@patternsrhyme (Xandra) liked the starter call inspired by the development tea room halloween prompt Day 19: 🚘 Sitting with a popped tire on the side of a long stretch of road, waiting
STEVE WONDERS IF A ROAD TRIP IS A SIGN OF A MIDLIFE CRISIS. He thought that after retiring from the mantle of Captain America, it would be nice to see the rest of the country he used to embody, not only the, you know, East Coast and what few cities he visited during the USO tour in the 40s. But this is the second time he has had a flat tire, and he forgot to replace the spare wheel when it happened the last time, so he can't do anything but sit here and wait for someone to come by and take him to a gas station to call a tow truck because naturally, he has no fucking cell reception here. So yeah, maybe he can blame a midlife crisis for his bad luck.
An eagle cries above his head, and Steve huffs. "Yeah, you and me both, pal," he mutters as he finishes his candy bar because he got hungry an hour ago, and it seems like nobody passes this street at all. Then he hears a rustle coming from the forest behind him, and he jumps to his feet immediately and stares into the dark woods. Is it a bear? Are there bears in California? Jesus, he hopes not.

“People are born, then they’re formed.”
"Wrong."
Tumblr media
"People aren't just people. You should know that better than anyone that not everything takes a shape before it is a person. Anyway not everyone is birthed. Several of my cousins have been handcrafted, already fully formed assholes just waiting to be chipped away into the shape of a valley. What kind of shit do they teach you back where you're from?"

Family Gathering
Since none of y'all wanna talk about Thor...
Tumblr media
Awkwardness and tension. Nothing of much concern.
Please let me know what you think <3
🧁🧁🧁
Thor’s hand hovers behind you as he escorts you up the long walk. You’re careful as you watch your feet, nervous in the blocky high heels as they reflect the glare of the street lights and those of the bulbs lighting up the front of the large house. Your stomach squeezes nervously as you reach the steps and he offers his arm for your ascent.
The glittery pink shoes are his pick and they go with the flouncy dress he bought you for that very night. He bangs the great brass knocker and waits for an answer as his fingers walk up and down your back, sending a chill through you. You giggle and take his large hand. It was the first time you’d meet his family.
A woman answers the door, her lips painted a soft shade of pink as her long lashes are darkened with mascara. She welcomes you in and says that Loki is seeing to some last minute arrangements. You smile and follow her as Thor keeps hold of you.
“Your parents are already here,” she says to Thor, “and your brother won’t be much longer. If you want to take a seat, there are place cards.”
You nod and squeeze Thor’s hand as he thanks her. He introduces you to his parents; Frigga and Odin, and they embrace you kindly despite your reticence. You sit beside him and he stretches across to hold onto the arm of your chair. You shift and fix your skirt. The seat is narrow enough it makes you feel even wider than you are.
He stills your restless fingers as you twiddle and you give a guilty smirk in his direction. You mouth a sorry and he bows his head gently. He motions to assure you it’s alright, just calm down.
“Ah, sorry about that, there was some issue but it’s sorted,” a tall slender man enters, his dark hair smoothed back. He takes the seat at the head of the table. “This must be my brother’s mysterious companion,” he looks at you and you give a small wave before bashfully tucking your chin down. “I…” he sputters, “is she well? Can she hear me?”
Thor booms with laughter and plays with your hand mindlessly, “Loki, of course she can hear you, brother. She is not very talkative is all.”
“Oh, I wouldn’t think that your type,” Loki muses.
“Don’t be churlish,” Frigga warns as she watches a server fill her glass with champagne, “we’ve not come for another spat.”
“No, you have not,” Loki declares, “I hope you find your stay enjoyable and that you have all your require.”
“This is a very… peculiar house,” Thor lifts your hand, bending your elbow on the arm of the chair as he pauses to kiss your fingers. His brother gives a derisive glance at the act and his partner, Darling, hides behind her wine. “I do like the artwork.”
“Mm, there are some pieces that need to be replaced. The designer was not well-versed in Asgardian taste.” Darling sends him a sharp squint at the comment and sips her champagne. Loki reaches over and pinches the stem of her glass, “we agreed on water.”
She lets him take the glass and takes the stout cup of water instead. She meets your eye as she drinks and you give her a small smile. She looks down as you notice the glisten along her lashes. Your fingers tighten around Thor’s.
He leans in, “what is it, pet?”
You turn and put your mouth right to his ear, “she’s sad.”
He nods and gives you a knowing look, using his hands to suggest Loki often inspires the mood. You give him a shocked O and he gently waves away the expression.
“Not our concern,” he says gently in your ear, “is it, pet?”

Thrown - Chapter 29: Storm and Shelter
Summary: When a heavy storm approaches Loki worries for your safety.
Word Count: 3,810
Author's Note: There's just never enough furniture in fanfiction, is there?
Masterlist
Tumblr media
A storm was coming.
It occupied nearly every conversation both in New Asgard and the human town. The humans were well versed in the preparation for this sort of storm. The Asgardians, on the other hand, had never encountered such weather before. Thor and Loki had been kept exhaustively busy ensuring that the Æsir were ready for their first blizzard. Food and water was distributed, homes that were suspect were inspected and reinforced as needed, citizens were appraised of what to expect.
Humans had come out in droves to ensure their Asgardian neighbors were prepped for the incoming snow. Many had arrived to donate and hand out supplies and dispense advice. It was no surprise, of course, that you were among them.
"And you, friend?" Thor was packing up after the last of the supplies had been passed out. "Are you prepared for the storm?" "Oh yeah, we're good." You handed him an empty box. "I'm just one person, it doesn't take much." "Is there anything you need? Would you like to stay with us?" You smiled and patted his arm. "I'll be fine. Thank you, though."
The storm was only hours away at this point. Loki felt the need to offer you some kind of assistance, but what did he have to give? You had the situation well in-hand, it seemed.
The remnants of the distribution were cleared away and everyone was scurrying off to their respective shelters. Valkyrie insisted on giving you and Ash a ride home which you eventually accepted. You bid the brothers goodbye, each with a hug and well wishes, and left.
**
Loki sat in an armchair beside the window, reading. Occasionally he looked up, peering at the crystals swirling in the air and gathering on the ground. Valkyrie was staying with them for the duration of the storm. She and Thor were watching television, some sporting event taking place somewhere that wasn't being assailed by ice. They drifted back and forth between the couch and kitchen, eating the sort of Midgardian food that even the humans deemed as "junk".
Loki went to make himself a cup of tea. Thor was waiting by the microwave, he checked his phone and frowned. Loki saw your name at the top of the screen. "What is it?" Thor looked up. "I'm sure it's nothing." He put the phone away. "I sent her a text asking how she was faring and she hasn't responded." Loki's brow furrowed. "How long ago?" "Not long." Thor retrieved his dish from the microwave. "Only an hour or so." He turned and began walking back to the living room. Loki followed, tea forgotten. "An hour? Does she usually take so long?" Thor shrugged. "Occasionally. If she's working or otherwise occupied." Loki glanced out the window at the torrent of snow. "She is certainly not working." "Maybe she's taking a nap." Valkyrie piped up from the couch. "She's probably exhausted, babysitting you two all the time." Loki scowled. This wasn't something to make light of. "I'm sure she's fine." Thor stated firmly as he sat down. "She'll respond later." Loki returned to his seat, unconvinced but outnumbered.
He tried to resume reading. At the very least he managed to keep up the appearance of reading. His attention was often pulled to the window by the gale outside. He was very aware any time Thor shifted in a way that hinted he may reach for his phone. His nerves gradually stretched taunt. Hours passed this way.
