Dirty Secret Pt. 4 - Matt Sturniolo
(Fem reader x Matt Sturniolo, angst😞,this part is.. something else like wow.) also apologies bc this is the last part and I have ended it on a cliffhanger bc I’m not interested in this storyline anymore 😭🙏
Tumblr media
I know we’ve know eachother for what? At least 5 hours, but if he’s into me as much as he acts like he is.. why would he lie? Does he have a girlfriend? A wife? Kids? Is he a criminal? The options are endless. I think I’ll go for the most unreal one, he’s a fugitive, because I don’t want him to have a girlfriend.
I open my apartment door before throwing my bag on my couch and grabbing my phone off of the side table, and remembering that he had texted me.
I smile when I see the “unknown number” notification.
The text read “Your lips are so kissable.” I feel my face blush slightly before saving his contact ‘Matt❤️’ and replying with “you’re a flirt😂” cringey as fuck. I know don’t tell me about it. I go to my room and get into my pyjamas, take off my makeup, all that stuff and hopping into bed.
I check my phone and messages. Read 01:53am, my heart drops, that was 10 minutes ago why didn’t he reply? I thought he was ‘cleaning up’ doesn’t he have time to reply? I am a very, very untrusting person and I want to know if he’s just cleaning up or if he doesn’t like me or what. So I thought up a plan to go to his house and find out.
I get into my car and put my hood up, I changed into a black hoodie to try and stay incognito. I pull up outside of his house but around the corner so he doesn’t sus me out. The driveway gate is open but his house is heavily surrounded by security cameras, it is a big house though.
I don’t know why my first thought was breaking in, I could just go to the front door and knock but why do I feel so scared, what am I gonna say? I walk up the driveway and make my way to the door, before I could knock I could hear muffled yelling coming from the other side. It sounded like Matt.
“What do you mean you don’t know?!” He sounded angrier than I could ever imagine him sounding. An unfamiliar voice replies “I don’t know her last name dude.” The other man had a slightly scared tone in his voice. “I told you to find stuff out and what did you do? YOU SAT ON YOUR ASS FOR A WHOLE HOUR DOING FUCKING NOTHING.” Matt yelled so loud it caused me to jump out of my skin.
“Hey, don’t freak out on him Matt.” There was another person, it sounded slightly like Matt but different at the same time, probably his brother. “If you don’t tell me something good news I’m gonna fucking..” I knock on the door to distract them. “Get the door Chris.” I barely hear him as he’s stopped shouting.
I hear many locks unclick before the door opens and his brother opens the door, he looks exactly like Matt but also slightly different. “Y/n?” I hear Matt say from behind Chris. “What the fuck are you doing here.” His voice was rough and I peered past Chris to get a look at him, his eyebrows were raised and he looked, almost worried, but his eyebrows knitted together as his expression quickly switched to that of annoyance.
“I, uh, I wanted to uh.” I couldn’t get my words out, I felt scared and intimidated by how he was yelling. “I’m gonna go, come on.” Chris walked over to the other guy and dragged him down the hallway. Matt walked closer to me and I felt myself step back automatically.
“What.” He hissed, his body language has changed drastically since he had that text. “What were you yelling about?” I whispered, his eyes widened and the colour drained from his face. “What did you hear?” He studied my face before adding on, “you’re scared, why are you scared?” He spoke more rapidly.
“Who was that guy and who were you asking him to find stuff about?” I hesitated and kept my composure to stop myself from panicking. His eyes flashed with rage before he quickly switched to look like he was concerned. “I, uh. You’re so pretty you know.” He put both his hands on my shoulders before switching our positions so he was stood in front of the door.
“Don’t change the subject Matt, please.” I pleaded just wanting to know what the fuck was going on. “Please y/n don’t don’t do this.” He lent closer to me. I turn around quickly and look around before I see an open laptop and a piece of paper on top of a file. I start to walk over to it before Matt grabs my arm gripping tightly.
“Where are you going.” He slightly laughs to play off his aggression. “Get off me Matt you’re hurting me.” I look up at him and he lets go. I speed towards the laptop and he quickly notices what I was heading for and he try to grab at me as i reach the table.
I move the paper off the file and the name on the file reads ‘y/n’ and my jaw drops before I look over to the laptop which has a photograph of me in Matts car, a photo of me and him leaving the house which was taken from the security camera I suspect and a photograph of me in my mirror.. removing my makeup. This was taken after Matt had rushed off. Someone had taken this through my bedroom window. But my apartments on the first floor how did they get it?
I turn around to face Matt who was standing in front of the door his face plastered in fear. “What.. how do you have that?” I hesitantly ask before moving further away from him. He walks up to me slowly “Get the fuck away from me I swear to god.” My eyes start to well with tears and I see Matt is smiling softly at me to try and comfort me?
“Get away Matt what is this shit?!” I bump into a wall and he corners me, “y/n please calm down, you don’t understand I..”, “I don’t understand what? You have a picture of me from through my fucking window Matt!! I knew it was too good to be true.” I choked, he lifts his hand up to my face and I slap it away. “Don’t touch me.” I sobbed before falling down to the ground.
“Hey I know you’re scared and honestly it is fucking weird but hear me out.. please?” He begged and a tear falls down his cheek. I nod softly, just wanting to make the right choices so I can get the fuck out of here. “I knew you were special the second we started speaking, and I just wanted to find stuff out about you so we could.. bond. I don’t know who took that photo but I’ll make sure that they are dealt with when I do know. Please don’t be scared of me y/n, I can protect you.”
I look up at him before standing up and smiling at him. I quickly drop that facial expression and focus my eyes on the door causing him to turn around quickly. I use this opportunity to hurry and run further into his house. I don’t know why I ran away from the exit but there’s gotta be a back door, I remember one from the party.
“Hey!” I hear him yell, his voice becoming more of a growl and I hear him speeding up behind me, I quickly dart down a hallway before being met with a dead end and one room which was obviously locked. I feel Matt grab my arms and spin me around to face him. He starts to cry more “why did you have to run darling? You aren’t being very fair.” He said in manipulative tone before squeezing my arms harder. “You’re hurting my arms.” I spluttered, trying to catch my breath from hyperventilating.
“I think I love you y/n.” He smiles at me but I don’t smile back. “I haven’t even known you a day how can you love me?” His face drops and his brows furrow before he lets go of my arms. “Get the fuck out of my house.” His voice was cold and flat. I felt bad, did I upset him, what caused him to change so rapidly? I do feel like I love him too but I can’t be in love with a psychopath.
Or can I?
A/n: ok y’all what’s ur thoughts on psycho obsessive Matt? I wasn’t even gonna go down this path w this fanfic but I want it to be an interesting fic rather than just smutty and lovey dovey. Thoughts?

THE BEAR S3 Predictions
Just a mental note I'm putting out here to be able to revisit it when the time comes to check its level of accuracy. I have the feeling that S3 is going to be the season of the reconciliations.
The relationship between Richie and Carmy is completely broken after the walk-in incident and Richie walks from The Bear. He happens to get some kinda job offer and accepts it just to prove Carmy wrong. They will later spend a good portion of S3 trying to repair their bond. By the end of S3 (hopefully sooner) there should be a reconciliation of some sort between them and Richie should go back to The Bear.
Nat gives birth to her new "cub" and this brings the family together. There is a reconciliation with Donna, which in some capacity benefits not only the siblings but the entire team, the restaurant as a whole. Not exactly sure how this will play out, but Donna will quit being this negative and toxic influence on everyone. Maybe she gets clean because she takes this baby as a new chance to start over and be a better grandmother than the mother she was. IDK...
Marcus' mother dies and this juxtaposition of new beginnings, births, endings, death, etc is going to be a theme throughout the whole season, that is why I actually think this funeral will be the opener.
There will be some kinda flashback episode, like 7 Fishes or a montage of some memory that has a huge impact on one or more characters. I have my $ put on the Sundays, Mr. Adamu and lil Syd would spend at Mr. Beef's. I strongly disagree with the weak argument that just because the Berzattos are catholic, their restaurant didn't open on Sundays. The gastronomic industry cares very little about those traditions especially if the place is struggling. I bet they were open every Sunday part-time, just for lunch, to get all the demand of those who went to church just because business-wise it makes total sense.
Carmen will apologize to Claire. Not sure what she's gonna make of that apology, whether she's gonna accept it or not, I hope she doesn't. I'm pretty sure there will be no reconciliation here. I don't necessarily oppose Carmy having a romantic partner and as much as I ship SydCarmy like nobody's business, I'm 100% sure they are not gonna happen any time soon. Maybe and this is a HUGE maybe, they could be the perfect cliffhanger for S4. But that would be a stretch. Not that Store & Calo couldn't pull it off, but still. So, basically, I am all for a new love interest being presented to Carmen just to see how he responds to it. After Claire he should go back to his old lone-wolf ways, I need to test that behavioral theory though, so I need a new female character to do it.
Last, but certainly not least, Miss Adamu needs her man and I'm not talking about Bear. I want to know more about Sydney's past and see her letting her hair down, putting her records on, and all that jazz. So, maybe an old flame can re-appear in her life and they can try to "reconcile". This reconciliation shouldn't work either because she's now devoted to making The Bear work and is basically a workaholic and both, Carmy & her get into this synch of type As on Speed and Red Bull, non-stop working machines, well-oiled now that they had already learned from their mistakes and The Bear succeeds but Sydney's relationship with her guy from the past fails, again. The guy feels like a 3rd wheel and lets her know that she's not in a relationship with him but with her job. Sydney understands the subtext, and this break-up is actually a wake-up call for her. She starts seeing what we all shippers are already seeing. It's not just about work for her. Yes, The Bears are too absorbing and demanding, both, the restaurant and the chef, but she doesn't mind. She loves it. Love is the operative word here. This realization should hit her hard by the end of the season.
The background of all the things I just mentioned above will be the BOH, fast-paced, chaotic, and working like a Swiss clock, just like Carmy likes it.
Am I missing something? Probably. Can't wait to find out.
Bonus tracks: I am pretty sure the wedding will either be Teff's or Fak's.
And lastly: When Sydcarmy happens, it will "officially" start with something small and inane like Syd accidentally finding out Carm has been drawing portraits of her all along... CHECK THIS OUT, I think Storer & Calo have something like this in mind or along these lines, and it should come along in S3, minus the sex part.

Blind! Starscream part 4
I totally didn’t forget that I had made this AU, I don’t know what anyone is talking about nope how could I forget when I have so many ideas for this AU... in all reality though I apologize for taking so long to make this part.
angst time yay!!!
a little over a year of Starscream living with the Autobots he has become very skilled at moving around without help.  He’s just started on self defense and the Autobots trust Predaking to watch him while he trains outside. unfortunately while Starscream was practicing both he and Predaking were spotted by some Vehicons and they quickly went to tell Megatron about it.
a few days passed by and while Starscream was training he was attacked by the Vehicons and taken to the Nemesis (Predaking was fighting against vehicons hopped up on Dark Energon) After being dragged in front of Megatron Starscream makes the split second decision to hide his blindness.
Starscream pretends that he isn’t scared and makes it a point to follow Megatrons movement as best as he can. Megatron tells him “ I was planning to just offline you but it seems as if you still have a use” Starscream confused demands an explanation. Megatron laughs at the fact that Star demanded an explanation but tells him anyway. Shockwave wants Predaking back and the Autobots will come rescue Starscream.
Megatron proceeds to beat Starscream and when he finished he tossed Star to Knock Out and orders him to fix Starscream. Knock out drags Star to the med bay and begins to fix him up. when he was finished he grabbed Breakdown to be there when Starscream woke up.
When Starscream woke up he immediately attempted to escape not realizing that Knock Out and Breakdown where there. they stop him and once he is put back on the medical slab they question him. he refuses to answer their questions but they push and push until he explodes revealing to them that he’s blind and that he knew that he was going to be offlined now that they know.
they (Knock Out and Breakdown) look at him in surprise and look at each other. They nod and tell Starscream they’ll help him pretend he’s not blind as long as he can promise them to put in a good word for them with the Autobots when they themselves leave the decepticons. he quickly agrees to their conditions and they practice their act.
