Sweet Surprises
•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•
He’d wanted to hate her. Truly he did. He’d wanted to hate everything from the way she walked to the curve of her smile; the way she talked to people, the kindness in her eyes, the laugh that made his heart flutter; he’d wanted especially to hate the green robes she dawned as she flew about the pitch, but they suited her too well.
So he didn’t hate her. Not even in the slightest. Not even when she looked him straight in the eyes after every goal she launched past him, smiling that smile that had him weak in the knees, resisting the urge to apologise for ever being in her way.
There were probably dozens of reasons why the rivalry between Gryffindor and Slytherin was so strong, but Quidditch must have accounted for a good chunk of it. It was no secret that Slytherin’s team often played dirty, but other than the odd sneaky trick, Oliver knew he didn’t have to worry about that with (Y/N). And the argument she put up with her Captain over foul play was impressive; the power and authority in her voice never ceased to amaze him - if the system wasn’t rigged in favour of the rich and pure, he had no doubt that she would be their Captain, and Merlin would she do it well.
People thought they were so opposite, and on the outside it did seem like it. But their differences put aside, they were so similar, so alike, that something like an age old house rivalry seemed so unimportant the second they became friends.
Were they friends? Neither of them had ever said it but he liked to think so. When they first met, Oliver had thought it impossible. But when she’d come over after their first match in third year, her first time playing against Gryffindor, she proved otherwise. He remembers expecting her to be a sore loser, like many were, to say something insulting and standoffish. She surprised him. Congratulating his win, asking about his skill, making conversation. She continues to surprise him.
Now they were getting close to the end of their last year at Hogwarts, homework and studying took over most of their time, and Quidditch took the rest. But they found time for each other. He would help her with Transfiguration, she would help with his Herbology work, study sessions that lasted hours because they couldn’t focus on the work before them, and not to mention how she was the only reason he was passing his potions practicals.
“Are you listening?”
Blinking, Oliver turned his head to her. Her. Sat beside him in the muggle clothes her father sent, Astronomy book sat on her jean-clad lap, thigh just barely brushing his, and the bright red and white shoes she said were ‘knock-off converse’ (whatever that meant); he liked that she wasn’t unwilling to wear red, maybe she liked the rebellion and the look her peers gave her, he liked to think it was because it was his colour.
Clearing his throat, Oliver shifted his weight on the grass. “Sorry,” he began, trying not to think too hard on how beautiful she looked in the noon sunlight, “lost in thought.”
(Y/N) smiled at him, and he was glad to already be sitting down. “What about?”
Of course, he wasn’t just going to say ‘I was just thinking about how we met and how lovely you are and how you look sitting here with me in the sun looking like a literal angel and you’re my favourite person and I’m completely in love with you’. That might have saved far too much trouble. So instead he rubbed his neck and said the next thing that had been on his mind. “I don’t want this to end.” The furrow of her brow had his heart leap into his throat. Rewind. Backup. “I-I mean -er… things’re just good now, y’know? But we’re graduating soon and then what? I’ve been scouted by Puddlemere United, you got a letter about trying for Montrose Magpies which I know are your favourite and you’re gonna do amazing. Everything’s gonna change and I don’t know if I’m ready for it.” It was a topic that had been weighing on him for months, if not all year.
Uncrossing her legs, (Y/N) closed her book and turned on her side, propping herself up with one arm and sitting up to face him properly. “You’re right.” She said, and Oliver wanted to point out how those words had literally never passed her lips before, until she sent him a look as if she could read his mind. “Things are gonna change, but they’re gonna change for the better.”
“How do you know?” He asked, looking into her eyes like he was studying every shade and colour in her irises.
The corner of her lips quirked upward, trying not to smile at the remarkable comparison of his expression to that of a sad puppy. “I just do. When am I ever wrong?” He raised a brow and she immediately shook her head at him and waved a hand. “Y’know what, no, don’t answer that.” She laughed and rolled her eyes at the snicker she drew from him. Placing her hand on his, she gave him the most reassuring look she had. “But I know I’m right about this. Things are gonna change but they’re gonna get so good, Ol.”
In a moment of boldness, Oliver turned his palm up to hold her hand in his, savouring how they fit perfectly together, the softness of her fingers wrapped around his. “But what if…” he hesitated, rubbing his thumb on her hand to calm his nerves, the mere thought of what he wanted to say setting heavy on his heart, “what if we don’t see each other… what if we grow apart?”
But, as mentioned before, she never ceased to surprise him. Instead of the comforting words he’d expected, he felt a soft whack on the back of his head. “What’re you doing putting thoughts like that out into the universe? Are you mad?” She said, scolding him in that playfully serious tone she used to torment the younger teammates. Changing her position, (Y/N) faced him fully and took both of his hands in hers, squeezing them tight to make sure he was paying attention. “You and I, we’re our own team, okay? If anything we’re gonna grow closer. We’ll see each other all the time, we’ll make sure. Who else is gonna put up with me?”
Not that he ever had to simply ‘put up’ with her. Godric, he’d listen to every rant and every digression if it meant he could spend all his time with her. “And if we get too busy? You in Montrose and me in Pudlemere, we wouldn’t exactly run into each other.”
(Y/N) sat back on her knees, thinking for a minute, and he felt like he was waiting for the blade to drop. Then she smiled again, and her eyes lit up like she’d won the Quidditch Cup. “Then we move in together.”
She said it so matter-of-factly, like it were just a simple solution and not a sentence that made his entire head swim. Surely she didn’t just say that. Surely he’d just misheard. “What?”
“Well think about it.” She said, grinning in excitement. “With two incomes we can get a nice apartment and not have to worry too much about spending, we can Floo to work, we’ll see each other everyday - not to mention I’d feel better if I wasn’t living alone. It’s perfect!”
That’s it - he was sure he was going to pass out. “I- y- r-really?” Oliver stuttered out, feeling his face starting to flush and trying to fight it. She waited for him to get his head around it, sat as close to him as she could in this position, still holding his hands tight in hers, smiling that smile that took his breath away. What other answer was there? “Okay.”
As soon as the word passed his lips, (Y/N) threw herself at him, wrapping her arms around his neck in an excited embrace. She was ranting on in elation, spewing words over his shoulder on the new topic, but Oliver was no longer listening, feeling like time moved slower; closing his eyes, he held her right to him and savoured her warmth, the feeling of her body wrapped around his, his arms around her waist. Whatever she was saying, it didn’t matter - she could be talking about painting the whole apartment bright pink and turquoise and he’d be okay with it - as long as she was there, hugging him like this. His mind started to calculate ways to get her to hug him like this all the time: bringing home flowers to surprise her, baking a cake when she gets her job, buying her the perfect gift for her birthday - as long as she hugged him like this. Maybe eventually it might become a habit. An embrace that conveyed every comfort; and then he knew she was right - with her, everything would be fine.

The Tryouts
Pairing: Oliver Wood x reader
Request: @cokecola4211 Harry Potter imagine Oliver flirts with Harry sister at the Gryffindor warm up tryouts. / Harry Potter imagine the reader is Harry sister and Oliver tries asking the reader out to.
a/n: sorry for taking so long!
Warnings: none.
Word count: 1,6k
Tumblr media
You were excited.
It was the quidditch tryouts and the Gryffindor team was looking for a new chaser to replace Katie Bell. Your younger brother was already on the team and that made you even more excited. It would be fun to play alongside him, representing your house and also your family. You liked to think your dad would be proud of both of his kids. So, needless to say, this was important to you.
You woke up extra early to have breakfast and meet with Harry, who was already in the Great Hall with the rest of the team and a few other students who were maybe just early birds. Or maybe they were there for the tryouts too. You hoped it was the former.
“Nervous?” he asked as you sat down beside him.
“Good morning to you too,” you said. “And no, I am not.”
“So your sister will be trying?” Fred Weasley asked from across the table. “I reckon it will be a tight dispute.”
“Why? Is there no room for another set of siblings?” you inquired back.
“I’m just saying there will be a lot of people trying this year.”
“Again, why?”
“Well, we always have more than a few contestants,” George Weasley explained. “But this is Oliver’s last season. He’s been encouraging nearly everyone to try their chance. He wants to win the cup.”
You looked over at Oliver Wood, the team’s captain, who was sitting a few seats away from you, drinking from his glass of juice, seemingly clueless to the conversation.
“Oh,” you said, “Then he should let me in. I’ve been training all summer.”
“Some people have been training all their lives,” Angelina Johnson fired back.
“I didn’t have that opportunity,” you answered, leaving her uncomfortable. Harry smirked.
“Sorry”, she said.
“Well, I’m rooting for ya,” Fred said as he and George stood up, “It’d be cool to have another Potter on the team.”
“Thanks,” you smiled at him.
“Don’t get too excited,” Harry warned as the twins left, “There will be a lot of people.”
“That’s a lot of faith you have in me, brother.”
“C’mon, team,” Oliver Wood suddenly said as he stood up, “I would like to practice a bit before the other students get there.”
Harry, Alicia Spinnet and Angelina Johnson prepared to follow him.
“Can I come?” you asked Harry, who shrugged.
“Ask Oliver.”
For God’s sake, you thought.
