shoes (part one)
tasm!peter x fem!reader
summary:
“apparently dating your boss is a 'conflict of interest.'"
"i can't imagine why."
warnings: haha, just lots of nothing, harry is there, peter is there, reader is there, rich people stuff, mentions of alcohol, secrets that only i know
a/n: two in one night???? yes. i’ve been sitting on this for like seven years. (cowboy like me).

peter doesn't often pay attention to people's shoes.
he's never been inclined to stare at the ground, or, at least, to stare at the ground and not watch the strange way it seems to rumble beneath him. to watch people walk like he might look up and find them smiling back at him.
no, he doesn't have time to look down and appreciate the scuff marks on someone's nikes. he doesn't want to stare at someone's wingtips and wonder where he can get a pair for himself.
his old tennis shoes are enough comfort for him to ignore the tears in the soles, and the laces are only slightly frayed at the edges. a bit black from years of neglect and errant ideas of buying the exact same pair.
but tonight, standing in this crowded room and listening to people politely chuckle, he's staring at the shoes beneath him.
there are high heels, wingtips, and fancy leather slippers that probably cost more than his rent, and amongst them all, his converse are certainly a conversation starter.
that is, if peter was actually attempting to talk to anyone.
he can hear all of these people speaking about investments, the stock market, and the kids these days that just don't want to work, and all of the rich-people-talk that he doesn't get to hear often. even staring at the floor like he's doing, looking strangely obsessed with feet, he knows whose granddaughter is valedictorian and who plans to become the next state senator.
but he doesn't hear anything necessarily useful.
nothing about strange men growing claws, or people dying in alleyways with no one around. no one's grandson has become a living wart, and no one here cares if another building gets destroyed by some strange--and necessary--experiment.
the shoes are nice, though. he can follow a person around the room just by following their footsteps. he can watch people walk and act like he's not supposed to be here.
because he's really not.
the fact that jameson happened to give him this job--begrudgingly, with a frown on his face and a hang of his head--is a miracle. and a disaster because lucy, whom peter is replacing, is going to pass her stomach bug to the rest of the office, and then peter will receive the grunt work.
but he was going to sneak in anyway. he was going to watch from the ceiling--far enough away for shoes to be a mere blur and people to be anaomlys, rather than annoying. he was going to hide in the dark and maybe steal a couple of appetizers.
instead, he's standing in the middle of the room in his converse, holding his camera like he might actually want to capture some of this.
the egos and complete ignorance of everything important happening in the world. the smell of money and arrogance.
peter is thinking about ditching the party--telling jameson that he puked all over some lady's jimmy choo's--when two pairs of footsteps head toward him, rattling like a drum roll.
high heels and tennis shoes, not unlike his own.
he's staring down at a wonderful pair of jordan's when the approaching subject clears his throat, and a flash of teeth causes peter to finally look up.
and meet wide eyes, staring right back at him.
you're wearing lipstick, bright glitter flashing across cheekbones that didn't need to be defined. you're wearing lipstick and a smirk, like you know that peter's going to get lost staring at you.
which, currently, he is.
but your eyes are grinning at him; they are warning him to run.
and he almost can't look away.
wouldn't, if not for the arm attached to yours, and a familiar voice saying his name.
"peter," the man says, clapping him on the back and pulling his eyes away from a girl that he probably should've noticed an hour ago. "didn't think i'd be seeing you here."
why would he?
harry osborn is giving peter a wide smile, his eyes are reflecting secrets from a childhood peter can't seem to remember currently.
but may pounded enough etiquette into his head for it to remain, even when everything else doesn't.
"good to see you," peter says, hugging harry back and finally paying attention, noting a new haircut that is definitely not helping his childhood friend with anything. "if i'd known you were going to be here, i would've found you hours ago."
harry steps back, straightening his back and looking around. "i'm here in my father's place. he wasn't feeling up to it."
peter swallows. "he alright?"
"just a cold, i'm sure," harry shakes his head, sharing an inside joke with peter that neither of them understands. "what're you doing here? finally hooking up with one of the girls from high school?"
peter bites the inside of his cheek, sharing a short laugh.
did you finally marry a rich girl?
"no," he answers, voice still light, eyes still leaning to his right, where you're still standing. "i'm here for work. taking pictures of the banquet for the daily bugle."
harry nods. "did you get a good one of me?"
"of course not."
when harry laughs, peter laughs with him. he looks down again, feeling weirdly comforted that he's not the only one wearing tennis shoes in a place like this. glad that he can tell jameson he spoke to someone.
he looks up again, shaking his head. and then he turns, clearing his throat. "and you are?"
when he meets your eyes again, there's a new glint. a flash of lightning beneath the clouds. your mouth opens, but harry speaks before you get the chance.
"this is y/n davis. my date."
there's a breath, a flash, and someone pops open a bottle of champagne, but peter manages to keep his full attention on you.
"nice to meet you," you say, a tight smile on your face.
your voice is soft and stern, like peter shouldn't disagree.
he's smiling back, but he's not sure that he can hide the surprise on his face. he's sure that he's seen you somewhere before. sure that he recognizes that look on your face...
"this is her first banquet too," harry adds, pulling you closer. peter can hear your shoes click as you adjust.
"there's a lot of people. not enough alcohol."
peter's lip twitches, and yours does the same.
but harry laughs. "there's an open bar," he whispers to you. "i told you i'd get you a drink whenever you'd like."
you look away from peter and to the other man. "i'm just kidding."
harry scoffs, and peter leans back, looking towards the bar that he'd mentioned. "no, i agree," he says, "i thought you guys were supposed to have waiters walking around with cocktails. i have to walk all the way over there for a beer?"
harry shakes his head. "should've brought a date to do it for you."
peter shifts on his feet. there's a beat of silence, where he remembers what he's supposed to be doing here, and then swallows. "how long do these typically last?"
"it's not polite to leave until ten."
"and if i conveniently left my manners at home tonight?"
you smile at him, leaning forward--enough so that peter gets a whiff of perfume. "i saw a backdoor around the corner that you could escape through."
harry rolls his eyes.
peter pretends to look for the door, already having known where it was. the door he came through--the one he was going to break in through.
"good to know."
"have you taken enough pictures?" harry asks, "i haven't been blinded by any flash yet."
"no one's taking pictures of you," peter says, dryly. "i'm not even sure what jameson wants. i've got a couple of shots of the chandelier, just in case."
"get a picture of senator jenkins laughing with captain stacey and you're golden," you tell him, looking over to the pair.
harry laughs. "or you could get a picture of us, and make it the cover."
peter nods, moving a step back. "good idea." he gestures for the two of you to get closer together, holding his camera up.
he watches as harry wraps his arm around your waist, and as your natural smile turns into something of a performance.
still beautiful, though.
"so, how do you know each other?" peter asks, just as he snaps a shot. he takes another step back, adjusting his settings.
"she worked for me," harry says, putting on his perfect rich-boy smile.
peter raises a brow.
"i was his assistant."
your words are overly enunciated and you sneak a look over to harry, like you're checking to see if he noticed something.
peter snorts. "i'd expect nothing less from you, harry."
"what?" he defends, rolling his eyes. "was i supposed to ignore her?"
he says it like it shouldn't be possible.
peter smiles. takes another shot, not caring how it turns out. he tries to get harry's sneakers and your high heels together.
"and now?" peter continues, letting go of his camera and taking a step toward the two of you, sure that it's time to leave.
"i work for a legal office now. apparently dating your boss is a 'conflict of interest.'"
"i can't imagine why," peter responds, eyes flashing.
you laugh.
and then someone calls harry's name, and peter blinks, looking away from you and over to his friend.
"good to see you, peter. call me sometime, we'll get together." harry offers his hand again like they're making a business deal.
but peter shakes it anyway, nodding.
"it was nice to meet you," he says to you and watches as you and harry walk away, arm in arm.
he listens to two synchronized footsteps, but swears he can hear a stutter in there somewhere. just one moment where something has fallen apart.
and then it's gone, and you look over your shoulder locking eyes with him.
a storm flashing beneath the smile you send his way, gone as soon as it appeared.
when you're out of his sight peter is back to standing in the middle of his room, watching the shoes of people he doesn't care to pay attention to.

ive been neglecting my inbox so im answering all the asks rn. sorry...if you’ve been waiting for a response.
Tumblr media
yes go ahead!! Also ik it is hard to access my FAQ from the app but btw this is in my FAQ its very comprehensive because I get this type of ask a lot LOL. dw it’s not annoying though its easy to answer and I’m glad ppl like my art enough to use it and also care abt crediting!! its in my faq not because i dont like to answer but more so u guys dont need to ask LOL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
thank you!! I dont see much infinity train content ever either. when i was making infinity train fanart everyday i felt like i was on an island LOL...
Tumblr media
honestly I feel like cahiers are decent with posca because theyre not really absorbent and posca marks tend to sit on the page as opposed to soaking through anyways. umm i wouldnt like... use it to do a whole posca piece or anything but i use poscas just for pops of color in my sketchbook pretty often and it holds up ok. sometimes u can see the shadow of the color through the paper bc its thin but thats mostly it. i took pics of some sketchbook pgs and how the back of the page looks so you can see for yourself ( cw for bakudeku LOL ) ...theres a lot of like.. normal brush pen ink and india ink that penetrates the paper more like even compared to the black posca
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
thank you!!!! I love drawing assorted cephalopods... their proportions remind me of drawing digimon characters LOL.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
not right now u_u I’m busy.... but you can always email me at [email protected] to check abt it! sometimes i will do commissions even if im busy because it sounds cool LOL...
Tumblr media
lol thank you!! idk if i ship(?) them either but its interesting to think about!!! theyre funny characters to bonk together and i feel like most fanart ive seen doesnt address how funny their relationship could be if it were more exploratory i guess
Tumblr media
yk that scene is kind of a meme now but it like genuinely still makes me emotional. when colette makes lloyd promise not to tell the others at the end it breaks my heart
Tumblr media
yeah here you go
Tumblr media
I feel like I’ve probably talked about this before in another ask post but i dont really think about style because its one of those things that artists should try to change depending upon intention, what you’re drawing and what you want to communicate etc. what people often recognize as style are quirks that an artist maintains throughout changing their subject and approach.....ANYWAYS. thats all to say my style probably just comes out of normal stuff like looking at other art and thinking “I want to do that” or trying out different mediums and methods and settling with whatever feels the best LOL. It’s always changing & growing! Because I’m always learning new stuff!
Tumblr media
Theres a lot! I really like the scene when daisukes lying awake in bed thinking abt how ken’s heartbeat felt. And the scene when they have a sleepover and ken wakes up first and looks over to daisuke sleeping LOL idk subtle stuff you can read very clearly as like burgeoning queer moments.. theyre recognizable from my own queer childhood and i love that in a kids anime. also at the end of the series when theyre fighting the final boss dude and ken grabs daisukes arm to ask him to jogress but hes shivering and daisuke just turns to say “youre shaking....” and in revenge of diaboromon when ken goads daisuke into endurance running by taunting him about soccer LOL (jock romance). but one i rly want to mention is theres this youtube video about how ken and daisuke’s honorifics change over the course of the series and how significant it is when they switch over to first name basis and honestly i think about it a lot THEY HAVE GREAT SCENES!! I love ken and daisuke
Tumblr media
wow!! thats rad... the sad truth is its just my name with like a shitton of letters taken out. sometimes i abbreviate it even further as mrz and i think to myself haha ... mister z.

