Its been almost four years since you've met the turtles and even longer since you've last been in contact with other humans. Sudden mutation which disabled your abillity to live a normal life has taken a big toll on your somewhat already strained mental health. Along with trouble getting used to the new form of living, the building insecurities about your brand new look werent helping much.

Some of the weight has been lifted off of your shoulders since bonding with the turtles, majority of it being since you've gotten close to the purple nerd in a romantic way. Even while you have still been just friends, you've felt the most comfortable around him as he's shown you that you can lean on him whilst he respects your personal space and boundaries. He made sure that he and others listened and respected what you had to say even while your voice was the quitest in the room. Even when you didnt voice it, he still asked for and appreaciated your input on whatever the topic may be. What more, listening to you telling him your opinion on his hand crafted trinkets or future plans has been especially dear and enjoyable to him.

As a mutant himself, hes obviously very aware on how you may feel about your appearance and tries hardly to show you that it doesnt matter what people think as long as youre still your good-intentioed self. It goes in hand that hes noticed your scratching habbit and, while it does pain him to see your unhealthy coping mechanism, he tries to gently, almost secretly, approach it and help you without overwhelming you.

You have been sitting quietly on the pillow overflowed bed in his room thats convenietly connected to the lab. The two have been separated by just a heavy steel door that even Donatello himself sometimes has a hard time pushing. Its been two years of your blossoming relationship with the purple clad and it only came as natural to start sharing the same space and move into the same room.

While yes, you have gotten better over time generally, but the anxiety that followed you before your mutation was still present. Managing it has been for a great portion under control along with not letting it get to you too much, yet one thing you seem to not be able to get rid of is the constant scratching your neck had to endure out of habit. Already having tried things like fidgets, cutting your nails, taking deep breaths of which none had worked, you've quietly gave up on stopping it much to your lovers dismay.

This week, tho at first glance avarage, had many small slip-ups that have greatly builded up in a large, seemingly burning, pile of cripling nervousnes that takes control over you especially when you're alone with your own thoughts. Sitting in a uncomfortable positin with your knees thightly against your chest with your arms hugging them, cold sweat seemed to constantly drip down your forhead and under your oversized found clothing. Eyes pacing in all directions folowing your brain, your hand secretly found its way to your bruised and damaged neck. Anxiety blurring your thoughts enough as to pay no mind to your harmfull doing.

It wasnt your first time something like this happened, and you were certain it wasnt the last. Anxiety attacks have slowly exited your life over time as you've worked on your health, but now seemed that youre on the werge of choking on seemingly thick air which would allow heavy sobs to escape behind your eyes. Your state has made the world irrelevant and the only thing you could focus on are the blury sheets infront of you.

Not having noticed your partner entering the room, you jumped and almost winced at his sudden touch of pulling your hand away and pressing it on his lips. "Im here" he reassured as he sat himself behind you enough to lean you on his plastron whilst still holding your hand. Even tho your state has easen at the thought of him being there for you, your hand gripped and burried its nails into his as if its beinf restricted. He didnt mind if it meant you'll calm down.

Slowly turning you around so he could connect with you better, you instictively burried your face in his neck as to inhale his ever calming scent. Patting your back he moved your head so you could listen to his much slower heart beat as to help calm you down. You've been together for a while and there wasnt any issues, but sometimes he does whish you would be more vocal about what you needed and when you needed help but theres plenty of time to work on that as long as your willing.

wrt that poll abt tone indicators thats going around.w ell first of all tbh i think some of the hatred for them comes from cringe culture. but second of all. some of the criticism is totally fair like there are a fuckton of tone indicators and sometimes . there really dont need to be. and the abbreviations can be confusing i try to type out ones that arent s srs or j. tho i feel like most of the newer ones were popularized on twt so itmakes sense they wouldnt be written all the way out

and like. why half serious or mostly serious or not serious when /j or /hj exist ? why /ns when it looks so similar to /nsrs, which means the opposite ? ive been using /s since like 2015 and /srs since like 2018 so ivegot those down and dont confuse them but i see why could be for some one who hasnt used them b4, why make it more complicated?

i like /g or /gen in theory- ppl have said its confusing bc gen could be general which i get, but for ppl familiar w tone tags tend to know what it means. genq is one ive used just bc. its fun to type tbh. and i think ppl get what it means but its not really Necessary. My not so hot, rather pessimistic take about the upcoming finalest final of AoT is: there will be absolutely no changes in the manga adaptation. We will get the necrophilic kiss, we will see and hear pathetic, whining Eren. Sadly. The only thing I'm hoping to know is: how the hell did Mikasa reach Paradis with that rotting, severed head in her arms?

Honestly I am still in coping mode, still in disbelief that the story would actually end like… well, that. And if so, once again, at the very least we will get Levi and Mikasa alive and well, about to reunite again and selfishly I will take that even if Isayama doesn’t redeem his writing 😭

And HONESTLY??? Zero clue how she did it. Maybe she put him in a plastic bag for the flight back home 😭😂 hELP

I’ve never thought of that, tho. His head would absolutely still be bleeding and rotting. Now for fun I am imagining when Mikasa and Alliance reconvene directly after that (you know they had to at some point) everyone’s reaction to Eren’s head would be… interesting, probably. Armin got emotional of course. But LEVI??? CAN YOU IMAGINE??? I’m sure he’d feel some emotion too but can you feel the disgust 😭😭 Although I do think Levi would hold that in momentarily, the same way he did for that soldier who died (he shook his bloodied hand) and same with Kenny who coughed blood in his face when dying.

I imagine after some time passes and he interacts with Mikasa — especially when Mikasa heals from it all — it will be a point of interest he’d poke fun at as they reminisce. “Tch. Still can’t believe you cradled a filthy corpse across seas. Made the plane smell like shit the entire way.”

If the anime does just stick with the manga, I at least hope we get a post-war reunion scene between the leftover alliance. I know they’re all kinda scattered around the world in those scenes but I’d be happy if it ended with actually showing all of them together at the reunion/Eren’s grave.

Speaking of which… I highly doubt Mikasa would be able to keep the head of Eren and leave with it tbh. From a national security POV that would not slip/they wouldn’t risk Eren still being alive or being revived to start the Rumbling again! So quite literally Mikasa shouldn’t have been able to or allowed to leave to Paradis with it.

SORRY, THIS IS A CHAIN OF THOUGHTS NOW bc now I’m wondering how TF people of Paradis would have accepted Mikasa and them back after 1) they betrayed Paradis and 2) after Mikasa killed Eren, aka Paradis’ only hope. 10000% they would not be allowed back, right? (At least not immediately) Or if they are it’s probably just because of Historia — even then, Paradis citizens would be up in arms about their return. Could see assassination efforts on them to be completely honest. 😅

So many weird things about the ending but again… GIVE US RIVAMIKA REUNION!!! But maybe in London and not at the grave 😭😂

WHY LEO DIDNT DESERVE ANY OF WHAT HE WENT THROUGH: an essay by me

ok so at the beginning of the movie he’s shown screwing around when he should be training, yeah?

okay, yes, arguably irresponsible, but considering it’s been 2 years since shredder and there’s no mention of any other formidable foes besides your typical Large Pig, Married Couple, and Bug Man, it’s understandable that he’s pretty lax about everything. Dont get me wrong, I totally get Ralph’s side! He’s constantly worried about a new threat appearing when they least expect it, plus even their regular missions can be life threatening if they aren’t careful

but dude Leo’s just goofing off and having a funky time, he doesn’t deserve the Epic Emotional Beatdown he gets in the movie

“Oh, but he’s just in general egotistical and braggy”

yeah. he’s 16. Donnie has probably broken the Geneva convention at least twice man idk. He’s a dumbass turtle doing dumbass things.