Megatron sends Soundwave to check on Starscream in the med bay and as soon as Soundwave sees Starscream he knows something is off. he thinks Starscream is being a little too observant of everything but he puts his suspicions aside and keeps them to himself. he decides that he’ll figure it out later as he drags Starscream to the communication room in order to show him to the Autobots.
As soon as the Autobots answer there is a brief moment of silence. Optimus is the first to speak asking if Starscream is okay. Starscream nods and says “it could be worse I could have become as blind as that earth creature the bat”  with this Optimus realizes that as far as he and Starscream ( Starscream and him?) know none of the Decepticons know Star is blind.
and I’m gonna leave it here. mwahahah cliffhanger!!! (Did you know that I sometimes think Cliffjumper’s name is Cliffhanger, no? well know you do.) anyway it shouldn’t take me long to make part 5 now that I am getting back into doing things but I'm not making any promises this time (mostly because I don’t know how long this burst of motivation will last)

Chapter 1
Break up with my ex girlfriend
Frat parties. Am I right? Worst part of college life. A lot of people drink to forget about their grades and how their lives went wrong, while someone’s just hoping to have some fun with them (if you know what I mean). For the first year, I hated them with passion, but it was before I met him. At a frat party. Oh, the irony! And then, frat parties were the only chance I had to actually talk to him. It didn’t take us long enough to start dating. I think that adults tell you fairy tales to make you grow up with a hope, the hope to find your real happy ending, your true love. Well, I wasn’t used to believe in them, but the year I spent with Tom… that was close to the definition of happy ending. The problem with happy endings? They don’t tell you what happens after them. And that’s because they’re a nightmare.
“Tell me that now or you’re not gonna find me in this bed tomorrow”, he says and there’s a part of me that wants to die right here and right now. I shake my head. I don’t want to do that. Not because I don’t feel anything for him, but I’m scared that this will complicate things between us and it’s the last thing I want. “Are you serious, Y/N? You really think that saying something like that during sex doesn’t count? Calling someone on the phone means something, even if you’re drunk as Hell. So tell me what you really feel about me right now or I swear, I’m out of this room. I’m out of this kind of weird relationship that’s going on between us for years,” Tom says and the veins on his arms draw a beautiful map on his body, in which the moles are cities and his eyes are volcanoes. They’re burning, unlike my skin, that is freezing because I’m not wearing anything at the moment. Except for my shame, perhaps. My insecurities, that never leave me. Even in front of Tom.
“You don’t mean that,” I try to say, my mouth dry. But he’s insanely angry. In another situation, it would be hot.
“I do, Y/N,” he replies. I swallow. His expression softens, like he’s in pain. He comes closer to me, brushing my cheeks with his hands. My eyes are full of tears. His words feel like a prayer on my skin. “Please, tell me”.
And even if I don’t wanna do that, my hands are tied. Even if that’s a lie. I remain in silence. One second after that, he’s gone. Tom always keeps his promises, after all.
2 months before
Harrison sat down with a strange look on his face. It only meant one thing for Tom: trouble. He sighed, throwing away the third cigarette of the day. Jacob raised an eyebrow, trying to get rid of the stench of smoke with one hand.
“I thought you wanted to quit smoking,” Jacob said.
“Relax, I only smoke before finals now,” Tom said. “What’s up, mate? Come on, talk”.
Harrison raised a corner of his lips in a smirk.
“Rumor has it, that Oliver’s got a girlfriend,” he said.
“No way! Jacob exclaimed.
“Oh, fuck me,” Tom said, laying on the grass with his hands behind his neck, glancing at a couple of girls who were passing by.
“I haven’t said the best part yet, though,” Harrison continued. Jacob urged him to speak further. “He’s gonna throw a party for his birthday and he’ll introduce her to his friends. But since we’re his friends, I was wondering why I haven’t told us anything about this gal in weeks. So I played Sherlock Holmes for a couple of hours and I found out that… we actually know this girl,” he said.
“I bet she’s someone of the campus,” Tom joked, as if it was obvious.
“I bet she’s someone’s ex girlfriend,” Jacob replied.
Harrison remained quiet, but he was smiling.
“You gotta be kidding me,” Tom said, astonished, while sitting on the grass again.
“I won!” Jacob yelled.
“Who’s she? I hooked up with…”
“Ex girlfriend, Tom. It’s not some random girl you hooked up with. She’s someone you remember very well,” Harrison said.
“So we’re talking about me, uh? Well, let’s see… is it Janine? We lasted two weeks, I wouldn’t be mad about her,” he shrugged. Harrison swallowed.
“It’s someone you would be mad about,” Jacob guessed. “And there’s just one person that you would be mad about”.
Tom’s eyes widened at the realization.
“He’s fucking dead”.
Two days after that conversation, here they were: the three of them were laying with their backs on the wall like they were sustaining it from falling down. Tom had threatened Oliver with a Dare to explain, mate?, but his answer was just an I’m sorry Tom, but she’s just your ex. I don’t have to ask for your permission. Or does this mean that you’re still not over her? So, since Tom values too much his pride, he said that he was over her and that Oliver was right, he didn’t have to ask for his permission. Oliver apologized for not telling him that before and then walked away, leaving Tom to smoke the whole pack of cigarettes. Tom was watching Oliver talking with Elizabeth, one of your friends, when he saw you and Zendaya arrive at the party. In his opinion, you were stunning. You immediately caught his gaze. You just never failed to amaze him, even after a year. His heart ached at the view, but it ached even more when you greeted Oliver. You gave him a kiss on his cheek, clenching your hand in a fist. It seemed like you were uncomfortable. So, he came up with a plan to save you.
“Wait for me here,” he said to his friends, then he walked fast to reach you. “Hey mate, happy birthday!” Tom said to Oliver, who hugged him.
“Thanks, Tom. I think that you already know Y/N, Lizzie and Z,” he said and you smiled along with your friends, even if you looked more surprised than happy.
“Of course, I do,” Tom said, looking directly at you. You looked down. “Could I please talk to Y/N? We haven’t been in touch for quite some time and I’d like to catch up with her,” he asked.
“Sure!” Oliver said, while Zendaya seemed looking at you with a concerned expression. You winked at her.
Tom made you move away from Oliver by brushing your back, walking to the next exit. He lowered his voice in order to talk with you only, speaking to your hear: “You look ravishing, darling”.
He noticed that you closed your eyes for a very long second, but you didn’t say a word about that.
“Are you here to show that you still own me or something?”
“I don’t own you, darling. You’re absolutely free to do anything you like,” he said, lighting a cigarette outside the building.
“Z said you wanted to quit smoking,” you said, furrowing your eyebrows.
“I only smoke before finals”.
“Finals were yesterday,” you replied.
“Are we here to talk about me or you? I noticed that you were uncomfortable with Oliver, but I thought that you were his girlfriend. Wouldn’t it be weird?”
You smirked.
“Oh, now I get it. You’re jealous”.
“Nah, If I’d be jealous, you would know, trust me,” Tom said, with a playful tone.
“What would you do?” You asked, curiousity eating you alive. You wanted to know so bad if he still had feelings for you.
“Don’t play with fire, darling. You’re gonna burn your pretty hands, otherwise,” he replied, running a finger over his lip. Shivers ran through your spine, but you hoped that Tom didn’t notice it.
“Don’t try to seduce me, Holland. You’re not gonna win this time,” you said, chuckling. “And for the record, we’re not dating. He’s just insistent,” you explained.
Tom looked inside and saw Oliver staring at the two of you. An idea came up into his mind and he couldn’t quite get rid of it. It was smart, but also terrifying. It was very dangerous, yet he had to try.
“We could be in a fake relationship. It could fool everyone,” he proposed.
You turned to look at him, astonished.
“Even after what happened?”
Tom’s eyes were locked with yours, but his facial muscles didn’t move at all. If he still was hurt by the reason that made you two break up, he didn’t show it to you.
“He’s coming here,” he said instead, glancing at Oliver.
“Tom, this is insane,” you kept going. “You said you couldn’t forgive me after…”
It happened all too fast. All the lights went out at the same time. Tom's lips were on yours in an instant. Everything was on fire, every inch of your body. Every cell your flash was made of exploded like a dying supernova. A moment later, someone snatched him from your hands, leaving you in the cold.
Oliver hit him. Tom laughed, nervously, but then he grabbed the collar of Oliver’s shirt and slammed him against the wall, angrily. You pounced on Tom, trying to pull him away from Oliver. At first, Tom looked at you confused, thinking that you just wanted to keep Oliver safe from him, but your eyes told him another story: you prevented him to be kicked out from the campus.
“I told you, you’d know,” he said, while wiping a trickle of blood from his mouth, pretending to be the tough guy he wasn’t.
“Guys, I think we should leave,” Jacob said, while Harrison was taking Tom away from Oliver by his arm.
“I thought we were friends, Tom,” Oliver said, an inch of hurting in his voice tone.
“That was before you came after the only thing I care about,” he said harshly. And then, he left with Harrison and Jacob.
That night, while Tom was cleaning himself of blood in the bathroom, Jacob was staring at him worried, while standing with one arm against the door jamb.
“You never told me what happened, you know, with Y/N last year. Haz doesn’t want to tell me, he thinks it’s up to you. You said that you were over her, but I don’t think you are, since what you did tonight,” he said. Tom kept wiping away the blood from his shirt, ignoring Jacob’s words. “Why have you broken up with her, Tom? It seems pretty obvious that you’re still in love with her”.
Tom gulped, while looking at himself in the mirror. He had tried to bury all of his memories deep down, but it seemed that now the demons wanted to come back and play with him once again. Maybe it had finally come the time to confront them.
When he spoke, his voice was low and hoarse: “Because she cheated on me”.

hi it's once again the author-name-ask anon, and you can call me cass if you'd like cuz judging by the shit that's gonna go down in the last act of asis... i will probably come crying and/or screaming in your inbox multiple times :)
speaking of the third act of asis, uhm excuse me ma'am I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR THIS MUCH PAIN RIGHT OFF THE BAT? like that first bit about being a college freshman hit so so so close to home and then the part where loki knocks on y/n's door...my heart literally clenched at that. i was sitting in my math class reading the chapter and i knew it was gonna be angsty but omg i was not prepared for it to be THAT sad.
also me being both a dumbass and an ace thought 'skipping your period twice' at the end meant like a period in school but goddamn when it clicked in my brain i SCREECHED. it came as such a surprise but you also put enough clues pointing towards it that i had a mental-keyboard-smash moment
i originally was so sure the twist was gonna be about narvi telling people that y/n and loki are together (also pls tell me narvi's gonna be ok despite y/n and loki's situation, that kid deserves every good thing in the world) and now i really feel like that 'i connected the dots' 'you didn't connect shit' meme because i really didn't connect shit lol
wow do i have so many emotions about this chapter and i will never look towards anything as much as i look towards the next asis update. sorry for this long-ass ask lmao i'm just dshkushkshkhjkahahoeiui, you know?
omg hi cass it's so nice to meet you/put a name to the author-name-ask-anon :P i am SO excited for you to continue to scream in my inbox. never apologize for long asks because they literally make my day and that high keeps me going for WEEKS. i thrive off this type of thing so thank youuuuuuuu
okay, first: I AM KIND OF V E R Y nervous for y'all because everyone's reactions to the ~emotionalness~ of this chapter was much more intense than i thought. i figured everyone would focus on the cliffhanger, which did happen (like i wanted hehe) but i didn't think everyone would focus so much on the intensity and feelings. i am so glad those aspects are resonating with everyone though, because i did work hard on honing in on specific details and making it clear how messed up y/n is right now. that being said, with all ya'll's feelings about how painful/angsty this chapter was, i am very worried about the february 3rd update. even more so about the one after that. i wrote it (the update after the 3rd) a week or two ago, and just proofread it this afternoon and it's... wow. it is a lot even for me, and i 1) wrote it and 2) know how everything ends. it still knocked me off my feet for a couple minutes.
i'm also glad you liked that first scene. i think i said it in an ask earlier, but i actually changed it right before posting this morning. originally that scene was the reader reflecting on how much she hated getting laughing gas at the dentist, even though all her friends loved it. she didn't like it because it made her so foggy and able to comprehend the world around her, but not take any action. obviously i connected that to her feelings of apathy. i scrapped it because i felt like it was too niche or specific, and would be unrelatable (or worse, weird in a not fun or quirky way). glad my very last second decision paid off!!
i LOVE that you thought she missed her classes omg 😂that's so funny. but yes i have certainly written some sex scenes to be very obviously unprotected. i was surprised at how soon people forget the first time they didn't use a condom (right before the reader met narvi), but at the same time... i very intentionally followed that up with the introduction. it makes sense bc i moved on from that real quick so y'all could look back on it and the other FIVE OR SIX TIMES dramatically. take a shot everytime loki doesn't wrap it up you'll be drunk before you know it.
it's totally fair for you to have thought narvi would tell someone about them! loki + y/n are lucky, so far only the people they're closest to know. being found out is certainly the main conflict of most professor AUs, so i think that's a totally reasonable guess. and oh my gosh, i love how invested everyone is in narvi. we, the asis fandom, will do anything to make sure that kid comes out unscathed and i think that's awesome. also omg the "you didn't connect shit" meme is one of my all time favs cass you are so funny i hope you know that.
gahhhh i am just so excited for y'all to read the next update and also! to have a new friend!!

