I honestly don't cause I don't care 🤭🤣. No seriously tho 🤣. I see two possible roads connected to those indirects. **For those who don't know, I saw that there are people who think they broke up because of what they assumed were indirects of a breakup on IG.**

Road n°1: that was all PR bullshit as usual. Sasha's on tour with Madonna again and the two of them (L&S) can't see each other, ergo, they can't be seen together to the public like before. Ergo x2, there are other ways to publicize. People need to learn to remember that PRs feed and thrive on speculation and gossip. So ergo x3, nothing has changed because it was one of the many ways to get people to talk about the PR. The PR is still on.

Road n°2: a merge of everything I said in road n°1 + what I said in point 2). Let me explain better.

If my hope that they've made a basic contract for at least one year's duration with no possibility of extending it beyond that can be the reality, then it means that they're running out of time. Why? Because as I explained in my Laucy 2.O post, Lauren and Sasha supposedly got together on the night of December 18, 2021 (unless we’ll have anniversary posts in the future) but officially, the relationship was announced on February 14, 2023, on Valentine's Day. February 2024 is not that far away. If that's why, December is right around the corner if they want to go ahead with that 🤣. But anyway. This means that they could've used the indirects both for publicity and to generate speculation as I said in road n°1, and to initiate the future official break-up. They could very well use the distance as an excuse for the breakup.

But again, who knows in the end 🤷🏻‍♀️. This could be an idea 😏.

It can be both, although it's rarer. It's usually the inside people who've worked on it with her in a personal way who are the ones looking for potential buyers. By inside people I mean producers and writers by the way. I'd also remind you tho that this is only possible if Mila is super sure she doesn't want a song anymore. Because if she's attached to it or just wants to reuse it in the future for lyrics or whatever, then the sale isn't even a thought.

1) Chronologically speaking, no. Neither Lauren nor Camila have ever released songs in order. It's more evident with Mila because we have a lot more of her songs, but they both release songs about different situations that happened even in different years. If they were to release them in chronological order, the lies would be all too obvious even to the general public. Instead, in this way, it's easier to hide the truth and mix it with the narratives and their PRs. It's simply up to us to put the pieces together.

2) In the AMAs interview (Oct 9, 2018) with Chelsea Briggs for Billboard, Laur said she'd written 40 songs. Of those 40 songs, and taking away the ones she'd already released, 5 were chosen for Prelude. In December 2021 in the interview with Zach Sang, she said she still had about 50 songs done. In the interview with People (May 26, 2023) (https://people.com/lauren-jauregui-on-working-with-ex-ty-dolla-amid-new-relationship-exclusive-7504696) she said: “I haven't really written a lot since 2020” and explained that In Between “It’s in between the time of Prelude and the actual official debut album”. And in the one with Galore (Jun 20, 2023) (https://galoremag.com/lauren-jauregui-releases-her-newest-ep-in-between-and-talks-about-new-music-love-whats-next/) she said: “These songs have actually been sitting with me since 2018/2019”.

Now what do I want to tell you with this? That Prelude and In Between are the same thing. They're part of the same era. Imagine them together as one album and not as two separate projects, also because that was her initial intent. Even the album we'll get will most likely be part of Prelude and In Between as a whole.

3) It may be as it may not be, my dear 💁🏻‍♀️. We're still getting pieces of their story from both of them, and Laur has basically just started, so 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Absofuckinglutely! NBTS as well as Shameless which is one of my favorites, although Shameless is more pop punk rock with a darker edge. I'd love it if she continued to do that and also to re-explore other genres. Like, for example, something trap like in OMG, or electropop like in Crown, or even afrobeat, something new that as a former dancer literally knocked me down, like she did in Ku Lo Sa. *Can you tell that I love everything she does? 😅*

And don't get me wrong, I love love LOVE that she’s primarily a pop singer. That's the main reason why I discovered 5H in the first place in the far back March 2016. And I know, I know, I apologize again for my disappearance but I haven't been well for 3 months and also have been in the hospital again for a week 😭. I don't want to bore you with my health, but I just ask you to be patient again for future posts 😅🙏🏼.

I was answering the asks in my mail when I realized that 2 of them in particular were asking the same thing. I started writing and the more I did, the more I realized how long it was getting and I therefore decided to split it off from the Q&A post I started and which you guys will have, and make it a separate one on today's topic which you can see from the title.

It is a pain, and not because you asked, but because of the PR. And not even for the PR per se, but just because it's always the same shit we've seen (and will continue to see) over and over again but with different people. But anyway, let's get into it.

Oh and, small disclaimer. Sasha's pronouns are ze/her/they and I used she/her when I wrote this. I'm explaining this to you guys just to clarify that I didn't misgender her, okay? Good 😇.

Let's start with the new and improved version of Laucy. Welcome to Laucy 2.O, my dear Anon and my dear 💜 Anon, and any other of you babies who are reading.

Sasha Mallory, born on August 6, 1988 (age 35), professional dancer, and runner-up on season 8 of So You Think You Can Dance in 2011 when she was 23. She's worked in many dance companies, music videos, tours of singers such as Madonna, Adam Lambert, and Katy Perry, and done much more. Along with her family, she owns and operates the Mallory Academy of Dance (in Bakersfield California) in which she obviously also teaches.

In my opinion, chosen precisely because of her sexuality (as Laur herself said when talking about the Valentine's Day post in the People article: “Queer representation is important”) and her profession because, unlike Laur's other queer friends who were already her friends anyway and someone new was needed in her life, Sasha's in the industry and travels a lot precisely for the same reason. She ‘understands’ that life. And she certainly benefits from the money made from the contract and, more importantly, the visibility in the industry for her work.

Having explained the basics, let's get down to the facts and the not-so-subtle stages:

The beginning

- Prelude. For those who don't know, Prelude premiered with a special global livestream via Moment House on October 14 and 15, 2021, but was officially released on November 5, 2021. It took them 6 days to make/film it. On September 11, 2021, Laur received the videos that she included by turning them almost into a documentary (with the help of Matthew Siskin of course, the co-director and co-editor along with Lo), and they started promoting the project on September 14, 2021. Before all this, however, there were the organization and the rehearsals to bring the project to life.

Lauren and Sasha met in mid-August 2021 (roughly the 13th) thanks to Coral Dolphin, the choreographer who took care of Prelude (and the tour).

To confirm the timeline, these are Laur's very first likes on their profiles (Coral Dolphin, José Gabriel Baez, Sasha, and Triana Steward), except for Aahkilah Cornelius, who didn't even have IG at the time, and Jesse Johnson who didn't post anything in general (not even anything personal) from the time they met (not even Prelude) until 2022 (personal stuff).

- From November 20 to December 1, 2021, Tour: An Evening with Lauren Jauregui. With Laur, Coral direction and choreography, and Sasha and José dancers.

The hang out no longer just professional

- First speculations created on March 12, 2022, after the insta-stories and that post (posted two days later) with the alpacas, with contribution of the tweet to pretend to mislead, but actually start inserting the seed 🧫 into people's heads 🧠:

A couple of appearances together with other friends: 1) at Banks' concert on Apr 6, 2022, along with *cough* coincidentally and not to publicize two things at the same time *cough* the announcement of Laur's participation in The Serpentina Tour, 2) at Coachella on Apr 17, 2022, *cough* she didn't go there with Lo and her friends, she was there only because she had to perform/dance with Channel Tres with whom she was booked from Mar 18, 2022, to Dec 31, 2022 *cough*.

- Sasha danced with her and José again (for the last time so far) at the Al Sol Blume Festival on April 30, 2022 (the 3 of them rehearsed from the 27th to the 29th).

Another appearance together on a boat with all of Laur's friends on May 14, 2022.

- Rumors reinforced by the trip to Cuba for Laur's birthday in which I'll underline, there were other people, friends, with them and her brother. *let's water the seed 💧*

We're just friends, people, isn't it obvious? *Please don't let it be obvious*

+ denial/fake protection

- Sasha went on the New York (July 27, 2022) and Denver (Aug 2, 2022) tour dates before continuing with her gig for the Channel Tres tour, and on Aug 1st, Laur posted that tweet just to add fuel to the fire. *let's keep watering 💧*

Lo wished her a happy birthday with a post on Aug 6, 2022.

- On November 29, 2022, Sasha posted a TikTok with the “Reasons Why I'm SINGLE” filter and on December 3, 2022, she replied to someone by saying that she and Lauren were just friends. Both then deleted. Did you have any doubts about it? 😑

In the meantime tho, other appearances together: on Sept 17, 2022, (Aliyah Niambi's insta-story) to celebrate an Aja Monet working achievement, on Oct 30, 2022, for Halloween, on Oct 31, 2022, for the Paramore concert, and on Dec 8, 2022, for Channel Tres tour date in L.A. where Ty was too. *👏🏼🙌🏼 a reunion with 2 PRs, yeeeey 🥳🤣🤣🤣*

“She like who she like”/The confirmation

- Snow Tha Product EVERYNIGHTNIGHTS PODCAST live streamed on January 12, 2023, in which Laur publicly said for the first time that she was into a woman, specifying “a femme, a non-binary” and choking and freaking out more and more in explaining because she didn't know whether she was defining her the correct way or not. Sasha changed her bio to the one she still has now immediately after: * we're almost there 💧*

- On January 18, 2023, there was the video on Lauren's Patreon Zoom as they played Uno to confirm even more who she was talking to Snow about, plus the fans' backlash and Laur's obvious reaction to 100% confirm: *has germinated 🌱*

- The UnitedMasters GRAMMY party (Feb 3, 2023) before the final push, let's call it the oh-so-unpredictable boom of the definitive confirmation of the Valentine's Day post (Feb 14, 2023).

The explanation

- In the Zach Sang Show interview released on March 31, 2023, she said that they'd been together for a year, that there had been attraction from the first moment they danced Don't Wanna Say, and that however, neither of them told the other anything for a while; Sasha because Lauren was her boss and she wanted to be respectful and Laur because she didn’t think it was mutual. She explained that she was the one who made the first move by inviting her over to her house to hang out. They cooked together and only after Sasha left very early, Lo confessed everything to her via text to which Sasha replied that she felt the same way. Laur specified that it happened the night before she left to go back to Miami because she still lived there and still had 3 months of lease for the house.

End of the important stuff (for now)

Now let's talk logic, dates, and bullshit.

Let's break down piece by piece the already checked and verified facts I've listed to you, with what she said on the Zach Sang Show, and let's see what's true and what's not.

1) Taking into consideration the date I believe to be correct, Lauren and Sasha met on August 13, 2021. Attraction from the first moment they danced Don’t Wanna Say: “The chemistry was just crazy. I was like, what the fuck is this? I feel so attracted to you”.

In addition to the promo for Prelude, there was no interaction or public appearance together until the tour.

2) They went on tour from November 20 until December 1, 2021. “And then it was like super low-key. We both had like a crush on each other but didn't say anything about it for a minute”, Sasha because Lauren was her boss and she wanted to be respectful, and Laur because she didn't think it was mutual.

After the tour, again no public appearances together until March 12, 2022 (alpacas). This, this one right here, is the timespan that interests us the most.

3) The first move and the confession: “I invited her to come over to hang out with me and we made dinner together and stuff. And it was a date in my head, but she didn't know it was a date. She thought we were hanging out just casually” - small pause to look at Chantal (her manager Chantal Felice) as she did other times during bullshit - “So she ended up leaving hella early” blah, blah, blah, blah, blah “I sent her this like, really long cute ass message and she was like: what?”

4) The explanation of when it happened: “Actually, that happened right before I left back to Miami. So we were here in L.A. and it was right before I left back to Miami because I was living in Miami at the time. So I had like 3 months still of my lease in Miami. So it was like the day before I left, was when I texted her and was like ‘this is how I feel’. And she was like ‘what the fuck? I feel the same way’ and I was like ‘what?’. So yeah, we had like 3 months in between. - Now we see each other when we can”.

Okay, that day? That dinner ‘they had’ the night before going back to Miami? It never happened. And those 3 months that she wanted to make believe were in Miami? They're not correct.

No surprise there since we know it's all made-up narrative for the PR, but do you wanna know how I know? I know because unfortunately for both Camren, fans save every little thing posted on the internet that concerns them and their lives. I checked. Laur's last night in L.A. was December 18, 2021, and who did she spend it with? WITH CORAL! They had dinner IN A RESTAURANT before going to The Peppermint Club (West Hollywood). The next day (the 19th), Lo was in Miami and returned to Los Angeles on February 5, 2022.

Here you can see the screenshots I took of Laur's insta-stories. One from her last day in Miami on February 4, 2022, with Mateo, the son of her friend Alexa Ferrer, and another one from when she returned to Los Angeles on February 5, 2022, which can be compared with the post Lo published on February 25, 2022, in which she was with her friend Britt (Brittany Martinez-Hewitt):

Here, however, Coral's insta-story (Dec 18) and the screenshot I took from one of Laur's insta-stories (Dec 19), specifically from the one where she was playing with Cleo:

You can also compare Coral's insta-story with the post Laur published on December 21, 2021. From slides 6, 7, and 10, you can very well see both how Lo's outfit matches and how it was the same night.

