? Did you like it as much as you thought you would?”
A small grin appeared on your face remembering how picturesque it had been.
“It was even better than I thought it would be, Yoongs,” you told him.
He smiled wide.
“That’s incredible! So wh-what now? Did you put down the money for it? Or did you need me to come with you to look at it again, see if there’s anything that needs fixing that I can do??”
You closed your eyes tightly and shook your head. He was so sweet, and it broke your heart even more.
“Thank you, Yoongi, for offering, but that… won’t be necessary.”
You chewed the inside of your cheek, expecting his next question to make you feel uneasy.
He cocked his head and furrowed his eyebrows.
“What? Why not? I really don’t mind.”
You sighed, suddenly incredibly embarrassed to be admitting this to your friend.
“I just saw the statement of my bank account and, well, I don’t… I can’t afford the down payment. I don’t have enough saved up yet.”
You couldn’t help but look down in shame. Yoongi never talked about his money or how much he made being in BTS, but you weren’t stupid. He worked incredibly hard for everything he and his fellow members have achieved and you were nothing but proud of him. He deserved it all, even the unassumingly large income he was bringing in. He would never, ever flaunt it or make you feel inferior to him because of it, but you still felt slightly inefficient in your confession.
Yoongi’s face softened.
“Oh… I’m-I’m sorry, (y/n).”
You shrugged and gave him a small, hopeful smile.
“It’s alright. It just means it wasn’t meant to be, that’s all.”
He gave you a sympathetic frown.
“But you said it was perfect.” He reminded you.
You placed your fingers to the bridge of your nose.
“Because it is, Yoongi-ah. It’s bright and cozy and practically ready. Not to mention it’s an incredible location,” you rolled your eyes at yourself, “I really should have known it would be too much.”
“How much is it, if you don’t mind me asking?”
You looked away again and scrunched your nose, before telling him the exact amount required to put down in order for the space to be yours.
His mouth formed into that straight line he was known for when he was neither happy nor displeased by something.
“Could you get a loan? Like from a bank?”
You shook your head.
“I already looked into it,” you informed him, “it’s weird because my bank is home, but I’m abroad so there would be a lot of hoops to jump through and the chances of being approved are slim to none. Basically, it’s not worth putting a mark on my credit for.”
He nodded in understanding, looking away for a moment. His eyebrows knitted together in thought, and as much as you appreciated him trying to help you, you had already thought of all the possible solutions, and you didn’t really want to talk about it anymore.
“It’s okay, Yoongs, really, I’ll find someplace else.” You smiled reassuringly at him.
He looked back at you and hummed in agreement before you began talking about something else.
 -
The next day you had barely stepped out of your office building after a long day at work when your phone’s text message notification sound went off.
5:49pm from Yoongi: Are you off work yet?
5:49pm to Yoongi: Leaving now. What’s up?
5:50pm from Yoongi: Can you meet me here at the HYBE building ASAP?
You furrowed your eyebrows.
5:50pm to Yoongi: Sure. Is everything okay?
5:50pm from Yoongi: Yeah, everything is fine
5:51pm from Yoongi: Come to the Forum at the top floor when you get here, okay? I already told the front desk you’re coming
5:51pm to Yoongi: You’re being weird but okay
5:51pm from Yoongi: Don’t worry so much you pabo, it’s nothing bad
You rolled your eyes and locked your phone before hailing a taxi.
The ride to Yoongi’s work was longer than usual because of traffic, but eventually you made it, giving a wad of cash to the driver and stepping out of the cab. The tall, reflective HYBE building intimidated you a little bit, like you were going to get in trouble just for stepping foot on its grounds, but you confidently passed the transparent sign that read “HYBE We Believe in Music” and opened the doors to the main entrance. A woman at the front desk greeted you and asked to see your ID when you told her you were here to see Min Yoongi. When she confirmed your identity, she gestured toward the elevators.
“Yes, you may proceed to the Forum on the 19th floor, he is waiting near the café there.”
You nodded and thanked her before letting the elevator doors close in front of you.
The aroma of coffee wafted into your nose immediately upon stepping out of the elevators. It smelled heavenly. You walked past many groups of HYBE businessmen and women taking breaks or in small meetings before finally spotting Yoongi at a table in the corner near the large windows. He was fixated on his phone, an iced Americano on the table in front of him, and another iced drink sitting across. It had been a few weeks since you had seen him in person as his schedule was usually jam packed, but upon seeing him now your heart skipped a beat and a wide smile formed on your lips. You hadn’t seen his newly bleached hair in person yet and he looked even more handsome than you imagined. His pale skin glowed in the sunlight. It was good to see him again. You missed him.
“Hi,” you said, pulling out the chair and sitting down across from him, “the building is incredible.”
He glanced up at you and nodded in agreement.
“It’s nice. They did a great job. I don’t mind coming to work as much now.” He chuckled to himself, and you rolled your eyes.
He pointed to the beverage in front of you.
“The drinks are good, too, I got your favorite.”
You smiled at him and took a sip. He was right, it was delicious.
 “Thanks, Yoongs.”
He stared at you for a moment, a grin forming on his face. Your face felt hot, and you had to look away.
“Sooo… why did you need me here so urgently?” you quickly wondered.
“Urgently?” he retaliated, “it sure took you long enough.”
Oh, how you loved his bluntness.
You scoffed.
“Well, excuuuuse me, Mr. Min, normal people go home from work around this time, so traffic was absolutely horrendous! Could you have picked any other time of day?”
He smiled and looked down at his hands while shaking his head.
“This was literally the only open slot I had today, sorry,” he glanced at the time on his phone, “and I’m already almost out of time as it is.”
You waved your hands, urging him on.
“Well then, what is it that it couldn’t wait?”
He scratched the back of his neck and chuckled nervously.
“Aiisshh okay, please don’t be mad.”
You narrowed your eyes and cocked your head.
“Mad? What? What is it, Min Suga?”
He took a deep breath and reached into the front pocket of his jeans, pulling out a small piece of paper. Then he unfolded it carefully and placed it in the middle of the table facing you.
To your shock, it was a personal check. From Yoongi’s bank account. Written for the exact amount you had told him last night of the down payment for the perfect shop you couldn’t afford.
Your jaw dropped and your eyes left the rectangular paper to look into his. They were a little weary, maybe, but hopeful.
“Yoongi…” you started.
He held up his hand.
“Please. Just take it, (y/n).”
Your heart was pounding. There in front of you was the exact amount you needed to start your dream. Your very own bakery. And combined with the amount you had in your savings you could even add some extra touches!
But… you couldn’t do it. You knew you couldn’t. This was your dream, and even if that amount of money was nothing to someone like Yoongi, you wanted to be the one to earn it, like he had earned all his successes.
“I-I… I can’t, Yoongi.”
He sighed and closed his eyes.
“(y/n) …”
“Thank you, Yoongi, truly, it means so much.”
He shook his head and motioned to the check.
“Then just take it.”
“I don’t want it.”
“But you said so yourself that place is perfect! You were in love with it!”
You nodded, trying to keep your cool. Did he have to keep reminding you how great it was?
“Yes. But I cannot afford it. There will be other places.”
“You can afford it if you take this. Please, (y/n), this won’t hurt me in anyway financially, I’m good. I want you to be, too.”
“I am good, Yoongi. I work hard and I’m saving. This place is just not it and I have to accept that. Maybe a time will come where I can afford someplace like it, and when it does it will be just as perfect.”
He rolled his eyes.