TOG rambling
Hello! This post has to do with Andy and some revelations at the end of Force Multiplied. Spoilers I give aren’t super specific but they’re there, and I can’t promise they won’t bite.
This is also in response to a TOG discord question I couldn’t stop thinking about, regarding Andy’s history as compared to Nicky’s, as posited by Em | salzundhonig:
But Nicky's past as a crusader and his growth from his past was well received, surely that'll be the same with Andy right?
I apologize if these ramblings sound like a rant but I swear my intentions are in the spirit of debate/discourse, and they are not an attack on any individuals.
The TL;DR is: Andy has work to do. Hopefully Hollywood and Rucka don’t fuck that up.
Feel free to check/correct/call me out if I’ve misspoke anywhere here (I realize I still have a lot to learn) but IMHO, I don’t think a semblance of Andy’s growth will be well received. Or, at least, I’m not so certain it should be because, in the comics, I genuinely don’t think Andy has grown. At the end of Force Multiplied, she still defends her actions with the “this is how I grew up” argument, and says it was “a long time ago,” and as much as I love love LOVE Andromache the Scythian for her badassery and how she’s a vision of female empowerment, I can’t help but think about how I hear those words all the time from people defending themselves against racist and/or sexist comments from so-called bygone eras.
Wanna know a sad difference between those people and our beloved Andy? They apologize for what they’ve done, or who they were. As hollow as the words will sound, however unforgivable their actions, however self-serving the apology will be— Those Asshats apologize. Comic!Andy never does, not even when confronted by Nile, an African American woman who likely descends from slaves, and has undoubtedly experienced racism and discrimination on a regular basis. It’s been thousands of years and Andy doesn’t even know how to say sorry (if she ever does, kudos to whoever finds a timestamp/panel, and let me know!). Instead, Andy buries the truth of her actions with a load of justifications to the point that she becomes self-deprecating, calling herself “vermin,” concluding she’s no better than the apathetic, selfish, evil POS they hunt. She may have spent the past millennia with TOG, trying to make things right but then—
But then she gives up. She’s tired. She resigns because she doesn’t have it in her anymore to fight the injustice she once willingly and self-servingly participated in. So, on top of being incapable of apology, Andy also doesn’t vow to do better. She doesn’t accede to change.
If there is one reason for why “The Old Guard” is a fucking absolutely shitty title, is that it refers to people who refuse to accept new ideas and progress. We are in a fandom that has four canonically queer characters, three people of color, and two female leads! Maybe the irony is intentional but damn, why is it that Andy, PROTAGONIST #1, hasn’t completely caught up with the program?
And that brings me to why I think Andy’s reckoning will not be on the same level as Nicky’s. Because as popular as Kaysanova is, neither Nicky or Joe are the main protagonists of TOG.
We don’t follow Nicky or Joe (or Booker) into scenes. The men are strictly back-at-the-ranch, supporting characters. We follow Andy or Nile (who also have the most screen time, I believe, but fact-check me). Filmically speaking, we ought to value them with a measure of precedence. Their words and actions matter the most, especially Andy’s by nature of how everyone looks to her for guidance.
So, with all that in mind: How does one reconcile a beloved protagonist with a despicable past in slavery, of all things? In the wake of an international racial reckoning, how is a celebrated, white South African actress going to fulfill that role? How is production going to balance fantasy with reality? How are Rucka and other involved writers (Theron, Prince-Bythewood?) going to alter the original IP, while retaining the nuance of this moral quandry?
Forgive me for the overkill but: How is it going to happen?
I’m well aware that my thoughts are going down a rabbit hole, and I am definitely overthinking this, but as somebody who’s genuinely curious about whether Victoria Mahoney and the rest of the TOG crew will have the guts to confront the issue head-on, or if they’ll take the easy way out. Excise the bits that no one wants to talk about, much less watch in a feel-good film that TOG has become for many fans.
Whatever production ends up doing, I hope that 2O2G doesn’t end on a cliffhanging “pity Andromache” note because, damn, I’m gonna feel real uncomfortable scrolling through fandom posts, reading people defending slavery and giving the same “the past is a foreign country; they do things differently there” spiel, in order to protect a fictional character played by a conventionally-attractive cis heterosexual white woman.
(Also: If the past is so different from the present, why are there still calls for social justice? Why do ALL industries still lack diverse and equitable representation?)
Now, this is where I’ll go back to the original question and say: While I think Nicky functions well as an example for change/growth/redemption, I don’t think his change serves as a good comparison to Andy’s. I say this, even while I’m aware of double standards in gender, and even between the reception of gay characters vs lesbian characters vs etc. (re: I’m open to critique).
My line of thought stems from the fact that, canonically, Nicky always had Joe. The two have seemingly been inseparable from the moment they first killed each other. It’s likely that Joe would check Nicky whenever he said or did something wrong and offensive, and perhaps this symbiosis was mutual.
(I also have a feeling that many people easily disregarded the Christian/Muslim conflict because A) lack of knowledge in BOTH religions and B) the onscreen couple appear very much in love, especially when one is giving a beautiful monologue on the nature of their relationship. When we meet Joe and Nicky, we meet them at their best. Shout-out to interfaith couples who know more about this than my single (and secular) ass does, and might have more to say about this.)
On the other hand: Andy never had someone who was like how Joe was for Nicky. No one ever calls out Andy because A) she’s the oldest, B) she’s the lead, and C) her business card says ANDROMACHE OF SCYTHIA, WAR GOD. Yeah, she had Quynh/Noriko but— at the risk of yelling at Rucka for vilifying a queer woman of color (or praising him for not leaning on the stereotype of Asian passivity? idk, anyone got thoughts on this?)— Noriko is clearly not encouraging good behavior. Neither will Quynh if Netflix lets 2O2G be as faithful to the comics as TOG1 was.
Which means the Law 282 conversation might be…unavoidable? Somewhere along the line, we still end up in the hotel room with Andy, on the floor, pleading for her crew to not abandon her, even though she is the one who abandoned their cause.
This sets up a circumstance in which Fade Away might be spent trying to redeem Andy/Charlize Theron, bring her back to the “good side,” teaching her to be better— thereby highlighting her experience and “salvation,” rather than making a point of her past, and the reality of her actions. In other words, a “pity the white woman” fest.
(Because I’m crossing my fingers that TOG production/Netflix know better) In an effort to prevent that from happening, I wonder if Rucka will combine Force Multiplied with Fade Away for the 2O2G script. Given the series’ track record, I think it is feasible that FA’s release coincides with 2O2G’s, and that it finally resolves Andy. Whether by revitalizing her energy as a do-some-gooder, or finalizing her vulnerability by putting her 6,000 years to rest, thus handing off the reigns to Nile and a new generation of leadership.
The last thing I want to leave off with is: I don’t hate Andy. It’s a credit to Rucka and fellow writers (from film and fandom) that I don’t.
I might not love her character as enthusiastically as I used to, but that doesn’t mean I’m not amazed by her creation. She’s a female lead whose sexuality is not exploited by the male gaze; whose emotional vulnerability is not considered a hindrance to, nor an explanation for, her battle prowess; and whose unabashed queerness is not reinforced by cookie cutter stereotypes. Andromache the Scythian is AMAZING.
That doesn’t mean I’m going to excuse or ignore her most glaring and contemptible flaw. More than anything, I’d love to sweep her past under the carpet so that 2O2G can be problem-free. Like many people, I just want to enjoy a movie without getting triggered.
I want to see Quynh and Andy kiss and make up. I want to see Joe rocking Those Shorts, and a cheeky shot of Nicky appreciating his ass. I want to see Nile welcoming Booker back to the family again. Some form of group therapy would be chef’s kiss.
But something about glossing over/removing slavery from Andy’s narrative reeks of dishonesty, and reminds me that the (Hollywood) movie industry is full of people who do not want to be tainted with negative perceptions. Understandably, appearances are their livelihood— but that particular truth is something they still have to reckon with.

scwescola: DJEHSHWJJSJSN ENDING IT LIKE THAT REALLY? But this was so good! These two are absolute idiots 😂
Hello @scwescola (do you know, I only just now got your URL), I’m so glad you liked it! This ending wasn’t supposed to be a cliffhanger it was meant to be funny! At least ... I hope it was funny lol. Thanks for reading!!
maansiloves: i love these stupids so damn much....n i literally heard my heart pounded in ribcage n fell to my stomach with a thud reading the last line "we shud keep in touch" u said u left ur readers at cliffhanger n u did the same yet again dn know hiw m gonna survive waiting for the next..amazing story by amazing writer..thank u for this @phati-sari ❤️
Hi @maansiloves :) Eeeeee, I make no apologies for your heart’s dhak-dhak, though I’m proud of myself for writing something that evoked it! Thank you very much for reading. And omg I swear this one wasn’t meant to be a cliffhanger, I’m so sorry!
jalebi-weds-bluetooth: ASDFGHJKL I AM SPEECHLESS. Keep in touch, ugh... I'll return when I can speak more. *dramatically flopping in bed in happiness*
Hahaaha, I’ll await your three-ask long message full of praise and fave quotes and detailed analysis of exactly how stupid Arnav is AJ @jalebi-weds-bluetooth -- thank you very much for reading and for being so supportive and kind.
pakki-ya-nahin: Omg This is so beautiful PS! Especially the end of the chapter. Sooo good 👌
Thank you very much, PyN @pakki-ya-nahin this is so sweet! So, the beginning and the end of the chapter practically wrote themselves. It was the middle that gave me grief. For a long time, Khushi kept saying no -- either verbally or through her body language -- and Arnav kept pushing. I hate writing Arnav so blatantly ignoring consent. It took me a while to fix, but I really like the result!!
muttonthings: Omg Omg Omg I can't wait for Khushi's response. Payal please don't interrupt before she does
Hey @muttonthings ❤️Hahah no0o0o0o0o0 it’s not meant to be a cliffhanger omg I suck at this don’t I? The next scene is a little different (though I hope still enjoyable, and it will answer your question). Thanks for reading!!
thecharlesboyle: Ohhh my god,so good! I mean,Laad governor and Sanka Devi on a gol gappa date!! ❤️❤️😍
It was about time they went on a date @thecharlesboyle!! After all the whining and pining lol. I’m glad you liked it, thanks for reading!!
barshifan: Oh man 😞 the ride ended too early not just for our bitwa but also for us all readers :D Thank you PS🤗
Thanks for reading @barshifan :) Yeah, to be fair, bitwa wanted a few more hours, maybe some wining and dining, some making out in the back seat. Oh well, we can’t always have what we want ... ;)
wasnikkkk: these two idiots. “we should keep in touch”. didn't expect that ahh. so gooodd!❤️
I didn’t expect it either @wasnikkkk -- I’ve always wondered how they’d move forward in this story. Many of my stories have some formalised type of communication -- Moments has the letters, Charade has the ask game, Tere Bin can’t be left behind! Hopefully this takes the story in the right direction. Thanks for reading!!

