I've been cooking up this concept in my head but I've noticed the more I get into newer fandoms that end up having a younger fanbase, the more I'm noticing a certain... I don't know, inability to engage with media in a way that they don't insert their own personal experiences into the narrative, even when these personal experiences don't align with the narrative's themes.
To give you an example, I recently read a fanfiction of mine I wrote when I was 17. This fanfiction involved Japanese characters, yet I used incredibly British ways of phrasing that would have been disarming to anyone not British. Which is fine, localisation is something which has to take liberties with language and will always be distant from the original texts' meaning, but there's something in there about not being conscious that my target audience don't have the same frames of reference.
I think it's something to do with recognising that the world you know is vastly different to the world others live in. As someone in the UK, I will engage with media written by people who are not me, who don't come from the same culture as me, and who have different interpretations of life and associated events.
Sometimes when you're reading a piece of media, you are not the target audience and that's fine. You need to take a step back and realise that this person is writing from a place that is very different to what you know. And that is like, INTEGRAL to the story. There are layers you're missing because you don't understand the perspective in which it was written, and I think that's fine, I think that's something you learn about over time. I think it's just something that is unavoidable to us as human beings.
But I guess to tie this into my first point, yeah I don't think younger people in fandom have the same grasp on this concept. It's actually making it really hard for me to get involved in fandoms because some of the interpretations of these characters are so completely off-base it's just bewildering. Like it comes from a place of, "I like this media, and this is my interpretation of the world, therefore I'm going to warp this media to fit my interpretation of the world."
Anyway this is the image that inspired me to make this post:

Shubble and Wilbur situation
This is a post compiling links to all the information on the Shelby Grace aka Shubble (formerly lilshortysgs, she/they) and William Patrick Spencer Gold aka Wilbur Soot (formerly SootHouse Wilbur and current lead singer of Lovejoy, he/him) situation that I have found. I tried my best to keep my language neutral and put all the data in one easy to look through place so that everyone can see it and make their own decisions (I also attempted to reblog most of it myself so that the version linked is frozen to the one that existed when I read it). I've included a post with the public reactions of content creators, which - while decidedly not neutral - show the public reactions of a lot of people who knew one or both of them at the time.
That being said, I'm one person. I probably missed plenty of stuff and there is most likely new information that has came out since I posted this, but I tried my best with what I had while also sick with bronchitis. The post I personally made on the subject is linked at the very bottom (I wanted to be as transparent as possible).
Anyway, here is everything I've gathered.
(Also, for anyone who is still learning English, bias in this case means something that sways opinion one way or the other)
The re-upload of Shubble's video on YouTube (Post where video was taken from is at the bottom of this post due to containing the opinion of a tumblr user)
youtube
Post that describes Shubble's video in text form for anyone who can't watch the video
Note: Text concerning the video is fairly neutral and accurate (other than Wilbur's name being used which was not stated in the video and was revealed later), but the last paragraph at the bottom contains @mysticalblue09 's opinion as someone who does not personally know Shubble or Wilbur (as far as I am aware), so be mindful of that.
Link to Wilbur's appology on Twitter/X

Post with image of Wilbur's appology and a compilation of reactions (bias warning). Original post by @raixkim with additions by @galaxyempire-lilith (both all verified by me) and myself (all images save a link to one reaction and embedded video of another)
Note: I went through various minecraft roleplay wikis and former and current members of Lovejoy and added as many screenshots as I was allowed to in my reply (image limit) on March 4th (then I got to sick to finish the post). This is only to show how people in their circle at the time and former and current Lovejoy members publicly reacted to the news and not to gossip or shame someone for what they did or did not say. (Also, I genuinely attempted to find public posts by someone who knew one or both of them that was supporting Wilbur or even not supporting Shubble to keep my addition neutral, but I found none on my own after going through multiple discords and over 70 Twitter/X profiles, so I had to eventually give up)
Shelby's full statement on Wilbur's apology (just images)

----------
Below are links to a couple how tos, links to posts by tumblr users that contains personal bias, and my own post on the topic. These things are all by people not directly affiliated with the parties involved. While most of them are not actively combative, most show some level of bias towards Wilbur Soot/Gold. I put all of them at the bottom because I wanted readers to make up their own minds without being influenced by my opinions or the opinions of people not connected to Shubble or Wilbur. Hopefully by this point, you'll know if you want to read more or stop here.
My personal reaction
Ideas on what to do with merch from things you no longer like/want to support by @elfchaos
Bands similar to Lovejoy by @st4rryskiescO
Tip: You can block an artist on Spotify mobile (some sites say it doesn't work on desktop) by going to the artist profile, clicking the 3 dot menu, and selecting "Don't play this." As of this time, I could not find a similar feature on Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, or Pandora other than individually disliking songs.
The post I found the Shubble video embedded in with a list of what @proudfreakmetarusonniku felt they learned during the video
Post that contains the opinions of @mor-starz on Wilbur's influence going forward. Includes a link to a video that summarizes everything (video wasn't linked in the previous section because while it is the closest to neutral I found, there was still bias in the video and thumbnail)
A post with reactions of Wilbur's reddit community and some of his mods by @megastrangeskeleton
Since then, all twitch mods have been removed/unmodded by Wilbur as well as the bot that linked to charities. According to multiple former mods (including kalli which can be found on twitter/x), someone made a new account on May 1st that is a Simpson's reference (jebediahspringfield12345), followed Wilbur, and was modded by Wilbur within minutes of following, leading them to believe that Wilbur made an alt account (named after a show he's known to enjoy) and then made that account a mod to avoid getting banned for having an unmodded account.

Thank you for talking about the ills of isolation and withdrawing during a moment where we need collective action, whatever that may look like for each one of us.
I have been thinking a lot about how I want to belong to groups who are doing things I care about and what gets in the way of that goal. A huge difficulty I have as an autistic woman and a woc in a small town in a white majority country is that often even with people whose politics I broadly agree with, there is a lot of interpersonal unease and irritation to get through. This is probably sometimes as much my fault as theirs. But sometimes it's stuff like people openly rolling their eyes at my name (too foreign and hard apparently) or me finding some of the things they say awful (a queer rights group still being racist for example) or just finding people annoying to be around at times.
How do I show up in these spaces and create a community without burning out from annoyance/disappointment/the everyday alienation of it all? Surely moving to a big city cannot be a practical answer when it's not affordable? And surely there must be a way to be honest about my politics and stand up for myself and still be in halfway progressive spaces that are doing good work and are best options right now in terms of proximity and impact? My parents' answer (different generation, country, culture) was always keep your head down and stay out of difficult things like organizing. I am tired of living like that. But I also feel I am too angry and too unfit to deal with the everyday reality of what people are like to be able to part of movements. The alternative though is to having a panic attack while reading the news and sink into despair and helplessness which sucks. Am I missing an obvious way out here? As always, very grateful to you for your wisdom and clarity on living uncowered.
Thank you so much for your wonderful message and question. I am admittedly a little out of my depth in some ways in answering this, I feel, as a white person and a man who people don't tend to subject to the worst of the kind of treatment that you're speaking to. (What I do get is people thinking that expressing the prejudices will be acceptable to me, which I have the responsibility to shut down as often as humanly possible, so that spaces don't have a such a dogshit culture and alienate tons of people like you).
I think you do really have to look over your own bandwidth, and determine for you what is tolerable and what isn't. As a trans person, there are slightly "off" little comments that I'll accept from someone who isn't well versed in the topic, and differences in how elders talk and think about gender that I'll tolerate bemusedly, but if it ventures into any area that makes the space explicitly hostile to trans people who are more vulnerable than me, then it's something I need to fight about or I need to abandon the space.
For a woman of color like yourself, I think that kind of decision making is a lot more fraught, because frankly I never have to worry about anybody really escalating their bullshit with me too badly, and they'll want to forget it pretty quickly after the conflict even if I do challenge them.
(This propensity towards midwest nicey-ness / white person fake nicey-ness can sometimes be leveraged to win a battle or two -- when I have obviously, unquestionably shut down someone's ignorance or read them for filth diplomatically for making a really dumb point, often the other person's impulse is to backtrack and make nice or pretend that what they said never happened, while also never doing it again in my presence, and in plenty of situations, that's plenty good enough. I have seen this kind of maneuvering work for people of color too, especially in groups like churches, volunteer organizations, cultural affinity groups, and the like, where there is a strong bias towards everybody getting along...sometimes that awful cultural norm can be shifted to your advantage if you Make the Person Saying the Fucked Up Thing the Awkward One.)
I think a lot of what you'll have to do is discern between the groups where you can push back against the remarks and policies that are unacceptable to you but basically get along with well-enough intentioned people, and the groups where you will be singled out and treated poorly for speaking up or ever asserting yourself. It also really helps to befriend all the other people of color & neurodivergent people in the space early on into joining a group, so you have people to lean on and you can get their lay of the land.
I wish I had advice that was more targeted and immediately actionable, but I think a lot of this is a very subtle dance based on the community spaces you move within, your political goals, the people within the space, the norms within that space surrounding conflict, how many other poc are there, etc etc. You will probably have to try a couple of groups before you find one that is tolerable enough for you because a) the people arent That Fucked Up, and b) they can kind of handle conflict some of the time at least. Please don't be disheartened if things feel awkward or a few of your first tries have rancid vibes. You can also take steps to build the very community spaces that you want -- by reaching out to other people of color in the area and forming your own groups that can then partner with these kind of annoying white majority organizations. The autonomy is useful and may preserve some social and emotional spoons, but at the cost of having to do a lot of organizing work. So, tradeoffs.
Would love to hear in the comments from people of color who do organizing in non-urban areas and have to deal with a lot of white people nonsense.

