hey nat! i’m pretty sure you have answered this before But why did you pick brazil as a location for james’ dream house in ahb?
hello! it's definitely somewhere in the depths of this blog but i will answer again anyway!
i think brazil is the perfect mix of james and regulus. São Paulo is one of the art capitals of the world and for good reason. also i know regulus would love the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra and drag james there every chance he got. but it's also got the outdoor adventurous activities for james. with both extremes of the mountains and the oceans for him to explore. and it's got the most beautiful sunshine there and everyone i've ever met from brazil has been just The Most lovely and kind and welcoming. and i just wanted a soft and kind landing for james. after everything. somewhere warm where the birds sing. and to me, that was brazil.
brazil was always james' dream first, independent of regulus. but then it quickly expanded to include regulus, and that was fine because brazil was a good fit for both of them!

LOVER’S ROCK — PERCY + DAUGHTER OF PERSEPHONE
masterlist | rules
❝ could you write headcanons of percy x daughter of hades (or persephone) reader? ❞ — anon
in which percy dates a daughter of persephone
pairing percy jackson x persephone!reader
warnings none !
on the radio . . . lover's rock (tv girl)
an au where technology doesn't attract monsters! also i like to think that the cabins are magical and can alter depending on how many kids are in there so you have a big bed instead of a bunk
If there’s one thing Percy’s sick and tired of, it’s quests. For some reason, he seemed to be a quest magnet, never failing to end up on one at least once a year
After defeating Gaia, he thought this’d be it. No more quests. He could finally relax and focus on normal teenage boy things, like stressing over exams and skateboarding
He was, of course, wrong. As the summer flowers withered and turned into autumn leaves, Percy was ready to take on his senior year of high school. He packed all his belongings into his suitcase, excited to leave camp and head home to his mother, step-father and half-sister, when a certain someone stopped him
Nico Di Angelo, son of Hades. He didn’t come up to the mortal world often, opting to stay in his father’s domain, so seeing him was a shock. Still, Percy waved at him. Nico was a good guy and his friend, so he was always happy during the rare occasions the boy visited
When Nico explained the situation he was in, Percy couldn’t help but feel a little annoyed. He was so close to experiencing a normal life! Apparently, Hades himself had requested his presence at the Underworld, having an important task for him
Percy didn’t care for Hades, but the look on Nico’s face told him this was something really important. Nico rarely asked for favours unless he seriously needed them, so he decided to do this for him, not Hades or the Fates or anyone else
Holding back a sigh, Percy put his hand on Nico’s shoulder, ready to shadow-travel to the Underworld
“Perseus Jackson!” He heard a voice boom as soon as they arrived. Looking up, Percy found himself face-to-face with the God of the dead himself. Next to him sat his wife, Persephone, who gave Percy a kind smile
“I have a very important job for you, boy,” Hades began, “don’t worry, I won’t be too long. You see, my dear wife here would like you to escort her daughter to the mortal world and train her. I think she’s around your age. Actually, where is she?” Hades said. Percy rolled his eyes. Great, he was stuck doing guard duty for some random immortal
He immediately took back all his complaints the moment he laid eyes on you. From the way you seemed to bring the land of the dead back to life, Percy could tell you were your mother’s daughter. He could also tell that you were a demigod, as your eyes seemed to lack the boredom most immortal beings’ had
Making your way over to him, you held out a hand, which he gladly shook, “I’m Y/N. It’s nice to meet you, Perseus.” Percy hated it when people called him by his full name, deeming it too formal for him, but he’d let you call him Perseus for as long as you wanted
After that, it was settled. Turns out, you’d actually spent time in the mortal world before, only occasionally visiting your mother whenever she got lonely in the Underworld
However, your mortal parent didn’t want you engaging with your Godly heritage in fear of all the dangers that came with it, hence why you weren’t at Camp Half-Blood, and why Persephone took matters into her own hands
As you told Percy all of this, he couldn’t help but feel uncharacteristically shy. You radiated regality, but not in a scary way like a child of the big three. Your voice held power, but at the same time seemed to seep out of your lips like honey, coating him and rendering him helpless
Despite being in one of the busiest cities in the world, Percy was only able to hear you. When you finally got to your mortal parent’s apartment, he couldn’t help but be a little disappointed, wanting to spend more time with you
Sure, you were going to be going to his house the next day to begin your training, but Percy couldn’t wait a whole 24 hours
After dropping you off, Percy walked home alone, already daydreaming about what the following day held
The next day, you got ready and headed for Percy’s home (please don’t ask me how you know where to go you just Do), your nerves skyrocketing. You see, this was your first time hanging out with a fellow demigod, and so you really didn’t want to make a fool out of yourself
Since your mom did teach you whenever the two of you saw each other, you were pretty good at using your powers. However, you weren’t on the level of a demigod who’d spent their whole life fighting real monsters
“Okay, first, we have to work on your posture,” Percy said. The night before, he’d turned the living room into a training arena of sorts, moving all the couches, tables and any other furniture to the side. It wasn’t ideal, but it’d work until you found some other place to train or went to Camp Half-Blood during the holidays
You held the sword - a gift from Persephone a couple years back, one you had no use for until now - in front of you, unsure what to do, “like this?” Percy smiled fondly at you, remembering what it was like for him as a beginner
Stepping behind you, Percy guided your arms to the right starting position. He was really close to you. From this (minimal) distance, you could hear his breaths and smell the salty scent of the ocean that seemed to linger on him no matter what he did
The two of you stayed in this stance for a little bit, neither one of you wanting to pull away, before you cleared your throat and said, “okay, what now?”
Nothing much happened after that. You sparred a little, not stopping your training until you managed to land a hit on Percy, which you proudly celebrated. The moment he saw the look of triumph on your face, Percy knew he’d made the right decision by loosening up a little. You’d learn some other day
You were meant to go home afterwards, but his mother had insisted you have some refreshments, so you stayed to drink some lemonade and eat some of her freshly baked cookies. After that, Percy wanted to show you his room, so you stayed to see it. Then, he wanted to play Mario Kart, which needed a second player and you happened to be there so…?
Soon enough, it was nighttime and you actually needed to go. Your mortal parent had begrudgingly agreed to this and you really didn’t want them to change their mind
Since it was late, Percy did the chivalrous thing to do - he walked you home
Once you were there, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of deja vu. This was the second day in a row he was in this exact situation
This time, though, before you entered the apartment, you gave him a kiss on the cheek
After that day, you quickly became inseparable. You’d go over to each other’s places a lot, but not just to train - a lot of the time, it’d just be to hang out, maybe work on some exam prep together or beat him in Mario Kart (again)
With Percy, the school year flew by, and soon enough you’d graduated. Usually, during the summer, you’d just stay with your mortal parent, since Persephone wasn’t in the Underworld. However, this summer would be your first at Camp Half-Blood
Mrs Jackson dropped the two of you off at camp borders and to say you were excited would be an understatement. Percy spoke very highly of this place, and you couldn’t wait to experience it all
At your arrival, you were greeted by Chiron and Mr D, who gave you a basic summary of how things work at camp, relieved they didn’t have to break the existence of Greek Gods to another young camper. After that, Percy gave you a tour of the place
“This is my cabin, feel free to pass by if you need anything. I’m usually the only one here, but my brother Tyson comes to visit occasionally,” Percy said, presenting the cabin to you. It was gorgeous, just like him
Marvelling at it, you said, “yours is really cool, Perce, is mine that nice too?”
Noticing his silence, you turned to look at Percy, who was deep in thought, “now that you’ve mentioned it, I don’t think I’ve seen yours, not clearly at least. It gets busy really quickly here. I’m sure it’s awesome though, let’s go find out!”
The cabins looked close together from afar, but they were pretty widely spaced, and the walk from Percy’s to yours felt like an eternity. Getting there was all worth it though
As you stared up at your cabin, you couldn’t help but feel a warmth spread through your body. Your whole life, you’d been in a limbo, stuck between two homes but somehow feeling homesick in both. From the moment you saw this cabin, you knew it was where you belonged
Percy walked you up the steps, and you couldn’t help but feel nostalgic, “we always end up like this, don’t we, Percy?”
The boy smiled, shyly running his fingers through his hair, “we sure do! Look, I’ll come over later and we can go swimming, the beach here’s beautiful. I’ll introduce you to all my friends, too!”
You unpacked your suitcases and put all your clothes in the closet that was provided. The cabin was clearly uninhabited as dust coated the tops of all the cabinets, but that’s nothing a little spring cleaning wouldn’t fix
Picking out a vinyl record from your large collection, you put one on and began cleaning
It was hard work, but you loved it. Your mother was the Goddess of springtime, after all. The act of decluttering and freshening up a space was named after her domain
Besides, you had a lot of fun discovering the things your mother left behind for you - a basket of fresh fruits, a lovely handwritten letter and a cute dress, which you gladly wore after washing all the grime from cleaning off of yourself
In fact, you had so much fun, you completely forgot about the plans you made with Percy. So, when he showed up at your front door, clad in fish patterned swimming trunks with a surfboard in hand, he caught you off guard for a second
You caught him off guard too. You looked ethereal in that dress. Something about it made your skin glow and your eyes glitter, as if it were woven by Athena herself
“Oh Gods, Percy, I’m so sorry. I got so busy with cleaning this place I completely forgot you said we were gonna go swimming. I’ll go change right now, don’t worry–”
Percy interrupted you, “it’s alright, I get it. I had to deep clean my cabin when I first got here too.”
Seeing as he was already there, you invited Percy in, excited to show him your new home. He wasn’t paying that much attention to your impromptu tour though, too busy admiring you to care about the designs on the wood of your closet
Your tour ended with your bedroom. You took Percy by the hand and led him to your bed, pulling him to you as you landed on the pomegranate patterned bedsheets
In the background, your vinyl continued to play. Of course, the song playing happened to be a love song. As you stared into the cerulean of Percy’s eyes, you couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming love swell in your chest for him. This boy had changed your life in a way you’d be eternally grateful for
The song progressed, and your faces got closer and closer. As it reached your favourite part, a part Percy knew all too well after the many days you spent making him listen to this song, your lips locked
They were a perfect fit
Dating hcs time hurray!!! (cynthia try not to write 5 pages of backstory challenge)
Percy always gets you fresh fruits. He plants a whole garden of fruits outside his cabin with the help of the Demeter kids and every once in a while he’ll show up with a fresh orange or pear or something
Honestly Percy wasn’t that much of a fruit guy before dating you but now he vows to try every fruit he can get his hands on!!! He rates them all for you too and gives little reviews
Sometimes you’ll wake up in the morning to 10 texts from Percy detailing how much he hated a particular fruit, all sent at 4AM
This resulted in the two of you trying the fruits out together since you had major FOMO, which then resulted in picnics becoming your thing. They’re not super traditional picnics most of the time but you call them that so that’s what they are
Your mom found out you guys were dating a week into your relationship and she couldn’t be happier. She left a cute little fruit basket on Percy’s bed the day she found out <3 he shared them all with you of course
He calls you his blossom!! This one’s kind of random I don’t usually do pet name headcanons but I had to just put that there
One of my personal headcanons for kids of Persephone is you become more closed off during the autumn/winter. You feel really bad whenever it happens but Percy’s always there for you, patiently guiding you through your mixed emotions as your mother transitions from the normal world to the Underworld
I also saw this headcanon that children of Persephone all smell like flowers so I’m including it in this. Percy thinks you smell SO good. At first he thinks its perfume so he asks you what it is and you show him all your perfumes and he’s like “nope it’s none of these,” so you guys are super stumped
Until he passes by the Demeter kids’ garden one day and smells the exact same thing. So he spent the entire day scouring it for the specific flower that smells just like you
They got really mad at him because once he found it he picked a ton of them so he could keep them in his cabin and use them as a reference point for florists in the mortal world for when he inevitably goes to buy more, but he didn’t care
You got mad at him too though, since you cannot justify the picking of flowers
“Look, Perce, this is really cute, but you shouldn’t have picked the flowers like that!” You said as you moved the flowers Percy stole from the gardens to pots, trying to salvage them as much as you possibly could
The boy in question sat on your bed, his head hung in shame. Not picking plants is the number one rule of dating a Persephone kid, and he forgot
A guilt washed over you as you took him in. He didn’t know any better, he was just excited because he finally found what was apparently ‘your scent’
After the flowers were all safely in their pots, you sat next to him, tenderly placing your hand on his face and turning it to look at yours, “it’s okay. The flowers are alive and healthy. I’ll help you grow more of them, ‘kay?” You stroked his cheek with your thumb before planting a kiss on his lips
With a goofy smile now plastered on his face, Percy mumbled, “okay, blossom.”