You can also see from Coral's insta-story how it was night outside. It's clearly visible from the glass window behind Laur. And now tell me, is there anything about this picture that makes you think it was Lauren's house or otherwise a house in general? And does it look like Sasha was there? Maybe hidden under the small table that was clearly only for two people and that makes you understand that no one else was with them? 🤣🤣🤣 Sasha wasn't even there that night! They didn't see each other at all! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤣🤣🤣 So what dinner had and cooked at your house the night before you went to Miami are we talking about, Laur? What in the PR and the alternative universe are you talking about? 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤣🤣🤣

Debunked the dinner, let's move on to the 3 months.

The timespan between December 18, 2021 (last day in L.A.) and February 5, 2022 (return to L.A.) is 1 month and 18 days to be exact. I'm gonna abound by saying they were almost 2 months if I have to, but it's certainly not 3. They don't match the idea that by “I was living in Miami at the time. So I had like 3 months still of my lease in Miami - So yeah, we had like 3 months in between”, she meant to imply that they didn't see each other because she stayed in Miami for 3 months. Yeah, she still had 3 months of lease for the house, but that doesn't mean she stayed there for real as I've shown you. And it can't even be that she was talking about another time period because she's never stayed in Miami for 3 months since she met Sasha in August of 2021.

On the other hand, the timespan between December 18, 2021 (last day in L.A.) and March 12, 2022 (alpacas) is 2 months and 22 days. I can again abound by saying that they were almost 3 months, but only to let Lo get away with it. This does match the “we had like 3 months in between”, but it also proves another lie at the same time.

Remember how I also wrote in the initial list that Sasha was booked to perform with Channel Tres from March 18, 2022, to December 31, 2022? Well, she hadn't left yet for the first date, which was Lollapalooza in Chile (March 18, 2022). So, if Laur was back in town on February 5, 2022, what exactly was the reason they didn't see each other for precisely 1 month and seven days (February 5 to March 12) before that PUBLIC hang-out with Lauren's friends (alpacas)?

If December 18, 2021 (last day in L.A.) and March 12, 2022 (alpacas) match the almost 3 months said on the Zach Sang Show, what exactly was the reason for not seeing each other before the 12th (alpacas)? After not seeing each other since that oh-so-real dinner before Laur returned to Miami, and especially after they confessed to liking each other via texts, do they really want me to believe they waited another month since Lauren was back in town to see each other? And in the company of other people on top of that? Come on now 🤣🤣🤣. After all that waiting, they would've seen each other the moment Laur set foot back in town if it had been a real relationship.

Debunked even the 3 months, let's move on to the part of the interview in which she said they'd been together for a year.

As I said before, the Zach Sang Show interview was released on March 31, 2023. It was filmed definitely a few days prior or in any case in the same month since it was primarily done for the promo of Trust Issues (which was released on the same day as the interview) and In Between. From that, since to Zach's question “How long have you been together?” she answered “We've been together for like a year” and it was March 2023, we can establish that by March 2022 they were already together officially as a couple. Or rather, already since before February 2022 given what Laur said about the Valentine's Day post in the interview with People (May 26, 2023): “We'd been together for a year by that point”.

Neither of them has yet specified what the official date is, but still based on the date of Lo's last day in L.A. because of the so-real ‘dinner and text’ story, we can assume that December 18, 2021, is the specific date on which they officially got together. Unless we'll have anniversary posts in the future.

So, if they've already been together since December 18, 2021, then why instigate/tease Snow during her podcast about the fact that she missed the opportunity to kiss her in the Piña video? Why push her so hard and on several occasions for other things as well?

***I'd like to clarify anyway that I've taken Mila completely out of the equation also because this acting as single people of theirs is something that has been going on for them basically since the X-Factor days (they did, they do, and they have to keep doing it for appearances, or simply when they're mad at each other 😅). All this is just me proving and exposing Laucy 2.O. Okay, let's move on.***

And speaking of Piña, on September 19, 2022, Lauren and Snow did the TikTok live to promote the song by also saying that they would've made the video as soon as they were both in town (L.A.). Which happened in October. On October 5, 2022, @jakehenrythgc posted a picture together with Lo on the set of the video (in the La Cita Bar: bar/live music venue/nightclub in Downtown L.A.). Laur posted an insta-story while watching the full video for the first time on October 26, 2022, and on December 19, 2022, the video was released.

So if the video was shot on October 5 when Snow missed the opportunity to kiss her, shouldn't that date be calculated in that year with Sasha? Was it crossed off in the calendar and no one told me? If Laur had actually been in a relationship for a year, she wouldn't have insisted so much on the missed opportunity to be kissed by another person even if only professionally. Although we could see in that very podcast how important 'professionally' is to Lauren. So important, she didn't even remember doing it with a guy in the Always Love video 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣.

But back to being serious. If she'd actually been in a relationship for a year, she never would've pressed and pushed Snow's buttons in that way on different things. But no, she instigated/teased her a lot of times by even saying other things outside of Snow specifically, like the fact that she likes to provoke in general even straight girls: “I love making straight girls question who they are” – “I'm just trying to see if you're really as straight as you think you are”.

And with those 2 sentences, I want to remind you all of something she said in Becky G's podcast (the very first reason why I'm here and you guys know me https://fa-by.tumblr.com/post/648191757219250176/there-is-a-light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel) and how these 2 sentences are yet another proof of how much bullshit she had to say that day to hide her truth:

Wasn't she the one who had an ‘issue flirting with girls’ and who felt ‘disgustingly uncomfortable’ because she felt ‘like a predator’, ‘the aggressor’, ‘the one who was like the masculine energy in the scenario’, because she was ‘always the one turning her’? Wasn't she the one who didn't want to be able to ‘potentially put off that kind of vibe onto someone or invade or like anything like that’? So, WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT? And even with straight girls no less 🤦🏻‍♀️. Please, Lauren, explain yourself? Explain to the audience 🤣. Justify the bullshit you had to say about Camila by succeeding in making a lot of CS leave. Justify the bullshit you had to say in comparison with the truth and reality you said NOW.

All the chickens come home to roost, my friends. Always 🙌🏼. It doesn't matter if years go by, but the truth always comes out 🔥.

Anyway, back to Laucy 2.O. If Lauren had actually been in a relationship for a year, she wouldn't have behaved that way with another person. She wouldn't have done any of that. She wouldn't have behaved the way an available person would. This even proves by itself that the relationship is fake. The fact that she did it during a live podcast and didn't give a damn about all the fans present, proves it even more. Tsk-tsk. In a relationship for a year, HA! Don't make me laugh 😏.

Not to mention the fact that Sasha was (and maybe still is) with Baylie Olsen. Now the engagement you mentioned in the ask, there's no trace of anything like that at all as far as I know, dear Anon. It'll be part of the various bullshit that CS and other ‘fans’ made up 🤷🏻‍♀️ as usual 🙄. What I do know and can prove is the fact that Sasha and Baylie met in early May 2019 during rehearsals for the Eurovision performance which then took place on May 18, 2019, with Madonna.

They were both backup dancers throughout Madonna's Madame X era including the Madame X Tour which lasted from September 12, 2019, to March 4, 2020. And as you can see here:

They started dating loooong before August 2021, which is when Lauren and Sasha met, and that they continued to do so at least publicly until April 2022, which is even after the hang-out with the alpacas (March 14, 2022).

And these are not even all the pictures they commented on and liked on each other 🤣. There are many more that you can very well go see for yourselves on both of their profiles. So “My first Valentine” my ass, Sasha 🤣. Oh and by the way, Laur was obviously aware and supportive of their relationship:

Going back to talking about the Valentine's Day post instead: “I kinda did it very whimsically. I didn't even tell her I was gonna post it” (Zach Sang Show) – “On Valentine's Day, I did it very impulsively. I didn't even talk with them about it first” (People). Oh yeah sure, because it's totally normal to not talk to your partner about something as unimportant as making it official to the world BEFORE actually doing it, right?

Miss I prefer to live my life off of social media and keep my private life private, Miss confidentiality, Miss privacy in all respects suddenly didn't care. Miss I keep having to pretend that I was outed in 2016 and not that it was all arranged, suddenly just didn't care about doing something like that? Seriously? Suuuure. Sure, sure, sure, Jan, right. No, for real, who believes that? Who can believe that that behavior could have been normal and not something planned/arranged?

Even this alone, does nothing but prove 2 things (again, back to my very first post and Becky G's podcast and all that fake situation they created that I talked about on several occasions): 1) It reconfirms for the umpteenth time the story of the fake coming out arm-in-arm with the PR with Lucrezia um sorry, Lucy. 2) This PR with Sasha.

Why? Because someone who claims to have been haunted by being outed when she wasn't ready, DOESN'T BEHAVE THAT WAY! Someone who claims to have been traumatized by that whole experience, someone who's not an ordinary person but a public figure and therefore double haunt and trauma, DOESN'T DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT! Tell me who, after all that, wouldn't talk to their girlfriend before officially posting something romantic-wise for the first time? Who wouldn't make sure she was okay with it first? Especially since, again, we're not talking about an ordinary person. We're talking about someone famous with 12 million followers on IG.

A person who's actually gone through that kind of trauma, would never dare to do that. It wouldn't even cross their mind because they'd have respect for the person they're with. They’d also take their partner's feelings into consideration. They’d make sure that it would be okay for them even if their partner's out and proud, because they would never want to make someone else experience the trauma they themselves experienced firsthand. And honestly, tell me, does this seem to be the case for Lauren?

What I'm seeing now, from the podcast with KITTENS actually, is that they're using the strategy of showing Lauren's change. Showing more and more how she's healed and how she's more comfortable and open with her sexuality. I'm very happy about it, don't get me wrong. It's about time she could show what she in reality is since she was 17/18 years old. And I'm not even saying it's not true that for years she'd struggled with her internalized homophobia and all the other problems. Hell, we know fully well that's true. And I also understand that she had to suppress herself and follow the narratives mostly to hide Camren, let alone if I don't understand that. I'm just saying that, what I don't like is the way they made her act. Just as it doesn't sit well with me the usual incoherent love propaganda that they've already used in the past. I'll explain myself better.

Oh and, speaking of incoherent love propaganda used before. Is it only me who noticed that since that Valentine's Day post, Lauren's started talking about Sasha in interviews in the exact same way she used to talk about Ty when she was in a PR relationship with him? I mean, no differences? No imagination for something new? No? Just copy and paste? Um, okay… I- um 🤔🤨 I'll shut up 🤐.

Back to this incoherent love propaganda.

If “We're so solid, and we have such a beautiful foundation and so much trust and love between us” (People), and if “the core-” of their relationship “-is love and respect” as she said in Shannon Boodram's podcast along with other things, then where was this trust and respect when she thought (?):

Zach Sang Show: “Damn is Valentine’s Day. I’m seeing all these people post their babes, I was like, this is my baby. Like I’m in love and I don’t care. I don’t care!” --- “But like I said, Valentine’s Day came, I saw all these cute pictures and I was like, you know what? Me and baby are cute. So I’m gonna post it”.

People: “I'm in love. We'd been together for a year by that point, and I was like, ‘You know what? Fuck it’.” --- “On Valentine's Day, I did it very impulsively. I didn't even talk with them about it first. I was just seeing people post their significant others, and I was just like, ‘Dude, I'm in love. These pictures are so cute. We're so cute. People deserve to see this shit’. Queer representation is important, I think”.

So 🤔 what I grasped from both interviews is that, she did it because she didn't care and because people deserved to see that shit because queer representation is important (although I agree with that last part), but at the same time (?):

Zach Sang Show: “The layer of fame is like a whole thing. But it’s so beyond that. I think the reason I keep my private life private for the most part, is because people are so invasive and projective”. --- “Especially people who say they’re fans”. --- “There’s those other people who just are so attached to you that they feel they have ownership over you and then they just like, trash someone you love and just try to make their lives miserable or make up things about them”. --- “That part is so weird to me, so I try to keep what makes me happy away from people who want to project unhappiness onto it”.

Oh yeah, we all saw that 🤦🏻‍♀️.

I mean, I'm being sarcastic here because she was talking about Sasha's situation, which is not true. But it is the truth in reality. It's the truth that applies in her life and above all with whom? *whispered echo: 🗣️ Cameeeela*

People: “Most of my relationships, I keep under wraps, just because it's really odd to have so many strangers have an opinion about who you're choosing to love or what goes on between the two of you. But I just want to be able to love them out loud and be able to share that with people”. --- “So, people's opinions don't really don't matter. Putting aside the part where I super agree that people need to stop harassing them (Camren) and the people in their lives, let's talk about “I really wanted to avoid that, but it was kind of happening anyways because people assumed we were in a relationship” and “I guess it doesn't really fully matter at this point”.

She really wanted to avoid that, but she did it anyway, because she guessed it didn't really fully matter at that point because people assumed they were in a relationship?? Really??? What kind of protection would this be????

So, wait, wait, wait. From the top.

She wanted to avoid letting people know because she wanted to protect her and make sure she and her family weren't attacked, then Valentine's Day came along and she thought fuck it. Fuck her own privacy, fuck the protection of Sasha and her family, and fuck their trust and respect because, given that she saw people posting their significant other, she whimsically and impulsively decided to do the same. She revealed their relationship to the whole world without TELLING HER ANYTHING FIRST because she didn't care, because people deserved to see that shit because queer representation is important, and because she guessed it didn't really fully matter at that point because people already assumed they were in a relationship.

I mean… WHAT?????

What in the world? What in the inconsistency? What kind of contradiction is all this? No really. Was all of that more important than her own girlfriend? Seriously?? No, I'm sorry. This is yet another proof of how fake and organized all this is.

