An emotional first reaction to Arcane's finale
With an accent on Silco's arc...
*Wipes tears away*
Anyway. When was the last time you sat down to a tv show that punched this hard and respected its villain this deeply? Silco is by far the most interesting character, and he carries the show on his scrawny shoulders.
Compelling if mysterious backstory, overcomes his demons and his traitorous brother in one fell swoop as he gains power. Silco's a zealot who dreams big for everyone. And yet in the end he finally understands why Vander did what he did. Finally has an emotional tie on a personal level that means more to him than the Nation Of Zaun, that big all consuming project that's been driving him from the start.
And yet in a completely masterful twist, Vander chosing his daughters over Zaun means the Status Quo, while Silco choosing his daughter over Zaun means War.
He gets everything he ever wanted. He's a villain who uses all ends to reach his goals and actually gets there, and the creative minds behind Arcane had the guts to make it absolutely irrelevant to his death. That is so wild, honestly. His love is his personal downfall (or more likely, the lack of mental health care in the Lanes is his downfall...) but he's never more human and more like Vander than when he dies...
For the creators to chose to NEVER redeem him, and instead just... humanize him to the very end... To let him say his piece and clear out misunderstandings and also to go knowing all his *fucked up* efforts fucking paid off...
*Silco style slow clap*
Fucking bravo.
Tumblr media
Turns out Silco wasn't lying, not anymore than any of us do from time to time, even to our loved ones. Turns out that he was really worrying, really caring, and that it was really "just the two of them".
There's plenty wrong with Jinx's arc as a villain in the becoming, the whole "hearing voices makes me unhinged and violent" really isn't palatable.. it's an easy cop-out that puts people with IRL mental illnesses in another toxic limelight.
But there's incredible beauty in her being truly embraced by the villain, for the most wholesome family to really be with him. To be fought for as hard by him, as much as Vander did. Vi doesn't want Jinx. She truly wants "Powder", and even if she probably loves her and probably needs the mental help Vi would desire for her "to change" and "become stable", Jinx's toxic, zealot, asshole second dad loves her exactly as she is. Why the fuck would you not chose that side, being in Jinx's boots?
*chokes up for a minute*
Tumblr media
I can't clap my hands hard enough to applaud the team behind Arcane (so I'll use them to write fanfic instead)
How did they manage to break the curse of video game adaptation?
Well, I think it helps that the studio itself retained absolute creative control. For once it's not a film industry giant buying rights and trying to do it's usual "adaptation" cash grab wringer. It's a studio getting another studio to work their (insane) magic and produce the best 9 episodes cinematic we've ever seen.
The vision was theirs, the story was uncompromising and unflinching.
I am not surprised the writing punches this hard. Video game writers know what the fuck they're doing, because they create immersive worlds and storyline in which the players/viewer is directly active. I mean look at other hard gut punches out there like God of War, Wticher 3 or even Jackie's arc in Cyberpunk.
But for them to stick to their guns to the very end... To give us characters this compelling instead of following the cliche route... For them not to betray us, the way so many other storylines do by trying something bold for a hot minute before falling back on tried and true cliches like deflating souflés...
Guys, I'm sorry but even Disney doesn't clap this hard. Arcane came on to the scene and swatted everyone aside. The visuals, the animation style, the music, the cast of character all painted in deep shades of grey, the riveting plot with its series of mirrored pairs going through the same divisive process... Arcane is the show we've all been begging for, but we were asking for it to the wrong people.
Bravo team. None of y'all will ever see this post, but know you're appreciated. You made me scream and choke up and built a whole new condominium in my skull for Silco to live in rent free. Fuck you and bless you, I love you guys.

Girl here's somethings for you - Bravo is chaotic, we know Metal LOVES reading and sleeping, he always has a book or is napping, unless hes crushing skulls. He's emotionless and soulless looking, Bravo is a little confused when he shows up to the deployment barbecue with his girlfriend, hes all smiles, she seems quiet and shy, looks like she could break in half if the wind changes directions, Bravo questions the reader over her sanity (bonus turns out shes a bounty hunter, and was a homicide detective but got bored with that job.)
LOL Thanks for this. Got the creative juices flowing IMMEDIATELY.

Tag List: @rebelwrites @bravo-four-seal-team @heathermann200
Shoot me a message if you wanna be added to my tag list.
The sun’s shining, music is blasting, and the beers are flowing. It’s the traditional pre-deployment BBQ at Blackburn’s. Sonny’s grilling at the pit BBQ up the hill, Brock’s tossing a ball to Cerberus; Ray, Trent, Lisa, and Clay are playing a game of corn hole, Blackburn and Jason are sitting near the coolers, beers in hands as they discuss the upcoming Stanley Cup Finals.
The team is all assembled, all except for Full Metal.
“Dude, is Metal coming? Or is he too cool for tradition?” Clay asked the group as a whole.
“Dude is too cool for a lot of things,” Jason grinned.
“He’ll be here,” Trent nodded. “He was waiting for someone.”
“What do you mean, ‘he was waiting for someone’?” Clay asked. “Like he’s seeing someone?” he clarified.
There was a rumble of laughter from the group. “Like Metal could put up with a woman for longer than a night?”
“Does he even have emotions?” Sonny asked from up the hill.
Brock’s eyes got wide, “He’s like emotionless and soulless looking. What do you think the girl is like?”
“Do we know it’s a girl?” Ray asked, looking to Trent.
Trent shrugged, “He said, he was seeing someone a while back. I didn’t ask much more. I texted him a bit ago to see if he was coming. He said he was waiting for Y/N name to get off work.”
Chaos erupted around the backyard, as Bravo all start talking at once. All asking Trent a million questions about Metal’s personal life.
~*~
Bravo was chaos, as usual when Scott pulled up to Blackburn’s his pickup truck. Even from the street, you could see them all yelling and shouting over one another. Your hands were wrapped tight around his arm, and he chuckled when they clenched his bicep a little tighter.
He knew you were nervous about meeting the team for the first time. He talked them up for the last couple months you’d been together. They’d become this larger-than-life entity, that was super important to Scott. Even in their dysfunctional, out of sorts, family dynamic that Scott liked to laugh about in private.
He claimed that he loved riling them up, in subtle ways, so they’d erupt into chaos trying to figure out who had done what and why. You had rolled your eyes at him when he said he pretended to be soulless and emotionless killer. “Cause you aren’t?” you shot back at him.
His smirk was deadly.
Scott looked over at the chaos that was Bravo when he shut the truck off. You got out of the truck and fixed your clothes. A simple sun dress of red and yellow flowers that played nicely with your tan. You had braided your hair back to combat the heat of the day and wrapped a strip of a Bravo Team bandana around the end.
You pulled the end of the braid over your shoulder and played with end of your hair.
Scott looked down at you after walked around the truck to meet you. He took the end of your hair out of your hands and holds your hand, while smiling reassuringly. “No need to be nervous. They’re just a bunch of overgrown puppies. Besides, they’re afraid of me, one look from me and they’ll shut up.”
You laugh and glance over at the group who have notice your appearance and are now watching you two. “Ah shit,” you murmur.
Scott’s hearty laugh puts a shy smile on your face, and you follow him toward the group, gripping his hand tightly.
~*~
“Dude, she’s tiny,” Clay murmurs as they notice Metal pull up with a chick in his pickup truck.
She’s wearing a sundress covered in red and yellow flowers and looks wholesome and pure.
“She looks like she could break in half if the wind changes,” Sonny says in awe.
“She’s like a foot shorter than him,” Jason chuckles.
“Guys,” Lisa admonishes, successfully scolding them with a look.
Blackburn chuckles and breaks away from the group, doing his duties a host, and greets Metal and his girl. “Welcome to the party,” he grins, “glad you could make it, Metal.”
Metal’s grin has Bravo on edge. “Eric, thanks for having us. This is my girlfriend, Y/N,” he introduces.
~*~
You’re eventually introduced to everyone there, all of Bravo and their families and support staff. There’s a lot of names, and you are positive you forgot half of them already, but Scott’s never too far from you and his easy smiles when he glances at you, are reassuring.
You can feel the intrigue in the air. Bravo is in chaos and you’re the cause, they’ve even started questioning your sanity for dating Scott. “I mean, he’s a stone-cold killer,” Sonny tries to reason with you at one point in the night.
You grin and say, “And you don’t kill in your profession?”
Sonny immediately went on the defense. “But like, he enjoys it.”
“Are you sure about that?” you counter.
Sonny is left gaping when Scott comes up behind you and wraps an arm around your waist. You look over your shoulder at him to see him looking down at you with a sweet smile on his face. “Are you causing trouble over here?” he asks.
“Nah, wouldn’t dream of it,” you answer and push up on your tippy toes to press a kiss to his lips.
He meets you halfway and presses a quick kiss to your lips with a smile. Poor Sonny is still gaping as he watches the two of you. Scott chuckles as he turns to him. “You all right there, Quinn?” Scott asks him.
“Yeah,” Sonny mutters and walks away.
You turn and grin up at your man. “Stop fuckin with everyone,” you say as he wraps his arms around your waist.
“Can’t help it, it’s too easy.”
~*~
“Dude, I don’t get it,” Clay murmurs as he watches Metal with his girl.
“I know,” Jason chuckles, “He seems so… not Full Metal.”
“He seems happy,” Ray says.
“He said he really likes this one,” Trent explains.
“Huh,” Sonny grunts, watching Scott and Y/N make eyes at each other over by the food table.
“She seems so quiet and shy,” Blackburn adds.
“I tried to ask her if she knew what she was getting herself into with someone like Metal,” Clay admits.
“You didn’t,” Lisa groans.
“She seemed confused. Said ‘Scott was a perfect gentleman,’,” Clay answered.
“A perfect gentleman?” Ray asks, turning to Clay.
Clay shrugged.
“I tried to tell her that he was a stone-cold killer,” Sonny admits.
“The fuck?” Lisa smacks him.
“I tried to tell her about why they call him ‘Full Metal’,” Jason admits.
The guys groan and shake their heads. “What’d she say to that?” Lisa asks, finally on board.
“Metal walked up before I could start. He had this goofy grin on his face and started kissing her. I had to walk away,” Jason admits.
The guys chuckle.
“I did mention to her that he had a bit of a reputation around base,” Lisa finally admits.
~*~
You laugh as you lift the neck of the beer bottle to your lips. You take a sip and smirk at Scott. “Your team is in an uproar tonight,” you tell him as you survey the patio.
His laugh is rich and full as he pulls you against his side. “They’re in chaos tonight. It’s hysterical.”
“You always have to fuck with everyone,” you shake your head.
~*~
As the night winds down to an end, Sonny can’t take the suspense anymore. Metal and Y/N are getting ready to leave and he stops them as they’re gathering their food. “Okay, I gotta know,” he starts.
Metal turns and levels Sonny with dead look, but Y/N’s sweet smile has Sonny turning to her instead. “What’s up Sonny?” Y/N asks.
“I gotta know, how’d the two of you meet?” Sonny asks.
Y/N grins and shrugs a shoulder. “I’m a homicide detective with Virginia Beach PD. Scott was a… person of interest, in a case I worked last year. He ran, I chased him down and slammed him on the hood of my car. He made a snappy comment, I made a snappy comment, and hauled him in for questioning. Turned out he wasn’t the guy we were looking for, and we had quite a bit in common, so I let him buy me dinner.”
Sonny’s mouth drops open in shock.
“You’re a homicide detective?” Clay questions in awe.
“Yeah, ten years now,” Y/N answers with a coy smile.
Metal grins down at his girl like she hung the moon and says, “She’s good with the handcuffs too.”
Y/N grins up at her man and grabs his hand before she turns back to Bravo as a whole. “Good night. It was nice meeting you all.”
They leave, and Bravo erupts into utter chaos.
“What do you mean she’s a homicide detective?” Sonny shouts.
“Metal was a person of interest?” Jason asks.
“How the hell did she slam him on the hood of her car?” Blackburn questions.
“She’s tiny!” Brock says in disbelief.
Trent laughs. “He was completely smitten by her.”
“Did you see the way he was smiling all night?” Lisa asked.
“Dude’s in love,” Ray added.
“What the fuck is happening?” Sonny shouts.

