**This is not a spoiler friendly review! Because of, what I feel is, pretty severe content, I'm going to tell you pretty much what happened from start to finish. Highly suggest reading the red flags in case this VN is potentially triggering to you**

So...this is a short but pretty wild game.

Like I mentioned above, because I feel like the content is pretty intense, I'm not going to spill every single tiny detail about the game; however, I will be telling you the "important" story details and the ending. Also, this is another short visual novel so, as expected, the review will be shorter as well. Then again, because I'm actually telling you the ending this time around, it might be just as long. Who knows. Either way, it's just a couple of heads up before we get too far into this thing.

Now that that's out the way, the game was good but it wasn't like "This is top tier gameplay!". It was pretty decent and overall just...the best way I can describe it is simply an experience. There wasn't much choice involved in the game, if you'd even count it as a choice. The one choice is primarily for consent or lack of, but it ultimately ends the same and there's no pleasing this Ciel guy.

Don't throw any tomatoes though! While the game isn't the best, I think it's still worth a casual playthrough, but I'll get more into that at the end. For now, let me tell you more about this visual novel, and how shit hits the fan.

So, boom.

We're a university student, and if you have either been to university or are currently in university, you might have had that experience where that one class (or even multiple classes) was kicking your ass in the most disrespectful way, and it wasn't as easy as dropping it. Why? Because it was a prerequisite, and you literally couldn't go on with the classes for your major unless you passed that particular class. That's what we're going through in this story, but it's literally not even our fault. Let me explain. Oh, but first, I should probably introduce this -- very...very rich -- asshat.

Everyone this is Ciel. Ciel probably doesn't care, so I'm not going to bother introducing you guys to him. Trust me, it's for the best. Okay, NOW let me explain, but first, let's set the scene for a flashback:

By the way, this is deadass a screenshot because it was deadass a flashback. Like, I'm not being overly cinematic/dramatic this time lol.

Anyways, so yeah, we're a university student, and we have a class that we're struggling with. The reason why this is isn't because we aren't grasping the content nor is it because we aren't doing what we're supposed to do, it is quite literally because of Ciel. The crazy part is, he isn't even the damned professor, he's the TA -- a cold, hateful, conceited TA. Even crazier? No one else would believe that description except us. Why? Because if everyone doesn't have a crush on him and is trying to smash, they don't have a crush on him but still think that he's a pretty decent dude with some decent humanness that doesn't make people hate him. Fantastic.

Ending my ranting, though, basically we're doing so poorly that he does the "teacherly" thing and is pretty much like "Lol you're failing". Upon hearing this, we're just like "Yeah, no shit", but we don't dare say anything like that to him because, well, for one, he makes our life hell enough without back-talking him, and for B, we ain't done with this class. This jerk can, would, and will drop our grade if we piss him off. Just like we're for 1000% sure that he graded us harder on a particular exam than the other students -- he always does, but like, come on. An exam? University students, y'all know how heavy those exam scores can be and how much that can absolutely kill your grade.

Again! Lol ending my ranting, we just kind've go "Yeah, I'm aware", and he's like "If you don't get help, you're going to fail". Once again, no shit, but we're like "Yes, I'm aware", and you know what he does? He offers -- well, more accurately demands that we take -- his services. At first, we're like "Hell no" but he's literally like "I'm not asking to tutor you, I'm telling you that I'm tutoring you", and it just sucks. It sucks because he's already really shitty to us two times a week for 90 minutes at a time, 180 minutes total, which is literally over 2 hours of making us depressed enough to dread Tuesdays and Thursdays as a whole, but now he wants to add more time on top of it. Fuck, man...

Like I said though, we didn't really have a choice. He pretty much told us that either we accept his help, or he'll deadass just fail us because "we don't care about our grades". Like what? And sure, we could just go to the actual professor, but what if they didn't do anything? Exactly. It would literally make things worse, and that wasn't paranoia or fear -- that was real life what would happen if we tried to snitch or go over him.

So, we begrudgingly accept the offer, and...it actually helped, I can't even lie. It inadvertently made us do better in the other courses as well, so he may have not been bluffing when he said that he was the only one qualified to give us the help that we needed for that course. Not to mention, he actually started being a little nicer to us! No, stop, don't get too hopeful. This guy is still the literal worse. Just let me keep explaining, but now we have to go back to the present.

