HuskerDust Headcanons (romantic)
Tumblr media
Husk says “I love you” first. It’s not a big romantic thing, but to Angel Dust it means the world.
Angel and Husk were both quite affectionate with each other. The two can often be found cuddling in one of their bedrooms. Angel loves being held, but his favorite way for them to cuddle is actually having Husk lay on top of him since he finds the pressure grounding, and he’s found that scratching the cat demon’s back between his wings or scratching behind his ears while he’s tired and comfortable results in purring.
Angel steals Husk's hat every now and again.... Sometimes he steals it solely for the purpose of putting it on Fat Nuggets to take cute pictures of him in it.... While the pictures are adorable, this has resulted in the little pig occasionally taking it upon himself to steal the hell cat's hat, resulting in the man chasing the little creature around the hotel like a madman.
Husk becomes the father figure Fat Nuggets never had and Angel absolutely goes crazy for the relationship between his pet pig and boyfriend.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although he doesn’t show it often, Husk does sometimes get overwhelmed, causing him to eventually break down in tears. During these episodes, Angel usually holds the grumpy drunk, rubbing his back and humming “Loser Baby” until he’s calmed down enough to talk, or until he’s fallen asleep.
Angel is a sucker for romance. He buys Husk flowers, makes big plans for their anniversary, makes long and mushy posts and posts cutesy pictures on his sinstagram, and goes all out for Husk’s birthday. Husk acts annoyed, but he secretly enjoys the little romantic gestures.
Despite not being the most romantic man, he does randomly grab Angel at random points while they’re together and begin dancing with the man, even humming or singing softly under his breath when Angel points out that there’s no music.
Charlie has so many candid photos of the couple being cute. She’s making a scrapbook for them for their anniversary
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Husk showed him the song, Angel plays “A Sunday Kind of Love" whenever their anniversary lands on a Sunday and makes Husk breakfast in bed as it plays. He calls it their song.
When Angel can, he does drag shows at one of his favorite clubs in downtown Pride. Husk goes to every one of Angel’s drag shows to watch him perform and despite his usual gruff demeanor, he cheers the loudest when his boyfriend is on stage.
After long, rough shoots in Valentino's studio, Angel usually comes back to the hotel exhausted and sore so he sits at the bar, sipping water and listening to Husk grumble about work until he falls asleep at the bar. Husk usually ends up carrying him to bed despite constantly grumbling about being "too old for this shit".
Tumblr media
In the event that they both wanted to get married, both of these men would try to make the perfect plan to propose to the other.
In an attempt to be romantic, Husk would begrudgingly ask Alastor to help him make a nice Italian dinner and a cake to hide the ring in. He would be an anxious wreck through the whole dinner as Angel ate as he waited for dessert and the discovery of the ring within the cake.
Angel on the other hand would go the cheesier way of dressing Fat Nuggets up in a little tux and tying a ring around his neck with a bow and having him come up to Husk as the two had dessert with a sign that reads “Will you marry my daddy?”
Tumblr media
In true romantic comedy fashion, Angel’s proposal pig would get to Husk right as Angel nearly choked on the ring Husk put into the cake. Of course, they would both say yes.
Despite not being the romantic in their relationship, Husk is a bit of a groom-zilla. It’s not really that he cares about flowers or color schemes or any of it, he’d be happy as long as he’s with the man he loves and their an open bar so he lets Angel handle it all for the most part…. But he does think Angel deserves the best and he’d be damned if he didn’t make sure that man’s day didn’t go absolutely perfectly.
Niffty makes Angel’s wedding dress, and although he will deny it, Husk does cry when he sees Angel in it.
Tumblr media
Husk doesn't choose the first song they dance to, but he does request later in the night that the song Frank Sinatra’s “I Could Write a Book" be played so he can ask Angel to dance to that.
Husk recites his vows to Anthony, not Angel Dust.

a.n - happy birthday beautiful!! i hope this was a good enough present <3
✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧
12:00 AM
Tons of DMs, calls and texts erupt on your phone simultaneously, wishing you a happy birthday. Everyone but the one you wanted most.
Is it wrong to be in love with your best friend since the sixth grade? To a normal person, maybe, but to you it’s the reality you’re forced to live.
4:00 AM
Did he forget? You can’t blame him; he is an idol after all and he’s probably exhausted. At this point the group chat you are in with all the guys is blowing up to the point where you had to silence it once you realized that Hyunjin wasnt responding or jumping in the conversation.
CHILDREN OF CHAN
|lixie - happy birthday cutie
|hanji - HAPPY BIRTHDAY
|hanji - get ready to party bitch. it’s on
|seungmo - im not getting stuck with han’s shitfaced ass this time
|minhoe - it’s only like one in the morning and you’re already plotting?
|innie - felix get back on league
|channie - im trying to sleep
|seungmo - put your phone on silent then old man
|seungmo - nvm you probably dont know how at ur jurassic age
You let out a small laugh and bite your lip, contemplating if you should thank them or not. Ultimately deciding against it and telling yourself that you’ll do it when you wake up, you turn off your phone and roll over onto your side, soundlessly falling asleep.
10:00 AM
There’s a knock at the door, startling you out of yet another poor attempt at sleeping. You hop out of bed sluggishly and make your way to the living room. To your surprise, Hyunjin is leaning against the doorway, having let himself in with the emergency key you gave him when you first moved in.
“Just in case,” He insisted, “What if something happens and you need me? Or vice versa.” The fact that you believed that would be the only scenario he used it for seemed a bit foolish as he visited more and more.
You spot a somewhat large box, royal blue with a red ribbon on top, in Hyunjin’s hands. He smiles and pushes off the doorway. “I’m sorry to intrude like that, you weren’t answering your phone.” He says when he reaches you.
You shrug, “It’s okay. I was only sleeping.” Hyunjin nods and places the box in your hands with a sly grin, “Open,” He gestures towards the box. You move to the couch and take the lid off the box. The first thing on top is your very own Jiniret. “So you stop kidnapping my child,” Hyunjin laughs and slides onto the couch next to you. The next thing you pull out is an all black hoodie and when you turn it around you see Hyunjin’s name on the back. The small gesture shouldn’t cause butterflies to emerge in your stomach, but it does to your dismay.
You take out the rest of the stuff (a few small fake plants, Versace perfume that you scold him for buying for you, and a couple of his PCs sprinkled in between everything). You finally reach the bottom and furrow your eyebrows when you pull out a blindfold. You look at Hyunjin whose expression has morphed into something mischievous. He moves the box out of your lap and takes the blindfold out of your hands before tying it around your head, obstructing your vision.
“C’mon, stand up.” You do and Hyunjin slides his hand in yours, guiding you somewhere.
After a few moments you assume you’ve reached your bedroom, the smell of your favorite candle filling the air. The door clicks behind you and now you’re hyper aware of Hyunjin’s presence.
“Why are we in my room, Jin?” Instead of answering you, he runs his fingers delicately down your bare forearms, leaving a trail of goosebumps in his wake.
“I think we can both agree that we have more than just a normal friendship, don’t you think?” Hyunjin’s voice has noticeably dropped, causing shivers to wrack your body. Your heartbeat quickens so much that you wouldn’t be surprised if he could hear it. “I asked you a question, baby.”
Are you dreaming? You must be dreaming. There is absolutely no way you aren’t. He would never say anything like this. Right? Right. You’re pulled out of your thoughts when Hyunjin places his hands on your hips and presses you flush against his body.
Maybe you aren’t dreaming, judging by the very real, sizable erection digging into your stomach. “Hyunjin I-” You aren’t too sure what to say except to agree with him. He walks you back to the bed and gently lets you down, climbing over you soon after.
“Are you sure?” You know for sure that he would never lie about something like this, especially with you. You’re asking yourself more than you are him.
He toys with the hem of your shirt, “May I?” You nod and raise your arms as he lifts it over your head before immediately attaching his lips to your neck. Hyunjin nips at your shoulder and collar bone before making his way down to your breasts. “Do you want this?”
“Yes, please.” You whine. He unclasps your bra and throws it somewhere. His mouth attacks your right breast, his other hand massaging the other. Your back arches in pleasure and you can’t help but let out a groan. How can’t you when Hwang fucking Hyunjin has his pretty pink lips wrapped around your nipple.
“Fuck, baby. You make the sexiest sounds.” Hyunjin drops to his knees, pulling your shorts and panties down with him. His mouth waters at the sight of his index finger being swallowed whole by your tight heat.
“Holy shit,” You say breathlessly. You raise your hands to take the blindfold but he stops you.
“Not yet, baby. Want to make you come first,” With that he adds another finger and watches, mesmerized, as your cunt takes his digits. The lewd sounds filling the room are enough to make him bust right then and there. He manages to pull himself together though. That is, until he gets a taste of you.
Hyunjin’s tongue slides in between your folds in one flat stripe and he groans. The groan is so deep that you feel it vibrate through your entire being. He traces figure eights across your clit and you swear you're in heaven. His tongue is euphoric and the feeling of his delighted groans are better than ecstasy.
“Hyune, please. I’m almost there.” Your fingers tug at his roots so hard you might have to apologize later. Hyunjin doesn’t seem to mind very much.
“You’re so good for me, baby. Come on, finish for me. Let me hear those pretty little symphonies of moans.” You clench around his fingers as he increases the pressure on your clit, giving you a knee buckling orgasm. You crash so hard that Hyunjin has to hold up your waist to prevent you from falling.
He chuckles and licks the insides of your thighs clean before rising to his feet and pulling you into a wet kiss, your own juices invading your tastebuds. Hyunjin finally lets you take off the blindfold after helping you sit up. The man in front of you looks so proud of himself with a lopsided grin, your release glistening on his lips.
“Happy birthday, baby.” He pulls you into another kiss and cups your jaw.
“This gonna happen every year?” You smile. Hyunjin shakes his head.
“This is gonna happen whenever you’ll let me.”

cna you write Sanji x reader, where Sanji is jealous. So reader wanna buy something for Sanji a birthday and aks zoro to help her with blade knowledge ( she wanna buy him a good kitchen knife) , bur he aussumes she has a crush ?
Sure! Ty for requesting<33
Masterlist
I love you, not him
Tumblr media
You have had a crush on a certain love cook for a while. Long enough for Zoro to notice the obvious lovesick looks you sent to him,
“Oi, out of everyone why that swirly brows?
“H-huh??”
When zoro approached you about it,
You finally caved in and asked for his help.
“His birthday is coming up, could you help me?”
“Why me??”
“Because you know the most about blades and since I want to get Sanji some new cooking materials I need your help! Besides I don’t wanna get teased by nami or Robin”
He agreed once you promised him to buy him a lil something for his birthday too
So once the ship docked the two of you went to explore the island together in search of cooking materials
On your way off the ship though, you felt like you were being watched by someone.
|———————————————————————|
“Zoro! What about this one??”
You waved the sharp object around
“No, it’s too long, and stop waving it around!”
He grabbed your hand to stop you before grabbing the knife and putting it back
You sighed
“We’ve been to five shops and we haven’t gotten a single knife for his birthday!”
“We’ll find one eventually if ya stop complaining!”
You glared at him
“Oi y/n..”
“Yea? Did you find one??”
“No, but that love cook has been following us for the past 30 minutes”
He whispered
“What?? SAN-mph!”
He covered your mouth
“SHH! He’ll hear us!”
You slapped his hand away
“Since when??”
“Since we excited the ship”
“And you didn’t say anything??”
He shrugged
“But I think I have a theory,”
“And what’s that?”
He gestured for you to get closer as he leaned down to whisper something to you
“I think that love cook is a little jealous”
You blushed at the thought
‘Jealous? No way! Does he even like me back??’
You turned to face Zoro with blush still on your face which got even worse once you saw movement in a certain bush
“W-why do you think that??”
“Oh Cmon I know you aren’t that stupid to not notice the extra attention he gives you, especially the glares he gave me once we left together toward the first shop”
“H-he did??”
He sighed
“Yes”
You covered your mouth in attempt to hide your blush
“Well moving on, I think I saw a pretty good knife in that shop right there,”
He pointed at a nearby shop
You calmed down you blush as you nodded, heading to the shop
/——————————————————————-\
As you carefully placed the knife in a safe box you couldn’t help but think about what Zoro told you,
‘Extra attention? To me??’
You always thought he didn’t really like you since he was a little more quiet around you, that’s why you wanted his present to be special! And because your slight crush on the cook
When you and Zoro got back from the shopping, you payed a little more attention on Sanji’a behavior, and that’s when you realized that what Zoro said, was true
‘Maybe he really does like me’
You tried not to think about it much since you didn’t want to get your hopes up just in case
Zoro really was helpful the whole day so you decided to give him a little something since he was so much help
You looked yourself on the mirror and eventually got lost in your own thoughts
“Y/n-swan? Are you in here?”
Sanji’s voice interrupted your thoughts
“Yea m here! I’ll come down in a sec!”