john cho’s talent and his screen magnetism truly saved “cowboy bebop” (the man can do no wrong, he is so good in everything he is in). also, mustafa shakir’s jet black - BRAVO! loooooooved spike & jet’s chemistry. actually the whole cast was a joy to watch and they did their best with what they were given. the show doesn’t deserve the heavy hate it’s getting. the only thing i feel this adaptation didn’t have is the original’s spirit of melancholy and regret.
unpopular opinion: radical ed is a kind of character that works in cartoon form, but doesn’t work well in live action. they shouldn’t have included ed in the adaptation. that being said, kudos to the young actor playing ed 😬
i hope there is a 2nd season of 'cowboy bebop' but with original creative team instead. *fingers crossed*
and yes my friends, there is whump and it’s 😋 *time to get to work makin’ them gifs hehehe*

Prodigal Son Appreciation Week
Day 3: Favorite Episode
1x13 Wait & Hope
Episode Summary:
Malcolm takes a detour from his mandated vacation time when a killer mimics homicides from one his favorite children's books, "The Count of Monte Cristo"; the NYPD traces the case back to a high society family planning a big wedding.
This episode was fantastic for so many reasons. Here are the three main ones.
#1 The White Suit
Malcolm was supposed to be going on vacation but joins in on a last minute case. Showing up in the suit his mother bought him for his trip, (because he’s a good boy and of course wore the suit even though it looks ridiculous) the whole team proceeded to make jokes at his expense.
Did you kill James Bond yet?
Who invited their coke dealer?
Hello, Colonel. I love your chicken.
I loved that they kicked this episode off with a heavy dose of humor. It was so refreshing and made for such a great start. Also, gotta love smiley/laughing Malcolm. When my precious cinnamon roll is happy, I am freaking ecstatic!
Tumblr media
#2 The Action
After they warmed us up with some humor, the action kicked in with Malcolm’s laughter-inducing leap over the desk when he realized the body was lying on a bomb. Later on, this led to another much larger jump right out the window to avoid being blown to bits. Unfortunately for Gil, Malcolm landed on his car, causing a lot of damage but at least Malcolm was okay, though at the moment Gil was more concerned about the former, making us all have a good chuckle. Further into the episode, we come across another victim, this one alive and trapped by swords. One wrong move and the guy was minced meat. The team was concerned and unsure about what to do ,but Malcolm was ready to jump into action yet again, metaphorically this time.
Gil: We have to call someone. Malcolm: Who are we going to call? The department of fallen sword death? That's us!  Besides, I'm a two-time silver medal ax thrower. Gil: silver medal.
It was one of my favorite scenes of the episode. The sword trap was so creative and unique. I love when crime shows use crap like that. It is so much fun and exciting.
Tumblr media
#3 The Brightwell Moments
Throughout this episode, we saw several Brightwell moments that gave us so many feels. First, when Malcolm was holding the explosive device in place at the initial crime scene, he nearly revealed his feelings for Dani to Dani (and the rest of the team), however, he cut himself off at the last second. Dani, of course, was completely confused and tried to pull out the truth later on. Unfortunately, Malcolm gave some stupid excuse instead, saying it was something about the profile, but we all know it wasn’t. Regardless, this was the first obvious indicator of Malcolm having real romantic feelings for Dani, and I ate it right up along with the rest of the Brightwell fandom. As a bonus, we also got to see Malcolm and Dani go undercover together at a wedding, which led to another one of my favorite scenes where Malcolm took Dani shopping and was completely wowed at her in the red dress. What I really loved about this moment was not just that Malcolm was blown away by her appearance but that he was blown away while she still looked mostly natural and normal. She still wore little make-up and her hair in its natural curls. Dani didn’t need to be completely dolled up for Malcolm to realize how beautiful she is. He always knew. He just got an unexpected reminder.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All in all, this episode was super well-done, ten out of ten. It had the humor, the action/drama, and major Brightwell feels all in spades. I couldn’t ask for anything more out of an episode of Prodigal Son. I really couldn’t. Bravo to the writers, cast, and crew. Ya done good!

Resident Evil Films
Right, so we all know that the Resident Evil film franchise is utter fucking chaos. The storyline changes every film, half of the characters are absolutely jacked while the other half shouldn't have lasted the first hour of infection (Not counting the first film, since there's only one civilian in that movie), and Alice somehow always knows exactly what to do.
For instance, I'm re-watching the series right now, I'm on the second film and I'm just pointing out everything wrong. I guess that's why I'm writing this.
Resident Evil: Apocalypse.
Introducing us to these characters is so boring. The only creative one is Terri's introduction, and the reason we know who she is from the get go is that she's sown on the news while we're being introduced to Jill. Obviously Jill already knows about these infected beasts, but how does that come into the story? How does that work? She wasn't at the mansion from the first film. That's where the infection started. Plot hole. They just took Jill's original character from the game and threw her into the mix. We didn't even know Peyton - the guard from the gate - was a S.T.A.R.S operative till he's killed.
Also, I wanna know why LJ was arrested in the first place.
Anyway, somehow the disgraced S.T.A.R.S officer Jill Valentine is grouped with an infected S.T.A.R.S officer and the reporter that covered her story.
They get to a church. Classic zombie horror trope.
Surprise, there's a crazy priest feeding people to his zombified 'sister'
And now there's not one, not two, but three Bio-weapons in the church where our characters reside. Three lickers (That's their canon name for some reason, it's not my choice) and nowhere to go, what do they do? They'll die, obviously. Unless-
Huzzah! someone come to save them.
It's Alice, of course.
She literally found exactly where they were? the only competent people in the city? Unlikely.
Alice literally bursts through a window on a motorbike, and takes down three lickers and she hasn't even got her powers yet. This woman singlehandedly kicks a church pew across the floor. Do you know how fucking heavy those bastards are?? One of that size would need 4 people to move it, and she just flicks it across the floor.
Also, you're telling me, this entire city goes tits up and not one single person looted a gun store?
In America??
All I'm saying is, it's highly unlikely that she'd stumble upon a perfectly maintained gun store while the resto of the city is in tatters.
Also 2: You're telling me that all 12 S.T.A.R.S operatives holed up together? Not counting Jill and Peyton. But both teams, Alpha and Bravo we're together? And they didn't take in a single civilian until LJ? Not likely, since they're "The best of the best", that they're literally the city's pride and joy? Not likely at all.
Then Peyton is gunned down by Nemi, but the rest of them got away. Highly unlikely. They recruit ANOTHER civilian, and go to get Angie, who calmly watches as Terri is devoured, Jill finds her, they meet Nikolai, who is tackled by a devil dog mid introduction, and killed off almost immediately, then the whole kitchen scene happens and it just hurts my brain.
That is in no way how a gas oven works. Turning two ovens up to full would not create enough gas to fill a room, let alone blow it up.
Then Angie turns out to be infected, but the virus wont kill her, it just makes her legs work again? Bull to the shit.
I swear that Carlos is the only person to get the anti-virus and actually survive, even if it is just for one more film.
God I love LJ though. Great character, brings the right type of comedy to the film.
Woow he killed the doctor, didn't see that coming.
The Nemi/Alice fight is also unrealistic. And I know this is a zombie film. Nemi would've snapped her spine like a twig, lets be honest.
Bla bla bla, they fight. Nemi remembers he was Matt. Alice realises that too. Nemi kills bad guys.
Cain (Main bad guy who's accent is a mix of German, French and English somehow) hides in the helicopter, and rages at the pilot, who isn't the pilot and is actually LJ, and they create the best part of this entire movie.
Cain: Why haven't we taken off?!
LJ: Cause I usually drive a Cadillac. :D
Then Alice evades a whole ass other Helicopter machine gun, and takes out three guards, and is saved once again by Nemesis, who is literally crushed by the tame helicopter he blew up for Alice. Talk about unfortunate.
Alice is hit by debris, and instead of picking her up and carrying her to the helicopter, they crowd round her and wait for her to wake up.
Then they throw Cain out the back, where he breaks his ankle as seemingly every zombie in the vicinity approaches, and he somehow uses every bullet he has on them and when he goes to, you know, paint the tiles with his head, he has none left.
AAAnd just when you think it's all over, when the nuke hits, the turbulence from the explosion causes some random piece of metal to fly at Angie, and of course, Alice is the shield. She dies, the plane goes down, and somehow the rest of the group survived.
Oh wow, more scientists, Alice is in a test cube thing, fully healed, and she has powers? Wow. How the fuck has her hair got longer? Nobody knows.
Dr. Isaacs being condescending, creepy, and very punchable rn.
Wow Alice downs them all except Isaacs.
Where the fuck is everyone?
First proper show of powers. Alice's creepy stare at a camera kills the guard on duty.
Oh, there's the rest of the workers.
And somehow they get away with this. Isaacs shit his pants so hard that he actually let them go.
oOOooOoh 'Project Alice', cool. Well thought of. Advanced. Great name.
And it ends.
God I love these films but they hurt my logical ADHD brain so goddamn much.
I think I'm just gonna keep doing shitposts about films and that. Let people know what I think. They can skip the post if they want.

