Summary: Five ways Steve has bitten or has wanted to bite Tony.

Reasons why I love it: A collection of time stamps of their developing relationship that feel very real and make my heart melt every time I read this fic. Steve's characterization in this is especially amazing, the way his developing feelings for Tony are conveyed with so few words is really great. Some parts of the fic are hot as hell and others will give you cavities, they're so sweet. Smut, fluff, angst, this one has it all!

Falling Backwards (Till it Turns Me Inside Out) by Aeraneth

Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: T Words: 5,706 Tags: Villain Steve Rogers (kind of), Angst with a Happy Ending, Canon Divergence

Summary: It’s Nomad against the Avengers, a Hydra patch on his shoulder, a gun pointed at Iron Man’s head, and a doomsday machine running down the clock behind him. He’s the only one standing in the way of them saving the world. Steve doesn’t know how he got here.

Reasons why I love it: This one is so criminally underrated, it makes me want to cry. Not only does Aeraneth absolutely nail the tone, they also used a really cool format wherein the story is told backwards, kind of Memento-style. It works beautifully, and the plot along with the Stony in it is just absolutely delicious. Definitely a must-read if you like angsty fics with a happy ending!

Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: T Words: 1,858 Tags: Space AU, Soulmates, Meet-Cute

Summary: Another day, another lonely night in space port. Weary traveller Tony meets his destiny in a quaint little bar on Manhatta.

Reasons why I love it: This fic combines so many things I love (which makes sense, because Neb graciously wrote it for me, hurhurhur) – aliens, musician Steve, incredible world building, so many little jokes and touches that really bring the world together. Add to that soulmates and a nod to future tentacle fun, and you get one very happy Kandi. I love this fic so much, so please go read it and give it some love!

Reasons why I love it: Steve's pain here is so visceral and heart-breaking, and Tony as the supportive boyfriend just warms my soul. I love Sarah Rogers as a character, and seeing a fic that so lovingly commemorates her is amazing. Definitely a must read!

Summary: Having a threesome with Mark 42 was Tony's idea. Of course, he enjoys watching Steve with the suit more than he thought he would.

Reasons why I love it: Armor porn? Fuck yes. This fic is not only scorchingly hot, but I really love the fact that Tony can see not just his outside point of view but also what the armor sees as it's fucking Steve. It's the perfect mix of smut and sweetness. Give this fic a read if you like incredible armor fondueing!

Rhapsodic (by Laura Thalasaa) 2 ⭐️-- despite being amazing, with plot, romance, smut, everything but it was highly racist (side character portraied in demeaning stereotypical way) it lost stars and I won't be finishing the series

The Kraken's Sacrifice (by Katee Robert) 5⭐️-- I loved everything about this book, the diversity, the romance, the smut, the way it handled difficult topics. Absolutely amazing

The Dragon's Bride (by Katee Robert) 3.75 ⭐️-- short book but it was lovely both in romance and smut, although it felt rushed

The Court of The Vampire Queen (by Katee Robert) 4.5⭐️ -- amazing, plot was good, spice was better and romance was even better, loved the polyamorous relationship. It's not a 5 ⭐️ bc it lacks diversity

The Demon's Bargain (by Katee Robert) 4.75⭐️ -- I am absolutely in love with the author, I'm convinced everything she does is good. As always perfect spice, loved that one of the MCs is non binary and that they talked about boundaries before s*x. Ending was a bit rushed though

A Dance with the Fae Prince (by Elise Kova) 5⭐️ -- Everything about this book was perfect, the world building, the slow burn, the romance and even the plot even if ir was a little predictable. Looking forward to reading the next one

Forever Theirs (by Katee Robert) 4.5⭐️ -- it was so good, even if it wasn't a fantasy book, I still loved it and that's a big win. Perfect mix of love, smut and plot, the throuple was well portrayed and dreamy

@nikethestatue I don't think I can ever top the "miss fluff and smut" meme in terms of a laugh, but fluff and spice aren't the only hats you wear. You mix plot and world building and lore, then break down our emotions before rebuilding them. Your characters are like an extension of canon, and each time I see an update, I want to drop everything.

@tswaney17 you have the variety, the talent, the everything... and I'm in awe. Modern AU or canon compliant, fluff or angst or plot, you truly have something - and then some - for everyone. Plus Shadow the kitten, who deserves his own spin-off.