You said not looking back as you fixed your makeup/hair
“Y/n-swan! You look lovely as always!”
He said with little hearts in his eyes
“Ah thanks Sanji! Oh! And happy birthday to you birthday boy”
He smiled back warmly
“Ah your too kind y/n-san!”
You giggled
“Oh! I totally forgot! Here”
You grabbed the safe box and gently gave it to him
“I wanted to give you this a little early because I just couldn’t wait!”
“Y/n-san! You shouldn’t have!”
You smiled back at him
“I had to! You deserve it after all!”
He took the box and softly opened it to reveal a sharp yet shiny knife inside along with a little note that read, ‘Happy birthday lover boy’
He blushed softly
“W-when did you get this?”
“Oh I got it yesterday when I got off the island!”
“But you were with Zoro the whole time!”
You tilted your head
“Yea… to get you this, Zoro is an expert on everything sharp yknow?”
You looked at him curiously
“Wait, how’d you know I was with him the whole time?”
He looked down as if he was ashamed
“I-erm…may have thought that you had a crush on that moss head and gotten a little jealous…. Just a little though!”
Your eye’s widened
He stayed quiet blush growing in his cheeks
“I-l…I sorta have got feelings for you y/n-san,”
He kept looking down as if waiting to get rejected
You blushed hard
“I…you do?”
He nodded, still not looking at you
You softly smiled
“M glad! Because I do too!”
He looked at you shocked
“Really?”
“Really”
He kept looking at you, as if expecting something, anything!
“A-and you aren’t kidding?”
“Nope!”
You smiled and carefully approached him before wrapping your arms around him
He hesitantly returned the gesture, both of you still blushing hard
“I love you, not him”

TWST w/ an MC Who Bakes Them Homemade Sweets! (Housewardens excluding Leona)
Warnings: Mentions/implications of DISORDERED EATING in Riddle and Azul's parts.
GN! Reader
Synopsis: You bake them sweets!
Tumblr media
.~
Riddle Rosehearts:
    * Riddle is a huge fan of sweets! Especially tarts, custards, and all things strawberry~ !!
    * So, if you ever came up to him bearing desserts of this nature, he’d be ecstatic! Though, if you gave him sweets briefly after his overblot incident, I imagine the extremely strong influence his mother had on him may make him a bit reluctant about accepting them (I’m still haunted by that scene where she described the nutritional contents of Riddle’s “birthday cake”. He doesn’t need to hear that!!!)
    * Another thought that comes to mind… Perhaps Riddle has had a fairly weird relationship with food. Is it possible that shortly after Riddle enrolled at NRC, he had trouble deciding what would be best to eat? Would he have also been tempted or uncomfortable watching other people enjoy eating whatever they wanted, along with seeing the abundant presence of sweets in the area? How did he manage Unbirthday Parties up to this point when mostly all they served were candies, pastries, cakes, and sweets?
    * Though, if you gave him sweets a significant while after his overblot, when he has gotten significantly better, I imagine he’d still be very happy and grateful, but less apprehensive about accepting your kind gesture.
** Rushing around the room, you hurriedly scooped the whipped cream into the piping bag from the mixer and grabbed your dessert box and ribbon at the edge of the counter- squeezing the cream onto the smooth top of the custard tart and carefully positioning the fresh strawberries upon the fluffy cream. Then, you sprinkled a light dusting of powdered sugar on top, thus making this strawberry tart sweet enough to give someone diabetes.
And after boxing and tying the tart up in a shiny red ribbon, you flew out of the Ramshackle kitchen and through the front door and sprinted towards Heartslabyul. …
*** Riddle looked to you in surprise. Really? That beautiful tart is for him, you say?
     * “Th- thank you, Y/N! This looks absolutely delicious. Oh? You made it yourself?! My, that’s amazing.” Riddle graced you with a small smile, gazing at the tart lovingly. You think you might’ve even seen a few tears well up in his eyes…
Suffice to say, Riddle was extremely happy with your thoughtful gift and praised you endlessly on the taste. It was as if you imbued magic into the tart to make it sparkle in the light and taste heavenly. Honestly, you think the only other time you’ve seen him smile this hard is when he ranked #1 in every single one of his classes a while back.
… Sometimes… Riddle requests you to help tr*y out with baking for the Unbirthday Parties. Between you and me, I think Riddle asks this because he likes your sweets better than tr*y’s. And though tr*y is kinda mid, you agree. I mean, how could one ever say no to Riddle?
.~
Azul Ashengrotto:
    * Why…. Why would you do this to him…. He’s trying to keep track of his calorie intake, isn’t he?
    * So, you and Azul often have study sessions together. Both of you are very smart and wonderful individuals, and you…. being the angelic lovely soul that you are, like to bring snacks to those sessions. Cue you baking perfect macarons of varying shades for normal study days, piping buttercream frosting onto fluffy cupcakes for testing weeks, and making soft and warm mini waffles for early morning sessions.
    * Azul… absolutely adores you, he does! You’re nice to him, you listen to him, you help him out, and you genuinely want to spend time with him! But… and while he loves your sweets, as well, you’re really just breaking his dieting.
    * Depending on how much he eats of your scrumpdiddliumptious treats and his mood, he either feels like treating today as a cheat day/deserved dessert or as a crime against his body.
    * Though, because it’s you, perhaps he can eat a little more. You are a good baker. .. Maybe you should work at the Mostro Lounge. Here, Azul’ll sign a deal with you~!
** “Are you ready for today’s session?” Azul asked, smirking at you as he plopped a hot stack of papers, books, and study guides onto one of the Mostro Lounge tables. Eyeing the stack wearily and warily, you nodded, also setting your ‘stack’ of sweets onto the table.
You two were studying for the semester exam later that week, and with Grim’s grades, you were sure to get the highest score you could to prevent your average from getting pulled down by Grim.
** As you sat down at the table and got out your pen and notebook, you picked up one of the rich chocolate cupcakes from your stack. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Azul grimace. With a mouthful of delicious, moist, fluffy cake, you asked Azul if he wanted any- and with a shake of his head, he replied, "Oh no. I couldn’t.”
     ** You: “Why not?”
** Azuzu: “You know, I- I just don’t think that much sugar’s good for me…”
*** And with that, your eyes lit up. “Well, Azul… I actually tried some new recipes that reduced the sugar and calorie amounts. And besides, it’s scientifically proven that eating sweets increases focus. I know even you can’t get perfect grades without studying, so why not increase your studying power with a snack?”
Azul stared at you. “You tried a new recipe?”
“Yeah! Especially for you! I know you like sweets, and I know you can be pretty conscious about calories and stuff.. so I… I just wanted to help you be able to eat a lot of yummy stuff without worrying as much about sugar and things…”
At this point Azul wasn’t looking at you anymore. From this angle you could maybe see a faint blush and ghost of a smile as Azul looked at his open textbook. And… possibly with a slight quiver in his voice, you heard Azul ask… “You did this for me?”
You rolled your eyes, a soft smile threatening to show on your beautiful face. “Of course Azul! I like you. I want to make you happy.”
Silence… Then Azul took a deep breath and put on his best client-winning smile. “Well, thank you, Y/N!” And with a much softer smile… One you might’ve mistook for being genuine if you didn’t know any better, “I really appreciate it.”
** You: “Well then, let’s get to stuffing our faces and studying till our brains fall out!!”
** Cue you two finishing the whole basket of macarons you baked, and Azul’s mood increasing exponentially.
.~
Vil Schoenheit:
    * Oh, you’re another one of his fans, yes? Well, Vil will accept your lovely box of homemade chocolates and apple ‘n spice cupcakes with a heart-stopping smile! … And then turn to give it to some lucky Pomefiore soul once you’re gone.
    * Well? Can you blame him? This man is on a strict diet after Rook told him his jawline looked a tad fatter last week. There’s no way he’s going to indulge in some sweets! Not even if he wants to.
    * But… if you’re not just one of his fans…. If he knows you and you two are on good terms, why… Well, maybe he’ll indulge just this once… Oh. OH! OH SEVENS ABOVE!! Dear me, are you a master chef or something?!
    * Vil is astounded! You bake better than tr*y!!! Now, whenever Vil sees you in the halls he has to physically restrain himself from walking over to see if you’ve baked anything new.
    * And if you’ve managed to find a to-die-for recipe that has reduced sugar and calories and all that good stuff? Well, Vil is done for. He’s done. Congrats! He is your man now.
.~
Kalim Al-Asim:
    * This man is a tricky one, for sure. On one hand, your sweets do look delicious, but… he’s had bad experiences with others’ food in the past. The only one he trusts is Jamil!!!
    * Though, perhaps if you get Jamil to approve your food, then maybe Kalim will try it! And if he does? Whoo, boy, Kalim will love you forever!
    * Seriously!! Your treats are amazing!!! They taste so good! And there’s so much variety! There’s the way way too sweet ones (which Kalim loves), the ones that are savory, the ones that are mild…. You make cakes, and pastries, and gelatins, and ice creams….!
    * If you ever start a bakery or try to sell your goods, Kalim will be sure to help you! He’ so grateful you gave him good food and didn’t try to poison him, it’s the least he can do!
.~
Idia Shroud:
    * Is very confused? Why are you giving him candy? Wait! You made this YOURSELF???!! Then why are you giving it to him?! Give this masterpiece to someone better!!!
    * Haha jk lol, but seriously. I think Idia would be touched that you thought him special enough to give him a gift. And homemade, no less! He’ll remember this day forever~ Maybe he’ll find you approachable enough after this event to ask you for more candy, eh?
    * He might even cry and giggle and scream into his pillow while he kicks his feet in the air, who knows.??
.~
Malleus Draconia:
    * Child of Man. One is very touched that thou chesen to grace thyself with the gift of ‘baked goods’. One shall cherish this gift till mine’s last beat of the heart.
    * You heard the man. He loves your gift! Many people are afraid of him, though all he wants is friends. So why wouldn’t he be ecstatic when you decide to show him some love and give him the priceless gift of homemade sweets?
    * Perhaps you’ll gift him more treats in the future? But even if you don’t, Malleus is sure to stick by you. You’re one of the first to approach him, and for that he is grateful. After this event, I’m sure he’d want to know more about you, and become true friends. Sebek is probably jealous of you, though, so watch out….
.~
**They got progressively shorter as it went on. Sorry :( And a special apology to Leona likers.
**I know Vil also has a slight weird relationship with food, but I wrote this at a time when I didn't know that, and I'm too lazy to rewrite things. Maybe in the future I'll do him and Leona justice.

call it what you want: tyler duke
tagging: @ivy-34, @francesfarhadi, @hzstry8, @cixrosie, @itsnotgray, @estapa94, @trevs-swiftie, @heartz4hisch
Tumblr media
two months.
that's how long you and tyler duke have kept up your fake relationship.
two months and you've got squat for your side of the deal.
"tyler this isn't really fair. you've got your biology grade up and i am no closer to talking to will," you pointed out.
tyler didn't really say anything. he just stared at you and shrugged before trying to take a bite of his ice cream.
you slapped his hand away and made him look at you. "the others would want to know how our ice cream date went," you reminded him.
"fuck, why did i say we were dating again?" he mumbled.
"i wish i knew," you replied.
“so why are we at this ice cream shop?” tyler asked.
"they have my favourite ice cream" you answered, giving him a shrug.
tyler stared at you before eating his ice cream.
he wanted to say something to you but one of the waitresses came by with a banana spilt.
"the guys over there wanted me to give this to you," she gestured to the counter where luke and dylan were standing.
you groaned and hit your head against the table as tyler rolled his eyes at the older boys.
"what are you doing here?" tyler asked, his voice laced with annoyance.
"ice cream," his brother replied, lifting the cone he bought.
luke happily took a seat next to you whilst dylan sat next to tyler. the former took a spoon from the bowl and ate a good chunk of the banana split he bought.
"i also know what day it is and knew you'd want someone other than mini duke to keep you company," he added.
tyler looked between you and luke in confusion. he then looked to his brother with raised eyebrows. "it’s my birthday," you told him sheepishly
"what? y/n/n i’m such a horrible boyfriend!” he exclaimed. truth be told tyler knew your birthday was this month, he just couldn’t remember the exact date.
in his head, he had planned a dinner with you and an amazing night to celebrate your birthday.
you smiled at tyler and held his hand. “it’s okay ty. i didn’t want anyone to make a big deal out of it,” you told him.
luke then proceeded to hand you a small teal bag. you looked at the bag sceptically before peeking inside.
"luke warren hughes, how did you afford this?" you asked.
inside the bag was a teal box which contained a dainty bracelet, the tiffany blue heart dangling on the end.
a small piece of paper caught your eye next "oo, there's a little card!" you squealed.
luke was quick to slam his hand over the paper. "this is personal. it's between me, you, jack and quinn," he emphasised.
your heart melted.
the hughes brothers always wished you for your birthday as soon as the clock struck twelve. it had been a tradition since you could remember
it was definitely more of an effort than your own siblings had made.
tyler could sense that your emotions were running haywire so he intertwined your fingers with his. you looked up sat him and smiled before leaning on his shoulder.