Shared Loneliness
Stranger Things Fic,  Henry/Peter centered. Set mainly  at Hawkins Lab ontheyear prior to the massacre.
In which there's a Nineteenth Subject and another new investigation taking place at Hawkins Lab and Henry (known as Peter Ballad the Friendly Orderly) forges an unlikely bond that might just about restore his faith in humanity. Might.
Warnings: child neglect/mentions of physical and emotional abuse. Other than that it's fluff. No smut, non-romantic relationship between the main characters.
Disclimer: If I owned the show it would be very different. So I can only take credit for the character of Nina and my take on these events.
Tumblr media
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter One: The Understanding
They called it The Nina Project. Henry, or whatever was left of him, found it incredibly fitting. He knew why Papa named it like that. Nina Kulagina and the opera she inspired. But that wasn’t the Nina it was really named after.
It was his Nina.  The one person he had truly failed. His one true regret. The sole error he wishes he could mend.
She wasn’t a year old; just a child who hadn’t wronged anybody despite only being wronged by everybody else. The epitome of innocence.
If only he could turn the needles of his clock and reverse time. Butwhat would he change? Would he really sacrifice himself and keep his soteria so she could be free? Would he allow her to perish out of mercy?
Would it really be any different if she had never existed at all?
He always had these questions somewhere in the back of his mind. Eversince the day of her birth-- well, not birth.
Delivery.
“It’s been a success!” Martin Brenner had announced, on the morning of September 22nd, 1978. He was dressed in a medical scrub and had the proud smile of a scientist having just made a revolutionary discovery. “As of today, we have Nineteen subjects.”
Another subject? No one had told them there would be a new subject. He looked at Mark, the orderly he shared this shift with, to see him just as shocked.
“Did you know, Peter?”
“No, I did not.”
“I knew they were working long hours upstairs but I thought it would be a new machine for the tests.”
Upstairs referred to the top floor of the Hawkins Laboratory, which was where all the proper, delicate experiments took place. It made sense for it to be a new machine of some sort since the power had been coming and going continuously during the previous hour.
“One would think eighteen kids would be enough.”
“One kid would have been enough,” mumbled Peter through gritted teeth.
He later learned that Nineteen wasn’t conceived like the others. She had never known a mother or a womb, other than a recipient upstairs.
“We made it, Dr. Parker,” he’d overheard him say as he passed his office. “Yes, they are already manifesting. Mainly elektrokinesis thus far…”
He would often remember those words, ‘we made it’, and have an overwhelming strike of sadness. That subject, that child, hadn’t even been conceived but  produced, forged, fabricated. And she hadn’t been born, either. Instead she had been delivered, extracted. Made. Whereas he and the other children had at least got to spend nine months with their mothers, however unsettling those conditions were. Nineteen wouldn’t have anything to take solace on.
Maybe that will makeit easier, he thought. Maybe not having anything to compare it with, no one to miss, will assist in her adaptation, make her stronger…
His train of thought was abruptly interrupted by the split second of complete darkness accompanied by echoing screams across the hallway he was mopping. The emergency lights soon came on, dying the hallways red.
“Peter, check on the kids,” someone said. Maybe it was his own conscience reminding him of his duties. He was gonna check on the kids, of course, he just had to take a peak first.
He peered through the door’s window. A fellow orderly, Jason, was storming out the first door on the left, blood streaming down his right eye. He heard shattering glass anda cry higher than any other. Only then he understood it was in the  nursery.
He knew he had to go before being seen but it was hard to look away from the chaos.  Electrokinesis. He had a shiver down his spine. Excitement? Why?
He eventually did go checking on the rest of the kids. Most were in their beds, undisturbed. Only Eleven was awake.
“I heard a noise.”
“Nothing to be worried about.”
“Why is the hallway red?”
“The power is out but they are working on it. Just go back to sleep.”
She laid back down and he closed the door.
The power was still gone the following morning as he led the kids to the dining room. On their way to theRainbow room they heard a drill from behind the doors of the hallway.
“What is that?” asked Six.
“Nothing you have to worry about, children.”
He had his shifts with Mark again that morning.
“Did you see it?”
“See what?”
“Jason lost an eye. He’s at the infirmary.”
“What happened?”
“Is the new subject, her abilities must  have something to do with the lights  or whatever. She cried so loud during the tattoo that all the bulbs in the nursery exploded.”
Wow. “So that was the blackout.”
“Yeah. I think Brenner’s having some kind of fort built in there, man. Nurse Callie told me he freaked out last night”
Too much to handle. Serves them well.
“So much for the next generation.”
Oh right. So that’s what it was about. He was aware, like most of the staff, about the rumors of Brenner’s plans to start a new generation of subjects with improved abilities. Carved from a different stone, as he said.
Peter understood now. This generation was to be produced, made entirely in the lab. Replacing the womb for a jar and an incubator and subsequently sparing all problems and investigations from people like Terry Ives.
He had been locked away for killing his hypocritical family but Brenner was a genius for setting up a factory where psychic babies would be mass-produced then used as weapons. How deeply unjust and disturbing was that?
On top of that, the story was repeating itself. People like Martin Brenner thought they could simply rise above their past mistakes, regardless of how big they had been. Their arrogance fooled into believing there was no lesson to be learn, that they had control. But they were wrong. Now there was a child with too much power and a total lack of understanding of it. Their solution? Cage her, seal her away, like a wild beast. And eventually, cut her neck open and implant a soteria on her. Then move on to the next subject, try again, best of luck. You can always use an extra pair of hands in the laundry room if it’s unsuccessful.
It made him livid, or as close as he could feel to it.
Over the following week he learnt that the subject was kept inside the new acrylic cot, made of a special kind of glassthat bended instead of cracking. Nothing could penetrate it, so the outside world was unaffected by whatever could happen inside.
Only the minimum and strictly necessary contact was to be had with the child, with protective gloves and through the lateral holes, never lifting the upper lid of the crib. It reminded Peter of the solitary confinement in psychiatric hospitals and prisons. Just the thought of it made his stomach turn.
He wasn’t surprised to hear the child spent most of her days squalling at the top of her lungs, only giving the guards’ ears some rest when exhaustion won her over for a few hours at a time. How lonely it must be, even for someone unfamiliarized with the concept of company.
He himself had some comforting memories from his childhood, before he became aware of the truth behind his parents' masks. Memories of warmth, being carried in his mothers arms, holding his sister's hand as they ran around the backyard, being lifted up his fathers’ shoulders to see his first fireworks on the 4th of July. Now the meant little to him but they did use to bring him some sort of comfort against the unfamiliar coldness of the lab.
He felt for her. The knowledge of what was going on behind those doors kept him awake. Maybe because, in a way, he was partly responsible. He had been the first. Without him, these atrocities would have never been committed. It wasn’t his fault but not even he was heartless enough to ignore the stinger of guilt that struck him whenever a new subject entered the program, or a punishment was being implemented.
On the sixth evening, Eleven asked him about the strange noises coming from the next hallway.
“Papa says it’s a surprise. But it’s scary.”
“If it’s a surprise it’s not my place to spoil it.”
“I hope it’s not another kitten.”
Peter could only shrug.
Truth was curiosity was also taking him over. What could be so bad.
He passed his room and opened the doors to the opposite hallway. The guard outside was asleep with his earmuffs on. He gently took a hold of his card and let himself in. There was no one inside.
The cot was in the middle of the room surrounded by machines and wires coming in and out of it. He approached cautiously. Subject Nineteen was squirming stoplessly, face strained and soaked in tears. She wasn’t larger than his hand.
"Hello little one. I'm Peter and I have a proposition for you, hm? Let's see if we can get to an understanding, you and I."
He disconnected the tubes and machines and unlocked the glass, paying no attention to the lights starting to flicker in irregular patterns. He concentrated on carefully- sliding one hand below her lower back and the other beneath her head. She was warm and soft to the touch.
"Hush now, here we go. Here we go." He lifted her up and examined her up-close for a moment.
The poor thing was an absolute wreck and there was no doubt the stories were true. She definitely looked like she'd been crying fifteen hours a day for the last week. It was also evident she was getting insufficient sleep, since despite her persistent cries her throat was visibly sore and swollen and she fidgeted drowsily. There was also a trail of dry blood coming out of her nose all the way down her onesie.
"You poor, poor little thing,” he muttered, slowly bringing her to rest against his shoulder.
He felt her stiffening and guessed this must be confusing to someone who had spent their entire existence inside acrylic containers.
"Hush, I know, I know. You thought loneliness was all there was, uh?" he let his thumb stroke her soft skull. "Well, welcome to the other side."
He stood there, upper body swaying ever so slightly, not wanting to give her motion sickness after so much time still. He held her close enough to let her know she was safe but allowing her to move should she wish to do so. He knew he had to be patient, that she would understand it soon enough. Her need for an emotional anchor would surpass her current confusion and her tears would stop falling.
After a while he started to feel her heartbeat slowing down through the layers of clothing and skin between them. Her cries also faded gradually until the only thing he heard was her laborious uneven breathing.
"There you are, all better, hm?" he whispered, once all the lights had steadied. "You just needed some proper company. A little perspective, is that right?"
Growing confident he moved her into the crook of his right arm and reached for the soft rag on his pocket, wiping the crusts that had formed around her eyes and the blood threatening to clog her nose.
"There's a pretty face," he mumbled once he was done.
They locked their eyes together and something happened. An agreement. A mutual understanding of each other. A shared loneliness. The start of a companionship, perhaps a friendship. He couldn't translate it into mere words, it transcended them.
A gentle squeeze on the tip of his thumb brought him back to reality. "Hello again, little miss. Yes, it's very nice to meet you." He took notice of the small smile that had conquered his features and became aware that, to his surprise, it was the first genuine reaction he'd had in years.
She seemed to have found peace in his arms and to believe that if she kept a tight enough grasp on his finger there was nowhere he could go. He found he wouldn't mind if time stopped and kept them both in that moment forever. But of course he knew it didn't work that way.
He knew very well that he was being observed through the security camera and that he would have a lot to answer for whenever Papa decided to irrupt and disrupt their bubble. But he thought he might enjoy it while it lasted.
He kept swaying on the spot, watching her eyelids get heavy with each blink until they stopped trying to open and continued for a while after that, until the bubble burst with the door clicking open.
"Hello, Peter," his voice was perfectly neutral and professional. "What a surprise to find you here. Especially when you were meant to be on bedtime duty."
He sighed and also adopted a perfectly neutral and professional voice as he turned around. "I am, sir. That's why I thought I would tuck this one in as well."
"I see. And while you've had an... Unprecedented success, you know you have disobeyed direct orders to not extract the subject from the cot. You almost provoke another blackout which could severely damage the facility and our progress in the current investigation."
"None of that happened, sir."
"Fortunately for you, yes. However the outcome does not justify the means so you must return the subject to her designated space and follow me."
He felt his arms tightening around the infant but knew better than to argue. So he paced back to the bassinet and carefully placed the tubes on her nostrils before sealing the glass, holding his breath when she stirred. She didn't wake up, however.
"Please do follow me, Peter." Papa's voice commanded.
He walked to him and took one last glance at the child as the door closed.
"That was impressive, Peter, I'll give you that."
"I was just trying to help."
"And what made you think it was required?"
"Lucky guess," he said, struggling to keep his teeth from gritting.
"As I was saying... Very, very impressive." Brenner stopped at a door and unlocked it, beckoning him to enter. "After you."
He had been there many times. It was the interrogation room, the psychological torture chamber. Conveniently soundproofed, it was also used to implement physical tactics, as they were called.
Nobody could be certain what would happen once the door was closed.

Being Sorlato’s child + Being babysat by La squadra
A/N: Soooo, this is a direct sequel from the one-shot “Encounter” if you haven’t read it yet, feel free to browse it here
Genre: Fluff, platonic, wholesome headcanons
- After the encounter, the couple found themselves thinking about it all the time, how different they acted to a child at the face of danger, and how afraid they were and how quick they were to act upon instinct and save you. There was certainly something the couple felt in their chest they can’t fathom but somehow liked the pleasant feeling.
- One time Sorbet was found lounging around the La Squadra headquarters with a pamphlet regarding parenting whilst waiting for the meeting. When asked why he was reading that he nonchalantly replies that the thing was lying around and decided to read it because, “Why not?” One knows not to question him any further, so they let him be.
- Gelato was found longingly staring at parents with their kids on the playground whilst on a mission and again, no one dared to speak a word of it. He didn’t leave even if the mission was over, until Sorbet was called in and had to physically drag him away.
- They both knew it was getting out of hand because all they can think of now was wanting to raise a child of their own but they knew their circumstance were the least ideal to put a child in. For crying out loud, they kill people for a living and they didn’t really want to subject a child into this mess of their’s.
- “God, is this what baby fever feels like?”
- The couple has discussed about this, over and over than they can recall. When Gelato would suddenly mention, “You know, if we were to have a son I think that you can teach him how to ride a bike. That’d be sweet to watch to be honest.” or Sorbet saying, “If we were to have a daughter, I get to threaten her boyfriend to bring her back home before dinner.”
- Once again, they were out to go on their once a week date all to their selves and decided to go to the same restaurant they had to stop in to save the child. And on their way their, what are the odds, the aforementioned child coming up to them and greeting them.
“Ciao signore Sorbet! Signore Gelato!”
W-was this a sign???
"Ahh, Y/N!" Gelato was practically enthusiastic, he can just pick you up, but of course, he has to bind himself down.
"Out in the middle of the night again, I see." Sorbet points out.
"Aheh, yes sir..." You sheepishly responded. "But I really have to do everything if I want to graduate elementary with high marks."
 - After a brief chat, weather, school and whatnot, once again you went on with your merry little way. After that, it was back for longing and yearning for the couple.
 - The rest of La Squadra noticed this, but didn't knew how to help; until Melone picked up on the signs the couple were exuding: Sorbet reading the parenting pamphlet, Gelato longingly gazing towards parents bonding with their children, the two of them talking away about 'If we were to have a child...'— why, Melone's diagnosis: Baby fever.
 - Melone somehow came up with an elaborate scheme involving an orphanage, did a couple of research. Due to some... Fortunate moment, somehow, someway, the figure running the same orphanage you resided in has made quite the list of enemies all his years.
"Melone you know that you can just tell them it's okay for them to adopt the child, right???" Risotto looks up from the detailed, complex document sent in by Babyface's user.
 - Yes, it was stupidly complicated and a lot of work compared to just simply signing papers and adopting the child. The paperwork would be, again, stupidly complicated, but at least it doesn't involve bloodshed. It's not like the couple shied away from shedding blood but that wasn't the point.
 - Capo Risotto had to consider their circumstances to adopt a child. Like I said, the dilemma was killing them and simply can't act out of selfishness and adopt a child just because they wanted to, it wasn't the same as a adopting a pet.
 - Cue the four hour meeting with the couple, discussing about what they can do and what they cannot do. Risotto was most certainly happy for the two of them to be adopting a child of their own, taking care of them and along of those lines but again, the fact they are a part of a crime syndicate and there were a lot of things they discussed about.
 - After that, everything was settled and got started with the process of adopting the child. They didn't have to chose, they already had their eyes set on a specific kid; Y/N L/N, age eleven, abandoned by their parents when they were born, who adores reading and loves (insert food) and— what? They've done their research!
 - The couple was just beyond elated!
 - Through the process of adopting you they learned you were six
 - Now that fact was uncovered, they were now more concerned and pissed why the orphanage would neglect a first grader and let them return from school at eight in the evening. And the fact that they met you under the circumstance of danger, pretending to be the couple's kid in desperation.
 - Needless to say, a lot of things are going to change in your life, especially at the aspect of your security. They are a part of those people you should fear at night, admittedly gelato has almost pulled a gun on you that fateful night out of sheer jealousy, and didn't even register the fact you were barely half Sorbet's height.
 - First and foremost, you won't be staying in school longer than six thirty, as the couple takes turn on picking you up. They understand and adore the fact you're a hardworking kid thriving to have a scholarship in college despite being a literal first grader, but being a little kid walking alone in the middle of an evening is frightfully concerning. And in those times wherein either sorbet or Gelato picks you up, they'd buy you treats you want but not enough to spoil your appetite for dinner.
- You did not hesitate to address them the way you addressed them that one fateful night when they tucked you in your new room for the very first time.. Gelato cried after that and Sorbet had to hold him to his chest to clam him down. Ugh, you were so effortless at making the two of them so soft.
 - They're underpaid, not broke, so the couple spoils you in an overwhelming rate, the entirety of La Squadra were beginning to get concerned. Proscuitto scolded the two that they might spoil you rotten, but they reassured them you weren't.
 - Speaking of La Squadra, the couple considered them as their family. Sorbet and Gelato did not hesitate to introduce you to them not as La Squadra, but as your uncles.
 - All of them were touched that Sorbet and Gelato want them to be a part of their child's life, that one of them would often volunteer to watch over you if the two were away. The couple were not going to introduce you to them as assassins and took advantage of your gullible nature as a young child. they don't intend to hide it as a secret from you. Perhaps someday they'll tell you their line of career, but six was not the right age to do so.
 - Which brings us to their circumstances, the fact that they're assassins and how it is not an ideal career for people who has an attachment outside of their jobs. They were extremely careful in terms of that, wanting to protect and prevent others from using you against the couple. Well, now there's now a fate worse than death if ever that happens.
 - With new responsibilities, Risotto understood them and gave them less jobs in order to take care and watch over you. But there were times where the two were both absent, prompting one of La Squadra to babysit you.
- Melone, Formaggio and Proscuitto are top picks for babysitting duties! but, of course, there are disadvantages. Melone is... Melone. Formaggio can and will act as a kid rather than an adult. And Proscuitto, well, he can be a bit too domineering. So yes, they are A-tier babysitters, nonetheless.
 - B-tier babysitters would be Illuso, Pesci, and Ghiaccio. Illuso can be a bit too dismissive, Pesci will be too anxious and overprotective-- like in an extreme rate, and Ghiaccio... Hide your copy of Merchant of Venice, and you'll live another day.
 - S-tier would be Risotto, except the fact that he is always busy. He is good with kids and he can guarantee their safety, I mean, need I say more?
 - Under no circumstances, are they allowed to swear around you. The couple already had restricted their foul language around you, and they expect the others to do so as well. Ghiaccio is highkey sweating when you started saying bullshit whenever you're frustrated. He profusely begged you not to day that again in exchange for ice cream.
“Bullshit!” Ghiaccio’s heart skipped a beat after hearing your small voice whisper-shout on the dinner table as you attempted to solve a rather difficult math problem.
 - Your relationship with them was well. They were protective of you, love you and support you. They're very affectionate, but not in an overwhelming amount... Well, at least they try to hold back but all they want to do is to spend time with their baby and love them unconditionally, as they should.
 - Padre Gelato is more of a fun dad, very playful and energetic. He likes lifting you up to his hip before gently nuzzling his nose against yours. Dad jokes subconsciously slips from his mouth, be careful. He does a lot of cool tricks with his butterfly knife, twirling the sharp blade around while you stare in awe, whilst Papa Sorbet was more concerned that he'll accidentally cut himself, or that you might try the trick unsupervised. Needless to say, Padre was responsible enough to keep his knife in his pocket at all times to prevent that.
“When will you teach me how to do that, Papa?”
“When your old enough, N/N.”
 - Papa Sorbet is a bit more reserved, but certainly not distant. He will not hesitate to kill someone who tries to hurt you. So he's the perfect person to serve as your teacher, as he helps you with school work and help you learn other practical things: cooking, baking, doing laundry by hand (which product is more effective to get blood off clothes), self-defense, etc.
“So if there’s a stranger following you, what do you do?”
“Cling to the nearest person I see and pretend that I know them?”
 - They both tuck you into bed after reading you a bed time story, though it only lasted until you were nine because you insisted you were already grown up (cue, Gelato hiding his face on Sorbet's chest because his baby is all grown up--), but some things don't change because by bed time, they just check up on you even if they won't tuck you in to sleep.
 - Extremely supportive and encouraging. Like, they're basically the gasoline you pour on fire to intensify the fire of your passion. Like, they'll cheer you on sport games and competitions, tries their best to attend recitals, etc, etc. Though sometimes one is missing due to missions, sometimes both, but in the end of the day, you were confident that they would have loved it.
 - Unbeknownst to you, at the end of the competition, a certain figure will come behind you and lock you on a headlock before harshly rubbing their knuckle atop your head. Uncle Formaggio can be a mean sometimes. So yes, if ever the couple is absent from your competitions, one of your uncles would volunteer to go.
“‘Sup, little sport?”
“Uncle Formaggio, my hair--!”
 - The first time you celebrated your birthday with your new parents was your seventh. They wanted to throw a goshdarn ball, but you insisted to keep the party amongst yourself. Just you, your papa and padre, and your  seven weird uncles. You were already a big family, and you were happy with that.