My dad died yesterday, he was 63
I would like to share a little about him and our story if anyone wants to read, this is not a happy story
My parents divorced when I was three and I went to live with my mom so I saw my dad's life in snapshots, once a week at first and then once a year when he moved abroad and I would spend the summers with him. Every time I would catch up with him he would have a different partner or apartment.
My time with him was always fun, he was laid back, adventurous and open, he would let me do all kinds of crazy stuff while my mom was the strict one. He was a genius to me, he taught me how to program my own games when I was nine, he would make me take computers and appliances apart and reassemble them to teach me how they worked, he made me love science, the outdoors and travelling. He was great at teaching and cooking and driving. He worked on tours for famous musicians as a sound tech, he made 3D films for museums and theme parks when it was all very new, he was a photographer, a programmer, electrician, mechanic, artist and could play many instruments and write poetry!!
The first crack between us was when there was a huge split between my mom's side of the family and his over money and a lot of ugly truths stared coming to light. I realized that when it came to money he was willing to put himself before me and the fights between him and my mom were awful. But in the end once the dust settled we both pretended it never happened.
One weekend I went to visit him and realized his current girlfriend would stick around at last and she had a daughter almost my age!! I now had a little sister and I loved it.
A year later the country fell apart and he fled abroad along with them and even though I missed them I would visit for months at a time every year. I saw him start his life over, he started his own company and I was so proud of him!!
Everything was great for eight years, until one day he told me that my step mom and sister left him and he would sell everything and come back to the country. This was the last time I would ever hear of them, they vanished, I mourned my step sister for years. This was also when his life fell apart.
At 17 adulthood came with a lot of revelations. My mom told me that my dad had been an addict since he was very young, before I was born, my whole life, cocaine and alcohol amongst other things, and everyone around him had been putting up with it and helping him but couldn't take it anymore. He had cheated on her when they had me and had cheated on my step mom too. He would lie to get what he wanted and trusting him was getting increasingly harder.
All of my memories of him were now seen through a different lens. I felt betrayed. I could now tell every time he had been high, and knew where the money he asked of me when to, I was aware of every little lie. I was angry and frustrated at him for the pain he caused my mom and everyone around him. And for squandering the potential I knew he had, for always making the wrong decisions, one mistake after another. And I hated feeling this way the most.
After he came back to the country alone he could never recover, he would relapse, overdose, refuse rehab or any medical help. He would escape psychiatrics facilities and hospitals in the middle of the night, he was a menace!! lmao.
Our relationship was still good despite all this, different but still standing, he had always been my friend even if he wasn't the best at being a dad or partner, I would always scold him and tell him of different job opportunities I came up with for him to try out but now there was this distance between us. I became the parent of the relationship in a way and he didn't like being told what to do. I saw him spiral and I was scared for him.
I've always heard all these stories about addicts finding purpose and fighting for their loved ones, so every time he would jokingly talk to me about how high he was and seemed to enjoy it despite my warnings and pleading it made me feel like I was not enough of a reason to get better, as self centered as it may be I was a teen and I felt powerless to stop him, insignificant. People could get better for their children, but not for me.
I knew this way of thinking was flawed and selfish and he was the one struggling, I knew he was a victim. I spent the last of my teenage years and early twenties trying to fight back this feeling so I could preserve our relationship, we always kept in contact but over time he changed and was no longer the person I knew.
He became a stranger, often times incoherent and delusional, his views changed, he was paranoid, his addiction got worse and worse and now all I could feel was pity and guilt, our once good relationship was now reduced to a few interactions where he would ask me for money, I knew I was possibly funding his self destruction and he was likely lying to me but he also needed to pay for medication and so I couldn't refuse him.
I had my own life now, a husband and plans for the future. When I decided to move abroad a few years ago I knew our hug goodbye could be the last, he was broke and unstable but I thought once I was settled and had a job and a citizenship I could have enough money to get him tickets to visit and show him the life I had made for myself like he had done in my childhood.
But then Covid happened, and he would never agree to make calls. Soon after he was diagnosed with cancer, I would ask about his health and he would say he was fine. He wasn't fine, he was smoking 4 packs a day. He got the cancer removed but refused further treatment, he said he didn't have any purpose left in life and no reasons to keep living, he had a stroke and couldn't feel half his body when he was forcibly hospitalized, his cancer had spread and he hadn't been eating for a long time, he hid all this from me, I first heard it from my aunt in tears over the phone yesterday, he tried to escape the hospital in the night and had to be tied up and sedated, he never woke up.
He died alone, all that is left of his family is me and my aunt and we both live in different countries. There is nobody there to even bury him. I feel like I abandoned him. I've always known I would feel this way when this day came, in a way I've been mourning him for many years and have carried this guilt for even longer.
I had the coolest dad, cocaine took him away. I wish this had a better and uplifting message. I just wanted to get this off my chest. He taught me a lot and made me who I am, and I have a lot of great memories with him. He struggled all of his life with his mental health and despite it all he was still amazing and deserved so much better.
He always said that when he was a ghost he would follow me around, I hope he isl!! so I can live for both of us, I love you dad!! and I'm so sorry 🕯️

SLEEP BLISS 💤
Tumblr media
Post outbreak!Joel Miller x f!reader
Summary: you and Joel used to share a sleeping bag when you were on the road. Once you got to Jackson, he made sure to put an end to this habit, but now his nightmares are back to haunt him again and he needs your help
Warnings: angst, fluff, mentions of smut, mentions of masturbation, probably out of character Joel but I don't care I just want my big bear Joel to be happy and safe
1.5k words
Tumblr media
As Joel stood at the door watching you get ready for bed, he scratched down his neck while he felt so stupid.
But it wasn't just a feeling, he was stupid. That was the problem.
You took a while to notice him there, he'd been extremely silent and several times he thought of giving up that idea. He had an internal battle going on, so ashamed of asking you that, but at the same time he really needed it.
You saw him standing there, dark circles around his eyes, he looked exhausted and even a shade paler if someone asked and you knew exactly why.
The nightmares were back.
It pained you to think of how much he suffered to get something simple such as a night's sleep, you also had nightmares of your own, everyone did in an apocalyptic world like the one you lived in, but you just knew Joel's were somehow worse. He was tortured by his own subconscious, everything all at once, all his memories, regrets, broken dreams, broken promises, broken heart.
He often mumbled Sarah's name during his sleep, and it was followed by whimpers, the ones Joel would never let out in front of anyone, not while awake.
And you knew that because you watched his suffering for the last couple of months.
While traveling together to Jackson, you two ended up sleeping together.
Sleeping and sleeping only.
Never had sex, Joel never touched you in that way, despite a few occasional boners you felt poking your back when you woke up, but you couldn't really blame him for a good old morning wood.
You wouldn't deny you wanted Joel to touch you in that way, but you knew he wouldn't. He was a distant guy, no matter if you two knew each other since the QZ and went through a lot together, he always kept to himself, and you knew better than to push his buttons.
You cared for him, and he cared for you, but he wasn't that kind of guy and he was old enough to know that if he crossed the line, things would be an even bigger mess than they were.
He decided to share the sleeping bag with you when you were both out in the open and he couldn't stand you chattering your teeth all the time, how you tried warming your hands and how you had to place sweater over sweater and still you couldn't warm up enough to sleep.
He'd never seen that before. Even during summer nights, when the breeze cooled down, you still had chills and needed a blanket.
He tried to tell himself that the situation pissed him off, but in fact, it made him sad. He didn't like seeing you suffering and decided to keep you warm.
What was supposed to be one night, became two, three, four… and it lasted through the whole trip.
Joel's plan was to never repeat that again, but when he fell asleep that night, he didn't have any nightmares.
And neither during the other nights you slept together.
As much as he enjoyed having a peaceful slumber, he also saw how flushed and giggly you were when you woke up.
How you rested your hands on his when he held you and how before bed you always rested your hands way too close to the waist of his jeans. You were a lot younger than him, but you were a woman nonetheless and a beautiful one at that matter, and it was easy to get tempted.
And that was why, the first thing he did when you both arrived in Jackson, was to put an end to this dangerous habit.
At first, he didn't even want to share a house with you, and he rudely suggested that you find a place on your own.
You'd looked at him with sad, disappointed eyes, but agreed.
However, Joel went soft and when he saw you were packing your bags, he apologized and said he'd prefer to have you there, for safety matters, he quickly added, but stood by the decision of you having your own room.
You respected his decision, you couldn't complain and you also enjoyed having your own bedroom, you could decorate it as you pleased, have your own privacy and God knew how much you needed it when the memories of the nights you spent curled up to him, hit you hard and you had no other solution than to bury your fingers deep inside of your aching cunt and pretend it were his instead.
You didn't question him, but each passing day you noticed how he got darker circles around his eyes and at night you always heard his heavy steps pacing around the house, unable to sleep.
You wouldn't deny him help, but you wouldn't offer it either, the fear of getting a hurtful reply was bigger, besides, it was his decision to take his distance and you couldn't lie at the fact that you did feel hurt.
You finally raised your eyes at him and saw the discomfort in his face, you could swear he had made up his mind to talk to you about just to give up and then decide to do it all over again. He was a proud man and that must've been a terrible situation for him.
"Do you wanna sleep here tonight?" You broke the silence, knowing it would only take him just a couple of seconds more to give up and go back to his room, but you didn't want that, you wanted Joel there, you wanted to feel his weight, his warmth and his rough, big hands.
"I-uh…" he started with awkwardness though he saw it was pointless to lie "yes…" he was ready to get in bed when you told him to stop.
"If you want to sleep here, it will be on my terms, Joel… Undress!"
"What the fuck, Y/N?" He immediately replied, looking at you rather shocked.
"Joel, come on… we're not on the road anymore, we're safe, we're sleeping in a warm bed, it's not like we need to be in our jeans in case we gotta get up in the middle of the night to run or fight" you explained him when quickly got rid of your shorts, standing only in a loose shirt and your panties.
Joel swallowed hard and didn't even try to hide when he checked your body out, you felt a soft flush spreading across your cheek but smiled "it's nothing we haven't seen when we were bathing in the lake" you reminded him.
If he wasn't so exhausted he could've just argued and told you to fuck off, but instead, Joel got rid of his shirt at first, revealing his broad chest, strong arms that unblocked his belt and dragged his jeans to the floor, until he was standing there in his boxers only.
If he hadn't been embarrassed to look at you, you certainly wouldn't be embarrassed to look at him, and you did it, for quite a while, eyes lingering especially on his crotch, where you could swear you could see the shape of his cock.
You didn't look him in the eyes though, instead, you got under the covers and waited for him to do the same.
Joel let out a groan once his body met the comfortable mattress and covered himself.
You scooter closer and snaked your arm around his waist
"Relax Joel, it's just me," you reminded him. You relaxed as you rested your head on his chest and kept rubbing his naked skin with circular movements, massaging his tense arms.
"The nightmares are back, you know…" he said embarrassedly "I didn't want to bother you, but I can only sleep decently when you're around" you were shocked at his confession, Joel wasn't one to talk about stuff like that, but you understand he probably didn't care at all at how exhausted he was.
"You smell good, darling… you always did, even when we were on the road…" he smiled gently at you, which made your heart beat faster, you cupped his face and traced his jawline with the tip of your fingers.
Suddenly, all the anger and hurt you felt when Joel told you to take another room faded and you smiled, nuzzling his neck gently and stroking his soft, curly hair.
"Sleep Joel" you whispered to him, pressing a kiss on his forehead.
Slowly you could feel the tension in his body dissolving and he drifted off to sleep.
In the early morning, you woke up to Joel clung tight to you. You had your back to his chest, his heavy arm on your hips, preventing you from getting up. You gasped the moment you realized what was poking your back was his erection.
Alright, his boner was definitely harder to ignore without the thickness of his jeans shielding it, but you didn't complain at all, it felt so good to feel him that way.
You could've got up to make you and Joel breakfast, but you gave up, closing your eyes and snuggling, going back to sleep in Joel's arms.

It all started when Sam came back from a mission in late June. The Avengers would sometimes bring back presents when they went overseas. They didn’t always have the time to stop by a gift shop but when they did, the gifts were always cherished and held a little closer when the Avenger eventually had to travel again.
Two weeks before his mission, you had gotten very close with Sam. Your daddies asked him to watch over you one day and he gave you a whole adventure. He took you to a pottery painting studio, then the park, and ended the day with the best ice cream you’ve ever had. From then on, you were inseparable.
During group meal times, you’d make jokes with him across the table. If you were allowed in the room for a meeting, you’d pass notes back and forth. Sam would also play with you during Tony’s summer parties; he was going to let you fly with redwing before Bucky marched outside and confined you to his hip for the rest of the night. You didn’t mind too much though, the sky probably wasn’t as comfortable as being held by Baba.
Your attachment to Sam made this mission all the more difficult for everyone involved. You, because you missed your friend. Sam, because he missed your happy giggles and felt bad for leaving you right when he finally gained your trust. And your daddies because they had to witness you get sad every time something reminded you of Sam.
Fortunately, the mission was going well and he was expected to return right on time. On his last day, Sam was looking both ways to cross the street when a stuffed animal in a display window caught his eye. He looked at his watch to see if he had enough time to make his flight, then quickly entered the store and bought the plushie because he knew you’d love it.
On the plane, Sam sat with the plushie in his lap to keep it safe. It was still in the bag from the store, looking like an oddly shaped lump in a now wrinkly paper bag. When Sam returned to the tower, Steve was the first to greet him before you nudged your Dada out of the way to give Sam a bone-crushing hug.
“I missed you, Sammy!”
“I missed you too, peanut.” He kneeled down and handed you the paper bag. “I gotcha something.”
You beamed at him. “Thank you! I love it!”
Sam laughed. “You haven’t even opened it yet!”
“I already know I’m gonna like it because it’s from you,” you said, matter of factly. “But okay.”
You opened the bag and gasped when you saw the plush.
It was a soft turtle with a slightly slouched posture, but that wasn’t the part you were focused on. Your favorite part was the plushie’s grumpy expression. It looked just like Bucky.
“HE HAS BABA FACE! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!” You screamed your gratitude while running circles around the trio of Sam and your daddies. Sam and Steve were barely holding in their laughter, meanwhile Bucky stood confused, but happy that you were happy. Despite his super hearing, he wasn’t sure if he heard you correctly. Did you say baba face? Or maybe you said bubble face?
Bucky figured that this wasn’t something he needed the answers to immediately, so he didn’t ask any questions and resolved to watching you tire yourself out.
The grumpy turtle became your new shadow. Everywhere you went, so did the plush. You’d have it tucked under your arm while running through the compound. During mealtimes in your home, the turtle would get his own chair and toy food. Outside, you kept your turtle in a drawstring backpack with the head poking out so he could see the world too. When your daddies carried you around, you’d make a silly game out of making the turtle mess up your Dada’s hair or bite your Baba’s ears.
Even before giving you the turtle, Sam loved to boast about how he was your favorite Avenger(you didn’t have a favorite, but you didn’t have the heart to correct him on that when he kept giving you all of his attention). When you all played hide and seek, he bragged for three days straight about how you chose him to be your partner. Your attachment to the turtle only heightened his pride.
He always asked you where the turtle was, knowing it couldn’t be more than three feet away from you. Sam made a big fuss about the turtle having his own seat at the dinner table and fell victim to your strength and contagious giggles when you pushed him out of his seat to make room for your turtle. Sam learned his lesson that day and didn’t fight for the turtle to have his own chair in the debriefing room. However, he did bring in an extra stool for the plush. Sam even bought you the very drawstring backpack that allowed you to take your new friend on your outdoor adventures. In private, he’d ask you about how the turtle was settling into his new home and gave him the gentlest kiss when you said the turtle needed more lovin’.
The others all thought your friendship with Sam was adorable, but there was one person who saw this as an opportunity for some friendly competition. Natasha knew that there was room in your heart for more than one avenger bestie, so she devised a plan to take her spot. She had two missions in August–the first: survey a crime group that’s suspected to have ties with Zemo. The second: give you a gift worthy of four days of bragging.
After successful recon, Natasha’s plane landed in the Avenger’s HQ. She turned in her paperwork that she completed on the flight home, then went to freshen up so she could give you your gift. Natasha found you cuddled up with Steve in the movie room watching some old cartoon. She knocked on the door.
“Got any room for a couple more friends on that couch?”
“Natty, you’re back!” You untangled yourself from Steve and ran to give her a hug. You looked behind her expecting to see more of the group. “Where’s the other friends?”
She held up a bag with the arm that wasn’t hugging you. “Your new friend traveled a long way to get here.”
You squealed and hugged Natasha again before accepting the bag from her hand and kneeling on the floor to pull out the tissue paper and free your gift.
“You guys are spoiling them, you know that?” Steve asked, lightheartedly from the couch.
“Oh hush, how many hours of screen time have you given them today?”
Steve opened and closed his mouth a couple times, not expecting the question.
“Doesn’t count if the movies came from your time, right?”
Any response from Steve was cut off by your cheering.
“BABA OCTOPUS!! BABATOPUS!!” you held up the plush proudly like it was Simba. “Dada, look!”
“Oh he’s beautiful, baby.” Steve chuckled at the round, bright red octopus plush with a deep frown on its face. “What do you say to Nat?”
“THANK YOU NAAAT!” you yelled. Excitement flickered across your face once more, then you ran out of the movie room with the octopus securely tucked under your arm.
“Where are you going, baby? And no running indoors!” Steve shouted as he chased after you.
You slowed for a bit, but kept moving at a swift pace. “I hav’ta show Baba my new friend!”
Natasha watched your little race from the movie room with an amused grin on her face. During dinner that night, she enjoyed the shocked look on Sam’s face when you pulled up with two grumpy plushies and pretended to feed the octopus before the turtle.
Sam turned to Natasha. “You have no idea what you’ve just started.”
She smirked. “And you have no idea what you’re getting into.”
Steve leaned over to whisper to Bucky. “We’re gonna need more space in the playroom.”