"i really just came to give you this present and wish you happy birthday munchkin," luke wished you once more before leaving the shop.
you and tyler stayed seated at the shop for another twenty minutes before he drove you home.
the next day, after your study session with tyler, the boy had given you twenty minutes to get changed before calling you back to his car.
"are you going to tell me where we're going?" you asked. tyler had told you to get dressed in your best dress and refused to elaborate any further.
the two of you arrived at a fancy restaurant and tyler acted as the best gentlemen he could. "I hope you know I didn't forget your birthday y/n/n. i just got the dates mixed up," he explained.
you smiled and kissed his cheek. "it doesn't matter ty,"
but the duke boy shook his head. “you’re my girlfriend y/n/n and i want to spoil you,”
you never got to ask what he meant until he pulled out a little gift bag, the same colour as the one luke got you.
“i know you like that one taylor swift song where she talks about wearing a guys initials on her neck so i umm thought you would like this,” he mumbled.
“but if you don’t like it then that’s fine cause i can get you something else!”
you leaned over and kissed tyler on the lips.
“i love it ty,”

CREAK
You looked up from your bed as you heard the window open slightly, letting in a draft of cold air. Quickly throwing the cover off, you crawled to the foot of your bed where the window was situated, tilting your head to the side slightly with a smile. Peering in through the window, was the unmasked face of your best friend, Hobie Brown.
"What are you doing here? It's past midnight!" You exclaimed, hugging your knees to your chest as you watched him pull himself into your room, hitting his head on the top of the window in the process. "Ow!" He let out a groan before he put his hands on his hips, looking down at you. "Happy Birthday, dove. Looks like I'm the first person to wish you" He asked with a smile. "Did you really think I was going to leave you alone on your special day?"
"Hobie, if I get caught this time..."
"You won't." he extended his hand out towards you, a confident grin on his face. "Come on, you trust me, right?"
You looked up at him, biting the inside of your cheek. "But what about the curfew?" Ever since Spider-man had showed up, only a few months ago, President Osborne had implemented a curfew of 10 pm, stating that anyone who left their homes after that time period would be severely punished. But then of course, Hobie had never been much of a rule-follower.
"Since when have I ever followed that stupid curfew?" He asked with a lopsided smile, reaching his hand out to you a little further to coax you into taking it. "Come on, I've got something amazing planned."
You hesitated for a moment before taking his hand with a sigh. "Fine." You muttered, letting him pull you off the bed and open the window a little further. "Just trust me, dove, we'll be fine." he gave you a gentle smile before pulling himself out the window. You stuck your head outside, waiting for him to balance himself before pulling yourself out as well, his hand holding your waist to keep you from falling.
He used his hands to stick to the wall and held you to his chest. "Shit, I forgot the mask. Can you put it on for me?" He asked tentatively, leaning back slightly to look at you. He nodded towards his pocket and you reached inside, grabbing the mask and gently pulling it over his head while he kept his arms firmly wrapped around you.
"Ready?" You smiled in response, putting your arms around his neck and holding on tight while he secured you to him with a web, tying it tightly before he leaped off the side of the building. "Where exactly are we going?" You asked, closing your eyes as he sped up, swinging through the dark, empty city. "You'll find out."
The two of you stayed in the shadows of the sky, careful not to let any of the soldiers patrolling the streets see you. They were all armed with their guns, and Hobie knew that if they caught even a glimpse of him, they'd shoot without a second thought.
It only took a few minutes before you arrived to your destination, a tall building with clouds surrounding the edges, making the height seem even more intimidating. You timidly stepped down from him, the elevation making it slightly hard to breathe. "Uh...Hobes? What is this place?"
"Shhh, just trust me." He repeated, taking your arm and leading you towards the edge. He pulled off his mask and took a deep breath before he gestured out into the distance. It took your eyes a moment to adjust to the night, but once you did...you expression morphed to one of pure awe.
The lights of the city were dimmed due to the curfew, making the night sky completely visible. The stars looked close enough to touch, making it seemed as though if you reached your hand up, you might just be able to grab one of those twinkling lights. The moon was full and bright, illuminating the roof and making the scene even more magical.
"So?" He asked, gauging your expression, trying to determine whether you liked the view or not. You gave him a wide smile, closing your eyes as you laughed. "It's amazing. I don't ever think I've seen this many stars before. Thank you."
"Yeah, well, there's less pollution this high up." He replied, looking down at his feet awkwardly, avoiding eye contact. "I'm glad you like it."
You sat down on the edge, the wind nearly pushing you off, and dangled your legs over the side, looking down at the quiet city beneath you. "It's peaceful up here." You said quietly, still trying to fully take in the gorgeous view. "Probably the best birthday gift I've gotten today." You chuckled.
His eyes widened. "This isn't your birthday gift." He said, shaking his head. "Nah, I've got you something else too." You gave him a confused look as he began to search through his pockets, eventually pulling out a tiny wrapped box with a small handmade bow on top. "Open it."
You glanced up at his excited expression before taking the box in your hands, fingers running over the soft satin bow as you untied it. You took the top off and you stared down at the present in shock. "What'dya think?"
You pulled him into a hug, a stupid grin on your face as you profusely thanked him. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" You exclaimed, squeezing him so tight he could barely breathe. "I'm-g-glad you liked t-them!" He replied, gasping for air.
You'd been asking him for your own pair of web shooters ever since you'd found out your best friend was the masked vigilante known as Spider-man. He'd refused at first, saying he didn't want you involved in his crimes, but it looked as though he'd gifted you them anyways.
You took the web shooters out of the box gently, clasping it onto your hand. You tried to shoot it, but nothing came out. "Huh?" You pressed again, a little harder. "I haven't put the fluid into it yet." He said, taking your hand in his and wiping away a smudge off the cool metal surrounding your wrist. "I'll put it in later, I promise." He gave you a sheepish look. "I used it all up a little while ago when I was fighting Kraven."
"That's okay!" You were still over the top with happiness as you pulled him into yet another hug. "I can't believe you actually made them! You're amazing!" He blushed as he accepted your hug, awkwardly patting your back. "Of course. I'd never leave my dove hanging." He said quietly, clearing his throat.
Hobie hadn't always been awkward around you. In fact, before you'd moved away, the two of you had been so close, people would get scared if they only saw one and not the other. Your family and friends would come up to you asking, 'Where's Hobie?', and vice versa.
After you'd moved, he started to see you less often, get-togethers only happening every month or so. Your families had grown apart and you didn't eat dinner together anymore. You lived too far apart, it took too long.
And then, Hobie's neighborhood was raided, Osborne's soldiers took over, and his mom and youngest sister died. His father had gotten sick, and although your family had tried to help as much as they could, he eventually died. Hobie was left alone with his brother, who was barely able to provide for him. You stopped seeing him completely.
That was until one day, he'd showed up at your window with a bite mark and his brother's old jacket, saying that you were all he had left and that he needed your help. Sometimes he'd sleep in your room without your parents knowing and other times he stayed at shelters and such, completely alone. You were his only friend, his only family, all he had.
You were also his first love. Of course, you didn't know about that yet, he was too shy to tell you, but you still meant more to him that most others ever had. It was why he worked hard to come see you so often, why he'd made these web-shooters for you. Maybe you could really be by his side from now on, rather than just the girl that cleaned him up after a bad fight. Maybe...you liked him back.
Actually, he was planning on telling you. That's why he'd brought you to such a quiet place, given you his birthday gift for you, and that's why he was sitting next to you right now, stealing glances while you played with your new web-shooters.
"So, has the center found you a foster family yet?" You asked gently, looking up at him with a concerned expression. His eyebrows immediately furrowed and he looked away. "They've tried. But I told you, I don't want to live with a foster family."
"Hobie, come on. It won't be that bad. What if they're really nice?" You suggested, hugging your knees to your chest as you looked up at him. "What if they're not? What if they're racist, or-or fascists, or-" he stuttered, trying to find an excuse for why he drove away every family that tried to take him.
He couldn't let you know the real intentions behind this. He couldn't let you know that he was afraid that whatever family took him would take him away, move somewhere, and force him to leave you behind. He enjoyed these moments with you, being able to sneak into your room whenever he wanted and take you wherever he wanted to go.
And being Spider-man would be even harder if a family took him in. They might end up finding out, and who knows if they'd turn him into the cops or if they'd use it against him. He couldn't risk that. No, living at the shelter was the best thing for him right now.
"My family could-"
"No." He immediately shut you down and your expression sagged. You knew if you tried hard enough, your parents might be willing to take him in. He seemed to hate that idea even more. Your family had moved away because of your dad's job as a cop, and Hobie despised cops. Cops were the reason his family was gone and cops were the reason he had been living in such a shitty neighborhood to begin with. He didn't trust living with one, no matter how much he cared about their daughter.
"Can we talk about something else?" he asked, looking back at you with a pleading expression. "Okay, what do you want to talk about?" You asked.
You shivered as another cold draft passed by the two of you. It was freezing at this height. Hobie's expression softened as he noticed this and he pulled off his vest, wrapping it around you before pulling you a little closer. "It's bloody freezing up here." He chuckled, teeth chattering slightly.
The two of you huddled together for warmth as you continued to talk, the conversation shifting towards more pleasant things, like his music, your art, etc. You rested your head onto his shoulder as he worked himself up over his guitar, talking about the songs he was planning on writing, the new rhythms he'd learned. He hummed them out to you as you listened, ranking them based on how much you liked them and how catchy they were.
It had been maybe an hour or two since he'd brought you here, and you were obviously starting to get very sleepy. You were nodding off as he continued to talk, and he pulled you a little closer, letting you press your head against his chest and get comfortable. You would've fallen asleep too, if it wasn't for the-
BOOM.
You jumped slightly and Hobie immediately looked in the direction of the noise, completely alert. "What was that?" You asked nervously. Smoke was coming from the distance, looking as though some sort of bomb had been set off. He looked down at your for a moment, a knowing look in his eyes. "I've got to go."
"But, Hobie-"
"I'll come back for you, I swear. Just stay here and stay safe, okay?" He said quickly. He didn't have time to plead with you right now, all he could do was make you promise to stay put. You looked at him for a moment. "Just...you be safe, okay?"
He nodded, taking your hand in his. "Always." He brought your hand to his lips, kissing your palm gently before walking toward the edge and leaping off the building, pulling his mask back up in the process. You watched, unsure of what to do now.
You'd promised him you'd stay put and it wasn't like you could get off the building in the first place, so really you were stuck up there. You kept your eyes on his retreating figure, powerfully swinging down to the city below while you simply shivered, holding his vest around you a little tighter.
And then, you heard another explosion. The sound caused you to fall back slightly out of shock, but this time, you were unsure of where it'd come from. It sounded a lot quieter than the last one, and it also sounded much, much closer.
You peered over the edge of the building, searching for where it could have possibly come from. That's when you noticed, the line of tiny green orbs, latched in groups on the wall of the skyscraper. You continued to stare, trying to recall where you'd seen them before. They looked so familiar...
Suddenly, one of them exploded, causing the building to shake slightly. The one right above it began to quiver, as though it might be next. You let out a soft gasp as you walked back from the edge, going back towards the middle of the building. Those green orbs weren't orbs. They were bombs.
And who else would use bombs to kill their victims?
"Hobi-Spider-man!" You called out in a fearful voice, hoping he'd hear you despite him being long gone. "Come on, come back!" You yelled.
"Spider-man isn't here now, kid." A loud cackle came from behind you and you yelped, turning around to see none other than the Green Goblin, more bombs in hand as he stared at you from atop his wavering hoverboard. "What? You weren't expecting me?"
The building shook again as the next bomb went off and you fell to the ground, trying to get back up and regain your balance as the building wobbled. "Wh-what do you want?" You asked, looking back over the edge as you backed away.
The Goblin only approached you, getting closer and closer. "I saw you, I saw that little punk swinging you up here. You're his friend, aren't you?" His menacing voice sent chills up your spine. No...he couldn't find out. You had to keep Hobie safe.
"No, I'm not." you said quickly, continuing to back away until you were only on the edge of the building, cornered by the masked man. "He just helped me out, I don't know him." You were breathing heavily now, your chest rising up and down as you tried to seem like some random civilian, hoping it would be enough to protect Hobie.
"Ah, but we both know that's not true." The Goblin chuckled. He was close enough to reach out and grab you at this point. "If you won't give him up...well, I suppose I'll have to force you."
You leaned back slightly as the Goblin's hand reached out towards you, fear flickering across your expression.
