#lmao there’s next to zero resemblance between them #they are more akin in like. metaphor and themes than anything else #both caretakers to the living and the dead but eyrie is the more…active of that #their place as the bringer of death—both the gentle and unkind #the maker’s ruin. a godless world #they do not lack for care towards the living and the dead but nevertheless they shepherd the souls on #eyrie is a realization of the wishes of Charon’s heart #that she be no longer bound to the life she was decided to have #she loves her work and her task is so very important #but she wished for a freedom from it she could never be afforded #eyrie is in some small way a fufillment of that wish #even if the one who wished it is dead and never coming back #but physically they share next to nothing beyond dark brown eyes #it was mostly that I had a strong character design idea for Charon rather than any intense desire for them to be drastically different #from each other #it hammers it home to me that eyrie is pieces of her fragmented soul but she will never return #they are and never will be the same person as her #ffxiv #endwalker spoilers

every time I remember the whiplash of eyrie in their individual canon ends up as aymeric’s father in law. it will never not be funny to me

My hottest take about Heavensward I guess is that Haurchefant should have come on the Dravanian road trip. For being such a major character in HW we get to do surprisingly little with him until the very end. Just imagine: Ysayle like "I will expose the truth and tear down the Holy See," and Estinien all "I'M GONNA STAB NIDHOGG SEVENTY-SEVEN TIMES" and Haurchefant in the middle like, "Is it not a sign of Halone's blessing that we are here together, comrades all, working for the good of Ishgard!! 😊😊😊" He'd have been so proud of Alphinaud for building his little campfire. And he'd have fucking loved the moogles.