Another Duane interview transcript, coming at you! This one was from a smaller Carmen Sandiego chatroom. There were several interviewers, so that’s why the name of the question asker changes. Get the details below the break! Stay tuned, more interview transcripts coming soon.
Duane Capizzi:
HI EVERYONE! I'M IN!
Sorry I'm late, I got lost on the way haha. Then got lost trying to change my PFP
Thanks for gathering! Shall we get started? Let's do some Q&A!
(as long as they are not geography questions haha)
Fuel:
What characters or plot points were cut from the final product?
Duane Capizzi:
Ooo, starting with a right hook to the jaw!
Let me think about that for a moment: I'm hesitant to give too much away because I'm really hoping we can tell more stories in this world at some point
Which is to say, we tend not to waste anything: if we don't use it when we originally planned, we usually find a way to use something later - and there's usually a "karmic" reason that we waited.
I'll also preface by saying this: I know season 3 was more of a mini-drop and some felt season 4 was rushed. But I wish EVERY season were longer. Season 1: ideally, i wanted the Pilot to be its own event and 10 more episodes after that (but we had to tell the post-Pilot story in 7. At the end of the day, that had its benefits: we got to the Shadowsan turn earlier and I think that's when a lot of viewers realized the ride they were truly in for). Season 2: we initially figured we'd need 5 episodes to have Carmen doing the ACME dance with Chief, and wound up doing it in 3 - mostly because it quickly became clear that Rio needed to be a 2 parter, and the Zack and Ivy backstory a rough 2 parter. So we squeezed 3 episodes worth of plot into 209. It was exhilarating!
So, we had hoped to have more episodes for Season 4 of course. We had a ton of ideas and had to compress things a bit. But honestly in many ways it was for the better. I know we all wanted to live in this world longer, but I think sometimes the flip side is true - when you have big ongoing storylines, it can get frustrating when some things drag out too long. But, we got all the "story" we wanted to tell in Season 4 - we just lost some "incident" if that makes sense. We would have taken longer to get there.
So, all that preface to answer the question: we wanted to do more musical numbers! We had a Bollywood dance sequence in a return to India caper with Paperstar. We wanted to do a famous Elvis suit theft in Las Vegas during an Elvis impersonator convention (Shadowsan's an early elvis guy; Brunt likes the Vegas "jumpsuit" era). We also wanted to do a thread where Gunnar gets captured by ACME so that Julia could interrogate him and he could play mind games with her a la Hannibal Lector and Clarice. CAVEAT TO ALL THIS: these were some ideas that were bouncing around, that may not have seen the light of day if we couldn't get them to work. But they were on our wish list.
re: "other stories" - I could live with these characters for another 32 episodes easily and there have of course been discussions. But alas, that is up to the powers that be. Let's keep fingers crossed - and keep the Carmen love alive online so that someone up there takes note
There is more of course, but those are some things that spring to mind.
Fuel:
Were there any scenes cut for time that were your favorite?
Duane Capizzi:
Not much springs to mind: our directors were amazing at getting everything in the scripts to fit naturally (and in fact, I was the one who was usually suggesting trims to let other things breathe, etc). We were limited to 22 minutes of episode time, NOT counting front and end credits so a little longer than the average show. We have a pretty good idea when the SCRIPT is too long, so the cutting usually happens at script stage before it gets to the board crew so that they don't waste efforts over-boarding material that won't be used.
We had hoped to build out Chase and Carmen teaming up for the first time, meeting at Carmen's hotel lobby etc for more scenes of them together; but had to reduce that to get that all to fit in the VERY packed episode 406. But again, tighter was fine considering. That's one area that leaps to mind. (note that when I say packed, I don't mean that in a bad way: we spend a lot of time pouring over details in editing to make sure everything gets its due).
If I think of anything, I'll circle back at a later point. But the simple answer is that scenes were usually trimmed or compressed at script rather than board or animatic. So nothing comes to mind. I know it's hard to believe, but "shorter is usually better."
except for my answers to fan questions of course
Fuel:
We saw that in s4 episode 6 that Julia's mother(?) is wearing a necklace remarkably similar to the one Julia wears all the time. Is this the same necklace and if so, why was it given to Julia?
Duane Capizzi:
Just when I thought I was detail oriented! Wow! You guys blow me away
I can't take credit for that: it was either the board artist or director who added that. They do slip things in! As I've said before, EVERYONE on the crew really brought their A-game and were as deep thinking and as passionate as I was/am about the show.
It's a nice detail and I would say your interpretation works!
It took me three or four reviews before noticing that the team had slipped in baby Carmen near the play set in Mom's front yard at the end of 408. When I caught it, I was like: bravo!
Fuel:
When they first met, Zack and Ivy said to Carmen that they were the only family they had, do you know what happened to the rest of Zack and Ivy's family?
Duane Capizzi:
I don't. At least, I don't yet until such a time that I might have the opportunity to explore that. It was important to their relationship with Carmen that they be orphans, so they had that common bond (aside from being "thieves who steal from bad guys" - even if it was only gonna be one time for Zack and Ivy).
I know there are writers out there who like to do entire bio's for characters up front but i'm not one of them. It could be a trap in many ways. I like to have a general idea but be open to the demands of the ongoing storyline. You discover things along the way - it's like you're taking a journey with the characters by writing them, and the longer you spend, the better you get to know them (that was not a prepared statement by the way - I just made that up but I'll have to use it again :). So in Z/I's case it wasn't important to the story or Carmen's relationship, we felt. Conversely, we STARTED with Shadowsan's family backstory with 203, but more important to me was that we use it as a platform to explain why he stays with Carmen and crew. He really has no home at that point, so it was relevant to the present ongoing story. Which is what made that especially powerful to me.
Also, there's always a push-pull between telling character back stories while balancing them with ongoing episodic plots. You have to service both. If you just tell back story, then you're writing a biography
Arden:
What was the biggest challenge when designing these characters, especially the pre-existing characters from the series in the 90's?
Duane Capizzi:
This is probably more of a question for Chromosphere, re: challenges. But from my standpoint overseeing that process, the first thing I'll say is that we weren't necessarily trying to be "true" to those characters since we reinvented nearly every one from the ground up. (with the exception of Carmen of course - her trademark red hat/coat weren't going anywhere! But mostly the update with Carmen was in the styling of her "outerwear"
ALTHOUGH: I will admit that I was pushing for Carmen to have shorter hair as Carmen. I thought it would be a cool update. Chromosphere were really passionate about giving her long full hair and I have to see that they were right. The short tomboy cut worked so well for Black Sheep anyway. We had a different hair style for each of her ages.
So about the reinventions: Gunnar is in spirit a similar character to the original (old colleague in Vile and an early mentor if I remember), but his presentation completely different. We weren't trying to be "in canon" with the original. The beauty of CSD is that every incarnation has been its own entity so that freed us to reimagine the characters. THE CLEANERS, for instance: gimme some Cleaner love! There were a pair of janitors from the original game named RICK AND NICK ICK. They were literally janitors, it was too silly for our purposes. But, it's one small step to make them "Cleaners" (in the sinister hit men sense) - and lo, our reinvention.
So to summarize the answer to your question, they weren't really challenges to me so much as FUN to creatively reinvent the original characters (many of which were from the game, so not really "characters" per se with dialogue and inner lives). Whenever we could, we tried to use character names from the originals and update their looks and personalities. Where we couldn't find an equivalent for what we needed, we created characters from whole cloth. For instance, it seemed a miss to do a heist show without a tunnel guy and a high rise climber guy. Hence, LC & ET, everyone's favorite taco truck vendors!