Suddenly, the building shook again, harder, as the rest of the bombs blew up at the same time. You found yourself falling back, unable to keep your balance. You screamed as you felt the ground disappear from beneath your feet and your stomach drop when you began to fall.
The only thing you heard was the Goblin's laugh as he swooped towards you, grabbing you by the shirt and dangling you over the city. He pulled you a little closer as you struggled, holding onto his arm and protesting. "Now let's go and find your little friend, shall we?"

"Maybe she'd like something a bit more bitter—? No, that's ridiculous. What kind of sweet tooth would like something bitter? Maybe something minty would go well with the occasion—"
"What the hell are you doing, Kasa?"
Yelping, the red-headed leader of KNIGHTS stood up from his crouching position, eyes wide as he faces his blue-eyed senior that had his hands on his hips. "S-Sena! What brings you here?"
"Look, I can't just stand here and watch you murmur to yourself while you ruin your posture crouching at the bottom cupboards." explained Izumi, sighing. "I can smell chocolates—didn't Valentine's already pass?"
Tsukasa fumbled with his uniform. "I know I could've had my gift ready two days ago..."
"Whaaatt? You're giving someone handmade chocolates!?" Izumi raised an eyebrow, leaning on the counter with a teasing glint in his eyes. "My, my, Kasa, I never took you to be that kind of person."
"I-It is only polite to gift someone something for their birthday, Sena!" The purple-eyed teenager retorted. "There's nothing else behind it!"
Izumi tilted his head. "Wait, birthday?" He paused. "Aha, is it I think who it is?"
Tsukasa looked down in shame. "Please don't tease me about it..."
"Well that is indeed gentlemanly of you, Kasa!" Said Izumi with somewhat sarcastic praise, not listening to his plea. "Especially since you're aware of her big and obvious crush on you, no?"
"I-I am fully aware, yes...!" Tsukasa exclaimed, a pink blush adorning his cheeks. "It would make her happy! It is only proper to make a lady happy on her special day—!"
"But you'd give her false hope, Suu," said Ritsu from behind the red-head with a mischievous grin. "Though, that wouldn't be a problem unless you like her back~?"
"I DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR THOSE KINDS OF THINGS, RITSU!" Yelled Tsukasa in panic, turning around to face his black-haired unit mate with his ears turning red. "As I mentioned earlier, it is but a formal gesture!"
"But you didn't deny the fact that you like her?" Taunted Ritsu. "Oh dear, we have a bad case of a crush here."
Tsukasa started gripping his hair in irritation. "I don't like her, either! She's messy and forgetful, she doesn't even try to tidy up her hair after tying it, she overworks herself, she stresses out too much on things she shouldn't—!"
"Kasa, Kasa!" Izumi slapped the back of his head. "Liking someone isn't gonna kill you, idiot! No need to be so in denial about it!"
The KNIGHTS leader shook his head, on the verge of pulling his hair out because of his seniors. "I'm not in denial!"
Ritsu sighed, walked over to Izumi, and gave him a pat on the shoulder. "Let's leave him be, he'll figure out the obvious himself."
Izumi scoffed. "Fine," he replied, turning away and walking out of the kitchen with a wave of a hand. "I'll go find Leo so we can practice after lunch."
"Heh," Ritsu chuckled, leaning towards Tsukasa's ear with the same grin. "She likes milk chocolate with raisins and nuts, by the way."
Tsukasa crossed his arms and huffed, cheeks going pink. "How picky."
The older idol laughed. "Right?" He then gave him a pat on the shoulder too. "Good luck with your chocolate." He said before leaving the kitchen, probably to nap under another tree.
"...thank you." Murmured Tsukasa who was back to being alone in the kitchen in ES.
His eyebrow twitched. They're making me think I'm in denial, He thought. Which I'm sure I'm not. I'm only doing this purely out of formalities, yes. No more thoughts will eat my brain.
Tumblr media
He was wrong.
Tsukasa stood in front of a theatre arts course classroom the next day, holding a heart-shaped box of what was obviously chocolates behind his back. His purple eyes wandered around the room to find a certain girl laughing and chatting with her friends. He was unable to take another step—he didn't know why, himself.
He watched as she talked, holding a notebook and pen in her hands at the same time. It looked like a graphing notebook—perhaps her unfinished math homework? He bit the inside of his cheek. She could've finished it the day prior. He thought.
[name] suddenly laughs at her s friend's statement, slamming her pen on the table they surrounded and coughing in surprise. Her [hair length] [hair color] hair was messy as usual, even if attempts to make it tidy were evident.
He liked her laugh. He never got to hear it a lot outside of school due to differences in jobs, but it was entertaining to say the least. Her laugh wasn't elegant or even formal in anyway—rather, it was funny. He almost laughed himself after hearing it with a little snort.
[name]'s classmates then started noticing the idol was waiting for someone as he stood in front of their doorway. Why was the leader of KNIGHTS in the theatre course area of Yumenosaki? [name]'s friend asked themselves that as they nudged her, nodding their head at Tsukasa's direction.
The girl glanced at him, her eyes turning wide and her cheeks turning pink. She stood up quickly. "K-Kasa! What brings you here?" She asked, her voice cracking.
Tsukasa cleared his throat, tightening his grip on the box behind his back. He could hear the little giggles from students passing by as they get a good view of the obviously romantic gift. He wanted to jump out of the building that moment.
...dear God, please help me today. He thought to himself.
He inhaled. "Do... Do you have a minute?" He asked slowly. [name] immediately nodded and shuffled through the classroom that now had their eyes on the two pink-faced teens.
"Yes...! I do have a minute!" Said [name] after standing in front of him. She ran a hand through her [hair color] hair. "Do you need anything?"
Tsukasa looked down at the floor, the ceiling, the rest of the classroom—anything that wasn't her eager eyes. He gulped, his mouth starting to feel dry. "W-Well, it's your birthday, right...?"
[name] nodded again. "Mhmm! I'm growing older, now—against my will, mind you."
The boy resisted the urge to chuckle and took a deep breath. Slowly, he revealed the heart-shaped box of chocolates from behind his back, handing it out to her whilst bowing. He was thankful his hair was long enough to cover his reddening face. "H-Happy Birthda—no, Valentine's? I mean, it is your birthday, but..."
She wasn't given any time to respond as the cheers of her classmates roared in the room, attracting passerbys that were curious enough to see what was going on. Murmurs mixed with the excited squeals that were deafening to their ears. A moment after, the school speakers started to ring, alerting them of the voice that was to be heard a second later.
"Aaa, aaaaaa—CAN EVERYBODY HEAR ME!?"
Every single person either flinched or covered their ears from the loud volume of a rather familiar voice. Tsukasa had sensed danger from the voices alone and squeezed his eyes shut.
"Leo! The volume is too loud, you could've made everyone deaf!" Said a scolding voice from the speakers. "I can't believe you even dragged me into this nonsense, we're not even supposed to be here, we're graduates!"
The massive iconic laugh of the person named Leo echoed throughout the whole school. "But we did get permission from Emperor, right!? We're fine~!"
A sigh was then given. "Please forgive us for taking your time, everyone." The voice apologized. "As you know, I'm Sena Izumi, and the loud idiot who almost bursted your earsdrums is Tsukinaga Leo. We are here to broadcast a message on Suou Tsukasa's behalf."
The previously silent school then started booming with whispers and excited giggles. Tsukasa felt many eyes on him—as he was supposed to be used to it, their gazes were not of the usual ones he knew was to be given. He hadn't expected this; he wasn't even expecting his own seniors to interfere! It was supposed to be a short interaction: him giving his gift to [name], greeting her a happy birthday, and then getting along with his day. But NO! They just HAD to do something stupid!
Tsukasa stood up straight, still holding out the box of chocolates, and then glancing at the speakers. "That is a complete lie! I hadn't requested anyone NOR any of you to deliver a message for me PUBLICLY!" He stated.
His two seniors seemed to have heard him clearly somehow, both chuckling at his response. "We know you didn't ask us to do this, Suo~! But it's for your own good, y'know?" Leo said, making Tsukasa's ears turn red in embarrassment. "It's not a want, it's a need!"
"WH—WHAT DO YOU MEAN—!?"
"Not everyone knows, but a certain friend of ours just turned older today, and it was a big deal for our dear little Kasa." Izumi started, ignoring Tsukasa's pleas to stop talking. "It was quite annoying seeing him fumble in the ES kitchen yesterday, wondering, 'What would [name] even like!? Dark chocolate? Milk chocolate!?' He had been murmuring the same thing over and over since the 14th! Why couldn't he have asked her? Because he's a coward, that's why!"
Giggles and teasing glances were thrown at the red-faced Tsukasa as he stood still in his place, powerless and unable to even speak a single word. [name] stared at the speakers with wide eyes, wanting to question the boy in front of her immediately but decided to listen in on the story more.
"Suo~ had been anticipating this day so badly, y'know?" Leo added. "He was more excited than [name] herself. I wondered if the Christmas spirit was late to get to him until Naru explained why he was as fidgety as a little kid. I was like, 'oh! So that means he wants to gift [name] something big? Does he like her that much?'"
"And Kasa was quick to retort with, 'no I do not! It is but a simple gesture of gratitude and formality!' and all the other things he says all the time." Sighed Izumi. "It's like that every time we mention [name]. 'She's messy and disorganized! She frequently stays up late, her eyebags can be mistaken for emo make up!' he says!" Laughs erupted from the surrounding students, making Tsukasa's hands shake in nervousness as the 'broadcast' went on.
Leo laughed along and sighed. "We are here today to show how proud we are of our little leader of KNIGHTS, despite him being in denial most of the time!" He stated. "You were in the process of giving the chocolates to [name], no?" He asked, and everyone knew he meant Tsukasa.
He stiffened. [name], meanwhile, glanced back at the boy after looking up at the speakers the whole time, her flustered expression catching the eyes of the witnesses from all around her.
"Hey, [name]!" Leo called. "There's a crumpled letter taped under the lid of the box—it's obviously written by Suo~! Fortunately, Naru was able to sneak it back in the gift before Suo~ could leave for school!"
The red-head perked up at the mention of the letter. Before Tsukasa could even react, [name] was swift enough to open the gift and take off the letter from the lid, moving it away from his extending hand as she read the contents with her hand raised up high.
"From what I remember, the letter says," Leo hummed. People could visualize him rubbing his cheek as he looked up at the ceiling in thought. "Thank you for being born. You are very special, and I appreciate you. Happy Birthday, dear."
Everyone went silent as they all processed the contents of the letter—the intended recipient staring at the said crumpled paper, her face slowly going as red as a sweet and ripe cherry. 'Dear'? She thought. ...DEAR!?
Tsukasa's thoughts were in an endless spiral.
He didn't think they'd find the letter he wrote on a whim—he thought it would be too much to give. He didn't even like her that way, he thought. But denial was a river in Egypt, and [name]'s feelings being reciprocated was definitely real.
He was slowly learning to accept it, and he kind of hated that.
[name] slowly lowered her hand, eyes glued onto the letter. Tsukasa then grabbed her hand and placed a kiss on her knuckles, causing both of their heart rates to increase simultaneously. He smiled against the skin of her hand, murmuring,
"Happy Birthday, and Happy Valentine's."
Cheers, screams, yells, and somehow the sound of metal clanging spread across the classroom. [name] and Tsukasa's flustered faces being displayed for everyone to see, it caused the word to spread like literal wildfire and eventually, the school erupted with celebration.
Ritsu and Arashi popped out from the back of the classroom, both giggling as the former held a camera in his hands. "The others are gonna love~ this."
Arashi sighed, leaning her head on the palm of her hand. "They look so adorable together! I wonder when the wedding will be~?" She asked, purposely increasing the volume of her voice to tease the two at the front.
[name] was speechless at that point—staring Tsukasa and their joined hands back and forth, stammering and unable to think straight. It was a hilarious sight for most.
...but it's a cute sight for me. Tsukasa thought, smiling softly to himself.
After realizing what kind of words his brain had just formed, he let go of her hand and grabbed his hair, squeezing his eyes shut in embarrassment. "GAH!"
The girl jumped in surprise. "WAH!?"

To build a home (a family)
The accidental Yiling Wei sect AU
3.2k words
Happy birthday, Wei Ying! <3
The last thing Lan Wangji had expected to find when he finally decided to visit Wei Ying in the Burial Mounds was - a gate. Tall, ornate, dark mahogany with motifs skillfully carved into it and two disciples, a man and a woman, guarding it.
They wore black robes with only the hems a vibrant red, swords resting at their hips as they scouted the area, talking quietly amongst themselves. They looked no different from disciples from other respectable cultivational sects - if anything, the way they appeared to carry themselves could have put many disciples from highbrow clans to shame. Lan Wangji couldn’t help the pride rising in his chest - of course, these two were Wei Ying’s disciples after all, and he was nothing short of exceptional, of course they had to be too.