Then we get to the argument. What really gets me here is that Leo is visibly listening and taking what Raph says to heart- until the moment it gets too dark for him. Saw this pointed out somewhere else, but man really does use humor to cope. of course, in doing so he brushed off Ralph’s very real and important concerns, frustrating him

the fight over the key? Yeah, not his best work.

in his defense tho, if he actually knew the severity of the situation, he’s proven before that he can be completely serious (even while keeping his jokey persona) when things get more drastic. I truly believe after they meet Casey, things stop being about straight overconfidence. Leo goes into the fight jokey, but it’s been proven many times that he will often quip while putting his all into his battles, so that’s not the best judge of how seriously he’s actually taking it. he doesn’t insist everyone stays behind to get the key. he goes out himself, taking the risk because Casey is desperate to get it for really good reasons! I think his actions there- while somewhat reckless- would’ve been seen in a positive manner in most other movies. He’s taking the risk to grab the literal World-Destroying object.

then Raph gets taken

Leo has a panic attack, and he’s more visibly distraught than we’ve ever seen him, to the point where he gets actually, genuinely, dangerously angry for the first time in the entire franchise. He’s probably blaming himself for getting Raph caught.

His stubbornness next isn’t because he’s overconfident. He’s just so focused on getting Raph back, no matter what. He HAS to get his big brother back. Leo doesn’t consider waiting to plan, or retreating, not when it would feel like giving up on his brother. He’s blindly consumed by his fear and desperation. He makes a lot of bad decisions because of it, don’t get me wrong! They were Bad Decisions! But I really think they weren’t about ego, not really.

I’m glad he learned a lot of valuable lessons but I’m also worried about the like

MASS amount of trauma he has now. Like, that’s some Heavy stuff. The trade off of character development vs whatever all this new trauma and greatly worsened self-sacrificial tendencies (bc they already existed in the show and are probably going to get concerningly worse) might not be the best. worried about that guy

anyway I really want to see what they do there because that was a roller coaster and the long term effects could be really interesting to watch

Also does anyone else see a lot of parallels between Leo and c!Tommy from the dream smp or is that just me? Like:

-cocky/confident persona to cope and also bc it’s funny

-self worth issues lmao

-the amount of character development needed could’ve easily happened with like,, some minor trauma but no they get the whole sha bang

-ping pongs between overconfident and low self esteem and also “nothing is ever my fault” vs “everything is my fault”

-16 y/old brutally beaten by an unbeatable foe in an inescapable prison only to eventually get out alive despite all odds

aaa thank you!! i'm so so proud of stars especially because of how complicated it was. one of the frustrating parts about writing it though was that because of how complex it was with the different characters and motivations and the prose I tried to establish I had to be fully awake and focused to write it. I couldn't write it if i was sleepy or just not in the right headspace or else the story would suffer, so that was very annoying to me. still, worth it in the end though because the story gained so much from that.

It's all in the subtext: the conversation adults are actually having with young ADHD children

It's taken a loooong time for me to figure out how to put this into words right. I have always, always been mad about how childcare professionals and parents handle teaching ADHD kids coping skills. When you are 6, and a very nice teacher takes you aside for some calm down time, and coaches you on how to not be mad when other kids upset you or how to be a good listener to others, or how to compromise and do what someone else wants to instead, it never pops into your head for a second to question why, if your brain is the one that's sick, YOU have to be taught to understand and forgive everyone else for not being able to control it. It took me 28 years of life to figure out that the "skills" and "coping strategies" I was given to work with were all centered completely on not acting neurodivergent in front of others; on not letting my disability inconvenience everyone else. I want to share this hypothetical conversation from an ADHD 6 year old's perspective— my perspective, in hindsight. This is the subtext many adults and I were speaking in, that I never knew existed until years later after my own search for answers. It's the very deep, old root of a problem with many branches, from self-esteem issues, to communication breakdowns, to rejection sensitivity, and more. We are conditioned to expect bad things to happen when other people see our feelings. We are conditioned to believe we are being too clingy, too selfish, too rude, when we say what we feel. I can't tell a friend that I'm not having fun playing this game with him, because I feel guilty for not liking what he likes. I can't tell my boss that a broken shelf is stopping me from doing my job well, because I feel like I'm bothering her and complaining instead of finding a solution on my own. All of it starts from subtext like this.

Adult: Yelling and having a tantrum because someone else wants to share the crayons is not ok.

Me: but... Why

A: Because it's mean. The other kids are allowed to use them too. Think about their feelings first.

M: but I had a really urgent idea for a picture to draw, and I need them

A: That's ok, but you still have to share. Your drawing is not more important than that other kid's.

M: but.... It is tho? The picture is filling my head and won't go away. And last week you said I was bad because I wouldn't listen to you in class when I let something else fill up my head, so I have to get rid of it.

A: it's still not ok to scream tho. You need to use your words and tell the other kid that.

M: I did. He looked at me funny and said things filling up your head isn't real and I was making it up. He wouldn't listen to me, so I had to talk louder. Besides, I wasn't crying because I don't want to share with him. I was crying because I don't remember where I put the crayons when I can't see them, unless I put them down in the same place right next to me every time. I was crying because he kept taking them without asking and not putting them back in the specific spot I was keeping them. It made drawing my picture really hard to do, and I was really upset about that.

A: people don't just forget things when they don't look at them, that's wrong. you were actually just being picky about the crayons because you have a Picky Person Brain. Picky Person Brain kids always feel things wrong and get upset when they're not allowed to. You have to follow the special extra rules for Picky Brains, like simply letting people talk instead of you, and not being upset. I'm very mad you broke these rules.

M: I— I don't understand how to follow those rules??? Nobody told me there were extra rules just for me, that's not fair! You can't be mad at me for something you haven't explained yet!

A: I just did explain them, and they're special for you because everyone else already knows them and obeys them just fine. I don't think it's possible for you to to not know what all the other kids do; you're just being contrary on purpose!

M: no! .... Fine. What do you want me to do to make you happy again?

A: it's ok, Picky Brains can't help that they're hardwired differently than everyone else's. I just want you to pretend extra hard like you're not! It's easy!

M: sssooo it's my fault...... That I can't do things everyone else can....... And the right way to fix that...... Is to just. Make myself do them. And not fail, because that's also my fault. Just. Just let them take the crayons and hide them wherever they want and not say anything, because the worst thing I could ever possibly do to another person, is make someone else upset.

M: I give up on crayons forever then, since there's always a chance I could make someone upset by doing it wrong. And I'll stop saying what I actually need to say when I have feelings, because my feelings also make others upset. In fact, I think to be safe, I'm just going to say nice, fun things all the time for the rest of my life, so nobody can ever be mad at me again. I don't know fun ways to say "I'm hurt" or "I need something" or "I don't have the ability to do that" or "I don't like when you do that", so uuuhhhh..... That's fine! I'll just stay this far away from everyone every time something is wrong. They can't be upset with me if they can't see me be sad! Don't make people upset; yes, ok, I can do that. Problem solved!

A: ..... Yeah, exactly. Just don't be what you are. Picky Brain Rules are that you have to work extra hard to be super calm and emotionally mature about everything for the rest of your life; everyone else gets to feel and do however they want. Glad you get it now, kid— see, look how much I'm helping you fit in, and you can use the cool secret "just don't be mad" tip to be like everyone else whenever you want now!

A: good talk. We did something productive just now. I'm going to assume this conversation is over forever, and expect you to immediately change everything about yourself starting today. If you don't, I'm going to lose my patience and just send you straight to detention/time out/other punishment you won't understand.