“Hum, Oliver?” you called and the boy, who was already leaving, turned around. He looked at you as if he didn’t expect to see you there.
“Yes?”
“Can I come? I know the tryouts are at 8 and it’s still 7, but I would like to watch you guys practice.”
“You’re up this early for the tryouts?” he asked. You looked at Harry, who shrugged again.
“Yeah,” you nodded.
“Hm, I like your readiness,” he said, “Let’s go.”
You smiled, thinking that maybe you had gained a few points already. You grabbed whatever you could to eat on the pitch and followed the others.
It wasn’t too hot outside, and soon you made your way to the stands. The team gathered in the center of the pitch, brooms in hand, and you could see that Oliver was talking to them, probably telling them what they were going to be doing today. You took a bite of your ham sandwich and sat back to watch as they flew away.
Harry was going to practice by himself, as usual, while Alicia and Angelina practiced shooting the Quaffle at Oliver, who was at the goalposts. Fred and George practiced with each other.
Normally, you would watch your brother, but something was drawing your attention towards Oliver Wood. He was the captain. He was the one you needed to impress. And that was his last year at Hogwarts, which meant you really needed to impress him. That finally made you nervous, something you weren’t before.
Angelina managed to grab the Quaffle from Alicia and flew towards Oliver, who had his eyes fixed upon the ball. You felt your heart start to beat faster with excitement to see him defend. Angelina threw the Quaffle at the first goalpost, and Oliver raced to his right, stretching his arm out and touching the ball with his fingertips, just enough to get it out of its way to the goal. You smiled. And suddenly Oliver had his eyes on you. He had a proud look on his face and seemed satisfied to know that you had seen that.
Then, your eyes were back on your brother, your cheeks slightly warmer. You spent the rest of the practice paying attention to him, while he chased the Snitch again and again, catching it every time. You wished your dad could see him now.
Oliver called the team back to the center of the pitch, and everyone got down from their brooms. They talked a little bit and then Harry waved at you, telling you to go there. You pointed at yourself as if to say ‘me?’ and he motioned ‘come here’ again. You stood up and got down from the stand, entering the pitch and walking towards them.
“Practice with us,” Harry said as soon as you approached them.
“Right now?” you asked, surprised.
“Yes. Right now. Go get a broom.”
“Give me a lift,” you asked and he rolled his eyes, but got on his broom anyway. You got on the back and you both flew to the locker room, where you picked a broom to use.
“But hey, why am I practicing with you guys before the others?” you asked, curious.
“I don’t know,” Harry shrugged for the third time that morning, “It was Oliver’s idea.”
“Hm,” you thought. Oliver’s idea. Maybe he wanted to see if the other Potter was just as good? Either way, you couldn’t not think that you were getting a little advantage over the others.
Once you were back on the pitch, Oliver approached you.
“I want you to work against Alicia and Angelina, okay? You’re on the opposite team. They’ll try to take the Quaffle from you and you won’t let them. Then, you’ll shoot at me. Understood?”
“Understood,” you replied, slightly nervous.
He handed you the Quaffle and everyone got on their brooms, flying high in the air. You followed. When everyone was on their positions, Oliver whistled. It had started. On your left, Alicia came flying fast, Angelina was on your right. You quickly flew down below them, making them almost collide on each other. Before they could recover, you were already flying fast towards the second goalpost, where Oliver was.
You flew as close as you could, and then threw the ball at the first goalpost, but Oliver was just as fast as you, and caught the Quaffle before it could go through.
“Damn it!” you shouted. Oliver smiled, spinning the ball in his hand.
“So close,” he said, “But not close enough,” then he winked at you.
“Let’s do it again,” you challenged, feeling flustered with that wink.
“Sure thing.”
Oliver gave Alicia the ball and told her she would be in your place now, with you and Angelina working together.
He whistled and it started. Alicia went to your left as fast as she could, and you followed, but suddenly she moved to the right, faster than you could tail her. You spun in the air trying to catch her, but she was gone. Angelina was right behind her, though, so you flew towards Oliver, already predicting Angelina’s next move. The chase was spectacular, with both girls going up and down. But much to Alicia’s dislike, Angelina was faster, and soon grabbed the ball from her hands. You were in the right position, close to the first goalpost, with Oliver flying in front of the middle one, but still closer to you. Angelina, then, threw the Quaffle over to you, and you caught it just fine, flying straight to the first goal. As soon as Oliver moved to his right, you shot the ball with your whole strength to the third goalpost, past him, who wasn’t quick enough to try and catch it. You scored a goal.
“Yes!” you shouted, quite happy with yourself.
“Well done,” Oliver said in an admiring tone, “Not bad at all. Let’s do it again!”
This time, Angelina was alone against you and Alicia. Through teamwork, Alicia almost scored a goal, but Oliver was able to catch it. He then called everyone to the center of the pitch once again.
“We’ll do the tryouts as a formality, but I think we have our new chaser right here,” Oliver announced.
You looked over at Harry, who was smiling. The rest of team cheered and congratulated you.
“Are you serious?” you asked in disbelief.
“Of course I am,” he said, “I know talent when I see it. And you definitely have it, Ms. Potter.”
You smiled at him and thanked everyone.
“We can take five to rest!” Oliver said to the team, and most of them left the pitch, except for you and him.
“What happens when we do the tryouts and you realize there’s someone better than me?” you asked sincerely.
“I don’t think that’s gonna happen,” he replied with the same sincerity.
“How can you be so sure? I mean, this was my first practice.”
“And you scored a goal against people who have been playing competitively for years. Look, Y/N, I see talent in you. And even more, I see potential. I can see a good future for you in this team. With more practice and training, who knows what you’ll be able to achieve? I have faith in you.”
“Wow,” you smiled, “Thank you.”
“But I can definitely tell you more about it over a cup of tea.”
“W-What?” you blushed.
“A cup of tea. Me and you. What do you think?” he asked, hopeful.
“I… Sure. Yeah, a cup of tea,” you smiled.
“It’s a date.”

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU. oliver wood
( master list )
IN WHICH… Nothing would make Oliver Wood happier than getting a new broom as his Christmas present. That, or Y/N Malfoy finally noticing him. When the two collide at Hogsmeade, Oliver is overjoyed. Perhaps this Christmas, he’ll get two gifts.
“I just want you for my own, more than you could ever know. Make my wish come true. All I want for Christmas is you.”
Tumblr media
“Ah, he’s staring again.” Fred Weasley nudged his twin brother George and pointed over at Oliver. “Do you think he’ll ever actually talk to her?”
“I’ve seen them talk once.” George uttered, his mouth full and his cheeks puffed out. “It was in their second year.”
Fred lightly snorted and waved a hand in front of Oliver’s face. “Wood, you there? You’re drooling this time while staring at her.”
Oliver was snapped out of his trance by the twins’ loud laughter. He frowned. “Knock it off.” He told the pair, taking a sip from his goblet.
“Oh, come on mate, you gotta talk to L/N otherwise she won’t even know you exist.” Fred sighed and quickly added, “And quidditch talk doesn’t count.”
Oliver huffed and rolled his eyes. Talking to Y/N was an almost impossible feat, not just to him. She was Draco Malfoy’s older sister and was basically untouchable. She was Slytherin’s prized queen and the chances of Oliver even being able to talk to her with her posse around was close to zero.
“I’ll talk to her eventually.” He uttered the same excuse he had been using since fourth year. His crush had lasted way too long but he was still determined to win Y/N over.
She wasn’t like the other Slytherins with their mean glares and tendencies to outcast people who weren’t pureblood. She was… nice. Her friends, however, weren’t.
“You’ve fancied her since third year, Oli.” Fred uttered, “Probably before that as well! Just make a move already!”
Oliver’s crush hadn’t begun during first year. It had started before that when he was rushing around Diagon Alley trying to find all his school supplies.
Oliver panted as he attempted to catch his breath. All afternoon he had been rushing from shop to shop to find all the books he needed for his first year at Hogwarts.
He held a pile of novels in his arms and momentarily stopped to marvel at the window of a broom shop. His awe was short lived as someone crashed into his back, sending his supplies everywhere.
“Ah! I’m sorry! I just wanted to look at the new broom!” A H/C-haired girl hurried to pick Oliver’s things up. She shoved everything into his arms, apologizing again.
“You… like Quidditch?” Oliver asked, tilting his head to the side.
“Huh? Of course. Who doesn’t? My father took me to see a game once and it was amazing. Some day, I want to join Hogwarts’ team.”
It was as if Oliver had met his dream girl.
“You’re going to Hogwarts too?!” Oliver exclaimed, his eyes sparkling.
“Yeah! I assume you’re also going, so maybe I’ll see you around.” She outstretched her arm to shake Oliver’s hand, but a black cane pushed her back.
“Don’t socialise with the trash, Y/N.” A man with long blond hair uttered, scowling. Oliver instantly recognized the man as Lucius Malfoy.
“I’ll see you around, Quidditch boy!” Y/N shouted as her father led her away.
That day, Oliver was reminded of where he stood in the scheme of things. He was a lowly half-blood while Y/N came from one of the most esteemed families.
Ever since that day, Oliver had been a little frightened to talk to Y/N, just in case she also referred to him as trash.