Road Trip
"On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair"  He sang with the radio. He couldn't be more off-key if he tried.  As the song went on he fumbled and mumbled half the words.  "da da Hoooteeel California"
Beast Boy found himself looking out a windshield. He was in a car, traveling on a highway heading north. It was either very late or ungodly early. Rain was lightly falling on the windshield and save for the headlights and the occasional street lamp it was pitch black. His head was resting against the passenger window. He sat up in the seat, straitening his back trying to remember where he was and what was going on.
"There he is!" The driver says. "You've been out for almost 300 miles, you missed me doing a heartbreaking rendition of Margaritaville about an hour ago. I might have missed my calling."
Beast Boy turned to see a skinny but older man in the driver's seat. He had shaggy blond hair that was months overdue for a trim, and was graying around the temples. When the street lights passed through the windows, he could see he had grey-blue eyes behind chrome wire-rimmed glasses. He must not have shaved for the last few days. The driver's voice was friendly and familiar but Beast Boy couldn’t place it.
The driver arched his back in his seat, stretching tired muscles. "Aggh, I am fading.  Don’t get old Gar, trust me. You ready to switch?"
Beast Boy just sat there staring at him as the music ended and the driver turned down the radio.
"Gar, you still asleep?"  He asked glancing at him before turning his attention back to the road. "Will stop for gas soon, I will buy you a cup of coffee. Three sugars right?"
"Um, Yea." Beast Boy didn’t know what to say which was new for him. He knew the driver and the driver knew him or at least knew him well enough to know how he likes his coffee. He just couldn’t pull the name from his mind. This man was important, he was safe with him but at that moment he would love to see his driver's license.
"If you pay a few more bucks for the good stuff you don’t need all that sugar. There used to be a little coffee place near the university, they roasted their own beans. I will take you, If it is still there it's been almost 20 years."
"What time is it?" Beast Boy asked.
"Well it's too early for breakfast and too late for dinner " He replied with a smile "but we’re making good time."
Beast Boy knew he had heard that expression before. In fact he was sure that he had used the expression before.  But before he could think too much about it.
"Please thank Raven for me," he said.  "You found a good one Gar,  It's not many women that would be okay with this.  I mean especially with a little on the way. " He flipped the turn signal and started merging to the right. "I just hate planes. I think it's worth it taking 14 hours to get someplace if it means I get to pick what and when I eat and I am not stuck in a metal tube with no leg room."
"I guess I am lucky I can fly myself " Beast Boy responded then in unison they both said.
"But boy do your/my arms get tired!"
They both started laughing at the very old humor.
"So when is Raven due again?" the driver asked
"Late September."
"So that means you and Raven got frisky right around New Year’s or the Christmas party?
"HEY!?"  He responded he could feel the blood rush up his neck.
"Oh, what?!"  The driver expounded.  "I am one of the foremost experts in primate biology, also I used to be 22 with a hot wife. " He laughed to himself. "You going to tell me that you and Raven go out and save the world, then go home and play Jenga?"
Beast Boy just retreated a bit in embarrassment leaning back against the door.
"You know you should keep it up, it can help with a lot of the pregnancy symptoms. The stress management and blood pressure benefits alone-"
"I do not want to talk about this!"
"Okay. Okay, changing the subject. Have you settled on names yet?" He started again not letting this conversation end.  "I know its tradition to name the firstborn son after the Mother's father but I doubt you're going to do that!"
"Yea that’s a no."  "We were thinking of Marie for a girl."
"Your mother would love that."
The exit came up and the driver pulled off the highway into a gas station. He turned off the car and tossed Beast Boy the keys.  "Okay throw $20 in it, I will get the coffee and you one of those peanut butter jobs if you don’t tell your mother I am getting one too. She worries"
"Dad?!"
"Yea?" he said looking at his son straight on.
Beast Boy really saw him for the first time with the car's dome light.
"Your dead."
Mark Logan heard that statement and mentally weighed it, after a moment. He said with a smile that Beast Boy had only seen in old photos. "Yea, but I am still around."
The door slammed.
Beast Boy shot up in bed and then tumbled out of it onto the floor, taking the covers with him.  He pushed himself up onto his hands and knees trying to get a hold of reality.
"eg Gar are you okay?" Raven struggled a bit to sit up in bed. She wrapped her arms around herself. "And may I have the blanket back?"
Beast Boy got up, gathered the covers, and made the bed over his pregnant wife.  As he tucked her in he told her about the dream.
"Are you okay? She asked laying on her side looking up at him.
"Yea, I mean it was weird but it was just a dream."  he said not sure if he was buying that himself.
"Was it?"
"Rae? Are you saying that was real?”
"Gar, we have seen so much, different dimensions, time travel, different levels of existence. We have been to so many places and met beings that can use reality as a plaything. it wouldn’t be  unheard of that you were visited." she said just before a long yawn.
"Really?"
"No." she put a small but sympathetic smile on her sleepy face. A pale hand slipped out of the blankets to take his. "We have talked about this before Gar. I know you are-"
"Scared shitless"
"Apprehensive." she corrected "But I know you are going to be a good father. I know you wish your parents were here to help, but we have family and we are going to be okay."
"Yea I know Rae, there is just so much I wish I could ask."
"We will figure it out. Try to relax we have a big day tomorrow. Now come to bed, you neglecting your duties as my personal bed warmer."
He kissed her hand before letting it disappear back under the blanket.  "Okay, I will be there in a minute," he said before walking off.
Beast Boy looked flipped on the bathroom light and went to the sink.  He splashed some water on his face a few times and ran his wet fingers through his hair.  He straightened up and looked in the mirror, when he saw his face he jumped back a bit.
He slowly touched his face, making sure that the person in the glass was doing the same. Somehow he had missed it. He would look at himself every day, and see the goofy kid he was when he joined the Titans. That night he looked in the mirror and saw his father. His skin, eyes, and hair were still green but his chin, and nose, even the barely controlled chaos of his hair was the same as his Dad's.
Maybe Rae was right. Could it be he was trying to tell himself something? Could it be that in the vastness of creation and all of the unknown his father did visit him? Could it be that he just saw the Lion King too many times?
He took a few deep breaths and headed back to bed.  He found his wife where he left her lying on her side, the blankets pulled tight around her.  He carefully climbed into bed kissing Raven's head.  But before he settled in he leaned over to whisper to his wife's belly.  "Grandpa says hello, and he loves you."
***************************
This story has been with me for a bit.  My father passed a year ago this month. We didn't see eye to eye about many things as I got older.  When I do remember when we did get along it was when we were on the road together.  Long road trips going up and down I-95, where we could talk.  In the passenger seat is where my father would forget that I was his son and we could talk like two men.