The semester is over. We're going to be free from the stress of school and Ciel for the next 2 months and a half, and we have a bomb ass summer job waiting for us that we might consider working for in place of going to school -- yes, the pay is that damned good. We can't bask in the glory for long, though, because guess who comes along? Ciel's ass.

To make a long story short, he shares the news that we passed and he's adamant that he wants to take us out to this really fancy restaurant. That being said, we weren't going to pass up a free meal that we'd never be able to afford, like ever, so we accept the offer, and that, my friends, was where we fucked up. Allow me some more time to explain.

Ciel -- or rather his chauffer -- takes us back to our place, and even though we're like "Yo, you really don't have to come to my apartment. Better yet, I don't want you in my apartment", he's like "Yet you don't know what to wear, do you?" ...shit. He got our ass there. While, yes, we do have an inkling about what we're supposed to wear and have a decent selection to choose from, we might not have the right "fancy" clothes, and we run the risk of going underdressed. So, again, we begrudgingly agree to what he wants to do, and he's in our apartment. Our safe place. Great.

So, he's up in here, and we're basically playing runway model with Ciel, except instead of being in awe, he's being this judgmental prick. Finally, he gets to a point where he's fed up, and he just comes barreling into our closet. Whoa.

Naturally, we're like "Um..excuse you? I'm changing? What if I was naked?" and he just says "I wish you were". Wait what...

"Huh?"

"I said I wish you were, and now, I'm gonna kiss you."

Oh. He's bold, bold. Gotcha. So, now there's some obvious sexual tension, but this is where shit goes very, very left.

So, as you can see above, we have two options: Either we can fall into the whole enemies to lovers trope and let him hit it or we can tell him to piss off...and he still hits it, but without consent.

Yeah, that's...that's what those choices are. Either we can pick the consensual route or the nonconsensual. It's pretty obvious which is which.

Should you be like me, and you're a person that picks all options and combinations to see what ending you get, the nonconsensual route isn't nearly as explicit as the consensual route about what he actually does while he's raping us, but it does get pretty descriptive about how we feel as it's happening, and it can definitely be triggering. It's a relatively quick portion, but not so much if you're sensitive to that kind of stuff, so definitely be careful and keep that in mind if you decide to play. You can definitely avoid that part altogether should you choose to play anyways, and it doesn't really change the end. It's a same scenario, different wording type deal.

That being said! As for the other route, that's clearly a lot more pleasant (at least to an obvious extent), it's way more descriptive about what he actually does to us, but it's 1000% consensual. Okay, now for where it all comes to a head and both of these routes combine into the same ending!

So...yeah, the deed is done, and now Ciel is like "Okay, pack up your shit", and it's like "...Huh?". Basically, this man has scoped us out since day 1, and like, he is making us his wife. Of course, we're like "Uh, no? You're awful," but he's just like "Remember when I wasn't asking to tutor you? I'm not asking you to pack. Pack your shit."

Not having much of an option because of how aggressive and strong he is, we do as we're told. We pack the necessities, and we head to his limo. The worst part of all this, aside from going with this guy, is that we don't have any family or friends that are going to notice that we're missing or that something is wrong or anything. We can't even rely on our new job being concerned about our whereabouts because we've never set foot in there. They're going to quickly dismiss it as us being a "no show" and simply move forward. That's, quite literally, going to be it, and we're deadass stuck like chuck because of it. That realization combined with everything that was going on just causes us to freak out even more, and we end up passing out. Now mind you, how we pass out depends on if the sex was consensual or not.

Either way, we end up here:

Oh, it's actually a pretty nice room! Sure would be a hell of a lot nicer if we, like, you know, wanted to be here, and we weren't literally bound to the damned bed. I mean, not to be ungrateful or anything, just a bit of constructive criticism.

Ciel doesn't care though. He knows we'll adjust. We don't have a choice but to, and he doesn't care how long it takes. Know why? Because...

We have all the time in the world now.

Pretty solid game!

This was definitely more novely, if that makes sense. Actually, let me explain just in case you guys' brain isn't wired as goofy as mine is lol. What I mean by "it's more 'novely'" is that there's no choices to really make. Like I mentioned, the only choice -- and I mean that literally -- that has to be made is whether you consensually have sex with Ciel or not. Other than that, it's a linear story, and...it wasn't bad.

