I saw the post you reblogged about the Narnia fic exchange, but how does one sign up? The blog itself doesn't seem to have an askbox (not on mobile anyway) so I'm hoping you can help?
Apparently the @thenarniaficexchange is having trouble with their ask box right now, but I’ve tagged them so they can swoop in and respond!
(You can also find all the info on the NFE dreamwidth: https://narniaexchange.dreamwidth.org/148696.html )

Alright... I started the next installment of More Savage Grace because Inhuman Narnia is my happy place. It’ll be posted at some point this week... maybe even tonight if I have insomnia again. :)

The "deathmatch between your current and childhood favorite characters" post has got me thinking about the inherent comedy that you could wring out of dropping Reepicheep into. basically any other fantasy setting as a detour on his way to Aslan's country. Here's what I've got so far for dropping him into Middle-earth:
Ideally he gets dropped somewhere random, wanders around for a while, and then winds up at Rivendell at the same time at the rest of the Fellowship
Reep might be vulnerable to the One Ring a la Boromir, but there's a chance his faith in Aslan would have some sort of mitigating effect on that
He would absolutely try to fight the Balrog though
Gandalf, trying to hold back a helldemon: "Fly, you fools!" / Reepicheep: Seen 2:41 pm ✔️
He would also try to fight Saruman, or at the bare minimum call him a coward from the foot of Orthanc
And possibly would challenge the Ents before realizing they were friendly
Wormtongue is definitely going to lose a foot or something
“Hinder me? Thou fool. No living man may hinder me!" "It is, then, my good fortune not to be a man!"

C. S. Lewis is long gone & his implied Islamophobic and racist views were of his time, but Narnia has always been about defending the oppressed, truth & freedom.
So here's Aslan (who lived 33 years as a Palestinian man) & Queen Aravis (a woc who wanted freedom) in a vinery of watermelons🍉🇵🇸

The Problem of Susan Fic Recs
For many reasons, The Last Battle is probably the most contentious addition to the Narnia canon. The standout, though, has to be the infamous Problem of Susan, wherein the Pevensie children are all killed in a train crash and brought to Narnia 2 Electric Boogaloo aka heaven, then declare that Susan is no longer a friend of Narnia because of her interest in “lipsticks and nylons”. Hardly any time is spent on this, but the implications have been the ground for a lot of argument and discussion. What exactly would happen to Susan, and should it have happened? Over the years, dozens of fic writers have thrown their hats in the ring and weighed in on the subject, making the Problem of Susan almost a prism for the fandom: everyone shines through it a bit differently, resulting in a wide spectrum. Here’s some of the highlights under the cut.
http://shedletsky.com/blog/the-god-who-loves-you
Starting with the fic that coined the term, written by Neil Gaiman himself, this fic is a reflection and deconstruction of the idea that Susan would be able to find Narnia again by delving into the trauma that the experience of losing all her family at once as well as the social injustices that a young woman of her time would’ve faced, something that the narrative of The Last Battle never really addresses. It took off for a reason, as it presents a lot of good food for thought, but it’s also got some pretty weird shit that can feel like it’s conflating adulthood with edginess. Well worth a read for all the points it raises, but if you’re fond of canon you probably won’t like the way it takes a hammer to it.
Now this one is exactly what you’d want to read if you wanted some feel-good time. This story is probably the closest to how C S Lewis would’ve written Susan’s return to Narnia, detailing her rediscovering all the things she put away as well as what led up to her rejecting Narnia in the first place. It falls more to the end of being almost uncritical of canon, with the focus on Susan basically having the same sort of religious rediscovery that C S Lewis himself had in his life. Because of how she was treated in canon, that can be pretty frustrating, but the ending feels nothing short of joyous.
Swinging back to the other end of the spectrum, this fic is very critical of the idea of The Last Battle being a pretty happy ending for everyone, unambiguously stating that life is always worth living for all the Pevensie kids. It explores what their lives could’ve been like if they didn’t die, being a rebuttal of C S Lewis’ themes rather than a continuation of them while feeling equally as happy as the fic directly above.
And this story feels like a midway point between the above two. It dives really deep into the emotional damage that Susan would’ve suffered before and after the train crash in some absolutely gorgeous prose, showing both her and Aslan with great sympathy while maintaining that what happened to her is not a punishment in any way. Bittersweet and very, very good.
Heading back towards the more critical end of the spectrum, this fic presents a Susan who is not interested in finding Narnia again, only her family. She is very much a character straight out of an ancient myth rather than a teen trying to make sense of a senseless situation here, filled with determination as much as desperation. It’s probably the closest fic on here to having something close to a plot as well as a character study, with the exception of The Queen’s Return and one other:
Being a crossover with what’s pretty much the antithesis of the Chronicles of Narnia, His Dark Materials, it’s probably easy for you to guess which side of the spectrum this story falls on. It’s more of a HDM story than a Narnia one, but the two worlds blend together surprisingly well, and it gives us a rare look into a Susan who’s lived decades of her life when the story picks up. She’s pretty much the Professor and it is fascinating, as is everything left to interpretation by this gem of a fic that is ambiguous yet deeply satisfying.
¡And here’s Susan as a Doctor Who companion! This isn’t directly a Narnia story so much as it is one about two people much older than they look mourning the loss of their worlds, with a Susan who is a queen wise beyond her years. Reading it is like taking an ice shower. It doesn’t hold back on the grief, and as a result it manages to feel honest as it reaches a warm ending.
http://archiveofourown.org/works/24311
Despite also being a crossover, this is in some ways the opposite of touch the sky with two arms. Susan is more of an everyday young woman than a queen, and [SLIGHT SPOILERS] Narnia itself does feature directly. But y’know, that’s part of what makes fandom so interesting. Not everyone is going to have the same take on everything, and the ending of this leans more happy than melancholy.
¿A shipping fic that’s also a crossover with Peter Pan that features neither Neverland or Narnia? Yes, this one probably has the least to do with Narnia or Aslan, but it tells a very compelling story about living life and growing up, something that isn’t perfect but can be good if you find someone you want to spend your life with. Susan Pevensie and Wendy Darling are a really good couple, pinky promise.
Technically more a series of ensemble oneshots, but Susan features very prominently in a lot of them, and they will make you feel every feeling that everything else on this list might’ve given you. Satisfaction, devastation, simple joy, just go give it a shot.

𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗔 :- You feel everything is a constant battle at the moment, but persevere and you will triumph in the end. Expect some good news that will help you to keep going until you achieve your goals. This is a time of movement and change and of conflicts ending in victory. You may well consider a journey that relates to work or go for that new car you've been looking at.
𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗕 :- You are feeling that things will go your way. You believe in fairness and justice in all things. If you are considering partnership issues, personal or professional, dealings will go well. Perhaps you are about to sign a contract or legal document - this will be beneficial to you. If someone has done wrong to you it will be put right and you will feel justice has been done.
(:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅)
Tumblr media
𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗔 :- I'm getting that what you most want at this time is to know what to do, as well as companionship or a lover if you feel somewhat lonely or isolated at the moment. Perhaps you are feeling exhausted and in need of a rest - if you have been ill this is a time for rest and recuperation.
𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗕 :- I'm getting that what you most want at this time is to have it all! Why should you have to give something or someone up? Perhaps you feel a victim and that events are not going as planned. Trust that this is a passage from one phase of your life to another. If you are not sure what or who you need to give up, trust that things will resolve themselves over time and whatever the outcome it will ultimately be to your benefit.
(:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅)
Tumblr media
𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗔 :- You are afraid that it's out of control. You simply cannot resist this passionate attraction. Despite the fact it's addictive and unlikely to be right, you just can't stop yourself. Whatever it is, a passion for someone who's not good for you, money deals that are too good to be true or any other kind of temptation, try to resist, as it is unlikely to have a positive outcome. If you're feeling low in self-belief and self-worth and doubt your abilities - don't! Have confidence in yourself - it's not too late to change direction.
𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗕 :- Are you really your best counsel? Probably not at this moment in time. You are worried that you will sell yourself short and agree to something that you don't feel morally comfortable with. For example you may really desire marriage but the offer has been 'let's live together'. You may be looking at a job or business opportunity but you question how ethical it is. Seek out an advisor you can trust such as a teacher, priest, parent or anyone you have respect for. They will be happy to help.
(:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅)
Tumblr media
𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗔 :- You are about to enter a period of peace and harmony in your relationship, career or life in general. You will find a way of handling difficult circumstances with calm confidence. Life is flowing at this time - enjoy it.
𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗕 :- The Sun is shining on you - it's your time for success, joy and happiness. You will feel confident and full of vitality. It's a time to celebrate with friends and loved ones, perhaps enjoy a well-earned holiday, a time of pleasure and good news around children or the conception or birth of a longed-for baby. If you are not feeling this way take heart, you will enter this period soon.
(:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅)
Tumblr media
𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗔 :- A run of bad luck here, perhaps already evident or there are certainly signs that things are not going your way. The responsibility of important decisions weighs heavy with you where there are choices to make. Trust your intuition, and even if you have to make the painful decision to give up something in order to move on, then have the courage to do it. Trust that The Wheel of Fortune constantly turns and whilst it may be against you at the moment, it will in time turn and bring you good fortune.
𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗕 :- However hard you try to control events they just won't go your way. Unexpected challenges, upheaval and disappointment will bring expectations to an end. Subconsciously you may have wanted a solution - you just didn't expect it to happen this way. Use this period of change as an opportunity for a new beginning. If you have been planning to move home you will be experiencing setbacks.
(:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅)
Tumblr media
𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗔 :- Success, fulfillment and conclusion are near at hand - the successful outcome to a venture, satisfaction in a relationship and efforts rewarded. It is a culmination of events and indicates material wealth and greater spiritual awareness. You may decide to purchase your dream house, act upon a wonderfully-fulfilling relationship offer or embark on a self-actualization journey.
𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗕 :- Expect success and achievement of your goals: this is a time for fulfillment of your ambitions. If you have placed your trust in your father, husband/partner or another man of significance in your life, they will come up trumps for you. If you have been the victim of ill-will, don't worry, you will win in the end.