(yes, i've seen some short hair carmen fan art on Twitter - someone did a great one recently!)
Arden:
Are there plans to give us more of the characters in, say, novel/graphic novel form?
Duane Capizzi:
I know HMH has done a bunch and no doubt have more in works. There's currently a novelization of the Pilot with some additional material if anyone's interested. I consulted on the second one, Clue for Clue, because it falls in the timeline while Chase was still Interpol/pre-Acme so was tricky.
And depending on whether another series in this canon makes it to air, I may just approach them about writing one or two myself to get some "further adventures" our there. Anything is possible!
Arden:
If you could go back and change anything about the series, what would it be?
Duane Capizzi:
File under anecdote, but there was what I felt was an important expression on Gray that kept me awake at nights, from his graduation ceremony at Vile. When we revisited those flashbacks in the Gray arc in Season 4, I had them change his expression there (to be more evil less innocent). We had it corrected in 404 so was able to get permission to have Netflix "fix" the Pilot by adding that shot in. I am tenacious!
We really poured over everything, it's the series that I have virtually zero complaints with the end product to be honest. But the simple answer is: I would have gone back to 106 and "un-greek'd" Gray's nametag. It's sort of a rule for international that we scramble signage (which is weird for a show that takes place in many countries/languages, I know I know). It's mostly for localization/translation reasons. And I'm sure there are some countries where Gray's name might be spoken differently. But as a proper name, I think we could have made an exception and seen "Gray" on his name tag. See? Details! But that's about the worst of it
there's also like one small line from Chief in 208 where she indicates she knows Carmen is a good guy (something to that effect) which I felt was too absolute and would have tweaked the line to temper it a bit. It's tiny, but looking back it sort of bugs me and I kick myself for not catching it. But this is absolutely the series I wanted and couldn't be happier.
Carmen:
How did Carmen know she could trust Julia? As far as we know, she has not seen or heard Julia defending her, and in the Fashionista Caper, Julia even held up her gas gun to her, saying she was under arrest. Do you have any opinions on this? Was it just intuition?
Duane Capizzi:
I'm gonna go with intuition
Carmen was raised on an island with some hardened criminal types. I think she's a pretty good judge of character. Poor Julia, trying to be tough with Carmen didn't suit her.
But, great observation! I'd have to mentally step through everything to see if Carmen had any earlier indication but i think you're right there.
Yes, sometimes you just gotta follow your heart
Carmen:
Are there any characters that didn't actually interact that you think would get along well?
Duane Capizzi:
Amazing question! First, I'd have to think more about who DIDN'T meet - you're asking the hard questions haha. But "get along well" is very specific! Hmmm, care to volley anyone?
I'll also add that so many smaller moments get lost in the "binge" of it all, but I am surprised how few fans have noted the first meeting between Player and Julia. THAT was a good one IMO! Very sweet!
Before getting back to your question, I also want to add that we were originally going to find a way for Carmen to lose her earring in Stockholm so that Julia could pick it up and be communicating with Player. BUT, I cut it at treatment stage because I knew we didn't have room in that episode to service it. Circling back to questions 1 & 2, another case where it turned out better saved for later IMO (saving Player meeting Julia, not to mention the earring business in 402 with Ivy).
Oh of course, Julia and any of the other Vile members. It would have been Gunnar for my vote, as mentioned earlier. We probably would not have had Julia meet anyone else and mixed it up more. I like that Cleo sort of became J's personal nemesis.
YES, SONIA & XIFENG (and LUPE PELIGRO, if I can add). The intent was (and is, if we ever get to revisit) to see them again in Carmen's travels. We started to expand Carmen's world but when we finally learned the finite number of episodes we had to finish the story, we drilled back down into the essentials. Would love to see them some day!
I'm hesitant to share too many things I have in mind in this forum for hope that they will see the light of day one day. You know, "spoilers"
Julia:
Do you have any opinions on Zari? Just in general? Some thoughts on her backstory would be nice if possible
Duane Capizzi:
I love Zari! I really don't have any back story on her at this point. She was originally just "Agent B" but when the need arose to give story points to another agent, we chose her because she looked so awesome! And Sharon Muthu gave voice to her so wonderfully.
I love when we finally teamed her with Chase. Hopefully the anticipation was that she would give him a hard time. I love that we defied expectation (organically, of course) and had her respect him by the end of that episode (for believing that he foiled Carmen!)
Julia:
Do you have any thoughts on small facts about any character, major or minor, that you think are fun/interesting to think about, but don't necessarily add to the plot itself?
Duane Capizzi:
Bellum, like myself, likes cats. But you knew that!
I try to put everything pertinent on screen, doing double duty to service any given episode's story but also the overarching story. That "journey" thing I mentioned earlier - we had no idea Chase falling on his own car would be a thing when I first came up with it. But as other characters refer to the incident, it took on a life of its own and made the characters feel more real.
Sorta kinda related to this question and some earlier ones, I will say that I DO think there's more to learn about Shadowsan's past vis a vis Lady Dokuso: it's clear to me that they have a history together, and it's something I hope to explore someday soon (maybe in a book if not another series
Julia:
Are the Carmen Sandiego books a part of canon?
Duane Capizzi:
I only consulted on the first two or three (too busy with series!) and have not read them, so hard for me to answer in a definite way. They are definitely in the universe we've created, but not in the timeline that I know of (which would have been too hard to pull off with our script development running concurrently). But do know that the book team at HMH pays close attention to the series and world so they should be perfectly compatible. Look no further to their clever social media on the series for example.
Kenz:
We saw in season 4 that Julia and Carmen helped each other mid to long term; would there ever be a possibility that Julia would permanently or semi-permanently join team Red?
Duane Capizzi:
Of course there's a possibility. But in a sense, with ACME now finally on Carmen's side, in a sense if Carmen were back in the game Julia, Chase, Zack and Ivy would ALL be an extension of Carmen's crew. But, would J remain with ACME or literally come to Carmen's team at her HQ? As they said in an old radio show: "Only The Duane Capizzi knows ..."
Kenz:
Where do you see Carmen in her retirement (if she retires)? Do you think she would still travel the world or settle down somewhere? Similarly, do you have any thoughts on what some other characters could be doing years down the line?
Duane Capizzi:
That is a big question, and one difficult to answer without some potential future spoilers (and yes, I really want to tell more Carmen stories if you can't tell But I'll answer by giving you one "read" on our open-ended ending as seen in 408 (read no further if you haven't seen it - yeah, right haha). The ending suggests to me that Carmen settled down for a spell to forge that relationship with her mother, to make up for lost time. But, if that is indeed Carmen that we see on the rooftop, I think the ending suggests that Carmen doesn't stay still for very long. If Vile is back, there is work to be done! Carmen has a life mission - she's one determined lady.
But of course, it's deliberately ambiguous: "anyone with your heart, wisdom and courage can be Carmen Sandiego." Is it Carmen? Sonia? Someone we haven't met? I think both endings resonate: Caroline and I always said "Carmen is bigger than a person, Carmen is a movement" would be a great message to end the series on. And I think our ending resolves this chapter of Carmen's journey as a person, but also elevates her to mythic status. Which is why I love it!
And, that seems to me a pretty perfect question and answer to end our chat on. Thanks everyone! Again, I cannot tell you how moved I am to see that we have such a passionate, intelligent and talented fan base. THANK YOU.
Take care guys, thanks again for having me! 'night!