If you've been reading my reviews, you know that I've mentioned having a preference for choice heavy games, but this was still pretty good, even if I wanted to deck Ciel in the face and was not presented the option to do so...

I honestly don't have much to say about this one. The character was pretty cute but extremely toxic, the visuals were nice, and the story was short but wild. Can't really complain or comment on much. It was a simple game, so a simple review is all I have to offer lol.

Oh! Just as a heads up though! The part that stumped me the most was this screen:

Lol uh...that's the title screen.

When I tell you I thought that I had downloaded the wrong game or that it was the wrong game file on the page, I mean that. This dev has a game by this exact title, and I had saved it to play later, and I had honestly thought that I had either downloaded it by mistake or that they had uploaded the wrong file, but it's correct! If I understood what I saw, Chains of Fate -- which is what you see on the title screen -- is the game that the dev is working on, and Ciel's route -- or rather this particular game -- is a part of the whole game...I think. Lol just hit play and keep it rolling! You're playing the right game is what I'm saying.

But yeah! I thought the game was pretty okay! I recommend giving it a casual playthrough! It's a free game, so what have you got to lose other than about 20 minutes or so of free time? As always, be sure to leave your comments on the dev's page if you feel like they've done a good job, and you want to give them that extra reassurance to keep making games. you are and how he never needs to worry.

And god you lived for his praise.

The only problem with this was that the girls that were bad he had to give extra attention to. Sure it was him scolding them but it was attention non the less.

He started missing study sessions and giving his attention to the more struggling students and that made you sick.

What was the point of being a perfect student when it wasn't giving you what you wanted. And the fact was you didn't wanna be seen as a kid anymore.

So you decided to stop being his perfect student. You started skipping class or showing up late being sure to show Nanami how unapologetic you were when you stumbled in late.

You sat there. His gaze piercing through your skin making you wanna shift in your seat but you knew better than to do that.

"What is this Y/n?" Nanami asked. You shake your head.

"I'm not sure what you mean sir." You say weakly, patheticly. Your should have known he'd confront your new behavior inevitablely you just didn't know it'd be like this.

"Y/n, you are a brilliant student. You're smart, and you're kind. And you aren't the type to act how you are acting now." Nanami says softly.

"What's happening? You can tell me Y/n."

You squeeze your hands into fists.

"I don't need you to babysit me." you mutter under your breath.

"I'm sorry?"

"I'm not a kid you know? You don't have to baby sit me." you repeat a little harsher this time,

"Babysit you?"

"Yes Nanami! I mean for Christ's sake you act like I'm, like I'm your daughter something. I'm a woman Nanami not some young kid." You say.

"Y/n you are a 21 year old girl, you are by all

accounts young." Nanami says. You scoff and standing to your feet.

The slamming of Nanamis hands on the table startles you so much you completely freeze. Nanami's gaze pins you were you are.

"Lower your voice, and sit back down." He says sternly.

You sit down quietly, your eyes staring down at the floor in shame. Nanamis chair slides as he stands up heading to the door of the classroom.

You hear the loud click of the lock and steps heading back towards you.

Hey Raven, hope your doing well. I was rewatching book 5 and something struck me. Crowly stills does his thing to get yuu/mc to host the NRC tribe at Ramshackle. But compare to previous chapters hes seems a little nicer, i guess? He offering renovations and upgrades ( a positive), instead of just threatening to cut yuu's food budget or something (a negative).