A powerful character study for both Nicky and Joe, as they deal with the aftermath of Merrick’s. Exquisite smut and all the porn with feelings. Hurt/Comfort: Buried In Your Love, by @sholeh675. Here the smut is part of the healing process and it’s done brilliantly. I usually don’t care much about blow jobs in fics, but oh boy this one does it amazingly. Mission fic: The Golden Horn, by goldsaffron. Amazing historical research and Joe’s voice is so fucking good. The “mission” part per se is more Andy and Quỳnh’s doing, but the whole plot is freaking genius. Dark: Sustenance, by @quincette. This fic deals with cannibalism (not between JoeNicky) and uses the most clever metaphors and religious themes in a way that will make your soul sing. Fluff: Let Your Heart Beat Here, by @aw-hawkeye-no. A story about Nile as she struggles with being an omega in a world of alphas. Also, Nicky helps her to build a nest, which is the cutest thing in the world. Humor/Crack: Fifty Florins, by goldsaffron. Not exactly a funny story, but Yusuf’s voice here is simply hilarious, the historical background is genius and the trial scene in London has my whole heart. PWP: My End and My Beginning, by @shadowhannibad. I probably could pick almost any of this author's fics to fill this category, because she always writes unapologetic, scorching hot porn, but this one is soft and horny at the right amount for my tastes. Gen: Remember me for centuries, by @snipergirl21. A story about how the things we collect throughout our lives hold meaning. It’s the perfect mix of bittersweet and the family feels. Modern AU: The Old Guard Prison, by @queen-of-badomens. One of my favourite fics in this fandom. Amazing characterization, compelling plot, the character’s voices are spot on (even the OCs are amazing!) and it has brilliant action scenes. Fantasy AU: Recalescence, by @quincette. I have written in my comment for this story that I’d read a whole trilogy about this verse and I stand by it. An amazing fic with star-crossed lovers + magic + omegaverse. Omegaverse: Love At First Time, by yonge_sonne. It was so fucking hard to pick a story for this category (and I ended up putting some of my fave omegaverse fics in other categories, lol), but I chose this one because it’s simply so fucking hot. Comicsverse: faces that you meet [there will be time], by irrelevant. My favourite comicsverse fic. The author nails their comics voice so, so freaking well. I love the introspection and the smut is top tier. Missing Scene: There’s a TV, Joe!, by @ignisentis. Copley’s POV about the plane scene. It’s brilliant, Joe and Nicky’s voices are amazingly done, they are so snarky and so in love. Kenzarelli Multiverse: Il Lupo d'Italia, by @sholeh675. I don’t read much crossover, but I do love the domesticity here and how the author manages to make me care for these characters I know almost nothing about. WIP fic: Bits & Glimpses, by @quincette. This author has a lot of WIPs I’d love to read more about, but I chose this one because this verse is so compelling and all the little details she came up with are genius. And to think this is technically a glory hole fic... Fic you want a sequel for: red sand, by @silvyri. This fic could also be in dark and omegaverse categories, but I really, really dream about a sequel for this. I’d love to read about the healing journey for Yusuf and Nicolò after the traumatic event that bonded them forever (and no, I’m not talking about Jerusalem). Free space: The Secret History, by spqr. This fic is very hard to categorise, but I can say it’s a fucking fantastic character study and Joe’s voice is absolutely stunning here. I re-read at least once a month because it's that good.

Happy New Year! I’ve never read as much as I did in 2020 so yes, here’s another totally biased reclist catered to my very personal needs but hey, maybe I’ll find some taste twins around to celebrate with me🥂

Drarry:

1. 9 ½ Days by @magpiefngrl (Explicit, WIP)

Drarry on the run! I hopelessly crave good war fics and this has been an amazing ride so far. I love the tense, dangerous atmosphere and the organic slow burn feat. safe houses, domestic bliss and life-affirming fumbling in the dark.

2. A Pain of Our Choosing by @lqtraintracks (Explicit, 6k)

Peak LQT geniality under 10k, this is one of the best 8th year fics I’ve read recently, with soft broken boys healing together and hot fucked up smut as a bonus. Cathartic and nuanced with a lovely hopeful ending.

3. Between Myth and Men by @slytherco (Explicit, 16k)

A creative and contemplative fic that packs so much under 16k. Gorgeous redemption arc based on a brilliant Veritaserum concept with its implications and complications. Quietly devastating, soft, evocative, and it hurts so good. Get your tissues box ready!

4. Born Slippy by @dracoladon (Explicit, 8k)

The best clubbing fic ever. I have never read Drarry like this: their drunk voices are smooth, hilarious, quick-witted, and I wanna live inside the superior sexual tension. Excellent build up, even more excellent payoff with hot panty kink. Just thinking about it makes me salivate

5. Can’t Fight the Moonlight by sunsetmog (Mature, 16k)

Whenever you feel like reading Mpreg, this is THE fic. Absolutely heartbreaking but in a gentle way? I love these complex characters, the light-hearted dialogue and the way this story captures a disorienting but realistic mix of wonder and terror about parenthood (she says, without having ever experienced it 😂).

6. Clouds That Veil the Midnight Moon by @drarrytrash (Explicit, 36k)

The best case fic I’ve read this year, so fun and charming. I’m soft for the Drarry dynamics, the tentative slow burn, the easy banter, the gentle yearning. Kudos to a perfect Ron, great OCs and an intriguing plot. The atmosphere and characters are so addictive you’ll never want this fic to end.

7. Criminal by @the-sinking-ship (Explicit, 83k)

A rich and delightful ride with A+ character development and the sexiest slow burn, feat house hunting and drunk singing Take on Me. Get your heart ready to see a posh, snarky yet hopelessly smitten Draco transforming Harry’s lonely life into something colorful and full of hope. Gorgeous characterization and delicious smut as a bonus 👏🏻

8. Far From The Tree by aideomai (Explicit, 112k)

Showstopper fic. A power combo of unique plot and aideomai’s devastating writing, this fic is a triumph, and it aches so good. I’m still hungover over the gourmet world building, the fascinating love story and the sexiest teenage smut ever written - I’ll be forever thinking of this ride and all those stunning RoR scenes...

9. In the Dark by @bixgirl1 (Explicit, WIP)

There’s no fic like this one. I still remember my jaw dropping seeing the raw and depressing apocalyptic world Bix creates here - the tense and urgent atmosphere, the angsty comfort sex, the brilliant Hermione-Narcissa subplot! I’ve declared this fic one of my all-time faves since ch 1, I don’t care if it’s still in progress 🤷🏻‍♀️

10. Inside Your Mind by @lazywonderlvnd (Explicit, 36k)

A gorgeous and introspective 8th year love story following the post-war melancholy. This is not only an amazing character study on both Harry and Draco, it also explores nuanced D/s dynamics and shines light on Goyle’s character in a refreshing and heartfelt way.

11. Kinktober 2020 series by @bonesliketambourines (Explicit, 85k)

The ultimate gourmet selection of porn with feels, providing top notch wanking material fabulous character studies and nice twists on both popular and not-so-popular smut tropes. Hot, creative and satisfying new takes packing lots of backstory and emotion! All this written in one month, wtf 👏🏻

12. Life goes not backward by @shealwaysreads (Teen and Up, 9k)

Surprising no one I can’t worship my favorite comfort fic enough; this is the softest, gentlest take on the found family trope you’ll ever see, healing food for the heart and soul. Evocative writing and an unexpected yet wholesome ending full of warmth and hope.