Thor looked at his phone again, his expression dissatisfied. Loki happened to be taking a break from his book at that same moment. "Any word?" "No. No response." He frowned. "That is unusual." Valkyrie seemed unconcerned. Thor was fiddling with his phone, presumably making sure it was working. Loki looked out the window at the onslaught of snow and wind. "What if something's wrong?" "I'm sure everything is fine." Thor responded, but Loki heard the uncertainty creeping into his voice. Loki frowned. "And if it isn't?" "We can go check on her when the storm clears." "That's hours still!" "Guys, she's fine!" Valkyrie hadn't left her reclined position on the end of the couch. "This isn't her first blizzard. She's stocked up. She's at home, I dropped her off myself." Loki snapped his book closed. "Then why isn't she answering?" Valkyrie shrugged. "Her phone's off? She's sleeping through the storm? She's sick of you guys pestering her?" Loki scowled. "None of those excuses are terribly convincing." "I think the third one's a winner, personally." His eyes narrowed. "Is this a joke to you?" She shrugged. "It's a little funny. You saw her earlier today. What, do you think she's frozen to death since then?" "That is not something to be laughed at!" Loki's voice had raised higher than he intended. Valkyrie raised her eyebrows and held up her hands in defense.
Silence stretched for a moment, then Thor spoke calmly. "When the storm clears, we will go to see her." "If something's wrong, that will be too late." Loki glowered. "Then we will have to hope nothing is wrong. Which is most likely the case, regardless." Thor stated firmly.
Loki glowered at the floor, drumming his fingers on the arm of the chair. The only other sound was the murmur of the television and the faint whisper of ice against the window. A particularly strong gust of wind pushed against the panes and Loki winced.
He stood abruptly. "I'm going." Thor's brow furrowed. "Going where?" "To make sure she's alright." They both stared at him incredulously. "Loki." Thor stood. "Be reasonable. Look out there." He gestured to the window. There wasn't much to see, the wind and snow obscured everything. Valkyrie scoffed. "Let him go. He can freeze his ass off if he wants." "No." Thor turned back to Loki. "Please, just stay until the storm clears." Loki straightened. "If you can tell me with complete certainty that you know she is safe and well, then I will stay." Thor slumped. "You know I cannot." He nodded. "Then I'm going." "The snowstorm-" "What? What will it do to me?" Loki asked pointedly. "It doesn't compare to the temperatures of Jotunheim, I'm sure." Thor frowned. "You could get lost. You can barely see out there." Loki pulled on his coat. "I'm very familiar with where I'm going. I'll use a wayfinding charm." Thor searched for another objection but found none in the face of Loki's determination. He sighed in defeat and held his phone out to Loki. "Take this with you." Loki looked down at the device with disdain. "Take it." Thor demanded. "If there's trouble, you can call Valkyrie's phone. When you find that there is none, you can let us know and ease our own worries." This seemed agreeable enough. Loki took the device and stowed it away. He gave the both of them a nod and stepped out the door, shutting it behind him. Thor sighed and sat back down on the couch. "He's completely mad." Valkyrie said. Thor leaned back and tried not to worry. "She is very dear to him."
**
The wind and cold immediately bit through Loki's coat. He squinted against the gale and ice, only just able to make out the shape of the surrounding buildings through the snowy gloom. Thor had been right, it would be easy to lose his way, even on a path as familiar to him as this one. He closed his eyes and centered his thoughts on his destination, then cast out a piece of his seiðr. When he opened his eyes a small ball of light hung in the air, waiting to lead him to you. He stepped forward to follow.
It was a bitter cold. There was no reprieve, it was relentless. The winds were cruel and sharp, they cut at his face and hands as he pushed through the drifts. It was worse once he was outside of town. Out in the open, without the meager shelter offered by the buildings to break the gusts, the tempest whipped the snow against him with an even more savage intensity. Loki had to hold his arm up to shield his eyes. There was very little he could see now, aside from the light of his wayfinding charm. He couldn't be sure he was on the road. This didn't matter, the effect on him was negligible. The possibility of you enduring these same conditions pushed him onward. He leaned into the wind and pressed forward through the ice.
Slowly and steadily he willed his limbs forward to follow the light. After what felt like hours, he saw a building appear in the flurry. Your studio. Your cottage then came into view. The guiding light vanished as he stepped onto your porch. The building was dark, your windows were shuttered against storm.
He knocked on your door. No answer. He knocked again, louder this time. More silence. He pounded on your door and called your name, trying to raise his voice above the wind.
He stared at the motionless door. He was on the verge of breaking it down when it opened, just barely. A sliver of your confused face appeared in the crack, peering outside. He felt a wave of relief wash over him. Your eyes widened as you took in the sight. "LOKI!" You reached out and snatched him by the lapel, dragging him through the doorway and slamming it shut behind him. "What the HELL are you doing?"
You were fine. You were in your sleep clothes. Loki glanced around the room. It was dark, the only light in the room was that being cast by the fire in the fireplace and a small electric lantern in your hand. The couch and an armchair had been pulled close to the fireplace. The couch was covered in blankets. The armchair was occupied by Ash, who was sitting up and thumping his tail against the cushion in greeting.
You were waiting for an answer from him. His face was burning, likely from the sudden change in temperature. "I-I came to check on you." "In the middle of a blizzard? Are you out of your mind?" You held your lantern up, trying to get a better look at him. "The cold doesn't affect me-" "The hell it doesn't! Your hands are turning blue!" He looked down in alarm as you grabbed his hand and held it up to the light. It was tinged blue. Your touch was like fire. You were angry now. "Dry off!" It was a command, which he dutifully obeyed as you hurriedly pulled him across the room to the fire. He was completely dry by the time you reached the couch. He wouldn't dream of protesting when pushed him down to sit on the couch in front of the hearth. There a frantic energy about you. You knelt on the cushion beside him and threw a quilt around the both of you, then took his hands in yours in an attempt to warm them. This was unnecessary, but he did not feel the need to object.
You kept your eyes down, rubbing his hands. "Why would you do this?" Your voice was strained, it sounded as though you were struggling between anger and worry. He felt a slight brush of guilt. "We were concerned. Thor had messaged you, asking how you were, and you didn't respond." "The power is out." You now held his hands in your lap. "My phone died. I'm fine." He nodded. "Yes, I can see that now. At the time things seemed much more grave." You sighed, shoulders slumping. "You shouldn't have done this." He tried not to focus on how close you were. You were very close. "I apologize for causing you undue stress." You shook your head. "No, it's my fault too. I knew the power would probably go out, I should have paid more attention to my battery. I'm sorry you worried so much." You finally looked up at him. "Wait, do you guys still have power?" "New Asgard is fitted with Stark technology. Eventually it will be expanded to the mortal town. It's part of the deal in building our settlement here." He looked at you sidelong. "I'm not certain that unincorporated farms are on the docket, however." You smirked. "I think I've got a fair chance. I have friends in high places in New Asgard." "Hm. I'll have to object. Favoritism tarnishes the crown." You laughed, the tension in your face now gone.
You inspected his hand in the firelight. Satisfied with the color, you released his wrist, left him in the quilt and sat back on the couch, wrapping your own blanket around your shoulders. He did his best not to mourn the loss. "I can't believe you walked here in a blizzard. You're an idiot." "Yes, it does seem foolish now. Especially seeing my efforts met with so little gratitude." "You're just disappointed I didn't need saving." "I'm quite relieved, actually- oh." He drew the phone from his pocket and saw your eyebrows raise. "It's Thor's." He explained. "He insisted, so I could inform him and the Valkyrie of your fate." "You make it sound so dramatic." "It might have been." He quipped as he typed a message and hit send. You scoffed. After a moment the phone chimed in response. He looked at the message and rolled his eyes. You wore a smile as you watched. "What is it?" "Valkyrie requests confirmation that her 'boyfriend' is in good spirits." He didn't mention the "I told you so" he also received. You laughed and held out your hand. "Give it here."