The competition expanded beyond Natasha and Sam. All of the Avengers were determined to find the next grumpy plush to win your heart. There was a penguin from Peter, a frog from Thor, a cat from Tony, and a panda from Wanda. Your collection was starting to get out of control. You desperately wanted to carry all of your plushies everywhere with you to keep things fair, but your daddies put an end to that when you tripped on the sidewalk while trying to push a stroller full of scowling stuffed animals.
Bucky decided to help you create a system so you could fairly pick one plushie from the collection to carry around for the day. He made small slips of paper so you could write down their names and pull one out of a cup each morning. He brought his supplies to you while you were having an afternoon snack at the dining table. His heart broke seeing you with your knees bandaged up and the streaks of dried tears from the fall earlier today still on your face.
“Hi, Baba,” you sniffled.
“Hey, sweetie. What’s going on? You eatin’ your snack?”
“Mhm.”
“Why aren’t you eating at the kitchen island, baby? You always eat your snack there.”
You pouted and gestured to the plushies sitting around you. “I can’t fit all my friends there.”
“Oh I know, bubs. It must be so hard carrying all these guys around, huh?” He mentally scolded himself for leaving you alone during your snack. He should’ve known better than to expect you to stay put when your little friends were trapped inside the stroller. It must’ve taken so long to arrange the plushies around the table with your injury.
You perked up at his next words.
“Baba has something for you.” Bucky spread out the slips of paper on the table and placed a cup next to them. “You can write down the names of all your little friends on these papers and pick one name out of the cup to decide which one you’re walking around with for the day. Does that sound fair?”
You shrugged, “I guess I can do that.” You really would’ve liked a solution that allowed you to bring all of the grumpy plushies with you everywhere, but deep down you knew that it just wasn’t practical. You took the pencil that Bucky held out for you and started writing down your plushies’ names.
Your Baba lovingly kissed the top of your head and rubbed your back while you wrote. He loved watching you focus on a task. He almost didn’t notice what you were writing down.
Bucky squinted then blinked a couple of times, not believing what he saw. “Baby, why are you writing ‘Baba’ on everything?”
You paused and tilted your head back to look at him. “That’s their names. Baba Turtle and Baba Cat and Baba Bear and Baba-”
“Why do you call them that?”
“‘Cause look!” You picked up the grumpy frog sitting next to you and held it out for Bucky to see. “They look like Baba!” You hugged the plushie before setting it back down to continue writing.
Bucky’s heart melted. His sweet, wonderful baby was so attached to these plushies that reminded them of him. His signature scowl that often got him into trouble brought them comfort. His friends even noticed and spoiled his baby rotten with even more of these toys.
Bucky continued watching you work. He looked at the plushies differently now.

Steve and Bucky were cleaning your playroom. Normally this would be your responsibility, but you had gone to bed a little earlier, and they didn’t want you walking too much with your injury. Steve was putting your plushies into their designated bins. He wasn’t harsh with them, but his efficient method of gathering an armful and plopping them down certainly would have raised an eyebrow from you.
“Hey, go easy with turtle me,” Bucky teased.
“Turtle you?” Steve asked.
Bucky nodded proudly, then held the plush up to his face. “Don’t you see the resemblance?”
“Whatever, punk. At least my face isn’t the reason we have a 50 gallon bin of stuffed animals.” Steve turned around and kept cleaning, completely missing the look of excitement on Bucky’s face.
The next day, your Baba volunteered to pick up breakfast while Steve helped you get ready. Bucky stopped by a toy store on his way to the bakery. He’d seen this particular plushie before and knew that this was the perfect moment to get it for you. Not too long later, he was entering your home with bagels in one hand and your new friend in the other.
Bucky hid the plush behind his back when he heard you and Steve walking towards him.
“Hi, Baba!”
“Good morning, baby.” Bucky leaned down to kiss your forehead, then kissed Steve’s cheek as a thanks when he handed off the box of bagels.
You hugged Bucky and couldn’t help but notice that one of his hands wasn’t hugging you back.
“Baba, hug me better,” you whined.
Bucky laughed. “Hang on, I’ve got somethin’ for ya.”
You gasped in excitement and took a step back so you could see. Bucky revealed the plush with a dramatic flourish, then somewhat nervously waited for your reaction. The stuffed animal had you in shock. It was a stuffed giraffe that stood with the most perfect posture. It had spiky hair, blue eyes, and a charming smile. You knew exactly who it was supposed to resemble.
“IT'S DADA!” You squealed and graciously took the plush while running to the kitchen where Steve was. He was already making his way to you when he heard your scream.
“Dada’s right here, bubba. What’s going on?”
You held up the plush while doing a little dance. “Look! It’s a Dada giraffe!”
Steve laughed then ran a hand over his face when he made the connection. You ran off to your playroom, saying something about “finding a Baba for this Dada” while your daddies shared a look.
Bucky brought in Steve for a hug, patting his dumbfounded lover on the back. He playfully whispered in his ear, “We’re gonna need more space in the playroom.”

Eddie liked you. He liked you a lot.
It bordered on the edge of obsession sometimes, just how much he liked you. He would never admit that to anyone else, though.
It was so bad in highschool, that he genuinely thought that maybe he had failed some of his classes because he had been staring and daydreaming about you. In reality it was most likely because he had a hard time with math, but he still did spend a lot of time thinking about you. What it would be like if he finally approached you and admitted the way you made him feel.
You graduated and he didn’t. He thought that would be the perfect time to get over you and move on. To his surprise though, one of the freshmen he took under his wing was your stepbrother.
Dustin brought you up in conversation a lot. A curse and a blessing for poor Eddie.
He saw you in passing sometimes after you graduated. Sometimes you would pick up Dustin, or be at the Henderson house when Eddie was dropping him off after Hellfire. You were in college now, though, so the sightings of you were few and far between. Eventually, you stopped coming around the Henderson house to Eddie’s dismay. Dustin had mentioned that you were too busy to stop by anymore and could only make it by during the holidays.
Eddie avoided asking about you to keep his infatuation secret, only gathering information when it was freely offered to him.
Sometimes Eddie would wonder how different his life would be if he had spoken up in school and asked you on a date. Would the both of you be happy together right now, living a dream life? Eddie always considered you the one that got away. Even as the years passed by he never did forget about you.
Tumblr media
Eddie was in his mid 20’s now with a job at the local mechanic shop off main street. He had a trailer to himself, across the park from his uncles, now that he was an adult. Life at the trailer park alone was quiet and normal as always. Everyone who had lived there had already been there for years, so he knew his neighbors well.
It was a sunny summer morning when the moving van came barreling through the gravel drive of the trailer park, hitting every pothole that the park owners never bothered to fix.
Eddie was curious since his neighbors moved out who would take their spot. He hoped they wouldn’t mind that he played his music too loud while he worked on his car out in the driveway sometimes, or think he was the devil based on his choice of clothing and music.
The truck parked, lurching on the uneven ground. Eddie watched as the metal door swung open and two pairs of legs popped out. He leaned forward on the front porch couch, trying to catch a better glimpse. He knew Wayne would want to gossip later during their nightly talks and if Eddie didn’t have all the details right the old man would just come down here himself.
Eddie’s eyes followed the legs, traveling up your body to your face. His eyes grew wide and his heart stuttered. His lit cigarette fell into his lap. “Shit,” he hissed, frantically picking it up before it did any damage.
You glanced up at the noise, making direct eye contact with Eddie. A wide smile grew on your face and you gave a happy wave.
“Eddie? Is that you?” You asked, using your hand to shield the sun out of your eyes so you could see him.
Eddie wished he could melt into the old wooden planks under his feet. You looked beautiful standing there smiling up at him. You wandered closer, abandoning the open door to the moving truck behind you.
Eddie cleared his throat. “Y-yep. It’s me.”
Your grin grew miraculously wider and Eddie thought he was going to pass out. It had been years since he had seen you up close at this point and you still looked just as good as you did in highschool.
“I can’t believe it. I mean Dustin mentioned you lived here but I didn’t know we were gonna be neighbors!” You said cheerfully, bouncing up the porch steps towards him.
Eddie stood up, because he didn’t know what else to do.
“What are you doing here? I thought you’d be living in some big city by now?” Eddie didn’t mean for his words to come out like that. He thought that they sounded lighthearted but the smile dropping on your face had him second guessing himself.
“Yeah. Life happens I guess,” you said with a forced smile.
There was a brief awkward silence before Eddie spoke up again. “Do you need any help?”
A loud engine and music cut out Eddie’s words as a blue Camaro pulled into the lot, revving its engine obnoxiously. Eddie recognized the car but couldn’t quite put his finger on it.
You went to scurry off the porch. “See you later, Eddie!” You called, rushing to the side of the moving van.
Your reaction bothered Eddie but he didn’t know why. You had started the conversation so cheerful and then he watched the joy drain from your face, like being near him was scary. The feeling made Eddie’s heart drop. Were you scared of him?
The car parked beside the moving van. Eddie dropped his cigarette again, now burnt to nothing but ash, when Billy Hargrove stepped out.
You greeted him with a kiss. Eddie thought he was going to throw up his breakfast right into the grass. There was no fucking way someone as kind as you ended up with Billy fucking Hargrove. Eddie had imagined throughout the years what would happen if he ever ran into you again, he just didn’t ever expect you to be taken by someone else when it happened.
Eddie couldn’t watch as you started moving your belongings into the trailer with Billy. He went inside his own trailer and locked the door.
Tumblr media
“Fancy seeing you here,” Eddie said as Henderson approached his work station. “Don’t tell me your car broke down again?”
Dustin shook his head, looking a little pale. “I need to talk to you.”
Eddie straightened at Dustin’s distressed expression. Even though Dustin was grown now, Eddie still felt an urge to protect him. Eddie motioned over to his boss that he was taking a break and led Dustin through the back door of the building where only the employees parked so they would have some sense of privacy.
“What’s wrong?” Eddie asked as soon as the door was shut behind them.
“Have you seen my sister?” Dustin asked, using the toe of his shoe to push some gravel around.
“Yeah. I saw her yesterday when she was moving in. Why?”
“Can you keep an eye on her for me?” Dustin asked, looking up at Eddie now with a pleading expression.
“Why? What’s wrong?”
Dustin shook his head, looking up at Eddie now. “I don’t like Billy.”
Eddie scoffed. “Yeah. Who does? The guy was an asshole in highschool.”
“Yeah, well that hasn’t changed,” Dustin explained in a mumble.
“What do you mean?” Eddie asked. It wasn’t a surprise but he needed to know if this meant what he thought it meant.
“I mean. He’s used up all her money and she lost her apartment. That’s why she’s back in Hawkins and moving into the trailer park. I didn’t know because I’ve been at school but he’s not nice to her. She’s come home to my house a few times crying until she eventually goes back to him. My mom said it’s just regular relationship drama but it doesn’t feel right.”
Eddie processed the information he was given for a bit. He wanted to jump in his car and drive back to the trailer park right at that moment to check on you. But he knew that if he came on strong it would only push you away. “I’ll listen out for her Dustin.”
Dustin visibly relaxed. “If you see anything, call me.”
Tumblr media
You were out on your porch when Eddie got home that evening.
You smiled and waved. What Dustin had told him about your relationship with Billy stayed in the back of his mind for the whole day.
Billy’s car wasn’t in the driveway, so he thought it would be a good time to talk to you.
“Hey,” you greeted as Eddie approached.
“Hey. How’s the moving in going?”
“Good. I’m mostly unpacked now. I didn’t have that much stuff to begin with,” you told him. Eddie wondered if Billy was the reason you didn’t have that much stuff but he didn’t voice it.
Eddie hummed in response as he leaned against the railing to the steps as nonchalantly as possible. He could feel his pulse hammering in his chest and he felt like he was in highschool again asking you if you had the answers to last night's homework.
“Everything else okay over here?” Eddie asked, suddenly finding his rings more interesting than anything else around him.
When you didn’t answer, Eddie chanced a look up at your face. Your head was tilted and you were squinting your eyes at him like you couldn’t quite figure out what he meant by the question. Eddie felt like you knew what he was alluding to.
“Everythings fine,” you said slowly, pushing yourself up from the plastic chair. “You should go. Billy will be home soon,” you said before going inside without another word.
Eddie kicked himself the whole short walk back to his trailer. He just hoped that he wasn’t stupid enough to cause you to pull yourself away.
Tumblr media
Eddie didn’t ever see anything but he heard it about a week later. You and Billy both came and went from the trailer park without incident. The few times Eddie had seen you, you avoided eye contact at all costs. Eddie wondered if it was because Billy was around both times or if you hated him now.
Trailer walls were thin so he always heard quite a bit of his neighbors' lives. Usually, he would just ignore it and move on. But he couldn’t ignore this.
He was smoking his evening cigarette, barefooted with his hair still wet from his after work shower. He was just about to put it out and head inside for the night when a smashing plate caught his attention. Ears perked, he listened for where it came from. That’s when the yelling started in your trailer.
Eddie got up without thinking. Gravel cut into his bare feet as he crossed from his lot to yours.
“You think you can just break up with me?! After everything I do for you?!”
Eddie didn’t waste any time yanking the trailer door open. You stood up against the wall, tears streaming down your face. A broken plate laid on the floor beside you with a dent in the wall beside your head from where it hit. Billy stood across from you, a bag packed in his clenched hand.
Your wide eyed stare met with Eddie’s. You shook your head slightly, silently pleading for him to go.
Eddie saw red. “Did you fucking throw that at her?!” He seethed.
Billy whipped around, making eye contact with Eddie. “Get the fuck out and mind your business, freak.”
“Don’t call him that,” you snapped, straightening your shoulders.
Billy let out a humorless laugh and pointed his thumb at Eddie. “This why you want me to leave? Because of him.”
“Does it matter? Just go,” you begged.
Eddie made his way closer to you, placing himself between you and Billy in case something else got thrown or he wanted to lash out. Eddie knew he wouldn’t win a fight against Billy but he would try. Eddie knew Billy’s type though, he wanted to beat on someone he knew he could win with. The rumors about Eddie being a fighter around town were too strong for Billy to take the chance. Eddie silently thanked who ever started that rumor.
Billy scoffed, tossing the duffel bag over his shoulder. He exited the trailer with a loud slam of the door, causing the walls to shake. Eddie wasted no time locking the door behind him in case he changed his mind and decided to come back in. Neither of you breathed until you heard his car start and pull away.
“You okay? Did he hurt you?” Eddie asked, assessing you for injury.
You quickly shook your head. “No. I’m sorry you had to see that, Eddie,” you apologized. Eddie could see the walls coming up around you.
“Don’t apologize. Be careful. I’m gonna pick up the plate,” Eddie warned as he picked up the sharp, shattered pieces. “Do you think he’ll come back tonight?”
You shook your head. “No. He’ll go stay the night with some girl in Indianapolis for a week and when he gets bored he’ll come back. That’s why he left so easily. He actually wanted to leave but didn’t want me to think I was in control or something,” you said calmly.
Eddie wondered how often this had happened for you to have it understood like a science. He looked down at the pieces of broken plate in his hands, he wouldn’t say that that was him leaving easily.
“I can go and get some new locks for the door in the morning,” Eddie offered. “If you don’t want him to come back this time.”
“That would be great, Eddie. Thank you so much,” you said.
Eddie noticed the way you kept glancing at the door despite telling him that Billy wouldn’t come back that night.
“Do you want me to stay? I can sleep on the couch just in case?” Eddie asked, not wanting to leave you here alone just in case.
You eventually agreed and called it a night, but not before blocking the front door with a chair just in case.
Billy never came back that night, but like clockwork, showed up a week later trying to get back in.
You didn’t let him in this time, instead flexing that new restraining order to have him removed from the property by Hopper.
“Thank you, Eddie,” you said suddenly one evening during your daily talks. It had been about two months since Billy left and you were doing good. Dustin was even able to come over to the trailer to see you, something you never let him do before.
“For what?” Eddie asked.
“For looking out for me,” you shrugged.
Eddie cleared his throat. “You know, I’ll always look out for you. If you want.”
You raised your eyebrows and did your best to hold in your laugh.
“What?” Eddie questioned, feeling insecure now.
“Are you finally admitting you have a crush on me?” You teased.
Eddie dropped his head in his hands. Of course you knew. And now you were going to laugh at him.
“It’s okay,” you said in a soothing voice. “I guess I can admit that I have one on you too.”
“Really?” Eddie was shocked.
You placed a quick kiss on his cheek. “I’ll see you around, Eddie. Same time tomorrow?”
Eddie nodded, speechless as he watched you walk back over to your trailer. His brain caught up with his body as he jumped up from his seat and ran after you. He wasn’t going to let you get away this time without asking you out on a date.
And when you said yes, Eddie realized the wait had been worth it.