Friday Special #9
January 30th, 2021
So I was digging through my bag of DS and GBA titles, and noted that one of them was a Game Boy Advance VIDEO cartridge that contained the first two episodes of Sonic X. Popped it into my DS to relive some nostalgia and it occurred to me that there isn’t anything like this anymore besides those PSP UMD VIDEO disks that had whole movies on them.
So where did they come from and how did they come to be?
For this week’s Friday Special, we’re gonna find out.
Tumblr media
For a little backstory, the Game Boy Advance handheld console was released back in 2001 and it was marketed as the successor of the Game Boy Color. With its resolution of 240 x 160 pixels (which was a lot at the time), 15-bit RGB Color Support (it was capable of producing 512 colors in character mode and 32,768 simultaneous colors in bitmap mode), and Dual 8-bit DAC for stereo sound, it was a fascinating machine and a work of technical art. It was super successful world-wide and garnered millions in sales.
So what exactly were the Game Boy Advance Video titles?

Although the first of the GamePaks (the other name that they went by) started to appear in 2004, the original name was GBA-TV a year earlier. The first cartridges to be released in May of 2004 were when Majesco was able to acquire rights for 4Kids properties such as Sonic X and Yu-Gi-Oh! for the earliest released titles. Later in June, select shows from Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Nick Jr., and Funimation were added to the line-up when Majesco acquired the rights. The Disney Channel soon was added as well late in November of that year, creating even more cartridges for the roster. That next November in 2005 was the time for when Majesco was able to acquire the rights for Shrek, Shrek 2, and Shark Tale from Dreamworks, where for the first time, the Game Boy Advance Video series would now feature full-length movies, which was a marvel at the time due to the Game Boy Advance’s limited memory.
Tumblr media
In total, 36 cartridges were made in the entire line-up with more slated for released but were cancelled for various reasons, whether they be because of low sales of previous cartridges or copyright issues.
Here is the complete list of cancelled games:
Drake & Josh vol. 1
"Pilot"
"Dune Buggy"
Even Stevens vol. 1
"Swap.com"
"Stevens Genes"
Kirby: Right Back at Ya!
Ugly Betty vol. 1
"Pilot
"The Box and the Bunny
Sonic X vol. 2
"Missile Wrist Rampage"
"Chaos Emerald Chaos"
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vol. 2
Yu-Gi-Oh! vol. 2
Speaking of copyright, there is a reason that the GamePaks were only viewable on Game Boy Advance systems as well as the first two DS systems but not the GameCube's Game Boy Player accessory. It was because the owners asked Majesco to make it so that making the games incompatible with the GameCube’s GBA Player would protect their properties from getting ripped onto VHS tapes and DVDs, which was what the Player was capable of doing. It would not have mattered however, because the low quality would have shown on the TV, making the ripping process useless.
The low quality of the cartridges were due to the heavy compression of files in order for them to fit on a GBA cartridge, causing noticeable artifacts on the screen, even more visibly on a later system like a DS console. The low quality was the biggest disadvantage for the Game Boy Video cartridges as they eventually became obsolete by the late 2000s/ early 2010s when the DSi was released with no backward capabilities.
Despite them being obsolete by today’s standards, they can still be found online on shopping sites like eBay and depending on the condition can go for a pretty penny. The rarest one in the entire roster is the cartridge for Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! vol. 1 as only a limited number of copies were made and are now so rare that they can fetch almost $200 on eBay, where that is the only shopping site to even have them for listings.
It should be mentioned that around the same time, Sony was releasing PSP UMD (Universal Media Disc) Video disks for their PSP systems that were capable of playing whole movies, but that’s an article for another time.
Thoughts From the Head
As stated above, I actually do have one of the Game Boy Advance Video cartridges in the form of Sonic X Vol. 1 that I had bought years ago at a local video game store. It still works, and although you can definitely see the age on a DS screen, it’s still super impressive how much they had to compress in order for the data to fit.
It’s still a really neat piece of history and it’s something that would’ve never happened in today’s age of gaming with everyone being as tight-lipped about copyright to the point of it being detrimental to creativity. That being said, if you have a GBA, its succeeding systems or the first two DS systems, I’d say to track them down while you can, especially if your favorite show is on the list (unfortunately, I have no hope of getting the Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! vol. 1 cartridge as that is like trying to find an ant in a haystack but I have the Sonic X one and that’s good enough for me).
Here’s some photos of mine!

Why Tom Holland Was Terrified of Playing a Bank Robber in Cherry
https://ift.tt/3aIcnLv
All of a sudden Tom Holland is everywhere. He’s got two movies out right now–the sci-fi thriller Chaos Walking and the drug/crime drama Cherry–and the latter is making its premiere on Apple TV+ this weekend after a limited run in theaters. He also recently wrapped production on the long-developing adaptation of the Uncharted video game franchise, and he’s currently working with director Jon Watts again on their third standalone Spider-Man adventure together, Spider-Man: No Way Home.
In Cherry, based on the best-selling semi-autobiographical novel by Nico Walker, Holland stars as the title character, a young Cleveland man who joins the Army after his girlfriend (Ciara Bravo) announces she is going away to college. He returns home from Iraq with PTSD, develops an opioid addiction, and eventually turns to bank robbery to support his habit.
The often harrowing film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, making it the first motion picture directed by the Cleveland-born brothers since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Cherry marks Holland’s fourth collaboration with the Russos, following Endgame, Captain America: Civil War (2016), and Avengers: Infinity War (2018), but his first time working with them without a superhero costume.
Cherry is also one of two recent movies, the other being last year’s grim The Devil All The Time, in which the British actor steps away from his generally sunny, innocent demeanor to take on a darker, more tormented character. We touched on that, working with the Russos, researching the world of addiction, and more–including little nuggets on No Way Home and Uncharted–when we hopped on Zoom recently with the young Mr. Holland.
Den of Geek: What did you respond to in the character of Cherry, as well as the script? What was your emotional and visceral response to his story?
Tom Holland: I think my initial response was that I was terrified of the idea of playing this character. It’s the type of role I’ve definitely never done before, and I was a little sort of apprehensive and questioned whether I could do it. Knowing that the Russo brothers were going to be there to support me through the job is what kind of tipped me over the edge into saying yes. But my initial response was, “I don’t think I’m the right person for this job because I don’t know if I can do that.”
You probably had a level of trust established with the Russos from working on the three Marvel pictures you did together. Did that make you feel comfortable right away?
Yeah. Absolutely. Still, I had that element of awe when it came to the Russos because they were the directors of the Avengers films, and I was still very much the new kid on the block when I was making those films. It was really nice for me to get to know them both on a more personal level and, obviously, that level of trust grew as the film progressed. It grew and it grew and it grew, and it’s now to the point where Joe and Anthony could ring me up, and I would be on set for them in a heartbeat. The trust between the three of us definitely grew.
How is their style of directing different on this? Was there more of a personal rapport because of the fact that they’re not dealing with the same kind of visual effects as in the Marvel movies or servicing 50 different characters?
I felt a little spoiled to be honest, because I was getting their utmost attention. But I mean, their direction style didn’t change in the way that they spoke to people, in the way that they addressed people, in the way that they treated people on set. But the style in which they would use the camera or the way they would get you to portray or work in a certain scene is very different because, obviously, it’s a very different type of film.
But from a logistical standpoint of how they made the film, they were basically the same two guys, just having fun. It’s nice to see two people who are so in love with cinema just having a good old play and figuring it out as they go along.
Was it interesting and maybe refreshing for you to do a film where you’re not in the Spider-Man suit for so much of the movie, and you’re not acting against a green screen?
Absolutely. Working on green screen and blue screens and wearing a spandex Spider-Man suit is amazing, and it’s awesome and I love it, but there’s something freeing about everything on set is what is in the shot, what is in the story. I don’t have to imagine anything, because everything is a tangible asset and is right there in front of me. It’s a different process, and I love both equally. But it was nice to kind of have a change of pace and dive into something a little bit smaller.
How was it working with Ciara on her first feature film? Was it easy to establish the rapport with her?
We were so lucky with Ciara. I remember when I watched her audition tape, when the boys had cast her, and they sent it to me just to say, “By the way, this is the girl who’s going to play Emily,” for the first time in my career, I was so intimidated. She just has this gravitas that she brought to the character in her take that was so amazing.
I was really excited to work with her and I was really happy when I found out that her and I were very similar and had a lot in common. We became very, very good friends, which was so valuable for us, because this film was such a difficult film to make, physically and emotionally. The fact that we got along so well meant that we could help each other through the process. She was like my emotional support person, and I was hers, and it was great. We were a little team.
Do you take a role like this, or something like The Devil All the Time, knowing that these are going to not just challenge you as an actor, but show a whole different side of you to an audience that maybe only knows you as Spider-Man?
I love playing Spider-Man, and I think it comes with its own set of challenges. I think sometimes people overlook that superhero films do require performance, a character arc, building up a backstory, an objective of where you want to go. It’s just these films are very different. They’re very different in style, but they’re not very different in the way that you make them. The process of making a film is pretty similar. They just spend less money, and it’s less blue screen. But, yeah. I enjoyed the sort of creative freedom of making a film a little bit darker.

Did you get to meet and talk with Nico Walker? I know you did meet with some people with addiction problems, as well as some veterans.
I’ve never actually met with Nico. We were supposed to meet a few weeks ago, but for some reason, our schedules kind of got a bit jumbled up, and we couldn’t get together. But I hope to meet him. He’s obviously the one person that I’m really nervous about watching the film, because we took a portion of his life, and we turned it into this piece of art, and I hope it’s something that he likes.
But we did loads of research when it came to speaking to veterans and people suffering from PTSD and substance abuse, and it was so valuable in the making of this film, because I couldn’t have made this an authentic experience for the audience without having that information from those people. I’m very grateful that the men and women I spoke to were very open to talk about the things that they’d been through, which were sometimes very harrowing.
What did you learn that maybe you hadn’t known before and were able to apply to the part?
Wow. I could go on and on. I think one of the biggest things for me that helped drive a lot of the motivation in the scene was that once you’re hooked on heroin, all you can think about is getting more heroin. It was a really good kind of catalyst to tell these stories authentically. I think that was one of the most valuable things I took away from my research.
What was the most physically challenging aspect of the shoot?
The most physically demanding portion of the film was dope life, when I was losing all the weight, and I was skinny, and I was having to starve myself. And robbing the banks was tiring, because I was so weak from being so skinny and frail, I guess. So that would easily be the more physically demanding aspect of the film.
Apple TV+
You also play this character as he ages over 15 years. Is it fair to say this is the first time you’ve actually played a character who’s aged over that kind of span of time?
Absolutely. On The Lost City of Z, a James Gray film I did, there was quite a large progression in age, but I was no way the lead of that film. A lot of my stuff sort of happened off camera. Obviously in Cherry, you are with this character from the beginning to the end. That meant that I had to do a lot of the growing on screen, and it was difficult. It was tricky, because trying to play older, to me, felt very fake. That’s where I was so lucky to have my amazing makeup artist, Rachael Speke. She did a wonderful job of aging me up throughout the course of the film.
It was difficult, and I just had to trust the Russos and that they knew what they wanted and they were happy with what they were getting. But it wasn’t the easiest thing in the world to do.
Is that something that you would like to apply to other characters? As you continue to play Spider-Man, would you like to see him age a little more noticeably, if it’s appropriate?
Yeah. Peter Parker is a character that everyone knows and loves. It would be really interesting to sort of find a side to him that people haven’t seen before. Whether or not we do that, I don’t know.
What can you say about Spider-Man: No Way Home in terms of how it expands the MCU and how it evolves Peter’s character?
Well, there’s not really much I can say, obviously. What I can say is that I’m having the time of my life making it. It’s so fun being back with Jacob [Batalon] and Zendaya, and [director] Jon Watts. The film is incredibly ambitious, and I’m delighted to say that we’re succeeding in making it. It’s going really well. We watched a fight scene that we had shot a few weeks ago, and I’ve never seen a fight scene quite like it in the MCU. I’m really excited for audiences to see that.
You also just recently wrapped Uncharted. What do you think people will see in that if they’re not fans of the video game?
Well, an interesting idea and one that I really think lends itself to our film, is that when you watch a video game film–if you’re a fan of the games–I often wonder, “Why would you watch the film?” Because it’s less immersive. You can go and be that character. Why would I just want to watch that character?
But what we’ve got is we’re telling the prequel story of how the character, Nathan Drake, became this worldwide known character. For the fans that love the games, they’re getting an aspect of the story that they’ve never seen before. And the people that haven’t played the games are getting a really nice introduction to a character. It kind of works for everyone.
It’s a really fun film, and the action is amazing, easily some of the coolest action I’ve done so far. I had a lovely chat with Tom Rothman, the chairman of Sony, he saw the film, and he’s over the moon with it. If the boss man is happy, then everyone is happy. We’re really good.
Cherry premieres on Apple TV+ on Friday, March 12.

