#and Alhaitham was able to save Kaveh in turn

Text
I think the most amazing thing about Alhaitham's ironic question "How has realizing your ideals gone for you?" is that yes, on the surface, it pierced through the heart of Kaveh's feelings at the time and forced him to reflect on whether he still had enough belief to keep going, but--BUT--
This is also Alhaitham subtly asking: "Was your life better without me?"
Kaveh left their friendship because of his ideals.
Kaveh's attempts to realize his beliefs began in earnest during his argument with Alhaitham, who challenged him back then by suggesting that Kaveh didn't honestly believe in his ideals and was just pursuing them out of guilt and a desire to punish himself for his father's death.
Kaveh's attempt to "realize his ideals," therefore, spans the exact amount of time he and Alhaitham have been separated. When Alhaitham asks about Kaveh's attempts, he's asking very specifically about the course Kaveh's life took when he was no longer in it.
How did it go for you? Were you happier? Was it worth it?
I truly believe that Kaveh will be able resolve his conflict with Alhaitham--and come to understand Alhaitham's actual feelings--when he realizes that, in that exact moment, he should have turned the question around:
How did realizing your ideals go for you, Alhaitham?
Was your life better off without me?
No.

Baizhu
Doctor patient dynamic
Gentle hands rubbing your back constantly as your coughing fit seemed endless once again. "I-I don't think I'll be able to watch the next lantern right with you like I promised doctor Baizhu." You smiled through the pain, the said man sighing, "Stop doubting my abilities as a Doctor (Y/n). You'll get better." Running his hand through your hair as you layed down, exhaustion making your eyes droop close. "I'll make sure of it, my Little Violet."
Kaveh
Childhood friends to lovers
"Look what I made!" He looked up as you placed something on his head, one hand coming up to touch it, " A flower crown?" "Mhm. Just for you!" He blushed.
.
"I got you something Kaveh~" He turned to you from where he was writing his thesis, "(Y/n) how many times do I have to say you don't have to buy me art supplies. Um let me buy you lunch as repayment." He looked into your eyes with a gentle gaze as you hopped on the desk beside his papers, placing a box. "Too bad. I already made some for the both of us." "(Y/-" his words got cut short as you gently placed your finger on his lips, "shush Kaveh."
Al haitham
Academic rivals to lovers
"Ugh not again." You muttered under your breath as you looked at the list of top scorers. "Try harder. Maybe you'll be able to get a little better if you work on your gold fish attention span." A voice came as someone passed by, knowing very well who this person was as you sighed in irritation.
.
Soft clicks of shoes were the only echos in the house of daena as Al haitham made his way towards a bookshelf, his eyes falling onto a figure. He placed his book on the table gently, rounding the table, he placed the pen down from your hand as he placed his cloak on your shoulders, covering you to keep you warm as he pushed the hair away from your face. "Stop pushing yourself so hard."
Wanderer
Grumpy x Sunshine
"Oh c'mon would it kill you to come with me?" You pleaded as your partner kept ignoring your request, "There's no point in me going with you-" "I think you should go with them. It'll broaden your spectrum and give you a new way of looking at things." A gentle voice came as your eyes sparkled at the person. "See?! Even Lesser Lord Kusunali agrees with me!" "NOT YOU TOO " He yelled, grumbling. You pout, crossing your arms over your chest as you stood up, "I'll be leaving Lord Kusunali, since he doesn't want to go, I'll go and ask Cyno. I heard there's a new card back released there too, he'll be happy to come with me." Nahida blinked up at you as you started walking, observing how your frown turned into a sly smirk as soon as a hand gripped your wrist. "Not happening. I'm coming with you."
Cyno
Co workers to lovers
"Hmm how long do you think this water will last us here Cyno?" You eyed the big bag of water in your hand as you kept walking on the flaming sand in the middle of the desert, "It should last us till tonight. Don't worry, there's a village nearby, we can restock our supplies and get some well desserved rest." You looked at Cyno, unamused "Get it? It's because we're in a dese-" For the first time he cut himself from his explanation, you sighing as if the heavens saved you as he told you to stay put, going to converse with a group of eremites that were closeby. You took a seat in the shade of a giant rock. 'Wait, why is he coming back with a-' "Get on it. Your feet aren't used to the hot sand of the desert, they're already red from the external temperature, it'd be bad if they get blisters. I borrowed us this Sumpter Beast, we'll return this on our way back." Your face started getting warmer, whether it was because of the temperature of desert or your general Mahamatra, you didn't know.
Tighnari
Student teacher dynamic
"Ow!" A book came in contact with your head as you sat on the chair listening to your master's unending lecture. "So the next time I see you head into a withering zone all on your own, I'll be cutting down your sweets that you love so much." Your eyes widened at that, not your sweets! "What did my sweets ever do to you! Plus, I had it covered in the whithering zone!" Smack "Ouch! Stop hitting me-!" Your breath got caught in your throat as Tighnari placed his book under your chin, tilting it upwards as he brought his face close to yours, looking into your eyes, "Next time you won't be doing something so reckless. Okay my Lotus?"
Heizou
Undercover agent(you) to lovers
[ (C/n) -> cover name]
"I'm so sorry I wasn't looking where I was going!" You apologised to the young looking male. "Oh it's totally fine. Don't worry about it" He smiled, asking what your name was. "(C/n)" You replied, your smile widening when he asked if you'd like to go get a cup of coffee with him.
.
"Can you actually be serious for once Heizou?" You rolled your eyes as you kept walking through Chinju forest, sighing at your companion's carefree nature. He chuckled, " You want me to be serious huh?" You nodded," yes! It'd be- wa-!" Your sentence was cut off as your back hit a tree bark, your eyes leveling with none other than Heizou's himself. You shifted as he gazed at you in silence, noticing how he got much closer as each moment passed. His lips barely apart from your ear, he whispered, "Is this serious enough for you?.....(Y/n)."
Xiao
Eternal acquaintances to lovers
"You guys just loveee drawing on his face while he's sleeping don't you" you chuckled, feeling the cool breeze as other 4 yakshas drew little shapes on the face of the one sleeping. "Oh you know his expression is priceless whenever he finds out what we did!" Bosacius laughed.
.
"Do you ever know when to take a break?!" You were used to scolding him, and he was used to hearing it. A little too used to it. "Don't you smile when I'm here telling you to take care of yourself!"
.
Your eyes opened slowly, sounds of fireworks and a hand stroking your hair waking you up. You rubbed the haze out of your eyes, "Did they already start?" You pushed yourself up from what you thought to be ground, but lifting your head up you realised it was, "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to-" He shushed you, gazing down at you gently as his thumb stroked your cheek. Your face grew warm as you sat up to avoid his stare, only to be turned around, feeling his head on your shoulder, his breath on your neck sending shivers down your spine. "S-Shouldn't you watch the fireworks as well?" You stuttered out, not able to focus on the display yourself. He just sighed, tightening his grip around you.
Zhongli
Newly shifted neighbours to lovers
He was in the middle of pouring himself some freshly brewed tea when a knock landed on his door. Your head tilted upwards to look at the tall male. You didn't know what you expected your neighbour to look like but you certainly didn't think of this. He looked... ethereal. "Umm I just shifted here and please take this." You handed him a paper bag. He looked at it and then at you, smiling, "Grace me with your company over some tea?"
.
"You really don't have to stay up this late for me." You said apologetically to the man sitting beside you, helping you with your thesis you had to write last minute. "It's totally okay. So as I was saying, this part of Liyue------" this went on for hours until he saw you rubbing your eyes. He chuckled," Is Liyue's history that boring?" "Wha- no of course not! It's interesting. I've never thought Liyue had so much to it." You smiled. A large hand came up to cup your cheek, making you look at him, and suddenly you realised how close you two were sitting for all this time. "Sleep's evident in your eyes" he noted as your eyes became hazy with sleep, "I'll take you to bed. My little dove."
Albedo
Klee's babysitter to lovers
"Klee no bombing the fishes again!!" You said to the little girl, so done with her shenanigans for this week. The little girl pouted, looking down until an idea popped into her head, "Lets go see Albedo then!" She smiled.
.
The little ball of sunshine was sleeping peacefully in the corner of Albedo's lab wrapped in two blankets while you laid beside her, trying to fall asleep as well because you had nothing to do and there was nothing Albedo needed help with, but the cold was making it too difficult. Were you actually jealous of a little girl's pyro vision? Absolutely not. You don't know when you fell asleep, or rather, passed out.
'Oh. They're both sleeping peacefully.' He walked up to the two of you, quickly noting how your face looked a little pale. His fingertips touched your skin 'Cold' he thought.
The little girl was the first one awake," Albedo! I had this dre-" she cut herself short when she noticed her brother sleeping too...while holding you close to his chest. "Maybe Klee should sleep some more~!"
Razor
Pack members to lovers
The chase of two little pups continued in wolvendom until they reached Andreas, where they started their chase back to their destination, their minds on the piece of juicy meat the winner will get.
.
Some things never really change, like you and Razor having a game of chase. The difference is, however, he's chasing you this time and you two's size differences now that you've all grown up. You landed on the ground with a soft thud, your back hitting the soft grass as you saw Razor on top of you, his skin glistening in sweat as he gave you a cheery smile, "I won again (n/n)!" You playfully rolled your eyes, "Yeah yeah I get you're faster than m- eep-! Razor-!" You giggled, trying to move away as he started licking your face and neck. His hands tightened around your wrists," No running far anymore" He whined.
Chongyun
Strangers to lovers
"But I asked for that popsicle first!"
"And I saw it first!"
"I'm their regular customer!"
"Not like I have them once a year!"
.
You bit off a little chunk of Chongun's icy popsicle," Hey what did I say about no having my popsicle!" You laughed, getting closer to him all of a sudden," Well if you don't want to share this popsicle, I can always make do with the other one you have~" thump
Yes he fainted.
Diluc
[Childhood known] Bartender-owner relationship to lovers
"If you'd like, you can work at my tavern. I can use the help and you can use the money." A kind offer he made to his childhood neighbour when you came back from sumeru and needed a job, not wanting to stay away from your homeland.
.
A soft cry left your lips when a broken glass shard pricked your hand, you continued picking up the glass pieces the customer accidentally broke, ignoring the bleeding hand 'I'd have to mop the floor anyway.' A strong yet gentle grip pulled you up and towards the sink to wash and dress your wound, "Why'd you ignore it?" You bit your lip, not knowing how to answer. "Be careful next time." He sighed.
.
The number of people were relatively less today, maybe because of the windbloom festival, giving you an opportunity to relax and unwind with a drink yourself. The door opened as you turned your head to see who it was. "Ah master Diluc! Let me go get you some grape juice-" You were about to stand up when two arms caged you against the counter, leaning towards you," Stop calling me that. It's Diluc for you. Just Diluc."
Ajax
Contract marriage
'To stay with party A's family and take care of party A's siblings, treat A like a husband in front of A's family. The contract shall last for three years.'
Signed, (Y/n)
.
It's been 2 years since you signed that contract, staying with Childe's family wasn't bad, they all treated you very nicely and that a corner of your heart knew that your family was now out of bankruptcy because of this, you were content....for the most part anyway.
"Look who's home~!" A very excited Childe emerged through the main door, his servants taking away the bags he was carrying as he picked up Teucer. "I brought you Mr. Cyclopes figurine Teucer!" You smiled to yourself as you watched each of his sibling hug their older brother, used to watching the scene from afar at this point. What you didn't expect was him making his way up to you, his height towering over yours as you looked up at him confused, your face flushing as he pulled you closer to him by your waist, kissing your forehead, "How have you been my love?"
"G-Good." You stuttered out. All his siblings left the living room to give you two some privacy, happy to see the sight. He brushed the strands away from your face, looking into your eyes," Sorry about that. But I missed you. I don't know why, maybe because I look forward to seeing you now." Your eyes widened, "And... I want to take you with me the next time I leave. If you'll join me."
'Because It's not just a contract to me anymore (Y/n).' He thought.
Xingqui
Library crushes to lovers
Your eyes peeked over the book to look at the blue haired male, quickly hiding behind it again as his eyes fell on you. "Oh god please tell me he didn't see me." You muttered to yourself.
.
"The realm of humans was known as the Zhongzhou, while the gods reside in Shenxiao. At the end of-------" he kept explaining the plot of his favourite book, not like you weren't listening, but half your focus was on looking at him.
.
"Umm (Y/n). There's this new book shop that opened in north Liyue. Will you join me tomorrow?" Both your faces were warm when he said the words as you nodded shyly.
Itto
Oni dynamic
"Haha I won again! Take that (Y/n)!" The little oni jumped up as he came out victorious again. "Alright alright no need to rub it in the face Mr. Onikabuto."
.
"Do you really have to leave (Y/n)?" You nodded as tears pricked your eyes, hearing the sad tone from your oni friend who you've always heard cheery no matter the situation.
.
"As my great partner (Y/n) came back after years of staying in Natlan, they'll be joining the one and oni Arataki gang! Isn't that great!?" The said oni swung an arm around your shoulder as you ducked, "Your arm's heavy Itto!" "Of course it is I'm an Oni you know! You don't expect me to weigh like a twing do you?" He wiggled his eyebrows. "But boss should we trust them? I mean-" "Well of course! I know (Y/n) for agesss do you think I'll take just anyone into the great Arataki gang huh!?" He pointed smugly to himself as you sighed. Yup, he'll never change, and you won't have him any other way.
Kamisato ayato
Arrange marriage
Your eyes faced the floor of komore teahouse during the whole conversation of your father and the head of Kamisato Clan, accompanied with his sister and their most trusted servant. You saw the two Clan heads shaking hands from the corner of your eyes, knowing everything is sealed. You never even saw what your to-be husband looked like.
.
"Wouldn't you look at me even now (Y/n)?" Gentle voice of your soon to-be husband spoke as he held both your hands in his significantly bigger ones as the priest made preparations to start the wedding rituals. You swallowed nervously as you slowly looked up, your eyes falling on the mesmerizing lilac ones.
.
An arm wrapped around your waist from behind while the other one took away the hairbrush in your hand, placing it on the dresser as kisses were placed on your neck," My gorgeous wife." You closed your eyes, leaning your head back against his shoulder," Says the man who gave that word a meaning."
Bennett
Adventurer-medic to lovers
"Yup, bad luck again." You sighed as you bandaged his knee again. "I'm sorry (Y/n), for troubling you so much. I try to be careful but..." he rubbed the back of his head. "I know Benny, not your fault, just your luck." He nodded, giving you a thumbs up and a cheery smile as you finished bandaging his wound. "Butttt" you intergected when he was about to say something, "Nothing some tasty Chicken-Mushroom Skewers can't solve!" His eyes started sparkling the moment you said those words, making you giggle. "Yay let's go!"
Kazuha
Crew mates to lovers
"Wait up please!" You yelled to the ship that was about to leave the docks of Inazuma. You ran as fast as you could against the wooden planks 'Bad day to be wearing a Kimono damn it.' Apparently your voice wasn't loud enough for the Captain of The Crux to hear and your heart already started grimacing the loss of boarding the ship just a foot away as it started leaving. A sudden gust of wind lifted you up as your eyes closed shut in terror, the next time you opened them, you were on the ship, with nothing but a maple leaf in your hand.
.
You were leaning against the railing of the ship, looking at the vast ocean in fasination until a strong gust of wind passed, swaying your footing, almost tumbling you over but a hand to your wrist pulled you back just in time before it could happen. Your breath was caught in the throat due to the event, and because of the stranger with platinum hair and ruby eyes that saved your life. He was.... breathtaking. "Careful, the wind can be flickering unexpectedly once in a while. It's a vast ocean after all." He smiled.
Venti
Troublemaker and muse
You raised an eyebrow as your beer fell off the table, a person climbing on it instead. You looked up to see who it was, silently grimacing over your spilled beer. "Are you gonna pay for my beer or not" you said looking up at him while he ran his fingers along the lyre, "I'll pay you back with my wonderful performance~!" You sighed in irritation.
.
Your form busted through the tavern's door in the middle of the night, scanning over your surroundings before your eyes landed on the mop of green you were looking for. You swiftly made your way over, carrying the windy bard over your shoulder like a potato sack as you slid a pouch of mora in master Diluc's direction with an apologetic smile. "Put me downnnn I wanna kiss you!!" He whined on your shoulder as your face matched Master Diluc's hair.
Thoma
Ayaka's best friend
"Here let me help you with that." He took the heavy looking bags from your hand just as you entered the Kamisato estate. "Ah thank you Thoma." You smiled at him.
.
"I'm also inviting (Y/n)." Ayaka spoke to her brother over supper and Thoma couldn't help but chime in," If they're coming, It'd be great if I can make their favourite dish." Ayaka and Ayato gave each other knowing looks as Thoma looked between them, confused, "Did I say something wrong?"
.
"I'm sure (Y/n) could use some help for this event. I hand this task to you Thoma." Said Ayaka as she gently pushed him into a room and slid the door closed so he couldn't escape. "Thoma it's you-!" You squeaked, surprised by the sudden entrance. "Y-Yes Lady (Y/n). Lady Ayaka said I should help you if you were to face any difficulties. So do you need any assistance?" He scratched the back of his head. Your eyes fell onto the kimono belt in your head and then at him, your cheeks warming, "N-No it's fine." He wordlessly came towards you, taking the fabric from your hand, silently waiting for you to turn around as permission. You did, your breath getting caught in your throat as you felt his hands do their work, his hot breath hitting the back of your neck. A few moments passed, your head becoming lightheaded with each second until he did the final knot, whispering in your ear, "It's done, my princess."
Gorou
Subordinates to lovers
"Bear with it" you said as you poured the disinfectant over your commander's bleeding gash. He suppressed a hiss as you blowed on the wound in hopes to make it feel less burning. "Can you be more careful Gorou? There was no reason for you to come in front of me to stop that arrow!" You glared at him. "Your mother entrusted you to me (Y/n)" he tried reasoning. "As if Lady Kokomi didn't tell me to bring you back safe and sound!" He just chuckled at that.
.
You were laying down on the make shift infirmary's bed when a very happy Gorou emerged through the door, out of breath as if he ran all this way (yes he did) "(Y/n)! We did it! The war's over!" He ran over to you and hugged you tightly, you noticing how his tail was swaying back and forth. You chuckled. "I'm so happy (Y/n)! I can finally ask your mother for your hand in marri-" Your eyes widened.
"Oh god i shouldn't have said it like that- (Y/n)? (Y/n)?! Oh god don't faint-!"
Mhm, franatic Gorou is pretty cutee~
Kaeya
Fake dating
"Oh~, who is this pretty person beside you Kaeya?" Lisa ask, intrigued. "My partner." Kaeya smiled.
That was five months ago.
.
You two sawyed from side to side to the silent beat of the music as you looked at him, "So when is your 'target' arriving Kaeya? It's been 4 hours." "Oh don't worry. He'll be here soon enough. My brother can be a little late. He is returning to Mondstadt after months after all." He replied, looking into your eyes just as the venue's door opened to reveal the said man. In the blink of an eye, Kaeya's face was buried in the crook of your neck, " The hell are you doing?!" You whisper yelled at the man, not knowing what he was up to now. If you knew something about Kaeya, it was his unpredictable mind. "Just making sure my brother believes this of course. He has very keen eyes for lies you see. I want to prove to him that I can infact find an adequate partner for myself." "You sure it's not because of that 5 dozen wine bottles he put at stake." "That's just an added bonus!" He smirked as he rose up to his full height, taking your chin in between his finger and thumb, bringing your face closer to his, " Plus, Who knows? I might actually persue it to make it real."
Neuvillette
Second chance [mates][immortal reader- non specified species]
"I'll wait for you" said the man you loved so dearly with a solemn look in his eyes. "Don't" was all you said before you departed to the underworld, having not done anything wrong yet having no choice.
.
A hundred years passed since your own lover sealed your verdict, your heart wrenching with pain each time you think of it. 'He had his reasons. It's for the sake of fontaine.' Your heart longed for the hydro dragon, but you've made your heart think that 'He must have wanted this.'
.
The day finally came when you reached the surface again, and what you didn't expect was to see him waiting at the entrance. "Neuvillette...." You whispered, your eyes trying to drink back the tears they started producing on their own. The said man walked towards you in slow strides, his mind detached from his surroundings except you. Strong arms engulfed you in a delicate embrace, cradling you against his chest as if you were made of porcelain. And as much as your mind told you to pull away, your hands only gripped him tighter, crying against him. A few moments passed when you looked up at him, " Where's your partner?" Your heart broke as you asked that question, but you needed to know. "Right in front of me." He whispered. It was hard for you to believe him, you expected him to move on. "Did you forget.." he started, his lips placing a delicate kiss on the corner of your lips," That dragons mate for life?"
Wriothesley
Classic Husband x Wife
As soon as you stepped foot into your husband's office, the door being shut behind you, you heard fumbling noise. You made your way up the rounded stairs, crossing your arms over your chest as you made your way over to him, "Don't tell me you're drinking tea again Wriothesley." You narrowed your eyes at him. "No of course not. Why would I drink more when you set a boundary of 7 per day" he chuckled. "Oh?" You raised an eyebrow, leaning against his desk as you wiped the corner of his lips," What's this then?" You showed him the sugar powder on your fingertip. He chuckled nervously, "You see-"
.
Gentle kisses across your face is what woke you up, your hand tightening against the fabric....wait. You looked up and around you, realising you're in Wriothesley's office and in his lap, clutching onto his shirt. He softly kissed your forehead," Morning sunshine. Ready to go to the surface today?"
Lyney
Opposites attract
"Well someone looks a little out of it on a fine day like this." Your footsteps came to a halt as a guy stopped in front of you. His hand came up and passed by the side of your hair," Let me make it a little better" he chuckled as he pulled a rose 'out of your hair.' It was pretty, you thought taking it from him and giving him a small smile,"Thank you."
.
You pulled him along with you by his ear gently while he tried keeping up with your pace," I was just entertaining them!" He reasoned as you continued walking," You were clearly still there when they told you they didn't wanna see your tricks." "But it looked like they could use some help!" He whined. "Not everyone deserves you lifting up their spirits Lyney." You sighed. "Well, I can always lift your spirits up. If you know what I mean." Bonk
Freminet
Fated divers
Your hands splashed the water around you as oxygen depleted at a fast rate from your body, you tried tugging on the vines tightly wrapped around your foot in hopes to break them but they won't let up. You extended your arms up in an attempt to swim back to the surface but it was becoming harder by the second. It wasn't long before black dots started covering your vision and you started sinking further down.
Your eyes open with a start, the endless water still surrounding you but there was a stranger, with his lips on yours.
.
"Hey there Freminet~!"
"Oh hi (Y/n)" he gave you a small smile, looking up from where he was tinkering with clockwork. "I got you Seabird Sojourn!" You smiled as you sat beside him, looking closely at the details of his doing. You took his hand into yours, making his freckled cheeks blush a pink hue," Let's eat first before it gets cold."