“look! there's gonna be fireworks by the river! can we go, ‘toru? please?” you waved the flyer in front of his face while putting on your best puppy eyes, a little pout accompanying it.
“yeah, yeah, okay fine,” the white-haired man grumbled, snatching the flyer out of your hand and reading through the details. it was the day before you were leaving to study in a different city, leaving him, shoko and suguru in tokyo.
as his cerulean eyes studied the paper, you were already scurrying about, packing more belongings into various boxes lying around in your apartment. satoru watched you from his peripheral vision, noticing how empty your home suddenly looked. it became all too real to him that next week, you would be somewhere entirely unknown.
and he'd be alone with his feelings.
he didn't know when those feelings start to blossom in his chest. when the line between being friends and lovers blurred. was it when you drunkenly confessed to suguru that you’d liked satoru but it'd never work out because his family wouldn't approve? was it when, in that same night, satoru offered to let you stay at his and you mumbled a “thanks, love you” into his fluffy sheets?
maybe it was when you snuck onto the roof of his parents’ house to look at the moon. your favorite pastime. you would always tell him that the moon was just like him to you. always there, always watching over you. but he was also always above you, a constant reminder of how unattainable and untouchable he'd be.
he didn’t know when it became more than just friendship.
never having had those feelings before, he also didn't know how to navigate them. his first course of action was to distance himself from you, in hopes that those feelings would subside. but in the contrary, he missed you so much that he almost spilled like a full glass of water when you asked him if everything was alright in that soft voice of yours.
of course you had noticed, you could read him like a book. it's almost like you had the six eyes instead of him.
the night of the fireworks, you met him at your usual hang-out spot underneath the weeping willow by the river. there were already a few stray fireworks going off, illuminating the sky in one minute intervals.
satoru couldn't take his eyes off of you, hair and makeup done in a way that was only reserved for special occasions. with the summer heat making your skin glow.
you engaged in meaningless small talk, the air thick with the knowledge of your departure the next day. when the announcement came that the fireworks would officially start, you took satoru’s clammy hand in yours to drag him to the side of the river.
as the fireworks went off with loud whistles and bangs, satoru’s eyes wandered over to you. he took in your amazed expression. eyes sparkling in the different colors of the fireworks, skin shiny from the light sheen of sweat you worked up and lips stretched into a big smile.
satoru’s heart jumped into his throat when you turned to face him, flushed cheeks burning.
“thank you for accompanying me here for my last day, ‘toru. it really means a lot.” your gentle voice barely reached his ears over the tumult around you.
he could barely swallow the lump on his throat, gulping hard before awkwardly chuckling. “yeah, don't worry about it.”
leaning over to him, you pressed a chaste kiss on his scalding cheek, watching as his flush traveled to the tips of his ears and down his neck.
“i’ll miss you more than anyone else.”
his heart leaped out of his chest, the words he so desperately wanted to say on the tip of his tongue, his brain screaming at him to just say it!!!
but he swallowed, hard, burying his feelings deep down.
“you're acting like we won't see each other ever again,” he laughed, throwing his arm around your shoulders. you joined in with giggles, leaning into him and feeling his accelerated pulse against your ear.
“we won't for a while.”
the next day, you tearfully said your goodbyes and tried to memorize everyone's scent by hugging them just a few seconds longer. last in line, of course, was satoru.
the world stopped turning for a moment as you locked eyes, yours filling with fresh tears and his burning as well. shoko and suguru gave each other a knowing look, excusing themselves to the convenience store next to your apartment building.
“thank you for coming,” you mumbled, stepping towards his slender figure, tear streaks adorning your hot cheeks.
“what kind of best friend would i be if i didn't see you off?” he replied quietly, his heart jumping to his throat and closing it off.
you wrapped your arms around his slim waist, burying your wet face in his chest. his warm hands found your back, rubbing soothing circles. his lips pressed against the crown of your head with a low hum. little did you know he was fighting back tears of his own, not wanting to seem weak in front of you and his other friends.
he watched intently as the moving company workers loaded the remaining boxes into their truck and closed it off, honking the car to signal their nearing departure.
you sniffled into his shirt, inhaling his scent for one last time before separating from him. ”that's my cue.”
he, along with your other friends that had returned, watched as you got into your car with one last wave. as the engine started running, so did the hot tears down satoru's cheeks. he earned himself ruffle of his hair from suguru and a sympathetic smile from shoko.
that night, after confirming that you got to your new apartment safely, he climbed up to his roof. just like when you were here, he missed your warmth next to him.
as he looked up to the moon shining brightly in the starry midnight sky, his phone vibrated with a message from you.

in todays part: what did chrissy mean by multiple options? is eddie still gonna be standoffish? we’ll see! :D i hope y’all enjoy this part :)
ignore how uhh unrealistic this is lmao it’s very handwavy about pretty much everything <3
Tumblr media
About a week later, just a few days before they were set to leave, Steve and Robin pulled into the address that Chrissy had given them. He was surprised to see that it appeared to be a Universal Home and RV lot. He spotted Chrissy and Eddie standing at the entrance of the building, so pulled up next to the car that was parked near by, having seen Eddie get into it during the in-person ‘interview’.
"Hey, guys!" Chrissy greeted cheerfully. Her warm, summer scent immediately let Steve know she was an omega, which he somehow hadn't known before. He wasn't really surprised, if he was honest.
"Hi Chrissy! Eddie," Steve responded, with a slight nod and shy smile to the alpha.
To his surprise, Eddie smiled warmly and greeted him, “Hey, Steve.”
"And you must be Robin," Chrissy said, reaching a hand out to shake the trembling alpha's.
Steve glanced at Robin to gauge her reaction and grinned at the enamored look she had on her face. He nudged her gently, startling her out of it.
“Oh- um- yes! That’s me! Robin! It is so nice to meet you in person, Chrissy,” Robin reciprocated the handshake. Steve noticed she looked like she was about to go on one of her rambles and decided to spare her the mortification. While Steve, and he doubted anyone else, didn’t mind it, he knew that Robin hated when she couldn’t stop talking.
Steve thought it added to her charm.
Robin thought he was full of shit.
“I can’t help but notice we’re at a dealership,” Steve said, interrupting whatever nonsense was about to cone out of Robin’s mouth. She shot him a grateful look, to which he returned a smile.
“Yes! So, as we discussed, we—Hell’s Fire Records—are responsible for your traveling expenses,” she explained with an easy grin. “The best way to do that, we figured, was to get you your own transportation. And because you two already live together, we figured we could do two birds with one stone and get you guys an RV.”
Steve and Robin stared at the other two in shocked silence, mouths open.
Steve was the first to recover, “You- that’s not- we can’t just accept an entire RV,” he breathed, shaking his head.
Eddie tilted his head with a small grin, “It’s part of the contract you signed.” he explained, “both of you did.” he added with a nod towards Robin.
Steve couldn’t believe what he was hearing, but he'd only had Robin give it a once over. She had said everything looked fine. He supposed, this was probably ‘fine’ in her opinion.
“When it said ‘all travel and accommodations expenses paid’, I expected like, gas reimbursement, or paying for hotel rooms,” Steve exclaimed in distress, “not, fuckin’, an entire RV?”
“Oh, that’s also included,” Chrissy cheerfully explained, as if this was normal and not at all insane. Steve let out a noise that was definitely embarrassing for him to have made, but he couldn’t hold it in.
Eddie’s face softened at the sound, “Steve, we want you guys to be comfortable on the road, and you need space to teach Elodie in.”
Robin seemed to snap out of the reverie she had fallen into just then, “I mean,” she started hesitantly, turning to Steve, “they’re not wrong.”
“What?” Steve asked, turning to her in shock.
“I did see something like this in the contract,” she admitted sheepishly, “I just didn’t think that it would be an RV they bought for us. But it makes sense, because you can use part of the RV for a little classroom.”
Steve brought a hand up to pinch the bridge of his nose and let out a sigh. He took a deep breath, and tried to calm his racing heart.
“Okay. Alright, fine. I guess,” he huffed, still not exactly happy with the information.
“Great!” Chrissy exclaimed, clapping her hands together. She turned towards the building and signaled to someone, which led to someone immediately appearing by their group.
“Ah, Mr. Harrington and Ms. Buckley, lovely to meet you,” the man said, smiling warmly. “My name is Winston Graves, but you may call me Winston. Ms. Cunningham told us a little about what we’re looking for and I chose three RVs for us to view today..”
Then the man was off, leading the group towards the center of the lot. Steve followed reluctantly and listened intently at the description of each of the RVs that Winston had chosen.
One had a bed on top of the drivers seat and a small bedroom at the back of the RV, with a living and a kitchen space between them, as well as a tiny bathroom between the kitchen and the back bedroom.
The second just had two twin beds in the same room at the back of the RV, and the last one was similar in layout, just a bit bigger in size.
Steve was torn between choosing one of the cheaper options—the last two described—or choosing the option that was better for what he needed to do while traveling, but was more expensive. He and Robin discussed it quietly, just out of ear shot of both Chrissy and Eddie.
“It’s more money, Robs,” he seethed quietly.
“You need enough room for a mini classroom,” Robin hissed back with a frown. “Besides, either way, we don’t owe them anything out of this. They’re buying it for us. It’s basically already paid for.”
Steve crossed his arms with a scowl. “You know I hate taking handouts,” he muttered, pressing his lips together in a thin line.
His family was rich, but even before he had been disowned because of his secondary gender, his family was weird about money. They often would buy him something and then expect something in return. For his sixteenth birthday, his biological father had bought him a car. Then, after, lorded it over him to be taken away if he didn’t do exactly what they wanted.
Not that Steve had been able to keep the car after his presentation. He hadn’t. His father had it towed and then probably sold it after.
To say he didn’t enjoy when people bought things for him was an understatement. He felt he had to prove himself to earn it.
“It’s literally part of the contract. Legally, they have to buy this for us,” Robin reminded gently, trying to control her scent to soothe Steve easier.
Steve’s nostrils flared as he scented her and he let out a sigh, “Fine. I think we should choose the first one.” he grumpily admitted.
Robin grinned, “Was that so hard?” she teased with no heat, leading them back to the others to share their decision.
“I’m glad you chose that one,” Eddie said, giving Steve a significant look, as if he knew exactly how their conversation had gone.
Steve smiled tensely and shrugged helplessly. “I needed to chose what would be best for Elodie,” he claimed. It was true, but that didn’t mean he had to like the decision.
“Alrighty!” Winston said enthusiastically, probably because he was about to make good commission, which Steve couldn’t fault the man for. He couldn’t tell what his designation was, likely due to some business mandated scent blockers, but Steve guessed he was either a beta or an alpha, based on how he held himself. Everyone was led into the building, and while Steve and Robin had to sign papers, Chrissy and Eddie were taking care of the payment. Steve felt a bit sick looking at the amount of money that was being spent and tried to remind himself that it was for Elodie.
Once they were done, Steve and Robin waited for the other two to finish doing the payment. The look on the employees face was pure joy, and while Steve wasn’t sure if he got more commission when someone paid in full, he was sure that it definitely didn’t hurt.
“At least we can bring more stuff now,” Robin said quietly beside him. Steve tore his gaze away from the others and looked at her.
“That’s true,” he hummed, tapping his fingers restlessly against the opposite bicep. “We’ll probably be able to drive it to our apartment so packing is easier.”
“Oh! I didn’t even think about that. Does that mean I get to drive?” Robin asked excitedly. While Steve was the primary driver—when they did drive—Robin had her license.
“Yep,” he said, popping the ‘p’, rolling his eyes afterwards.
“Fuck yeah,” Robin cheered quietly.
“Alright, here are the two sets of keys,” Eddie said, holding his hands out to each of them. Steve startled and gripped his chest with a gasp.
“Jesus Christ,” he breathed, relaxing as he reached out and grabbed the keys, “you startled me.”
“Just ‘Eddie’, actually,” the alpha teased with a wry grin. Steve’s cheeks turned pink, and he rolled his eyes in response.
“Ha ha,” he said sarcastically with a huff.
The four of them walked out of the dealership together. Someone must have pulled the RV around front while they had filled out the paperwork and paid, as it was parked next to the cars. Steve let himself be a little excited about the prospect of having an RV—it was one of his dream vehicles, even as a pup. He dreamt of having a family he traveled with. His heart sank, but he shook off the feeling, refusing to feel worse about getting the RV than he already felt.