Supermodel Karlie Kloss on How Pregnancy Has Affected Her Routines
“I normally love running but I have to say I’m out of breath these days just talking or going up a flight of stairs.”
Karlie Kloss says that the last thing she thinks about before she goes to bed is coffee, and these days she’s living for her cup of decaf in the morning. In mid-November, the supermodel, 28, confirmed she and her husband Joshua Kushner, 35, are expecting their first child together. Other than her caffeine routine, she says pregnancy has made waking up a little harder.
“I think I could sleep in until three in the afternoon,” she says.
It’s most likely not an option for her. Kloss’s days are filled with back-to-back Zoom meetings, Instagram Live streams for her first collection with Adidas and filming episodes for her YouTube channel, Klossy—all from her current home in Miami. In addition to modeling, Kloss runs Kode With Klossy, a free coding camp for teenage girls; hosts Bravo’s Project Runway; and has invested in companies including Apparis, Mirror and StockX. She’s a spokesperson for brands including Carolina Herrera and Estée Lauder, and in August, she led an investor group that acquired W magazine in partnership with Bustle Media Group. Here, she tells WSJ. about her first board meeting (virtual, of course) for W, her “simple” beauty routine and favorite smoothie recipe and why Sundays for her are a lot like Mondays.
What time do you wake up on Mondays, and what’s the first thing you do?
I normally am up at 6:30, 7, but I feel like these days, more into winter, I’m hitting the snooze button more and more. I like to get my workout in first thing in the morning, so I almost force myself to get out of bed and put on my leggings, my sneakers and my sports bra. I brush my teeth and go straight to my workout, which, by the way, is like the shortest commute of all time now that it’s basically just my Zoom workouts.
Do you have any go-to classes?
I’ve been loving Tracy Anderson workouts because you can do them anywhere. I have my little ankle weights, whether I’m in New York or my parents’ house or down in Miami. [The workouts are] full body weight workouts. And then I’ve really gotten more into yoga. I normally love running but I have to say I’m out of breath these days just talking or going up a flight of stairs. Being pregnant has put a little bit of a damper on my running routine but I still have been trying to stay active no matter what, going for lots of long walks.
Do you have a favorite breakfast for starting the week off right?
I really love doing a smoothie to pack in all the nutrients: frozen blueberries, frozen spinach, almond milk, a bunch of maca and ashwagandha and all these things that I can’t really pronounce.
What’s your vitamin routine like?
I take this really great prenatal called Ritual. And Seed probiotics. That’s kind of it.
Do you set aside a specific time to brainstorm or reflect during the week?
I feel like Monday through Fridays are crazy, so Saturdays are the day when I’m fully offline. I step away from my computer, my phone. I’m present and disconnected from virtual life. I feel like the week really starts on Sunday. It’s when I take a minute to look back at the week prior, make sure that I’ve gotten back to everyone I need to, closing any loops and then looking ahead to the week to come: prepping with materials or communications, reading that needs to happen. Sunday is my day to get ahead on life.
What’s your beauty routine like these days?
It’s more on the simple side. I guess it’s because, my fifteen years working as a model, I’ve always been the blank canvas for the artists to create these looks. I’ve always been so much more focused on taking care of myself from the inside out. At night, my routine is cleansing, toning, using a serum and then a cream and an under-the-eye cream. In the morning...I slap on a serum and a light cream. I [like] a light concealer, I like to fill in the brow with an eyebrow pencil. Maybe a little bit of cream blush and a lip liner and then that’s it.
Is there anything about your beauty routine or diet that’s out of the ordinary?
I’ve always had bizarre cravings, so it’s kind of nothing new, but I’ve really been loving everything salty and crunchy.
Do you have a best time management or efficiency hack?
In a weird way, I feel like I’ve been able to become much better with my time management [during the pandemic]. I feel more productive and more involved than before, [not] being on an airplane and in transit all the time. Today, I did an Instagram Live for Adidas with Alexis [Williams], this amazing [Kode With Klossy] scholar who was in the campaign with me. Then I went straight to a board meeting, we had our first ever W board meeting. This year, we acquired W magazine in the middle of a virtual world which has been an amazing endeavor.
And then I had a quick 20 minutes to go pee and grab lunch and then race back. And then we have a big Kode With Klossy presentation this afternoon. It’s been really interesting and exciting to see the innovative ways for us all to communicate or [for] brands to reach people. This past summer, Kode With Klossy went virtual for the first time ever. For the past five years, we’ve run in-person summer camps across the country… [but] by going virtual, we were able to scale in a whole new way. We had students from 20 countries around the world, so it allowed us to grow in an unprecedented way.
What’s your media diet like?
I love The Wall Street Journal. I get a lot of my news from newsletters and I love listening to podcasts. I scroll through Instagram and Twitter but I also limit myself; otherwise, I go down rabbit holes. But in the morning first thing, especially on a Monday, I read through all my newsletters and make sure I get abreast of what’s going on. I love the W magazine newsletter, a Wall Street Journal newsletter, a Washington Post newsletter and a New York Times newsletter.
What’s your involvement at W like?
It’s so exciting to be involved on the other side of a publication like W. My entire career I’ve been on more the editorial side, so [now I’m] more on the strategy and supporting the creative team. Sara Moonves is an incredible editor-in-chief, but also what I get excited about is thinking about the opportunity that exists to continue to evolve where fashion and media are going, building out new revenue streams.
What do you look for when you’re deciding whether to make an investment?
I’ve invested in quite a few startups over the past years. I really love to support female-founded businesses.... I have quite a little portfolio at this point, in my heart I’m very entrepreneurial.
When it comes to life post-baby, are there other supermodel moms who you look up to in the industry?
Where to begin? Christy Turlington [Burns] has been a role model and mentor of mine. She is somebody who I feel really lucky to have to look to for guidance and advice. Her work with Every Mother Counts is one of the reasons why early on in my career I realized the opportunity to make the most of having the platform. And as a mom, I think she’s just the coolest. Cindy Crawford is an incredible supermom as well. Natalia Vodianova, I mean, she has five kids. I still to this day don’t understand how she does it. I’m really excited for all of my friends who are entering this next chapter of life at this time too, so excited for some new mom groups.
What’s one piece of advice you’ve gotten that’s guided you?
I keep a running list of notes on my phone and computer. There’s this one that I love: “Success is not the key to happiness; happiness is the key to success.” That is a quote that I love.

Every second of this is solid gold. Fart jokes aren’t for everyone (I’m not particularly fond of them myself), and I know some people strongly disliked the fake feud (I loved it, but I guess people thought it was real?), but the setup, the audience engagement, and the ultimate payoff made this whole overall thing a fun, well-executed, unique experience that made me proud to be a fan of such creative teams. Bravo, well done, you all are geniuses!

9, 16 and 25 :'D for Juniper
9. What do they think of the supernatural?
Confused, most definitely. They still have a bit of confusion, which isn’t helped because there are still things that team bravo and their mother won’t tell them about. Which that is irksome to the nth degree. But they are sort of accepting that this is part of their world now and they can’t really go back. Not that they miss not knowing, but it’s a rather large pill to swallow.
16. Do they have any pets?
Yes! Juniper has four pets! They have a pink toe tarantula creatively named Pinky (pinky-poo is her common nickname). They got her as a baby and raised her--she’s about 3-4 years old and her tank is in Juniper’s bedroom. They have three female bettas named primrose, bluebell and clover!
25. What do they usually wear? Has that changed?
They wear a variety of different clothing! They have several sundresses they wore a lot in the first book + half a dozen different cardigans, all of them oversized. In book two they were more partial to high waisted jeans and t-shirts. they have a whole slew of novelty t-shirts ranging from underground hand printed band tshirts to old dunkin donuts t-shirts they got somewhere. it’s eclectic would be the best word. But they most commonly wear their various different rings + their slew of necklaces.

