Patting Zoya Akhtar's back for casting a dark-skinned actress to play the rich, desirable, popular mean girl in The Archies (2023) when a light skinned Khushi Kapoor was available to play that role but instead did not.

you know what else made me insane about the "nobody protects nature better than you, sweet amy" scene? in the hindi dub, sonic refers to her as "प्यारी एमी (pyaari amy)" which roughly translates to "cutie/sweet". means the same thing kinda but it made me insane to hear it in my language djzlpakfjalslsj

Help me! Indians and/or James Potter lovers help me out!!
im a big fan of Desi James and i'm writing a fic at the moment and i want to include affectionate language (pet names) from all of my characters national languages and have been digging for some Hindi terms of endearment for a while and am a little lost.
a lot of the searches are coming up with words but not specifying which Indian language it derives from, and I just don't want to like mix languages and be stupid and inconsiderate about it.
anyway, so far i have "Jaan" or "Meri Jaan" which I understand means "life" or "my life" wich is fucking adorable, as well as "Mera Pyaar" (I've seen a couple of different spelling variations of this so please correct me if it's wrong) which i understand means "my love".
both are very very sweet, and i will be using them! however, i've been looking for terms more like "sweetheart", "pretty", "cutie", "handsome", "baby", and stuff like that. you know, terms that can be used a bit more casually, in the earlier stages of dating / sleeping together, before the love and devotion happens!
anyway, any help would be very appreciated. any terms of endearment you know, any extra information you can give me, anything at all that relates to Desi James that would be helpful for me to know is so appreciated!
also any headcannons you have about Desi James would be awesome! especially ones that like involve his culture and stuff like that. id really like to write him well and give authenticity to his character that i don't naturally just have. i am doing my research where i need too, of course, but if you have little things about him that i could simply just adopt or learn about would be so awesome because like, i wouldn't even know to search for a lot of little things i bet.
anyway, thank you!!! i'll love anyone that helps me out so so so so so so much!!
edit: if he were to say "star" or "starlight" or "starshine" or "pretty star" something about stars to someone as a term of endearment (or just affectionately) how would that be said / spelt? i hopped on google but there are so many translations and i don't know which would be correct in this context and im helpless! thank youuuuuuuuuuuu <3

gonna give summary’s of my fave hindi movies main relationships bc i love them (in no particular order)
-Om Shanti Om: Om fr DIES for Shanti and they STILL find eachother in the next life
- 3 Idiots : Her dad hates him and kicks him out of his uni, years later his friends get her from her wedding to a guy she doesn’t really love and bring them back together
-Happy New Year : (might not be accurate on this one) He made her feel good, and not just about her body like the men at the bar did. He trusted her enough to tell her about the plan to get Grover in jail. He loved her for her.
i love hindi movies

hiii, as a native hindi speaker, this would be a more accurate translation of the song
lagi tumse mann ki lagan// my heart has grown attached to you
gali gali ghume dil tujhe dhunde// I roam around every street searching for you
tere bina tarse nayan// in your absence, even my eyes long for you
hey hey! yes! i’d googled it bec it means attached and i’d wondered how they’d translate it, & it hit me precisely bec it said love. i’ve been thinking a lot about whether love & attachment are truly so different - even tho ofc they are in theory, i’ve increasingly been questioning it in my own life lately; and this phrasing almost seemed to present an answer in its silly lil way. esp bec temporality is such a thing w/ them both. anyw, it’s just me reading into things as usual. so much is lost and found in translation. thank u for sharing <3

Hi cutie! I have a question only an Hindi person can answer... I'd like to know some idiomatic expressions for someone you deeply love, or idiomatic phrases to express that to someone you love romantically. Its for a school project (it isn't, I just found an old draft and I thought it could use some flavor)
OOOO That is so cool!! Hindi and Urdu romantic phrases hit diff I swear, here you go. Do tell me how your project went:
Meri Jaan (मेरी जान) - my life
Aankhon ka Tara (आँखों का तारा) - The star of my eyes [can be used platonically or romantically, my mum used to call me that when I was small.]
Dil ka tukda (दिल का टुकड़े) - a piece of one's heart
Ardhang/ Ardhangini (अर्धांग/अर्धांगिनी) - Used for spouse Ardhang is male, Ardhangini is female; both of which mean the half oneself-- the better half [ Ardh mean half and aag means part of a whole in sanskrit]
Chaand Sitaare tod laana (चाँद सितारे तोड़ लाना) - to bring the moon and stars down for someone [ahah this is a little funny these days, but a lot of lovers in olden times used to proclaim that "I'll bring down the moon and stars for you."]
Saaton janmon ka saath (सातों जन्मों का साथ) - to be together for seven lifetimes, to be soulmates [Only when the bride and the groom take the 7 vows keeping the holy pyre as the witness, they are married. The bride and the groom hold their hands and take seven rounds around Agni (fire) and promise to be with each other for eternity]
dilbar (दिलबर) - beloved
Jaan hatheli par rakhna (जान हथेली पर रखना) - to put one's life on the palm of one's hand, to risk everything for love
Dil ka sukoon (दिल का सुकून) - peace of heart
Tum meri sari duaaon ke jawaab ho (तुम मेरी सारी दुआओं के जवाब हो) - You are the answer to all my prayers.