13. Modern Love by @tackytigerfic (Explicit, 61k)

My favorite read this year, a master class in slow burn with Muggle Draco and a brilliant Harry POV full of heart and yearning, that will take your breath away. Come and feast on the softest pining and a wholesome get together (with religious smut, I kid you not!). A Tacky’s love letter to Drarry.

14. My Hands Are Of Your Colour by @ohdrarry (Explicit, 8k)

This fic was written for my (first ever) prompt for Sudsfest and it felt like the author gazed right into my soul. The dark atmosphere, the carefully crafted backstory, the cathartic and sensual comfort sex! This is a mature, elegant and evocative hitmen love story.

15. Nice Things by aideomai (Mature, 22k)

We’ve been blessed by aideomai in 2020. This poignant 8th year tale is one of my all-time favorite reads, quiet, bittersweet and so gently cathartic. Love to see everyone bonding and healing at the gatehouse, the soft domesticity and the aching and inevitable Drarry romance. A powerful story, a gorgeous love story.

16. Teeth by @amelior8or (Explicit, 6k)

I’ve reread this fic so many times and it never fails to take my breath away. So much emotion packed in just a few words! A delicious game of push and pull and scorching intense smut, with enthusiastic consent and gut-punching lines that go from rough to tender in a second and hit my heart real sweet.

17. The Courting by the Pureblood Who Only Has Five Milligrams of Romantic Intelligence and Thinks He’s Real Smooth by @cibeewastaken (Teen and Up, 19k)

This delightful courting story made my heart swell in a way I didn’t think was possible, with a precious devoted Draco gently pining over his oblivious “beloved”. The traditional ritual is so creative and full of heart I can’t even think about it without smiling. A perfect comfort fic, warm, hilarious and genuinely sweet.

18. The Thrill of the Chase Moves in Mysterious Ways by @veelawings (Explicit, 32k)

I am so utterly charmed by this incredibly fun, engaging and creative case fic - Noella did a fantastic job recreating Ms. Fisher’s 20s vibes and the Drarry dynamics are such a treat, sexy, snarky with delicious pining. Shout-out to the fabulous ass play in ch 2 as well 😳

19. (Un)wanted by @aibidil (Explicit, 36k)

One of the most interesting and heartbreaking portrayals of Harry’s generation post-war, an honest and melancholic story with a sensitive approach to Harry’s trauma. All characters are wonderfully complex and come together while exploring the Muggle world, which filled my heart with soft nostalgia.

20. Vortex by @xanthippe74 (Teen and Up, 20k)

My very favorite soulmate story, it gives Draco a wholesome redemption arc and a chance of finally being happy after finding his place in the post-war reality. The slow burn is organic, gentle and aching, with a super interesting subplot on social politics.

This fic is a triumph and simply the best Dron I’ve ever read, full of heart and character. Their voices and dynamics are unbelievably spot on and the slow burn is charming, witty, scorching hot and delightfully domestic! Brilliant fic. Do not read if you’re not ready to fall into this ship.

2. Beneath a Foreign Moon by @lqtraintracks (Harry/Teddy, Explicit, 2.7k)

A quiet and fascinating shortfic exploring the student/professor taboo alongside the age gap. I’m completely obsessed with this darker take on Harry, on how he unapologetically takes what Teddy so willingly gives. A brilliant study on power dynamics and delicious smut as per LQT’s usual brand.

3. Best Man by Farbautidottir (Harry/Scorpius, Explicit, 13k)

Such a charming fic, one of the most romantic takes I’ve seen on this pairing! I love the idea of Harry and Scorp falling in love while getting things ready for Albus’ big day. The slow burn is gentle and the wedding scene is so so great - it filled me with longing and nostalgia.

4. Black Forest by bigblackdog, @ruinsplume (Harry/Sirius/Remus, Explicit, 12k)

Once again they blow my mind with a luscious and devastating approach to this triad. Harry’s POV makes my heart ache - the sexual tension is exquisite and shows how far his childhood trauma goes, and how only Sirius and Remus can give him the comfort of feeling wanted and loved. Genius and breathtaking.

5. Hopelessly Devoted To You by @writcraft (Harry/George, Explicit, 10k)

I don’t usually see George in fic so this was the most wonderful treat! A gentle love story with them connecting over musicals, mourning Fred and finding each other along the way. I love how beautifully the dialogue flows and how comfortable they are with each other.

6. In My Mind, Body and Soul by tamlane (Lily Luna/Michael Corner, Explicit, 5k)

Despite loving age gap ships, I don’t think I’d ever read this ship if it wasn’t for the intriguing concept and fabulous writing. The characters dynamics are so gripping and the atmosphere is sensual, tense and unpredictable. Not even a kiss, yet this had me shaking in anticipation.

7. Pansy, Rows, and Mutual Wanking by @violetclarity (Pansy/Hermione, Explicit, 27k)

This was my first Pansmione fic ever, and it got me completely sold on this ship. A fantastic slow burn with brilliant character development and super hot smut. Hermione’s arc is one of the best I’ve ever seen, her self-discovery journey painfully earned and moving.

8. Rebel Rebel by @teacup-tai (Sirius/Remus, Explicit, 6k)

For someone who’s not particularly into this ship, Tai got me wrapped around her finger. Sirius’ POV is gorgeous and his journey back to Remus gave me major Little Compton Street feels (a major influence here). A magical and engaging read, full of joyful wonder for life.

9. testosterone (sounds like a spell) by pauraque (Hannah/Justin, Explicit, 8k)

I don’t think I’d ever read this ship if not by this author and I’m glad I did because this gave me goosebumps. Connecting with the characters was so easy - I fell in love with trans Justin, his journey and his lasting friendship with Hannah. Bonus points for the scorching hot yet delicate smut, honest and full of understanding.