S19 s6 & characters

(forgot about spoiler feature. edited to shorten)

I think in a way, the show had incorporated Andy as the protagonist better this season. The bunch at 23 was hard to root for. The disastrous 5b set a low bar, but I think it's improved considerably in s6, all things considered. We would never know what really happened bts and how much of what we were are results of the decisions were made by network execs. This season, at least they are building towards Andy’s captaincy at 19, and incorporating it into the storylines of the other main characters, in ways that address who they have been for 5 seasons. 

Many of the storylines were hard to watch as they unfold in terms of the discomfort level of the scenes and how well they were written and executed. The pacing of b/w and within episodes were a little off. Some episodes had too many loose ends that needed to be tied up, while some episodes were uneventful. Sometimes the scenes caused a tonal whiplash, and the editing made the episode itself even more jarring. It was a good season overall and there were some excellent scenes but imo I felt if some scenes were shuffled around, the season would flow more smoothly.  

The overarching storyline of mental health crisis was done well. Stefania's performance was always intuitive and conveyed so much w/o words. Danielle performed Maya’s spiral into a mental breakdown and her healing process brilliantly. Jack’s storyline was actually not bad, though I felt that it was carried by his scene partners. (I have nothing against Grey but his acting really didn’t move me…) I liked Vic’s storyline - the girls’ camp and her taking over Crisis One - a leadership position that focused on mental health. Barrett was great in expressing the gamut of emotions she experienced throughout the season, culminating in 617, when she finally broke down.

The mayoral race was ok as a tangential storyline. Dixon has been built up since s3 as the big bad, the SPD feud since s4 and Ross was introduced to fight the corruption within SFD and as Dixon's adversary since s5. Also what with the station being overcrowded with lieutenants and the boring clinic scenes. But it was not interesting. Seeing as S19 loves to create smoke w/o fire - Dean's lawsuit against PD, Pru's custody battle, Andy's SA lawsuit... the resolution seemed expected. I like not seeing Dixon again tho seeing justice served would have been more satisfying.

I hope Robel winning would mean a change next season. At least have good people in leadership positions and make the show more positive and aspirational instead of the constant depictions of trauma and the uphill battles against the Dixons. Give more screen time to show what a better world could look like, and show good people fighting the good fight having a happier life - at the least, having a life. 

I hope they flash out the storylines of the existing main characters instead of bringing on new characters and creating overarching themes and drama w/o satisfying resolutions (and glaring plot holes as plot devices).  Esp Carina's backstory, Maya's continued healing, Marina's domestic life, Vic's Crisis One leadership. I'm curious to see how the careers of Maya, Andy and Ross would evolve as leaders. Just want all the women to be badass at their jobs. Jack's found and bio family storyline with Marsha, Lila and Brooke could be interesting. (I don't mind him when he's not being weird and inappropriate or put into other people's relationships cos they don't know what to do with him.)

Some thoughts on the characters this season:

These characters are complicated, walking contradictions. I try to view it from each person’s perspective as much as I could - about a bunch of flawed humans with different traumas using coping mechanisms that have varying degrees of success or the lack thereof.  

It’s like everyone has been shrouded in their own fog, in their own versions of reality. 

I think ambition/ captaincy also somehow “unleashes the beast” and triggers the traumas. It is used to create drama and also bring out the underlying issues of the characters. Somehow, it seems to bring out their worst selves, the parts intricately linked to their sense of self-worth, their unresolved trauma and their unhealthy and ineffective coping mechanisms.  

Ben

Ben has always been struggling with juggling his passion and his supportive role in his family.  He was just realizing how he appeared to the others when he went rogue all those times. He was lecturing Carina about not following medical protocol, Maya about her projection of her personal issues on the Dixons, telling Travis n Vic to abide by HIPAA and later during the “mutiny”, he was the only one against it at first when he would usually be the one jumping in headfirst. Sometimes the irony was still lost on him as he thought Bailey was reckless in going undercover in the fake clinic while he always justified his breaking of rules cos he thought he was doing the right thing. I think it might be his mental health crisis arc after having to leave someone behind when he made it his mission to save lives after his friend’s accident. Is he re-evaluating what makes a hero?  

Travis

(In s3, a kid actually told him he should run for office cos he gave him an impassioned speech.) Travis being conflicted the whole time and dropping out and endorsing the other candidate is expected. He is an Asian American gay man who grew up in a Christian household with a homophobic dad who turned out to be gay. (Probably also in a tight knit and conservative Asian American church community.) His indecisiveness seems to stem from his conflicting sense of justice and inability to own up to his courage. And his lack of entitlement as seen from his minimizing the prejudice and abuse his community faced esp during Covid, in light of the murder of George Floyd. I think he needs to be pushed constantly out of his comfort zone for him to discover what he really wants and who he really is and also start to move on from Michael and seek happiness. He also confirmed that leadership positions did not suit him and he could not play the political game like Ross and Eli urge him to. 

409 was an excellent insight into Travis and Vic, and their friendship (and why this is my fav dynamic after Marina.) Travis calling Vic reckless, selfish, inconsiderate and lack of boundaries while Vic calling Travis judgmental, controlling and expecting people to behave a certain way. The irony of Travis finding it hard to move on while Vic wanting to move on quickly to avoid feeling the grief. But both cos they feel too much but cope differently. Yet they both fear the end when they are still in the thick of it.  

Vic

I think Vic was having a bit of an existential crisis regarding her work and she projected her own fears about her own relationship with Theo onto Maya and Carina. Their locker room talk was a foreshadowing of the other shoe dropping. Vic couldn’t believe how perfect Theo was… and the shoe dropped… we see the other side of him. She has always been using humor and gossip to distract herself from her own issues. She tended to stuff her feelings down, since she was a kid, her fears as a young black woman, and the grief of her losses - her grandmother, her drama teacher, Ripley, Dean... Until they explode - like her smashing tiles or snatching a baby during a Crisis One call.

I think this rough patch in her relationship would also be a part of her personal growth as this is her first relationship past the honeymoon phase. She has been trying to help Theo who has been supportive but was in a bad place mentally. It seemed that as the season progressed, she developed more empathy and became more in tune with the feelings of others. (In s4, she expressed interest in psychology when talking to Diane.) Going thru her psychology classes and being around Diane also equipped her with skills to help herself and others. She had shown her unique combination of skills in Crisis One work - her empathy, her quick thinking, her improvisation skills perhaps developed as a theater kid. But she would still need support as she dealt with her unresolved trauma and the emotional exhaustion from her work.        

Jack

Jack was abandoned and had and lost a foster family. He confused lust for love, like Andy said they both did. Each time he thought he fell in love and wanted to settle down, he was actually wanting to fill a void. The other party always knew he was not in love with them but in love with the idea of love and family. I think growing up, he learned to be needed as he took care of his foster siblings. He is kind, empathetic and helpful but he never learned boundaries and confused caring with interfering and often overstepped when it came to people in his life. Ironically, he lacked self efficacy and often succumbed to self pity and learned helplessness. He was never held accountable for his actions and never developed emotional maturity and better coping mechanisms.

His conversation with Travis seemed to show his self-awareness of the changes in himself - the loss of ambition and confidence. As I mentioned, it is interesting to see Brooke, a sort of nature/ nurture comparison to Jack. Similar DNA, dissimilar upbringing. Brooke seems more emotionally mature. He told Marsha that hanging out with Brooke made him miss his foster siblings more. I think it’s his lack of a constant in his life, of the time when he first had a family. So meeting Lila is very significant for him and seems like an anchor for him to grow and heal. (I don’t hate him, I just hate that the writers need to have him hijack the storylines of others and make him the hero and when he makes mistakes, he is somehow the victim when he tends to put the blame on others instead of owning up.)