You Can Find Me in the Space Between
Tumblr media
Peter was the Sun, as magnificent as the title he had been given for so many centuries. His entire being was sculpted by the most radiant and divine light any mortal had ever witnessed. His hair was golden and perfectly decorated his head like a laurel crown. Anyone who dared to look deep into his eyes would find the clear blue vastness of the skies and feel their soul floating towards infinity. Whenever he got up in the morning, flowers would bloom to bid him good morning and even the strongest and most imposing oaks would bow before his presence. His smile brought warmth and life to any room and his heart overflowed with the deepest, all-consuming love for even the smallest creatures.
Caspian was the Moon, living his entire life in darkness, with only the stars to keep him company and encourage him to dream. His long black hair fell over his face like a veil of night and mystery, hiding the mesmerizing shadows that danced around his eyes. His magical fingers drew constellations in the sky and everything he touched became bathed in silver. He had an adventurous and free spirit, fearless enough to tame the stormiest oceans and lead lost navigators toward their destiny.
Both kings could not be more different. But at the same time, they needed each other desperately, as if there was an invisible chain that connected them. Only Peter was able to control Caspian's swinging moods, understanding his different phases and finding something new and charming in each of them. It was because of the blond boy that the young Telmarine was able to guide the desperate and defenseless through the dark times that were approaching. It was Peter who made Caspian shine, his light reflecting on Caspian's skin that made the other boy feel so beautiful, unique and special.
Caspian, on the other hand, was the only one who could calm the dragon that was Peter's wild soul, preventing the fire that was breathed through his veins from swallowing him alive when the burdens of the world became too heavy to be carried entirely on his shoulders, in torturous silence. Caspian only wished he could take all that weight to himself, or at least ask to the High King to let him carry part of it, just so the other boy could find some space to breath again, even if only for a while. They were each other's hope when they both felt uncertain, scared and alone.
However, just like the Sun and the Moon, they were destined to be torn apart as quickly as they met, for they did not belong to the same world. So close... and yet so far away. In the end, all they could do was say goodbye and keep the silent promise that the two would always love each other, waiting with patient hearts for the day of the next eclipse, when they would finally share the same sky again.