“How do you know you’ll find another place?? Jesus, you’re so fucking stubborn sometimes, (y/n).”
Your hands balled up into fists. Okay that was it. Calling you stubborn because you wanted to be self sufficient had made you hit your boiling point.
“I’m stubborn? How about I just don’t want to be your charity case, idol Min Yoongi, hmm?” you whispered harshly to him, “I can take care of myself, okay? I don’t want your help; I don’t need your help. I’m a fucking adult, too, you know, just because I don’t make millions doesn’t mean I can’t make smart financial decisions. God, do you think I’m just that pathetic?”
You got up to leave, so over this conversation.
Yoongi squeezed his eyes shut.
“What? Fuck, (y/n), no I don’t think you’re pathetic. If anything… I-I’m the pathetic one.”
You scoffed and rolled your eyes before marching back toward the elevators and hitting the down arrow button.
Yoongi followed.
“Do you know why?” he asked, jumping into the elevator with you before the doors could close.
It was just the two of you as it began its long descent down 19 floors.
You narrowed your eyes at him.
“Why what? Why you’re pathetic?” you snorted, “Because you just offered your friend an obscene amount of money for something you have no part in?”
He looked down at the floor and took a deep breath.
Finally, he peered back up at you and his dark brown eyes met yours.
“Well, that, and because,” he paused, shuffling nervously on his feet, “because I’m having a really hard time telling that same friend how I truly feel about her.”
Your heart stopped and your mouth fell open again, in a different kind of shock.
“What?” you said softly.
“Fuck, I love you, (y/n)!” the pale skin of his face turned a bright red, and he took his gaze away again, “Aiiisshh, I’m sorry, I’m just horrible at showing my emotions and telling people how I feel. I guess I was hoping offering you the money would help you understand but I didn’t even think how it would come off, I just wanted you to know that I support you and I want to be apart of your decisions in life as more than a friend and- “
You cut off his worrisome rant by flinging yourself towards him and kissing him hard. It was his turn to be shocked, but he instantly got the memo and pushed you back against the wall of the elevator in passion. He wrapped his arms around your waist, his large hands grazing the bare skin of your lower back under your shirt. You gripped your hands in his blonde locks.
The elevator let out a ding signaling you had reached the first floor. You pulled away from each other, panting from the heat of the moment. You smiled.
“I love you, too, Yoongs. But I’m still not taking your money.”
He rolled his eyes and snorted.
Then you started to exit the elevator, but you felt him grab your wrist.
“Wait.”
You turned back toward him with confused eyes.
He grinned at you, his eyes suddenly full of lust.
“Do you maybe... want to see my new studio?”

Forgive my writing. It's been a while.

It wasn't exactly the best day, the morning started out shitty. Missing his alarm, the water temperature wasn't right no matter how many times he adjusted the water, he ran out of his favorite body wash and damn near out of shampoo, he forgot to grab a towel and nearly slipped on the floor to get a fresh one. Ran out of toothpaste, his favorite suit still at the cleaners. If it wasn't one thing it was another this morning, Coffee; out. Apples; gone. "FUCK!" He screamed on his way outside of the elevator into the parking garage to get into his car, and guess what... flat tire! He was done, angry, frustrated, irritated. Running his hands through his hair he put his suitcase on the concrete and called for a driver to come and pick him up so he could get to work.
Getting back into the elevator he made his way to the lobby and looked at his silver Rolex watch with a blue faceplate and checked the time, only good thing so far was that he was right on time, just waiting on the driver. When a black Lexus pulled up and the driver got out, walked around the car, and opened the back door he walked out of that lobby like he owned the world. Fixing his cuff on his dark gray Burberry modern fit suit and slid into the back of the car. As the driver closed the door and made his way around to the driver's seat he took off towards Anvil. He had a meeting today and he hoped that he wasn't going to be late. This was a big step for the company and he hoped that that wasn't fucked up either.
Stepping out of the car he walked into the building. "Good Morning Mr. Russo." the girl at the front desk gave a chipper tone. He gave a nod and walked down the hall making his way to his office. Sitting down he let out a heavily loaded breath and put his head in his hands and shook his head. "Camille! Coffee!" He hollered as he leaned back in his chair and looked over his desk a moment before standing up and walking around to the front of the desk. "Mr. Russo, you're morning appointment is here but there's a small change." His jaw clenched as he went to turn, letting out a small breath he shook his head and let out a breath turning a young curvy girl was standing before him holding his coffee and a folder in hand.
Tilting his head he let out a slight chuckle. "You're not Matthew." He stated. Shaking your head, your hair bounced as you walked forward. "You're coffee Mr. Russo, and I am Mr. Boyd's assistant." He smiled looking over your face. You have a kind face, your eyes were powerful and yet soft, your lips plump and, your breasts supple. You had curves in all the right places, and his mind wandered a moment before he offered you a seat on the couch and took his coffee before taking a seat he watched you as you sat, your legs crossed, following from your black heels to the black shadow of the skirt on your leg and his eyes eventually made it to your face.
Licking his lip he looked at Mr. Boyd's assistant and smirked. "So tell me, why did Matthew send you instead of making his own scheduled appointment, not that I'm complaining, the view is much better." He smirked. With an arched brow, you looked at him "Well, he had a family emergency so I was sent. I'm glad that's no problem, Mr. Russo. Shall we get down to business? I know Mr. Boyd wanted to talk about joining forces with you, want my personal opinion?" Nodding he gave the hand motion for continuing. "I wouldn't waste your time, he's horrible with money, and he will only drag you down, your business Mr. Russo is top-notch, and to be honest, your work is far superior in advancements than his and his wildest daydreams. I've taken the time to go over what you do, your company and I would rather you not risk your company joining forces with him." stated honestly.
With an arched brow and a small chuckle. "Well that is very honest of you...." He waited for a name, "Y/N." responding with an adjustment on the couch you tuck your hair behind your ear and let out a small breath. Billy adjusted in the seat crossing his ankle over his knee and held his coffee in both hands and placed it in this lap. "Okay, Y/N, tell me, what else would you like?" He asked you. Licking your lip you looked over his face. "Honestly, after all I've read, I would rather work for you." Your eyes stay on him, studying him, "I would rather work for... you personally Mr. Russo."
With a small chuckle, he leaned forward and looked you over. "You want Camille's job?" You look at him, a matter of fact in your words, blunt and honest and completely upfront. "Yes." He leaned back, he smirked. "I like you Y/N. Your forwardness your upfront and brutally honest nature." He stopped and looked towards the door. "CAMILLE!" He called. She walked in. "Yes Mr. Russo?" She asked. "Show Y/N around, show her your schedule, show her what you do, show her everything." He smiled. Nodding she went to turn, "Oh and Camille... clear off your desk by the end of the day." Camille wanted to fight, tears welled up in her eyes as she clenched her jaw and walked out "Fuck you Billy Russo." She muttered slamming his door. "She won't show you around, she's going to clear off her desk now and leave..."
Placing his coffee on the table. "Three years and she still makes the world's worst cup of coffee... There's your first task." He smiled. Smiling back you stand up and make your way to the door. "Thank you, Mr. Russo, I'll return with a fresh cup." You don't ask what he takes, you use your best judgment and off you go.

In-Laws Being In-Laws (Re-upload)
 Hiii!
So, this is basically an old fic, which I deleted from my other account ( @dawniebb ) and was requested to be uploaded again.