From a logical point of view, it's impossible for me to think that Lauren just didn't care. It's impossible to think that she did it by putting all of that above her girlfriend's respect and trust. It's impossible to think they didn't talk about it before posting. It's impossible period.

This is Lauren we’re talking about here! Empathetic, caring, selfless, sensitive, and with a great emotional connection Lauren! The real Lauren would never do something like this. But anyway. The bottom line of this charade: supposedly met on August 13, 2021, months without saying they had crushes on each other, non-existent dinner the night before going to Miami after which Laur texted her that she liked her and Sasha reciprocated, and therefore they got together supposedly the same night on December 18, 2021. Throughout all this, Sasha and Baylie were still together even still publicly, and Laur continued to act ‘single’ until Valentine's Day of the following year (2023).

Make it make sense! Make it make sense, seriously! But no hey, we know that a PR relationship MUST create doubts in people's heads and MUST NOT look perfect at all otherwise people would get bored and not speculate about it. Right, my bad I almost forgot 🤦🏻‍♀️.

So, this is the timeline, dear Anon. As for your question “Why would Lauren get into a relationship with someone else who is in a relationship?”, in my opinion, the better question would be ‘why did Sasha agree to do this since she was/maybe still is in a relationship?’. She was/is the one in a normal public relationship contrary to Laur who has a hidden one.

For Lauren it's business and it's convenient for many things. It's a cover for Camren and the songs, and it helps her queer image. Again “Queer representation is important”. But Sasha? Who knows. As I also said at the beginning, she benefits from both the money made from the contract and, more importantly, the visibility in the industry for her work. For the rest, I don't know how it went.

Lauren was looking for a girl for PR. Maybe Lauren was talking about it in general as friends do, and Sasha volunteered. Maybe Sasha talked about it with Baylie who, being an artist and a dancer as well and who therefore understands that lifestyle, agreed with it. Or maybe it was Lo's old management's idea after seeing them dance at the August rehearsal since we know very well how gays think, and they anticipated the reaction that inevitably happened later with the Prelude live. Or maybe it was Lauren's own idea since she has more freedom in her choices and she proposed it to her. I don't know. I don't know this. There's no proof around yet. I can only speculate.

Fact is that I don't see Lauren in a bad light here. It's not the first time she's been portrayed as a homewrecker and a traitor. They tried it before with the Lauren, Lucy, Ty, and Alycia Bella (ex of Ty) square story, and they tried again now with Sasha and Baylie. I didn't fall for it then and I don't fall for it now. You know why? Because it's all fake. Anyway. There's no way to know for sure. There are several factors to consider. How much notoriety does the artist have? Are they an A-list singer? How much notoriety does the magazine have? Is it just an interview, or an interview + photoshoot? Is there anything else included in the interview to promote other than the music? Products/brands, feuds, relationships, future projects? It all depends on this and much more.

Like, for example. Is it an interview with a full fashion shoot plus high-level clothes and photographers? It already means that it's an important magazine and that the artist is considered as such and that was most likely wanted. Very important magazines such as are for example Vogue, Elle, and Vanity Fair, are themselves paying the artists and not the other way around. If that's why, in addition to the $100,000-plus earned, the artists receive free clothing, accessories, samples, make-up, and beauty products that they can keep as part of the shoot.

If, on the other hand, we're talking about less important magazines then it depends. (It always depends on the notoriety of the artist, but still.) If the interview is simple enough and the focus is on the music to be promoted, then it's very likely that the artist's team contacted and paid the magazine. Ditto if it's just an article without an interview.

If, on the other hand, there's something else to promote besides music, things change. But even here, it depends. What is this other thing to promote and how important is it? If it's not something really important that can generate lots of clicks, then it doesn't matter. But if it does matter, whether it's a scoop from a new love interest, or a feud with another celebrity, then it's the artists who get paid to release it.

For other types of magazines, however, it doesn't work that way. The mere presence of the artist on their web pages benefits them because fans or readers in general generate clicks. It's a double exposure for both artist and the magazine and therefore a win-win situation. No one pays anyone in this case because it's precisely a free double cross-publicity.

To answer your questions, well, none of the above. I want you to seriously think about something: if you had a one-on-one business meeting with your supervisor or directly with your boss, would you show up there with your significant other? I really don't think so. You have your meeting and after work, you call or meet directly with your significant other to tell them how it went. Period. That's the reality. Work is work, and you must know how to separate their work and their relationship because it runs exactly as it does for all of us.

Besides, although at the time Maverick managed the group for things related to the group as a whole, Mila was already personally managed by Roger, and therefore LAND and in this specific case Laur, was personally managed by Maverick. Both Roger and Maverick obviously answered to the labels because all labels always have the final decision on everything, but still, the point is that for personal things not related to 5H, Camren were managed by different people.

So as in the example of not bringing your significant other to meetings I gave you earlier, Mila wasn't present during Laur's PRs signings and agreements and vice versa.

I am aware of everything that happened and continues to happen to the girls, trust me 🤭🤣. Just because I disappeared from here for a while doesn't mean I didn't keep following everything 😉.

[I would like to know your point of view about the new PR?]

For independent artists in general, it's much more difficult to gain visibility and publicity without the backing of a major record label. Luckily for Laur because of her past, she already has a fanbase and therefore doesn't have to build one from scratch, but that doesn't mean it's a lifelong fanbase. Fans come and go for one reason or another, but it's up to the singers/artists to keep people engaged by any means necessary. Why?

Because singers/artists earn and get paid only because people like them. Without fans, there would be no streams for their music and therefore no concerts and tickets&merchandises sales, no interviews, no invitations to events, no awards, no visibility, no publicity, no nothing. Absolutely nothing. No fans equal no money and fame. No fans equal no celebrity. They'd simply go back to being ordinary people like you and me.

So, by “it's up to the singers/artists to keep people engaged by any means necessary” I was also implicitly talking about PRs of course. Just because Laur's independent doesn't mean she has the freedom to do whatever she wants on every front, especially since she's tied to the old legally binding contracts. The industry's rules haven't changed. Lo's been in the industry for almost 11 years and therefore knows very well that especially now that she's independent she has to continue to follow those industry rules to gain visibility and publicity without the backing of a major record label. The only thing that has changed for her now that she's independent is that she has more freedom to pull the strings on some things, and among them, the choice of her PR: Sasha Mallory.

Sasha's nothing more than a rebound for the contract with Lucy Vives. The new Lucy *and I hope they're a good person unlike Lucia*. Sasha is a non-binary friend who's attracted to women and is a dancer, ergo is in the same industry and therefore understands and can perfectly help Lauren on both fronts by also being part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Sasha's the new cover for Camren, especially for the connection in the songs. The purpose of the PR with Sasha is the same as any other PRs: attention, speculation, publicity. That's all, my dear Anon 😄.

Did you miss me?

Hey my babies 👋🏼🤗. How are you? Wow, has it really been that long? It's been 1 year and 2 months apparently and it doesn't seem so 😅. I feel like a part of me should apologize for the absence, so I'm sorry 🙏🏼 but, to be completely honest, the other part of me doesn't want to justify because this is just an app we use to distract ourselves from the reality of daily life 🤭🤣. So, for those who have been wondering, my recap is that I'm 31 now, I've been unhealthy/sick for several things, last year I grieved for my baby girl dog who passed away after 12 years (and who took a piece of my soul with her), I changed my job and I’m being mobbed by my boss every day 😅. The several most important good news? I adopted a beautiful puppy girl in September of this year 😍🤩 and my girlfriend whom you also know well came to me here in Italy twice; once for three months last year, and once for our 2-year anniversary this year by staying for almost a month ❤🥰😍🤩. Oh and, of course, I've started writing again as of today. This obviously has to be put among the good news 🤣. I won't hide from you that I've missed writing, so here I am, although I can't promise that I'll be very active in answering the asks as before due to my various commitments, but I'll try to be here more often 😉.

A snippet was leaked in 2016, but then the entire song was leaked on Feb 16, 2017. Mila started writing it in 2014 when she was 17, and finished it at 18 the following year in 2015. And when did she ‘say’ that she’d completed it? On Lauren’s birthday:

Little story for you. It was early March 2016 and I’d been in the fandom for a very very short time. This Camren fanart was one of the first I saw. At the time, however, I saw the original. As you can see, this one is cropped and the quality is not the best. I tried to look for the original which was of the same quality as the edited one that Mila posted, but I unfortunately couldn’t find it anywhere. The point is that I saw it. That one was created first. That one was actually the original. Then it was edited, maybe by the same person who created it, but I don’t know that. But I do know with absolute certainty, also because everyone said it at the time, that that one was created first. So, my question remains the same:

This song made me realize how talented Mila was, since she was only 17 when she started it. How much of a great songwriter she was already at the time since this is one of the first songs she wrote 100% on her own and without professional help. Then honestly the fact that it was so complex, made me like it 100 times more 😜.

But anyway, I advise you to mentally prepare yourselves because this is the longest interpretation I’ve done so far. Make yourselves a sandwich, or a coffee, or I don’t know, something that can accompany you on the journey 😄. Oh and, as usual, you can even disagree with me, but this is the way I see it 😊.

One of the things I love the most about this song is how cryptic it is 😍, and I think you know by now how much of a sucker I am for deciphering things 😏. So what do we have here? We have words, but something doesn’t add up. There appear to be holes. As if there were missing pieces of a sentence, right? Well, that’s because it is like that. Or at least, it is for me. On whole sentences, Mila only used a few words. So basically, it was as if she’d removed the rest because the meaning of those words alone, had the same concept as one or more whole sentences. I’ll explain better with an example:

“On my way home after work last night, I tripped on a really dirty sidewalk and fell to my knees by tearing off my new polka dotted pantyhose that I loved, and breaking the heel of my shoe because I was distracted looking at my phone”. Now, that’s the whole sentence. But if I just write “On my way home. I fell. Distracted.” in that same cryptic way, wouldn’t you understand anyway that the fact of the matter is that I fell? Wouldn’t you understand anyway even without the need to know all those details in the whole sentence that my distracted ass was on the ground? I really think so. Oh and, just to clarify, this didn’t really happen. I’m not clumsy and I certainly don’t work in heels 🤣. It was just an example I created for you to understand. Let’s move on 🙃.

So, what was Mila actually talking about? What is the meaning behind it? We have ‘Stay back, stay long’ which makes us understand both their usual back-and-forth/cycle/loop, and how Camila was the one who broke up with Lauren and that then wanted her back. When? When ‘And you, move on’; aka when Laur had found someone else. Oh and, the ‘And you’ is a question. You can notice it by listening to the way she sings it: And you? Move on.

‘I stress, come close - Move on, please don’t’. These two, already at the time (2017) made me understand that Mila wasn’t really talking to Laur. They were just thoughts in her head that she, however, didn’t tell her 100% for pride reasons. She broke up with her, saw that Lo was moving on, and instead of telling her in person how much she wanted her close/back (come close) and how much she didn’t want her to move on (Move on, please don’t), she talked to herself by repeating it (I stress) over and over again in her head. I understood this especially because the ‘Move on’ is a question and the ‘please don’t’ is the reaction to the affirmative answer of the question. It was like: Mila saw Lo with someone else and thought “Is she moving on? Oh, no. No, no, no, no, no, please no!”. As with ‘And you’, if you listen closely, you can clearly hear that it’s a question and that Mila says “Move on? Please don’t”.

Therefore, to recap. Stay back, which literally means that Mila told her to leave her alone/stay away from her, aka the artistic way she used to describe the moment she broke up with her. Then she regretted it. She wanted her back and wanted Lo to stay with her for a long time, aka for good (stay long). But what did Laur do? (And you“?”) She moved on (move on) [Sure, Jan]. And when Mila realized this (Move on“?”), she started thinking by emphasizing/repeating (I stress) in her head over and over again how much she wanted her close/back (come close) because, obviously, she didn’t want Lo to move on (please don’t).

Pre-Chorus 1:

“Hello, how are you? How you’ve been?

Lately I wonder how it feels to steal your kiss

Nothing much, just fine, I’m doing well

And you can read between the lines but God, I fell”

Ohhh, I can read between the lines, baby!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 All kidding aside🤣, I’m serious now. We have another little riddle here. A puzzle, or rather, a game. A game with sentences, a game with the various meanings behind it, and, above all, a game with personal pronouns. Actually, the whole motherfucking song is based on these three things 🤣. But anyway.

With the first two sentences (Hello, how are you? How you’ve been? - Lately I wonder how it feels to steal your kiss), it might have seemed at first as if Mila was asking those questions to Laur, right? Right. And with ‘Nothing much, just fine, I’m doing well - And you can read between the lines but God, I fell’, it might have seemed at first as if Lo had answered her that, right? Right. But then you’ll have stopped for a moment and said “Wait a minute! Hold on, hold on, hold on, wait a fucking minute! If Laur had moved on in the first verse, why on earth would she tell Mila to read between the lines right after telling her she was doing well? [Reading between the lines means finding the subtext/implication, and in this case, I’m doing well, means the exact opposite read between the lines: I’m NOT doing well] It wouldn’t make sense because she would never have admitted it for a pride matter.”