Tumblr media
Alhaitham ✧ Duke of North
✧ I think he would fall under the stereotype of a person who cares but you'd have to wait to notice it. Alhaitham, after taking over the rule of the land of Sumeru for a short time and then handing it over to someone else, would be seen as someone who was not up to the challenge. It wouldn't be true but he wouldn't care what people thought of him. That's why he would end up in the not so famous and welcoming North, cold and far from people, which in his opinion was the best place.
✧ If you came to his castle with the prospect of concluding a marriage arrangement in the future, he would consider it in pragmatic terms. He would need someone with a more optimistic outlook on life than him and who wouldn't be put off by the initial coldness, even though he wouldn't be aware of it at first. He would believe in a political marriage until he would truly fell in love with you. You could count on Kaveh (an extremely annoying friend in Duke's opinion) in winning Alhaitham's heart.
✧ You would be impressed by his intelligence. He would certainly run his dukedom with dignity. You could expect dates in the gigantic library and hours spent in his company poring over ancient manuscripts. Until you accidentally get attacked by monsters and then it turns out that he can also fight with a sword and act like a prince from fairy tales.
Tumblr media
Pantalone ✧ Rich CEO
✧ Pantalone would be that one rich man about whom the press would always write and children would make presentations in schools about his career path. In interviews and the media, he would have a wide smile on his face that would make you squint and only his business rivals would know what he really was like.
✧ You would meet at one of the numerous banquets. You would have to be a person of incredible cleverness to even be able to negotiate with him on business matters. In addition, you would have to figure everything out on your own, because according to his experience, he would rather not do business with someone who inherited everything from others. Once you were offered a deal to get rid of your shared competition, you would start spending more time together.
✧ Crystal chandeliers, expensive drinks and long dresses. What was supposed to be just a fling would turn into a feeling fueled by the desire to be close. The wedding would be a massive event and you can be sure it would be done quite quickly but at the same time he would have thought it through carefully.
✧ I think that Pantalone would be the type of man who would jump over his wife at home and spoil her a lot, preparing new surprises and outside to the media he would only show your poker faces and successes. Power couple for sure.
Tumblr media
Zhongli ✧ Reincarnation
✧ Zhongli's longevity would cause him pain and suffering over the years. He would be that eternally young man who would look for you in every life of his and so on for centuries. This would require him to have a lot of knowledge but with each piece of information comes a lot of experiences and not always pleasant ones.
✧ You would have been cursed long ago and sentenced to death. To save you, he would make a contract with you that you would live forever. However, this comes at a high price. You wouldn't remember any of your previous incarnations and you would be different in each life. He couldn't explain anything to you. Interestingly, Zhongli would truly love every version of you, no matter how different they were and would always somehow recognize you.
✧ Many times he promised himself that he would stop and avoid you to spare himself the pain but in the end he never succeeded. Even if it was at the end of your life, he would show up sooner or later. He spends years trying to bend the rules of his own contract and each time he hopes that he will succeed in this life.
Tumblr media
Kirara ✧ Neko
✧ Kirara would be that always busy girl who would accidentally be in the wrong place at the wrong time. She would work for a courier company and once be late with a shipment. Just once. To make matters worse, the parcel would supposed to go to a fortune teller and she would curse her. At first everything would be normal and she would go on with another delivery. From which she would never come back because she became a cat!
✧ In this condition, she would arrive at your door. A parcel and a kitten with it. You didn't have the heart to leave her. You would take her in with the intention of giving her to a shelter but you would feel too sorry for her. Especially since from the very beginning she seemed very strangely intelligent for an animal.
✧ In time, her speech would return and she would be able to tell you a little about herself. At times she would turn back into a human with ears and sometimes with a tail. One thing was certain, whatever the fortune teller did to her, her condition would only get worse if she was away from you.
✧ You would spend a long time trying to understand her situation. After time, it would turn out that the key to breaking the curse, like in all stories, was love.

