Memories from the Past
One of my most vivid memories takes me back to my 4th grade, where my diary begins. It was during that time when the Islamic revolution began. For a whole five months, school was out of the question. Eventually, we returned for four months and had to take some tests.
By the time 5th grade started, the revolution had already taken place, and the fighting and wars had ceased. Our family had moved from our old house to Karimkhan Zand street, Iranshahr Street, Taghavi Ally—a wealthier part of the city. We felt like we didn't quite belong there. On the second floor of our building, a Korean family had rented a place and made it their home. The Dad worked at their embassy and the Mom used to be a stripper at a strip club that shut down after the revolution. The third floor was occupied by an art gallery, and the fourth floor housed an insurance agency.
It was during that time that we became friends with the Korean twin boys, Cho Chon Wa and Cho Chan Ya. We spent the entire summer playing with them until school started.
In that remarkable year, I was enrolled in a school called Orkideh, also known as "The Orchid." It was located on Saadi Street, close to my dad's office. Although it was quite far from where we lived, it made things easier for my dad to take us there.
On the very first day of school, I walked in with my hair styled in two neatly braided pigtails. It was a signature look that I shared with my younger sister, Liz, who was in the 2nd grade. Despite our physical differences—her fair complexion and auburn hair contrasting with my own features—we were often mistaken for twins. And without hesitation, we would always play along and proudly proclaim ourselves as such. Together, we strolled through the schoolyard during lunch breaks, feeling estranged because we had no other friends. It was hard to feel like we belonged because it was my last year of elementary school, and it seemed very temporary to put any effort into making it feel familiar.
The school felt a bit unfamiliar that year, and we kept to ourselves. Liz seemed to be struggling, perhaps due to stress. Almost every day, the teacher would call me over and make me stand in front of everyone in class. It was like being put on the spot, and it made me feel really uncomfortable. She told me that my sister Liz wasn't finishing her homework, and somehow I had to take the blame for it too. It didn't seem fair at all.
Once, I got so frustrated that I blurted out that Liz was always playing outside instead of doing her homework. I instantly regretted saying it because it wasn't nice of me. Liz started giggling, which made the teacher even angrier.
Liz's teacher was really mad and said she might kick her out of school. Liz started crying, and I was begging the teacher to change her mind. The teacher's voice got louder and louder until she was yelling. It was scary.
Then, my nice teacher, Mrs. Khoshhal, came over to see what was happening. She asked Mrs. Goodarzi, Liz's teacher, what was going on. Mrs. Goodarzi explained everything to her. Mrs. Khoshhal kindly pleaded with her to forgive Liz this time. At first, Mrs. Goodarzi didn't want to change her mind, but finally, she agreed and told Liz that this had to be the last time.
During lunch break, Liz kept begging me not to tell Mom about what happened. I promised her that I wouldn't. I reassured her that I would keep her secret. But things didn't really change much. Liz still didn't study, and I kept getting blamed for her mistakes.
Sometimes, the teacher would use a ruler to hit Liz, and that was just plain mean. I could tell that it made Liz feel really bad, even though she never showed it. She was too proud and stubborn to let anyone see how much it hurt her. It made me sad to see her going through that.
Liz had a special doll that used to cry when we hit it. It was a gift from Mom because Liz did well in first grade. But later, Grandma washed the doll, and it broke. It never cried again. Liz offered me the broken doll in exchange for me doing her homework, and I agreed to help her.
Towards the end of the school year, Liz started studying really hard, and she became an honor student. She did even better than me, despite all the trouble we went through. I was so proud of her.
My take today:
This is a long entry, so I will interrupt here. Even though Liz had her ups and downs, she never gave up. Somehow, very quietly, without anyone noticing, she worked on improving. She proved that she could do great things when she put her mind to it. And I learned that helping someone you love, like my sister, can make a big difference. We both grew from this experience, and it made our bond even stronger. Also, what the heck was up with the teachers those days?! The hitting and embarrassing, and pulling me in to solve their problems. None of it makes sense.
After school, we walked to my dad's office together. Sometimes, along the way, we would stop at a small convenience store to grab some fruit rolls or dried plums. Occasionally, we would pass by a bookstore where I would browse through intriguing greeting cards and postcards. On occasion we would invite other friends to join us. My dad would sometimes give us a little money, and whenever I had some, I would spend it on the cards that I found most beautiful or interesting. Most of them happened to be anime-themed, which I found particularly captivating.
At the office, my dad was always busy with his work. He would lead us to a separate room where we could do our homework until he finished. Sometimes, he would treat us to the most delicious sandwiches. While working on my assignments, I would often find myself drawing pictures. My favorite subjects were stunning women in exquisite dresses. My dad would proudly show off my artwork to his coworkers and boast about my talent.
Back in those days, there wasn't a single image of The Bab, the center figure of the Baha'i Faith, floating around. No one had a clue what he actually looked like. One fine day, I stumbled upon a book at the bookstore called "Fetneh Bab," which translates to "The Sedition of The Bab." And guess what was on the cover? A picture of The Bab himself!
I couldn't contain my excitement, so I rushed to the office to spill the beans to my dad. Of course, he was all like, "Nah, you must be mistaken dear" But deep down, I could tell he was curious. At the end of the day, he finally caved in and asked me to show him where I had spotted the book.
So, off we went on a little adventure with him holding my hand. We walked all the way to the bookstore, and I pointed excitedly at the book, sitting proudly on the shelf. Dad stood there, frozen, staring at it for what felt like an eternity. I could see that he was captivated by the image. Without hesitation, he grabbed the book and purchased it right then and there. But here's the thing—he asked me to keep it our little secret. Turns out, we weren't supposed to buy any publications that were created to go against our faith.
It was like our own special discovery, a secret we cherished between us. That book, with The Bab's picture on the cover, became a prized possession, known only to a select few. It was a magical moment, a glimpse of history that I would always treasure in my heart.
I really, really loved the apartment we lived in. It felt more like a big house! Sometimes, Mom and us four girls would walk to this Kentucky Fried Chicken place nearby. It was a treat because we didn't have one in our old neighborhood. Mom never ordered anything for herself, though. I guess it was too expensive for her. We usually got fries and squeezed some lemon juice on them. Yum!
My take today: I can't wipe off the image of my mom sitting across from me at KFC, watching us eat. Her sacrifice depresses me today. :(
But there was something kinda creepy about the place. See, right across from our apartment, there was this old building that nobody used anymore. Its windows were all dark and broken, and there was ivy growing all over the outside walls. We could hear strange sounds coming from there, like kids playing and sometimes even crying. It gave me the shivers!
One day, my friend Babak from our old neighborhood came to visit. He was my age, 10 years old and his parents were friends with my family for a long time. Babak was such a nice and funny kid. He would play with a ball and do silly things like throwing himself on the ground and making faces just to make us laugh.
But then, a few weeks later, something really terrible happened. Babak, his brother, and his mom were going to Ghamsar, the village my mom and his parents grew up in, to see his dad. They told us that Babak's parents were having a fight and had separated for a little while. They wanted to go to Ghamsar to try and fix things. But on their way, a big truck had a flat tire while it was going really fast. The truck lost control and crashed into their car. It was so, so tragic. They said that Babak's mom grabbed him and tried to run out of the car, but the truck ran over the car and then over them. I can't even imagine how awful it must have been. There was blood everywhere, and they found Babak's body all crushed up with his mom's. We were all devastated and sad for days.
The apartment building belonged to Mr. Monfared, who was my dad's boss. The art gallery on top of the Korean neighbors belonged to Mr. Monfared's daughter, Zhinous. But we never saw anyone going up there, and we never saw Zhinous herself. It was a really peaceful place, filled with beautiful paintings. One painting of a ballerina stood out to me, and I still remember it clearly.
Oh, and there was also an insurance office above our unit, but it was never open or used. Nobody went there to work or anything. Another thing about the apartment was that it had cockroaches. My mom didn’t like it there that much. She said even though it was bigger than the house we sold, the windows were little and it was too dark.
Those were some strange and sad times in that apartment. But it had its own kind of magic too. It was very temporary anyways for us to get back on our feet.
Still 11/08/1982
My take today: It's very strange that even though we tried to cope and make the best of our situation during that period of time, after all these years, I still feel the tension and the estranged feeling of those days. It feels unsettled, and I can't shake it off. For some reason, I remember taping a tear in my dress from the back, making it look as perfect as the original. I believe it's the first creative thought that I can remember! LOL. Also, I remember I was starting to look at colors in awe. I was beginning to pay attention to my appearance and what I wore. I felt pretty :)

dom student council pres zhongli x troublemaker childe
Guess who’s back :D Back with some zhonchi smut for all u sinners. Note: Theres a lot of spelling errors bc when i wrote this i was telling it to a friend n they said i should post this n i’m too lazy to edit it so yeah! enjoy <3
summary kinda: child did something n is now stuck in detention with zhongli being a kinky president of the student council watching him.
Tumblr media
so childe is bored asf n tries seducing zhongli. but childe has always had a crush on zhongli. thats why he misbehaves to get his attention.
so zhongli says “ur here again” n sighs
“yup did you miss me?! dont answer that bc ik you did”
n zhongli sighs again all annoyed n shit
“seems you never learn”
“maybe i’m jus here bc i love n want to see you everyday”
n zhongli taking that as sarcasm rolls his eyes
“i doubt that.”
and so for like 30mins childe is making all these noises to get zhongli’s attention and annoy him which it works. and zhongli having enough of it already decides that he needs to be punished. so he gets up n walks over to the desk childe is sitting at cups his face with his hand grinning
“u rly like to get on my nerves dont you~…..” and childe’s tryna contain himself
“is it working~?”
“idk pretty boy….wanna find out for urself~…..”
n zhongli is like inches away from childe’s face. n childe still keeping his composure decides to tease back hoping to get what he’s longed for for so long.
“idk do i~?….”
and zhongli leans in n jus as hes abt to kiss childe he pulls away and walks back over to the teachers desk and childe is really disappointed bc he thought he finally had it but jus lost it. so zhongli goes back to working on his paperwork while childe is just furious.
”Is this how u treat everyone?! tease them and leave them with nothing. take advantage of us!!”
n zhongli bursts out laughing putting his papers in a neat stack
”ur quite interesting childe, if i said it was jus u would that make u feel better??”
and childe huffs rolling his eyes still rly pissed off.
“did u want more? were you expecting something more from me? something else?”
n childe blushing looks away
“fuck off”
n zhongli gets mad at the response and pulls out one of those long ass rulers n gets up n starts walking to childe.
“thats no way to speak to the student council president. you need to be punished”
so zhongli sets the ruler aside still pissed asf
“get up.” childe ignores.
”get up right now.” childe still ignores.
so zhongli grabs the ruler smacking it against the desk childe is at.
“GET UP RIGHT NOW!”
n childe jumps a little and gets up
“ok ok chill”
so childe walks over to zhongli n stands in front of him.
“im gonna punish n force you into submission until u completely submit to me”
childe laughs
“no way. you really think u can do that? just try”
“oh i will. just watch me”
(a/n: in this fic childe has bright pink sensitive nipples bc ughh 😩🤌🏾 well both of them have bright pink nipples but zhonglis r rly sensitive.)
so zhongli turns childe around n starts grinding against him causing childe to moan ever so slightly.
“do u like that~?”
n childe tryna keep his composure laughs to cover up a moan. n zhongli looks down and grins seeing childe’s hard erection through his clothes.
so zhongli reaches down n starts palming childe causing slightly louder moans to come out of his mouth.
“your so hard for me childe….what a naughty slutty little boy~“
childe loses it bc zhongli is finally saying the things he’s been dreaming of him saying. so zhongli amused starts licking the shell of his ear biting and nibbling it which makes childe blush harder. so zhongli reaches his hand down into childe’s pants and boxers and wraps his hand around childe’s dick which he almost cums. so zhongli starts pumping him n not even 30s he throws his head back on zhonglis shoulder n cums letting out a loud moan
“fuck zhongli~…..”
zhongli smirks very amused
“so quick to cum~ do i rly turn u on that much~?”
n childe fights the urge to nod his head and submit. he’s not going down without a fight.
“no i was just pent up. why would i be for someone like you!!”
zhongli snickers and slides his hands up childes shirt n starts taking it off.
“not submitting yet i see~….”
“did u think it would be that easy asshole? ha!”
so zhongli turns childe around.
“you should just give up now! your not go-“
n zhongli interrupts him with a passionate kiss. a long deep one filled with sexual tension n desire. he leaves childe blushing like crazy and gasping for air.
“what was that? i didnt catch the last part, say that again.”
“i said that i’m never gonna sub-“
n zhongli interrupts him again. same thing happens like 2 more times until childe gives up.
“can u repeat that one more time?”
and childe looks away with a annoyed expression on his face
“glad that shut u up~”
so then zhongli looks childe up and down bites his lip causing childe to blush.
“you’re kinda cute…i think i can use u….”
n childe blushes more
“and these nipples….”
zhongli says while pinching them making childe arch his back and moan loudly.
“they look pink and innocent…but when i pinch n twist them like this…”
childe lets out n even louder moan with a face flushed even more n drool running down the side of his mouth
“….you make such naughty noises and that really turns me on.”
and so zhongli continues pinch n play with them and then starts marking his neck.
“what if i made u mine hmm? my little fuck toy? or how abt pet?? you could be of some use to me….”
and all childe can do is whimper. so zhongli has him bend over on the teachers desk and pulls down childe’s pants. and he like squeezes childes plump round ass and caresses it before grabbing the ruler and spanking him with it which causes childe to moan n cum immediately.
“ur such a slutty masochist”
n childe groans n is like stuttering his words
“w-w-well ur so fucking sadis-“
n zhongli spanks him not with the ruler this time but his hand n childe jus looses it.
“ready to submit….?”
n childe tryna keep the ounce of pride he has left shakes his head.
“no!”
zhongli spanks him again.
“how abt now?”
“No!”
n so zhongli gets an idea n sticks his fingers inside childe’s mouth.
“suck”
childe does so n a minute later zhongli pulls them out.
“what are you gonna d- ahh!”
and zhongli’s fingers are wiggling around inside childe tryna get him prepared. childe has just completely lost it. he’s drooling all over the desk, moaning so loudly that if there was people here they would be able to hear, clinging onto the edge of the desk like his life is on the line.
“f-fuck zhongli…ahhh”
he’s a panting slutty mess. a fee mins later zhongli pulls his fingers out n takes off his own pants and boxers lining himself up to childes entrance. he inserts only the tip of his dick causing childe to go even more crazy if thats even possible n moan so fucking loud. but its been long enough. he wants more. more of zhongli inside him. he wants all. all of zhongli inside him. so he whimpers n cries out zhongli’s name.
“whats the problem sweetheart?”
zhongli says grinning from ear to ear.
“pls..”
childe says desperately
“pls what?”
”pls zhongli i-….”
“you…? gotta tell me what u want otherwise i wont know.”
“pls i want more of u….!!”
“beg for more than.”
“Zhongli pls i want ur cock inside me so bad. pls i’ll do anything!! just fuck me already!!”
“anything…?”
zhongli says slipping half way inside him.
“y-y-yes just pls fuck me!!”
n zhongli, a very satisfied man jus starts pounding into him hitting his g spot every time.
“Fuck! fuck! fuck! FUCK! ZHONGLI PLS SLOW DOWN AHH~!!”
n that only makes zhongli speed up and childe cums like multiple times. after a while, giving a few last thrusts zhongli comes for the second time inside childe. and pulls out while childe just drops to the floor completely unable to move or anything. jus a panting blushing hot slutty mess with zhongli’s cum dripping out of him. all pride lost. pulling his pants and boxers back on zhongli lifts him up to his feet and bc childe has no strength he just falls onto zhongli resting his head on his shoulder.
“now that you’ve completely submit to me, ur all mine~….mine to do whatever i pls with. mine and only mine. No one else….”
and childe jus nods groaning bc of the pain.
”i hope u learned ur lesson now. unless…. you wanna comeback again for another visit…”
n childe jus groans again.
“i see the way you look at me childe….a look filled with lust and desire…its really quite a turn on~….. you look so desperately….so needy….so vulnerable…the amount of times i wanted to bend you over and fuck u so hard until you cant walk is too much to count. i wanted to make you mine so no one else could have that innocent slutty little boy who’s just oozing with sexual desire. any man or woman would get turned on n wanna have there way with you. u needed to be protected and only by me.”
so zhongli grinds his teeth bc of how possessive he is.
“so no one but me can fuck u stupid. and now that ur finally mine…i dont have to worry abt it so much as before”
n so zhongli strokes childe’s hair n plants a kiss on his head.
“you’re my precious little play thing.”
and childe, burying his face into zhongli’s chest smiles bc thats all he ever wanted. and then he looks up at zhongli as zhongli looks down at him smiling.
“zhongli…?”
”yes?”
“if all u said was true….why were u such an asshole to me. you were stricter on me than others, ruder to me than others, tougher on me then others….so why?”
“why?”
zhongli chuckles n childe nods
“to keep a good reputation, but i also wanted to push you, everytime u got angry and gave me attitude it only turned me on. which is why i kept going….does that answer ur question?”
n childe grunts
“u sadistic fuck!”
n zhongli laughs
“says the one who got turned on every time i public humiliated or yelled at you….”
“thats not true!!”
“uh-huh…the sexual energy u admit would become stronger and i could hear your breathing getting heavier with breathy tiny moans and u would always part ur lips slightly and rub ur thighs together and on top of that, ur eyes squint ever so slightly.”
childe was speechless bc this whole time he thought he was being slick.
“w-w-well that doesnt matter!”
childe said huffing and zhongli only chuckled and kissed his head.
“hey childe…”
“what!”
“i love you….”
childe was blushing like crazy. never in a million years did he think zhongli would say that.
“you can’t just go randomly saying those things?!!”
childe said burying his face deeper into zhonglis chest.
“b-but i love you too i guess…”
he mumbled and zhongli smirked.
“look at me.”
childe looked up into zhonglis ambers eyes embarrassed asf.
“wh-wh-what is it?”
“you’re really cute yk.”
n zhongli leaned down slightly and kissed him before he could say anything else. the end :)
thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed even though its formatted weird and kinda sorta a story. 🥰