He handed you the phone and you turned to Ash. You tucked his blue plaid blanket over his back then took a very charming photo of him in the firelight. You typed something and sent it off before handing the device back and settling back into your blanket. He noticed you were wearing the necklace again. The thrill it gave him was only slightly hampered by acknowledging you also had the blanket from Thor draped over your shoulders.
"I was going to make some tea." You nodded toward the kitchen. "Would you like a cup?" "I can think of no greater pleasure on a night like this."
You stood and walked with to the kitchen with the blanket still draped around you. The flame of the stove clicked to life, the kettle boiled, the tea steeped. You passed him a mug and returned to your seat. He wasn't surprised that you knew how he took it. The two of you sipped tea and spoke quietly in front of the fire. It felt conspiratorial, huddled here in the dark. The two of you sequestered away in safety while the world pounded and howled outside. Like some sort of spell wrapped this room in a bubble. The way your face creased with laughter, and the way the firelight moved across it, enhanced the feeling that magic was afoot.
Gradually he began to notice the usual signs. Your eyelids grew heavy, your silences grew longer, you had to prop your head against your hand or your knee or the back of the couch.
"You're tired." He stood. "I'll take my leave." Suddenly you were wide awake, sitting up straight. "What!?" He shrugged. "You need to sleep. I'll go." You stared in disbelief. "You're not going out there!" "Why not?" "You'll freeze!" He scoffed. "I've already made the trip once." You stood and pointed an angry finger at him. "You're not going back out there." He smirked. "Oh, you'll stop me?" "No." You cocked a brow and returned his smirk. "I'll follow you." He paused. That was difficult to counter. "Hah! Yeah, what then, tough guy?" You were grinning in your victory. He pursed his lips but could find no rebuttal. "Face it." You crossed your arms. "You're here for the night."
He looked around the darkened room. It was clear you were intending to sleep on the sofa in front of the fire. That left him with few options. "I suppose I could make do with one of the chairs." You rolled your eyes. "Loki, there are two ends to the couch." You took a pillow and tossed it against the far arm of the couch, then sat down on your end. "Come on. Take your shoes off."
You were so casual about it. You were inviting him to share your... well not your bed, but the equivalent. You offered it like it was the most natural thing in the world. As if he arrangement hadn't needed to be spoken at all. You were waiting expectantly, perhaps keeping a keen eye to ensure he didn't make for the door. He did as instructed and removed his shoes, as well as his coat. When he took his seat you turned and stretched your legs out across the couch, he did the same.
Satisfied, you stretched the blankets out between the two of you and settled down into your pillow. "I don't know why you have to make everything so difficult." The corner of his mouth turned up. "Just my nature, I suppose." "The God of Irritation." "Perhaps you were made in my image." You pinched his foot, he pulled it away with a chuckle.
Suddenly you sat up, as if remembering something. You unclasped the necklace and stretched to place it on the end table for safekeeping. You reached over and scritched Ash's neck then hunkered down again with a yawn.
You and Loki shared few more stories as he watched sleep pull you away. After you had drifted off he watched for a while still, your face at rest, peaceful in the dim light. He settled in for the night with the weight of you alongside him. He closed his eyes and listened to the crackle of the fire, your soft steady breaths, and the wind howling against the roof. He could not imagine a more perfect shelter.
**
Loki woke. It was still dark, which was to be expected with the windows shuttered, and terribly quiet. The storm must have passed. Ash was curled tightly with his blanket in the armchair. You were still sleeping. The fire had died down, and a chill had crept into the air. Loki, with great reluctance, extricated himself from under the blankets with care, then crept to the hearth to add more wood and stoke the fire. He was able to return to the couch without waking you. He enjoyed a few more minutes in the quiet before you stirred.
You groaned and stretched and blinked and the sight was so terribly endearing that Loki had to look away. He was watching the fire before you could turn his way and catch him staring.
"Good morning." You mumbled as you sat up. "Good morning. Slept well?" You nodded. "You?" "Very well." "Still mad I kept you from walking home in a blizzard?" "I've forgiven you." He watched, amused, as you squinted for focus. "Storm's gone?" "Yes, I believe so." You groaned. He cocked his head curiously. "Is that unfortunate?" "It means I need to go feed animals." You pulled a quilt up around your neck and whined. "But the blankets are warm." Loki narrowed his eyes and smirked. "Oh, do you need assistance?" Your eyes widened and you clutched the blanket. "No, I'll get up, just give me a minute." "Darling, I would be remiss if I didn't help you in this matter." He stood and gathered his end of the blankets in his hands. "The poor dears are starving out in the stable." "Loki I swear I'll get up! Please!" You desperately grasped at the quilt. "Just a couple minutes!" "I'm afraid I can't let you neglect your duties, you would be so disappointed in yourself." "I'll get-" You cut off in a squealing whine as he ripped the blankets away. You momentarily attempted to curl up on yourself to conserve heat, realized it was a fruitless endeavor, then let out a frustrated huff and stood. "Fine!" You stomped off to your bedroom, a very concerned Ash close on your heels. Loki smirked and began folding blankets.
You emerged a few minutes later, dressed. Loki was waiting in the kitchen with his coat on. You opened the back door and sighed when you found snow up to your waist. "Alright, I'll start-" "Please, allow me." He held out a hand and a swath of snow in front of you collapsed, revealing damp, bare ground. You stared, mouth slightly agape. He watched you for a moment with a smug smile, which he immediately dropped when you punched his arm. "What!?" "All winter," you muttered through gritted teeth, "All winter I've been shoveling paths in this field and you could have just magicked it away!? Why didn't you tell me?!" He rubbed his arm. "You never asked." You scowled. "This isn't exactly the reaction I expected." He sulked. You shook your head and crossed your arms. "No. I'm not doing the 'impressed human' thing, marveling at your prowess. Let's go, finish the path." You stepped outside. Ash shot Loki what he would swear was a sympathetic look and Loki followed, clearing the way for you as you went.
The stable was surprisingly warm. Breidr and Goat were each wearing something like a blanket across their backs. Goat was bleating incessantly until you poured his feed. Once they were taken care of, you brought Loki back to the kitchen and made the two of you breakfast. You had apparently granted him amnesty, your usual friendly conversation returning. When the meal was finished you returned the sofa, picking up your necklace and donning it again.
Loki stood by the hearth. "What now? You sit in the dark until power is restored?" You shrugged. "More or less." He looked around the dark room. "Why don't you come to New Asgard?" You looked unsure. "Why not? We have electricity." He smirked. "You could charge your devices, at the very least." You rolled your eyes. "I fine here, really. And I'll need to feed the animals." He shrugged. "So return later." He watched you consider it. "Am I such poor company?" You laughed. "Yes. You are the greatest source of my reluctance." "Please." He stepped closer and offered you his hand. "Do me the favor of allowing me to offer you hospitality, just for a little while." A smile crept across your face. "Alright, I guess you do owe me." You took his hand and stood.
You packed your things and prepped for the walk. When you and Ash were ready Loki held the door open and you stepped out onto your snow-swept porch. Loki walked ahead of you, clearing a path, and with no small amount of pride he led you to shelter.

Magic x Marvel: Idle Speculation
I have a lot of random thoughts about the upcoming Magic the Gathering x Marvel crossover, and I thought it would be neat to just ramble about them in a post, especially so I can hopefully find that post again later when the sets release and see how much I was right about. I'm just gonna bullet point this because this is kind of a stream of consciousness sort of deal:
We know that we're getting multiple "tentpole releases" a.k.a. more than one full set for this particular crossover. I'm thinking at least one is going to be a straight to Modern draftable set similar to the LotR set, but I don't think they're necessarily just doing that for all the sets. I speculate that the other (or one of the others if there's more than two) set is going to be a gimmick draft set, such as 2-Head Giant or Commander draft.