Where im going with this is, do you think Crowley may have felt a tiny tinge for his (in) action in book 4? Or atleast, realized he actually screwed up. He did give Yuu in case of an emergency.... and promptly ignored it (or just turned it off) when he went on break. He likely had to have heard what happened over the break...an likely saw his missed calls and put 2 and 2 together. Sure he may not feel bad enough to apologize (at least openly), but he does seem to make himself scarce early in b5. That could just be him being, well, the headmage. Maybe he's just not sure how to deal with MC or how they'd react to seeing him? So instead of threatening Yuu, he offers them something instead? Idk, maybe im reaching. In many fandom depictions of Crowley, he often serves as Yuu's guardian who is incompetent but well-meaning. I'm also guilty of doing this, Crowley is considered my OC's father figure (even if my OC isn't a Yuu). That's how we choose to engage with the characters and the world that we love! However, I don't believe that Crowley has that sort of tenderness for Yuu in canon, whether at the start or as their relationship develops over the course of the main story. Now, that's not to say that I think Crowley is cold or hateful towards Yuu. Far from it! He does care for them, but in the same way that a teacher might care about nurturing their students and preparing them for the world beyond graduation. Crowley demonstrates a similar attitude towards other NRC students, with one very clear example being in his Raven Jacket vignettes. In those stories, he likens his students to apple trees that he raises and nurtures, hoping that one day they might bear fruit. He does not particularly grant Yuu special treatment unless it's a scenario where he wants them to do a favor for him. (Though here I would also argue he does the same for other students when he wants them to resolve an issue in his place, which happens frequently in event stories; in Fairy Gala, he warns the boys they'll be held back if classes cannot proceed due to the wacky weather. In Ghost Marriage, Crowley shames the boys for not expressing interest in rescuing Idia, etc.)

I also want to set the record straight regarding how exactly Crowley gets Yuu to comply with his requests. Reviewing all avaliable books in the main story, Crowley rarely outright threatens Yuu if they refuse to help him:

Prologue — Crowley does not initially ask anything of Yuu, but he does provide them a temporary home and food until they can sort something out. During Yuu's stay, they are meant to do handiwork to earn their keep. However, Crowley tries to expel them after their involvement in breaking what is considered a precious chandelier. In this case, his anger is somewhat justified but it's still the one major example of Crowley leveraging something to force Yuu to act in a way that he desires. The thing is, it's revealed in chapter 19 that Crowley did not believe Yuu could acquire the magestone he asked for and was all set to finalize the expulsion papers. So really, he wasn't serious at all in giving Yuu a chance to redeem themselves and was going to expel Yuu anyway (until they happened to prove their "usefulness"). Whether this counts as an example of Crowley "threatening" Yuu, then, is up to individual interpretation.

Book 1 — Crowley makes no specific request to Yuu. He shows up late in the book and suggests to the frustrated Adeuce that they fight Riddle to claim his seat as dorm leader, but does not tell Yuu to do anything in this situation. Recall that it was Ace that marched up to Ramshackle's front door and demanded that he be allowed to stay overnight; Crowley had no part in that.

Book 2 — In 2-7, Crowley asks Yuu to investigate the strange string of accidents that has befallen the students set to play in the upcoming inter-dorm magift/spelldrive tournament. There is a part where Crowley says he "never promised to cover living expenses". You, as Yuu, have the option to ask him "Is that a threat...?" to which Crowley never properly responds. Interpret that how you wish. He then offers Grim and Yuu a chance to participate in said tournament if they succeed, seeing as they lacked the 7 players needed to form a team. Crowley even says he will find 5 other players to fill in their missing team seats for them.

Book 3 — Here in 3-6, Crowley never actually threatens to cut off food. Instead, he is trying to earn pity from Yuu by guilt tripping them and emphasizing that he, the headmaster, is so busy with his tasks (like finding Yuu a way home) and will provide them with the funds they need regardless because he is so very kind. He's trying to tug at their heartstrings by pointing out the things he selflessly does for them, so they feel obligated to do something for him in return. Once Yuu agrees to help, he lavishes them with praise and says it is "expected" of someone he personally chose.

But!! I want to add that in the Episode of Octavinelle manga, this same scene is depicted as Crowley threatening to cut their food budget. I'm not sure if this is just a different interpretation (since Yuuta seems to prepare more food than is usually implied in the game; this would explain why their food costs go up significantly) or if Crowley truly was also threatening to cut the budget in the game.

Book 4 — Crowley makes a reasonable request in 4-2; he asks Yuu and Grim to tend to the fire fairies over winter break since it's a task no one else will be present to handle. In exchange, he says he will give them a banquet of tasty foods (which is not an empty promise; in 4-39, the Ramshackle Ghosts tell Yuu and Grim that the headmaster has left them with a ton of food as thanks.

Book 5 — Crowley appears in 5-21 asking that Yuu allow the NRC Tribe to stay at Ramshackle for their month-long training camp. He explains that Vil and Rook are willing to give up their share of the prize money if Yuu agrees to these terms. It is then that Crowley adds that he will help with renovation too, most likely to sweeten the deal with his word.