okay, i’ll admit upfront that this episode was slow in the ship department. it happens. they have 2+ hours of content to write every week, which means sometimes that content can’t focus on just the same two people and their one storyline of accidentally falling in love with one another. that being said, it was still a very good episode for edser, even if they didn’t have a ton of screen time together. yes, they are both angry at each other (highlighted best when they talk to one another’s respective mother figures and defend their own side in the couple’s fight). but they are also both missing and pining after one another. they spend the majority of the episodes finding ways to accidentally run into one another and the other half finding ways to avoid one another. its frustratingly fun to watch, but definitely something that has a short shelf life. lucky for us, the writer knows this, meaning that we end the episode with the main conflict being resolved: eda finds out who stole the patent and goes to serkan to prove her innocence. serkan, very belatedly, tells eda he doesn’t need proof, he believes her. he admits he has serious trust issues but that he knows she was innocent of his charges regardless of proof. unfortunately for serkan, he forgets the most important words “i am sorry” and “i apologize for how i treated you.” since no apology was truly made, eda doesn’t accept it. instead, she hands back the ring and tells him they are finished. its a wonderfully angst filled cliffhanger. do i wish we had gotten to that point 45 minutes earlier? yes. but its an excellent setup for episode 9 in which i envision a serkan who grovels. a lot.
additionally, since edser had such little actual forward progresssion until the last five minutes, all the side characters recevied amazing treatment this ep. usually i don’t care about the side characters in turkish dramas. often they are overwhelmingly flat and are only used as plot devices to keep the main couple apart. in SCK though we have a plethora of interesting side characters and friendship groups who i can’t help but like.
i’ll start with seyfi, who served some stinging one liners this episode. i loved how he immediately sided with eda, refused to pack her things when serkan asked him to, and even went to eda’s house to check in with her that she was okay. overall, seyfi is amazing and we love seyfi. example a: ”seyfi, have you seen eda around?” “no, but i’ll tell you what i do see. a lonely man” yes keep on serving those truth bombs seyfi!
i also really liked the small progression with aydin and alptekin. alptekin dropping everythign at work and returning home proved that he does care about his wife and aydin is slowly working up to telling him about her progress with her agoraphobia. both characters were also excellent in their response to their son’s behavior towards eda. aydin firmly chastised her son, scolding him for yelling at not only his fiance but any woman and alptekin came in later telling his son that having no trust in otheres is a mistake. three cheers for the good parenting (even if its of their adult son).
the piril/engin/jeren love triangle of sorts is also heating up. i think i’m piril/engin at the moment but i honestly don’t know which direction the drama will take with these two ships. i will say that i am firmly in love with the idea of jeren/engin just being best bros who give relationship advice to each other, it would be nice to see that kind of male/female friendship represented in a drama. also piril is ridiculously repressed with her feelings and therefore i strongly relate to her so that may be why i’m rooting for her.
it was also interesting to see more about ferit and his relationship with selin. i really feel so bad for this guy. he loves his fiance a lot and has already put a lot of trust in their relationship watching her work, day in and day out, with her ex-boyfriend, a guy whom ferit knows she still has feelings for. it was so sad when he found that note “from serkan” in selin’s desk. i did not approve of his decision to follow her but the drama surprised me again. instead of having ferit go psycho with jealousy he and eda quietly listened to their respective fiances discuss their old relationship. things obviously went better for eda in that discussion (serkan’s “there is no logic to my being with eda” is 10000% better than selin saying logic is what keeps her with ferit) and i really felt so bad when he told eda that he always knew selin wasn’t with him because of love, but because of logic. i just really want selin to stop pining over what she never had with serkan and realize that a great love is sitting right there in front of her.
and of course we must mention melo. ohh i was so worried about her reaction to finding kaan’s nefarious purposes but she handled it really well. i love that the drama didn’t waste uselss time with her not telling eda the truth for some stupid reason. instead as soon as melo realizes what happens, she tells eda and they piece together how kaan got his hands on the patent in the first place. the way all the girls immediately rallied around melo was heartwarming, to say the least. i love this friend group of four distinctly different but distinctly strong women. fifi’s decision to then chloroform kaan and get the truth out of his phone was kind of amazing, not gonna lie. also, i want to add a shout out to eda’s aunt. her immediately knowing that kaan was untrustworthy was epic.
oh! one more side character to mention! sirius was honestly the mvp of this episode. his acting on the stairs when serkan was walking away but eda was just arriving? oscar worthy. that dog is tired of his parents fighitng and would just like everyone to make up with one another, please and thank you.
well, that was an essay, please let me know if you have any thoughts about the episode you want to discuss! while the episode wasn’t my favorite, i did enjoy it and i think it promises a great set up for episode 9.

toxic - chapter 11
Tumblr media
i hate this wicked man but i love him so freaking much and i can’t help but be attracted to how bad he is and he’s so GORGEOUS and he could run me over with him bmw and throw my reputation and dignity in the trash and i would thank him for it and still run away and get married to him if he just said the word even though i’d be mad at him for being a trash human but i’d still love him. oh crap did i just explain the mood of this chapter? i did. enjoy.
Ransom didn’t sleep that night after he checked into his hotel.
He stared up at the ceiling and listened to the sounds of the city. His stomach twisted and turned and though his eyelids were heavy, he couldn’t bring himself to close them as his mind raced.
What was he going to do if you said no? He couldn’t stay, that would make him look like a creepy stalker. He cursed at himself again for being stupid and getting himself into this situation in the first place. But what was he going to do? You would have preferred him being honest with you than lying, right?
The uncomfortable coldness of the hotel room made him shiver as he pulled the covers tighter around him. He closed his eyes and hoped for sleep, knowing tomorrow was going to be a long day.
~•~•~•~•~
You were back to the normal routine of your nine to five at The New York Times.
It was sunny out, allowing a warm light to shine over all the cubicles in the building. You hummed, grabbing papers from inside your desk and starting up your computer. Claire peeked around at you and gave you a small smile.
You were ready to get back and focus on your work. You would have to clear your mind of your most recent holiday trip. Memories of the last few days in the office before Thanksgiving flooded your mind. You were excited and nervous at the same time, Claire was fangirling, and you couldn’t wait to be on break.
Now, you were happy to be back and away from that piece of shit. You hoped you would never have to see him again, for real this time.
As you began to slowly start working, your boss made her way past you and over to Claire to ask about how her article on Linda Drysdale was coming and how soon it could be published.
You tensed.
Claire glanced at you briefly in apology before updating your boss on her status.
“I-It should be done relatively soon, hopefully by next week,” Claire stuttered politely. Your boss smiled at Claire and thanked her before breezing in her high heels back to her office. You exhaled slowly before looking back over at Claire.
“Not gonna lie, I completely forgot about that article,” you whispered uncomfortably. Claire frowned and ran a hand through her black hair.
“That’s the last you’ll have to hear about that family, I promise,” Claire swore. You chuckled lightly.
“Don’t worry about it. Besides, why would Ransom care to come all the way from Boston just to try and get me back?” You joked. Claire began to laugh along when her eyes looked past you and widened, her jaw dropping slightly. You stopped and cocked an eyebrow.
“Claire? What are you...” You turned around. You mimicked Claire when you saw what she was staring at.
Standing at the end of your office stood a tall man with brown hair, blue eyes, wearing a brown coat, a familiar cream sweater, jeans, and shiny black shoes. His face was slightly red from the cold and his blue eyes were desperate. He scanned the office trying to find you and you crouched your head down and tried to discreetly cover it with your hands.
Claire stood up. She wasn’t dumb, she knew who that was. She had seen pictures and knew he fit your description.
“No no, Claire-, Claire just- No Claire!” You hissed quietly as you tried to get her to sit back down. Nobody else in the office really seemed to care there was a strange man in the building. People visited all the time to see their friends and they assumed he was one of those.
They weren’t exactly wrong?
Claire strutted up to Ransom and he sighed in relief when he saw her coming. Ransom wasn’t quite in the loop about who Claire was, though.
“Hi, can you please help me find-“
“Come on,” Claire said sternly as she nudged Ransom towards the door. He grimaced in confusion. Why was this girl who he didn’t even know trying to shoo him out?
Ransom continued to scan the office as Claire tried her hardest to push him out.
“Okay uh stop, just give me one second,” Ransom sneered. Claire looked up at him and scowled.
“Look I know exactly who you are and who you’re here to see,” Claire bit. Ransom raised his eyebrows and widened his eyes in shock at her. “She doesn’t want to see you right now, or really ever again. So now please, if you-“
“(Y/N)!” Ransom cut her off triumphantly. You had made the mistake of peeking up to see your best friend kick ass, and Ransom found you. Ransom easily pushed past Claire and made his way over to you.
Your stomach was uneasy and you tried to look away as he came closer. When he was finally to your cubicle you glared at him.
“Ransom!” you hissed quietly in order to not make a scene. “What are you doing at my office?!”
“(Y/N) I need to talk to you, please,” he pleaded. You stared at him and shrugged exaggeratedly.
“No! Not in the middle of my freaking work day!” You argued. He stared at you and pierced you with those blue eyes. You sighed and glanced from side to side.
“Please,” he said again. You stood up and looked directly at him.
“Fine. You meet me at my apartment tonight, alright? We’ll discuss things then,” you muttered. He nodded as you sat back down. “Now go away,” you spat as you stared at your computer. He glanced at Claire who was back in her spot next to you. She motioned two fingers from her eyes to his eyes, making sure he knew she was watching him. He rolled his eyes before making his way back out.
You rubbed your temples and closed your eyes as your stomach ran circles. You zoned out as your brain replayed the scenario you were just faced with. Did he really freaking come here? Now he was going to your apartment tonight? What the hell was happening. You could hear Claire trying to talk to you, but it was all incoherent.
What else was this day going to bring?
~•~•~•~•~
Later that night you found yourself sitting on one end of the kitchen table staring at Ransom at the other end. You two just stared for a moment before Ransom’s eyes darted away from you.
“Really?” He asked irritably. Claire was leaning against the counter behind you, her dark eyes narrowed. You nodded calmly.
“Yes. Claire is here to make sure you don’t pull anymore stupid crap,” you explained bitterly. Ransom had finally made the connection as to who she was, and to be honest she was not his favorite person. He couldn’t remember the last time he was intimidated by someone.
Claire sneered at him before he looked back at you. It was dark out, and the kitchen light cast a nice glow on the shiny table. You didn’t know how long Ransom planned to take here, but you knew you were ready to face whatever.
“So,” you sighed. “Why are you here?”
“I’m sorry,” he started. You rolled your eyes. “Look I know what I did was stupid and I acted like a douchebag, but I swear it’ll never happen again,” Ransom explained genuinely. You scoffed.
“‘Again?’ Ransom, I know how you’ve treated girls in the past!” You bit. “I’m pretty goddamn sure I’m not the first girl you’ve pulled something like this on.” Ransom tensed, knowing you were right.
“Are you really going to judge me on my past mistakes?” He asked. You couldn’t help but full on laugh.
“Oh my GOD! Ransom, yes! I am absolutely disgusted by you! You had me convinced that you changed and weren’t the same person I ended boarding school with! But no, you’re just as disgusting and horrifying as you were then!” You were standing up and full on yelling now, tears brimming your eyes. Ransom stared at you with a frown.
“Claire, can we have a moment please?” You asked your best friend with a small voice. She nodded and slipped out of your apartment quietly, the only sound being the opening and closing of your door.
Ransom’s heart broke at the sight of your misty (Y/E/C) eyes. He knew this was his last chance to fix things.
“(Y/N),” he whispered. You let out a small cry. “Please, please forgive me,” he asked gently. “I promise I’ve changed and that I’m going to change more...” You sniffed and shook your head.
“You’re gonna have to work really hard,” you sniffed. Ransom nodded. You were his last chance. He was willing to change for you. You changed his life and he wasn’t going to stop until he spent the rest of it with you.
“I’m sorry...” He said again. Your hands were covering your face and he stood up and slowly walked over to you.
“You hurt me,” you whispered. He wrapped his arms around you in a warm hug. His eyes threatened to cry as he thought of all the times he had hurt you in his life.
“I know, I’m sorry,” he replied sorrowfully. You turned your head up to look at him and he gave you a sad smile. He then leaned down slowly and kissed you softly.
