In 1991, documentary filmmaker and author Pamela Beere released a film called Funny Ladies: A Portrait of Women Cartoonists. Lauded by everyone from The Boston Globe to The Los Angeles Times, her work bringing to life the stories of talented women in cartooning is a beautiful and delightful film. However, it is devastating that she started her journey by asking the question “why aren’t there more women in the comics pages?” back in 1991, a question I found myself asking close to 25 years later (which was part of why I started this blog in 2014).

Read more about Pamela’s life on New Day Film’s website, here, and celebrate her legacy of pioneering bringing light to funny ladies in the cartooning field. Pamela had a lovely voice and an inquisitive mind, and brought attention to subjects that needed it. I hope you enjoy her films!

You know that question, If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive who would it be?
I’ve definitively decided that if in the next decade I could have dinner with anyone it would be Anna Kendrick and Kat Dennings. I don’t know if they know or like each other but I think all of our vibes would be awkward and hilarious and be a fun time.
When I worked in jewelry we had this semi-regular lady who would come in with her cat on her.
The cat was harnessed but it was utterly superfluous because the she just dangled over the woman’s shoulder like a stuffed toy, utterly limp. It was one of the most beautiful and unsettling creatures I’ve ever seen. The woman herself was bizarre in the ways you’d expect someone who shops with a shoulder cat to be.
It’s ethereal blue eyes we’re devoid of… everything. I often voiced to my beloved that I thought the cat was piloting the woman psychically which seemed like the most plausible explanation for the whole situation.
I liked when the lady came in though, I got to pet the empty eyed cat. She was so soft.
your honor she canonically is obsessed with romance novels and the supernatural but like, in a safe and accessible way - she had no chance against this man.
jack harkness is the funniest character on the planet simply due to the SHEER AMOUNT of times someone will turn up from The Past and he had a thing with them. its to the point where the surprising thing would be if he HADNT fucked them. like yeah ok yet ANOTHER one of Grandpa Slut's exes is here. Unsurprising
as much as i love sam knowing about destiel before dean does, there's something about "i mean yeah my brother and his angel best friend are really weird about each other, live together, co-parent a kid, nearly kill themselves every time the other is gone, stand too close and stare at the other's mouth while they talk, but i mean to each their own i guess??" that's so special to me