Still, Lan Wangji couldn’t help but be surprised at everything that lay before his eyes. He had heard that the community Wei Ying nursed in the Burial Mounds had grown - the cultivation world had a lot of gossip to spread about that, none of it much too believable if you knew anything about Wei Ying and his heart - but Wangji hadn’t expected it to be a full blown settlement comparable, perhaps, even to the Cloud Recesses.
From a distance, Lan Wangji could make out the contours of many buildings, faint silhouettes of people roaming the busy streets, and so much greenery, trees, bushes and flowers, as if drawing a border with the rest of the cursed earth around. It was a lot like Wei Ying, if Lan Wangji thought about it - full of life and resilient even in the darkest of hours, stubbornly optimistic and courageous.
When he approached the gate, the two disciples took a step forward and bowed slightly, before one of them, the lady, spoke: “Please state your business with the Yiling Wei sect.”
Yiling Wei... Lan Wangji supposed it had a nice ring to it. Really nice. He would have to call Wei Ying by his title now, how interesting.
“I have come to visit Wei Yi- sect leader Wei.”
The woman’s eyebrows furrowed, the grip on her sword tightening. “Sect leader Wei has told us of no visitors today.”
“He couldn’t have, I have not announced my arrival beforehand.”
“Very well, then.” And she nodded towards her partner, “We will need to inform our sect leader of your arrival and see if he wishes to see you, could you please give us your name?”
“Lan-”
Boisterous laughter interrupted the conversation, as Wei Ying and a gaggle of disciples, most of them young, followed behind, all smiling as he told them something, spinning Chenqing in one hand and gesturing with the other. The sight almost filled Lan Wangji’s eyes with tears.
Wei Ying looked nothing like he did during the Sunshot Campaign, pale and bony, anger and resentment swirling around him like a misplaced shadow. His smile reached his eyes now, his complexion healthy, a set of beautiful red and black robes on his body, nothing like the tatters Lan Wangji had seen him wear before. His hair flew behind him with a healthy shine, unbound, with his usual red ribbon tying some of it back. Lan Wangji supposed he should have been wearing a headpiece, but then again, Wei Ying was never one to care for such things.
“Lan Zhan!”
He couldn’t ignore the way his heart picked up at the sound of his name, Wei Ying’s voice so loud and happy.
The two disciples at the gate bowed, Wei Ying smiled at them curtly and they took their places back near the gate.
Lan Wangji found it appropriate to bow, but Wei Ying was quick to stop him. “There’s no need for that, Lan Zhan, really.” he laughed. “It’s weird enough that all these people do it, you don’t need to do it too!”
“Weird?”
“Now you didn’t think I built all this on purpose, do you?”
Lan Wangji must have looked very incredulous, comically so, because Wei Ying burst out laughing and some of the disciples that followed him did as well. He was quick to chide at them.
“Don’t you laugh, you lot! This is the great Hanguang-Jun, you know? Show some respect!”
The crowd quickly settled in a quiet murmur.
“So, any specific reason why you’re here or just visiting?” Wei Ying asked as he led Lan Wangji through the gate, the gaggle of disciples still behind him, eager to pick up on the conversation.
“Visiting. I have not seen you in a long time.”
“Yeah, things have been busy for everyone, it seems. I honestly don’t remember the last time I didn’t have paperwork to do!”
“Sect leader Wei, you don’t do most of it.” a feminine voice came from the crowd. “You bribe us to.”
“Hush now! It’s disrespectful to eavesdrop, do you want me to look bad in front of our guest?!”
“No, but you shouldn’t lie, either.”
Wei Ying gasped, playfully scandalized. “My own disciples that I clothe and feed and train have betrayed me!”
“They are right.” Lan Wangji decides to join the banter. “It is forbidden to lie.”
“Well, this isn’t the Cloud Recesses! And technically, I didn’t lie either! I said I have paperwork to do, not that I’m doing it!”
There was laughter again and Lan Wangji couldn’t help but agree. The place was so full of life, abound with people and businesses and schools, that the Cloud Recesses seemed quite bleak in comparison. The buildings were all well maintained, with their individual quirks and character, and somewhere at the end of the main road, slightly elevated, a larger house seemed to almost preside over the town.
Taking a more serious stance, Wei Ying turned to the disciples, who seemed to know it was time for business and straightened themselves out.
“Ill be having lunch with Hanguang-Jun, so it will be Wen Ning to oversee your training today. You’ll be working on your archery, so make sure to pick up all the gear you need from the armory. Don’t forget you have classes with Wen Qing in the afternoon.”
The disciples bowed in understanding and scattered, leaving Wei Ying to guide his guest towards his home.
---
Paintings hung on the walls, natural light from the large windows making the colors vibrate with the warmth of the sun. The furnishings were of the same wood that Lan Wangji had seen around town, masterfully crafted and decorated with flowers and all sorts of intricate carvings.
Wei Ying invited Lan Wangji to have a seat at the table in the middle of the room and asked a servant for food and drinks before joining him.
“There is something I wish to ask you.” Lan Wangji started, trying not to latch onto the way Wei Ying seemed so keen to listen to him and how beautifully he smiled. “You told me at the gate that you had not planned this. What did you mean with that?”
“Exactly what I said. I would’ve never thought I’d end up creating a sect, much less ending up as that sect’s leader. That wasn’t my intention at all, never. I guess it just... happened.”
The servants brought in trays of food and drinks and set them on the table. Lan Wangji noticed his own food was much like the one he was used to eating at home - so Wei Ying must have ordered them especially to his taste. The knowledge had something warm bloom in his chest, and his ears dust pink.
“You know it was just the Wens and I, at first. But one day, a woman, Liao Meixiang, came to the Burial Mounds with her two children, toddlers. She was running from an abusive husband and asked me to let her stay with us, because the Burial Mounds was the only place he would never dare step into. So I let her, I couldn’t have lived with myself knowing I could help her but didn’t.” A smile. “The disciples at the gate are her children, by the way. She’s now the head seamstress, everything we wear comes from her hands.”
Wei Ying took a sip of his drink - some sort of alcohol, Lan Wangji figured - before he continued. “Then, another woman showed up with her sister, they’d lived in a brothel but were kicked out with no place to go. They sold all their jewelry to try and pay to stay here, but I let them even without. One of them works as a medic with Wen Qing now, the other one is in charge of the kitchens, she’s a great cook.”
The food was, indeed, wonderful. Lan Wangji listened on.
“Then this kid showed up, Xue Yang. A little punk looking for revenge. He believed all those outlandish stories about the Yiling Patriarch being an undefeated demon and wanted to sell his soul to me for power or something.” Wei Ying laughed. “He’s my head disciple now. And has toned down the revenge thing, even if he’s still a bit of a punk. Old habits die hard, I would know.”
Wei Ying winked, playful, and Lan Wangji’s ears went a bit redder than he would have liked them to.
“Word got out that people in need could come to the Burial Mounds, and despite what it used to be like here, a lot were desperate enough to stay. It wasn’t just the poor and unfortunate either. There were some smaller nobles, merchants, craftsmen... people that were trying to run away from something. Good, kind, skillful people. In fact, everything you see in this room and in this community was created by them. I only helped with the cultivation issues, everything else is their doing.”
“You teach cultivation as well.”
“I do, yeah. I didn’t want to, at first. But in a place like this, you have to know to defend yourself, and before I knew it, I was holding lessons and everything. I felt like old man Lan Qiren! They even went around calling me Teacher Wei and everything, it was so funny!”
Lan Wangji agreed, it was indeed amusing to imagine little disciples calling for Teacher Wei and having him teach them how to hold their swords and draw up talismans.
“The swords...” Lan Wangji began, suddenly curious. “Are they spiritual swords?”
“Yes and no. You see, I don’t have Suibian anymore, but the more people gathered here, the more I needed a sword to protect them, one that could withstand the conditions and be able to defend against everything. So I came up with a solution: I created a sword from the iron I could find around and infused it with resentful energy.”
“There is no iron in this area.”
Wei Ying’s eyes glinted with excitement and pride. “Remember the blood pool in my cave? There is iron in blood, and I found a way to extract it.”
Lan Wangji found himself speechless. Wei Ying truly was a genius, beyond anybody’s understanding. Such a possibility would have never crossed Wangji’s mind, and he is quite sure that nobody else in their generation would have either.
“Interesting, right? The blacksmiths here worked day and night and now I have my very own sword. I don’t use it often because I don’t need to, but it’s really not that different from a regular spiritual sword. Resentful spirits are still spirits, after all.”
“Are all the other swords the same?”
“Not all of them. There’s way too many disciples now and they would have drained my blood pool! One of the people here comes from a family with a tradition trading metals and other necessary materials, and we made a deal with them to give us those things in exchange for a pretty small sum of money. Now we use a special recipe to make sturdy swords and only have them bathed in the blood pool to have spirits assigned to them.”
“It is said that you have amassed a lot of wealth.”
Wei Ying couldn’t help but laugh. “I’m not the next Jin Guangshan, that’s for sure. But we do live comfortably. Some agricultors have taught us how to purify the land here and we’ve been having plentiful harvests since, so we sell a lot of it. We also do a lot of paid night hunts and small jobs like that, although we’re really cheap compared to everyone else, which mean there’s always requests. Not to mention, Wen Qing’s clinic has also attracted a lot of people. As I said, people here are amazing, they brought a lot of money and products here with their skills, and that’s how this whole sect has legs to stand on.”
“You have done well leading them.”
“Honestly, it’s still weird to me. All I wanted was to offer people a safe place to stay, I didn’t even notice when all this became so big. The first time somebody called me ‘sect leader Wei’ I almost fainted. I never considered myself as such!”
Lan Wangji couldn’t hold in a smile. “Sect leader Wei should not be so modest.”
Wei Ying’s cheeks bloomed red. “Don’t tease me, Lan Zhan!”
“I am not, this is simply the truth. You give credit to the people for everything you have achieved here, but without you, none of this would have happened.”
Wei Ying rested his face against his palm, a teasing smirk on his lips. “My, my, when have you become such a smooth talker, Lan Zhan? If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you want to earn my favor.”
The way Lan Wangji both seemed to blush and pale at the same time was nothing short of peak comedy, and Wei Ying couldn’t stop his giggling fit even if he tried (he didn’t).
Lan Wangji frowned, though. “Do not make light of such things.”
“Okay, okay, I’m sorry. You make the funniest faces, though, I can’t help it.”
Lan Wangji decided to hide in his teacup. Sect leader or not, Wei Ying still knew how to get under his skin. Did he really not know what effect he had on Lan Wangji? Surely, he was... troubling before, but now, so effortlessly powerful and confident, happy and healthy, with such a loving and supportive community that he lead kindly... somehow Wei Ying had become even more attractive and even easier to fall in love with.
“What’s on your mind?” Wei Ying asked and Lan Wangji became acutely aware of the fact that he had been staring into his tea for a while now. Embarrassing.
“Have you been invited to the discussion conference next month?”
“I have no idea!”
Lan Wangji blinked exactly twice before he sighed, closing his eyes. He should have expected that.
“Don’t look so disappointed, do you know how much mail I get? I have three assistants and it’s still not enough to vet through! But anyway, I don’t think I got invited, they’d pop a vein if I walked into Jinlintai as sect leader, can you imagine?”
He could. Wei Ying walking through the ornate doors of the discussion hall, imposing, unparalleled in his strength and wit, nobody daring to challenge him, his stature and manners and appearance commanding the room... Wangji would definitely enjoy seeing that. He would enjoy it a lot, especially knowing how ready Wei Ying would be to put some of those entitled cultivators back in their place. That would be quite the sight, indeed.
But Lan Wangji’s fantasy was soon interrupted when the door the room swung open to reveal A-Yuan, slightly older now, waving a stack of papers as he rushed in.
“Xian-gege, look, look! I didn’t make any mistakes in calligraphy today!”
Wei Ying picked him up and put him on his lap, admiring the writing on the papers. “That’s great, little radish! Your teacher must be so proud!”
“She sent me to you! She said you should hang this up on the wall with the drawings I made!”
And surely enough, one of the walls did not don the beautiful paintings the others did, but was instead filled with childish drawings, attempts at writing and talismans, and all sorts of scribbles on small papers.
“Well, if she said that, I’ll do it. But now we have a guest.”
A-Yuan only then seemed to finally notice the other man, and he beamed at him. “Rich-gege!”
“Hey!” Wei Ying protested, “I’m rich now too, why don’t you call me that?”
But A-Yuan didn’t seem to care to listen. “Have you come to stay with us?! You won’t leave like last time, right?!”
“A-Yuan... Hanguang-Jun has his own home, you know? He can’t just stay-”
“I will think about it.”
It was easy to see how flustered Wei Ying became, his face as red as his robes. “Lan Zhan! Didn’t you say not to joke about such things?”
“I am not joking.”
Before Wei Ying could say anything, A-Yuan continued. “Will you marry too? Xian-gege really needs a wife!”