This feels like a lifetime ago afgshjka, but I remember it was written for a Renegades content swap event, and it was for @healing-winston-pratt (hello, wifey!). The prompt was, basically, Nova and one of the Renegays being in-laws, and it was super fun to write! <3
If anyone’s reading this: Hi, you’re a beautiful human being, and I love you <3
In-Laws Being In-Laws
Dear Dread Warden,
I am not quite sure you will get this message because it is been a while since I last used my communicator but, in case you do: I  hope you are having a nice morning.
The reason I am writing you this is that, as you must already be aware, right now Sketch and his teammates are taking part in the Annual Renegade Convention as special guests to be awarded for their heroic participation in the Second Battle for Gatlon. Hence, they are out of town. Due to my temporary resignation from the team, I declined the offer to attend the event and, for instance, to receive an award. This means that, unlike theirs, my routine remains the same as usual.
Unfortunately, I must see my therapist for my weekly appointment in two hours, and after that I will have to go to the supermarket to pick up some groceries and essential items. Under normal circumstances, given the nature of my relationship with Sketch, he would have driven me to the supermarket and then back to my apartment, as it happens to be located sort of far from the store and it could be pretty difficult for me to walk while carrying all those bags. However, as mentioned before, these are not normal circumstances and Sketch is not currently available.
I reach out to you with no intention to cause trouble; for instance, if I happen to be asking too much or disrupting your schedule (As I am conscious you are a busy person) and you consider you will not be able to help me, I assure you I completely understand. But: Could you pick me up from my therapist's office and take me to the supermarket afterwards?
I apologize for the inconvenience and I promise I will make sure this does not happen again. In addition, I also apologize for the alliteration in the greeting at the beginning of this message. I did not know whether you wanted to be acknowledged by your real name or your alias.
Sincerely,
Insomnia.
-.-
Hi, Insomnia!!!
So nice to see you!... Or should I say read you! Ha! It's been so long, it almost feels like an eternity! I hope therapy is going great! (We're all really proud of you!)
It doesn't bother me at all, sweetheart; of course I'll help you with that. Could you share the location of your therapist's office, please?
Oh, and also: What time do you want me to be there? (Not that I have anything to do today, I just want to be on time).
I'm excited to see you! Can I take you to eat something afterwards? How does that sound?
Take care!
(Agh. I forgot these things don't actually allow you to write your real  name).

(Better).
-.-
He spotted Nova way before parking. She was sitting on a bench outside the building, staring anxiously at her phone. The body language of a nervous person.
Simon stopped the car right in front of where she was, and when she realized he was already here, Nova jumped out of her seat as if it had burned her skin, before jogging in an awkward manner towards the car.
Once she was inside, Simon couldn't help but feel a twinge in his stomach. He wasn't lying when he told her he was excited to see her. In fact, he was more than excited, and he had to hold himself back pretty hard to avoid hugging her, because it was evident she didn't want to be hugged right now, for she just directed a tiny smile at him and said:
"Hi."
She was the same Nova he had met some time ago, but at the same time she was different; she was wearing sneakers, skinny jeans and a basic white v-neck shirt; her hair was a little longer, too, to the point she could tie it in a cute little ponytail; Simon could tell she wasn’t wearing any makeup, but still her face looked healthier than before; less tired, with smaller under-eye dark circles and lips covered in chapstick. Finally.
She looked alive. More than before.
“Hi.” He finally responded.
Watching people get better was always satisfactory, but watching Nova get better was different. He had grown to appreciate her, since the very first moment he saw her with Adrian; since the very first moment he spoke to her and saw nothing but utter heartbreak in her eyes. Nova was hurting, and any sensitive person would’ve noticed that. So, watching her get better was a touching experience for him.
“You look so…”
Nova interrupted him almost immediately.
“I know. I...I barely had time to fix my hair. Gosh. It’s so uncomfortable and I want to cut it but I haven’t had time. I…”
“Oh, no, no, no! Your hair looks gorgeous! “ He chuckled, although he was confused by her reaction. “I was gonna say you look really good. Really, really good. The ponytail looks great on you.”
Nova gulped as she adjusted said ponytail.
“Oh.” She muttered in a hoarse voice. “...Well...Thank you. I thought…”
“No, no.” Simon waved his hand. “You look great. How.... how are you?”
She seemed to be processing the question, even though it was not that difficult.
“I’m…” Nova cleared her throat. “I’m doing great. How are you? How’s ...life going?”
“Absolutely great!” Simon smiled, clapping his hands together. “Things at home are great. You know, Hugh’s not currently here due to the Annual Renegade Convention. Adrian’s not here either (for sure, you already know about that) and Max…”
“Max went too, yeah.” Nova smiled. Her eyes seemed to brighten to the mention of Max’s name. Adrian had mentioned this fact about her a couple of times: Nova was fond of children. And even if she wasn’t, she had a tendency to protect and care about them. Since she had this type of strong personality, Hugh refused to recognize that as a truth, but Simon had no trouble believing it.
It was adorable.
“He called me when he got the invitation. He was eager to go.” She continued. “Which doesn’t surprise me. I...It’s his first time travelling, right?”
“Oh, yeah.” Responded Simon. “We’re planning to go on vacation this year. Because, you know, the convention’s being held not too far away from Gatlon and sadly he’s probably gonna get bored.”
“Bored?” Nova shifted herself in the seat, awkwardly. “Why?”
“Well...those conventions are...well, conventions.” Simon shrugged, smiling at her. “There are a lot of speeches, one after the other and, sure, the guests that represent Gatlon can skip some of them, but others are mandatory and they’re like 2 hours long and it’s so boring and…”
Nova hissed, grimacing, to which Simon nodded in agreement.
“I’m glad I didn’t have to go.” He admitted. “Though I do wanted to be there when Adrian and Max received their award. Too sad.”
Nova tried to speak a couple of times, until she finally had found the correct words to said her thoughts out loud.
“Why...why didn’t you go, then?”
“About that.” Simon chuckled. “Tamaya is going to be there too, as a speaker. And she’s also receiving an award. So...somebody had to take care of the Headquarters and Kasumi and I were left with that responsibility. However, it’s been pretty peaceful, as you may have noticed.”
“I have.” Nova nodded. “Not that I...go out very much, but yeah. Things have been calm.”
“People are behaving for once. And it’s awesome.” he sighed.
Then they stayed in silence. For a while.
Nova stared out the window, avoiding eye contact, while Simon whistled as he tapped his fingers on the wheel.
Not a word. No small talk.
Nothing.
“Sooooo…” Said Simon. “Shall we go?”
“Perhaps we should.” Nova said, immediately, as a flash of relief crossed her face.
So Simon smiled at her once again as he turned on the engine, while Nova put on her seatbelt next to him.
-.-
It took her so little time to come back Simon confirmed she was one of those people who would strategically write their shopping list so they wouldn’t be going back and forth through the aisles. It also surprised him that, being a person so young, she was so...focused on everything.
She really had only bought groceries and essential items. No junk food. No silly things she swore she would need and then she didn’t. Not even candy from the checkout area.
Simon hurried himself out of the car to help her put the bags in the trunk, but once she saw him and guessed his intentions, she quickly said:
“It’s okay. I can do it.”
“I know you can.” He clarified. Because, well, she indeed was a strong person. “But maybe you could use some help. That’s...a couple of bags.”
“Yeah. I know.” Nova nodded, already carrying the first two of the bags. “But I can do it. Please. I’m already causing you too much trouble.”
Simon was yet again confused by her reaction, and he tried to talk to her about it. But just like Nova looked like she didn’t want to be hugged right now, she also looked like she didn’t want to talk about it right now.
