Come Ashore for Rack and Ruin

Summary: In the midst of the Battle of the Somme, an ancient horror has decided to show its ugly face on the battlefield and Matthew is somewhere out in the fog. Alistair goes to find his nephew.

Late Summer of 1916, North-Central Somme, France

It felt like it didn’t even have to rain for the thick wool of Alistair’s kilt to be absolutely soaked and weigh an extra ton against his reddened, numbed thighs. The mud did a good enough job as well as the rain from days long gone still lingering deeply in the fibers.

It was a rare, silent evening and those were the ones that put Alistair on edge the most. Silent, apart from the moans of the plethora of wounded men, many of whom, Alistair would say have copped a blighty and should be on their way home. Gunfire had been shot earlier that day and the entirety of his Majesty’s empire of scattered corpses stretched across no man’s land and a thick fog was the only grave they were getting for the time being. He peered over the top of the trench, but it was as black as the Earl of Hell’s waistcoat. No one was certain what the Germans had in mind yet but men needed to be retrieved if any survivors had a chance at being saved. 

Matthew was out there somewhere.

The lad was lucky that he hadn’t been found by Gilbert or his brat of a brother.

Alistair wasn’t entirely sure if that was the case though and his stomach lurched at the thought. Earlier in the evening, he had gotten into a shouting match with his youngest brother. ‘ Matthew’s a grown man and will make his way back if he knows what’s good for him and the Empire . I know him, he wouldn’t allow himself capture. ’ He knew he couldn’t rest until he was certain the boy was brought back to the safety of their hellhole of a home, whether that meant dragging his corpse back or knowing for sure he had to come up with a plan to rescue him from the enemy. The latter would mean having to get Arthur furtherly involved which he wanted to avoid at all costs.

He was going to scout it out alone.

Securing his helmet on his matted red curls and kit firmly to his side, he climbed out of the ditch, his belly and out of regulation beard down in the detritus and rubble. 

Matthew was always hard to find in these situations.

Time and time again, Alistair had memorized how to find his kin. He knew the scent of death they all emitted, what their face-down forms looked like in the dark, and the sounds they made as life rushed suddenly back into their flesh and bone.

His brother’s children though? 

Even though he’d spent the most time with the young Canadian, he had only witnessed his death perhaps once or twice before and he couldn’t recall any useful details of how to go about locating his corpse. 

Arthur smelt of the sea and rain-soaked woodland.

Dylan, a hedgerow in spring and driftwood.

Morgan of seaside morning dew and buttery furze.

Himself, blooming heather and an ocean storm.

Matthew smelt like... he wanted to say evergreen pine. He wanted to say he smelt like winter. But he knew that couldn’t be right. There was a lack of smell in the cold, on those freezing, white mornings before he went hunting or hiking; his eyes felt keener, ears on edge for the slightest of sounds. 

The air felt heavy as he shifted through the scattered remains, feeling uneasy with every step until he eventually had to stop to get back into sorts.

Something was amiss in the deepest parts of the fog.

He spotted a shape in the dark and his grip tightened on the butt of his rifle. He would say the thing was at least fifty meters away if he wagered a guess. Squinting, he vaguely made out something large, something that appeared to be scraping in the mud. Just staring at it made him feel uneasy, and made him want to vomit up his sorry excuse for tea. 

He risked firing a flare into the sky, praying the rest of the world was asleep for just these few moments. He had to know what he was dealing with; what he had to fight if it meant bringing his nephew to safety.

A dim red light briefly lit up the night.

His breath stuck in his throat.

It took every muscle fiber to keep his arm raised, to not drop the flaregun and bolt the other direction.

Arthur Home Headcanons

Minimalism? What’s that? This man has stuff everywhere in his home. Cluttercore

He is entirely guilty of reusing containers that don’t match what’s inside. Have you see English tea tins? He has a cabinet dedicated to them but it’s anyone’s guess as to what’s actually inside. He has a separate cabinet that has actual tea and the works. This tin was the limited edition Christmas English breakfast from 1962, of course I can’t get rid of it. That was a gift from Matthew in 2003, he’d be devastated if I tossed it in the bin. He may not even remember the reason for one but thinks if he holds onto it, it’ll eventually come to him.

I’m not even touching his collection of teacups and mugs.

His house is in good, clean condition. I want to make that clear. He just has trouble when it comes to change. If something breaks, it may stay that way for a while because the manufacturer who made it isn’t around anymore. Arthur will attempt to fix it himself but he’s no expert. He’s ruined things in his attempts so he’ll leave them to gather dust. He’s had a bread cutter from before World War II that’s rusted and the cutting board desperately needs a cleaning but he hasn’t gotten around to it.

If he absolutely must swallow his pride, he’ll ask Alistair to fix something he’s particularly found of.

His home in London isn’t his original one from a few hundred years back. The townhouse that was a relic of the Victorian/ Georgian era was all blown the rubble in the Blitz. He’s moved to East London to try to stay a little in the time capsule that’s formed there.

Really losing his home in the war was something that took years to get past but really, he hasn’t. He had saved what he could but the armchair from 1754 that he’d replaced the cushions of numerous times, the entirety of the library, and things one man alone just couldn’t pull from the flames were all silently mourned for.

The newer residence is honestly far less of a death trap and perhaps losing the old one was a blessing in disguise.

Still very much has the “nice” living room for guests and more formal affairs and the much more lived in one where the clutter really has gotten out of hand. Aside from his study that is.

His main residence is that townhome in Spitalfields.

He hates purging. He’ll constantly say he’s in the process of it whenever company is over to excuse any clutter or mess. Sorting through books, seeing if any the shops or museum will take. Going through clothes again that fill the closet even though he rotates the same handful of things.

Has the same spoon he’s been stirring his tea with for over seventy years. The bottom is completely flat. He’s been gifted a new one but he hasn’t taken it out of the drawer quite yet.

Similarly, he was gifted an electric kettle one year but in a drunken state on pure muscle memory, he put it on the stovetop. He’s been gifted a new one and is much more mindful on where he keeps it.

Please stop giving this man new things for his kitchen.

You want to talk museum, you go to his centuries old countryside manor. The land was gifted to him in the 14th century during the Hundred Years War in Suffolk. Perfectly isolated. He’s owned homes and land before, mind you, but this was his first private manor that he’s built upon and had full control over.

The clutter did get out of control during his early archaeology days and he’s been very carefully going through things so they go to the proper place. He has returned things and is trying to make amends.

Some rooms, not all, have those ugly, Victorian wallpaper ceilings.

It’s a hodgepodge of just, so many different eras.

You never know what you’re going to find when you open just about anything. Books? He uses just about whatever was near him at the time as a bookmark. Drawer? Funeral lockets from his children and lovers. Some things haven’t been touched in ages and look like they’ll fall apart if you do so much as breath on them.

There are a lot of rooms here and each one of them of themed to his design. The rooms his children lived in still very much reflect that they were once a part of his home.

Used to throw very elaborate parties here as well as a funeral or five.

Please be careful because this house is not child friendly. All of his weapons and armor are proudly on display in the halls.

There’s little projects scattered around the house that you’ll find pieces of.

This is the house that has the majority of his more precious items. Between the first Great Fire of London and the Blitz, he moved whatever he could fit in that home.

His third home I’ll mention is a smaller cottage in the North Midlands. It’s simple, really meant for one or two people at the most. This is his get away from it all. 

Stunning garden and his absolute pride and joy. The fae watch over this one since he’s unable to tend to it most of the year. They get to reside in the home and take care of it even when he’s present.

Least modernized than a majority of his homes. Still has electricity and running water but no television for example.

The Victorian era really defined what his home would be like going forward. Of course, things were deadly so in his newer versions of the home, the authentic arsenic soaked wallpaper has been replaced with replicas.

Throughout Victorian England, mourning jewelry was used as a tribute or memento to remind the wearer about their love for the person they had lost. Hair was very commonly used in these pieces as it did not decay and represented a love everlasting.

Though Arthur knew his sons would return from death, there was still deep grief and sadness in times they were lost.

Featured here are two funeral lockets in his possession.

The first is inscribed, ‘My dear son’s spirit hath fled the 17th of September 1862. Alfred Fortenay Jones.’

The lock of hair was acquired shortly after the Battle of Antietam in the American Civil War. Though the pair was not on speaking terms at this time, Arthur would still quietly mourn times he knew his eldest son had met with Death. He asked his second son, Matthew, that upon checking his brother, should he have perished in battle, to please bring home a lock of hair with him. Arthur wished for a keepsake of his son, to hold onto a hope he wouldn’t speak aloud for his son to live. But in case the war were to end in disaster, he would have something of Alfred’s he could hold onto if he were to return to the Earth.

The second reads, ‘My dear son fell asleep the 27th of April 1842. Matthew Marc Jean-Luc Williams.’

Disease is never an easy way to die. Arthur held Matthew’s hand as he succumbed to consumption, the first time the young man had a disease take him. Arthur would swear that his son never quite looked the same after this took place. His eyes always tired and sunken, skin pale, and just a little too thin. Perhaps he always looked this way and it wasn’t until after this wasting disease did he notice. He had almost lost his son a handful of times in the past to other illnesses but each time he would recover. Not even Arthur himself could escape this dreadfully romantic plague. How quiet Matthew was when he died, quieter still upon awakening. Arthur knew he would return, despite all the turmoil in Quebec some years ago- he had to believe his son would live to see another day.

Pls tell me more about your universe where nations are public and are public meanaces to society. I think it would be super funny,

I haven't really incorporated the idea in any fics or anything, but realistically speaking, nations have got to be known in the public eye. I know when I first started writing for the fandom, I read one fic where nations were considered top secret so I sort of followed in suit for the longest time. Now, the idea of them being very well known and figure heads is hilarious. It also makes more sense canon wise (but like who cares about following canon).

If no one else is going to say it then I will. You are one of the funniest Hetalia blogs on this website. Maybe even fandom blogs period (and I follow a lot of them). Your humor is just so…idk…I feel like you are one of those people who has something to say about everything. I want to talk to you IRL. The smash or pass thing you made with Hetalia characters was absolute gold from start to finish. The sound effects, music and everything you said about all the characters. You had me ugly laughing. It’s like an art for where you managed to make something that should have been completely cringy just unserious and lighthearted as possible. You passed on my bae Prussia and I can’t even be mad about because what you said was so funny. I even showed it to my friends who don’t even like hetalia much and they still thought it was hilarious. The tags you leave on things, posts you make, not even just about what you say about hetalia either. Just your stories from real life. Maybe it’s just how you word things Idk. The way you type i can hear someone saying it if that makes since I don’t feel like you embellish I feel like you actually talk like that. I feel like things you make here go under appreciated even if you are one of the main big blogs here and you have been for years.

I have this blog because I really like hetalia and I just make content that I want to see. It is just an added bounds so many of you enjoy it! Really asks like this are worth 10,000 notes to me.

I am glad a few of you have reached out personally to tell me how much you liked the smash or pass I made. I had a lot of fun making it to so it’s always a plus when you guys like something that I liked making. I’m glad you and your friends were amused by me 🤣 someone has to be!