Y/N never did end up joining Slytherin’s Quidditch team. Her brother did instead. Oliver guessed it has something to do with her refusal to cheat, and Slytherin was infamously known for cheating.
“Say, are you going to Hogsmeade today, Oli? Perhaps to do a little last minute Christmas shopping?” George questioned, his lips curling into a smirk that could only mean one thing. Trouble.
“If you want to play one of your stupid pranks on me, forget it.” He stood up and silently walked away.
“Ah. He’s in a bad mood because of Y/N again. Jeez.” George rolled his eyes as he stabbed his fork into a carrot.
Oliver was going to visit Hogsmeade, but only to look at Quidditch shops and browse through the technique books. A Hufflepuff girl had asked him out, but he politely refused her offer.
Oliver shoved his hands deep into his warm pockets as he trudged through the thick snow. Hogsmeade wasn’t as busy as it usually was, but that was probably because most sane people wanted to avoid the cold.
The Quidditch captain made an immediate beeline for the broom store. He smiled as he gazed at the window display before entering.
“Good morning!” He kindly greeted the owner, who was an old lady hard of hearing. He immediately walked towards a shelve of books, running his finger over the hard covered spines.
The door opened again, the rusty bell attached to it quietly chiming. “Good morning, Gen!” A feminine voice shouted, piercing the calming atmosphere. Oliver peeked through the books, curious as to who the newcomer was. He could see their winter outfit but not their face.
The girl skipped over to the books, standing on the opposite side of Oliver. She locked eyes with him, and he could see her eyes squint as he smiled, meaning it was a genuine one.
The pair occasionally glanced at each other, jumping when they accidentally made eye contact. The girl tucked a strand of H/C hair behind her hair, quietly humming under her breath. She walked around to the other side of the bookshelf, almost crashing into Oliver.
His heart leaped in his chest as he grabbed Y/N and steadied her. “Sorry.” He said, not being able to muster up any more words.
Y/N silently stared at his face before she gasped. “Oh! Quidditch boy!” She exclaimed, grinning. “I knew I recognized those eyes!” When Oliver sent her a confused look, she laughed. “I’m the girl from Diagon Alley! Before first year, remember?”
“I remember… I’m just wondering why you do.”
“I spent most of my first year looking for you! But I never got your name so it was a bit hard. Then when you joined the Quidditch team and played your first match, I recognized you. I wanted to talk to you after but you seemed to have so many fangirls. I got shy!It’s been ages, jeez. How are you?”
Y/N grinned, an action that set butterflies free in Oliver’s stomach. His cheeks flushed red as he nervously smiled back.
“I’ve… been good. How about you? You never joined the Quidditch team.”
“Well, I don’t exactly like Flint and Draco is already on the team. They don’t need two Malfoy’s.” Y/N sheepishly smiled and laughed.
“I saw you play as a chaser during flying class. You were great. You should join the team some time.” That compliment coming from Oliver Wood, Gryffindor’s very own keeper, was a huge deal. “You’d be a wonderful addition. If only you were in Gryffindor.”
Y/N quietly laughed. “Maybe we’d actually be able to spend time together.” Her gaze flickered to the book Oliver was grasping, “Are you going to buy that? I’ve been looking for a copy of it.” She smiled, and Oliver didn’t have the strength to keep the book to himself when she was looking at him like that.
“No.” He uttered, “I was only looking at it. Here.” He handed it to Y/N.
“Are you sure?” She asked, to which Oliver nodded. “Thanks. I’ll let you borrow it. See you at school, Oliver.” She grinned again, skipping off to purchase the book.
Oliver stared at the ground, chuckling to himself as his cheeks turned rosy red.
School was finally coming to an end. Thank goodness. Oliver didn’t know how much more studying he could take before his brain gave up.
He returned to his dorm, tired and relieved to finally be returning home today. From his dorm, he heard his friends gasp.
“Ay, mate, there’s something on your bed for you.” One uttered as Oliver ended.
He tilted his head to the side and glanced at his mattress. A badly wrapped present sat on it along with a small card and the book he had let Y/N take.
Oliver grabbed the card, curiously staring at the cursive writing.
Consider this an early Christmas gift and my overdue apology on my father’s behalf (for calling you trash). You’re fun to talk to and I hope to see you around next year.
Merry Christmas, Oliver.
- Y/N
Oliver peeled the wrapping paper, almost choking when he saw the newest edition broom. It was shined and groomed to perfection and Oliver was sure he was going to pass out from excitement.
He slowly grasped the book, opening to the first page that was tabbed by a green sticky note.
On the blank page was the writing,
Merry Christmas, Oliver Wood
And underneath was the signature of Oliver’s favourite Quidditch player.
“She’s freaking amazing.” Oliver muttered under his breath, wondering how Y/N had even managed to pull all this off.
Oliver flipped through the pages, noticing how Y/N had annotated the book on his behalf. He was only falling deeper in love.
“I’m going to find Y/N.” He announced to his friends, who cheered.
“Go get ‘er, tiger!”
Oliver hurried out of the common room, wondering where on earth Y/N would be. The castle was huge, it would take him all day to find her. Luckily, he spotted Draco Malfoy walking down the corridor.
“Malfoy.” Oliver called out.
Draco sighed, rolling his eyes. “If you’re looking for my sister, she’s at the Black Lake. Don’t tell my parents you like her otherwise my stupid ship will be ruined.” And with that, he walked off.
Oliver ignored his odd words and rushed to the Black Lake. He saw Y/N sitting alone and humming to herself as she picked at the green blades of grass.
“You didn’t have to get me a broom, you know.” Oliver said, startling Y/N. She jumped slightly.
“You scared me! It wasn’t that much anyway… and it was on sale. So you don’t need to worry.”
Oliver spluttered. Not that much money? It was more than him and his friends’ bank accounts! Even if they combined all their money, it still wouldn’t be enough.
“The book by itself would have sufficed.” Oliver uttered as he took a seat next to Y/N.
“Yeah. But I had to up my game because other girls were eyeing you up.” Y/N grinned as she stood up, dusting the dirt off her skirt, “Merry Christmas, Oli. See you next year.”
Oliver spent his days before Christmas with the Weasley twins and more of his friends. Even Harry Potter was there. But one person was missing, much to his disappointment.
On Christmas Eve, he pondered what Y/N’s words at the Black Lake had meant. “I had to up my game because other girls were eyeing you up”. Did Y/N… like him back?
Oliver sighed, rushing to turn the lamp on his desk on. He pulled out a thick piece of parchment paper and began to messily scribble down his thoughts and everything he didn’t have the courage to say to Y/N in real life.
Oliver stared at his letter, sighing. He tried not to think too much as he rolled it up and sent his owl to the Malfoy Manor.
Meanwhile, Y/N was sitting by her window, relaxing as the fresh breeze blew through her hair. She heard a quiet chirp and opened her eyes to see an unfamiliar brown owl in front of her. It cooed and tilted its head.
Y/N slowly took the letter that was attached to the owl’s leg and got comfortable before she unravelled it.
Dear Y/N,
I know this letter may be unexpected and strange, especially since it’s Christmas Eve but those words you told me at the Black Lake are still stuck in my head. It feels a little lonely without you around. I’m going to be honest here… and hopefully you won’t laugh at how I pour my heart out.
I like you, Y/N. Not just for your looks or your family. You’re gorgeous, but there’s so much more to you that other guys can’t see for some reason. You’re kind and caring and you may as well be in Hufflepuff. Your ambition is admirable and you really know how to light up a room, even if it’s a room as big as the Great Hall.
You don’t look down on other people because they aren’t pure blood or come from a family like yours. Instead, you help them. There’s so many qualities that make you stand out from the crowd and I’m not expecting a reply any time soon, but I just thought you should know all this.
Santa Claus won’t really make me happy with a toy on Christmas Day. Y/N, I just want you for my own, more than you could ever know. Please Make my wish come true. All I want for Christmas… is you <3.
- Oliver Wood
P.S, thanks for the broom and book. I’m still trying to find a gift to top that.
Y/N’s lips curved into a smile as she read Oliver’s letter. Her room door was suddenly slammed open. Y/N couldn’t react fast enough and all she could do was place the letter face down on her bed.
“Father.” She greeted him, surprised that he was even home. He was supposed to be on a business trip. “What… are you doing here?”
“Receiving love letters already, Y/N?” Her father carelessly grabbed the parchment, his gaze scanning over the beautifully crafted words. After a moment, he nodded. “What is his blood status?”
Y/N looked at the ground, thickly gulping. “… Half-blood.” She uttered after a second of hesitation.
Her father silently nodded, his stern face never changing. “I’ll allow it.”
“W-What?” Y/N stumbled over her own words. Ever since she was young, her father had preached about the importance of marrying another pure blood so this was entirely out of character for him.
“That Wood boy…” Her father thought for a moment before clicking his tongue, “He’s staying at the Weasley’s house. The elves have packed your bags already. You leave tomorrow morning.”
Y/N was speechless. Was this her father or a random intruder?
“Good night, Y/N.” And with that, he left. Y/N sat on her bed, her eyebrows furrowed as she tried to process what had just happened.
A knock on the door interrupted breakfast for the Weasley family, Oliver, Harry, and Hermione.