You Scare Me Professor (Chapter 57 - The Final Chapter)
Tumblr media
Summary: The reader is taking graduate classes at a local university in the wooded upstate New York. She is drawn to her professor, Dr. Joel Miller, though she is also inherently aware that he has something dark about him that she can't quite put her finger on. As the reader's attraction grows deeper, she has to decide whether to endure the danger or run away as fast as possible.
Pairing: Professor Joel Miller x f!reader
Healing. There would be an infinite amount of healing to do; though over the next six months there were little victories that aided in the process. Will plead guilty. It was an act that everyone was shocked about and ultimately it spared Carol a lot of extra heartache that she didn’t deserve. The evidence was already stacked against him, but now that Will admitted guilt, Carol would not have to sit on a stand as a defense lawyer grilled her and tried to twist her trauma around. For that, everyone was thankful.
Upon a leave of absence for the remainder of the school year, Carol returned to her job in September. In turn, she received a standing ovation from the student body and gained the full support of the staff there. Again, another part of the healing process. I knew Carol was hurting, but she persevered and thrived in her profession. She was going to make it because that’s what women like Carol did. They rose above. They made it.
“She even started coaching volleyball,” Joel informed me. “She was all-state in her younger days.”
Joel. My Joel. I had no issue calling him that all the time now. I tried to prove him wrong every day, and after a little bit of time and a lot of convincing I think it’s clear to him now that I will forever keep his secrets.
He went into a temporary retirement, and I changed my mind and pursued the rest of my Master’s Degree online. Without having to twist my arm too much, Joel convinced me to travel a bit to get away from New York State for a short while. It was therapeutic, to say the least.
I allowed him to take me to Nashville near the end of the summer, and then over to the Grand Canyon. We spent two weeks exploring California, extending our stays from a little ranch near the Joshua Tree, up to San Diego where I unsuccessfully tried surfing and concluding in wine country as autumn really set in. We hiked Washington State, made our way to Yellowstone Park, spent a few romantic nights on Lake Michigan before making it back to the East Coast in time for Halloween, where we crashed the small city of Salem, Massachusetts. It was the perfect ending, really.
Joel found us some cheap masks, and we blended in with the crowds that literally paraded every downtown street in the area. It was welcomed chaos and we spent the day taking pictures with spooky characters, sharing laughs, having some drinks and waiting in lines to slink into shops littered with folklore and magic.
When a light rain began near nightfall, Joel towed me away to a rooftop bar at the top of our hotel where he’d made a reservation earlier in the day. A gentle pitter-patter on the roof of the outdoor patio where we sat was relaxing. It was soothing music to our ears after a day of crowds.
From where we towered above the world, we could see two lighthouses in the distance over the blackened water. Below, people still gathered by the masses for whatever attraction, bar or restaurant they were seeking - if anyone.
“Here are your drinks.” A waitress came back to our two-person, high-top table with a pair of martinis and I sighed as she walked away.
“Ready to go home?” Joel asked, smirked as he placed a hand gently on top of mine.
My fingers squeezed around his and I nodded. “This has been a wild ride.”
“Happy Halloween.”
I grinned again and raised my glass. “Happy Halloween.” Our glasses tapped together and Joel leaned two-thirds of the way across to peck my lips. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.” He kissed me another time and then settled back in his chair. At the same time, we took sips from our drinks and I felt my body relax.
“This has been great,” I told him, unable to think of another adjective. “It really revived me.” I gave a nod and looked him in the eye. “How do you feel?”
“A lot better.” He grinned and added, “Thank you for sticking by me. You had every right to run in the opposite direction. You still do.”
“Dr. Miller,” I said sternly, making him chuckle. “I’m going to need you to stop trying to convince me to leave you. Unless you’re secretly trying to get rid of me.” I sipped on my cocktail and kept my eyes on his.
Joel leaned forward, never breaking eye contact. “I would never want that.”
“Then stop saying things like that,” I ordered lightheartedly, leaning back toward him just a little bit.
“Okay,” he agreed, “I’ll work on it.”
“Thank you.” When he lingered, I leaned forward and left a long, closed-mouth kiss on his lips. When I pulled back he was grinning and I chuckled.
“I’m thinking the exact opposite of that, actually.”
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“I want you to be with me forever.”
I felt a blush form on my cheeks and I couldn’t help but smile wider. When Joel leaned back, reaching a hand into the pocket of his khaki pants, I felt like my body went numb. And then he pulled out a small, black box and pushed it across the table. I was frozen. My eyes were glued to the box and if it was anything other than what I thought it was, I knew it would be like a kid opening an empty box on Christmas.
“What’s this?” My words barely made it out past my lips.
Joel’s eyes remained on mine as he opened the box. My eyes dropped, staring at the silver ring in the center of it. A Diamond sparkled even in the dim lighting.
“Marry me,” he said quietly, linking his hands to mine on either side of the ring.
“Marry me.” I repeated the words to myself to make sure I heard them right. “Marry me.”
“Marry me,” Joel said again.
My gaze found his again and finally the tears that welded up in my eyes were tears of joy. “Okay.” I laughed and cried at the same time, “I’ll marry you.”
“Yeah?” He kept his voice quiet as mine grew louder, drawing a few glances from other patrons in our direction.
“Yeah.” I giggled and put my face in my hands as I continued to cry at the same time. “Yes.”
“Are you sure?”
“Joel!” I popped my face up. “Yes! Yes!” People were staring at us now and Joel looked around the immediate area, giving a wave and a smile before returning his attention to me. He reached for the ring in the small, black box and slid the ring on my finger.
I jumped up from my seat and I couldn’t help it. I rushed around the table and threw my arms around him, pulling him in to kiss him hard.
“I thought Halloween was a fitting night for us to get engaged,” Joel admitted, holding me close as he spoke in my ear. “I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
“It’s perfect.” I whispered back, holding him close as my fingers gripped the hair on the back of his head. “I love you.”
“Did you two just get engaged?” A female voice shouted from a few tables away.
We both pulled back, still holding onto one another and I responded by showing off my ring. “Yes.”
The costume-clad crowd in the immediate area all began to clap and I couldn’t contain my wide, beaming smile and the tears that continued to fall. When a waitress got wind of it, she brought us over a bottle of complimentary champagne.
“I know it hasn’t even been a year since we’ve known each other,” Joel said, “But life is too short to wait. You changed my life, (Y/N). I’ve never loved or trusted someone more than you. I don’t want to ever risk letting that go.”
“I know how you feel.” We shared another kiss and then took our glasses toward the edge of the balcony that overlooked Salem. I couldn’t help but smile to myself.
A breeze passed through and made me shudder, causing Joel to pull me close.
“Any regrets?” He asked.
I smiled up at him. “None, whatsoever.”
**Thank you everyone for following this story. I appreciate everyone reading, reviewing and following. It made it fun to write. This is the longest story I've ever written and it's been fun because people were interacting and guessing whole the killer was and I loved it. It made it great for me, as a writer. So THANK YOU!