Kaveh first met you in the middle of the night, in a shadowed corner of Alhaitham’s kitchen.
He hadn’t noticed you, at first. It’d been closer to sunrise than sunset, and he was still rubbing his eyes as he dragged himself towards his roommate’s pantry, intent on raiding anything Alhaitham had to offer before collapsing back into bed, or more likely, onto a half-finished model of some wealthy’s scholar next personal research facility. He made it to the cabinet door before his exhaustion-dampened senses picked up on the sound of soft breathing, the feeling of a burning stare prying into the back of his neck.
He glanced over his shoulder, expecting to find nothing save for an empty room, but instead, he found you.
Standing in the kitchen’s entryway, clutching a clay mug in both hands, seemingly paralyzed with unfounded terror. Your lips were parted, but you didn’t say anything, and your eyes were so wide – blown out like a doe caught in an archer’s sight. For a second, he thought you might be an intruder, a thief sent after Alhaitham’s precious Akademiya secrets or the few scraps of mora Kaveh had to his name, but that wouldn’t have made sense. Wise thieves didn’t tend to break into the homes of their marks barefoot, nor were they usually dressed in strikingly familiar black poet’s shirts, just a little too big and a little too well-worn to have originally belonged to you.
No, you weren't a thief. His life would've been so much simpler, if you had only been a thief.
Eventually, he managed to regain his confidence, forcing an easy grin as he rubbed the back of his neck. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know Alhaitham had a…” He trailed off, looking over you one more time, noting the pallid state of your skin, the hollowness sewn deep into your cheeks. Your knees were locked together, as if you weren't sure you had the strength to remain standing, and it appeared as if someone with far too much confidence and far too little skill had attempted to take a comb to your tangled hair, only to lose their nerve less than halfway through. His lighthearted tone significantly more strained, he went on. “I didn’t know we had a houseguest.”
You continued to stare, unblinking. His smile faltered. “I apologize if I startled you. It’s just- I didn’t hear you come in, and I honestly didn’t think Alhaitham would be able to bring someone hope, let alone such a lovely specimen.”
Your voice was quiet, when you finally spoke, almost hoarse. As if you hadn’t used in a few days. “I… I’ve been here for a while.”
Oh.
Well.
He wasn’t quite sure what to make of that.
With nothing else to do, he laughed, closing the cabinet door. You didn’t move, but he let his shoulder press against the closest wall as he slid past you. He didn’t look back, but he offered a slight wave, calling out as he started towards his bedroom. “Goodnight, honored guest. May I be lucky enough to see you in the morning.”
It was barely audible, a breath above a whisper, but it was there, as clear as day in the dead silence of silence of Alhaitham’s flat.
“Goodnight.”
~
A week passed before he saw you again. He tried to brush off your brief interaction as that of a very tired man and a very startled guest, but the sound of your voice lingered in the back of his mind. He almost asked Alhaitham about it, but trying to pry information out of someone like him was a fool’s errand, and Kaveh opted to brew quietly rather than pursue a path he knew would only end in frustration.
He managed to put the encounter behind him completely. Or, rather, he almost managed to. He was so, so close to managing to.
Alhaitham was at his desk, his chair pushed back and turned partially towards the doorway where Kaveh stood. You were in front of him, on your knees and resting your cheek against the inside of Alhaitham’s thigh. In one of his hands, he grasped a quill, still scrawling away at whatever documents a scribe would feel the need to bring home, and with the other, he toyed with the fabric collar wrapped around your next, forest-green and tight enough to visibly cut into the skin of your throat. It matched the rest of your ensemble, if the scraps of silk and velvet dotted over your form could be called an ensemble. It did not escape Kaveh that, both times he had seen you, you had been dressed in Alhaitham’s colors, but he attempted to ignore the implications.
“Do you need something?” Alhaitham called, never looking away from his work. For as few boundaries as there were in their relationship, Kaveh rarely let himself into Alhaitham’s personal spaces unannounced, and he thought Alhaitham’s reaction would’ve been more… more. It wasn't as if he'd never lost his patience with Kaveh before.
He did need something, but he couldn’t seem to remember what it was. He couldn’t seem to tear his attention away from you, from the exposed skin of your plush thighs, the curve of your midriff. You appeared somewhat unlike you had been when he first saw you - healthier, more lively. The ghastliness had faded, and while you didn't seem much stronger, you were no longer struggling just to stay upright. He may have been relieved, if he'd known you a little better. If you hadn't been sitting at Alhaitham's feet.
Rather than demanding to know if Alhaitham would be attending Tighnari’s next open lecture on medicinal plants or what tragedy had befallen his favorite cast-iron pan, he found himself asking, “Who’s that?”
A small, uncharacteristic smile tugged at the corner of Alhaitham’s lips. He paused his work just long enough to turn towards Kaveh, his fingers slipping under your collar and drawing you upward. You seemed… unsteady, swaying as you staggered to your feet, but your legs didn’t have time to fail you. Wrapping an arm around your waist, Alhaitham pulled you onto his lap, perching you on his thigh like some pet songbird, trained to sit on its master’s shoulder. Your face was quickly buried in his chest, but that wasn’t enough to hide you from him. He was still able to see the dull flush that spread across your cheeks, the way your mouth never seemed to fully close.
There was something about your eyes, glossed over and shadowed, the color of your irises duller than it should’ve been. If Alhaitham felt anything was wrong, concern did not penetrate the mask of thick condescension he was never seen without. If anything, he’d only grown more smug, more eager to flaunt what he had and Kaveh did not. “Your other roommate. They moved in a few months before you did.”
Kaveh’s frown deepened. “There’s only two bedrooms.”
Alhaitham’s smile grew wider. “How observant.”
“If you’re going to lie, you should at least pay me the decency of coming up with something halfway plausible. I’ve been here for—” He scoffed, jerked his head to the side. “I would’ve known if there was some else staying here. Unless you kept them, I don’t know, locked in the cellar or something.”
There was a beat of silence. Alhaitham’s expression didn’t change, but you flinched, shrinking into his chest.
Kaveh felt something tighten in the back of his throat. “You didn’t.”
“Only for a while. Their behavior was getting out of hand – some time in a less stimulating environment was called for.” He shrugged, leaning back in his seat. “I’m not holding them hostage, if that’s what you’re worried about. You’re welcome to poke around for any chains and shackles you might think I have, if you’d like to. Or…” He trailed off, letting a hand fall to the tender gap between your shoulder blades. “Why don’t you tell Kaveh how much want to be here, dearest?”
It took you a long moment to stir, another to lift your head. You looked towards Alhaitham, visibly unsure, and he offered a slight nod, a palm pressed into your back. “I love you,” you managed, the words drawling together. You paused, blink slowly, then scrambled to correct yourself. “I mean, I love it. I want to be here. Is that what I’m supposed to say?”
“Word for word. You did very well, beloved.” There was no shame, no fear of scandle - just a squeeze to your side by way of reward. With more than a degree of relief written across your expression, you collapsed back onto Alhaitham, visibly exhausted by the exertion it took to speak. “See? I’m only trying to look after my ‘houseguest’, if that’s what you’re going to call them.”
There was no threat, no challenge, but that was part of what made Alhaitham such a frustrating man to deal with. He’d start a debate, and then act as if he had no interest in winning his opponent over, as if he was simply stating well-known truths of the world and never had any intention on sparking disagreement. Kaveh, while still far from immune, had grown a tolerance to the constant probing. Most days, he could walk away, turn his back to the conversation and vent his frustration to those who were similarly familiar with Alhaithaim’s innate unpleasantness, but this was something less frivolous than a dispute on the merits of ink versus charcoal as writing implements during field investigations. He wouldn’t be blamed for getting the matra involved. He wouldn’t be wrong for calling outside attention to the ongoings inside of their little flat.
And yet…
And yet, he could only seem to shy, to shake his head, as if he was only exasperated with the antics of his stoic roommate. Without another word, he stepped back and shut the door, admittedly with a little more force than he absolutely had to use. You weren’t hurt (although, there were several faded bruises blossoming along the curve of your neck that he would only remember later on, lying away in bed, staring at the ceiling as something began to burn under his skin), and you didn’t seem to actively be in danger, for whatever an architect’s instincts were worth on matters of life and death. Immediate action was unnecessary. It could wait a little longer, before he reported Alhaitham to the highest authority he could find.
He could wait a little longer, before he decided whether or not to give you away.
~
And he did wait. He waited days, then weeks, then longer – long enough for Alhaitham to grow less careful with you, to let you wander the flat freely when he was home and leave the door to his bedroom unlocked while he wasn’t. It didn’t take him much longer to grow less careful with Kaveh, either. He hadn’t heard you make a sound for months, but you seemed to be by his side constantly, now, your muffled voice slipping through the thin walls between Alhaitham’s bedroom and his own at all hours of the night. That was the most frustrating part, really, worse than Alhaitham’s condensation, worse than seeing you in greens and blacks and silvers. You were so close to him, and yet, he couldn’t seem to help you.
No matter what he tried, he just couldn’t seem to want to.
That frustration, that gnawing self-loathing might’ve been why he found himself at Alhaitham’s door, once again, much more hesitant than he had been last time. There was no reason to be. Alhaitham was out, tending to matters far, far outside of the city, and Kaveh knew he wouldn’t return until tomorrow morning. He’d take his time, if Kaveh was lucky.
He wouldn’t come back at all, if Kaveh was truly fortunate.
With a deep breath, he shut his eyes and turned the knob, shouldering open Alhaitham’s door before he could let his anxiety overtake him. His eyes landed on you immediately, despite his efforts to ease himself into your company. You were lying on the center of Alhaitham’s bed, on your back, your knees bent and your head spilling over the foot of the mattress. There was a book at your side, but you weren’t reading. Your attention was focused solely on a small window built into the opposing wall, the view little more than the bare brick wall of another building and a few stray tree branches, surprisingly barren considering the seasons. It wasn't much, but he could imagine it was better than what the cramped, unlit cellar had to offer - should he choose to take Alhaitham's implications at face value.
Your eyes flickered towards him as he stepped through the doorway, as he moved to approach you, but any panic you might’ve felt was muted, not so much suppressed as it was trained out of you. It reminded him of a stone house built in the heart of the desert and left without the proper means to defend itself, reduced to scrap by a constant barrage of wind and sand. The comparison made the architect within him ache while the artist continued to purr.
You opened your mouth, but it took you a moment to find what you wanted to say. You were clearly more lucid than the last time you’d crossed paths, but there was still something weighing you down, a bleariness to your gaze, a lull to your words that didn’t seem completely conscious. “You’re Kaveh, right?”
His name rolled off of your lips like rose petals and red wine and bitter chocolate. He had to force himself to swallow, to smile. To soften himself in a way Alhaitham had never cared enough to try to.
“Right.” He positioned himself on the edge of Alhaitham’s bed, just a little less than arm’s length away from you. He took a deep breath, steeling himself, then with no small amount of care, laid his hand over yours, tightening his hold when you tried to pull away.
“I don’t think we’ve really had a chance to talk.”