Oliver, as charming as ever, stood up. “I’ll get it.” He offered, walking over to the door. He twisted the door knob and yanked it open, coming face to face with Y/N.
She smiled. “I hope I’m not intruding.” She uttered, peeking over Oliver’s shoulder. “I just wanted to quickly say one thing.”
Oliver could feel the prying eyes of Fred and George and he exasperatingly sighed, shutting the door behind him. “Yes?” His heart leaped in his chest as Y/N leaned forward with a grin.
“I like you too, quidditch boy.”

Hi there! I absolutely love the short write-up you did for Oliver Wood. <3
Would it be possible to request a short fic of Oliver Wood x Reader (other House) reuniting during the Battle of Hogwarts when they went back to fight, after having previously dated for a short time while they were schooling but broke up probably due to differences in priorities? Like they haven’t seen each other much since the break up and then graduating but seeing each other again made them want to give it another try. Thank you!!
So sorry I'm getting to this late, hope you like it!
Oliver Wood was a Hogwarts prodigy. Everyone knew his name alongside James Potter and Charlie Weasley's; they were the Quidditch Gods of the magical school. The names Regulus Black, Lily Evans and Y/N L/N were also quite famous, but for different reasons. The geniuses, students who soon after their time at Hogwarts became published witches and wizards for their incredible discoveries and talent.
That was one of the main reasons your relationship with Oliver Wood was so short-lived. You both had extreme talents, but they led you in opposite directions, only tugging you both further and further away from each other. Whilst you worked on magical discoveries that went beyond your education at Hogwarts, becoming known as one of the greatest witches of your time, Oliver worked relentlessly to fuel his passion for his sport which would build his career, his future. It only made the few months you spent together during your last year at Hogwarts unpleasant, the love you held for each other being over-powered by ambition, which led to the inevitable break up that shook all your friends, for they thought you would remain together forever, carrying out the legacy of being the one couple that would make it past their Hogwarts days.
Alas, that did not happen.
Instead, your magical discoveries were written and taught in the few years you had developed them and were the main source of protection for all the students who had decided not to fight the war, seeking shelter in the dungeons of the castle. Finally, what feels like days later, you're muttering the counter active spell, the hand holding your wand shaking with the trauma of the war you had just endured. When the protective force field finally breaks apart, you whisper the password to the Slytherin Common room. The portrait swings open and immediately the room falls silent. You announce that Voldemort's dead and spin around, heading into the direction you had just come from. You didn't want the reactions; The good, the bad or the dirty.
You wipe some blood from the side of your face, only to notice that the fabric of your long sleeved top doesn't soak up the liquid fast enough, and that you're bleeding quite heavily. Despite trying to stay calm, you begin to pant, tears blurring your vision, but you don't let them spill, not when you're so close to the Great Hall, where someone will have time to clean you up. Unfortunately, the way you immediately collapse onto a bench alerts more than just one person, and you suddenly have what feels like an audience crowding you. "Hey, hey, give her some space." The voice is familiar to you, but you just can't put your finger on who it is. "Y/N? Can you tell me your date of birth?"
The hand holding your face is gentle, and you can barely feel the tingle of the healing spell against the side of your face, which you take as a good sign. "You know my name." You recognise, slowly blinking. "Hey Y/N try keeping your eyes open for me, okay? Get me someone with skills here!" The demand goes to someone else, but it seems that those are the only words you're able to process. "So I take it I don't look so good?" Your words come out slurred and you feel your body slumping against something, or rather someone.
Oliver has resorted to being your own personal pillow. He didn't want you to look like one of the dead bodies, laying down still on the benches of the Great Hall, which has now become both a morgue and an infirmary. The spell he did on your wound worked, but he had one of the 7th Years going into healing fix you up and get some more blood into you to make up for what you lost. He felt your body sway against his and was immediately alert, even as you gathered balance to sit up on your own. He gave you time to process your surroundings, looking down at his feet instead. It was only when you cried "Oliver!" That he averted his gaze back to you.
"Y/N" He smiled, relieved that there was some colour in your face. You seemed confused yet surprised, putting together what had happened. "I haven't seen you in... A long time. How- are you hurt?" He laughed at your maternal instincts kicking in and shook his head at you. "No, Y/N, you got hurt. You were bleeding from your head and I just barely fixed you up." A look of realisation dawned on your face. "That was you? I... Well I feel bad now."
Oliver shook his head again, an awkward silence settling over the conversation. It was you to break the silence, stating "Well, I hear you're doing well now. I watched one of your games recently, you played nice." Oliver's eyes widened and he grinned, cocking his head to the side. "I can say the same about you, Ms. Published three books. And since when did you get into Quidditch?" It was your turn to act surprised now, retorting with "I've always liked Quidditch, I just didn't used to be into it. And you know, I wanted to see what was so special about Mr. Wood's Keeper skills here." Your eyes scanned the Hall around you, and the smile on your face slowly drops. As Oliver followed your eye-line, his did too.
"You didn't? You know, lose anyone important, did you?" You ask, now sounding a lot more empathetic. "Well I almost lost you for a second there." You glance over at Oliver and smile genuinely, matching the softness in his eyes. "Let me get you home safely. Everyone's already left." You nod at his words, using his arm as a support system for you to stand. You feel his muscles contract underneath you and look back up at him.
Despite the dirt and blood that freckles his face, he looks peaceful. He looks like someone you could find peace in.

"This is why you're my best friend."
I grinned as Oliver Wood, my regular partner in crime, whispered from next to me in the secret passage where we crouched. Normally, we were partners in Quidditch-based crime, coming up with the most amazing plays to destroy our opponents on the field. We'd been doing it since first year, even before anyone had been willing to listen to us and our Quidditch opinions.
Now, however, we were partners in crime in something that fit our Beater pair more than either of us. But with a match against Slytherin on the horizon and them playing ridiculous, cheaty mind games, I'd convinced Oliver to join me in doing the same.
We were going to get back at them by getting in their heads, the same way they'd been spending time trying to get in ours. And as soon as Marcus Flint came around the corner, ideally with a few other members of his team, our hovering bubbles of water and flour would drop down on them from the ceiling and our revenge would begin.
Thankfully, we didn't have to wait much longer. As we'd expected, Flint came into the hallway with his Beaters trailing him. Oliver and I waited for the perfect moment, then with a wave of our wands, dropped the balloons and flour smack onto their heads.
They froze in their tracks, horror on their faces, before they looked around wildly and angrily. Oliver and I shared a maniacal grin, then took off running in opposite directions as planned as Flint roared.
"WHO DID THAT?"
Oliver disappeared up the secret corridor as I popped into the hallway with the Slytherins, drawing their attention before disappearing around the corner of a castle hallway. Ideally neither of us would get caught, but Oliver was the Quidditch captain, so we needed to make sure he didn't get blamed for this lest the whole team be punished. Hence my part.
I could hear the footsteps of the Slytherins pounding against the cobblestones behind me, but I just cackled and picked up the pace, racing ahead. I flew around another corner, intending to put on a little more speed, but stopped dead in my tracks thanks to an unexpected obstacle. Percy Weasley, Oliver's roommate and one of my friends since first year, was walking down the hallway, completely oblivious of me and the angry Slytherins on my trail.
"Whoa! Y/N, what are you-"
"No time! Come with me, hurry!" I cried, grabbing Percy's arm and dragging him along after me. He immediately slowed me down, and if we kept going at this pace, Flint and his friends would catch us for sure.
Time for plan B.
I readied my wand and leveled it at the nearest door off the corridor, blasting it open before ducking inside, dragging Percy with me. I quickly shut the door behind us, relocking it with magic and then freezing to avoid making noise that would give us away.
"Really, Y/N, what on earth-"
"Percy, sh!" I said, raising my finger to my lips and staring him down with wide eyes. He didn't look completely pleased, but he listened, settling in to stare at me with his arms crossed while I watched the door.
I thought that would be that, but then Percy grabbed my arm to turn my attention back to him, one eyebrow raised almost into his hairline in demanding question. I sighed, then leaned in to whisper in his ear.
In the back of my mind, I realized just how closely together that put us, chest to chest in this tiny dark storage closet. I tried my best to force that train of thought to be quiet, especially since I was sure Percy didn't feel the same as I did.
"The Slytherins have been messing with our Quidditch team worse than usual," I whispered. "So, I'm helping my best friend by getting them back. We set a trap with water balloons and flour in the hallway, dumped it right on Flint's head, and got the Beaters too. After I triggered the prank, I took off and they chased. I ran into you, dragged us both in here so we wouldn't get caught, and now we're waiting for them to pass."
I leaned back at bit to gauge Percy's reaction, and for just a second, I thought I saw a faint blush on his cheeks through the dark. Then, I noticed his deep frown.
"What were you thinking!" he hissed, at least remembering to keep his voice down this time. "You know I'm the Head Boy, don't you? I have to get you in trouble for this!"
"Or..." I started, giving Percy a little smile as an idea came to me. He raised his eyebrows, still looking a little outraged, so I continued. "Percy, did you actually see me do anything wrong?"
"...Well, no. But I just heard you confess to dropping water balloons on the Slytherins-"
"Percy. I just saved you from an angry Marcus Flint, who absolutely had it coming, by the way. For once in your life just be chill."