-
salt air, and the rust on your door. i never needed anything more.
The summer had been perfect. You spent the whole thing in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, with your best friends, and a perfect boy.
You had traveled to the OBX in the middle of June, with your 5 best friends. You guys had rented a house for the summer, you'd been saving for the trips since the end of high school, and you were finally able to go.
You guys spent many days in the sun, getting tan and playing volleyball, swimming in the pool and ocean.
whispers of "are you sure?" "never have i ever before"
On your second week, a group of guys had moved into the house next to yours. One evening while you guys were on the beach they came out and set up next to your group, and one of them had their eyes on you from the get go.
Trevor was something you'd been waiting for for years, a guy that was invested in you, a guy that really liked you and was interested in you.
He would bring you to places you never thought you'd see, places you'd remember your whole life. The blonde would often wake up in your bed, he would smile sweetly and snuggle closer to you, asking for a few more minutes before you guys got up to go to the beach. He took you driving, hiking, you guys would go on runs.
but i can see us lost in the memory. august slipped away into a moment in time, 'cause it was never mine.
You all had to leave on the same weekend, it was the beginning of August, and you were all sad. Before you left, Trevor talked all about how he would miss you, and would call you, and text, and do everything he could to keep contact. You discovered that that wasn't true about two weeks after you guys had left, because his contact faded out then he completely ghosted you.
You were completely heart broken over it. Your friends tried to comfort you, but weren't sure how to. You'd had a whirlwind summer romance, and then abruptly lost it all.
and i can see us twisted in bedsheets, august slipped away like a bottle of wine. 'cause you were never mine.
You had the worst night of your life when your friend showed you a photo Trevor had posted on his Instagram story, which you couldn't see because he had blocked you. It was a picture of him and a girl, with the text reading, "happy 1 year with my favorite!🤍"
You just cried, and cried, and cried. You felt terrible, you had no idea that he was involved with anyone else. He never made an indication that he was cheating with you, he told you flat out he was single the first night you met.
your back beneath the sun, wishin' i could write my name on it. will you call, when you're back at school?
You had dreams of the nights you spent with him. You remember him telling you he'd keep in touch, he would tell you how excited he was for the week you were planned to be in Anaheim in November, since that's where your extended family lived.
Now you were in Anaheim, and all you could think of was Trevor. You sat on the edge of the bed you were sharing with your favorite cousin, sulking as you texted your friends.
"Babe, what's wrong? You've been different since you got here."
You looked up at her, smiling sadly. Quickly you shook your head, turning your phone off and standing up.
"It's nothing, just a long story."
"Well we've got five days, so you better start soon."
You turned and looked at her, and the look she gave you had you spilling it all. You told her every detail, starting July 2nd and ending August 7th, how everything happened after, finding out you were just his side piece while he had a whole girlfriend back home. You cousin was fuming by the end, ranting to you about how he didn't deserve you or your love.
i remember thinkin' i had you. but i can see us, lost in the memory. august slipped away, into a moment in time.
"Hun, it sounds like you need some dick."
You laughed out loud, your hand going to cover her mouth, shushing her quietly. You felt like you were 14 again, whispering to your cool 16 year old cousin about your secret first boyfriend while you slept over at her house.
"Oh my god, shut up! What if my dad heard you? What is grandma heard you?! I would not be let out of the house the rest of this trip."
She giggled as she pulled your hand from her lips, before beginning to beg you to go out with her tonight. She saw the perfect opportunity for you to get out of this house full of old people and little kids, and another to get your mind off of that dickhead.
It took a little bit of convincing, but you finally agreed. Even though you two were 22 and 24, your parents still probably would have a problem with you guys going out so you left the house with sweats over your dresses.
You two sat in the car for a minute, searching for a good bar to drive to. You found one that was only 10 minutes away and started your drive. Your cousin told you that she would have one drink then only water for the rest of the night so you could drink as much as you wanted to.
'cause it was never mine.
You guys found parking a little ways away then walked to the bar. It was crowded when you walked in, surprising to you guys because it was Sunday night.
Your cousin pushed you through the crowd with her hands on your shoulders. You guys finally found a spot open at the bar. She urged you to sit at the one seat while she stood next to you. You flagged down a bartender and ordered your first drink. You sat talking to your cousin for a while before she discovered a group of her local friends there, claiming she'd be gone for just a couple minutes. It'd been almost 30.
You sighed, sadly sipping on your cosmopolitan and checking your phone. You froze when you heard a certain name called through the loud atmosphere of the bar. You turned your head slightly, trying not to make it too obvious, and then you saw him, dapping up another guy you knew, Jamie. Fuck your life. You couldn't fucking believe that out of all the bars in Anaheim he had to be at this one. You turned back around towards the bar, closing your eyes and muttering curse words under your breath.
and i can see us twisted in bedsheets. august slipped away, like a bottle of wine. 'cause you were never mine
"You okay, darlin'?"
Your eyes shot open, looking towards where the unknown voice came from, only to find the owner to be the rather attractive bartender that'd been serving you tonight.
"Oh, uh yeah, thank you it's kind of a long story."
"Well my sections cleared out for now, if you want someone to tell."
You smiled at him, he leaned onto the bar in front of you. He was hot, if you were gonna be honest. He had dark brown hair, brown eyes that looked like honey in the warm lighting of the bar, and a beard that matched his hair. He was sweet, he'd been nice every time he served you. He was also southern, which was so sexy. You had had 2 and a half drinks, so you were a little buzzed, so you were more open to telling him.
"Well before I tell you my sob story, I need to know who I'm telling it to."
He smiled, oh my God his smile was perfect, his teeth were so perfectly straight and white.
"Well I'm Noah, and I'm from Texas, but my dad owns bars out here, like this one. I just work here whenever I'm home because they can always use more hands on deck, but I'm still in school in North Cali."
You started at him the whole time, he just seemed like such a genuine person, and he wasn't hard to look at. You thought the fact that he just worked here whenever he could to help his family was actually so cute.
"That's sweet! You just come here to help your dad?"
He nodded, his smile bringing a light feeling to your chest. You leaned your cheek against your palm, looking to begin your story.
"So Noah, you noticed my reaction to that guy walking in. That reaction was because this summer me and my friends were living in a beach house in the Outer Banks from like the middle of June until August. And so in like July this group of guys started staying at the house next to us and that guy, Trevor, was apart of that group."
Noah nodded, already giving Trevor dirty looks.
"He like was practically my boyfriend for a month and a half, then when he left he ghosted me, and then I see him post his one year anniversary with his girlfriend. One year! Like weren't you sleeping in my bed a month and a half ago?!"
back when we were still changing' for the better. wanting was enough. for me, it was enough. to live for the hope of it all. cancel plans just in case you'd call, and say, "meet me behind the mall."
Noah's jaw had dropped, his eyes wide as he looked between you and Trevor, whom he had a clear view of on the other side of the room.
"That guy fucked you over?"
You nodded sadly, before laughing about it.
"Honestly, I was upset about it but now, seeing him, it's just like he's not the same guy as I thought. He's not really the guy I'm upset about."
"That's real as fuck honestly."
You both laughed at that, you two kept talking for almost thirty more minutes, only breaking your conversation when someone came up for a drink. Your cousin had come over at some point, apologizing for leaving you alone for so long, when you told her you had totally hit it off with the bartender, and she giggled with you before running off when before Noah's smile dropped.
"Not to mention him, but that fuckhead is coming over towards my section."
You rolled your eyes, Trevor didn't make you sad anymore, he just pissed you off. You nodded, taking the drink he'd just made for you from him.
"Hey man, could I get a round of shots?"
He hadn't noticed you, you didn't know if you wanted him to or not. He was literally 5 feet from you, a guy that had seen every inch of you, and he didn't even notice you sitting there. Noah's cheerful demeanor dropped, giving Trevor a look.
"What liquor for how many people?"
"Oh uh um tequila for like 10 people."
"What tequila?"
Noah had known you for an hour and was already hating on your ex-situation like he was his mortal enemy. Trevor told him the brand he wanted and Noah turned to get to work. You kept your eyes on Noah while Trevor looked around aimlessly, until his eyes landed on you.
He was shocked, to say the least. He honestly thought he'd never see you again in his life. He immediately remembered how you told him you were coming to Anaheim for Thanksgiving, and how he told you he couldn't wait to see you then.
so much for summer love,
He liked you, but he also realized that he had a girl at home who still thought they were perfect together. He felt bad when he initially ghosted you, but then he forgot about it within weeks.
He couldn't deny how beautiful you looked, and how seeing you in person brought him right back to July. He wanted to say something, but he didn't know what to say. He had ended the relationship he'd been in just two weeks ago, he felt like seeing you here was a sign. He called your name, two times. The first time you acted like you didn't hear him, then the next you couldn't ignore him.
You turned to him, obviously irritated. You raised your eyebrows at him, a pissed off look on your face.
"What?"
Fuck. Trevor didn't know what to do after that. He stumbled over his words for a few seconds, suddenly nervous.
"Um hey, how are you doing?"
"Are you fucking serious? 'How am I doing?' How can you stand there and ask that after what you did to me?"
"Fuck, let's just talk, okay? I'll explain everything to you baby. Please?"
The name made you want to punch him in the nose. If you were being honest, you wanted to hear whatever explanation he had for it all. But no way in Hell were you gonna forgive him for any of it. You were done, this was just the closure you had needed for all those months.
and saying "us".
"Okay number one, don't fucking call me that; and number two, I will listen to you, but I'm not listening for your benefit, or to forgive you, I'm listening for the closure I need from you. Okay?"
"Yeah fine, sorry. Okay just come on so we can go somewhere more private."
You thought about it for a second, looking towards Noah behind the bar, secretly listening to the whole conversation. You made eye contact with him, mouthing, 'I'll be right back.' To which he nodded.
Trevor caught the interaction, which made his insides twist in anger. But he had no right to be angry, not one part of you belonged to him. You followed Trevor to the hallway by the bathrooms, leaning against the wall while he stood in front of you, far enough away so that you were comfortable.
"So I know what I did was terrible. It was a shit thing to do, but I had a lot of stuff happening at home and-"
"'Stuff' as in a long term girlfriend? Trevor you cheated on someone with me. You acted like you cared about me, ghosted me, then I have to find out I wasn't even the only girl, and that I was the other woman! That makes me a bad person! I felt like such shit for months because of you, and I shouldn't have, because it's all your fault! Not mine, not your girlfriend's, yours."
'cause you weren't mine to lose.
Holy shit. How the fuck did you know about Trevor's girlfriend? He had you blocked on his phone and his girlfriend's.
"Fuck um how do you even- Fuck just I know how bad that sounds okay? But you have to understand that-"
you weren't mine to lose, no.
"I don't think I'm gonna understand anything that comes out of your mouth. Just, leave me alone Trevor, you have had fucked me up enough as is."
Trevor leaned against the wall opposite from you with his head low, defeated. You felt a weight lifted from your shoulders, maybe all the closure you needed was to yell at him good and hard.
"Have a good fucking life, Trevor."
'cause you were never mine, never mine.
With your last goodbye, you sped away from him, before any more bullshit could leave his lips. He was never yours. You understood that now, and honestly it's a good thing he never was, because he was a fucking mess. You hoped he'd find a girl that fixed him, someone that could help him learn peace. But you knew you weren't her, you weren't a girl interested in making a man out of a boy, you wanted a man and that was that.
You walked back to where you sat at the bar, seeing Noah cleaning up the bar top. He looked up and saw you, smiling lightly.
"Hey, are you good?"
You nodded standing next to your seat and smiling back at him.
"So much better, to be honest. I just shouted at him and I think that was my version of closure."
"So you don't think he's coming to get these shots?"
You both laughed as you shook your head at him. You talked for about ten more minutes, before you decided it was time to find your cousin and go home. Noah asked for your number, which you happily gave him. You and your cousin exited the bar, both with smiles, though yours was a bit bigger.
"So you had a good night babe?"
"Very good, actually. That hot ass bartender was like the sweetest guy ever and asked for my number!"
You and your cousin talked the whole drive home as you both described the details of your nights. When you got home, you both slid your sweats back on over your dresses and quietly walked into your grandparent's home, informing your parents of your pre-prepared alibi, saying how you went and saw the Taylor Swift movie, then got dinner.
You both giggled like little girls while you ran up the stairs, then giggled even more ten minutes later in your shared bed when Noah texted you.
Trevor knew that he fully lost you when you walked away from him, but it didn't stop him from unblocking you and scrolling through your instagram.
but do you remember?
4 years later Trevor was single and still playing for the Ducks, he saw a picture from the summer of '23 and you came to his mind. He wondered what you were up to. He wanted to know if you were near Anaheim or anything. He pulled up Instagram, searching your name. What he found shocked him.
When Noah asked you to marry him three years into your relationship it was the easiest decision you had ever made. He was perfect, your dream boy. Then when you married him a year after that, it was easily the best day of your life. Your wedding in the hills of Northern California was absolutely gorgeous, and your honeymoon in Greece was breathtaking.
remember when i pulled up and said, "get in the car!" and then canceled my plans just in case you'd call?
Trevor saw the photos you posted from your wedding two weeks earlier and his jaw dropped, he recognized your husband as the bartender from the night the last time he ever saw you. You looked perfect in your white dress, the caption reading, "Mr & Mrs Moore, 7-29-27." Trevor was truly shocked, he didn't know why though. You were a perfect girl, and it was no surprise someone had lucked out and married you.
back when i was livin' for the hope of it all, for the hope of it all.
He liked the post, accidentally. When you saw the notification, you were confused, but smiled. You hadn't thought of Trevor in years, and now your time with him was all memories. He had made you happy in the moment, and you being sad and moping about him was what led your cousin to taking you to the bar, where you'd met the love of your life, your husband, the man who'd eventually be the father to all of your children.
You were grateful for Trevor Zegras, just for that.
for the hope of it all. for the hope of it all. (for the hope of it all.) (for the hope of it all.)

You and Charles had been together for a while now. Managing to do some long distance when you couldn't travel with him.
Now you were engaged, and you said yes. Knowing you wanted to spend the rest of your life with him.
You traveled more now. Finding yourself in different countries for the majority of the year. But you always went back home when you could. The family and familiarity bringing you comfort.
When Charles asked you to move in with him, you'd been happy. The two of you now completely together. Ready to share your lives with each other.
You were lucky you could take your job anywhere. The traveling often helping provide inspiration for your novel.
Charles made sure you felt comfortable in his, now yours as well, apartment. Making sure you had your favorite foods. He purchased an entire bookshelf just for you. He even stockpiled the apartment with soft blanket.
It was a dream come true for you.
You loved it. Waking up with Charles. Eating breakfast with him. Not having to FaceTime him to say goodnight for half the year.
When the summer break for formula 1 came around, you found yourself wanting to go back to your home country. You'd been back in Monaco for less than a week, but the days had you missing things you didn't realize you would.
You liked it in Monaco. It's your home now. But it didn't stop your mind from wandering back to the streets you grew up on. To your friends and family. The shops you frequented.
That's how Charles found you. Sitting at the table, staring into your cup of tea. Lost in the world of your subconscious.
"Mon Amour? Are you alright?"
His voice dragged out out of your thoughts. Your eyes dragging themselves to his face as he found a spot next to you.
He knew something was wrong. There was really no point in trying to lie when it was written all over your body.
You run your finger around the rim of your glass. Taking comfort in Charles nimble fingers running up and down your arm.
"Just a bit homesick, I guess." You confessed. Sighing at your relentless thoughts. Pulling your heart deeper into its sad state.
Charles hums in response. Considering what you'd said to him. "I think I know how to cheer you up." He smirks.
Charles couldn't take you back to your home country currently. You'd been working ridiculously hard, and he'd been busy doing sim work. He'd get you there soon, but for now, he'd settle for trying to get your mind off things.
An hour later, you were dressed and walking down the streets of Monaco. Nonclue where Charles was taking you. Just giggling as he held your hand and pulled you along with him. The two of you are making conversation about anything that pops into your heads.
Charles was basking in the warmth of your smile. So much so that he almost missed his intended destination. A little corner store with a vintage looking sign reading 'Nook's Books'.
"Here we are." He smiled and opened the door for you. A little bell rang to alert the owner that someone had entered.
Charles watched as your mouth opened in awe. Taking in the shelves lined top to bottom with books new and old. "I thought you might like it."
"Why did I never know about this?"
"It's hidden away, so those who don't know the city will have a harder time finding it. It's our own little corner of peace." He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "I was going to surprise you right before the wedding."
It didn't take long for you to grab Charles' hand and lead him down the rows of books.
You'd found many books that you liked and had picked a spot on the floor to look through them.
Charles couldn't help but admire you. On the floor surrounded by books. You looked adorable in his eyes.
He plopped down next to you and spread out his arms and legs. Inviting you without words to come rest your body against his. You happy oblige. Crawling into the safety of his arms.
You spent hours in the small store. Charles listening intently as you either talked about a book or read chapters from one.
The twobof you finally left when the store was about to close. Having spent so much time there that it was now dark outside. The streets illuminated with the orangey hue of lampposts.
Charles spun you around as you walked, Making you giggle. Completely unbothered by the nightlife of Monaco.
When you two made it to the outside of the apartment building, Charles pulled you into him.
"I know I can't get you back to your family right now, but are you feeling a bit better?"
"Yes, thank you, for everything." Your eyes met his soft gaze.
"No thanks needed. I was simply doing my job." He chuckled. Leaning in closer to you.
Finally, his lips landed on yours. A loving kiss shared between you two. But this time, when he kissed you, you knew Charles was your home.