Maybe We’re Not Meant To Be
Alpha Izuku x Omega Reader
Warning: Sexual Content Below
Word Count: 3.9K
Tumblr media
Two years of dating Izuku was no easy task. As sweet as the man is, he often blundered when it came to the love life (or the lack thereof) the two of you shared. No one questions his devotion to you. You’re cold? Midoriya will give you the shirt off his back. You’re hungry? Midoriya runs to the nearest store to grab you something (he doesn't care if it’s miles away). Two years of dating the most considerate person in the world yet, you selfishly yearned for more.
A mating mark; a silent reminder to onlookers that you were taken by one of the most eligible alphas in Japan. You wanted your skin to be marred by his long fangs and you wanted to leave your own mark on him. But after two years of waiting, it felt as though maybe he didn’t want to mark you.
‘Maybe we’re not meant to be.’
At first, you didn’t mind that Midoriya wasn't quick to ask to bound you; it showed that he cared about you rather than force himself on you for the rest of your life. It was nice to have him court you but, you’re getting older. You never wanted to admit that biology was correct but, you felt yourself slowly facing the realities.
It’s easy to push the want away, hiding it deep in your mind to only ponder over every once in a while. But, every once in a while becomes every day. It makes you wonder if there’s something wrong with you.
You watch as all of your friends start to show off their marks, they start to get married, one by one having pups. And, you’re there for all of it. Silently cheering everyone else on from the sideline but, awaiting your turn to race.
You’re quietly bitter. All you can think about is having mini versions of Midoriya and yourself running around. What would they look like? What would they smell like? Would they want to be heroes? Your desire to have a physical manifestation of your love to care for and nurture grew. It seems like the closest you’ll ever get to that dream is when you're around other people’s pups.
“Wow, Y/N! How did you get her to be that quiet?” Uraraka asks you with an amazed expression. She watched you cuddle her close to your chest, rocking her off to sleep after her latest tantrum. “You're such a natural.”
“Thank you. I've always loved kids,” you're mesmerised by the rise and fall of the pups chest as she breathes. It’s nice having something so small depend on you.
“You’d make a great mom,” she doesn’t miss how you tense and, for the fleetest of moments, a scent of resentment seeps from your pores. Why should you have to sit and take care of someone else’s baby when you want one? “I’m sorry if I said something wrong.”
“No, no, you’re fine. I was just thinking,” you put the sleeping pup down to its duvet. “I want one. I want what you have so bad it hurts.”
“Why don’t you talk to Deku? I’m sure he’d love to have a baby with you,” she smiles to push your hurt away but, it only makes you grimace eternally.
“For us to talk, he’d have to be home for more than thirty minutes before he crashes out in bed,” that ends the conversation. You knew that dating a pro hero with ambitions like Izuku’s would be no walk in the park however, you didn't think it would be this hard.
You know he didn’t mean to but, Midoriya has inadvertently neglected you. First, it was forgetting date night due to the need to pursue a link to a villian. Then, it was forgetting your birthday to finish some paperwork. It seemed like something always popped up that Midoriya had to follow but, you couldn’t hold a grudge; he’s always been the type to help.
‘You knew what you were getting into when you chose to date him,’ you blamed yourself. You can't just expect him to change (and you grew bitter for that as well).
“Izuku,” you started across from him on the floor. He looked up at you with those dark green hues, giving you his full attention. “Izuku, why haven’t you marked me yet?”
“Y-Y/N, ahh you caught me off guard. I mean, do you want me to mark you?” he always does this; reverse the question when he doesn’t know the right answer.
“Izuku, I asked you a question,” you put your chopsticks down.
“Well, I don’t think I should bind myself to you,” cue the dramatic scent drop. “N-No it’s not you, it’s me. Okay, that sounds cliché but I just, I don't want to keep you from finding someone better.”
‘THERE ISN’T ANYONE BETTER THAN YOU,’ the words were stuck in your mouth. The conversation should have ended there but you were hurt.
“Y/N, please, say something. Are you mad?”
‘Yes.’ “No.”
“Are you sure? You haven’t take-”
“I’m fantastic. Just not as hungry as I thought I was. But, I’m glad you told me. Now, how was your day?” It hurts but your grin through it. The conversation shouldn’t end there but, you have no desire to see what other bullshit can leave the alpha’s mouth.
You know he doesn’t mean it in this way but, doesn’t that mean that Midoriya doesn’t see you as a life partner? Wouldn’t it be safe to say that he’d leave you if he found someone better? Weren’t you just wasting your time?
“Are you sure you’re okay? We can talk about it if you want,” he pauses to yawn. “Maybe, tomorrow though. It was such a long day. All Might was-“ ahh yes, All Might. You’re sure you know more about him than you do about Midoriya’s mother.
You feel unwanted, used, and taken advantage of. You do everything for him: cook, clean, support, help him with leads that stump him, drag him to bed, bandage him up. Yet, your efforts have only gotten you in a position where you’re positive Midoriya only keeps you around for entertainment. It’s a bad feeling.
But, you can’t bring yourself to pack your belongings and leave. Your inner Omega is intertwined with his,  even without the mating mark. She wants to be with him till the very end; till either one of you dies and the other soon follows into the afterlife.
But, the feelings just keep growing. They’re in the back of your mind as you kiss Izuku, they’re in the corner of your bedroom as you cuddle with him, they’re blaring in the car as you falsely laugh. So, you suppose it’s half your fault that things have gotten to the point that they currently are.
Today, you woke up in a particularly good mood. Midoriya had made your favorite breakfast and kissed you roughly before he left the house.
“I have a feeling something’s going to happen today; make sure to call me when you get to work and when you get home,” his lips pressed down on you almost urgently, making your insides quiver. “And, make sure you check your surroundings.”
“I will Izuku. I’ll see you later,” and he went out to save the world. You got dressed in some leggings and a blouse and headed off to your café. While it wasn’t the flashiest job for a person with a powerful quirk like yours, you loved watching the little pups pick out what they wanted. Occasionally, you could even pick them up.
“Hai, Y/N. I have some fresh scones waiting to be put out,” one of your workers greeted you. You h/c colored hair was pulled into a messy game, a few tendril framing your face. There was a low gust of air from the door behind you. Another mother with her pup.
You got to work helping wherever you could, throwing powder sugar at your workers whenever they were being too impatient; you have a knack for doing things slowly till you get them perfect.
“As to be expected of such an analytical quirk,” one of your best employees, Kagey, tells you.
“You’re just mad because I won’t allow you to rush my beautiful cakes,” you stick your tongue out at him.
“No, I’m mad because you’ve made me wait for ten minutes just so you could place those fucking cakes. And they’re placed crooked. I could’ve been over there serving that hottie. Look at himmmm,” Kagey shakes your shoulders while fawning over some unsuspecting soul.
“Ummm, you forget I have Izuku,” you raise one of your eyebrows.
“There’s no crime in looking. It’s not like you’ve got a mark,” you crack your neck. “Sorry, I forget that’s a sore subject for you. “
“It’s fine. And, who’s the poor victim you’re staring at this time,” he points to a man you’re well acquainted with: Monoma Neito.
His blonde hair is still light but he’s grown it to be a little above his shoulders. Those beady eyes that used to be rimming with anger and discontent are finally happy and playful. He’s filled out, body-wise, and you can tell he’s bulging with muscle.
‘Izuku’s better.’
“Damn, that glow hit him like a truck,” Kagey pushes your shoulders forward. “Okay, bitch, stop being pushy.”
“Ofcourse, you know a beefcake like that. Introduce me to him! I’d love to get my tongue on him,” you shudder with disgust at that mental image. “Don’t look like that. My men always leave me satisfied.”
“I didn’t know that was how people describe STI’s nowadays. I really am a Boomer now,” he smack you upside the head. “Okay, okay, I’m going. Just stop hitting me.”
You wander over to Monoma, trying to decide what’s the best way to approach him. You decide on being direct.
“Monoma,” he turns and his face lights up with recognition. “Hai, it’s been so long. Welcome to my shop”
“Y/N!? You own this place? I would’ve thought you’d want to be a hero. It’s good to see you,” he grabs your hand in his. His hands are warm, no doubt he’s probably feeling the strength of your quirk. He’s always been the handsy type. “You’re single? What happened to Izuku?”
“We’re still together. We’re just taking things slow,” you shrugged off his gaze. “Plenty of people do it.”
“So, no mark and no ring. You’re basically single,” you ruffle up and his tone. You had forgotten he can be as blunt as yourself, one of the main reasons you had been good friends.
“You could say that if that’s what you believe. But, this isn’t about me. My friend over there, Kagey,” you point your thumb over at the fool. “He wanted to know if you’d like to go on a date.”
“You and I both know I’m straight. But, I appreciate the offer,” Monoma raises his voice so Kagey can hear. You can hear muffled cursing about straight men behind you following his statement. “But, I’d love to take you out sometime this week.”
“I have Izuku.”
“Do you really? You know alphas are preconditioned to mark what they feel belongs to them. What does that say about you?” He knows exactly how to manipulate your mind.
“...when are you free?”
                                                         ***
You were shaking as you applied your makeup. Today was the day that you were going to go on a small date with Monoma. Nothing too serious; just an outing with a friend that just so happens to be an alpha.
Why were you shaking? Well, you hadn’t told Izuku about your plans. He normally gets home later in the night and you had planned on getting back from your date earlier than him. But, what if he found out? Well, it shouldn't matter, right?
He did tell you that you could find someone else (although, now as the moment was nearing, you started to doubt how serious he was when he told you). So, it shouldn’t be a big deal. It’s not like you were planning on running away with this alpha. But, would Izuku understand that?
‘He’s not even going to find out. No point in worrying about it,’ you hissed as you accidentally poked your eye with your makeup brush.
The soft material of the skirt stretched across your thighs as you paced through the halls. Were you really going to do this?
“Y/N, I’m home baby. I picked up some pizza for us,” you froze. Out of all the times for Izuku to come home early, he chose the day when you were going to converse with another alpha. You thought about trying to run back to the bedroom but he was already halfway to the kitchen and he would most likely hear you.
“Ohhhh that’s great. Really great,” you inched towards the couch to try to cover yourself in the pillows.
“Yeah, why are you covered in the pillows? Are you building a new nest here? Want me to go get my shirts?” You immediately felt guilty all over again. Here you were about to betray him and he’s being selfless.
“NOOO, no, just, stay right there,” you sink in further as you hoped he’d leave you alone. Unfortunately for you, Izuku doesn’t leave anything alone if he thinks something is wrong.
“What’s wrong, omega?” He gets closer and sniffs the air. “Are you wearing perfume?”
“Yeahhhh, wanted to try something new,” you avoid eye contact.
“Why aren’t you looking at me?”
“...”
“Omega, look at me please.”
“Izuku, I’m just not feeling well.”
“Look at me.”
You look at him with small tears in the corners of your eyes.
“Awww, omega. Are you okay? What’s wrong?” He starts to emit a soothing smell for you.
“Izuku, I have a-“ the doorbell interrupts you. You know it’s Monoma. You know you can’t get up to get the door. You know that you are fucked.
“I’ll get it. But, when they leave, we are talking about what’s wrong,” you gulp. You hear Midoriya open the door.
“Midoriya, it’s nice to see you. Is Y/N ready?” There’s the nail in the coffin.
“What do you mean?
“We have a date tonight.”
“No you fucking don’t.”
“Um, we do. I asked her out the other day at her café,” you hear silence till you hear the unmistakable sound of Izuku’s growl. The air becomes stiffling as his pheromones threaten to choke you to death. You cower in the pillows, listening to Izuku grab Monoma and pull him into the room. No matter how much he told you he’d be fine with you finding another alpha,  you should’ve known your actions would drive him feral.
“Why the fuck is he here?” Izuku snarled in your face. You were silently sobbing, ashamed of what your actions had caused. “FUCKING ANSWER ME, OMEGA.”
“Y-you’re the one that said you weren’t mating me in case I found someone better,” you pushed the pillow into his face as you stood to defend yourself. “Why are you so fucking mad? You drove me to this.”
“Don’t try to fucking blame me. You should have told me. So, you really want him?” You nodded your head to spite him. “No, you don’t. You just want to piss me off. Well, if that’s the objection, you accomplished your goal. Now, strip.”
“What?” The false confidence was wearing off.
“You wanted to make me mad and you did. You want a mating mark? I’ll give you one. Now, strip for your punishment,” you shakily point to Monoma that was wide-eyed in Izuku’s grip. “Yes, in front of him. He needs to see you belong to me since he’s clearly a visual learner.”
You slowly reach behind and unzip your skirt. You push the fabric down your legs to bunch at you ankles, step out of them, and shakily pull at the hem of your shirt. You lock eyes with Monoma as you pull it above your head. The air feels cold against your soft skin. You stand there in your bra and panties, awaiting Izuku’s next command.
“I said strip. Keep going,” you gulp.
“I should leave,” Izuku slams Monoma into a chair. He grips his shoulder so hard you can hear a small crack.
“Nahhhh, stay. I’m sure you knew she belonged to me but, this is a good reminder,” Izuku turns back to watch your breasts spill from your bra. Your nipples pebble from the attention you’re getting. You slip your panties down your legs, reaching for a pillow to cover yourself.
“No, show him what belongs to me. Turn around and bend over,” you slowly turn, placing your hands on the sofa behind you. You clench your legs together. You bend at the waist, hearing two sharp intakes of breath.
You stand there like an exhibit, slick pooling in between your legs. You’re sure they can see your nether lips glistening with arousal as well as the wall, your breasts hanging from the position.
“Look at how wet she is for me, Monoma. I bet you wish she was like that for you,” Izuku’s breath fans across your ass. His hands gently cups your waist, tugging you backwards so he can muzzle your ass crack. “Such a beautiful body. All mine.”
“IZUKU,” you scream out as he suddenly slaps your ass. It makes more slick fall between your legs but, it still stings as a punishment. “I’ll be good omega.”
“I know baby. You’re always such a good girl. You just need to be corrected. I’ve been giving you a little too much free reign. Wanted to be sensitive alpha. Wanted to give you time. No more of that,” you shivered at the promise. “Gonna give you exactly what you need.”
A tirade of smacks rain down on your behind, lighting up your backside. You yelp and try to pull away but are restrained by Izuku’s strong arms. He’s the one supporting your weight as you crash down against the couch, the front half of your body slumped down.
“Awww, is Omega tired? But, we’re just getting started,” from behind you, you can hear Monoma’a breathing get heavier. “Let’s give fuckface a good show baby.”
You’re about to question what he means when Izuku stands up, walks over, and rips the tie from Monoma’s neck. He walks back over to you, tying your arms together.
“I’m in control,” he says. You quiver when you hear Izuku’s knees hit the floor behind you. Only moments later his face is buried in your heat, lapping like a dog. It sounds so lewd to hear him slurp at your juices.
He starts off slowly kissing the backs of your thighs, gripping you by your ass cheeks as he pulls your globes apart. You feel exposed when he takes an exaggerated sniff. “I’ve missed this. Need to start being more attentive to my baby.”
He licks up and down your slit, lightly nibbling on your clit as he circles it, pulling it between his lips to give it a harsh suck. Your hole clenches around nothing as you moan and try to cant your hips into his face. Your efforts are rewarded with a warning smack.
“Just enjoy my tongue,” he positions you to be on your knees as he continues to eat you out. He first slips in one finger to the knuckle, reveling in the debauched groan that leaves your beautiful lips. Your lips are parted as drool rubs down the left side of your face. Your eyes go crossed eyed from Izuku slipping in another finger and curling them upwards, those two fingers touching that spongy texture inside of you. The perfect Ahegao face. A vision of wrecked.
“That’s it, cum all over my fingers,” he continues to finger fuck you through your orgasm, latching back onto your clit. You shiver from the overstimulation, wanting to run with nowhere to go. You’ve forgotten Monoma as you whimper.
“Zuku’ too much. Please,” you’re shaking as you bite into the sofa to mute your screams.
“Aht aht aht, I wanna hear you fucking moan for me. Let him know who’s making you feel this good,” he allows his lone hand to stroke your stomach, knowing that was one of your sweet spots.  You whine loudly as you cum once again, mascara running.
“Nooo more. Izuku. Please. Alpha,” you’re stuck there. Forced to take all the pleasure he gives you.
“I think you can give me more baby,” he removes himself from you as he unbuttoned his jeans. “Monoma, you wanna know something funny.”
“What?”
“I bet you thought you’d be the one to fuck her pretty pussy tonight,” Izuku laughs with no amusement behind the sound. “Never thought you’d be forced to watch.”
Izuku pushes his hard cock between your legs, smearing your juices across his shaft. He grabs his cock as he toys with your entrance, pushing the tip of his cock between your lips and groaning at the sight. Your pussy grips the tips in a vice, trying to suck him in further.
“Alpha, stop teasing me. Please. More. Give it to me.”
“I thought you couldn’t take anymore,” he teases.
“Pleaseeeee ohiuuhhh yess,” you throw your head back when you feel him push all the way in in one motion. Your toes curl as his cock strains against your walls, forcing you to take it all. He expertly pulls back and gives an experimental thrust.
“Look at that pussy, Monoma. Isn’t it nice? Too bad you’ll never get to feel my pussy,” he sets a bruising pace, never giving you a chance to recover. You hear your own whines mixed in with his pelvis slapping against your ass, your body rocking forward from the force of his body.
He wraps his hand around your neck, lifting your body so he can make you meet his thrusts. You’ve lost count of how many times you’ve cum around his cock but, you’re okay with being used like a cocksleeve.
“I’m gonna fuck my babies into your tight pussy. Gonna breed you,” you mewl. “Is that what you wanted? Pups?”
You nod as you cry, partly from the overstimulation but also from the emotional state you’ve been reduced to.
“I’ll give you as many pups as you want. Looks like I’ll have to fuck you out of your mind more to get you to talk to me,” he growls beside your side and he leans over you, crushing you beneath him as he pushes your body to scrunch beneath him, pounding you like he hated you.
“Are you gonna cum again,” you nod due to your raw throat. You’re clenching and the pleasure starts to build but, this time, it feels different. Your vision goes out as you spasm, stars coming across your eyes as you squirt all over his cock, making a mess on the cock bellow you. Your tightness pushes Izuku into his orgasm.
“Cum for me, Omega. Cum for your alpha,” you whine as you spasm but nothing comes out. He’s pushed you into a dry orgasm. You feel his hot spurts of cum enter your pussy, coating everywhere inside of you. His teeth sink into your neck, making you his forever.
“Izuku,” you whine.
“Feels good, omega?” You nod. He slowly pulls out from behind you, tapping your ass like a horse.
“Get the fuck out,” Monoma doesn’t have to be told twice as he runs out. Izuku grabs a few baby wipes from the kitchen and comes back to wipe your pussy.
“You’re mine. Never forget that.”

“The secrets of alchemy exist to transform mortals from a state of suffering and ignorance to a state of enlightenment and bliss.”
― Deepak Chopra
“He wishes he were a skilled poet, it would fit his chosen image perfectly; the poor, tragic, tortured artiste. But he has no talent for words, neither for paints nor music; his uselessness is tremendously total.”
― Curtis Ackie
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Being born the son of Goodwyn the Great, Cedric was destined to have unreachable expectations pushed onto him; his father’s blatant adoration for fame and glory had been clear to Cedric from an early age and, given he was the only son in his family, he knew that he would soon be groomed into his father’s perfect replacement for when he retired as the Royal Sorcerer.
The only problem that arose with that goal was that Cedric was only a child and was prone to making mistake after mistake. He knew he wasn’t perfect, no person is, but why did his father have to mention that fact so much?
It appeared that his father just couldn’t understand the notion that he was a conscience, feeling person though and decided to continue his crude actions anyway. No matter how much it hurt Cedric.
Unbothered by this fact though, his father set out on a mission to make Cedric’s life almost unbearable and filled to the brim with dread over the fact that he would probably never become the royal sorcerer or get the family wand. In Goodwyn’s eyes, Cedric was no more than a mistake that would never be worthy. And at this point, Cedric was starting to believe it.
The days he spent subjected to his father’s emotional neglect and constant taunting when he was tricked into messing up his spells had left him in an emotional limbo that he could not escape from. And who was he to not be affected by this tortuous treatment?
Soon he was counting down the days until he could get away from his toxic family in the castle and attend school at Hexley Hall.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
One upside to Goodwyn, in Cedric’s opinion, was that he was just as skilled a sorcerer that he claimed he was. Cedric wasn’t sure if this was something he should feel more exasperated about, but he knew that he couldn’t deny the fact.
No matter how much he desired to demonize his father.
He had the ability to travel almost anywhere in the span of minutes and that was very convenient to a kid who had a very short attention span. And although he couldn’t travel to vast distances, Goodwyn could certainly get to many places three times faster than others.
Which meant that Cedric could arrive at Hexley Hall faster than all of the other kids and have more time to explore his home for the next seven years.
In less than one hour, Cedric and his father had travelled from the Castle and made it to the gate of Hexley Hall. The clean exterior of the castle was only rivaled by the beautiful architecture that made it the prestigious academy it is.
Wasting no time leaving his father and rushing with his items to the front doors, Cedric was awe-struck by the fact that the inside was even more beautiful than the outside. Even inch of it was designed with a purpose and each piece of art was shown with pride and respect.
And when he saw the warm smiles of the teachers waiting in the hall, beckoning him in, Cedric knew that he could get used to his new home.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After being toured around the castle by one of the teachers, as well as given a brief run down of its history, Cedric was left to his own accord and given a map so he wouldn’t get lost. The map had an incantation that would show him his current location and bedroom, which he thought was very convenient. But he wasn’t surprised, he knew how lost kids could get without proper guidance.
Looking down at the map after reciting the spell, he found a glowing mark on where his assigned dorm was located. Ironically enough, his was located with the rest of the sorcerers, witches, wizards, and warlocks.
Dinner commenced shortly after introductions were made and, after a bout of awkward shuffling, he found a quiet location to eat and then began his trek to his new dormitory.
By chanting the wandless spell to the map once again, an arrow led to his room in the lower regions of the castle where he began to unpack his hefty luggage.
After neatly organizing all of his ingredients, clothes, and books he quickly laid himself down on the comfortable mattress and ran through the events of the day. Although he still hadn't met any friends yet, he was able to get away from his father and analyze the place he’d be living in for a portion of his teenage life.
Putting aside those thoughts, he curled into a fetal position and fell into the most blissful sleep he’s had in years.