He stared at me, stress written on every single line of his face, then finally sighed, his shoulders falling as he closed his eyes.
"Okay."
"Wait, really?"
He looked at me again, clearly incredibly tired of my nonsense. Maybe he was just trying to fake me out...
"Really, Y/N. I... you made a decent enough argument that I suppose, just this once..." he cleared his throat and rubbed at the back of his neck, and this time I definitely caught him blushing. "I suppose I can let it go."
"I freaking love you," I laughed, flinging my arms around him and pulling him in tight for a hug. He froze like a statue, then slowly, wrapped his arms around my waist. As he did, I realized what I'd just said, and I felt heat rising to my own face, too.
We stayed like that for a few beats, part of me not wanting to pull away and deal with the tension now blanketing this closet. After a moment, though, I did, slowly. Percy didn't drop his arms from around my waist, and I left mine around his neck as we made eye contact, all the humor and lightness gone.
"Percy..." I breathed. I glanced down at his lips before I could stop myself, and when I quickly looked back up after realizing what I'd done, I found Percy's gaze had wandered to my lips, too.
I smiled to myself, then leaned in and kissed him without letting myself think twice about it. I'd had a crush on Percy since fifth year, and Oliver had spent all of that time telling me to stop being a chicken and just ask him out. Now, two years later, I was finally managing to do just that.
Percy kissed me back as soon as he'd realized what was happening, and I smiled into the kiss. After a moment we pulled away, and I met Percy's eyes, wide with shock but a small smile on his face. I was practically glowing.
"You just kissed me," he said, like he still couldn't quite believe it. I nodded.
"I sure did. And I'm gonna do it again."
Percy huffed a quiet, happy laugh, then met me half way as I leaned back in towards him. Marcus Flint and the angry Slytherins were completely forgotten as I ran one hand through Percy's hair at the base of his neck, and he wrapped his arms even tighter around me.
"Hey, I think it's finally safe for you-"
Percy and I jumped apart and whirled around as the door flew open, revealing Oliver. I guess he'd come to find me once the danger of the Slytherins had passed, unfortunately for me. Oliver, Percy, and I stared at each other with wide eyes for a few moments, and then Oliver's face broke into a grin.
"FINALLY! I've had to spend years hearing you talk about Percy nonstop, only to go to bed and hear Percy talking about you until I hit him with a pillow!"
Percy and I exchanged a glance. I couldn't believe that all this time, he'd been just as hung up on me as I'd been on him.
"Alright, I don't need to see the lovey-dovey stuff even though I'm happy for you," Oliver said, putting his hand back on the door and taking a step back into the hallway. "Y/N, don't be late for practice. I expect to see you on the field in twenty minutes."
With that, he slammed the door again, leaving Percy and I alone in the small, dark space.
"You... you've talked to Oliver about me?" asked Percy, hesitant hope in his voice. I smiled.
"Of course. He's my best friend, and I've had a crush on you for years."
Percy beamed. "So have I."
"Well, I'm glad we finally got that cleared up then," I said, taking Percy's hand in the dark. It was amazing neither of us were literally glowing with happiness. "So... maybe we could do something this weekend? A date, or something?"
"I'd love that," he replied. "It's a Hogsmeade weekend, so perhaps some tea?"
"That sounds perfect." I leaned in to kiss him again, a short peck on the lips, then I pulled back and flung the closet door open. "I need to go or I'm going to be late to practice, and then Oliver will kill me, but... I'll see you in the Common Room tonight?"
"I'll see you tonight," he said with a little nod. I beamed back at him, then blew him one last kiss before taking off down the hallway again, headed for the Quidditch pitch outside, still floating on air. My prank on Flint had worked out even better than I'd hoped it would.

Shower Secret
Oliver Wood x fem!Hufflepuff!reader

There wouldn't be any reason to keep the relationship between a Gryffindor and a Hufflepuff a secret. If the Hufflepuff wasn't the shame of an all Slytherin family. So, Oliver Wood had to keep his relationship extra secret with the outsider girl.
With her reputation and the things that happened to her, Y/n couldn't be less worth to her parents. But with You-know-who being out and about, even her dissapointed parents didn't want her to get into it too much. So they kept an eye on her and made sure someone always watched what she was doing. If her parents found out she was dating some gryffindor, y/n didn't want to challenge someone and guess what they would do to Oliver.
After the Quidditch match against Hufflepuff, Oliver let himself ignore everyone that tried to come near him. That also counted for her.
When Y/n tried to make him talk to her, he only pushed her off and walked past her into a direction she couldn't see from the people that were running in her vision.
Harry was just being thrown off his broom by a dementor and now everyone needed to know what was going on with him, immediatly.
Y/n made her way to the Hospital Wing, pushing past the people who gave her dirty looks in the process or even yelling at her to get out. Fred and George apeared at the door, wanting to tell the others off when their eyes found Y/n's e/c one's.
"He's in the washingrooms," George called out to her, knowing who she truly cared for more.
Y/n rolled her eyes when she had to push past the ever growing crowed again. She made her way to the washingrooms, ignoring the eyes she felt on her as she past through the halls of Hogwarts.
The air was cold and in the process of almost freezing to death (or at least feeling like she will), Y/n opened the door without knocking. No one else was in there without Oliver.
"Olli?" She called out for him. The water stopped spilling and Y/n could hear the defeated and disappointed sigh leaving hef boyfriend's lips.
"Go away," He told her. "I'm not in the mood to talk about what happened."
Y/n slowly stripped off her shirt and trousers, only left in her underware, when she heard the shower being turned on again. She opened the shower curtain that hit Oliver and peeked inside. Oliver was leaning with his head against the wall, his eyes not darting in her direction, but instead they were focused on the crowd.
"We still lost," He said. "It's so unfair. Harry should've just got that snitch and then we would've won and still have a chance for the Quidditch cup."
Y/n touched his spine with her nose, leaning into his body. "You know it's not that easy. You know that better than anyone. And you still have a chance on the Quidditch Cup." She argued.
"But-" He stopped, not knowing what he wanted to argue himself.
"It's gonna be alright," She assured him, making him sigh again, but this time in relief. He always had someone who supported him. He knew that now better than ever.
"What if someone walks in?"
Y/n thought for a minute, would her answer scare him off? "I don't care," she whispered, kissing just below his ear and leaving small pecks down his neck. "They will probably out before noticing who it is anyway." Both laughed at that.
Oliver turned around, his hands holding her hips, while hers laid on his chest, drawing small shapes on his skin. "You make me go crazy."
"Oh yeah?" She asks teasingly, her toungue pulled between her teeth.
"Extremly." He kisses her, deeply devouring the taste of her lips. "I actually just train this hard for Quidditch to impress you." He breaks the kiss.
"Liar." Y/n answers without hesitation.
"I've got caught," He inhales sharply as her hands traveled lower with each word he spoke.
"You make me go crazy as well," She answeres, pulling him into another hot kiss.
The steam of the shower made the tension between them grow more lustful.
"Do you wanna continue this here or somewhere more private?" Y/n asked, pulling away and almost slipping from the water under her feet. Oliver held her steady and laughed as she straightend up again. "And not so slippery," She added.

REBLOGS R VERY APPRECIATED
。    ✧    ⁺     。
its nights like this where youre finally fully happy. nights where you sneak out of a party to be on your own. nights where the world is gone, its just you and him and the stars. you two were laying on the grass, looking up at the stars way past your curfew. how did you get yourself in this situation? so hopelessly inlove with a boy who thinks love is overrated. its so quiet, a peaceful quiet. but no matter how quiet it is, the thoughts youve always wanted to say will always make it seem so loud.
you stopped staring at the stars to turn your head towards the boy next to you. its bittersweet, really. you were sick of having him as a friend, you wanted more. but what if he didnt want to take that chance with you? what then? you’d rather have him like this then never have him. eventually he stopped star gazing, turning his face to look back at you. normally you’d turn away but this time you didnt.
he could look you dead in the eye and he’d never realize. he’d never know. thats when it all started coming out. “why cant we for once say what we want? say what we feel?” you asked, eyebrows slightly furrowing. maybe it was the alcohol, maybe it was the fuzziness in your brain. but as they say, a drunk mans words are a sober mans thoughts. he stared at you in confusion. not fully understanding what you meant. “why cant you for once disregard the world and run to what you know is real?” you asked again.
this boy was perfect. his laugh colored the sky and he had swirls of passion in his eyes. his voice was one you’d melt for, the way he says your name makes you feel like you’ll fade away if he’s too loud. you two were perfect together. at the end you’ll only regret the chances you didnt take, so why? why couldnt you say what you want? why couldnt he disregard the world for once? why couldnt he—
“i’ll take a chance with you.”

Oliver Wood x Reader
Kind of short, but this is an old oneshot from my wattpad that isn't as cringey as some of my other fics/oneshots.
Word: 1048
~~~
"Can we go back inside, Oli?" you pleaded, it was almost 3am yet Oliver was still partying hard with some other Gryfindors. All of your friends had went back to their dorms to sleep, so the only person you could stay with was Oliver.