I personally am hoping one of the sets is a Commander draft set, and that our partner variant for the set goes the Stranger Things route and just creates a subset partner variant. I propose the name Team-Up, to represent the ubiquity of team up storylines in comic books. (I actually made an entire post about this but Tumblr's wonderful search function is choosing not to find it on my blog.)
Ooh, if they do go the Commander draft route they can make the Prismatic Piper equivalent a Skrull or something
I really, really want a Squirrel Girl card that makes squirrel tokens that I can jam into my Chatterfang deck. Squirrel Girl is my favorite superhero and I just want her on a card so, so badly.
I think it would be cool to have a Mjolnir equipment that in addition to its other effects also has a bit of trinket text along the lines of "equipped creature is a God in addition to its other types."
Thor and Loki and any other Asgardian that represents an actual god should have the creature type God. It already exists. Like sure, we could make Asgardian a creature type if we wanted to, but that's the coward's route.
I saw someone make a comment on Reddit about adding Hero and Villain as creature types, but I really, really hope that doesn't happen. It runs the risk of making the creature types in the set super repetitive, and we're already gonna see a lot of that from the sheer number of human characters. Sure, we'll have some mutants and aliens and robots to occasionally break things up, but it'll be much worse if the class types among cards aren't varied.
Like seriously, let's use the movie Avengers lineup. What's better...having four Human Hero cards, a God Hero, and whatever we do with the Hulk...or a Human Soldier, Human Scientist, Human Archer, Human Rogue, God Warrior, and whatever we do with the Hulk
Yeah, actually...what are we gonna do with the Hulk and related characters? In a vacuum, I would probably type the Hulk as Mutant Berserker...but for IP reasons I wouldn't be surprised if the Mutant creature type is reserved solely for characters with the X-Gene. I don't have an answer for this, just wondering...
Oh, and since I mentioned the MCU, I do want to say one thing, if they're smart they'll base the sets on the comics and not the MCU. Gives them a lot more material and characters to pull from
Booster fun treatment should lean into this and be comic book themed, but I think they would also be smart to offer some Secret Lair drops featuring alt art versions of the characters based on the MCU...if they're willing to deal with the likeness rights and whatnot.
Multiple tentpole releases does mean multiple commander precons. Some themes I could easily see them basing decks on: the Avengers, X-Men, Spider-Man/Spider-Verse, Guardians of the Galaxy+other space themed characters, a deck for a bunch of the more mystical Marvel characters probably led by Dr. Strange, S.H.I.E.L.D., A.I.M., Villains in general (from my memory Marvel doesn't really have a singular Legion of Doom type team up of its iconic villains, but I'm definitely picturing a Villains deck that tosses a bunch of iconic villains together in one deck...you could call it the Masters of Evil as a deep cut though.)
If Gambit gets a card, he should have an ability that lets you discard cards to deal damage to a target to represent Gambit throwing cards at his enemies. (This is the kind of wink at the camera stuff I love in UB products.)
Koi Boy should get a card purely because he's a canon trans man and Magic really needs some trans masc representation.

Hello friend! How are you? Are you making Yandere letters?! How awesome!! I want to request a Yandere letter too but from our Mighty Bear AU, for now I would like a Kratos Yandere letter to Björn that he receives when he’s in Asgard with his adoptive family. Björn decides to read what’s in the letter but when he finishes he’s like “HAHAHAHAHA F*CK U!” and he burns the letter with an annoyed smile in his face.
Broken Truth (Reading a Nordic Scroll before looking up at the ask, then back at the scroll): Björn getting a letter from Kratos while he is in Asgard? How would it even get there? Revna could take it to him - considering Kratos doesn't know who Revna really is. (Waves tail) Let the words weave together!
Björn was seated on a sofa in front of a fireplace, feeling the warmth radiating from the pit that filled the room with light and comfort. His clawed hands were holding a tome, and his golden eyes scanned through the written words on the pages. Lord Heimdall had given him the task of learning everything he could about the Asgardians and their way of life. Having made a name for himself in Asgard, Heimdall wanted the Bear Cub to be well-versed in the Asgardian hierarchy. Surprisingly, Björn knew his place as someone below Heimdall, even though Thor had taken him as his kin after losing his own sons Magni and Modi and his brother Baldur. Heimdall wanted Björn to be all he could be in Asgard, and he knew that knowledge was power, which is why he gave him books to read.
Björn looked up from his book as his mother Sif and twin sister Revna entered the living room. Sif kissed Björn on the forehead before allowing him to continue studying. Revna, known as the Wise Raven of Asgard, sat next to him. Despite her vast knowledge, Björn respected her just as much as she respected him. She handed him a folded letter from her satchel without a word. Björn looked confused at first, but as soon as he began reading, he understood why Revna looked uninterested. The letter contained news that left him stunned.
Boy,
I hope this letter finds its way into your claws, I was certain to give it to the girl known as Revna since she seems to know where you are all the time. I would have given the letter to Atreus to hand to you but I understand from what he has shared with me during his time in Asgard, that you avoid him as if he is the personification of death itself; I shall assume that you have not forgiven him nor I for what we have done in that past but you must understand that your anger, your rage, towards your brother and I are completely misplaced. We were only trying to make you see the error of your ways by making bonds and blood ties with the Sons and Brother of Thor; why would you make them your 'brothers' when already had a blood brother in Atreus - the one whom you shared a womb within the belly of your one and only more - Faye.
When you were born moments after Atreus, you mirrored Faye to perfection even though you were her son; now that I think of it, that girl to whom I had delivered this letter to you also looks like Faye, almost a spitting image. It is quite chilling considering that she has no links to her or even you, correct? I digress, I am getting distracted from the reason I am contacting you: You are to come home at once the next time Atreus returns here. This game you are playing has gone on long enough and we are sick of it, Björn - you are one of us, not them. You have the blood of a Greek God and a Jotunn and, I am sure that you know, the Jotunn are enemies to the Asgardians; especially Thor, who hunted down all of them but only missed your mother since she was able to defeat him in battle. How can you really call yourself Faye's son when you are calling her mortal enemy 'Father'? Get this through your head, Boy; you are not an Asgardian and you never will be. The only reason you are there is because they believe the Blood Contact you did with their lost spawn means that a piece of them still exists within you but we both know that is mere fantasy.
Stop this game and return home. You are not meant to be a warrior and you shall never be what you desire. Accept what you are and allow us to defend you as Faye would have wanted.
Until Then, ~ Your Father, Kratos
Björn looked at the letter for a while before looking at Revna with an expression that matched her own; they held their eyes together for a good minute as if they were having a silent conversation before they started bursting out with laughter as if they were jackals.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I needed a good laugh." Björn said as he balled the letter up between his clawed hand and threw it into the flames, watching the burn away the Ghost of Sparta's Words, "Your delusion is that I would actually believe your words, Ghost. FUck you and your words." He said before picking up his tome once again and continued reading with the smile remaining on his face.

I was thinking.. how in the Yonder!verse, Thor was dead for 5 years.. and Loki was presumed dead for 5 years. Even in mourning for their twin, they were equal. Even when they were not parallel, their experiences were. Which is pretty cool.
Also the fact that they are not just mutants or superheroes but actual aliens and gods is also pretty cool.
Looking forward to reading more of it!!
Not really an ask, I guess.
Oooh, I'd never thought about that before! I hadn't made the math connection that five years pass between TDW (2013) and Ragnarok/IW (2018, unless one wants to put an extended period of time between Ragnarok and IW, which I don't); for some reason I thought it was only two. It is not two.
It was really important to me to worldbuild the Asgardians as aliens and gods, since that's the interesting part for me. They aren't humans and they don't think like humans, or have the same base capabilities as humans (even the superpowered ones; there are, for examples, some pretty deliberate differences in Steve's serum enhancements and an Asgardian's regular capabilities).