“A-Yuan!” Wei Ying finally found his voice. “You can’t just say things like that to people! And shouldn’t you be getting ready for training by now?”
“Oh, I do!” And he jumped off Wei Ying and ran to the door. “Xuanyu-gege said he’ll show me how to fly on the sword today!”
And off he was, down the hall, the amused shouts of the servants following him out. Wei Ying could only sigh and hope Mo Xuanyu wouldn’t get A-Yuan hurt, because it would be Wei Ying to deal with Wen Qing after that.
“I apologize for that, A-Yuan really has no filter and-”
The fond expression on Lan Wangji’s face took Wei Ying completely off-guard.
“I do not mind.”
“I know, he’s just a child but -”
“No. Being yours. If you wanted. I wouldn’t oppose that.”
“Lan Zhan...”
A small, teasing smile. “And you are a sect leader now. As A-Yuan said, you do need a wife.”
(They do marry, in the end. There’s minimal opposition from the Lan sect, because Wei Ying is a sect leader now, and even if they don’t like his cultivation practices, marrying the sect’s second son to such a powerful figure could only be a beneficial arrangement.
The wedding was the talk of the cultivation world for months, years even. It had been a spectacular affair, befitting the newlyweds, with the Gusu Lan and the Yiling Wei sects coming together quite beautifully, alongside other friendly clans. Despite that, Wei Ying and Lan Zhan didn’t spend much time at the party - they celebrated by themselves, in the sect leader’s quarters, and everywhere else private they could find after that.
Dual cultivation granted them both immortality, despite Wei Ying having no golden core anymore. The specifics of the process were quite complicated and Lan Zhan still had a hard time wrapping his mind around it all sometimes, but Wei Ying was a genius and he figured it out, so that was all that mattered.
The Yiling Wei sect was accepted as a great sect about a decade later, and the number of people under Hanguang-Jun’s and Sect leader Wei’s rule only kept growing. As did their love.)

Chris or whoever of his characters makes his GF's birthday special because it hasn't been in a long time
Best Birthday Ever
A/N: A couple of things, Firstly, Chris, if you're reading this, this is my dream birthday. Secondly, rewatching glee so shameless plug for what I think is the best cover ever. Thirdly, the dress. OMG. Actually why am I spoiling this, read the story you're going to love it. That's all. TY 💕
Tumblr media
The anxiety swirled in your stomach when a glorious bouquet of flowers arrived at your desk. You sighed opening the card already knowing who it was from.
1 day till the big day, get excited. Xo Chris
The big day in question was your birthday. You learnt long ago to not get excited about your birthday. Yeah you’ll get a gift from your mom, a card from your grandma and a bunch of flowers from your bestie and maybe if you’re lucky a few Happy Birthday texts from some friends but ever since your 21st birthday in which only 10 people showed up out of the 30 you invited all feigning excuses of being away, sick or celebrating some distant aunts wedding anniversary you have since tried to avoid making a big deal of the day all together. You found it best to just save yourself the embarrassment.
Chris, on the other hand, had been buying a gift every day from the 1st of this month leading up to it. Chocolates, flowers, making special dinners, little, small gifts like jewellery, perfume, plants or quirky knick knacks for your desk. In his opinion, one day wasn’t enough for you and you need to celebrate the whole month.
While you appreciated the gesture and enjoyed the curious enquiry with a subtle envy from the girls in your office about the beautiful bouquet. You really just wanted to snuggle on the couch with Dodger, watching a movie, maybe even get super crazy and crack open a pint of Ben & Jerry’s… birthday cake flavour of course. Besides, all your besties from college were scattered around the world and your family a good 12-hour flight away.
Tumblr media
You arrived home, throwing your keys in the bowl and shrugging off your coat.
“Honey, that you?” Chris came bounding down the stairs, Dodger in tow.
“Hey baby… did you get my surprise.”
“I did thank you they were beautiful.” Closing the space between you, wrapping your arms around his waist.
“I want to skip my birthday.” You looked up at him, resting your chin on his chest.
“Oh, come on baby, you’re not that old. Look at me! I found 10 more greys in my beard. 10! That’s 10 more since last week.”
You chuckled rubbing his beard into your hands.
“It’s not about getting old. It’s just the day itself is never that good for me.”
“Well, I’m going to change that.”
“Oh really?” You questioned him.
“Yeah really, tomorrow night we are going out.”
“Argh do I have to? Can’t we just stay in and watch that new Netflix movie.”
“No arguments. Please, you have to trust me on this.”
“Ok, fine, I trust you.”
You wake up, to the soft singing of Happy Birthday, opening your eyes, there was your gorgeous boyfriend, in nothing but his boxers, holding a singular cupcake and lit candle in his hand in the doorway. You sat up as he walked towards you shielding the flame with his other hand. Dodger jumped on the bed, smothering you with kisses.
“Happy Birthday to you…” Chris finished his serenade.
“Make a wish beautiful.” You blew out the candle
You wished for the best birthday ever.
He leaned down, grabbing your cheek, pulling you into a long, passionate kiss.
Placing the cupcake on your bedside table.
“And now for the best part… Birthday sex.” He beamed. You couldn’t contain your giggles as he tackled you back down into the sheets.
Tumblr media
Your workday went by breezy with more cake, more Happy Birthday singing and more jokes about getting older but not wiser,
That was until you got a string of calls:
The first from your mom saying she was sorry she couldn’t be there, but she’d bring your gift next time she sees you.
Then from your best friend, who understandably, couldn’t go halfway around the world for a singular day but you should expect a package at your door.
Then a group call from your college girlfriends who were either working or caught up with the kids but who had all pitched in to get you a voucher to your favourite restaurant and wanted to make sure you had a drink on them.
And finally, texts from your siblings and cousins, with Happy Birthdays and Love you’s but no promises to visit anytime soon. Ya know life is crazy busy etc.
It was fine. Totally fine. You still had tonight with Chris. This thought didn’t stop you from shedding a few tears on the toilet at work. Why would you even assume that anyone in your life cared that much to travel to see you just for an irrelevant birthday. You were delusional. But after tonight the day was over and you didn’t have to go through this again for another year.
At least they remembered, I guess. You sighed, wiping your eyes with toilet paper.
Tumblr media
You got home and continued your same routine, keys in bowl, coat on rack. But no Chris and just Dodger sitting at your feet.
“Where’s daddy Dodge?” The pup crocked his head in confusion, letting out a little whine.
Great. Not here. And not even a text. You figured he had a sudden work thing pop up and would be back shortly.
You went upstairs to your bedroom, hoping to lie down before you had to get ready. When you noticed the large box on your bed with a card on top, addressed to you, naturally, it was your birthday after all and any box with a bow on your birthday is instantly yours.
You opened the letter, immediately noticing Chris’s handwriting.
  Y/N,
Put this on. Car is arriving out the front at 7. Be ready by then. I had to pop out to run errands and will meet you at the restaurant. Love you, Chris.
You thought it was sweet he got you a car, but you were a little disappointed he couldn’t take you there. Your disappointment quickly disappeared though when you saw the dress in the box.
You gasped at the sight of the shiny dress with feathers on the hem. Holding it up, you didn’t even want to guess how much it cost, not to mention the matching bag and shoes that came with it in the box.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Excited to put on the opulent garment you jumped in the shower, taking your time getting ready knowing you had 2 hours, you blow dried your hair and used all your best makeup products. Finally, you slipped on the dress.
“OMG it has POCKETS!” You admired yourself in the mirror, repeating the action of slipping your hands in and out.
The tightness of the dress engulfed your curves, showing a decent amount of cleavage and the noticeable bump of your ass.
Chris definitely chose this dress.
You got a text on your phone telling you the car was out front, so you grabbed your bag, gave Dodger a kiss and made your way outside.
The driver stood outside the black Mercedes.
‘Happy Birthday ma’am.” He tipped his hat as he opened the passenger door, holding your hand as you scooted in carefully. “Thank you.” You smiled at him.
Champagne. Thank God. You gulped down the glass as you sat in anticipation of what Chris had planned.
Finally, you arrived at the fancy bistro, making your way inside, the whole place was empty which was unusual for the Michelin star restaurant, on a Friday night none the less.
There he was. Sitting at a table right in the middle of the room. He looked drool worthy in his smart outfit, his khaki shirt slightly unbuttoned revealing his gold chain and a peak of his tattoos.
Tumblr media
He finally looked up and caught your eye, jumping from his seat and straightening his tie, holding out his arms for you.
“There she is!”
He pulled your hand and spun you around, getting a full 360 of the dress.
“God, it looks even better on you.”
“I love it so much, thank you it’s the best gift ever” You wrapped your arms around his neck.
“That’s not your surprise but I’m glad you like it.”
What else could this man have possibly install for you?
The waiter immediately brought out your starter. You sat and ate, devouring all your favourite foods cooked to perfection, platter by platter.
Chris looked at his watch 8:32.
“Shit we are late, come on, get up.”
“What are you talking about, we haven’t even had dessert yet!”
Chris fumbled with his words “I’ve got something different planned for dessert come on.” He coaxed you out of your seat. You made your way towards the door you came through, Chris pulled on your arm back.
“No, we aren’t going that way, over here.”
Walking towards the back of the restaurant, Chris lead you towards an inconspicuous black exit door.
“Chris we can’t go through here!”
“You wanna bet?” He said as he opened the door, revealing the best thing you have ever seen.
The door opened to a beautiful courtyard, covered in fairy lights.
Tumblr media
  In it stood:
  Your mom,
  Your dad,
  Your siblings,
  Your cousins,
  Aunties, uncles, grandparents,
Your whole friendship group from college with their significant others and kids.
All of you and Chris's mutual friends.
  Heck, even your work friends.
  And of course,
  your best friend.
All in one place, for you.
“SURPRISE!”  They all shouted at you.
You almost bowled over in shock but not before your bestie ran up and engulfed you in a hug.
“But you all said… I thought… with the travel… and the cost of plane tickets…and… you-“
“Chris flew us all over here, sorted everything down to accommodation, travel, babysitting, food even drinks!” She beamed, shaking a cocktail in her hand.
“You did all this?” You turned around to your boyfriend, standing sheepishly, his hands behind his back.
“Yeah, it took a bit of rearranging and months of planning but yeah I did.” He smiled
You practically jumped on him, unable to wrap your legs around his waist due to the dress. He lifted you off the ground, hugging you back.
“Thank you.” You whispered in his neck.
“Nothing’s too much for you babe.”
“Best. Birthday. Ever. And it’s all thanks to you.”
“There’s one more thing.” He gestured to his right; a choir had formed into positions all dressed in black.
And then they started to sing.
youtube
Your favourite Glee cover. Sung by a professional choir. No fucking way. Tears started to well in your eyes from joy as you felt a strong arm wrap around your waist. You looked up at the beaming man who leaned close to your ear.
“Told ya to trust me.”
You spent the night, catching up with friends you hadn’t seen in months, drinking from bottles of expensive French champagne, dancing like crazy and telling Chris a billion times over how much you loved him.
Your birthday extended all the way to 5am in the morning and you wondered how he was going to top this next year…

A Gift
@pastellbg
Rose examined her brother-in-law and sighed. “You're…”
“A mess?” Jakkon raised an eyebrow. “I know.” He brushed off his hands on his rumpled shirt and smoothed his thick curly hair back.
“Oh shut up, Horns. I'm here to help you. Don't be mean to yourself. Not today.”
“What do you mean not today?” The Satyr hesitated. “Is today something special? It's not your birthday, or Eveny's and my anniversary… what is it?”
Rose stopped, stunned for a moment as she realized he didn't know, and then shook it off, forcing a smile. “Uh… nothing.”
“Petals… if I forgot something important, I fully expect you to slap some sense into me.”
“Will Do Horns, but anyway, go change, you should look nice.”
“What… Am I missing?”
“I'll tell you when you're done. Now go!”
“Okay?” Jakkon retreated back into the room and opened it a few minutes later wearing a nicely fixed suit. “So what's going on?”
“Nope! I'm fixing your hair.” Rose put her hands on her hips.
“What! No! Don't touch my hair!” Jakkon pulled back from her but Rose dodged around him and grabbed ahold of his ponytail. “Hey!”
“I'm gonna comb it.”
“Why? What is happening today? Why are you doing this to me?”
“Because it's fun!” Rose tightened her grip. “Sit down.”
Instead of throwing her off as he very well could have, the Satyr obeyed and dropped to a kneel on the floor as Rose pulled a comb from her bag and started working on his hair.
“Petals… really… in all seriousness, what am I missing? If you're forcing me to- OW!” Jakkon tensed as Rose ripped the comb through his hair, pulling a small chunk of it out.
“I swear, I'll tell you when I'm ready for you to hear it. I know you were very… um… not happy… last night at that stupid Nobleman's ball we all had to go to. And I intend to make it up to you.”