So he just opened the trunk for her and held it in case it would go down by its own. It had never happened, but just to be sure. Sometimes Simon’s anxiety made him overanalyze some situations.
Less than 10 minutes had passed by the time Nova finished putting all her stuff in the car, Simon figured she was still training, since she was as agile and fast as she was the day she notified them she would be taking some time off from the team and the Renegades in general.
They got in the car again, and before the silence could get as uncomfortable as the previous one, Simon took the initiative to speak.
“I think...you forgot to answer a part of my message.” He said, carefully. “You know...the part where I told you that maybe we could...go to a restaurant or something?”
Nova’s face, ears and neck turned so red she became a human-shaped cherry, and although in other circumstances he would’ve considered it adorable, this time he couldn’t help but feel sympathy for her. He had been there and done that many times; the messages Nova had sent were peak odd. The type of messages one would overthink over and over again because they had to be perfect. And if something, anything sounded off after you sent it, your world would be in shambles.
So he just smiled to assure it was okay. That he didn’t mind. That those messages didn’t have to be so formal in the first place.
And that, obviously, didn’t work.
For his experience, it never did.
“I...I...Yeah.” Nova scratched her brow. “Pretty much I...I...can recall not knowing how to word that so I just left it blank and I...must’ve forgotten to…”
“Nova.” Simon said, softly. “It’s okay. I don’t mind.”
“Did I...offend you or something?”
“Absolutely no!” He said. “Why would you think that? It’s just a slip. I know it wasn’t your intention and to be honest I still want to take you to eat something so...yeah, there’s no reason to get weird about this. There’s no need to worry.”
Nova took a deep, hasty breath. She was flustered, son Simon tried to keep her calm; to make her feel like she was in a safe environment.
Why wouldn’t she be, in the first place?
She was his son’s girlfriend.
Why would he want to hurt her or make her feel bad?
“Nova, darling.” He said again. “Do you have something on your mind?”
“I do.” Nova cleared her throat, crossing her arms over her chest. “I don’t really...can eat out right now. I barely manage to afford my groceries, you know? It’s been…”
“But you’re not gonna pay your own bill. I mean, why would you do that?” Simon raised an eyebrow at her, genuinely confused, but still laughing nervously. Sweet rot, who had hurt this child so much? “ I’m the one who’s taking you to eat. You wouldn’t have to…”
“You don’t have to either!” She snapped. Not mad, but rather distressed, while breathing heavily.
Simon went still, afraid he would make it worse. Still, he couldn’t leave it like that, so he gulped and, once he reunited enough courage, he dared to speak again.
“What’s really on your mind, Nova?” He asked, this time in a more soothing voice. Nova’s whole being went red again, but the shadow of confusion in her expression was noticeable and hard to ignore. For this reason, Simon decided to provide some kind of scaffolding.
“For example: Why would you write a message that is directed to me in such a formal way?” He asked, patiently. “Why would you ask me to pick you up as if you were asking me to help you commit a crime? Why would you act so uncomfortable around me when it’s not the first time that we’ve met? Why would you…?”
“Because it’s you.” Nova answered, avoiding eye contact.
And he expected that answer, yes. But, at the same time, he expected to understand the statement once it slipped out of her mouth.
However, he didn’t.
“Can you elaborate?” He requested.
Nova clicked her tongue as she rubbed her neck, staring at the dash right in front of her.
“...I can disappear if you want me to. Would that make you feel more comfortable?”
“No. No, no.” Nova nodded, waving her hands, finally looking at him. “That won’t be necessary.”
“Then...would you tell me what’s wrong?”
Nova thought about it. She squirmed in her seat. Gulped. Coughed. Squirmed again.
Then, playing with her own hands, she spoke.
“...I’m ashamed.”
“Ashamed of what…?” Simon tilted his head to the side. “Ashamed of who…? What exactly are you ashamed of? ...Dating Adrian?”
Nova flinched.
“I would never.”
A spark of pride illuminated his thoughts and his insides in general, but Simon tried to pay little attention to it.
“I’m just...ashamed. Of everything.” Nova said, sighing. “I…”
And she cut herself in the middle of the phrase, realizing that once again she wouldn’t be able to finish it.
Simon didn’t realize he was frowning until he felt the muscles of his face slowly giving in. He understood.
And he knew that anything that had happened during the Second Battle for Gatlon had been her fault. She might have contributed in some way but, at the end of the day, she was just a child.
A very confused and manipulated child who just needed someone to listen without twisting her words as they pleased.
“...I just think that...if I were you I wouldn’t like me either.” She wasn’t crying, nor did she sound like she was about to any time soon. There was so much resignation in her voice that her words weighted as much as a giant rock. “Hugh gave me his blessing to...you know, date Adrian…”
“I can recall giving you my blessing too.”
Nova tripped on her own words.
“I mean, you did. You both did.” She said. “But still… It’s because… because you want him to be happy. And I get it. I really do. And I understand because, like I said, I wouldn’t like me either...I know I am loved. I know I matter for some people...but I also know I did...bad things, and I carry this sort of cursed last name…”
She stopped and breathed for a second before continuing.
“And I…” She finally looked at him. “I get it. You don’t have to pretend you like me, after all that happened. After I stole stuff from your house; infiltrated into your system; caused a terrorist attack...You really don’t have to pretend.”
Simon blinked, and if it wasn’t for her specific and controlled body language, he would’ve thought she was making excuses or even joking.
But Nova was telling the truth.
And it was heartbreaking.
“Perhaps you should think outside the box and picture a scenario in which you realize we’re not pretending.” That’s the only thing he said.
“Perhaps you should realize that we love you and you matter to us.” He reached for her hand and softly touched her knuckles. Her hands were shaking. “And that, yes, we want Adrian to be happy, but we also want you to be happy.”
Nova’s eyes seemed to be covered in crystals, but she remained in silence.
“You’re part of this family now, Nova.” He smiled. “And I’m sorry, but you’ll have to deal with that.”
Nova sniffed, swallowing, while lacing her hand into Simon’s.
“Artino and everything?” She muttered.
“Artino it’s not what defines you.” Simon chuckled. “You’re Nova. Just Nova... And we’re really proud of you. Not ashamed.”
She smiled back at him, wordless, and Simon gave her a quick handshake before putting his hands around the wheel.
Because even now, that her walls were crumbling right before her eyes, she didn’t look like someone who wanted to be hugged at the moment, and he accepted and respected that.
“I was planning to take you to my favorite restaurant, but maybe we can prepare a homemade meal instead?” He suggested. “You know? In-laws being in-laws? … Not to brag, but I make the best lemon pie in the world.”
Nova chuckled. Relaxed.
Happy.
“Sounds great.” She said, nodding.
“Excellent.” Simon turned on the engine.
“Let’s go home.”

Songwriter!Hongjoong
You finished eating dinner near 8 pm and laid on the couch after doing the dishes.
After having patiently waited for your boyfriend to come home, you decided to go to bed as the clock neared midnight, still no trace of him.
It’s only when you washed your face and applied your serum that you changed your mind.
Putting on your shoes and your coat, you grabbed the plastic bag carrying the Tupperware filled with the food you had prepared for dinner and made your way out the door.
You weren’t keen on walking alone at night, but fortunately, his studio wasn’t that far, so you managed to make it safely there.
Knocking on the wooden door, you received no answer, so you slightly pulled the door open, only to be met with silence.