Book 6 — Crowley does not ask anything of Yuu. He does, however, call in STYX in 6-2 because he becomes concerned about the threat that Grim poses after consuming multiple crystallized blots. After Grim is taken, Crowley instructs Yuu in 6-4 to wait until Grim has recovered and been evaluated by a third party to speak with him again.

Book 7 — Crowley makes no specific requests to Yuu.

You can see in almost all instances that Crowley uses a variety of tactics to get his students to do what he wants them to. He bribes, shames/guilts them, points out very real consequences if the problem at hand is not resolved, and, yes, occasionally makes what can be interpreted as a vague threat. Despite this, the fact remains that he was always nice, not just post-book 4 (in fact, Crowley was also nice during book 4). I don't see the circumstances as "anything before or during book 4 is him being negative and threatening to punish Yuu and anything after book 4 is him being kind and positive to Yuu". In most cases with Yuu, he is offering them something they would want. His go-to strategy isn't threats, it tends to be the promise of a reward.

I wouldn't tie any of Crowley's actions to feeling a sense of remorse or guilt on his own part. While it's true we don't really get to see inside of his head, from what we see of him... this man is utterly shameless. He's willing to resort to emotional manipulation to convince literal children to solve problems that he, the powerful mage and adult, should be dealing with. What's more, he praises himself for Yuu's competence and willingness to step up. That's him placing a lot of faith in his students, and I don't think he feels any guilt in doing this. Why else would he send them into dangerous situations over and over again? He must, to some extent, believe they can already handle themselves just fine, otherwise he's creating tons of legal liabilities for himself by purposefully throwing children of tons of affluent families into the line of fire. Besides, he's a highly skilled mage himself--if any true, TRUE danger were to befall them, surely he could save the day himself. My thought is that he has sort of a "tough love" approach where he tosses his students into the fires and sees how they get out of it in one piece, but it's just presented in a "devil-may-care" way because of his lackadaisical attitude.

Regarding book 4, I personally see Crowley giving his cell phone number as just a means to provide reassurance to Grim and Yuu, since they (especially Grim) are protesting about him seemingly leaving on vacation. It's an empty gesture so he can have his getaway without much of a fuss; I totally believe that Crowley did not ever intend to answer his phone. When he returns in book 5, he's already asking another favor of Yuu, so I get the sense he isn't really bothered by what happened. I would even say that Crowley still has several major appearances in book 5, not that he has made himself scarcer. He appears to ask the favor, appears again to evaluate their performance, and then a third time at the cultural festival to speak with the headmaster of RSA. Crowley gets plenty of screen time here, much more then in books 6 and 7. If he truly felt bad or actively wanted to avoid Yuu, he could easily just tell other students (ie Vil) or even school staff (ghosts, teachers, etc.) to relay the deal for him.

Again, I want to be clear: THIS IS NOT CROWLEY BASHING. The only thing I am expressing in this post is that while I do love this bird-brained goober and think he cares for his students, I don't believe it's done in the conventional sense you're thinking of. Crowley can be selfish and callous and throw his students into danger, and that's okay! Sometimes we want to love a useless man who's trying his best, even if his best is pretty lousy/j

Rose-Tinted Ego

A short story about being in college

It didn’t matter how many hours Azul Ashengrotto spent studying, making review guides, listening to lecture recordings, or reading ahead in his textbooks; when it came to exam rankings, he was always in second place. All things considered, that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. To even have a chance at being admitted to the illustrious Night Raven College, one needed to be among the very best students in all of Twisted Wonderland (or have the money to afford the tuition, as some people did). Therefore, it was only natural that he’d find some of the biggest fish in his new pool. Azul’s own academic record was spotless, and as a young entrepreneur with an eye for investments and a thriving business, his future was bright. But the seaweed was always greener in someone else’s lake, and Azul wanted to know what it was like to be the best.

The day before winter break, Professor Crewel returned the class’s lab reports, based on their experiments on extracting poisons from the cyanide found in apple seeds. Professor Crewel had stood before the class, saying, “I’m thoroughly disappointed in this class. Do I need to keep a little jar of treats to condition you to follow every step of the rubric?”

Kalim Al-Asim had raised his hand. “Hey Prof, did anyone get an A?”

“A few did, but mostly because I pitied you useless hounds and knew you'd go home for the winter with your tails between your legs if I didn’t do otherwise.”