As for a ‘script’ of the video it doesn’t really exist. I didn’t write any jokes or stuff down it was just off the top of my head in the moment I was doing lines. I just stared at pictures of the character and spoke from the heart. I don’t feel like it would have been near as well received if I actually wrote a script. I didn’t even plan on doing the Romano thirst trap at the end it just sort of happened. There was a general outline of things I knew I wanted to do as far as photoshop wise and characters I was going to cover. I got pretty severe unmedicated ADHD so if I don’t finish something when I start it it’ll just never get done. So I’m not really one for planning things I make too much because if I do I’ll get bored or side tracked and forget it exists.

If you guys wanted to make a version of the video yourself and don’t really have any idea how to do something like that you can get a hold of me and I will gladly give over the templates of the characters stills. Or if a lot of people ask I’ll just make a master post for everyone to use

🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?

Ooohhhh, there are many ways to get the feels, anon. So many ways.

I think my favorite type of character interaction are when two characters are complete foils of each other, and yet complete each other at the same time.

I also love that trope where one character is more successful than the other, so the less successful one does something that irrevocably impairs the more successful one forever. (Read: A Separate Peace by John Knowles and And The Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini). For some odd reason, the less successful characters here push the more successful ones off a tree branch, thus rendering them Immobile. The resulting guilt, self loathing, resentment... it's so bittersweet because this is what you wanted, right? But they have to face their supposed rival every single day. And their supposed rival? There's always a sense that they know about the transgression against them, yet they never say anything about it. The tension is so delicious and I love it.

I don't know what the above says about me, but hey. Hahaha.

💔 Is there a fic of yours that broke your heart?

I mentioned this in a previous ask, but pretty much every bit of a "Series of Abnormalities" was heartbreaking. To reiterate, I put all three of the main characters through a lot of angst and trauma.

👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!

Oooooohhhhhhhhhh!

Okay, I have to main wips that are not going to be posted on this blog, but on my ao3.

One of them is a sequel to my previous Creepypasta OC fic named "until the rain stops". If you're not familiar, it basically tells the story of my oc, Ellie Robles and how she deals with the aftermath of the death of her friend Lyra and subsequent disappearance of Toby, the Rogers kids. She's dropped back in Colorado after a brief stay in the Philippines and unwittingly finds herself going down the deep rabbit hole of proxies, the Operator, supernatural phenomena, and how to best comfort her former tutor, Connie Rogers.

The sequel isn't actually a sequel? It's more of a companion piece wherein Connie Rogers starts piecing together what happened to her favorite three children of all time: Lyra, Toby, and Ellie. Along the way, I'll sprinkle in some actual events that occurred in my original fic.

So yeah, if you're interested in a poc oc in a Creepypasta fic where the focus isn't on romance but on a coming age of story, the gradual progression of friendship to something more, a demiseuxal character, and a somewhat realistic portrayal of a toxic family environment and mental illness... Then this may be for you!

Also, Marble Hornets is also in there, heheeh.

The second wip is for The Batman (2022). I'm a sucker for isekai stories, but I've always found a dearth in stories where the isekaied characters have no idea what fandom/universe they're now occupying. I think it would be interesting.

I won't say much since I'm still working out the cogs and pieces, but I will be pushing my boundaries.

Like, I'm going to try my hand at smut, omegaverse elements (yes, I know, but bear with me), and a character coming to terms with the fact that their body... isn't their body anymore.

You'll see why.

⌛ How long does it take you to write a fic, or a chapter?

Hmmm... It depends on a lot of things: motivation, wellness, irl priorities...

But if it's a simple request like a brief character interaction or a character matchup, it'll take less than a day. If I'm properly motivated, it'll take at most three hours, one and a half at the very least.

If it's a major project like my above mentioned wips, it'll take months because I like to write at least 90% of a multichap story first before posting. For "until the rain stops", it took at least a year of pre-writing and another year of posting.

time for a history lesson kids

Iso anyway after 9 years of waiting (oh god) my dreams came true and hetalia finally has my country featured. And my first instinct is to draw a precolonial Philippines and then headcanon the shit out of it based on all my readings

i knew an Anthropology degree was gonna be useful someday

so anyway head canon history lesson time. gather round kids. I took this college program for a reason:

I feel like the recent Philippines would be born post 1565 after Miguel Lopez de Lagzpi. That boy must be a considered Mestizo ( mixed-race individuals, who were born from intermarriages of the Spaniards and merchants with the indigenous Filipino (Austronesian/Malay/Malayo-Polynesian) natives)

But let’s assume he is an Indio (who somehow lost all his tattoos?? oh well) then there’s an angsty and slightly badass headcanon that he actually killed absorbed all the other representatives from other tribes. they don’t die easily (unless harmed by economic struggles/or i guess hurt by fellow representatives) so it kinda explains the whole Bayani concept of undefeatable heroes. (we love our epics about heroes don’t we?)

That said! (our precolonial ancestors’ history is pretty badass tbh and very brutal. i wouldn’t put it past him to actually have killed all the other reps. We literally have a headhunting sport haha) let’s get on to the cultural aspects shall we?

I based most of this from the Boxer Codex’s illustrations which probably is centered around Visayas and Manila settlements for obvious reasons that they were found first. (they deteriorated first too :’) but since I’m from Visayas, the info i can give you are better off being in Visayas (also he has a tarsier lmao. mostly found in bohol. i hc him to be in Visayas. I’m sorry)

the obvious parts here are the tattoos which if you think looks kinda like the one in Moana, you’re right. it is (somewhat) we may also have descended from the same Austronesian ethnicity from Taiwan or China (most SEA countries did actually. there are many conflicting theories for this and most of you guys learned the Otley-Beyer’s wave migration theory WHICH IS WRONG PLEASE FORGET ABOUT THAT SHIT. IT’S VERY RACIST. something about calling negritos inferior because of the technology sits very wrong. throw that multi linear cultural evolution thoughts away and say fuck you to Morgan and Lewis and also say fuck you to DepEd for not changing it. anyway

the point is virgin Otley Beyer, chad Peter Bellwood. Listen to Austronesian Wave Migration theory (you’d find this evident in the way southeast asians to melanasia and pacific islanders share linguistic similarities. i can’t find that teletubbies salamat meme

but let’s talk about pre-col culture because I’m rambling now. everyone probably knows that tattoos are a symbol of social roles from your HEKASI lessons. they are the Pintados. It’s a sacred tradition where you earn them at every achievement. you start at your legs and trail up to your face. the ones on the chest that look like breastplates are awarded after you win a head from the head hunting (which yeah they think of the head as a holy place too so they eat it, thinking they’ll consume its holiness) the face tattoos are for the greatest warriors (and seeing he’s an immortal country, he would have face tattoos) different tribes have different patterns, but you usually either see snake patterns or sea patterns (thus the zigzag)

fun fact: cebuanos were very ruthless pirates haha. we are voyagers my dude. we devised long ranged boats way before sailing was a major thing. much like in moana. you can see traces of it in the traditional fishing boats with those braces on the side to keep balance. it’s cool. point is, water is a very large way of life. (i think you also earn a tattoo from sailing but I’m not sure)

the deep red dye is an honor given only to the bravest warriors. the longer your putong or headdress is,the braver you are. we also used gold like it was nothing. (magellan had to stop his crew from trading their stuff into gold haha) we used it everyday and even placed them in our teeth. (YES WE HAD DENTISTRY BACK THEN) our art and aesthetics believe in the pride of our bodies thus we decorate it, believing we are past primitive thoughts by modifying the human body. so we didn’t care about property, we cared about our appearance. we are also culturally expected to strut our new tattos and piercings with pride. speaking of piercings men and women were expected to pierce their ears and wear large ass earrings.

the precolonial cebuano is a showman (and we still are). you show off these accessories with finesse. you need to live the art. walk and make those golden bracelets jingle. so if you feel like being dramatic, that’s the spirit of your ancestors encouraging you to be dramatic hahaha

(funny enough the ye olden people thought the spanish were poor and backward for not ornamenting their bodies.only a monkey would have white teeth like that and undecorated skin! yeah love how we chismis like that way back then too)

one last side note. we wore cock rings/piercings too as status symbols okay bye

anyway I have more to talk about pre-col phippines. we haven’t touched gender roles (pre-col philippines would also be very chill about gayness and transwomen are even venerated into priestess positions. it’s all cool so pre-col philippines is definitely not cis haha and probably chill about not being straight yay indophil)

13. Favorite sibling relationship in the series?

That is kind of tough. A lot of the sibling relationships are so adorable. My favorite would have to be the German bros. Like, Prussia is such a sweet big brother and I love it (mind you, part of that view comes from strips with HRE, but I don’t see his demeanor changing that much with Germany ((especially considering my view on the connection between HRE and Germany which will be explained also in this post)). Also, although they are not blood-related, I tend to view England and America’s relationship as brothers (but that’s just my own opinion and headcanon). Like, with the strips with little America, we get to see a more softer side to England and I just find it so sweet. In a more present time, they like to bug each other a lot much like how my brother and I like to pester each other. I find their dynamic so fun and interesting. 

(Note: this is not to ship bash US*UK. I don’t personally ship it (though there are a lot of good fanworks of them), but I’m not about to say you shouldn’t ship it. Ship whatever you want as long as you aren’t hurting anyone and if it bugs me too much, I just don’t interact). 

14. Favourite friendship in the series?

Oooh another hard one. I really dig Germany and Italy’s friendship. Sure there is some tension because they are so opposite, but they really do care about each other. Since they’re opposite, they compliment each other well and can support each other in weaknesses. For example, I love writing Italy as Germany’s wing man in many fics since he is a nation of love and is very knowledgeable in communication in general as opposed to the stoic and awkward Germany. Germany helps keep Italy active and encourages good work ethic. 

I also love whatever France and England have going on. Like, yes I ship FrUK pretty hard, but I also dig them as a brotp. They say they hate each other, constantly are insulting each other, getting into physical fights with each other, but when one needs it most the other is there. For example, when they thought the world was ending when they were children, they got together and decided to spend their last moments together. Then there was the fact that France stayed at England’s house during WW2. Lastly, in the most recent episode, England seemed somewhat concerned (in his own England way) when France came over beaten up and injured. Basically it's like:

France and England: *insulting each other back in forth*

Someone: *insults France*

England: Now listen here buddy...

(and vice versa)

Its just...they’ve known each other for so long and they have always been in each other’s lives. I like to think England, despite enjoying being alone from time to time (on his own accord) is lonely as everyone he cares about seems to leave. But France has always been there even if they fought and thought they hated each other. France, though less lonely, still finds himself coming back to England especially in times he is in need of support.

16. Can nations travel fast or teleport?

I have no real stance on this issue, but considering there has been times where they travel to different countries while running, something is going on there. Then again, barely any thought was probably put into it and it was more of just to not waste time and have some funny interactions. If I had to choose, I’d probably say fast travel.