Tumblr media
✧ tighnari.
for tighnari, being the "chief officer of forest rangers" comes with a lot of responsibility, an example being informing the rangers of the route for patrol and any threats they could face along the way. that's why, when you find your beloved stood infront of a group of eager men and women, you're hardly surprised.
you sneak closer to them, listening in on the instructions your beloved was giving, but not paying attention to a single word said; instead, relishing in the smooth sound of tighnari's voice. it was so calming and so soothing; he was always able to relax you from just a few words... and that's when you decided, you wanted to hear it "more up close"
the "plan" had been created, and it was a simple one at that; you knew tighnari always left his weapons at home while instructing the team for some unknown reason, but would always have to come back to collect them before setting off. you thought you'd be helpful and bring them to him instead, it would save him the unnecessary trip, after all.
despite a couple doubts crossing your mind, you decided to follow through with your "plan", rushing back home to collect his bow, trying your best to be as quick as possible so that you don't miss your chance; and luckily, you didn't.
arriving back at the meeting grounds, you make your way over to tighnari, being sure to approach him from behind. setting his bow aside, you waved at the rangers who waved back enthusiastically, leaving tighnari to wonder: "who are they all waving at? me?"
he lifts his arm to wave awkwardly, only for you to grab hold of him, squeezing him tightly around his waist and pressing tender kisses behind his ears.
"you forgot your bow again, love"
you whispered, a rosey hue tinting his cheeks as his eyes widened in embarassment. instinctively, tighnari wraps his tail around you, his soft fur tickling your skin slightly. you smile to yourself, just imagining how brightly he must be blushing; having about a dozen people watching an intimate moment he'd much rather keep private, or atleast away from an audience.
"i have a question regarding the-"
"any questions will be discussed another time, dismissed"
he hurriedly shoos the forest rangers away, making up excuses such as "there are matters i must attend to" and even "those things don't concern you, now please take your leave". he acted all angry when he turned to face you, but archons, he looked adorable.
"now what do you think you're up to, hm? hugging me like that infont of all the rangers?"
"i can tell you aren't mad, 'nari"
you can read him like a book, knowing exactly how he acts when he tries to hide how flustered he is; how he attempts to harden his exterior but gives in within seconds.
"i- i never said i was i just... don't you- i-"
he sighs, admitting defeat as he burries his face in the crook of your neck. you feel his hot breath against your shoulder as he murmurs:
"i hate you"
"i love you too"
✧ kaeya.
you walked to the cat's tail with a spring in your step, excited to see kaeya after spending more than a week apart. you'd been on a long expedition to liyue and had only just gotten back to mondstadt, not bothering to drop your belongings off at your house but instead hauling them along with you; unable to wait any longer to see your beloved (and silently praying he'd offer to help you carry them to your place)
after what felt like an hour of walking, you finally made it to your destination, shoulders sore from having to carry your bags instead of loading them onto a cart like you had when travelling to the nation of contracts.
poking your head into the tavern, you could see kaeya sat at one of the tables alone, watching out of the window, as if he was waiting for something, or someone... that's right, you!
you watch him carefully, waiting for the perfect moment to strike, and there it was: he'd gotten up from his seat, suppossedly to order a drink at the bar, and attempt to avoid the black cat and his... friendly translator; being invited to play a game of genius invocation tcg was the last thing he wanted.
dropping everything and leaving it in a pile at the front door, you practically throw yourself inside and run towards kaeya, his back now turned to you as he walks back to his table.
"[name]? archons, you scared me, i almost dropped my drink!"
refusing to let go, the two of you awkwardly waddle to the window, wanting some peace and quiet away from the taverns other patrons.
"someone's a little friendly today, hm? you miss me that much?"
"well if you don't want my attention, i can just let go..."
you tease, slowly but surely loosening your grip on his waist and sliding your hands to his sides. without warning, he grabs hold of your hands and wraps them back around him, holding them in place firmly, caressing your palms with his thumbs.
"i never said let go! wait... do you... not want to hug me anymore?"
here comes the show... kaeya would gasp dramatically, clutching at his chest as if he'd been struck by lightning, or something even more theatrical.
"do you not love me anymore?"
it never ends. he keeps building on it, acting hurt by your actions, more-so physically than mentally despite you having injured him being nothing to do with the "plot". only when you spin him around in your arms and press your lips against his does he finally stop talking, melting into the kiss as his mind goes completely blank. he'd pull away panting for air, his eyes glazed over with pure adoration.
"i love you"
"i love you moreee"
you're basically asking for it at this point.
"you love me more than i love you? impossible! preposterous! disgraceful! outrag-"
"i'm going to magically fall out of love with you in a minute if you don't-"
"i'm only kiddinggg, you're so fun to tease"
he brings one of your hands up to his lips and kisses it softly with a big grin plastered on his face; oh how he loves to wind you up, and secretly, you love it too.
"i do love your hugs though, and i really did miss you so... please hug me again?"
✧ albedo.
it's been hours since you'd last seen albedo, and though only a few hours doesn't sound too long, it felt like an eternity. it was all too often he'd hide away up in dragonspine, working tirelessly on his latest experiments and not taking any time for himself, and it worried you. that being said, you decided to come up with a plan to distract him, and a hug from behind sounded like the perfect idea...
you creep into his campsite, waiting for the perfect moment to throw yourself onto him.
"3... 2..."
you whispered to yourself, counting down the seconds before you could finally hold your beloved once more, missing his gentle touch; and you were more than just eager.
"1!"
excited, you jog up to him and wrap your arms tightly around him, but feeling him jolt so harshly made you slightly concerened...
"woah! careful, careful!"
panicked, albedo sets down the equipment in his hands as quickly as he can, worried he'd drop or injure you with them. he lets out a sigh of relief once they're out of the way, moving his hands ontop of yours and loosening your grip so that he could turn to face you. hands now resting on your waist, he looks at you with a stern expression.
"[name], what did i tell you about hugging around my experiments?"
"i know, i know, i just missed you and thought if i hug you from behind i wouldn't be getting in the way"
"i-... technically you're right, but you gave me quite the scare nevertheless, it could've caused an explosion if we were to have fallen. what kind of lover would i be if i were to put you in danger?"
"i'm sorry, 'bedo, i didn't mean to-"
he sighs, noticing the way he was being slightly too hard on you; all he wanted was to keep you safe. he'd never forgive himself if you were to be injured from one of his experiments, which is why he always to extra precautios when it came to you.
"i know, it's alright, my love, i'm just glad you didn't get hurt"
he leans towards you, reaching both hands up to cup your cheeks, squeezing them gently before giving you a soft kiss on the lips. he doesn't take his eyes off of you, pulling away from the kiss only to look into your eyes, his own filled with the purest love. you could get lost in them for hours, admiring how all the different hues work together so perfectly to create the most beautiful shade of blue.
"i know you were probably hoping to spend some time together, but... i really have to get this done, honey, i'm sorry"
"that's ok, i just want to be with you..."
"... then stay, hold onto me from behind, ok? just make sure you-"
"-don't touch anything, i've got it"
and so you hung onto albedo, almost like a sloth, slowing down his movements ever so slightly, but he didn't mind, nor did he mention it. he'd apologise whenever he accidentally stood on you foot, even though he wasn't applying much pressure in the first place, being purposefully light on his feet as to not hurt you. every now and then, he'd take hold of one of your hands, bringing it up to his lips and kissing it so gingerly before setting it back down onto his waist.
sure, it wasn't the most romantic scenario, but you couldn't care less; all you wanted was him, to hold him, to feel his warmth against you, to know he was there...
✧ alhaitham.
"'haithammm"
you call out, wondering into his study, half expecting him to be elsewhere, but being pleasantly surprised when you find him sat comfortably in his arm chair. (like an old man)
"yes, darling?"
a soft smile creeps onto your face as you slowly make your way towards him; you just can't help it. even when he is doing almost nothing, alhaitham never fails to charm you, to make you smile like an idiot from a single glance.
"will you tell me that story again? the one about the dr- oh! sorry i didn't realise you were busy-"
you apologise profusely, turning to leave but only being able to take a few steps before alhaitham grabs your arm and drags you back towards him, almost pulling you over the arm of his chair
"love, it's ok, i'm not busy, i can tell you stories whenever you'd like to hear them"
"that's ok, how about you tell me about that book instead?"
you smile down at him sweetly before taking a look at the cover of his book; the gold lettering complimenting the brown leather perfectly.
"darling, you don't have to pretend to be interested, i can t-"
"no, no, please, tell me what you're reading! i like hearing you talk about your books"
he blushes slightly, his slightly widened eyes flicking back to the pages of the novel within an instant, wanting to avoid any possible eye contact.
"well, if you insist... this book is about how two-"
listening carefully, you move behind him, resting your hands on his shoulders before sliding them down his upper arm before dragging them across his chest. your hands meet near the middle, intertwining with eachother and resting against alhaitham's pounding heart.
"everything ok?"
you tease, knowing well how flustered this makes him, enjoying how he stuggles to keep a hold of himself.
"i- as i was saying... this book here is about two young lovers, how they met, and how they will someday grow old together and see the beauties of the world beyond life hand-in-hand... quite a precious story if i do say so myself, wh-"
you stand in shock, scanning over the open pages to make sure the story he's explaining is truly the one held in his hands; to your surprise, it was.
"wait wait wait, 'haitham... you are reading a romance novel?!"
"is that so surprising?"
"never in my life did i think alhaitham, the akedemiya's scribe who seems only interested in facts and figures, would be reading books about romance"
"well, dare i say you've rubbed off on me, love"
"i- i have?"
"why of course you have, every empty moment is filled with you, my love. see,"
he gestures to the pieces of - what looks like - paper sticking out of the book in various places, each one seemingly marking a significant moment in the plot.
"-even this book reminds me of you, all these little tabs represent thoughts of mine, these purple ones are thoughts of you, of us"
much to your disbelief, almost every single tab - par one or two - is coloured a shade of purple, you can even spot a couple of hearts peeking out from inbetween the pages. each section that was sticking out had the words "i love you" carefully written on them, written in his fancy handrwiting rather than what you refer to as his "scribe mode handwriting"
you squeeze him tighter, touched by how head over heels he was for you, nuzzling your face into the crook of his neck and planting soft kisses on along his shoulder and below his jaw. you wanted to show just how loved you felt in that moment, and how loved you wanted him to feel too. little did you know, alhaitham was a blushing mess; his face a vibrant hue of pink, his mouth forming words but not being able to force any of them out.
"i love you so much, 'haitham"
"i- i love you, [name]"
✧ kaveh.
"that doesn't seem quite right..."
kaveh is stood pondering in his office, the blueprints on the easle in front of him full of detail, far more complicated than anyone other than him could make any sense of. several stacks of scrolls take up all his desk space, 'stealing' his pencils and other pieces of equipment, or atleast that's what he claims to be happening.
in reality, his workspace is far too messy, causing him even more stress ontop of trying to find the perfect measurements for whatever building he was planning. you picked up on this, how he often promises to eat with you at the table, but gets so lost in his work he dismisses his own needs just for the sake of his project.
you decide to take the initiative, covering the plates of food with towels before making your way to kaveh's office; a small building to the left of the living area of the property, though it seemed to be that he was living there instead.
slowly pushing the front door open, you let yourself inside, sighing happily at not only the warm air against your now cold cheeks, but also at the comforting scent that you know all too well...
"it looks good, hun" you'd say, your voice gentle and sweet as to not scare him. he wouldn't turn to face you, but instead stare holes into his blueprints, hand holding his chin as he was lost in thought.
"hm? oh, sorry love, could you repeat that? i didn't hear you"
you make your way over to him, choosing to stand behind him rather than infront. snaking your arms around his waist and pulling him into you, you rest nuzzle the side of your face against his back. he jolts slightly, only to relax into your touch seconds after. "it's looking good" you repeat yourself, rubbing circles on his stomach through his shirt in an attempt to ease his stress. all it does is leave him stressed and flustered... ok maybe a bit less stressed, he's not complaining though. he loves the way you're so gentle with your hands, and know exactly how to make him feel so flustered. placing his own hands on yours, he intertwines your fingers with his, dragging your hands across his lower stomach to wrap around him tighter. "y- you really think so?"
"of course i do, love, everything you design is beyond beautiful, but this one especially...
"would- do you think you'd live in it?"
"oh, absolutely! strangely enough, it looks just like how i imagined my home to be when i was younger"
unbeknownst to you, kaveh is uncontrollably smiling like an idiot, knowing that you approve of your future home really gives him even more motivation to put his all into every single one of the blueprints, making sure not to miss even a single detail...

when alhaitham’s eyes finally open - albeit barely - the first thing he notices is that the books on his nightstand aren’t there.
the second thing is that, judging from the pulsing behind his temples, he is definitely hungover. so he attributes the missing books to whatever drunken state he was in last night thanks to cyno, a bet, and way too much alcohol.
groaning, he closes his eyes again. maybe it’s for an hour or maybe it’s only five minutes, but when he peels them open again, he realizes that the sunlight that’s hitting them is coming from a window that’s not in the right spot.
it’s startling enough for him to jolt upright, because it’s enough for him to realize that this isn’t his room.
it’s with mounting horror that he realizes that isn’t his window, that isn’t his nightstand, and that certainly is not his underwear laying on the floor.
and he is certainly not alone in what isn’t his bed either. with an increasing heart rate, he moves as quickly as his alcohol impaired body can manage, collecting his discarded clothes and slipping them on.
“haitham?”
when he whips his head around to look at you, his brain feels as if it smacks against the side of his skull.

kaveh peels himself off the front porch as alhaitham shoves his key in the lock and pushes the front door open.
“where were you last night?” the architect asks, already seeming suspicious. “you said you were going home when you left. i was waiting for you!”
alhaitham sends him a flat look. “you poor thing.”
“don’t bring my financial status into this! just answer the question!”
he grabs a glass, weighing different lies and their effectiveness in his head before answering. “i was out.”
“obviously,” his roommate huffs, catching the door and following him in. “but where?”
alhaitham fills and chugs his water to soothe his parched throat (and to avoid answering), turning the answer over in his mind. he quickly comes to the conclusion that answering honestly would be extremely unwise.
so he simply shrugs, setting his glass down and heading towards his room.
unfortunately, he isn’t fast enough to escape kaveh’s long limbs and insatiable appetite when it comes to his private life. he practically body blocks him, hand cupping his chin contemplatively, eyes boring into him as if they could pierce his skull and read his thoughts.
“is that a hickey?”
“of course not, don’t be crass.” alhaitham pushes past him, then tugs the collar of his shirt up. he needs a shower and fresh set of clothes.
but kaveh is hot on his heels. “you were out with someone, weren’t you?”
normally, he’d be much more adept at diverting kaveh’s attention, but there’s a strange, paralyzing panic rising in his chest hindering him. it must be the remnants of the alcohol lingering in his system. “no.”
“then why didn’t you come home?”
“i’m not a child who has to explain why they were out past curfew.”
kaveh rolls his eyes. “right, you’re a grown man that’s always in bed by 9pm. now, was the house of daena burning down or were you out with a…certain pretty doctor? you guys were both pretty tipsy when you left.”
in the years that alhaitham has known kaveh, he’d learned that the man was never able to simply accept certain comments at face value.
for example, last week alhaitham may or may not have said that he thought you were pretty. he’s never been one to exaggerate, and meant it purely objectively. like if he said tighnari was smart or that cyno went through card backs faster than dehya went through steel gauntlets. it was just a fact.
but whenever it was about you, kaveh always managed to distort his simple observations into something borderline scandalous.
“it’s none of your business,” he snaps, sounding much too defensive for his liking. “if all you’re going to do is make baseless accusations, save them for later. i need to get ready.”
“where are you going?!”
_____
the table alhaitham shares with you at puspa cafe is silent.
usually, having coffee with you is easier. conversation flowed easily and the few silences you’d share never demanded to be filled. at first he’d thought that it was because you were compatible in all the right ways, but he’d quickly come to the conclusion that it because, well, you were you.
and last night he’d kissed you. he’d felt your lips press against his own and felt your soft skin under his fingertips. he may have forgotten how the two of you had ended up back at your place, but he’d never forget that.
but now the air is so brittle he fears it may snap. he glances up at you. your expression is almost unreadable. like him, you’re probably over-analyzing the situation at hand.
“i don’t regret it,” he says simply, internally cursing his lack of social tact when you startle. “do you?”
“i don’t,” you say quickly, looking sincere enough. “but…fraternizing is against akademiya faculty policy.”
“i suppose because those are the rules,” he says slowly, reaching across the table to twine his fingers with yours as he adds, “we’ll have to terminate all contact then.”
“yes,” you nod, a smile spreading across your lips. “we will.”
but when he leans in to kiss you, you don’t stop him.
well, alhaitham’s never been one for rules anyway.
BONUS:
cyno rubs his temples. it was much too early for this. “kaveh, i can’t order an investigation on the akademiya scribe just because you think you saw him hold hands with someone.”