Prologue     Chapter 1   Chapter 2  Chapter 3
“I will grant them handsome features and beguiling voices,” the maiden whispered, her own voice dripping with honey “that all who great them will be blessed from the meeting.”
“I told you it wouldn’t work!” Remus grinned smugly when Romulus was deposited back in in their room, their nanny shutting the door firmly behind him.
“Urghh.” Romulus whined as he hurled himself face first onto Remus’ bed, making his giggling brother bounce from the impact. “But it should have! It always does in the stories!”
What was the point of having a twin, Romulus wondered if they couldn’t even switch places to get him out of boring geography lessons?
Remus poked him until Romulus rolled over onto his side to pout at his brother.
“It’s because I’m better lookin’ than you.” Remus told him cheerfully.
Romulus thwacked him with a pillow. “We’re identical!”
“Doesn’t matter,” Remus grabbed a second pillow from the floor, “I’m still the cute one!”
“Are not!”
“Are too!”
“Are not!”
“Are to – oof!”
The pillow fight soon descended into a wrestling match, their shrieks and giggles echoing through the bed chamber.
Eventually they ran out of breath and Remus flopped back down on the bed, his legs hanging over the edge. Romulus collapsed on the floor amongst the fallen pillows, batted Remus’ foot away from his face and gazed up at the family portrait hanging above their fire place.
They were identical. The artist had taken care to draw the crown prince a little bigger than his brother, closer to the forefront of the picture, but even so; their hair, eyes, nose - everything was the same.
Romulus glanced up at his brother, who was currently digging snot out his nose with every sign of enjoyment. Romulus gagged. They were not the same -Remus was gross!
Except.
Everyone said what a handsome young man Remus was growing up to be. How brightly his eyes sparkled.  How confidently he held himself, even as a child. They never said that stuff about Romulus.
Remus shone, even when he was being gross.
“Your voice is better.” Remus said suddenly, snapping Romulus out of his sulk.
“What?”
“Your voice.” The older twin lent over the bed, staring his brother in the eye “It’s nicer than mine, ‘specially when you sing.” Romulus beamed, showing off his gap toothed smile. Their parents had hired teachers to drill both boys on the lute and harpsicord, but Romulus’ talent for singing was all him.
“You think so?”
“Yeah.” Remus smiled back at him. He’d lost a baby tooth that week too – one of his canines, giving him lopsided fangs. “And you’re way better at crying.”
“What! Well – your feet are stinker!”
“You’re worse at pranks!”
“Well you’re worse at fencing!”
“But l I’m the best at tickling!” declared Remus and leapt from the bed, pinning Romulus with his knee whilst his fingers attacked his brothers armpits.  The younger prince’s peals of laughter and cries for mercy were so loud nanny came rushing back to check on them, finding the future rulers of Notaleveale wrapped around each other on the floor, covered in dust and wearing matching smiles.
“I will grant them strength and creativity.” The mother smiled, she had a thousand eyes and all of them twinkled under the halls many candles “so that their rule will never be questioned.”
“Lord Venchi?”  Romulus asked.
The royal treasurer, normally one of the more composed members of his father council, was pacing the entrance hall alone, what little hair he had left sticking up in all directions as he tugged at it.
“Oh, Your Highness!” The he gasped when he caught sight of Romulus, “oh thank goodness! He-“
Romulus sighed. “What has my brother done now?”
Romulus had spent the morning on a rare visit into town, missing the days council meeting. It was completely unfair -  Romulus attended meetings almost daily, under Julius supervision, as part of his training to one day take over managing whichever aspect of the kingdom bored the future King Remus the most. They were mind numbingly dull sessions and it was only Julius’ steady glare that kept Romulus’ eyes open and his face attentive.
But today, visitors from the far south were attending. Which meant the session might actually be interesting. Which meant Remus got to go, and Romulus was immediately barred from entry. Instead, his father had asked him to represent the family at the ceremonial graduation of the latest batch of city watch recruits. So, instead of hearing tales from beyond the kingdoms borders, he had spent most of the day on a podium waving dispassionately at a crowd of braying onlookers.
It was always daunting, being around so many common folk. They lacked the decorum of the nobles at court. Whilst most seemed content to gape and sigh at him from a distance, there was always one who would shout out ‘my prince, look at me!’, ‘come here!’, ‘kiss my baby!’
Even with his fathers voice ringing in his ears – “no matter what you hear, stay by your guards side until you are back in the palace.” – Romulus had spent the day tense and unhappy, pinpricks of pain dancing in his skull. By the time he was allowed to speak he had quite forgotten his prepared speech and been forced to make up a quick poem on the spot. The crowd had seemed happy enough – the watch captain had tears in his eyes - but he knew neither Julius or his parents would be happy with his improvising once his guards had reported in.
He had hoped to get a few hours alone before the inevitable lecture, and were it anyone else he might have tried to sneak by without getting pulled into whatever chaos Remus had caused.
But Venchi was an old ally, one who had served his father wisely for years and who always took the time to compliment Romulus on his few measured contributions to the councils discussions, or to explain carefully any point he had missed.
He had also seen Remus at council. There shouldn’t have been anything left that the older prince could do to shock him to this extent.
“He-“ the old man looked like he couldn’t quite believe his own words, “He flipped the table.”
Romulus stared at him. The council table was ancient and enormous, made of a stone so old it’s real name has been lost. Moving it was impossible, the palace had practically been built around it.
“The Arkazeii  ambassador is being seen by a healer.” Venchi continued, “but I believe his foot Is broken, I-“
The side door behind them slammed open suddenly, crashing into the wall with enough force to make the hanging portraits shake. “I said.” Remus roared, a snarl on his handsome face, “Leave me alone!”
His voice was so forceful Romulus found he had taken three steps towards the main door before he stopped himself, face flushing. The order hadn’t been meant for him. Julius, who had clearly been chasing after the young crown prince, was now openly glaring down at Remus, two spots of colour high on his cheeks.
“Your highness I must insist-“
“Seriously?” Remus cackled, “You’re insisting?  Juju, honestly, I am not interested in what you have to say.” He barred his teeth at the King’s advisor, eyes wild,  “If my father wants me he can come get me himself but if not you can go and -oh.”
“Hello Remus.” Romulus sighed, giving the shortest bow he could get away with, “I hear your meeting went well.”
Remus eyes narrowed “Hello Romy, have fun getting your butt kissed in town?” he slug his arm around his brother’s neck, adopting a high pitched, sing song tone in apparent impression of the townsfolk “Oh Prince Romulus, you’re sooo clever and handsome and perfect. Won’t you pretty please sign an autograph and let me suck your di-“
“Your highness, please!” Venchi looked disgusted “There is no need for vulgarity.”
“Aww hey Vee! Wow, your hair is really going, you know the balder you get the more you look like my ballsack? Romy – I’m serious, picture him with two heads”  he held up his thumbs and index fingers and positioned them in front of the red-faced treasurer like a frame “I can’t be the only one that sees this.”
“You are.” Romulus snapped, shrugging his brothers arm off of his shoulders, “Did you really break the Arkazeii ambassadors foot?”
“The Arkazeii ambassador deserved it.” Remus snarled, good humour vanishing instantly. “They want to dig up Orenlla till it’s hollow. Use the rock to turn their sky black. Have you heard the stories outta that place? All the chickens are dying, ’s a travesty.”
“The chickens are- what? Just. Whatever. Not liking his trade ideas doesn’t mean you can hurt him!”
Remus eyes were always sparkling. Like a man on the brink of madness. “I can do whatever I want little brother.” He grinned at him with too many teeth, “you should try it sometime.”
“Your sons have all the makings of rulersss” the final fae smiled, her one golden eye glinting in the depth of her cloak. “My gift is for you. I give your children honestly and obedience.” She smiled sweetly, “May they bring you joy.”
“Your father is sick” Julius told him.
I know that Romulus thought but didn’t say. Watching the old man carefully.
They were in Julius practice room, at the top of the northmost turret, where Romulus had spent so much of his childhood.
“There is of course, still hope. And we have the finest healers, from every corner of the Kingdom.” Julius was pacing as he spoke, wringing his hands. It was profoundly odd, to see the old man so unsettled. But he had known Romulus’ father from when they were both boys. He loved him, as much as he was capable of loving anyone, and he loved the kingdom that he helped rule.
So Romulus found he wasn’t as surprised as he should have been with what Julius said next.
“Your brother cannot be allowed to take the throne.”
Since Romulus curse had been recognised, his parents had taken great pains to limit the brothers’ interactions, for both of their safety.
Remus could not keep a secret.
Remus was honest. He was honest at their mothers funeral when he’d announced to the mourners that she was ‘a bitch by anyone’s definition’ and honest later than evening when he’d sobbed into Romulus’ shoulder and cried that he would miss her.
He was honest when he announced to Romulus causally, over are rare shared meal, that he dreamed about killing him. “I’d do it with a morning star” he told him, slapping his spoon down onto the head of a roasted tomato and watching the red pulp fly about his plate. “Just like that.”
He was honest when he forced his way into Romulus’ room at night, shook him awake and told him, shaking, that the palace was haunted. That voices whispered to him from every corner - so loud that he couldn’t sleep.
He was honest when Romulus asked him, baffled, why are you telling me this. “I trust you.” Remus admitted, his voice thick, “You’re the only one I can trust.”
Just because he was honest, didn’t mean he was right.
Romulus gazed at Julius, his face carefully blank – a skill he had perfected over many council meetings.- and said “I don’t think you can order me to change our birth order.”
“No.” Julius smiled, and had the decency to look pained. “That’s not what I’m going to ask.”
In this room, Julius had tried every trick to strip Romulus of his curse. And when he failed, he’d dedicated himself to learning every possible way it could be exploited. In order to help protect him, of course.
“Sit there and listen to me until I finish.”
If Romulus didn’t hear an order in full, even if he could guess it, it could be ignored. As a child he’d sometimes escape his teachers simply by running away before they could give him the next task.
“The next time you lay eyes on your brother, kill him. Ensure no one can trace it back to you.”
Vague orders were still orders, and often more effective than those that were too direct. If he couldn’t prevent someone from seeing him, then he would have to kill the witness too in order to obey the instructions in full.
“Let no one know you did it. Tell no one of our conversation”
There was, by now, a long list of things Romulus was forbidden from talking about. It was one of Julius’ favourite orders to give.
“If anyone contradicts this order, ignore them.”
Contradictions were tricky. Normally the most recent order would take precedence, but often enough once the newer order had been completed, the old one would return.
“Do you understand me, Price Romulus?”
Romulus nodded and some of the tension left Julius’ shoulders.
He smiled at Romulus then, and lent over the bush back a strand of hair that had fallen across the young man’s face. He left his hand on Romulus cheek and gazed at him like he really was a kindly old mentor and Romulus his favoured pupil.
“This year, it will be the rise of King Romulus. You will be a just and fair ruler. I’ll make sure of it.”
***
As the second son of a King, Romulus future had never been certain.
His parents discussed it often. He should have become a commander in the army, or a leader of the church or married off to a neighbouring princess and become king in his own right. With all options too likely to lead to discovery however, it had been decided he would stay home, construct a reputation of studious detachment and become his brothers distant advisor.
Help him. Protect him.
Like Julius protected them.
Instead, Romulus ran away and became Roman.
Roman was loud and confident and sprouted poetry and song without hesitation. He basked in the attention from crowds and flirted  with every pretty face who crossed his path. He worked and earned for himself and argued back with anyone who disagreed with him and never sat still if he could help it. He kept Romulus and his memories of home buried so deep sometimes he forgot he’d ever had another name.
Even so, there had always been, at the back of his mind, the paranoia of this day. When he would be found. Recognised. Forced back to Romulus life.
He just didn’t think when it happened it would be so embarrassing.
They’d reached a fork in the road. The Marquis paused and whipped his head from side to side, presumably checking for witnesses although it looked more like he was trying to shake water free from his ears. He stepped in front on Roman.
“You.” He enunciated slowly and loudly “Turn left. Okay? Le – e -e f -t”
Roman stared at him.
He had been kidnapped by an idiot.
With great deliberation he rested all his weight on one foot and turned left. And then kept turning, spinning in a circle a few times until the Marquis hissed “no!” and grabbed his arm.
And then dropped it immediately, wiping his hand on his sleeve.
“You. Just – follow me, alright? This way.”
Roman rolled his eye but did as he was told.  The man could have just told him in the beginning to follow him to wherever their destination was, and Roman would have done so. There was no need to give him a new instruction every few paces. But if the Marquis – what was his first name? Romulus must have known at some point – didn’t know the ins and outs of his curse then Roman wasn’t going to be the one to tell him.
They continued on, the Marquis stopping every three feet to stare at him, or repeat some instruction, or glare at a crumpled map in his hands. Roman despaired. Romulus had had a crush on this man.
At first, Roman assumed he would lead him towards the Royal Palace and present his find to the Princess or to whatever other Notalevealian nobles were already here for the coronation. But instead he tugged him away from the wider streets, back down hill towards the main sprawl of the city.
“Where are you taking me, villain?” Roman asked after twenty minutes of marching “because I’m pretty sure we’ve passed that street lamp three times already.”
“Somewhere where your little friend won’t be able to help you.” the Marquis muttered, glaring at the lamp in question.
Roman felt his heart freeze. His friend?
He supposed it made sense. There was no conceivable way they could have been followed in the woods. Not without Patton or Virgil noticing. The Marquis must have spotted him in the market and followed from there, which means he would have at least seen Logan, perhaps the others too since he had been at the tavern…
Although why would a noble be at the Stevangie street market?
He tried not to let his anxiety show on his face, puffing his chest out and summoning his most haughty glare.
“Listen to me, lordling, if any harm should come to them I will personally-“
“Them?” The Marquis stumbled, map fluttering to the floor. When he spun to glare at Roman his eyes were enormous. “How many are there?”
Roman blinked, haughty glare ruined by his genuine confusion. “Erm,” he tried “lots?”
The Marquis audibly gulped, but before Roman could even attempt to interpret that the man’s face brightened, his gaze caught on something behind Roman. He smirked, some swagger returning to his step.
“No matter.” He said and grabbed Romans arm, dragging him towards a nondescript building in the centre of the street, unlocking the door and shoving the bard through.
It was a bath house. The back entrance, perhaps, but the damp in the air and smell of scented soap was unmistakable.
Roman tried, in his sleep-deprived, underfed, over-stressed state, to come up with a reasonable explanation for this.
He had nothing.
“Why-“
“Shut up” The Marquis snapped. “Walk that way.” He pushed Roman down a long corridor, past arched doorways through which he caught a glimpse of the bathhouse proper, and into a dusty looking stairwell. He had produced a candle from somewhere, but the dim light did very little to illuminate anything as they gingerly picked their way down.
When they finally reached the bottom floor Roman squinted to see boxes and crates of empty bottles– a storage room? But he had no time to take it all in before he was being dragged through another pair of doors. Two more rooms and another set of stairs later and the Marquis finally stopped.
The room he’d led them to was hot and humid. Sweat dripped down Romans nose after only a few seconds. At first he couldn’t work out what the noise that filled the room was, until his eyes adjusted enough to see the tubes running from the floor to ceiling.
“You’re lucky to see this.” The Marquis had to raise his voice over the rush of running water to be heard “This room is a modern miracle – the lifeblood of the city!”
Steveange’s heated bath houses were famous. So much so even Virgil had heard of them, and he seemed to take pride in knowing nothing about the outside world. Roman had assumed the city must have been built on hot springs or some other natural source, but this was something else.
“The furnace is below us.” The Marquis explained, as he propelled Roman towards the back wall. “The pipes bring water from the river, it’s heated and pumped up and out to every bathhouse in the city.”
He grinned with something like pride as he tapped one of the  pipes above Romans head, making it sing, “Arkazeii engineering and Orenllan iron. Lined with Orenllan copper of course…give me your jacket.”
“But. Notaleveale doesn’t trade it’s ores” Roman blinked rapidly, trying to remove the sweat from his eyes, as he shrugged out of his jacket.
Jacket was a generous term – it was a silken red thing, better suited to performances than travelling. But he enjoyed the way it billowed as he walked. The Marquis took it and without so much as a moments respect for the garment, ripped one of the sleeves clean off.
“Hey!”
“You’ve been away a long time.” the Marquis snarled, “you little fae touched traitor.”
Roman gaped at him, even as the man grabbed his right arm and began attempting to tie it to the nearest pipe.
“I used to look up to you” the Marquis continued, “you were everything a Prince should be. But you betrayed your father and put a curse of madness on your brother - all because of your own petty jealousy!”
He squeezed Romans wrist with enough force to leave bruises. And stepped back to admire his handywork. The silky material had no grip and it was painfully obvious the man was not used to getting his hand dirty. The resulting knot looked more like a bow. “You are no prince of mine.”
“Lucius.“ Roman knew he’d known his name. “That’s not true. That’s- that’s not even a clever story! Who came up with that?”
“Shut up.” Some of the panic from the journey had come back to Lucius’ eyes but it faded quickly “And don’t think you can scare me with my name, there is more iron in this room then anywhere else in the city.”
He grinned at Roman nastily. “Your little friends aren’t coming to save you.”
Roman stayed quiet, mind whirling. They thought Remus was cursed?
Well. He was. But not in the way Lucius seemed to believe.
They wouldn’t send a mad man to another kingdoms coronation would they? Had the seller actually been certain Remus was coming?
Tied up, exhausted and with a man who seemed to hate him glaring down, Roman started to giggle in giddy relief.
Lucius stepped back, looking unsettled, before reaching out, roughly grabbing Romans chin and shoving the remnants of his jacket into his mouth. “Stay here,” he told him, slowly and clearly “until I come back with your transport.”
He stood, taking the candle with him to the door. He paused for one moment before leaving, the flickering light illuminating a cruel smirk. “You had better hope I can arrange it before the furnaces come back on.” And he was gone.
Roman glanced above himself into the darkness, where his wrists were strapped tight to the currently cool metal. A rush of fear went through him, finally bringing him down from the giggling hysteria.
Alone In the dark, tried to think.
Roman was a bad friend. He lied to his companions as easy as breathing and took his own fears out on them.
Romulus was a bad prince. He had abandoned his kingdom and his subjects and allowed some sort of conspiracy to spring up in his wake.
But he was a good brother. Remus was alive. And he would stay that way.
After all, this afternoon he thought that Remus was here. That he would have to confront his past, escape the city, evade every member of the Notalevealian court and his  own friends and steal a horse.
Now all he had to do was get out of this basement and outwit one idiot who could barely tie knots and hadn’t even thought to pat him down to check for hidden daggers.
Easy-peasy he thought, his eyes fluttering closed as exhaustion finally overtook him.

Chapter 2 - Carpe Diem
September 15
The year wasn’t so boring after all.
“What do you mean you went to see her at her school?” You stopped Sam as he darted from Tom’s room to his.
“An angel.” He grinned as he planted himself in front of you with a dreamy look in his eyes. “Love of my life.” He mumbled making you smile.
“Well, what did she say?” You bounced on your heels in anticipation.
“I don’t know.” He looked away and then back to you. “I didn’t talk to her.”
“What do you mean you didn’t talk to her!?” you punched his chest with the back of your hand, hating the ending of his story. “Why!?”
“Her boyfriend...” He slumped his shoulder and walked back to his dorm, lightly slamming the door behind him. As if on cue your own boyfriend arrived in a fury running in the hallway like a mad man.
“I found what I truly want to do!” He looked into your eyes before shoving a piece of paper into your hands.
“A Midsummer night's dream?” You raised an eyebrow as you watched him jump up and down on his bed. You shared a concerning look with Harrison. “What does it have to do with you?” You fought back a smile.
“They’re putting it on a Kingston Hall.” He replied/scream earning raised eyebrows. “Open Tryouts! OPEN TRYOUTS!” He shouted turning to you and moving his hands towards you like he wanted to just grab your face and kiss you but couldn’t. He huffed in frustration and made a full circle.
“I’m going to act!” He smiled with a dreamy look in his eyes. “YES! YES! I’m gonna be an actor!” You watched your boyfriend as his eyes filled with sparks. “I wanted to try this forever but my father wouldn’t let me!”
“Yeah, I remember when you wanted to try for the summer play last year.” You smiled in admiration, leaning on his doorway.
He looked at you like the world couldn’t get any better “For the first time in my whole life, I know what I wanna do. AND IM GOING TO DO IT! CAARRPEE DIEEEEEAM!” He screamed with a chuckle.
“Tom, hold on. What if your father finds out?” Harrison broke in.
“To hell with him!” You giggled, happy to see Tom happy.
“Yes.” He turned to you and huffed a laugh. “He won’t. First I need to get the part and then I can worry about him finding out.” He looked at you and smiled again. “If I don’t ask him, at least I won’t be disobeying him.”
“I’m happy for you.” you reached for him and squeezed his shoulder, the contact being short but sending shivers down both your bodies.
“No touching!” Harrison joked imitating your grandfather’s voice. You scrunched up your nose.
“Ew. Don’t do that again, Haz.”
September 28
“When are you getting the audition results?” You asked Tom as Sam took Harry's place in the middle of the circle.
“Next week.” He whispered back.
“My actor.” You ruffled his hair before pressing a kiss to his lips.
Sam cleared his throat when the kiss wouldn't stop. You both blushed with a light chuckle, resting your head on his shoulder to look at Sam who was ready to say his poem.
“Now" He stretched his arms and cracked his knuckles. "In honor of my love for Chris.”
"Who I still haven't met by the way?" You raised an eyebrow. "I need to check if she's worthy of you."
"You'll meet her soon enough." He chuckled. "Anyways, I have prepared a poem.”
“Like the one you wrote for class?” Harry grinned.
“No.” Sam deadpanned before clearing his throat again, straightening himself, and opening the book of verse. “This one is from Romeo and Juliet.” He gave Harry a death glare.
“Well, c’mon do your poem.” You grinned, Tom wrapping his hand a little tighter around your waist.
“But, soft! what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Chris is the sun.” Everyone laughed at the name change, the vibration of Tom’s laughter making your heart skip a beat. “Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, Who is already sick and pale with grief, That thou her maid art far more fair than she:”
You thought for a second as you heard Sam’s words. You lifted your stare to look at Tom. You couldn’t help but stare at him as the words of love escaped your friend's mouth. You loved Tom more than anything in the whole wide world, and nothing could alter that.
Right here, at that moment, you knew he was the one you were meant to spend the rest of your life with. The one you wanted to spend the rest of your life with.
“Wait a minute.” Harry broke Sam’s speech as he watched you look at Tom with a love-struck expression. “Didn’t Romeo and Juliet get married like the second they met?” His lips broke into a grin.
“Yeah. They fell in love and got married right away. Why?” you replied.
“You two should get married.”
“What?” Both you and Tom turned your full attention to Harry who couldn’t stop smiling at the idea.
“It would be just the poets. There’s a village far enough they won’t know who we are, but close enough we can go by bike right now and come back before curfew. It's Saturday who cares if we leave campus? They have this beautiful little chapel. You guys should do it! Carpe Diem right?”
You blinked as his words soaked it.
“Make this Romeo and Juliet but without the death! Write your own story! Seize the goddamn day! Carpe Diem for Christ sakes” He continued. “The two of you love each other so much you would get married someday anyway!” You cheeks flushed at that comment. “Why not do it now!?” He aggressively banged his hands together to make his point.
You turned to look at Tom, he met your eyes for a slight second before turning towards Sam. “Give me the book.” He waved his hand and Sam handed it to him.
“What’s your favorite poem again? Some with the sea?” You didn’t understand what he was doing but you replied anyway.
“Yeah, Out of the rolling ocean the crow by Whitman. Why?” You looked at him while he flipped through the pages. “I think it’s page 289.”
Tom took your word and went to page 289 - indeed seeing the poem.
“Does anyone have a quill?” Everyone’s stare was glued to Tom who looked in a hurry. Harrison handed him his and Tom scribbled something on the neighboring page before ripping out the one with your poem on it.
“Tom, what the heck?” Instead of answering you, he stood up and walked to the other corner of the cave turning his back to everyone.
“Sam, will you help me with this?” Sam awkwardly nodded before trotting towards Tom.
Harry took the book from the floor and read what was scribbled. ‘Sorry if this page is missing, I needed something to propose the love of my life with.’ Harry shook his head and smiled.
“You son of a bitch” He chuckled and you looked at Harry in confusion. Before you could even grab the book and read it for yourself Tom turned around and stared down at you.
“Stand up.” He asked and you followed orders, dusting some dirt off your pants when you did. You looked at him up and down and noticed he was hiding the paper behind his back. “Y/n?” His soft tone echoed through the cave. All the boys stayed silent as they carefully listened.
“Yeah?” He took one of your hands in his free one, still locking eyes with you. He slowly got down on one knee and that’s when you realized what he was doing. The page was folded into a ring.
He looked up to you with hope-filled eyes and started speaking again.
“To the one who took my heart,
I have loved you ever since I saw you,
as my love for you is as boundless as is It true.
Heaven is where you and I kiss each other,
So will you marry me?
And if you do agree,
I will be yours forever,
Dead Poet’s Honor.”
He squeezed your hand as he waited for your answer.
You took a second to really look at him. Taking in the sight of the love of your life. He looked gorgeous in the light of the moon. His messy hair and brown eyes sparkling. You thought about how literally 2 minutes ago you thought about the answer to that question and a huge smile painted your lips. You nodded as happy tears started coming to your eyes.
“Yes.” You blurt out jumping into his arms. “Yes, yes, yes, yes.” You cried as you attacked him with kisses. He wrapped his arms around your waist as you did, taking in every second of happiness that this moment was bringing him.
“I love you so much.” He smiled before you crashed your lips to his again, smiling into the kiss.
He suddenly pulled away and grabbed your left hand, placing the poem ring on your finger. The whole cave echoed in claps and cheers worst than the time you had told Tom you loved him back, and the whole group started patting your backs.
Harry looked at his watch. "C'mon guys let's go!" He yawped with joy.
Tom locked your lips with his before picking you up bridal style. The cave still rang with chants and claps, and they didn't die out as you made your way back towards the campus.
He dropped you once you were back, and you all sprinted towards your bikes.
You all took random ones, Paddy almost tripping on one as the hurry got to him. You all started heading towards the road until an idea popped into your mind.
"Wait." you were almost out of the school's territory before you dropped your bike and sprinted towards the headmaster's house that was just near the perimeter.
They all watched you as you disappeared in between the trees, getting a glimpse of you when you climbed your window and stepped into your room.
You caught your breath before walking towards your closet, grabbing a chair on the way. You couldn’t remove the smile off your lips as you climbed on it and pushed out of the top shelf the huge Louis Vuitton Malle where all your mother's best belongings had been stored.
You opened it, taking in your mother's scent. It brought a sudden wave of nostalgia towards you as you sat on the floor and removed old photos that rested on top. You laid them on the floor of your room as you searched for the piece of clothing you wanted. You smiled when you saw the picture of your parents’ wedding that sat on a beautiful soft silk fabric.
You removed the picture, smiling when you saw it. The smile on your mother’s and father's face brought a feeling of pure happiness inside you. A sudden thought passed through you - you were going to get to live that happiness right now, with Tom.
That’s when you realized. Pictures. You at least needed someone to take pictures.
You jumped up and walked back towards your closet, fumbling with a few things before finally getting your hands on a camera. You dusted the lens and tried a picture, smiling when it got out in perfect condition. You got all your recharges and put them in your duffle bag along with the camera itself.
You walked back to the suitcase. Removed a few pouches, opening them to reveal the most beautiful pieces of jewelry. You’d just have to pick your favorite.
Finally, your hand landed on what you wanted.
The silky dress that was under the wedding picture. Your mother’s wedding dress. It was a simple dress but it was still the most beautiful one you had seen. You unfolded it and admired the hand-sewn details.
You didn't care if it fitted, but you packed it. You played around with all your jewelry collection until you made the perfect match. A necklace, pearl earrings, a beautiful shiny bracelet, and pretty hair clips. You even grabbed a bracelet that use to be your father’s for Tom.
You placed everything back in the Malle, and that’s when you realized there was something glued to the back of the wedding picture.
A transparent bag with two wedding rings. You didn’t think twice before taking them.
Your heart pounded with anticipation, a shiver of excitement passing through you when you jumped with the duffle bag on your shoulder, landing on the soft grass and running back towards the waiting boys.
“What's that future Mrs. Holland?” Tom wondered when he saw the bag over your shoulder, stealing you a kiss before you mounted your bike again.
"Something - A surprise." He liked the sparkle in your eyes when you said it.
"And where's Harry?"
"He left too - said he needed to grab something."
“I can’t believe the two of you are getting married” Harrison grinned. "What would his parents and your grandpa said if they knew?” He let out a chuckle of disbelief.
“They won't” You bit your lip fighting back a smile. “We’ll make sure of that.” You nodded and looked left to see Tom staring back.
"I'm here!" Harry screamed sprinting towards you with his bag going up and down.
"What's this?" Paddy raised an eyebrow.
"You'll see."
An hour later and you all parked your bikes behind a beautiful little white stone Chapelle. You smiled, gripping the handle of your bag a little tighter.
“Wait, before we go in!” You zipped your bag open and fished out your camera. Waving it towards the boys.
“You’re a genius.” Harry’s face lit up.
“I brought enough recharges to make at least 60 photos.” You grinned as you showed them some picture paper packets.
Harry took the camera from you. “C’mon guys.” He waved for you to come into a group, Tom didn’t hesitate to wrap his arm around your waist as you did. Harry clicked a few selfie-like pictures, one with you and Tom kissing as they all made disgusted faces, another one where you all did funny faces, and a more serious one with a few smiles.
You took a second to look at the Chapelle. It was a beautiful place. It was very small like it could host a max of 20 people and the outside walls were full of flowers and leaves that had climbed all the way up the roof.
“Shall we?” You wondered, sharing a smile with Tom that made your cheeks warm up. You walked inside, and the calmness of the place brought a certain feeling of peace inside, easing all your nerves at once.
A priest was standing at the other end, fumbling with something.
“How can I help you?” He wondered when he lifted his head to see a group of 6 teens staring at him.
“Yes.” You took a step forward. “We’d like to have a wedding. Right now if it’s possible.”
“A wedding?” He looked at you for a second, his stare shifting to yours and Tom's intertwined hands “I assume it’s the two of you?” You nodded.
“Aren’t you a little too young?” He wondered at loud and quickly realized with the look in everyone's eyes that there was no arguing. “Are you sure you want to do this?”
“Yes.” You squeezed Tom’s hand.
“Alright.” He shrugged and turned to his altar. “Do you guys at least have better clothes? Or will you get married in those school uniforms?” He wondered with a chuckle.
"I do." You unshoulder your bag.
"And I got this for you." Harry gave his bag to Tom. "I couldn't let you get married in these ugly, lives threatening clothes now could I?"
~
“Harry?” You opened the back door of the chappel only to reveal your head.
Tom was changing behind a screen and the priest was starting some preparations around the altar.
There was no one but trees for kilometers away, so you weren't scared to get changed outside.
“Yeah?” He wondered as he met your eyes
“Could you come here for a second?” you asked and Harry looked around, confusion written all over his eyes. When you didn’t get a response you continued. “I promise I’m decent.” You chuckled. “I just need to ask you something.”
Harry shuffled with his Welton tie as he trotted towards you. You opened the door, staying behind it until you closed it. He moved his head up to see you - freezing when he took in your appearance.
You had untied and brushed your hair, it fell perfectly around your face, making you look like a goddess. You were personally surprised the dress fitted so well. It hugged every part of your body perfectly. The skirt was loose but the top part hugged your stomach and chest. The short sleeves fitted perfectly and the way it looked on you made you smile. It was meant to be.
Harry continued scanning your beautiful figure as the jewels perfectly reflected on your skin. He had never seen you like this - he felt his jaw drop.
“First, will you help with the buttons?” You wondered as you turned around taking your hair in your hands, making sure it wouldn’t get in the way. Harry nodded, feeling every word stuck in the back of his throat. You chuckled at his silence.
“You- you look beautiful.” He mumbled when you turned around.
“Thank you. Now I have something to ask you.” You looked into his eyes, a pause falling as he waited for your question. “Will you give me away?”
“Oh wow." His eyes lit up when he realized what you were asking. "I would love to!”
“Thank you.” You brought him into a tight hug. “This means a lot.” You let out a wobbly sigh into his arms.
“Don’t worry it’s normal.” He smiled awkwardly patting your shoulder. “You’re my best friend Y/n/n - I’m not going to let you walk down the aisle alone.” He scoffed like it would be an insult to let you do that.
“Also.” You pulled away from the hug and got something from your bag. “I found this in my mother's things. If you could give it to the priest.” Harry’s face lit up when he saw the rings.
“I knew we were missing something” He clicked his tongue with a smirk. “This is going to be amazing.” He shook his head.
“Tell me about it.”
~
“Nervous?” Harry wondered as you blew an agitated breath, holding on tight to a small bouquet of wildflowers.
“A little.” You smiled. “Excited nervous.” You looked at the Chapelle doors.
You were all ready and Tom was on the other end of the aisle, waiting for you - with all the boys sitting on the edge of their seats in the front row.
Sam had the camera lens locked on Tom’s face eagerly waiting to capture his face when you entered.
“Alright.” You smiled and Harry folded his arm so you could hold it. “Let’s do this.”
The air got sucked out of your lungs right there. You looked down the aisle to meet Tom’s eyes. He did indeed clean himself up as Harry asked.
He looked beautiful, in a suit you had probably never seen him wear before. His hair might have still been ruffled from the bike ride but that didn’t make him look any less godly. Candles reflected in his eyes making them look like pretty pools of honey.
You could just stare at him all day - and it took everything in you to remember how to walk.
Tom could say the same thing. All the sudden he forgot how to breathe. He had never seen you in a dress before and you looked like the way people say Aphrodite look like.
All the boys were starstruck by you - envying Tom but without an ounce of jealousy in them.
Harry gave you a quick kiss on the cheek as you let go of his arm. You stepped up and met Tom’s eyes from close. You could bet he was on the edge of tearing up - and so were you.
You reached for Tom’s hand you felt sparks fly when they met. As if it was the very first time you had ever held him. His skin felt warm on yours and you never wanted to let go.
The priests said a bunch of random words but you were too focused on looking at Tom to hear them - so was Tom. He couldn’t stop staring and you and both of you blushed under each other's glances.
“Does anybody oppose?” Sam stood up and you and Tom’s heart went at lightning speed. All the boys looked at him like he was a mad man.
He cleared his throat. “I don’t actually oppose.” He gave a sheepish smile when he saw the weird look everyone was giving him. Everyone blew a thankful breath.
“I just- I wanted to say that I’ve never seen any two people who love each other the way these two do, Dead Poets Honor.” He put a hand over his heart “Even my parents don’t have the same look in their eyes. I love you both of you so much and I'm so happy you found each other. And I hope that someday Chris will look at me the way you look at Tom.” You puffed out a teary chuckle.
You wiped your eyes at his words and so did Harry and Paddy who nodded along - emotions catching up with everyone. You mumbled a thank you before bringing your stare back to your fiance.
“Well, thank you for that gentlemen. Now,” He turned his stare back to you and your husband to be. “Tom Holland, do you take-”
“Yes.” Everyone chuckled.
“Sorry.” He grinned when the priest looked at him with playful anger.
“I’ll repeat.” He cleared his throat. “Tom Holland, do you take Y/n-”
“Yes.” Everyone giggled at Tom.
“Will you please let me finish?” This time he seemed almost angry and Tom looked at him with a cheeky smile. “Alright, I know we all know the answer to this but formalities." He shrugged. "Tom Holland, do you take Y/n L/n to be your wife?”
“Yes.” Tom took a step closer to you as he placed the ring that was once your mother's on your finger. "Dead poets honor." He smile.
“Y/n L/n” He turned to you. “Do you take Tom Holland to be your husband?”
“Yes.” You nodded fighting back a tear when you placed your father’s wedding ring on Tom’s finger. "Dead poets honor"
“Congratulations. You are now husband and wife... You may kiss the bride.” The priest smiled when he saw the way you and Tom and looked up from your hands to each other’s eyes.
Tom took a second to step closer to you, placing his hand on your cheek to wipe a falling tear. He took your appearance in and you did the same.
For a second you felt like the only two people in the world and nothing else mattered. You brought your hand to his chest as he suddenly leaned in kissing you like it was the last time your lips would ever touch.
He held your waist as the kiss deepened, and you smiled when you were brought back to earth with the numerous cheers and claps that echoed in the small Chappell. The boys cheered and sang like this place wasn’t sacred, or was suppose to stay quiet. It was the best moment of your life.
In this moment, you knew life was never going to be boring again.