You didn’t flinch or reject it, but melted in his arms.
okay i had to leave it on a cliffhanger i’m SORRY🥺 but this chapter was getting long and plus i need content for chapter 12, right? and this chapter ends sort of like another familiar chapter, don’t you think?🤔 anyway, i hope you enjoyed THANK YOU I LOVE YOU BYEEEEEEE🤍

Motu Revelation Salt
While I enjoyed the show I can't get over the VERY salty feelings I have like I'm TTS and Miraculous levels of salt.
First things first: Orko's death! They could've had just had him die due to the effects of magical draining and his sacrifice comes from giving up his last magic to help the team.
Okay I understand killing Adam/He-Man once but twice solely for shock value? Yeah that's too much I'm sorry. If they were gonna pull that they could've just had him stay dead and undergo some training arc in Preternia. I'm actually kinda insulted >:/ We get flashbacks but I wanted to see more of what he been up to in Preternia because that honestly sounds a lot more compelling subplot
I hate King Randor. Like....everyone got on Teela's case but can we talk about how he banished Duncan for keeping it a secret even though it was literally to protect them??? Adam wouldn't want that!
I am so fed up with people knocking down Teela for her looks like shut up I don't give a crap about the hair and muscles I CARE ABOUT THE WRITING!!! I'm happy they didn't drag out her anger and had her grow. And her relationship with Andra was so fricking adorable!! Hell Andra in general was amazing she isn't the Angry Black Girl trope which is good 🙏 Though with the cliffhanger I bet Teela's going to get more angrier especially if she finds out about the Sorceress being her mother
I kinda don't blame kevin smith for lying because if he had been upfront about teela from the very beginning people STILL would've strung him up by the balls 🤷 that being said he still owes clownfish tv an apology for putting them on blast like that and singling them out for criticism when they weren't even the worse ones (that goes to Twatter...as usual). Oh well I don't wanna get involved in that drama just forming my own opinions.
Overall it's NOT a trainwreck I'm going to stick around to see what part 2 has in store. yes I am allowed to be salty on my OWN blog FOR FREE without someone disrespecting me claiming i don't understand he man lore for basic criticism 💀 when I just wanna see how everything plays out

Fruits Basket Season 2, Episode 20
Tumblr media
[Apologies for posting this late, friends! It’s been rough getting myself off my ass so I can pack for moving this Saturday, not to mention a general lack of motivation to do anything. But once again, here I am! Let’s get into it.]
I’m almost pissed that we didn’t get quite to what I thought we were gonna get into, but the thought of the blessed moment coming this next episode shall keep me going.
Okay, so almost right off the bat we have Yuki with the student council again (after some stuff about the play they’re doing in their class - which ohmygosh I can’t wait for THAT). As a sidenote, I really love that Takaya gave the student council so much screentime, because Yuki joining as the president was a really hard decision for him, and it would’ve been a bit undermined had she not focused on that part of his life. But she did, and so we get plenty of quality scenes with the wonder that is Kakeru!
Kakeru is only seeing the bare bones of Yuki in this episode (and will see much more in the next episode), but when he asks Yuki about his relationship with his parents, Yuki explains it as being like a shirt that’s buttoned up wrong. This is such a clever metaphor, and so accurate, that it’s a wonder it took us over forty episodes to hear it.
We don’t get to dwell on it too much, because we see Machi in the process of wreaking havoc in the student council room. Instead of shock, Kakeru takes this all in stride, to Yuki’s surprise (he thought he was the only one to have seen this), and tells him he’ll take care of it. What I admire most about Yuki is how he handles this situation. Naohito wants to make a big deal about it, and Yuki tells him to forget about it and move on. He knows that something’s up with Machi, but he’s not about to pry. In a way, he’s picked this up from Tohru - she won’t directly ask you what’s wrong most of the time, and will instead try to move past it and wait for you to come to her. Yuki knows that there’s nothing to be done about this and Kakeru’s got it, so he leaves it in his VP’s hands. That not only speaks of Yuki’s trust in Kakeru, but of his respect of Machi’s boundaries. Our little boy’s growing up. ;w;
When Yuki returns, the room isn’t much cleaner, but he does get more insight into Kakeru’s connection to all this. He and Machi are half-siblings (although the sub said “step-siblings” at some point, which is... interesting) and were embroiled in this battle of succession in some company. Kakeru explains that at some point, he realized that he doesn’t want to be part of this whole thing, and so he was freed from it. He starts to realize, through Yuki’s buttoned shirt metaphor, that perhaps Machi’s not free from it. Maybe that’s why she keeps letting it out by destructive means. But, Yuki tells him, you can’t choose your parents. And your parents can’t choose you (unless they’re adopting you BUT THAT’S NOT THE POINT AT HAND). It’s an interesting little scene that I don’t think we get much expansion of just yet. It’s one of those things that’s not necessarily glossed over in Fruits Basket, but it passes by so quickly that you start to wonder what you just learned...
We get a brief scene of Yuki with his mother, who has apparently been changed by her last interaction with her sons (plural because Ayame). She expresses a brief bit of concern at Yuki getting a phone, telling him not to spend too much time on it (which is adorable). He’s surprised by this, understandably, but in a way, it makes him kinda happy to see something like this from the woman who never seemed to care before.
I think it’s a bit late for her to start being a mother, but at least Yuki’s optimistic.
We see some funny tidbits of Kakeru Causing Chaos (i.e. he’s such a little gossip about something he knows can’t happen) before we get to the next bit. Machi apologizes for the trouble she caused, and Yuki asks her to put herself out there more. This is pretty interesting for him to say, especially since he was, more or less, exactly like Machi for a good part of his life and even at the beginning of the series. Might Tohru have rubbed off on him a bit?
Next we see Kyo being such a cutie about having to be the Prince Charming to Hanajima’s Cinderella (I’m still cackling), and Yuki gets to reflect just a little bit more on what exactly Tohru means to him. (We also get a really cute shot of Tohru smiling at Kyo and Kyo trying not to lose his shit.)
When Yuki returns to the Student Council, he gets locked in the storage room. Normally this is fodder for shenanigans, but he’s alone, so no shenanigans are involved. (Though I want to know why this room isn’t better taken care of - the former president must’ve spent too much time getting up in everybody’s faces about harassing Yuki and/or having Haru’s strangely colored hair.) By accidentally knocking over a paint can, foolishly left open, Yuki flashes back to Akito saying some cruel things to him that shook him up more than we probably realized at the time when that particular episode aired. I’d even venture to say that one memory of Akito led to many others, especially in a room that dark.
So for once, someone that’s not Tohru rescues him.
Machi busts in with a chair (total badass, this woman), and asks if he’s okay. You can see in her face that she knew exactly how not okay Yuki was. Their pain isn’t the same, but they somehow recognize it in other people, including each other, and I think that’s a very valuable skill in people. Machi even directly says, “I thought you wouldn’t want to feel anxious,” which says a lot about her own experiences if she picked up on that. It’s not like Machi’s even seen Yuki in any kind of negative state either - so perhaps she has Shigure-level skills of perception, hmm?
We cut outside, and it’s setting up for a bro moment between Yuki and Kakeru. Yuki admits that painful memories came up in that dark storage room, and he gets ready to finally lay it all bear to someone. He hasn’t even told “that person” (who is very clearly Tohru just based on how she appears right after).
And that’s where we end.
These damn cliffhangers.
Once again, friends who didn’t read the manga: hold on to your seats. Next week, you might be in for a huge surprise. ;)

Maybe I Am? - Chpt.6
Characters: Steve Rogers x Bucky Barnes
Summary: Steve realizes the extent of his screw up and devises a plan to win his man back, even if that means coming out to everyone in his life. Master list HERE.
Content Warning: a really sad Bucky and an even more sad Steve. But (cue Monty Python voice) it gets better!
Word Count: 3.2k
Author’s Note: Hello lovelies! This is it, last chapter!! I know some of you have been waiting with baited breath since last night's cliffhanger. At least I don't make ya'll wait very long for new chapters! Thank you to every single one of you who has taken the time to like, comment, and reblog. Ya'll make writing such a rewarding experience. I don’t have an epilogue for this fic, but if anyone would like mini head cannons set after the fic shoot me an ask with what you’re looking for and I can write something up just for you. XOXO - Ash
Chapter Six
“Dude, you look like a ghost.” Sam commented when Steve entered the gym the next day.
Steve shrugged noncommittally. “Didn’t sleep great.” And that was the truth. Sleep had eluded him except for a few brief hours here and there. He hadn’t had the heart to change his sheets, as disgusting as he knew that was. He laid in his bed, trying to catch the faint scent of Bucky on his pillow and sheets. Steve was torturing himself over the break up that he’d known was inevitable. And it wasn’t even a break up, not really. And wasn’t that the bitch of it? He was hurting more now than he had when Peggy had left him and they had been together for over a year, had lived together even. Bucky was a fling, a curiosity that he couldn’t let go. Deep down Steve knew it had been more than that though. It had been everything.
Sam let Steve throw himself into work, not pushing him to talk until he was ready. But when they were wrapping things up for the day Sam’s patience had run thin. His best friend was in worse shape than he’d ever seen him and he didn’t have a clue as to why. “Get your shit.” Sam ordered gruffly, “We’re gonna go get a beer.” he looked at Steve’s devastated expression, “Or five.”
Two beers later Steve was peeling the label off of his drink, still avoiding the subject. Sam had been filling the silence with superficial work talk but when Steve lowered his head to his hands with a groan Sam caved. “Was it Peggy?” he ventured a guess. That was the last time he’d seen Steve even close to this rough of shape.
Steve let out a bitter laugh. “Nope. It definitely wasn’t Peggy.”
“Well then what, man? You look like someone’s ripped the life out of you. We used to talk about everything. What’s so bad you can’t even tell me?”
“Bucky.” Steve murmured quietly.
Sam wrinkled his nose trying to make sense of Steve’s answer. “Bucky who?” he said a second before it dawned on him. “Oh shit. Bucky as in WinterBae Bucky?”
Steve nodded.
“I didn’t even know you were still talking to him. What the hell happened?”
“I fucked up, Sam.” Steve choked out as the tears came, fresh and hot down his cheeks.
The story spilled out of him in fits and sobs as they nursed two more rounds of beers in the dimly lit quietness of the bar. Sam listened patiently, not commenting except for the occasional interjection of a hmph or ah ha to show he was listening. Steve felt raw and empty by the time he was done, finishing with Bucky’s departure the day before.
Sam sat quietly for a moment, thinking over everything Steve had just dropped on him. When it was clear Steve was done Sam spoke up. “You know you could have told me, right? I was probably a bit of an ass when you told me about Bucky the day you met him, but I just didn’t want you getting yourself worked up over nothing. But this, man, this is something.”
“I think I loved him.”
“I think you still do or you wouldn’t be sitting here crying in your beer. So what now?”
“What do you mean, what now?”
“How are you going to fix this? No offense, but you definitely were the one who fucked up. So how are you going to go get your boy back?”
“I don’t even know if he’d take me back. I hurt him Sam. He’s the most amazing, special person I’ve ever met and I made him feel like I was ashamed of him. What kind of person does that?”
Sam rubbed Steve’s shoulder. “The kind of person who’s scared. You went thirty years thinking of yourself one way only to find out you maybe didn’t have the whole picture. That can be disorienting, but it’s not an excuse to hurt someone you love. You gotta make this right if you still want him in your life.”
“I don’t know how.” Steve looked utterly defeated.
“You gotta figure that one out on your own. But regardless if things work out with him or not, you still have to figure your shit out. Otherwise you’ll never have a real chance with any girl, or guy, again.”
“I don’t want anyone else. I just want him”
“Then ask yourself the hard questions, man. Are you willing to be honest with him? To really apologize and accept whatever he has to say back? Are you willing to really be with him, out in the open? Because if you couldn’t bring him into the gym and proudly introduce him to all of your friends, then don’t waste your time or his.”
“I guess I have a lot of thinking to do.”
“Take a few days off, get your head on straight. And call me if you need to talk.”
“Thanks, Sammy.” Steve pulled his friend in for a bone crushing hug. It was going to be a long couple of days.
xxXxx
Bucky knew it was foolish expecting Steve to text or call. But part of him had hoped that Steve had cared enough to at least try to reach out. Bucky chalked it up to one more time he’d had too much faith in Steve. It would be the last time though.