Some more Yonderverse sometime! I've got bits and bobs in progress, including the Thor POV of the events of Yonder (post-desnappening, obviously), the Disney epistolary story, and some more hypothetical sequel concept writing. I played around with the idea of another prequel, but Horizon didn't do well, so that really depends on whether or not I am Inspired.

Tumblr media
The photos went by in blur, primarily because Sigyn was preoccupied with Jake’s impression of Marc, which consisted of him frowning the entire time and grunting in lieu of speaking whenever anyone addressed him. Thankfully, Thor and Valkyrie were none the wiser.
Sigyn tried to apologize once they’d completed their official duties. “I am deeply sorry for what I said earlier.”
“Yo sé,” Jake replied, “I get it.”
“Will Marc allow me to make amends?”
“He knows you’re sorry.” Jake’s face was impassive. “He’s not ready yet to speak to you yet.”
She accepted his words with a nod. “Will Steven?”
His face softened and then Steven’s voice spoke “I appreciate you apologizing.”
Breaking her own self-imposed rule, Sigyn pressed her lips against Steven’s tenderly. “Thank you. The remark came from an ugly, jealous part of me, a part that I'm not proud of. If you’d like to talk to her, I understand.”
“Later,” he told the princess. “After everything that’s already happened tonight, I just want to enjoy the fact I’m in bloody Buckingham Palace at the moment.”
“And I for one, am very happy you are.”
They ambled back toward the ballroom, taking their time to explore the mostly empty halls of the royal residence, commenting on the different paintings and decor that adorned its towering walls.
“You know, the palace began as a small residence for Queen Charlotte in the late eighteenth century,” Steven briefed the Asgardian as they strolled down a deserted corridor. Sigyn listened with a besotted grin. “It wasn’t until 1837 after a bunch of renovations that a monarch started living here full-time–”
The princess interrupted with a crushing kiss, one that soon escalated into Sigyn clutching at Steven’s lapels and pushing him against a wall.
“Blimey,” Steven panted when they broke apart.
“Sorry…you dressed like this, it’s impossible to resist.” Sigyn yearned.
“You’re one to talk,” Steven muttered, “you look like an old film star.”
“I have no idea what that is, but I hope it’s a good thing.”
Steven chuckled. “That’s right, I forgot you’re not familiar with…wuh-what are you doing?”
The Asgardian now tugged him away from the ballroom. Steven was flummoxed further when it seemed they were heading toward the loos.
“You go into a stall and I’ll meet you inside,” she instructed him when they reached the door to the men’s room.
“Won’t they see you?” he asked, keeping his volume low. Sigyn shook her head and winked.
Oh, she was going to magic herself inside, Steven realized.
Obviously she wants to fuck, Jake piped in from the headspace, Tonto.
“Right, okay,” the British alter stuttered, blindly searching for the door to the men’s room. “See you in a moment then.”
Sigyn bit her lip and nodded, watching Steven disappear fondly. Once he’d passed through the threshold, Sigyn tucked herself out of view into an alcove across from the restrooms and vanished.
It took more concentration and drained Sigyn slightly more to channel her magic to sense exactly where Steven was in the restroom, but it was well-worth it when she materialized in the small, but roomy by most standards, enclosed stall he waited for her in. But it wasn’t Steven who met her.
“Hola,” Jake rumbled into her ear as soon as she appeared and pulled Sigyn into his arms.
She sighed. Leave it to Jake to butt in. “Is he okay with this?”
“Si,” he confirmed, “we’re going to share.”
“For once,” Sigyn added under her breath.
“Que?” Jake had heard her.
“Nothing Papi,” The Asgardian deflected as she lowered herself to the ground.
Jake was all too happy to let the jab go with Sigyn on her knees for him. “What do you have in mind, nena?”
“Well, I think you look good enough to eat,” Sigyn lilted. She made short work of his fly, then separated the flaps of his pants. “So that’s exactly what I am going to do.”
“Bloody hell,” Steven whispered. Sigyn had grown accustomed to her lovers switching while on a mission, but they’d never done it during sex. It sent a hot little shiver down the princess’s spine. “C-can I make a request?”
“Sure, darling,” the princess murmured in between her mouthing at Steven’s rapidly hardening cock through his briefs.
“Will you, um…ohhh…you don’t have to get totally…ugh, that feels so good love, you don’t have to, but could you…” Steven struggled to get his words out since Sigyn had fished his length out of his boxers and was stroking him. He focused and made his ask in one breath. “Couldyouletmeseeyourtits?
Sigyn flicked her gaze to Steven’s eyes from his groin to send him an enticing grin then acquiesced, momentarily taking her hands off his dick to pull down the straps of her dress and expose herself.
The sight of her naked breasts prompted Jake to push to the front. “Me encantan tus tetas, cariño.”
“Have you even let him get a glimpse?” Sigyn inquired, hesitating to resume her ministrations until she got an answer.
“Oh yes, and they’re as gorgeous as ever,” Steven answered.
Satisfied, Sigyn wrapped a hand around her lovers’ cock and leaned in. She began by giving the tip an open mouthed kiss, then swirling her tongue around the head which was now flushed a deep red and leaking precum. The princess relished the salty taste of him, continuing until she received a whimper from Steven before taking more of him into her mouth.
A hand placed itself on the back of the Asgardian’s head to push her further down, but Sigyn slithered out of his grasp. She looked up at Jake, because it was obviously Jake, with burning eyes and a low warning, “If you muss up my hair there will be hell to pay.”
“Can’t you fix it with magic?” he countered.
“I could, but my magic is not an infinite resource,” she explained. “And until now, I had chosen to direct it so I can take your cock into my mouth, but if you’d rather–”
“Bien, lo siento princesa,” Jake surrendered. “Más, por favor? Necesito tu boca.”
When her lover gazed down at her it was Steven again. “Don’t listen to him love, he’s being a git.”
The princess sent him a smirk and picked up where she left off, clasping her hand around the base of his member once more and easing the rest into the warm, wet cavern of her mouth. Sigyn moaned around Steven, the vibrations on his cock delivering a shudder that he felt from the top of his head to the tips of his toes.
She then began bobbing her head steadily, fellating his length with practied ease, leaving her lover to enjoy the sight of her plump lips around his dick and Sigyn’s naked tits on full display.
Steven had been trying to keep his sounds to a minimum, though he was getting a blowjob from an Asgardian goddess in Buckingham Palace of all places, but Sigyn had began to twist her hand that was secure around the base of him while she licked long stripes around his dick.
“AH!” he yelped.
Jake took over, knowing he could keep them quiet and plus, he wanted to feel Sigyn’s mouth for himself. Though he and Steven were sharing their consciousness, sensations were dulled unless one was in the front, and the Asgardian choking on his cock never disappointed.
“Mírate, tan bueno para mí, princesa,” Jake rasped, “Trabajando esa boca sobre mi polla dura.”
His naughty words elicited another moan from Sigyn. The return of the vibrations around his member prompted Jake to thrust into the princess’s mouth. He stopped himself, looking down to Sigyn, his question Can I? clear in dark, lust-filled eyes. She nodded, her mouth still full of dick, giving Jake the permission he needed to fuck her there.
He didn’t waste a second, pistoning his hips into the warm suction with an athletic fluidity. The urge to touch herself was becoming harder to deny for Sigyn, but getting her hand up her long skirt or making the satin disappear altogether was proving to be too much effort as Jake drove himself between her lips.
Instead, the Asgardian rubbed her thighs together for some relief and fondled her own breasts. Knowing that the sight of her thumbing and pinching her own nipples would also drive Steven absolutely mad convinced Sigyn to do it.
“Fuuuuuuuck,” came the drawn-out groan from Steven. “You’re a revelation, love, so beautiful and sexy.”