Hi, everyone! It’s time to venture back out into the world which is a little scary, right? That’s where we are in Northern California – like turtles starting to stick our heads out just a little bit. We’re starting to visit family, actually going to the grocery store, and getting haircuts for everyone – a good thing since we’re all looking a bit like muppets.
Though with the latest numbers in California, who knows where we’re headed. It’s terrifying. Masks, masks, masks, wash, wash, wash.
In case you missed the last two installments of my blog posts, you can catch up by clicking here for week one and here for week two.
This week I’m thrilled to share an insider look into the mind of author Barbara Delinsky, who just dropped her latest hot read, A Week At The Shore, which immediately hit the New York Times bestseller list – her twenty-third novel to do so.
Both Pip and I enjoyed A Week At The Shore immensely.
Full disclosure: Barbara is one of my BadRedhead Media clients (and I’m supremely grateful for that!). I handle her social media, street team, blog and book review optimization, and a good deal of her book promotion.
After finishing the book (which I loved), I had a few questions for Barbara about her writing style, so I emailed them to her and she was kind enough to respond.
A Week At The Shore by Barbara Delinsky Interview
Q: I notice you don’t only use ‘she said’ for dialogue, which I personally love, though as I’m sure you know well, it’s a DEBATE.
A: I’ve actually spent a lot of time thinking about this. I don’t use half as many other words (“she exclaimed,” “she intoned,” or “she declared”) as much as I used to. Yes, there’s something to be said for simple and real. That said, the constant monotony of “she said” gets boring, so I try to find a comfortable balance. This actually ties in with your next question.
Sometimes, the sub for “she said” can express emotion, as in “she cried,” or “she dare say,” or “she whispered.” So it does add something. Still, though, not quite the “show, not tell” rule (see more on that below).
Q: Also, the ‘show, not tell’ rule regarding feelings. You sometimes say what emotions Mallory {Ed. the main character} feels (at times). If I wrote that in my creative writing classes, my teacher would’ve jumped out a window, yet it works. Again, love. All this ‘do this, not that’ advice can be confusing for writers, regardless of genre, myself included.
A: Yes, it does work at times, at least, for me. But then, I never took a creative writing class, so maybe I just don’t know how to show rather than tell. Here, too, I think you have to be guided by common sense. If by “show,” you mean having a character “start to huff and puff,” to show upset, rather than simply to “cry in alarm,” I’d opt for the simpler.
The image of huffing and puffing will distract the reader from what you’re saying. IMHO, the “show, not tell” rule applies to larger things, like rather than saying “her husband could be nasty,” saying something like, “her husband could see her scrubbing the dinner dishes and tell her she was made for this.” So, it’s really giving an example of what you’re saying in summary. Does that make sense?
Q: Yes, absolutely. Also, you write about the past in the present tense – I do this with memoir and blog posts, and prefer to read books or even blog posts/articles written this way. It’s more immediate. When I work with writers in my workshops, they tend to write in the past tense. I haven’t read all of your other books, so I wonder if you do this with all your books?
A: I’m actually not even aware of writing about the past in the present tense, unless it’s a bonafide flashback, in which case it would be in the present. I’ve been experimenting with different tenses book to book. My last book, BEFORE AND AGAIN, was in the first-person past tense, A WEEK AT THE SHORE is in first person present tense.
The latter took some getting used to. And it’s possible that I botched the flashback tenses simply because I’m not ultra-experienced with first-person present. My editor didn’t catch or change anything, though. I agree with you. There is an immediacy to first-person present tense that is nice. That said, the new book I’ve started is in first-person past tense.
Q: Basic skills – I get it. This is how new writers learn. You aren’t new (after writing hundreds of books and stories), so you break rules – is that it?
A: I’m not “schooled” in writing, so I don’t know I’m breaking the rules!!
Q: You’re so skilled, Barbara. Your characters are intricate and layered. This book is a CLASS in writing. Do you ever think about young writers reading your work and learning from you?
A: You are too kind, Rachel. Seriously. I’m just muddling along, basically doing what works for me as a reader, since I have no formal training. Truly. Now I’m just enjoying it.
Barbara has written a few articles for me on my biz site about breaking the writing rules, which I hope you’ll read. She’s a true writer’s writer. I hope you’ll read her books and articles. She’s also an avid reader herself and does weekly book reviews on her blog.
What I’m Reading Now
I’m now reading the third book in the Discovery of Witches series, The Book of Life, and it’s fabulous, just like the others in this series. I’m not going to spoil it for you if you haven’t read these. Harkness is a wonderful writer, and she weaves history, passionate love, and the supernatural together in a way that carries you into other worlds. Even though it’s vampires, witches, and demons, it’s not glowy, corny vampires and evil witches on broomsticks. Harkness’ stories are wholly imaginative.
When I found out Sundance made the first book into a series, I paid for the app ($5.99/month – totally worth it) and watched the entire series in one day. SO GREAT. Perfectly cast, well-acted, leaving me yearning for more. I’m now re-watching it.
What Else I’m Watching
I never did see Being John Malkovich so I watched it with my daughter. Weird flick. Good, but super weird. Definitely takes the, ’15 minutes of fame,’ motto and turns it on its head. Speaking of heads, I’ve never seen such horrible hair in any movie.
Have you seen it? What are your thoughts?
Space Force just came out on Netflix and it’s hilarious. If you’re super conservative, you may not like it, so beware (though they poke fun at both parties). If you can laugh at the ridiculousness of government, please watch. Carrell is great, as usual, and the relationship dynamics are brilliant (and there’s John Malkovich again – great, as usual).
Vanderpump Rules I mentioned previously that this is the one reality show I watch with my 20-year-old daughter, Anya, and we watched the reunion shows – all three of them. I know, ridiculous. Jax is such a joke (his blatant homophobia disgusts me, though he says he supports gays – what?), Jax and Brittany together are just ugh, and Max makes me want to vomit (breaking news – he just got fired – ha!).
And honestly, could Vanderpump be any more white? We’ve been saying this for years.
SO much has happened since last week – wowzers. They’ve fired four people as of this writing for making racist remarks. Either the show will be retooled or canceled. I’m sad to see the epitome of white-girl whiteness Stassi gone – she was at least honest about her privilege. What do you think?
I’d be pretty much done with this show if it wasn’t for my daughter begging me to watch with her (we do watch movies and other shows as well). I’m glad Pumpy fired their asses, otherwise, I’d be done DONE.
Compassion
What’s missing from most reality shows is compassion, which is why I don’t enjoy watching them. We see (and hear, loudly and repeatedly) the negativity, toxicity, and the worst in people because that’s what the editors and producers know will keep viewers coming back – drama.
There are flashes of compassion, e.g., when dealing with the death of a loved one, coming out, infidelity, or mental health issues. I appreciate when Bravo, for example, handles these issues well. I don’t appreciate it when they have not – and they have not in many cases. An overall lack of compassion appears to be missing from many of these people’s lives; however, using The Four Agreements, that’s an assumption on my part; we don’t see behind the scenes or when the cameras are off.
I do have compassion for the casts of these shows who have decided money is worth more than their privacy. They are adults making decisions about their lives, and all that comes with it, as any celebrity does. Now, they’re dealing with the fallout.
“Make good choices!” as Jamie Lee Curtis’s mom in Freaky Friday admonishes a young Lindsay Lohan’s Anna (and we all know how that turned out). Oh, Lindsay. Honestly, she’s such a product of dysfunction, it’s truly sad, but that’s a whole other post.
If only people would listen to their Hollywood movie mothers…
Products Supporting Black Lives Matter
In no particular order, here’s what I’ve bought and am loving:
YUBI: The original fingertip makeup brush is amazing. Worth every penny. How did I not know about this?
Pat McGrath Real Makeup: I’m a sucker for a great eye shadow palette. McGrath’s are pricey but fab-u-lous. Why so spendy? All her products are highly-pigmented so you don’t need much; they’ll last a good long time. Here’s the one I purchased on Amazon. For when, ya know, I actually have somewhere to venture out to.
Body Butter Lady: Lip stuff and of course, body butter. Affordable, smells amazing, and will last a good, long, time.
LipBar: Lips for days, tons of colors and textures to suit anyone.
LipSlut: Awesome colors, and 50% of all proceeds go to support women and children’s charities all the time. Right now, they’re supporting Black Lives Matters. 50% towards charity, 100% against tyranny. Cruelty-free, Vegan.
Their newest shade, F*ck Trump on pre-order, will support civil rights organizations specifically targeted by the Trump organization – I mean, administration. Oopsies.
Here is my current personal selection (F*ck Kavanaugh is a favorite – a pretty brownish-red that wears well):