“Thank you Rose. That…” he lowered his voice a little. “Actually means a lot… But maybe you could make it up to me without- Ow! Holy fuck Petals! Maybe not ripping all my hair out!”
“You're welcome! It's not my fault your hair is so thick! When was the last time you combed your hair?”
Jakkon didn't respond.
“That was an actual question, Horns. I want an answer.” Rose smirked as she ripped the comb through his hair again.
“Mmmm… can I pass on that question?” He smirked as Rose continued to comb out his thick hair as best as she could.
It took her about an hour to fully fix his hair, but when she was finally done, she took a step back. “Hm! I think you look good! Though…” She narrowed her eyes. “Hold on.”
“What?”
“Close your eyes.”
“What? Why?”
“I'll tell you in a minute.”
“Ugh… I really hate you sometimes, Petals.” Jakkon crossed his arms and closed his eyes.
Rose gathered all of his hair in her hands and then, with a light tearing sound, dropped it.
“What- What the hell did you do?” Jakkon reached back to his hair and picked up a handful of his black curls.
Rose punched the air, a fistful of hair in her hands. “I fixed it!”
“Um…” Jakkon paused for a moment. “Thank you, Petals.”
“Oh… Uh… you're welcome, Horns.” She smiled. “Now I think you're ready. Follow me.”
Jakkon stood, tying the rest of his hair back in a loose ponytail as he did as told and followed his sister-in-law down the hallway. “So… are you going to tell me?”
“Hold on.” Rose stepped to the side and poked her head into the dining hall. “Is it done?”
Finn's voice replied. “Yep!”
“What the hell is going on?” Jakkon looked around as Rose led him into the main hall, where the others all stood, surrounding a table.
Rose gestured to a box. “Open it!”
“What is this? Petals- what? What is going on? Why haven't you told me what today is? Is this just some big prank?”
“No!” Rose rolled her eyes. “Just open it.”
“Fine.” Jakkon stepped up to the box and sighed. “This is stupid.” He pulled the box open and froze when he caught sight of the thing within. A tiny orange fluffy shape curled up on top of a quilt.
“Is that-”
The tiny cat lifted it's head, a small squeak escaping the box as it looked up at the Satyr, stared into his eyes and rubbed its face against the hand still on the box, purring softly as it pressed itself against him.
For the first time in a long while, Jakkon's face broke into a grin as he picked up the kitten and held it gently in his arms.
Rose smiled back at him, tears brimming in her eyes. “I can't believe you forgot Horns… Happy Birthday.”
[Yes, Jak forgot his own birthday because he didn't think it was worth remembering.]

Tumblr media
The world seemed to still as your eyes met, both of you staring at one another like a deer caught in headlights. Vernon blinked first, rapidly, swallowing hard.
“What are you doing home?” You broke the heavy silence with furrowed brows, finally shaking your shock and frankly just happy you weren’t in the middle of a home invasion. He looked down at the lamp you were grasping in your hands and burst into laughter, the reality of the situation setting in.
“Did you bring that to attack me with?” He choked out around giggles, causing your face to heat up as you set the porcelain base on the countertop.
“I brought it to attack whomever was robbing my home, actually,” you scoffed in response, padding over to wrap your arms around his waist and bury your face into his chest. His sweater was soft against your cheek, and even though it smelled of the detergent you always used, he smelled like home. “I thought you left for work?” He raised a hand to pet your hair, smiling fondly as your words were muffled by his clothes.
“We have the day off today, I just wanted to surprise you,” he murmured into your hair as he pressed a kiss into it. “I went to the store, look!” You reluctantly pried your face away to look at the kitchen countertop before you, wondering how you hadn’t seen the assortment of finger foods when you’d initially walked in. Sandwiches were in the process of being cut up into cute triangles and various fruits were packed into tupperware containers, fresh pastries nestled in greaseproof paper beside them. He started towards the living room, begrudgingly removing your arms from his sides. He felt like every part of you was made for him, as you fit together so perfectly, like you were a puzzle piece he’d been missing. He adored your warmth and your scent, the way you nuzzled into him at any given opportunity, the way he could feel you smile against him even when he couldn’t see your face.
Your hand fit snugly in his as he led you through the doorway, gesturing proudly to the sofa. Sat atop the cushions was a wicker basket, delicately weaved, large and spacious with white ribbons adorning the handles and circling the middle. You gasped at how pretty it was before it hit you; you’d mentioned in passing that you’d never been on a picnic before a few weeks ago when Vernon had chosen Emma for your weekly film night, but you hadn’t put much thought into it.
“You remembered that?” You smiled softly, touched by the gesture, and he nodded with a grin.
“I might forget my own birthday sometimes, but I never forget anything you tell me,” he chuckled as you pulled him in for a chaste kiss, your arms wrapping around his neck.
“Thank you,” you whispered, to which he kissed you briefly again.
“Anything for you, wifey,” he cooed, chortling when you exaggeratedly pretended to gag. “I’ll finish the food, get ready to head out.”
Tumblr media
The breeze was soft, tousling your hair and tickling your skin as you laughed heartily with your husband. The sky was azure and entirely clear, deep blue fading to a silvery pale hue on the horizon, and the trees rustled gently as if conversing with one another. Magpies sat among the leaves, calling out and singing, but the sound was drowned out by shrieking children playing nearby. The food was delicious, moreso in your opinion because you were enjoying it with your favourite person in your favourite park. You pointed every dog you saw out to him with an excitement he was always quick to mirror, and earned kisses all over your face as a result, him squealing about how you were irresistibly cute.
Eventually, you let your head fall into Vernon’s lap as you giggled at another one of his silly jokes, not missing the way his face softened when he looked down at you. He brushed a strand of hair from your face and let his hand rest warmly on your cheek, both of you falling suddenly quiet as you simply observed one another.
“You’re so pretty,” he hummed after a moment, eyes scanning over your face tenderly.
“You see my face like, every day,” you chuckled, trying to wave off his compliment in spite of the knowledge he could feel the heat rising in your cheeks. “Even when you’re on tour, I’m literally your phone wallpaper,” you picked his phone up from the gingham blanket and showed him the screen as if he were somehow unaware, making him scoff.
“Doesn’t matter, you’re still absolutely angelic,” he said, pressing his lips into a thin line as he took his phone back and with it, your focus. “If anything I find you even prettier with every day that we’re married.” You pouted at his words, inexplicably shy, which caused him to grin fondly. “You’re adorable, too,” he laughed, reaching for the pot of strawberries he’d been eating before you’d distracted him and holding one to your lips. You took a small bite and hummed, feeling entirely peaceful, as he put the rest of the fruit in his mouth and sighed contentedly through his nose. He leaned back on one arm, using it to hold his weight while the other stroked your hair, occasionally removing it again to feed you another strawberry, his mouth turning up every time you whined at the loss of touch. You watched the children in the playground before casting your eyes back to your husband’s annoyingly perfect, chiselled face, finding him surveying them as well.
“What are you thinking about?” You asked quietly, almost inaudibly, to which he shook his head.
“I think that’s a discussion for another time,” he replied wistfully, to which you nodded, snuggling further into his lap. “We should definitely make a routine of this, whenever we have the time,” you closed your eyes and hummed in agreement.
“I just enjoy spending my time with you, no matter what we do.”

Me, swinging the door open, panting and sweating profusely: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I MADE IT! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABYGIRL!
Tumblr media
As usual, written as f/o self insert but welcome to (and easily) read as x reader.
Summary: Reigen goes to a carnival with Serizawa, Mob, Ritsu and Ren (OC) for his birthday.
Warnings/tags: some serirei, obviously, a brief mention of throwing up, playful teasing, lots of fluff
Word count: 2.3k (whoah didn't realise that)
Happy Birthday!
"Happy birthday!" Reigen's eyes jolted open, as he sat straight up in his bed. His eyes were bleary still, as Serizawa and I jumped at him, giving him a big hug. Mob sat at the edge of the bed, uncertain. I reached out to them, and they joined in the big hug, squishing into Reigen.
"What? How did you get in here?" he asked, his voice muffled against the collective hug that was still forced upon him.
I leant back, as did the others, as we sat around the birthday boy on his bed. "I let them in!" I exclaimed, giving him a kiss on the cheek.
His cheeks burned red, and he fixed me with his best glare. Serizawa looked at me with wide eyes, looking rapidly between me and Reigen and the door. I grabbed his hand. "Don't worry Seri, Reigen's just being grumpy because he doesn't like being woken up. He's really happy that we've come over to celebrate, aren't you Reigen?" It was my turn to fix him with a glare.
"Yes. You're the pain in the ass, Ren. I'm very happy to see you, Seri," he grabbed Serizawa's other hand, "And although it's a little odd, I'm happy to see you too, Mob." Mob smiled from their perch at the end of the bed. "Although, if you don't mind, I'm going to go back to sleep." Reigen lay back down and turned away from us.
"You know what to do," I said.
"Stacks on!" shouted Serizawa, as we all jumped onto Reigen, piling on top of him.
"Nooo!" yelled Reigen, "fine, fine, I'm up. Now please, keep yourselves busy while I get ready for work. Because it's still a FRIDAY even if it's my birthday, so we're gonna suck it up and go."
We did as we were told and kept ourselves busy, but there was no way we were letting him go to work. When he emerged, Serizawa gave him a big bear hug, and Mob ran behind, tying a blindfold over his eyes as I tied up his wrists. "What?" Reigen laughed, "What on earth are you guys planning?"
"You'll just have to wait and see."
We pushed Reigen out the door and guided him through the streets, onto the bus, and walked him to our destination. All the while, getting lots of strange looks…
"You guys, we have to go to work."
"No, you do not! There's no clients coming in today, we all scheduled time off for your birthday!" I explained, as we took off his blindfold and untied his hands, revealing the huge carnival ground in front of him.
His eyes were wide and sparkling, eyebrows raised, and his mouth opened wide as he took it in. "It's the Autumn festival…" he spoke in hushed tones, "I haven't been since I was a kid… Always been too busy for one reason or another…" He turned to me, tilting his head slightly to the side, smiling a lopsided smile. "Thank you for bringing me here."
I shrugged, and pointed to Serizawa. "Don't thank me, it was his idea." I said, squeezing Serizawa on the shoulder. Reigen looked up at Serizawa, his eyes somehow wider, and his smile brighter. Serizawa rubbed the back of his neck, smiling sheepishly. Reigen gave him a big hug and Serizawa blushed.
Reigen coughed and straightened himself up, attempting to regain composure. "Hey Mob, have you ever been to this festival before?"
"No, Shishou," Mob shook his head, "I haven't. What's so special about it?"
Reigen gasped. "What's so special?" he repeated, baffled. "It's the Autumn festival! There's rides, prizes, and lots of junk food!" He slapped Mob on the back, excitedly, then gestured at the fairgrounds. "This place, is the place where you will find true happiness and make the best memories of your life!" He said with his typical bravado. I rolled my eyes, but Mob and Serizawa looked excited.
"Hey, Ritsu!" Mob yelled out to his younger brother approaching.
"Ah, Ritsu, you're here too!" Reigen said, excitedly, grasping Ritsu's shoulder.
Ritsu shrugged. "Happy Birthday," he said.
Reigen sighed at Ritsu's disinterest but quickly regained composure. He grabbed Serizawa and I by the wrists, and started pulling us into the fair ground. "To the tea cup ride!"
Serizawa went pale. "The… tea cup ride?"
Reigen laughed and continued pushing us forward. "You'll be fine! I hate rides, but this ones the best!" Mob and Ritsu trailed behind, as Reigen ran ahead, pointing out everything that's changed since he was here last, simultaneously acting like a little kid and an old man at the same time.
After a tedious wait, which Reigen said has always been the case, we got on the ride. Serizawa was pale as a sheet, and he held onto my hand and Reigen's hand so tight I thought he was going to break it. "Hey, you know you don't have to do this, right?" Reigen said to him.
Serizawa nodded, but his eyebrows furrowed and he clenched down his jaw, and stepped onto the cup first.
We all sat down. Ritsu looked completely unphased. I did invite him but he's mostly here for Mob. Mob looked a little nervous, but Serizawa, despite his momentary determination, was sweating bullets. Reigen's hands seemed to have more of a mind of their own then usual, flying everywhere, as he talked with a huge grin on his face about the ride.
Once the ride started, though, Serizawa was so close to breaking my hand. Reigen finally stopped waving his hands and instead, he furrowed his eyebrows and closed his eyes tight until the end of the ride. He fell onto Serizawa's shoulder as soon as we stopped moving.
I nudged him. "Are you alright?"
He groaned. "No."
Serizawa, on the other hand, was smiling widely. "I did it! I went on a ride! And it was… sort of fun!"
I laughed. Mob and Ritsu were talking amongst themselves. "I'm glad you enjoyed yourself! I'm also glad you didn't break my hand!" Serizawa smiled sheepishly. He turned and seemingly just noticed Reigen, half passed out on his shoulder. His expression immediately filled with concern.