Jake forced a quick switch so he could goad her further, “Sí, juega con esas tetas para mí. Vas a hacer que nos corramos.”
Sigyn moved her hands at the mention of them coming, she took one of her lovers’ thick ass cheeks in her hands and pushed their cock in deeper. The Asgardian controlled the pace and depth of their thrusts, before holding them in place so their dick was halfway down her throat, and swallowed around the thick appendage.
Steven, well at least the princess thought it was Steven, orgasmed with an unabashed shout. His hot cum spurted straight down Sigyn’s throat, and as hard as she tried, she couldn’t swallow without coughing a little.
Next thing she knew, a pair of large, gentle hands were helping her to her feet. Sigyn only needed to look into those eyes for a second to know who it was. He brought his lips to hers, pouring all of his satisfaction and gratitude into the kiss they shared.
When at last they broke apart, Steven dotted more presses of his lips down the column of her neck, making sure to scatter kisses all over the tops of Sigyn’s tits while he held them in his hands. “What do you need, love?”
“I’m alright for now,” she assured him.
Steven pulled away to look at his lover and make sure he was hearing correctly. She chuckled softly at his expression then continued in a whisper. “We should be getting back. You can make it up to me later, however. I want your mouth on me.”
Despite just having come, Steven’s cock tried to harden once again. He drew Sigyn toward him and rumbled, “Your wish is my command.”
“I’ll see you back in the ballroom,” she told him. The pair exchanged one last parting kiss before the Asgardian’s form dissolved into a cloud of golden dust.
Jake shattered his alter’s post-climax bliss when he chimed in, We should put our cock away, don’t you think, hombre?
***
Sigyn materialized in a stall in the women’s restrooms. After the beat she required to catch her breath and readjust her gown, she discreetly exited the small cubicle, banking on the assumption that everyone would be too drunk or self-involved to realize they hadn’t seen her enter.
The princess strolled to the large mirrors adorning the marble walls of the bathroom. While she checked to make sure her lipstick wasn’t too smudged or her updo ruined, Layla emerged from one of the stalls. Sigyn froze as the Midgardian joined her at the sinks, unsure of how to proceed. It seemed rude to leave without acknowledging her, but the Asgardian hadn't the faintest idea of what to say.
“Oh. I didn’t realize you were in here,” Layla remarked while she washed her hands.
“I slipped in a moment ago,” she replied, providing her with an explanation that wasn’t altogether untrue. Sigyn wracked her brain while Layla primped a bit in the mirror. She was truly a beautiful woman. It would have been one thing if Marc had married some homely childhood sweetheart, but Layla was exquisite. She could easily pass for a goddess herself, which was why the princess had been, and still was, so envious of Marc’s ex-wife.
Sigyn tried to suppress her inner green-eyed monster. At the very least, she owed it to Marc to make an effort to be civil. So, the princess defaulted to what on Asgard was always a safe topic with her femme peers. “I don’t believe I said it earlier, but I love your ensemble. It suits you perfectly.
“Thank you,” said Layla in return.
When she didn’t say anything more or return the compliment, Sigyn decided to cut her losses and leave. She needed to touch base with Thor and Valkyrie anyway.
“You know, I never thought he’d go for a blonde.”
Layla’s voice stopped the Asgardian in her tracks.
“Well, if there’s anything I’ve learned about Marc, it’s that he’s full of surprises.” Sigyn effaced.
“Has he told you anything about me? About us?” Sigyn recognized Layla's tone. It caused a pit of sadness to twist her stomach. The woman was obviously still in love with Marc, and he made it clear earlier that he wasn’t completely over her either.
Where did that leave Sigyn? She didn’t think she loved Loki anymore, her one condition for going back to him being if the fate of the multiverse and innocent lives were at stake. The Asgardian couldn’t help but feel like she was playing a losing game with Marc, but decided to treat Layla as she’d hoped the Egyptian would treat her if their roles were reversed, since it seemed like they could be at any moment.
“Who, Marc?” Sigyn clarified as she turned around. “Barely a word. Just that you were married. Steven however, has shared a little.”
“So you’ve met them both,” she noted. Her face was impossible to read.
Sigyn nodded, clocking her referral to the system as “both”. She didn’t correct Layla, it wasn’t her place to inform her about Jake. “Layla, for what it’s worth, you’re irreplaceable to him.”
“Please don’t patronize me.” The hurt in her eyes made Sigyn’s heart ache. She knew it too well.
“I wouldn’t dream of it,” the princess professed. “It's the truth. And I respect that.”
“Well that’s a relief, I guess.” The bitterness in her tone betrayed that she wasn’t relieved in the slightest. “After all, I can’t compete with a goddess.”
“You sell yourself short,” Sigyn disagreed, “not to mention you’re not being entirely forthright. I can sense the divinity within you. You’re still in the service of Taweret, then?”
“Only when she needs me,” Layla explained. “Not like they are.”
“I should hope not. Khonshu is a menace.”
“You’ve met him too.”
“Once,” she neglected to include any more details. “I cannot say I’m fond of him.”
“What are you two doing?” Layla opted for directness, tired of the thinly veiled niceties. “Marc isn’t a kept man, so I know it’s something more. More than sleeping together, that is. ”
Sigyn chose to ignore the perfectly aimed barb Layla pitched at her. “He’s helping me find Loki.”
“And what qualifies you to do that?”
“I’m his estranged wife.”
The revelation silenced Layla. Until she remembered a moment later, “But he’s dead.”
“In this universe, yes,” the Asgardian concurred, “but in mine, he’s very much alive, and is currently aiding in the effort to rid the multiverse of every god.”
“That doesn’t make any sense,” Layla objected. “He’s a god himself.”
“The god of mischief and chaos, infamous for betraying even his closest allies,” Sigyn continued, “Loki and Gorr are playing each other, both confident they’ll be the one to double-cross the other first. If it is indeed Loki who does, he’ll be the only deity left, and he’ll be considered all-powerful. I need to stop him before that happens, seeing as they’ve already left a trail of destruction in their wake.”
Layla processed the information as quickly as she could. “And why does Gorr want all gods to die?”
“He was scorned by one, we’ve gathered,” the princess answered. “He lost a loved one, found the Necrosword – a blade that can kill a god – and has been seeking his retribution since.”
“I need to warn Taweret,” she concluded.
“We were hoping not to rouse widespread fear and panic just yet, but I won’t stop you from telling her.”
Layla had more questions. “Does Khonshu know?”
“Yes.”
“I’m sure he hates that you’re working with them,” Layla presumed with a bitter laugh.
“Why would you think that?”
“Because he hated me. He hated anything that distracted his avatar from his almighty bidding,” Layla explained, a mocking tone dripping from the last two words of her answer. Then the mortal woman changed course, “Is that why your party insisted on speaking to the Wakandans alone? “
Before Sigyn could confirm, a loud crash reverberated from of the bathroom, followed by a chorus of distressed cries.
The two women shared a concerned, knowing look with each other, then raced out of the loo. Their forms shimmered, their respective armors enveloping them, as Sigyn and Layla sprinted back to the ballroom.
Layla took flight and the most Sigyn could make out when she returned was a fallen chandelier and a scattering crowd before a pair of hands grasped her shoulders.
“You’re both here,” the suit her lover wore identified him as Marc. His hood evaporated to reveal his face. “And you’re ok, thank God.”
Green bolts of light flew past Sigyn and Marc, but the princess had more urgent concerns. “How angry are you at me?”
“There’s more happening right now than us,” Marc chose to focus on the matter at hand.
“Oh please,” Sigyn scoffed, appearing nonplussed at the chaos unfolding around her.  “These are just his usual theatrics.”
“His usual theatrics?” Marc repeated incredulously. “Sigyn, you’ve got to make him stop.”