Part 1
Previously:
“It was an accident daddy” said Jared as he rolled up the sleeve of his shirt. Harry let go of Jensen to help Jared “Jared what happened baby? You can tell me, I won’t get mad, I promise”
Jared, Jared was the one with the bruise, YN made a mental note.
Now:
“Thomson was playing football with Kevin in the street and the ball hit my arm when Thomson hit it” Jared explained with a pouted lip,  Jensen nodded the whole time.
“Where was your mom when this happen?” Harry asked as he tried to fix his son’s messy black hair.
“Inside with Lily” Jensen says looking at Jared and then at his father “Lily cries loads daddy! She doesn’t let me sleep” he complains crossing his small arms across his chest
“Babies cry a lot Jensen” Harry tried his best to explain “They are too small to talk, they don’t know how to say they are hungry and they just cry.” He said standing up looking at the two kids “Okay, grab your bags and your coats” he gave them a small smile
Thomson, kevin, Jared, Jensen and LILY! How many kids did Harry have? Why hasn’t she notice? Y/N stared at Harry as he approached her “They are your kids…” was the only thing she could say
“Yeah, these two little twin monsters, you didn’t know?” he asks confused running a hand through his hair. She shook her head no
“I mean, now I see they look like you, but I didn’t notice before” she smiled nervously as she wrapped her cardigan around herself. The twins ran to him with their coats on and the bacs on their back.
“Are we going with grandma, daddy?” Jared asked as he looked up at Harry, Jensen held his father’s hand waiting for his answer
“We are going to stop by your mom’s first, mate” Harry waved at YN before he grabbed Jared’s hand. YN stood by the door as she watched leave, she had so many questions now, she didn’t want to be rude but she was really curious now.
“Mummy’s not home” Jensen said as he jumped, he had just started a game himself trying to not step on the lines on the floor.
Harry rose his eyebrows down at the kid “Why not? Where did she go?”
Jensen slipped but Harry lift his little arm before he could hit the ground “careful son!”
“She went out with Bryan in the morning” Jensen continued jumping and Jared decided he wanted to play too, Harry tried his best to keep his balance as they approach the car “Did they took Lily with them? What about your brothers?” Harry asked concerned as he lifted the boys to get them in their car seats safely, Jensen shrugged his little shoulders “dunno”.
“Lily is with nana, I heard that.” Jared said
Harry sighed heavily as he buckled his seatbelt starting the car “alright, then let´s go to see Granny Anne and then we go home”. The twins agreed and sang along with Harry to “you’ve got a friend in me” in the ride to Anne’s house.
----
YN is sitting in front of her computer in bed with her glasses on, she tried to concentrate on her work but she just couldn’t stop thinking about Harry and the twins and all the kids he name, where they his? How old was he? He looks almost her age…20ish. Why was he so upset?. She has to get him off her head, he has a baby…Lily, did she look like him? How old was she? Were kevin and Thomson twins too?.  She has to keep her distance; she can’t have a crush on him. She shakes her head again, she needs to focus and send her results to the principal.
---
After some minutes they finally arrived, Harry helped his kids down and they ran excited to the door which Anne opened happily as she heard them screaming, she had been waiting by the window, she just missed her grandsons too much.
“Hey pumpkings! How are you? How was school?” she asks as she rubs their backs, the twins hugging her legs tightly.
“It was fun! Our teacher is very pretty!” Jensen says shily batting his eyelashes.
“Jensen likes her” Jared said giggling, Anne looks up at Harry “Oh! Really what do you think Harry?”
Harry laughs shaking his head “She is very nice, mom”
“Hmm, I see, come in” she says smiling, Jared and Jensen leave their bags by the door and kneel as they look for their granny’s kitty. “Harry, you look a bit stressed. Is everything okay? Was work hard today?”
Harry follows his mom into the kitchen sighing again “Thomson hurt Jared, they said it was an accident, I wanted to talk to Nala about it but she went out with her boyfriend apparently and! Left the baby with her mom… or his mom, I don’t know. She knew the twins will stay with me for a few days and she just decided she needs a break” he is raising his voice, Anne rubs his arm to calm him down “I want full custody of my kids, I’m taking this to court”.
“I hope you get full custody of them, honey but it’s not easy.” She looks sadly at him before she gets the plates out to serve dinner.
“I know… Jared! Jensen! Wash your hands, it’s time for dinner” harry calls them from the kitchen, they can hear the twins giggling in the livingroom “ 1! “ Harry started counting, Anne just laughs lightly “2! Jared, Jensen..” he warns.
“Harry, They are not your students, you are not a teacher in the house” Anne reminds him and the twins come running into the dining room laughing and drying their little hands in their clothes.
Anne sets their plates with spaghetti and meatballs in front of them before she takes her seat by Harry’s side.
“These are worms, and these are dino eggs!” Jared says pointing at the spaghetti and Jensen laughs digging his teeth in the meatball
“Baby, don’t play with the food” Harry says softly chuckling some, they are just kids after all he thinks
“And what are you two?” Anee asks taking her for to her lips
“T-rex! Grr” says Jensen taking another bite of meatball getting crumbs of meat on his cheeks, Harry just laughs, Jared has orange cheeks from the spaghetti

The Rebels: Epilogue
Marx paced frantically in circles in an open field. Not nervous. TOTALLY NOT NERVOUS. NOT AT ALL. Everyone was saying that that oaf of a King had run off in a hurry to save his Knight in shining armor. All because that lime-sucking old man Meta Knight was in danger from a quest HE went on. TO HIS OWN PLANET, NO LESS, of all the stupidity! The King had temporarily put that dopey anxious meatball of a snail in charge while he left, which helped NOTHING. Every time the snail sighed, Marx wanted to poke him in the snout. What did he have to be tired about, anyways? Kirby said he’d be back soon but he was still gone and it’s been forEVER. Well- Ok, maybe not forever. But it still felt like it! It was so dreadfully insufferably BORING. THIS HAS BEEN A STUPID WEEK AND I HATE EVERYTHING. Marx kicked a pebble furiously. AARGH. Kirby told Marx- Well, everyone, actually- that he was going to meet his parents. Marx remembered it perfectly- especially how Kirby smiled at him and made him believe everything was going to be fine and ARGH SHUT UP, THOUGHTS! He wasn’t bored because Kirby was gone! The world just got boring as soon as he left! Yeah, that was TOTALLY ABSOLUTEY THE REASON. NOTHING ELSE. He’d almost had a heart attack when he heard there was danger- Because Kirby could be in danger! Meta Knight can go die in a ditch for all I care! Marx hoped Kirby would come back in one piece- He’d BETTER come back in one piece or I WILL SERIOUSLY DESTROY SOMETHING. I will PUNCH A HOLE IN THE MOON AND RIP THE SUN IN TWO. Then Marx heard something. A low humming noise. He flicked his ear, annoyed. Ugh, WHY DO I HAVE TO BE HEARING THINGS NOW? He whirled around to continue pacing when something shiny caught his eye in the sky. It was the Halberd. And that could only mean one thing... Kirby! He’s back! Hopefully maybe fully intact! Oh, and also Meta Knight, which was always a pain, but! Kirby! He thought, making his chest do that weird thumpy thing again. Marx launched himself into the air, doing a happy little backflip, then glided towards the Halberd. He hovered in the air for a while, watching to see where the Halberd was landing, then landing softly in a patch of grass in front of the airship’s door, waiting eagerly like a kid about to be served ice cream. And, surely enough, standing in the door was a pink ball of warmth, smiling brighter than the sun itself. Without a sliver of a thought in his head, Marx bounded to him as fast as lightning and scooped up Kirby in his claws. “You were gone forever! If you were away for even a SECOND longer I would have SERIOUSLY lost it!” He cried, trying to sound furious. But it didn’t work. His stomach was doing summersaults and it was so Aggravating! “Aw, Did you miss me? Was it so painstakingly awfully terribly lonely without me?” Kirby said teasingly, in a dramatic tone. Marx pulled away from him, suddenly feeling stupid, AS HE SHOULD. “Nope! No! Nuh-uh! TOTALLY no! I was 100% ABSOLUTELY FINE without you, thank you very much!” He said defensively, trying to make himself look and sound angry. But couldn’t. I am VERY ANGRY. At YOU! YES, GRR, VERY ANGRY AT KIRBY! Even when he tried to makes his thoughts angry it didn’t work. Which, first of all, was RIDICULOUS. He was Marx! He could be mad whenever he wanted to be mad! And secondly, it was, like, PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE to be mad right now! He felt less angry and more like flying high into the skies and touching the moon. Gross dumb sappy feelings! YUCK! “I’m fine! THE FINEST I’VE EVER BEEN, actually!” He said. He could tell his efforts of looking infuriated were failing from the look on Kirby’s face- Which was trying not to laugh. “Hey! Don’t laugh at me! Nobody is allowed to laugh at me! Unless I want them to!” He added, remembering he was, in fact, a jester. This only caused Kirby to begin giggling warmly into his wing, and now his own face was threatening to melt into a dopey grin. It was SO WEIRD. Then a flash of orange darted past him- Then pink. And then red, green, blue, and before Marx could react, he was surrounded by a sea of rainbow- Wings of all different sizes, shapes and colors were all around him, and it was almost disorienting. Marx’s mouth flapped open and shut several times as his head swiveled around in confusion. WHAT. IS. HAPPENING? He didn’t know what to say. He didn’t even know what to think- as if he’d forgotten how to. Why do they all look Meta-Knight-shaped? Are they planning to invade and OH MY STARS THEY’RE EVERYWHERE. Finally, his attention snapped back to Kirby, who was still in front of him. He looked at him with whatever dumbfounded expression he was wearing, since he couldn’t find the words to ask the millions of questions overloading his brain. Kirby just shrugged and shot him a tired look of ‘sorry’ before his face became concerned. He looked into his eyes. “Marx? Are you ok?” He asked in the most gentle, caring, and soft voice anyone’s ever heard. NO I AM NOT I’M SURROUNDED BY HUNDREDS OF STRANGERS FROM SOME FARAWAY PLANET I DON’T KNOW! He screamed internally. But he said nothing. Suddenly, Kirby pulled him into a kind embrace. Only then did Marx realize he was hyperventilating and shaking. “Hey, relax... Deep breaths, remember?” Kirby reminded him patiently in a tone a teacher would use when explaining 2 plus 2 is always 4. Marx’s muscles relaxed. He hadn’t even realized they were tensed in the first place. “Just breathe...” If this were anyone else, Marx would have shoved them off for trying to tell him what to do. But he just couldn’t do that with Kirby. He’d said it in such a way, Marx wanted to listen to him. So he breathed... When Marx opened his eyes (He didn’t even notice he’d closed them in the first place) He was still there- and so were the dozens of other people. Ok, so maybe this isn’t just a dream. But Kirby was still here, with him, holding him. It was like all the fears he didn’t know he had had vanished into mist, an all he could think about was how he felt right now, with not a worry of the future to interrupt this perfect moment. His breathing and heartbeat slowed as he relaxed, and he embraced the otherwise obnoxious fluttery feeling in his chest. He bathed in this warm feeling, until he noticed Meta Knight, standing in the entrance to the Halberd along with the King and another person who looked ALARMINGLY SIMILAR to him, but just two shades of blue lighter, his piercing yellow gaze fixed on Marx, who was still being held by Kirby. Somehow, the old toad always found a way to interrupt his moments of pure bliss. Oh well. He’d just have to deal with it. Meta Knight can go kiss a cactus.

MASTERLIST
1 . 2 . 3 . 4 . 5 . 6 . 7 . 8
Once again, you entered your apartment in silence, except the few times Baekhyun let out a tired, exasperated sigh. Your phone was blowing up with messages from your boss; honestly, you didn't understand why was he even trying to contact you after everything that happened. By now you knew you wouldn't be able to save your work spot. Not after what Baekhyun did. And here you were, worrying about not telling your darn boss about your pregnancy.
In the safety of your apartment full of love, you were able to feel. The hotness of emotions was coming back to your bloodstream, the numbness from throwing up and the adrenaline of the fight -it was all palpable in fading touches.
This time, it was you who let out a tired sigh, but you felt the burn behind your eyes yet again as you made your way to the bedroom to collect some clean clothes before making a beeline for the bathroom, ignoring Baekhyun's angry expression as you passed by him.
Before you could close the door, he murmured your name in a warning.
“What.”
“You know we need to talk, right?” he snapped, turning to you. He spotted your bloodshot eyes, full of unshed tears and he assumed you weren't seeing him properly. He was right.
You saw him blurry like a modern art painting. Pretty, yet so… unreadable, almost worrying at how you couldn't see to the depths of it. “I know.”
At your terse answer, he clenched his jaw and you blinked, letting the tears roll down your cheeks just to see the tick in his jaw, the set of his chin almost scary. “Go,” he sighed, pushing his hands into the pockets of his dress trousers. “We will talk once you're out of there.”
Without waiting for your response, he turned abruptly but to your surprise, he reached for the front door, swinging it open. You closed your eyes just in time for it to slam shut. And he was gone.
-
Quietly, you took a long shower, thinking he wouldn't be back until… well, until he deemed good to be back. Which could be whenever.
Honestly speaking, you never had such a big, troubling fight before. Never. Yes, you did fight, but he never left you. Not at that hour, anyway. And you were also never pregnant. So this was one of a kind problem you found yourself in, and as you tried not to sob through your entire shower, your mind instead stormed through options you had with what happened.
Except, you had none.
You were out of job.
Your boyfriend, a hapkido master, used violence on your boss.
Your boyfriend could be reported.
You lied to your boyfriend.
Your boyfriend… was mad at you. Livid.
Was this the end of your relationship?
No.
He wouldn't let go of you that easily, and the realisation of that made you sob right then and there. The relationship you two shared was stronger than any of your doubts that were scaring you; it was stronger than any bad word, any bad action, because you two were more than that and your connection was stronger than that. As much as it hurt you that he left without telling you, you knew him well enough to know he would be coming back to you. You knew he would forgive you and he wouldn't break up with you. Not when you were carrying his children. Baekhyun was much, much more than an angry emotion and a protective action.
And you were pregnant with him.
Three kids. Three.
“Fuck,” you sighed as you closed your eyes under the hot water, wanting it to drown out all of  your intruding thoughts.
If there was an issue you two genuinely had to worry about, it was how you would feed them and yourselves. Would you even survive bearing three children till the end? Would you survive giving birth? You were way past the first trimester which meant you were over the dangerous period, but you knew better than that. Bearing one child was a constant risk. Three? Definitely playing with fire.
Not wanting to create a huge water bill, you reluctantly turned off the shower even though your body screamed for more. Tired and aching, you dried yourself up, not bothering to put on a lotion; smells had been playing with your stomach too much and you literally despised and hated the constant throwing up game.
It was just ten minutes after your shower; you were lying in the bed, tucked in and ready to call it a day, when Baekhyun came back. His timing was perfect and it meant he didn't wander off in the dark streets to let his frustrations out. He probably went for a short walk.
Some shuffling later, he appeared in the doorway, the small lamp next to the mattress you were lying on gently illuminating your tired self. You didn't dare to look at your boyfriend, but you knew you had to do it. He was expecting you to. He was not in the place to beg for forgiveness now. If it was anyone, it was you.
Sighing, you pressed your lips together as you sat up slowly, looking him dead in the eyes; those dark eyes that had still some leftover heavy showers in them.
“Baekhyun,” you started and he kept your gaze daringly, leaning against the doorframe. When he didn't speak, you pursed your lips. “I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I should have told you.”
Silence.
“I will need more than that.” Was his cold answer.
“Don't you want to sit down?”
He was quiet for a moment, but then he crossed his arms. You knew better than to test him. When it came to irrational stuff you did, he was using the “I'm older” type of power against you, and you couldn't argue with that. “What did he make you sign?”
Once again, it was quiet. He was burning you with his scorching gaze, and you felt your cheeks heat up in complete embarrassment and self-loathing. But you needed to be honest. “I-I'm not sure if it was in the contract,” you started, trying not to stutter, “but he made me… Ehm, I was not supposed to fall pregnant. In exchange of him promoting me at work.”
As expected, Baekhyun let nothing to be read from his face. “Did you sign the contract and not read what it said?”
Please, make this stop. “Yes. But I really didn't think that-t-that-”
He spoke your name, cold and harsh, obviously upset. “You didn't think what?! Just how irresponsible it is not to read the conditions of a piece of fucking paper that can be used against you, huh?!”
Slowly, you tried to breathe. This was necessary. He had to let it out.
“You could have signed him owning you for all I know! Fucking hell,” he sighed, now running his hand through his hair wildly, turning away from you for a moment before sharply turning back, startling you. “And you just wanted to do it because what- you wanted more money? Is it all about money for you?! Since when did you become so fucking materialistic that you would stand in your own damn dreams!!!”
Tears, tears, tears, and he was completely right. Opening your mouth, he snapped.
“No, don't speak! I don't want to hear it right now! Fuck,” he murmured, and paced in front of you, his jaw set strong. “You weren't even pregnant when it all happened, why would you want to get to more money so badly?!”
“I wanted to provide for us as well!” you shouted back now, but your voice was so shaky you felt like you sounded pathetic. He had to know, though. “We are coming from a low-class background, Baekhyun! Why is it so bad for me to want to do more when I am perfectly able to do so?”
“Because you would have ruined your own dreams while chasing something so artificial!” he shouted back, stepping closer to where you were sitting, but you didn't budge from the sudden movement. “Money was, and money will be! But us creating a family together won't be a forever opportunity! And you were willing to just hang it up for, what, 300.000 won more? Don't be ridiculous! Plus! He is a fucking arsehole! If he isn't touching you up, he is treating you like complete shit; you deserve better than any of this! And if I could have, I would have beaten him up long ago.”
You averted his gaze. His words were driven by his love for you, you knew that much. So as much as you wanted to be offended and hurt, he was hundred percent right. Everything he just threw into your face was correct and you couldn't defend yourself, because he would come at you right away.
“Is this really everything our relationship means to you?” he asked, a bit more quietly, but his tired tone was scarring your heart. You dared to look back at him, to see him staring on the ground, one hand on his hip.
“No,” you said and you cried again, “it isn't and you know it, too.”
“Do you think I am incapable of taking care of us? Of the kids?” he looked at you, huge puppy eyes on full display as he slowly let his guard down. “Because all of this just proves you don't trust me as the breadwinner of this household.”
You bit your lip, trying to suppress your arguments, but ended up going against it. “Baekhyun, we aren't in a situation where I need to stay home, clean and do nothing while you get to earn money as if it was some easy thing to do. I am, and I will continue to work,” you replied resolutely despised tears rolling down your cheeks, “and it isn't you as a breadwinner, but us.”
The society surely was patriarchal, so if you dared to talk to your father in this manner, he would have slapped you. There was no such thing as a woman who got to go against her husband or brother.
Baekhyun, however, wasn't your father or your brother. He wasn't even your husband, and when you saw his troubled look, he finally let himself sink down on the mattress. He was your kind, loving boyfriend. “I already said this,” he started, “but I am not, and I won't keep you inside the house, locked up, while waiting for me to return to you after work. I won't tell you what to do, you know I never did,” he said in a more friendly manner, but it still beared authority. “I respect you as a woman,” he said, speaking your name softly, “and you are my everything.” His hand reached out to caress your cheek that was still wet from your tears. “I need to see you only smiling, happily, but I cannot accept you lying to me like this again. I thought we had been together long enough for us to earn each other's trust, and you going like that behind my back and signing bullshit was nothing but stupid and irresponsible. Especially because your pregnancy was jeopardized like that. You can't be under stress like that, sweetie.”
Hearing him calling you a pet name, you knew the war was over and he finally was on the positive side. His authoritative voice still kept you on edge, so you didn't throw yourself at him just yet.
“If he kicked you out, which I'm pretty much convinced he did, I wouldn't be against you not working until you give birth.”
“Baekhy-”
“Shh, let me speak, honey,” he said quietly and shuffled himself closer, sitting right opposite you cross-legged  as he took your hands in his. “Listen. I know you know it, but having three babies under your heart is a dangerous situation,” he whispered loudly, bringing your intertwined hands to his lips. “It's dangerous especially for you. You are very tired after work, and you come home late and don't get enough rest. Sukyeong even told me you don't always keep up with your meals, and I don't like it one bit.” The way his lips moved against the skin of your hand was soothing you. “Accept that he threw you out, before I file a lawsuit against him for harassing you and making you sign nonsense contracts, and stay home. Find a part-time job instead, but you need to rest, darling.”
“Baekhyun,” you finally spoke and he hummed, as he let your hands fall to his lap. His eyes were now so gentle and full of worry. “I am so sorry. For everything. I shouldn't have done any of that, but please know I did it with good intentions.”
Baekhyun went silent for a bit, analysing your face, your tired features and pale skin, which only reminded him you had been throwing up today and dealing with the situation in the restaurant. Suddenly, he felt so guilty for making you go through all of it in just one evening, (although you were responsible for it, too). Let alone he just shouted at you for good ten minutes. He couldn't even imagine what other things you must have been feeling the past weeks, given how your body was changing day by day. “It's alright, babe, it's alright. I understand. C'mere,” he whispered, opening his arms and you threw yourself at him, making him almost fall back on his back. You snuggled your face into his neck, and he let out a satisfied breath, caressing your back gently. “I'm sorry for shouting at you. But I'm not sorry for punching that idiot. He deserved it.”
You were looking at the skin on his neck and how it disappeared under his shirt that had the first two buttons undone. “Thank you for standing up for me, honey.”
“My baby,” he murmured lovingly into your hair before he gave it a kiss. “My only baby.”
-
You woke up to slow, gentle caresses on your small belly as your shirt was ridden up just a tiny bit, Baekhyun not wanting to wake you just yet. He was behind you, wanting to spoon you as soon as he washed up and fell in bed next to you last night. It didn't take long for both of you to fall asleep, as surprising as that was. The events tired you out, and he wanted you to sleep as much as you could.
He kissed your clothed shoulder before he nosed your neck and buried his face in your hair, while his caresses didn't stop. Letting his eyes close for a moment, he brought his front just a little closer to you, his leg wrapping around yours that were politely connected. His hand absentmindedly wandered further up before going dangerously low, sending shots of pleasure down your core without even paying attention. You knew he would soon realize his effect on you, because you definitely felt like squirming in his hold.
His hand lazily dragged upwards almost touching the underside of your breast when you couldn't keep it in anymore, breathing in sharply just for his hand to stop right under the-
“Oh, I finally have you awake,” he murmured, his husky voice sending another set of chills down your spine.
You couldn't help but smile, happy you woke up to this. The fluid down there was saying something else, though.
“Slept well?” he murmured into your ear, as he continued dragging his hand up. You groaned softly when he groped your breast as he pushed himself even more into you, and you felt it. He was so ready for you.
“Mhm,” you hummed in agreement, enjoying the massage as he proceeded to nibble on your ear from behind, your eyes closed in pleasure. “You?”
“I realised we didn't keep our promise, babygirl.”
Your breath hitched in your throat when your realised what he was implying.
“So, is my beautiful lady still horny enough to go the remaining two rounds?” His voice was so deep, you felt yourself scrunching your eyes shut, the adrenaline quickly making its way into your bloodstream. “We will take it,” he murmured and this time his hand was going down, down, down, the panties the only barrier from his wandering hand as he lifted the hem of them teasingly, testing just how ready you were for him, “very slowly, my dear.”
His fingers played with you just for few seconds before he pushed his middle finger inside, your mouth opening in a silent moan as you leaned back into him.
“It's so early, but you are already like this,” he continued while your head was swimming, his ministrations nothing short of slow, yet so pleasurable, “all for me.”
Your insides were squeezing painfully, and he wasn't moving faster, nor did he have the intentions. “Baekhyun,” you said, trying not to pant too loudly, “I just want you.”
“Hmm? Speak louder, I'm still sleepy.”
“You're such a tease,” you whispered in disbelief before surprising him by reaching behind you to touch him exactly where he needed you. He hissed, his eyes looking at your profile to see the smirk you had on your face.
“I wanted it to be slow, romantic and all of that,” he mumbled before pushing your hand away while he sat up, causing you to fall on your back. As soon as his hand was out of your panties, you felt a pang of frustration before he covered your body with his, his face close to yours as you tried to calm down from him fingering you so sensually.
“I want none of that,” you replied as you grabbed his face for a heated kiss, “I want you inside me, just about now.”
“Needy, naughty…” he muttered with a flirty smirk as he teased you at your opening, causing both of you to groan. “Are you ready, sweetie?” And he still made sure you were okay with him.
“I'm always ready for you,” you whispered, spreading your legs even more for him, as he pushed himself in, your eyes instantly closing in wonderful pleasure only he was able to give you.
He stayed inside, buried and panting into your hot mouth as he rested his forehead on yours. “Sweetheart, open your eyes for me, hm? I love you, you know that?”
“I know that. And I love you, do you know that?” you reciprocated, smiling up at him only to be rewarded with his smiley eyes as he pushed back before diving right in few more times, where he hit your sweet spot. Moaning loudly, he dragged his face to suck on your neck before he took one of your hands, intertwining them with his as he pushed it up above your head.
“I know that. You are my angel,” he said, finishing it with a guttural groan as he felt you pulsing around him, knowing you were about to cross the edge and he was not far behind you.  “Come for me. We have another round,” he breathed before kissing you passionately, messily, moanily.
You mentioned you wanted none of slow. And in the second round, he gave you just that. Baekhyun became ruthless, just before whispering: “Are you riding?” And he was fast to change positions. He helped you straddle him although you definitely had the energy to move and climb by yourself, given your crazy hormonal drive.
“That was just a warm-up session.” He warned, not waiting for you. Your screams, his groans, the heat, it was all so fucking amazing you were left in a complete bliss. You were fast to catch up to him, moving your hips while he was watching from beneath you, eyes dark, glazed over and completely smitten by you.
“You're the best,” you breathed out as you dragged your hands to you breasts, but Baekhyun wanted none of that. He swiftly sat up, his chest almost pressed to yours while you continuously rode him, up and down,  your hands being pushed aside just to be switched with his as he added his sinful lips to the swell of your breasts.
“You're a goddess, mummy,” he muttered, leaving a wet trail on your chest while his hands squeezed and massaged your mounds.
“Baekhyun!” you scolded, and despite the sweat and the delightful pull in your belly approaching yet again, you blushed; the blush definitely caused by his choice of words.
He looked into your eyes, his ones proud and lustful. “It's true,” he muttered, groaning as you sank down exceptionally hard, almost falling onto his sturdy chest. His hands were now squeezing your sides, helping you out, unable to keep the needy touches to himself when you looked so gorgeous like that. He squeezed your arching body to his sweaty chest.
A quick glance at your swollen belly that he made sure you noticed, his hand came to touch against it and you were gone. He caressed you there gently while swallowing your moans as you grabbed his face, kissing him, your hair falling, creating an intimate curtain just around where your mouths were connected. You still had an unearthly energy to help your boyfriend out to his orgasm, not wanting to be in the ecstasy alone, and as much as Baekhyun needed the release, his hands slid across your sides, holding your hips to stop their movement.
“Enough, baby girl,” he whispered into your mouth, leaning back ever so slightly to see your flushed cheeks, sweaty forehead. “I don't want you to hurt yourself.” He was still panting and you swore to god he looked so handsome with his hair glued to his forehead, puffy cheeks. You might have gotten horny again.
“Come with me,” you insisted, attempting to to move again but he bit his lip, a cheeky glint in his eyes, and he held your back tenderly, moving you to lie on your back, while slipping out of you. Hissing, he stood up quickly.
“I'll be right back.”
Trying to calm your breath, you closed your eyes, enjoying the feeling in your aching body. A knowing smile played on your lips; Baekhyun would rather get a cold shower then another orgasm from you, just because he was worried about you. If that wasn't some darn good self-control, you didn't know what it could be.
Just as he promised, he was back soon, a towel in his hands to help you clean up. Once done, he lied back down next to you and you immediately curled up by his chest. “That was amazing.”
“Hmm, you are amazing,” he said. After a little pause, he asked: “You feeling alright?”
“Perfect. But I could go again, you know? You don't have to be so careful with me.”
He snorted as he played with the ends of your hair. “Jeez, you already have my baby! Actually three of them! Slow down, woman.”
You both laughed heartily, and he loved the sound.
“But I want to have youuu, my love,” you whined.
“You have me. You always have me. I'm yours. I'm just simply yours.”
A/N: just to clarify, this isnt the end, we still have quite some things to get through actually - more drama ㅠㅠ! Just didnt want to leave you on a cliffhanger. Hope you liked this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it! Any feedback is very much appreciated  🥺 🥺