3. Is Germany HRE?

Okay…I use to really, really believe in this theory wholeheartedly. Actually, when I started watching the series and saw the Chibitalia segments, I actually mistook HRE for a child Germany, which made me really believe in this theory. Now a days I still kind of do, but in a different way. So, at first I thought Germany and HRE were the same person inside and out, but now that’s shifted slightly. Like I still think that Germany was born into HRE’s body (since when we see his formation he appears older than most nation when they first appeared and also because they look practically identical), but since Germany is a different nation, he is has his own…soul?… for lack of a better word, making him his own person. Anyway, they are definitely connected in some way.  

4. Piece of canon you disregard?

The first that comes to mind is France’s old characterization. That was kind of yikes. I’m happy Hima learned and changed his character to be less offensive.

5. Piece of canon you embrace?

Hmm…there is a lot, but I think one I like the most is just how soft England can be with children as shown with his relationship with America. That or the fact France lived with him during WW2 (despite not liking to think about that time in terms of Hetalia). OOOOH NO I HAVE IT!!! All of Lithuania’s Outsourcing. They are just so domestic and cute and I love it. Favorite moment from that segment is when America asks to sleep with Lithuania because a movie scared him and just…they’re conversation in bed about their pasts and America promising to support Lithuania. Its why AmeLiet is one of my favorite ships.

Mirio Togata as America

I first put Denki as America but then I saw a post and now I can’t stop thinking about BTT SeroKiriKami so yeah-

Mirio and America have more things in common other than being blond, blue-eyed precious beans that need to be protected

First of- s t r o n g. They’re both canonically some of the strongest characters in their respective series despite their relatively young ages (Mirio being above some pro-hero levels despite still being in high school and America being well America lmao)

Additionally, they both have drive; they have a determination to become as strong as they possibly could, and stop at nothing to get there

Also, they love helping people! Mirio wants to save a million smiles, and America is a self-proclaimed hero (who admittedly isn’t the best but he’s trying okay)

Both of them kinda also have a hidden intelligence? Like, as in one would never think of them to be highly intelligent people because they’re so goofy and energetic

Since it’s implied that both Tamaki and Mirio game in their free time, him and America are also avid gamers (imagine them playing smash together lmao I feel like they’d break all the controllers)

Both v v competitive too (not as much as the next duo tho)- they’ll never back down from a challenge and face it head on with all their might!

Also, they’re basically the blond boy of the month but it’s every month lmao

In conclusion, they’re sunshines who deserve the world and more

Katsuki Bakugo as England

Okay fr hear me the fuck out-

I know it’s an unlikely pair

But they have their similarities just bear with me here

Yes, I was initially going to put in Romano for Bakugo (anger issues gang)

But then the more I thought about it, the more I realized that unlike Romano, he wouldn’t back away from a challenge or run at the slightest scare- Bakugo would take that shit and smother it into the ground

And while England may sometimes be portrayed as a prude gentleman type, we can’t forget his history- this man is probably one of, if not the most, ballsy countries to exist (at least back in his prime)

England is smart, calculated and cunning- how could you not be when you’ve conquered nearly the whole damn world?

He’s proud and maybe a bit too egotistical, and while lacking the anger issues and probably dead vocal cords of Bakugo, he sure as hell matches him in the pride and power aspect

Bakugo, on the other hand, is literally top of his class; boy is a nerd and has a perfect record

So he’s by no means any less smart than England, maybe a little more reckless, but he’s 16- you can’t exactly compare his mindset to a country’s

Even so he does act quickly on the battlefield, much like England assessed situations very precariously (most of the time)

Both of them would probably look an opponent dead in the eye and tell them to do it, bet you won’t pussy ass

On a lighter note tho, they’re two blond, spiky-haired tsunderes who are way to proud and smart for their own good

They also both listen to rock/punk so there’s that too

Aoyama Yuuga as France

I know I just said SeroKamiKiri is the BTT but once again hear me out

I couldn’t not put Aoyama in as France

It’s literally a match made in Heaven guys cmon

They’re both sparkling, flamboyant and fabulous blondies

Although sometimes their attitude can be interpreted as holier-than-thou, really they just know that they’re amazing and don’t care what people think (we stan confident kings 😤)

They also know that they deserve the best luxuries in life, and definitely won’t settle for anything else

In terms of courage, they’re pretty much on the same level; they get scared easily and will more than likely either back out of the challenge or give up the moment they feel tired

The difference is, France will never regain whatever bravery he had before the French Revolution, but Aoyama is slowly building his courage up in his journey to become a hero

They also take things in stride, willingly or unwillingly (whether it be an ugly outfit or a defeat, they won’t be a sore loser lmao)

While not necessarily flirty like France, Aoyama can still charm people with his whims. Also, their relationship towards people that they can’t charm kind of mirrors one another? (Might be reaching here lmao)

I do think though sometimes that Aoyama shows some similarities with Poland/2P!Romano, but he has the most similarities with France so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Toga Himiko as Russia

You may say she’s more like Belarus but nay nay I say

Belarus is the more kind of ‘stoic’ cruel in my mind; she doesn’t show much emotion besides annoyance and getting angry

Russia however

He’s ‘childishly’ cruel- looks innocent but is capable of some horrible, monstrous things.

Even though his face says otherwise, he does take some glee in torturing harming others (like, a lot)

Toga also does this, but in a much more obvious way lmao. She’s a villain, who drinks blood, there’s no doubt she hasn’t killed anyone. She also takes a lot more pleasure from hurting people than Russia does

They not that close with people, but the ones they are close to they are immensely protective of (Toga and the LOV, Russia and his sisters)

They also are capable of being highly intelligent, knowing more than what people think they know (Toga helping Twice our, and I high key headcanon Russia as a manipulative and cunning bastard who’s done many horrible things to people to get his way)

I think this goes without saying but they’re really really violent

Russia just likes using his magic metal pipe of pain, and Toga likes her knives

They also have some really shitty pasts that have lead them to be who they are today

They may look cute on the outside, but they are oh so very cruel on the inside

Shota Aizawa as China

Haha, old man syndrome-

These two have more in common than you’d think

First off, they have that wisdom that comes with age, and are trying to get the younger ones to learn it (Aizawa does this better lmao)

I can totally see them complaining about ‘kids these days’ even tho they’ve done the same shit back then-

Along with wisdom comes cunning and craft. I headcanon China as a low key genius, so he’s probably on par with Aizawa, if not better (in terms of battle strategy and such)

Even though they come off as strict, all they really want is the best for their students/siblings

They’re both physically strong (China was probably once hella jacked, and Aizawa speaks for himself)

They do tire out quite easily tho so there’s that

Both have a penchant for cute animals like cats (Hello Kitty’s a cat don’t @ me)

On a darker note, they’ve both suffered losses of close friends. While China has definitely lost a lot more, Shirakumo’s ‘death’ still took a huge toll on him. Likewise, China has lost all his ancient friends over the years, making him the last one left (except turkey and Mongolia they don’t matter rn)

Tenya Iida as Germany

You cannot tell me this isn’t also a match made in heaven

They’re literally, at their very core, almost the exact same person

Iida is a stickler for rules- he follows every single one of them. Any and every. Pretty organized too, if I do say so myself

Likewise, Germany is also very strict with rules and regimens. He’s also canonically OCD so mans cannot stand messes (people or things)

It may make them seem like pains in the neck but really it’s the only way they know how to interact

Also have some angsty connections with their brothers

Although not as easily provoked as Germany, Iida can still be just as terrifying (mans tried to kill Stain I mean come on-)

As with nearly all of these characters, they’re both strong as hecc

Also, I feel like both of them are somewhat pressured by what their other family members have accomplished and want to achieve the same thing (Iida coming from a family of superheroes, and Germany really looking up to his father and brother and wanting to be like them but less yknow)

They don’t really know how to communicate well?? Like, of course they can talk and hold conversation but they have difficulty with most social interactions (it’s adorable)

More often than not the louder voice of reason within their friend group (Everyone in the Dekusquad besides Deku himself is the voice of reason lmao, and Germany is a no-nonsense kind of guy)

Smart bois (In Gakuen Hetalia, Germany is said to be one of the smartest students and tutors Italy, and Iida tries his best)

All in all very awkward and loud losers beans that need to learn how to not be so stiff lmao

Shoto Todoroki as Japan

Y’all already know I had to pair the introverts together

Calm, collected and reserved- these two mind their own business like it’s a sports championship lmao

Even though they may come off as intimidating sometimes, in reality they’re just shy and don’t really know the basics of social interaction (more than Germany and Iida lmao)

They’re both fairly strong, too (Todoroki with his icy hot quirk makes him one of the most OP characters in MHA imo, and Japan definitely doesn’t carry around a katana just for show)

Very very convoluted and not so great childhood (Think the sengoku period was Japan’s childhood so he was basically torn up as a kid while Todoroki had to deal with Endebitch)

Also both pretty smart??? Like, high key they’re both very intelligent and skilled

Both their friends are slowly helping them get out of that super duper introverted mindset, but the poor bbs are still trying to learn how to be a lot less stiffe

They’re also really into architecture esp traditional Japanese architecture (canon in both)

I honestly think they’d get along pretty well if they met, tbh

(Japan would get him into anime and manga and the bookworm in Todoroki can’t resist)

The strange circumstance of Italy

Honestly, I could not find anyone in MHA that was remotely similar to Italy

I was very close to putting in Mina or Nejire, since those two come to mind whenever I think of bright and bubbly (Maybe Kirishima too, but it just doesn’t fit)

So while those two are pretty much the most fitting I feel, they don’t completely encompass his character enough yonow?

Like, I genuinely cannot find anyone who is similar enough to compare him to

So for now, until I can find a suitable pick, Italy won’t have a MHA character to be paired up with 😔 sorry guys

Story under cut

          It was ___’s first day of high school who had just moved into town. The only people she knew were the neighbors, but they were confusing twins named, Alfred and Matthew. They looked alike but were very opposite and Alfred was very noisy, so she liked Matthew better.  

         She was struggling to balance all the books and papers in her hands while trying to read the map of the school to find her first class. ___ didn't really show much emotion to anyone unless she knew them. A blank stare rested across her features as she studied the papers although she was a nervous mess on the inside. She was bumped harshly by someone, knocking her books and papers to the floor and landing her on her butt.  

         "Watch where you're going, newbie!" A football player in his uniform, she assumed to be a senior, since he called her newbie. Then he saw her face and turned on his heel to talk to her. "You know I can forgive you though if give me a kiss." He was honestly trying to flirt with a girl he just knocked onto the floor.  

         She adjusted herself into a sitting position then stared blankly at him.  

         "No, thanks. I do not care if you forgive me or not. I can manage on my own." Her voice was level and her stare chilled him a bit since he didn't reply right away.  

         "I like a girl who speaks her mind." This guy was not going to give up and it was starting to annoy her.  

         "How about you shut up and leave me alone so I can figure out this school's layout?"  

         "How about you let me show you around?"  

         "How about no, dude?" This was a new voice; it was Alfred with a shy Matthew behind him.  

         "Oh, hey there Al, I was trying to be nice to this newbie and she's being totally stuck up."  

         "She's my neighbor so just leave her alone, dude." Al clapped the guy on the back and continued talking with him as Matthew knelt down to help her pick her things.  

         "I saw what was happening, so I got Al’s attention and brought him over. Knowing my brother could get him to stop better than I could." Matthew said in his quiet voice.  