The air in the room felt deflated, as everyone felt their morale disappear from their stern teacher’s scolding. Unsure what to do, Kalim blurted out, “Um…did anyone get a perfect score?”

“Do I even need to say his name? Of course it was Riddle Rosehearts.”

Of course, Azul thought.

Although Azul would never show it, it irked him how that boy, Riddle, never failed to be first in every subject. Surely he had a weakness. Everyone did. Not only that, but Riddle had been Azul’s lab partner for this experiment, and they had shared experiment notes. They knew each other well enough. They both studied and worked like it was breathing. So why was one always better than the other?

Since poor Kalim had spoken up, Professor Crewel had picked him to pass out the graded lab reports to the respective students. When Riddle received his, he briefly glanced at their professor’s comments (which read “Good boy! A+!”), then turned it face-down and crossed his arms. Azul approached him.

“Hello, Rosehearts.”

“Ashengrotto,” he acknowledged.

“I just wanted to congratulate you on your perfect score, as always. As we completed the experiment together, I had a chance to witness your meticulous note-keeping and your impressive lab skills. I surely have a lot to learn from you.” Azul smiled as he spoke, but there was a sliver of contempt in his voice, and he wasn’t sure he could stop Riddle from hearing it.

Riddle nodded. “You, too, are excellent at applied alchemy. I seem to recall that you were the first in our class to successfully create a voice-stealing potion. Even I had a bit of trouble with that one, despite following every part of the instructions in the lab manual.” He sounded sincere enough, but Azul couldn't be sure.

Kalim came by with Azul’s own lab report, saying, “Wowie! A ninety-nine percent, Azul? That’s awesome! Octavinelle students are so smart!”

Azul looked at his lab report and found no notes indicating where the missing one-percent of his grade was. Riddle leaned over his shoulder and said, “Ah, the reason you’re missing a point is because of the font size. Professor Crewel stated at the beginning of the semester that he expects every typed lab report to be in twelve-point font, but yours appears to be in thirteen. It is also written in the syllabus.”

Are you serious?

“My mistake,” Azul adjusted his glasses and laughed to hide his irritation. “I must have enlarged the text as I was typing to read properly, and forgot to change it back. My eyesight on land is rather poor, as I may have mentioned in the past.”

Looking at him expectantly, Riddle said, “I’m sure you’ll do your best to remember it next time, instead of making excuses?”

“But of course.” The nerve of this guy! Who does he think he is?

Behind them, their classmate Ruggie Bucchi let out a snort. “Please, why are you guys being so dramatic over one point? It’s not a big deal.”

They both turned around, utterly aghast.

“Of course it’s a big deal!” Azul cried. “It’s the biggest deal!”

Somehow, Riddle was more upset. “Don’t you understand? Without my flawless grade point average, I’m nothing!”

Putting his hands up in defense, Ruggie said, “Okay, okay, I get it!”

Without my grades, I’m nothing.

Although Azul resented Riddle for always being a model student, he understood the sentiment. Maybe he even felt a twinge of sympathy for himーwho knew? The game of academic rivalry was laden with complicated thoughts. He placed his paper in a clear file, dropped it in his bag, and prepared for the next class.

Okay so this is just a House MD blog now huh? I mean sure, I'm okay with that. 😭

Chase... bless his heart he tries. He doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, so his candy is either something like Dr. Peter's Bitter Drops or it's not candy at all. That's right. Dr. Robert Chase hands out raisins, old people candy, and baby apples. The man is constantly getting egged or TP'd. (He got dumpsack'd during the Raisin Catastrophe, but he's pretty sure that one was actually House.) One year he just gave up and bought a dollar-store bag of cheap-ass party favors--plastic fangs, spider rings, and so many Halloween stickers. He ran out after an hour, so that's what he sticks with now.

Cameron buys "teacher" candy. Nothing great, but nothing as bad as Chase, either. Three kinds of lollipop (Dum-dums, Blow-pops, and Tootsie-pops) and those chalky American smarties. She avoids the bad reviews that Chase tends to get, but nobody's telling the other kids to go ring her doorbell, either.

Foreman just puts out a big bowl of tiny Hershey bars with a sign saying "TAKE ONE AND LEAVE" and like... maybe an angry pumpkin drawing? Nobody invites him to their Halloween parties, which is fine because he's staying in and watching old Dracula movies.