Maya, Andy and Jack

Going back to the captaincy drama in s3 involving Maya, Andy and Jack (which is another long discussion but all three were at fault then, others too…) Having gone thru their mental health crisis recently, Maya and Jack are taking a step back in their ambition and focusing on their mental health and the relationships in their lives. Andy is back in the game, this time against different players.

Maya and Theo

To me, there seemed to be some // drawn b/w Maya and Theo. Theo as a POC and his burden of carrying his dad’s legacy. Maya as a queer woman in firefighting and her strict conditioning by her abusive dad. They both have a chip on their shoulders following their stints as captains. Maya was right about Theo projecting his experience on hers cos he would not understand the misogyny. Just like Maya wouldn’t understand the racial prejudice he must have faced. But their demotions were different in nature. Maya cared about her team and tried her best when she was captain. Just like Theo. Maya’s start was rocky and she didn’t really have the guidance of her superiors nor the team’s support, esp. Andy’s. Theo had both but he was stuck in his own head a lot with his unresolved trauma over Michael’s death and his doubt about his ability as a captain. 

Theo

When Beckett was captain, Theo was constantly insubordinate and challenging him. When Andy was trying to help, he saw it as her being insubordinate and the team’s actions as sabotage. To make up for his insecurities as an outsider and his imposter syndrome as captain, he overcompensated. In wanting to be the opposite of Beckett, he micromanaged and overcompensated to an extent that made him a bad captain in another way. 

I think as we are seeing the other side of Theo, Vic is too. He also has this side that is judgmental, self-righteous and lacks self-awareness and empathy. He has a tendency to jump to conclusions and stick to them vehemently. He defied a direct order, pulled a cowboy move and forgot about Vic - after his angry lecturing of Maya and Beckett. He accepted the captain’s position despite reiterating that he didn’t want it. But he did not give Vic credit for the fire investigation despite her substantial role in it. He could be condescending, sexist and dismissive, as evident at the barber shop. He complained that Vic wasn’t understanding and compassionate but was dismissive of her feelings and was defensive when she tried to understand. He shut her down and called her “Diane” as an insult and avoided her in fear that she would psychoanalyze him and he had to face his issues. 

I think he has been compartmentalizing the parts of his identity - his heritage, the way he behaved around his old neighbors and the way he presented himself to the wider world. Code-switching, as Vic pointed out. He seemed to want to keep his private persona “Theo” separate from his work persona “Ruiz”. But he was also micromanaging his relationship with Vic. He wanted to control their interactions and made everything about him. He interpreted her support of him as interfering and her support of Andy as betrayal. (I love Ripley and Dean but he kinda grew on me and I really want to root for him for Vic's sake, but it got harder and harder. Sometimes he was worse than Sullivan. The finale seemed to set up a redemption arc for him in s7.)

Andy

Andy’s support of Theo was as much about her being reciprocal as it was about her own growth. She has always been good with people - starting with dealing with Pruitt and being surrounded by a large family than the uncles at S19 as she was growing up. It doesn't seem like she has stepped out of Pruitt’s shadow entirely. Growing up with Pruitt, an overbearing dad w/o respect for boundaries, she is used to resisting and rebelling. She is still constantly challenging rules and her leaders. But she used to bring her personal affairs and emotions into work and could be rash and reckless. She was often jumping into situations without much consideration cos she was eager to save people. She did it when Sullivan was captain and during Maya’s initial captaincy. She pinned Rigo’s accident entirely on Maya but after Cooper’s accident, she told Theo not to immediately throw Beckett under the bus. In her marriage to Sullivan, she learnt to support others as well as learning to stand up for herself more, against his controlling and patronizing ways. After honing her skills at 23, she is increasingly able to keep her own emotions in check at work while handling all the big egos and personalities around her and rally people to take action. 

Andy, Theo, Beckett

But since her return to 19, she had been going about things her way - to make 19 the way it used to be to her. In a way that Maya fights hard not to be like Lane, Andy wants to be like Pruitt and continue his legacy. When Beckett and Theo were captains, she often challenged them and was insubordinate. Beckett was too careless, apathetic and slow to react and sloppy in execution. Theo was too careful to the extent of micromanaging, closed off and too afraid to take action. Andy and Theo seem to be two sides of the same coin, both being legacy kids with something to prove. They are both not fully confident in their leadership. While Andy is more flexible and open to other perspectives in her decision-making while Theo is the opposite. Andy often reacts before she thinks, which sometimes situations do call for and she has good intuition in fast-evolving situations. All their styles could put both the rescuers and the rescuees in danger. All three are not ideal captains in different ways. 

For the sake of comparison, in Maya’s later captaincy, she was level-headed, was open to her experienced team’s input to make more informed decisions and could see the bigger picture and did what was right and for the greater good. She cared for her team and the people she was helping, unlike Beckett. She was fast on her feet and intuitive like Andy. She was careful like Theo.   

I want Andy to be captain. I want her to have the chance to grow into it. She has earned it. (Also it has been her storyline since the very first episode and I wish the captaincy drama would finally be put to rest.) I think Andy not accepting the interim captain position could in part be her self-sabotage as women tended to do when they were not convinced they were fully qualified. While men often thought they were qualified when that was not the case. Like Sullivan, who had no qualms applying for battalion chief when he was still a lieutenant or to step forward for captaincy again despite his history. 

Ross

Ross is a complex character. As a chief who has a relationship with her subordinate, a parallel can be drawn with Ripley. As a WOC, parallels can be drawn with Herrera and Hughes. She is also where Bishop wants to be in future, a female chief. To me, she is a good chief. Not a great one yet. I think the intention is to make her meet 19, have them challenge her existing beliefs and grow into a great chief. She is still straddling her entrenched mindset as part of the problematic system and her growing desire to challenge the system. I love her whenever she went toe to toe with Dixon. But I’m less a fan when she let her personal life affect her work and became hypocritical, biased and self-serving. I think the last episodes attempted to show that she has changed, but imo I’m not totally convinced with the framing about her challenge of the system as a feminist act w/o also addressing the injustice Maya faced from the system, and from Ross herself.

Susan is not one I would ship as opposites attract like I would with her brother, Peter. I tend to believe that Susan belongs with someone who can converse with her on nearly the same level of intelligence. When I think of Susan, I tend to lean more toward book Susan rather than movie Susan. She is far more kind and lives up to her name - the whole thing about her character is that she doesn't like violence and has never taken a life yet movie Susan has killed a man and probably would again.

You and Susan are very similar and that romantically works out for you both.

This is different from Susan as this time, opposites attract. Kaz, from what I can tell, is very cold and off-putting. But I do believe that the right person can bring out the best in him. He avoids people and often tries not the mingle and silence is key with him.

But I believe that even just spending time in a room with him, letting him work and just being in each other's presence, that is what makes this relationship worth while.

You'd bring out a side in him that he had forgotten was there and that is all that would matter.

A1: What of the Meyers-Briggs personality types they most fit into? INFP, ENFT, et cetera…

Whatever an annoying one is LOL I think he could be an ENTP like Ruby but he's a little more emotionally/irrationally driven I think (it's perfectly rational to him, tho). I got ENTJ when I took the quiz for him. Sounds about right.

A4: Are they a pessimist or an optimist?

I think he wants to be optimistic and he does come off that way (he's confident that positive change will happen, he lives like he has many things to look forward to, he lives like he's NOT at death's door and does not even believe that he is), but I'd say he's jaded nowadays at the very least. Thinking that the only way to fix things is to destroy everything first, for example, would be viewed by most as a pessimistic worst-case scenario. He thinks its ok tho.