         "How did you figure that out?"  

         "Alfred is the quarterback and the entire football team looks up to him. So, most of them listen to everything he says."  

         "I am glad I know you guys then. I won't have to worry about too many seniors bugging me."  

         "I'm glad I know you too, ____. You're one of the few people who notice me."  

         "Then I can sit with you at lunch?" ___ raised an eyebrow slightly.  

         "Sure thing. Here let me help you get to your first class." He grabbed her schedule off the floor and looked at the first class. "You were almost there." He pointed to the door a few lockers away.  

         "I was looking for my locker so I could dump most of this stuff off."  

         "Let's see." Matthew was scanning the paper and Alfred patted his back.  

         "Just tell me if she needs any more help. I promised mom I'd watch after both of you. I'm heading off to class."  

         Matthew nodded knowing his brother had already left. Then he stood up with half of your stuff and helped you up. "Your locker should just be this way. You also might be able to meet your locker partner."  

         "I didn't even know I would have one."  

         "Some people do, and some people don't. I think on the first day they should show you where your locker is before giving you all of your books. Since you’re coming in the middle of the year, it’s not like a teacher is going to help you with all the freshmen." ___ nodded in agreement, Matt let a small silence fall between them as they walked towards her locker.  

Matthew stopped in front of her locker, opening it for her, then helping her put things into the bottom cubby. ___ was a few inches shorter than the average height, so she figured she'd be shorter than her locker mate.  

         "I believe that is my locker." A monotone voice claimed by a brown shaggy-haired boy.  

         "___ is new, so she’s your new locker mate." The Canadian stepped out of the way so the boy could see you better. "Say hello ____ this is," he paused and looked into the locker and saw the boy’s name at the top "Leon?" He said questioningly. Leon nodded then quickly moved his oversized sleeve to cover the bottom half of his face. "Oh hey, I bet you both have biology together with Mr. Kirkland.” Leon nodded at his statement, confirming it then warning the bell rang. "___, can you follow Leon to the first period?" She nodded. "Okay well, I will see you at lunch if you get lost just call me." With that, he walked towards what she assumed was his class.  

         "Hi, I am ____." Leon didn't reply so you just continued. "Okay then, lead the way."  

         ___ followed Leon, towards the class door Matt pointed out earlier. It sort of bugged her he wouldn’t talk to her even when she tried to directly talk to him. The only reason it was bugging her a bit, is that she thought he was cute. He was about four inches taller than ___, shaggy hair, light brown eyes and he was wearing a huge burgundy duangua with black trim.  

         ___ dismissed all those thoughts once she entered the classroom. Leon went to sit down as she handed a paper to Mr. Kirkland, who greeted her then told her to sit next to Leon.  

         Leon was already sitting down with his arms folded and his head lying on top of his arms, looking away from her seat. Then the late bell rang and a couple of people rushed in. Leon’s heart was pounding still just from seeing ___’s face. She so was beautiful to him and there was no doubt within his mind that he thought such things. His blood had rushed to his cheeks and didn't want anyone to see him blush. He closed his eyes and tried to relax. Images of her face, her pretty eyes, and (h/l) (h/c) hair kept popping into his mind. He groaned to himself slightly then he felt a hand on his shoulder and slightly peeped over his arm to see her.  

         "Good morning class. Say hello to the person sitting next to you and become good friends. Starting today they will be your lab partner, as we get into labs, for the rest of the year. If you have any issues hold them until the end of class and speak to me personally. Now to go over the things you will be learning today and a rundown of the things you'll need for upcoming labs."  

         "Are you feeling okay? If your throat or stomach hurts, I have something for either of them." ___ whispered to Leon as Mr. Kirkland continued to talk, her voice had concern, but her face was a bit blank.  

         "I'm fine," Leon grumbled softly then buried his face into his arms again. He heard some rustling of things then heard a few things being placed in front of him. He looked up again and his stupid blood rushed to his cheek again. There were three cough drops and a small bottle of Tums with a little note. Leon reached forward and opened it.  

          ‘Leon, I guess you don't want to talk to me. I don't believe your fine so take something for it. I have a pharmacy in my bag most of the time. So please just do something about your sickness, ___.’ That's all the small note said, and it made him groan again.  

         'Great now the girl I think is cute is trying to be nice to me and she thinks I am giving her the cold shoulder.' Leon thought to himself then pulled out a pen and wrote back onto the note from her. Then he folded it the way she had and pushed it back to her along with the things you put in front of him.  

         ___ looked at him confused for a second then opened the note. ‘___, I am fine. I am. I have a lot on my mind. Please take back your medicine. Why do you have a pharmacy in your bag?’

         She giggled slightly then stuff the things back into her bag and replied and passed it back.

          ‘People in my family, including me, get sick easy so it's nice to be prepared all the time. Plus, I've thought about becoming a nurse.’  

         Leon passed it back to her. ‘I am sorry you get sick a lot.’ There was a part scratched out heavily, but she could manage to read it. ‘Would you be my nurse?' A blush formed on slightly on her checks and wrote back to it.  

          ‘It's not your fault; sit with me at lunch today?’ Leon blushed more and saw a light scratched out area, making his heart pound. 'Could she somehow read what I scratched?' Then he read the scratched-out part. 'I only take cute patients, so yes.’   

         "Leon, what are you doing?" The teacher, Mr. Kirkland shouted at him.  

Leon's face was flushed but he pulled himself together and looked at Arthur. "Oh, I am just taking notes."  

         "Really now, then you won't mind if I read them?" Arthur had known Leon for a while and figured he was lying.  

         "Yeah sure, here." Leon offered the piece of paper out to Mr. Kirkland.  

         "Never mind, I will talk to you after class."  

        Leon smirked a bit at pissing off Arthur then looked at ___. "Yeah, I'd like to sit with you at lunch."  

         Him speaking directly to her made the blush deepen, she nodded then fold her arms and to bury her head. Leon looked at ___ shocked for a moment then realized she was doing the same as he from earlier.  

         'I have a feeling taking notes in biology will become a big part of my life.' Leon thought to himself and laid his head on his arms. This time he laid his head so he could stare at her. When she peered out of her arms her beautiful (e/c) locked with his light brown ones. They both blushed but neither of them looked away nor said anything. They both could tell that mornings at school might not be all that bad, after all.

Bright but argumentative. I was never afraid of pointing out things I didn’t feel were fair hfhddh

When we were learning numbers kids would often write 91 for nineteen, just flip them, y’know, and Ms. Potter yelled at the class for it. Baby Generiq went into it about how it was an understandable mix up because you do say the number first. In twenty-three you write the two first, so in nineteen it’s easy to assume you would write the nine first.

8. movies or tv shows?

What I don´t like of some female Mexico OC´s:

NOTE: This is kind of a follow up to this image I posted

WARNING BEFORE YOU READ: This is A PERSONAL OPINION, and I will try to be the most objective possible. But if you don´t agree with me, it´s OK, I will respect it, and if you feel I´m talking about your work and/or your OC, this is not a personal attack on you, so please AVOID THE HATE COMMENTS. This article does not just apply to the female Mexico OC´s, but to all female Hetalia and Countryhumans OC´s (but it does apply more on Hetalia than Countryhumans), who fell into the Mary Sue trap. Also, out of respect for the authors, I will not mention names or their work. And last, if i´m writing this, when I have my own female Mexico OC, it doesn´t mean I´m an expert on how to write a good Mexico character, and mine is the best above them all. My OC can´t be accurately perfect, and some people may think it has some mistakes or not like it at all, but that´s OK, I respect that. Thanks for reading this, and now to the article:

What I don´t like of some female Mexico OC´s:

Mexico has been one of the most requested characters in Hetalia since the beginning, but only has been mentioned on the show and the manga, and since we still don´t have a canon design yet, many fans have designed their own OC, including me. 

There are tons on Mexicos in the fandom, some are pretty good, some are okay, and some are… pretty bad. Those last ones are the ones you can find on both, fanfics and fanarts, those are the ones who fell into the Mary Sue trap. Those are the ones who doesn´t feel like a real depiction of the country, the history and the culture, but more of a projection of the author. Careful with this! It doesn´t mean you cannot base your character on yourself, many famous authors have done this, J.K. Rowling based some of Hermione´s character on her, as well Stephen King with adult Bill on It. These are interesting and well written characters. What authors don´t do, is to transform those characters into the full center of the plot: everyone talks about them even when they are not in the same room, all the events happen because of them, everyone is concerned about them, everyone falls in love with them, etc. 

For what I have read or watch, this are some common mistakes some authors commit while designing a female Mexico OC or writing a fanfic about her:

1. She´s indescribably beautiful, and just because of that, all the male characters fall in love with her!

Ugh, one of the most common Mary Sue´ mistakes! With this I don´t mean a character cannot be beautiful or to have suitors, but when you only rely on his/her good looking appearance as the character main attribute, Houston, we have a problem… 

The cringiest Mexico fanfics I have read are the ones in which Mexico gains all the male characters attention, only because she is a sexy woman. There was one fanfic in which Mexico was a girl disguised as a man the whole time (and the reason of why was not justified very well), and when she showed her true gender, ALL MEN INSTANTLY FELL IN LOVE WITH HER, AND STARTED TO FIGHT FOR WHO WAS GOING TO BE THE LUCKIEST NATION WHO´LL MARRY HER! Really?! You have known this person for a long time, who you didn´t pay attention when she was a boy, but now that she has boobs you immediately want to marry her? If I was Mexico, I´ll have said “Screw you all! I´m outta here!” 

I´m not saying I don´t like Mexico being shipped with everyone. For God´s sake! This is Hetalia! Where everyone is shipped with at least three countries, if not with all the characters! What I don´t like is that these authors put all Mexico ships, IN THE SAME FIC! This fanfic I was talking about made me cringe because not only Mexico dates all male characters, but she gets kissed by everyone, flirts with everyone, some have watched her naked, and everyone change their personality because of Mexico (really, there´s a chapter where Netherlands takes her for a walk in his country, he starts to spend money because of her, and he starts to act silly and cheerful around her, THAT´S NOT NETHERLANDS!). And then you say Seychelles or any other girl in Hetalia is a Mary Sue…

Another thing I don´t like is when the authors describe Mexico as the most beautiful woman of all Hetalia girls, both the canon ones and the OC´s ones. For example, there is a fanfic in which Mexico and Argentina are fighting over Germany (and of course, Germany is in love with Mexico, though he got married with Argentina) and all the countries say Argentina is an attractive girl, but they never stop repeating Mexico is ten times more beautiful than her! (Ouch!) In my opinion, all canon Hetalia and Nyotalia girls are pretty, but that doesn´t mean all the guys have to fell in love with them. I already said Hetalia never tried to make a country more outstanding than the rest. There´s one girl who designed her Mexico OC, and many fans assure she´s one of the most accurate depictions of the country, but what I have seen in the comments, is people praising her beauty and fashion style, not her personality at all. 