Omnomnom dehydrated apple chips are some of my favorite safe foods

Actually yk what I'll ramble about my sensory shit

So like I've loved spicy, bold flavours like hot cheetos, curry, buffalo wings, etc, and I'll never not accept them as a safe food.

Sometimes though my sensory needs just- change back and forth, like from "I will vomit if I eat avocado toast today" to "avocado toast is the only thing I will accept as breakfast today" which is I guess where audhd comes in. There are some foods that bypass all my shifting needs, like strawberries, dehydrated apples, hot cheetos, potato chips, and pasta (ESPECIALLY the bowties omg I love the bowtie pasta)

Aside from taste needs, sometimes I really REALLY need a tight hug, not because I'm having a rough day but just because my body really wants to be under pressure for like 4 seconds and then it's good, aND THEN IT SWITCHES TO "If my parents even just barely touch my hair I will die of the sudden itch and sometimes even pain"

Also florescent lights just kill me most of the time which is why I am very happy that most of my teachers don't have every light turned on in their classrooms

I need socks to walk anywhere around my house but I will have straight up insomnia if I wear them to sleep

I haven't ever gone fully non-verbal but when I talk I either have to repeat myself 4 times because of how quiet I'm mumbling, stutter too much to the point where I just restart my sentence after pausing, repeat a word when I didn't mean to (for example during a chapter review of Lord of the flies I said "Piggy and Piggy" instead of "Jack and Piggy" and I got laughed at D:) ORRRRR I NEED TO BE TOLD TO BE QUIETER BECAUSE I'M RAMBLING TOOFASTANDLOUDDD

I have two special interests: my OC lore, and Genshin Impact. My childhood special interest was- also my old OC lore (7 year old me had the amazing and magical story, ever so creatively named "the enchanted forest") that went on for like 4-5 years where I would always want to talk about it and think about it to sleep, aaaaaand My Little Pony (I'VE REWATCHED MLP AND NINJAGO BOTH LIKE AT LEAST 8 TIMES but I wouln't call Ninjago a special interest bc it was more of an on and off obsession-)

I do also have hyperfixations ofc and they usually last up to 2 months, pretty sure that lines up with the statistical average idk

Also sometimes I just need to- punch something with full force. I never get to though and Ik it'd feel great (I did throw a pillow like 5 times in a call with my friend when I was hyper though so like... I've been able to get that excitement out-)

I'm sometimes really slow or just straight up zone out mid-conversation which is frustrating on both ends

I have a wide and advanced vocabulary for my age but [read the prior paragraph on talking], I usually don't get to use it to it's full potential because of that issue .-.

(I just realized this whole rant about my stuff is gonna be perfect for if I can ever actually get diagnosed by someone yayyy)

Mom told me that as a 1-3 year old I never really played with my toys but just lined them up either by size or color (yk those like- tower thingies with the rings of differing sizes and colors? I always ordered them correctly just out of the need for it to look right)

When I was 5 this girl in Kindergarten had a sling on but it was a fancy bedazzled sling so I really wanted to feel the gems but she wouldn't let me and I got sad :(

I've always loved swings and those like- spider web climbing equipment, still do just because I like rocking around and being able to stretch and hang and maneuver around the differently angled bars/ropes on the spider web thing (SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THEY'RE ACTUALLY CALLED)

I also have this like- neck shaking and hand flapping tic/stim, sometimes it's uncontrollable sometimes it's a controllable urge, and when it's a tic it sometimes hurts or is just straight up excessive

Okay my mind is going blank now so buhbye this was super long if anyone read all of that- kudos to you, Idk why you would subject yourself to reading it all ok BYEEE

🪴 Potted plant emoji review 🪴

Apple: This plant grows gracefully in this beige pot made out of terracotta. The textures of the soil are harmonizing beautifully and so are the green shades of green of the leafs! 8.5/10 Maybe they are a baby.

Google: Planted in a red round pot, this emoji shows a different type of plant, which honestly is a nice breath of fresh air. 7/10

Samsung: I think the colour scheme works fairly well in this type of plant! Could use some water to grown them more and more. The pot is shaded confusingly, like it’s going back and forth, left to right. 7/10 love the amount of leafs.