A18: What instantly irritates them or puts them in a bad mood?

Even though he's very social I think his patience runs short when his Perfectly Planned Alone Time is interrupted or when people become too nosy in regards to what he's up to. Side effects of putting on a front the other 95% of the time. PLEASE he needs time to BROOD AND SCHEME in PEACE.

A24: What are some of your OC’s biggest personal obstacles? This could be emotional, physical, social… Are they aware of it? Are they trying to overcome it?

I think he's struggling most at coping with his declining health and coping with the loss of his sister and the life they used to have. On the outside he kinda looks like he has this perfect life (as perfect as it can get in Region 0, he's the president after all. He LOOKS like he's thriving despite his sicklyness) but it's been full off horrors for the last 3 years or so and he refuses to talk to anyone about it because he knows no one will get it and he doesn't want to seem weak (physically or mentally). He doesn't know how to deal with the loss of all these things and doesn't know how to deal with the fact that he kinda brought it upon himself by coming here on a whim so he finds ways to blame it on anything else. Bad luck, Harvey, the Region At Large…… He's not entirely wrong but he's also not entirely right LMAOO. He kinda gained a Vague sense of fulfillment and power that he yearned for during his pre-regionzero crisis, but lost….everything else LOL. He's not trying to overcome shit because he thinks (KNOWS) he's right. He does feel less panicked though, now that he has a plan.

B4: Do they tip well? How easily can they be moved to not leave a tip?

OF COURSE he tips well he's a classy man. He'd never not tip but he'd definitely leave a passive aggressive note or a bit less than 20% if service wasn't up to his standards. Honestly though I think it's one of the things hes pretty laid back about.

B8: Is your OC considered funny? Do they believe they’re funny?

I think he's funny in a everyone-politely-laughs-at-your-joke-at-a-party way so like. Not extremely but he can get a laugh out of people LOL. I dont think 'funny' is one of the first things he considers himself but he at least believes himself to have a sense of humor. People also think his Canadianisms are funny but that's not on purpose :,3

B12: Your OC orders something to eat and gets their order done in a pretty wrong way, something they can’t just pick off or whatnot to correct, or something major is missing. What do they do?

He says smiles Excuse Me ma'am/sir it looks like there's been a mistake on my order, I actually ordered (xyz) :) OH no worries take your time. I actually used to work at my family's restaurant back in the day, I completely understanflkfhkjhfdkjghkdjfhgkjdfhfdkj

C5: Do your OC’s morals and rules of common decency go out the window when it comes to those they don’t like, or when it’s inconvenient? Aka, are their morals situational?

I think it's more that he never had suuuuper great morals to begin with (ok with lying to people if it helps the situation, ok with Getting Even, etc) but yeah I think he's more willing to use this for evil when he's feeling hateful towards soooomeone...... I think the questionable morals have always existed, they've just been somewhat neutral/useful in a lot of situations. he Is a politician after all.

C8: Is your OC more practical or ideal morally? I.e., do they hold people to high expectations of behavior even if it’s not realistic for the situation, or do they have a more realistic approach and adapt their morality to be more practical?

I think his moral expectations of others are relatively practical and loose and I think thats why he can get along with so many people. He doesn't particularly approve of MANY things but he understands it and is somewhat choosey about what he actually voices. he DOES have outrageous unrealistic expectations as to how people should act though. Never consistently/based on morals, more just based on what he thinks would yield the best result . Pisses him off so bad.

D4: Would they like to be immortal? Why, why not? If they are immortal, would they rather not be?

he would LOVE to be immortal he is so afraid of dying and being dead and not being able to annoy anyone on an earthly plane. No question about it. He's got too much shit to do and too many people to see.

E2: Which of the nine types of intelligence is your OC strongest in? Weakest? (Linguistic, existential, naturalist, et cetera)

I had to google this but i think linguistic and interpersonal would certainly be his strongest. He's great with people and knows how to talk to them. He's not very much a stem-y guy so maybe logic-math would be his weakest.

E3: How many languages do they speak?

He's only fluent in English but canadianisms dictate that he knows a basic conversational amount of french as well.

E8: What’s one of your OC’s biggest regrets?

I think his biggest regret is coming to Region 0 with ivy LOL. he believes it to be the root of all his issues and hes like 95% correct. its a huge regret, but to make up for it he has very few Smaller regrets <3

F1: What sort of home do they live in now, if at all? How did they end up there?

I think that prezzys get to reside in the capital building but I havent actually confirmed that.....but yeah he lives in the Office i guess its like the white house but Not. Prior to that he lived in his very own government-official house, which was honestly preferable to living in such a public spot but he deals with it for the fame <3 and then prior to that he lived with Ivy in their little house, maybe he had one more apartment or somethin in between living with her and getting a major gov job......

F6: How much do they work? What do they do? Do they enjoy it?

as a Public Figure hes kinda always on the clock in a way but i think his actual office work is like a normal average 40 hours. quite tame for a Region Zeroite. As the president he does.....whatever he wants :) he's quite ambitious he's very interested in interacting with the public and making policy. He was quite public-facing at his prior gov jobs as well so he's Used To It. he does enjoy a lot it hes a freakish Job Enjoyer.

F8: How often are they home?

not very often nowadays due to his harvey harassment field trips <3 but he likes to make it home by nighttime regardless. Aforementioned brooding-scheming-alone time ofc.....

G3: Does your OC find their family supportive? If not, what would be an example why not?

He has Feelings about that. He doesn't feel necessarily hated or anything but he does feel a bit like the cringefail twin in comparison to Ivy. she doesnt really do anything to make him feel better about it either even tho thats not her job. He's kinda competitive and its really hard to beat like. Perfect Angel Doctor Twin. HE feels less liked due to that but i dont think he actually is. As for if he finds ivy supportive during Region 0 Times, no of course not and she Isnt but i guess the time where he could actually be upset about that has passed. if she chooses not to hear him out about his plan to make them an epic life then that is her problem <3

G4: What kind of childhood did your OC have?

his childhood was tragically normal and happy. middle-class family, good relationship with his family, etc. he's always been this social too. going into his teenage years he never really had much Direction but that was never a huge problem, just kinda Emotionally Unfulfilling.

H2: Is your OC a thoughtful partner, in whatever aspect of that you want to cover?

He's very thoughtful especially in that he has a great sense of what others like and dislike. Definitely a gift-giving / acts-of-service love language kinda guy and very good at it and is good at reading how the other is feeling. unfortunately the thoughtfulness is not the problem its everything else </3

H5: Does your OC believe in marriage (or their culture’s equivalent)?

yes almost as much as he believes in divorce

H6: Has your OC ever cheated on anyone or been cheated on?

I1: What are their favorite kinds of flavors– Sweet, salty, sour, spicy, creamy, et cetera?

idk i dont think hes super picky but he does enjoy sweets. like fancy coffee, chocolate, etc kinda Rich and Complex treats tho hes kinda bougie like that.

I4: How often do they cook? Do they order out a lot?

its pretty much 50/50. going out to eat is often a Dinner Social thing for him and its always nice, but if he's not up for it he'll either get food delivered to/made for the office or cook something simple for himself. sometimes he just dont eat, his appetite is pretty Lacking nowadays.

J4: Is your OC the sort to fall for fake news? If not, do they ignore it or make a point to clarify that it’s wrong?

hilarious question. theres many elements at play here LOLLL YES he is susceptible to it because he's New Here and doesn't know the history. YES he is susceptible bcz he LOVES believing things he assumes even if they arent true. HOWEVER he also loves researching and reading critically and mansplaining about things that are wrong.