Looks about right, Cedric thought to himself as he made his way down to the Great Hall for breakfast.
Being somewhat challenged by wand-based spells, Cedric was relieved to see that he had potions for his first class; it was the one subject that he excelled at and was something that used to calm the nerves created by his domineering father.
So he had no doubt that he would start his days off good with the way things looked on his schedule.
What if no one likes me enough to partner up with me though? he asked himself while ringing his wrists.
I guess I’ll just have to take it one step at a time….
With that thought in mind, he picked up his pace and quickly sat in a secluded spot. Looking around, he found that many people had already begun making friends. And, although this was a troubling notion given he had yet to meet anyone, he had hope that he would meet at leat (one) person that would approve of his company.
There has to be at least ONE person who will like me right? he questioned while gazing around the expansive room. Looking to the section where all the alchemy students sat, his eyes stopped on a girl with the most adorable (h/l) haircut and beautiful disposition.
Neptune’s Nettles they were gorgeous...Hopefully I share some classes with her. Blushing, he looked back down at his breakfast and waited until it was time to head to his first class session of the year.
--------------------------------------------------
Nice! Cedric thought. I’ve got the first pick of any seat in the class!
Looking around, he found a spot that felt just right; it wasn’t too far in the back and was just enough to be in the front and in a corner.
Smiling smugly, he sat down and began to unpack all the necessary items listed on the board in front of him.
Humming to himself, Cedric slowly stopped when he heard a series of footsteps approaching the classroom.
Thinking it was just the professor, given how early Cedric arrived, he kept his head down and decided to begin labelling the items in his journal.
That is, until he felt a tap on his shoulder. Whipping his head back, he stared dumbfounded at who was standing behind him: the girl from this morning!
Oh goodness, what if I’m sitting in the spot she wants?? What if she has some sort of beef with me already?? Oh dear, I’m gonna throw up..
This thought process continued until you let out a shy, "Do you mind if I sit next to you? I like the feel of this corner and you don't look half as bad as the rest of our class. Plus, I haven’t had much luck making friends."
OH, he thought, That’s not what I was expecting. Trailing his eyes to yours, he searched for any sign of this being a lie but couldn’t find any.
Softening his features, he opened his mouth and let out a:
"Really?....I suppose I don't mind."
He cautiously lifted his palm to you and said, "My names Cedric. I'm coming here to become one of the next Royal Sorcerers. What about you?"
With a firm grip, you shook his hand and settled down into your seat next to his. Watching you take out your schedule he heard you reply, "(y/n) Erwin! I'm studying to become the Royal Alchemist!"
Gripping your chin with an inquisitive look, you added a quick, "You wouldn't happen to be related to Goodyn the Great would you? I thought I recognized you at first, but I couldn't quite place from where…."
"Uhm….Yeah, I am. D-did you live at the castle as well?"
Analyzing you, he tried to remember times in which he would have seen you, but none came to mind. Which wasn’t surprising given he had all of his time stolen from either the prince or his father.
His thought process was halted though when you looked at him and said, "Yep. My dad's the Royal Astronomer, so we get to live with him at the castle…..I've seen you around you know….I always meant to say hi, but your dad and sister seemed to take up most of your time."
He rubbed his wrists anxiously and let out a, "yeah, they tend to do that…...but I digress. Do wanna compare schedules? I don't have any friends either, and y-you don't seem that bad as well…."
Looking down at the schedule you held loosely in your hand he noticed that it didn't seem so far off from his. You were both new to the school after all, so it made a tad bit of sense but luckily you both wouldn't have to split up very much for the next couple of years.

Surprisingly, it seemed as though you would be seeing a lot of each other. Which didn't seem to bother either of you that much. After confirming your new friendship and planning your day out together, you both set up the rest of your supplies and began your first class of the day.
----------------------
After cleaning up your respective area of the shared potions table when class ended, Cedric reminisced on how well the class had actually gone. Despite both of you being new, you and Cedric seemed to work in a sort of synchronized state. Even your teacher pointed out how good you two were together. This had made Cedric feel elated, it was the first praise he had gotten since leaving his father; that alone made him feel on top of the world. Even more so when he took into account that he gained a friend and intellectual equal.
Picking up the last of his mess, he gently put his bag over his shoulder and looked back to you waiting for him at the end of the desk.
You looked up and down and asked slowly, “Would you mind if I sat with you in our other classes as well today? I’m not really…..friends with anyone else here yet and we seem to make a good team. Plus, you seem really sweet.”
“I’d love to!,” he said in an excitable raised voice. His face broke out in a flustered blush at how desperate he sounded and quickly let out a, “I mean, if that’s what you want to do…”
To that, you chuckled and lightly punched his shoulder saying, “Of course I would you dork. Now let's hurry up so we can get the best seats in our next class."
--------------------------------------------------
After that day, the two of you were like two peas in a pod. Whenever you both had a class, were going somewhere, or ate, you were attached to the hip. Even teachers knew that, if they couldn’t find one of you, they wouldn’t find the other either as well.
For you two, there was never a subject left unstudied, never a prank left undone, and never a conversation left undiscussed.
It started off with you both teaming up in your shared classes, meeting for meals, and talking on the way to class, but soon branched off outside of school.
With coaching from you, and years of positive reinforcement on your end, Cedric had been coaxed out of his hesitant and neglected shell. All it took was one fond look and a caress of his hair from you and Cedric was turned into mush. The love you showed him through the years made him see that not everyone was out to get him. And not everyone was untrustworthy.
In summary, you brought hope in humanity back into his life. Something that he surely would have gone off the deep-end without.
To others, it seemed as though you had put him under a spell and transformed him into a new man; Cedric had never felt so confident in his life.
Especially since he never had anyone to support him. Until you, that is……
-------------------------------------------------------
Year 7 at Hexley Hall
Flicking your wand in a cursive “J” formation while pointing your wand at the painted black stone, Cedric watched as you whispered, “Avifors.”
Within seconds, the rock you had been pointing at morphed in size and began to take the shape of a sleek, black raven that immediately began pecking the tip of your index finger. It cocked its head at you and turned to inspect Cedric.
Cedric, gazing back at the bird, looked absolutely stunned at the sight of this seemingly never-heard-of spell and immediately began to shift his eyes to you and then raven. He wasn’t sure where you had learned that, since you were only taking alchemy classes, but he was beyond interested in knowing.
“Merlin’s Beard! Did you make that spell up all on your own?”
“Not exactly,” you chuckled, “My father and I worked for days to come up with the correct spell and paint concoction when I was a child. But it worked out, and now I have a way to create any type of bird to do my bidding!”
Setting his chin in his palm, he began to gaze fondly at the scene in front of him and think about all the things he has yet to learn about you.
“Would it be alright if you taught me that spell? I know it’s yours and everything….. but it’s too bloody brilliant to be left unpracticed.”
“Sure!.......I'll write it down for you by tomorrow.”
That confirmation made his heart swoon and a grin break out on his face. Yet another thing that would bring him closer to you. He knew that this spell was very special to you, so you being willing to show him it reassured him that you cared about him as much as he cared about you.
He was willing to do anything for you and perfecting your spell was one of the best ways he could think of to honor your spectacular intelligence.
-------------------------------------------
When night revealed itself and Cedric was tucked away trying to complete his assignment, he began to reminisce on the time he spent with you that day. He knew how special that spell was to you, and knew that you sharing it with him meant something. Right?
After all, you didn’t share personal things like that with just anyone; even he wasn’t privy to most of your private thoughts and feelings. Up until recently that is; you had begun to reveal more and more about yourself to him and, honestly, it made Cedric finally feel special and worthwhile. Which did NOT help the fact that he had been in love with you for the last five years.
And thought Cedric knew that he had to confess soon, he needed to know if you felt the same before he ruined whatever it was that you two had going on right now. If you didn’t reciprocate his feelings….that would make everything pretty awkward….Which wouldn’t help his situation out too much.
At least it would give him some closure....
He had been with you at every step of the way through your years at Hexley Hall, and he knew that you would be there for him for days to come. Working at Enchancia’s castle wouldn’t stop the bond that you both had formed over the years; it would only make it grow. Which it what he was hoping would help you develop feelings for him.
With each other until the end, that’s what you both had promised one another.
‘If only she liked me back,’ he thought to himself, gazing into the spell that he had been too distracted to work on for the last two hours.
With a huff of a laugh, he closed his textbook and laid down to go to sleep.
As if…………..

-----------
Patton slammed his bedroom door shut and crawled into bed, pulling the covers over his head. Today hadn’t been a good day. Dad was on a business trip, and would be gone until next weekend. The other kids, Oliver in particular, had been going after him again. “Where’s Virgil now?” they asked. “Did he get sick of having to watch your ass?” Virgil, Patton’s best and only friend, was at boarding school, having the time of his life. Patton was happy for him, really, but he missed him, too. He wished he was five again. Because then he’d at least still have Mom, and he wouldn’t be moping in bed. They’d be in the kitchen, making snickerdoodles while Patton told her what had happened. She’d say something comforting and hopeful, because that’s who she was. Dad would come home from work at exactly the time he said he would, and he’d smile and play catch with Patton again.
Patton wondered where they would be if Mom hadn’t died overseas. Would he and Dad be shopping for suits? Would he have remembered Patton’s birthday?
He was turning sixteen tomorrow. That was the day he was going to get his soulmate. Virgil had already found his. A cool guy he’d met at boarding school. Virgil talked about him nonstop. He talked about his roommate almost as much, but not in a good way. Apparently, he was, “pure evil”. Pattom sighed and burrowed deeper under the covers. He wished he could be there with his friend, but Virgil had gotten into the school on scholarship. Patton’s grades weren’t nearly good enough for that, and he didn’t know how he’d convince Dad to pay the steep tuition, let alone get his attention long enough to broach the subject.
Patton stayed in bed, scrolling through his phone for the rest of the afternoon. At around five, he got up to start cooking vegetables so he could spruce up some ramen. After dinner, he took a shower, and got back into bed, watching Netflix until he fell asleep.
***
School the next day was just as good as the day before. Patton went home and made himself some cupcakes. He got a call from Virgil just as he was about to order a pizza.
“Happy Birthday, Popstar!” His face lit up, though there was no one there to see him.
“Virgil!!” The older boy laughed softly.
“You sound happy to hear me.”
“I am! I miss you so much. How’s school? How are you doing?”
“I’m fine, Pat. School’s great. How are you? Have you heard your soulmate yet?”
“No, not yet!”
“Viiiiirrrrgillllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll,” someone wailed from the other side of the room.
“I’m talking to Patton,” he yelled. Virgil sighed, and Patton giggled.
“Was that Remus?”
“Yeah. He’s a gremlin. He’s my gremlin, but he’s still a gremlin.”
“Love you too, Veevee.” Patton laughed again.
“VIRGIL, PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR STUPID SOULMATE!!!”
“SHUT UP, JANUS! I’M ON THE PHONE!!!” Patton’s heart skipped a beat. That was the first time he’d heard Virgil’s roommate’s voice. He was yelling, but still.... It was beautiful, like a thunderstorm. “Anyway,” Virgil continued. “Where were we?”
“I haven’t gotten my soulmate yet?”
“Right--”
“VIRGIL!”
“Veeveeveeveeveeveevee--” Virgil sighed again.
“I’m sorry, Patton. I’ve got to go.” Patton’s heart sank a bit. “I’ll call you later, okay?”
“Y-yeah, sure!” Virgil hung up then. “Bye,” Patton said, voice cracking a bit. He ordered his pizza. Then he ate a cupcake while he waited for it to arrive. At least he wouldn’t have to cook for the rest of the week. The tears were slipping down his face before he realized it. He tried to wipe away his tears, but then he thought about why he was crying, and then he was bawling. He couldn’t stop. But then--
Ext. Day. A small park with picnic tables.
DAVID is sitting at a table scribbling in a notebook.
David: No, no no.....
Patton stopped crying and listened to the story playing out in his head. It sounded like this person was editing a short film. Every few minutes, they’d start at the beginning and start reading again, pausing every now and then. Each time they’d start over, the story was a bit different. His pizza was there in a few minutes, though, and the story stopped at about that point.
That night, after dinner, Patton wrote, “I liked that screenplay you were writing. Can I hear another?” He read it over, then waited.
Oh. That screenplay is the only one I’ve written. My roommate has a bunch of books, though. I could read one of those if you wanted?
Patton grinned.
That sounds great.
Alright, then.
Patton curled up in bed. His soulmate began reading from The Count of Monte Cristo. He grinned. Monte Cristo was both his and Virgil’s favorite book, and one of the reasons they’d started talking in the first place. Patton drifted off as the words his soulmate was reading.
***
Patton shook his head, trying to focus. His soulmate was frantically editing the screenplay he’d read the night they met, and it was distracting. He caught sight of Virgil waving from a table in the corner. He was sitting with a taller guy with a moustache and a white streak in his hair and a guy wearing a hat. The one with a hat was hunched over some papers, making a bunch of marks with a red pen. Patton made his way over to his friend and hugged him tightly. “Hey, Virge!”
“Hey, Patton!” Patton looked over at the boy with the streak in his hair.
“You must be Remus.” Remus grinned and nodded.
“Nice to finally meet you, Pattycakes.” They shook hands.
“The bitch wearing the hat is Janus,” Virgil said.
“Shut up, Virgil,” Janus said without looking up. Patton’s soulmate stopped reading for a minute. “I need to get this done so I can film and edit it in time for the Film Festival.” Virgil rolled his eyes. Patton’s soulmate started reading again. He shook his head and walked up to the register and ordered a drink. When he came back, his soulmate had stopped reading and Janus had put away his papers and was playfully bantering with Virgil. Virgil grinned at Patton.
“Hey, Janus, I think this guy right here could be your Lee.” Patton sat down, frowning.
“What did you say?”
“It’s my screenplay,” Janus said. “It’s about this guy named David who has a meet-cute with a guy named Lee and they end up dating.”
“Look, David, I’m sorry. I’m sorry if you don’t feel the same, but I like you. I like that you take off your glasses when you’re concentrating, I like how angry you get when bad things happen, I like that you weave magic into your stories that leaves me breathless. I like you,” Patton rattled off immediately. Janus stared at him, wide eyed. Patton looked straight into his eye. “Your screenplay has been playing nonstop in my head since my sixteenth birthday.” Janus took a deep breath.
“Can I kiss you,” he asked. Patton nodded, and Janus leaned forward and gave him a swift kiss on the lips. “You’ve been amazing,” he whispered. “All the feedback--” Patton blushed.
“No, no, it’s an amazing film! You should be proud of it.” Janus smiled. Virgil cleared his throat, and Patton and Janus turned to look at him.
“Look, it’s great that you two found each other, but Janus?” Janus tilted his head to the side. “If you ever break his heart, I’m going to come for your fucking kneecaps.” Janus gulped and nodded.
“Noted.” Patton shook his head and smiled. Some things never change.