Natasha came over on Wednesday after Bucky had dodged her calls for three days straight. She slipped in with assassin-like stealth, using the spare key he’d given her years ago. Bucky was slumped on the sofa in his fluffiest lavender robe, hair laying stringy and limp around his shoulders, and a bag of gummy bears resting on his stomach. An episode of The Office was playing but he wasn’t really paying attention to it. He glanced over, unsurprised by her presence, and mutely handed her a clear gummy bear - her favorite flavor. She accepted the bear with a nod and settled in next to him.
The episode ended and Bucky popped the last few pieces of candy in his mouth. “Are you here to yell at me for wallowing?” he asked, breaking the silence.
Natasha raised a perfectly groomed eyebrow at him. “Do you want me to?”
Bucky shook his head, his composure breaking. “I miss him, ladybug.” he sobbed, turning to cling to his oldest, dearest, friend.
“I’m sorry, Bucky-bear.” Natasha held him tightly while he cried. She fired a quick text off and her phone chirped almost immediately. “Becca will be here by dinner.”
“Nat, no.” he grumbled pathetically.
“Nat, yes.” she quipped. “Now come on, let’s get you cleaned up before she gets here and thinks I haven’t been looking after you.”
Bucky grumbled more but complied. The last thing he needed was a Becca lecture.
Becca arrived with bags of take out and several bottles of wine a little after six o’clock. She and Nat sat and listened while Bucky poured his heart out over the next few hours. They curled up around him on the sofa, letting him mourn and trying to just be there for him. He passed out eventually and Becca looked over his sleeping head at Natasha once his gentle snuffle-snores started. “I want a name and address.” she demanded with a low tone that left no room for disagreement.
“I’ll text it to you. You go do what you have to do and I’ll keep an eye on our boy.”
Becca was fuming the entire ride across town. She had been there for the fallout out from Brock, who had been the worst type of prick imaginable, but who Bucky had genuinely loved. And this was a hundred times worse. Becca knew it was stupid and ill advised but she needed to confront the asshole who thought he could just toy with her brother’s emotions like that. She still regretted not punching Brock when she’d had the chance, and she was not going to have that regret this time.
Steve heard the sharp knock on his door and groaned. He’d already been in bed despite it only being nine thirty and he felt completely exhausted dragging himself to the door. Three days of beating yourself up will do that to a guy. Steve opened the door and his heart stopped. Standing in front of him was a petite woman who reminded him so much of Bucky he thought he was hallucinating.
“Are you Steve Rogers?” the woman demanded. The grey-blue eyes, so much like Bucky’s, flared with anger.
“Yeah,” he mumbled, clearing his throat, “Who are you?”
“The woman who’s brother is a fucking wreck right now because of you, you fucking prick.” Becca shoved at him as hard as she could but he barely moved, the damn mountain of a man.
“Bucky?” Steve choked out, his eyes welling up at the name.
“Yeah, Bucky. Or do you do this with all the guys? Poor gorgeous confused guy who just wants to get his rocks off and use people?” Becca was almost shouting, anger radiating off of her in waves.
“What?!” Steve barked out, shocked, “No! God, no. Bucky was the only guy I ever… I didn’t mean to-” a sob slipped out and he fought for composure, “Is he okay? I… I miss him so much.” Steve broke down, wrapping his arms around himself tightly for the small bit of comfort it gave him.
Becca just stood there speechless for a moment. She had been so ready to deck this guy and chew him out for hurting her brother, but she hadn’t expected Steve to be a mess too. Clearly, things were more complicated than she’d thought. “He’s not, you ass.” she informed him, “And neither are you apparently. Now invite me in and let’s see if we can fix this, yeah?”
Steve sniffled, nodding and backing out of the doorway so she could come in. Becca followed him to the sofa where he told her how badly he’d fucked up, which she already knew but felt reassured hearing how much it tore Steve up. It was satisfying knowing Steve was beating himself over what had happened and saving her the trouble. She let him finish and get himself under wraps again before she finally spoke up. “I’m not going to help you.”
Steve visibly deflated.
“But,” she added, causing him to perk up briefly, “I will get him where he needs to be for you to fix this mess. God knows he’ll be avoiding you like the plague right now. So figure out to make this right and let me know when and where. I’ll make sure he’s there.” Becca stood up, satisfied she was keeping her meddling to a minimum.
“Thank you.” Steve said right as she reached the door.
She gave him a sharp nod, “But Steve.” she added, her tone like ice, “If you ever hurt my brother again? I’m gonna punch you in the dick so hard it won’t matter what your sexuality is because you won’t have anything left to use.”  And with that warning, she closed the door loudly behind her.
Steve groaned. He’d spent three days wallowing, now it was time to plan.
xxXxx
The next morning Becca’s phone buzzed in her pocket while she flipped a chocolate chip pancake, adding to the stack she was making for Bucky.
1pm @ Los Aztecas; the text read, followed by an address.
She sent back a thumbs up emoji, hoping she wasn’t betraying her brother. Natasha had seemed encouraging when she’d reported back to her the night before and that gave her some reassurance she was doing the right thing.
Bucky slept late, cuddled up with Natasha in his rumpled bed. The three of them had curled up like they had when they were kids and Becca was happy to rejoin the warmth to wake up her brother and best friend. Bucky was reluctant to get out of bed but after some coaxing, they got him up and dressed. Becca filled Natasha in while Bucky showered and they planned on how they’d get Bucky out of the apartment later.
It turned out to be easier than either woman expected. Becca claimed to have found a ‘cute little taco’ place online and gave him her best sad face when begging him to go out for lunch. Bucky was weak when Becca begged and they were in a cab on their way across time fifteen minutes earlier than they needed to be. Becca fired off a text to Steve of their ETA and gave Natasha a knowing nod when Bucky wasn’t looking.
“Becs, no.” Bucky whined when they were dropped off outside the restaurant.
“What?” Becca played dumb, mentally priding herself on her performance. “Why not?”
“This is Steve’s taco place.” he swallowed roughly, refusing to cry in public.
“That asshole doesn’t get to deprive you of tasty tacos.” Natasha interjected, “Besides, what are the odds you’ll even run into him? Come on,” she gave him a push towards the door, “Mama needs tacos.”
Bucky grumbled but ducked into the little restaurant with them. His eyes adjusted to the low lighting and he missed Steve with an intensity that made him physically ache. He wondered how long it would be until everything stopped making him think of Steve. Hell, even the sound of a guy laughing in the other room reminded him of Steve. As a matter of fact, that laugh really did sound familiar. Too familiar. Shit.
“Hey, Buck.”
Bucky cringed, glaring daggers at his sister and best friend before turning around. Well, at least he’d put on real clothes before going out. “Hi Steve.” he said as normally as he could.
Steve was standing in the doorway to the private dining room looking devastatingly handsome in his white and blue checked shirt and khakis. Bucky wished he had been overly generous in remembering how damned attractive Steve was. If it weren’t for the faint bruises of purple under Steve’s bright blue eyes, he would have thought nothing was wrong.
“Can we talk for a minute?” Steve asked, wringing his hands nervously.
Bucky turned around to Becca and Natasha, “I hate you both.” he growled. But he nodded to Steve and followed him into the empty dining room.
“What’s this about Steve?” he asked, his voice betraying his exhaustion.
“You.” Steve said simply, “It’s always gonna be about you.” he cleared his throat, taking a moment to collect his thoughts. “I wanted to say I’m sorry I hurt you. I never meant to but I know I absolutely did. I was a coward and I’m ashamed of how I acted. But I’m not ashamed of us. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me and I want everyone to know it. I needed to sort my shit out, not just for you but for me too. I’m sorry it took me so long to do that. I don’t want to hide you away like some secret. I want to be able to walk down the street holding your hand, kiss you on the corner and not give a shit who sees us. I want you to meet my friends, my coworkers, my family. I want us to take all those silly trips we were planning together. I want you in my life, completely, not just when it’s convenient. Because I love you. I love you so much it terrifies me. And whether you want to give me, us, another try, or if you want to kick me in the balls and never see me again, I just needed to tell you that.”
Bucky sniffed back the tears that were gathering in the corners of his eyes and took a long breath. “You hurt me.” his voice was steadier than he felt and Bucky was grateful for that. “And you’re never going to do that again. Do you hear me? Never again, Steve. I love you too much to go through this again.” Bucky gave him a soft smile, letting his words sink in.
“You still love me?” Steve whispered hopefully.
“Of course I do, you punk.”
Steve laughed wetly, pulling Bucky in for a hug. They were still holding each other when Sam popped his head in a few minutes later. “You two ready for the party yet?” Sam called out, startling them both. This time though, Steve took Bucky’s hand in his tightly.
“Come on in.” Steve waved his hand to his friend. “Sam, I’d like you to meet my boyfriend, Bucky. Bucky, this is my best friend Sam.”
Bucky was beaming as he extended a hand to shake Sam’s. “Nice to meet you Sam. I’ve heard a lot about you.”
Sam gave Bucky his brightest gap toothed smile, immensely happy for both of them. “Likewise.”
Thor was the next to pop his head in, accompanied by his wife Jane and their baby. Becca and Natasha sauntered in with margaritas in hand, twin expressions of smug happiness on their faces. Sam and Steve had closed the gym for the afternoon, enabling everyone to join them for a late lunch. Steve figured funding for an impromptu party for all of his nearest and dearest was a small price to pay to get the love of his life back.
Bucky stayed glued to Steve’s side for the entire party. Likewise, Steve kept a hand on him at all times, whether it was wrapped around Bucky’s or resting around the other man’s waist, it was like a lifeline tethering them together. There was some gentle ribbing from Pietro and Scott about Steve finally manning up but overall everyone treated Steve’s unofficial coming out party as if it were the most normal thing in the world. Steve was both relieved and a little ashamed he had been so concerned. He loved these guys like family, he should have known they would accept him no matter what.
As the party died down their assortment of friends trailed off to get about their days. Natasha and Sam had been sitting together at the bar for the better part of an hour, much to Steve and Bucky’s amusement. They were just a hair too close for it to be casual and the faint smile on Natasha’s face cemented Bucky’s assumption that she was smitten.
“I’ll see you at the apartment later. Or tomorrow.” Becca teased, giving her brother a hug goodbye. “Don’t hurry home for me.”
“I won’t.” Bucky assured her. He watched her go, leaving just him and Steve left in the room. “You ready to head back to your place?” he asked.
“Yeah,” Steve looked down at him with a fond smile, “I think I am.”
Bucky snorted a laugh, “You think so? You really should be more certain about things, Steve. Would’ve saved us a lot of trouble.”
Steve bit the inside of his cheek to keep from laughing. “Well, I know one thing for sure.”
“Oh really? And what’s that?” Bucky grinned, playing along.
“That I love you.” Steve leaned down to kiss Bucky sweetly.
“Well then.” Bucky smiled widely against Steve’s mouth, “That’s a really good start.”

The Return
Pairing: Colt Kaneko x MC (Ellie)
Word Count: 3163
A/N: Gonna try and keep this short this week. If you want to be tagged in future parts, please send me an ask or message. I’ve started to lose track of who wants to be on the list and I don’t want anyone to miss out because I’m scatterbrained! Also, please no one kill me for the cliffhanger. At least there’s not a lot of angst? This kinda got away from me at just over 3k words but it was my favorite to write so far. Enjoy!
Summary: Ellie makes it back to the shop to find Colt there working on the remodel and they tear some stuff up with sledgehammers. What can I say, they both have some anger issues to work out. Afterwards, Colt brings Ellie in on something he’s been planning...
Part One  Part Two Part Four
Ellie drove as fast as she could get away with, passing cars and slipping between lanes with practiced ease. The afternoon sun was drifting lower in the sky by the time she turned the last corner before Kaneko Autobody came into view. The scorch marks caused her stomach to twist with anger and loss. It had become a home to her, and she didn’t realize that fact until it was burned to the ground. That the frame of the building survived was a miracle. Ellie remembered the heat of the flames on her cheeks the night she’d consoled Colt on that curb right over there. Leaving him now was a mistake.