md's fun silly little top 10(ish) arts of the 2023!*
*pretend there's a fun cute doodled banner here (i was going to make one earlier and then i forgor)
doing a lil recap of my top 10 15 (it was supposed to be 10 and i could not narrow it down oops) best(? this is subjective as fuck i guess it's more like my personal faves) drawings of the year! *the crowd cheers* (it’s me I’m the crowd)
15: paradise by the dashboard light! i hate to rank her so low bc i spent ages on her but it seems i don't love the result that much anymore so :/ a for effort for me tho this was ambitious
14: cheer girl loml <33 not my best art technically by far but i went way out of my comfort zone for the background and the art style (for no good reason really) (i just wanted to do a comic book thing bc superhero vibes or whatever) (it did not come out the way i was hoping it would bc i think i got too frustrated) and we simply must acknowledge that. atog did things to me that i cannot explain
13: barbie meme brittana! not my best britt but truly sooo fun to work on. there's nothing quite like finding a fun rendering process and then never using it again (i don't even remember how i coloured this but i like it)
12: cowboy barbie brittana <3 they look good, they're about to kiss, cute outfits, pretty sunset, probably went overboard with the rim lighting, what's not to love? a banger, i think
11: i say a little prayer! i think the background is. questionable at best. but this is still really fun! i think i got possessed when i got to the uniforms bc goddamn they look good
10: klaine?? on this blog???? almost unheard of lmao i truly did not think i would like this one as much as i did. i'd consider ranking it higher if i wasn't constantly Unwell over brittana but again, i'm biased, and no one here should be surprised about that
9: pre-wedding kiss my beloved! with how insane i've been over this kiss it could perhaps be higher. i am gnawing on my desk as we speak i'm not even sitting at a desk rn
8: rutherchang x black swan!! ohhh u guys i don't talk about this one enough i think it's so pretty i don't even remember how i did the colours for it but rhgfdkngd?? love her, love pushing the glee x bts agenda, if any of u gifmakers are interested in making a mike chang x black swan lyric gifset i will love u forever
7: colour wheel challenge! busted my whole tiddies and ass for this one fellas. labour of love etc etc i think staring at the bright colours for so long made my eyesight worse and i'm ok with that
6: mistletoe brittana <33 easily the best instalment of this series by a long shot! recency bias (and also just. regular bias) made me rank her much higher originally but technically she is not the most intricate piece so she must sit down here
5: prom queen kurt! dare i say a girlslay on my behalf? i think i dare. every time i see it i think i should do more glosters (glee posters) and then i don't. i could tho they would be really cool (source: dude trust me)
4: churro kiss redraw!!! genuinely Not Sane over this! never have been, never will be! redraws are like crack to me and so is this kiss
3: furtana!! i neglected them for far too long this year but if neglecting them results in art like this i may have to do it again
2: heart kiss <3 if we're being really honest and vulnerable in the chat tonight i think this is technically my best of the brittana kiss screencap redraw things i've done this year? which i did not see coming but i guess practice means refining the process etc etc so. it makes sense ig. mwah to them <3
1: black or white gcv animation <3 it's not what i would call my best drawing (bc it's, yknow, not just one drawing) but it is what i would call the product of a very obsessive thought and some frantic art sessions. objectively it's the coolest thing i've done this year so it deserves the top spot. i'm proud of it i hope to glanimate more next year. also this isn't art but it's a relevant post that i still stand by months later

Hi!!! I was at the Tolkien conference today and I loved your paper!!! I was too nervous to ask during the Q&A, but I was wondering how the Catholic belief that you should not grieve the dead because they're in a better place had effected Tolkien's writing about death and grief. Especially in the context of his own life, and how he writes death as something to be celebrated and that it is a gift from the Valar.
Thank you so much!!!!
I'm glad you enjoyed the paper and thank you for asking about it! The paper Grief, Grieving, and Permission to Mourn in the Quenta Silmarillion is on my website (and the SWG), for anyone who is interested.
Whether or not there is a connection between Catholic belief and Tolkien's idea of "the gift of Men," I cannot say. There might be! But I think it's also important that Tolkien's eschatology for Mortals was emphatically not consistent with Catholic doctrine. At first it was. The Book of Lost Tales describes an afterlife for Mortals that Christopher Tolkien identifies as strongly parallel to the Catholic ideas of Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory. Christopher calls these lingering parallels "disconcerting." (This can be found in his commentary on the chapter Of the Valar and the Building of Valinor in BoLT1.)
In the published Silmarillion ("Of the Beginning of Days"), there is some degree of uncertainty still, among the Elves, about exactly what "leaving the Circles of the World" actually means: "It is one with this gift of freedom that the children of Men dwell only a short space in the world alive, and are not bound to it, and depart soon whither the Elves know not." This has always struck me as a very Elven perspective: They know that they are bound to the world and will receive no reprieve from it and will grow weary in its confines. It's a typical manifestation of the aphorism that "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence." To Mortals, who are subjected to this mysterious leaving of the world—often prematurely, from their perspective—this doesn't seem a great deal. We see this in the Athrabeth Finrod ah Andreth, where we actually get the Mortal perspective, and later in the unease of the Númenóreans about their fate. (Conveniently, any Mortals who don't go along with the Elven perspective are "confounded" by Melkor. Mmmm, right.)
But, importantly I think, these Mortals are not going on to a reward in their afterlife, like the Catholic conception of Heaven. They don't know what lies beyond the Circles of the World, and neither do the Elves. The Elves just think, whatever it is, it must be better than their own fate. It actually reminds me more of the Hindu concepts of samsara and moksha: release from the travail of constant rebirth, constant life. From the Elven perspective, Mortals just get to take off for the weekend; Elves are stuck always on the graveyard shift.
Now do I think that the Elven conception of Mortals getting the better death might explain why only six of sixty-four named Mortal characters in the Quenta Silmarillion are grieved or mourned. It is very possible that an Elven narrator saw these deaths as going off to something better ... but we know clearly that Mortals don't see it that way, so why Pengolodh doesn't report more frequently on the grief of Mortals for their lost friends and family remains an open question that I think is probably explained by bias: not so much political bias in this case but the bias of a long-lived being to the perceived ephemerality (and inconsequence) of shorter-lived beings.
Elven grief really has no parallels with Catholicism that I can see at all. While one can make the argument that death is the natural outcome for both Tolkien's Mortals and in Catholic belief, it is not the natural outcome for Elves, and "death" is an unnatural and certainly painful separation for them.
Finally, as for grief more generally, I think there are also two different things happening in how Primary World humans experience grief. I am not Christian and so cannot speak to Christian or specifically Catholic teachings around what is or is not appropriate in terms of grief, beyond what I can observe of the people around me in a culturally Christian country. But I wonder if "the Catholic belief that you should not grieve the dead because they're in a better place" is a different thing from grieving someone because you ... simply miss them. Even if you believe that you will be reunited in the afterlife with them at some point. But again, for Mortals in Tolkien's world, even this is confounded by the fact that there is no certainty of this; there are much larger questions for them than for faithful Christians around what happens when they die.