J5: Are they or would they protest for a cause they’re passionate about?

yes and In A Way he is <3 he's not often passionate enough to go do something about it but when he Is i think he is capable of making quite an impact.

L1: How have your characters changed since you created them?

tbh not a ton??? his design and personality is still quite similar (annoying), i think the most important thing was a matter of figuring out what exactly his problem Is (cancer, ivy dying, what exactly he's supposed to do about that....). so basically he's more evil now <3

tbh all i remember is i took kinda a long time trying to come up with a design for him. i think once he came into the picture it actually made room for plot to Happen bcz hes an antagonist n all but it kinda just Happened i dont think i designed him solely with that purpose. beamed into my brain.

the moment Childe see’s you bloodied up or flung across the field from one of its attack he goes ape shit

Kaeya sprints to your side, drops everything to see how badly injured you are

feeds you healing potions as sort of an instant relief? at least to stop your bleeding and keep you awake

but if you’re passed out by the time you hit the ground then he’ll just stay by your side and makes sure you don’t take any more damage/ you keep breathing 

devastated, they’re so worried about you 

immediately teleports to the nearest healers they know 

For the most part, you're fine after the healing but you don't wake up immediately

The healers tell them it's normal cuz you lost a lot of blood and your body just needs to rest for a week or a little more

They're so worried, they barely leave your bedside the entire time you're there

Blames themselves for not being able to protect you and they're just very sad the entire time

Kaeya's usually pretty level headed but if someone he cares about is hurt he starts neglecting himself a little bit trying to nurse them back to health

He'll stay beside you all the time and Childe often has to remind him to eat

Childe he's worried too and he think he'd be like Kaeya too, but since Kaeya's barely eating and taking care of himself he has to step up umu

They probably get into tiny arguments a lot? It's not like they need you to peacekeep or anything, Kaeya's just on edge so he ticks a little bit easier

Childe too but he wants to care for Kaeya and you and the least he could do right now is make sure Kaeya doesn't fall sick so he backs down from a lot of the arguments

Apart from their arguments they don't talk, again it's not like they need you to be there for them to talk its just they have a lot on their minds

Childe doesn't take his emotions out onto his loved ones and he picks a lot of his battles so to release stress he goes off on rampages whenever Kaeya's fed and bathed

I don't see him taking it out on his subordinates? Like he's more snappy and agitated but he won't outright yell at them

The only time Kaeya isn't around you is when his thoughts are eating him alive, where he's anxious you won't wake again or that he's useless he couldn't even do something as easy as protecting you

So he drowns himself in his work until he either finishes them or his thoughts get so bad he has to leave for fresh air

He doesn't drink now because he still wants to be able to take care of you? Like he can't do that if he's drunk

I think they'll eventually find themselves again? After one of Childe's many rampages he comes home to find Kaeya outside staring blankly at the pavements

I just think when their eyes meet they a lil bit to realise they're a hot mess

And Childe hesitates right because Kaeya's been out of it for awhile now and he doesn't want to do anything to make him more shaken up but he knows Kaeya knows he was out trying to cope to

And i just- Kaeya opens his arms to ask for a hug, and he looks so sad and broken but also so glad that he has Childe

So Childe ungracefully stumbles into Kaeya's arms

Shut up I'm in my feels I'M IN MY FEELS

They get it together from there umu takes care of themselves a little more

And when you wake up after they're so fucking happy

You're a lil groggy and everything's kinda numb but you're so happy to see them too

They scold you sm HAHAHA no mercy yeah you just woke up from a coma but holy shit dude you need to be more careful next time

You're just glad you're awake with them by your side and you bring them in for a hug

They promise to look after you more so something like this doesn't happen again and they make you promise to run or dodge next time tf be careful

Nursing you back to health would be the easier part uwu

They'll probably take turns take care of you though? They've got work and stuff too and they've already p much neglected a lot of their work while you were out

Lots of snuggles while you're in bed because they're scared you'll leave them like that again

A lot of kisses too and lots of i love yous too just to make sure you know that they love you a whole lot

When you gain your strength back they're more protective of you when you guys go adventuring again

so I watched the newest episodes of Scott’s for empires right and although I‘ve not been actively watching empires, I have lotsa thoughts bout it, mainly the newest, newest episode.

so yea :p

Gonna give some explanation to the plot (even tho I’m 90% sure anyone who’s reading this prolly already knows a good portion of this stuff lol)

Scott's really trying to keep people safe, that’s his main goal right now. So he then tries to isolate from everyone in rivendale (solid plan for the most part) but it ultimately fails and leading more people to worry for him and ask questions.

so he gets rid of the crown, the main reason people are coming to him, gives it to fwhip but it gets yoinked by joel

ok, ok, not too much of a problem and Scott doesn’t really care, he’s without that responsibility having already put onto his shoulders the responsibility of keeping his friends and people safe. which I feel like isn’t only rooted in his powers spiking and acting up, I feel like he’s still slightly coping from xornoth, feeling as if he somehow failed his friends by allowing his brother to cause a lot of damage on the server and now he’s doing the same thing

hes spiraling, unable to figure out how to stop his powers so who does he turn to? one of the only wizards on the server, who’s also conveniently going to be opening up a magic school soon. she should be able to help the, right?

she understands her own magic and since shes planning to teach magic she should thusly be good choice. especially since she’s quite laid back and seems like a good person to just chat about your problems with yk

so scott shows up with his dilemma, he wants his powers to stop, to be gone forever and out of sight. whilst gem wanting to teach and help Scott in a better way then just bottling up everything inside, wants to see if he can just reverse the effects, easy enough ask and she does it in the nicest way. their two motivations war with each other a couple of times during these few minutes he shares with gem.

gem brings up her little hypothesis that maybe he can reverse it and Scott immediately knocks her down, being so caught up in his want for normality to not see that she genuinely does want to help (although in a different way) so he’s already a bit frustrated. gem seems to understand his side but has this tone of voice that reminds me of when a teacher tries to explain something but in a “You haven’t tried hard enough to do it” sort of way, honestly don’t knw how to explain it (btw I haven’t watched gems pov of this so I have no idea if she has a different tone of voice during any of this)

so they try it, because scott is honestly out of options and just wants all this to be over, his anxiety already through the roof (due to mainly feeling inadequate when it comes to protecting his friends). they do it and gem is just urging Scott on, and in a pretty nice way but again this isn’t the answer scott wanted to seek so he‘s already frustrated and so when she urges him on he doesn’t it hear it as a sincere “you got this“ but more as a “your doing so bad that I have to say this”. he knows he’s supposed to do something but he knows that it won’t happen because he’s tried, he’s tried so many times to stop this, why does she think telling him to do better will help in any way?

so, because of the bottled up anger, both at the situation during the present and every other thing that’s happened that has stabbed into his self-esteem and heart just comes out in an avalanche of ice.

and guess what? the worst has happened, he’s hurt someone. someone who was trying to help and who’s a friend. he’s become what he’s feared.

so he leaves. all his worries of not being a good ruler, a good friend, a good person are now true. he’s a monster, just like his brother

its evident in the ice that now covers his skin, making the once touchable skin jagged and cold

its evident in his wings, once like an animal with warmth and soft feathers and now a dead thing, spiked and dangerous

he can’t feel the cold

the bottle holding all his unwanted emotions now deep within ice

tldr; Scott’s mental breakdown all stems from his anxieties over his brother and friends, and now he’s Elsa reincarnated

No, dear Anon, I'm sorry. 5H went on tour in Asia twice. The first time for the 7/27 Tour from March 23 to April 8, 2017, and the second time for the PSA Tour from February 26 to March 14, 2018, before continuing with the other stops. Mila was elsewhere both times.