Hongjoong had noise-cancelling headphones latched on his ears, head bobbing at a certain rhythm as he scribbled some lyrics in his brown leather notebook.
The notebook he carried everywhere, even when he was around you.
Sometimes, he would get inspiration just by watching you sleep, read or cook. Writing down whatever crossed his mind, he never showed you what they said.
However, you paid no mind to his privacy. You respected that he kept it a secret, you did the same with your poetry book.
You knew how it felt when someone read pieces of art you’ve created, you feel naked and exposed to the reader, and it made your guts churn of anxiety when someone even tried to look into your notebooks.
But now, you had a problem to deal with. How do you make yourself noticeable without scaring your boyfriend to death?
Banging your fist on the door didn’t work and calling his name didn’t work either.
He jumped out of his skin when you softly placed a hand on his shoulder, a yelp unintentionally coming out of his mouth.
Turning around, he noticed your figure and laid a hand on his chest, the other grabbing your forearm as a sign of affection.
“Sorry baby, I didn’t know how to make myself noticeable.” You said with an apologetic look, but Hongjoong waved it off.
“It’s okay, sugarplum. Are you okay? What are you doing here?”
“Well, since it’s past midnight and you weren’t coming back, I decided to bring a piece of home to you and brought you this.” You lifted the plastic bag and handed it to him. It was his turn to look at you, remorse filling his eyes as he realised that he lost the notion of time and stayed behind at the studio to produce.
“Thank you baby, but I’m sorry,” he mumbled, and he stood up, hugging you tightly as he kissed your cheek. “What did I do to deserve you?”
“It’s nothing, baby. You should eat now, it’s going to cool down,” you whispered as you let go and he sat down, drawing another chair to have you by his side. He kissed your temple before you rushed him to eat, noticing his eyebags and his tiredness written all over his face.
You were getting tired as well, but Hongjoong was a hundred times worth it to stay up late at night, to see him with a bright smile and adoring eyes on his face as he tasted the food you cooked.
Seonghwa
Tumblr media
CEO!AU
“Hello Miss, where can I find the office of Mr Park?”
“Park Seonghwa?” the receptionist said, and you nodded, replacing a piece of hair behind your ear. “The head department is on the 19th floor, at the far end of the left corridor.” You thanked her and made your way to the elevators, waiting with other employees.
You greeted people you knew by sight with a nod and a smile, going to the floor reception. Some people stopped talking, listening to your words.
“Excuse me, is Mr Park Seonghwa here?”
“Yes, but he’s currently in a meeting. It’ll end in a few minutes,” she said, looking up what seemed to be his schedule on the computer. “Do you have an appointment with him?”
“Oh no,” you stuttered as you could almost feel his coworkers’ eyes on you, “I’m just his wife, and I need to give him something he forgot at home.”
“No problem, I’ll guide you to his office. Please follow me,” she announced, standing up, her heels clicking on the white tiles. You awkwardly smiled and bowed at his colleagues and followed the secretary, thanking her as she showed you the door of his office.
Your husband appeared a couple of minutes later, reading a file while talking on the phone. You cleared your throat, and Seonghwa looked up, his phone almost falling from the shoulder that was pressing it against his ear.
“Can you please fix a schedule with my secretary, I have a lot of work to deal with right now. Yes, yes thank you. Have a nice day too. Goodbye Sir.” he ended his phone call, sliding his smartphone in his pants pocket.
Tenderly looking at you, he smiled and approached you.
“Honey, baby. I didn’t expect you to see you here,” he warmly said before capturing your lips in a sweet yet passionate kiss, an arm wrapping around your waist.
“I’m because my husband, whose head is constantly into business, forgot his lunch before going to work this morning,” you stated as you lifted the brown paper bag, his eyes widening as his shoulders softly subside in relief.
“What did I do to deserve a wonderful wife like you?” he asked as he took the bag, kissing your cheek at the same time.
“I don’t know, but your wonderful wife would appreciate that her husband wouldn’t forget his lunch every day because she’s taking time on her lunch break to bring the food to him.” You arched a brow, and he chuckled, his arm never leaving your waist.
“I love you,” he muttered, and you softly kissed his lips.
“I love you too. Enjoy your lunch darling,” you said as you made your way towards the door, shooting him a smile before walking away.
Little did you know that once you were out of sight, he went out to the lunchroom to eat his food - something that he never did -, showing off the fact that his wife came to bring him lunch.
He earned the complaints and whines from his colleagues, whose partners didn’t even look at them when they came home.
And with that, he asked his secretary to cancel a meeting in the early evening to come home earlier than you, preparing you a nice, lovely dinner to thank you for your gesture.
Yunho
Tumblr media
Architect student!Yunho
In the small apartment that you shared with your lovely Yunho, you were about to prepare dinner, but you realised that there was nothing in the fridge.
Quickly turning off the stove, you put on your shoes and jacket and made your way out the door, a quick trip to the convenience store.
You arrived in front of the store as the sun was setting, the last rays of sunshine hitting the windows, sending beautiful scenery in front of you.
You knew that Yunho was working hard, as much as you did, but you wanted to surprise him a bit, so you decided to buy the ingredients to cook his favourite food.
Packs of meat, vegetables and rice in your bag, you were off to go home.
Riding the bus, you checked that you had everything and stepped off at your stop.
Yunho hadn’t moved from his spot while you were absent. He was still focused on his work, an HB pencil in one hand and a ruler in the other.
You placed everything down on the counter and started working on your duty.
Boiling water, grilling the meat and stirring the vegetables in a pot. You were so in your thoughts that you didn’t even register your boyfriend walking in the kitchen, sneaking his arms around your waist while prepping your shoulder with kisses.
“What’s cooking, good looking,” you snorted at the pun, and he chuckled, kissing your cheek as you cooked the meat while stirring the veggies.
“Open up, handsome,” you say as you bring a piece of meat to his mouth with the spatula. He opened his mouth, and you dropped the piece of meat on his extended tongue, munching on it after kissing you.
“Maybe two more minutes? But otherwise, it’s perfect, I liked the way you seasoned it, baby,” he stated, and you smile, stirring the food for a couple more minutes.
While eating, Yunho looked exhausted but happy. He did a little happy dance when you placed the plate in front of him, earning a kiss on the cheek for taking care of everything.
“I know we can get pretty busy with college and work,” he started before taking a sip of water, the food feeling extremely hot in his mouth, “but I’m glad we established a pattern of regularly eating together,” he admitted, smiling as he reached across the table for your hand.
“It feels good to be just the two of us, it’s sometimes tiring to have someone around constantly,” he nodded at your words, his thumb softly rubbing your knuckles.
“You’re right, our friends can get pretty hectic,” he chuckled and so did you, the subject of the conversation coming back on studies.
“So, how’s your project doing?” you demanded, and he just shrugged.
“It’s sometimes hard to get inspiration, but once I get it, everything goes smoothly,” you nodded and kept listening as your partner explained his work, a passionate sparkle in his eyes, outshining the ceiling light hanging above your heads.
“So yeah, we’ll see how it goes. Normally, if I didn’t mess up too much, my professor should be happy about the plans.”
“Why wouldn’t he be happy?” you questioned as you took the last piece of food that you had on your plate before crossing your cutlery.
“I mean… There are elements of my imagination in my work,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck, his warm hand leaving yours, “but I took into account every piece of advice that you gave me since the beginning of my work, and honestly, I think I wouldn’t have gotten this far without them.”
“Oh shut it,” you snorted at your boyfriend, but immediately calmed down as you noticed the same serious expression on his face, “are-are you serious?”