So you must have thought it was the other way around. That it was Lauren the one who was asking Camila those questions, right? Right. But then the confusion will have entered again because, again, if Laur was moving on in the first verse, why after the questions would she have told her that lately she was wondering how it would feel to steal her kiss? Why move on and simply not get back with her as Mila also secretly wanted (I stress, come close - Move on, please don’t)? It would’ve been a contradiction. And therefore you must have thought, “Okay, Lauren asked her the two questions, but everything else in the sentences was just Camila, right? That’s gotta be it. Right? Right.” WROOONG! It’s all wrong 🤣. As I said before, it’s game with sentences, a game with the various meanings behind it, and, above all, a game with personal pronouns.

This song, this whole song is a confession. A confession of how things had gone and how things were still going between Camila and Lauren. A confession that Mila made. To whom? Who was she telling all these things to? The freaking song title is the answer 🤣: Only Told the Moon. For Mila, the moon is a friend. A protector who watches over her and from whom she ‘goes’ to confide, especially when she feels alone.

So. I explained the game in the first verse, but what’s the game in the first pre-chorus?

In the first verse, Mila talked to the moon about what happened between her and Lauren by using the present tense. As if she was reliving the memories. But in reality, they were things that had already happened. In the first pre-chorus indeed, she used ‘Lately I wonder’; thing that makes us understand how some time had passed since the first verse, that is, since Mila had broken up with Laur to then regretting it while Lo was moving on. In the first pre-chorus, however, Mila explained to the moon the things that had happened in the period after the breakup. She explained to the moon how she was being asked if she was okay, and that even though she answered that she was, she actually wasn’t okay at all. Yeah guys 🤣, it was actually external people who asked those two questions to Camila, and not Lauren to Camila or vice versa. Before you get confused for the umpteenth time 🤣, let me go on so you’ll understand what I mean 🙃.

Read the first pre-chorus in this way by pretending that the two sentences I crossed out don’t exist for a moment, okay?

Hello, how are you? How you’ve been?

Lately I wonder how it feels to steal your kiss

Nothing much, just fine, I’m doing well

And you can read between the lines but God, I fell

Those are two questions and that’s an answer to both. And so far, so good. It’s very simple. I also explained to you that Mila in the song was telling and confessing everything to the moon, and therefore, this also excludes the moon itself from the sentences that I haven’t crossed out. But in the last sentence, on the other hand, we have the moon as a referent (I’ll explain that shortly), and that’s why I said that those who asked Mila those questions were external people. If you still have doubts about it, think about it for a moment. Those are questions you ask a person you haven’t seen for a while, and what sense would it have made for one of them (Camren) to ask the other ‘Hello, how are you? How you’ve been?’ if we know perfectly well that they were together 24-7? 😏

Now that I hope I’ve removed this doubt as well, let’s move on. As I was saying, in the first pre-chorus Mila explained to the moon the things that had happened after the breakup. She explained to the moon how people asked her how she was: Hello, how are you? How you’ve been?. And since she wasn’t okay, those questions immediately made her think of Lo.

You know when you’re talking to someone and your mind spaces out thinking about something else? Maybe because that someone said something that reminded you of that thing that’s distracting you from the conversation. Well, we know how short Camila’s attention span is and how easily distracted she is 🤣. But, while that’s usually funny because, I mean, it’s Camila, and it’s one of the billions of reasons why I love her, in this case of the song, her mind spaced out on Laur because she was suffering for her. So in that timeframe between immediately after the questions and before the answer, and because of the questions, Mila thought about Lo and how she would’ve wanted to kiss her: Lately I wonder how it feels to steal your kiss. It was like, people: “Hello, how are you? How you’ve been?” – Mila by thinking of Laur ‘Lately I wonder how it feels to steal your kiss’ to then answering:

“Nothing much, just fine, I’m doing well. I’m just as good as an ass sitting on a cactus, thanks for asking. What about you?”.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 All kidding aside now. Immediately after thinking of Laur, Mila came back to reality and, as you saw up here, she answered with the bullshit that she was doing well: Nothing much, just fine, I’m doing well.

Sometimes the people who ask you those questions do it because they’re fond of you and there’s really an interest on their part in knowing how you’re doing. Others, still those ones who are fond of you, ask them to you because they saw or already knew that something was wrong, and it’s their way of letting you vent to help you (sometimes that doesn’t work because you prefer to lie to them despite trusting them simply because you don’t want to talk about it). Then there are those ones who ask you just for gossip and not because they really care about you; especially if they saw that something was wrong, they can’t wait to know the reason to then go gossiping by telling someone else everything. And lastly, there are those ones who ask you just out of courtesy. Like, for example, the typical two-second encounter that happens when you see someone you know: “Heeey, hi, how are you?” whose answer is always “I’m good. How are you?” even if you feel like shit, “I’m good. See ya”, you know? These are questions that you ask others yourself as well. Everyone does and no one really cares about the answer because, whether you’re really okay or not, the answer is always “I’m good/fine/okay” regardless, because you wouldn’t talk about personal matters with someone you don’t trust, and same thing for them towards you.

In Mila’s case, we know that 5H were always surrounded by people. Especially on tour or on promotional weeks, they saw and met people every day. Their team, sound engineers, assistants, photographers, interviewers, fans, etc., etc. People in general. So, “Hello, how are you? How you’ve been?”, whether they were courtesy questions or not, Mila still received them every day even several times a day from different people.

Moving forward we find a slight change of scenery. This is where the moon comes into play as an actual referent. From telling the moon about their breakup and what happened both immediately after and a short while after it, Mila spoke in the present-present by addressing the moon directly: “And you can read between the lines but God, I fell”. Meaning: You, moon, you can read between the lines and understand that I answered those questions with bullshit because I’m not doing well. I broke up with her, she started moving on, I regret it, and now I feel terrible because I miss her. I know she’s kinda dating somebody else, but God, I fell in love with her and I want her back.

I had the confirmation that I was even more right about both first verse and first pre-chorus (and the song in general actually) in the years that followed thanks to five other songs: three unreleased ones and two officially released ones. These songs are: XO (I Don’t Miss Ya) leaked in 2020, Cry for Me officially released in 2019 as a promotional single for Romance, Must Be Love leaked in 2019, Used to This officially released in 2019 with Romance, and Closure leaked in 2022. That one, plus Only Told the Moon, is the order of the music timeline concerning the post-breakup period [XO (I Don’t Miss Ya), Cry for Me, Must Be Love, Used to This, Closure, and Only Told the Moon]. I’ll explain better why to you:

Camren officially got together in early April 2014 and broke up in late November of the same year (Camila was 17). To be precise, it was Mila who broke up with Lo. I’m not just saying that because I understood it from this song (Only Told the Moon) which was the first of those five we had (2017). I’m saying that because Camila herself said it two years later and therefore I had confirmation of it. But we’ll get there shortly. Let me follow the order of the music timeline.

So. Mila broke up with Lo. Their first breakup since they were official. Laur was certainly not happy about it but, she sure as hell behaved as if she were, aka XO (I Don’t Miss Ya). Lo was hurt and, driven by anger, she acted as if she cared neither that Mila broke up with her and the reasons why she did, nor Mila herself. She acted as if she was better off without her. Partially true because soon after, she found someone else to ‘move on with’ briefly.

Examples of what I told you in the song: Lo was hurt and, driven by anger, she acted as if she cared neither that Mila broke up with her and the reasons why she did (So keep your feelings inside of your head. I like you better when you keep em’ there. Don’t let me know, don’t let me know. Unfortunately, I don’t miss ya //// “Don’t let me know, don’t let me know”, funny how exactly two years later [2016], she asked her the exact opposite in Let Me Know [interpretation here, penultimate ask]), nor Mila herself (I don’t need nobody to make me feel good - & - Used to be xo, now we’re exes). She acted as if she was better off without her. (Appreciate it when you’re not around. I like you better when you’re out of town. Better alone, better alone. Unfortunately, I don’t miss ya). Partially true because soon after, she found someone else to ‘move on with’ briefly.

That, on the other hand, resulted in anger in Mila triggered by jealousy, aka I’m Pissed Off You’re Happy (“I’m pissed off you’re happy, you’re happy y-y-y-y-y. I’m pissed off you’re happy, without me e-e-e-e-e”), which in turn years later became what we know as Cry for Me. And now I can tell you when Mila herself said she broke up with her: (here, min 2:31) Camila: “I broke up with somebody, and I was like: ‘okay’. But then, a few days after, I would just see them- just looking so happy, so radiant, like, dating someone else so quickly; and I was like: ‘Wait! Like, that was so- I knew you were gonna move on, but that was really, really fast. Like, I feel jealous that you were able to move on and be happy so much faster than me’”.

So basically: Mila broke up with her and she was like ‘I’m okay with it. I did the right thing’. Lo, hurt, acted like ‘Better this way. I don’t give a shit. I’m happy like this’, and I’m also convinced that it was out of spite that she kinda started dating someone else. And Mila became jealous and angry. It was like, she saw her happy? = “Well, you look so happy walking down the street, don’t you, babe? - & - And you’re okay, you’re okay, how can you be okay? No, why won’t you cry?”. The fact that Lo wasn’t hurt (only according to her since Laur didn’t show it) from the breakup and her, infuriated Mila.

Mila learned that Lo was already dating someone else, and instead of telling her that she wasn’t okay with it, out of even more anger and pride, Mila told her she was happy for her = “When I said I hope you’re happy, didn’t mean it”. Then the increasingly angry and jealous reasoning started in her head, still because, out of pride, she didn’t say anything to Laur: “Never thought you’d be so good at moving on - & - You said that in this lifetime you could never get over me? Are you over me? - & - Who can make you forget about me? - & - I want you to cry for me, cry for me - & - And it’s time you know the feeling”. Lastly followed by the regret of having broken up with Lo and the wanting things back the way they were: “Tears in my eyes, yeah - & - Say you’d die for me, die for me. And if you can’t, then baby, lie for me, lie for me. ‘Cause you haunt me when I’m dreamin’”.

Cry for Me was jealousy, and anger, and pride, but also regret. That’s where Mila realized both that she’d fucked up and that she wanted Laur back. We can also notice the difference between what she actually told her “When I said I hope you’re happy”, and what instead she really thought “didn’t mean it ” & “Move on? Please don’t” of the Only Told the Moon’s first verse. All that, resulted in something else. The realization of being in love with her, aka Must Be Love: “Must be love. Or this wouldn’t hurt so much. And I wouldn’t think so much. And I could just give you up”. The Must Be Love’s falling in love, is a connection that we find both with “And you can read between the lines but God, I fell” in the Only Told the Moon’s pre-chorus, and with “seventeen when I started to fall” in Used to This. If that’s why, we also find it with “And maybe people like me love too much” in Closure, but let’s talk about Used to This first.

Used to This is about the difference in their behaviors between when they were fuckbuddies and when they officially got together. About how Mila was getting used to being her girlfriend. The last part, however, is linked to the other three previous songs (XO (I Don’t Miss Ya), Cry for Me, and Must Be Love), which is when she broke up with her, regretting it and then wanting her back: the parts in the song parenthesis “(I’ll risk it all. Seventeen when I started to fall, but we lost it all, and I just can’t believe it all)”. And yes, guys, it’s seventeen when I started to fall. I, not we. I think you know me by now and that therefore you know that I don’t say bullshit because, unless I’m just telling you my theories and opinions about something, I always do my research before speaking. But in case any of you have any doubts, here. It’s written in the booklet:

Now that you’ve also seen it, can you do Mila (and me too) a favor? Can you please stop saying we? Thanks 🙏🏼🤣. Let’s move on to Closure.

After she realized she was in love with her, the fear of losing her forever set in because, as we’ve seen, Lo was acting as if she didn’t care about Mila anymore (And I hope that you care, that you’re there. It’s killing me - & - But the phone won’t ring ‘cause, darling, do I mean a thing?) and she was moving on with someone else (Then you moved on and I can’t carry on). Mila still had some hope (I want closure. Tell me it’s not over (it can’t be over, it can’t be over). Let me live in my fantasy where you still think of me), but the more time passed, the more she was little by little losing that hope. And we lastly arrive at Only Told the Moon. Last song (so far) that encompasses that chapter before they got back together.

In Only Told the Moon, as I started to explain to you, Mila told the moon everything that had happened from the breakup to the back then present, where her having hope and not giving up was rewarded (you’ll see later in the interpretation). That, in the reality happened at the end of December 2014/early January 2015 where we even saw the appearance of two rings 😏. I talked about it in a fairytale way and therefore not saying about the breakup but only about a fight in the 🗯️ - ɟ post: [Right click on the pic and go to ‘open image in a new tab’. Go to the tab that has just opened, and click on the image with the magnifying glass with the + sign in it to see and read everything better]

So that breakup lasted for about a month and a couple of weeks. Now I can go back to my Only Told the Moon ’s interpretation.

So. Brief summary. In the first verse, Camila was like: “So, my friend (moon), it all started like this…”. (Stay back) she broke up with her. She regretted it and wanted her back with her for good (stay long), but (And you“?”, move on) Laur was moving on [Sure, Jan 🤣]. When Mila found out (Move on“?”), she started thinking by emphasizing/repeating (I stress) in her head over and over again how much she wanted her close/back (come close) because, of course, she didn’t want Lo to move on (please don’t). And in the first pre-chorus, Camila began explaining to the moon the things that had happened in the period after the breakup. Mila by still talking to the moon: “People asked me how I was (people: Hello, how are you? How you’ve been?), but before answering them (Mila: Nothing much, just fine, I’m doing well), I was attacked by thoughts about Lauren (Mila, to herself: Lately I wonder how it feels to steal your kiss). And you can imagine my answer was bullshit because, God, I fell in love with her and I feel terrible without her” (Mila: And you can read between the lines but God, I fell).