2. If she´s a girl, she´s girly and has to act like a Disney Princess.

Even on these days, some authors still think that a female character has to play all the stereotypical characteristics: feminine, wearing skirts and dresses, sweet, caring, shy, submissive. I´m sorry, but that´s not how I see Mexico as a woman. Have you ever seen Mexican actresses like Salma Hayek, Eiza Gonzalez or María Félix? They are attractive and feminine, but when they are interviewed they are very charismatic, very expressive and very playful. Yes, mexican women are known for being caring and loving, but also, have you seen the mexican mother stereotype? 

Mexican women have been historically recognized for their strong temperament and rebelliousness.

In the Hetalia universe, the girls can have beautiful long hair and wear a dress, but at the same time they can wear a militar uniform and being pretty badass. And to be honest I´m a little tired to see female Mexico OC´s wearing the same (sometimes oversexualized) dress! : 

This is a folk dress, you can see it on national festivities, on pin up images, on beautiful actresses like Maria Felix, but you´ll never see mexican women wearing this dress as everyday casual clothing, nor in the past or the present. Also, didn´t Mexico went to wars? Didn´t she have an Independence War, a war against France and USA, a civil war, a revolution, or participated in WW2? I would like to see more badass Mexico OC´s wearing militar uniforms.

3. The whole plot revolves around her, everything happens because of her, even a fricking war! 

This is one of the most unrealistic things I´ve read and one of the most common mistakes while writing an OC on a fic. In the same fanfic where Mexico and Argentina are fighting over Germany, he, for no reason and out of character, attacks Mexico because he is jealous of her dating Russia, and when the others countries stop him from almost killing her, he wakes up his inner Nazi spirit (oh, come to read this Tumblr SJW´s who attack Hetalia!) reunites the Axis (Italy and Japan obey him without protesting, even when they have nothing to do with this) and the former Allies declare war to him, BECAUSE OF MEXICO! And what does Mexico do? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! A country who historically showed solidarity to the other countries, who is against international conflicts and calls for peaceful solutions, DOES NOTHING TO STOP THEM! She literally lets them fight for her!

And guys, the Cold War didn´t start because America and Russia were fighting over Mexico, the Zimmerman telegram was not a love confession letter, nor the only reason America entered to WW1; and France and England we´re not just interested in Mexico when she declared her independence, but all Spain former territories!

4. If it´s needed, the characters have to change their canon personalities.

I already told the Netherlands’ example in point number one and Germany’s in point number three, and it´s not just them. I have read many fanfics in which, for plot convenience, the characters are completely different from their already established personalities:

- Spain acting like an overprotective and loving father to Mexico, which yes, historically he didn´t let any other country to enter to his colonies without his permission, but in the Hetalia Universe, Himaruya stated that he was stern on his colonies, with the exception of Romano. So I cannot imagine Spain being all: “My little baby girl! Te quiero mucho!”

- America as the villain or the toxic boyfriend. In Hetalia there are no countries who play a full antagonist role, and none of them is a villain. I know Mexico and USA relationship is not always healthy, but in Hetalia, America never acts like a tyrant to the other countries. He can be full of himself and nosy with other countries’ issues, but he never mistreats the others as if he was Joffrey Lannister. Remember I mentioned this fanfic in which Germany is in love with Mexico, though he is married with Argentina, and he declares WW3 just because he was jealous of Russia dating Mexico? Well, this is not all the drama in this fic! In one chapter France and England are discussing that Mexico should marry one of them for her safety, (I don´t know how they came out with this conclussion, as if that would happen in real life) America hears them and says he would be the one to marry Mexico. At the start of the fic he acts like himself, and never shows interest in Mexico, but suddenly, out of thin air, he goes to Mexico´s side of the border and he´s like “Hey Mexico! I came here to ask you to marry me! Oh, you don´t want to? I DON´T GIVE A FUCK! YOU´LL BE MINE, WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!” And then he hits her and tries to r*pe her! And OMG, I have read many fics of this type where America acts like a son of a b*tch with Mexico. Another example. There´s one fanfic where Mexico (in this version he is a boy) is dating Russia and America is very jealous, so he threatens Mexico with dropping bombs at Russia and his Latin brothers, if he doesn’t get laid with him and breaks diplomatic relations with Russia. And it´s not his boss order or wish, he schemes all by himself. Are you sure we are talking about the same America from Hetalia?

I have many other examples but this article is already very long, so I think we´ll adress this later.

5. Not recognizable mexican features in the design. 

When a foreigner thinks how a Mexican looks like, what would they normally think? Brown skin, dark hair and dark brown eyes. Just look at this Digimon girl and the Olympic Games´version of Mexico:

We know not all mexicans share these features, since the country is a mix of races, predominantly indigenous and european; and I know that in Hetalia not all countries have accurate features, like Russia having purple eyes, but imagine I draw Mexico with pale skin, light auburn hair and green eyes. If I don’t put on her a folk dress or a sombrero, would you still think she´s Mexico?

5. The politically correct Mexico: She has no flaws, she does not commit mistakes, she´s a poor victim.

As a mexican myself, I can tell my country is very friendly and a social butterfly, but it´s not perfect at all! Mexico has commited some mistakes through history, like most of the nations, and it´s not always because of the “evil” America or Spain. Yes, we mexicans are very patriotic and we´re very proud of our culture and traditions, but we can´t deny we have issues, and yet we don´t like other countries to tell us that. In Hetalia everyone has good qualities, as well bad things, so please, don´t depict Mexico as someone who oustands above them all, give her some flaws, like all characters should have!

And don´t let me start with the submmisive Mexico! In some fanfics, Mexico is this poor country where everyone has mistreaten her, everyone took advantage of her, she´s the puppet of everyone, she has no real friends, boo hoo!

Well, I already took out from my chest what I had to say. I repeat, this is not a guide or a list of rules of how to design a female Mexico in the Hetalia Universe. This is my opinion and you can have your own version of Mexico. Only the day Himaruya give us a design and a appearance in Hetalia,, that will be the canon one in his universe. Meanwhile, I will still drawing my Mexico OC.

So... 2019, huh?

((LONG post ahead!))

This year has really been something, hasn’t it? I had to quit my second job ever because of my back problems (along with other shit lol), I hardly wrote anything all year, and I started in on my Bachelor’s degree. I moved 1600 miles cross-country to Arizona and I’ve been down here for six months now! I had to leave my Markiplier Nudes Calendar™ back in Illinois because I forgot to take it off my wall before I left and it probably got thrown away by the landlord :c, I let my parents borrow a credit card for the move down here and went into debt as a result of almost single-handedly financing the move, had several breakdowns, and despite my best attempts I haven’t been able to get a job yet, but I’m still trying!

A lot of things happened this year.

I turned 20.

I started liking myself again after years of literally hating myself and that quickly advanced to me loving myself again. Turns out I’m pretty cool, even if I am annoying as fuck.

Turns out that having primarily depressive episodes and not having the motivation or desire to take care of myself doesn’t make me any less of a person. It doesn’t make my struggles invalid just because I’m the one not taking care of myself. It turns out, taking care of yourself is fucking hard sometimes, especially if the combined symptoms of your mental and physical ailments put you in a position where everything feels like too much.

It also turns out that taking care of yourself is difficult when you’ve spent your entire life (or at least the parts where you actually had friends) putting all of the wants and needs of your friends and loved ones above your own.

Taking care of yourself is hard when you were raised to be The Strong One, who doesn’t break down and who doesn’t have any issues, thanks. The one who, sure, they haven’t showered in a week and they feel like crap because they haven’t eaten, but you don’t need to know that! You just go eat and take a shower, hun, The Strong One is okay.

It took until this year for me to learn that being The Strong One didn’t mean I couldn’t break down sometimes. It didn’t mean I couldn’t take time for myself and that I had to be available all the time for my friends. Setting boundaries has been a learning experience for me and everyone else in my friend group, I think. I think I’ve cried more this year than I have since I was a kid, and you know what that is? Growth.

And honestly, I’ve really gotta thank my lovely fiance @goreyglitches for some of that. I am petrified of crying when anyone can see or hear me. I was raised to be The Strong One and The Strong One doesn’t cry. I conditioned myself to not be a “crybaby” and to never, ever, ever cry. And I know that’s bad - repressing negative emotions just makes it worse in the long-run. I figured that out with anger and tried to fix it long before I tried to fix the crying issue, and this year? This year Tobi’s helped a lot. I trust him, and I feel safe with him, so when he shuts the door and pulls the covers over us and holds me and tells me it’s okay to cry, I cry. And I am so grateful to him for that I don’t think I even have words.

And @ashencreations has been a wonderful friend this year, as always, even if both of us have been having issues this year. They’ve, I think, been one of the people I vented to the absolute most and they’ve been a real peach about it and even if I don’t have a whole lot of energy to talk sometimes (most of the time) they still love me and are accommodating of my issues. That’s pretty cool! I know a lot of people who can’t talk to people they’ve dated in the past and I have to admit I wouldn’t have been surprised if we fell out this year, but here we are - finishing another year as best friends. They let me have my space and they check in to make sure I’ve eaten and slept and showered. And I try to do the same but my check-ins have been a little lackluster this year while I find my boundaries so oops for that. I’ll try harder next year!

And really, I have to thank everyone who’s stuck with me through this year. My friends and my followers and even just folks who know me because I’m mutuals with someone they’re friends with - all of you. I know this year has sucked and I’ve been really annoying and I’m constantly asking for money, so thank you for sticking around. I’m trying to get back into the old swing of things and I’ve put in about a billion applications and I’m in University, can you believe that? You guys being patient even when I’m annoying has been really helpful. This is especially true of the folks in Lexi’s server who have to see me venting all the time. Y’all are darlings and I’m sorry I keep dragging my shit in there lmao I’ll try not to so much next year.

I’m especially thankful, though, I think, of the people who are still with me after so many years of knowing me. Like Ran and Ness and Zare and Comedy and even Em, even if we don’t talk. I mean, Em probably the most - she knew me when I was such a shithead that it’s kinda laughable now and yet she’s willing to be mutuals with me now. That’s pretty funny. (Hey, Em, guess who’s still trying to figure out how to write that TMNT thing and make it as interesting as the original idea was?) And of course I’ve known Comedy since elementary school but we didn’t really get close until high school and then I dropped off the face of the earth for like a year lol but she’s been a peach the whole time I’ve known her. And Ran’s been around for a while, we’ve known each other long enough that he probably still remembers when I went by Al. And Ness, who doesn’t have tumblr to my knowledge, well I’ve known her since diapers and she’s going to be the Maid of Honor at mine and Tobi’s wedding when we have the money to do a real ceremony - I would have filled that place at her wedding, too, if her sister-in-law wasn’t a needy bitch who had to have that position or she’d pitch a fit and ruin the entire wedding. And like, don’t even get me started on Zare, who was there when I was the worst shithead I’ve ever been and somehow still likes me even all these years later. I introduced myself to this man as Prussia, y’all. I introduced myself to him as a fallen kingdom because it was easier to pronounce than my legal name.