Which was why, on her return trip, she’d called her advisor at Langston and withdrawn from the summer program. Beyond the summer, Ellie wasn’t sure what she would do, but she knew she needed to be here right now. She didn’t call her dad, not knowing how to explain this to him. He wouldn’t understand, he didn’t really ever try to understand her. Despite everything that had happened, he’d fallen back into his same habits. Ellie wasn’t going to waste her breath defending her heart to him or anyone else. Not ever again. Pulling into the open bay doors, she looked around desperately for Colt’s motorcycle, hoping beyond hope she’d find him here. Even if she didn’t, she needed to see this. She hadn’t been back since the fire and that didn’t feel right.
Not seeing the familiar bike, Ellie killed the engine of her car and slid out, looking around with a sad smile. The place had been cleaned out and it looked like someone had been in the process of gutting the walls. It was silent, so she assumed Colt had been here and she’d missed him. Her smile fell but just as she stepped away from the car to explore the rest of the shop, a voice stopped her in her tracks. “Looks like you’re in the wrong place, sweetheart.” In a flash, Ellie whipped around toward the voice, briefly wondering if she’d really heard him or if she was being tortured by another memory. Colt stood at the top of the stairs leading to Logan’s loft, arms crossed over his chest. If Ellie didn’t know him so well, the casual nature of his posture would’ve pissed her off, but she did know him. His shoulders were tense and his eyes were slightly widened in surprise. He was shifting his weight from one foot to the other as she stared at him, clearly nervous and unsure. After a long moment, a wide smile spread across Ellie’s face and she launched herself up the stairs and into his arms.  Colt was caught off guard, quickly uncrossing his arms in an attempt to catch her, but her momentum was too much and they both crashed to the floor. He landed hard on his back with her landing on his chest, but he suddenly couldn’t think of the words to tease her for it. Ellie’s arms wrapped tighter around his neck and he held her close, chuckling as he buried his face in her hair, the smell of lavender mixed with the leather of her car seats. She was real, here in his arms.
After several minutes Ellie sat back, still straddling his hips and took his face in her small hands to study his face. Her thumbs ran across his cheekbones before she leaned down and kissed him gently, almost like an apology. “On the contrary, I’m exactly where I belong.” She whispered against his lips before kissing him once more. Colt smiled against her lips, which encouraged Ellie to slide her hands into his hair and nibble on his lower lip. Instead of giving in, Colt gently pushed her back just enough to look at her. She frowned at him in confusion. Had she taken too long to come back? Was he angry with her for being here? “Before you say anything, I swear I didn’t plan to be here when I woke up this morning, I just...:” Her voice trailed off as she searched his eyes, finding something familiar to what she was feeling: relief. So he was glad she was here.
“I know Elle, I know.” Colt spoke softly, brushing her hair aside with gentle fingertips. There was a scar on her left temple from the glass of her windshield but all her bruises and some of the smaller cuts had nearly healed. He almost couldn’t tell she’d almost died a few weeks ago. Taking a deep breath to work up the willpower, he sat up and then helped her to her feet. But no sooner were they standing, his arms wrapped around her waist again. Ellie smiled as he held her close, more gentle than she was used to from him. She ran her hands down his chest to put enough distance between them to look at him again. Colt’s warm brown eyes were shining with unshed tears and he blinked them away quickly.
Ellie laughed softly. “Don’t tell me you’ve gone soft on me. I’ve only been gone three weeks.” She teased, wiping away her own tears that had escaped onto her cheeks with one hand.
“Why are you here, Ellie? Your summer program starts next week. You’re going to miss it.” Colt couldn’t help but wonder what this was. Why she’d come back and if she would stay. God, how he wanted her to stay and it killed him. He was being selfish. She deserved better than him, didn’t she?
“I’m not missing it. I withdrew from the program. This is my last summer before college. I want to spend it with you, if you’ll let me.” Ellie looked down at her hands on his chest, avoiding his gaze. Colt’s hands had slipped under the hem of her shirt and his jacket, tracing soothing patterns on the skin of her hips. She’d missed this so much, but she didn’t realize how much until now. She didn’t want to be anywhere else.
Colt reached out and lifted her chin with the knuckle of his index finger, gently making her look him in the eyes. “I’ll think about it.” He replied with his signature cocky smirk. His eyes betrayed him though; Ellie saw the hope in his eyes, a warmth she didn’t get to see often and only ever when he looked at her.
For the first time since laying eyes on Colt, Ellie took a look around at the bones of the shop that were now exposed. Drywall covered the ground in chunks, wires hung exposed above them from where the light fixtures had burst from the heat of the flames. She stepped out of Colt’s arms and wandered a few feet, inspecting the exposed wooden beams. “You really went to town, huh?” She laughed, throwing him a smile over her shoulder. “How long have you been working?”
Colt watched her intently. He was afraid to take his eyes off her in case she disappeared, but he didn’t move. “Uh, few days here and there. It’s...tricky getting out here when the F.B.I is on your ass.” He joked halfheartedly, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand, looking conflicted. “Elle...it’s not that I’m not happy to see you. I am. But, being around me right now isn’t a good idea. You could get hurt.”
Ellie sighed and turned to face him, tugging nervously at the sleeves of his jacket. “Honestly? I don’t know why I’m here. I made it as far as Flagstaff before I stopped, that’s when I found your jacket in my trunk, and I…” She bit her lip, thinking over her words for a moment. “It was like the last straw, I guess. The whole drive, I couldn’t help thinking how important this place was to me. How much I loved this life, despite my better judgement.” Ellie gestured, with a humorless chuckle, at the remains of the shop before looking him in the eye. “How much I loved you. How I hated the fact that I was leaving you to pick up the pieces alone.” She was in front of him now and Colt was surprised at the fire he saw in her eyes as she took his hand in hers, intertwining their fingers. “I don’t know what kind of life I want yet. But you were right, I’m going to find out. With you.”
Colt swallowed hard. This had to be another dream. She couldn’t really be here, fighting for him. No one fought for him, not like this. It was like there were two different people arguing in his head. The part of him that had been to college, experienced it and the part that knew it wasn’t for him. Maybe it wasn’t for her either, but this path was dangerous. He was fine following it himself, but to bring Ellie into it…. “Alright then.” Colt squeezed her hand and nodded once. “You wanna knock out some walls?” He shot her a lopsided smile that gave her butterflies. He told himself it was okay, he would protect her, that they could do this as a team. Colt released Ellie’s hand and walked over to pick up the sledgehammer he’d thrown earlier before holding it out to her, handle first.
Ellie grinned and it lit up her face. Busting up the remains of their past sounded like just what she needed. She reached out and took the hammer from him. “Oh, hell yes.” Ellie took a moment, surveying the remaining drywall of Logan’s loft. Colt crossed his arms and leaned against one of the exposed beams watching her with a smirk. Deciding on a spot, Ellie walked up and swung the hammer as hard as she could with both hands. That was for her mother, for leaving her so soon with no one to balance out her dad’s overbearing version of love. It felt good and Ellie swung again. That was for her dad, for never quite loving her for who she was instead of who he wanted her to be. She swung again, hitting harder now, imagining it was Jason. That’s when her pent up rage boiled over and she swung the hammer again, raising it over her head and slamming it into the wall with a shout. He’d taken so much from her, from the ones she loved. He’d told her exactly what she wanted to hear, tried to manipulate her just like her dad. Ellie beat out all the anger and frustration she had, which kicked up a cloud of dust from the crushed drywall. Coughing and covering her mouth with her sleeve, Ellie backed up and turned to Colt with a sheepish grin. “Guess I got a little too carried away.”
Colt snorted a laugh, his lips twitching into a smile. Damn, she’d only been here less than an hour and he already felt lighter, he was already smiling more. For all the shit he’d given Logan for going soft because of Ellie, he’d sure started to see why. Watching her small form swing the heavy sledgehammer would’ve been almost comical if he hadn’t noticed the pain in her expression. “I dunno, looked pretty hot from where I’m standing. Until you started coughing, that is.” Colt handed her a mask from his toolbox in the corner. “Next time maybe wait until you have one of these.”
Ellie snatched the mask from him and playfully swatted his shoulder. “You didn’t offer me this before giving me a hammer and letting me go nuts on the wall?”
Colt laughed and reached out to rub her arms affectionately, appreciating how great she looked wearing his jacket. “Now, where’s the fun in that?” Ellie felt the heat of his gaze as his eyes roamed her from head to toe, taking her in. She stepped closer to him, wrapping her arms loosely around his shoulders. Colt’s hands rested lightly on her hips and he leaned in to kiss her, unable to resist when she was this close. He felt Ellie’s hand slip up into the hair at his neck as she lazily kissed along his jaw. They weren’t particularly heated kisses, meant to express how much they’d missed each other rather than their desire. At least, they weren’t until Ellie suddenly pressed herself closer to him, leaving no space between them.
Colt reacted on instinct, pressing his hands into the small of her back to hold her tightly. He kissed her neck, her jaw, her cheeks, her lips, anything he could reach really, until Ellie took his face in her hands and made him look at her. “Do you...have some place you’re staying?” She asked breathlessly, her lips swollen from his kisses.
It took Colt a minute to register what she’d asked, too distracted by the red blush on her cheeks, the wild look in her eyes, her body pressed against his. He cleared his throat before answering. “Uh, yeah. It’s not much. I’m sorta squatting right now.” Colt laughed a little, pressing his forehead to hers. “Why, you have something in mind?” He smirked, knowing exactly what was on her mind.
“Maybe a thing or two.” Ellie smirked at him. This close to him, Ellie could see all the shades of brown in his eyes, the little green dots of color scattered in his irises. She could hardly believe that she’d only met him a few months ago, that she could love someone so much. Before she met him, she’d only dreamed of having the kind of love her parent’s had, and although her dad would vehemently disagree, Ellie believed she had found it with Colt. That was why she knew going to Langston wasn’t what she wanted most, not anymore. “I wanna show you how much I missed you.” Ellie whispered, her lips ghosting over his.
Colt groaned and his hands tightened around her waist as he reluctantly pushed her back. “As much as I would love to find out, I really have to finish here. I’m not sure when I’ll be able to make it back.” He brushed a lock of hair behind her ear. “But now that you’re here, we’ll be done twice as fast. C’mon, grab the sledgehammer, we have a kitchen to gut.” Colt kissed her forehead one more time and headed for the stairs. Ellie grabbed the sledgehammer and the mask from where she’d dropped it during their embrace before following him.
They spent the rest of the remaining daylight hours clearing out the backroom. Ellie started on the drywall while Colt used a drill to remove the charred light fixtures from the ceiling. Once that was done, they swept up the mess. Things were finally starting to look better. Most of the damage from the fire had been removed, all that remained was to rebuild. Ellie being here for this, for him, made Colt feel more at peace than he had since Ardizzone. This was totally uncharted territory for him, the things she made him feel were almost scary, but damn if he didn’t want her to stay by his side forever. He should want to push her away, to tell her to go to college and forget about him, she’d be safer. But he wasn’t selfless, he wasn’t fearless, and he needed her to keep him grounded. As long as Ellie wanted to stay, Colt would enjoy every moment, he’d keep her safe.
Ellie looked over and noticed Colt staring at her as she organized a bag of clothes to take to his place. “Colt? Is everything okay?” They’d decided to leave her car here for now. If anyone saw her it around town, her dad would hear about it. Hell, even Jason might hear it from his cell in prison and send someone after her. Colt knew he still had connections on the outside, he’d been investigating them for weeks now but hadn’t found anything so far. But everything he knew, he told her. They were in this together, no matter what, he’d never make another plan without her.
Colt looked away, a bit sheepish, and Ellie raised an eyebrow at his uncharacteristic embarrassment. “I, uh, I wanna show you something. Come on.” He held his hand out and Ellie slung her backpack over her shoulder before taking it. On the way out, Colt closed the bay doors, the only thing to survive the fire, to hide her car. He lead her by the hand into an alley a couple blocks away, were his bike was parked.
The ride was short but Ellie enjoyed being on the back of his motorcycle again. She let her head rest against his back, arms wrapped around his waist and fingers teasing the skin near the hem of his white t-shirt. When he stopped, she looked up at the scene in front of them. “You...brought me to an abandoned warehouse? Very romantic, Colt.” She rested her chin on his shoulder, laughing softly.