All very trippy so far, huh? 🤯😏 I know, I know, and we’re not even done yet 🤣. And by the way, how many times have I said that Camila is a fucking genius? Because she is! She’s fucking brilliant!! 😍

Chorus 1:

“I only told the moon, tonight up on the roof

I told her that I’m scared that all my thoughts they look like you

I only told the moon, about the way you move

I asked her to please tell me if you tell things to her too”

I told her. HER: the moon. For those who don’t know, Mila refers to the moon as ‘she/her’ because in Spanish, as well as in Italian, moon is preceded by the feminine definite article, ‘la’. It says ‘la luna’ in Spanish as well as in Italian. In English, however, the article is always the same, ‘the’. It wasn’t difficult for me to understand it at the time, and no, not because for a couple of years now there has been the fashion to use the she/her for every object even when it actually has the masculine definite article as most part of native English speakers do to be cooler (they’re really really funny to me when they do it, by the way 🤣) precisely because they don’t know the difference because of the ‘the’. Nope. It wasn’t difficult for me to understand it at the time, precisely because I’m Italian. But anyway. Let’s go back to the interpretation.

There’s another little game here. For this time, it’s just a change of referent. If in the first verse and in the first pre-chorus Mila was talking directly to the moon, in the first chorus she was talking to Laur instead. But in reality, she wasn’t really talking to her. It’s as if she were imagining doing it. Lauren wasn’t really there, but Camila imagined that she was. She acted by speaking in the same way that she’d have spoken for real to Laur if Lo had really been there with her.

How come I think Camila was talking to her own imaginative creation of Laur and not Lauren herself? Because n°1, Camren weren’t on good terms at the time as we understood in the first verse, aka they didn’t talk to each other. N°2, as I said before, this whole song is a confession Mila made to the moon. And n°3, Mila herself asked the moon to tell her if Laur was thinking of her too in the last sentence of the first chorus. If Mila was really talking to Laur, she wouldn’t have asked the moon to give her her news. Ergo, Laur wasn’t there and Mila was just imagining talking to her.

Mila explained to Lo, aka her imaginative creation of Laur, about how she talked to her, to the moon. How she confided in her. How she told her secrets. Secrets she was comfortable revealing only to her: I only told the moon, tonight up on the roof. Secrets that, as in this case, represented her fear of not being able to think of anything other than her (Lo): I told her that I’m scared that all my thoughts they look like you.

I only told the moon, about the way you move. About the way you move… Ahem-ahem 🤭. I mean, if THAT doesn’t prove she was talking about a girl, I don’t know what would 🤣. Yeah, the song is enigmatic, and Mila tried to confuse the ideas for anyone who listened to it, but this is the only part of the whole song where it’s clear as day that she was talking about a girl. Her girl. And we know that she’s talked about it too before. Two examples that come to my mind now are OMG: “When she drop it bounce back like a yo-yo”, and Crown: “The way you move is serpentine”.

I asked her to please tell me if you tell things to her too. As I mentioned earlier, Mila asked the moon to tell her if Laur was talking about things with her too. She wanted to know if also Lo was telling the moon that she thought of Mila too.

We have three subjects here: I, me: Camila – Her: moon – You: Lauren. I (Mila) asked her (the moon) to please tell me (Mila) if you (Laur) tell things to her (the moon) too.

So basically, throughout the first chorus, Mila (I, me) imagined talking to Lo (you) about what she’d confessed to the moon (her) about her feelings for Laur herself.

Verse 2:

“Silence. Too loud

Say it, not now”

This is exactly the same thing we saw in the first verse. The same little game of missing pieces of a sentence. The problem with this one, was that it was even more difficult to decipher. It was the most complex part for me to code at the time. Why? Because not only do we find here the connection with everything I’ve explained so far, but even with a part of the second chorus. But let’s go in order.

We know that Mila suffers from OCD. This is a topic I’ve talked about in many of my posts and I need to do it one more time. OCD leads to having intrusive thoughts. You can’t control them even if you want to, and that, leads those thoughts to be continuous. So continuous, that they lead you to obsession, which in turn leads you to act in a way that is too impulsive, compulsive, just to try to distract yourself and not always think about the same thing [obsession and compulsive, two things that we find in the word itself: obsessive-compulsive disorder, OCD]. That, leads you in turn to anxiety because the fear of not being able to stop those thoughts takes over. Now, doesn’t that ring a bell? Don’t you recognize those same words said in the song? No? I’ll give you a hand: “I only told the moon, tonight up on the roof - I told her that I’m scared that all my thoughts they look like you”.

Explanation I’ve now given on the OCD: That, leads you in turn to anxiety because the fear of not being able to stop those thoughts takes over.

Explanation I gave in the first chorus: Mila explained to Lo, aka her imaginative creation of Laur, about how she talked to her, to the moon. How she confided in her. How she told her secrets. Secrets she was comfortable revealing only to her: I only told the moon, tonight up on the roof. Secrets that, as in this case, represented her fear of not being able to think of anything other than her (Lo): I told her that I’m scared that all my thoughts they look like you.

Yeeep. I didn’t explain this in the first chorus because I needed this connection right now because of what I’m about to explain. But before doing that, I’d also like to add how we’ve seen those intrusive, repetitive thoughts about Lo in two other parts as well: 1) I stress, when she started thinking by emphasizing/repeating in her head over and over again how much she wanted her back, and 2) Lately I wonder how it feels to steal your kiss, when her mind spaced out on Laur instead of immediately answering the questions Hello, how are you? How you’ve been?.

Now. By Silence. Too loud, Mila referred to the intrusive thoughts of her OCD. The “Little voices in my head” that we also find in Consequences, you know? And as I said in that interpretation (in the penultimate ask): “By “Little voices in my head” she was referring to the intrusive thoughts of her OCD. Have you ever noticed that when we read, when we write, and when we think, it’s our own voice the one we hear in our head? Well, it’s the same thing that happens with OCD, and Mila was listening to intrusive thoughts whispering to her, or talking to her, or even screaming to her in her mental voice just as it would happen to all of us with any other thought.”

So, again, Silence. Too loud. There was silence outside. Even between them. Another thing that makes us understand they weren’t talking to each other. But in her head? There were those Little voices that were too loud. In this case (because we’re talking about the song and not Mila and OCD in a generic way), they were all about “Lauren, Lauren, Lauren”. Also because, as you’ve seen, Mila herself only told the moon that she was scared that all her thoughts they looked like Lo.

Say it, not now. Still in this case, imagine as if Mila and those Little voices in her head were having a conversation with each other. In reality, Mila was having an internal conversation with herself, but imagine that as Pinocchio with her conscience, aka Jiminy Cricket. The voices were telling her: “Talk to her. Take her back. Tell her you miss her. Tell her you fell in love with her. Tell her how you feel instead of only talking to the moon about it. Tell her how you feel instead of only imagining doing it (as we saw in the first chorus). Say it to her for real. Take the courage and do it!”. By shitting in her pants just at the idea, Mila answered: “Not now. Later on in time, sure, but not now. I’m not ready yet”.

So. I’ve explained to you the connection that there is in the second verse with everything I’ve already explained so far. But, before explaining the part that for me was the most complex to decipher, which is the connection between the second verse and a part of the second chorus, let’s move on to the second pre-chorus. As I said before, let’s go in order.

Pre-Chorus 2:

“So, how are you? How you’ve been?

Lately I wonder how it feels to taste your lips

Nothing much, just fine, I’m doing well

And you can read between the lines but God, I fell”

The second pre-chorus and the first are the same. They don’t have different meanings, but we do find two differences here: the replacement of Hello with So before the questions, and the replacement of steal your kiss with taste your lips.

The two differences don’t change the meaning of the second pre-chorus per se. They’re just indicators of the time that was passing. Mila was still telling and confessing everything to the moon except for the last part in which she referred directly to her. And if first she wondered how it would feel to steal Laur’s kiss, then she wondered how it would feel to taste Laur’s lips. First indicator of the time that was passing.

The second one, which is the replacement of Hello with So before the questions, makes us understand how also other people different from the first ones were asking her those questions. Nothing wrong with that. I mean, as I explained earlier, they’re spontaneous courtesy questions you ask people you know when you see them. Like for example when you and a friend meet for a coffee. Once the two of you have hugged to greet each other, and once you’ve sat down at a table, one of you usually starts the conversation precisely in that way: So, how are you? How you’ve been?

Chorus 2:

“I only told the moon, tonight up on the roof

I told her that I’m scared that all my thoughts they look like you

I only told the moon, about the way you move

I asked her to please tell me if you tell things to her too”

So far, it’s all the same as the first chorus. Immediately after, however, we find an addition that distinguishes them:

Now I can finally explain to you the connection between the second verse and a part of the second chorus. THIS part of the second chorus.

The first chorus ends with I asked her to please tell me if you tell things to her too. If you combine it with the part following that, which we find here in the second chorus, we get: I asked her to please tell me if you tell things to her too that I give it all to you. And tell me honestly, does that make sense? Nope. It makes no sense. So I told myself that it had to be yet another game. I thought, what if that part (That I give it all to you, I give it all to you, I give it all to you - I only told the moon) has nothing to do with the parts of the choruses that are the same? What if it had another connection with something else here in the song? Well, why the hell not 🤷🏻‍♀️. And that’s how I found it 😏. That’s how I understood that this part of the second chorus had the connection with the second verse.

Small summary of the second verse to make you understand better: Silence. Too loud. Say it, not now. There was silence outside, but in Mila’s head, there were those too loud Little voices she was having a conversation with.

It’s in that conversation that we need to add the second chorus part. And now, that conversation becomes:

Voices: “Talk to her. Take her back. Tell her you miss her. Tell her you fell in love with her. Tell her you give it all to her. All your love. All of yourself because she means the world to you. Tell her how you feel instead of only talking to the moon about it. Tell her how you feel instead of only imagining doing it (as we saw in the first chorus). Say it to her for real. Take the courage and do it!”. By shitting in her pants just at the idea, Mila answered: “Not now. Later on in time, sure, but not now. I’m not ready yet”.

So what are the new key points of the connection? These one: Tell her you give it all to her. All your love. All of yourself because she means the world to you. Tell her how you feel instead of only talking to the moon about it. Tell her how you feel instead of only imagining doing it. Say it to her for real.

“Tell her you give it all to her. All your love. All of yourself because she means the world to you” is actually That I give it all to you.

“Tell her how you feel instead of only talking to the moon about it” is because that’s what Mila did, aka I only told the moon which we find in both choruses.

“Tell her how you feel instead of only imagining doing it (as we saw in the first chorus)”. And what did we see in the first chorus? That Mila was imagining talking to Lo about what she’d confessed to the moon about her feelings for Laur herself.

“Say it to her for real” But say what to her for real? Answer: “Tell her you miss her. Tell her you fell in love with her. Tell her you give it all to her. All your love. All of yourself because she means the world to you. Tell her how you feel instead of only talking to the moon about it. Tell her how you feel instead of only imagining doing it. …… Take the courage and do it!”. By shitting in her pants just at the idea, Mila answered: “Not now. Later on in time, sure, but not now. I’m not ready yet”.

Basically, the connection between the second verse and a part of the second chorus, is an addition to what the Little voices Mila was having a conversation with told her. The game we find in ‘That I give it all to you, I give it all to you, I give it all to you - I only told the moon’, is that this sentence should be read backwards. I only told the moon that I give it all to you. It’s as simple as that. The Little voices, aka Mila herself, told her to tell Lo all the things I’ve listed, with the addition that we find here that she gives it all to her, instead of only telling the moon or just imagining doing it. 😏

Bridge:

“Ah-ah ah-ah ah-aaah

Ah-ah ah-ah ah-aaah”

Mila angelically sings this part twice by switching from the lowest to the highest vocal range. There’s actually nothing to interpret here. It’s just something I wanted to include because she gave me goosebumps the first few times I listened to it. That’s all 🤷🏻‍♀️🙃.

“Uuuh-And another love song, will play on the radio, you know”

A love song, aka yet another thing that would’ve made her think about Lo. Here Mila was again imagining talking to Lo as I explained to you in the first chorus. ‘you know’, YOU, Lauren. I explained this to you guys when I told you about the subjects, remember?

“Ah-ah ah-ah ah-aaah

Ah-ah ah-ah ah-aaah

Uuh-And I’ll wait for the moon to lean in close, and say”

Why did the moon have to lean in close to tell her something? Think about that for a moment. When is it that you lean in close to someone in that way? When you want to whisper something, habitually either very close to their face so they can hear, or in their ear. It’s usually something that no one else can hear. A secret. Basically, it’s a metaphor Mila used because their story was secret. Especially in the beginning, very few people knew about them, and if that’s why, their entire story has always been and still is a secret to the world. And I’m talking in a general way of course, not about people who know them.