You were afraid of walking back into the school alone since you were scared of the dark and lately Hogwarts was not the safest place to be. Voldemort was alive, and yet no one seemed to be phased by that.
"Oli?? Can you even hear me?!" you said loudly as you tugged on his sweater. Oli simply shrugged you off and shot you an annoyed look.
"Fuck off..." His words were slurred from all the drinks he had. Oliver then proceeded to prance over to the twins within a blink of an eye, leaving you alone in darkness with barely any time to process everything through your head.
"Oliver!" you called as you went after him, he knew about your fear but his drunken self didn't seem to care about that. He just kept on prancing around the dimly lighted field with you running after him with paranoia and anxiety flooding your systems as he moved towards the darker areas of the field.
"Oliver please!!! Let's go inside Im scared, please..." you begged as you kept watch of your surroundings, terrified that a death eater would jump out and beat your dumbass to death.
You slowed down as you were running out of stamina. You couldn't run anymore so you stopped and tried to listen to his footsteps in the grass. But they grew softer as he ran further away from you, everyone has already left. The only people you could see were the twins heading back inside the school with their wands lit with light. But just your luck! You had forgot your wand in your dorm. So you stood there in silence trying so hard to hear to any sound.
You heard absolutely nothing as your hands started to shake in fear, you were alone in a dark field with no human being in sight, no wand, no weapon, no flashlight. You slowly got to the ground and tried to calm yourself down and figure out how to get back to Oliver.
Luckily the air was warm so you wouldn't have to worry about dying of frostbite. It had been a good five to ten minutes so Oliver was already long gone. There were no stars in the sky and the moon was hidden within thick dark clouds. You could barely see and you had no idea where the school was as you couldn't trust your self to head in the right direction.
Every soft rustle of nature gave you a mini heart attack. You curled up into a ball in the grass and wrapped yourself up in your jacket to comfort yourself. And as minutes passed you grew more and more exhausted, but yet you were terrified to fall asleep. And you were terrified to go back, scared that you would go in the wrong direction like a blind bat and navigate to the even darker forbidden forest. What if you fell into a trap?? You still remember little Harry Potter telling you about that dark figure he had seen in the forest during detention.
It was probably past 3am, you felt yourself fall asleep in the grassy fields. You tried to stop yourself, but there was no use. You weren't going anywhere because of your fear, staying in one spot was stupid but it was the best option since you were afraid to even twitch, terrified that the slightest noise would attract something horrible to come your way.
. . .
"What's she doing here?" a sweet voice said,
"I Don't know," a deep voice responded.
You suddenly felt a shake on your shoulder and your eyes were then blinded by sunlight. You groaned as you realized you were luckily still in the same spot as you were last night. Nothing has happened to you.
"Sorry to wake you, but we have quidditch practice!" You recognized the girl as Angelina Johnson.
"Angelina?" you said confused,
"Oh honey what are you doing here?? I could barely recognize you, no offense but you're a mess!" Angelina cried as she pulled out a live of grass from your hair. She helped you up and help you get rid of the dirt on your clothes.
"Oliver left me here," you said shakily as everything processed through your head. "H-He was drunk and he started running and I went after him because I- I was scared and then he got away and he never came back!" you said quickly as Angelina pulled you into a hug. She was one of your best friends and knew about your fear of the dark.
"Im sorry sweetie, Im sure he didn't mean it on purpose," Angelina said softly, "but if you want me to, I can beat him with a broomstick."
You grinned and giggled a little bit, before you noticed Oliver stumbling onto the field with bags under his eyes.
He was having a hang over.
"Was Oliver in the common room last night?" you asked curiously, wanting to know if he made it back to the school.
"Yes, he was babbling about how he wishes- oh never mind," Angelina said giving you a quick smile,
"No, tell me," you said looking at her expectingly. She cringed,
"It's nothing good though..." she trailed off
"Just tell me please,"
"...He said that he wishes that- that you could just leave him alone.. then he said some not so nice things about you," Angelina said frowning, "Im so sorry honey, I probably shouldn't have said anything." she said as she noticed your frown and the look of hurt in your eyes.
"No, it's my fault, I wanted to know," you said sighing and rubbing your eyes. "I'll see you later, I just need to get refreshed... thank Merlin it's a Saturday..." You referred to your dirty clothes and messy hair, Angelina nodded and gave you a sympathetic smile.
"Take care of yourself okay? Don't think too much of Oliver, okay? He doesn't deserve to be thought of at the moment," Angelina said before blowing you a kiss goodbye as you made your way back to the school, that was closer than it seemed from last night.
Fear Gripped His Heart (Oliver Wood)
TW: injury, cussing, and violence
Word Count: 1195
There you were, in the air during the usual stressful Gryffindor v. Slytherin Quidditch match. You were a seeker, and Draco was angry with you as a fellow seeker since you were better than him in past games.
As a way to take you down a few notches, Malfoy signaled to Goyle the next time you two were near Goyle and Crabbe. As you make a loop to get the Golden Snitch, passing Goyle, he took a swing; only intending to knock you off your broom.
But he hit too soon and smacked you square in the face at full speed from both you and Goyle. As the bat hit you, smashing your nose and knocking you unconscious, you fell to the ground. You hit your head HARD on the impact with the ground.
Everyone was holding on by batted breaths in fear that you died. Malfoy was then able to get the Golden Snitch, but even the Slytherins in the audience were silent, both from the shame Malfoy just brought with the win and your critical condition on the field.
Although Oliver Wood severely disliked you, he would be lying to say that fear was not gripping his heart as he flew down to the ground to you. He ran over to you and breathed the faintest sigh of relief when he felt your faint pulse.
"With that move from Mr. Malfoy and Mr. Goyle, Slytherin just received a 600-point deduction. Any complaints will be an additional 100 points. Each. Time." McGonagall announced, and there were gasps in the crowd at such a high number, though it was expected.
"She has a faint pulse." He yells as he scoops you up in his arms and runs to the hospital wing with McGonagall. Little does Oliver realize that the rest of the Gryffindor team follows Oliver. All he knew was he was panicking for you and that the professor was fuming with rage.
Oliver got you to the hospital wing and was told to wait outside until you were stabilized. Snape, who often had some strange favoritism towards the platinum blond Malfoy, even ran in at McGonagall's request to give you some healing potions. After some time, Oliver grew impatient and started to pace up and down the hallways. The twins would have tried to calm him down; however, they were just as panicked as their captain, so they let him pace.
"Why did you even hate her, mate?" Ron asks, which causes Oliver to stop dead in his tracks.
"I don't need to tell you." Oliver states.
"Well, someone is defensive. Why are you so defensive, Cap?" Fred eggs on.
"I am not defensive."
"Oh, you so are! Come on, just tell us!" George says.
“Fine, I don’t know! I do not know why I hated her! Probably because I felt she was the better Quidditch player than myself, and I felt insecure! There! You happy!” Oliver confessed, annoyed.
"Sounds like some pent-up tension!" The twins exclaimed at the same time.
"She almost died, and THAT is what you think of? Childish!" Oliver states, making the twins feel embarrassed about their comment. As he started to pace again, Pomfrey stepped out.
"So, she is stable; however, she sustained significant injuries from broken bones to internal bleeding, which we have healed. She also has a severe Grade 3 concussion. However, her body has gone into shut down mode to conserve her energy for healing said injuries. She is currently in an induced coma in an attempt to quicken her recovery process." Pomfrey said, and with that, the Gryffindor quidditch team pushed their way in to see you.
When they got to your bedside, the sustained injuries far exceeded their expectations. Your nose, although it was healed, having been broken, was swollen and covered in bruises. Your entire face, in general, was swollen (having been hit with a bat) and covered in bruises. You were hooked up to all kinds of machines for breathing, feeding, beating your heart in case it failed for a second or two, and other countless devices.
Oliver breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the heartbeat machine show that your heartbeat is stronger than it was on the field. He pulled a chair up and sat down beside you. He wanted to hold your hand, but you even had a needle in your hand. Oliver looked up to see that the twins, Ron and Harry, had left; although he suspects he knew where they were going, he had more important concerns on his mind than how bad that group was going to beat the shit out Malfoy and his goons.
Sure enough, the shit was beaten out of Malfoy and his goons since that same afternoon they were brought into the hospital wing; although they were put into beds as far away from you as possible, they still saw your condition.
"Is she okay?" Malfoy asks and receives a venomous look from Oliver.
"She would tell you how she is, but she is in a medically induced coma thanks to YOU. SO, IF YOU VALUE LIVING, GO BACK TO YOUR BED AND STAY THERE, YOU ASSHOLE WITH YOUR FRAGILE EGO!" Oliver spat, and Draco practically ran back to his bed.
Over the next week, Oliver only left your bedside to go to classes, get his meals from the Great Hall (at dinner, he got his dinner and brought it to the wing to eat next to you), and go to the bathroom. He even slept in the chair next to you.
On the fifth day of you being in the medically induced coma, Pomfrey reversed the medicines that kept you in the coma, and you woke up to Oliver asleep next to you. Once Pomfrey took you off the machines (even the IV) that were for the induced coma, you felt like you could feel relieved. You were informed that you had to still stay in the hospital wing for an additional 72 hours for observation.