Joel Miller: Marked Me Like a Bloodstain
Pairing: Joel Miller x fem!reader (afab; she/her)
Excerpt: "Wait," you whispered, "let go."
He did, and you laid him down flat on his back before leaning down on his middle and pressing a soft kiss to the scar. You traced it again, sketching designs of stars and infinity signs around it.
"I'm sorry you went through that," you whispered, and kissed it again, "but I'm glad you're here."
He kept eye contact with you as you did this, and although he'd never admit it, a slight mist lined his eyes. "Me too, baby. Me too."
Warnings: all fluff, Joel's insecure (what's new), descriptions of blood and getting impaled (also what's new), kissing, references to oral sex, major descriptions of scars, please think before you read.
A/N: title feel familiar to anyone else? (I made this title before the breakup rumors I'm so sorry)

The rise and fall of Joel's chest was even underneath your cheek, but the rhythm of his heart was not. With each drag of your nail across his sternum, pecks, and stomach, his heart would escalate and cascade, in perfect tempo with your fingertips. It was like a song, it never ceased to follow, and you couldn't help but smile into his warm skin after a particularly apparent inflation.
A flush of heat on his neck told you he noticed too.
"Somethin' funny," he asked with a chuckle, causing you to only giggle louder into his neck.
"Yes,' you whispered against his pulse point, pecking it slightly.
“I ain’t even gonna try to play it off," he replied, "your fingers are drivin' me nuts."
You placed your free hand on his scruff-dusted cheek and pulled his pouty lips to yours, making him groan delectably as his pointer finger continued its task of tracing over any and every inch of your exposed back.
You were never going to leave his bed.
Your nude body was warm against his own--a mix of the warm meal the two of you had shared and the slowly cooling summer night--as he kissed you back. Usually, on a night like this, you would taste each other until the sun rose, and do it once more for good measure, but not tonight.
Tonight was a jewel, an artifact, a golden crown. It was one of the rare nights that all Joel wanted to do was lie next to you, talk about anything and everything, and just be.
You pulled away and pecked his nose before tucking yourself back into his chest, sighing with relief, but never removing your eyes from his face. These nights were your favorites, purely because you could stare at him endlessly, and memorize him enough that, even in your old age, you would still be able to picture every detail of his face.
The sharpness of his jaw, the streaks of grey in his dark brown hair, the patchiness of his stubble, the exact arch of his nose, the slight wooden hint in his scent, and the drips of honey in his eyes when the setting sun hit them just right.
Naked, in every sense of the word. Your addiction to it would surely be the death of you.
Your fingers continued their mission to feel every part of him as you stared up at him, and he stared down at you, likely committing every bit of you to memory the same way you were for him. You couldn't deny the flood of warmth that bloomed across your chest at the thought.
Your fingers continued their mission to feel every speck of skin on Joel Miller as they traveled lower and lower, and no matter how many nights you had done this, felt as much of him as you could, Joel always stiffened up when you did. Always. And this time was no different.
You had found that words never seemed to help him shred himself of his insecurities, no matter how poetic the prayers that fell from your lips.
It's me, Joel, only me.
Please, don't hide from me, baby.
I love you. Let me know you.
Nothing. It was when your lips were used for other purposes that Joel's body began to meld into the mattress.
As your fingers traced every mole, mark from the sun, freckle, and scar, your lips pressed a kiss onto his chest, bicep, neck, and face, alternating between them all. He exhaled, finally letting go, as his eyes fluttered shut.
"I love you," he whispered, eyes still closed but lips parted in rhapsody, "I love you."
You didn't respond with your words, only another kiss.
His deep breaths filled the air as your fingers made their way down, down, down to his lower stomach. They made it to the two moles above his belly button, one of your favorite places to admire on him, but as they made their way further and further to his left side, the muscles on his abdomen began to tighten, and his breaths shallowed.
You removed your lips from his collarbone at the feeling. "Joel--"
"No," he whispered huskily, pressing a kiss to your forehead as he said, "Keep goin'."
You nodded, and he pressed kiss after kiss to your hairline as your fingertips went from soft skin to a long stretch of indented, deeply textured skin. It was wide, and rugged, and old. You felt over every inch of it, noting how it felt deeper towards the center, but more soft on the edges.
You propped yourself up slightly to look at it; its stretch across his abdomen, its darkened tone, and how it was slightly raised from the rest of his tanned skin.
It was the biggest scar you had ever seen on his body, and in your life.
"How have I--" you began, looking back at his solemn face, "--how have I never noticed this before?"
"I never let you," he responded, his tone full of both disappointment and relief, "never wanted you to see it."
You couldn't help the tears that lined your eyes as you asked, "What happened?"
And he told you. Every detail. How it felt when the pipe entered his body, how it felt pushed up against his organs, and how it felt coming out. He described everything from that point on as hazed and muffled, except for the look of fear in Ellie's dark eyes.
"That's what kept me walking," he said, wiping the tears from your cheekbones as he spoke quietly, "her eyes. Her need for my heart to keep beatin'."
He described the next few months as dream-like, like he never really knew when he was awake or not, unaware what was real or figments of his imagination.
"It was hell," he said, "but she stayed with me through it all, and she's the reason I'm alive."
You nodded, understanding that in order to keep himself sane, he had to focus on Ellie's role in it, not his own.
Still, you couldn't hold your tongue as you said, "I'm sorry you had to go through that."
He shook his head at your tears and kissed your forehead once again. "S'alright, got some of the best sleep of my life."
You laughed breathily into his chest as he held you close, once again running his hands up and down your naked back as he did. He exhaled deeply, like he had finally gotten a heavy weight off of his chest, and you pressed a kiss to the middle of his sternum.
But you weren't done yet.
"Wait," you whispered, "let go."
Me too."
You laid down on top of him, completely letting your body weight onto his, and tucked yourself into his neck once again. You always loved how well it fit there. His hands went up into your hair to massage your scalp, and you practically hummed.
"I don't mind bein' scarred," he said into your hair after a few beats of silence, "means I'm still survivin', and that means I'm still with you."
You smiled against him, and the unique silence of understanding between two people who know each other better than anyone else was the only thing that filled the room. These moments, this silence, was priceless.
"Besides," Joel said suddenly, carving through the silence huskily, "marks are good, means it meant something."
You nodded, murmuring a small "mhm" as you did. Your eyes were beginning to grow heavy, and the depth of his voice was only lulling you more.
"You've marked me, in a way," he said against your face, and your eyebrows came together in confusion.
"Yeah, not in a scar way though," he said, and brought your hand to his beating chest, "but just as permanent. More like in a...a bloodstain way--a good bloodstain--in here. You've marked my heart with it."
Your eyes met his own, and it didn't take you thirty seconds before you both started laughing in perfect symphony.
"A 'good bloodstain'," you said through your laughter, feeling a tear drip onto your face once more, "I never took you for a poet, Miller."
"Well, I ain't," he said in reply, his face beginning to flush, "that's why that was so terrible."
Through the both of your smiles you were still able to kiss him, whispering against his lips, "I know what you meant."
Because you did. You had marked each other, internally, in a way that could never be removed, and as you kissed him one last time before falling asleep wrapped in warmth and love, you couldn't help but agree with him.

NBA/ NDA - Sergio Perez x SingaporeanOlympicBasketball! Reader
Plot: You were hot shit in Singapore and America where you played for a women's NBA team. As a professional whose also performed for the WBNA and for a home Olympic Team, you deserve a night out clubbing.
Credit to perstappen for the GIF
Tumblr media
You'd just won gold for Singapore in Women's Basketball Team and you couldn't be prouder of you, your team and the support from your country.
You'd moved away from Singapore when you were 16 with your family to live in New York to be able to participate in the WNBA. You went to a high-school before getting into a college on a basketball scholarship. You played for your university team before being scouted for New York Liberty and playing with them.
Then you had the option in 2020, to start training for the summer Olympics in 2024 with a basketball team in Singapore, it was a lot of travel back and forth between American and Singapore to the point where you knew the first class air hostesses on all Qatar Airways flights.
Training for two separate teams was very hard however you had such a growth in fans over the past few years even being invited to the Met Gala and various other events that had you further in the eye of the media.
Tonight you were celebrating with the girls from your home team in Singapore. All your hard work had paid off and you were currently in one of Singapore's finest clubs.
You were at the bar, watching your friends dance with their partners who'd they'd invited along with them to see the game. You didn't have a special someone to celebrate with, just the girls but they of course were all occupied.
"What's a girl like you doing here by yourself!" a voice says next to you, making you look at the man who was sipping from a small glass he held.
"I'm not by myself, I'm with friends!" you explain looking over his soft features.
"Well, you've been here for an hour and you haven't spoken to anyone" he says making you laugh a little.
"So, what you've been watching me for the last hour? You want an NDA with me or something?" you chuckle not understanding this guys m-o.
"No, no I just thought I'd come over and say hello, I saw you win gold. Congratulations" he smiles offering you a drink which you take suspiciously until the bartender gives you a nod that it's safe.
"You were there?" you ask raising your voice a little above the music.
"Yeah, I was here for the race. Was given tickets from my team!" he answers and that when your drunk mind really looks over his features and you remembered seeing him on a Red Bull advertisement.
"Oh! You are a driver! In F1 right? Red Bull?" you ask looking over him again as you say it to make sure you don't sound stupid.
"Yes, how'd you know?" he asks with a laugh.
"You were on the can of my drink!" you smile, showing the can next to the JaeagerBomb you'd just inhaled.
"Both athletes then!" he smiles and you nod.
"Yep! How'd you find it with all the travelling?" you ask, knowing you'd struggled going between just Singapore and New York.
"It's hard, but seeing all the different places and people is what makes it so great" he smiles. The drinks start to get to you and in seconds you've grabbed his hand.
You took him onto the dance floor, letting your body do the talking as you danced against the man that was probably older than you'd normally go for but you'd had too many drinks to look at those fine details.
His dancing was awkward at first but eventually when he got into it you both weren't caring at the eyes or cameras on the pair of you having fun.
"Hey! We should so play one on one basketball one time!" you shout at him and he nods.
"I'll need your number for that handsome so i cant set a date!" you ask boldly and he nods, taking your phone and putting his number into it.
The rest for you and Sergio, was history.

Hello, lovely followers. I was traveling for work again in the second half of this past week, but I'm now home and looking forward to answering all of your Asks that I've been seeing in my inbox. I first wanted to reflect a little bit, however, because this trip was also a personal one for me.
This week's travels took me to Anaheim, California, which is where Disneyland is (I think I actually must've not been far from where David and Georgia just were, funnily enough, as my hotel was right by the park). It wasn't my first trip to Anaheim, though. The last time I was there was when I was 11 years old, on summer vacation with my dad in California while my mom was on a tour in Italy at the same time. As you'd expect, my dad wanted to take me to Disneyland...but I was too scared and overwhelmed, and we only ever got as far as the parking lot. The gates were visible, and I remember how they loomed, that feeling of something foreboding washing over me...but rather than excitement, my tiny body was filled with dread. I mentioned this while in conversation with one of the hotel employees during my stay, and he said, "What kind of kid doesn't want to go to Disney?"
What kind of a kid. Well, an autistic kid. A kid who was constantly anxious, emotional, and terrified of sensory overload. A kid who hated crowds and noise and rides. A kid who didn't travel well to begin with, because she was afraid of new places, anything unfamiliar, anything that wasn't safe and home.
A kid who was me.
Even before this, there were so many ways that the world had said "This is not for you." But still, there was something different about it happening there, in the bright California sunshine. My favorite Disney princess as a kid was always Belle, because she also loved to read and didn't fit in with the people around her. Belle connected more with books and animals than people, and that made me connect with her. But Belle was also beautiful (as Disney princesses tend to be), and thanks to the bullying from my peers, I was very aware that was something I was not. So no matter how much I wanted to be Belle, there was no way I could ever be a Disney princess.
This is not for you.
Thinking about all of this during my trip made me feel so many things, but I was most surprised to find myself feeling a sense of nostalgia in particular, a longing for the child I was, who I wish I could comfort. It also made me feel such sadness for that child and anyone else who finds themselves in a situation or a place where the world thinks they should be happy, but they're not. And there are few things more difficult than feeling that way in (of all places) "the happiest place on Earth."
I didn't end up going to Disney on this trip, even though I had a little bit of time to do so. It's still not for me, but the difference now is that I am okay with that. That need to be the kid who wants to visit Disney--the "good" child, the child who isn't "broken"--has gone away, and I'm more than happy being adult me, and finding a place that fits me, instead of the other way around.
And that was my nostalgia trip, in quite the literal sense of the phrase. I have a picture or two to share in another post, so stay tuned for that as well...