So it was like: And another love song will play on the radio that will make me think about you, you know, Lauren? And, in the meantime, I’ll wait for the moon to lean in close as if it were a secret because no one knew, and say:

Chorus 3:

“That he only told the moon, tonight up on the roof”

AAAAAnd we have the entry of a fourth subject. At first glance, it might have seemed that Mila was referring to a guy for obvious reasons. At the time, I initially thought that was the one Lo was moving on with, but then I reflected and said to myself: “Naaah. Why on earth would this guy have had to confess to the moon the same things as Mila if he already had the girl (Laur)? Her girl! Not to mention the fact that this guy should’ve seen the moon as a friend and have the same kind of love for her that Mila has. Pfffffft!! Come on! It would’ve been an all too huge coincidence!!! No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Nope. This is just another game. Think, Fa, think. Who is this he?”. I looked at the lyrics again and answered to myself right after: the sun. Remember the explanation I gave you in the first chorus about the ‘she/her’ for the moon? It’s the same thing. Here Mila referred to the sun with ‘he’ because in Spanish, as well as in Italian, the sun is preceded by the masculine definite article. ‘El sol’ in Spanish, and ‘il sole’ in Italian.

So I understood that it was the sun, BUT, and yes, there’s a but, he only told the moon is a game within a game. A double game. In their story, Camila is the moon and Lauren is the sun. Mila herself said that she personifies the sun and the moon a lot as people and that she identifies herself to the moon. I explained everything in an ask of my Inauguration post as you can see here: [Same thing as before. Right click on the pic and go to ‘open image in a new tab’. Go to the tab that has just opened, and click on the image with the magnifying glass with the + sign in it to see and read everything better]

As I also said in that post, the personification in their story is: Camila: moon. Lauren: sun. The sun and the moon love each other, as do Laur and Mila. Now look at this:

“i have late night conversations with the moon. she tells me about the sun, and i tell her about you”: i (Mila) have late night conversations with the moon. she (moon) tells me about the sun, and i (Mila) tell her about you (Laur). It’s exactly the same method she used here in the song!

“That he only told the moon, tonight up on the roof”. So in this case, Mila personified the sun. He: sun, aka Lauren. That he only told the moon, tonight up on the roof: That Lauren only told the moon, tonight up on the roof. Her sun only told the moon.

“He told me that he’s scared that all his thoughts they look like you”

Remember earlier that Mila said she was waiting for the moon to lean in close one day to tell her that? [I said one day because Mila used the future: I’ll wait for the moon to lean in close. Meaning: it hadn’t happened yet. She was still just hoping for it]. This means that it was the moon that was talking here. He told me that he’s scared that all his thoughts they look like you: He (the sun, Lauren) told me (the moon) that he’s (Lauren’s) scared that all his (Lauren’s) thoughts they look like you (Camila).

I know that many understood that that he was the sun. I also know that many thought it was the actual sun that was talking to the moon. I know they thought that Mila talked to the moon, Laur to the sun, and that the moon and sun talked to each other by then exchanging that same information to the girls, but that’s not the case. I highly doubt the sun could be found talking to the moon tonight up on the roof. During a lunar eclipse (since they occur in the night)? More likely, but I doubt Mila implied that. Talking tonight up on the roof is a metaphor that indicates something that a person would do when alone and in secret because away from prying ears; meaning: a confession. In this case, as I’ve already told you, confession to whom? Only Told the Moon, aka the fulcrum of the entire song.

So the actual sun had nothing to do with it here and it was the moon that talked in the first person through Camila’s hope. Ergo, something that hadn’t really happened. Mila was waiting for the moon to one day tell her that Laur, and therefore her personification of the sun, had also gone ‘up on the roof’ one night to confide in her, the moon itself. Mila was waiting for the moon to one day lean in close to tell her what? That Laur, her sun, only told her, the moon, that she was scared that all her thoughts they looked like Mila.

Mila speaking: And I’ll (Camila) wait for the moon to lean in close and say [Say what?=] that he (the sun, Lauren) only told the moon, tonight up on the roof. Moon speaking: He (Lauren) told me (the moon) that he’s (Lauren’s) scared that all his (Lauren’s) thoughts they look like you (Camila).

Information passing: Camila was talking to the moon. Camila hoped that her sun (Lauren) would also talk to the moon. The moon was talking to Camila, and for Camila’s hope, also with Lauren, aka her sun.

“I only told the moon, about the way you move

I asked her to please tell me if you tell this to her too”

And back to Camila speaking again. I (Mila) asked her (moon) to please tell me (Mila) if you (Lo) tell this to her (moon) too. Different from I asked her to please tell me if you tell things to her too that we find in the first two choruses. The difference is that, if first Mila asked the moon to tell her if Laur talked about things with her too (if you tell things to her too: things in general), here she asked her to tell her specifically if Lo talked to her about Mila too. About the way Mila moves and if she was scared that all her thoughts they looked like Mila (if you tell this to her too: the exact same things Mila talked about with the moon).

Basically, Mila was hoping that sooner or later the moon would’ve told her in secret that Laur had also confided in her by telling her that all she did was think about Mila too.

Outro:

Well, well, well. Would you look at that 😏. Putting aside the connection between the second verse and a part of the second chorus that I’ve already explained to you, and the singing part that I added myself, what do we have here? Mila finally knew that Lo too had the same thoughts and the same fears as her. We only told the moon. Literally, it means they both only told the moon, buuut, what the hell is going on? Wasn’t Mila just hoping that Lo would also confide in the moon sooner or later until the third chorus? What had changed?

Their situation. Their situation had changed. They’d gotten back together and that’s why Mila knew and could say with certainty that they only told the moon. We only told the moon was simply another indicator of the time that had passed. The last indicator of the time that had passed! Lyrically speaking, Mila explains that they’d gotten back together and that for that reason, Laur told her that she’d confided in the moon too. The hope that her sun would also talk about her to the moon had become reality. WITH ONLY FIVE WORDS!! 🤯🤯🤯 MASTERMIND! SHE. IS. BRILLIANT.!!!!! 🔥

Remember that when I told you about XO (I Don’t Miss Ya), Cry for Me, Must Be Love, Used to This, and Closure, I told you that Only Told the Moon is the last song (so far) that encompasses that chapter before they got back together? Mila started writing it when she thought it was really over between them. When she thought she’d lost her for real. When her hope was fading more and more. This was the last song of acceptance and hope in getting back together with her before actually getting back together with her. And the following year, when she by then had already been back with her for some time, she finished it by being able to insert the happy ending as well. One of the best-hidden things in my opinion 🤩.

Mila used these riddles, these games with sentences, with the various meanings behind them, and, above all, with personal pronouns, with the sole purpose of trying to confuse the ideas for anyone who listened to the song; as I also told you in the first chorus. She only used four subjects in the song, but she twisted pronouns and meanings on purpose. For most of the song, there was: the moon, she/her – the sun, aka Lauren, he - Lauren, you - and lastly Camila herself, I/me. The amazing thing, is that she managed to perfectly confuse things. Like for example the fact that she used the you for Lauren in order not to make it clear that she was talking about a girl. For fear that people who wouldn’t understand that with she/her she meant the moon and not a girl, she also inserted the he, which however, in this case, was the sun aka Lo, and not a guy. A motherfucking genius, I told you! 😍😍😍 And all this at just 17 years old with no professional help from fucking anyone!!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩

Last thing before I go. Something that my baby @romanticentropy reminded me of because I was way too focused on seeing things in that year (2014). This beautiful song, also has a lil connection with another unreleased song that Mila wrote in 2018: Taxi. “We’ll tell the moon when we’re old. The greatest love story that’s never been told”.

That We’ll tell the moon when we’re old, is connected to this We only told the moon. This makes us understand that Camren only told the moon about them since 2014, they’ve continued and continue to do so now in the present, and will continue to tell the moon about their greatest love story that’s never been told even when they’re old. The little hope that Mila gave me is the fact that she didn’t insert the only there that time. So maybe, MAYBE they won’t tell their greatest love story only to the moon 😍🤞🏼🙏🏼. But 🤫🤐.

Little story for you. It was early March 2016 and I'd been in the fandom for a very very short time. This Camren fanart was one of the first I saw. At the time, however, I saw the original. As you can see, this one is cropped and the quality is not the best. I tried to look for the original which was of the same quality as the edited one that Mila posted, but I unfortunately couldn't find it anywhere. The point is that I saw it. That one was created first. That one was actually the original. Then it was edited, maybe by the same person who created it, but I don't know that. But I do know with absolute certainty, also because everyone said it at the time, that that one was created first. So, my question remains the same:

Are you really gonna tell me that when you posted it, you didn't know that it was actually the edit of THIS one?? KARLA CAMILA CABELLO ESTRABAO!!!!!!!!!!! COME ON, NOW!!!! WHO ARE YOU KIDDING???? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

But back to being serious now. We have ‘the classic’ one:

That's the famous sun and moon artwork (created by Zias and posted on the artist website DeviantArt). It was the first one to be used by fans as cover art for the song when the snippet was leaked in 2016. We saw Mila use it many times on her social networks:

And we even saw it worn on her sweatshirt on November 27, 2015, in Mexico for The Reflection Tour, both for an interview with Telehit and for the meet & greet:

There are obviously tons of other pics and tweets where Mila talked about the sun and the moon, but I think these ones are enough. Let's focus on the song now. I love this song 🥰. This song made me realize how talented Mila was, since she was only 17 when she started it. How much of a great songwriter she was already at the time since this is one of the first songs she wrote 100% on her own and without professional help. Then honestly the fact that it was so complex, made me like it 100 times more 😜.

But anyway, I advise you to mentally prepare yourselves because this is the longest interpretation I've done so far. Make yourselves a sandwich, or a coffee, or I don't know, something that can accompany you on the journey 😄. Oh and, as usual, you can even disagree with me, but this is the way I see it 😊.

Okay, ready? Let's go! 🙌🏼

Verse 1:

“Stay back, stay long

And you, move on

I stress, come close

Move on, please don't”

One of the things I love the most about this song is how cryptic it is 😍, and I think you know by now how much of a sucker I am for deciphering things 😏. So what do we have here? We have words, but something doesn't add up. There appear to be holes. As if there were missing pieces of a sentence, right? Well, that's because it is like that. Or at least, it is for me. On whole sentences, Mila only used a few words. So basically, it was as if she'd removed the rest because the meaning of those words alone, had the same concept as one or more whole sentences. I'll explain better with an example:

“On my way home after work last night, I tripped on a really dirty sidewalk and fell to my knees by tearing off my new polka dotted pantyhose that I loved, and breaking the heel of my shoe because I was distracted looking at my phone”. Now, that's the whole sentence. But if I just write “On my way home. I fell. Distracted.” in that same cryptic way, wouldn't you understand anyway that the fact of the matter is that I fell? Wouldn't you understand anyway even without the need to know all those details in the whole sentence that my distracted ass was on the ground? I really think so. Oh and, just to clarify, this didn't really happen. I'm not clumsy and I certainly don't work in heels 🤣. It was just an example I created for you to understand. Let's move on 🙃.

‘I stress, come close - Move on, please don't’. These two, already at the time (2017) made me understand that Mila wasn't really talking to Laur. They were just thoughts in her head that she, however, didn't tell her 100% for pride reasons. She broke up with her, saw that Lo was moving on, and instead of telling her in person how much she wanted her close/back (come close) and how much she didn't want her to move on (Move on, please don't), she talked to herself by repeating it (I stress) over and over again in her head. I understood this especially because the ‘Move on’ is a question and the ‘please don't’ is the reaction to the affirmative answer of the question. It was like: Mila saw Lo with someone else and thought “Is she moving on? Oh, no. No, no, no, no, no, please no!”. As with ‘And you’, if you listen closely, you can clearly hear that it's a question and that Mila says “Move on? Please don't”.

Pre-Chorus 1:

“Hello, how are you? How you've been?

Lately I wonder how it feels to steal your kiss

Nothing much, just fine, I'm doing well

And you can read between the lines but God, I fell”

Ohhh, I can read between the lines, baby!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 All kidding aside🤣, I'm serious now. We have another little riddle here. A puzzle, or rather, a game. A game with sentences, a game with the various meanings behind it, and, above all, a game with personal pronouns. Actually, the whole motherfucking song is based on these three things 🤣. But anyway.

With the first two sentences (Hello, how are you? How you've been? - Lately I wonder how it feels to steal your kiss), it might have seemed at first as if Mila was asking those questions to Laur, right? Right. And with ‘Nothing much, just fine, I'm doing well - And you can read between the lines but God, I fell’, it might have seemed at first as if Lo had answered her that, right? Right. But then you'll have stopped for a moment and said “Wait a minute! Hold on, hold on, hold on, wait a fucking minute! If Laur had moved on in the first verse, why on earth would she tell Mila to read between the lines right after telling her she was doing well? [Reading between the lines means finding the subtext/implication, and in this case, I'm doing well, means the exact opposite read between the lines: I'm NOT doing well] It wouldn't make sense because she would never have admitted it for a pride matter.”

So you must have thought it was the other way around. That it was Lauren the one who was asking Camila those questions, right? Right. But then the confusion will have entered again because, again, if Laur was moving on in the first verse, why after the questions would she have told her that lately she was wondering how it would feel to steal her kiss? Why move on and simply not get back with her as Mila also secretly wanted (I stress, come close - Move on, please don't)? It would've been a contradiction. And therefore you must have thought, “Okay, Lauren asked her the two questions, but everything else in the sentences was just Camila, right? That's gotta be it. Right? Right.” WROOONG! It's all wrong 🤣. As I said before, it’s game with sentences, a game with the various meanings behind it, and, above all, a game with personal pronouns.

So. I explained the game in the first verse, but what's the game in the first pre-chorus?