My Official Dream SMPsona: Flower
(I heard some of you guys wanted to see this, and this was pretty fun to make. Ask box is open, I’d love to talk about her more. I’ll have to work at drawing her later this week, so be on the lookout for that! Anyway, hope you enjoy! - Minty)
------------------------------
Name: Flower
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Straight Demisexual
Joined: September 22, 2020
Current Cannon Lives: 2/3
Alignment: Neutral Good
Fighting: Only skilled with a bow/crossbow, otherwise is absolutely terrible at PVP.
Look: Short brown hair, dark blue eyes, pale skin, black framed glasses, dark blue sweatshirt with black leggings and blue sneakers. Either wearing a light pink flower crown or a random flower in her hair.
-------------------------------
Quotes:
“I am NOT weak! Don’t you ever DARE call me weak!”
“You know what they say, Tubbo: Tomorrow is always another day, and it’ll probably be a better one.”
“I help because… because… because I want to. I need to. So many people are hurting, and I… I just didn’t want to add to that. If so much bad happened, we need a little good to balance, don’t we?”
“My name is Flower and I speak for the trees!”
“These are my cat babies, hurt them and you die.”
“STOP! Just… just stop, stop it please, I...I dunno what to choose, I don’t… I don’t want to choose, don’t MAKE me choose!”
“You deserve a grave, Ghostbur. Everyone deserves to be remembered, no matter what. It’s not about what they did while they were alive, they were people. They deserve to be remembered as a person. A person who tried.”
“You know Philza Minecraft, you’re pretty cool.”
-----------------------------------
Fun Facts / Headcanons:
Extremely Indecisive, especially when it comes to joining a group because she doesn’t want to hurt any of her friends. She always wants to make the right decision, but as the choices turn more grey she can get stressed and put pressure on herself, always worried about doing something wrong that sometimes she’ll go into a full panic attack. This can lead to frustration when she seems to just be helping all of them instead of just choosing one.
Always ready to help and lend materials to others whenever they need.
Has a cat named Rose and another named Lavender, is self-proclaimed ‘Cat-Mom’.
Loves giving gifts to anyone at any time for whatever reason - she loves making others happy, as well as giving others something to remember her by when she’s gone.
Made the land around her house a nature preserve and went to court over the matter when someone chopped down her birch tree.
Has a book full of inspirational quotes that she sometimes uses in conversation.
Is often called “weak” for her PvP skills by Schlatt, Dream, and a few times even Techno, which got under her skin all too quickly, leading her to desperately try to constantly prove them wrong, getting angry and upset when it doesn’t work. This leads to many of them picking on her and pushing her around since she can’t exactly fight back.
Always sees the good in everyone, even some of the darkest villains, which many say is naive. She sees people like Wilbur, Schlatt, Dream - as people hurting and in need of help. Of course, she doesn’t try to excuse what they’ve done, but she doesn’t like when people call them evil or monsters, because to her they’re not. Everyone has good inside of them, they’ve just lost that part of themselves, even ignoring it.
She lives by the golden rule and didn’t like when people celebrated Schlatt’s death or Tommy’s and made no gravestone for Wilbur. Treat people the way you want to be treated - do you want people to celebrate your death, or to never memorialize you or even give you a proper burial?
When her friends and allies turn against her, she’s never mad at them. Just disappointed in what they let themselves become, and holds no ill-will toward any of them.
After the Manburg v Pogtopia War, seeing all the heartbreak, destruction, and hurt that was caused she committed herself to spread a bit of happiness around, to bring it all back to balance and help people recover - planting flowers around New L’manburg, helping Phil settle in as well as helping to rebuild.
She grows closer with Phil and Tubbo during this time - Phil appreciated her kind spirit and help, which he said he’d repay tenfold, and Tubbo liked her support and help to rebuild, especially when he was forced to exile Tommy, she reminded her Dream put them in a tough spot, that there wasn’t much of a choice.
She turned her protected lands into a healing garden and invited any who needed it to visit - she added a bench swing and a small pond.
She once followed Phil to find Techno, and the two panicked, Technoblade almost killing her before Phil stepped in, vouching for her. She promised not to say anything if it would put them more at ease. When questioned by Technoblade on her intentions, her answer was pretty simple: “Look, I don’t really understand why you did what you did. You hurt a lot of people and caused a lot of pain. But I don’t feel like it’s my place to judge you, I don’t know the story and I don’t think it’s my story to know. I’m glad you’re okay, Technoblade.”
When she goes against the Butcher Army, Quackity pushes her around, asking what she thinks she’s going to do against four people with netherite armor and axes. She tries to fight but as always she gets beat up pretty badly. Finally, she just turns to look at Tubbo. “Look at what you’re doing, Tubbo. Please, this isn’t the way.” When they go toward Phil, she steps in front to protect him as the tensions rise and she loses a cannon life by Quackity after he gets so mad at her protests he snaps and gets rid of her.
After he escapes she goes to meet Technoblade in secret, asking for training. She realized that if she was going to do any good, she needed to get stronger. They make a deal for him to train her, but in return, she’ll have to be his eyes in New L’manburg in order to help out Phil. She agrees.
She continues to train as the days pass and eventually she helps Phil escape and get back to the safety of Techno’s house. The training continues when Techno has the time.
When both her teacher and her close friend side with Dream to destroy her home, she tells them that she won’t stop them or betray them, but she needed to protect her home, that her friends needed her. When Technoblade insisted that this was a betrayal, she reminded him that it wasn’t, that for the longest time she supported him and helped him even though she didn’t always agree with him, and now she’s asking that he does the same. She gives them some gapples and a couple of potions. “I’ll see you both on the other side. I’m sorry. Just… be careful, and do what you have to do.”
She moves her stuff just in case, knowing her friends, and cries with the others over the destruction of her home. When Phil finds her after, wanting to talk after his interaction with Ghostbur, she tells him that it isn’t the best time right now, trying to force a smile. “Hey, look - I’m happy for you, Phil. I’m happy that you succeeded, I just need a bit more than a minute, okay? We’ll talk tomorrow.”
She gives both Tubbo and Tommy on the Final Confrontation Day each a cookie and wishes them the best of luck, and was there, willing to risk another life to protect Tommy and Tubbo and stop Dream from causing more hurt and destruction than he already has.