weekly tag wednesday ☁️
thanks for the tag @mmmichyyy!!! Been a while since I've actually done one of these but I'm always excited to see others tags <3
name: crest
age: late 20s
your time zone: actually currently it's mountain time but that's not typical.
what do you do for work? I'm an attorney.
do you have any pets? yes, I have one cat, he's adorable.
what first drew you to this fandom? admittedly I at first started seeing gifsets, and then I realized they were coming from a beloved mutual @go-catch-a-chickn and I was slowly becoming obsessed and wanted to know more about the show, talked to my sibling who has already seen Shameless too, and then when I finally made the plunge everyone was SO NICE and LOVELY! So while I'm back to being a bit on the fringes (of all things fandom lately, not just Shameless) I do still adore it.
are you a morning person or a night owl? quite genuinely I am both and neither. It really depends on how well I've slept, how much time to myself I feel I've had, or how busy I am.
what are your hobbies? writing, getting back into drawing, video games, hiking, I play an instrument in my community orchestra as well, as well as others.
how tall are you? 5'4ish?
if you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? I don't know actually -- some days I just want to go back to the midwest, other days I want to live in New York and experience that. I'm pretty happy where I'm at, though.
favorite color? green
favorite book? Oof, favorites are really hard. I don't know if I have a true favorite book, just recency bias lmao. I absolutely loved This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone. However, I will say, I actually reread The Southern Reach trilogy by Jeff Vandermere (particularly the first two books, Annihilation and Authority) fairly often. It is one of the most compelling stories I've read, and every time I reread it I catch a new clue as to what's going on and a new creepy detail.
favorite movie? Steel Magnolias. No other movie makes me laugh and cry as hard as that one does.
favorite fic? there's so many, I've read in so many different fandoms, too, this isn't really quantifiable. That being said, I probably reread Stag and Wolf, Wyvern and Rabbit by deadlifts (Fire Emblem Three Houses Claude/Felix fic) the most. I've also read Ready (Maze Runner Gally/Minho fic) by comebacknow a lot. They're both amazing, I greatly recommend.
favorite musical artist: glass animals and the japanese house. this is also subject to change all the time, but I adore these two for sure.
what is your average screen time so far this week? way too fucking high. I've been easily distracted recently.
what’s the first app you open in the morning? this will date me for sure -- probably snapchat. i've got streaks with friends spanning years, not about to let 'em die.
how long have you been on tumblr? not until around the pandemic area, think 2021? My vibe screams I was on tumblr when I was a preteen, but when I was a kid we only had one computer for the whole house and it was ancient -- which means I never got to use it and had actually never heard of tumblr until after it "died" the first time.
finally (and i know this one is hard) tell me a fun fact about yourself: no one ever expects it, but I'm actually a pretty good dancer, and I love to go salsa dancing.
no pressure tags: @go-catch-a-chickn, @michellemisfit, @jrooc, @callivich, and anyone else who wants to join!

The Blue Carbuncle pt 2
In the larger and older jewels every facet may stand for a bloody deed.
*coughBritishCrownJewelscough*
"It is, I think, much more likely that Henry Baker is an absolutely innocent man, who had no idea that the bird which he was carrying was of considerably more value than if it were made of solid gold."
I quite agree. I also hope that Mr Henry Baker gets some of the reward money if that is the case.
As I approached the house I saw a tall man in a Scotch bonnet with a coat which was buttoned up to his chin waiting outside in the bright semicircle which was thrown from the fanlight.
Oh no! He's had to replace his hat with a chilli!
...yeah, yeah. I'll see myself out.
It is a cold night, and I observe that your circulation is more adapted for summer than for winter.
Does that mean he's red in the face? Because... his capillaries work well? I'm trying to follow the logic here. I too go red in the face easily, but I most certainly am not well adapted for summer. Most of summer I hide in a darkened room and hiss at anyone who tries to make me go near sunlight. It burnsss uss precious. So I feel like a cursory examination of the subject might render a different conclusion.
"Is that your hat, Mr Baker?" "Yes, sir, that is undoubtedly my hat."
Case closed! We can all go home for tea. Huzzah. The hat is returned.
A touch of red in nose and cheeks, with a slight tremor of his extended hand, recalled Holmes's surmise as to his habits.
I don't know whether this is intended also as support for Holmes' comment about his circulation, as I theorised, or if it merely is a sign of alcoholism. Merely, I say. Henry, if you do get any reward, please don't spend it all on the booze.
He spoke in a slow staccato fashion, choosing his words with care, and gave the impression generally of a man of learning and letters who had had ill-usage at the hands of fortune.
I know that the conceit of the stories is that Holmes knows all these things and is proven right time and again, but I am struck by the question here on whether Watson has perception bias and assesses Henry Baker in this way because Holmes has already primed him to see those things.
I'm not saying they're false, and I know this is entirely pointless as it is a fictional work and therefore the question is moot. But how much of Watson's view of the man is entirely accurate and how much of it is what Holmes told him to see?
Of course, then we have the third layer of how much is what Watson adds on when writing his narrative from a future perspective and I honestly don't think ACD thought that hard about these stories, so I probably shouldn't either.
"Very naturally. By the way, about the bird, we were compelled to eat it." "To eat it!" Our visitor half rose from his chair in his excitement.
OK, well now I think he's involved in some way.
"Of course, we still have the feathers, legs, crop, and so on of your own bird, so if you wish—" The man burst into a hearty laugh. "They might be useful to me as relics of my adventure," said he, "but beyond that I can hardly see what use the disjecta membra of my late acquaintance are going to be to me.
OK, so that was a feint. Well played, ACD. Well played.
And there's the evidence of his learning and large brain, I suppose. 'disjecta membra'? Strangely enough in my Latin lessons we didn't cover those words. Apparently it's a direct translation of dismembered limbs.
What a peculiar phrase to randomly translate into Latin while talking. I suppose a lot of latin texts are war treatises and the like, so it's entirely possible he learnt it while reading, but such a specific phrase to translate. Is it supposed to soften the brutal nature of the phrase? If it's in Latin it can't possibly be unpleasant.
"I am somewhat of a fowl fancier, and I have seldom seen a better grown goose."
Once again the 21st century reading makes me giggle just a bit.
Tumblr media
The fanciest of geese!
This year our good host, Windigate by name, instituted a goose club, by which, on consideration of some few pence every week, we were each to receive a bird at Christmas.
Ah yes, I remember the goose club. So many geese. They will be avenged.
"Ah! yes, I see. But you see, sir, them's not our geese." "Indeed! Whose, then?"
THIS is the bit I remember best. The genuine, bona fide goose chase of it all. Your goose is in another castle, Mr Holmes.
"Remember, Watson that though we have so homely a thing as a goose at one end of this chain, we have at the other a man who will certainly get seven years' penal servitude unless we can establish his innocence. It is possible that our inquiry may but confirm his guilt but, in any case, we have a line of investigation which has been missed by the police, and which a singular chance has placed in our hands. Let us follow it out to the bitter end. Faces to the south, then, and quick march!"
I love this speech. Chasing a goose on the chance it might be proof of a man's innocence. It might not, but even a chance is enough to make this important.
Things are heating up on the goose hunt. Holmes and Watson charging across London in one direction and then another. I wonder if they'll be redirected again at the next place they visit.