Microsoft: I won’t hate these buddies. It reminds of a Children book. Do you know the kind of books our teachers used to give for vacation? This emoji is just as nostalgic as them. I think it’s a fairly simple sprout. 5/10

WhatsApp: Curious fact: I have dumbcanes at my house. I absolutely adore this emoji. Because the details are on point and the shading is just incredible. I have heard they are slightly toxic, which creeps me a little bit. 10/10 amazing emoji.

Twitter: Frankly. I love the shades of green that are manipulated to create this emoji. The cell shading makes me feel so-so but sometimes, you got to agree that some simple emojis can look really nice. 7/10 Google’s Look-alike?

Facebook: This emoji is absolutely ADORABLE. They are shaped like hearts. I would give this plant to my SO. These are blessed and I hope they grow until they become an absolutely SHOCKING tree. 11/10 For the win.

Twitter emoji stickers: love the pot’s texture. It looks like a generic 3d model that’s been used on Nintendo switch video games. These are cute and I hope they grow amazingly. 9/10 Love the shading and the smooth feelings.

Joypixels: Sure, there were emojis with a LOT of leafs, but this one took it a little too much. Anyways what’s bad about it? I think the stem is a little gross (I don’t mean disgusting) I like the shape of the leafs as they feel smooth and classy. 7/10 Would put these on my granny’s backyard.

TossFace: A little baby sprout! This is so cute. 2/10 Everything else is a little…. Uh?

Emojipedia: I feel like I have to say a lot of Emojipedia emojis since there are so many problems about them that it sort of annoys me since a lot of them look distorted versions of apple emojis. The plant is weirdly simetrical. It’s honestly a little scary because maybe this cursed plant came from a parallel world that every plant grows differently. The details on the leaf are weird, because the lines are a bit too thick. The center bugs me A LOT. It’s disturbing and dark. It’s like a leaf monster that haunts you at your garden at midnight. The pot is looking shiny, but is weirdly placed. 4/10 the soil is ok though.

Openmoji: A tiny palm tree? 2/10 because it’s as bad as TossFace.

week 1 of studying chinese everyday in january

so ive (kinda) started over with mandarin to learn traditional characters rather than simplified, which is what i learned in the CHN101 course at my community college

this is because i’ll hopefully be studying in taiwan over the summer and that is where most of my interest is plus traditional should somewhat help with japanese as well as if i wanna learn cantonese in the future

i didnt record what i did daily so heres a summary so far

- have gotten an okay handle on zhuyin, just need practice and to learn where each character is on apples zhuyin keyboard since the site i used to learn used something else. i do like the concept more than pinyin but some of the final combinations confuse me (more on that another day)

- started reviewing my integrated chinese textbook as thats what both my old and current college use as their class resources. i bought the fluencylink (e-learning) account this time instead of the physical textbook and i looove it, its interactive, contains all the audio/video to go along and gives immediate grades on each section you complete. i did buy the physical workbook just to have in class though.

- have been taking some online classes through LTL and despite signing up/paying for group classes every class ive taken so far has just been 1 on 1 (i take them at like 3 am so i guess other people just dont sign up for those times) and have been enjoying it! online classes and tutors have made me anxious in the past and prior to this my online mandarin teachers almost never corrected my tones which i hated but these are great! i definitely feel like my pronunciation has improved but i still have to work a lot on sentence flow and tone sandhi/combinations.

- scouring the internet for taiwanese shows/movies/youtubers etc to get a feel for the accent differences and just for some listening practice (if you have recommendations lmk)

- also been going crazy looking for apps and sites that offer traditional characters as most are made for simplified/standard mandarin. i have a few that i like so far but hope to find more. i like to have a textbook to guide me through and give me structure but also various other resources to learn things that interest me or that i’ll actually talk about in daily conversation.

overall feeling pretty good and pretty excited to finally get back to studying languages and traveling.

oh and!!! i have mostly finalized what my chinese name is with the help of the teachers i’ve had so far, hence the username change as well and it is … 昕霓 ! (xīnní) i havent chosen a last name tho as im not sure if i need one atm but if anyone has ideas as to what would sound good im open to suggestions.

if anyone would want it im more than happy to post what resources ive been using, and/or what media ive been watching/liking that use traditional characters since its definitely been a little more challenging to find it all. lmk !!