(It may have also been because I was into Hetalia and projected onto the character really hard because of all the “I’m awesome!” and thought it would help me be more confident, and also perhaps because my legal name being mispronounced led to a lot of people knowing me as a different fallen kingdom so it was a haha funny joak to me)

Also, this year, a certain vine-man turned youtube-man made a video that really, really spoke to me. Thomas introducing Remus and having an entire episode about intrusive thoughts and ‘bad’ creativity was - it meant a lot to me. Because since 2018, when I started writing Ego stuff, I haven’t... Well, I used to write a lot of dark stuff, y’all. I wrote violent shit because I wanted to and it was kinda just my Thing™. But after I started writing Ego stuff I started feeling like that was problematic, like it was a bad thing that I wanted to write nasty stuff like that. No one did anything to make me think that! It was just that, well, that kind of violence just... Seemed out of place. I’ve been in the process of writing a 146K+ word, 43 chapter fic containing ritualistic cannibalism, murder, unsafe sex, and various other nasty things since 2017 and I spent a terrifying amount of time feeling... Bad for that last year and this year. I’ve had to re-learn that it’s okay to write nasty stuff (no matter the moral issues other people take with it) because exploring not-so-great things in fic, especially to cope, is one of the many points of writing fic. And I’ll be honest, my dumpster fire fic was something I was writing to get through my associate’s degree because it was a new and terrifying experience and the prominent theme of running away was a feeling I was dealing with in tandem at the time. Remus’ introduction reminded me that dealing with intrusive thoughts and exploring the ‘bad’ creativity doesn’t make me a bad person, it just means I have nasty ideas and even the best people can have those. At least I can turn them into something I’m proud of writing.

So, going forward, I’m not going to shy away from writing my nasty stuff, and in 2020 I’m going to try and finish Trial and Error. I haven’t updated it since August, 2018, guys, it needs a new chapter.

And on that note, I don’t usually make New Years’ Resolutions. I never saw the point in the past and it wasn’t something super encouraged by anyone around me, so it never seemed important. But I’m making a resolution this year.

Over the years and years of writing, I’ve encountered something I think every writer encounters - I stopped writing. Now, I’m not saying I don’t write. Obviously I do, and have been, for a long time. I’m saying I don’t write like I used to. In 2013/2014 I wrote a 36-chapter Sly Cooper fic featuring an OC that still gets hits to this day, and I wrote it over the course of three months. I started it in November 2013 and it was done and put aside by the third of January 2014. It’s still one of my favorites! But the chapters are short, the storyline needs work, I didn’t spellcheck anything or even remotely try to keep my timeline completely straight. It was the first multi-chapter story exceeding 10 chapters that I ever finished. I wrote a chapter a day, as long as I was capable of doing so, I posted it, and I never looked back. It’s not a great story, but it’s one of my favorites. I loved it then and I love it now. And that’s something I don’t do anymore! When a fic doesn’t live up to my expectations, I don’t love it like I love that old fic, which did not at all live up to my expectations. My perfectionism has developed over the years and it has killed my creativity. I can still make cool stuff, can still make things I like, but it’s not the same anymore.

So my resolution is, in 2020, I’m going to write.

I’m going to write like I used to, but I’m going to put all of my experience into it.

I started writing in 2008 or 2009, maybe even before that - if I can recapture the love I had for it then, then I will be in great shape. I didn’t spellcheck back then and frankly I kinda sucked at writing even in 2013/2014, but if I can love writing like I did then and put all of what I’ve learned into it? Holy shit. I mean, I’ve been rewriting that old Sly Cooper fic for the past couple weeks, so it’s not exactly a mystery how much better things will turn out if I pour my much better spelling and grammar, my better ideas, my better commitment, into my fics going forward. All I need to make them great is to love doing it.

So in 2020, I’m going to write.

2019 has been a wild ride, and I’ve written less than half of what I wrote in 2018, not even counting all of my Ego requests for either year. I’ve spent the last three days in a mad dash to reach 100K written this year on AO3 by writing 30K before midnight tonight. I have 5K left! But even breaching 100K I won’t be halfway there. In 2018 I wrote 225.6K on AO3, not counting Ego stuff. And I think that’s because I haven’t loved doing it like I used to - the fact that I’ve loved the fic I started in order to make my “30K by tonight” goal and I haven’t let myself have enough time to agonize over whether it’s “good” or not has a lot of effect on how much I’ve written. My wordcount per hour has, like, doubled because I actually wanted to work. So I’ll reach my goal by tonight and still have time to celebrate at midnight.

So, again, thank you to everyone who’s stuck with me through this crazy year. Things haven’t been great, I’ll be honest, but I’m hoping next year will be better. They’re already off to a good start - my dad and I have a plan for him to start paying me back for how much money we spent moving here, and if I can get a job it’ll only get easier and it’ll only get better. And on top of that me and Tobi have plans to legalize our Marriage™ in September. It won’t be anything big - we’re waiting to have a real ceremony until we have the money to make sure Zare and Ness and Ran can come. But if all goes well, on 9/20/20 we’ll have the legal shit sorted out and Tobi will officially be my husband so that’s just another thing to be looking forward to.

9. RP etiquette

A lotta people tend to just jump head-first into an RP without considering the other person, and carry out an entire RP this way. I’ve done it too. People also tend to think up ideas and just run with them (which can become god-modding in its extreme form) and that’s when this run-with-it mentality becomes inconsiderate. An RP is like telling a story with a co-author. If you were writing a book or short story with someone, you wouldn’t just think up a juicy angsty plot twist, write it, and expect your co-author to deal with that on their own. You talk about it, get their opinion, figure out together how you want it to pan out. Springing plot twists on your RP partner (and even sometimes adamantly refuting their efforts to get their character out of the situation) is incredibly rude. It’s basically saying you want to tell a story all on your own, and the other person is just there to add characters; you’re taking away their say, and that’s not okay. If you have an idea mid-rp, DM me! I promise I won’t be mad, I’ll be so thankful you thought to check with me before you did it, and we can even plan to see how it will turn out or continue on! RP isn’t just “oh I respond however I feel in the moment and they do the same until we die”. It’s telling a story, and that takes planning and communication.

We love when people like our RPs, really. But it’s not cool when you go around reblogging them, because we look at the number of reblogs to know when to start the next post. Tumblr is hella glitchy, we all know this, and when a post gets enough notifs you dont see every little icon at the top of the notes, all you see is that number of reblogs and likes. So when someone not rping with me reblogs my rp, it makes my job harder because every time the person I’m rping with replies, I’d have to manually count how many replies there are. Please don’t make me do more work than necessary; you can like, but please don’t reblog.

2. I saw a part of your RP on my dash and thought it was cool! How can I find the rest? (Alternatively: I saw your long-ass RP on my dash and want it gone, please tag it?)

Durarara

One of the first few anime I watched. I adored how the intricate stories were intertwined with others; how a bystander in one scene could be a hero or a villain in another. A choice that one makes can easily have devestaring consequences. And of course, the mastermind himself: Orihara Izaya.

Death Note

Oldie, yes. Overrated, probably. Completely worth watching and still able to discuss a decade after completion? Along with a few movies, musical adaptations, and a live action remake? Oh, yes!

Favorite characters are Near and Misa. The former for his cool nature that resembles L’s, but ultimately serves as a better allegory for Justice because he doesn’t find Kira for fun. No, he captures and probably would have him imprisoned for life because it’s his duty as L’s successor. He’s also heavily under-appreciated by the fandom. The latter for her adaptability and unpredictability in situations. Did you guys watch the Yorsuba arc? The girl was calculating how cute she was going to be. Plus, she’s not mentally well (her parents were murdered in front of her), but she still managed to handle herself SO WELL during her time as a prisoner under L’s inhuman methods to seek out the Second Kira. Again, she’s under-appreciated.

Death Parade

Brilliant idea. Has a possible tie in to Death Note. The opening was laughably so misleading!

There are some flaws, like plot holes and unfinished storylines, but it held up pretty well. We learned about the characters through how they interact with one another—especially when put under pressure. The Arbiters are amazing in that they can’t question the system, and yet, in the end, Decim tries to understand and formulate how Chiyuki is going to be finally put to rest.

If nothing else, just watch for the skating scene and the opening sequence.

Cells at Work (Hataraku Saibou)

How could I not add this show??? I’m not that great science, but I have been intimately acquainted with how the body works (I’m frankly disappointed no one has called 1146 a granulocyte yet and we haven’t seen any neurons in the manga 😞). Also...3803 is basically me: I’m terrible at directions, I’m continuously learning new things because I moved away, and the way she met 1146...is kind of how I met my best friend, hehehe.

That said, I’m really in love with this anime/manga fandom and hope to continue writing for it. (Insert self promotion: please read my fanfics on my main platform which is ffnet!)

Another reason why I love CAW...

This show made me love geography and my country so much. It’s funny, it’s hilarious, and it’s so heartwarming how the fandom likes to make all sorts of fanmade stuff to expand on what Hima-papa gives us. (YES, IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2018, I SHALL REFER TO HIMARYU-SENSEI AS HIMA-PAPA. FIGHT ME.)

Is Hetalia dead? I don’t know, but the fandom and one particular FanFiction by @cultureandseptember really helped me out a few years back.

Bungou Stray Dogs

I love literature, good looking animation, and smarmy little know-it-alls who like to play the fool. Hehehe, I’m planning on reading No Longer Human when I get the time. Does that mean Osamu Dazai is my favorite character? Well...

Can you blame me if I said yes? He’s so charming and enigmatic that you can’t help but love him. However, I think I really love him because I struggle with dark thoughts and suicidal ideation from time to time. I haven’t actively sought it out quite like he has in the past, but well... hehehe! I can also relate because he’s kind of like an outsider in the Agency due to his past—he’s different because he can’t actively cancel out your abilities, which always makes him a threat.

Anywhoozles, I’m still waiting to see the movie...Le sigh.

K Project

This. This is not the best anime out there. Seriously.

The animation gets wonky here and there, they do the women in here a huge disservice, and they put too much emphasis on how great Mikoto Suoh. Like, he’s great and all, but the dude has no effect on the story except for the last season.

With that said, I think the main selling point here isn’t the anime, but the side materials like the manga/novels. You get to appreciate the backstories of so many of the characters and you get to feel for them because some of them have suffered so much! (Read: Fushimi Saruhiko).

I think you can get the same amount of enjoyment if you stick to the novels/manga.

Favorite characters: Scepter 4 Alphabet Squad. They are the best boys. Also, Lieutenant Awashima Seri. And Fushimi Saruhiko. You know what? Just put down Blue Clan here. They’re all nerds and they enjoy it.

Also: Domyoiji Andy reminds me of U-4989 from CAW. So...

Violet Evergarden

Remember how I said that I liked literature? This entire anime is about the power of not only the written word, but of also the act of writing, sending, and receiving those words. The anime may be episodic in nature, but you can really connect with the character through her terrible backstory and really feel for her when she realizes that she needs to face her past. PTSD is real and I think the anime really handled the post war aspect of this torn down world really well.

I’m also a sucker for typewriters, steam punk, and characters that don’t really know how to function in society (but learn over the course of the story).

Watch this if you want feels...and get ready for episode ten.

Samurai Champloo

This takes place in feudal era Japan.

But there’s rapping.

And breakdancing.

And guys spraying paint everywhere.

Also, there’s a sunflower samurai we gotta look for???