You motioned for Pomfrey to get you water since your throat was so dry you could not speak. Upon drinking the water, you cleared your throat, which caused Oliver to stir a little.
"Ollie?" You croak out, still with a sore throat.
"Hmm?" Oliver still not registering that you are awake.
"Ollie?" You say again, now a bit louder.
"Y/n, you are okay!"
"That I am. What are you doing here?"
"I was so worried about you, and while you were in the coma, I finally concluded that I do not hate you. I am so sorry for how I treated you in the past. I understand if you hate me for my treatment of you in the past."
"Ollie, shut up. I heard everything you told our team; I have been able to hear everything the entire time I was in my coma. I forgive you as long as you crawl into bed beside me so I can cuddle you." You say and see a smirk fall on his face.
"I think I can do that," he said, getting into bed, and you curled next to Oliver with your head on his chest.
Concussion (Oliver Wood x reader)
Warnings: smut, oral male receiving, swearing
Summary: Oliver gets knocked out after being thrown off his broom by a Slytherin. You stay by his side but his concussion makes him irritable. He’s in so much pain you decide to take care of him.
Tumblr media
Oliver lays on the hospital bed still knocked out after being thrown off his broom by a Slytherin at todays game. You sit by his side rubbing his scalp trying to soothe him in hope he will awaken. You were frozen in fear as you watched him fall, you couldn’t get up to see if he was okay until others from the crowd assured you he was alive.
Slowly Oliver’s eyes begin to open, his team mates are also here to show support for their captain. He groans in pain and Madam Pomfrey rushes to his aid. Once the team had given him their best wishes she sent them off so he could have some space.
You stayed by his side the whole time, you tried to cheer him up in every way you could think but he was short with you. “Oli, do you want me to go?” You ask softly “No stay” he says holding your hand firmly “i am in a lot of pain so I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings it’s not my intention” “I know, it’s okay” he reaches up slightly but you meet him with a kiss.
Madam Pomfrey releases him from the hospital wing and gives you everything you need as well as instructions on how to take care of him. He refuses to be wheeled in a wheelchair so you put your arm around him and let him lean on you as you walk to his dorm.
Oliver is well liked which is why it wasn’t a surprise that everyone wanted to talk to him but you tried to get him to his dorm as quick and safely as possible. You finally get him there and into bed “thank you darling” he kisses your forehead as you stack pillows behind him.
Once he is comfortable you organise his meds and everything he needs. “Darling?” He asks “Yes, Oli?” “Can you come cuddle? It will help my pain.”
He makes some space for you and you get into bed with him and try to adjust the pillows but he hits his head on the bed post “fuck” he yells “shit, baby I’m so sorry” you gently rub his head “stop. Just stop” he yells. “I’m sorry, I failed at everything” you mumble “I know you’re trying to help and you’re doing a great job, it’s just these pain meds are only doing so much.”
He pulls you into a hug “you didn’t fail at this, you could never fail at comforting me.” Something about the way he assured you created a solution to help him feel better.
You let go of the hug “I promise I won’t fuck this up” you say “fuck what up?” He asks as you lift his shirt up halfway pressing kisses down his stomach. Your fingers slide into his pants and start to palm him over his underwear “fuck darling” he groans as you feel him getting hard underneath your touch.
Your hand slip underneath his underwear as you begin to jerk him off slowly “feels good” he assures you “I love it when you touch me like this.”
You stop jerking him off to get rid of his pants and underwear letting his dick free. Your spit on his dick letting your saliva run down the base down to his balls “Oh darling, you are going to be the death of me.”
Your lips wrap around the head and you start sucking and swirling your tongue around the head tasting his precum and letting out a moan. Slowly you begin moving further down until your nose hits his mound. Oliver’s moans become louder and needier which makes you incredibly wet but you focus solely on Oliver.
Your hands massage his balls, he goes wild every time you pay attention to his balls. “Fuck darling, that’s it.” You start to move faster on his dick your eyes start to water and drool goes down your chin, you can hear the sounds coming from the back of your throat that Oliver is obsessed with.
“So good for me darling, I’m so close” this prompts you to do everything you can to keep going. “Fuck, I’m really close, you got to pull out if you don’t want me cumming down your throat” he warns but that’s what you want.
“Ah so good darling” he says as he cums in your mouth. You swallow and gently remove your mouth from his dick. “Thank you” he kisses your forehead “so much better than pain meds, do you need me to repay you?” He asks as you help him out his boxers on “No, it’s about you my love, I’ll manage as long as you are okay.”
You lay down carefully beside him facing him with your lips almost touching, he wraps his arms around you. “I don’t deserve you” he mumbles against your lips “yes you do” you close your eyes and lazily kiss him.
Young
⊹ genre: Fluff mostly, minimal angst
⊹ pairing: Fred Weasley x Slytherin female reader
⊹ themes: Friends to lovers
⊹ summary: Fred rejected your advances, claiming you’re too young. You set out to seduce him, which backfires. Unwarranted comments were made in your presence, and George attempted to comfort you, finally explaining his fears and feelings in the process.
⊹ warnings: Swearing, third-party slut-shaming of the reader, mentions of an emotionally toxic relationship, very brief mention of drugs.
⊹ word count: 1.7k
⊹ a/n:  I don’t know why I’ve chosen to base this whole fic off of rejection yet again, but It’s completely different to the last, trust. A cute Fred one today because I’ve had a recent fixation on the twins and can’t seem to write for anyone else atm.
Tumblr media
Confidence has come naturally to you since the first day you walked through the castle doors. Many would wager that’s why you ended up in Slytherin over Hufflepuff. You’d never had issues letting people know how you felt about them; rejection had never been a concern or a fear simply because your self-assurance wasn’t so easily deteriorated.
This wasn’t ever in question until two weeks ago. You hadn’t thought twice about approaching Fred after months of mutual teasing, or so you thought it was. You went to his spot on Gryffindor’s table in the morning, greeting him with a single pumpkin pasty. You waited till he took a bite out of it before making some quip that you couldn’t seem to, or rather didn’t want to remember, about owing you a kiss and maybe something more in return for it, to which he painfully, tragically mustered a chuckle past his lips, probably the most awkward position I’ve seen him in, before finally finding the words to let you down easily.
“You know I love you endlessly, but we’re friends” He could’ve just as easily stopped there, but he continued.
“You’re just a little too young for me.”
Young
He briefly dated Amelia Farrow last spring, and she’s four months younger than you, so obviously, it wasn’t an age issue. He saw you as immature, a kid. He couldn’t even begin to picture you as attractive in any form. Actually, feeling affected as a result of rejection was unfamiliar; it was scary. How had you allowed yourself to feel enough for a man that your own stability suffered? As a result, you didn’t just feel hurt, you felt inferior, and that was harrowing enough in itself.
You were just beginning to fall into another rant directing every expressional detail from the twitch of his bottom lip to the scrunch in his left brow when you were interrupted by a loud sigh.
“Babe, I couldn’t live a day without you, but swooning over a blood-traitor Weasley is way more than I can handle for the 7th time this morning”, Pansy quipped after a supportive kiss on my cheek.
“Give me a solution then”, you pleaded, faux pouting while hugging her thighs desperately.
“Seduce him, love; you’ve got the best ass on anyone in this entire school. Malfoy tells me he’s got a preference for it, says he lets a lot slip when they’re off smoking muggle grass.”
“Teach me how. You’re probably the only girl in our year every Slytherin male wants to shag a second time.”
-
It was the first quidditch match of the year, so naturally, you put on your uniform from 3rd year to cheer the team on. Malfoy found your overreaction to rejection amusing, like a fish out of water, to use his words, so he didn’t mind playing the role of the pawn in your game. You spent all game cheering Draco on, making sure you were just enthusiastic enough to attract Fred’s attention.
The game finally came to an end. Gryffindor just barely scraped by, with Harry catching the snitch. I could already see Oliver Wood pushing Fred about, demanding a valid reason for his poor performance during the game. He pushed Wood off of him and stormed off with an exasperated look on his face.
I caught up to him a few feet away, deciding to skip past the jokes, figuring he wasn’t quite in the mood.
“Hey, you okay?” I timidly asked, reaching out to stroke his hand
“You sure move on quick, don’t you?” He spoke harshly, ignoring my question completely
“Are you serious? You reject me, then get mad at my attempts to move past that?” I shoved his shoulder, feigning annoyance. I knew exactly what I was doing, trying to prompt a reaction out of him.
“And what the hell are you wearing? Damn near sent Adrian Pucey spiralling into the benches with your ass out like that.”
“So I had both team’s beaters distracted, huh?”
“I wasn’t distracted so much as horrified.” He immediately followed
You shoved him playfully. “Shut up, weasel. You’re literally still staring at my tits.”
“You’re telling me you didn’t put that outfit on for me to stare at?” He whispered as we came to a halt just outside the quidditch changing rooms
To my dismay, I couldn’t think of anything to do or say but scoff at him, to which his grin grew even bigger.
He turned to leave, my brain regaining activity without the pressure of his eyes in contact with mine.
“I put it on so you’d have a clearer image to jack off to tonight.”
I headed back to my dorm before he could get another word in.
