hi. help
e-begging to avoid eviction 2 !!!!!! !!!!!!
i got laid off 5 weeks ago, i applied for unemployment the same day i got laid off but for some reason they are taking forever to process my case. i just keep waiting for weeks and then getting sent more paperwork to fill out. yesterday they told me i'll have to wait another 2 weeks to hear back again. ive been applying for every job i can find and getting nothing so far
i have $1533 in outstanding rent, i just barely avoided being taken to court, i have a payment plan with my landlord but thats entirely dependent on what happens with my unemployment
i also have to make an 80 dollar payment on my student loans by monday or it'll be sent to collections. that sucks but not being homeless is my priority
(also my grandfather is dying and im dealing with my homophobic family if for some reason you want to know the specifics about that i have complained here)
i am really greatful to have had comms to keep me afloat, this has been a huge help with everyday expenses + keeping me and my dog fed. but yeah i cant do this shit anymore. if you can help or boost that is lifesaving!!! thank you so much

Financial strain can impact far more than just a person's mental health. A nationally representative study from the United Kingdom has found evidence that stress over money is tied to long-term changes in key health markers, including those associated with the immune system, the nervous system, and the hormonal system.

Before you pay that not-covered hospital bill:
I want to take a min to spread awareness for the No Surprises Act after noticing a reddit post earlier.
This protection for patients just popped up in the past couple years, and the one major downside is that it's up to the patients to speak up to make use of it, but not everyone knows what it is.
"If you have private health insurance, these new protections ban the most common types of surprise bills. If you’re uninsured or you decide not to use your health insurance for a service, under these protections, you can often get a good faith estimate of the cost of your care up front, before your visit."
Consumer fact sheet
Typically, health insurance companies will help pay for bills from "in-network" providers, AKA their VIP inner circle gang turf. They won't help pay if you get medical care from another gang's henchmen (out of network).
This means that sometimes, a person would go to the hospital, which they knew had been covered by their insurance before, so they expect it's going to be relatively affordable. But they didn't know that multiple medical "gangs" were working in the same hospital. Their anesthesiologist, for example, was from a different gang. That specialist was out of network even though the surgeon and nurses were all in network.
Boom. Big bill for thousands of dollars and their insurance refuses to help pay it.
Tumblr media
But now we have this law! The No Surprises Act means that insurance companies need to cover "surprise" expenses (under certain conditions).
If you don't have health insurance, hospitals and clinics need to give you an accurate quote before you get services, then foot the bill if they were too far off the mark.
The Fact Sheet section of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services have some wonderful user-friendly resources for you about health insurance and how this act works.
Keep in mind that Medicare and government-run programs always have weird rules for everything, so you might have different (yet similar) protections through those programs.
If you have a medical bill that wasn't covered by insurance and you think it might count as a surprise bill, please check out your rights and consider fighting it instead of letting it become a stressful expense or debt you can't repay.
Go here to start figuring things out for your situation:
Health insurance companies have way, waaaaay too much power over our lives. We need every drop of protection we can get - but it only counts as much as we can understand and use those protections!

turning off reblogs on this bc we were able to get the car fixed!
okay shorter pithier tl;dr of this post: i am chronically ill and my car needs a new starter that’ll cost $870. which i... do not have. i’m in the process of getting the chronic illness under control so i can work normal hours again, but in the meantime i need to ask for help because it’s really really important to fix my car.
i got tipping set up with stripe on this blog so that’s a very easy way of donating if you want to, other links are:
venmo: @Katherine-MacEachern
paypal: paypal.me/kitkatmkath
ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/elliptical
anything and everything helps, i’m really sorry to have to do this & don’t want anyone to overtax themselves on my behalf. i remain unbelievably grateful for all of the support and care and love you guys have shown me over the years. many thanks and all of my love to you <3

- drinking more water
i’ve been doing really good in this area actually! i have been drinking at least one of my stanley cups of water a day (i have the 40oz). definetly going to the bathroom more but it doesn’t bother me especially bc its for the better of my health.
- start exercising more often
out of all the areas im ngl this the one i have been lacking in bc im trying to figure out what plan to go w regarding my gym thts closest to me but most likely going to end up signing up mid may.
- affirming & manifesting
i have been affirming & setting my manifestation intentions daily. saying out loud as often as i can as well as writing it down in my journal specifically for manifestation etc.
- trying out new baking recipes
made some cupcakes the other day! definitely want to perfect that and tweak it to make it perfect!
- becoming more disciplined
this was one of the main things i wanted to practice bc i knew it would have such a major impact in all areas of my life. i been doing really good in regards to this. getting up everyday and not going om my phone first thing and sticking to tht. journaling everyday and sticking to it. eating out less. basically everything tbh. super proud of my progress in this area
- build my savings more
been doing sooo good here too ! learning to not take out of my savings and if i really want something i need to wait and save for it. another place where discipline comes in
- start actually getting ready for the day
im ngl i have been lacking in this area a little but thats okay! i go to work about 3-4 times a week and im getting ready for tht so progress is progress.
- journaling
literally amaze. been journaling everyday consistently and i lovee. something about waking up, taking a big gulp of water, and opening your curtains to let the sun in while you journal. like it just puts me in a good and fresh mood. ready to start the day. aware of my goals for tht day and such. also lets my brain ease into waking up instead of going straight on my phone and waking it up w/ whatever nonsense social media has going on.
[feel completely free to join in with me in this challenge and even add some things of your own! its totally customizable. I will be checking in on here periodically to tell you guys my progress as well as the things I've done to help me get to my goals]
xoxo

i think it's less that people in the hobby can truly afford any of the shit we buy (sure we have the money, but who has six months of savings in their bank account in case shit hits the fan? not me!) and more that everything in life seems so uncertain now anyway that it's hard to find a point in planning ahead. i could save my money for some future emergency just in case, or i could use it now and get something that actually sparks a neuron of happiness in this desolate thing we call life.

Hi everyone! This is the point in my MBA where I'm going to be annoying and ask if y'all could please fill out this quick survey for my capstone project?
It's 8 questions long, takes about a minute-ish to complete, and covers burnout, work/life balance, work environment alternatives, and a modified work week (ex: 4 days x 10hrs).
Anyone can take it including if you're not currently working and it's completely anonymous!
Please rb and spread this to as many people as possible!
Thank you!!

Got super overwhemed tonight and neared a meltdown when some old traumas got triggered.
Hubs was amazing and took over the situation setting me off so that it doesn’t keep happening. Then he made me a tea and brought me my headphones and turned on my card game so I could just zone out and calm back down.
I really am so lucky to have someone like him.

Your Yearly Free Medical Care Checklist
If you are an American who is lucky enough to have health insurance, you almost certainly have free medical care coming your way.
Several annual and semi-annual services are available to you with no copay—and you have absolutely no reason not to use them. Technically, you have already bought them, as their cost is built into the premiums you’ve already paid. And your body will thank you for it! Even if you feel perfectly healthy, establishing a baseline of health will help your medical professionals detect problems early.
Pro-tip: don’t wait until the end of the year to do all this stuff! Every medical office I’ve ever been to is slammed during November and December as everyone tries to use up their benefits. Schedule it now to avoid the crush.
Here’s what you should be doing every year.