Forgot to mention in my last Ask, but I also quite love Undyne.  She was great in both the flashbacks and the present.  Though, I also feel really bad for her.  Getting beat up by Paps when Undyne was being pushy about Sans.  Which, Undyne was just trying to look out for Paps (though, she also just has a bias against Sans.  Though, to be fair on her, Sans is…Sans), but the brothers will look out for each other.  And Undyne pushed herself too much about Sans for Paps.  Paps felt very guilty about it though (Sans came back to Undyne passed out on the floor and stuff.  Lol.  And then consoled Paps about it, ahaha).
Undyne then got tested on by Sans (though, it didn’t really work out, because of her DT).  I am sorry Undyne, u were pissing Sans off, and he isn’t as fond as u as he is say, Paps, Alphys, Toriel, Grillby, etc.  Him calling her a test subject, and Sans saying he sounded like “him”, was such a good way to show Sans’ Gaster ties, and his testing stuff (might some more about this in those potential/maybe reblogs and/or whatever I might do) and stuff like that in general, is a really good way to show Sans’ more scientific side/scientific BG.  I am also very fond of the flashbacks in Ep4 and Dust’s interrogation of Frisk in Ep4, because it really shows how much of a face/expression and mind reader Sans and/or Dust Sans can be.  And how generally cold, analytical, smart, sadistic, and messed up each can be.
And then in the Ep4 flashbacks, both her and Paps basically got their realities destroyed (and both became even more gung-ho about hunting humans.  Though, for both the same and different reasons).
So yeah, basically, I love Undyne and I feel very bad for her.  She has not been having a good time lately.
I got even more character stuff and/or etc. to say, but again, saving those for something I might do later, in some other way (probably).
Off more character specific stuff, I am now starting to understand why Ep3 was called Prejudgemet (like, it took me way too long to understand that it was probably called that because Ep3 is pre-judgement. I completely figured out though at the ending screen that counts down towards judgment. I should really look up Ep4's title meaning at some point though.).
I still like the beginning screen that some character art, disclaimer, inspirations, etc., and I am defin. liking the ending screens and how they keep changing, and sometimes the creepy laugher and creepy, but sometimes funny and pretty stuff on the ending screens, Like, Ep3 having the doodles and writings from Dust Sans I presume, with Ep4's (I think) ending screen having blue doodles and text over that, that I presume come from the other Sans. Lol, they are fighting, even in the ending screens.
These episodes somehow made me want a happy ending even more for both Sanses and Paps's and Frisk and Chara too. Though, Chara, the Sanses, and Phantom (Paps and Frisk have their issues too, my goodness) are very messed up. But Phantom kind of got better in Ep4 after coming to a realization about how much he had lost himself when talking to Paps.
The Sanses and Chara though, are yeah, hmmm, yeah. Like, Chara is at least trying to hep out the people of her universe, but they also want some entertainment. The Sanses though; well, I want them both to be happy, and to get better. But all the therapy in the world, might not help them. And I also know that probably isn't ikely (like Chara and Sans(s) and etc. have been alluding to. And like what Phantom said, one of the Sanses might die. And he and the others will welcome and take of Paps' Sans if it is, and he will finally be able to rest with his Sans if it is his. Though, the Devil might not let them be together for awhile. Pretty understandably), but a person can hope.
I know u said Ep5 probably wouldn't be as long as Ep4, but I wouldn't mind that (and I wouldn't mind waiting longer for a longer episode, like w/ Ep4), esp. with how Ep4 left off, and how great Ep3 and Ep4 have been. But I also totally understand if Ep5 isn't.
I got some other things to say (mainly praise, interesting stuff I want to talk and theorize about, and/or etc., but I wil save that for the probably reblog(s), comment(s), or something I am going to do (if not/if not for now, I am doing at least this).
Some small critiques here and there. Nothing major, but sometimes text would get cut off, where I couldn't completely read what was being said, and so I had to kind of guess. Usually, I could still understand what was being said, and the times that it did happen were still some of my favorite parts of the Episodes.
U have much improved at making text readable on darker BG's and stuff though. The only times I had trouble with this, were for some of Chara's dialogue. And one time during the Mettaton section, when we got a bunch of text from the crowd after Sans and Paps fell from above on the stage.
So basically, it didn't happen much at all.
Also, I think how quickly you move between text and/or dialogue, but I wouldn't mind it a bit slower myself sometimes. Though, honestly, this is basically fine/they move at a pretty good pace, and I could and do, just pause, if I need to more fully take in what is saying.
Anyways, I loved Ep3 and Ep4 very much!  U did great on them.  And I am very excited (but also have so much dread for the characters.  U can really feel like a clash and/or some probably even more very bad stuff is going to go down from the titles, the episodes themselves, the ending cards that are getting more chaotic and which keep countdown to something, and stuff) for the next episode(s) whenever that ends up being!
Also, besides Ep3 and I think Ep2 or Ep1, do you have the episode video thumbnail art and/or posts with the links of/to the episodes and/or clips of the videos on your blog?  I would love to reblog them, because 1.  They are awesome, and I want to help share Dead Ringer, 2.  Reblogging stuff like that was one way I thought of how I could talk more about Dead Ringer, that wasn't Asks, and 3.  I just really like the thumbnail art, so I want to be able to like and reblog them.
Alright done talking about Dead Ringer for now.  I got some more Ask(s), but they will probably be mostly, if not, completely not Dead Ringer related.
2/2.  (I still got more Asks probably.  But I am saying 2/2, instead of 2/?.  Because I actually think having this Ask being 2/2 makes sense, because of how separated these ones will be to the next one(s), probably.  If I do it/them.  These ones will be mainly Dead Ringer-related, the next one(s), probably won’t be).
Undyne has only good intentions but worst executions..she does not catch a break lmao
Huh? Gaster reference? IN MY DEADRINGER? wonder if we’ll get to meet him
the blue doodles are dust but he used a different marker since he already used the red one lol
long episodes can hurt me if im not careful when making them so i plan on only doing longer episodes for the ones with the most tension going on
the cut off text was the error, exporting the files severely damaged my tablet on the day the video uploaded, ill try to make sure i won’t come into another problem like that again ewewew
Ill redo Chara’s and Mettaton’s text! As well as slowing down the texts as well, I tend to be a fast reader and i forget no everyone is that fast sorry ooo, as for the crowd they are intentionally met to be unreadable hehe
Ill post the thumbnail arts when the series is finished, similar to how i will do the same to bonnytale/underhell/and inkubators for reasons
thank u for the asks anyways!!! i love them!!! thank u for talking about my stuff it means a lot to me again idc if i say this w every ask I MEAN IT!

I’m taking a semi-hiatus
(LINK TO THE MASTERPOST)
The last few days weren’t the best for me, and I understand I went way too far with my criticisms of Adrien. While I felt like I needed to make my points clear, I am fully aware that my own personal bias got in the way, and in a way, made me no better than Astruc himself. I just feel like I need a little break from all the negativity surrounding the stuff I talk about.
This isn’t the end, however. Something I’ve been thinking about these past few months is starting a different sideblog focused more on tokusatsu, something I’m just as passionate about, and a topic I can be more positive making posts on. My plan is to start that side blog and run it for a few weeks to maybe a month or two, and hopefully by then, I can be in a better state of mind to talk about Miraculous Ladybug again.
Of course, you might have a few questions floating through your head about the future.
"Can you specify what you've genuinely regretted saying in the drama?"
Mainly just how hard I’ve been on Adrien and his fans compared to Marinette, showing some double standards on my part.
"What will be covered on your new sideblog?"
Tokusatsu shows. I’m still working on the specifics of it, but my plan is to cover stuff like Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, and Ultraman.
"Will things beyond tokusatsu be covered there as well?"
Probably not. Maybe I’ll review a Precure season or two there, but tokusatsu is going to be the main subject there. It’s just something I’m a huge fan of.
"Will Miraculous Ladybug be mentioned there on occasion or do you wish to keep it out of the blog until further notice?"
I might make a passing reference to it here and there (the current Super Sentai season also has a black animal-themed hero who’s unintentionally kept out of the loop, so there’ll probably be jokes there), but I’m not going to make any serious criticisms or potshots against the show.
"Are you still going to follow new episodes of Miraculous Ladybug during the hiatus or will those be avoided as well?"
I’ll probably keep up with them to take notes on before I come back, but I won’t outright be avoiding them.
"Will your inbox still be open?"
It will. When I come back, I plan to go through any asks I get.
"Will this mean that the Season 4 rewrite will be delayed?"
Unfortunately, yes. I’m sorry to anyone who was looking forward to it, but I feel like this is for the best.
"Are you sure you'll be able come back to doing IOTA? When or if the hiatus ends, what do you think you'll do with both blogs?"
I’ll probably focus on longer-term projects for the sideblog, like reviewing longer shows compared to the episode-by-episode reviews I do for Miraculous Ladybug.
"Should we do something about this debate you've gone through? "Shouldn't we call out Adrien fans for this?"
Please don’t. This was clearly my fault for snapping, and I don’t want to blame anyone for this. I made this decision based on snapping at Adrien fans, and I don’t want anyone else to make the same mistakes I did.
Just to be clear, this isn’t goodbye, and I’m not running away. I just need a little time to clear my head so I can be better at covering this kind of content.