Nahida’s Precious Tailor
The little lord of Sumeru calls upon your aid as she wishes for a wardrobe change.
Who’s Here: Reader/Player, Nahida, Wanderer, Kaveh, and Alhaitham makes a short appearance
Contains: Cursing, SAGAU (Self Aware Genshin Alternate Universe), Artist/Tailor Reader, Reader isn’t explicitly shipped with anyone so you can make do however you wish
Note: Inspired by @sunnysolaria. Not their exact ask, I just had fun making this (~ ̄▽ ̄)~ (i.e. this basically word vomit)
====
Time ticks by as you and Nahida sit in the middle of the Sanctuary of Surasthana. You can vaguely hear the sounds of children singing softly in the background which makes it a bit more eerie to be here, but you push it away to try and focus on the task asked of you. Nahida looks on in wonder as you continue to ponder, not noticing you’ve started to mumble out loud.
“I knew you liked to waste your own time, but I thought you’d at least be decent enough to spare others from your terrible habits.”
Hearing Wanderer you’re snapped out of your thoughts and turn your eyes away from Nahida to see him arrive. Your mind, still a jumbled mess, can barely recall what he said to make a proper retort. You assume he insulted you so you open your mouth hoping to say any form of comeback.
“Sup.”
Of course, you didn’t.
Nahida quickly spreads her arms wide taking Wanderer’s scrutinizing eyes off your form, allowing you to collect your thoughts better.
“I’ve asked them to be my tailor! They’re helping me think of outfit designs! Some of the ones they’ve already thought of have been fascinating!”
You blank for a sec upon hearing that. You’re happy she liked some of the designs you thought of, but you forgot she could read your mind at all. Trying to shake the thought that she could read your mind whenever she pleases, you turn to Wanderer to shoo him away.
“Yeah I’m actually here for important business, so if you could skedaddle somewhere else for a bit that’d be great.”
He ignores you and keeps his attention focused on Nahida, which has you silently cursing under your breath.
“Why do you even need new clothes? Let alone asking the Player to design and make them for you. Their sense of fashion is atrocious.”
You gasp and put your hand to your chest. You’re about to tell him your clothes were for sure more comfortable than anything he could be wearing, but Nahida cuts you off.
“Before the Player landed in Teyvat, they would sometimes bring up pictures of everyone with different clothes. Some people looked completely different from how they are now.”
Your brow raises as you cock your head. You didn’t think they could see anything outside the game when you were playing. They were too good at hiding everything they were able to do to your device. Or maybe it was just Nahida, that would be better for your peace of mind.
“Oh, so you saw your beta designs? Is that why you asked me specifically?”
Nahida nods her head, “Partly. It’s why I wanted to try something different, but I haven’t actually seen my own alternative designs. I can’t say I’m not still curious to see them.”
Your eyes brighten just a little. “I can still show you if you want me too! It’s all saved to a photo album on my phone. I’d just have to find it.”
She leans in closer to you with curiosity and marvel on her face. You take that as a yes and take-out your phone to start looking for it. During the time it takes you to find the set of pictures Wanderer ends up sitting next to you and staring at all the pictures you pass by. As soon as you find Nahida’s beta designs and hand her your phone, Wanderer starts to come at you.
“Wow, someone’s obsessed.”
Your head whips to his direction, and you look at him with a mix of disdain and embarrassment. The sadistic pleasure is very visible on his face as he continues.
“Over 2000 pictures dedicated to us? And a lot of them seem to be of the same person. I wonder what they’d think if they knew you had sections dedicated to them in your photo gallery.”
Shame shimmers underneath your skin the more he talks. You’re glad he only saw the folder number. You stopped organizing your pictures in folders a long time ago so you can’t imagine how much you have now. If he knew the actual number you’d probably die on the spot. Even so, you don’t want to take shit from this fucking edgelord.
“Oh shut the fuck up! I didn’t know any of you were even real at the time I just liked the game okay.”
He arches his brow and rests his head on his hand, still carrying that shit-eating grin, “The fact you thought we weren’t even sentient just makes this more pathetic.”
Wanderer soon brings up the pictures he saw of himself on your phone which has you combusting on the spot. Nahida continues to stare at her beta designs, ignoring the “argument” going on between you two. She examines them for a bit longer before tapping your shoulder to get your attention and holds out your phone for you to take back.
You quickly take it and hide the source of your shame, giving Wanderer the middle finger while you're at it. You focus as much on Nahida as you can, with him laughing in the background.
“Did you like any of them?”
Nahida stares at you intently for a moment before saying anything. “Player, would you have preferred it if I looked like one of these designs?”
You’re stunned for a sec before panic quickly sets in. Of course, she was probably reading your mind to see what you thought of them. You thought they were all pretty interesting, but you didn’t want her thinking you thought they were superior. You vaguely hear Wanderer tease you for managing to upset such a forgiving god and Nahida saying that she wasn’t upset, just asking, but it’s in one ear and out the other amidst your frantic state.
“Oh! No, no, no, no, no, no Nahida you got the wrong idea!” You take your phone back out before gesturing to the whole page of beta designs. “Yeah I think these designs are cool, some more than others but that’s beside the point! I like you Nahida even if your dress looks like a shuttlecock-”
“What are you even saying-”
“Stop focusing on the unimportant Wanderer.”
He scoffs at you and rolls his eyes.
“But you’re you. For a lot of these I think they had a different vision of you in mind when drawing these.”
Nahida puts her hands on yours and only then did you realize how much you were fidgeting. She smiles warmly at you, “There’s no need to be so nervous. I was just asking!”
You deflate in relief, “Thank goodness. I guess back to my last question then… Did you like any of them? If you thought one of them was pretty good I could make that for you?”
She thinks on it for a moment and ultimately shakes her head, “I did like a couple, but I’d rather you make me something new! There’s a reason these weren’t chosen, and you said it yourself they don’t make you think of me. I know you put your heart into the clothes you make, so a design made by you, for me, is perfect.”
You smile at her. Her faith in you to make something good for her fills you with pride.
“I’ll do my best for you.”
Out of the corner of your eye you notice Wanderer opening his mouth, probably to talk more shit, so before he can say anything you make a show of stretching and square him straight in his face. He roughly grabs your hand and pushes it away from him, staring at you with the fiercest scowl you’ve seen from him. You merely smirk in his direction.
“Oh I’m so sorry, I forgot you were there. I was just trying to stretch, no hard feelings yeah?”
You put your phone away again and get up to leave, waving goodbye to Nahida and ignoring Wanderer’s pointed gaze as you walk towards the door. Nahida cheerfully waves back and Wanderer silently seethes in his place.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
On your way down to the ground floor of the city you continue to brainstorm multiple ideas to potentially make for Nahida. Dresses, regal robes, bejewelled shirts, and big pants. Should you try to lean into her godhood? Maybe go for a nature theme or add more computer-Esq patterns into the design. Should you give the poor girl shoes? You’re so deep in thought you don’t realize how close you had gotten to the edge of the pathway. A stray tree branch catches your foot, and you trip, snapping out of your mind to see houses and merchant stalls.
Luckily before you could plummet onto some poor person’s roof you’re caught by your arm and roughly pulled away from the ledge and into someone’s chest. You both fall to the ground and a small group of students that witnessed your mishap crowded around you.
“Oh my Archons, are you two okay?” “Do you need any help?” “Can we get you anything?”
“I’m fine thank you, but Player, are you okay?”
“Kaveh!?”
You get up and turn around to see it was indeed Kaveh that had saved you from cracking your head open on one of the rooftops below. He’s helped up by one of the others, and he stares at you intently.
“Yes it’s me, but seriously are you okay?”
You hear some of the others murmuring questions, mostly asking if you’re okay. “Yeah I’m fine. Thank you, really.”
You, of course, take this moment to hug him which Kaveh immediately reciprocates. “Gods you need to be more careful. You nearly scared me half to death.”
He peels himself away from you when he notices the others are still worried about you. The few students around ask if you’re sure you’re okay and fawn over you a little before leaving you in Kaveh’s care. As you’re waving bye you feel Kaveh’s hand rest on your shoulder which has you turn to look at him, his gaze still filled with concern.
“Are you sure you-”
“Yes Kaveh. You saved me, I’m fine.”
You grab his hand and hold it in front of you. It looked like he wanted to say a lot more, but he eventually settled and gazed at you softly, tightening his grip on your hand just a bit. “I’m glad. So what’s weighing so heavily on your mind that you can’t look up to notice your surroundings?”
You fidget under his stare for a second, not being able to remember until you see Wanderer flying off somewhere in the distance. It feels like you were hit with a brick as you remember the important task that was given to you. As you turn back to Kaveh to explain, you stop to look at what he’s wearing. It’s his normal outfit, but taking it all in you realize you don’t know what makes Sumeru wear… Sumeru wear. You’re pulled into your thoughts again and about to walk off before Kaveh pulls you back a little, clearly confused.
“Hold on, where are you going??”
Oh yeah, you had forgotten he asked you a question. “Nahida asked me if I could design new clothes for her. I was thinking of ideas earlier, but now I see all of them were lacking. None of them really looked like Sumeru clothes so now I need to do research since,” You look over Kaveh’s outfit again and take a glance at the people around you, “I don’t even know where to start.”
His brows furrow, and his hand moves to his chin. You want to chuckle seeing him do the thinking idle animation, but you don’t want him to start overthinking his existence again over something so trivial. Suddenly, Kaveh grabs you by your shoulders and his face ends up really close to yours.
“I can help you! If you want me to, that is.”
You stare at Kaveh in slight surprise. You guess you should've known he’d want to help with your artistic endeavours.
“You know how to make clothes?”
He falters a bit, but is still as enthusiastic as before, “Well no, but I do know a thing or two about style. I learned more than just how to make a building during my time at the Academia you know.”
He playfully pokes your forehead, and you swat his hand away with a smile. “Yeah I wasn’t thinking. I’d definitely appreciate your help.”
“Perfect! We can start by heading to the Grand Bazaar. Oh, but first I have to drop off my materials. I was on my way to do that before I had to drop everything to keep you from falling.”
You look past him to see a ton of blueprints and rulers and a ton of other materials. Making your way over you start to pick everything up for him, Kaveh soon following suit. You hear him mumbling, hoping nothing broke in his rush. Guilt creeps up your spine seeing him fret over every item he picks up.
“... Sorry.”
His head snaps to your direction hearing you apologize and quickly tries to calm any guilt you currently feel. “Please it’s okay, besides it doesn’t seem like anything’s broken. If you still want to make it up to me then try taking better care of yourself.”
You huff and continue to help him collect his things off the floor. “That’s a tall ask, but I’ll try for you.”
“You better.”
You finish gathering all of Kaveh’s materials and help him carry them on the way to Alhaitham’s despite all his protests saying he could do it himself.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
“What are you doing here??”
“This is my house, or did you forget?”
You honestly weren’t expecting to see Alhaitham today. You were pretty sure you caught sight of him in the Academia on your way to the Sanctuary or Surasthana so you assumed he was working. Judging by Kaveh’s reaction, you guess that’s what he was supposed to be doing.
Kaveh scoffs, “Never mind. Player, can you hand me the rest of my things? You can wait here while I put them all away.”
Kaveh carefully brings his materials over to his room, and you decide to sit next to Alhaitham as you wait for him to put them away. He’s currently reading something you have no hope of ever understanding. You’re content to sit here in silence as you wait not wanting to bother him, when he starts talking, not even taking his eyes off the book he’s reading.
“You nearly had quite the fall earlier. You’re quite lucky Kaveh was able to catch you in time.”
It takes you a bit to register what he was referring to, but when it settles you gawk at him, barely believing what he’s insinuating.
“Wait, so you saw me nearly fall to my death, and didn’t even bother to check up on me??”
He closes his book with a snap and turns to look at you. Moments like this make you wish you were able to read him, his passive face making it near impossible to tell what he was thinking. You watch as he reaches for something behind him and pulls out a small heart-shaped gold and green box with a soft glow. He hands it to you without saying a word.
You take it and inspect it for a while, not being able to figure out what it is. You don’t see any clasps or hinges to be able to open it so you’re filled with nothing but questions.
“What’s this for?”
“Consider it my apology for not checking up on you earlier. Open it later.”
You huff and nod your head. Realizing you're probably not going to get anymore out of him you change the topic, talking to him about whatever you feel like as you wait for Kaveh. You’re in the middle of explaining the task Nahida gave you and the research you’re about to do when Kaveh finally steps out of his room.
“Everything's put away, we can head off now!”
You get up excited and skip to the front door, not realizing Alhaitham getting up as well. Kaveh does though and swiftly starts to question him.
“Where are you going? Back to work I’d hope.”
That has you turning around right before the door.
“I have some things I need to acquire at the Bazaar. Since you’re also going I thought to simply come along.”
You smile, you appreciate the thought, but feel Kaveh won’t in the slightest.
“Oh no you’re not coming with us! Knowing you, you’d try to but in with your own ‘advice’ when you don’t even understand the first thing about art. The clothes our Player is designing are for Lord Kusanali. Any help that you could provide would only serve to make the design a disaster.”
Your face falls as Kaveh starts an argument with Alhaitham, exactly what you expected. You debate dragging him away, but decide against it, saying you’ll wait for him outside. The only sign that he heard you is the slight turn of his head before you step outside yourself.
As you exit you look at the heart-shaped box Alhaitham gave you. You’re far too impatient to wait until you get home to see what’s inside, but you don’t know how to open it. You fiddle with it for a while when you hear the door open and close. Turning around you see Kaveh step outside and shove the box in his direction.
“Huh? What’s this?”
“Alhaitham gave this to me, but I have no idea how to open it. Can you maybe, help me?”
He complains under his breath hearing Alhaitham’s name, but does take it from you to inspect it. Barely any time passes when he realizes what it is and presses on the jewel in the centre of the box. You flinch as wings suddenly pop out from its sides. Kaveh hands it back to you, and you stare at it with glee. He gave you a Sumeru styled glider.
“What a coincidence.”
You roll your eyes and try pressing the jewel to get the wings to retract, which it does, and tell Kaveh to shush.
“Give him the benefit of the doubt just this once. I’ll have to thank him later. Anyway, what was the plan again?”
A smile finally forms on his face, and he goes over the plan he concocted “Yes! First we’ll stop by the Grand Bazaar, the Zubayr Theatre will have plenty of costumes that we can look at. I also know a few market stalls that sell fabric-”
You listen to him go on for a while when your eyes start to wander, and it’s when your eyes land on someone rummaging through their clothes looking for something you remember Kaveh’s and Alhaitham’s shared idle animation. He had them earlier, but just to make sure you decide to ask anyway.
“Sorry to interrupt, but you have your keys right Kaveh?
Kaveh stops and turns to you. You see his face contort multiple times, like he’s struggling to decide whether he should feel offended or not, before sighing.
“Of course I do, they're right… Uhh.”
You cross your arms and stare at him with as much disappointment you could muster. You watch as his face turns red as he continues patting himself down. Soon he gives up and slumps.
“... I think I left them with all of my things.”
You raise an eyebrow. “How did you even-”
“I have no idea. Give me a sec I’ll go get them.”
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Nahida twirls around in front of a mirror much larger than her, looking at the clothing you made for her from all angles. Her green mantelet swirls around her, the edge covered in padisarah designs and her bell chiming with every movement. The coat underneath a darker shade filled with swirls and flowing behind her legs. The necklace you gave her thumping against the sleeveless white shirt. In case she wanted some type of sleeves you also made white add-on sleeves with golden cufflets. Where the shirt ends, beads were placed to separate the blue and purple scarf around her waist. It had pale yellow ruffles that flowed over her pants. The pants are fairly puffy, also white and stop right above her ankles. You also decided to make her shoes, white and the same green as her mantelet with gold accents and adorned with green jewels at their tips.
You fidget in your place behind her and mindlessly twiddle your thumbs. She hasn’t said anything yet, and it was starting to get to you. You spent a long time looking over clothes and books with Kaveh to try and understand Sumeru design, but even after all the studying you were still nervous presenting it to her. You’re at least thankful Wanderer hasn’t said anything to spite you yet.
Not wanting to be stuck in suspense any longer you just decide to ask her directly. “So Nahida… Do you like it? ‘Cause if you don’t I can make something else-”
“No I love it!” She turns and lets you see the massive smile on her face, her arms still spread wide. “I especially like the scarf. I’m not exactly sure why, but it reminds me of something I lost. I appreciate it, thank you!”
You breathe a sigh of relief. The scarf is what you were most worried about since it didn’t match the rest of the colour scheme. Especially since Kaveh had quite a bit to say about it, but you felt it to be integral.
She then turns her attention to Wanderer, who still hasn’t said anything yet. “What do you think?”
He stares at her outfit for a moment, looking her up and down, before sighing and reluctantly giving his own opinion, “It’s… Alright.”
You elbow him in the arm for that which he barely even reacts to. “Oh come on, surely you have more to say than that.”
His brow twitches, “It’s amazing you managed to make anything presentable.”
You scoff and back away from him, “Never mind I don’t want your opinion anymore.”
Nahida claps her hands and grabs both of your attention, “I’m glad you like it too! Maybe our player can design you some new clothes as well!”
“As if.” “Fat chance.”
You both end up dismissing the idea at the same time. The thought of working as hard as you did for Nahida on someone like Wanderer makes you want to die. He probably wouldn’t even try it on.
You then remember Kaveh wanted you to tell him everything after once you finished up here. Knowing him he’s been letting this eat away at his thoughts, so you should probably head off now.
You relay this to both of them, Nahida nods in understanding before waving cheerfully and Wanderer just walks off, causing you to roll your eyes. You wave back to Nahida and as you turn around you suddenly trip and fall face-first into the floor.
“Oh, sorry. I was just trying to stretch, you got in my way.”
Looking up you see Wanderer, dead faced as usual, but you can see the mirth in his eyes. Kaveh is instantly forgotten as you feel rage fill you and bubble under your skin. He starts to walk towards the exit, and you hop up to follow him, yelling and cussing him out as you try to catch up. Nahida watches on with a small smile, clutching the scarf in her hands.