“Dead serious,” he smirked, and you both stood up, going back to the kitchen to fill up the dishwasher.
“But you’re the one majoring in architecture, not me,”
“I know,” he retorted as he wiped the counter, “but it sometimes helps to have an outside point of view. Someone who doesn’t constantly have their nose in the theory and lecture notes is very helpful for creativity. You’re my muse Y/N, you have such amazing ideas that everything seems brighter and easier when you help.”
You chuckled at your boyfriend’s praise and went for a hug, squeezing him tight around you.
“I’m so happy that we’re together,” you said as you laid your head against his chest, his hand going into your hair.
“You don’t know how much I love you Y/N,” he said as he kissed the crown of your head.
“I think I have an idea,” you said as you looked up at him.
“No, you don’t, I love you more than you can ever see or imagine,” he mumbled as he pressed his lips on yours in a sweet kiss. He was giving you all the love and affection he had for you in this kiss, and you felt complete.
Yeosang
Tumblr media
Idol!Yeosang
Waking up to the sound of your alarm, you were quick to turn it off to not wake up your boyfriend sleeping next to you.
Forcing yourself to start your day this early is such a pain in the ass, but your income makes it motivating and worth it. Plus, you wanted to save time for tonight because you knew how lazy you could get when it came to cooking.
So, at 6 am, you put on an apron over your pyjamas and started cooking the meal for tonight - Yeosang’s favourite - while preparing your breakfast at the same time.
Being good at multitasking has its perks after all.
Around an hour and a half later, you were done with cooking and washing the dishes, now getting ready to go to work.
The sun was rising, making the task of getting out of your comfortable apartment a little less painful.
Yeosang didn’t move an inch when you closed the main door, still dead asleep in your shared bed.
It was his first day off after going a few months without truly resting, and you could tell that his body needed it. When he came home last night, he was slow and could barely keep his eyes open during the show you chose to watch, he was tempted to use your shoulder as a pillow.
But it was one of the rare times that he could spend alone with you so he wouldn’t let that pass.
It was finally midday when you looked at your phone, still no news of Yeosang.
Knowing how tired he was, you didn’t worry about it, he was probably still asleep.
And you were right, his body went into recovery mode.
He woke up around two in the afternoon, shaken awake as a truck honked just under your windows.
Yeosang was still tired even though he slept for over twelve hours, so he decided to stay in bed for a bit longer.
He finally got out of bed around three as the rest of the group asked to play a bit of Among Us with them.
He stayed behind the computer for the rest of the afternoon, deciding to go for a run as the day was coming to an end, only eating a banana while he was getting ready.
It smelt like you had cooked something this morning, so he wanted to wait a bit until you came home to eat with you.
You were about to close the door behind you when you heard a familiar low voice.
“Y/N, wait!” Yeosang was in his sports equipment, slightly out of breath as you let him in.
“Hi,” you said with a smile as you swiftly pecked his lips. You both took off your shoes, hurrying your boyfriend to take a shower as you entered the kitchen.
You could finally settle down to eat when he appeared from his shower, making your way towards you before prepping your neck with kisses, asking about your day.
“Woah, you cooked my favourite dish?” he asked as you put a plate in the microwave.
“Yes! I figured out that you’d appreciate eating something special on your free day,” you replied, and Yeosang hugged you tightly from behind, giving you a big smooch on your cheek.
“Thank you, love,” he mumbled against your skin as a ‘ding’ drowned his voice out.
You both sat down on the couch, your plate in hand and enjoyed the food and each other’s company for the rest of the evening.
San
Tumblr media
Hacker!San
“Sannie?” you asked as you walked into his dimmed bedroom, his computer screens being the only sources of light in the room, alongside with LEDs ornating the walls.
Headphones screwed on his ears, he rapidly typed on his computer, lines of coding appearing on the screen. San couldn’t hear you, he was a tad bit too focused on his task to pay attention to his surroundings.
As a way to make yourself noticeable, you turned on his bedside lamp, startling him as he took off his blue light glasses, Grime blasting from his headphones as he let them fall around his neck.
“Sweetie, do you need anything?” he said as he spun his chair around, observing you.
You were balancing a plate, a glass filled with coke, a napkin and some cutlery on a trail, carefully making your way towards your boyfriend as you tried not to spill anything on his fancy setup.
“Dinner’s served,” you sweetly chanted as you finally laid the trail in front of him, the smell of fresh, homemade food invading his nostrils.
“Thank you, baby, you’re amazing,” he said as he encircled an arm around your waist, making you fall on his lap. You smiled as he laid a soft kiss on your upper arm, grabbing the fork with his other hand before bringing the food to his mouth. He gratefully hummed and nodded as he munched on it, shooting you a wink as he looked up at you.
“It’s delicious baby girl,” he mumbled after swallowing, directly taking another bite. He lightly frowned as he didn’t see a plate for you. “You already ate?”
“Yeah, I called you a couple of times from the kitchen, but you seemed busy so I didn’t want to bother you,” you said as you shyly tightened your ponytail, a disappointed look growing on his face.
“Y/N, babe,” he started, tightening his grip around your figure as he put the fork down, “you should’ve yelled for me to come to eat with you... You’re my girlfriend, coding and hacking come after you, okay? I love you more than anything, I can and I will put everything aside to spend time with you. So next time, I’ll come downstairs to eat with you, alright? I don’t want to know that you’re eating alone in our home.”
“Yes Sannie, but-”
“Shht, there are no buts,” he said as he kissed you on the lips, keeping on eating the food you cooked for him with you still on his lap after he made sure that this wouldn’t happen again. You watched your boyfriend filling his stomach and talked with him about everything, just catching up on the last few days that you spent separated from each other.
“I love you darling, thank you for the amazing food,” San said as he cupped your face, placing a big, soft kiss on your cheek.
You giggled and slightly moved his beanie, being able to play with the hair at the back of his head.
“I love you too San, I do,” you whispered as you straddled him and rested your head on his collarbone, his hand rubbing your back up and down your spine.
“Wanna cuddle?” he suggested, and you were about to say no since he looked busy, but you caught yourself just on time, his light scolding coming back in your mind.
“Yes, please,” you mumbled, and he approved, removing his headset from his neck and shook the beanie off his head, replacing his hair in a somewhat correct way.
“Alright,” he softly mumbled while wrapping his arms around you, carefully standing up as he laid kisses on your exposed skin. It didn’t matter where it was, every spot that he saw some skin, he had to kiss it.
And that’s how you spent the rest of the night cuddled in San’s arms, his cold hand drawing circled on your stomach, sending shivers in your body as he soothingly rubbed the skin.
Mingi

Dancer!Mingi
You huffed as you nonchalantly threw your phone on the table, your boyfriend being unreachable as you called him for the nth time tonight.
You knew that he was training and improving his dancing skills, but you wished that he could take small breaks here and there.
Not to text you back, you could wait, but for his sanity and health.
There’s a reason between working hard and overworking yourself.
And Mingi seemed to struggle to distinguish the difference between the two notions.
You never said that it was easy, you were struggling as well, but sometimes you wished that he’d understand it better than you do.
The clock neared midnight, and he still wasn’t home. You started getting slightly irritated as he was probably overworking himself and not eating.
But you couldn’t blame it for that, you did the same when you had big exams or assignments coming up, you tended to ditch breaks and skip meals.
So, since you were caring about your boyfriend’s well being, you stood up and went to the fridge, where a container filled with the potion you had prepared for your boyfriend was.