It was a Saturday night in Barcelona, and you were holed up in your room, feet tucked under you, a knitted blanket over your shoulders as you read over the words in front of you for the hundredth time.
While the city was alight with people getting drinks, dancing, and laughing, you silenced your phone, closed your blinds, and put your headphones on to quiet any outside noises.
You had decided to stay in this weekend, caught up in writing an essay for your criminal law class that was worth 50% of your grade. Safe to say you did not take it lightly. You had been hunched over your computer for the last nine hours, brain numb and fingers aching as you had tried to come up with a thesis and strong argument for your essay. You had blocked out this weekend to finish the essay, letting everyone know ahead of time not to contact you unless it was an emergency, including Gavi.
Gavi had been gone for the last couple of days, traveling around Europe for the last leg of La Liga, and he had been adamant about spending as much time with you as he could once he got back - before his summer schedule kicked off. However, that hope was quickly cut short when you informed him you most likely wouldn’t be able to see him at all this weekend due to you being stuck finishing your essay.
Although he had tried to convince you to change your mind, bribing you with the idea of endless cuddles and then promising to be as silent as possible while you wrote when his first idea didn’t work, you relented, knowing that having him around would be a major distraction, one that you couldn’t afford.
“I’m sorry Pablo I don’t think I can this weekend. What about Monday?” You asked hopefully.
He sighed over the phone, his face pulling into a frown, “I can’t. We’re leaving Monday morning for France.”
You bit on your lip, feeling bad, “I’m sorry I just really need to focus this weekend.”
He nodded, “I get it. It just sucks. I wanted to see you at least once before I’m gone again. But it’s fine – I’ll survive.” He replied dramatically.
You grinned, “Well I’ll miss you Pablito.”
“I already miss you.”
The smile on your face only grew as your heart warmed at his words, “I’ll text you if anything changes. Have a great game, I’ll be watching.”
He gave you a wink, “Damn gotta show off now that my girls watching.”
You giggled at him, “Bye Pablo.”
He mocked your tone playfully, “Bye Y/n.”
That was last week, and now you were nose deep in your essay, textbooks scattered around you as you looked for possible quotes to strengthen your thesis. You had been so busy scanning the words on the page that you hadn’t noticed your phone buzzing non-stop next to you.
Once you saw the glow of your phone screen curiosity got the better of you and you flipped it around seeing you had eight missed calls from your best friend.
Your eyebrows knitted in confusion, it was almost two in the morning, she would for sure be at a club right now, happily dancing the night away with your friends, so why was she consistently calling you?
The phone buzzed once again and this time you were quick to answer.
“Hello, Gia, what’s going on?”
Her voice was slurred on the other end, but you could sense the panic regardless, “Y/n? I don’t know where I am, I was with the others but then I went to the bathroom, and I then couldn’t find anyone anymore. And this guy won’t leave me alone-”
“Gia, where are you? I’ll come get you.” You cut off her rambling, already rushing to put on your shoes, essay long forgotten.
She hiccupped, “I’m at Macarena. I’m sorry no one else answered.”
“No, no problem at all. I’m coming right now, Gia. Don’t move. I’m glad you called.” You comforted her.
The club was only a twenty-minute walk from your house, and seeing as you didn’t have a car or the time to wait for public transport, it was your best option.
You cursed yourself for not answering sooner as you rushed to get your keys, grabbing a random hoodie on the way out.
Although summer was beginning to creep into Barcelona, the nights were still chilly with cold winds rushing through the area.
You sped through the streets, walking with purpose as you finally reached the club. You were severely underdressed for the club wearing a random hoodie and yoga pants. You saw the line for the club was still extremely long, wrapping around the corner and you knew you had no time to waste.
You took a deep breath, mentally preparing yourself, you were never one to break any rules or ask for any special favors, but now seemed like a good time to start.
You walked up to the club bouncer, ignoring the nasty look the guy at the front of the queue was sending you, “Excuse me. I need to get in right away, my friend is inside alone, and I need to help her.”
You heard the guy next to you scoff.
The bouncer looked at you unimpressed. “Sorry sweetheart. You want to get to her, you have to wait in line.”
You relented, “Sir please, just look at my outfit,” you said gesturing to yourself, “clearly, I’m not here to party, I just need to get my friend and leave. You can even come with me!”
He gave you an apprehensive look, taking in your appearance, “I can’t leave my post.”
You groaned, “Fine, then can someone else escort me? I can literally call her right now. She’s not in the right head space.”
He squinted his eyes at you, “You look familiar.”
It finally clicked. This is where you had gone with Gavi and his team, celebrating after they had won a final a few weeks ago. They had treated you like royalty, blocking off a whole section just for you, the club owner even making an appearance to congratulate the team.
You didn’t like to use the fact that you were dating a well-known athlete as a way to get special privileges but if it meant helping your friend then you would do it.
“Yeah, I was in VIP a few weeks ago. I know the owner, so please let me in.”
“What’s his name?”
You racked your brain trying to think of that night, “Santiago. It was Santiago!” You replied, finally remembering.
The bouncer gave you a once over before he finally nodded begrudgingly, “Fine – but be quick.”
You heard the other people in line begin to argue but you quickly thanked the bouncer, rushing inside, not wanting to wait long enough for him to change his mind.
God bless Gavi.
The place was packed, bodies pressed together so closely that you had to squeeze in between heavily making out couples and groups of friends to make your way to the middle. The strobe lights were going crazy, changing every few seconds to the beat of the music. There was a DJ booth twenty feet above the crowd playing EDM Spanish music and the crowd was going insane, chanting along.
You hit your head on your forehead as you realized you forgot to ask her where she was.
You pulled out your phone, letting out a breath of relief when she answered, “I’m here Gia. Where are you?”
“I’m at- I said no, stop, I’m at the bar.” She huffed. You felt your anxiety rise, who was she talking to?
“Ok, I’m coming.”
You pushed through the throngs of people, finally spotting the bar, seeing her leaning against the counter, hands flying as she argued with someone.
You walked towards them hearing the tail end of their conversation, a bad feeling in your stomach.
“Gia!” You yelled, coming to stand next to her.
She gave you a relieved look, falling into you, the effort of standing up being too much.
You caught her, hugging her back.
“Oh wow – two for one. I got a buddy that would love you.”
You steadied Gia looking up to see the guy she was talking with giving you a smirk.
You held his gaze, annoyed, “No thanks. We’re leaving now.”
You went to turn but he caught your wrist pulling you back, the drink in his hand sloshing,
“Woah, don’t go yet, the fun’s just getting started. Look my buddies are in VIP we can hook you up.”
You yanked your hand away, giving him a disgusted look, “First don’t touch me. Second, we’re leaving.”
“You’re not leaving.” He persisted.
You raised an eyebrow, “Fucking watch me.”
He reached for you again, but you were prepared, grabbing his hand, and flinging it off you, as you weaved into the crowd, ignoring his shouts.
You let out a breath as you stepped outside of the club, grateful for the cold air after sweating through your hoodie in the packed club.
You adjusted your hold on Gia, holding her waist as you started the trek back to your apartment.
She stumbled over her steps as you walked, giggling, “Oh my god Y/n your bleeding!”
You gave her a confused look, dragging her, “What?”
She giggled again, reaching for your hoodie, “It’s coming from your stomach, look it’s red!” She pointed at your shirt.
You looked down and you stopped in your tracks, breath hitching as you began to panic, “Oh shit Gia I’m wearing Gavi’s hoodie!”
She stopped as well, letting go of you as she plopped onto the ground, staring up at you,
“So?”
“So? He’s going to be so mad at me. That dick spilled his drink on me. This is a white hoodie – who knows if it will come out?” You stressed.
“It’s-" she hiccupped, “fine.”
You shook your head, “No It’s not it’s his favorite hoodie, I didn’t even realize I was wearing it. Fuck, I have to clean as soon as we get home.”
You started walking before you realized she wasn’t following you.
“Gia?”
You turned around to see her slumped against the sidewalk, eyes closed.
You rushed to her side, shaking her, “Gia? Gia, are you okay?”
She hummed, “I don’t feel so good.”
“Can you walk? We’re almost halfway there.” You asked, helping her sit up so she was leaning against you.
She groaned, “I’m going to throw up.”
You looked around anxiously, unsure of what to do. You had left the main strip of clubs and restaurants, and were now on a back road, walking in an area that was dimly lit and that you weren’t too familiar with.
“I can call an Uber.”
You reached into your pocket, cursing yourself as you realized you had forgotten your wallet in the rush to get to the club.
“Shit, I don’t have my wallet. Do you have yours?”
“Antonio.” She groaned, leaning her head against your shoulder.
You let out a huff, contemplating what to do. You attempted to get her to stand up once again, desperate to get out of the area, but she couldn’t stand, and you weren’t strong enough to carry her the rest of the way. You chewed on your lip debating a solution, but you didn’t want to do it unless it was the absolute, last, last resort.
You spent the next five minutes calling all your friends, but no one answered. You groaned, frustrated, knowing you had run out of options.
You heard your friend beginning to doze off and you shook her, “Gia stay awake.”
She moaned, “Y/n I really don’t feel good. I don’t know what’s wrong.”
Your finger hovered over the contact, and you finally pressed it, feeling the guilt build inside.
It rang seven times before going to voicemail. You called back.
On the third ring, the line finally connected,
“Y/n? Why are you calling me so late?” Gavi’s voice was thick with sleep, his words murmured.
Hearing his voice sent a pang of relief through you, and suddenly you didn’t feel so alone,
“Gavi I’m sorry. I really need your help.”
He was up in an instant, wide awake, “What’s wrong?”
“I’m stuck in the middle of the road with Gia. She got drunk and I went to get her but now I’m worried there’s something wrong. She can’t get up and we’re all alone. I don’t have any money. I called our friends, but no one answered, I-I didn’t know what to do.” You rushed out.
You heard his breath accelerate on the other end of the line, “Ok don’t worry baby I’m coming. Send me your address, everything’s going to be okay. Just stay on the phone with me.” He reassured you.
You nodded before realizing he couldn’t see you, “Thank you so much Gavi.”
You heard his car door open, “Anytime. If anything happens like this again you call me first, okay?”
“Okay.”
You stayed on the phone with him, rubbing Gia’s shoulder to comfort her, readjusting her whenever she began to doze off.
Finally, you saw a familiar car pull onto the street, and you waved your hands, trying to get him to see you.
The car made a quick turn and then Gavi was rushing out, a worried look on his face,
“Oh thank god you’re okay. I was so worried.”
“I’m so sorry for waking you. Thank you for coming.”
“Y/n stop apologizing.” He said, helping you carry Gia to the car.
Upon feeling that she was being lifted, her eyes shot open, “Y/n what’s going on?”
She glanced over to her left seeing Gavi before she turned to look at you, it took two seconds for her eyes to widen and then she was whipping her head back, “Gavi? The hell y-you doing here?”
You giggled at her abruptness, “I had to call for help.”
She turned to you, snuggling into your shoulder affectionately, “You’re the best Y/n. She was a rockstar today.” She spoke, as you both pushed her into the car.
Gavi raised his eyebrow at you as you both got in, “A rockstar eh?”
You rolled your eyes, “She’s just spewing nonsense.”
Gia groaned in the back, hands clumsily coming to slap your shoulder, “Ehh don’t lie Y/n. You should have seen the way she talked to those guys – even I was scared.”
You saw Gavi’s grip on the steering wheel tighten, his posture stiffened as he looked over at you,
“Guys? What guys?”
You opened your mouth to reply but Gia beat you to it.
“This one guy, he kept trying to get me to come with him, but then Y/n was like no way we’re leaving, and then he started hitting on her, but then he tried to grab her, and she karate chopped his hand! He was so embarrassed!”
You felt yourself blushing at her recollection of events, “I did not karate chop his hand!”
“Yes, you did. It was like in midair when he was talking about his friend that liked you, and then I blinked, and it was gone!”
“Did he try anything?” Gavi’s voice was hard, as he looked at you.
You shook your head, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder, “No don’t worry. We were fine.”
You felt his body relax under your touch, and one of his hands came to grip your own, “You should have called me sooner. I’m sorry you had to deal with that asshole.”
You felt your heart flutter at his words, “Don’t worry I handled it. But thank you, next time I will.”
Soon you were pulling up to your apartment and hauling Gia up your steps.
“I really wish we had an elevator right now.” Gia groaned as she was being half pulled, half carried up the steps.
You made eye contact with Gavi after hearing her statement, and you had to bite your cheek not to laugh out loud,
“You and me both G.”
Finally, you reached your apartment, and all let out a sigh of relief as she fell onto your bed, passing out almost immediately.
You cringed as you saw her head land centimeters away from the sharp edge of one of your textbooks.
You reached over, clearing the space so she was able to sleep without the risk of a concussion.
You looked up once the area was cleaned to see Gavi looking at you intently, a weird expression on his face almost like he was stuck in his thoughts.
“What? Is everything okay?” You asked unsure, looking down at yourself.
That’s when you realized.
You were still wearing his hoodie, the one that had a massive red stain on it now thanks to the jackass at the club.
You had completely forgotten about it.
You quickly apologized, “Gavi I’m so sorry. Gia called and I was so worried so I grabbed the first thing I could find – and then the guy kept grabbing me and had this drink – anyways,” you let out a huff, “I’m really really sorry, I can buy you a new one.”
Gavi stared at you in surprise, shocked by your outburst, “Y/n relax. It’s okay.”
“I’m sorry I know how much you love this sweatshirt.”
Gavi shook his head slightly smiling, you were just so adorable, and he physically couldn’t hold back the words he’d been dying to say any longer, “I love you more though, so it’s fine.”
“Wha-what?” You stumbled over your words, clearly not expecting such a big revelation.
“I said I love you.” He said it with so much confidence, almost like he was reciting a fact, something that couldn’t be changed, and you melted a little at how sure he sounded.
You didn’t know what to say, your brain still playing those three words on a loop. He loved you. He had said it first.
The silence stretched on and now it was his turn to get nervous, “Is that okay?”
Your mouth was still open in shock, but you quickly recovered,
“Yo-you love me?” Your voice cracked.
“Well, yeah… why would I not?” He asked, eyes locked on yours.
You shook your head, a smile gracing your features as you took a step closer to him, “I love you too, and I’m sorry-”
He cut you off with a sweet kiss, pulling you closer into him, as he slid his hands under the sweatshirt, fingers gently squeezing the soft flesh of your hips.
Your lips moved in sync and your hands went to play with his hair, gently tugging.
You heard him let out a groan and you bit his bottom lip instinctively.
He pulled away out of breath, a dazed look in his eyes, “Joder, you can ruin all my hoodies if this is how you apologize.” He muttered breathlessly.
You rolled your eyes, smiling as he brought you back into him for another kiss.

when i was drowning - [p.jackson]

warnings: almost drowning

I should have known going swimming on my own would become a disaster. But technically, it was also the best day of my life.
Being a daughter of Hades is hard. Being the sister of Nico di Angelo is hard. Being a demigod is hard. But being in love with Perseus Jackson? That is the opposite of hard.
His sea green eyes that sparkle when he laughs. How he runs his hands through his scruffy black hair, making it even messier. How he fights with his shiny sword like nobody's watching. How he cares for the new campers, jokes with his friends, and always eats blue food if he can manage it.
I think it’s impossible not to fall for Percy Jackson. It’s the easiest? most natural feeling in the world.
Anyways, I’m a bit of a loner. Most campers don’t tend to want to hang out with the creepy death twins, so both Nico and I decide to be alone most of the time. Over the years here at camp, Nico has been in and out a lot, shadow travelling all over the world and even into hell once.
I’ve stayed here at camp all this time. I spend my time alone. I’ve tried to redecorate the Hades cabin (Nico made some terrible decisions as a young child and I am desperate to fix it). I do classes alone or sometimes with the Apollo kids (Will Solace is dating my brother, and he is like a brother to me).
Sorry, I’m getting off topic. Solangelo does that to people.
So on that shiny summer morning, Im walking down the dirt path to the lake. I’m glad I’m alone. I’d never dare to swim with someone else. No that anyone would want to do that with a Hades kid. We’re “creepy and dark and mysterious” or whatever. Which isn’t true. Yeah, I’m a introvert, but so are a lot of other people.
I have the weirdest feeling someone is watching me. I whirl around, but see nothing. Huh. I decide to ignore the strange feeling and just relax a little.
I wander down to the canoe lake, strip down to my sports bra and bike shorts, and dive off the end of the pier.
Unfortunately, I misjudged my dive. I landed wrong, felt my leg bend weirdly, and plummeted into the water. My head hits something hard, and everything goes black.
The next time I open my eyes, they see the somewhat blurry ceiling of the infirmary. Yellow light fills the room, warm and sunshiny and very Apollo cabin themed. I’m not sure I like this aesthetic so much.
“Y/n!”
It’s Nico. He rushes over and sits down on a stool beside me. “Damn, are you okay?”
I groan, my head suddenly spiked with pain. “Um. I think so? What the hell happened?”
Nico raises an eyebrow. “Y/n, you almost freakin drowned. What were you thinking? Going to swim alone?”
“I’m sorry,” I say, wincing. “So… what happened?”
Nico gives me a look. “You hit your head, we think. You would’ve drowned, you know. Except for Percy…”
I’m immediately paying attention. “Percy?” I ask curiously.
Nico looks slightly amused, and also annoyed. “Yeah, Percy Jackson. You were gonna drown, but he saved you. Lucky he happened to be walking past, which is weird, cause he was supposed to be at archery practice then.”
I flush slightly. “He… he saved me?”
Nico nods. “Gods, you’re hopeless. Stop getting all flustered over him.”
“Hey!” I complain. “Says you, whenever Will walks in the door.”
“Shut up.”
I smirk, and even though my head hurts something awful, Percy Freaking Jackson saved me in a canoe lake today. And that’s enough to make this my best day ever.