"I have heard of such things"
“Please, your Majesty, I came in through a wardrobe.” “A wardrobe? What do you mean?” “I—I opened a door and just found myself here, your Majesty,” said Edmund. “Ha!” said the Queen, speaking more to herself than to him. “A door. A door from the world of men! I have heard of such things."
Thinking about this line from LWW (chapter 4). Jadis reacts to hearing Edmund came from another world by musing about rumors, even though she's from another world herself, and has in fact been to London (albeit briefly). Obviously the reason is because C. S. Lewis wrote LWW before MN and didn't care about super tight continuity, but that's no fun, so here are some in-universe possibilities:
it's been centuries since Jadis came to Narnia, and she's the type who ignores anything that isn't useful to her (e.g. ignoring Polly because Digory was the one that woke her, and then acting like neither child exists once they've brought her to Uncle Andrew). Charn is dead and she can't get back to Earth so she just…didn't bother to think about them ever again. By the time of LWW she can barely remember other worlds exist
Jadis barely knows other worlds exist, not because she didn't bother to remember, but because of some magical/physical reaction. Jadis has no memory of the Wood Between the Worlds once she's out of it, even though Polly and Digory do. Maybe Charnians just react that way to interdimensional travel, or maybe it's something specific to Jadis herself due to magic she's done. But whyever, Jadis forgets any world but the one she's in. The Wood fades almost instantly because she was there so briefly and has no personal connection to it. Earth would last a little longer, and Charn longer still, long enough that she can remember them during the end of MN. But by the time of LWW, she doesn't remember how she came to Narnia.
or she doesn't remember due to eating the silver apple? immortality comes with a price, and for better or worse Jadis is now bound to Narnia; she cannot go back
Telmar was founded by humans who stumbled through from Earth, and perhaps other places were as well (we don't know the histories of Galma etc). Or maybe solitary travelers find their way in sometimes, not enough to found nations or influence history but enough to leave rumors, rumors that Jadis is listening for very carefully because she knows four humans are prophesized to destroy her
Jadis doesn't mean a door as in "portal to another world" but door as in "hole in the magical barrier I've put up around Narnia", and thinks Edmund slipped in from another country. This would mean she doesn't understand the word "wardrobe" though. Then again Mr. Tumnus didn't know it either, so maybe they just don't have wardrobes in Narnia. (There's no absolutely no evidence in the books that Jadis made a barrier around Narnia, but there must be some sort of outer limit to her powers, or Archenland, Calormen, etc would also have been under her control, and they don't seem to have been. She was "Queen of Narnia", not "Queen of the World", and the countries mentioned in HHB all seem to be running normally without the sort of chaos caused by setting up governments again after a dictator's death. I can imagine Jadis making a magical line around Narnia's borders (with plans to expand, ofc) so her magic has a set space to focus on; maybe she can even sense when someone crosses it, which is why Edmund's arrival surprised her—he didn't trip any alarms.)
my favorite: Narnia herself is doing her best to fight Jadis. While the Pevensies are ruling Narnia, their lives on Earth become like a dream, and there are hints the reverse happens when they go back. But when they return to Narnia, "the air of Narnia [works] on" them to make them who Narnia needs them to be: the Kings and Queens of Old. Maybe it's working on Jadis, as best it can. It smoothes away her memories of other worlds, making her content to stay here, like it did the Pevensies. But for the Pevensies, it was a way to ease the pain of suddenly losing their old lives, whereas for Jadis, it's trying to keep her complacent. Because if she remembers there are other worlds, she'll try to find doors to them, and conquer kingdoms, and find more magic, and raise armies, and be that much harder to free Narnia from. Narnia is in pain and fighting Jadis the only way it can till Aslan and the Pevensies come to save it

when i think about aslan telling lucy and edmund to search him out by another name in their world, i can't help but imagine that after the crash, he would appear to susan in different forms to help her work through the unimaginable.
maybe he was the substitute for the english professor who insists she take leave for a few days, if not weeks, because he can't concentrate on reading the tragedy in his hands when it's staring straight at him in the face.
maybe he was the cab driver, who, for a split second, actually sees his daughter sobbing her heart out with an empty wallet, and gently tells the drunk girl to not worry about not having enough to get back to her place.
maybe he was the next door widower in the apartment, who has begun to cook for two recently despite vowing that he would shut himself away from the horrible, outside world, so she can take some more time to let it out, like he once had, than to plan what's for dinner.
maybe, for susan, aslan lives in the compassion of the everyday people, changing appearances, coming and going. it's not what she expected at first, but when she sees his virtues in them and acknowledges the small yet prominent godliness of these people on her deathbed years later, she finally comes home.