In the first verse, Mila talked to the moon about what happened between her and Lauren by using the present tense. As if she was reliving the memories. But in reality, they were things that had already happened. In the first pre-chorus indeed, she used ‘Lately I wonder’; thing that makes us understand how some time had passed since the first verse, that is, since Mila had broken up with Laur to then regretting it while Lo was moving on. In the first pre-chorus, however, Mila explained to the moon the things that had happened in the period after the breakup. She explained to the moon how she was being asked if she was okay, and that even though she answered that she was, she actually wasn't okay at all. Yeah guys 🤣, it was actually external people who asked those two questions to Camila, and not Lauren to Camila or vice versa. Before you get confused for the umpteenth time 🤣, let me go on so you'll understand what I mean 🙃.

Read the first pre-chorus in this way by pretending that the two sentences I crossed out don't exist for a moment, okay?

Hello, how are you? How you’ve been?

Lately I wonder how it feels to steal your kiss

Nothing much, just fine, I’m doing well

And you can read between the lines but God, I fell

Those are two questions and that’s an answer to both. And so far, so good. It's very simple. I also explained to you that Mila in the song was telling and confessing everything to the moon, and therefore, this also excludes the moon itself from the sentences that I haven't crossed out. But in the last sentence, on the other hand, we have the moon as a referent (I'll explain that shortly), and that's why I said that those who asked Mila those questions were external people. If you still have doubts about it, think about it for a moment. Those are questions you ask a person you haven't seen for a while, and what sense would it have made for one of them (Camren) to ask the other ‘Hello, how are you? How you've been?’ if we know perfectly well that they were together 24-7? 😏

Now that I hope I've removed this doubt as well, let's move on. As I was saying, in the first pre-chorus Mila explained to the moon the things that had happened after the breakup. She explained to the moon how people asked her how she was: Hello, how are you? How you've been?. And since she wasn't okay, those questions immediately made her think of Lo.

You know when you're talking to someone and your mind spaces out thinking about something else? Maybe because that someone said something that reminded you of that thing that's distracting you from the conversation. Well, we know how short Camila's attention span is and how easily distracted she is 🤣. But, while that's usually funny because, I mean, it's Camila, and it's one of the billions of reasons why I love her, in this case of the song, her mind spaced out on Laur because she was suffering for her. So in that timeframe between immediately after the questions and before the answer, and because of the questions, Mila thought about Lo and how she would've wanted to kiss her: Lately I wonder how it feels to steal your kiss. It was like, people: “Hello, how are you? How you've been?” – Mila by thinking of Laur ‘Lately I wonder how it feels to steal your kiss’ to then answering:

“Nothing much, just fine, I'm doing well. I'm just as good as an ass sitting on a cactus, thanks for asking. What about you?”.

Sometimes the people who ask you those questions do it because they're fond of you and there's really an interest on their part in knowing how you're doing. Others, still those ones who are fond of you, ask them to you because they saw or already knew that something was wrong, and it's their way of letting you vent to help you (sometimes that doesn't work because you prefer to lie to them despite trusting them simply because you don't want to talk about it). Then there are those ones who ask you just for gossip and not because they really care about you; especially if they saw that something was wrong, they can't wait to know the reason to then go gossiping by telling someone else everything. And lastly, there are those ones who ask you just out of courtesy. Like, for example, the typical two-second encounter that happens when you see someone you know: “Heeey, hi, how are you?” whose answer is always “I'm good. How are you?” even if you feel like shit, “I'm good. See ya”, you know? These are questions that you ask others yourself as well. Everyone does and no one really cares about the answer because, whether you're really okay or not, the answer is always “I'm good/fine/okay” regardless, because you wouldn't talk about personal matters with someone you don't trust, and same thing for them towards you.

In Mila's case, we know that 5H were always surrounded by people. Especially on tour or on promotional weeks, they saw and met people every day. Their team, sound engineers, assistants, photographers, interviewers, fans, etc., etc. People in general. So, “Hello, how are you? How you've been?”, whether they were courtesy questions or not, Mila still received them every day even several times a day from different people.

Moving forward we find a slight change of scenery. This is where the moon comes into play as an actual referent. From telling the moon about their breakup and what happened both immediately after and a short while after it, Mila spoke in the present-present by addressing the moon directly: “And you can read between the lines but God, I fell”. Meaning: You, moon, you can read between the lines and understand that I answered those questions with bullshit because I’m not doing well. I broke up with her, she started moving on, I regret it, and now I feel terrible because I miss her. I know she's kinda dating somebody else, but God, I fell in love with her and I want her back.

Camren officially got together in early April 2014 and broke up in late November of the same year (Camila was 17). To be precise, it was Mila who broke up with Lo. I'm not just saying that because I understood it from this song (Only Told the Moon) which was the first of those five we had (2017). I'm saying that because Camila herself said it two years later and therefore I had confirmation of it. But we'll get there shortly. Let me follow the order of the music timeline.

Examples of what I told you in the song: Lo was hurt and, driven by anger, she acted as if she cared neither that Mila broke up with her and the reasons why she did (So keep your feelings inside of your head. I like you better when you keep em' there. Don't let me know, don't let me know. Unfortunately, I don’t miss ya //// “Don't let me know, don't let me know”, funny how exactly two years later [2016], she asked her the exact opposite in Let Me Know [interpretation here, penultimate ask]), nor Mila herself (I don’t need nobody to make me feel good - & - Used to be xo, now we're exes). She acted as if she was better off without her. (Appreciate it when you’re not around. I like you better when you're out of town. Better alone, better alone. Unfortunately, I don’t miss ya). Partially true because soon after, she found someone else to ‘move on with’ briefly.

That, on the other hand, resulted in anger in Mila triggered by jealousy, aka I'm Pissed Off You're Happy (“I'm pissed off you're happy, you're happy y-y-y-y-y. I'm pissed off you're happy, without me e-e-e-e-e”), which in turn years later became what we know as Cry for Me. And now I can tell you when Mila herself said she broke up with her: (here, min 2:31) Camila: “I broke up with somebody, and I was like: ‘okay’. But then, a few days after, I would just see them- just looking so happy, so radiant, like, dating someone else so quickly; and I was like: ‘Wait! Like, that was so- I knew you were gonna move on, but that was really, really fast. Like, I feel jealous that you were able to move on and be happy so much faster than me’”.

So basically: Mila broke up with her and she was like ‘I’m okay with it. I did the right thing’. Lo, hurt, acted like ‘Better this way. I don't give a shit. I'm happy like this’, and I'm also convinced that it was out of spite that she kinda started dating someone else. And Mila became jealous and angry. It was like, she saw her happy? = “Well, you look so happy walking down the street, don't you, babe? - & - And you're okay, you're okay, how can you be okay? No, why won't you cry?”. The fact that Lo wasn't hurt (only according to her since Laur didn't show it) from the breakup and her, infuriated Mila.

Mila learned that Lo was already dating someone else, and instead of telling her that she wasn't okay with it, out of even more anger and pride, Mila told her she was happy for her = “When I said I hope you're happy, didn't mean it”. Then the increasingly angry and jealous reasoning started in her head, still because, out of pride, she didn't say anything to Laur: “Never thought you'd be so good at moving on - & - You said that in this lifetime you could never get over me? Are you over me? - & - Who can make you forget about me? - & - I want you to cry for me, cry for me - & - And it's time you know the feeling”. Lastly followed by the regret of having broken up with Lo and the wanting things back the way they were: “Tears in my eyes, yeah - & - Say you'd die for me, die for me. And if you can't, then baby, lie for me, lie for me. 'Cause you haunt me when I'm dreamin'”.

Cry for Me was jealousy, and anger, and pride, but also regret. That's where Mila realized both that she'd fucked up and that she wanted Laur back. We can also notice the difference between what she actually told her “When I said I hope you're happy”, and what instead she really thought “didn't mean it ” & “Move on? Please don't” of the Only Told the Moon's first verse. All that, resulted in something else. The realization of being in love with her, aka Must Be Love: “Must be love. Or this wouldn't hurt so much. And I wouldn't think so much. And I could just give you up”. The Must Be Love's falling in love, is a connection that we find both with “And you can read between the lines but God, I fell” in the Only Told the Moon's pre-chorus, and with “seventeen when I started to fall” in Used to This. If that's why, we also find it with “And maybe people like me love too much” in Closure, but let's talk about Used to This first.

Used to This is about the difference in their behaviors between when they were fuckbuddies and when they officially got together. About how Mila was getting used to being her girlfriend. The last part, however, is linked to the other three previous songs (XO (I Don’t Miss Ya), Cry for Me, and Must Be Love), which is when she broke up with her, regretting it and then wanting her back: the parts in the song parenthesis “(I'll risk it all. Seventeen when I started to fall, but we lost it all, and I just can't believe it all)”. And yes, guys, it's seventeen when I started to fall. I, not we. I think you know me by now and that therefore you know that I don't say bullshit because, unless I'm just telling you my theories and opinions about something, I always do my research before speaking. But in case any of you have any doubts, here. It's written in the booklet:

Now that you've also seen it, can you do Mila (and me too) a favor? Can you please stop saying we? Thanks 🙏🏼🤣. Let's move on to Closure.

After she realized she was in love with her, the fear of losing her forever set in because, as we've seen, Lo was acting as if she didn't care about Mila anymore (And I hope that you care, that you're there. It's killing me - & - But the phone won't ring 'cause, darling, do I mean a thing?) and she was moving on with someone else (Then you moved on and I can't carry on). Mila still had some hope (I want closure. Tell me it's not over (it can't be over, it can't be over). Let me live in my fantasy where you still think of me), but the more time passed, the more she was little by little losing that hope. And we lastly arrive at Only Told the Moon. Last song (so far) that encompasses that chapter before they got back together.

In Only Told the Moon, as I started to explain to you, Mila told the moon everything that had happened from the breakup to the back then present, where her having hope and not giving up was rewarded (you'll see later in the interpretation). That, in the reality happened at the end of December 2014/early January 2015 where we even saw the appearance of two rings 😏. I talked about it in a fairytale way and therefore not saying about the breakup but only about a fight in the 🗯️ - ɟ post: [Right click on the pic and go to ‘open image in a new tab’. Go to the tab that has just opened, and click on the image with the magnifying glass with the + sign in it to see and read everything better]

So that breakup lasted for about a month and a couple of weeks. Now I can go back to my Only Told the Moon 's interpretation.

So. Brief summary. In the first verse, Camila was like: “So, my friend (moon), it all started like this...”. (Stay back) she broke up with her. She regretted it and wanted her back with her for good (stay long), but (And you“?”, move on) Laur was moving on [Sure, Jan 🤣]. When Mila found out (Move on“?”), she started thinking by emphasizing/repeating (I stress) in her head over and over again how much she wanted her close/back (come close) because, of course, she didn't want Lo to move on (please don't). And in the first pre-chorus, Camila began explaining to the moon the things that had happened in the period after the breakup. Mila by still talking to the moon: “People asked me how I was (people: Hello, how are you? How you've been?), but before answering them (Mila: Nothing much, just fine, I'm doing well), I was attacked by thoughts about Lauren (Mila, to herself: Lately I wonder how it feels to steal your kiss). And you can imagine my answer was bullshit because, God, I fell in love with her and I feel terrible without her” (Mila: And you can read between the lines but God, I fell).

All very trippy so far, huh? 🤯😏 I know, I know, and we're not even done yet 🤣. And by the way, how many times have I said that Camila is a fucking genius? Because she is! She's fucking brilliant!! 😍

Chorus 1:

“I only told the moon, tonight up on the roof

I told her that I'm scared that all my thoughts they look like you

I only told the moon, about the way you move

I asked her to please tell me if you tell things to her too”

I told her. HER: the moon. For those who don't know, Mila refers to the moon as ‘she/her’ because in Spanish, as well as in Italian, moon is preceded by the feminine definite article, ‘la’. It says ‘la luna’ in Spanish as well as in Italian. In English, however, the article is always the same, ‘the’. It wasn't difficult for me to understand it at the time, and no, not because for a couple of years now there has been the fashion to use the she/her for every object even when it actually has the masculine definite article as most part of native English speakers do to be cooler (they're really really funny to me when they do it, by the way 🤣) precisely because they don't know the difference because of the ‘the’. Nope. It wasn't difficult for me to understand it at the time, precisely because I'm Italian. But anyway. Let's go back to the interpretation.

There's another little game here. For this time, it's just a change of referent. If in the first verse and in the first pre-chorus Mila was talking directly to the moon, in the first chorus she was talking to Laur instead. But in reality, she wasn't really talking to her. It's as if she were imagining doing it. Lauren wasn't really there, but Camila imagined that she was. She acted by speaking in the same way that she'd have spoken for real to Laur if Lo had really been there with her.

How come I think Camila was talking to her own imaginative creation of Laur and not Lauren herself? Because n°1, Camren weren't on good terms at the time as we understood in the first verse, aka they didn't talk to each other. N°2, as I said before, this whole song is a confession Mila made to the moon. And n°3, Mila herself asked the moon to tell her if Laur was thinking of her too in the last sentence of the first chorus. If Mila was really talking to Laur, she wouldn't have asked the moon to give her her news. Ergo, Laur wasn't there and Mila was just imagining talking to her.

I only told the moon, about the way you move. About the way you move… Ahem-ahem 🤭. I mean, if THAT doesn't prove she was talking about a girl, I don't know what would 🤣. Yeah, the song is enigmatic, and Mila tried to confuse the ideas for anyone who listened to it, but this is the only part of the whole song where it's clear as day that she was talking about a girl. Her girl. And we know that she's talked about it too before. Two examples that come to my mind now are OMG: “When she drop it bounce back like a yo-yo”, and Crown: “The way you move is serpentine”.