Thanks for reading!
Here’s the sketch I made to try and better describe her clothing. I’m terrible at describing clothing and wish I could just beam the perfect descriptors onto the page lmao.
Tumblr media
I’m not exactly happy with the colour scheme (The cloak/mantelet reminds me too much of Collei’s), but this was the first time I’ve designed anything more complicated than a sweater and hoodie lol. I’m still proud I managed to come up with anything. As to why I gave importance to the scarf, it’s ‘cause I tried to make it look like a Rukkhashava Mushroom.
Tumblr media
“A fungus that grows in layers upon layers, like a sea of clouds, and which mostly grows on trees deep in the rainforest. Therefore, they are considered by the people of Sumeru to be the holy crystallization of Rukkhadevata's legacy. In Sumeru, those who dwell in the forest have a tradition of offering Rukkhashava Mushrooms to the Akademiya, but no one knows what these offerings are meant to be used for. Word has it that the Akademiya always performs a secret annual ritual at the Sanctuary of Surasthana, during which the sages will consume these mushrooms to commemorate Lord Rukkhadevata's sacrifice.”
And here’s her beta designs from Hoyo if you’re interested

Helloooo your request are open right? Im sorry if its not. I just read your cuddling headcanons with GN who loves listening to heartbeat and my inner affection deprived self just— FSOAJALAKA *squeals*
Sooo im wondering if I can request headcanons about GN reader who's love language is physical affection and veryyy clingy and just crave physical affection 😨 Like they would literally die of loneliness because nobody hugs them at night (so me fr).
Maybe with Kaeya, kaveh, alhaitham, scaramouchie, tighnari, childe and diluc? ( If its too much then kaeya, scara and childe is enough.) Obvi fluff but i dont mind hurt/comf either :)
Sorry if this is too long, thank you!!
I'm happy to continue feeding you guys affection content, hope you enjoy!
Joint At The Hip
Genshin Men with a reader who's very physically affectionate ft. Kaeya, Alhaitham, Kaveh, Wanderer, Childe, Diluc - GN Reader (No Pronouns) - Fluff - SFW - Romantic
Tumblr media
Kaeya
Ever since Lisa introduced you two, and you greeted him with a hug, he was amused by you
It wasn't too hard to believe that a friend of Lisa's was overly affectionate, but he still raised his eyebrow when you linked his arm in yours whenever you passed him in the street so you could say hello
Kaeya admits that he found it a little strange at first
Weren't you the least bit worried that if you were like this with everyone, someone would eventually take advantage of you?
Though even with these thoughts in the back of his mind, he mostly just allowed you to do as you pleased
He found it funny how you always seemed so happy attached to him like that
Although he never dared admit or show it, he had his reservations about someone so openly affectionate with him; a stranger
But it didn't take long for Kaeya to sink into your every hug and smile whenever you took his hand in yours
He quickly learnt that you had no bad intentions, so he soon moved past his nature to conceal and protect himself by wearing his mask
In fact, it wasn't long before Kaeya was being just as clingy as you, clutching your waist suddenly to sneak up on you, bringing his arm around your shoulders as you walked or sat together, and teasingly lifting your chin with his hand
And once the two of you finally started dating, oh boy
Mondstadt better watch out, the clingy couple just got even clingier
Alhaitham
Has compared you to a parasitic creature in his mind at least five times
He never thought it insultingly, more like a genuine analysis of what you might have been trying to get out of this behaviour
Were you trying to butter him up so you could access a confidential file in the archive? Were you trying to pull a prank on him? Did Kaveh set this up?
He once brought this thought up with you while you sat beside each other, reading, your head naturally on his shoulder. You were a little offended by his use of the term 'parasite', but ultimately found it kinda funny that he thought that way
You tried to shift his thinking by proposing that it's more like a symbiotic relationship than a parasitic one
"It's hardly symbiotic if I'm not getting anything out of this,"
"Yes, you are! Because you're touch starved,"
Alhaitham choked at the sudden declaration, bringing his fist to his mouth and turning his head subtly away
"I am not touch starved."
"Sure buddy,"
It took him leaving for two weeks on an expedition to the desert for him to realise how right you were
He was touch starved, and he missed you more than he would have liked to admit
Good thing you were too, because the moment Alhaitham returned to Sumeru City, you were all over him and he couldn't have been happier for it, although he didn’t show it in his facial expression
And when you hugged him with greater force than he expected, instead of standing still like he usually did, he hugged you right back, bringing you closer
You've officially converted him, he is now an honorary snuggle bug (only for you tho)
Kaveh
You're his saving grace
He feels like the luckiest man alive to be able to come home and just let you cuddle him back to life after a long day of signing off project papers and designing and redesigning houses
Any time Ahaitham is making life hard for him (all the time), Kaveh just huffs and walks away, with plans to go find you so that he can indulge in your warm and loving embrace for a while
The best part to him is that you never need to be prompted to touch him, you just do it on your own because you like it
This means you guys have the perfect synergised relationship, since you love giving Kaveh affection, and Kaveh loves receiving affection
Of course, this doesn't mean that Kaveh doesn't give you any affection, not at all
He returns all your tight hugs and soft kisses tenfold
So if you've ever had a bad day, Kaveh's always ready for a little role reversal
He'll sit you down on the couch and prepare his favourite rose and padisarah scented face masks, and press kiss after kiss to your head while they set
He'll never let his sweet clingy little angel get down in the dumps, so he'll always be reminding you that you're the light of his life, and that no matter what you think, he would never have gotten so far without your constant love encouraging and healing him
Wanderer
The two of you have been dating for ages, and yet he has still not gotten used to how cuddly you are
His abandonment issues aren't going away overnight, and so he still has a lot of trouble accepting that someone would want to love him, no matter how much he loves you
Even though this insecurity has mellowed from its previous manifestation as general misanthropy and hunger for power to call his own, he still struggles with accepting affection
This struggle manifests verbally most of the time, so prepare to be yelled at when you jump-hug him, even if his cheeks are going pink
He has his own way of admitting that he wants you to be close to him, usually in the form of an insult, but you've learnt to read between the lines
Whenever the two of you go out to the markets for groceries or to browse, you take his arm and press it to your chest, your own arms wrapped around while your head rested on his shoulder, he would call you out for being dumb enough to need to stick to him
"Of course you need to cling to me, you loser. Otherwise, you'll end up getting lost somehow if I let you stray even an inch away. So don't you dare let go."
He's actually pretty proud of how much you cling to him, anytime he sees another man looking at the way you hang off Wanderer's side when you're out, he smirks and holds his head a little higher
Honestly, kiss him when he does this it'll wash his smug facade right away and turn him red
Childe
Childe himself is a cuddly man, so he loves to have his energy reciprocated
Although, he has a tendency to turn affection into a competition
Let's say you just got home from work, and you approach your boyfriend with a big hug from behind, wrapping your arms around his middle and nuzzling your smile into his back
Well, he's going to see this as a challenge, and as always, challenge accepted.
Childe unlatches your arms from him and spins around quickly, before wrapping his own arms around you and picking you up, rapidly bolting to the couch to fling the two of you down. Before your surprise can wear off, he lays on his back and brings you on top of him, curling his whole body around yours
He then has the audacity to smirk at you as a "Beat that"
Although you're just happy to be snuggling with him at all
Overall he's just happy to be affectionate too
You're his favourite teddy bear, and whenever the two of you snuggle down to go to sleep he makes sure to pull you into his chest and rub his cheek against yours with a bright smile before he wishes you goodnight
Very indulgent of your affectionate habits because he has the same habits, it’ll be a cold day in hell before he lets you get away without his daily cuddle
Diluc
Your affectionate nature took him some getting used to, that’s for sure
In fact, for a while he was quite awkward around you, not really knowing how to deal with someone so touchy
And of course you did your best to respect his boundaries, even when all you wanted to do was throw yourself over his lap and hold his hands in yours, letting him know how much you cared about him in your own physical way
So when you became a couple, there was no stopping the build up of hugs that you had spent so long withholding
Diluc was a bit startled by the uptake in hand holding and arm linking in your relationship, but ultimately learnt that it was your way of expressing your love for him, and he appreciated that fully
He sometimes worries that he isn’t enough for you, considering his own lack of physical shows of affection, at least to the level that you provide
So he’s often surprised that you claim you want to stay with him, because for all he knew, you deserved better than someone that still didn’t quite know how to show you that they loved you to the moon and back
Once you become aware of this insecurity, you reassure him that physical affection is your way of showing love, but that he has his own ways as well. Ways that make you feel just as warm and appreciated
Diluc is glad to hear this, but will still actively work toward showing his love for you more often. It would be his greatest displeasure if you were unsatisfied in the relationship

with finals week drawing ever closer, it can sometimes feel like you're going insane with the repetitive revision and those god awful prep talks from your professors but adding onto that to make things worse, the most (seemingly) sane person in your circle really doesn't help the looming feeling of insanity. he seems to have no qualms with the endless academic revision thrown onto you for the sake of grades, his head always buried deep in a textbook that keeps him occupied whilst your friend circle do what they're best at… procrastinating.
"i'm really starting to think college isn't worth it," you mumble, highlighting another line in your notes - you're hoping the pretty colours will attract your attention more, "when am i ever going to use this in the 'real' world?"
your boyfriend makes an evidently amused noise from where he sits opposite you, his slim fingers working diligently at typing on his laptop; the one that you had snuck a cat meme sticker onto, much to his dismay but he is still yet to remove it. it is silent for a few moments save for the exceptionally fast clicking of laptop keys before your boyfriend presses the enter key, his turquoise eyes flickering up to meet your already staring gaze. you smile sheepishly and he rolls his eyes, a crack of a smile on the corners of his lips.
"we're almost finished and you're giving up now?" he mumbles back into the quiet of the library, almost filled to the brink with students and their numerous cups of coffee. you recognise that alhaitham has a point but all of this seems excessive when you glance around at all the dark circles under people's eyes, hair tied up in messy buns and stomachs full of leftover food because they're lacking time to cook. a frown adorns your face and alhaitham is quick to pick up on it, clearing his throat as he fixes his posture, sitting straight.
"it's all we've done for weeks now, haitham," you pout, jutting your lower lip out. without realising, you'd just made your boyfriend keen in a matter of seconds, his eyes quick to look away before he's caught slacking, "can we go for a walk? anywhere but… here."
alhaitham can't deny that the pair of you had locked yourselves away in the library for far too long to the point where his limbs have gone stiff and he's sure his knees might sound like he's aged beyond his years when he stands up. this means - much to his disliking - that he also cannot deny you, his darling partner, this walk you're requesting.
"alright, fine," he groans, slamming his laptop shut before he turns his body to slip the piece of technology into his worn leather satchel. he doesn't miss the way your face he adores so much lights up almost instantly, your eyes twinkling and wide, "but you have to promise to finish this chapter tonight."
you don't even reply to him under the premise that it'd be unwise for you to make a promise you may not be able to keep, not that it would be your fault. your friend group had tendencies to rope you into unwise things, to say the least. it could be any of them; kaveh, nilou, cyno, dehya… you have the inability to say no unless alhaitham is there to beat you to it. you're thankful for his input when it keeps you on the right track throughout college.
with your fingers laced with alhaitham's own, the two of you begin to make your way out of the jail that is the campus library. the spring sun beams down a hug of warmth on sumeru during these months, slightly sticky with humidity. alhaitham is always less than pleased about the heat, more so when he has tasks to do that require him leaving his accommodation. to quote your boyfriend, this weather in his eyes is good for nothing at all but here you was, removing him from the safe confides of an air conditioned building that was nonetheless silent - that's his idea of perfection! he bites back saying his complaints out loud, only because it's you.
"do we have a destination to this walk?" alhaitham breaks the silence first, slightly out of character for your boyfriend and it shows when you glance over at him in mild surprise, your eyebrows raised. he scoffs, looking away. you take this moment to trail your eyes over the beloved features of your partner from his silver locks and the pair of white bluetooth headphones that hang around his neck at all times. he never parted from them, almost like how he never parted from you.
you shake your head when you realise you never answered him, clicking your tongue to your teeth as you admire the bustle of the college campus - usually a little too crowded for your own liking but today it seemed to be just perfect, at least it lacked to feel like a sweaty tin of sardines, "nowhere in particular."
alhaitham appears to nod out of the corner of your eyes, his own gaze falling to a patch of empty grass on the green in the middle of campus. he squeezes your hand to catch your attention, beginning to lead you silently as you weave through the aforementioned crowds you'd been mindlessly watching prior. you didn't question his sudden change in directions, knowing alhaitham there was always a possibility the man had gotten overwhelmed in the current situation. he settles onto the lush grass first, pulling you down at his side due to your joined hands which only earns him a yelp of shock and a glare.
"that was unnecessary." you comment stubbornly and a small noise comes from your boyfriend as he watches you finally settle down, resting your head on his shoulder with a sigh.
"this walk was unnecessary." he retorts, earning him a slap on his leg that curls his lips as he looks away, squinting to watch other students.
"it's good to get outside and feel the fresh air, haitham," you muse as your eyelashes flutter shut, relaxing as you feel alhaitham's thumb brushing over your knuckles subconsciously - this is just one of his many habits he does without realising but you most definitely notice every single one, "y'know… photosynthesis."
alhaitham scoffs, suddenly turning his attention back to you as he glances over your face while your eyes are shut. he takes in the way you styled your hair today and the minor details of your face you think nobody notices. seconds pass with no more words said before alhaitham leans to press his lips to you, catching you off guard as your eyes widen. pleased with your reaction, he pulls away with the faintest of a smug expression on his face as he dares to utter a response to your earlier comment, "love, we're not plants."

