How do you start a blog on a website of its own?

What to write in the about and what to publish as the first article?

1. First you pick a niche for your blog.

2. Choose a blogging platform. I recommend Wordpress.org / Wordpress.com. You can also use Blogger.

3. Choose a domain name for your blog and web hosting provider.

4. Download a blog template and design your layout. You can use Envato market place (I use this one but there are loads)

5. You want to start off with about 5 posts. Here are some things you can do to figure out what to write about:

a. Look at your audience. What are their pain points, concerns, and obsessions when it comes to your products?

b. Use sites like Quora where there are millions of people asking questions to get the best answers.

c. Use blog directories to search by topic.

d. Research competing blogs. Other blogs’ ideas for content in your niche can be a valuable source of inspiration.

e. Use Semrush’s Topic Research tool. With the Topic Research tool, you can enter any blog topic to get a list of related topics and questions that people are searching for.

f. Ask your readers. You can get feedback from your readers on what they want to read about by asking them directly or through surveys.

6. You can use your existing platforms, as well as Pinterest, or other social media platforms to promote your blog and drive traffic to it. It can be under your name or you can make an anonymous account.

7. There are several ways you can monetize your blog:

a. Sell a product or service. You can sell your own products or services on your blog, such as ebooks, courses, or coaching services.

b. Create gated content. You can create premium content that is only available to subscribers or members who pay a fee.

c. Promote external brands. You can promote other brands’ products or services on your blog and earn a commission for each sale made through your affiliate link.

d. Offer sponsored content opportunities to other brands. You can offer sponsored content opportunities to other brands that are relevant to your niche.

e. Provide coaching services. You can offer coaching services related to your niche.

f. Market your freelance writing skills. You can market your freelance writing skills and offer writing services to other blogs or websites.

g. Participate in affiliate marketing. You can participate in affiliate marketing programs and earn a commission for each sale made through your affiliate link.

8. You can use a free image website like: unsplash, pixabay, pexels or canva to create content.

((Hi @sundayinthcpark thanks for the question! It’s not weird at all. I already answered a question similar to this here so you can check out what I said there plus I’ll add a few more things that hopefully aren’t on that other post lol

Give your muse(s) their own space. I gave Scott a blog so we can each have our own spaces, and it’s been nice. You can do more than one muse or you can just stick with the one, whatever you wanna do.

If you wanna go multi, I’d ask a multi muse blog like @multi-muse-transect or @arandomnerdsrp358 if they have any tips.

More power to them to have more than one because Scott and I are a handful all on our own lol

Initial blog setup and stuff can be difficult but totally worth the effort because it makes everything smoother afterwards.

Figure out your rules and tagging system beforehand. Yes tags are important. You will need a tag for lots of things. Simple asks, RP threads, when you get tagged, when you hop on a post, blah blah blah. I hate tags, but they seem to be a necessary evil

When I first started planning, I asked other RP blogs for tips and I also looked at other RP blogs to see what they do and use them as a model. Figure out what they did and how they did it and if I liked it and if it would work for me. And then I adjusted it and applied it for my own blog. Don’t copy! Make it your own. I’m just saying no point in reinventing the wheel, you know?

Once you’re up and running, send simple asks to other blogs to get yours out there. Send yourself some anonymous asks at the start to get some content on your blog. Find fanart or other random posts about your muse to reblog too.

Queueing posts will be your friend once you get the ball rolling. It’s nice lol (you’ll need a tag for queued posts too)

How to start a blog??

Well hello, world.

It is so weird to be writing here, again. Well, not exactly here.

You see, when I was smaller and red the Girl Online by @zoella for the first time, I became obsessed. Like, LITERALLY. I think it's not even too much to say that I've had a crush on Penny Porter(not in a like like way, but as a character, of course). So, I started my very first blog back then, without much of understanding how it's actually done. My life wasn't really intresting(at least that's what I'd believed in), so eventually I deleted the whole blog as I had nothing to write about.

But not too long time ago I actually came to realization of how much I have to say, how much I want to tell and share about.

It occures also, that I am a very shy one. The kind what posts Instagram posts once a year, stories even less frequently. Regardless, having a gallery bursting with pictures(I am a self-made photographer btw) and a huge urge to share with people how amazing my life is, how amazing I am.

So, I guess that's a beginning of a new chapter in my life, where I'll try my best to fight my fears, and to be more exact:

shyness

fear of judgement

fear of being misunderstood

which becomes a total whole new fear of being active on social media

And so, I hope this time the Sad Story Of The First Ever Blogging won't repeat again and it'll be fun experience full of joy and, who knows, maybe even new friends :)

Apparently much-needed reminder that reposting artists' art (by saving the images or screenshotting them and reuploading them yourself) on other platforms without the artists' expressed permission and without credit is theft and an insult to their passion and craft. You are profiting (in views, in attention, in feedback) from someone else's work and ideas, who do not get that feedback for sharing their creation.