23:43 jae came
24:23 jaehyun getting his hyungs attention by teasing him
🍑: I liked your episode of i live alone... 🐰: It's not air yet JohnnY on the rescue - I watched your mv Yuta - that was great (Jaedo moment turned into doyoung teasing club)
Jae making sure again, 🍑: That vedeo abt how you take care of your vocal chord is aired tho! 🐰: The teaser!? ? ?
Doyoung realizing jae talking abt the 2 min teaser vedeo of the actual content..
mission change the subject Then mark nd hc cant get to see you with this short hair!!!!
Perfect jaedo coded moment....😅😅😅
Huh nim, I needed to search for the that small cut vedeos from yt, coz it wasn't coming to my timeline eventhoug my yt keypad is full of only doyoung in diff language 😅😅😅.... What I wants to say it, jae made an effort to watch that teaser vedeo, when they are the official strangers in nct127..... Like ofcrs jae can tease his members nd doyoung Is the teasing target of everyone.... Am not fighting that... But jae is busy as his own... Nd they can't watch TV that much as he is shooting his movie nd drama etc.... So it's the phone u use to watch .... ND U GO TO YT GET THIS 2 MIN VEDEO ND WATCHING IS SOMETHING I THINK NORMAL AS A JAEDO BELIEVER BUT ABNORMAL AS FOR ALL THOSE WHO JUST SEEN THEM AS A MEMBERS OF THE SAME GRP.....
Ok even if he watched it.....u don't have to remember u knw....he is in the middle of his lot personal things....but he have to say it the next momnt when they saw each other....to tease his hyung, gets his attention, see his reaction, makes him fluster nd to see that live....thats jaehyun..... No one can denies that....nd it's totally normal for a believer ....haha
Huhnim....i have missed it....that soft nd low voice jaehyun makes when talks to his hyung, nd the gentle tease, nerdy look nd the behavior of cute little younger brother!!!!! Omg......my bias dy nd I didnt knw I have missed jae this much.....seems like u really need to stop seeing someone to knw how you actually misses them is really true.....nd I guess am gonna start crying for taeyong sooner.....like this episode, was like....i could really felt the last moment, when he did the secret msg to everyone.....aaaah....huh nim......saying goodbye even for a short period of time is reay hard.... For the one who is saying and also to the one who is receiving.... Both have to go through the longings nd yearning until they come back...... Huh nim....... I guess, I will come here alot more!!!! Thnku...
Link
Eh, Jaehyun, Jaehyun, didn't even tap Taeyong on the shoulder in greeting, went right away to sit by the owner (happy he made it, and his spot was saved for him).
Jaehyun is awkward socially and a classic introvert. He showed Tae attention later with a warm verbal remark.
Jaehyun had been anticipating telling Doyoung he watched the teaser during his whole trip to the restaurant, lol. That smile.
Notice how Jungwoo is consumed with food. He doesn't really care for either Jae or Do.
I suppose Yuta came to the resque because Jaehyun does get to watch/hear things in advance.
24:34 - Watch Jae's left hand, there was intent to touch Do's leg (he didn't).
There was a cut between Johnny's words and Doyoung asking Tae about MarkHyuk (choprticks in Do's hand became a spoon). So it's unclear how much time passed. Probably a few minutes. Even so, yes, Do let the topic die, didn't respond to Jae's teasing.
24:48 - It's telling how Jae asked Do to clarify, not Tae (who made the comment) or others present.
24:54 - Do's hand, his habit of touching while talking.
OK, I will finish watching in June, need to save traffic.
I'll just comment that despite Jaehyun filming, JaeDo saw each other often in that period (middle of April). Do shown no signs of missing Jae, and Jae's need to tease came from a discussion in the recent past (of the programme, what Do will do there).
And yes, you are right, Bunny. Usually members are so busy themselves, they do not watch content with others. Let alone teasers, let alone on the day of release. This moment is a good telltale of JaeDo, how close they are, how Jaehyun needs to know everything, how there is ongoing joke about Do acting for the camera.
Nice to see Jaehyun was so content. He was pleases he made it in time, but is seems he enjoyed the work as well, he was shining.

This blog is dedicated to my WIP conlang, Plamanetan. (That name is temporary and will probably change throughout the project. I will update this post whenever I change it.) The main purpose of this blog is to get feedback via polls as I work on the project. Any detail about Plamanetan that I post on this blog is subject to change until I finalize the project.
If you are interested in the details of Plamanetan, I will go into detail below the cut. Thoughts and feedback are appreciated but not required :)
A couple notes:
I currently only have 23 words in the vocabulary and am just starting the process of applying new formation guidelines to them so they might all change. For that reason I am not including any specific vocab in this post.
The grammar is VERY loosely defined at the moment because I am still trying to nail down the best approach to it.
Goals & Inspiration
Plamanetan is intended to be an International Auxiliary Language. I started it because 1) I have wanted to make a conlang for a while now, and 2) While watching Conlang Critic I heard him say that he doesn't think an Auxlang can be good (or something to that effect) and I took that as a challenge.
Is that the best motivation? Probably not. But it has gotten me to stick to this project longer than I have stuck to any previous conlang project.
To be more specific about my goals here is a bulleted list of specific targets I have made for myself:
Keep the phonology simple and use sounds that are common across languages.
Avoid loaning words directly from existing languages (to keep cultural neutrality and to avoid bias toward any particular language or language family). (Exceptions may be made for things that are well known by a specific term, if that seems like the best thing to do in that scenario. Probably would only apply for very modern technology or concepts whose terms have been coined recently in a specific language and then adopted around the world.)
Make words sound representative of the thing they refer to by using things like Onomatopoeia and the Kiki/Bouba effect whenever possible (This is the most challenging goal so far)
Be minimalistic with the grammar that is required, but keep in easy workarounds to communicate information that would be lost by omitting a particular feature (For example, making adjectives for male and female for speakers who are used to denoting the sex of living things with grammatical gender.)
Use nouns as a base and derive all words of other types from them using suffixes. (To decrease the amount of vocabulary that has to be memorized without limiting what can be concisely expressed.)
I also intend to eventually create a corresponding sign language with the following goals:
Can be signed with a single hand (To make it more practical to use even if you are holding something.)
Be a 1-to-1 match of the spoken language (so that spoken and signed versions can be used simultaneously without much effort, and so that the signs can be a visual tool for deciphering spoken words you don't recognize.)
The only reason that I haven't started on the signed part yet is because I don't know exactly how to approach it, considering I do not speak any sign languages. I think it would benefit the project though, so I am keeping it in my goals list. I'll learn some ASL before I try to tackle that part.
Phonology & Orthography
So currently what I have is this:
Tumblr media
(Ignore the pink "a," that's just because it was added later.)
IPA symbol on the left, Latin alphabet in the brackets. I chose to use the Latin alphabet because it is the most common writing system and also because its the only one I can type.
I came to these sounds by:
Using a very messy not-really-criteria criteria to pick 15 source languages across various language families. (Lithuanian, Russian, English, German, Hindi, Bengali, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Swahili, Yoruba, Arabic, Hausa, Somali, Indonesian, Malay)
Going through the wikipedia page for each language's phonology and writing down all the sounds on the chart.
Making a list of all the sounds that showed up in at least 2/3 of those phonologies.
Picking sounds from that list while avoiding voicing distinctions and any sounds that seemed a little too similar too another sound.
As for punctuation, its pretty much just English. Period (.) to end a sentence, comma (,) to separate clauses, quotation marks ("") for quotes and dialogue, exclamation point (!) for exclamations, and a question mark (?) for questions (though I plan to add a question particle so that may be redundant). I'll edit later as I get a clearer structure for the grammar.
Phonotactics
I decided that syllables in Plamanetan will have a ccvc structure. The only restrictions on what can go where are in regards to consonant clusters in the onset.
I allowed for consonant clusters at the start of syllables to give myself a little more flexibility in word formation. I chose the permitted clusters based purely on what I personally think are relatively simple sound combinations because I cannot for the life of me find documentation on this topic for any of the source languages. Its pure guesswork which really isn't good for my goals but its the best I got. Anyway, here's my list of permitted consonant clusters:
Tumblr media
I originally had a list of diphthongs with this but decided to remove them so that I can write vowels next to each other without confusion. They weren't that necessary and I think its easier without them.
Also, not sure if it belongs in this category but Plamanetan words have an alternating stress pattern starting with the first syllable. so like Plamanetan.
Grammar
As I mentioned before, the grammar is the least developed part of this language so far. Or at least, its the part that feels most incomplete to me because I'm not very satisfied with it yet. And also my personal notes on it are very messy.
First thing I decided on was word order. I chose SVO as the primary word order because it was the most common among the source languages. Originally I wrote that the SVO order would be very strict, but I think the fact that different word types have different endings may allow for some flexibility. I also decided that words that modify a noun or verb should come after the thing they modify (like in Spanish) rather than before (like in English). I don't remember if I had a reason for that choice.
As stated in the goals, I have chosen to base the entire vocabulary on nouns. Every non-noun word must correspond to a noun of an equivalent or at least related concept. These words are formed by adding suffixes.
Tumblr media
I'll probably make some exceptions to this rule for conjunctions and adpositions unless I can come up with a creative way to implement them. Because I don't think that the "add suffix, now you're done" method works very well for these words. Maybe adpositions could be treated as adjectives? I'll figure it out later.
(You may also notice that this is very regular. No exceptions to grammar rules. This is on purpose because it makes the language easier and I have no intention of making this naturalistic.)
I decided to omit verb conjugations and instead have time information be communicated by adding words like "yesterday," "tomorrow," and "5 minutes ago." If time is necessary it can be added to the sentence. My logic here is that its easier to not require a grammatical distinction by making the information optional than it is for someone whose language doesn't have this grammatical distinction to be required to learn it. But if I find a good reason why it would be easier or more intuitive to add tense then I will do so.
^Same concept applies to other grammatical features such as gender, plurality, possession, mood, and evidentiality. Its easier not to require speakers to figure it out if their language doesn't have it. My only concern is that this will over inflate the sentence size and make it hard to follow what is being said. If you're interested enough to have read this far, I would love to hear your thoughts on this because I am truly torn on whether or not this is a good idea.
Word formation
And finally, the most recent thing I have added is a rough outline of how I intend to make words sound like what they mean. I may make edits to this process in the future but for now this is the system I am running my vocabulary decisions through. Most of this is based on what I intuitively think sounds best for these concepts so it may be English-speaker biased. But there's not really a lot of actual information out there on this topic for me to pull from so this is the best I've got.
Tumblr media
As you may be able to tell if you squint, this is the part that I tried to derive from the Kiki/Bouba phenomenon. I'm not sure if I fully understand how it works (I mean, no one fully does. But as far as whats known I am unsure,) and I also made up some of my own things. But hopefully this system has the desired effect. I'll test with polls as I go to see if people can accurately guess what a word is supposed to mean based on its sound.
----------
If you read this far, thank you! I'm glad someone found this interesting! If you have any thoughts, questions, or suggestions I would love to hear them.
I hope you stick around!