First try
Year 2
It was the second Valentine's Day after the beginning of the Age of Anarchy, and the capacity that the human being had to adapt themselves to the most terrible of conditions never ceased to amaze him. The economy had collapsed, the government had fallen, his school was practically one of the last ones still in open, and there was a “fucking junkie” ruling the city...
But the world celebrated Valentine's Day anyway.
Or at least in his class did.
The teacher had brought a bunch of cardboard boxes, that looked like she had fought with some tramps to get them (which she probably did, they were too many boxes for one person to generate) (unless she was a crazy person who collected boxes). She gave one to each one of her students, took out the last bottles of paint, pieces of colored cardboard, and rusty scissors, and then told them that today they were going to learn how to make a mailbox.
At first, Hugh had no idea what turning a box into a mailbox had to do with the curriculum the school was supposed to follow. It's not like people sent a lot of letters anyway. But when the girls got excited, he remembered that February 14 was something like an important date. And then, he remembered an activity that they did during his first year, when everyone decorated a box for their classmates to put letters and sweets in it.
First year… And now he was in his third year.
Time flies by.
After telling them which parts to cut into (Hugh had to share his scissors with other three classmates because there weren't enough for everyone), she invited them to pick the decorations they wanted to put on their mailboxes. The girls pounced on the pink, red, and even white paint, while most of the boys laughed, saying it was a stupid activity and they didn't want to do it. Hugh felt the urge to agree, but he didn't
He had already tried to make them like him. It hadn't worked for him.
So he grabbed a bottle of navy blue paint, some cartoon bear stickers, some notebook paper, and a bitten pencil. That would be enough to make his mailbox and his cards.
After a while, he started to have a good time. Crafts had never been his strong suit, but he was proud of how it ended up looking. One couldn’t tell his mailbox used to be a cereal box because the paint he used was so dark, that it only needed two coats of it and it dried much faster than Abernathy’s, who had practically finished the pink paint trying to hide the face of that missing child in the milk carton box the teacher gave to her. Hugh realized that she was holding her tears back, and as the good classmate that he was, he told her not to worry, that the missing child could be decoration if she painted him a mustache or something, and it would look very funny. Abernathy, far from finding it funny, acted super offended, assuring she had never met a child as rude and insensitive as Hugh Everhart, and she ran out of the classroom, hiding her face in her hands and screaming like a baby.
Unfortunately, the rest of his class agreed with her, and when it came time to deliver the cards, Hugh did not receive a single one. Although he doubted it had anything to do with that missing boy thing.
They wouldn't have given him anything anyway.
He wasn't sure if they knew he was a prodigy. Maybe they had noticed that it wasn't normal that Hugh had practically broken a chair in two when he placed his backpack on it to get something out, or that he had left the PE teacher unconscious when he accidentally threw a ball at his face while they were playing soccer. The teachers, if they noticed, didn't say anything. After all, that school was supposed to be only for normal kids.
Not prodigies.
But children could be very insightful. Most likely, they did notice and therefore did not want to be associate with him.
Or maybe—
Maybe they just didn't want to hang out with Hugh, because of… that.
Because he was Hugh.
He decided to wait for everyone else to leave before starting to cry (or before breaking another chair, whichever came first). Or at least that was what he was about to do when he heard that someone had come up with the same idea as him and started crying first.
Simon Westwood had never been too talkative. Even before his older sister and mother died, he liked to sit at the last table, not speaking to anyone, and some older kids were constantly picking on him, without any teacher trying to do anything to stop them.
Not that Hugh was paying much attention to him or something.
The teacher practically ran to see what was going on with Simon Westwood, asking him what happened and why hadn’t he finished decorating his mailbox. Simon Westwood tried to explain it to her, but he was mumbling his words so neither the teacher nor Hugh could understand what he was saying.
Hugh didn’t get mad with him though. His mom had died. His sister died too, a couple of weeks later. He wouldn’t be in the mood for doing cheesy crafts if the same had happened to him. But the teacher wasn’t as benevolent as him, and started to say things like she was trying really hard to bring joy to her students, and that she was sure that if he tried a little bit harder, he would be able to enjoy Valentine’s Day, like the rest of them.
“Let’s see what nice things your classmates have said about you,” she exclaimed. But that only made Simon Westwood start crying again.
No one had given him a card.
Like… no one.
And Hugh was listening to all of this conversation, just sitting there, trying to stay as stiff as he could so they wouldn’t notice he was there (as if he weren’t literally right in front of them). Seeing Simon cried like that made him think that maybe he was just acting though when the other kids laugh at him because of his looks, his ratty old clothes (older and rattier than theirs), or just—
His mind exploded.
He suddenly understood why the other kids didn't like Simon Westwood. It was before he was him.
Just like how they didn’t like Hugh Everhart because he was Hugh Everhart.
When the teacher went out of the classroom with Simon, saying something about calling his dad (although he knew they wouldn’t be able to do that, since no one had a functioning phone those days), he took one of the cards he did for his classmates, cards that he never gave to them, and put one inside Simon Westwood’s mailbox/cereal box. He had left his backpack and his things there. When he came back to take them home, he would see the card too.
A voice in his head told him to get out of there before he came back, but another one told him to stay. Maybe Simon Westwood and he could be friends. Maybe he would understand what it felt like to be hated just for the way you were born. Maybe he was a prodigy too.
Or maybe he wasn’t.
He couldn’t take that chance.
So Hugh went home, but promised Simon Westwood (and himself) he would keep an eye on him.
After all, friends were there to have each other’s back.
Because they were friends, even if Simon didn't know it yet.
Second try
Year 9
They were friends.
He had never seen Hugh before meeting him on that alley where Simon got his powers. Like— he had seen him because he was in the same class as him, but he hadn't really seen him. During his childhood years, Simon was more focused on other things. Like being a little depressed and anxious ball with skinny legs and skinny arms, for example.
It wasn’t like he wasn’t depressed or anxious now. Nor it was he had gotten super muscular all of the sudden, like Hugh (he had always been bigger than the other kids, but he practically turned twelve and already looked like a teenager, except for the voice and the face).
But at that moment, he wasn’t depressed or anxious. He felt weirdly at peace.
He and Hugh were walking down the street, thinking about which store were they going to rob that day to get dinner for them and their families, when Simon noticed a couple holding hands in front of an abandoned café. She had dark hair and he had blue eyes, which looked at his girlfriend as if she was the Virgin Mary or something. Then, she kissed him and gave him a small blue flower and a heart-shaped card. The guy looked so moved by the gesture that he kissed her on the lips again, with so much more passion than before.
Simon looked away before they realized he was looking at them, not only because he didn’t want to come off as creepy, but also because he knew how awkward he would feel if they started to make out or something.
“Love is in the air,” Hugh sang.
Simon chuckled. “You noticed them too?”
“I noticed them when she gave him the flower,” he told him. “I had never seen a girl giving flowers to a guy before.”
“Times have changed, I guess. That’s why they don’t feel uncomfortable giving such public displays of affection. Kids in our day weren’t like that.”
“I know, right?” said Hugh continuing with the joke. “They are so perverted. There are children present, for God’s sake.”
Simon chuckled again and Hugh stopped to tie his shoe. While he was there, Simon noticed he was throwing glances at them.
“You know, giving them the death stare isn’t gonna prevent them from being in love,” Simon told him.
“I can try,” Hugh joked. Then, he shook his head. “It’s not that. I just—”
He waited for him a couple of seconds before asking, “Just what?”
He finally answered, “Someday we’ll have something like that.”
Simon frowned. “Huh?”
“You know,” Hugh mumbled. “We’ll have girlfriends and— and all of that.”
“Oh!” Simon exclaimed. “Yeah, someday, yeah.”
But before Simon could keep talking about it (or just develop some opinion on the topic) Hugh shrugged and urged him to keep walking. “I guess. I didn’t even remember today was Valentine’s Day though. They were my reminder—” he turned around and waved at them “—Thank you, exhibitionists, you reminded me what day is it!”
Now, Hugh probably didn’t mean for them to hear him say that. Simon knew him well enough to know Hugh thought he wasn’t being loud, but the thing was… Hugh was always loud. He could be “whispering” and the whole neighborhood would hear him ask Simon if he knew how bars with strippers worked because he did know, and wanted to brag about it. Then, Simon would feel embarrassed, because, in fact, he didn’t know how bars with strippers work.
Simon immediately turned around and realized the girl was looking at them with an expression he couldn’t read. He turned invisible and pushed Hugh inside of an alley, hoping those trashcans hid them well enough in case the guy turned out to be a freaking animal and wanted to kick their flat asses for calling them exhibitionists.
Simon felt the anxiety kicking in, when Hugh started laughing so loud, that said anxiety turn into the need of punching him really hard on the arm.
So he did it. Multiple times.
“Dude, dude, shut the fuck up, dude,” Simon said keeping his voice low (because he could keep his voice down, unlike others), “that guy’s gonna kick our asses, for real. Dudeeee—”
But his voice kinda cracked when he said that “Dudeee—” and that made Hugh laugh even more, so Simon kept punching him, using a vocabulary that would make the most dangerous of gangster blush. And he probably would have kept hitting him, if the anxiety of being discovered hadn't been overshadowed by how weird it made him feel to see his best friend laugh.
When Hugh laughed, his cheeks would turn red and his eyes would water. They could be in the most embarrassing situation ever, one where no one was laughing, and if he found it funny, he was going to do it, because he wasn't going to be able to help it. And it wasn't like Simon would stop him, either. Not at all. He liked it when he laughed.
Even though he ended up making him laugh too. Like at that moment.
Most of the garbage ended up in the drains, the sidewalk, or anywhere else except where it belonged, the trash can. Generally, Hugh always refused when someone hinted at sitting on the floor, precisely for that reason. However, on that occasion, the two were sitting in that stinking alley, throwing pebbles at each other, playing with some bottle caps they found on the ground, and arguing about who would win a bare-handed fight, Wonder Man or Phantom Feline.
They decided it was time to go home when a cat-sized rat appeared out of nowhere, and the two of them came out screaming like idiots, even faster than they would have run if that guy with the girlfriend would have chased them. They ran until they reached Simon's house, all sweaty and tired, their hands on their bent knees and breathing heavily.
Then Hugh laughed again. And his cheeks were flushed again, and his eyes were watery again, and he made Simon laugh again until Mr. Westwood came home from work and told him to go inside, that it was too late to be outside.
Once he was locked in his room, with his younger sister playing in the living room and his father in the kitchen, the image of that guy kissing his girlfriend did not make him feel anything. So, he tried to imagine kissing a lot of girls that he considered a thousand times more attractive, but just when it seemed that the idea was beginning to be something desirable, Hugh came back, with his laugh, his screams, and his eyes, like one of those freaking trains that he dreamed of having the opportunity to stop one day and that never missed a single chance to tell Simon all about it.
The truth was that Simon did believe that Hugh might be able to stop a train with his bare hands, but he doubted he would be able to stop the train of thought that Simon hopped on whenever he thought of him. And he was so ashamed to know that not even the strongest prodigy on the planet was capable of doing that, that he decided to take those memories from the collar of the old blue hoodie that each one of them wore and bury them alive in the backyard of his memory.
Forever and ever.
Thrid try
Year 12
Two months ago, after their first date, Simon told Hugh he would never plan another important date, forever and ever. But now, Simon had let him plan their first Valentine's Day together without putting any objections, proving that he trusted him. And he was happy for him; Simon had always had problems when it came to trusting other people. It was nice to see the other grow to become a better person.
And it was even nicer when you were no longer only friends, but a couple.
So yeah, he wanted to make Valentine's Day special. It was kind of a big deal.
Georgia and Tamaya brainstormed with him places he could take Simon to. They all agreed that it had to be a place safe enough and that it wouldn't put them in a situation where they had to reveal their powers, and by consequence, their secret identities. But then, everything started going downhill, especially because Georgia had some very odd ideas (like something about flowers, a choreographed dance, and poetry) and Tamaya was as romantic as a rock (“Just don't end up nearly killing yourself in front of him, that should be enough.”)
It was February 13th, and Hugh was on his cot, a bit angry at Georgia and Tamaya, not only because they couldn't help him on such an important mission as they promised, but also because they blamed him for their failure, telling him that he "had no imagination" and that he "thought with his dick", just because he thought all their ideas were horrible.
Maybe he should have phrased that better...
Simon and Evander slept on the bunk bed Simon used to share with his younger sister. Simon was taking a shower, so he was all alone with Evander and Kasumi, who sometimes went there to visit her best friend, even if Tamaya told her not to do it because it smelled horrible in there and she would bring the odor to the girl’s bedroom (Hugh thought the room didn't smell bad at all, and if it did, it was because Evander acted like he was living in the street yesterday and had no sense of personal hygiene). But Kasumi didn’t seem to mind, and she spent most of her afternoons cuddling with Evander on the top bunk, while she read an old book and Evander read one of Simon’s comics (because Hugh would join the Anarchists before letting Evander touch his comics).
They started whispering at each other about who knows what, and even though he kind of wanted to know what they were talking about, he was just too tired, so he decided to put a pillow on his face and try to fall asleep. But then, he heard, quite clearly, that they said his name.
And he couldn’t let slip that.
He pulled the pillow off his face, and said, “What are you saying about me?”
They both peered over the edge of the bunk. “We were talking about how you're not good at romance,” Evander replied.
The audacity of that b— boy.
“You are eleven years old," he told him. “What are you going to know about romance?”
“No more than you,” Kasumi acknowledged, very solemnly.
Hugh made his “See?” face and he looked away.
Then, Evander asked, “Why don’t you take him to Cosmopolis Park?”
Oh, stars. He couldn’t be serious.
Cosmopolis Park.
A freaking theme park.
Evander was eleven, all right. His idea of a date was probably something out of a princess movie he and Kasumi watched from time to time (sometimes Tamaya joined them too and she always acted like she was just watching it to make fun of it, even though everyone in the house knew she had a weird soft spot for cheesy princess movies). But Hugh was technically an adult now. He should know better, and knowing better was not taking your boyfriend to a theme park for Valentine’s Day. That wasn’t very romantic.
“What a stupid idea.”
Kasumi got red all of the sudden. For the look at Evander’s face, Hugh knew he had fucked up even before she said, “It was my idea…”
“Oh— no, Zoomie, I… what I meant was that—”
“Don’t fix it, bro,” Evander interrupted him. “You’re gonna make me want to punch you more.”
He wasn’t afraid of Evander punching him because he couldn’t compare a kid’s strength to his, but he obeyed him and mumbled a small, “Sorry.”
The “sorry” was for Kasumi though, not for Evander. If Kasumi hadn’t been there, he probably would have told Evander something like “Oh, yeah? You’re gonna punch me, little punk? Come on, punch me, don’t be a pussy” (and then Georgia would have stormed into the room, telling him not to use the word “pussy”, and they would have pointed at each other saying “He started it!”)
After giving him a goodnight kiss, Kasumi got off Evander’s bed, with the book under her arm. Before leaving the room, she knelt beside Hugh to kiss him goodnight, as to show his comment didn’t cause her to feel any kind of resentment towards him.
Because of course it didn’t. Kasumi was like that.
“I was just saying— Valentine’s Day is also a day to be with friends,” she whispered. “And you and Simon are not only boyfriends but also... you know, friends. I bet that wherever you take him, it'd be magical for both of you. Because you find magic in each other's company, even before you knew you were in love. So... why not?”
She turned off the lights on her way out.
He never thought Kasumi’s tendency to romanticize everything was odd or weird. It was something that he expected from a teenage girl, especially one who has such a vivid imagination. But he also never expected that imagination would help him in some way. And he never expected for her to say the exact words he wanted to hear, even before he knew he wanted to hear them.
She was so wise.
Cosmopolis Park didn’t sound like a bad idea anymore when Simon entered just after Kasumi, wearing his pajamas, and asked him with a teasing voice, “So… where are you gonna take me tomorrow?”
Hugh didn’t know if Evander was already asleep, so he just smiled at him and told him it was a surprise. Simon rolled his eyes and gave him a soft kiss on the nose before getting into his own bed.
It was his way of telling him he trusted him. And relationships were supposed to be built upon trust. He didn't need anyone to tell him that.
As far as he knew, Simon hadn't been to Cosmopolis Park in years, probably before the Age of Anarchy began. It was no secret that the park was currently full of gangs and drug addicts but it was still a relatively peaceful place. At least peaceful enough that the park was full of families, groups of friends, and tons of couples.
Although there weren’t any couples...
Well, there weren’t any couples like them.
He wondered if Simon noticed that small detail too, but when he turned to ask him that, he knew it would be better if he just kept his comments to himself. Because he wasn't an expert reading other people's emotions, but Simon...
Simon looked so happy at the moment.
The two walked side by side, their shoulders brushing against each other's, but their hands tucked deep into their pockets. Hugh was trying to keep his eyes fixed forward to avoid bumping into anyone, but the small chuckles Simon let out every time he saw something that surprised him, made said task impossible. Suddenly, he no longer wanted to avoid the embarrassment that would cause him to bother someone by bumping into them; he wanted to look at him.
He wanted to look at him trying to hide his laughter by covering his mouth with his hand, as if he wanted to suppress some kind of dark feeling, without realizing that his joy was so full of light that it was practically impossible. He wanted to continue to see how his dark eyes, with very long lashes and deep bags under the eyes, perfectly captured the lights of the Ferris wheel and the food trucks. He wanted to see the tiny smile he had the entire time they were at the park because even if Simon didn't smile like that very often, when he did, Hugh felt as if he was witnessing the most wonderful of miracles.
Hugh took his hands out of his pocket, and when he turned his attention back to Simon, he was looking at him too. They stopped in their tracks, not caring that people passed around them, sometimes unintentionally pushing them a bit or stepping on their shoelaces.
Hugh took a step forward and Simon did too.
Then Simon pulled a hand out of his grey jacket's pocket, making him wonder if he was dreaming or if it was really going to happen.
Hugh held his breath and felt the blood rush to his face, along with the overwhelming feeling that everyone around him was staring at them, with the newly acquired gift of recognizing those two faces that always hid behind pair of colorful masks and now were gazing at each other with true devotion. He desperately wanted to know what was going through their heads, he wanted to know if they still considered them worthy of their admiration and respect, and he wanted to know if he had been right when he assured Simon that, someday, the two of them would hold each other in public without thinking it twice.
But then, just as Simon's fingers brushed his cheek, his attention was completely diverted to someone behind Hugh.
“Are you talking to me?” he asked awkwardly.
Hugh turned to see who his boyfriend was talking to. He was a slightly older man, juggling three balls and standing on the table of his own stand. He was smiling at Simon and he had a mustache that quite frankly made him look like a ridiculous comic villain.
“Yes, you!” and he threw a ball at Simon.
Simon covered his face with his hands, but Hugh caught the ball before it hit him.
Who did this guys think he was?
The guy, far from mocking Simon's reaction, seemed intrigued. “Do you want to win a prize, big guy?” he asked Hugh.
Hugh was ready to say no to him in the kindest way he could, when the guy pulled out a laundry basket, like the one Georgia put on his head every Sunday, saying "Laundry time!" in a voice so high that made birds explode.
“You just have to throw that ball you have in your hand—” he raised the basket “—here. And you can win a prize.”
He finally gave him a chance to reply. “No, thank you, we’re fine.”
He shoved his hands into his pockets again and told Simon to keep going. But the guy did not give up.
“I see,” he crooned from afar. “Your dad didn't play ball with you and that's why you don't think you're capable of throwing it correctly. It’s fine.”
Simon put his hand to his mouth as if thinking "Oh, stars, he did not."
And Hugh looked at him as if thinking "Oh, but he did."
If that guy knew who he was talking to, he would probably think it twice before making comments to strangers mocking their lack of a father figure.
So he turned abruptly and threw the ball into the basket.
If Hugh had been a little calmer, he probably would have been able to remember that, before leaving the house, Tamaya had told him that theme parks were full of games that had the sole purpose of scamming people and that one of them was that game in particular. The balls bounced so much that even if they made contact with the bottom of the basket they would jump back to whoever threw it, making them technically lose.
He would also have listened to himself, to Hugh, who told him that it would be best to turn around and get on with their lives, and not to Captain Chromium, who was determined to win that freaking game because he won every single game the world put in his way.
After three balls, the guy turned to Simon, extended his hand at him, and told him, “It's fifteen dollars.”
That was enough to make him lose his mind. Hugh told him that it was not worth arguing with him, but Captain Chromium did not tolerate that people tried to take advantage of him, and he spent about ten minutes screaming with the mustachioed man, until Simon panicked (or lost his mind), grabbed one of the balls and threw it right in the man’s eye.
Then, he did take Hugh by the hand.
But just to be sure they both got out of there before someone tried to stop them.
They ended the evening at a hamburger stand several blocks away from Cosmopolis Park (because obviously, they weren't going to stay there after the show they had put on). They did not have enough money to buy two sodas, but they bought a strawberry juice carton to share and sat on the sidewalk to eat their hamburgers of doubtful provenance, ranting against the man, against the park, and, especially, against those damn balls.
“I can't believe there are people like him breathing the same oxygen I breathe,” Simon commented, before taking a bite out of his burger ravenously. “He had no right to make that joke.”
But Hugh was so distracted by how attractive Simon looked when he bit his hamburger like that all he could say was:
“If my dad knew I couldn't win that stupid game, he would abandon me again.”
Simon frowned a little bit, repeating the sentence in his head until he finally understood the joke, and laughed so hard he began to choke with his food. Hugh started to panic and told Simon he would give him five back blows like he read he should do when someone started to choke. That was enough for Simon to spit his food on a napkin. Both were so grossed out by it, that they started laughing again. Simon hid his face on Hugh's shoulder, practically using his fit of laughter as an excuse to snuggle against him, and Hugh used his own angriness as an excuse to stay right there, telling the entire world to go to hell, and willing to keep doing it forever, just as long as the conversation didn't end and they had to go home.
Georgia and Tamaya would kill them. It was already late at night.
Fourth try
Year 17
It was already late night when they arrived at the motel.
Simon had stayed invisible the entire time they were at the reception like he always did when they had one of those more… private nights out. Hugh was the one who was in charge of booking the room because Simon got too anxious anyway at the mere idea of having to interact with one of the receptionists.
It was one thing for his entire family (or the Council, as they had been calling themselves lately, as a joke) to know that tonight he was going to have sex. Strangers knowing it was a completely different thing.
He still wasn't quite sure which one was more embarrassing, but yeah. It was different.
He only became visible again when Hugh closed the door behind him.
Simon looked at the huge sports bag that Hugh carried with him. “What you got there?”
“Nothing important,” he assured with a shrug. He was smiling like he was a kid getting a bunch of presents at Christmas, and Simon was extremely happy too, so, without asking any more questions, he kissed him on the lips and went to the bathroom to give both of them time to get ready.
Not that they hadn't done that before. They didn't like having such intimate moments in the house. And even if they had wanted to, it was practically impossible to have even a minute of privacy there. The last time he had slept in a room by himself had probably been… never. And the number of occasions someone had opened the bathroom door while he was there were more than he could count. The door lock had been broken for a few weeks but nobody knew how to solve the problem because they had no idea how doors worked. Georgia had tried to implement a serious policy of knocking before entering any room with the door closed, but the only one who paid attention to her was Adrian because the rest of them were simply too used to walk around the house as if they were in their own houses. (That they were their house, but it was more Simon's house than theirs.)
In fact, it was the first time in forever that he was in a bathroom and he didn't have to put his hand on the door, to stop whoever tried to open the door before they ended up seeing him in the most vulnerable of positions, so Simon took off his T-shirt, his jeans, and sat on the toilet, wearing his underwear and his jacket, trying to enjoy his first moment of privacy in a long time.
At least until his legs started to feel cold and Hugh told him that he could go out now.
When he came out of the room, Hugh, who was lying on the bed, widened his eyes. Simon was already ready to hear a flattering comment, but instead, he frowned and asked, “Are you going to leave your socks on?”
Simon looked at his feet automatically. He had indeed left his socks on.
He didn't see anything wrong with it.
“The carpet is filthy,” he replied. “I don't want to get fungus or something like that.”
Hugh found no fault with his logic. “Okay, but take them off when you get on the bed,” he asked.
Then Simon realized that Hugh, not only never stopped doing that ridiculous pose that pretended to be sexy throughout the entire conversation, but he also had thrown out the (probably dirty) bedsheets from the motel bed and put instead one of the blankets they took out of the closet to cover themselves during winter.
So that's what he carried in his sports backpack.
Hugh seemed to realize that Simon was looking at the blanket and not at him, because he immediately said, “Oh, I hate motel bedsheets.”
Simon couldn't help but laugh. “You hate them?”
Hugh finally stopped doing that ridiculous pose and sat down. “You just never know who sleep in them before us, Simon,” he replied, “and you never know when was the last time they washed them. Maybe they— ” he pointed to the pile of blankets thrown away “—are covered on the… bodily fluids of twenty other people, and you want me to lie on them? Is that how you want us to make love? Like animals?”
Simon kept laughing, but Hugh wasn’t laughing. “Simon, stop it!” he exclaimed. “A new class of bacteria could be there, ‘cause— oh, I am convinced that those things have a new kind of bacteria no one has discovered yet, and— ”
And he went silent when Simon put his hands on his shoulders, still with a smile on his lips.
“What?”
“Hugh, have I ever told you I think you're really sexy when you out crazy me?” Simon asked, running his fingers through his hair.
Hugh stood still, looking directly into his eyes. “No, I think you haven’t.”
Simon shrugged. “Well— I think you're really, really, sexy when you out crazy me.”
“Well, I think… I think—“
Hugh could no longer continue his sentence. Even though Simon wasn't doing anything to stop him from speaking.
He was literally just standing in front of him, one knee leaning on the mattress and one hand on Hugh's head.
“You think?” he asked him. “That’s new.”
“Simon, wait, I'm trying to seduce you,” Hugh said.
Simon took a step back, pointing to the bathroom door. “I think I’d wait over there.”
“No, wait—” he gently grabbed his wrist before he could move further away “—I’m starting to… Let me think of something.”
Simon chuckled. He put his knee on the mattress again and Hugh grabbed him around his waist, pulling him close to him and resting his head on his chest, while Simon rested his chin on his head. He had just taken a bath when they came out of the house, so Hugh’s hair smelled of him and lemon zest because they have been using dish soap as shampoo the last week.
That was the kind of privacy that they sometimes lacked at home. He was no longer talking about sex. Simon craved to have him like this, so close to him. Both in their underwear, both in a practically unknown place, and both completely vulnerable, but together. Feeling at home, even if technically they weren't.
Because Hugh was his home.
He was sure he saw him that way too.
Simon was so focused on trying to capture that moment in his memory so that he could repeat it over and over again for the rest of his life, that he was totally thrown when Hugh blurted out:
“I think you have a nice dick, dude.”
Simon broke the hug ... “What?”
Hugh’s cheeks turned even redder. “Tell me I didn't say that.”
He put a hand up to try to hide his laughter. “No, I think you did.”
He still couldn’t believe that was Hugh’s best try to seduce him. And apparently, Hugh couldn't believe it either.
“Then— forget about it,” he stammered. “Let's all of us forget about it.”
Simon realized that he tried to grab him by the waist again, but he moved away just in time, pretending to be extremely offended. “So I don't have a nice dick.”
“Let's just stop saying the word dick, please.”
“You started it.”
“I PANICKED, ALL RIGHT?”
“PANICKING IS MY JOB!”
“I’M TAKING YOUR JOB THEN. AND I’M GONNA STEAL YOUR BOYFRIEND TOO IF YOU KEEP LAUGHING!”
Simon didn't try to pretend that he wasn't laughing, because he was more than aware that it was already too obvious at this point.
So he decided it was better to play along.
“No, don't take my boyfriend!” he exclaimed dramatically, putting his hands on his shoulders. “Take me instead.”
Hugh took him by the waist and pulled him close. Simon didn't try to walk away this time. “Deal.”
But when Simon was about to start kissing him, he diverted his attention from Hugh for a split second, making him realize the curtains were wide open. “Oh, shoot, wait— the curtains.”
Luckily he hadn’t taken off his socks yet.
With quick steps, he headed to the window. He put a hand on each curtain and was about to close it completely when the lights of a car approaching from the end of the street caught his attention. It was a yellow sports car that looked more like a ripe banana than a vehicle.
Shit.
It stopped a few feet past the motel they were at. Out of it came a short man, with scars on his face and thin hair, and a tall blonde woman in a yellow dress, very inappropriate for the occasion. Not because it was provocative thought. It’s just that no one would wear such an expensive-looking dress in such a dangerous neighborhood unless they wanted to be robbed.
Or that they had enough status not to be.
Simon turned to see Hugh. “Hey—” Hugh looked up slightly. “—Come here.”
Hugh obeyed, a little bit confused, after putting his socks on (obviously). Simon had closed the curtains just enough for them not to be noticed but also not so much that they couldn’t see what was happening on the street.
Hugh gasped. “Are those—“
Simon swallowed hard. “Cyanide and Queen Bee in person.”
“What are they doing here?”
Simon had as much an idea of what Queen Bee and Cyanide were doing there as Hugh had, but he responded with the first thing that came to his mind anyway.
“Probably celebrating Valentine's Day,” he replied. “What a shitty place to take your girlfriend during Valentine’s Day though.”
At least take her to a motel. Like I did with Hugh.
“Do you think Queen Bee and Cyanide are together?” Hugh asked Simon.
Simon shrugged. “I don't know, but I know Queen Bee has a thing for Ace Anarchy.”
He had the slight hope that Hugh would take the bait and give him a chance to discuss his theories about Queen Bee's fixation with Ace Anarchy (which he always talked about with Tamaya), but Hugh, despite being very nosy, just kept quiet, watching Queen Bee and Cyanide argue outside the car.
How could that woman walk in such big heels?
“Or maybe Cyanide is the one who has a thing for Ace Anarchy,” Hugh blurted out suddenly.
Simon turned to see him. “Wait, really?”
“Don't be so heteronormative, Simon,” he scolded him. “Plus, I've never been in the cathedral, but I bet that when you enter there, it reeks homosexuality.”
“Dude—”
“I just know.”
And they kept watching.
There was something very personal about seeing two people arguing from a distance, like old ladies peering out of their home windows whenever the neighbors had a particularly loud fight. Simon almost considered it romantic.
Then, Queen Bee tried to turn around to turn her back on Cyanide, but something went wrong with her heel and she went face first towards the sidewalk, letting out a scream that could make someone think she was being murdered, and causing Cyanide (and the two of them) to laugh out loud.
How could that woman walk with those heels? Well, apparently, she couldn't.
The tension he felt when Cyanide interrupted his laughter and turned around as if he knew someone was watching them, made him remember that they were not gossiping old ladies peeking out of the window of their house and that those two were not some neighbors having a little fight. No, they were Dread Warden and Captain Chromium, stuffed into a hotel room like they were fugitives from the law or something, and those two little people in the middle of the street were two of the most feared and powerful villains in the world.
There was nothing romantic about that.
So Simon immediately closed the curtains.
But now neither of them was in the mood to have sex anymore, really.
“We should do something.”
“I'm on it.”
Hugh was already crouched slightly by the bedside, pulling his unmistakable superhero suits out of his sports bag.
Simon was so puzzled that he couldn't even stop to enjoy the… image that Hugh was inadvertently giving him by bending down like that.
“Wait, did you actually bring our supersuits to our date?” he asked him.
“Yeah,” he replied without looking up.
Who knows what kind of demon got into Simon at the time, but a not very family-friendly thought crossed his mind, and that thought was the one that made him ask, “Why?”
Hugh, completely unaware of what he was thinking, handed Simon his clothes and dropped the two pairs of boots on the floor as he sat in the bed.
Only the stars knew how he had managed to fit a blanket, their shoes, and their suits in that sports backpack.
“Because I thought something like this was gonna happen,” he explained while putting on his leggings. “You know, crime doesn’t celebrate Valentine’s Day the same way we do.”
Oh.
The little not very family-friendly thought hadn't been right then.
Simon felt a bit sick admitting that he wasn't sure if he was relieved or disappointed.
“Oh. I thought...”
Hugh looked at him, intrigued, and a second later, he understood what Simon was thinking. “Oh, stars, no. I was not thinking about that.”
“All right then.”
Now it was Hugh's turn to watch him change. Simon knew that was what he was doing.
Because he knew his look better than he knew anyone else's.
When he was fully dressed, Simon reached out to reach for his shoes, and Hugh put his own hand over his', to get his attention.
He already had the mask on, but he could see that he had turned red. If Simon had been white too, he probably would be redder than him.
He swallowed. “Unless— unless you're into it?”
Simon swallowed too. But he didn’t plan to answer him right now.
It had been hard enough to put on their suits. They didn’t need to start taking them off.
So he pulled his hand away and started putting on his shoes.
“Hugh, the villains—” he reminded him.
“Right, right.” Hugh brushed off his knees. “The villains. That’s important.”
After making sure the door had the lock on (and that said lock worked), they turned off the lights, Simon turned invisible, and Hugh climbed onto the roof, pushing himself off the window frame as fast as possible so that Queen Bee and Cyanide, who were turning their backs on them, standing in front of the door of an apparently abandoned building as if waiting for someone, did not see him. Afterward, Simon followed him, assuring him that he could climb on his own.
The two remained hiding behind the building's water tank. Well, Hugh was behind the building's water tank, and Simon was in plain sight, invisible, with his hood on and his cape fluttering behind him, making him feel…
He wanted to say that it made him feel heroic, but the truth was that Simon also felt very sexy when he got into this mysterious and threatening mode.
Simon turned his hand visible and pointed at them as if to say "Are we going or what?"
Hugh turned to see them with a frown, analyzing the situation. But when Simon was about to ask him what they were waiting for, Hugh turned to see him, with the same smile he had on his face when he was about to let the world know the coolest plan of all the plans, completely ignorant that in reality, it was the dumbest thing he had ever came up with.
“Wait, I have an idea.”
And in that situation, Simon had to take the role of being the one to tell him that his idea was bullshit and that it wasn't going to work, but he used to listen to his idea before expressing his comments about it. Not only because he didn't like talking without knowing all the facts first, but because may he could go to Tamaya the next day and tell her what had happened in the last episode of Hugh Had an Idea And It Went Wrong.
(They also enjoy episodes of Evander Acted Like An Animal Again and Queen, Realize That Junkie Doesn’t Care About You, Please.)
“Do you remember that song Evander used to sing to us?” he asked him.
Oh, Simon remembered it and cringed every time he thought about it.
But the cringe wasn't enough to stop him from singing the song.
“The Warden and the Captain are sitting in a tree—”
Hugh cringed too. “That one, yes. Stars, I hate it so much—” and he pointed to Queen Bee and Cyanide “—Let's make them hate it too. ”
Simon seriously tried to take his role as the voice of reason in that situation. He let his imagination (or rather, his anxiety) run wild, making him imagine the thousand and one scenarios in which that specific fight could turn out worse than they usually did if Hugh made that comment. Queen Bee would probably call Hugh a "lesbian" (“You have a lesbian haircut, honeybun, accept it”), Cyanide would go crazy trying to find Dread Warden to melt his skin slowly and painfully, everyone would wish death upon everyone, and the only reason the fight would end would be because either Cyanide would finally manage to injure Simon or because Queen Bee’s stilettos would break.
He didn't see how teasing them with an attack worthy of elementary school kids would make the situation worst.
Besides… it was going to be hilarious to see that.
He didn't see why he couldn't co-star in Hugh Had Idea and It Went Wrong.
“I'm in,” he replied, trying not to raise his voice too much. “I'm super in.”
Hugh rose his hand and Simon high-fived him quietly. But Hugh seized the opportunity to take his hand, running his finger across his knuckles. “Okay, but you sing the spelling part, because—”
“You don't know how to spell,” Simon interrupted.
Hugh let go of his hand. “Well, when you said it in that tone, it sounds a little mean.”
Simon rolled his eyes and took his hand again. Then the logical part of his brain (yes, the same one that always insisted on being the voice of reason in situations like that) began to yell at him that he should convince Hugh to let Cyanide and Queen Bee did whatever they wanted, while the two of them did whatever they wanted.
But that the logical part of him had no voice in that situation because the logical part of his brain was not the part that loved Hugh. After all, there was nothing logical in loving the way he made a kind of mini-horn with both hands, took a deep breath, and yelled with all his might:
“CYANIDE AND THE QUEEN BEE SITTING IN A TREE—”
Fifth try
Year 20
K-i-s-s-i-n-g.
That was what he wanted to be doing. He wanted to be kissing Simon. He wanted to be with him, walking in the park and watching life go by in front of them. The birds singing from the trees, the children chasing each other, and the wind ruffling their hair. The day was going to be so perfect that he was going to be able to ignore homeless people getting high on corners or young people dealing drugs (that should be) illegal, focusing all his attention on Simon and how happy he felt that this time, everything he was going well.
He didn't want to be crammed into the living room with the rest of his family, listening to the thunder and the rain crashing down on the ceiling.
But apparently, that's what he was doing.
Tamaya was sitting on the floor, covering herself with her wings. Simon had sat on the other end of the three-seater couch, looking out the living room window with a thoughtful expression, worthy of a character in a Shakespearean play or something. Evander was leaning over him and had Kasumi on his lap. She was watching him play (or rather trying to play) a Tetris game that he had on his phone, putting her icy feet on Hugh's arm, probably without realizing it, and Hugh was on the other end of the couch, first starting at Simon, thinking of how handsome he looked when he was thinking, and then at Georgie. She had been smart enough to sit on the reclining sofa, which gave her the space she needed to cuddle with an inconsolable six-year-old Adrian.
“The storm will end soon,” she was telling him. “The storm will end soon.”
But that was not enough to comfort Adrian. His mother had already been telling him for about an hour that “the storm will end soon”, but the storm just ... did not end. And each time they heard a new thunder, Adrian let out a howl and clung to his mother with more force, asking her to please not go away.
Everyone knew that when Adrian asked Georgie not to go away, he was actually asking everyone not to go away. If any of them left the room, he would probably lose his mind.
He felt the urge to tell him that she wasn't going anywhere. That wasn’t very Georgie. Georgie didn't leave people who needed her like that, scared, crying, and begging her to stay. So since Georgie didn't do it, neither did the others.
It is not like they could have gone anywhere though.
Georgie realized that Simon hadn't stopped staring out the window.
“I'm sorry you couldn't do anything special this Valentine’s Day,” she whispered. Simon blinked as if he were waking up from a dream. “What did you have planned for this evening?”
Simon turned to see him, disappointed. Hugh decided to answer for him.
“We were going to have a picnic at the park,” he replied.
Georgie blurted out something that sounded like “Awww”, and Evander scoffed.
“That’s gay.” Hugh put his arm behind Kasumi and smacked Evander on the back of his head. “BRO, YOU LITERALLY MADE LOSE ME.”
Tamaya laughed and Kasumi shook her head. “I want to play too—” she tried to take the cellphone and Evander pressed it closer to his chest “—Vandy.”
Georgie intervened (without letting go of Adrian). “Vandy, give Kasumi the phone. It’s her turn. And then it's mine.”
But Evander didn’t want to.
“But it only has ten percent of battery left,” he exclaimed.
“Perfect, it's more than enough for Tamaya, Kasumi, Simon, Hugh, and I to get a turn too.”
“Hugh punched me! He does not deserves a turn.”
“I didn't punch him,” Hugh said. “I just hit him very slightly.”
“My brain almost felt out of my head.”
“Do you still have a brain?” Tamaya asked. Hugh high-fived her. “I've been thinking about that joke for weeks, dude.”
“Evander Wade, share the phone,” Georgia said. “I'm no longer asking.”
“No! It's my phone.”
Desperate, Tamaya reached out to take Evander's cell phone, and he stood up so fast that Kasumi ended up falling on Tamaya.
“MOTHERFU—”
A thunder. Again.
Adrian started crying. Again.
And they all went silent. Again.
Hugh took advantage of the fact that Evander got out of the coach to move closer to Simon. Evander didn't say anything to him because he was too busy handing the cell phone to Tamaya, who then gave it to Kasumi. Kasumi refused to sit down with Evander again and stayed on the floor with Tamaya (although resting her head on his knees, as if they were a pillow).
Simon rested his head on Hugh's shoulder.
“Next year will be better,” he whispered in his ear. Simon didn't answer him; he only put his hand on the window, leaving the trace of his fingers on it. “Are you all right?”
Simon put his hand on Hugh’s waist and pulled him closer to him, closing his eyes for a while. “I'm tired…”
“Rest then.”
After all…
Hugh was tried too.
There had never been a day when they didn't have to face a new threat. It seemed that the Anarchists, instead of getting weaker, were getting stronger. Even with the many new allies the Renegades had, no one seemed to have a second of the day to rest. Adrian got more and more nervous when they went out as days passed by, and it was becoming more difficult to calm down him during his tantrums. Even he, who was a child, could feel the tension in the city.
But precisely because of that, because he was a child, he could not understand the enormous responsibility that the Renegades had on his shoulders and that they could not stay with him, no matter how much they wanted to.
Maybe that was why no one had tried to leave the room. It was their way of telling Adrian that they were still there for him.
He was about to fall asleep when Simon pulled him away. His first instinct was to pull him closer, but as soon as he realized that Simon was just standing up, he let go of him.
Suddenly, he looked happier. Much happier than anyone else in that room.
Everyone noticed that change.
“Are you still too tired to celebrate Valentine’s Day?”
Even Hugh didn't understand what he meant.
Evander turned to see Georgie. “Georgie, you told them no hanky-panky in the house.”
“Vandy—” Kasumi intervened.
“Zoomie.”
“Don't say hanky-panky.”
“Yeah, you sound like a grandma,” Tamaya told him slightly punching him on the leg.
Hugh shushed them. “Shhh, guys, let Si talk.”
“No, go on, guys—” Simon told them “—Let us show you.”
And he held out his hand.
Obviously, Hugh accepted it.
He had no idea what Simon was planning to do, but he wasn't too tired not to celebrate Valentine's.
He was never too tired of him.
Adrian immediately reacted to this. “Hey, no, don't go...” he cried, stretching his little arms towards them.
Luckily, Simon looked like he already had that covered.
“We're not going anywhere, Adrian,” Simon assured him. “You are coming with us.”
Adrian and Georgie's eyes widened at the same time.
“Me?” Adrian asked pointing to himself.
“You,” Simon replied, confidently. “But it's a very special mission,” he added in a lower voice, putting a hand on his shoulder. “You can't tell anyone.”
Adrian rubbed his eyes and Georgie looked up at the ceiling as if she were making sure a new leak hadn't magically appeared. Tamaya, on the contrary, didn't understand, and she stared at the scene, very intrigued by Simon's plan too. Luckily, Georgie noticed it, and with a frantic movement of her hand, told her to stop staring. Hugh made the same move, but this time, directed at Kasumi and Evander.
When Adrian opened his eyes again, everyone but the two of them was pretending they weren't listening to the conversation.
“What mission is it?” Adrian asked in a thin voice.
“Look, we can't go out to celebrate Valentine's Day,” Simon explained, “but what we can do is bring Valentine's Day here with us.”
Adrian looked puzzled.
“Hey, but you're going to need a superhero name to be able to participate in the mission,” Hugh commented, trying to get Adrian more interested. “Do you have any ideas?”
Simon scratched his beard, thinking. “Hmm, very good question, my dear Captain,” he commented. “Maybe—”
“Oh, I know what superhero name I'll have,” Adrian exclaimed, grabbing Simon by the cheeks. “Hey, your beard feels funny.”
Simon grabbed him by the cheeks too. “What’s your superhero name, then?”
Adrian whispered it in his ear and Simon's face lit up. “It's a perfect name, Adrian.”
Adrian shushed him. “Shh, don't say my real name! I have to use my superhero name, remember? It's a mission.”
Evander scoffed again and Kasumi shushed him immediately.
“And can he tell me your superhero name?” Hugh asked Adrian.
Adrian stopped to think about it. “Yes, why not?” he finally replied.
Then, Simon stood slightly on tiptoe to reach him and whispered in his ear the most perfect superhero name he had ever heard.
Sketch.
Hugh took Adrian by surprise when he graved him and carried him in his arms, making him gasp in shock and excitement. Even Georgie started to laugh out loud at her son's reaction.
“Ready for the mission, Sketch?” he asked him making his voice lower than it actually was.
Adrian gave a military salute. “I was born ready, Captain!” he exclaimed, moving his feet in the air.
Georgie stood up too. “Where you taking my son, guys?” she asked dramatically.
Hugh placed Adrian on his shoulders.
“Don’t worry, mom,” Adrian told her, “I’ll be fine. I need to accomplish this mission.”
Georgie pretended to start sobbing. “No, but you don't have to, son of mine, you're too young!”
“Listen to your mother, kid,” Tamaya intervened. “Stay with us, stay safe with your family—“ and she passed her wings over Kasumi's shoulders.
“Tamaya has two wings,” Kasumi pointed out. “And they're warm.”
“Really?” Evander asked.
But Tamaya’s face changed immediately. “It's not for you, it's for Adrian.”
“GO WITH THEM, LITTLE SKETCH, GO!” Evander yelled standing up on the sofa. “GO SAVE VALENTINE’S DAY!”
That was enough for Adrian. He kissed his mother on the cheek and told her that he would be back soon. Then the three of them began their journey to the kitchen while the others stayed in the living room.
Simon pulled out a bag of bread from the refrigerator and asked Hugh to pass him the peanut and hazelnut butter jars from the cupboard. Adrian took it upon himself to count the remaining loaves of bread and separate them into pairs, spreading them on the table. Simon encouraged him to count how many pairs there were and Hugh had no problem helping him when he got stuck at number five. Then Simon toasted them on the stove, and he allowed Adrian to pile them up like a tower on a red ceramic plate.
When it was time to make the sandwiches, Simon and Hugh sat at different ends of the table, each holding a butter knife. Simon would spread peanut butter on one of the loaves, Hugh would spread hazelnut on the other, and Adrian would gather them together and wrap them the best he could in a napkin, before putting them in a makeshift basket that Kasumi had made long ago.
“Mommy, no!” yelled Adrian when Georgie dared to enter the kitchen. “It's a secret mission!”
“Don’t worry, don’t mind me,” she told them pretending not to notice what they were doing. “I'm just gonna prepare myself some strawberry milk.”
As soon as Adrian looked away, Georgie winked at Hugh. And Hugh winked back.
“I think we're done with this mission now,” he replied using that ridiculously deep voice again. “You have to break the news to the rest of the team, Sketch.”
Adrian jumped out of his chair and practically ran into the living room, holding the basket with sandwiches in his hand.
The three of them had been so into their mission, they didn't realize that the others had put several blankets on the floor and Tamaya was cursing under her breath for being unable to use a lighter to turn on the candles. Kasumi approached Adrian, with a VHS in each of her hands, asking him which movie he would like to see, and Evander came over too, but to try and tell Adrian to pick the action movie, not the romance movie the girls wanted to see.
Simon seemed like he wanted to join the conversation too, but Hugh thought he had done enough. And he meant it in a good way. So he took him by the hand and they lied down on the couch, not caring that perhaps one of the others wanted to sit on it.
Adrian had already chosen the movie (he chose the period drama over the action movie, thankfully) when Georgie walked into the living room with a stack of plastic cups under her arm and a jug half full of strawberry milk, carrying it as it were a trophy. During her birthday, everyone in the house had raised money to buy her a huge pot of strawberry milk powder, which they made her promise that she would not share.
Some promises could not be kept.
The adults got two sandwiches each, but Adrian had practically all of the strawberry milk. Throughout the movie, Kasumi was sighing and muttering how much she wanted to wear a dress like the one the main character wore in the movie during that elegant dinner. From to time, Tamaya frowned and muttered something about how problematic she found a line or scene. Georgie braided their hair and when she finished, she would undo the braid and start over, laughing out loud at Evander's comments about how horrible the romantic interest looked and that he did not understand how that was the ideal of beauty that women had. Adrian fell asleep in Simon's arms about halfway through, and about that exact time, Hugh began to notice that Simon was starting to have a hard time trying to stay awake.
He looked adorable when he was thinking, but he liked it even more how he looked when he was falling asleep.
He kissed the back of his head. “Are you tired?”
He nodded slightly. “Yes… but never of you.”
Hugh kissed him again. “I was thinking the same thing.”
“What thing?”
Georgie turned around for a second and realized that Adrian had fallen asleep. She stopped braiding Evander’s short hair (for some reason, Evander had let her braid his hair) and sat on the recliner chair, hugging Adrian like a stuffed animal.
She winked at him once more. And Hugh winked back, one more time.
“Nothing— ” he laid himself more comfortably on the couch and allowed Simon to get on top of him, resting his head on his chest. “—Sleep for a while.”
Simon made no further objection. “You too.”
Hugh did not fall asleep. In fact, he stayed awake for the three hours the movie lasted, even though by the time the credits started, Tamaya was snoring and Kasumi and Evander were under her wings, rolled up, and cuddled up to her. Georgie ended up falling asleep on the couch, covered in the same blanket Simon used to cover himself a few hours ago.
When the clock told him it was 7 PM, Hugh knew it was time for them to go patrol. However, the rain had gotten even worse, and Simon...
Simon looked so peaceful.
He hadn't realized how deep the bags under his eyes had gotten, nor that his face hadn't looked as relaxed as it looked right now for weeks, because he frowned most of the time. He hadn't held him that close either or had the opportunity to give him as many kisses as he had been doing in that time. Not because he didn't want to, it was just ... well, they had been busy trying not to die.
How tiring it was to try not to die.
He knew Simon was tired because, again, he was tired too, and he bet that the rest of their family felt the same as them. But Simon was the only one who had overcome his tiredness and his moodiness to just... make them forget their sorrows for a moment.
He was like that.
Hugh gave him one more kiss on the cheek.
Thank you.
If Simon had been awake, he would have asked him "Thanks for what?"
And Hugh would have answered him, "For just being you."
Someday they would get their happy ending. But for the moment, all he wanted was to be crammed into the living room with the rest of his family, listening to the thunder and the rain crashing down on the ceiling.
He doubted that happiness would ever end.
Sixth (but not last) try
Two years after the Day of Triumph.
Just over a year ago, Simon had been on the roof of the same building he was currently in. Of course, it looked very different from how it looked now. It didn’t have any windows, no furniture, and, obviously, no electricity. It was the vile shell of what had once been one of the most beautiful skyscrapers in the city. Simon was thinking about that when he realized that he did not have a single memory of having seen that place when it was in its maximum splendor and that the only proof he had of it was the stories of those adults who arrived before him.
That sooner or later, he would become one of those adults. Those who told stories of the past to the generations that came after them.
He thought of Adrian. He thought that there would come a time when he would be curious to know certain things that happened and would ask questions that Simon would not be too sure how to answer. Not precisely because he didn't want to or because he thought he wasn't ready to hear the truth; he just didn’t know those truths at all.
Why did people change for the worst? How did the world use to be when prodigies weren’t divided by heroes or villains?
What happened to Lady Indomitable?
How did the world use to be before she was gone?
Then Simon, with tears in his eyes, looked up at the crescent moon and the six stars lined up in such a way that they seemed to form a smile. He hadn’t seen anyone in his family smile for… a very long time.
Because when Georgia Rawles left, she took with her their capacity to smile.
Yet, at that moment, Simon could feel her. He could feel her when he was crying, asking her to please fly again and to help him get down from that skyscraper. He felt her hugging him, keeping him from falling to his knees and cutting his skin with the shattered glass that was on the floor. She promised him that she would never give up on him and assured him that every time he saw the sky, he would find those six stars forming that smile, which from that moment on, would be hers.
Simon didn't want her to make promises, but… it was Georgie. His Georgie. The Georgie who made pinky promises even though she was about to turn thirty because you were never too old for pinky promises. The Georgie who always protected him and never gave up on him, even though there were times when Simon thought she should.
So since she was his Georgie, Simon accepted the promise. As she turned around and rose again to the sky, he wondered what would happen when the city was so full of light, that the stars (Georgie’s smile) faded away and everyone, including them, forgot about them (about her).
But, after all this time, Simon was looking at the stars, on the roof of that same skyscraper that had now been turned into a fancy restaurant, holding Hugh's hand across the table, and noticing that Georgie was still smiling at him from above.
As it always should be.
“Did you ever expect things to turn out like this when you were little?”
He turned to see Hugh again. “What things?”
But Hugh kept staring at the stars. Simon didn't care. He liked to think that the sparkle in his blue eyes was due to them. “Us.”
Simon shook his head, “No,” he answered when he remembered Hugh couldn’t look at him. “Did you?”
Finally, Hugh saw him again. “I think that when I was little, I didn’t know one could be as happy as I am with you right now.”
Simon rolled his eyes.
“I'm serious,” Hugh insisted, taking him just a little tighter by the hand. “I'm so glad we finally made it out.”
Simon leaned forward slightly. “We really did, huh?”
Then, Hugh gently pulled him closer to him, making their foreheads bump and closing his eyes. “And I'm so glad that now, nothing bad is gonna happen to you, to us, and to what we have.”
Simon closed his eyes too. He would have liked to promise Hugh that it would be like that. That this new chapter of their lives, the chapter of getting married, having kids, and rebuilding a city together, was would turn out as well as the last one, when they fought crime, defeated the bad guys, and held hands only when they were not wearing the armors that protected them from the outside world.
But he could not promise that. And anyways, Hugh was not very fond of promises. He said they were very easy to break.
So he grabbed his chin and gave him a quick kiss on the lips before saying, “It's getting late. We should ask for the check.”
Hugh nodded and called a waiter. He noticed that Simon was reaching into his pocket and quickly told him not to do it, that he got it. Simon knew there was nothing he could do to make him change his mind, so he instead just asked if he could get a slice of chocolate cake to go. Adrian would love to have chocolate cake for breakfast.
The waiter returned a few moments later with the bill (and Adrian’s chocolate cake). Simon almost winced when he saw the amount of money they had spent on a meal that hadn’t been that good in the first place (although he did not know if it was because of the lack of ingredients or because gourmet food kind of sucked). However, Hugh didn't seem at all concerned and reached into his pockets to get his wallet.
Suddenly, he leaned his elbows on the table. “Simon.”
Simon leaned his elbows on the table too. “Yes?”
“Have I mentioned you look very handsome tonight?”
He tried to remember. “No,” he replied. “But thank you for noticing. I even took a shower.”
“Wow,” Hugh exclaimed with too much enthusiasm. “Feeling fancy today.”
“I do feel fancy today,” Simon replied, adjusting the jacket he had put on over his pink button-up shirt at the last moment because Hugh had told him that the restaurant had a pretty rigid dress code.
Simon almost didn’t put on the jacket out of pure spite. In fact, he spent all the way ranting about how it was stupid to have such a specific dress code in a place like Gatlon City, and that he bet that the owners of that restaurant, who now were acting like total snobs, had spent most of their lives wearing only a t-shirt and old jeans, like the rest of them.
Hugh, who had been wearing the jacket from the beginning (a blue one), was quiet, listening carefully to what Simon was saying until he blurted out:
“We can do something else if you want to.”
He didn't say it in an “I’m hurt by your comment” tone. Instead, he said it the same way he would tell him that they could watch another movie or that they could get take out instead of cooking dinner. He said it as if the reservation he made was not at stake, or as if he hadn’t been sending him hints of wanting to go to that specific restaurant since New Year.
Simon knew that if he had said yes, Hugh would have taken him wherever he wanted. However, Simon also knew that it didn't matter where they went. They had spent Valentine's in an alley, at a fair, fighting villains, and in a house too small for seven people. And in all those places, he had a great time.
Surely that place was… snobbish, but he could have a great time there too.
After all, they were together.
He was sure Hugh knew that too.
Hugh nodded, agreeing with him. He hardly ever agreed with someone other than himself anymore.
“Is this your strange way of making me say you look good too?” he asked him then.
And Hugh’s smile grew bigger. “Simon Westwood, you are the love of my life,” he replied taking his hand, “and this is my strange way of telling you I forgot my wallet at home.”
Simon laughed so loudly that the other customers turned to see him. But he couldn't care less. He kind of wanted them to saw them. He wanted them to notice how much he was laughing and he wanted them to see him kiss Hugh as he reached for his pockets…
Oh, no.
“Hugh.”
He tensed. “Yes, dear husband of mine who’s going to pay for this dinner?”
“You look good too.”
That was enough for Hugh to realize that Simon had also left his wallet at the house.
The two remained serious for a long time. But then, Simon could see how Hugh's brain clicked in a very strange way, which made him see this whole situation as the funniest thing that had ever happen to him.
He kissed him once more.
They always managed to ruin their Valentine's Days one way or another, but it didn't matter. Because there was no way they could ruin what the two of them had.
Boy, he would like to see someone try.