00¹ ─ DESC. genshin impact | dendro men reactions to you getting injured part one.
00² ─ TYPE. overprotective boyfriend au! x female reader
00³ ─ FEATURING. tighnari + baizhu ( individual imagines )
00⁴ ─ CW. body injuries. slight mentions of blood.
# A/N NOTE : cringe? ╥﹏╥ ( p.s ; alhaitham and kaveh will be in part two )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TIGHNARI / knee.
Tumblr media
YOU fall to your knees, too exhausted from all the hours of following tighnari around in his ever indulgent research trip to take another step. you hiss in pain from the sting of your scraped kneecaps but try to keep it down, wanting so badly not to spoil his fun.
"We didn't see mushrooms this shade on our last journey here, how odd..Y/n, can you-" tighnari drops his pen and notebook when he sees you kneeling on the ground, covering your bleeding knees.
"Are you alright?! " he asks, panic clear in his voice as he rushes over and crouches down to check on you. "What happened? Are you in a lot of pain?" he sputters in a hurry, though he doesn't give you enough time to respond before hoisting you up and over his shoulder. "Let's get you home quickly and tend to you're wounds before it gets any worse!"
"But your research Tighna-"
"We'll finish it another day!"
Tumblr media
BAIZHU / arm.
Tumblr media
YOU avoid eye contact with baizhu as you feel around your newly bandaged arms. Taking a deep breath, you observe him putting away the bandages and supplies he used to patch you up.
"...You know, I did try to be careful." you try to explain, not wanting to sour the mood more than it was, but not being able to take the cold silence from the man you hold closest to your heart.
you don't regret what you did. someone needed to save qiqi from those hilichurls and even though you weren't the best at fighting, you couldn't have just sat there without helping.
you just hope that baizhu will stop giving you the silent treatment and understand your intentions.
he cares about her just as much as you do, if not more, so you know he isn't exactly mad at you, he barely ever gets upset with you. but, that did mean that he was probably very serious this time.
baizhu knows he can't stay angry at you forever but..he can't handle seeing you hurt in any way. what if you had gotten hurt worse than just a few deep scratches? the thought alone makes his heart turn sour.
"Zhu? "
"..."
"Zhu, please just talk to me."
you watch baizhu turn around to face you, crossing his arms before finally laying his somber honey eyes on you. he frowns before sighing and carefully bringing you into an embrace.
"I apologize. I know I shouldn't blame you...I know that but, it was just so difficult, seeing you like that. All the blood Y/n I-..I just couldn't-"
"I know, I know."
you whisper softly in his ear as he squeezes you a bit tighter, burying his face into your shoulder. he let's out a shaky breath as you rub his back in comfort.
"I'm just glad that you're okay."

your "i'll see you again my loved one" teaser gave me an idea: which genshin (/star rail) men would sacrifice himself for you and which one would sacrifice the world for you?
i believe Kaveh and Cyno would give away himself for you without a doubt, Diluc and Zhongli maybe with a bit of hesitation; but Alhaitham would cook up the best plan in order to save you, and that includes sacrificing the world, that or Wanderer blasting his way through people just for you.
-🍼(sorry for the long ask)
Ooooh that's so interesting!
Hmmm, let me see.
GENSHIN
Would sacrifice himself for you → Kaveh, Cyno, Diluc, and Zhongli I agree with 100%! They would without a doubt sacrifice themselves for you if the need for it ever arises. → Baizhu. That man is just so selfless that he already sacrifices his own health and well-being to heal others. He also wouldn't hesitate one second to sacrifice himself to save you. → Itto. He just has such a good heart and he is a soft boy deep down. the chasm quest with him proved too that he would totally sacrifice himself. → Thoma and Kazuha are also candidates.
Would sacrifice the world for you → Alhaitham without a shadow of a doubt. He already doesn't care much about most people but you managed to snake your way into his heart. You're the only person who's so important to him he'd throw away the world if it means saving you. And ofc while cooking up the most convoluted plan known to man. → Wanderer as well 100%. He doesn't seem like he cares most of the time but if it came down to it he'd do everything to save you. Even if it means turning the world against him and taking it on by himself. → Ayato I can also see here. Considering how much he already does to keep his loved ones safe. As soon as you're part of that he'd do anything to make sure you're well. → Childe similar to Ayato shares a close bond with his loved ones. If anything threatened their safety he'd be more than happy to fight for you, even if it means it is him against the entire world. → Xiao. As soon as he lets someone in his heart they're sure to stay there forever. He doesn't trust easy but as soon as he does he would literally sacrifice the world for your sake. But I can see him as someone who would also sacrifice himself too. He could be both *looks at Chasm quest once again*
Tumblr media
HONKAI
Would sacrifice himself for you → Gepard! If anyone from the cast would throw himself in the way of danger to keep you safe it's this man. → Dan Heng. He may seem cold and distanced but he wouldn't hesitate for one second to push you out of the way in the face of danger and take the blow instead. → Welt. I can't really explain this one but he gives me the gentle vibes and he'd fight tooth and nail to keep you safe. While he'll probably emerge victorious he's willing to sacrifice himself to keep you safe.
Would sacrifice the world for you → Jing Yuan. He's already lost so much in his lifetime so he isn't ready to grieve over you. Without a doubt he'd sacrifice the world if it meant you would be able to stay by his side. → Blade already doesn't particularly care much about the world as it is anyway. As long as he has you that's all that matters. Bye, world! → Sampo I don't see as the type of person to sacrifice himself so he'd look for a way to keep both you and him alive. That means, no matter the cost, he'd sacrifice it all to keep you safe.

Alhaitham & Kaveh drabble | light angst
It's a quiet Friday night. Kaveh is draped over the back of the sofa, transfixed on his sleeping roommate’s face.
The dim glow of the crystal lamp dusts a soft yellow glow across Haitham’s face. Even in his sleep, he is largely expressionless, save for the occasional movement under his eyelids and the briefest twitch of his brow. His book rests on his chest with his finger still between the pages of where he’d stopped before sleep stole him away.
Despite his alcohol-hazy and fatigue-fogged mind, Kaveh recognises the title as one of Haitham’s newest reads, picked up at the start of the week- amongst three other titles. Was he a speed-reader? How many words did he capture at a glance? Kaveh wonders, when Haitham reads, if pictures form in his mind, or are abstract ideas contained in the shape, weight, and sound of the words.
He touches his forehead with his fingertip, as though he can connect to his thoughts and reach somewhere beneath his stony facade. Alas, there is no way to read Haitham, no matter how hard he tries; He is a blueprint Kaveh may study ten thousand times, but never be able to figure it’s labyrinthine layers, always stuck at sharp angles and convoluted diagrams that lead to nowhere.
Kaveh’s eyes trace over Haitham’s lips, and his hand follows in its wake. His finger trails along his cupid’s bow, thumb sweeping over the swell of his bottom lip.
Kaveh bites down on his own lower lip, teeth worrying the already broken skin as an undeniable ache to press his own against Haitham’s blooms in his chest.
It’s a familiar feeling, one that has not surfaced for a long time- deadened by the belief that Haitham did not see him as anything more than a broken bird he saved out of pity; the snuffed out Light of Kshahrewar now crawling in soot and ashes.
Albeit this, the old flame flickers to life in his chest, weak but alight. And it is that which forces him over the edge of the sofa, leaning in as close as he dares to. A lock of hair comes loose from his ponytail and it gently sweeps across Haitham’s cheek. His trembling fingers are digging into the sofa seat and he struggles to balance on the balls of his feet.
Without warning, Haitham stretches, his eyes fluttering open in slow blinks. Kaveh falters and fails to recover in time, and he teeters over the sofa.
A series of grunts and curses and more groans follow as Haitham is pinned under him and tries to get Kaveh’s elbow off his chest.
“What the hell are you doing?” Haitham hisses, struggling to breathe with Kaveh’s knee still on his stomach.
“Shit, sorry,” Kaveh mumbles, scrambling to get off but his limbs have turned to jelly and he’s not doing much except fall over Haitham again.
“Stop moving,” Haitham tries to grab him by the elbows but Kaveh isn’t listening and accidentally knees Haitham in the groin. Haitham hisses with a low curse and tightens his grip on him. “Stop,” he growls, the flash of irritation in his tone reflecting in his eyes.
Kaveh’s tongue turns to stone and all he can manage is wordless gaping. He’s perched atop Haitham and straddling his lap, and Kaveh’s cheeks grow hot at the realisation, but he’s bound by that single word that forces him to remain obediently still. “Sorry,” is all he can manage.
Haitham breathes sharply, brows furrowed while he regains his composure. “If it’s that game where you try to walk the shortest possible distance from the door to your room, I swear-”
“Can I go now?” Kaveh asks, vaguely aware of how distant his voice sounds form his body- disembodied, he recalls the word to be- his mind is elsewhere too, trying to distract from how close they are. His heartbeat pounds in his ears and all he can feel is that warmth radiating from beneath him, separated only by a few layers of fabric.
Kaveh manages to stand, swaying unsteadily even with Haitham’s help, before he quickly shuffles away from him. He’s halfway to his room when he realises his hair tie has come loose, and he glances over his shoulder to the sofa for it, but his mind goes blank when their eyes meet.
Haitham drops the hair tie in his hands on his way to his own room, but not before shooting him an odd look. When Kaveh refuses to meet his gaze, however, he eventually bids him goodnight and disappears behind his door.
Kaveh grips the hair tie in a death grip, teeth worrying his lip as he wills himself not to cry. What had compelled him to attempt a kiss of all things, he could not fathom- least of all Haitham’s serious lack of reaction. Had he actually read him wrong this whole time, or was it just in his head?
His colleagues often touted liquid courage as a supposed help with matters such as these, but perhaps it was that Kaveh lacked any at all in the first place.