10. Where Silence Has Come to Lick Its Wounds by @p1013 (Harry/Ron/Hermione, Explicit, 2.6k)

All hail the threesome queen @p1013. This fic blew up my mind and made me fall in love with this Triad. It has a gentle, intimate atmosphere and gives off the perfect “comfort sex” vibes, soft, safe and familiar. Absolutely stunning.

ToF is another huge Drarry classic. It goes without saying that it will grab you and not let you leave without finishing. The angst is brilliant, the canon rewrite magnificent. A must read.

Foundations !verse (Series) by Saras_girl (E, 364k)

Harry is about to discover that the steepest learning curve comes after Healer training, and that second chances can be found in unexpected places.

This series is composed by 2 main fics (Reparations (87k) and Foundations (236k)) and 11 adjacent oneshots. Healer Harry wasn't something that I knew I needed until I read this. I learned so much with this universe; about being human, about learning from one's patients, about working with people. Reparations is my fave Saras_girl fic.

The Secret Language of Plants (Series) by @llendrinall (373k)

“Just… tell me. Tell me what is going on, Snape.”

What was going on was that Severus Snape had no trouble tracking down one Petunia Evans, now Dursley, to a little town in Surrey where he saw how exactly she was treating her nephew. Which somehow led to last night and Severus knocking on Lupin’s door with a toddler half-asleep in his arms.

This amazing series is composed by 4 parts, and it starts with Snape and Remus stealing and raising Harry, while falling in love with each other. It's bloody amazing how Endrina retells the story with such a nice canon rewrite, and gives us Drarry with such a nice twist <3

Tales From the Special Branch (Series) by @femmequixotic (E, 1.214k)

When Gawain Robards asks him to form Special Branch seven-four-alpha, Harry Potter knows they'll have to work outside the confines of the law--even though they are the law.

This is one of the most intertwined and interesting Drarry plots I've ever read. The amount of world-building in this 5 amazing fics is insane, the backstories to all the characters are impressive, how everything connects in such perfect way is amazing, how the plot thickens is breathtaking and the sex- lol hotter than firewhiskey. A mix of Action-politics-scorching hot smut-Slytherins being aurors-Harry Potter being a hot mess. (warning: WIP. ;_;)

It's a utter delight to appreciate how Laura put it so well together, this is a literary recommendation for those with a strong stomach. Check the tags. (I've read it twice)

Neji has always been in control. There's just one problem. It's killing him - and only Shikamaru can tell. But sometimes being pulled back from the edge is just as dangerous as being pushed there.

If you like Naruto and deep psychological plots, you should read this masterpiece. BtB is one of the biggest loves of my life. It should be published in a big editing house! xD Ninjas gone deep and real and raw and in love! This is a monsterfuck rollercoaster wrapped up in 4 books (1.240k). Rayne does a really good job in delving her fingers in the characters and making them hers but never making them OOC. Now my favourite Monster Writer is back and giving us a bit more of deep angsty-post-war-vibes <3

Oh my gosh anon, what a wonderful question! I dunno if you have something specific in mind, but I’ll start with my current WIP obsessions (these are all Explicit! Pleaaase beware of that!!) (also I’ve noticed these are all AUs lmao so AU Bonanza I guess!):

Old Rules For New Side Pieces by Shamelessquestions: absolutely in love with this fic! The characterization of those two is on point and then some, the storytelling and storylines are incredibly attention-grabbing and immersive, and it’s also absolutely hilarious. Their Mickey is my favorite Mickey ever. For sure my favorite work in progress at the moment, but it’ll probably rank top 5 fics I’ve ever read once it’s done. A certified banger!

The Ghosts of You and Me by AllThatMatters: ZOMBAES!! This fic is absolutely beautiful. Gotta warn you, it’s angst a-plenty but if you like The Pain™️ then this is the one for you—and you’re gonna LOVE the hurt/comfort. The build-ups, the writing style, the characters’ portrayal are all [chef’s kiss]. Also a perfect mix of angsty fluff/fluffy angst.

Miles Between Us by statichearts: and finally, the Historical AU to end all Historical AUs. I don’t know how to describe how much I love this fic, but I’ll try: incredible characterizations (they write my favorite Ian of all time and their Mickey is>>>>), beautiful world building, amazing plotlines. It really takes you there, and beautifully so. The slowest and sweetest of burns too, so if you’re a pining kinda anon this one won’t disappoint.

Now onto some of my fave fics of all time (again, these are all Explicit and AUs. I see a pattern, do you?)

Restoration by pink_ink: BOY OH BOY. Probably top 3 fave AU ever. Both Ian and Mickey are amazingly written, the plot is catchy and intriguing, the angst and hurt/comfort and fluff and smut it’s all AAAHH. I can’t describe it! You gotta read it to really get it. Can’t recommend it enough.

Lost in Translation by Shamelessquestions: Yes, they’re my favorite author and I will keep linking their works so don’t @ me. It’s just......at the risk of sounding repetitive: best Mickey ever. This one’s a short and sweet but absolute gem of a fic, with the cutest plot ever and lots of love and fluff and sexy smeghsy times. I love it!

Teenagers Scare The Living Shit Out Of Me by Mellow_Yellow: this one has my fave prologue ever—random fact but the more you know. Now what do you get when you combine a murder mystery + a (virtual) page-turner writing style + greaaat characters’ development + angsty angst (I love angst if you couldn’t tell) = this absolute treasure of a fic. That MCR song will never be the same after reading this.

The Halfway House by MintSauce: I mean, a classic. Fluffy (as fluffy as canon-like earlier Gallavich can be but you know, you love to see it) feelings for Ian and Mickey growing up together in a children’s home. The thing I love the most about this is the universe the author was able to build after the original fic was over—so I’d absolutely recommend checking out the entire Halfway House collection ‘cause you will fall in love with their Ian and Mickey guaranteed.