Grayson’s eyes shifted from his seat in Kate’s car to his front door. His mouth folded into a tight ball, while he huffed out of his nose. His weak sinus responded by triggering a cough that filled the space of Kate’s car.
She winced and gave him a sideways glance from the driver’s side, “You sure you’re going to be okay?”
Grayson nodded and cleared his throat. He ran a hand through his hair and looked down, thankful to see that he was no longer wet—although he was highly disheveled. He pushed the passenger side door open and convinced his legs to walk toward his front door.
For a moment, he second guessed whether his key would open his own front door. Something about his house made it seem like foreign territory, like it belonged to another version of Grayson with much different priorities than the one that walked over that threshold.
Almost immediately, Grayson was faced with the tall, looming, svelte figure of Calvin Maddox.
Calvin Maddox was a slim shouldered, lengthy man with perfectly kept white hair: who walked with all the power, elegance, and traditionalism that came with having old money. Maddox had inherited a fortune from his bloodline: he maintained his money via his status as a Real Estate Tycoon in the deep South. Up until the night before, Calvin had liked Grayson. He had looked forward to being his father-in-law one day. Calvin would have never uttered this out loud in front of his family, but he even favored Grayson over his current son-in-law, Sherry’s sister Coral’s husband, Jackson White.
In that moment, Calvin’s steely blue eyes were forged with hatred and detest while he looked down his nose at Grayson while he made his way through the front door. Calvin’s figure reminded Grayson of a wolf, as the older man prowled his way across the living room and silently stepped in front of Grayson’s path. For a second, Grayson could have sworn he saw the man snarl at him.
“You’ve got some nerve,” Calvin’s Southern accent was thick and slathered with a calm anger, “Walking through that door, like nothing ever happened.” Grayson’s pupils trembled in his eyes as Calvin crossed his arms.
“I-uh,” Grayson stammered, “I just wanted to get a few things. I’m uh—I’m sorry—I am but—I’m not looking for a problem.” Grayson held out his palms in from of him, taking in a few shaky breaths. Calvin stepped toward Grayson, keeping his arms crossed. “You know my daughter wasn’t looking for a problem when she agreed to be your wife. But now I’m wondering if that’s really the case, son.” In the past year, Calvin had started calling Grayson ‘son’, in act of Southern hospitality. Usually, Grayson found it comforting; on that day, the word was charged with antagonistic energy.
Grayson gulped down, feeling his heart pound from deep within his chest. He opened his mouth to say something but found his entire mouth was dry, with his tongue hanging heavy against his palette.
“Now,” Calvin took another step toward Grayson. He narrowed his eyes at Grayson before continuing, “You want to tell me what happened last night Grayson.” Calvin took another step toward Grayson, leaving only a few inches of space between them, “Or are we going to have a problem?”
Grayson went blank, staring up at the older man with wide eyes and shallow breaths. His tongue flopped inside of his mouth, failing to create anything that could become coherent words. His bottom lip trembled as he tried to find a response that could face the moment.
From inside the house, behind the pair, a few footsteps came sauntering through the hallway.
“Hey,” Ethan’s voice was low and calm, “What’s going on out here?”
Grayson’s eyes immediately found Ethan’s: a pair of unsure, nervous eyes meeting an identical pair laced with assurance and relief.
Calvin did not shift from his position in front of Grayson. “Nothing Ethan,” he looked over his shoulder to find Ethan standing in an identical position: crossed arms and steely eyes. Calvin dropped his hands at his sides and stepped back from Grayson’s personal space, “Just asking your brother if he could explain why he decided to break my baby girl’s heart last night.” Grayson gulped again. He saw an accomplished look wash through Calvin’s eyes for a moment.
Calvin looked down, surprised to see Ethan place a hand on his shoulder, “I think my brother will talk, when he’s ready to talk.”
Grayson’s mouth fell into a tight line and he pushed his shoulders back: trying to feign confidence. Ethan patted Calvin’s shoulder chummily, nearly mocking the tension of the moment, “C’mon Calvin, I think you should eat something.” Grayson was extremely grateful to see Ethan lead the man away coolly. Finally alone in the room, Grayson breathed a sigh of relief. He wasn’t aware of it at the time, but Ethan had made excuses for Grayson’s disappearance the night before. In the weeks prior, Ethan had noticed his brother’s confidence slowly fade into a squirrelfish demeaner: he knew it was just a matter of time until Grayson’s façade broke. Ethan was shocked that Grayson chose his own engagement party to accept his inner qualms. Ethan wrote it off as another example of Grayson being the dumber twin.
From the car, Kate pulled down the sun visor in her car to inspect herself in the mirror. While Grayson mentally sparred with Calvin Maddox in the house, Kate discovered a few stress pimples forming between her temple and her left eye. She sighed and bored holes into the front door with her eyes, silently begging Grayson to come back as quickly as possible. She looked back in the mirror to recognize the under-eye bags and frizzy, unkept hair that came as a consolation prize with being a third-year doctoral student.
Grayson’s steps were hurried and frantic as he raced to his own bedroom: barely recognizing it under the hoards of overturned drawers and bags laying out the room. In a manic fit, Sherry had scoured and destroyed everything she could get her hands on, in a mad effort to understand where Grayson had gone and why he would want to leave her. Grayson’s heart stopped for a second, but his mind emphasized the importance of haste.
Moving quickly, he grabbed his orange, leather, Louis Vuitton duffel bag from the top shelf of his closet. He shuffled through piles of clothing to find the few pieces he though he would need in the coming days. He didn’t pay attention to the shoes he grabbed from his closet, putting whatever he found first in the bag. He was looking down at the bag, taking an inventory of what he had packed when the door to his on-suite bathroom slowly opened with a painful screech on its hinges.
In the door frame, was the image of Grayson’s exhausted, angry, and frenzied fiancé.
Sherry Kerrigan Maddox was drawn into the world with womanly curves and a Cheshire Cat smile. She knew nothing except for the high-class, debutante life of a Southern heiress. She grew up trailing her mother and sister at high-profile events: wearing big hats, drinking sweet iced tea, and laughing politely at the jokes of the country’s richest southern dynasties.
Sherry spent most of her teenage life away from her mother and father, attending a private boarding school with her older sister, Coral. Unlike Coral, Sherry never did particularly well in school. The only subject she was ever mildly interested in was French, which she learned to speak with superb proficiency, something that came in handy with her future modeling career. Once, Sherry had cried when she was handed a math test. Her teacher, who had just graduated from college, excused Sherry from taking the test in an act of kindness, not wanting to subject a young girl to public emotional strife. When the board of Sherry’s private school found out, they threated Sherry with suspension on the order of disobedience and violating the academic validity code. A cool word and hot money from Calvin Maddox promised that the teacher would be let go from the school, while his daughter could continue to happily doodle in her notebooks and forget about Algebra.
She was, objectively, beautiful. Her round face was complimented with full cheeks and a soft jawline. Her blue eyes were wide but almond shaped: inherently sensual. She wore a strong, arched brow: the brunette color of which exposed her as a fake blonde. But her hair was a gorgeous golden hue, always sitting exactly perfectly on her head. Sherry Maddox knew, quite well, that lipstick lasted longer, but always preferred to wear gloss, because it was more fun.
Her voice was choked with waves of torment, “What do you think you’re doing?”
Every muscle in Grayson’s body stiffened. In a deep place, he knew this conversation was coming he just didn’t expect it to happen so soon. He swallowed hard, meeting his lips together in a flat pout. He let out a hard breath as Sherry spoke again, “What are you doing here?” Grayson didn’t turn to face her, “Sherry-I-“ “NO!” Her usual Southern elegance was gone from her presence, replaced with the unhinged pain of a woman with a broken heart, “You don’t get to say my name! You don’t get to just,” she motioned her arms in the air, “waltz in here!”
Grayson stammered and turned to find Sherry with tears in her eyes, shaking a pointed finger at him. He closed his mouth.
“So?” Her voice held a sharp edge, “You don’t have anything to say for yourself?” She gritted her teeth, “You leave me there. Alone.  In front of everyone. And you can’t even apologize.”
Grayson exhaled; his jaw shook in the attempt at finding something to say. He signed, “I’m sorry. I—I don’t know—I” Sherry interrupted him, “You? You embarrassed me? You humiliated me? You left me to explain to TMZ and Page6 why you weren’t there? You left me there to listen to Ethan’s pathetic excuses for you?” She sneered at him, “You must think I’m really stupid.”
Grayson reached an arm behind him, placing it on his duffel bag. He silently wished that he could run away, and leave this moment frozen for a more prepared Grayson to handle. “I don’t think that Sherry. I just –I need time.” His eyes pleaded with her; his heart felt like it was being plucked at by a thousand angry, clawed birds.
Sherry laughed: a cold laugh without an ounce of humor in her face. “You need time?” Her voice was vicious. “You need? Wow. We’re talking about what you need. What about what I need? What about the fact that I needed you last night? Thought didn’t cross your mind did it?”
Grayson’s face folded into a pained position, “I’m sorry Sherry. I really am. I—We—I can’t do this anymore.” In one swift motion, Grayson picked up his duffel bag and headed for the door. He tried to block out the sounds of Sherry’s cries and screams.
Making his way to Kate’s car, Grayson’s internal structure was panged with guilt. His mind tremored with the realization of the gravity of his actions.
Grayson landed in Kate’s passenger seat in a hectic, distressed position. Kate silently wished she had suggested that Grayson call Ethan to collect his things. Grayson turned to face her; a distraught form of inner terror palpable in his eyes.
His voice was low, “We’re really doing this.”
She gave him a sideways glance, “You’re really doing this.”
Grayson’s mouth flatlined. His jaw locked with tension and guilt. He thought back to Sherry, peering at the front door through the car window, he turned to face Kate.
The wounds in his heart burned when she said, “I’m not the one who needs a second chance because I treated you right the first time.”
The car ride to Kate’s apartment was silent except for the gentle buzz of her engine. She parked on the street and didn’t say a word to Grayson as she exited the car.
With her keys dangling in her hand, she quickly marched up the stairs and through her front door. Her energy was fluxed by the sight of Wesley in her living room. “Hey,” his voice was heavy with concern, “I texted you. I thought we were going for breakfast this morning?” His big brown eyes were weighed down with his care for her.
Kate’s mouth went dry as he tongues floundered for a moment, “Sorry—I must have forgotten. You know how things have been lately, I’ve been working more than I’ve been breathing.” Her words mushed together, making her sentence sound like one over-extended syllable.
Wesley stood up and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, “You doing alright Katie? I’ve been worried about you but this—this isn’t like you.” He gently thumbed her clavicle, “Maybe you should put work down for a little bit.”
Kate shook her head quickly, “No-I mean yes. Yes. That’s exactly what I am going to do. I was going to call you. I’m leaving. For now. To go to..Philly! I’m going to spend time with my mom in Philly.” She nodded enthusiastically, trying to fake a smile.
Wesley seemed satisfied with this answer, as his eyes lost some of their murk, “Good. I’m happy for you. When are you leaving?” “Today!” Kate’s answer came a bit too fast and too loud.
Wesley furrowed his brow, “And when are you getting back? Maybe we can take a weekend together before you go back to work?”
“I’m not sure,” Kate gave a weak shrug, “I didn’t book my return ticket yet.” She sucked in her top lip, “I was going to wait—for the weather. Wouldn’t want to book a ticket during a snowstorm.” Wesley placed a gentle kiss on her head, “Say hi to your mom for me. And remember, I’m a phone call away.” Kate’s own heart betrayed her as her pulse quickened under Wesley’s lips, “Will do.” She sighed in relief when she stepped away and headed for the door, “Enjoy your trip. Love you Katie.” “Love y-“ Wesley shut the front door and she did not finish.
Kate was emotionally uncomfortable. Not from lying to Wesley because this was not the first time she had lied to him. She was uncomfortable with how nearly comfortable she was in this dialogue.
She shifted her emotions to a distant place in her mind, deciding to struggle with them later. She worked methodically to pack a backpack with the clothes and toiletries she would need for the trip. At the bottom of her closet, she pulled out a shoebox with the two t-shirts and one pair of sweatpants she was left with after breaking up with Grayson. She included the pieces in her backpack, figuring this was as good a chance as any to give them back to him.
Hustling out of her door, she looked down to see her school bag thrown against the floor. She picked it up, her research in the back of her mind. With two backpacks and a jacket slung over her shoulder, she made her way to Grayson in her car outside.
Kate shoved her things in the back seat, next to Grayson’s duffel bag. With a huff, she dropped herself in the driver’s seat and turned to face Grayson.
He started first, “I’m sorry.” He spoke quickly, “I’m so sorry. I know I’m dragging you into this when you don’t deserve to be here. I should have never assumed that you would even be remotely interested in trying to—” Kate held up a finger to his lips. “This is my decision too.” Her voice was steady, the opposite of his frenzied tone. Grayson shook his head, his mouth felt sparks under her slender finger. “You’re not responsible for sorting through my emotions.” She looked at him, a serene balance in her eyes. She spoke with a confidence, “If I didn’t want to help you, I wouldn’t be here.”