I nudged Reigen again. "Come on babygirl, stop being a wuss," I said.
"No," he pushed his head further into Serizawa.
People were filing off the ride, so Serizawa simply picked Reigen up, and we walked off the ride with Serizawa carrying Reigen bridal style down the steps. Once we were out of the way of people, Serizawa put him down, and Reigen's face lit up again. "That was fantastic! Let's go again!"
I laughed at him, Mob and Serizawa looked at him concerned and Ritsu just rolled his eyes. "I don't know, Shishou, you look pretty out of it," Mob commented.
"Nonsense!" Reigen exclaimed, waving his hands and patting Mob on the back. "I'm perfectly fine!"
"Really?" I asked. Reigen nodded. "Well, if your that confident, why go on the boring teacup ride again? Why don't we go on that?" I asked, pointing to a roller coaster at the edge of the fairground. Reigen followed to see where I was pointing. As he saw the massive height of the roller coaster, the upside down parts, the corkscrew, and heard the distant screams of the people on the ride, his face turned ashen. "Are you still feeling perfectly fine?"
Reigen glared at me momentarily before straightening up and smiling broadly. He gestured towards the roller coaster. "Yep! Let's go! Come on, you guys!" He walked forward, but stopped abruptly when he noticed no one was following him. "Aren't you guys coming?"
"Um, no thanks," Serizawa said, "that's beyond my limits for today, sorry."
Reigen rolled his eyes. "Mob?"
"No."
"Ritsu?"
"No way. Unlike you, I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm scared of that."
Reigen scoffed, attempting to regain control of the situation. "I'm not scared!"
"The amount your sweating would say otherwise," I said, "don't worry babygirl, I'll hold your hand." I walked up to him and grabbed his hand as we walked forward.
He swatted my hand away. "I'm not a child! I don't need you to hold my hand!" I glanced at him out of the corner of my eye. He was blushing and staring fiercely at the ground. Despite my ultimate goal of embarrassing him, I started to blush too - he was just too damn cute when he was feisty. "I, Reigen Arataka, am the greatest psychic of the 21st century, I don't need to prove anything. I'm not scared."
"Actually, never mind, you probably aren't tall enough to ride," I said, stifling a fit of giggles.
Reigen somehow blushed even more. He really started to lose composure, as he stamped his foot down in anger, and turned to me. His hair was matted down onto his forehead from sweat. "For the last time, we're AT LEAST the same height," he said through gritted teeth.
I grabbed him by the shoulders, and turned him to face me, stepping in closer so that our foreheads meet. It was close, but I was definitely looking down at him slightly. "For the last time, we're really not."
Reigen stared, then turned on his heels and walked away with his fists balled up tightly. "I don't need you!" he shouted, over his shoulder. "I'm going on the roller coaster ride on my own because I'm the GREATEST psychic of the god damn 21st century and I AM taller than you."
I had never seen him so mad. I bent over in a fit of laughter for a moment, before running after him, and tackling him in a big hug. "Come on, babygirl, you're alright. If you actually don't want to, we're out of sight from the others, no one will know."
Reigen refused to make eye contact. "I'm not scared."
"I know," I didn't believe him, but it was his birthday. Best to be nice. "You're my brave boy. But you still don't have to go on the rollercoaster, if you don't want to."
"I'm not a child," he growled, "stop coddling me."
"Aww, but you're my babygirl. You know you like it." I gave him a bunch of kisses on his cheeks, and he sighed.
"Okay, fine," Reigen said, "but we're going on that roller coaster. I'm not scared."
I threw my hands up in mock surrender. "Alright, whatever you say birthday boy."
We approached the roller coaster and waited in line for a while. Reigen really was determined to keep a brave face, but he was definitely sweating more than usual, and became increasingly rambly as we approached the front of the line. When we got on the ride, and people were getting strapped in, his facade finally fell away.
"Ren," his voice was trembling, "Ren, I can't do this. I can't."
Damn you Reigen and your inability to back down from a challenge. "Yes, you can." I squeezed his hand tight. "Your my brave, amazing babygirl and you can do literally anything you set your mind to. It will be over in a moment. I believe in you."
I could feel his hand shaking in mine, but he looked at me and nodded. I gave him a kiss, and the ride took off. He gave out a scream of surprise, and the next time I looked over at him, it looked as if he had passed out, which was concerning to say the least. But I was right, the ride lasted only moments, and when we stopped Reigen turned to me. He looked absolutely stunned, he blinked several times, and just got up off the ride and walked silently through the exit. Mob, Ritsu and Serizawa were waiting for us with big bundles of food and prizes.
"How was it?" Serizawa asked.
Reigen stood there for a moment, went to open his mouth to speak, and then threw up.
 — —— — —— — —— — —— — —
Reigen and I sat down together under a tree after that. Serizawa went and bought us some food, and Reigen slowly regained composure after a while.
We wandered around the fairgrounds a bit, playing games and eating junk food. No more rides. Reigen kept talking about how lovely it was, and talking about how things used to be when he used to come. How lovely it was to come here again, with all of us. Eventually, the sun started to set, and after stocking up on food, we walked Ritsu and Mob home.
"I hope you had a great day, Shishou," Mob said. Reigen ruffled his hair.
"Thanks Mob, I sure did. Thanks for coming, and also thanks to Ritsu."
"It was worth it to see you throw up, Reigen," Ritsu said.
"Glad to hear it," said Reigen, "See you all in the office soon."
We waved goodbye as Reigen, Serizawa and I walked to the nearby park for our picnic dinner. After eating significantly more junk food then we probably should have, we lay down in the grass. The night sky was dark and the stars were fully out.
As we lay there, Reigen reached out and grabbed mine and Serizawa's hands in his own.
"I had an amazing day. I can't remember the last time I even celebrated my birthday, let alone do something this fun. I love you both, so much."
Serizawa and I leant into Reigen, and each gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"I love you both, too," said Serizawa, "you're both… amazing."
I smiled. "You guys, you're so corny. But I love you both as well."
We lay, looking at the stars, holding each other until it got too cold. Then we went home, and Serizawa stayed over, so we all snuggled in bed. Pretty damn good day. Even with the vomiting…

If he was honest with himself, Minghao didn’t fully see the appeal of all of this. What originally was supposed to just be a quiet night in with him turned into his friends pushing to do a little more. He was going to surprise you with dinner and the two of you would spend your birthday night doing whatever you wanted, within reason. When he pitched the plan to his friends, it was... lukewarm, to say the least. Where was the romance? He surprised you with dinner plenty of times before when you thought he was too busy to drop by. He’d surprise you with dinner again in the future, they were sure of it. So he might as well take advantage of it being your birthday to do a little extra. He knew you liked puzzles, things that vexed your brain, so the scavenger hunt had been entirely his idea. Tying things to balloons, however, had not been. But it was easy enough to put together everything on short notice: notes attached to balloons that guided you around your apartment to make you visit different parts of your relationship. The vacation the two of you had taken together to give away that it was him, the printed out poetry to essentially spell out a surprise, another paragraph he’d stolen from a book about a romantic picnic: everything was being spelled out before he finally attached a balloon to that kids movie the two of you watched together at your insistence. The one where the house had all the balloons attached to it, the title appropriately giving you a hint to where he was.
It was a little much, if he was honest. Tying balloons in the stairwell to serve as beacons, and then tying balloons to furniture to serve as further decoration to this lovely little picnic up on your building’s rooftop. But he could imagine the pretty look on your face as you climbed the stairs to see him. The sky was pretty and clear and he was ready to enjoy a nice dinner with you before stargazing for a bit.
He heard the door shut, and turned to greet you. Thankfully, you had changed after work into something cozy--just like he had asked you to in one of those notes. He watched the way your eyes lit up as you took in the entire scene before you, before finally smiling at him.
“You’re so sappy.”
He laughed as you made your way over, wrapping your arms around him. “Did you like it?”
“It’s cute,” you hummed. “I expected something more avant garde, so this is a pleasant surprise.”
“You wouldn’t like that?”
“Normally? I would,” you admitted, rocking on your heels, “but after working all day, this birthday girl just wants to curl up with her cute boyfriend and maybe kiss his equally dashing face.”
“We can take this inside--”
Before he could step away, you squeezed him tight. “No. I like this. Stargazing sounds romantic,” you leaned forward to press a kiss against his jawline, “and I’m with you. That’s all I wanted for my birthday.”
His heart swelled at the thought. All you had wanted was him and there was something so sweet and equally cheesy about hearing it aloud. He smiled, arms wrapped tightly around you as he swayed a little back and forth. With a gentle pat to your shoulder, he mumbled something about the food getting cold as he reluctantly broke away from your warm embrace. He hoped you couldn’t see how flustered he was becoming, hiding his smile as he sat down on the spread-out blanket.
As much as he preferred different romantic gestures... he could see the appeal in them if they made you this happy. Then again, he’d happily make a fool of himself sometimes if it meant brightening your day. Even though he was busy, he cherished the little moments where you’d curl up by his side, savoring his company while you could. You stared up at the sky, lying beside him long after the two of you finished your dinner.
Maybe it was cheesy, but he liked the starstruck look on your face more than the sky overhead.
He called your name softly, just to see those pretty stars in your eyes when you looked at him. “Happy birthday,” he whispered, leaning forward to kiss you one final time before he knew he’d need to start cleaning up. “Thank you for staying with me. I love you.”

For Lily's Birthday:
The cake was great. Apple and ginger with rum in the icing. Lily'd never tasted anything better. There was nothing to complain about.
She'd gotten so many thoughtful presents - nothing she'd had to pretend to be pleased with. A new notebook from Mary, fire and waterproof, perfect for documemting experiments. Self-tying shoelaces from Marlene, with a charm that resisted trip jinxes, and a whole breadbox worth of sweets. Vials of crystalised pine resin and cold frosted cobwebs from Sev, ready to be brewed with.
The little party in Gryffindor tower was everything she could've asked for, good music, charades and boardgames. None of the boys were annoying about it.
People had been wishing her a happy birthday all day - Slughorn had even given her a gift. She hadn't seen Mulciber once.
Everything was perfect.
Completely perfect.
Nothing bad had happened at all. Nice presents. The cake was great. Someone must have bent some rules to get rum into the recipe, the alchohol wasn't cooked off at all. That's a lot of effort someone put in for her.
And Sev must gave collected those ingredients himself.
So many people care. Lily told herself firmly. This has been a great day. And so many people went out of their way to make it great for me.
She stubbornly set her face into a smile as Marlene tried to act out the whimsical title of some old wizard's autobiography.
She wasn't going to let it ruin her day. It was stupid. It was nothing. And everything was great.
It was probably just a coincidence anyway, and Lily was just reading into it. Maybe their mum had sent it late, and Tuney had been at school - or maybe she'd broken her hand!
Maybe she was in hospital right now in a coma or something and their parents hadn't said because they didn't want to worry her, and Lily was the one being a dick by getting in a mood about it.
It was nothing. Nothing to get upset about on such a nice day. And even if it was then there was a good explanation for it.
How hard would it have been for her to just write her own name in the card? Lily thought sullenly.
No, no.
I don't know that it was deliberate.
But their dad had signed it himself, so it wasn't like their mum had written the whole thing. She must have asked Tuney, right?
Her sister's name was written in her birthday card in their mum's handwriting because she refused to do it herself.
Lily unclenched her jaw, then clenched it again.
I'm not going to let her ruin my day.
She was just being petty. And Lily wasn't going to let her win - that was not acceptable - she was going to enjoy herself no matter what.
Mary giggled as Marlene gestured about incomprehensibly.
Lily forced another smile, pretended to nudge Mary like they were sharing the joke together.
I'm winning.
I'm winning. Fuck you.

masterlist - intro - my ao3
Tumblr media
May laughed sweetly, the corner lips curving into a soft smile as she looked back at the captivating woman who sat before her. The captivating woman who she was proud to call hers. It was her angel’s birthday and May decided she would treat her lover as a princess for a day. In the morning she fastened a new pearl necklace around her neck and showered her in kisses, May’s signature nude lipstick staining her cheeks and in the afternoon she took her to one of the finest clubs in London and they enjoyed a sweet conversation as jazz music played softly in the background which she did pay close attention to as she was lost in the symphony of colours that lay in May’s irises, enthralled. Even though Y/N had been bestowed with such ritzy things it was the simple gestures her love showed her that truly made her swoon. Whether it was an unsuspected hug from behind or the warm tingle of her lips pressed against her neck or the feeling of May’s soft palms as she slipped the new dress she bought for her off her body. It was all perfect to her. May held her closed as they laid bare under the covers together, enjoying each other's embrace. Y/N was stirred from her dazed bliss as she pressed a kiss to the crown of her head.
“Happy birthday my darling.”