Putting on a warm sweater and some pants before making your way out, locking the door behind you.
You took a longer road to go to his practice studio, but you found with relief that the convenience store was still open, sighing in relief as you read that it wasn’t going to close anytime soon.
You took drinks for the two of you and some extras as you thought that some of the boys could be still practising, paid and headed to the practice room.
When you arrived, you waved at San, who looked exhausted and sweaty, surprised to see you out at this hour.
“You’re here for your lovely Mingi?” he teased as he declined to give you a side hug due to his current state.
“Yes, I was getting worried since he wasn’t coming home,” you declared, and San smiled, finding adorable that you were looking after your boyfriend.
“You can go, he’s still in the practice room, he’s the only one left.” you thanked him and gave him one of the spare drinks that you bought since you didn’t know who would still be there with your boyfriend. His dimples appeared when he thanked you, and you wished him a good - yet short - night of rest before entering the building.
When you arrived in front of the practice room door, you noticed your boyfriend dancing through the window, and you could see that his movements were slower and less energised than usual.
You slowly opened the door, your eardrums being attacked by loud music, the bass resonating in your stomach as you made yourself seen.
When Mingi saw you, a sort of relieved yet guilty look appeared on his face as he went to the stereo to lower the music.
“Hey,” he said in a whisper, eyes carrying a truck of guilt in them.
“Hi babe,” you said as you handed him the plastic bag, “I knew it. I knew you wouldn’t have eaten, so I went out and bought this for you,” you said as you sat down together, in the middle of the room.
Mingi was more tired than he wanted to show. You had identified a pattern within him, his looks on his face and his figure betraying him. When he was as hunched over as he currently was, you knew that his back was hurting and that he was overworking himself.
However, you didn’t say anything, your behaviour and gaze unintentionally telling him what your opinion was. The silence was the best option. You were both exhausted, and the last thing you wanted to do was to start a fight this late in the evening.
“Thank you for taking care of me, Y/N,” he said before clenching his jaw to stifle a yawn, but you caught it.
“You’re welcome honey, but you know my opinion on your behaviour,” you added, and he nodded, eating his mouthful.
“I know, I know,” he sighed and kept on eating while you opened the two soda cans laying in front of you. Mingi took a few gulps of it, and you got another one from the plastic bag, your boyfriend looking at you with wide eyes.
“But, let’s not talk about this now, the last thing I wanna do is get in an argument with you,” you said, and he listened, thanking you as you handed him the can. “I already barely see you during the week, so I don’t want to get into a fight when I have an opportunity to see you,” you sighed but smiled anyway, Mingi’s guilt increasing in his heart.
“I’m sorry-”
“Shht,” you said to your boyfriend as you gently rubbed his back up and down, applying some pressure on spots that you knew were aching. “Are you coming home soon or do you plan on sleeping in the guest room in the building?” you asked as you watch your boyfriend take another bite of the food you had prepared for the two of you.
“Let me finish this amazing food, and we’re going home,” he answered, and you nodded, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek. “It’s very tasty by the way,” you knew that he was trying to change the subject and you appreciated the effort, trying to forget his neglect of self-care and simply smiled at him.
When he finished his meal, you stood up and put everything in the trash, noticing in the mirror that Mingi struggled to get up, a grimace abruptly replacing the smile he was giving you moments ago. As soon as you turned to face him, he tried his best to erase the pain off his face. You didn’t raise it, but you made a mental note to yourself to try and reason him later. And, if it wasn’t working, you’d call Hongjoong for help. Maybe he’ll listen to him.
The walk home was silent, quite awkward. Your boyfriend tried his best to be as natural as possible, but his back pains were making him hiss and silently groan in pain at almost every step he took.
“Okay, maybe I did a bit too much tonight,” he said as his voice hesitated, alerting you. He looked broken, his bottom lip between his teeth as he kept on walking to your place, feeling a wave of relief as your apartment building came into sight.
You held his hand and grabbed his forearm with your other free hand, helping him to walk until you finally arrived in front of the elevator.
As soon as you entered your home, you sped to the bathroom and ran a warm bath, sprinkling some relaxing salt in it before helping Mingi to take off his shirt.
Once he was done, you helped him to get out of the tub and took care of him. He stared at you in awe as you dried his hair with the blow dryer and assisted him in putting on his pyjamas before walking him to bed.
Quickly doing your nighttime routine, you walked to your bed with heating patches as your boyfriend was already lying on his stomach, the most relieving position for him to sleep into. You slightly pressed some areas in his back, and you applied some patches where he grunted more loudly.
“Alright, now rest, baby,” you kissed his cheek, and he extended his hand to grab yours.
“Thank you for everything, baby,” he said as you shook your head with a faint smile, feeling the tiredness getting the best of you.
"It's okay, Mingi," you whispered as he lifted your linked hands to his mouth, kissing the back of your hand, a loving gesture that you particularly appreciated.
“Sleep well, baby, and think about what we’ve talked about at the studio, okay?” you mumbled, giving him one last kiss before falling asleep, still holding his hand.
“I love you,” Mingi mumbled before falling asleep, as well.
Wooyoung

College AU
Entering the library, you tried your best to hide the plastic bag from the librarian, hoping that she wouldn’t notice the smell of food following you like your shadow.
You weren’t allowed to bring food inside the library, school authorities were scared that you’d stain the books or not clean the tables, which was the case when you went to work in the library.
You had always found this disrespectful that people would leave their trash on the tables without cleaning, it exasperated you.
Why was it so complicated to put your trash in a bin?
But since you thought that you were quite a clean, hygienic student, you allowed yourself to sneak in food for you and your friends.
When you arrived near your friends, Mingi was the first one to spot you, hungry for the content of the plastic bags you were carrying.
Your friends discreetly clapped their hands as you arrived as a hero at the table. You shushed them when they got a bit too excited over the food, reminding them that you weren’t supposed to eat there.
Since you were the one that went and bought the food, you were the one distributing the small containers the Chinese takeout the employees had put the food in.
Wooyoung was the only one who was kind of sulky because he wasn’t fond of the place you bought the food from since that event. That event where one of the cooks had put in a sauce containing bell pepper, and he hated them.
He always associated this restaurant with this event, and now he doesn’t set foot at this establishment anymore.
But before he could even say anything, you took the container in front of him and gave him a blue bento box, making him frown yet didn’t say anything.
“Enjoy, everyone!” you whispered as you all started to eat.
You slightly observed your friend’s reaction next to you as he opened the container.
Wooyoung discovered that his food had nothing to do with Chinese takeout. It was homemade food, cooked by you and his eyes opened wide.
You giggled as he took his fork and started eating hastily, munching on the food with closed eyes and a content look on his face.
“Is it good?” you questioned, and Wooyoung eagerly nodded, taking another bite as he didn’t even swallow his first one.
“It’s perfect,” he answered, rice almost falling from his mouth as it was full. Hongjoong, who was sitting next to you, slightly elbowed you in the ribs, a smug look on his face.
Wooyoung wasn’t expecting the fact that you would make a detour to your apartment to take and heat homemade food just for him.
He was touched, but now he was too focused on devouring his plate to care about anything surrounding him.
A few moments later, as he had finally emptied the lunch box, he rested back a bit, a hand on his stomach.
“Wow, I’m full,” he said as a hiccup took over him, immediately slapping his mouth as the sound came out of his organism.
“Did you see at the pace you ate? Y/N isn’t even done yet,” you puffed as Seonghwa took you as an example, known among your friend group that you were the quickest to shove your food down your throat.