I am on a bus for 90 more minutes and have nothing better to do so I’m just gonna put expanded thoughts under the cut. Read as much or as little as you care to. I haven’t played a lot of these since I was like 12 or 13 so take this with a grain of salt.
S Tier
Majora’s Mask is the pinnacle of what the original Zelda formula can do and one of my favorite games of all time on simply a conceptual level. From the 3 day time loop to the masks to the focus on side quests that actually have interesting stories (something the series struggles with), it comes together in a way no other game in this series does for me. I think it’s got the only story in the series to genuinely emotionally impact me when I first played it, which granted I was also 12 then and haven’t read through the script in a long time but I still think that says something. I know the game’s not for everybody but it’s my favorite in this series and one of my favorite games period.
Oracle of Ages takes the best part of Zelda dungeons and makes a whole game out of it. It’s basically a puzzle game with a Zelda skin, and they take that concept to its limits. Probably has the most fun overworld to traverse of any game in the series (at least of the 2D games) and easily the best 2D dungeons. Other than TOTK this is the game I’ve played most recently so there’s some recency bias here too but in terms of pure 2D Zelda gameplay it really doesn’t get better than this.
Twilight Princess was the first game in this series I beat and easily my favorite iteration of the Link to the Past/Ocarina of Time game flow. Love the atmosphere, love the dungeons, Midna is great… it really is basically Ocarina of Time 2.0 so I get why it’s not everybody’s thing but I personally think it’s basically Ocarina If It Were Good. Lmao!
Tears of the Kingdom is very new and I haven’t beaten it, so this is very subject to change. But as of now it takes the winning formula of Breath of the Wild and puts in actually interesting non-exploration based gameplay mechanics, so I don’t think it’s going to lose its luster as much once I finish the game. Either way I’m absolutely addicted to the game, it’s extremely hard to put down which is a huge plus since it’s harder than ever for me to focus on playing and beating video games nowadays lol.
A Tier
Minish Cap is just very charming. I love being able to turn small and what that does for world traversal, the game is gorgeous and easily the best looking 2D game in the series, and it’s just easy to pick up and play. Has a lot of small issues that keep it out of S tier (sometimes progression is too vague, the world is pretty small, dungeons really aren’t great outside of the Palace of Winds) but still. Very cute game, I like it a lot.
Breath of the Wild has incredible exploration based gameplay and basically nothing else. Honestly for the longest time I would’ve had it in S tier since the exploration was truly that good, but sadly Tears of the Kingdom exists now and effectively outclasses this game in every way. Still love this game though, and it’s legacy is actually kind of astounding.
A Link To The Past is shockingly great. It’s a little jank to play nowadays but still, they got a lot right considering it was more or less the game that standardized almost everything about the series (until Breath of the Wild at least). Just a fun, fast paced experience that feels like Zelda purified down to its bare essentials, and I mean that in the best way possible.
B Tier
Skyward Sword feels like a 3D Oracle of Ages in that the majority of it feels like dungeon content, which is also its strongest aspect. It has major pacing issues which kind of cripple it (also because a lot of the content in the sky is basically worthless), but when it’s at its best it’s honestly fantastic. I’d probably say this game has the overall best 3D dungeons in the series? Yeah that sounds about right.
Oracle of Seasons is the action/combat based counterpart to Oracle of Ages, and I’d say it’s executed about the same in terms of what they’re going for, it just means the game doesn’t stand out nearly to the degree that Ages does. Still a fun game, and has some great moments, but it’s hard not to compare it to its counterpart which I think is significantly better.
A Link Between Worlds is a solid reimagining of A Link To The Past that felt like they were testing the waters for bringing Zelda back in a truly open direction, and it mostly succeeds for me, but something about it just doesn’t work as much for me the way ALttP does. I think it’s a combination of the art style not being my favorite + the dungeons feeling more quantity over quality? It’s hard to say. Still a solid game though!
Link’s Awakening is the Gameboy Zelda that is the most interesting in terms of its setting and writing and least interesting to actually play. It’s not even a problem with it’s age because I had the same feeling even playing the remake where I just wished I was playing one of the Oracle games instead. I do get why this is a lot of people’s favorite! And it is pretty fun for what it is. But it’s not necessarily for me.
Four Swords is a game I have almost no memory of, other than I played it with my sister years ago and we had a good time. I couldn’t tell you a damn thing about it’s design or what it did right or wrong, just that it was short, sweet, and I enjoyed the time I spent with my sister. Which, you know what, I think that’s a win for the game.
Triforce Heroes is also good fun multiplayer content, and I remember having a lot of good times with it as well. I think it’s hurt by being in the Link Between Worlds style and also because you’re forced to play with three players, which is very hard to do nowadays. Also the single player sucks, I honestly think it was barely even worth adding in. But the memories I have playing this game with friends when it was new are very sweet, also there’s a lot of fun LP content of this game on Youtube I greatly enjoyed.
C Tier
Ocarina of Time is the most important game in the series and one of the most beloved games of all time. But man it is a chore to play in 2023. It’s very slow, basically none of the first half of the game is fun, and many games that came after did essentially the same thing but better. But hey, the adult dungeons are generally pretty good, and it gets major props from me for influence.
Wind Waker is extremely fun once you get the swift sail and the entire sea opens up to you. Until you get to that point it honestly kind of sucks. The dungeons in this game are probably as bad as it gets (minus the Earth and Wind Temples which are both great), and you’re so railroaded at first that even it’s greatest claim to fame doesn’t even get to shine until hours and hours into the experience. For what it’s worth though, it does get a lot better later on. It only takes like, ten shitty hours of a 20 hour game to get to that point.
Phantom Hourglass is another game I have almost no memory of, I just remember it was probably the game in the series lacking the most flavor. It gets points for novelty with the touch screen and isn’t awful to play, but it really doesn’t have a lot of high points (plus the Temple of the Ocean King is very very bad). It’s basically the Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon of the Zelda series, it’s on the DS and everything.
D Tier
The Legend of Zelda (OG) kickstarted the series and was quite ambitious for the time. Unfortunately it is an NES game. And playing it feels like eating bricks. I don’t actually think I beat the game as a kid, just got to like the second to last dungeon? Either way I feel no need to go back to it. It serves its purpose in history but I would rather play every other game in the series instead of it.
I haven’t played the rest (at least not substantially), but I do plan to play Four Swords Adventure soon since Dolphin now works in tandem with MGBA which means I can actually play this multiplayer now. I don’t know if I’ll ever play Spirit Tracks cuz it’s a gimmicky DS game that I can’t imagine would work emulated, and I’m not shelling out hundreds of dollars for a Phantom Hourglass sequel. I’ve played some of Zelda 2 at some point but not nearly enough to have a solid opinion on it. Game looks cool though! Maybe I’ll play more of it one day.