Hahahah, while episodic in nature, this was a joy to watch. You never get to know the characters really well and when we reach our mission’s end, it seems to fall short, but it’s not about that. The journey is what makes this anime worth it simply because the characters interactions are rife with hilarity and all three mains balance each other out. There’s a fanfic out there that describes them in detail, but in a succinct manner that had me melting. (https://m.fanfiction.net/s/2351750/1/The-Order-of-Things) check it out when you have the time.

Anyway, for those of you who have watched it, I sincerely hope that they meet again in the future.

(But, let’s be real. They probably didn’t).

Tokyo Mew Mew

Guys.

This isn’t a joke.

I have a soft spot for this anime because this was my first ever anime I watched where I realized that this was anime. This was like my gateway anime. Not Sailor Moon. Not Naruto.

Looking back on this, it wasn’t the best—it’s your typical monster of the week deal with some environmental activism involved but for what it’s worth...it’s good??? Like, even the 4Kids dub (DONT CRUCIFY ME) even added some songs that were really great??? Bree Sharp’s Don’t Wake Me Up was my jam??? It fit better than the original Japanese counterpart???

TMM also introduced me to shipping, FanFiction, and amvs. That’s right, without this little gem, I would be writing/writing/thinking about FanFiction. I probably wouldn’t have been an anime watcher without this magical girl anime from the early 2000s.

So, yeah. This anime will always have a place in my heart because without it, I probably wouldn’t have become the person I am today. Thank you, Tokyo Mew Mew.

(This was also the birth of my first OTP before I knew what OTPs were: Kisshu/Ichigo...although nowadays, people are calling them Quiche/Strawberry? Hehehe, there’s so many things wrong here, I only like interactions, not the implications. That’s why I’m completely okay with Aoyama/Ichigo being endgame—and they’re actually really cute in the sequel manga???)

Excellent question Anon, thank you for asking! We actually haven’t put one together yet. I should probably work on building a nice simply condensed about us/rules page over the next couple days. So I will write head canons, I’ll take a shot a match ups, I’ll screw around with imagines, but the kicker there is it’s been a while since I’ve done any consistent writing, so sometimes I’m okay and sometimes I suck. I’m not a bad editor though. I think I will probably keep a provisional word limit up (less than 1000), but talent might magically manifest ever so often (haha wouldn’t that be nice)

I will write a fuckton of things, but I will not touch: pedophilia, graphic rape scenes, graphic torture, lolita, shotacon, anything that would get you kicked off a school computer, anything that would get you put on an NSA watch list, Disney porn… I can’t think of anything else but I am leaving myself the power to go “Oh, and that”

I’d like to leave a note, I dont like writing smut and mine is typically pretty boring, from the feedback I’ve received.

I will write about aged up characters if I’m comfortable with what has been proposed. Feel free to ask me specifically, I’m totally up for working something out. I will say the idea of writing about real people makes me suuuuuper uncomfortable. Their characters, sure, but them, not so much. Take the TV show Supernatural for example. I will write about the show characters if I know them, like Sam, Dean, Cas, Billy, Gabriel, ect. I won’t write about the actors, Jensen, Jared, Misha, or anyone else involved.

Stuff I want to see improved in S2 (if we get one)

So before I start I just want to say that I genuinely love Yuri on Ice. It’s one of my favourite anime, not just from 2016 but just in general. (Because of all the recent “discourse” I feel the need to clarify that when I say “favourite” I don’t mean “objectively best”. I just mean subjectively and biasedly favourite. Like, for comparison, my favourite anime ever is probably Durarara, and I could write an entire thesis on the problems with that show. Now with this disclaimer out of the way on with the rest of the post.)

But even though this is one of my favourite shows, there are some changes / improvements which could make it even better (in my opinion anyway.) 

Dot point list of the main stuff which I would like to see done better/changed: 1. pacing / tension 2. animation (I’m not even going to bother elaborating on this one)

Dot point list of stuff which was okay in S1, but I would like to see expanded on: 1. side characters 2. Yuri (Plisetsky) 3. the LGBT+ representation

I’ll elaborate on these points under the cut. (This got a lot longer than I wanted it to. Sorry)

So probably the two biggest issues with the show was the pacing / tension and the animation. I’m not going to talk about the animation. Since the Crunchyroll awards that has been cover to death. And there are also plenty of great posts talking about the pacing issues.

But I am going to talk about an episode structure which I think would work better than what was in S1. Because it would be a second season a lot of the introductory episodes at the start could be reduced. The first two competitions from S1 (the Onsen on Ice and the local competition) would be unnecessary. Once those two competitions are out of the equation then there would only be three competitions. So potential episode line up could be:

Ep 1 & 2: training in Russia and getting to know the Russia skaters better. Ep 3: Arriving at the first competition. No actual competing just introduction of the character who will be in the event. Ep 4: First competition Short Program Ep 5: First competition Free Skate Ep 6: Break episode. Moving on to the second competition. Character introductions for that event. Ep 7: Second competition Short Program Ep 8: Second competition Free Skate Ep 9: Break episode. Moving on to final competition. Character introductions for that event. Ep 10: Final event Short Program Ep 11: Final event Free Skate (Part 1) Ep 12: Final event Free Skate (Part 2) + winding up the series

I think most of the logic behind why I think this would allow for better pacing is quite obvious. The biggest problem with the final episode, in my opinion, is that it was rushed. They couldn’t have all of the free skating and give the series a proper wrap up in the time that they had. Also having break episodes between the events would allow for a couple of things: more fleshed out side character introductions, more lengthy conversations/interactions between Yuuri and Victor, it would allow for more variation in the shows tension, and it would give the animators a break.    

I also think it would be good that if Yuuri and Victor are both competing that they are in the same competition for two of the events. Preferably the fist and the last. The the middle event could focus on Yuuri (and maybe Yuri as well) and then we just briefly check in to see how Victor’s second even went in the Ep 9 break episode. By this episode the majority of the finalists would have been introduced anyway so some of the time could be used for other stuff.

...This bit got longer than I wanted it to (sorry).

Now on to the stuff which I thought was handled okay, but I would like to see either expanded on or done even better:    

1. The side characters. I thought that with how little time the series had to introduce side characters they did a remarkable job. Like, I can remember all of them without any difficulty. Also I think the last time I saw an anime which represented this many nationalities it was Hetalia... and if that doesn’t say everything about the state of diversity in anime I don’t know what does. They could have been more developed though and I’ve already kinda talked about how that could be achieved in the series layout I suggested.

On a related note: Yuri on Ice, I will give all of my money if you introduce a trans or X-gender side character. (okay maybe not all of my money, but a large portion of it.)              

2. Yuri Plisetsky. He is amazing. How could he be done better? More screen time... That is all.

3. The LGBT+ representation. So I actually thought that the LGBT+ representation in this series was really good. Earth shatteringly brilliant? No. But still better than 99% of other anime. The two criticisms I’ve seen are about the fan service and the fact that it didn’t address prejudice/homophobia.

Firstly, about the fan service. I’m the type of person who would be happy if nothing ever had fan service. But still, I don’t think that the fan service detracts from the representation. (I’ve actually made a post about this before.) I don’t think that there was fan service because there were gay characters. I think that it was more a case of there was fan service and there happened to be gay characters. (I’m never quite sure how to word that but hopefully that explains the distinction?) Basically I think that the fan service would be exactly the same even if the characters were straight. Which is why I don’t think it is overly relevant to the quality of the representation in the show.

Secondly, the lack of dealing with real world issues. This argument I do somewhat agree with. I actually keep going back and forth on my position with this one. Because on the one hand I love that this show exists in an ideal world without homophobia. But on the other had I agree that the representation would be more impactful if it reflected real world issues. And so I’ve thought about this a lot and I think I’ve come up with a way to kinda have both:

Imagine a scene where Victor and Yuuri are at practice or a competition or something being all lovey dovey. Some character comes up to them and says something to the effect of “could you tone down the PDA. You’re making some people uncomfortable.” I don’t think it would need to be outright stated that this is related to homophobia and there doesn’t need to be tonnes of dwelling on it. I would be perfectly happy if the response was just Yuuri and Victor telling the person to get lost and that if the PDA is making others uncomfortable then that’s their problem... Bonus points if Yuri then materializes behind the person and kicks them.

So in that way it’s never explicitly stated as homophobia, but it would still reflect a small amount of the prejudice experienced by gay couples in real life. (I hope I explained this part okay?) I think it would be a tricky tightrope to walk to reflect both real world issues and remain in an idealized reality, but I think it would be possible.

I would also be perfectly happy if neither Victor nor Yuuri ever explicitly stated that they were gay or talked at length about their orientation. But I would like to see an explicit “I love you” scene at some point.  

Also, I would like a tonne more conversations between Victor and Yuuri like the one they had on the beach. 10 more of those please.

Also, Sara and Mila should be dating.  

Also, ideally, none of the characters are straight.

Alright, so this got waaaaaay longer than I wanted it to. I sure do love to ramble. So here’s a summary:

tl;dr: The pacing of the show was it’s biggest weakness and could be improved by having a different episode structure. The side characters were great but could be given more depth. Yuri Plisetsky is perfect and needs more screen time. The LGBT+ representation was pretty good, but can always be better.

Headcanon posts are not okay to reblog unless I say otherwise.

• Like spamming is okay! I very occasionally lose roleplays, and getting lots of notes from likes are never a factor for that, for me personally. If I lose a roleplay, it’s mostly just because I forgot, so that’s really a “me” thing. I’m usually very good at keeping track of who I’m roleplaying with and how many ongoing threads I have, and I reply pretty consistently, so just remind me if I haven’t responded after five or more days (as stated in one of the above rules)! And I like it when people like my posts! It lets me know that you like my blog and the stuff I post, and it makes me happy :’)

• I’m pretty lenient with short replies. Don’t feel pressured to match the length if my reply gets long! Multi-para (usually 2-4 paragraphs) is my go-to for roleplays, so I usually do long replies by default.

• Adding onto that, I honestly don’t mind one-liners. Of course, in crack/online roleplays it’s fine but I’m okay with it in serious roleplays too. I prefer it if you don’t give me one-liners, but hey, as long as I’m still having fun with the roleplay anyway, it’s cool with me! I understand not being able to think of anything to write, so just as long as you don’t give me one or two words as your reply like ‘He smiled.’ or ’*laughs*’, I’ll be cool with it. Put at least some effort even if you’re only gonna give me one sentence, otherwise I’ll drop the rp once it becomes a repeat offense.

• I will not change the formatting of my roleplays to fit yours. I’m comfortable with sticking to only paragraph style roleplays for myself, thank you very much. It’s cool if you format, I think formatting can look nice sometimes. I will sometimes use icons, but I will not go all out with formatting my own posts with all that cool ‘small text’, and indents, and bolding and all that. The most I ever do with my formatting is italics for emphasis on certain words.

• I tend to move roleplays from asks onto its own post. If I send you an ask meme and you answer it, I’ll respond by making a new post, tagging you, and linking to your reply. Until formatting on asks are fixed, I will answer any asks sent to me in a new text post rather than asks.