Corey & Parker by Violet_Jones: now. Listen. This is a Porn Star AU (happy pride). The smut in this fic fundamentally changed me as a person *not clickbait*. It’s a 12/10, the whole thing—but if you like well written smut this is the ultimate came-in-for-the-smut-stayed-for-the-plot-and-the-smut fic.

Sexual Harassment in the Workplace by Shamelessquestions: yes this is a Shamelessquestions stan account and I will not apologize for it. Another amazing AU with beautiful characterizations, show-stopping plot-lines and delicious Miss Understandings. At this point anon just go to the author’s profile, close your eyes, pick a random fic and you’ll never be disappointed. You’re welcome.

If you are a fan of Blood and Ash, this is 1000% for you because this is book 1 of a new prequel series - it follows Nyktos (who was introduced in the Blood and Ash series) and Sera. This book tells their story, and it answers questions we had from the main series; however it leaves us with even more questions. And no, you do not need to read this book before Blood and Ash, it is its own story. It just intertwines beautifully with the main series.

This is like the beloved Greek tale of Hades and Persephone but Nyktos and Sera's tale felt authentic because it is enriched with its own vivid mythology. JLM is amazing. The queen does not miss. My whole mind, body, and soul belongs to every book written in this fantasy universe. I have always loved JLA’s characters because they are so complex, but for this book, its the actual plot and world-building that had me at the edge of my seat. The prophecy at the end, the foreshadowing of things I know because of the main series, it’s just so good.

The relationship between Sera and Nyktos was the perfect mix of snark, banter, and sexual tension. It’s a slow-burn romance, but the smut and sexual tension run high between them from the very start. But what I absolutely loved about their relationship was that it’s more than just sexual tension and banter, we can really see the emotional connection that they make, and how they recognize themselves in one another. It was beautifully written and developed, but what made it even better for me is all the hurt and angst that was added in the last hundred pages.

I give this book 5 brilliant stars. This book gave us many answers and left us with even more questions. Overall, this prequel series will prove itself to be an equal competitor to the Blood and Ash books. I cannot stress how glad I am that JLA decided to write his series because it made the entire story even more outstanding.

Heyyy as a huge fan of your blog and fic Rex a I noticed while you’ve got an insecure Harry one there isn’t an insecure Louis post (unless it’s called something else??!) and wondered if that would be something you’d be able to compile for me? (I’m sorry if this sounds weird I don’t speak English as a first language)

Your English is perfect, love! I don’t have an insecure Louis fic rec becauseI don’t have very many where he’s characterized that way. Some of these I think fit what you’re asking for, the others are more along the lines of him having insecurities, but it’s not necessarily a major plot point.

Fading by tothemoonmydear (M, 202K) Let me start by asking you to please tread carefully with this one. It’s a very well-written fic, but it deals very graphically with Louis’ character’s eating disorder. At the time it was written, some people felt it did not portray ED recovery accurately, so if the subject is at all triggering for you, please don’t read this one. If that’s not an issue for you, make sure you have tissues ready because I ugly cried through almost all of this. I read it years ago and loved it at the time, but it’s not one I could handle reading twice.

Some Things Take Root by navigator, quitter (E, 50) I pretty much love everything these authors have written. This one is sweet, charming, and sexy. And Louis’ ex is a dick. 

all my love was down on a frozen ground by navigator (E, 16K) This is an old favorite and I love everything this author wrote. It’s is one of those quiet, soft fics with a bit of angst and a lot of internal monologue and gentle conversations. There’s something so touching about it. 

Take Our Bodies Higher by littlelouishiccups (E, 21K) Louis finally find someone who shares his kinks. It happens to be phone sex operator Harry. So much dirty talk. So much desperation. So, so good. I’m stretching it a bit because Louis isn’t exactly insecure, but he’s kind of given up thinking his kinks will ever be accepted by a partner.

So much stays unknown till the time comes by becka (E, 5K) Another old one by another author I really like. A short time travel fic that is both sad and sexy. It’s got a bit of an open ending, but you still get the sense everything is going to work out. It’s just a touching little fic (read tags, there’s some internalized homophobia in this one).

ain't had none like you in a while by istajmaal (E, 12K) Ok, so first of all, read the tags. Don’t read this one if you have an issue with age difference in fics. If that’s not a squick for you, you get to read Harry and Louis traveling back in time to teach younger versions of themselves…a lot. This is one of my favorite authors when it comes to smut and this one has it in spades. There’s an 18K second part to it as well: once i figured it out (baby it was easy).

Temporary Tattoos, Hotel Hearts, Horizon Homes by Teumessian (E, 18K) This is just 18K of love for Louis Tomlinson. It soft and gentle and so worth a read.

One More Time Again by @rougeandtonic (E, 232K) Canon compliant fix-it fic. If you ever wanted to go back in time and have karma catch up to Simon and have the boys realize how much they’re worth right from the start….this is your fic. 

Here in The Afterglow by fondleeds (NR, 87K) This author just blows me away each time they share something. There’s such an incredible sense of being immersed in the world they create. This one is so moving and painful and, ultimately, joyous.

baby, i’m speeding, and red lights are run by benzos (E, 7K) this author has such a gritty, realistic way of writing. I really enjoyed all the little details that made you feel as though you could get inside and understand the characters. Plus, super hot smut.

The Woods are Lovely, Dark and Deep by @helloamhere (WIP, 4 part series so far, mixed ratings, 101K) Amazing world building, complex characters, beautiful writing. It’s still a WIP, but it’s so worth reading (and the author says they’re working on more so…fingers crossed)!

jump in the deep end by istajmaal (E, 5K) I just love their dynamic in this one and this author (as I’ve said above) writes some of my favorite smut.

however do you want me, however do you need me by moonshinelouis / @louislorde (E, 7K) I just love a bit of baby boyfriends and kink exploration. This one does it so well.

