Was playing Stardew Valley last night, extremely high, and realized I wanted to install some mods. I'm not new to modding games but I'd never gotten into modding SV so I went to install SMAPI, and holy shit y'all.

The love and care that was put into designing this piece of sortware. You run it and it pops up a command prompt and *it has instructions for how to use a command prompt built in.*

This is the single friendliest piece of software I've ever encountered. There's a meticulous wiki page with screenshots of exactly what everything looks like, where to click, what to type, everything.

It's designed so literally anybody can do it.

And it's designed to not be scary to somebody who doesn't understand computers very well but wants to download mods for this cute little farming game. Deadass had me crying of the amount of compassion and *care* that a whole community put in to make it so accessible, for free.

Y’all should try Satisfactory. It’s a factory building survival-adjacent game that’s basically this. As a huge Stardew fan it’s scratching a very similar itch; all it’s missing is a story really.

All I want is for someone to make stardew valley but for other careers that aren’t farming. Astronaut game where you have to maintain your space ship and complete bundles by finding minerals in the soil and fighting off aliens. Pirate game where you have to do quests to earn money for larger and larger ships. Wizards game where you have to forage materials to make potions and acquire pages of a spell book. More cozy games please

all signs right now are pointing to taylor swift’s reign as queen of the universe coming to an end and honestly? i think it might be for the best. discourse around her has been slowly but surely deteriorating in value since 2020 and once she’s back to being insulated among more or less just the people that care i think it’ll be so much more enjoyable for all of us.

the way that gay men and straight women seem to have a totally different experience with the stardew valley bachelors… like i’ve never met a gay man that likes elliot, but the straight girls seem to love him. likewise we all seem to love alex but i really don’t see a lot of women period who like alex (understandable i suppose).

i think we can all come together and agree sebastian is peak though.

what are the best written sambastian fanworks

it’s been a minute since i delved into the sambastian ao3 but by FAR my favorite one was “Contrast & Color” by Mouse_213. it’s a college au where sam and seb are art students, and they end up in the same dorm as each other and shit starts going down from there.

it very much hit home for me as somebody currently in college in the arts (i’m in music but eh close enough), and it dealt with a lot of delicate topics really well. definitely my favorite sambastian fan work and honestly if it were a book it’d be one of my favorite books.

i’ve probably posted something like this before but idc. the persona fanbase narrative that the investigation team has the best group dynamic of the persona games makes me think that every persona fan either has no friends, or has really shitty friends. almost every character at some point does something that goes far beyond the line of “friendly banter” and into the straight up insane.

at least in persona 5, as underdeveloped as some of those relationships are, the characters don’t treat each other like shit and try to pass it off as them just being close friends. and i’ll say it, persona 3’s cast is what people say persona 4’s cast is. by the end of that game, i feel so convinced that the characters in that game have unbreakable bonds with each other. it doesn’t feel forced like persona 4, it just works.