• I accept any sort of asks! If they aren’t answered after a while, either I don’t know how to answer it or I might be drawing it out and I am a very slow artist- Sorry-

• Feel free to tag me in any of those tagging memes! I don’t mind and I think they’re pretty fun to do! ^^

• Adding onto the above rule, you’re more than welcome to send me those chain asks like “send this to 10 roleplayers you think are really great!” because it’s super duper nice that you would think to send one to me! But don’t expect me to send them to other people, because I won’t :’) my anxiety won’t let me, so I’m sorry-

• If I follow you, that means I’ve already read all of your rules. I have also read your About and Mun pages, if you have those as well. I might not send the codephrase, though, because most of the time I get anxious over having to send things like that. I’m very sorry–! But if I follow you, then chances are that I most likely have read them- If you choose not to trust me on this, I understand.

• I generally follow every rp blog that follows me, but I might not follow some people back for a few reasons. Some might be for the type of content you post on your blog, but I am still non-selective! I will roleplay with anyone who asks (unless you wanna rp gross things or you’re a mean person,,,, like your muse can be as much of a dick as you want, that’s no problem but don’t be gross to other people as yourself) and if I do roleplay with you, I will be more likely to follow you as well.

• Adding onto the above rule, however, please respect that it’s nothing personal if I ever unfollow you either! It’s not that I hate you or anything, but if you haven’t followed me back and you’re a private rp blog, or if we’re mutuals but never really roleplay, our muses just don’t click, you spam stuff that I don’t want to see on my dash, or you’ve become inactive for years and/or don’t interact with me anymore, there’s nothing wrong with that! –ABOUT THIS BLOG–

• These are technically fandomless OCs, though they were integrated into the Hetalia world in a way (Vinnie’s boyfriend is Feli Vargas Jr. and Devon, Vincent, and Flint’s boyfriends are just Feli’s 1P, Opposite, and Opposite 1P counterparts respectively). That being said, I will most likely roleplay within the Undertale or Deltarune fandoms (yeah sorry, I’m not too into roleplaying in the Hetalia fandom lol, i’m just stealing the fandom’s AU concepts and running), but I am open to any muse, and other fandoms I am familiar with.

• I’ll also rp with fandoms I’m not into either, as long as you have a good about section for your character, which also indicates how you portray them (any headcanons or AUs you have that aren’t canon, or whether you portray them as canonly as possible, unless they’re OCs of course since a regular about page is a given) and I’ll probably look up other things about that fandom in its wiki if I don’t know what something is anyway.

• This blog is OC, multiverse, and crossover friendly! Multiple threads are also greatly encouraged, because I love having lots of threads with people!

• This blog is a single ship blog! All my muses already have boyfriends whom they all love very much and they do not want to get into relationships with other people

• I will tag common triggers and such, but don’t be afraid to tell me if you have something you want me to tag! I promise I’ll remember to tag it from then on. I do not have any known triggers myself. Any trigger warning tags will be written as “tw; ____” with a semi-colon, not a colon. If I feel like something should be tagged as a trigger but I’m not sure what to tag it exactly, I’ll just tag it as “tw” as a sort of catch-all tag.

Why do you do this to me? ;A; I never read any of the questions before I post, urgh.

Right.

A. If you could rec a piece of music to accompany one of your fics, what would you pick? Why? 

Uh. Well I know that Dance For Me has a song. I had the idea and the title and began writing before I needed a song and went looking. This is what I found:

E.  Who’s your favorite main character you’ve written? 

Arthur. Or APH England. He’s the easiest for me to write for some reason.

But I like my OC from my novel, Benrial. He’s pretty easy to write because, after thinking about it, he’s a more confident, more fun and just better version of me.

F. What stories are you planning for the future? 

Well. I’m in the middle of writing my Christmas one-shots. I’ve counted and there’s 15. (I’m supposed to start posting them on Wednesday cause it’s twelve days till Christmas then - unless I counted wrong which is highly likely. Urgh, numbers.)

Then I’m gonna do this thing cause I wanna write more Voltron stuff but I have too many things started and not enough time, dammit!

After that, it’s Hunk’s birthday and I’m gonna do one-shot birthday things for all the paladins! ... Even if Shiro technically has no birthday... They’ll all be different birthdays from different universes. For instance, Hunk’s will be from a soulmate AU. Actually, I’ll just tell you all of them’s since I’m excited: Shiro’s will be canonverse because canon Shiro needs a break. Pidge’s will be a chat AU and... I’m not sure how I’ll do in that cause I’ve not done one like that before that I can recall... Lance’s birthday is in a fantasy AU where it’s his destiny (along with Hunk and Pidge and Keith) to save the kingdom but there’s a misunderstanding and angsty hurt and the Galra catch him and, well. Keith gets his birthday in a zombie apocalypse because he had to go and be born in the month of Halloween. (I would’ve written it this year but, urgh, time. There is not enough of it.)

They’ll be written between the continuation of the Sticky series because I have a lot of ideas for that AU so. I should point out that I mean a continuation from the second chapter of Glue and not the first one.

And in between this, I need to finish of the chapter I started of Shadow House 2, try writing more of my novel and I really wanna write more of Lance’s Fury.

So, uh, does anyone want to pay me to write instead of going to work so I have time for all this?

G. Where do you think you grew the most this year? 

Probably my belly.

Nah, kidding.

I think I’m... pretty much the same? I think I might be getting better at mimicking other’s styles, like I apparently did with Thames’ Child. I’m not sure that’s a good thing.

Then again, I did write over 50,000 words of my novel and I never finished it so I reckon I did better than my first attempt which... eh. *shrugs*

I. What’s your favorite work you did this year? Why? 

Hm.

Hm. I quite liked Neighbour. And Glue. Which, uh, says a lot about me... Or says that I’m kinda dissatisfied with all the half-finished stories I apparently have lurking around. *sighs*

J.  What are the best jokes you told this year? Any jokes you thought were funny that people didn’t catch? Vice-versa? 

Uh... Hm. Heh, the one I can actually remember is the jokes they tell in the second version of Glue where it’s ‘not as if a vampire will lure me away’ or something to that affect.

Also! Any of the jokes in Thames’ Child because I managed to evoke the source material for the crossover quite well, I think. :3

K. Who have you killed this year? Why did they have to die? 

... I think it best I not say... ;P

But, lemme see...

Wait, I can’t say without spoiling things! But, well, I killed Arthur and Gilbert at points because of the universe and the idea.

But, in Shadow House, wow. So many die. It’s meant to be a horror story - kinda like a horror movie where people are dying in horrible ways

N. Anything you were planning to write that never got written? 

I have a document solely with Hetalia fanfic ideas which is 84 pages long. To be fair, some of them have been written but I’ve kept them in the document because I had vague ideas of what could happen next (these are usually one-shots).

I also have a separate document for every other fandom idea and that’s 14 pages long, including notes for one I’ve started. Or for one-shots I wanted to continue and haven’t gotten around to it.

P. What are your pet peeves in other people’s work? 

When they don’t make it clear who’s talking.

By that, I mean, they have the person speaking named in the next paragraph for some reason. Or they close their speech but all they needed to do was take a new paragraph.

I get confused easily - don’t do that to me. :(

"What about it?" Arthur asked distractedly as his heart sank. He was more focussed on his previous comment. There were only two ways to punish a god: strip them of their powers and lock them away for a millennia or to kill them outright and replace them with another. Arthur would not mind dying but the idea of being unable to see Gil fulfilling his life while he was locked away would be a torture he didn't want to endure.

"Have you not noticed?" Alfred asked, a smile beginning to grow. "Look."

Without thinking, Arthur obeyed, looking down. His eyes widened when he realised what he was looking at: his toga was now white. And, now that he thought about it, he had once worn black, had he not? He stared down at himself, confused.

From Lance’s Fury:

Just as they reached the adjoining corridors, there was movement and Lance jerked away as something came towards him. Whatever it was, it was fast and probably deadly. He grasped for something to defend himself with but he didn't carry a knife and there wasn't a vast source of water around. Before he could even think of taking the water from the air around them, another movement cut in front of him and two blades clashed just a hand's breadth from his heart.

Blinking once, his eyes focussed and he found Keith wielding a knife against Pidge's dagger. Keith and Pidge struggled for a moment before they broke away. Lance staggered back, still in shock, his heart hammering in his chest. He had almost been killed... By Keith.

"Keith-" Pidge began but the other academ had focussed his attention on what he seemingly deemed the greater threat and launched himself at her, his windcrafting ruffling her hair as he used his increased speed to fight her. Thankfully, Pidge was using her metalcrafting and was just as fast, keeping up with every swing.

"Oh man, oh man, oh man," Hunk was mumbling beside Lance. "What do we do?"

From Glue:

Unable to think of an intellectual response to that, Arthur merely said, "You're ridiculous."

"And you're actually smiling – it's pretty."

Arthur sucked in a breath, startled by the comment. His heart did an odd thing where it fluttered and clenched and seemed to swell all at once. It was way too soon for him to entertain thoughts for anyone but Kiku, in his opinion – even if he had been dumped. And Kiku clearly had no intentions of returning to him. So he was on his own and free to do as he liked. Shaking his head to clear away his thoughts, Arthur turned to Alfred and held out his hand.

"I've not actually introduced myself. I'm Arthur Ki-"

He was interrupted with a loud laugh. "Dude, you totally don't need to be so formal. But, Arthur, huh? It's a cool name. Suits you."

Again, Arthur couldn't stop his lips from twitching up into a smile. "Your foam moustache suits you, too."

R. If you had to rewrite one of your stories from scratch, which one would it be? What would you do to it? 

This lot. I’d make it more realistic. Like, do actual research into the porn industry? Or just make their reactions and stuff more... I dunno. I mean, it’s okay just now but I’m just gonna continue it rather than go over it.

Also, all my earlier stories on ff.net - I would scrub all the attempts at accents. Urgh. (Though, some of the stories, the accents are supposed to be exaggerated versions which would disguise them. Or something.)

S. What’s the sexiest thing you wrote this year?

T. Themes, motherfucker, do you have them? What are they? 

... I don’t really get this question. Themes for what? In general? Because, if so, not really...?

When I started The Keeper, I thought it was gonna be simple. It’s... not any more. Also needs to be updated. ^^”

V. Which story was the most viscerally pleasing to write? Tell us your narrative kinks. 

... I honestly liked writing them all? I like the ideas finally being put down. Then they leave my head, poof! And people leave kudos and I’m like, “Wait, what was that one again?”

I can’t think of any... kinks...

W.  Who are your favorite writers? 

Hm, well, @zeplerfer, obviously. And... there are others but I’m just too lazy by this point to go looking for links to the ones on AO3.

X. What’s your least favorite work of this year? 

Actually, one I’ve not posted yet. The first Christmas one I finished. The prompt limits you to ‘enemies in the same company’ and my mind just went ‘nope’ so what I got down was horrible. I feel bad cause it’s for an anon...

Y. Why did you write? For fun, for a friend, for acclaim? 

For fun.

Also, always wanted to be an author, even if I took a course in something completely different!

And I think I’d go insane if I didn’t, to be honest.

Z. If you could choose one work and immediately finish it, what would it be? How would you end it?

Hm. This is difficult. I want all of them to be finished so everyone can find out what happens in them!