Good Enough to Eat by objectlesson (E, 7K) This author always does such a good job with depicting young, queer love and the way their characters experience the overwhelm of realizing they’re not straight, realizing the’ve met their Person, pining, and giving in. I love a lot of their fics, but I think this is my favorite of them. (it’s unfortunately been deleted, but if you message them @alienfuckeronmain, they’ll get you a copy).

I agree, this season has been disappointing - especially considering it’s the last one. but thankfully, our fandom is full of amazing writers that serve us goods regularly. I have so much to recommend, it’s a joke. so prepare for a long fic rec. In no particular order, let’s begin:

1. Chasin’ You - @burninghoneyatdusk

okay. you’re gonna see a bit of a theme with me in these fic recs because the authors I mention are some of my favourites in the world - sam being one of the TOP TIER ones. this fic is a modern au, written about clarke and bellamy as exes (a favourite trope of mine) that have went their separate ways. clarke has moved away and hasn’t kept tabs on bellamy but he's soared to the top as a country star, his hit single being about her and what they had. if there’s any fic from this list you need to start reading, it’s this one.

2. Voices in the Water - @burninghoneyatdusk

It’s the canon version we all wanted. set on earth, clarke’s aunt (nia) forces her into an arranged marriage with king bellamy to unite the clans. but under it all, nia has tasked her to kill him. obviously, as clarke falls in love with bellamy, it’s the one task wanheda probably can’t complete. I'm in love with the imagery and descriptions in this fic. there are honestly some lines that sam writes that I want to frame and put up in my house. absolute brilliance.

3. All Because of You - @burninghoneyatdusk

*sheepishly raises hand* - hi, it’s me again, fangirling over another one of sam’s fics. if you have followed me for a while, either here or on twitter, you’ll have seen me screaming about this fic. I've pulled over while driving to read an update that came through to my email. no lie. I don’t say this lightly but it is definitely in my top 3 favourite bellarke fics of all time. sam DELIVERS with this one. bellamy knocks up his sister’s best friend when they’re both young and they grow together in raising their daughter. this fic flashes between present and future in the most seamless way and we see how in love they were back then but too scared to admit it, combined with how in love they are now that they are mature and older - but yet can’t seem to take the leap. I can’t tell you enough how good this fic is. I'm in love and it’s one of those fics that I would happily have as a book on my bookshelf, the pages worn and falling out from the amount of times that I re-read it.

let me tell you, you guys will be well fed after reading this fic. It’s one of the most original idea’s and we get so much bellarke and the blake siblings in this one. bellamy is a treasure hunter and married to clarke, after leaving his thieving days behind him. that is until his past comes knocking and drags him back into that world again - and clarke along with him. absolute chefs kiss!

5. Cups and Sorcerers - @icantloseyou-too

again, such a unique plot with just the right amount of fluff. clarke is a witch who owns a coffee shop and she ends up meeting someone just as unique as her. I’m invested in this to an embarrassing degree and it always puts me in a good mood when this fic is updated. such a light and heart filling read and ciara does a fantastic job of world building in this fic.

6. Paint me in Trust - @pawprinterfanfic

I'm sure this fic needs no introduction. everyone and their mother has heard of it and if you haven’t read it yet, believe me, you’re missing out. a harry potter au that runs alongside the last few movies without being involved with the main characters. essie manages to make an already existing world so different, thrilling and gripping. it emotionally upends you and takes you along for the ride without any intention of letting you off. I'm just in love with it and rightly so!

7. When the Wolves Come Home - @pawprinterfanfic

I don’t know how people aren’t RAVING about this fic more because I certainly am. it’s massive for me to even say this because I love all of essie’s work but it’s my favourite fic that she’s written. I can’t describe the feeling I get when I read how she’s written bellarke in this. it’s a percy jackson au but you don’t need to have knowledge of that world to enjoy this. I actually started reading the books because of this fic. essie writes it so well and incorporates a lot of fantastic elements from greek mythology while also keeping me on the edge of my seat with bellarke’s journey. HERE FOR IT ALL THE WAY.

8. I’ll Find You in the Morning Sun - @cominguproses13x

I’ve never seen a fic talked about as much as this one. with 60 chapters, it’s bound to satisfy any hunger you have for bellarke. it’s set in a post apocalyptic world and it is beyond a shadow of a doubt, my favourite setting to read bellarke in. I've actually stopped reading this fic on chapter 5 because im currently writing my own post apocalyptic au as it was a trope on my bingo card and I don’t want any subconscious spill over, but I fully intend on reading the rest of the fic in one go once my fic is published and done. it deserves all the praise and hype.

9. For Blue Skies - @kombellarke

kayla’s fics make me actually weep. her writing style is just unbelievable and she sucks me into stories so fast. this one is no different. I live and breathe for bellarke as exes and this fic is one of my favourites. it’s a modern au with clarke as a mother and she cascades back into bellamy’s life without warning. perfect angst and anticipation. in love.

10. Love Like Fools - @talistheintrovert

the way I love talis with my whole heart. I'm always obsessed with her fics and the way this one was written was just magnificent. enemies to friends to lovers, roommates, angst, emotional comforting? SIGN ME UP. the perfect mix of all of those and I felt so good after reading this. always a fan.

11. It Had To Be You - @useyourtelescope

I had the honour of pre-reading some of this fic before it was published and I felt so privileged. a regency au with a prank war sprinkled in? perfection. hana honestly writes this so beautifully and I can’t recommend this enough. it’s so unique and we are all so incredibly lucky that there’s something in the bellarke fic world for everyone.

12. Veni, Vidi, Vinci - @carrieeve

Again, proof of the pudding that there’s something in fic for everyone. I’ve never read one like this before and it THRILLED me. murphy and bellamy working together to steal a Vinci? it was the fic I never knew I needed. the bellarke interaction in this was beautifully written and I am just completely obsessed. we really struck gold with the bellarke big bang works this year.