Colt rolled his eyes as a smile tugged at his lips but said nothing. Damn, it was still so hard to be here, but he wanted to show her. To have someone to share the memories with. Without a word, Colt got off his bike and walked to the doors of the building. He fumbled with a set of keys from his pocket until he found the right one and unlocked one side. Ellie followed behind him, watching curiously as he rolled the door up.
What she saw punched the air out of her lungs. The frame was charred and twisted in places, two of the doors were missing, and the front end looked like an awkwardly folded accordion, but she’d recognize that shade of green paint anywhere. “It’s Kaneko’s car…” Colt was staring at the twisted mess, he only nodded. Ellie walked closer, stepping inside the small storage area and running her hand along the roof reverently. She wanted to ask him how he got it, why he had it, what he was planning to do with what was effectively a pile of scrap metal after the horrors it had seen. But the words wouldn’t come. Her eyes filled with tears momentarily and she blinked them away. Ellie still mourned for Teppei, feeling partially responsible for the events that had led to his death, for ruining Colt’s plan even if it was unintentional. More than that though, she’d started to see him as a father figure as well. He’d given her the freedom she’d so desperately craved, taught her, trusted her. Even though he’d tricked her into running with the crew, Ellie couldn’t deny that.
Finally, Colt spoke, causing her to turn to him. He was standing behind her, hands in his pockets, still staring at the wreckage. “I found another one. In Fresno.” He slowly tore his eyes off the car and looked into Ellie’s blue eyes. “Do you want to help me steal it?”

Spread Your Wings Masterlist
Tumblr media
You woke early the next morning. You didn’t tend to sleep well after a nightmare, usually giving up on sleep entirely. Having not been around the compound much in the few days you’d stayed, you weren’t sure about the team’s schedules, but you wanted to try and do something for them. Breakfast seemed like a good idea. Assuming they did that sort of thing. No matter how many times Bucky told you that you weren’t bothering the team, you really had a hard time believing it was true. As such, you figured the least you could do was attempt to make breakfast. Nothing fancy, you weren’t all that skilled or anything, but you were good at a few things.
The kitchen was a little daunting; all the shiny appliances, and tools were way beyond what you were used to using. At least the space was large, since your wings were going to be out for the duration. You carefully maneuvered through the space, pulling out the ingredients and supplies you would need. After a few minutes of trying, you caved and asked FRIDAY for help with the oven and stove. She and HERMES helped you use the appliances and time all your cooking properly. You were fairly certain it was the smell of bacon and coffee that had the entire team out of their rooms, but when they all piled their pates full of food and were making happy noises while they ate, you just smiled.
The breakfast casserole you made wasn’t difficult to throw together, nor were the biscuits and bacon, but every team member seemed shocked when they realized you’d been the cook.
“So, who woke up early and cooked?” Sam asked
“And why?” Natasha added. “Anyone feeling guilty for something?”
Feeling embarrassed, you said, “I cooked.” When everyone turned to you, with shock on their faces, you looked down. “I just-- I was already awake, and I figured I could do something to make up for the trouble I’ve caused so-“
“You haven’t caused any trouble,” Bucky said, sounding a little exasperated, but before he could continue, Tony interrupted.
“But, if this is how you apologize for making trouble, please feel free to make all the trouble you like.”
“I’d be careful making a statement like that, Stark,” Clint said with a grin. “Y/N and I haven’t had a lot of time together yet, but I think she and I could cause more trouble than you could handle.”
That had everyone laughing, you smiled, not totally sure whether or not you should be laughing; breakfast went by in a happy blur after that.
When you started to head back into the kitchen, Wanda and Vision cut you off. They insisted that since you had cooked, they would clean. Though you were confused, you allowed yourself to be ushered out of the kitchen. Then you were left wondering what to do with yourself, but that only lasted a few moments.
Natasha appeared at your shoulder and pulled you with her to the gym. You wouldn’t be able to do anything strenuous since your wings were still healing, but Natasha insisted that yoga would do you some good. You’d done very little yoga before, since it wasn’t exactly on HYDRA’s training priority list. It mostly looked like fancy stretches, but once you were doing it, you were sweating and your muscles were aching.
“This is a hell of a lot harder than it looks,” you panted, trying to hold a tree pose that had gone wobbly.
Natasha chuckled, “It takes practice, and even then some people just aren’t built for it. But I think, after a while, your body is gonna protest not being used. This is the most low impact thing I could think of, short of swimming. I figured that would be problematic with your wings.”
“Actually, I can swim with them. It’s not pretty, but I can do it.” HYDRA couldn’t have their Angel stymied by a lake or river after all. “The wings are mostly buoyant, and the feathers are pretty waterproof, so they don’t drag me down. I like swimming without them, but I can make do with them as well.”
Natasha nodded her head approvingly and lead you through several more poses, until you felt like your body would give out. You didn’t stop, and you didn’t say anything, but you were in pain. You controlled your breathing and fought through, but tears were prickling the corners of your eyes. Natasha was still moving, so you would move.
Show no weakness. Weakness gets you killed. Weakness gets you tortured. Lessons that you’d learned the hard way in the halls of HYDRA were still loud in your mind. So loud in fact that you didn’t hear the footsteps approaching you. You didn’t notice that Natasha had moved until your felt her push you, knocking you out of your pose and onto your ass.
“What are you doing? Do you want to hurt yourself?” she shouted. You were disoriented and breathing heavily. You couldn’t figure out why she was yelling.
“What are you-”
“You were going to pull a muscle holding a pose too long!”
“But, you were-”
“Yes, I was. However, I am used to doing this. My body is used to this. Yours is not. You’re already injured, why would you keep-” She paused. Shaking her head a little she spoke again. “You don’t need to push through things if they’re hurting you. This isn’t HYDRA.”
“I wasn’t- I mean, I don’t think you are. I guess I just don’t know…”
“When to stop,” Natasha supplied, moving to sit next to you on the floor. “It’ll take adjusting to; being in a place where we you aren’t tortured.” She spoke with the voice of experience. You didn’t know her whole story, you doubted anyone did, maybe not even her, but she did understand.
That was the moment when Bucky, Steve, and Sam entered the gym. You could feel questions in their gazes, but none of them said a word. Simple nods of acknowledgement were exchanged, and then light conversation began. Individual routines were started and finished, and then sparring began.
You were not allowed to join, even though you asked. You promised to keep your movements slow, but Natasha shot you down regardless of your reasons. Which left you sitting on the sidelines watching as she and Steve faced off. It was amazing to watch. The two of them were so athletic, their movements so fast. They had no fear of hurting one another, knowing each other to such a degree that they were attuned to the other’s movements. You were almost in awe of them as Bucky sat next to you.
“Every time he does this, all I can think of is how he used to get into all those ridiculous fights when we were younger. He was so small, and sick all the time, but he would fight anyone. It was like he was looking for excuses to fight,” he said with a smile.
“He’s not very small now, and I don’t think he can get sick,” you replied.
“New look, same attitude,” Bucky grumbled, causing you to laugh. It startled Bucky. He was fairly certain he hadn’t heard you laugh before.
He’d only known you for about a week, but he’d never heard you laugh before that moment. It immediately became his favorite sound. One that he wanted to draw from you again and again.
That was a new feeling. Even since he’d been with the Avengers, since breaking the HYDRA conditioning, Bucky hadn’t really had feelings, beyond the team. He cared for his teammates, he cared for Steve on a deeper level than most, but this wasn’t the same. Something that Steve, Sam, Clint, and Tony had been sure to point out just a little while ago.
As soon as Y/N and Natasha were out of ear shot, all remaining members of the team fell on Bucky.
“What?” Bucky had asked, uncomfortable with everyone in his personal space all of a sudden.
“Don’t give me that, Tin Man,” Sam said, “You know ‘what’.”
“No, I don’t. If I did, I wouldn’t have asked, Bird Boy.”
“Wilson is referring to the tension between you and our new feathered friend,” Tony said as he moved to sit across from Bucky at the table. When Bucky scowled, he continued, “I know you’re old, and have probably still got some ice crystals in your brain, but I refuse to believe you don’t know what I’m talking about.”
“Well, I don’t.” Bucky was feeling defensive. “Tension” implied that something was wrong, that he and Y/N weren’t getting along. He’d thought they were doing well, or he’d hoped they had been. Now he was worried. “What tension? Is she mad at me?”
“Not that kind of tension, Barnes,” Clint supplied, patting Bucky’s shoulder as he passed him, moving to sit a few chairs down.
Bucky was still confused when Sam spoke up.
“Let’s try comin’ at this a different way. How do you feel about her”
“What’d’ya mean? I like spending time with her. She’s honest, and kind. She’s been through some similar shit, so we understand each other.”
“Didn’t answer my question though,” Sam said, meeting Bucky’s gaze directly. “How do you feel when she’s around?”
“I feel… calm. Relaxed. Like I can take a deep breath, and my mind is clear.”
“You feel comfortable around her?” Sam asked.
“Yeah,” Bucky responded, warily.
“What about when she’s not around?” Steve asked.
“I worry about her, I guess. Same as any of you idiots. If I can’t see you, who knows what kind of shit you’ll get up to.”
“But you’ve only known her a week, Barnes,” Clint said. “It took you months to give even half a shit about most of the team.”
“True, true. In a week, you care a lot more about Y/N than you did about any of us,” Tony nodded.
Bucky wanted to argue, but found that he couldn’t. They weren’t wrong; it had taken him a lot more time to develop any kind of relationship with the Avengers than it had with Y/N.
“The situations were pretty different, but I have to agree,” Wanda entered the room, and stood beside Clint’s chair. “The question is ‘why’. Why would you become attached to Y/N so quickly?”
At this point, Bucky knew where the questions were aiming, but he would be damned if he were going to say what they wanted him to.
“Cause she’s like me. We understand each other. No one else here has the same background as me, but her’s is the closest, so it makes sense we would be close.” Bucky’s reasoning was sound. He’d spoken in a calm, rational tone. It was a pretty reasonable statement, even if it was complete bullshit.
He cared about Y/N. More so than most of his teammates. Yes, some of that was due to their shared experiences. He hadn’t been lying when he said they shared an understanding that no one else did, but his feelings weren’t limited to that.
She defended children she’d never met, people she didn’t know. She protected people to whom she owed nothing. She stood in front of bullets for them. She’d risked incredibly painful seizures to help Tony with his suit. She taken countless knives and blows to protect the compound and Clint and Bruce when she’d know them only a few days.
She’d wrapped Bucky in her wings to protect him on the roof. She had willingly exposed her weakest point, to protect a man who she barely knew. Who, up until a day before, she had only known as the Winter Soldier.
Yes, he cared for her. He liked her. He wouldn’t say he loved her, he couldn’t know that yet, but a part of him wanted to say it. It certainly felt like love.
Bucky had been zoned out for a moment, in his head. When he came back, all eyes were on him again. And everyone had an odd expression on their faces.
Clint’s expression was especially ridiculous. Bucky was pretty sure this was what Shuri had called “heart eyes”. He sorta wanted to slap him, but chose not to.
Then he was sitting there, on the gym floor, watching Steve and Natasha spar, and listening to you laugh. A smile crossed his face. He didn’t say anything aloud, but in his head the team’s words from earlier circled around. Maybe he could say he loved you already…
“Hey,” Sam called from the door, getting everyone’s attention. “You’re gonna want to see this.”
...
With everyone gathered in the conference room, Tony pulled up a display of several files, and began explaining what was on them.
“Wait,” you said, slightly confused. “I thought you said the mission was a fake.”
“It was, but you didn’t think I went into a HYDRA facility and came out empty handed, did you?” Natasha grinned. You smiled back. You had actually assumed that, silly of you.
As Tony talked, you looked at the files displayed in front of you. Several flipped by before you stopped him.
“I know that code.”
“What code?” Steve asked coming to stand behind where you were seated at the table.
“That sting of numbers up at the top left,” you said, pointing to the numbers.
“I assumed that was a case number or something,” Tony said, enlarging the file.
“Kinda, the last 4 are an agent number, the first 2 are a location, the 6 in the middle are a date.”
“Okay, so which agent, went on what mission for HYDRA in Russia, in April, two years ago,” Natasha asked
“I did. I was sent on a recon mission, and it went badly. Really badly.”