Hitoshi let out a tired sigh leaving his lips as he shoves his hands on the pockets of his hoodie. A frown on his lips as he tried to hide his face inside the purple scarf wrapped around his neck, hiding away from the cold breeze passing by.
It was a cold day, that can be said and Hitoshi wished to just stay in his warm bed while being cocooned with his comforters and blankets to keep him from suffering the cold air of January while sleeping probably until noon, if he was lucky that is and not have his mom wake him up. Sadly, Hitoshi was asked by his one (and only) friend to meet up and hang out and the indigo haired knew that no matter how many times he flat out disagrees, the [Hair color] haired male always was a stubborn one. And once he makes up his mind, he'll drag Hitoshi along with him.
"This better be worth it," Hitoshi grumbled as he was still angry to leave the comforts of his bed and warm room to be outside with the January air being cold and having no clue where he was. With a sigh, Hitoshi remembered how [Name], his friend, basically begged him to accompany him to the new cafe that opened. Hitoshi would have flat out reject the [Hair color] haired male if it wasn't for [Name]'s four words he uttered yesterday.
It was a cloudy, Friday morning. The first period was over and each class has a ten minute break before the next teacher comes in to discuss whatever subject they had planned for the young minds of each of their classes. Hitoshi distinctly remembered that the next period teacher was absent for today and with that knowledge, the indigo haired male decided to spend the ten minute break and aswell as the next period doing something important. Sleeping.
The indigo haired male suffered from the lack of sleep. With his hectic sleep schedule and insomia just kicking in, Hitoshi has limited amount of sleep and it can be known with the large bags underneathe his eyes. It doesn't help that he had to finish some homework his teachers had pilled up to them. So, Hitoshi decided he'll sleep than study or chatter with his classmates like the others are currently doing. The indigo haired male let out a sigh and he positioned himself to be comfortable on his seat and plopped his arms on his desk and was about to slam his head onto his arms when a loud bang echoed inside the room.
Due to the loud noise, it made a lot of students shriek in fear and stopped whatever they were doing and snapped their heads on where the loud noise was heard. The loud bang they heard was from door of the classroom slammed open with so much forced that some pondered how the hinges of the door was still intact. But what everyone focused was the figure stood there, clad in the familiar clothing of the male's uniform of the school although the uniform was now wrinkled here and there and the student's hair was messy and all over. His hand was gripping the doorknob tightly as the student was panting harshly and gasping for air, indicating that he had did something to actd that way, and everyone knew it was running.
"HITOSHI!!!" The figure screamed when be had gathered his bearings and immediately, everyone recognized that it was none other than the school's resident ray of sunshine, [Name] [Last name].
[Name] stood tall and proud when he finished gasping for air. Wiping the sweat off his forehead as he sent a beaming smile to everyone as he frantically looked around the room but then his gaze directed to the said male he screamed their name out.
"Hito-chan!" [Name] had happily called out to the indigo haired male as skipped inside the indigo haired male's classroom. Not minding the lively chatter that comtinued before he interrupted from the other students that were still inside the room nor the way their eyes following him approaching the indigo haired male that everyone enjoyed to avoid like the plague. As [Name] was close, he immediately threw himself to Hitoshi and hugged the male who gave him an unimpressive stare with his actions.
"Let's go out together this saturday!" [Name] suggested as he smiled at his friend who he felt slumped on his arms, clearly lazy and tired. "I found this new cafe and I think you'll like this one!" He had happily said as Hitoshi grunted on his arms.
"No," Hitoshi bluntly disagreed and shoved [Name] away from him. Hitoshi's surprising actions made [Name] let out a yelp and almost stumbled back. It doesn't help that the realization hit him on the indigo haired male's answer, he frowned for a second but then jumped back to his childish attitude. Hitoshi did not mind his friend's sputtering on his answer as he prompted his arms on his desk and placed his head on them. "And stop calling me that!" Hitoshi grunted as he closed his eyes as the indigo haired male wanted to sleep for a bit before the break was over.
"Huh?!? But why?!?" [Name] pouted and whined as he looked at Hitoshi. The indigo haired male let out a groan when he felt the [Hair color] haired male shake him by the shoulders.
"Hito-chan! Don't just sleep on me!" [Name] whined to his indigo haired friend in annoyance. "Tell me why!"
Hitoshi grumbled incoherent words to himself as he raised his head and opened his eyes to glare at his friend who still was shaking his shoulders. "Stop being immature, idiot," Hitoshi grumbled ad he rolled his eyes at his friend's childish and immature actions on puffing his cheek and crossing his arms over his chest, acting like a toddler being mad.
"Am not!" [Name] grumbled as he then pouted. "Why are you such a meanie, Hito-chan... and answer my question!" He whined as Hitoshi rolled his eyes again. Christ, why was he friends with [Name] again? Who even says meanie as an insult anymore other than four and five years old?
"Because I said so," came Hitoshi's blunt answer which made the [Hair color] haired male whine louder. [Name] frowned as he looked at Hitoshi who did not paid mind to him and was about to lay his head on his arms again to try and sleep.
"Come on Hito-chan!" [Name] had begged as he drop down on his knees and kneeled down beside sitting form of his best friend. His hand cupped together in front him as he gave his best puppy dog eyes to his indigo haired best friend who didn't even looked at him. "Please, Hitoshi?" He begged, using Hitoshi's proper name and not the one he calls to the indigo haired male. "I promise you'll enjoy this one!" [Name] pleaded.
Hitoshi narrowed his purple eyes and took a glance at his [Hair color] haired friend who was still in the floor, kneeling and trying to coerce him with his puppy dog eyes that was definitely NOT working. Hitoshi sighs as his ears picked up the sound of chattering surrounding him. 'Right, we're still in class... this is so embarrassing...' Hitoshi grumbled on his thoughts as he closed his eyes.
"Please Hitoshi!" [Name] shouted when the indigo haired male was too silent for his liking. As the [Hair color] haired male stayed there on the ground, not moving from his kneeling position. Hitoshi thought over his words on hanging out together on Saturday. After a few more seconds, Hitoshi finally made his final decision.
"No," came Hitoshi's final and blunt reply. Still unchanging despite the [Hair color] male's efforts on pleading and begging for him to consider.
"Hitoshi!" [Name] cried out as he whined at the indigo haired male who went back to placing his head on his arms to get some sleep.
"I'll pay for everything!" [Name] had said. It seemed like those were the magic words as he saw the indigo haired male crack one eye open to look at him. There was a hum from the tired male as [Name] begged to whatever deities listening to him currently that they would give him some good karma and bless him to have his friend accompany him.
As [Name] begged some higher beings to make the indigo haired male reconsider his answer, Hitoshi thought about it again. Was it worth waking up early to meet up with the [Hair color] haired male? Was it worth not getting some much needed sleep just to hang out with this male who Hitoshi swore doesn't know what quietness or silence is?
"... fine..." Hitoshi grumbled out his agreement as what is more better than food? Free food and Hitoshi will make sure the [Hair color] haired male will have an empty wallet after tomorrow. Hitoshi saying his agreement had closed his eyes again and tried to get some sleep. Not minding [Name] immediately stood up from his kneeling position and fist pumped the air while screaming "yeah!" in excitement.
Hitoshi sighs as he stopped walking and looked around the area he was in. The indigo haired frowned and looked at the sky in annoyance, he then looked back around again and tried to remember if he was in the right place on where his [Hair color] haired friend was supposed to join him to take him to the cafe he was obsessing on taking Hitoshi there. Tapping his shoe in annoyance at the pavement, Hitoshi let out a tired sigh as he then took his phone out from his hoodie's pocket and unlocked it. Pressing on the massaging icon, the indigo haired male immediately pressed the very top of the messages with the familair name displayed and he began typing, rather annoyedly as he did.
TO: Idiot (◕ω◕✿)
FROM: Hito-chan♡ (눈_눈)
where are you?
[08:22 AM]
Hitoshi typed and sent it when done as he stood and looked arpund again. He was standing in the sidewalk from a busy street where people, young and old walk around and minding their own business. On some occasions, Hitoshi would see some people with unique quirks. The indigo haired male had to hold his sjort when he saw a businessman with a head shaped like a cactus. As Hitoshi looked around and waited for his [Hair color] haired friend, his phone vibrated on his hand. His screen lit up, indicating it recieved something to have its user be notified. And the indigo haired male saw the sender's name which made Hitoshi let out a tired sigh.
Idiot (◕ω◕✿) sent (3) messages
Hitoshi opened his inbox and tapped the most recent messages that he received and the indigo haired male saw what his friend had replied. If he can, Hitoshi would have liked to slap [Name] when he saw the messages.
TO: Hito-chan♡ (눈_눈)

[08:28 AM]
The indigo haired male stared at his screen for a moment as he then raised one of his hand and slapped it on his forehead. "My God... [Name]..." Hitoshi grumbled underneath his breathe as he began to type his reply.
TO: Idiot (◕ω◕✿)
FROM: Hito-chan♡ (눈_눈)
hurry up idiot
[08:32 AM]

[08:33 AM]
After sending those two text, Hitoshi immediately gotten a reply and he didn't have to look at the screen of his phone which displayed the messages to know that his [Hair color] haired friend was whining at him on being a 'meanie' and begging him not to ditch [Name].
Not a few seconds later, Hitoshi's phone vibrated. The indigo haired let out an annoyed grunt as he tap the green icon to receive the call from [Name] as he then placed the phone on his ear. Hitoshi winced and had to hurriedly pull his phone away from his ear with how loud [Name] was on the other line.
"HITO-CHAN!!! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE!!!" [Name] cried out on the indigo haired male's phone. Hitoshi had to gather his bearings from the [Hair color] haired male's voice. Hitoshi swore that [Name] sometimes had that loud pro-hero's voice, Present Mic. Both being incredibly loud and their voices goes annoying real fast.
"HITO-CHAN PLEASE WAIT FOR ME!!! IM ALMOST THERE!!!" Hitoshi let out series of grumbles as he listened to [Name] beg for him to wait. Hitoshi wonders why he even bother with his friend. Looking around, Hitoshi noticed he was getting some looks, from judgmental, curious to annoyed ones. It made the indigo haired embarrassed.
"Keep quiet," Hitoshi hissed as he felt heat creeping in on his cheeks from the looks of passersby he was getting from the loud [Hair color] haired male on his phone. "I'll wait but just... shut up, idiot," Hitoshi grumbled as he heard [Name] thanked him profusely on the other line. The indigo haired male rolled his eyes at his friend's attitude and had to stop himself from snorting when he heard [Name] getting scolded on the other line from how loud he was. 'Idiot...'
"A-ah! I'm so sorry for the disturbance!" Hitoshi heard his [Hair color] haired friend apologize. There was another voice piping on the other line aswell as shuffling. The indigo haired wondered where his friend was. 'He said he was close?' Hitoshi thought. 'But he also said that he was still in the train...'
Hitoshi was about to end the call when [Name] continued talking, more quietly than before. "Hey, Hito-chan?" [Name] had called out. The said male hummed to show he was listening as Hitoshi looked around the area again to see people walking pass by him.
"Yeah?"
"I... well..." Hitoshi raised his brow at his friends uncharacteristic hesitation but the indigo haired nale did not mind. The indigo haired male knew that [Name] always goes head first in situations and did not think about it. Hitoshi found that attitude of his to be stupid really but [Name] was [Name], and his friend always gets it in the end. "Thank you for being my friend..."
Hitoshi paused. Gripping his phone tightly, there was a smile on his lips as he rolled his eyes at the [Hair color] haired male's words.
"Yeah... sure... whatever, idiot..."
Hitoshi looked at the time on his phone and let out an annoyed sigh when he saw it was twenty-two minutes after [Name] had called him and ended the call with the [Hair color] haired male promising he was close by already.
'Yeah right... close my ass...' Hitoshi thought as he bit his bottom. The male was still not here and it made Hitoshi regretted leaving his bed more than ever. 'At least he should've have the decency to come in time...'
Hitoshi swears that when he sees his friend, he'll slap the [Hair color] haired male for being late. The indigo haired male knew that he will make his friend buy the most expensive stuff in this cafe they were going so [Name] will regret inviting him and being late. But either way, Hitoshi liked watching the cars and people passed by, the indigo haired male just wished it wasn't so goddamn cold and that he was actually sitting than standing like a dumbass in the middle of the sidewalk as he waited for his friend.
Looking at his phone again, Hitoshi decided to pass the time by playing games on his phones. It was already twenty-six minutes since the call and despite [Name] assuring him that he'll be there, he still wasn't and Hitoshi did not want to think what made his friend so late. He knew [Name] always had a terrible skills in time management. The [Hair color] haired male can either be ten minutes early or twenty minutes late, there is no inbetween and the indigo haired male wished [Name] was the former for atleast this outing but it seemed like lady luck was not on his side. Well, when was she always on his side? She never was as he grew up anyways. Having born with a villaino--
"HITO-CHAN!!!"
"GAH!!!" Hitoshi almost dropped his phone and would have been thrown to the ground if he had not steadied himself on time. That still not prevented the indigo haired male to be scared out of his wits and a frightened scream leaving his lips when he felt a body colliding behind him aswell as weight distributed on his back and arms wrapped around his neck, tighly.
"Hito-chan!" The said male let out quiet curses as he turned to look behind him to see the male he was waiting shining him a beaming smile. "Hito-chan! Im so glad you didn't ditch me," [Name] had said as he nuzzled his face on the other male's cheek.
Hitoshi felt his face burned in embarrassment from his best friend's affectionate gesture. And not to mention [Name] was being so close to him in public. Hitoshi's cheeks were painted a light shade of pink flush as he turned his head the other way from his friend.
"I almost did..." Hitoshi muttered as [Name] guffawed at his answer with his [Eye color] eyes widen from Hitoshi's words. "Now... g-get off me idiot!" Hitoshi had exclaimed as he tried to push his friend away but [Name] whined at him.
"Hito-chan!" The [Hair color] haired whined in a childish way. "Don't be mean!"
"Idiot! Just-- get off me! It's embarrassing," Hitoshi retorted as the [Hair color] haired male pouted but complied with his words. Not without one last whine about the indigo haired male being so cold towards him which amde Hitoshi roll his eyes at his words.
"Whatever..." Hitoshi had said as he adjusted the scarf of his neck and avoided his [Hair color] haired friend's eyes as [Name] turned to look at him with a bright smile.
"Here you go Hito-chan!" The [Hair color] haired male had pushed a white plastic bag towards the indigo haired male's chest. His actions made Hitoshi turned to look at him with surprise on his face as he took the bag. [Name] still had that smile on his lips as he looked at Hitoshi.
"What... what's this?" Hitoshi asked, confused as he looked down on the white blastic bag on his hand. Hitoshi heard [Name] awkwardly laughed as the [Hair color] haired male rubbed the nape of his neck. If Hitoshi would have looked, he would have saw the soft pink flush on [Name]'s [Skin color] cheeks.
"Ah, well..." [Name] had started as he awkwardly coughed onto his fist. "I knew I would be really late so I... kinda decided to stop at this small shop near here to buy you an apology gift..." He had explained as Hitoshi looked up towards him again then back at the bag. [Name] flashed Hitoshi a grin, silently urging his indigo haired friend to see what's inside the plastic. "Hope you'll like it Hito-chan."
Hitoshi opened the plastic and had one of his hand to reached inside. There was something small and round. That's what Hitoshi had felt and with curiosity swallowing him whole, the indigo haired male pulled it out. Hitoshi couldn't help but softly smile. On his hand, it was a small keychain. The keychain was shaped like a cat with its paint being purple and had a droppy eyes. There was a small mischievous grin on the cat's face as it stood in two legs while one of its paw was raised to signify it was waving. Oddly enough, Hitoshi thought the small cat was to signify it was him.
"When I saw that... it kinda reminded me of you..." [Name] confessed.
[Name]'s comment made Hitoshi feel something inside. It was sweet, Hitoshi could not lie as he looked at the purple cat keychain on his hand. His [Hair color] haired friend thought of him when he bought this. Maybe he'll not rob [Name] off of his money for being late when they get to this cafe. It made Hitoshi feel happy--
"I mean... it had Hito-chan's tired, grinning face!" Scratch that. [Name] was still the dumbass that he was and the indigo haired male is going to order every expensive stuff to leave him broke.
Hitoshi turned to look at [Name] and would start to nag the [Hair color] haired male's ear off when the male had reached down and took his unoccupied hand and began to walk away, dragging Hitoshi with a smile on his face.
"Now, come on Hito-chan!" [Name] had said. His tone excited and happy as he looked forward and not looking at Hitoshi who walked behind him, a bit dumbfounded from his actions on just dragging him along. "The cafe is a few blocks away from here!"
"You could've had sent me the damn address so I could've waited inside..." Hitoshi bit his bottom lip and rolled his eyes. He tightly held the keychain on his hand as he caught up to his friend's pace.
Now, the indigo haired male walked side by side with the [Hair color] haired male who if Hitoshi would've looked, the indigo haired male would have saw the soft smile on his lips and a pink hue on his cheeks as they walked together towards the direction of the cafe in [Name]'s lead, hand in hand. And if [Name] would've looked at Hitoshi, the [Hair color] haired male would have saw Hitoshi held a small soft smile on his lips.