The goddess agreed. So, she stomped her foot and yelled at the top of her lungs “LOKI!!! STOP!!!!”
It was a simple move, but an effective one. Loki's onslaught ceased and the estranged couple zeroed in on one another across the ballroom.
Loki towered at the top of the staircase. He looked worse for wear, the bags so deep under his wild, icy eyes they could pass as bruises, his long hair disheveled. There seemed to be no color left in his face, the entirety of his complexion a wan, pallid hue. Sigyn couldn’t stop the wifely pang of concern that bubbled up at the sight of him.
“Ah. There you are,” he remarked with utmost nonchalance. Loki began his descent down the grand staircase with the grace of a large cat. He may have looked like shit, but the god appeared to retain his smooth gait and carriage.
Sigyn had to keep him talking to give Layla, Valkyrie and the Wakandans time to usher everyone away from the wreckage. Marc and Thor stood sentinel behind Sigyn on either side of her. She threw her arms wide and responded “Indeed, here I am. And I was having an excellent time until you arrived.”
“Now pet, is that any way to greet your husband?” He inquired as he crossed the ballroom. Ugh, he knew she hated when he called her “pet”.
Loki caught sight of Marc and his features pulled into a scowl. “Pity. If you’d kept your legs shut, I would’ve made you my queen.”
“Now that’s one of your bolder fictions,” Sigyn parried as if critiquing him. She had to keep him talking. “Your jealousy is as plain as the nose on your face.”
“Gods do not get jealous.”
“That may be true, but sad little boys from Asgard certainly do.”
“And what of sad little girls, hm?” Loki shot back. “Did my departure upset you so that you sought comfort in that broken excuse for a Midgardian?”
Sigyn extinguished the flame of anger the insult ignited before it could consume her. Instead, she blew an unprincess-like raspberry with her lips. “Ha! Because you’re the picture of soundness of mind.”
“You two were ridiculously easy to evade, you know. It was quite pathetic, really.”
Marc lurched, making an imperceptible start forward, he wanted to deal with the mad Asgardian himself but Khonshu weighed in, That would not be a wise move, Marc Spector. This is a matter between two spouses currently.
He wasn’t particularly interested in what they had to say, especially after Khonshu’s marionette act and untoward advance toward Sigyn earlier. So Marc glanced to his side to confer with Thor. It was when the god of thunder gave him a little shake of the head -- non-verbally telling him to stand down– did Marc stay put.
“Then why did you come?” Sigyn demanded.
“Convenience,” he answered simply. “I figured I could raze the Egyptian pantheon as well as the man who dared defile my wife.”
“I am no longer your wife. You left me, without so much as a goodbye or an explanation to wreak untold havoc on innocents. Our ill-conceived union, for all intents and purposes, is over.”
“Did you ever consider that my actions were to protect you? Us? Asgard?”
Sigyn looked him straight in the eye and answered truthfully. “No. Because your selfishness knows no bounds.”
“You truly want me to tear your little toy limb from limb, don’t you?” He asked. His gaze flicked to where Marc stood, resembling a caged animal waiting to pounce.
“You’ll have to go through me first,” she challenged him.
Loki balked at her threat. “You?! I’m the one who taught you magic and how to fight for Valhalla’s sake!”
“Theoric and my brothers taught me to fight,” she corrected him, refusing to cower when he arrived where she stood, “and your mother taught me the magic you refused to when you feared it would make me too powerful.”
“Lies,” he spat at her. Bringing Frigga in was a low blow, but it was the truth.
Now that the ballroom was cleared, it was time for Sigyn to pivot. She’d distracted him, now she needed to make Loki so angry he’d attack without a strategy. Mentioning her mother-in-law was the most effective topic, though it pained the princess to do so. She adored Frigga.
“You know I’m not lying,” Sigyn continued in a low, measured voice. “How does it feel darling, to know that deep down she didn’t trust you? That you realized her worst fears and utterly devastated her when you joined Gorr’s cause? And you believe you weren’t given the throne because we haven’t had a child yet? It’s absolutely mad–”
She wasn’t able to finish her rebuke, Loki lunged at her. Sigyn knew to expect it, but the flash of movement sprung Thor and Marc into action all the same. Layla, Valkyrie and the Wakandans were hot on their heels.
He may have only been one man, but Loki was a formidable opponent. Beyond his skill in hand-to-hand combat, he was the most advanced sorcerer Asgard had seen in a millennia. The god duplicated himself several times over to confuse his adversaries. Even though Sigyn knew this move of his well, it angered her when she’d go to strike Loki, only for his form to shimmer away.
To make matters worse, his daggers were now tipped with the black tar of the Necrosword which meant that the coalition had not only a mad god to deal with, but a hoard of dark, shifting nightmarish creatures. Marc was impressed with Sigyn’s prowess as a warrior, however. She was more than able to hold her own in a fight, slicing through the copies of Loki and shadow-monsters with her signature grace and agility.
Speaking of grace and agility, Marc was shaken from his observation of the pandemonium around him when Layla zoomed past him. He snapped back to the scrum and found himself face-to-face with Loki, the blow the god landed across his cheek confirming it was him and not an illusion.
“You,” Loki fumed.
The Midgardian knew he could take him, but Loki’s anger had unhinged him. He rained his fury down on Marc, and despite the suit and his aptitude in a fight, Loki prostrated him in a headlock and with a blade to his throat.
“Death at my hand is more than you deserve,” the god snarled into Marc’s ear. He could feel Jake trying to push to the front, but Marc held him at bay for the time being. This was personal between him and Loki. “I’m going to make you regret the day your bitch mother whelped you into this dismal world of yours.”
Layla caught sight of what was happening, and raced toward the pair without hesitation. Loki responded by conjuring more creatures to impede her and pressed his blade closer to Marc’s throat. “Layla is ravishing though, and what fire. What they see in you I can’t fathom.”
If Marc couldn’t speak, he would’ve joked that he agreed. Or since Loki was being particularly dickish, suggest that the reason they preferred him was because he was a better lay.
But no comeback was made, and the god resumed his threat while he watched Layla take down the shadows, “I’ll spare her, I think, make her a concubine. That’s only fair, hmm? Eye for an eye? Wife for a wife?”
Threatening Layla unleashed Jake. He escaped out of Loki’s hold and began to pummel the god, the Midgardian’s anger now matching Loki’s. Layla joined to try and restrain him, hopefully putting an end to the chaos, but the two were interrupted by a screech that reverberated throughout the ballroom, “STOP!!”
Sigyn had said it. Marc pushed to the front once more, and halted along with Layla. What was this, a moment of mercy? Were the centuries she’d been married to Loki getting the best of her?
“He’s mine,” she asserted lowly.
Alright then, Steven chimed in. We’re not feeling so merciful after all.
Sigyn stalked across the ballroom with her sword, a deceptively cloying smile on her lips.
“The Midgardians have a phrase,” She began, breezing past Marc and Layla to where Loki stood, bloodied and brooding. “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” The princess fixed her estranged husband with a wicked smirk. “I’m rather fond of it.”
The Asgardian rained down her fury on her husband after that. Her limbs were a blur of movement and magic as she attacked Loki. The god parried and defended himself as best he could, but Marc suspected he was pulling his punches. After everything he’d done to her, Loki couldn’t bring himself to defeat Sigyn.
“How could you?!” The princess’s beating continued. “I stayed with you after you tricked me into marrying you, and this is what I get?! I can never go home now, you realize that? YOU’VE MADE ME THE LAUGHINGSTOCK OF ASGARD!”
“Seeg-” Loki tried to respond but his wife punched him square in the jaw.
“We were happy, weren’t we?” Sigyn’s hits were getting sloppy as her emotion overwhelmed her. “Weren’t we? Why wasn’t that enough for you?”