2017: she was in Los Angeles from February 20 to May 22, 2017, mainly to work on the Camila album but also for the different events, interviews, and various commitments.

2018: On 26 February 2018 evening, she arrived in Los Angeles (PR pictures with Matthew at the airport) after being in London. From February 27 to March 5, 2018, she was in Miami. And from March 6 to 15, 2018, she was in Los Angeles.

So as you can see… Not to mention that it would've been too risky. It's one thing to be in the same place because of something like an event, and another one it would be to get caught in a place where one or the other has absolutely nothing to do with. I'll explain myself better.

Remember the Z100 Jingle Ball in New York City on December 8, 2017, when they were caught talking backstage? She sang a snippet of the song on January 17, 2018, in a live Instagram interview with Genius' Rob Markman to promote the Camila album (so you can go listen to it if you want). Like Friends Do is about the fuckbuddies situation Camren had. More specifically, it's about the beginnings of their friendship with benefits in 2013, because what they did wasn't a behavior like, indeed, like friends do. They continued to be fuckbuddies even in part of 2014 before Mila got together with the mystery girl because Laur wasn't ready to give Mila what she wanted yet; the relationship she needed. Do you really believe that if that sentence had been true, they would've remained friends?

Do you really believe that if Jill had really been hurt by her, she would've remained her friend? On September 2, 2016, Laur was proclaimed the winner of the Hot 100 List (Mila was number 3), and in the proclamation article, Camren were mentioned. Jill wrote the winning one, and since the girls were on tour (7/27), the interview with Laur was done by phone. The article from that interview came out a few days later, which was on September 6, 2016, and oh so coincidentally, on the same day, Jill posted a picture with Laur dating back to the previous year's birthday dinner so as to oh so very subtly confirm the story of ‘Jordan’ even more:

Ok so I just realized that I can send long ask so I will just copy paste my last meta here, it will kinda be a mumble jumbo wall of text so I hope you don’t mind

I have never personally perceived what shadow Basil said about us as he was deeming is as cruel or evil toward them tbh. Shadow Basil seems to be there to ground Sunny back to reality more by recalling him of the past and calling out his escapism to me more. Him saying “but after everything, you left me” is less him calling out on Sunny being evil toward him but more on him calling out how Sunny just mentally completely shut off from reality, him dropped out of school irl and become shut in paralleling to him building an entire imaginary world on “black space” and suppressing the black space as the light bulb locking other half of Basil who knows away, leaving Basil both irl and in dream to be left alone dealing with his own guilt.

You talking about Basil irl and black space Basil occasionally has the same overlapping dialogues of “will you forgive me?”/“do you hate me?” also raised up possibility of Basil irl has also said these to Sunny in the past thus his manifestation saying the same thing to him. Basil in dream world acting completely carefree and sweet is more of him just want to live in his idealistic, good old day of the past tbh (evidence in how 4 years have passed yet the citizen in the dream world never age, dream HERO still 15 years old haha why are you so small) and Omori acting “cold” or “strange” isn’t entirely exclusive to Basil either since we saw the same instance with Mari who was trying to guide Sunny to the truth at the beginning of Last Resort arc, as he is the manifestation guardian who “guards” Sunny’s psych so to speak and the irl instance where Sunny hurt Basil is when them both are in panic and fist fight each other to dead so I think it’s an understandable reaction tbh SFGHVJBK.

There is a lot more but the biggest reason why a large part of me feeling like Sunny doesn’t exactly “hate” or blame Basil for anything he did is also because the way the narration portray him coping with thing, he completely and utterly rejects it, denies it from being real, being “I do not see it” (the closet door lead to the toy book with his broken violin completely disappeared irl in his pov despite other character still comment about it, when Basil was tying the noose to uh do the thing Sunny chose to pretend that he did not see what was happening, when he witnesses Basil’s death in one of the bad end if you try to interact with the door lead to Basil’s room again it will completely disappear with Sunny notes that “there is nothing there”) than blaming it on someone or something else and when he finally forced to face the truth he just blames himself the most, how he just took away everyone happiness irrc

ALSO SORRY AGAIN FOR A LONG WALL OF TEXT AFHJGJJ

Yeah, I’ve already talked in my other posts about Sunny’s coping through extreme avoidance and how it intertwines with him burying the truth in his subconscious and so forth. It doesn’t cancel out how his subconscious does see the truth to the point that Blackspace keeps leaking into Dream world.

Daddy Longlegs mentions this, how Sunny and Omori do all they can to pretend they don’t see the truth, repressing as much as possible BUT Blackspace still ends up leaking into the Dream world regardless.

As much as Sunny’s mind keeps working to get rid of all that hurts him, blackspace keeps seeping into his dreams and yet he still seeks Dream Basil out when he disappears from his mind. This is counterproductive in that it interferes with his own coping mechanisms of “I do not see it” and Omori’s attempts at defending his mind. It tells us that Sunny’s thoughts and feelings are conflicted, he both wants to suppress the truth while his mind simultaneously has him trying to save the person that represents said truth to him.

Sunny and Omori want to keep the good parts of Basil in his dream, the parts that remind him of the good ol days of innocent childhood. Meanwhile, he tries locking away the parts of Basil’s existence that hurt him (Basil giving him the Mari idea, Basil hanging Mari, the monsters Basil sees etc etc) but he always fails.

Daddy Longlegs, the Blackspace void people and the tree in the deepest well tells us Sunny’s mind has never been able to separate his ideal Basil from the parts of Basil that force him to acknowledge what happened.

I kinda also disagree with your other arguments too tbh.

Like I said before, monsters with Basil’s dialogue keep calling Sunny a liar (like the one on the train) and Sunny’s subconscious he tries to represskeeps focusing on how he hurts Dream Basil: Basil telling him he doesn’t feel safe, the invisible shadows in the main room of Blackspace calling Omori and Sunny evil, commenting on Sunny’s mistreatment of Basil and their fears that he’ll do something to real world Basil if he’s not “uncorrupted”.

Sunny’s mind specifically clings to Basil’s “do you hate me?” + his apologies for a reason. Real Basil very likely said these things to Sunny this mind keeps going back to it for a reason. Mari commenting on Omori being cold isn’t the same at all cus Basil commented on it in a context where he was about to be killed and his next words are about how he doesn’t feel safe with Sunny.

When I talk of dream Basil’s almost angelic persona, I don’t mean just him being the way he was in the “good old childhood days” all carefree and sweet. I’m talking about things like how even when he’s being killed, Sunny portrays Basil in his mind as still trying to be kind, understanding and passive even to the things actively hurting him (like how Dream Basil keeps trying to be nice to the spiders even while they’re eating him alive).

Real life Basil isn’t only made of infinite beatific patience like Dream Basil is. He cries, gets angry and really upset at times, tells Sunny it’s not fair that Sunny left him behind. Basil calls Sunny out on lying about promising to always be there for each other and begs in desperation for Sunny not to leave him, once again coming back to him asking “Do you hate me?”.

Dream Basil is also shown as very helpless and someone who would never resort to violence. This is shown not to be true in the real world.

Basil will resort to violence if he feels it’s absolutely necessary to protect the person he loves, like how he physically attacks Sunny at the end, possibly gouging Sunny’s eye out in the process. Basil does this believing he’s genuinely going to save Sunny from the “Something” behind him so it shows he’s not just this eternally passive, soft, helpless being Sunny’s mind portrays him as.