Enjoying heavy songs - Amygdala
Tumblr media
Trigger warnings: I don't mention anything explicit, just vaguely mental health struggles. Of course tread carefully around the MV.
I have recently gotten into reaction videos and as a Yoongi/SUGA/AgustD bias, of course I watch reaction videos of his songs, love to see people fall in love with his music, love to see them be blown away by the raw authenticity of his lyrics, by the emotions he shows.
But it has also brought to the surface reactions to a song that is my favourite of the whole D-Day album. (And they are all my favourite. The moment I say this, I wanna add a "but", unable to really choose, but that is a topic for a different day.) To be honest watching reaction videos of this song is a bit hit and miss. Most are not worth watching but there was one thought voiced that bothered me and I want to address it in this post.
Amygdala is the song that makes me wanna cry every time I listen, it's a song that I know all the lyrics to and I really can't claim to speak any Korean. It's the song that enables me to sing, yell, shout along to and feel oh so much. It is not a secret, that Yoongi's songs resonate with a lot of people who struggle with things in their lives, be it mental health topics, friends or family issues. His fans relate to him and his music because he gives our struggles a voice.
I am one of them. And although there are a lot of issues I struggle with that I might not be able to address and deal with (yet), his music means so much to me. It enables me to feel all those emotions, to get a release for all the anger, sadness and pain I feel without it needing to be about me. I can feel angry, sad and hurt over his story and still have a cathartic experience, feel relieved about my own issues afterwards.
It's not the only thing Yoongi's music does. He also gives us hope. He shares his journey with us with all its ups and downs, tells us that he has our back, that we can let go, that he's there for us. And he lets us know that he's okay too. That he is better and gives us hope that we can be better too.
I understand that the song deals with a lot of heavy topics. That the MV for Amygdala specifically shows things that are triggering for people and I respect and support people's decision to not watch and/or listen for those reasons. But, and I hope that the people I have heard voice this opinion are the exception, because some have said, that because of the topics of the song that this song and this MV are not something we should enjoy. And I reject this notion with all my heart.
I love this song. I love turning it up loud, dancing and singing along with it. And that's okay. I don't believe that Yoongi made this song, so we only listen once, make a sad face and move on. I don't believe that he made this song, so we say, yes he indeed had a difficult life, pity him and move on.
I am sure he knew that this is not the sort of subject matter that would top the charts. So it leaves the question, why did he do it? It's clear that making music is a way for him to process his own experiences and emotions. His music has always been like that. But I don't think it's far fetched to say that he probably knows that he is helping other people too. I like to think that he has seen at least some of the things people have written about his music, about how it makes people feel seen, how his songs and him talking about these topics makes space for them in the public discourse, makes people feel validated in their struggles. So I like to believe he made this song not just for himself, but also hoping it would help others. And with that in mind, I think it's wrong to insinuate that this song should not be enjoyed, CANNOT be enjoyed. I reject the idea that it should be a song, we can only listen to in silence with a solemn face. Of course his story should be treated with respect. Of course there are settings and ways this song could be consumed that might be inappropriate. But there is a difference between enjoying it and disrespecting it's subject matter.
I can enjoy this song because I feel seen. I can enjoy it, because I know he is better now. I can enjoy it for the emotional release I experience when listening to it. I an enjoy it for the skill that went into creating it. There are so many ways to enjoy this song that don't equal disrespect.
So if there is anyone out there who feels like they shouldn't be allowed to enjoy this song, this is for you. Please turn it up loud and sing along and dance to it and let it make you feel all the emotions. Let us enjoy the music, the beautiful lyrics, let us appreciate the skill with which he made this song.
It is okay to enjoy this song. It is okay to enjoy the MV. Both are brilliant. So much work and skill and dedication went into them. It is okay to feel joy while listening, because he's a brilliant artist, making something so beautiful from so much pain.
There is a delicate balance between wanting people to know this song, wanting people who struggle feel seen, create a platform for mental health topics and feeling like capitalising on pain in a society that is so obsessed with consumption. Maybe I am in a bubble, but I respect the fandom for how mindful they have been in creating content around this song and for the lack of content that uses imagery from the MV specifically in inappropriate ways.
But this should not mean, we should not "consume" the song and the MV. The worst we could do to this song is push it aside because "it's too heavy" or too delicate of a topic to talk about.
Let us enjoy the story he tells, the pain he sings about, the cry for help this song so clearly is. Let us enjoy it and feel it. Because despite his struggles, he is still here. And because even if we struggle, we are still here. Let this song be the voice that says, I struggle too and it's okay. Let us listen to it and remind ourselves. Let us talk about it and support each other. Because we are still here and we are not alone.

This is kind of an odd question, but since you seem to have done it very successfully and I have no clue: How do you make friends online?
I always see people on here talking about their mutuals and about their online friends, and some of that’s def survivorship bias, but I’m guessing I’m not alone in having no clue how to get from recognizing someone’s username to having them be a person I would talk to about a bad day?
Anyway, this continues to be a weird ask so answer it any way you want and no worries if it takes a while, but yeah, with all the posts about you and haven meeting up I am just looking for advice on *how*
Ty so much!
hi hi hi hello!! i’ve actually gotten asks like this before and i’m so sorry 2 everyone who’s sent one bc i’m afraid i don’t have a super concise or helpful way to answer this,,, (but i’ll still try lol)
to be so so honest with you, i got super lucky because i was introduced to a lot of my friends in this fandom through group chats or mutuals’ discord servers that other people have added me to, which i know is kind of a lame answer because being added to gcs/others’ servers is not exactly something u can control … but you are so right in saying that you’re not alone in feeling like this !! i know so many people feel intimidated by the idea of making friends on here especially since there Are so many users i associate as groups and it seems like everyone has Those Friends (me included, i’ll admit) and it’s probably easier said than done because i did get lucky enough to meet a lot of my now-close friends rn through ao3/comments/writers’ gcs way back in the summer or fall 😗 it also definitely takes time to get close to someone in this way, and these friendships are not something that happened overnight, even for me !! i feel like it’s easy to get stressed out by the potential of every new mutual/friend you make being The Friend and that can put a lot of pressure on both you and the other person to be super compatible right off the bat, so on and so forth, which isn’t fair and will probably lead to more disappointment than anything, so i think it’s important to remember that (almost?) no solid friendship goes from 0-100 overnight and it takes time to build trust and emotional connection with anyone!
so i would say . basically . if you’ve stayed this long and all of this rambling that my biggest pieces of advice would be:
1. fr and honestly just go for it. like you said, i know so many people feel the exact same way as you do, so send that mutual you admire an ask or a dm!! every friendship has got to start somewhere so if you see them rb an ask game maybe send something nice or maybe if you see a post that reminds u of them send it to them ! i’ve made a couple of my closest friends because we sent each other asks a lot before moving to dms -> other platforms, or people have just dm’d me directly out of the blue and i was surprised by how well we clicked !! these are maybe lame examples but. u get the idea lol. Just Do It i believe in u 🥳
2. be patient !! i know i already said it before but close friendships, like the ones you’re talking about, rarely happen overnight. even with people i’ve felt a connection with immediately, it’s taken some time for us to really get comfortable with each other and past that awkward stage so it’ll likely take some dedication and commitment to communication on both your parts! something i would like to emphasize: don’t make friends purely out of strong expectations of being Best Friends because, again, this could lead to a lot of disappointment when someone doesn’t live up to expectations you’ve created In Your Head. find people you really click with and genuinely enjoy talking to, and maybe see eventually if they’d want to move from talking through asks to dms to discord/text!
ummmm. i think that’s all i have to say on the topic, hopefully this wasn’t too disappointing to read because again, i’m not too sure how to organize my thoughts on the subject LOL but i’m wishing you all the best and i’m promising u that almost everyone in this community feels the same way !! make the first move/respond when someone maybe makes the first move to you + take it slow + be kind and patient and you will have friends lining up in ur dms to talk to u 🫡much much love !! 🫶🏽