topher everette dane.
twenty six. line cook. dylan o'brien.
beware of the dog. he is very sarcastic.
content warning: child neglect, foster care, adoption, drug use (exclusively 🍃; unless his dad asks. then, he doesn't know what you're talking about. mary jane who? sorry, name doesn't ring a bell).
dominant traits: kind-hearted, enthusiastic, witty, caring, sensitive, big lazy unmotivated, comical, energetic, curious, flippant, laid-back, playful, honest, loyal, supportive, protective, inconsistent, immature, inattentive/easily distracted, tactless, anxious, clumsy, people pleasing, a tad insecure, unorganized.
fictional parallels: ace (nancy drew cw); clint barton (marvel comics, not mcu); evan buckley (911 fox); fox mulder (x-files); hannibal king (blade trinity); kenzie malikov (lost girl); scoobert doo (scooby doo); shawn spencer (psych); stiles stilinski (teen wolf); xander harris (btvs).
○ topher was born to a mother who cared more about her next fix and how to get it, than any of the children she kept wracking up. he'd never met his father (none of them had), not that he'd have been able to point him out in a line-up from the revolving door of partners his mother had coming through their small two bedroom apartment. he spent the majority of his youth taking care of his younger siblings the best he could while the eldest did all they could to keep food on the table. which ultimately, was their undoing. one call to cps and a ten year old toph found himself with a new family with no idea what had happened to his siblings. so much for not splitting them up. luckily for him, the dane's turned out to be great people. he can only hope the other prichard kids had the same outcome.
○ the downside to being raised in a good family? there are suddenly expectations of you. and, to cyril dane─who is by all counts topher's father at this point in time─toph just never seems to hit his mark. he never seems happy or as satisfied with the life dear ol' dad strives for him to have. hell, he went to college just to keep the man happy and it was easily the worst experience of his life (that of with his mother, not excluded. what? experience is subjective!) to be honest, he just doesn't have it in him to commit. i mean, other than to the diner he's been working at since he'd practically hit puberty. no desk job or proper title or, hell, even a fireman's badge could make him as content as he is standing in a hot kitchen making mediocre food and bullshitting with his favorite kind of people in the world. much to his father's dismay.
○ toph is the kind of guy who a thousand percent believes in the paranormal and extraterrestrials and all of the not-so-human history of mw, but absolutely doesn't want to go into the looking for aliens? why? why would we do that? for what reaso─fine. i'll go, because you're going, but i'll complain the entire time! and i want pizza after! regardless of his many (and i mean many) attempts of convincing objections, he loves it a hell of a lot more than he lets on. and those weekends he spends with mystery inc? well. he looks forward to that shit all damn week long.
plot hooks;
the dane family. adopted family headed by cyril danes. check out syl's plothooks! (tw: cult involvement in papa dane’s history!)
bio siblings + mother. as said above, toph was adopted when he was younger after his mom failed to be able to take care of he and his siblings properly. at this time he's never really had much contact with them, being separated and such. i think it'd be cool if one of them showed up one day looking for family to connect to? or even his mom which would be... so so much drama. none of the kids ever knew their fathers either, so that could also be interesting?
the rest of the gang. noor made a mystery inc. group that toph here is the scooby of! fred and shaggy are still open and so very needed! i lowkey would love if the fred and toph always bumped heads a bit bc he doesn't take shit seriously and fred is obv the leader and is probably like, jfc dude, take your adderall. and if the shaggy could be his absolute best friend i would cry?? (x)
the rejects employees of starlight diner. honestly, topher is probably working more than he is at home just because he gets bored hella easily and idk if he’s working he can at least not feel guilty about being an active disappointment lol make some co-workers?? (x)

Burning Bridges
Part 4 of the Dying for Dummies series: 1  2  3
Words: 1,564
TW:  detailed gore, implied underaged drinking (though could be replaced with gasoline since it’s not explicitly stated), technically suicide and major character death (is it major character death if he’s already dead-ish and continues to die-ish?)
AO3 as always
A seemingly invisible branch smacked him, like a slap to the face. He bit back a curse as he tenderly rubbed the injured spot. He shot a glare at the offending branch before walking off, shattered ego in hand.
It had been a long day for Dash.
To start off, it was a Tuesday; the worst day, in his humble opinion, of the week. A mockery of the seven-day week system. Mondays always went by quicker than anticipated, maybe because your mind was still laid out on Sunday’s bed and hadn’t fully woken up. Or maybe just because of the bad stigma surrounding the day. Up for debate. Wednesday offered the relief of being smack in the middle, a sign that you were halfway through the week. Plus, how could anyone hate the iconic “pink / hump day”? Thursday’s a reminder of what’s to come. Friday is just around the corner and Thursday was it’s biggest cheerleader, and who could deny a sexy cheerleader? Did he even have to explain the weekend crew? Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were the A-listers of the week, but with less criticism and more fun. But Tuesday? Tuesday laughed in the face of students. You’re awake, aware of what’s to come. Tuesday roundhouse kicked you in the gut and called you all kinds of slurs.
Tuesday also marked the date of his Physics exams so he may be a little biased. He could never wrap his head around the subject. Give him a poem to analyze, a historical event to write a report on, hell, even a sonnet to play, but ask him Newton’s laws and he’ll respond with a blank face. It wasn’t like he didn’t study either. He had weekly study sessions at Fentons’ house, and while Danny had been a huge help, that didn’t stop him from failing this exam.
Speaking of Danny.
Their relationship was slowly, but surely, getting better throughout the years. After being dragged to therapy by his family, he’d gathered up the balls to not only stop the tormenting of his fellow peers but formed a well-versed apology- his magnum opus, to Danny. The kid just waved his apology off, as if it were the least of his worries, water under the bridge, but that only served to fuel his need to get closer to him- no one waved off years of bullying that easily.
To say Dash worried for Danny was an understatement. While the bullying ceased at the end of Freshman year, the daily bruises Danny wore didn’t. There was a higher probability of winning the lottery than to catch the kid without some kind of injury.
And he was skinny. Deathly so. Malnourished more likely than not.
It could be neglect. Hopefully not abuse. Dash knew the Fentons were over-indulged in their work, gluttonous even. He really hoped that, amidst all of their work, they set aside time from their children. Ghosts were important, sure, but why have kids if you don’t look after them. And by the looks of Danny-
But Jazz was a different story. She seemed to be the mirror image of her brother, both siblings passionate and wise beyond their age, but that’s where the similarities seemed to end. Jazz was the perfect everything. Perfect student, perfect daughter, she was beautiful and graceful and seemed to light up the world around her. Where Danny was cold and distant, Jazz radiated warmth and greeted everyone with open arms. Where Danny was pale, gaunt, and sharp in his features, Jazz was vibrant, bright, and soft. Jazz was a compassionate canine; Danny a cornered cat.
That alone raised so many more questions. Did the Fentons favor Jazz? Did they feel that Danny hadn’t lived up to the legacy Jazz left behind? Did they hate Danny? It sure seemed like they did. What could Danny- sweet, dopey but kindhearted Danny- have done to garner such fierce hatred towards him? From his parents no less.
He pushed the thoughts away as he trudged past the park’s populated hiking trail into a more obscure one.
One of the activities he picked up from his therapy days was hiking (although hiking was a generous term to describe the early morning and nighttime walks he went on). It allowed him time away from all the drama at school, all his responsibilities. Out here, it was just him and the trees.
He knew these trees better than he knew the bottom of his bed. This coming from the kid who used to be afraid of the monsters in his closet and slept under his bed countless times. Take that as a metaphor if you’d like.
The trees were his family, the trees were his home, the trees listened to his rants and tears and joys all the same. This time venting his frustration over the taunting 50 he’d earned. And they were usually alone, just him and the trees, but Tuesday seemingly had it out for him. Among the trees was the boy inhabiting his thoughts- Danny.
He was dressed in his usual dark jeans and oversized NASA tee, a flannel draped loosely over his arms, threatening to fall at any sudden movement. Combat boots dug into the dirt beneath him with his weight pressed against a Rum Cherry tree, he was the blueprint for nerdy punks across Amity Park. Stealing glances at a notebook held tightly in one hand, he was taking swigs of water out of a pastel pink hydroflask. He looked- peaceful.
Feeling like a creep, Dash continued to watch as he let his notebook fall from his hands as he drunkenly fished in one of his flannel pockets. Horror washed over Dash’s senses as he watched Danny pull out a matchbook and strike one. Mischief lit up his eyes. Before he could take even a single breath, he watched Danny fill his mouth with what he was now convinced was definitely not water, before taking the flame to his lips.
In an instant, flames licked up his face and Dash ran on autopilot. He dug his own water bottle out of his backpack and spent no time rushing up to his burning friend, dousing him in liquid life. Conspicuousness be damned.
“Fuck”
Concern flooded Dash as he took in Danny’s appearance. His face was glazed, like the grease off a re-heated pizza slice. The pepperoni blisters only further drove their likeness. Singed hair wilted only to be pushed back up by a somehow conscious Danny, only to reveal a melting eyeball. Like a goblet of wine, it dripped lazily, hypnotizing Dash for only a moment before feeling a tug deep in his stomach. He was caught in a battle between wanting- no needing to throw up and rushing to help his friend.
He didn’t win.
“Shit, Dash, how long have you been here?” Danny gurgled out, words swishing in his mouth, meaning only salvaged by the sheer luck of Dash’s presence. If he hadn’t been there-
“Dash?!”
Maybe it was because it was his name and it was familiar, but he could’ve sworn his name spilled out in a much clearer light. He didn’t want to look up. He didn’t want to take the chance of throwing up again. Vile still stained his tongue as he asked,
“Are you okay?”
The question was stupid, obviously he wasn’t okay, but it still hung in the air for a few excruciating seconds. Dash squeezed his eyes shut and turned to Danny’s general area and opened his mouth to say something, anything to cut through the ugly tension between them. Danny cut first.
He had the nerve to ask, “Are you okay?” and Dash blanched. He didn’t know what to think of Danny. Was he selfless for asking, or just plain brain dead?
“Am I okay?” he drawled out.
“I mean you kind of just ruined my shoes with your puke, like, how am I s’pose to wash this out?” he said. This time he didn’t imagine it. His words were much easier to decipher. Not oozing with moist vowels and quivering consonants, but clear and coherent thoughts. And, was he teasing him about the throw-up? The same throw-up caused by his near-death experience?
“You set yourself on fire!? In the middle of the park no less! You could’ve died! You could’ve-“ mid-way through his little speech he dared to look up only for the words to die on his lips. Danny looked fine, generally at least. His face was now adorned with light scar tissue where previously dark burns marred his fair skin.
“Uh, that was kind of the point?”
At that, the tug at his stomach returned. Tears threatened to spill from his eyes at the very thought of witnessing Danny’s suicide attempt. It was much worse than he thought.
“Danny-“
“Wait no, that came out wrong.” Danny sighed and ran a shaky hand through his now unkempt, but otherwise fine, hair. “look Dash, you might wanna sit down for this one.” He gestured to the tree he had, just minutes ago, been resting on. He shakily took a seat on one of the tree’s massive jutting roots. Danny followed. In minutes, his view of the world shattered. Everything he thought he knew about ghosts was thrown out the window and he found himself back in school Freshman year, back at seeing a ghost for the first time.
He hated Tuesdays.

look it's very simple most main cast tma characters (except possibly Basira and Sasha and MAYBE Tim) are reacting to not just supernatural trauma but clear, explicit childhood trauma and I think that's important to take into consideration.
Jon evidently came from a difficult place in the first place, and he was taught that he was an unwanted annoyance who'd derailed his grandma's life, that his intelligence was unpleasant, arrogant and inconvenient, and that the worst thing he could do was get in a grown-up's way. Of course he's bad at talking to people about his feelings. Of course he apologises for seemingly random things and tries to hide big problems and power through on his own. He had a really lonely childhood where he felt like an inconvenience, and now in adulthood it's deeply difficult to believe that anybody will help him and not hold it against him. Of course he comes across staid and aloof - he doesn't believe that anyone will like him if he isn't Doing Everything Right. It's so easy in that situation to worry so much about not being a burden that you freeze your friends out even as they can see you spiralling and you end up hurting them when in fact they'd be more than willing to offer help and get you out. It's why addiction is such an easy hole to fall in, because it feels like a way you can be self-sufficient and deal with your feelings without being a burden. Jon ISN'T a very closed off person naturally, he wants to reach out and be close to people, but he's been taught over and over (as many autistic children are) that he's too much, that he takes up too much space, that it's unfair for him to expect people to go out of their way to help him, so he boxes it away and shoves it down and turns to cigarettes, paranoia and denial in an attempt to manage the problem by himself. He's trying so hard to not be the Weird Kid, he's trying to play the part of what he thinks an archivist and a boss should be and blah his way through; he knows believing in weird shit opens the door to all sorts of stuff so he sticks his fingers in his ears and goes LALALA. he's deeply avoidant which ironically is why he often ends up diving in recklessly - it feels safe to only put yourself at risk (you who think you don't particularly matter, are unloved, and are an annoyance anyway) rather than wait and let others get involved and either judge you or get hurt. He didn't tell ANYONE that his encounter with Daisy had hurt him for SEVERAL YEARS because he didn't want to upset anyone. This speaks to me so much of a kid who growing up was always treated as underfoot, in the way, abnormal and with emotions and problems that weren't nearly as significant as the Important Grownup Things. I don't think anyone knew how to help 5 year old Jon with navigating his parents' deaths, and his grandmother's grief at losing her child probably made it very hard for them to connect whether or not she actually resented him the way he thinks she did. He was treated with bitterness and coldness his whole childhood, and he's never been given space to be angry about that because she was doing her best and dealing with a difficult situation, but it certainly left him with an expectation that trying to turn to anyone for emotional help and support will get you in trouble AND is unfair on them. Being with Martin, and indeed all his friendships and relationships, is hard to navigate when you've been taught for so long that exposing your vulnerability will get you yelled at or will upset people. You try to harden up and develop an exoskeleton but you're so chronically soft and in need of help and love so it spills out messy and you don't know how to take the walls down or build better ones up.
Martin's obvious, because his parental abuse is at the centre of his arc and is explicitly spelled out by Elias. He's so sure it's something he's done that's made his dad leave and his mum despise him, and he's hoping against desperate hope that if he can be Good Enough, little enough of a problem, helpful and invaluable, he can make up for whatever chronic flaw in his personality makes him unlovable. Of course he ISN'T unlovable, and none of his parent's treatment of him is his fault, but it's much safer to believe it's your fault and you can change it than it is to believe people who are meant to love you can just not hold up their end of the bargain for reasons totally outside your control. Much like with Jon, Martin has been taught to believe that he's a Problem - where Jon puts up walls and tries to be aggressively separate, Martin tries as hard as he can to prove himself Useful and Valuable while walling off an excess of humanity. Honestly though Martin's coping with it better than Jon throughout the series because he knows what it is and he's TRYING to push past the impulse to Not Be A Bother and actually let people love him. But he's still seeing the world through the lens of someone who's spent his whole life believing that the only way he'll deserve love is to become invaluable, to be useful, to be caring, to be needed, to be all give and no take, and that's not sustainable. And how much must it knock him back from trusting enough to ask for help when his boss (leave aside the love interest bit) talks about him like he's a buffoon and a waste of space however hard he's trying to be helpful and valuable, just like his mum has for years? Finding out that you matter enough to that person for him to risk his life to save you, and to really truly see you, goes a long way towards showing you that you're not always right to assume that people are lying when they say nice things about you and honest when they say cruel things about you - sometimes you are genuinely loved by people who ALSO see you as flawed. and while obviously after that the circumstances are very different I think we've seen Martin become more comfortable with his own tendency to acidity and sarcasm, anger and messy feelings, around not just Jon but in general (although also I can't talk about this without as usual observing how weird it is that people read Martin as sweet, servile and wimpy when he's consistently tough, sarcastic and brave AS WELL AS deeply lacking in confidence, afraid of conflict, emotionally giving, and terminally people-pleasing. He's right when he repeatedly says people underestimate him and don't see him - it's weird that the fandom is a big culprit of that)
Speaking of characters whose trauma responses are often overlooked, Melanie doesn't talk much about her pre-statement life but she's clear that it hasn't been good, and that other than her dad she's had nobody in the world she can trust. I am positive that her childhood was marked by parental abuse/neglect to at least a certain degree, because she was willing to kill her mum/let her die without much compunction (I THINK that's the implication of Elias' line about her mum's life insurance paying for her dad's care). To me (projecting), Melanie's fear of losing control of her own anger speaks to somebody who grew up in a volatile and probably physically violent home, and I suspect her mother was struggling to cope and lashing out at Melanie and her dad. (I also think that while it's unlikely to be made explicit because Jonny generally shies away from talking it writing about sexual abuse, that it's very probable that Melanie experienced adolescent sex abuse from some source and wasn't protected or supported. That's pure conjecture though based on how she acts.) I think she's definitely had issues with everyone in her family except her dad when it comes to her sexuality and that she's been largely estranged for a long time, and I think those are the kinds of things which, coupled with abuse and sidelining in adulthood, leave you with a lot of rage and nowhere to put it, and with a huge amount of difficulty trusting people. Undeniably, Melanie has been on the sharp end of other people's violent anger often enough to be really, really wary of ever giving her own anger free rein, or losing control of herself.
We don't know much about Daisy's childhood beyond what happened with Calvin (Pretty Damn Traumatic), but I think what I find interesting about Daisy is that she's definitely someone who, like many girls, struggled with that point in childhood where you're supposed to Stop Liking Boy (Fun) Things and Become A Girl. I think it's safe to say that Daisy was fairly subject to bullying and alienation in primary school, and I think people often overlook how badly that affects you your whole life. But also to be severely injured and traumatised, to tell people what happened, and to not be believed? That leaves marks. Marks that teach you that you can't trust that justice will be served, and you have to take the law into your own hands. I think there's also a lot of the Gendered Traumas happening around Daisy - she clearly has a conflicted relationship with femininity - but that's another post.

