Hello, Sara! Would you recommend me one (or more if you'd like) combo of classic book and a tea to go with it? ✨️
Ohh this is such a lovely ask, thank you so much for sending it in!! Now, let's see...
The Baron in the Trees by Italo Calvino -> green tea (sencha perhaps?) with cinnamon and ginger - and some mint too, maybe – respectively, for the prominent role nature plays in the story, for the warmth and reflective nature of some episodes, and the freshness and adventurous pace of others 🌿;
Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens (but I think most of his works would fit) -> Russian Caravan/lapsang souchong with a cinnamon stick and vanilla – I think the smoky flavour would be a perfect fit for London's fog and darkness, but some episodes are calmer, and the protagonist is a child, so some sweetness was needed 🌫️.
I wasn't sure how specific you preferred the pairings to be, but these are all easy enough to find and make. Again, thank you for reaching out, this was fun!

Every choice has its obverse, that is to say a renunciation, and so there is no difference between the act of choosing and the act of renouncing.

My Month in Books: February 2023
The World We Make by N.K. Jemisin The City We Became was one of my absolute favourite reads of 2020 and I was buzzing with excitement to hear more from the five avatars of New York City and explore the other living cities of the world. Jemisin, as always, delivers a gripping and creative novel full of breathtaking world-building. However, my only critique is that the whole thing does feel…

Today is the 225th birthday of Gaetano Donizetti (1797-1848). One of his most popular operas, "Lucia di Lammermoor", was on the program on the third day after The Metropolitan Opera opened in 1883. Here we see an original cast sheet from December 3, 1883. It was then sang by the famous Marcella Sembrich and with overwhelming success Italo Campanini.
To this day, Donizetti's operas enjoy many performances.

Arriving at each new city, the traveler finds again a past of his that he did not know he had: the foreignness of what you no longer are or no longer possess lies in wait for you in foreign, unpossessed places.