Real Basil is willing to do anything it takes (including resorting to physical violence) if its for the sake of the person he loves most. It’s a contrast to how Sunny in his dreams goes as far as putting his ideal of Basil on this pedestal of “purity” at times. This goes back to how one the invisible strangers walking in Blackspace void tells Omori it hopes real Basil is uncorrupted or else it fears what Sunny will do to him.

Then there’s shadow Basil. He doesn’t just “ground” Sunny, he also reminds Sunny of the consequences his actions have on others. This shows that Sunny’s subconscious (Blackspace) acknowledges the truth even though real Sunny keeps trying to pretend it’s not there and Omori keeps trying to bury it.

These are all parts of Basil that Sunny doesn’t want to see and that he keeps trying to lock away deep in Blackspace so that only his perfect version of Basil remains in his mind. All of the trouble Sunny goes through to shut his eyes and yet when Omori finds Basil in the alternate rooms in Blackspace, it’s as if Sunny’s mind keeps trying to guilt trip itself over how he’s been treating Basil by showing Basil constantly suffering and dying in horrible ways.

So imo the points you made are easily attributed not only to extreme avoidance but also to entangled feelings of hatred, love, fear and pain. Sunny isn’t a completely innocent character when it comes to his mind and certain actions (being able to stab real world Aubrey and stuff) but that’s ok. It doesn’t mean he’s simply a villain, it just means he’s complex and with complicated emotions the same as most human beings.

Of course at the end Sunny blames himself the most, I talked about this in my first post too. It’s by then that he’s accepted his main role in the tragedy with Mari (the fact it was an accident, Basils good intentions, why he isolated himself, etc) and he’s moving towards facing the most painful parts of it. That’s part of the whole point.

None of this means Sunny generally just cruel or callous, of course. Again, I’ve already said before that this doesn’t make Sunny objectively “evil” or anything of the sort. His own mind is the one calling him evil due to all his guilt and so on.

Things I Watched/Listened/Read These Past Few Days

So, I had a rather stressful month due to an assignment deadend - things are ok now - and I have decided I would watch or read or listen to any media I could, at least once a day, to cool down.

The movies on this post are the ones I watched to cope with the stress. I will be talking more about them as each of them go, if I liked them or not and etc. This is not a critical post, though, it's more... idk personal.

1. The Secret of Kells

It is Cartoon Saloon's first movie ever. It's story is simple and you may not understand the importance of the Book of Kells without some historical background, but you will be able to enjoy it either way. My favorite scene is when Aisling starts singing and aaaaaaa it's too much. Gorgeous.

My only problem though... was that one black character's design. It seemed too close to the Black FaceTM. I got kinda turned off by it.

2. Wolfwalkers

Yeah, I know, I know I should have watched it in a manner to support the artists the way they deserve to be supported and I really wish I could have done that. Either way, it is a beautifully animated film and to anyone able to afford Apple TV+, I highly beg you to support this movie and watch it. There is a HEART to it, a soul I've been missing in animated movies and only occasionally see.

You may think you figured out the entire plot from the trailers, but there is one aditional plot tied to it involving Mébh and I enjoyed the surprise of it. The movie is beautifully animated, I love the accents the characters have even if I need to force myself more to understand them - you see, I am not a native speaker and always listened more to a 'standard' american accent so hearing irish for the first time was hard. I figured it out though!! Am really proud.

Pleasepleaseplease support this movie is what I'm saying.

3. Ponyo

IT'S SUCH A CUTE STUDIO GHIBLI MOVIE I SHOULD HAVE WATCHED IT SOONER AJSJDJEJEWJD

I wish we could have known more about Ponyo's family, but other than that I really enjoyed seeing what happened on-screen and how it was delivered. It's a cute tale. Manages to be creative and simple at the same time??? Don't expect much more than cute and simple and GORGEOUSLY ANIMATED though

4. The Old Guard

Listen, I know they did it very differently than the comics - but sometimes you just want to see some immortal gays being badass you know :,)

It's hard to point what I love more about the movie. Cinematography, the creative idea (although we should thank the comic writers for that), the characters, their struggles, representation and they even ground the immortality superpower. I don't know how they do that but every action scene is tense even if you know they can not die. You just wonder if they will be ok. I don't know how they did that!

5. Oliver Twist (2005)

I do not know the public reception of this, but I have been curious as to Oliver Twist since I heard of Disney's Oliver and Company inspiration. Therefore, once Prime added it then the oportunity came and I really liked it. I know it is narrated with a humorous tone but I do feel like it's descriptions of the horrors the main character faces were all right, I might as well have learned something.

It follows what many already know as the book - I haven't read it personally, therefore I do not know if it is a trustworthy adaptation - and we have Edward Hardwicke. Just. Edward Hardwicke.

6. The Mystery of the Sleepy Hollow

I did enjoy this movie, doesn't mean I liked everything about it. I did think the main character jumped into conclusions often, as if the script could not decide if he should be competent or incompetent and it really bothered me. I do am a sucker for a mix between horror and mystery, though, and thus did not mind watching this one at Halloween night.

Also, main character passes out at least 4 times in this thing - can you see this is based on gothic literature yet?

7. BBC Radio 4's "A Study in Scarlet"

It's a nice adaptation with many aditional moments that really warm your heart. Reading Holmes being excited is one thing - listening is a whole other and I love how his voice sounds in this one. He speaks fast but it's easy to understand and hIS TONE OF VOICE IS HIGHER THAN YOUR USUAL ADAPTATION, LIKE WATSON CONSTANTLY POINTS OUT IN THE BOOKS

Stamford gets aditional moments aswell, and they are great.

8. Upside Down

I have been curious about this movie since my father watched it back in 2013. I remembered the name and the basic premise for all these years - because I thought it was unique. I never watched it before because I thought it would be a cheesy romance movie bUT-

It has an unique worldbuilding and I love it. I even liked how the camera angles made me kinda umconfy because can you imagine talking to someone who's upside down LMAO. It's world have limits too, and I really appreciate that.

I simply did not understand how can someone get pregnant in Eden's situation but 😳 who am I to question 😳. I also wish Eden could have had more of a presence too, like I wish I could have seen more of her even with her amnesia :( I felt she had one of the weakest characterizations. I wish we could have seen Adam and Eden talking to each other more, seeing they slowly grow into lovers. I also didn't like how much exposition it had as well, like I did not understand the first 5 minutes of the movie at ALL.

Still enjoyed it tho. It's just... kinda average but thats ok i guess

9. Bojack Horseman S04EP09 “Ruthie”

Massive comfort episode! I must have watched Ruthie more than any other Bojack Horseman episode, to be honest.

This episode is just a huge bad day for Princess Carolyn and the way she copes with it and how it is incorporated into the story is... beautiful and tragic. I love Princess Carolyn-centered episodes, and even though this one isn't compared to the trend this series has of making a fantastic Episode 11 for each season, it is still enjoyable and sad. That and I did have a small giggle at the miscarriage jokes, I'm so fucking sorry.

10. Brooklyn 99 Pilot Episode

(Of course this image is not from that episode I just find this scene funny)

I had watched Brooklyn 99 before - but it's been a long time since I've seen the first episode that ever aired. I really enjoyed it and it did make my mother and I chuckle a little bit.

God, I need to keep up with this series again; it's been such a long time since I stopped watching due to stress getting in the way lmao

I mean, I get it… if Loki should fall in love who better than his parallel. She’s different enough from him to have it not be too weird I guess, but it’s still a variant version of him. And it seems a little too forced. Like sure a crush maybe, but don’t you dare say love when they’ve only known each other for like a couple days.

My mind is melting. I’m so glad I waited to watch this in the morning instead of at night so I could appreciate it in all its glory.