Y/N pulled into the large gate leading up to the mansion. Rolling down her window she pressed the button.
“Hello?” her uncle’s voice ran through the intercom.
“Uncle Tommy?” she smiled a bit. “Sorry for just dropping on you like this… it’s Y/N.”
"Y/N/N! I was about to send out a search party for you. Drive-in kid!"
Y/N leaned back in her seat as she watched the gate open. Once it was wide enough, she drove forward and up the driveway towards the front door. She had turned off her car when a man, about 6’2 and arms filled with tattoos. Tommy Lee smiled at Y/N as he rushed to her and picked her up in his arms.
“Hey kid!” he smiled. “You scared me with that call… are you okay?” he gave her a once over.
“Yeah, I’m fine… just the job got a bit… scary so I was just covering my bases,” she grabbed her bag from the trunk making sure to keep her secret compartment closed. “How have you been Uncle T?”
"Good, good," Tommy rubbed the back of his neck. "You know… you should call…"
“He doesn’t need to know,” she made her way inside and placed her bag on the floor by the couch. “I can crash on your couch--”
“You know where your room is here!” Tommy pulled her in for a hug. “Go settle in and I can make us my famous Gyros!”
“You know it!” she smiled as she made her way up the stairs and to her room. She settled in and lay on the bed her uncle had for her. A small nap never hurt anyone. But the one thought that she couldn’t get out of her head, was her moment with Dean Winchester.
Back downstairs, Tommy pulled out his phone and dialed the familiar number.
“Nikki? It’s Tommy,” Tommy glanced up the stairs in the direction of Y/N’s room. He knew she would be mad, but he had to do this. “She’s here at my house.”
"She went to you?" Nikki sighed. "Figured she would. Does she look okay?"
“Just… I think she might be doing some hard stuff Nik… she might be going down THAT road,” Tommy closed his eyes not sure what his niece was doing.
"Shit, I'll be right there… Just," Nikki cleared his throat. "Just make sure she doesn't know I'm coming."
Tommy hung up with Nikki and moved around his kitchen to prepare the Gyros for Y/N. it was hard for him to call Nikki like that knowing the relationship between his niece and his best friend. But it had to be done, if she was going down a dark path, he had to be there to help her out. He was cooking the meat in the frying pan when he heard Y/N coming down.
“It smells awesome!” she smiled as she grabbed a beer from his fridge. “So, what’s life like for you Uncle T?”
“Got into a fight with Brandon the other day,” Tommy told her, rubbing at his lip. “Knocked me the fuck out and then went running his mouth saying I started it. So, same old same.”
“Brandon is a douche and he has no idea what a great dad you are,” she smiled at him, “wish I could say the same for mine.” she chugged half the bottle before smiling at him. “Need any help?”
“You’re always more than welcome to help. I taught you everything you know anyway,” He winked and moved over to let her cut the veggies.
Y/N moved over next to her uncle as he helped her cook. It was things like this that made her wish she was his daughter. She knew that all the stories that demonized him were exaggerated. He wasn’t as bad as the media made him out to be. In fact, he was one of her favorite uncles, acting more like a father than her own sperm donor of a father was. Even with his faults, he always found a way to make her feel loved.
“I’m only going to stay for a few days,” she finished her beer and grabbed another one. “I have a small job around here I need to take care of. After that, I’m on the road again. Gotta keep moving you know.”
“You remind me of your mom,” Tommy told her. “She was always on the road, almost as much as we were…”
“Yeah, the Pontiac out there belonged to her,” she cleared her throat. “I restored it and I've been maintaining her.”
Y/N was helping her uncle make baklava when the doorbell rang. She was too focused on making sure the pastry was ready for the oven, to realize her father had come in.
“Oh, hey Y/N,” Nikki said, offering her a smile. Tommy gulped a little, feeling the tension already start to flow through the room.
He really screwed up this time.
Y/N froze as the familiar voice rang in her ears. She grabbed her beer and chugged it until it was empty.
"Nikki," she muttered, staying close to the counter. "Knew he would call you eventually. You saw me. I'm fine. You can go."
“I just…” Nikki sighed. He had been practicing his speech in the car on the way over and now it was falling flat.
Fuck.
"I’m not staying long anyway,” she cleared her throat as she grabbed a bottle of Jack, she knew her uncle kept just for her. “I’m spending the night before heading to my apartment.”
“Yeah,” Nikki cleared his throat, “you still won’t tell me where that is?”
“It’s none of your business,” she breathed. “Just go back to your perfect kids… you know the ones you actually wanted.”
“Y/N, I wanted you too,” Nikki told her. “I never wanted for you and your mom to not be a part of my life. I still want you in my life and I…” She glared at him, cutting him off.
“Save it,” she grabbed a glass and filled it three fingers full of the amber liquid. “Look I know you’re going to stay for dinner anyways because Uncle Tommy is worried about something. So let’s get this over with so I can sleep in peace and head home.” she prepared her gyro and gave a soft glare to her Uncle Tommy.
As they sat at the table, Tommy kept giving Nikki pointed looks and pointing at his arm while hinting at Y/N. Both men leaned on their chairs to try and get a look at Y/N’s arms.
“Are you looking for something boys?” she took a sip of her whiskey before folding her hand and placing her elbows on the table.
“Um… look Y/N/N,” Tommy began as he took a sip of water. “We’re worried about you. Your dad and--”
“Sperm donor,” Y/N interjected.
“Y/N,” Nikki sighed. “We just want to know that you aren’t… falling into a dark path here.”
“Oh… you mean am I shooting up?” she pushed her chair back and shrugged off her flannel. She showed them her arms, “yeah, I’m nothing like you Nikki. I may drink a lot… but I would never pump that kind of poison in my body. I’d rather die alone than be like you and ruin someone's life with the promise of love and forever.”  she walked up to Nikki and placed her arms by his, “let’s compare, shall we?”
Nikki pushed away, “I get it.” he looked down and at Tommy, “I shouldn’t have come. Thanks for calling me I’ll go.”
“Yeah,” she scoffed, “run away like you always do. Just like when mom died… and I was just dumped on you and your flavor of the month.” she looked to her uncle, “I know you meant well, but honestly next time… butt out.”
Tommy watched as Y/N rushed up the stairs and sighed. He hoped that she would talk about her last phone call, if he had to be honest, she was acting almost like how her mother would act. He knew Y/N’s mom worked, well he wasn’t sure what she did, but she always seemed secretive just like Y/N.
In her room, Y/N picked up the phone and dialed the one number she never thought she would ever be dialing.
“Dean?” she took in a deep breath, “It’s Y/N… think you can meet me at the address I’m going to text you?”
The next morning, Y/N woke up and grabbed her bag, ready to head to her apartment on the strip. She didn’t tell anyone, but she found a way to rent the old apartment that her father and uncles had during their early band days. Driving the Pontiac down the familiar road she pulled up to the old building and up the familiar staircase. She expected to be alone for a few hours before Dean would arrive, but that was a wash. The green-eyed hunter was sitting by her front door waiting for her.
“You know, when you said to meet you here,” He groaned as he got up, “I wasn't expecting to have to wait for you.”
“Sorry,” Y/N sighed as she grabbed her keys and opened the door. “I was at my uncle’s house. I didn’t expect to get here so late.”
“It’s fine,” Dean smiled. “Didn’t peg you for someone who would live on the stip.”
“I grew up here,” she led him inside and ran her hands over the familiar markings. “I was lucky that no one was living here when I wanted it.”
“Yeah, I heard that Motley Crue lived in something like this,” Dean placed his bag on the couch and, “So Sam is off back in Kansas, it’s just you and me Y/L/N.”
“Yeah?” Y/N chuckled and smiled, “well… we can do some things. We can check out the whiskey, get drunk and just hang out.”
"That sounds like a fun way to start," dean offered her a smile. "Maybe we could do something more?"
“Ok,” She turned around and placed her hands on her hips, “slow your roll. I told you before, I don’t do commitment. So, whatever you are trying to do… it’s not going to work. If we are going to have fun… it’s fun… got it?”
“Yeah, I got it, I don’t do it either. I’m just trying to get to know you,” Dean observed her as she walked to her room in the back. She seemed lost in a memory. “You and your mom came back here to live?” he looked around the small two-bedroom apartment.
“Yeah,” she gave him a sad smile, “before my dad became a major douche we lived here and we were happy… then… the life caught up with my mom and  things went downhill.”
“So, what did you have in mind?” Dean changed the subject as he noticed the sad look on her face.
It didn’t take long before Dean and Y/N were walking along the strip. She pointed out various places she would remember from her childhood. One being her dad working in a particular liquor store. Walking in, Y/N made a beeline for the whiskey Isle and grabbed a few bottles. She looked over at Dean and smiled.
“Pick your poison because we are going to relax and enjoy the strip,” she walked close to him and leaned in, her lips close to his ear. “Plus, it’s the best way to sniff out monsters. They love to hang out around here.” she winked and made her way to the cashier.
“Ok so we have our booze,” Dean clapped his hands together as they made their way back to her apartment, “What time do the festivities begin?”
“Sundown,” she took in the sounds of the strip and froze when she heard a familiar voice calling her name.
“Y/N? Hey!” Gunner Sixx called out. “Why didn’t you tell me you were in town?”
“Shit,” she quickened her pace, “come on let's put this back in my apartment and I can show you where the greasiest burger in town is.”
“Hey, you have someone calling you,” Dean looked back as a tall man, relatively skinny with long dyed blond hair tried to catch up to them.
“It’s probably just someone who thinks I look like someone else,” Y/N waved him off. “This is Hollywood man.”
“Y/N wait!” Gunner called after her.
“Fuck,” she cursed before handing Dean her keys and the bag of liquor. “Head to my apartment I’ll be right there.”
Dean simply nodded as he watched Y/N head to the man who was calling her before heading to her apartment.
“What do you want Gunner? Do you know how to take a hint? I didn’t tell anyone I was in town because I don’t want to see you.” she glared at him.
“Who’s that?” Gunner asked, watching Dean head into the building.
“None of your damn business!” she growled, “as far as I’m concerned, we are not family, we are nothing. You can tell the rest that they can celebrate, I won’t be around much longer anyway. They can get their wish.” she turned on her heels and groaned when she came face to face with her sister Storm Sixx. “god damn it!”
“Sis! You’re in town!” Storm leaned in to hug Y/N, only for Y/N to sidestep and move out of the way.
“Seriously? What drugs are you guys on?” she glared at them. “Since when am I, sis? What are you up to?”
“What do you mean?” Gunner asked.
“Can’t we try and be nice to our sister?” Storm found the ground interesting.
“Yeah right,” she scoffed, “what do you want? I know you want something. It’s all I’m good for apparently.”
“We really just wanted to hang out with you,” Gunner told her. “And we heard dad saw you and he seemed really upset.”
“If he relapses, it’s not on me,” she sneered. “I tried cleaning up his mess the first time. It took him getting you guys to be happy… so I'm taking myself out of the equation,” she poked Gunner in the chest, “if you knew what I’ve really done for this family you would have been nicer to me from the jump. But since my mom died you all have been nothing but an asshole.” with that, she turned and walked away from them, hoping that they wouldn't recognize where she was staying.
Walking into the apartment she gave Dean a fake smile before sitting on the couch and chugging some of the whiskey straight from the bottle.
“Everything okay?” he raised an eyebrow at her as she took a deep breath.
“Yeah, totally fine…” she looked at the time and stood up. “You brought the Impala?”
“Yeah,” Dean nodded, “why?”
“I have a place I want to go to, and the Impala is the best wheel to get us there.” she grabbed a few essential things and turned to him. “You are going to love it.”
Dean drove the Impala following Y/N’s directions. He pulled up to a dirt road and what looked like a radio tower. He was puzzled when Y/N climbed out and guided him closer to the edge.
“Ok, come on,” she sat on Baby’s hood and took in a deep breath.
“Um… where are we?” he looked around.
“Just look down,” she pointed to the ledge.
Dean couldn’t believe his eyes. He was staring at the Hollywood sign from above. He looked over at Y/N’s face, she seemed happy.
“Why did we come here?” he climbed on the hood next to her as she offered him the bottle of whiskey.
“Before my dad turned into a major douche… he and my mom were happy,” she placed her arm under her head and closed her eyes. “We used to hike up here and have fun playing tag. It was a lot simpler… but then… mom… well, she started hunting hardcore.”
“And what about your dad?” Dean asked, a little unsure of the answer he was going to get.
“Turned to drugs when he couldn’t handle taking care of me,” she sat up and grabbed the now half-empty bottle they shared. Bringing the opening to her lips she took in a big sip before handing it to him. “There was a demon… one night. He was too high to notice that it was a real monster. Mom burst in and after that… they ended things. I got to see him every now and then until she died when I was thirteen. By then he had a wife and three kids, and I was just someone who cramped his style.”
“I’m so sorry,” Dean looked over at her.
“It’s fine,” shaking her head she scooched over to him. “I learned to just keep my head down and not ask for anything. I mean considering the guy never gave me a birthday or Christmas present, I got used to just not being wanted.”
“Well, I can tell you, you’re always wanted by someone, even if you don’t want them,” He wrapped an arm around her, holding her close to his side.
“Are you trying to change my mind on the whole commitment thing?” she chuckled, “because I am not going for it. You can thank my dad for that. I am not a commitment person, I’ve tried it and it never works out.” she leaned back against the windshield of the Impala as her phone began to ring with the familiar tune of Shout at the Devil.
Looking at the screen the name Nikki flashed on it. Rolling her eyes, she answered it. “What do you want Nick? I’m in the middle of something.”
“Y/N, I want to take you out for your birthday. I know it’s coming up.” Nikki Sixx swallowed the lump in his throat as he held the phone to his ear.
“What do you care about what I’m going to do for my birthday? I never celebrate it anyways.” She shook her head and scoffed.
“I just thought they…" Nikki let out an audible sigh. "You are my daughter Y/N. My first kid. I know I messed up and I've been trying to fix things… please, come to the house and let's celebrate."
“I’m going to be busy. I have some states to visit and some work to get done. I won’t have the time. Besides, I’m sure you have better things to do than celebrate the bastard daughter's birthday.”  with that she pulled the phone away as he continued to talk.
“Y/N that’s not true,” his voice echoed from the phone.
“Liar,” she breathed before hanging up.
Dean looked over at her as she hung up her phone. He could see her eyes filling with tears as she looked down at the phone. It was as if she wanted to say yes to whoever this ‘Nick’ guy was, but she was scared of getting hurt; scared to really let go. He knew the feeling. He was like that himself.
“So, any other places we can go where we can show baby off?” Dean sat up and placed a hand on her shoulder. "And if you want, we can make out and I can distract you as a good friend would."
“Actually, making out on the hood of your Impala does sound nice. Maybe even inside in the backseat,” she chuckled. “I mean she is hella sexy.”
“You look sexy being on her,” Dean cupped her cheek before giving her a searing kiss.
Pulling away, Y/N licked her lips before staring into his green eyes. “This doesn’t make us exclusive.”
“I know,” Dean smiled, “but I’m glad to see I was able to distract you,” he laughed and rolled off the hood. “Come on, let’s drive this baby back to the strip.”
The drive back to the strip was filled with the sounds of Zeppelin blasting from the speakers. Dean glanced at her occasionally. He would smile to himself and chuckle at how stubborn he was when he first met her. But in the end, she only wanted to be his friend. Pulling up to her apartment building by the strip Dean turned to face Y/N.
“So… what are we going to do next?” Dean shut off the engine.
“We can head to the Whiskey,” she sighed. “I need to cut loose and drink as much as I can.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Dean shut off the engine and climbed out.
It didn’t take long for them to get into the Whiskey a-go-go. Y/N scoped out the scene and found herself smiling at one of the guys flirting with her. Dean swallowed the lump in his throat as he watched Y/N grinding on a guy. It didn’t take long for a woman to come and bat their eyelashes at him. He turned on his charm, remembering that Y/N only wanted to be friends with benefits. Dean moaned as the woman he was with ground her ass on his crotch as they swayed to the music. He couldn’t help but glance at Y/N who was swaying with one of the guys she was flirting with. Dean pushed his jealousy down as the woman kissed him.
“You and I can have some fun,” she whispered in his ear before nipping at it.
Glancing back at Y/N, Dean noticed she was in a heated make-out session of her own. “Yeah, baby,” he found himself muttering, “Let’s have our own fun.”
Y/N watched as Dean went off with a woman who caught his eyes. She would never admit that it stung that he went off to have a quick roll. But then again, she was doing the same thing. At least now she could keep him at arm's length. But it was nice to have him all to herself. She will always remember being comfortable with him on the hood of his Impala.