# 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐔𝐃𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐀 𝐊𝐈𝐒𝐒.
kaveh has always struggled with new years, he’s sworn he’s always disliked it. but when he steps out from all the festivities and allows himself to get wrapped up in his work, alhaitham is the only one who can make him snap out of it.
content warnings: just some fluff :))
an: happy new years everyone<3
Tumblr media
For Kaveh, he wasn’t the one who enjoyed all the celebrations that had to do with the New Year. Instead of celebrating, he liked to stay in the comfort of his own home. Of course, Kaveh wouldn’t oppose a bottle of ale or some nice food that went along with the festivities, but besides that, he could’ve sworn he hated the new year for all that it was worth.
Although the new year hasn’t even yet to come, he knew he wasn’t looking forward to it. Mainly because a new year meant new ideas. New ideas meant more mora. And more mora was something that Kaveh could never scrounge up enough of. No matter how much mora Kaveh would save up, somehow, it would always slowly drain away and soon dissolve into the little pieces of lint stuck to his wallet.
The Palace of Alcazarzaray was Kaveh’s magnum opus. Although he took great pride in his work, he wished that the Palace was just another work a part of Kaveh’s portfolio. Sometimes, he had even wished that he was never even asked to make it. Because, maybe, just maybe, he was able to make more of what he loved without the stress of mora. The blonde man was filled with ideas, and yet, he knew none of them would ever leave the parchment they were set in stone on. Being apart of the art industry was not for the faint of heart, and Kaveh was well aware of it. Yet, for some reason, he thought he could turn the tide, and be the one exception. It seems like even that silly old dream was something that was too out of reach for him.
So with that, here Kaveh sat. Inside his house, on his desk, flooded with notebooks, parchment paper, blueprints, pens, rulers, and much more equipment and ideas that would never leave this overused desk of his. His eyes were strained due to his only source of light being a small, measly overhead light, his back was killing him due to his improper posture, and he was uncomfortable due to the fact that his long hair was currently stuck onto the back of his neck because of sweat. With an annoyed huff, Kaveh mustered up all the energy he had within him, and swept his hands through his hair before he pulled it up into a bun of sorts.
One could say that Kaveh was overworked, and the man would already be well aware of the fact. How could he not be overworked? He had so many ideas! There were so many things that he could add up on paper, and perfect, and turn into intricate designs, and then finally make something even greater than the Palace of Alcazarzaray! But, try as he might to hold onto those ideas, he knew they were only abstract convoluted ideas that he managed to pass up in an attempt to make himself feel better about working himself to the point of passing out.
Right about now would be a good time for his roommate and boyfriend, Alhaitham to come bursting through the door and swoop Kaveh up from his chair and slowly reassure him that everything would be alright. But alas, Alhaitham was no Prince and Kaveh was well-aware that the Scribe would come home late today. Since it was the end of the year, he needed to catch up on all the paperwork and translate, and write them in countless journals. Which then gave Kaveh even more of an excuse to continue working, despite that annoying cramp in his hands, and the fact his entire body felt like it was on fire.
The blonde man knew that slowly but surely he was getting somewhere. He just had to continue on, no matter how much his body wanted him to stop.
In Kaveh’s mind, his body was always against what his brain had to say. Whenever his body said no, his mind said otherwise and wanted to continue anyways. Sometimes it led to some pretty harsh consequences like whenever he would always reach for “one more drink” and then find himself waking up on the cold concrete with a bruised and battered body stumbling to get to the door of his shared house. But there were times when his stubbornness led to fame which would soon become known as the Palace of Alcazarzaray. If it wasn’t for those late nights, those drunk thoughts, and everything else in between, it wouldn’t have even come into existence.
So… just one more stroke of his own couldn’t hurt….
Unbeknownst to the thinking and tinkering architect, the door slowly creaked open to reveal a tired scribe, who had just gotten home. With cramped hands, and an exhausted look in his eye, he could barely believe that Kaveh wasn’t passed out from exhaustion. He was taken aback by Kaveh’s new hairstyle, but quickly took a fond liking to it. As he collected himself, Alhaitham took tired steps towards the dimly-lit desk while slowly calling out Kaveh’s name.
“Kaveh.”
No response.
“Kaveh?”
Again, no response. Maybe he should try something different.
“… Babe?”
Suddenly, the blonde haired man quickly turned his head absentmindedly, with eyes full of bewilderment. It had only taken Kaveh’s tired mind only a mere 5 seconds to fully become aware of his boyfriend standing right in front of him. His face slowly turned red, as he soon realized that the other man was standing right next to him, and studying his face.
Alhaitham took into consideration every single bit of Kaveh and cherished it deeply. His bloodshot eyes, his dark eye bags, his jittery hands due to caffeine… everything. Although Alhaitham wasn’t exactly happy to see Kaveh in this state, he knew what these nights were like. This night in particular was always stressful, and he couldn’t blame Kaveh for being like this. The only thing Alhaitham regretted was not being there for Kaveh sooner. He could’ve left early, and taken all of his notes with him to finish up at home. Then, maybe Kaveh wouldn’t exactly have ended up like this. Alhaitham could’ve taken care of him, and watched over him—
“Alhaitham..” were the only words that the blonde man could mutter that easily snapped Alhaitham out of his trance. Now, Kaveh was standing right next to Alhaitham, and had cupped his hand over the other man’s cheek. Now, it was Alhaitham’s turn to turn red. Kaveh’s hands were clammy from gripping the graphite, but yet they were also warm. Feeling the warmth of Kaveh’s hand made him look directly into Kaveh’s eyes which were filled with absolute love for the other man.
Alhaitham wanted to melt into the floor right then and there. He loved the way Kaveh looked at him. Although whenever he said it out loud, Kaveh would always push him away and laugh awkwardly about it, he wasn’t joking. Why would he ever joke about the man he was in love with? He wouldn’t ever dare dream of it. Besides the back and forth teasing and bickering the both of them had as a past-time, the both of them had their fair share of serious intimate moments. This had to be one of them.
To try and spare Kaveh from Alhaitham’s rambles about how madly in love he was with him, he decided to try and strike up a conversation.
“You’ve been working ever since I left in the morning, haven’t you?” He asked as he quietly grabbed Kaveh’s hand from his cheek and planted a firm kiss on it. He kept his grasp on it as he looked at Kaveh’s eyes for an answer.
The blonde man looked away, embarrassed that he had been caught. Was it really that obvious? “Oh, pssh, it’s honestly nothing to lose sleep over, Haitham. It really doesn’t matter, I love being busy, y’know! Just me being me!” Kaveh blabbered on and on and Alhaitham could only let out an amused huff before grabbing the other man’s waist and pulling him closer into a kiss. That would shut him up.
That sudden kiss titled the world's axis for Kaveh. His eyes shot open, and he shrieked quietly in the kiss before slowly melting into it, and hooking his arms around Alhaitham’s neck. Kaveh wasn’t expecting it, but he also was? Whatever, it didn’t matter. He didn’t have to think about the technicalities of it. All he had to think about was Alhaitham’s chapped lips on his own. He could only think about their hearts slowly merging into one as the kiss continued.
But, as per being human, they both had to pull away at some point in time to compose themselves as well as getting some well needed air. The room filled with heaving gasps of air, as they both held each other close, feeling the warmth of their breaths on the other as they soon realized what had happened, and quietly laughed about it to themselves.
“It matters to me, Kaveh. Everything you do matters to me. It always will, no matter what you do.” Alhaitham said gently as Kaveh looked up at him once more with that bewildered look in his eye. Whenever Kaveh looked at him like that, Alhaitham was always somehow surprised. Did he not think Alhaitham was capable of professing such a thing? No, Kaveh knew what the other was capable of. As a scribe, his weapon was his words. Be that how it may, his words could either build people up or break them down. Whenever Alhaitham spoke to Kaveh during these moments, he always built him up. No matter what the situation might be.
Kaveh could only smile at the man before burrowing his face into the other man’s neck.
“Thank you, Haitham. That means so much to me, you have no idea…” He trailed off, his voice muffled in between the fabric of Alhaitham’s shawl. The other man placed his arms around Kaveh before letting out yet another amused huff.
“Sorry, what was that? I couldn’t quite catch that.” He said, with a shit-eating grin apparent on his face. Kaveh didn’t even need to see Alhaitham’s face to know that grin was on his face. Yet, all he wanted to do was wipe it off his face. They were having an intimate moment, why did he have to go and start teasing him?!
“Ugh! You’re such a pai—” was all Kaveh could get out as he tried pulling away from Alhaitham which only led to the other man pulling him closer once more and pulling him into yet another kiss. Although Alhaitham was tired, he still knew what he wanted to do with Kaveh, and with the clock on his desk now showing 12:00 AM he couldn’t have waited any longer.
“Seriously? What was that for?! I was talking, you know!” Kaveh exclaimed in an exasperated tone, shocked at the fact Alhaitham caught him by surprise once again. Alhaitham now let out a full laugh, before pointing to the clock.
“Happy New Year, Kaveh.”

I’ll save you in every lifetime even if I know you’re not mine to save
haikaveh/kavetham | warning: hurt/angst/major character death
They’re still students at the Akademiya when one day Kaveh hears quiet sniffling from a tucked-away section, where only very rarely a scholar or two would venture back for a book. A light ashen fluff of hair, a contrast with the dark green Akademiya robes, a faintly familiar-looking shape; he recognized him - an underclassman by two years, from the Haravatat Darshan. His knees were drawn up, and head down.
“I was just…” the junior startled, looking up, “..retrieving the rune texts…”
Kaveh instinctively kneels down by him and smiles. “Kaveh, of Kshahrewar.”
At the time, Alhaitham feels a light in his life that he hadn’t before.
It’s 3 years later and Kaveh sends a fellow student to report to Alhaitham after their group disbandment, that he does not need the allotted half of the house; the project prize can be his junior’s alone.
It’s 8 years after that, when Kaveh, weary and poor, shows back up into the Grand Scribe’s life. Suitcases in tow to his house - their house. He slips the second key into Kaveh’s pocket - not a copy, but an original, as the house always had come with two. And for the first time in a long while, Alhaitham feels alive.
It’s two years past, when an argument goes very badly this time, and the second bedroom goes vacant for a long time.
He can’t find the heart to seek Kaveh out at the Akademiya, even though the Kshahrewar lecturers’ office was never far from his own.
Three years drag by, and Alhaitham finally sums up the courage he never had, to knock on the door of his senior’s apartment. It’s a little run-down, and on the outskirts of the city, but it’s to be expected with how lowly paid the arts in Sumeru were. A man in a sleeping robe answers the door, and Alhaitham apologizes for remembering the wrong house number and almost turns to leave, before he sees the subject of his turmoiled thoughts come up behind the man, eyes bleary and hair messy, still waking up.
He doesn’t remember the rest, but Alhaitham had turned and left without another word.
It’s another two years of separate lives, and Alhaitham tries his hardest to bury himself into investigating the ruins of Hadramaveth, such that he may forget anything was ever missing in his life, when he finds himself on the edge of life and death in the Aaru Village hospital, after jumping headfirst into defending a scholars’ camp from an attack - from his prior investigations, Kaveh was stationed there.
Injuries critical, he wakes up to an old familiar sight of blonde hair, worried crimson eyes, and a face he knew from every dream. Kaveh dives straight into his arms, hugging him. “You..you absolute idiot, Haitham -” His shirt is wet for the rest of the evening from the sobbing architect on his chest. And Alhaitham realizes no amount of thinking was ever able to make him forget Kaveh, because Kaveh wasn’t in his head, but his heart.
It’s a dewy, bright day a year later in Sumeru City. Kaveh picks up a simple stuffed bread, and a bunch of the Padisarahs he knew Alhaitham always liked. Alhaitham is waiting for him, at their usual spot on the edge of the city, and he mustn’t be late.
“Haitham! Guess what, the sages actually approved the budget for my big project, the one I always told you I wanted to build. It’s gonna take some time, and it’s out in the deserts, but I’ll be safe and back home before long, so don’t wait up for me okay? I’ll gonna give our house a good mop before I head out next week, and the rest of the chores as usual when I come home.”
Kaveh gives Alhaitham a gentle smile.
“And Haitham, I won’t cry anymore, so you don’t need to worry about me, okay?”
And he kneels and lays the bouquet of flowers on the marble slab, brushing his fingers over the carved letters tenderly.
Quiet footsteps come up on the gravel beside him. It’s Faruzan, Kaveh’s trusted old friend and Alhaitham’s Darshan senior. “He was so fond of this particular rune language…he had taught you it, too?” She runs her hand tenderly down the carved runes.
Kaveh laughs. “Ah, actually. I can’t read it.” He wipes the corner of his eyes. “His request was just to include these words from an old text he liked.”
Faruzan chuckles, gently. “This isn’t a quote from an ancient text, though.”
Kaveh blinks.
“‘To Kaveh. Thank you for always saving me, even when you weren’t mine to save.
- Always yours in every lifetime, Alhaitham.’”
Kaveh smiles and stands up. The sunset is beautiful today, and his heart feels at peace.
“I was yours from the beginning, Haitham.”

Kaveh: "Now it's my turn!"
.
I saved an artwork from Tumblr years ago with exactly this pose. Unfortunately, I don't know the artist. So the idea didn't come from me. But I really wanted to draw Alhaitham like that. I use a lot of references. I'm very bad at coming up with my own great poses. Everything has been seen somewhere before. Think of it as heavy referencing, if you don't like what I'm doing. Then I'm sorry.
Still, I tried to put more effort into artwork again. I haven't been able to use the full potential. That's all my skill allows at the moment. But maybe you like it. Then let me know.

Note
there are three constants: the sun, the moon, and alhaitham’s ability to grind kaveh's gears. an unfortunate reality in its own right, though the architect ought to be grateful for any semblance of stability and reliability in his life, considering how often things (and people) seem to slip through his fingers.
the past is complicated, and relationships even more so. a stranger turns into a best friend, and a best friend to…well. whatever this is now. in an odd way, it reminds kaveh of the thesis he once ripped up and pieced back together all those years ago — still comprehensible, though far removed from its original state.
but even in the face of never-ending arguments and bickering, there is an indisputable truth to contend with: alhaitham has done for him what others have not. and though kaveh is loathe to admit it, he finds that the most unshakeable part of his life is a friend that will never change — for better or for worst.
he waits for alhaitham to step out before sneaking into the other's bedroom. it’s there that kaveh places a bottle of wine on the nightstand, along with a book titled, “In Other Words — A Unique Collection of “Untranslatable,” Culturally-Bound Words Across Teyvat.”
A note is stuck to its cover:
“I skimmed through this and thought you'd find it interesting. ”
With a P.S at the bottom:
“In the spirit of the New Year, drink to whatever it is that makes you happy in your own time. Just make sure you wash your glass after. I've already done the dishes.”
Signed with a flourish,  - Kaveh
Oh.
I shouldn't be so surprised, considering how sentimental the man is, but finding that Kaveh has obtained gifts for me still takes me off-balance a bit. Perhaps I have only my history with him to blame for my lack of expectation, in which case he has succeeded at springing this gift on me. And how thoughtful it is, as befitting the man: a copy of In Other Words, which despite the resources at my disposable I had had yet to get my hands on the most recent version; and a rather delectable-looking vintage that based on its appearance will do well for welcoming the beginning of the new year. Despite the words on the note, he must've spent some time finding and procuring these items, and for a moment I wonder how much he spent on them. If he hadn't saved up beforehand... well, it makes me curious, and hopeful that he was able to get a good commission preceding their acquisition. And that, of course, he didn't spend all of said commission on these gifts.
I like to think that after so long I have become well-versed in the particular language that is Kaveh, and for all that we (more often than not) rile each other up after our fall-out, we still have at least a shadow of the friendship we once shared. This present wishing me a cordial New Year's is evidence of that on his end. After everything, he still cares in some way, shape, or form. It's... kind of nice, these little moments in which I realize all over again that our brotherhood, though tattered and torn to shreds, was not irreparably burned to ashes.
And now I don't feel as nervous or silly about the new foreign toolset I snuck in his nightstand. If he hadn't gifted me anything, he would've most likely felt embarrassment at having nothing with which to reciprocate as well as believed he'd incurred a debt and attempted to pay it back and, well, that's one headache I definitely don't need. Apparently our timing lined up well in the end, and how funny is that? (I don't think I'll be able to keep a straight face however if that Fontainian curve ruler makes its way into his hair with the rest of his architectural accountrements. No doubt it works well for him, and it still gets me every time that it does so well. It's very Kaveh, now that I think about it.)
I chuckle as I take both presents and hunt down a clean goblet before pouring myself a glass and sitting down to crack open the book. Now I want to see his reaction to the toolset if only for the look on his face.
"Mm, happy New Year indeed."