We have three subjects here: I, me: Camila – Her: moon – You: Lauren. I (Mila) asked her (the moon) to please tell me (Mila) if you (Laur) tell things to her (the moon) too.

So basically, throughout the first chorus, Mila (I, me) imagined talking to Lo (you) about what she'd confessed to the moon (her) about her feelings for Laur herself.

Now take a deep breath and rest your brain for a moment because I'm probably about to give you one 😇😁👍🏼😉

Verse 2:

“Silence. Too loud

Say it, not now”

This is exactly the same thing we saw in the first verse. The same little game of missing pieces of a sentence. The problem with this one, was that it was even more difficult to decipher. It was the most complex part for me to code at the time. Why? Because not only do we find here the connection with everything I've explained so far, but even with a part of the second chorus. But let's go in order.

We know that Mila suffers from OCD. This is a topic I've talked about in many of my posts and I need to do it one more time. OCD leads to having intrusive thoughts. You can't control them even if you want to, and that, leads those thoughts to be continuous. So continuous, that they lead you to obsession, which in turn leads you to act in a way that is too impulsive, compulsive, just to try to distract yourself and not always think about the same thing [obsession and compulsive, two things that we find in the word itself: obsessive-compulsive disorder, OCD]. That, leads you in turn to anxiety because the fear of not being able to stop those thoughts takes over. Now, doesn't that ring a bell? Don't you recognize those same words said in the song? No? I'll give you a hand: “I only told the moon, tonight up on the roof - I told her that I'm scared that all my thoughts they look like you”.

Explanation I've now given on the OCD: That, leads you in turn to anxiety because the fear of not being able to stop those thoughts takes over.

Yeeep. I didn't explain this in the first chorus because I needed this connection right now because of what I'm about to explain. But before doing that, I'd also like to add how we've seen those intrusive, repetitive thoughts about Lo in two other parts as well: 1) I stress, when she started thinking by emphasizing/repeating in her head over and over again how much she wanted her back, and 2) Lately I wonder how it feels to steal your kiss, when her mind spaced out on Laur instead of immediately answering the questions Hello, how are you? How you've been?.

So, again, Silence. Too loud. There was silence outside. Even between them. Another thing that makes us understand they weren't talking to each other. But in her head? There were those Little voices that were too loud. In this case (because we're talking about the song and not Mila and OCD in a generic way), they were all about “Lauren, Lauren, Lauren”. Also because, as you've seen, Mila herself only told the moon that she was scared that all her thoughts they looked like Lo.

So. I've explained to you the connection that there is in the second verse with everything I've already explained so far. But, before explaining the part that for me was the most complex to decipher, which is the connection between the second verse and a part of the second chorus, let's move on to the second pre-chorus. As I said before, let's go in order.

Pre-Chorus 2:

“So, how are you? How you've been?

Lately I wonder how it feels to taste your lips

Nothing much, just fine, I'm doing well

And you can read between the lines but God, I fell”

The second pre-chorus and the first are the same. They don't have different meanings, but we do find two differences here: the replacement of Hello with So before the questions, and the replacement of steal your kiss with taste your lips.

The two differences don't change the meaning of the second pre-chorus per se. They're just indicators of the time that was passing. Mila was still telling and confessing everything to the moon except for the last part in which she referred directly to her. And if first she wondered how it would feel to steal Laur’s kiss, then she wondered how it would feel to taste Laur’s lips. First indicator of the time that was passing.

The second one, which is the replacement of Hello with So before the questions, makes us understand how also other people different from the first ones were asking her those questions. Nothing wrong with that. I mean, as I explained earlier, they're spontaneous courtesy questions you ask people you know when you see them. Like for example when you and a friend meet for a coffee. Once the two of you have hugged to greet each other, and once you've sat down at a table, one of you usually starts the conversation precisely in that way: So, how are you? How you've been?

Chorus 2:

“I only told the moon, tonight up on the roof

I told her that I'm scared that all my thoughts they look like you

I only told the moon, about the way you move

I asked her to please tell me if you tell things to her too”

So far, it's all the same as the first chorus. Immediately after, however, we find an addition that distinguishes them:

“That I give it all to you, I give it all to you, I give it all to you

I only told the moon”

Now I can finally explain to you the connection between the second verse and a part of the second chorus. THIS part of the second chorus.

The first chorus ends with I asked her to please tell me if you tell things to her too. If you combine it with the part following that, which we find here in the second chorus, we get: I asked her to please tell me if you tell things to her too that I give it all to you. And tell me honestly, does that make sense? Nope. It makes no sense. So I told myself that it had to be yet another game. I thought, what if that part (That I give it all to you, I give it all to you, I give it all to you - I only told the moon) has nothing to do with the parts of the choruses that are the same? What if it had another connection with something else here in the song? Well, why the hell not 🤷🏻‍♀️. And that's how I found it 😏. That's how I understood that this part of the second chorus had the connection with the second verse.

Small summary of the second verse to make you understand better: Silence. Too loud. Say it, not now. There was silence outside, but in Mila's head, there were those too loud Little voices she was having a conversation with.

It's in that conversation that we need to add the second chorus part. And now, that conversation becomes:

“Tell her you give it all to her. All your love. All of yourself because she means the world to you” is actually That I give it all to you.

“Tell her how you feel instead of only talking to the moon about it” is because that's what Mila did, aka I only told the moon which we find in both choruses.

“Tell her how you feel instead of only imagining doing it (as we saw in the first chorus)”. And what did we see in the first chorus? That Mila was imagining talking to Lo about what she'd confessed to the moon about her feelings for Laur herself.

“Say it to her for real” But say what to her for real? Answer: “Tell her you miss her. Tell her you fell in love with her. Tell her you give it all to her. All your love. All of yourself because she means the world to you. Tell her how you feel instead of only talking to the moon about it. Tell her how you feel instead of only imagining doing it. …... Take the courage and do it!”. By shitting in her pants just at the idea, Mila answered: “Not now. Later on in time, sure, but not now. I'm not ready yet”.

Basically, the connection between the second verse and a part of the second chorus, is an addition to what the Little voices Mila was having a conversation with told her. The game we find in ‘That I give it all to you, I give it all to you, I give it all to you - I only told the moon’, is that this sentence should be read backwards. I only told the moon that I give it all to you. It's as simple as that. The Little voices, aka Mila herself, told her to tell Lo all the things I've listed, with the addition that we find here that she gives it all to her, instead of only telling the moon or just imagining doing it. 😏

Bridge:

“Ah-ah ah-ah ah-aaah

Ah-ah ah-ah ah-aaah”

Mila angelically sings this part twice by switching from the lowest to the highest vocal range. There's actually nothing to interpret here. It's just something I wanted to include because she gave me goosebumps the first few times I listened to it. That's all 🤷🏻‍♀️🙃.

“Uuuh-And another love song, will play on the radio, you know”

A love song, aka yet another thing that would've made her think about Lo. Here Mila was again imagining talking to Lo as I explained to you in the first chorus. ‘you know’, YOU, Lauren. I explained this to you guys when I told you about the subjects, remember?

“Ah-ah ah-ah ah-aaah

Ah-ah ah-ah ah-aaah

Uuh-And I’ll wait for the moon to lean in close, and say”

Why did the moon have to lean in close to tell her something? Think about that for a moment. When is it that you lean in close to someone in that way? When you want to whisper something, habitually either very close to their face so they can hear, or in their ear. It's usually something that no one else can hear. A secret. Basically, it's a metaphor Mila used because their story was secret. Especially in the beginning, very few people knew about them, and if that's why, their entire story has always been and still is a secret to the world. And I'm talking in a general way of course, not about people who know them.

Chorus 3:

“That he only told the moon, tonight up on the roof”

AAAAAnd we have the entry of a fourth subject. At first glance, it might have seemed that Mila was referring to a guy for obvious reasons. At the time, I initially thought that was the one Lo was moving on with, but then I reflected and said to myself: “Naaah. Why on earth would this guy have had to confess to the moon the same things as Mila if he already had the girl (Laur)? Her girl! Not to mention the fact that this guy should've seen the moon as a friend and have the same kind of love for her that Mila has. Pfffffft!! Come on! It would've been an all too huge coincidence!!! No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Nope. This is just another game. Think, Fa, think. Who is this he?”. I looked at the lyrics again and answered to myself right after: the sun. Remember the explanation I gave you in the first chorus about the ‘she/her’ for the moon? It's the same thing. Here Mila referred to the sun with ‘he’ because in Spanish, as well as in Italian, the sun is preceded by the masculine definite article. ‘El sol’ in Spanish, and ‘il sole’ in Italian.

So I understood that it was the sun, BUT, and yes, there's a but, he only told the moon is a game within a game. A double game. In their story, Camila is the moon and Lauren is the sun. Mila herself said that she personifies the sun and the moon a lot as people and that she identifies herself to the moon. I explained everything in an ask of my Inauguration post as you can see here: [Same thing as before. Right click on the pic and go to ‘open image in a new tab’. Go to the tab that has just opened, and click on the image with the magnifying glass with the + sign in it to see and read everything better]

As I also said in that post, the personification in their story is: Camila: moon. Lauren: sun. The sun and the moon love each other, as do Laur and Mila. Now look at this:

“i have late night conversations with the moon. she tells me about the sun, and i tell her about you”: i (Mila) have late night conversations with the moon. she (moon) tells me about the sun, and i (Mila) tell her about you (Laur). It's exactly the same method she used here in the song!

“He told me that he’s scared that all his thoughts they look like you”

Remember earlier that Mila said she was waiting for the moon to lean in close one day to tell her that? [I said one day because Mila used the future: I’ll wait for the moon to lean in close. Meaning: it hadn't happened yet. She was still just hoping for it]. This means that it was the moon that was talking here. He told me that he’s scared that all his thoughts they look like you: He (the sun, Lauren) told me (the moon) that he’s (Lauren’s) scared that all his (Lauren’s) thoughts they look like you (Camila).

So the actual sun had nothing to do with it here and it was the moon that talked in the first person through Camila's hope. Ergo, something that hadn't really happened. Mila was waiting for the moon to one day tell her that Laur, and therefore her personification of the sun, had also gone ‘up on the roof’ one night to confide in her, the moon itself. Mila was waiting for the moon to one day lean in close to tell her what? That Laur, her sun, only told her, the moon, that she was scared that all her thoughts they looked like Mila.

Information passing: Camila was talking to the moon. Camila hoped that her sun (Lauren) would also talk to the moon. The moon was talking to Camila, and for Camila's hope, also with Lauren, aka her sun.

“I only told the moon, about the way you move

I asked her to please tell me if you tell this to her too”

Basically, Mila was hoping that sooner or later the moon would've told her in secret that Laur had also confided in her by telling her that all she did was think about Mila too.

Outro:

“That I give it all to you, I give it all to you, I give it all to you

We only told the moon

He, he, ha he, he, ha he

We only told the moon”

Well, well, well. Would you look at that 😏. Putting aside the connection between the second verse and a part of the second chorus that I've already explained to you, and the singing part that I added myself, what do we have here? Mila finally knew that Lo too had the same thoughts and the same fears as her. We only told the moon. Literally, it means they both only told the moon, buuut, what the hell is going on? Wasn't Mila just hoping that Lo would also confide in the moon sooner or later until the third chorus? What had changed?

Their situation. Their situation had changed. They'd gotten back together and that's why Mila knew and could say with certainty that they only told the moon. We only told the moon was simply another indicator of the time that had passed. The last indicator of the time that had passed! Lyrically speaking, Mila explains that they’d gotten back together and that for that reason, Laur told her that she’d confided in the moon too. The hope that her sun would also talk about her to the moon had become reality. WITH ONLY FIVE WORDS!! 🤯🤯🤯 MASTERMIND! SHE. IS. BRILLIANT.!!!!! 🔥

Remember that when I told you about XO (I Don’t Miss Ya), Cry for Me, Must Be Love, Used to This, and Closure, I told you that Only Told the Moon is the last song (so far) that encompasses that chapter before they got back together? Mila started writing it when she thought it was really over between them. When she thought she'd lost her for real. When her hope was fading more and more. This was the last song of acceptance and hope in getting back together with her before actually getting back together with her. And the following year, when she by then had already been back with her for some time, she finished it by being able to insert the happy ending as well. One of the best-hidden things in my opinion 🤩.

Mila used these riddles, these games with sentences, with the various meanings behind them, and, above all, with personal pronouns, with the sole purpose of trying to confuse the ideas for anyone who listened to the song; as I also told you in the first chorus. She only used four subjects in the song, but she twisted pronouns and meanings on purpose. For most of the song, there was: the moon, she/her – the sun, aka Lauren, he - Lauren, you - and lastly Camila herself, I/me. The amazing thing, is that she managed to perfectly confuse things. Like for example the fact that she used the you for Lauren in order not to make it clear that she was talking about a girl. For fear that people who wouldn't understand that with she/her she meant the moon and not a girl, she also inserted the he, which however, in this case, was the sun aka Lo, and not a guy. A motherfucking genius, I told you! 😍😍😍 And all this at just 17 years old with no professional help from fucking anyone!!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩

Last thing before I go. Something that my baby @romanticentropy reminded me of because I was way too focused on seeing things in that year (2014).