Karlie Kloss interview for Vogue Spain December 2019
*If you share this translation anywhere, please credit.*
The last three days in Karlie Kloss life would be, to any mortal, a marathon capable of causing a panick attack. It’s 12 p.m., and the American model checks the schedule of her trip to Madrid to present the male version of Good Girl, the Carolina Herrera fragance she is the face of. The previous night she was the host of a dinner at the Prado museum with Carolina A. Herrera - the designer’s daughter and also creative director of the brand’s fragances - and actor Ed Skrein, the face of the new perfume Bad Boy. A few hours before that, she was at El Hormiguero, shot the photos for this issue of Vogue Spain, and today’s morning is as hectic. During these 72 hours, she has to attend different commitments that will leave her with just a few hours to sleep, and a team of 10 people always paying attention so everything works perfectly. Despite all that, when Karlie sits on the sofa of this suite in a hotel in Madrid, leaving her lunch half eaten and excusing herself for being half an hour late, she does not look tired. “I like being on time, but these days are being crazy” she says while getting comfortable on the velvet couch. When you first look at her, her height and angular face that looks sculpted with a compass could intimidate you, but her charisma turns this interview with one of the most respected and valued models of her generation, into a sincere and reflexive talk similar to the chat you would have with a friend from high school.
At just 27, Karlie Kloss has made that her formula to success. Just as she dreamt when she was a kid in Saint Louis (Missouri), her face has been all over the world to change, after a decade, into the synonymous of commitment and involvement with different social causes. In the past six years, Kloss has changed some of her millionare contracts - like being a Victoria’s Secret angel, brand she left in 2015 - to start new projects like her YouTube channel Klossy, where she talks about life lessons as well as mental health, her technological and educative project Kode with Klossy, or Project Runway, the tv show that premiered last March on Bravo tv. “During these past four years, my life has completely changed. For a long time I thought that life would bring me the changes I needed, but the biggest change has come from myself. This decade has been a turning point where I’ve gained self-steem, security and values. Understanding what self love means has allowed me not only to focus on who I am, but also to translate that to projects I care about. That has made me make decisions like studying again (Feminist Theory at Gallantin School in 2015), associate just with brands that share my beliefs, and start Kode with Klossy. Without this learning, I would not be able to to teach other young girls to love and appreciate themselves, which is my main goal from now on”.
This inicial reflection happens while two people try to retouch her make up and hair for the other appointments she has today. It isn’t the most relaxed situation to talk about the flourish of this model and now entrepreneur, who last year married entrepreneur Joshua Kushner, whose brother Jared is married to Ivanka Trump and who works as her father’s adviser, Donald Trump, actual president of the United States. Even though she prefers to stay silent about this link - in August she told British Vogue that some situations “can be complicated” -, she considers her marriage one of the things that made her mature. “We got married in the strictest intimacy, surronded just by family and our closest friends. I will remember it my whole life”, she says about the ceremony that had its replica last June in Wyoming. “My conversion to Judaism, Joshua’s religion, also made me learning about things I hadn’t thought about before”, she says about traditions like Sabbath (Saturday in Jewish), which implies to completely rest during that day of the week. “I’ve found a lot of peace on this practice, because it makes me disconect from phones and technology that day. It has become something sacred that allows me to meditate, forget about the craziness of my life, and be more present with my people. It’s been one of the best changes that this transformation has brought to my life”.
It surprising to hear someone talk with this serenity when she isn’t even thirty yet, but Karlie Kloss’ career justifies that she has had to learn life lessons faster than other people. After being discovered when she was just 13, she made her debut with Calvin Klein during New York Fashion Week. Six months later she did the same on 64 shows, being the face of Bvlgari or Dolce & Gabbana, and catching the eye of brands like Carolina Herrera, Estée Lauder or Express, whose ambassador she currenlty is. In September 2009 she made her debut on a Vogue cover, starting a relationship that has made me her be on its cover over 40 times. A meteoric rise that wasn’t easy to process. “My mistake was to think that I had to act as a sophisticated and adult character so people would take me seriously. When someone used to tell me: “Karlie, you are amazing”, I didn’t understand why, and I was afraid if someone came to me in the street. I felt very uncomfortable because I thought I didn’t deserve that attention. I wasn’t saving anyone’s life. But with time I understood that I could use my fame as a way to change things, so I did it”.
The revolution would start from the inside, praising on her YouTube chanel the people who work behind the scenes during her photoshoots, or showing fashion as a creative and ethic industry against what people from the outside usually say about it. “It isn’t a perfect industry, but it is capable of making people dream and start real changes. There is something powerful in what we do, and we are responsible of promoting equality, diversity as well as support each other. I was lucky to have amazing women around me when I started, like Christy Turlington. She shows that you can be a long-lasting supermodel while being interested on other things, like she does with her foundation Every Mother Counts. I would like for Kode with Klossy to follow a similar path”. It’s the third time she mmentions this project that is now 5 years old, and where young girls are taught coding. “Beyond that, our mission is to explore different job opportunities for young girls with talents in different fields. It can be technology, fashion, baking (one of my other passions). This year some of the women behind the succes of Good Girl, the Carolina Herrera fragance I’m the face of, gave one of the talks. That’s why it is so important that the brands I work with are related to what I do outside this industry”.
Her fortune includes investments on companies run by women -Away, Lola or SkinTe among others -, and Kloss knows her goal in the long run. “I’m very lucky in my personal life. I’m still close with my childhood friends, I can go to Saint Louis as often as I can, and I decide how to use my time if possible. I would like to keep what I’ve built, but above all, help other women around the world to achieve their dreams”.
*Sorry if there are some grammatical mistakes. If you don’t understand some parts of the interview, feel free to send me an ask so I can try and explain it better 😊

Rules: answer these questions and tag five other fic writers to do the same.
I’ve been tagged by three people and three outstanding authors. Guys, you are my friends and I thank you so much for thinking of me.
Many thanks goes to @stephmcx. Your point of view on a scene or a moment always astonishes me. I’m in awe how you create gems in your very special way, babe.
Many thanks goes to @sussexualtension-blog. You’re my idol and I love your a/b/o writing and the way you treat swear words with sexiness. I would have never thought of getting tagged by DorisNancyGrey. Damn, love.
Many thanks goes to @space-ace--ravenclaw-demigod We share a soul bond. Your light shines in my heart and your beautiful mind matches mine with being crazy and kinky. You’re a rare flower and I’ve found you, babe.
(Sometimes I get all sappy and I need to pour some love over your heads. Bear with me, babes.)

Author name: cowandcalf (CowandCalf on AO3)
Fandoms you write for: At the moment, it’s exclusively for H50 and almost entirely for McDanno. I’m very loyal and if I have found a place and an OTP that fills my soul with love I settle down and I stay for years. I’ve written for the Suits fandom (Marvey) and for the TWD (Rickyl) fandom but nothing really has set my heart and my soul on fire like Steve and Danny have done and still do. I watch SEAL TEAM with spirit and a pounding heart. I love Sonny and Clay, and Jason and the whole Bravo Team but I just feel happy to spend time with the guys and to learn morn about being a SEAL because I need this for my understanding of Steve McGarrett. I can’t write for different fandoms. I can’t switch from one pairing to another. I tried this once and it fucks me up and my brain goes all mushy and I lose the deeper connection for the pairing I write for.
Where you post: I only post on AO3. I’ve discovered the fandom world late. I read tons of fics on FF.net and fanfiktion.de but I’ve never created an account on those websites. I've never found out how, to be very honest. LJ is great but so complex that I only read stories there, tons of stories and I created my first account but never posted anything there. I’ve discovered AO3 and that’s where the home of my stories is.
Most popular one-shot: It’s Chest Porn. I wrote a one-shot and some readers demanded a second chapter that I delivered some months later. But it has the most hits and Kudos. It’s actually my very first McDanno fic ever and it happened because Steve changes a shirt in front of Danny and Danny can’t stop roaming his eyes all over Steve’s bare chest.
Most popular mulit-chapter story: This is Skilled Hands. It was my second multi-chapter fic and it’s unbetaed. It’s still waiting to be worked to get rid of all the terrible typos but I haven’t taken the time yet. I love this story. It’s based on my background as a therapist. I just had this idea and even if it’s not that well-done (as some readers pointed out) I’m proud of myself that I’ve managed to pull through. It’s about love and McDanno.
Favorite story you wrote: That’s a difficult question. The most recent stories have totally a different energy as the ones I wrote one year ago. My beloved monster Eyes As Blue As The Ocean is a mind baby I protect with my heart. I love that piece of my mind so much. But when I have to choose then it’s my latest Werewolf AU because this feral stuff does something to me and awakes dark desires and old cravings and writing that stuff is damn intense. 'īlio hae me 'elua 'uhane
Story you were nervous to post: I’m always about to have a stroke before I post. Posting makes me shoot adrenaline in all direction and I end up jittery and nervous. I’m always so afraid my stupid computer eats my stuff. Jesus. I’m always nervous but my latest update, the character study on Steve, made me a bit anxious if it’s okay to put it on AO3 because It’s not a story. And I imagined all my readers who subscribed to me, all disappointed because...damn, why is she posting this crap? So, yeah, I was nervous to post Meta On Steve aka "Smooth Dog" – a Short Character Study.
How do you pick your titles: I love choosing a title. It happens mostly that I have a title before I even start with the story. The title is like a compass and it’s always well-chosen, mirroring a lot of the story. Titles come as a feeling and I wait, until I hear a song, I hear a word or I feel the story I want to write. I need this echo in my title. It’s easy for me to choose titles and it’s an important part of my writing and my creativity. A title is like a promise.
Do you outline? Yes, I’ve learned to do that. Multi-chapter fics with an arch over a special period of time need outlining. I’ve never done it until I realized I can’t go on like this. I will forget important details. It helps me to focus. I have the main arch, break it down into chunks of chapters until everything is broken down to little pieces and how to move on. Outlining takes off the pressure to keep everything in mind. I kind of forget what I have written in the previous chapter because I’m so hyper focused on the chapter I’m working on.
How many of your stories are complete? All of them. I really can’t stand it to have a WIP uploaded. I have some WIP on my hard drive. But my uploaded stories are all complete. Some are series and there will be more parts but the first part is finished and complete.
In-progress: Second part of my huge HS AU Eyes As Blue As The Ocean. I’m on it. I needed this time and only now the flow is coming back and I feel the story, the scenes and the beginning. The next thing I’ll upload is again a meta on Steve. I need this to put on AO3 and then I’m back on my second part. Then my Werewolf Series will be continued. I don’t know when but I have the story in my mind and I need to wait until my muse wants to punch out the second part. Until then I’ll write my sequel to my HS AU.
Coming Soon: Another Steve meta. I’ve posted in already on Tumblr. But I’ve discovered recently that this post has been flagged and has been hidden for everyone to see. I hate stuff like this. I’ll upload it on AO3. It’s fanish work. All the rest will take a lot of time to finish.
Do you accept prompts? No. It causes too much pressure. I’ve had a time where I answered anon asks with a little drabble and I still have one prompt from that time that I should turn into a short one-short. But I didn’t feel like writing it. I have so many ideas on my own, prompts just interrupt my flow of creativity because the one who prompted wants a response and this is pressuring me. I don’t like this.
Upcoming story you’re the most excited for? The sequel to my beloved monster (Eyes As Blue As The Ocean). The title will be “My Soul Is Calling You Home” I feel how it should be. It’s going to be long, it’s going to take me months to finish it, it’s going to be intense and challenging and it’s an urge, a deep-rooted need to finish this. I have no idea where I will end once I’ve started but I’m excited and I’m nervous.