13. A Twist of Fate - @queenemori

let’s be honest, soulmate au’s are always wanted and needed in this fandom and kara does an excellent job of serving us this one. we got some team cockroach in here along with some top tier quality bellarke. what more could you ask for? if you haven’t read this fic yet, you need to. so thankful for kara being the absolute gifted babe that she is.

1. Everything is You (AngelxOC)

So, I’m a sucker for Korean dramas. They have the perfect mix of sweet, comedy, and angst (A LOT OF ANGST). Anyways, I based the main OC on the main character in the Korean Drama ‘You are my destiny’. She’s loosely based on the main character. I’m not even sure where this idea came from. I was watching the drama and I couldn’t exactly based the story on it, it didn’t feel right. So the idea came to me, what if Angel had a kid and due to his background, the orphanage where his ex dropped off their kid didn’t want to give the kid to him. Farfetched I know, but it fit the story. Anyways, he ends up marrying his childhood friend who adopted his son in order for him to keep his kid. It’s honestly been a roller coaster but it has been one of my favorite stories to write. 

2. Snapshots (AngelxReader)

I started in the Mayans fandom maybe a year and a half ago? I stopped writing for Angel cause another muse got me. But one of the first reader inserts I did with Angel was ‘Snapshots’. I’m a sucker for the best friend trope. I’ve seen a few where they promised one another that if they were still single at a certain age, they would get married. This idea just stuck to me and I started writing. I honestly just planned to write Traditions and Silent Treatment, but here we are now, almost 17 chapters in. It holds a special place in my heart cause it was my first reader insert. I wrote my first smut scene with this story as well.

3. Misconstrued (AngelxReader)

Misconstrued was a request that I definitely had so much fun writing. I’m all about creating worlds. I try my best to keep requests to just one-shots, but some times, the brain takes over and here I am, six parts in. I still have to write the last part, which is the epilogue. I honestly think I veered off the request the anon had, but I hope I was still able to deliver what they wanted. This was supposed to be about a date, which it was, but then I ended up adding other plot lines in it and honestly, the response I got for the story was so heartwarming and fun. I loved interacting with everyone and how they strongly they felt for one of the characters. 

4.  Two Weeks (MiguelxReader)

This was my first time writing for Miguel and I was absolutely excited. I was watching Two Weeks Notice, one of my favorite movies, and I thought about how it would be interesting if Miguel had this assistant who he obviously depended on, someone he trusted so much. A korean drama called ‘What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim,’ also inspired me for this. Miguel is fun to write for cause just that boss aura about him aways had me intrigued. I’m trying to write part 3 and I just can’t wait to see where I can bring this story. 

5. Roommates (AngelxReader)

@blackmissfrizzle have been talking about this idea for ages. I think when we first started talking during the end of the summer, I brought up the idea that wouldn’t it be interesting if Angel was your roommate and honestly, the idea just grew from there. I didn’t write it till later, but I’m so glad I did. This went from a roommates story to just a whole another world. When she left him hanging, trying to get even, this story is such a joy to write. Again, I love building worlds and this has to be one of my favorites.

I fell in love with this story immediately. The dynamic Bucky and the reader have is wonderful. She doesn’t take any nonsense, and boy is he just smitten. The way the story represents Bucky is awesome, he is cocky and full of himself, but you see the west side, the insecurities and his heart. Its not one of those fics with a whole lot of angst, its just a genuinely good read. It makes you happy, and the DRABBLES oh god the drabbles that come along with it were so cute. Also, Salina has another spectacular Mobster Bucky story called **Disbarred https://sgtjbuccky.tumblr.com/post/180246739540/disbarred which a very, very good fic as well. Makes me want to get a mobster of my own lol.

Black Serpent Universe by @invisibleanonymousmonsters

LOVE love this series. This is the first mobster AU I think I ever read, and it is literally flawless. The universe is basically on every long oneshot and accompanying drabbles/HCs. The one shot is everything I could’ve asked for in a fic, its long, well thought out, detailed, exciting, heartbreaking, fluffy, and so so realistic. I know what you’re thinking, a mobster story realistic? Okay, so maybe not the mob aspect, but the real reactions and the slow burn, its true to life, they don’t just jump into things, they live through the build up. The emotions are practical and real and I feel like they were people and not characters. Its just, really freaking good.

This one is really unique, and it talks about sex slave so you know that's a trigger warning. anyways it's just really well done. And like I said I've never really read anything like it and I think that's what makes it great. And when you go into reading it you really think that it's going to be dark and hard to read because it's such heavy material, but the way it's written is really good because it gives that white and makes it worth it to read. It really makes you feel a lot of emotions that I couldn't honestly pinpoint because I was angry at the situation but I loved the characters, so all in all it was just a genuinely good read, and it was really really well done. You want some angst with a side of pain? Well heres the fic for you. This one HURT. There is not a happy ending, not even close. But with all of that being said, it was beautiful. As you read, you realize whats happening and you just hurt for them, they deserve better and you want them to have better, but thats not their fate. They are a pair of lovers unfortunately a part of a tragic story, but oh sort they make the most of what time that had. I cried, a lot, but I also loved the characters. They loved each other, so much, and you could feel it in your bones. Fantastic story. 

Tangier & Redux by @softlybarnes

Theres something about this one that I love, something so unique about the reader. She’s… mysterious, ethereal, and kinda sinister but most importantly damn powerful. The way she speaks, and talks, it reminds me of a witch. Its something that you don’t see a lot in stories like these, the reader being anything but ‘innocent’. She doesn’t take any less than she knows she deserves, and he fiercely wants whats best for her. Sometimes they don’t think those are the same thing. But the chemistry they have, its so nice to read. And the scene setting in this, its perfect, you can picture exactly what it would look like. And the personification of Bucky as well, he’s no wannabe mobster, he’s ruthless, and they fit together so well.