A little play
A modern AU Edmund x reader fic about academic rivals for @needsmth's request
First year of uni, and you already found a rival. Yay!
At first, you couldn't complain about sharing most of your classes together, since he was intelligent and cute, but when he started getting all the answers before you (and of course, he called them right), he became unbearable.
Sociology? He got it. Psychology? Easy-peasy. Economy? Wait, how come he had previous knowledge of this one? And let's not get into Philosophy, the subject you were looking forward to the most during that last year of high school.
And he was beating you on that one, too. He was so quick to answer, so quick to understand, and that when he didn't guess what the teachers would say next.
Now, he was not over-confident or smug. Even you could see that. But just that happy little smile he had on his pretty face after he won a teacher's approval was so, so annoying, sometimes you just could not resist the urge to find something to shout right after him -- a counter-argument or whatever. Whatever.
Yeah, you were not proud of that little scene you may or may not have displayed yesterday. The worst thing was his concerned look as if you were a little mad girl with no self-control. His dark eyes were tender, looking down at you. You felt sorry for him that time -- he had nothing against you. So you decided that today you were going to apologize to him.
Such decision had been made with no consideration of the long class hours that were to pass before lunch. There he was again, the smart boy. What was his name again? Oh, Edmund. Edmund and his dark wavy hair, his rosy lips uttering every right answer... You had to look down.
Coward, you told yourself. Apologize as you should, little brat, and grow up for once. No more high school drama. You graduated with honours, and you were now decided to make the best out of your college years.
The arrival of lunch was both a relief and a burden for the feeling of anticipation that surged in your chest. You walked out of the classroom, through the hallway, preparing a speech. When you entered the cafeteria, you scanned around the room. You spotted the cute boy waiting at the last of the queue, one hand in his trousers pocket. He stood straight, with almost a regal posture, and looked ahead with patience. How could he be so perfect?
You approached him, steadying your breath. Apologizing was never easy. He noticed you were walking towards him, so turned his head with curiosity.
'Hey,' he said. Low voice, soft.
'Hi,' you said. 'About yesterday...'
'Oh...' He remembered.
'Yeah, I'm sorry.' You twisted your fingers in awkwardness. 'I don't know what came unto me, I didn't mean to shout at you.'
'It's OK,' he said.
You stood there, next to him, fingers twisted. The queue was advancing, and you also needed to have lunch. Better not to wait awkwardly that long distance to the counter.
'So...,' you said, 'Edmund, right?'
'Yeah. And yours is...'
'__.'
He nodded. 'Seems we have every class together.'
'Oh, yeah. For better or for worse, you won't get rid of me so easily.'
'Pff,' he looked away, nothing to add. Then, something occurred to you.
'I guess I'll stand to a challenge,' you said, shrugging. He looked at you. 'I won't let you call all answers out so easily.'
'Well, it won't hurt a little play.' He lifted an eyebrow.
'A little play?' You mocked offence. 'Sir, I'll make you play in hard mode.'
He scoffed. 'I'm all in.'
---
Well, it is done! Hope this is what you expected, and that you like it ♡ As I previously said, my hyper-fixation on Narnia is sort of fading away, so I am unsure of what to work on next for this blog. (I knew this would happen, but I also thought I would have new fandoms to write for...)
Either way, requests are still open! No, I am not turning down your Narnia requests, so feel free to send them if you have any! But if you just want to reach out to me with other ideas, I would really appreciate it!
Oh, I'd also like to ask you, if you like this, please reblog <3 Reblogging is ten thousand times better than just liking for the Tumblr algorithm, so if you appreciate my writing...👉👈