Tears blurred Sigyn’s vision, causing her to miss her target when she went to kick Loki. She’d flattened her husband out on the polished stone floor. Marc wanted to go to her, but Layla caught his wrist, cautioning him with her eyes about entering her space.
It was Thor who approached her, he inched toward her slowly, as if walking across eggshells or to a skittish animal. Sigyn collapsed into his broad chest, sobs wracking her heaving form. In the meantime, the Wakandans swooped in and restrained Loki with enhanced handcuffs of Shuri’s design.
“Sigyn,” Loki wheezed. She peeked out from her brother’s pecs. Once he knew he had her attention, the god gasped out, “I’m sorry.”
As soon as he apologized however, Loki disappeared. The entire team lunged to try and stop him, but no one was fast enough.
“Fuck!” Marc swore.
“He shouldn’t have been able to do that,” Shuri was reeling at the failure of her tech. “We tested it and everything! Why on Earth–”
“That’s just it,” Sigyn interrupted her. “He’s not of earth, or this universe. Besides, you tested the cuffs on me, and I don’t have the same scope of power that he does.”
“There’s also the influence of the blade to consider,” Valkyrie added.
“Are there any injuries?” Sigyn asked Nakia.
“A few minor ones,” she replied. “Nothing serious.”
“Good. Then perhaps all this wreckage wasn’t for naught.”
Layla couldn’t hold in her scoff of disbelief, “How do you figure?”
The princess looked down at her bloodied knuckles. She inhaled deeply to concentrate, holding one hand forward and waving its twin over the skin where her and Loki’s blood co-mingled. A golden screen of intricate swirls of dust bloomed from Sigyn’s efforts and a bead of sweat trickled down from her forehead. Clearly, this magic took much exertion on her part, especially after this evening’s events.
Bloody hell, marveled Steven. Marc couldn’t help but agree. He examined the cloud that’d appeared above Sigyn’s hand, only needing ten or seconds to recognize that it was a map.
“Because now we can follow him.”
A/N: yay! we made it! Man this part of the fic has been giving me trouble for ages!! Hope everyone enjoyed!

#3, 8, 11, 14, and 16 for the Rebelsvengers Au!
*maul voice* what fun!
3. Did anything inspire this au?
Yes! Exactly two lines of dialogue, to be precise! Which lines? I'll tell you!
"Just like Krownest, all over again!" "You and I remember Krownest very differently!"
And thus, this AU was born.
8. What platonic relationships are important in this au?
Ok, so. Obviously, the Space Parents & Space Kids (er... Super Parents and Super Kids?) are a big one! But besides that, I think the platonic relationship with the most overall effect on the events and plot of this AU (not including friendships with romantic undertones) would have to be Rex and Ahsoka. Even after she's corrupted, he never loses faith in her, which is a major motivator in her redemption/recovery, and her return to heroics leads to her joining the Rebelvengers with hilarious results.
Another one is between the kids and Zeb. Ezra is an outcast in both of his worlds(humans and Jotuns); Zeb's transformation also makes him shunned from a normal life. Sabine was turned into a killer at the Academy; Zeb was turned into a raging purple giant by science. They've all been called "monsters." Their similarities help them bond and heal. (Also, Sabine and Ezra recruit Zeb for their ballet troupe.)
11. Is there any relationship that's different in this au than in the source material?
boyohboy, YES! There's several. The biggest one I can think of is Ahsoka & the Spectres. Due to slow Asgardian aging, she's still about the human equivalent of 16 when she's captured, corrupted, and sent to Earth with an evil magic stick, instead of being the 30-something Fulcrum agent she was in Rebels, so you can imagine her relationship with them is a little rockier than in Star Wars canon. But, since she's basically a child under mind control, not just an adult being influenced by the Scepter like Loki, the Spectres are able to forgive her and eventually accept her into their group, once she's been cured of her madness.
Other than that big once, Kallus (who is a good guy from the start) being Ezra & Sabine's "uncool uncle figure" comes to mind, and TBB being Hera's big brothers, too!
14. Write a little snippet set in this verse, but with a character you haven't used so far. (Or if you've used everyone, one you haven't utilized much.)
Ooh... oh, here's an idea!
"Tech?" Hera asked, noticing the furrow between his brows. "Is something wrong?" "It's likely nothing," he ventured. Hera shook her head. "It's something. What is it?" "Well..." Tech said, slowly. "I've been hearing... rumors... regarding the Tipoca School for Boys." "So have I. Rumor has it that it's a front for an evil mad science organization experimenting in cloning, right?" Hera said. "But... come on, that's impossible! It's just some conspiracy theory." "Maybe." Tech held out his tablet to her, showing the data displayed. "Maybe not."
16. Are there any ocs in this fic?
Okay, I was gonna say no, but then I remembered I don't have a Darcy Lewis character yet, so I may steal one of my Slightly Unhinged OCs from another AU and have that be her!
also. wait. hold up. if ezra is the hawkeye character, then gremlinchild rune could be kate bishop. i think i may be onto something here.

Title: Love and Loss
Tumblr media
Pairing: loki x female reader ( I used the name Freya but feel free to replace it with your name.)
Summary: she is pregnant with Loki's child.
Warning: mention of death, complications in child birth.
In the realm of Asgard, Loki paced nervously in his chambers, his mind racing with worry. He had recently discovered that his beloved wife, Freya, was pregnant with their child. But there was a complexity to this pregnancy that filled him with both anticipation and anxiety.
Freya was a demigoddess, a mortal blessed with divine heritage, and Loki himself, a Frost Giant turned Asgardian prince. The combination of their bloodlines made their unborn child unique and powerful, but it also presented a challenge. A human body was not designed to withstand the immense magical and physical energies that coursed through the veins of their child.
As the months passed, Freya's health grew increasingly fragile. Loki, who was well-versed in magic, sought out every possible solution to ensure her well-being. He consulted healers, seers, and scholars, but the fate of their child remained uncertain. Freya remained strong and resolute, her love for Loki giving her the strength to face the challenges that lay ahead.
One fateful night, as the realm was shrouded in darkness, Freya's labor began unexpectedly early. Loki's heart raced as he summoned healers and midwives to their side. The atmosphere was tense as he clung to Freya's hand, his grip unyielding as they faced the labor together.
The birth was both a miracle and a tragedy. Freya's strength wavered as she brought their children into the world – a boy and a girl, each bearing a unique blend of frost and divine energy. A mixture of elation and terror coursed through Loki's veins as he held his newborn twins, their eyes filled with a curious mixture of innocence and power.
But the strain on Freya's mortal body had been too much to bear. As the sun rose on a new day, it cast its light on a world forever changed. Freya's life had been given for the birth of their children, a sacrifice that left Loki shattered.
Grief consumed him, but he was determined to keep his promise to Freya – to give their children the best life possible. He named them Astrid, the girl with Freya's fiery spirit, and Eirik, the boy who carried Loki's mischievous spark.
Despite the loss of their mother, Loki poured all of his energy into nurturing and protecting Astrid and Eirik. He delved into ancient texts and sought guidance from powerful sorcerers to ensure their survival. His heart ached as he saw his children's health deteriorate without their mother's presence, but he refused to let them suffer.
Loki's love for his children became a fierce, unbreakable bond. He nurtured their powers, taught them about their heritage, and shielded them from the dangers that lurked in the Nine Realms. He watched them grow, finding solace in their laughter and shared moments.
As the years passed, Loki's heart remained heavy with grief, but his love for Freya and their children kept him going. Astrid and Eirik flourished under his care, growing stronger and wiser with each passing day.
And so, in the realm of Asgard, a tale of love, loss, and unbreakable determination unfolded. Loki, once a trickster god, had become a devoted father who defied fate itself to give his children the life they deserved. The legacy of Freya lived on through their laughter, their courage, and the eternal bond they shared with a father who would do anything to protect them.