This one is really good, it's Rough and violent but like that's the whole point he's a mobster he's ruthless Yet it's perfectly balanced with the fluff that's in there because at first you don't really see it but as time goes on you see all of the small nuances to how much he really likes her and how soft he is actually on the inside and it's one of those stories that you can tell was just written naturally like there wasn't a lot of structured to it and I think that's some of the best stories because it's like real life you know it just happens and you go with the flow and there's nothing jarring that pulls you out of reading. The smut scenes are also perfectly balanced between being sexy yet sensual and sweet. Really awesome fic.

Truth Set Free by @propertyofpoeandbucky

It was so hard picking one of Leilanis story to focus on, because they’ve done some absolutely spectacular ones such as “Missin’ My Girl”, “Soft To The Core”, “Burst Of Anger”, “Maybe This Time”, “How Unlikely”, and of course a fan favorite “Good Business”. However, I decided to focus on the first one I read of theirs. Its such a cool piece, the way its set up is super good I the way that its picking up sort of like in the middle of the story but you’re not lost, you gather details as you go that forms the whole picture in your head. I love the whole secretive thing it has in it, it makes it kinda mysterious to read. Then you get to the second part, and besides the drama, its sweet, he knew they were gonna be together from the beginning. And this sweetness isnt even like explicitly said, you can just see the nuances from his actions. Really good fic, and so are all of the others.

My favorite part of the mobster Trope is the whole big bad mob boss who would do anything for those he loves. And this is a perfect example of that, because he's so hard and tough and a bad guy, but when he's with her he's soft and he just melts. the violence in this is the perfect mix of descriptive without being gory, it's realistic yet not exaggerated or too much to handle. it represents the truth well because it's not  ignoring the truth to mobsters. The way they use the other characters and it is why I was awesome because you get to see the comparison between who they are in the Fic and who they are in the movies. The sexy scenes are nice too lol, and knife kink alert lol, That must be said. 

World On Fire by @beckzorz

Alright so this one is super awesome, it's not done yet but what is done of it is too amazing to not include. it's like the perfect combination of two AUs: its mob boss Bucky, and 40s Bucky all in one. What else could you want honestly?The story keeps you on your toes, you know he's secretive she's in love with him oh, you don't really know what's happening next until it happens and then you think we'll of course that's the perfect way to take the story. the way she writes to is just so amazing, it feels like you're back in time and the way she uses those sensory details is just spectacular. In the reader has secrets to so it's like as your reading your findings these things out And it's just really interesting there is no boring aspect to it.

Okay so this is the first like long mobster fix that I read and it was a really good introduction to that universe. The way every aspect of this story comes together is just really amazing the plot, the dynamic between the characters, the details, the emotion it makes you feel, it's just the perfect combination of pain and fluff in it just is a really good read. it was a roller coaster of emotions, but it was worth it there wasn't just any angst to have angst it was all plot driven and necessary. Also the way it circles back to the beginning at the end is just an example of really good writing it was believable and true to mobster universe is but it also really reference to the Cinematic Universe really well because it brought in those little details and twists from the movie. And I really really love the flower aspect of it, I just really like flowers, and the fact that he loved her so much from the beginning and you could just see that throughout the whole story was just beautiful.

Okay so there's probably nothing in the world I love more than tough guy and the waitress trope.  and this is just a really good rendition of that, it was one of those stories that like was so good that you read it all in one go and then you get to the end and you're kind of like well damn now it's over and I don't really know what to do. He loved her so much and it was one of those stories that made you feel really powerful to be a woman because it wasn't ever demeaning and it was really empowering to see her go from being a waitress to the queen of New York like that, I really like how it represented how if you have a healthy relationship then you'll both grow to be better people (besides the whole mob aspect lol) 

A Business Deal by @em-imagines

So this one was super interesting, I really loved seeing as the story went on how they were falling for each other. And honestly just like the beginning of the story that plot twist was absolutely amazing, I really like how it showed how powerful the reader can be. Because a lot of the times and fix complex where he has all the power over her, but I really like seeing them on that sort of equal plane. The dynamic between the two was also really awesome because there wasn't ever any Real damsel-in-distress moment oh, they were both really independent and capable people who came together to form that's really nice relationship. It was just a really good story to read, and there are many like it out there.

You know as I've been saying I really like the stories where the reader isn't just completely helpless, and this is another really good example because you know like it says the reader is truly a bad ass. When you think the world that she's in the middle of and how she reacts to it it's really empowering, and the way her and Bucky interact is really nice to see. And it's really interesting to read because you can literally feel the tension between them and when is it going to happen when is it going to happen oh, and I really hope there's another part to it lol. Its really well done, and a nice funread.

So this one I'm going to be honest and say I didn't know if I was going to like it because I'm not a huge fan of really helpless readers but the way this was done is just really sweet. because she's not just completely helpless like she's not incapable, she just needs help because this isn't the world she's used to being in. and you know the relationship moves fast but you never get the feeling of like that went so fast, you just really feel the love in their relationship. And you see her grow into the position she got put into as his girlfriend, because you feel her gain her confidence and she becomes a real badass in the end and I love how much he loves her it was a really sweet story.

It has meme worthy illustrations xD. The graphics are nice but I found Taekyung (one of the MCs) to be a little toxic. Also, some parts of the story were not wrapped up/discussed enough imo. But overall, it was a pleasant read.

Its art and story (much like Harada’s other works) will really suck you in. This left a deep impression on me because the characters felt so alive. I respect Harada so much for that ability.

I remember dropping this because MC was obviously raped, but upon watching the first episode of the anime adaptation, they made the sex consensual (thank God) and the story is not so bad after all. I suggest skipping the first chapter altogether and just start off at episode 1 in the anime, then you can pick it up in the manga to see the explicit scenes xD