alright that’s h’aanit’s chapter 2 done! it’s opinions time
keeping in mind that this is very much subject to change as I progress further in the game
primrose - HI PRIMROSE AZELHART I LOVE YOU PRIMROSE AZELHART.. her chapters make me uncomfy sometimes but she makes up for it by being SUCH a good character with such a good story and have I every told you just how much I love women? so yeah. primrose, the EVER
ophilia - starter bias, but also I’ve warmed up to her as a character so much… the story itself hasn’t given her too much time to be that interesting, but in my head, based on her history, she has SO much potential and I dunno I just like her, she’s nice.. also her banters with prim…… you already know how much I like them by now though I feel ehe
cyrus - blood cults? already? alright you have my attention. the CONSTANT joking about how he’s oblivious to women is kinda annoying, like sure once or twice whatever it can be funny, but they joke about it so much… after persona 5 though I’m surprisingly tolerant of this stuff (somehow), and am enjoying the horrific nature of the story itself so far
olberic - PLEASE don’t perpetuate the cycle of revenge you have so much potential and I wanna see an interesting dynamic with erhardt not just a vengeance plot.. regardless of what happens, I’m enjoying his story so far, and have high hopes.. also, cecily <33
therion - sorry to put your favorite guy so low here bestie, but so far his story is a liiiittle flat for my tastes. I have high hopes for it, and there’s some intrigue there, but for now, it’s. pretty simple
alfyn - it’s the whimsy, he reminds me of castti but much less violent and much more whimsy, also the SAXOPHONE HELLO.. so far, it’s pretty simple, but it’s a nice, relaxing simple
tressa - I love her and her chapter 2 had me grinning from ear to ear, but she suffers from the same problem partitio’s story suffered from for me, I’m just not as engaged in it as I am for other characters’ stories so far
h’aanit - I have nothing against h’aanit, and her story is very interesting so far, but the dialogue falls so flat for me… most of it isn’t even dialogue, it’s just h’aanit monologuing to linde or hägen… which is fine, but the best moments for her, at least for me so far, are the ones where she has a back and forth with another character- I dunno that’s probably just my opinion, or maybe me playing her chapter 2 a bit tired is doing her a disservice…. but the intrigue is still there I swear!
aaaand there you have it, mayhaps I’ll do this again once I finish the chapter 3s. we’ll see
calc I would LOVE to see you do this again for the chapter 3’s this is delightful
PRIMROSE AND OPHILIA IN THE TOPS SPOTS!!! AS THEY DESERVE!!!! love it when ladies
and hoooooooo BOY im very excited to see you watch how. a few certain characters story plays out. not sayin who tho ;]
also you’re forgiven for putting theri in fifth place, dw! ill expect updates for when you go though his third chapter because… nay, I shan’t say

Love debaser, love that you’re a psych major. I am also so that’s awesome. I feel like tbh that’s probably why you’re good at characterization as well. I was wondering how you can tell in general if someone is autistic vs bpd? You’ve talked about Billy’s psych before, and I am just wondering if you can talk about it generally too.
Thanks so much! Essay incoming:
So I would say take all of this with a grain of salt, I'm not a clinician- I work with clinicians but this isn't my specialty and personality disorders should really be diagnosed by specialists.
But generally the best evidence we have about the development of BPD is genetic vulnerability (Things like emotional sensitivity and impulsivity can have a strong genetic component) in combination with an invalidating or unsupportive social environment. What counts as a trauma for someone depends heavily on what their level of sensitivity is, and also what resources they have to deal with it, so the idea is that bpd is essentially something that develops when someones emotions and needs are invalidated consistently from a young age.
It becomes hard to trust other people and also your own feelings, and you may learn that you have to do things like lying to get the help an support that you need, or that your emotions are so large and you have so little support for them that the only way to cope is to harm yourself. All this is to say that bpd, trauma, and invalidation are closely tied together.
Now moving on to the connection with autism, because theres a not insignificant number of autistic people who are also diagnosed with bpd. This may be a slightly sweeping statement, but at least for myself, being an autistic child was inherently traumatizing. I was constantly subjected to sensory hell in school, around other kids, and particularly at meal times, and my meltdowns were perceived as intentional tantrums. On top of this I would lose the ability to speak sometimes and this was also taken as an intentional behaviour.
Because there are so many things neurotypical people don't even notice that are traumatic to autistic folk (like fluorescent lights or an unexpected change of plans) we are constantly invalidated, especially when we are young. Basically here I'm just trying to explain why the overlap exists.
No on to differentiating the two, this is a useful diagram:
Tumblr media
The real answer here is that we're still really trying to figure out exactly how these two disorders interact and how to differentiate them and in my opinion theres a lot of terrible research in personality disorders, and a lot of unqualified people giving out diagnosis (don't trust your family doctor to diagnose you with a mental disorder, they at most got like a month training and psychologists, psychiatrists and counsellors study this stuff for for 6-8 years).
There is also some evidence that autistic people who were assigned female at birth are more likely to be diagnosed with bpd than people who were assigned male at birth who have the same symptoms, so there might be a gender bias in the way that diagnosticians perceive people too.
There are some bigger differences to look at though, so things like sensory symptoms (sensitivities but also stimming), special interests, neurodivergent body language, literal interpretation and introversion are more common for autistics. In contrast, people with only bpd are more likely to have a history of childhood abuse or neglect, heightened sensitivity to perceived social threat (which some autistic folk may be oblivious to), drastic emotional up and down, and personality instability, where they frequently change values, hobbies, opinions, friendships, ect. (while in contrast most autistic people are pretty consistent on those things.)
One of the most important things is to figure out why behaviours are happening- for example, self harm and substance abuse are common for both groups, but for autistics these behaviours are often a way to compensate for sensory overload and anxiety, while for people with bpd they are a way to deal with feelings of emptiness or overwhelming emotion.
Another example would be difficulty in relationships- for autistic people this often comes from an inability to spontaneously produce neurotypical social behaviours, so a lot of us miss cues or copy and paste behaviours to try and blend. In contrast many people with BPD have an unstable sense of self, so their social behaviours can seem "disorganized" from the outside, and they may miss read situations because they constantly looking for threats so they can try and protect themselves.
Personal history is also important- if someone has a deep distrust of people because they were neglected as a child, this may point to bpd, but if they have a distrust of people because the weren't able to read their peers and got severely bullied for special interests in elementary school, then this may point to autism.
And again, some people do have both! But it's honestly really difficult to differentiate them without seeing a diagnostician over a long period of time. Its super important though, effective treatment for an autistic person is different than effective treatment for people with bpd, and for people with both its different as well.
I hope this is somewhat clear! I don't want to simplify any of this because it actually is really complex and I just want to be honest about that.