-
I approached the great hall hand in hand with Daphne Greengrass, completely satisfied with the way I left things with Fred yesterday, convinced I’d won. The smile on my face immediately dropped as I heard the conversation taking place at the Gryffindor table.
“- he’s even got a Slytherin girl in his pocket, dressing up like a little slut just for him.”
“Tell me, Weasley, does she like it rough?”
“Seems like the kind of girl that’d take it in the back.”
Your heart dropped as you heard comments from miscellaneous men in the house, jeering over each other, collectively patting an angry-looking Fred on his back and shoulders in a congratulatory manner.
We made eye contact. Before the men at his table sensed my presence, too, I broke away from Daphne and sprinted out of the Hall. I sank by a tree in front of the lake as I took shallow breaths.
What hurts is that every assumption they made about my character felt deserving. When did I become the girl so desperate for one man’s attention that I so pathetically made myself more sexually desirable in his eyes? So that his lust would cloud his judgement and throw me lay at the very least? I hadn’t even realised how delirious I was acting and how painfully obvious it was to everyone but me just how much more I clung to the idea of him. It was like a montage of clarity was playing in my brain, of the way I continued running up to the Gryffindor common room every morning, taking every opportunity to make what I thought was subtle physical contact with him. God.
I let out a little yelp when I finally opened my eyes. Fred sat right next to me, leaning his head against the tree the same way I was.
“God, you scared me half to death! fucking cunt” I muttered the last part, allowing my anger to peak through
“I had Malfoy help me make sure those guys’ mouths stay shut. I’m sorry you had to hear that, and I’m sorry they were able to say more than two words without me hexing them and their mothers, to begin with. None of what any of them said is worth your care. They heard us talking outside the changing rooms yesterday. They’re all jealous little virgins that have-
“They were things I needed to hear” I cut him off before he fell into a rant that honestly wouldn’t have made a difference to the way I felt.
He looked at me incredulously, struggling to find the words to respond.
“I was seeking your attention so incredibly desperately. It embarrasses me to think about it. You said no; I should’ve respected that and left it as it was. I took your reasoning personally, and for the way I’ve acted since that day, I apologise, truly,” I continued.
He sighed. “I only said what I said out of fear. I’m sure you remember I briefly dated a Hufflepuff girl in your year, Amelia. I made a mistake getting involved with her. She didn’t know how to separate love from attachment, and it got to a point her dependence on me started affecting her mental well-being, along with mine. Nobody saw much of me during the time we were dating because I was just so caught up with making sure she was okay since she relied on me completely. I didn’t realise  I was even allowed to have boundaries at all in a relationship. She constantly made me feel selfish and uncaring for wanting space or even just time with my family. When you told me how you felt about me, I had recovered from the relationship, but I hadn’t yet allowed myself to consider a future relationship with another person. I said what I thought I needed to say to avoid our relationship turning into the one I had with Amelia. But ever since you told me how you felt about me, it made me realise nothing about us has ever been platonic to me. I have never thought of you that way, and even when I tried to, I didn’t know how to look at you in any other way than lovingly. I feel so much for you. I could see myself loving you so easily. I’m just really afraid. I don’t know if I’m ready to navigate that all over again.”
It took me a while to respond, taking in everything he said in a state of such vulnerability. I noticed a stray tear on my skirt; it was his. I immediately reached out to hold his hands in comfort. I opened my mouth to respond but was cut off yet again.
“I will never allow anyone to say a word against you ever again, love.” He added
“I care a lot about you, Fred. I reacted the way I did, with such force and conviction, because it’s unfamiliar to me too, feeling so deeply for someone. Whatever you want to come from this, we can do. I want to learn to keep my independence through my feelings for you. I don’t think declaring something more than friendship will change things between us overnight, and I think all we need to do is keep being us.”
“Okay”, he responded timidly but surely.
He could’ve just stopped there, but I’d come to learn that’s never something to expect from him.
“I absolutely did jack off to you last night, though.”
I kicked him in the shin as we walked back to the castle, hand in hand.
shut up…and kiss me
gn!reader x george weasley
words: 1121
summary: y/n is tired of the stupid pranks the Weasley twins pull, but despite this, they can’t help but find one of them so lovable.
Tumblr media
“It’s every day with these stupid pranks.”
“You don’t have to take the fun out of everything,” Lee says with a grin. We’re sitting at our table in the back of the charms classroom. The class has just ended, but Lee and I have nowhere to be. Somehow, we lucked out with having a free period before lunch, giving us extra time to goof off.
“I just want to pass this class. I shouldn’t have to worry which class the Weasley twins will blow up next.” Lee rolls his eyes, but I don’t feel wrong for what I said. Usually, with this free time, we would go to the quidditch pitch to mess around and inevitably terrorize Oliver Wood because of it. Or at the very least, we would get to relax in the common room, but I’d been trying to avoid the twins ever since their pranks started getting shockingly extreme.
“In their defense, I don’t think they’ve ever blown up an entire classroom.”
“Yet,” I mumble. Lee says their pranks are getting more extreme because we’re about to graduate, so there are fewer consequences. I say it’s because they’re getting more deranged.
“Awe, you don’t like our pranks?” I quickly turn my head to the right to see Fred’s head poking between Lee's and my shoulders. It’d be comedic if his ability to be sneaky wasn’t so terrifying.
“We just want to entertain the masses.” I swivel my head to the left to find George hovering over my other shoulder. He’s closer than Fred was, and the smell of pine radiates off him. It overshadows the smell of fireworks and candy that linger on his clothes, most likely from his new inventions. It combines to make a warm smell that I could wrap myself in on a cold day.
“Well, clearly y/n is not part of the masses, because they don’t seem to be having much fun,” Lee mocks. Fred and George pout while Lee tries his best to keep from laughing his ass off.
“You don’t like our pranks?” Fred asks as he jabs his index finger into my cheek.
“That’s just pitiful,” George says. He leans his head against my shoulder and lets out a deep sigh. From the right, I can tell Lee and Fred are giggling. A part of me wants to say something, or to shut them up, but the other part of me wants George to stay leaned up against me for eternity. As I’m contemplating my choices, George lifts his head.
“Time to go, Feorge?” Fred asks his twin.
“We have mischief to manage elsewhere, Gred,” George responds with a serious look. My suspicion that they’re maniacs grows rapidly.
“I have never understood those nicknames they have for each other,” I tell Lee once the twins are out of the room.
“I have never understood how you and George aren’t dating yet.” I shoot him a grim look, but he just returns it with a toothy smile.
“I don’t know what makes you think I’m interested in that miscreant.”
“Well, the fact I have eyes capable of seeing past your bullshit makes me know you want him. I see the way your eyes linger on his lips and the way you two always keep physical contact for just a bit too long, and let’s not forget the time Gryffindor won a quidditch match against Slytherin and you ran over to the field and hugged him for like ten minutes.”
“Maybe I’m just passionate about quidditch,” I counter. Lee laughs in my face, but when he realizes I’m serious, his smile drops.
“If you were passionate about quidditch, you’d be dating Wood, not drooling over George.”
“Hey! I do not drool,” I scoff, and he just rolls his eyes.
“Well, since you’re so passionate about quidditch, let’s go study by the pitch,” he suggests hopefully. He suggests going there so much that I consider he could be the one in love with Wood.
As we make our way down to the pitch, I hear soft music, which is a shock because I’d usually hear the whirling of brooms and yelling amongst teammates. As we round the corner, I turn to see George Weasley standing alone on the quidditch pitch. He’s taken off his school robe and just has on his white button-down and black trousers. Small candles that gently hover above the ground circle him while he holds out his hand in my direction.
“Now, go talk to him,” Lee says mischievously as he lightly shoves me forward before walking away in the other direction. I guarantee that he and Fred will be spying on George and me this entire time. I stand in front of George and slowly take his hand as the music continues to softly play in the background. It’s a song I’ve never heard before, but I can tell it’s French, and I can tell that it’s the type of song you slow dance to. As George takes my hand, pulling me close, he begins to slowly waltz with me on the field.
“How did you manage this?”
“I had to beg Wood to reserve the quidditch pitch so I could use it,” he says with his face tucked into my hair. I can hear his smile, and I’m impressed he worked something like this out.
“How’d you convince Wood to go for that?” My question is just louder than a whisper so I don’t disrupt the music as we continue to dance.
“I’m going to prank the Slytherin quidditch captain in return,” he tells me with a quiet laugh, and I can't help but smile. “I love to be near you,” he continues, “as crazy as I might sound, I wouldn’t want to love anyone but you.” My face heats up with his words, but he just holds me tighter.
“As stupid as I find some of your pranks, I wouldn’t want to spend a second away from you,” I admit. It’s something I never thought I’d hear myself say out loud, but I’m happy to finally get it off my chest. He gently pulls himself away from me and stops dancing. I look up at him nervously, hoping I didn’t say the wrong thing, but before he gives me that chance to apologize, he’s already got one hand holding my jaw. He pushes himself towards me again, and I feel his soft lips meet mine. The kiss quickly turns passionate, and my thoughts become jumbled.
“So, would it be safe to say we’re dating now?” He asks with a cheeky grin as he pulls out of the kiss.
“I think it would be safe to say that,” I assure, right before pushing us back into the kiss.