Leverage AU ideas
Submission (Hey, it looked like tumblr sent this to me under your real name, so I’m not gonna say who submitted it just in case that was an accident, but @ submitter if you want credit feel free to hit me up with a URL or something, or reblog this and @ me or whatever!):
Idrk how tumblr works but, for your leverage au: Vanya is Reggie’s real daughter which is why she has the violin but she was neglected bc reggie was obsessed with the others. The others are jealous of Vanya for her normal life/being Reggie’s real kid.
Eventually however she comes to the for help (probably bc of Lenard) and she helps them and they become a real family.
Maybe at some point she gets infected with a bio weapon that could kill everyone (maybe lenard tries to sell it to the commission) or learns dangerous information and they all have to save Vanya!
Oh God.  (Presuming these are about the Reginald-As-Archie-Raises-The-Kids-As-Criminals AU.)  These are so good.
The others are all homeless kids or kids from the system that Reggie plucked out and adopted because he saw tendencies in them that he believed, with training, could make them the best team of criminals around.
And this all translates so well to the canon dynamic where Vanya/the rest of the family both don’t really process the abuse endured by the other party.
Reginald neglects Vanya in favor of the others; tells them they have potential.  And when Vanya asks to join in on the lessons he tells her that she has no talent at all.  He tells her again and again how he chose the others, and the implication is clear.  That if it had been up to him, he never would have chosen her at all.
Meanwhile, the others are jealous of Vanya, Reginald’s biological kid.  They’re always aware, on some level, that he only took them in because he thought they might be useful--that it was money and power that brought them into his care, as if he’d bought them.  That he could always just...put them back, in a way they feel he can’t do with Vanya.  They look at Vanya, who spends her days practicing the violin and studying normal school subjects while they have to devote their days to things like disabling laser grids, swindling people out of their funds, and getting beaten into the ground in martial arts training, and they’re--they’re jealous.  Of course they are, even if they don’t know it.
It takes them a long time (though not as long as in canon, I think) to realize they never should have blamed each other.  It was always their father.
Instead of writing a tell-all book, Vanya turns over a bunch of information to the FBI.  Their father gets arrested, a handful of the siblings get their covers blown on an important job and almost get killed by the mark’s henchman.  It’s a shitshow all around.  Their dad’s the only one to go to jail, though before he serves any real time a sniper takes him out through a courthouse window.  They can’t figure out who did it; the mystery haunts them all for years.  The others don’t get caught, but they’re still furious that Vanya almost got them killed.
(And later, much later, Vanya will join up with her family to run a con.  Some of them haven’t let go of their suspicion and hurt yet.  She doesn’t quite blame them, but it still stings.  But here’s the thing.  There are always people out there looking to exploit weakness.  And Vanya will argue with her siblings.  Diego will snap: don’t pretend like you care, you almost got us killed!
And Harold Jenkins will be waiting.  Once a young homeless thief and grifter himself, Harold heard of Reginald Hargreeves collecting prodigious young criminals off the street and begged, begged Hargreeves to take him in.  Hargreeves had sniffed, shouldered the child out of the way.  If you really had any talent, Hargreeves had said, you would have conned me into it.
But Reginald Hargreeves’ vision had always been flawed.  Harold is no perfect criminal, but he’s a dangerous one.  And when Vanya storms out of the team’s homebase in the torrential rain, Harold pops his hood up, plasters the gentle, personable smile of Leonard Peabody onto his face, and sets his con into motion.)
They all split ways for a while, the way I described in my other post.  Allison keeps grifting.  Falls in love with a mark, Patrick, at one point.  It ends badly.  Ben and Klaus are a hacker/thief duo, except Ben has more scruples about who they victimize than Klaus, and it makes things tense as hell between them sometimes.  Diego is working as a ‘retrieval specialist’ with an intense moral code and a willingness to turn on anyone that hires him if they prove themselves shitty enough.  Luther gets out of the life and goes to live in the same apartment complex as Vanya.  They end up staying close the whole time, with Vanya giving music lessons out of her apartment and Luther teaching martial arts classes.
And then they all get a missive.  An invitation, a promise of a job.  Luther almost throws it away, but Vanya stops him.  We should check it out, she says.  And so they do.  And there they find all the others: Diego, Allison, Klaus, and Ben.
And Five.  Five, the brother they’ve long thought dead.  He looks tired.  And after he fields their frantic embraces, their questions, and even lets them cry on him a bit (though he doesn’t look very happy about it), he leans back, and he tells them he has a job to offer them all.
He gets a chorus of rejections almost immediately.  Vanya presumes she isn’t invited.  Luther says he’s out of the game, and Allison says she’s trying to get out.  Diego mainly seems skeptical that Five has anything worth offering.  Klaus wants to go back to his apartment and not take jobs that are like, hard, or anything.  Low risk only, please.  Come on, Ben, let’s go.
Ben shoots Klaus a furious glare.  Actually, he says.  I can make my own decisions, Klaus.  I want to hear what Five has to say.
Five has to repress a grin. Ben has always been Five’s favorite brother.
Five puts a manila folder on the table.  His siblings pick it up, start passing it around.  It’s not long before they’re frowning, clearly distressed by what they’re reading.
“His name is James Moore,” Five says.  “He’s seven years old.  He has a rare blood disease, but there’s a new experimental treatment that his doctors believe could save his life.  His insurance company is refusing to pay for his treatment; they keep forcing the family to jump through loopholes.  It’s a, uh, company policy that they didn’t include in the contract.  Stall paying for treatment until it’s too late.  Commit a moral atrocity, let innocents die, profit.  Y’know how it goes.  Age old story, really.”
“I don’t con sick people,” Diego says, and Five rolls his eyes.
“Good, because that’s not what I’m suggesting.”
“The insurance company?” Allison catches on first.  Ben follows suit, eyebrows shooting up as he realizes what Five is saying.  “You’re suggesting we con Perseus Insurance?  Owned by one of the most powerful men in the world?  That Perseus Insurance?”
Five leans forward, rests his elbows on his knees.  He’s planned this speech.  He has a plan to take down the Commission, but it involves moving a lot of pieces very, very slowly.  And if he can take down some other bad people along the way?  Good.  But he needs a team he can trust.  He needs his family, which means this pitch needs to work.
“The rich and powerful take what they want,” Five says slowly.  “Right now, James and his family,” he gestures to the Moore file, “are suffering under an enormous weight.  I’m suggesting that we provide...leverage.”

Hi!!! Can you do an analysis on Percy & Poseidons relationship from Poseidon's POV? Poseidon went from calling Percy a wrongdoing to "you are mine, a true son of the sea" in the first book to inviting him to his palace where his wife and non-bastard son live (what as he thinking, they'd open their arms for him?), to hugging him and alongside-Zeus, offering him immortality. You don't have to use those points, and you're not limited to that timeline. I'm just curious to see your interpretation :)
I can certainty try.
Poseidon and Percy’s relationship from Poseidon’s POV.
In book one I’ve always felt that Poseidon was trying to hide Percy, it almost seemed like he hoped Percy would escape the prophecy to me much like another god hoped with his son. He claimed Percy at the last possible minute, when it was already clear who his dad was, he kept well away from Percy before that and gave no sign of having a son.
He likely did feel guilty, he may have loved Sally, but he had a son. Not only is that son going to be the center of a prophecy if it doesn’t happen before he reaches 16, but he’s also going to hold the weight of a broken oath over his head and he’s going to have Poseidon’s two brothers targeting him.
Frankly I’d feel guilty if I brought a child into that world. It’s like having a child knowing they’re just going to die as a child.
....
Okay so to gods I suppose all their kids have that fate, so perhaps that part might not hit them as hard. Or maybe it does and that’s why they keep their distance. Who knows.
Poseidon did claim Percy in the end though, and I’ve written a post on why I think so Here if you would like more of my thoughts on that.
So Percy went on the quest, and I think Poseidon did care for his son, if not for being his son then because he’s Sally’s son. So the quest worried him, and he sent a Naiad to give aid to Percy.
Percy did come in the end, he succeeded and he gave his uncle back his lightning bolt. And he kneeled to his father first.
Poseidon’s talk with Percy afterwards has all the marks of someone with no idea what to say, feelings of immense guilt, and just generally someone who’s horrible at connecting with people. Specifically children, more specifically his own children.
He’s sorry Percy was born, sorry that Percy got the fate that he was doomed to because Poseidon couldn’t help loving Percy’s mom.
I think Poseidon was trying to apologize because, he frankly did Percy wrong having a child knowing that they may be the prophecy child. Maybe he knew that Thalia was already born, it certainly didn’t seem secret, maybe he thought Percy would be safe because clearly Thalia was the prophecy child so his child would be just fine if he had one.
We have no way of knowing, but I do think he’s sorry for the fate Percy has to complete.
But he clearly loved Sally, still loves her even, and blatantly cares for Percy. He is sorry his son has the fate he has, but he is proud that his son takes after those of the sea so much.
Percy acts just like a true child of the sea, and Poseidon seems very proud of that at least. It shows that Percy is his.
Book two he tried to send Percy a brother, one of his cyclops’s. Now I think Percy might have appreciated like a sand dollar appearing, or a shell phone call, maybe a letter. But Poseidon did try.
He seemed like he was trying to help both children there. So kudos to him for being a half-way decent dad there.
Honestly the bar is low for gods being parents, if Poseidon was a mortal parent we’d be accusing him of neglect to a fairly abusive point. But since he’s a god, he gets a pass.
I’ll skip ahead to book three briefly, the only real interaction between the two was when Percy was expected (not by his dad mind you) to sacrifice a powerful magical artifact in exchange for his dad lending him the one bit of aid he’s asked for since the previous summer (really that sort of thing is annoying but at least he helped) and when Poseidon refused to allow anyone to harm Percy at the solstice meeting.
They spoke then briefly, Poseidon giving Percy a warning about Luke, but otherwise interaction was fairly minimal.
Book four, zero interaction. A shame that. But the feelings in Poseidon sending Tyson up do show a level of care. He didn’t want his son to be alone. He also shows up at the birthday party I suppose, gives Percy a sand dollar (like honey, I’m sorry, I know it seems to have cleansing powers, but you literally gave him a tool for future use rather than a meaningful gift. Please learn how to give presents to children.) and they talk briefly about the threats of the Titans.
Fifth book Poseidon saves Percy, he sweeps him to his palace. He doesn’t stop Triton from being (understandably) snappy, but he clearly cares for Percy there. He went to a lot of trouble to get Percy to safety considering he’s actively fighting a war at the same time.
He listened to Percy when Percy asked him to help. He aided him when asked even at the expense of his palace (oh the game room, it’s not like he can snap his fingers and fix everything immediately) the bigger threat would’ve been to his subjects as far as I can tell.
He picked his son over the thousands of beings that live in the sea that may die if he leaves to aid his son, especially as he was taking some of his greatest warriors to help.
That shows a lot of care, and a lot of good talking on Percy’s end.
Oh yeah, he also didn’t vaporize Percy for sitting on his chair, I guess kudos for that?
The following book he does nothing when Hera kidnaps his son, though he does seem to allow Tyson off to go look for him. Frankly I’m fairly unimpressed at the quick turn around and think it’s slightly bad writing that they didn’t have Poseidon straight up on a murder path over his son going missing, he’s certainly threatened war for him enough times, but I digress.
There’s a brief mention at some point of Percy having visited undersea, being to Poseidon’s palace, I can’t quite remember when it happened. So at least he’s gotten to visit his dad.
We don’t actually see him do... anything really, for Percy until Blood of Olympus, and I’ve half blocked that book out and I’m not rereading it for this so best I can say is they fought together?
Anyways, excluding what I feel is out of character in HOO, Poseidon slowly grew to care for Percy as more than just being his son. He seems to have grown to genuinely love his son, and was willing to sacrifice his kingdom for him. That’s a big change from not even being willing to send a letter in book one.
Also while writing this I really realized that for all that Poseidon is one of the best parents, he’s still horribly neglectful and the bar for gods being parents is so horrifically low. Like, I would hate any of them as a parent, even him.
Anyways, I hope this answers your question!