“It was worth it, though,” Wooyoung said, and you shook your head, the indirect compliment sending warmth to your cheeks.
“And what do you say to Y/N?” Hongjoong said before taking a sip of coke as if he was a mother scolding her child.
“Thank youuuuu,” he said as his voice trailed on the last word, resting his head against your forearm, only to have you put your fork down and ruffle his hair, a way you use to say “you’re welcome” when your mouth was full.
Once you were all done with eating, you placed everything back in the plastic bags and started working again, Wooyoung’s head never leaving the spot on your upper arm.
You didn’t mind him, you were sometimes adjusting his head as your muscles started getting sore, but nothing much.
A while later, as you wanted to stretch your arms above your head, you woke Wooyoung up, his head almost slamming on the table as you moved your arm.
“Mmh?” he said as he woke up, wiping the fatigue away from his eyes, nodding as you asked him if he was alright. “Food coma is kicking hard right now,” he added, and you smiled, relieved that he felt a bit better after his nap.
“It’s okay, but you need to go to bed now, it’s getting late,” you said as you packed your stuff in your backpack, putting your coat back on.
“You’re going home already?”
“Yes, it’s almost midnight, and I have a presentation tomorrow at eight,” you explained as a pained smile drew on his face, and you agreed with him by nodding.
“I’m out now, good night guys!” you said to your friends as you stood up, waving goodbye as some of them looked like they would leave this place near dawn.
You bid farewell to the librarian as well and braved the freezing night, hurrying home as not to catch a cold.
And run into someone suspicious and creepy but that’s another thing.
“Y/N!” someone said behind you as you paused in your steps, recognising your friend’s voice.
“Woo? Aren’t you staying with them?"
“No, I’m tired, I honestly don't know how I'm still awake,” he said, and you started walking again with him by your side.
“And…” he stopped in his tracks, and you frowned but imitated him. “I wanted to thank you for being considerate and caring towards us, but particularly towards me,” he said, and you chuckled, waving it off.
“Of course, you are all my friends after all,” you said with a smile as you looked at your friend, who had an indecipherable look on his face.
“That’s... that’s the problem, Y/N,” you looked at him confused and blinked, not knowing where he was coming from.
“What do-”
“Y/N, I like you,” he blurted out, your eyes widening in surprise, not expecting him to confess right now, in the middle of the night in the freezing cold when you could both fall asleep standing up. “More than friends,” he added, and you nodded while looking away, feeling the red spreading on your cheeks. Your friend took a step closer and cupped your face with his cold hand to make you look at him.
“What about you? I've been dying to know, even if you don't feel the same,” he said in a breath, and you inhaled sharply, confused about the sudden question.
“I- I think I do too b-”
“That’s all I needed to hear,” he said, and you suck in a breath, anticipating his next move.
“Can I kiss you?” Wooyoung asked, face dangerously close to yours, his eyes going back and forth between your eyes and your lips.
“Of course.”
Jongho
Tumblr media
College AU, Student abroad AU
“Mom?” you asked as you came into the living room, your iPad with a Chrome tab opened in hand.
“Yes honey?” she answered, looking up from the TV, your dad slightly huffing as he couldn’t hear the news.
“You know Jongho, right?” she nodded at her words, initiating you to keep going, “I’ve just gotten off the phone with him, and he seems very sad and down,” you explained as you sat down next to her.
Your dad’s attention immediately shifted to you and your mother as a boy was brought up in the conversation.
“Who-”
“Honey, no, it’s not her boyfriend,” your mother said, and your dad blinked, surprised by her reaction and shrugged, his attention going back on the telly. “And? Do you want to do something to cheer him up?”
“Well, I concluded that he’s a bit homesick, so I wanted to prepare a Korean dish for him. Wanna help?” Your mother agreed and stood up from her seat, fixing her glasses on the bridge of her nose.
“Sure!” she says as she washed her hand. “So, kimchi fried rice. What do we need?”
A few hours later, here you were, in the kitchen with your mom, right back from a trip to the convenience store to get the ingredients. You read a bunch of recipes and even watched a tutorial, trying your best to make it as similar as possible to the way they made it in South Korea.
You were struggling a bit at first, but everything turned out alright in the end, happily placing the mixture in a safe spot to let it rest for a couple of days. You were proud and satisfied with what you’ve created, truly hoping that it would heal his visible homesickness.
A few days later, you placed a container filled with your preparation in a paper bag along with your lunch and went out the door after saying goodbye to your parents, who were still eating breakfast. For once, you were happy to go to college, because you were dying to see Jongho and his potentially positive reaction.
The lectures go faster when you pay attention to the teachers, amazing. In no time, here you were in the cafeteria, eyes scanning the crowd to see your friend. Once you caught sight of your “target”, you made your way over and sat across from him, a gentle yet faint smile decorating his face when he saw you.
“Hi Y/N,” he said after swallowing a piece of his industrial sandwich. He looked heavyhearted and tired as if he had spent the entire night on his phone speaking with his family on the other side of the world.
“Are you okay?” you sweetly asked, and he weakly nodded, and you kept staring at him. “You sure?” you raised your eyebrow with a concerned look, and he just shrugged.
“My feelings didn’t really subside,” he stated as he referred to the conversation he's had over the phone with you the other night. You reached across the table and softly rubbed his forearm, the gesture making him weakly smile.
“I’m sorry, I don’t know how I can help,” you say, and he shook your head.
“I appreciate your kindness Y/N, but I don’t think you can do anything about this…” his voice faded as he thickly swallowed, the sight of your friend being so close to crying made you pout.
“Okay,” you said as you withdrew your hand, Jongho internally whining at the lack of warmth. You searched in your bag and pulled out two steaming lunch boxes, one for you.
And one for him.
“What is this?” he asked as he turned the box between his hands.
“It’s a surprise! Open it,” you smiled as you innocently opened yours, stabbing your hot food with your fork.
Taking the lid off, his eyes widened, going back and forth between the kimchi and you, sitting across from him with a soft smile on your face.
“You seemed so down last time we called,” you said as you ate a spoonful of your lunch, “so I made you a dish with my mom that I remembered you liking. I know it won’t bring your family to you, but it’s still something I guess,” you explained as Jongho pursed his lips, nodding at your explanations, never looking at you in the eyes.
It took you a few seconds to register what was happening, and you drop your fork in your box.
He was crying.
You stood up and sat down next to him, circling your arm around his shoulders.
“Oh Jongho,” you said in a concerned tone, “I didn’t mean to make you cry, I just wanted to make you happy. I know how hard it is when you miss your home and family, I just wanted to give you a bit of family love and warmth that you can’t have right now.”
“Thank you so much Y/N, really,” he said as he sniffled, wiping his tears with the back of his hand. He chuckled as he realised how emotional he's just gotten over food, and he turned to the side to give you a proper hug.
“Thank you,” he whispered in your ear and squeezed you tight against him, feeling his rapid heart beating against your chest.
“It’s okay, Jongho. Taste it first, I wanna know if we can make you some more further in the school year,” you gently rubbed his upper back and he smiled, grabbing your fork from your lunch box.
“It’s delicious,” he said as he munched on the kimchi fried rice, reaching for your hand and rubbing your knuckles.
He looked at you with such adoration in his eyes that you got shy and flustered, your hands going clammy as he wholeheartedly approved your work, taking another bite of the food.
“You’re welcome,” you said in a soft voice, and you smiled at each other, enjoying each other’s company for the rest of the lunch break.