Tumblr media
It starts with voicemails. You were the first to leave one, and it was on his birthday. You were a nervous wreck. You antagonized over calling. It’s been nearly two months since Harry’s concert in December and neither of you made an effort to reconcile, even if you could. You knew deep down things can’t go back to the way things used to be between the two of you. You broke Harry’s heart and you’re going to live the rest of your life with regret and wondering what could have been.
You don’t blame him for not picking up when you called. He wants nothing to do with you. You missed him terribly and it was all your fault. You were scared and Harry called you out on it, and instead of being happy, you turned the other way. It was the biggest mistake of your life and now you have to live with it.
You were a jittery mess as you dialed his number. It took seven rings before you heard Harry’s automated voicemail. It made your heart race despite the fact it’s prerecorded. “Hey, it’s Harry! Leave a message after the beeeeep!” he sang into the phone before it beeped in your ear.
You let out a hesitant breath of air before talking softly. “Hey, Curly,” you whispered, “it’s me. I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday. I understand why you didn’t pick up. I just… I’m sorry and I miss you. Happy birthday… call me or don’t, I understand.”
Harry leaves you a voicemail almost two weeks later. You were in the middle of your clinicals when he called. It made your heart jump inside your chest. You were dying to answer but you were in the middle of work and couldn’t take any calls while taking care of patients. While you were on your break, you had the chance to listen to Harry’s voice.
“Hey, darling,” his voice was warm in your ears. “Thanks for the birthday wish, it was weird celebrating without you. I miss you too. I’ll come see you soon. Promise.”
The voicemail correspondence goes on for another three weeks before they stop altogether. It hurt more than you cared to admit and you got drunk a few times to forget that you were no longer talking, again. You felt absolutely pathetic. He had every right to be mad at you. You broke his heart. Why would he want to go through that again?
You wallowed and threw yourself a pity party before gathering up the courage to leave one last voicemail. You couldn’t handle the emotional labor Harry was putting you through. He was giving you what you deserved and you hated every second. You were getting a taste of your own medicine.
Like always, it goes to voicemail. You sniffed quietly and let out a defeated sigh. Tears linger on your cheeks. “I don’t know what to say except I’m sorry,” you whispered. “You’re right. I am scared. I am a coward. I do love you. I shouldn’t have pushed you away or said those things. I know there’s nothing else I can say. I love you too, Harry. Goodbye.”
You hung up and cried yourself to sleep, mourning what could’ve been if you hadn’t let fear get in the way.
Now with your voicemail history deleted off your phone, you felt like it was a step in the right direction. You can’t torture yourself with the broken promises Harry left you in late night voicemails because neither of you had the courage to actually talk to each other. You haven’t spoken to each other since that night. You just have to accept that Harry was just a chapter in your life and now you have to move forward.
You’re already busy as it is with clinicals and school while working in the campus bookstore three times a week. It’s easy to distract yourself and not think about Harry and what he’s up to. The last you saw, he released the music video for Falling. You still haven’t watched it. You can’t bring yourself to. You know if you do, it will make you cry.
“You’re spacing again,” your sister, Piper, comments, nudging your foot gently under the table.
You blink out of your thoughts and focus on your older sister. She smiles sympathetically at you before taking a bite out of the sandwich she ordered. Your sister had come down for the weekend to ask you to be her Maid of Honor. You happily and eagerly accepted. She’s your closest confidant and you tell her everything. Piper knows everything that’s happened between you and Harry since December.
“Sorry, Pip,” you apologize, sighing quietly. “What were you saying?”
“I was telling you about Owen’s new job, but you seem preoccupied.”
You frown guiltily. You don’t have the heart to tell your sister that you don’t really care about her fiancé’s new job. Your thoughts always seem to linger on Harry. You hate it. You hate how he still has such a strong hold on you.
“You really miss him, don’t you?”
You sigh, nodding at her. You steal a fry off her plate and chew silently. You feel utterly pathetic. If it was any other man, you would be laughing it off with Harry. It wouldn’t bother you. Harry would tell you that you deserved better and he would buy you your favorite ice cream to help ease your annoyance. It worked every time.
Who would do that for you now that Harry’s the one you’re moping about?
“I called and told the truth. I apologized too. There’s nothing else I can do. It’s not like I can afford to fly wherever he is to force him to talk to me,” you sigh in defeat as you stare out the café window. Angry tears linger at the corners of your eyes. You watch cars race by the busy college streets.
“I’m sorry, Y/n,” your sister reaches for your hand and squeezes gently. You smile weakly before sinking into your chair and pushing away your food. Thinking of Harry and all the mistakes you’ve made over the course of two months makes you lose your appetite. “At least you have me to take care of you when we get drunk out of our minds tonight.”
You laugh softly, nodding in agreement. “I sure do. I’m definitely glad I bought two tickets to ABBA karaoke night instead of one.”
“Me too!”
….
Hours later,  you and Piper find yourselves standing outside Teenage Lobotomy, the karaoke bar not too far from campus or your apartment. You show the bouncer the tickets on your phone as well as your license before he let you inside with a bright pink bracelet. You make a beeline for the bar and order two shots, one for you and one for Piper. You cheer before quickly throwing the liquor to the back of your throat. Piper groans and it makes you laugh before you order a Sex on the Beach.
For the first hour, a band kicks off the event. The alcohol runs through your veins and makes your body warm. You're nursing another Sex on the Beach as you and your sister dance together. She’d only taken the one shot you gave her earlier and has been drinking water since then. The sound of Does Your Mother Know blasts through the speakers and your shouting at the top of your lungs. It was one of your favorite songs and you memorized the dance to it when Mamma Mia was released when you were a teenager. The cheers around you only spur you on further. The host of the event drags you up on the stage and asks for your name.
“Y/n!” you tell him, sipping on your drink. You point to your sister and she laughs. “I’m with my sister, Piper. She just got engaged!”
The crowd cheers and Piper waves bashfully. You drag her up on the stage and she holds you firmly to keep you steady. The host says something to you, but you aren’t listening. You’re too drunk to pay attention to what he has to say. You just want to dance. You chug the rest of your drink and stare at your sister.
“Do you remember the choreography to When I Kissed the Teacher?” you ask her.
She nods carefully. “Yes, why?”
You grin, looking back over to the host. You explain in detail how you and your sister used to dance and knew a choreographed dance to the song you learned as a teenager. The crowd laughed before Piper drags you off the stage. You giggle uncontrollably before she disappears to get you a bottle of water.
You start to dance to Voulez-Vous when you feel a gentle tap on your shoulder. You grin, ready and eager to take the water from your caring sister. Spinning around, your eyes meet the last person you expected to see at Teenage Lobotomy. Harry stands in front of you in all his rockstar glory. He’s wearing an old t-shirt and a pair of jeans. It immediately makes your head spin. Your grin falls from your face and the alcohol rushes straight to your head. It makes you stumble into the barricade. This certainly wasn’t what you pictured your reunion with Harry to be like. You’re too drunk to think rationally and you just wanted to have one fun night without a lingering thought of him at the back of your mind.
He instantly reaches for your waist to steady you, but you immediately press a hand to his chest to keep the space between you. You’re breathing hard and you feel like you’re about to faint, throw up, or both. The bass of the music pounds inside your head and Piper reappears from the bar. Her eyes find yours then follow your gaze towards Harry. Her eyes widen and she curses loudly before pushing her way towards you. She hands you the water bottle before you push your way through the crowd to get out of the bar. The cold air nips at your skin and you turn towards the alleyway beside the bar and puke your guts out. Piper curses loudly before pulling your hair out of your face as you throw up. You spit loudly before sipping the water your sister gave you.
Tears threaten to spill over your cheeks. You just embarrassed the shit out of yourself as well as your poor sister. You won’t remember any of this in the morning. You wipe your mouth with the bottom of your t-shirt and your eyes find Harry’s again. He’s standing in the middle of the sidewalk watching you with careful eyes.
“How did you know I was here?” you spat, leaning on your sister for support as her arm made it around your waist.
“We share our locations with each other, remember?” he tells you, rubbing his arm awkwardly.
Shit. You completely forgot about that. You haven’t checked where he’s been in so long that it didn’t cross your mind to take the permissions away from him. You scoff, rolling your eyes at him. The last thing you want is to have a conversation with him right now. You’re too drunk and you’re starting to get angry. Drunk you wants nothing to do with Harry right now, especially since he’s been ghosting your calls. You deserve better.
“Thanks for reminding me to get rid of that permission when I’m sober.”
Piper starts guiding you to the parking lot and Harry follows closely behind you. She pulls out her phone to call an Uber when Harry gently grasps your sister’s arm. “I can take you back. I drove down from New York with my car,” he tells her as she struggles to keep you from falling out of her grasp.
“Are you sure, Harry? I don’t want to impose,” Piper questions as you silently drink your water. You can’t even look at him in the eyes.
“It’s the least I can do. I can carry her to the car if you can just take my keys and unlock the door f’me.”
She nods and gently hands you off to Harry while he hands her his keys. The car beeps in the parking lot and you struggle in his arms. You don’t want him to touch you. You don’t want to succumb to the feelings you’ve repressed in order to move on from him. You’re too proud and you’re still hurting. You hate it. It makes you feel weak.
“I’m just trying to help you, darling,” he sighed as he carried you to his car. “It’s the least I can do.”
“Don’t call me that,” you snapped. “Don’t try and make me fall at your feet again, not after what you did. I’m tired of playing your games. I’ve done all I can to apologize.”
Harry sighs but doesn’t say anything. Instead, he opens the back door to his car and gently sets you down. He buckles you in before climbing into the driver’s side. Piper slides in beside you before handing the keys back over to Harry. She strokes your hair gently as you stare blankly out the window as Harry pulls out of the parking lot and drives down the street to your apartment. Tears threaten to fall down your face. You don’t want Harry to see you cry. Not when you’re drunk out of your mind.
The five minute drive back to your place is entirely silent on your end. Piper and Harry talk quietly to fill the awkward tension between the two of you. Harry congratulates your sister on her engagement and Piper does the same for his album when he pulls up to the apartment complex. He parks in a guest parking spot before climbing out the car and opening the door to help you out. You don’t say anything besides a quiet thank you when he helps you into your apartment after Piper takes your keys and unlocks the door. She turns the main light on and you groan as Harry pulls you inside. He shuts the door carefully before locking it and kicking his shoes off.
He guides you to the kitchen counter before gently lifting you off the ground and setting you on one of the bar stools. Piper moves quickly in your kitchen, grabbing a glass from one of the kitchen cabinets and filling it up with water. She opens up your medicine cabinet and grabs the bottle of tylenol. She shakes out two pills and puts them in your hand for you to take. You huff childishly before popping them in your mouth and swallowing them with a swig of water. She sighs and turns to Harry.
“Thanks for all the help, Harry,” Piper smiles gently at him. “You can take the couch for the night. I’ll sleep with Y/n. The two of you can talk in the morning when she has a clearer head.”
He nods, thanking her quietly before Piper disappears with you on her arm. The door clicks shut and Harry sighs, collapsing on the comfortable couch beneath him. He tosses and turns all night thinking of you.
The next morning you wake up to an incredible hangover. You don’t remember much from last night. You remember drinking plenty and making it on the stage at one point, but after that it’s all a blur to you. You don’t remember getting home.
You groan loudly, rolling over in bed. You fumble for your phone to see what time it is. It’s almost 11:30. You groan again and wipe at your face. You sister is nowhere to be found in your bedroom and you’re still in the clothes from last night. You change into a pair of old sweats and a raggedy t-shirt. You pull your hair up into a sloppy ponytail before making your way down the hall into the kitchen, expecting your sister to be drinking coffee at the counter.
Instead you find Harry sipping at his coffee and your sister nowhere in sight. Your heart starts to race a mile a minute. Your head starts pounding inside your skull.
“What the hell are you doing here? How did you get in?” you ask him, standing in the middle of the hallway. You don’t bother moving any closer to him.
Harry’s eyes meet yours and he frowns. “Do you remember anything from last night?”
You shake your head. You don’t remember much. It doesn’t take a genius to realize Harry was at the bar with you last night. You squeeze your temple. You don’t have the patience to deal with him right now. It hurts just looking at him. The last thing you want is for him to see you cry.
“What are you doing here?” you ask again, letting out a careful breath. Your voice is even as you speak to him.
Harry sighs, carefully threading his fingers through his hair anxiously. He looks at anything and everything but you. It’s like he’s ashamed. You haven’t seen that look in so long that it almost shocks you.
“I came because I listened to what you said. I heard your apology. I could feel how broken you were and it killed me.”
You shake your head in disbelief. Tears threaten to spill over your cheeks. Harry’s lying straight through his teeth. “You’re lying,” you sniffed, wiping at your wet cheeks. “I left that last voicemail almost three weeks ago. If you really cared, you could’ve called me back. I would’ve answered.  I would’ve been okay with a text too. You left me hanging again. Is this some sort of game to you? You leave voicemails saying all these wonderful things and then you treat me like I don’t exist the next day and it goes on for weeks. I can’t do this anymore. It’s killing me, Harry. It’s exhausting.”
Tears fall freely down your face and your vision blurs. You just want everything to go back to the way it was. You miss having him in your life. You should’ve never gotten too emotionally involved with him when you were still friends. You’re absolutely miserable without your best friend in your life.
Harry takes a careful breath in before taking a hesitant step towards you. Your eyes meet and you don’t move. His shoulders noticeably deflate and he walks towards you until you’re a foot apart. He reaches for you and you allow it. Harry gently caresses your face, brushing away your tears. You turn your head to avoid his eyes.
“Can you look at me, honey?” he asks you in a whisper. His fingers move against your skin softly.
You turn your head and your teary eyes meet his. Harry gently brushes a loose strand of hair behind your ear and you shutter softly.
“I know what I did was wrong. I’m so incredibly sorry. It was childish and immature. I shouldn’t have iced you out when you apologized and told me the truth when you were ready to. I’m sorry. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.”
You wipe your face with the back of your hand before leaping into his arms. You cling to him as if your life depends on it and Harry does the same. He laughs softly in relief as his arms squeeze at your sides as he holds you.
Your lingering tears dampen the crock of his neck as you hug. You feel Harry’s lips press a soft kiss to the side of your head. You let out a gentle cry.
“Please don’t cry. I hate seeing you cry.”
You pull yourself out from his neck and gently card your fingers through his hair. “Of course I’ll forgive you, Harry. I’m sorry too. I hope you can forgive me. I was so stupid. I shouldn’t have said what I did just because I was scared of change, even if it meant that I would be happy and that it was good. I was so mean. I’m sorry, Harry, so, so sorry.”
He smiles at you and it’s the first one you’ve seen from him since you last saw him in December. It makes your heart race. “I know. I forgave you a long time ago and I forgive you now. I’ve missed you so much.”
You nod, hugging him tightly again. You take a deep breath in, breathing him in. It makes you shiver and Harry laughs quietly against the shell of your ear. He sets you back on the ground and you pull away with just enough space to look him in the eyes. He grins, sticking his tongue out at you before wiping the remaining tears off your face.
“I’ve been miserable without you,” you tell him softly as his fingers run over your cheeks and nose, committing the touch to his memory. It makes your heart leap inside of your chest.
“Now that makes two of us,” he laughs. You frown at his response and he pinches your cheeks. “None o’ that. Stop frowning. We’ve made up now, haven’t we?  There’s no need for you to frown like that anymore.”
You nod in silent agreement before he takes your hand and kisses it softly. Your heart races and you squeeze his hand. You reach for his chin and gently press your mouth to his in a soft, romantic kiss. Harry hums in surprise and you quickly pull away.
Heat spreads across your entire body as his eyes open to meet yours. You nervously bite the inside of your cheek and fiddle with your fingers.
“For a second I thought I was going to be the one to make the first move,” he laughs, licking his lips, feeling the taste of you on his mouth linger.
You giggle bashfully and his arms wrap around your waist, pulling you in. Your hands rest on his chest.
“I’m going to kiss you again.”
You nod eagerly and your mouths meet again in a passionate kiss. It ignites something within you, something you’ve never felt before. Harry grins against your mouth and your fingers grasp at his wrinkled t-shirt. His hands roam over your body and pull you closer. A satisfied hum leaves your lips and into his mouth. Harry laughs before slowly pulling his mouth from yours.
His face is flushed a warm pink. You laugh, caressing his face gently. He leans into your touch and presses a kiss to your cheek. Your smile only widens in response and you press a kiss to his forehead.
“I love you, Harry,” you whisper against his warm skin. Your hands roam his body and you press another kiss to his lips.
He holds you tightly and kisses you over and over again until you're giggling against his mouth. He kisses your cheek, “I…” he kisses your forehead, “love…” he kisses your other cheek, “you.” Harry’s mouth meets yours in a gentle kiss and you hold his face in your hand.
Butterflies burst inside of your stomach. His confession, the reciprocation of love, makes you weak in the knees and you cling to him. A lone tear slides down your face and when Harry pulls away and opens his eyes, he frowns again.
“Why’re you crying, baby?”
You laugh and squish his face together before kissing his puckered lips. “They’re happy tears, doofus. I’m happy,” you tell him with a growing grin. “I’m happy you're here. I’m happy you’re giving me, giving us, another chance. Thank you for not giving up on me, even when you could have. I love you Harry.”
Harry’s eyes glisten with unshed tears and he gives you one last passionate kiss before pulling you in for a tight hug. You cling to him and you feel him kiss the top of your head. “ I love you, Y/n,” he whispers softly.
Your knees buckle underneath you, but you’re not afraid to fall. This time you know Harry will always be there to catch you.
He is.
Always.

Part1 Part2 >>
Tumblr media
Almost 3 weeks has passed and this afternoon is your first game of the season. You got to know your new teamates, you learnt that the girl who tried to pick a fight with you on your first day is Ahn Jiha, a year below you, and is part of the team. She made it very clear that you don't have your place there, trying to make you trip and fall, stealing your clothes, locking you in the locker room.
As for Felix, he continued to apologise and tried to be nicer to people. That wasn't always easy, but he managed to not fight since you arrived.
You became really close to Eunbin, and she quickly became one of your greatest friend. As for Chanhee, he was very shy the first time he met you, but after Felix's apology, he opened up to you, told everything that happened with Felix, how he met Eunbin, and how greatfull he was that you transferred to this school. You guys cried a lot that day, but became very close after that.
With your tuition, you bought new clothes, and saved a bit for new handball outfits.
You enter the classroom with your new pair a sneakers, greeted your classmates and made your way to your sit. At your surprise, Felix was already at his desk, smiling at you.
"You look really pretty" he says, leans his head on his arm, looking at you.
"Good morning to you too Felix." You say, siting at your desk. Eunbin and Chanhee quickly joins you.
"Today's your first game, right ?" Eunbin says, taking a sit in front of you.
"Yes ! It's just against some school nearby, not a big game, but it's a chance for me to show my level."
"I heard you were really good at handball" Chanhee says, siting in front of Felix
"Haha, I don't know if I'm really good, but my skills got me a scholarship so I guess I'm not half bad" you say, smiling at Chanhee.
"We'll all be hear to cheer for you Y/N, eight Chanhee ?"
"Yeah ! We made banners and signs yesterday, I hope you get really embarrassed but still feel our love and support" Chanhee, making his friends laugh.
"I'll be there too, by the way"
You three turns to Felix.
"We know, Felix, you've been telling the whole school to come to the game, otherwise they'll have to face you." Eunbin says
"Uh- well yeah, I gotta support my girl"
You look at Felix. "Your girl-"
"Well threatening students is not the best way" Eunbin glares at Felix.
"Yeah yeah whatever, it worked soo :)"
Eunbin sighes, knowing she won't win.
You get to the field with your team, the whole school cheering for you. You start the game and quickly realized two things : 1, your opponent are REALLY bad, they have no coordination, the game is already won, and 2, Jiha is trying to do everything to make you fail, which is dumb because your in the same team. I wish she could just leave me alone and focue on the game, she's so stupid I swear.
The game is pretty boring, your team is leading of 10 points, and there's only 1 minute left to the game. You take the ball to score a last point, making a perfect 5-15. You run to the goal, noticing Jiha blocking a player, making the way for you. You run next to her, jump to throw the ball, but feel a arm hit your legs, making you fall forward, hitting your knee hard on the floor. You're pretty sure you heard a loud noise coming from your said knee. You look above you, making eye contact with Jiha smirking at you. This bitch-
You didn't had time to say a word as you saw someone grabbing Jiha's collar.
"What do you think you're doing ?!"
"F-Felix ?.. w-what do you mean, I-"
Felix was looking extremely mad, almost grabbing her off the ground he clearly noticed what Jiha had done. And she seemed very scared.
"I saw you ! You did it on purpose ! I'm gonna make you pay for this"
As Felix put his first up, you quickly grabbed at his arm
"Felix no! Don't do this"
As you touched his arm, Felix realized where he was ans what he was doing, letting go of Jiha who quickly ran away.
Soon afterx the coach arrived, taking Felix aside as you went to the infirmary.
"Lee Felix, what do you think you're doing ? Were you going to punch this student ? And what for, uh ?"
"This girl made Y/N fall on purpose."
The coach seemed shocked "What did you say?"
"I saw it, Eunbin and Chanhee saw it too. She swang her arm and hit Y/N's legs to make her fall. She's been a nightmare to her since she got here. Jiha needs to be punished."
"And why didn't Y/N told me about it ?"
"Because she hates bullies, and don't wanna have to do anything with them.."
The coach sighed. "Thank you for telling Felix, I'll punish Jiha for her actions, but you can't go around and try to beat students up, even if you're very angry, got it?"
To the coach surprised, Felix noded and bowed to her goodbye before leaving.
He ran to the infirmary, not seeing you. He got to his class searching for you, but only found Eunbin packing your stuff.
"Eunbin ! Where is Y/N ?"
"She went to the hospital, apparently she broke her knee, the ambulance just felt, you just missed her."
"Do you know which hospital-"
"You don't need to go, she'll be fine, she won't stay there very long, just the time to get her cast. Also, her uncle is with her. She'll be back tomorrow, okay ?"
Felix looked really concerned, but noded and sat down.
"What you can do is get her stuff to her house, I said I was gonna do it but maybe you'll see her at home ?"
Felix looked at Eunbin, smiling.
Felix was in his car, driven by his driver, looking for your apartment. Felix never visited this part of town, it's just behind his neighborhood, but looks very different. There's no big houses, lights, parcs, here is just crappy apartments, drug dealers, dark allies. Felix gets to your apartment ans knocks on the door, your bags in hand.
To his surprised, a small boy opens the door.
"You must be Y/N's friend, thank you for getting her stuff."
"And who are you?"
"Junho, Y/N's cousin, she's not here, if you're wondering. Thank you for getting her stuff."
Junho reaches out his hand, grabbing your bags, closing the door behind him.
"You're.. welcome I guess.."
The next day, you got to school with crutches. Felix, who was waiting for you at the entrance, quickly grabbed your bag.
"It's fine, I can hold it-"
"No you can't, come on let's go inside."
Felix helped you sit, and got your stuff out of your bag.
"Felix stop." Felix looks at you. "Just- stop."
"Y/N what do you-"
"I can deal with myself, okay ?? I don't need you to hold my bag, are help me sit, or beat someone up. You almost got me out of the team, you know that ?? I could've got in serious trouble, and I still can. This Jiha girl is definitely gonna come after me because of what you did ! So just- leave me alone !"
You were very mad at Felix yesterday, and stilm are. I'll definitely get in serious trouble, jeez why do I have to pay for his mistakes ??
Felix looked at you, looking hurt, but he understood.
She's right... She could've got in trouble...
"I got it, I won't bother you again.. sorry Y/N..."
For the ehole day, Felix tried to stay as far from you as possible. You started to feel bad, was I too harsh on him ?..
The next day, when you entered the class, the same beam of light appeared behind you as the first day Felix met you. You were smiling, with your hair down, blushy cheeks, and glossy lips.
I can't do it. I can't let her go.
"Y/N." Felix says, standing beside you. "I know I saud that I'll leave you alone, but I can't stay away from you.."
"Felix..."
Then, Felix got on his knees, looking down.
"Please forgive me Y/N!"
You strated to feel your cheek go red as you bent down to get Felix to stand up.
"Stop this Felix this is really embarrassing."
You sigh and look at Felix.
"I forgive you, but I really don't need your help, okay ?"
Felix quickly nods "I promise I won't help you!"
You sigh again and go take a sit.
You're walking down the hallway to go to practice, your heavy bag on one shoulder. You see from far away Felix walking, looking down at his phone, and another student, walking quickly with a big pile of papers and books. You soon realise that the student can't see where is walking, and is going straight to Felix, who bumps onto him hard, making the srudent fall.
"Oh oh..."
Felix looks down at the student, emotionless, as he looks at the papers and books.
Felix, no, don't get mad please. You try to run but your knee hurst to bad. You watch the scene, walking as fast as possible to stop Felix from beating the student up.
Felix gets down, reach for the student, grabs him by the colar to get him back on his feet. Thsi boy seem so scared, apologising like crazy, but to your surprise, Felix brushes the dist away from the boy's uniform, and bent down again to pick up the papers.
Uh ?..
"Where are you going with all this?"
"T-t-the t-teacher of-f-fice"
"Let me help you with that."
Felix picks up the pile of papers, giving it to the boy, then grabs the heavy books. He turns around towards you, walking to the teachers office, and notice you.
"Oh ? Y/N, Hi ! Are you going to practice ?"
"Uh? Oh yeah.."
"Hey- can you, wait for me here ? I'll be there in no time."
"O-okay" you say, as Felix strats running to the teachers office, followed by the boy, also running.
You si in the hallway and waits for Felix. Not so long after, Felix comes back, still running. He then crouches in front of you.
"Felix, what are you doing ?"
"Get on my back."
"What ?"
"Come on, get on my back. I saw you struggling to walk, so get one my back."
Felix grabs your back, putting it on his shoulder, and waits for you to get on his back. You wrap your arms around his neck, as he gently grabs your legs. He gets up and walks towards the gym.
"You don't have to do this.."
"But I want to."
"Why ?"
"Because I love you."
"Uh- Felix that's not-" you sigh "it's not because I said that it's love-"
"I know I know, but I already told you, I love you. And I'll make you love me too. I can't let you go, I can't just give up on you."
You feel your cheeks get hotter, and look at him. First the first time, you understand him.
The sun was dancing around his features, you could see his freckles and long lashes. His eyes were glowing as well as his skin. You felt his muscles working, but the time seemed to have stopped.
Arrived at the gym, Felix lets you get down on the ground and hands you your bag.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Y/N" he says, before turning around to leave.
"Felix wait !"
He turns around back to you, as you quickly kiss him on the cheek.
"See you tomorrow" you say, smiling at him, then going to the locker room.
....what just happened ?

CHAPTER 2
That was a damn workout. The club was divided into half for the second meeting. You girls had decided to learn a choreography by the Korean girl group; Twice, namely the choreo of I Can’t Stop Me. The boys decided to dance Stray Kids’ God’s Menu. They were pretty good. Except for Aoyama who pretty much made up his own steps. He said he wanted to stand out no matter what. And he had just joined recently.
“Everybody, on the next Friday, I’ll be teaching the choreo that will be done by partner. Club session over!”
“Wait- Mina what?”
She faced you. “Oh, girlie I remember I paired you with Katsuki right?”
“Yeah, but can’t we be partners?” You asked.
“No can do,” She waved her head. “I’m sorry, but the two of us are already close. And we do this partner thing to get the members of the club together. This is how I made our circle of friends.” She added with a grin.
Lastly she said; “Plus I need you and Bakugo to hang-out so you could fix your constant bickering. You always fight with each other. May it be in the classroom, the hallway...You can can bicker about anything; anywhere! You never run out of topics to bicker about! Anyway, I have to meet Momo now- she’d been calling me for the past hour, BYE!!!” And she fled to who knows where.
You sighed. You’d have to deal with the freak with the anger issues more.
The weekend came over fast, the weekdays passed by faster, ‘til it was Friday again. It’s the Friday wherein Mina teaches the partner dance.
Aizawa had to consume 20 mins of your time before you could finally get to club meeting. You texted Mina in advance. After the talk with Aizawa regarding your quirk, you arrive at the meeting 20 mins late as expected. When you opened the door, everybody was with their partner, except for Bakugo who stood up from his seat when he saw you. He kept his frown on while he dragged you to an open space to start as Mina repeated Corazon Sin Cara for another round of practice.
You were clueless about why he had dragged you there, since you didn’t know the steps yet.
“Just follow my lead.” He stated, positioning you into how Mina was positioned with her partner Kirishima, then you hear the Bachata music play.
He did not touch your torso with his hands, but he showed you how you were supposed to move your hips. He placed his thigh between your legs as your hips moved. You felt heat rush up to your face. No one had ever been close to you like that. Not a male, to say the least. You felt awkward and stepped back a little, earning yourself a questioning look on his face. But he respected the space you have created between you.
Although he was a good dancer, he definitely was NOT a good teacher. You evidently pissed him off which in return annoyed annoyed the hell out of you because of how ill-tempered he was with teaching.
“I told you to go this way!!!” he yelled.
“Then this way I shall go!” You mocked.
He got fed of how sarcastic you were and you got completely pissed off by how he always raised his voice at you.
You decided you were ready to leave. But he decided he wanted to leave as well. You clashed at the door, fighting over who should be the first one to go through the door. No one won eventually. You both fit through the door at the same time. You went to the direction of where the dorms were headed, and he followed.
“Stop following me you prick!” You shouted at him as your pace went quicker.
“I’m not following you stupid!” He growled as he ran to the dorm.
And since you also were as childish and competitive as him, you raced with him to the dorms.
~
The next 6 days passed by, and it was Friday once again. You tried to dance. You forced yourself, you weren’t like this during practice. You usually were enthusiastic during club meetings. You didn’t know the reason behind your fatigue. Maybe because of the lack of sleep caused by the overnight studying for the exams? Extra training hours with you class adviser? Playing sports with your new friends Tokoyami, Todoroki, and Ojiro?
They were all factors, but you didn’t exactly know which of them caused you to be like this. Bakugo noticed your state.
Practice finally ended. You sat down the floor drinking water and leaned against the cold wall behind you. You closed your eyes for a short while, but hadn’t you known you were slowly drifting off to sleep.
The clock showed the digits “7:00”.
You had finally woken up. That was when you noticed a familiar song playing on the speakers. It was Pony by Ginuwine. You scratched your eyes and tried to unblurry your vision. Then you looked up to the familiar figure in front of you doing isolation moves. You realized he was dancing the pony dance from Magic Mike. You were surprised to see him dance like this. This dance style was pg-18. When danced by normies or non-dancers, this dance would look funny. But he made it look good. He got every step right, each move landing on each beat precisely. You were blown away. For the first time, you noticed how hot he was. Most especially since he was wearing his infamous black tank top.
Bakugo was passionate when it came to dancing. You saw that as you watched him move. You tried to keep as quiet as you can, for him not to notice you. You saw him do a few body rolls, hip thrusts, before the song had finally ended. Then he met your eyes through the mirror in front of him. You thought you saw him blush for a while, but when you blinked for a sec, it was gone.
“Sleeping stupid has finally awoken. Get your ass up here. You wasted three hours of my time. We have to polish our dance. I don’t want to lose to Kirishima.” He called you that every time you awoken from a nap. It was supposed to be sleeping beauty, but he changed the latter word thinking he’s funny. And lose to Kirishima? Everything really is a competition for this chonky-haired asshole.
Ashamed, you stood up. And finally, you were feeling okay. No more dizziness.
Then you noticed that it was the only two of you that remained in the club room.
“Where are the others?” you asked.
“At the dorms already.” He snarled. “If you hadn’t slept and wasted our time then we would’ve been at the dorms right now.”
“I’m sorry,” you said, taking him aback. It was the first time you’ve said that to him. You always bickered, but you’ve never said sorry to him afterwards. You were quite vulnerable today.
You walked to his spot, positioned yourself, maintaining the distance you’ve created like you always did every single time you practiced this partner dance routine. But this time, he didn’t tolerate it. He groaned while he pulled you closer to him. You were a little shocked, as this was the first time he touched your hips.  Held, as a matter of fact. He trained how your hips were supposed to move to the beat. He literally said: ‘Fuck consent’. Mad man. His teaching skills had improved. And he didn’t shout at you anymore. Maybe because he finally got tired of messing with you.
You two stopped when you were both tired and worn out. (ooh~) You finally were able to dance to the rhythm accordingly. He was about to exit the door when you called out his nickname.
“Kacchan!” He stopped. It was the first time you called him that.
You too, were taken aback. You expected him to throw a tantrum and go on a rampage and shout to you about how you should stay in your lane. But he didn’t. He only answered calmly with a;
“What.”
Little did you know, the ash blonde liked it very much when that nickname of his came out of your mouth. He didn’t know why. He just fancied it.
“I-I, can’t walk alone in the dark...” You muttered softly, almost inaudible.
“And why the fuck? What do you want me to do then, carry you?”
You thought at this time of the day- or night, perhaps, he would already be tamed and be too tired to snarl back comments.
But no, ‘This blonde’s pride and ego will never wear out.’ You thought to yourself. You mustered your courage, told yourself to be brave, and hissed at him before facing towards the direction of the dorm and walking that path.
“Fine then! I hope you get taken away by some villain or whatever and just disappear! Why do you have to be so mean at all times?” The throbbing head pain came back to you, and along came the mild dizziness.
“Ugh, as if.” He retorted back even though he felt guilt wash over him.
The guy just couldn’t keep his mouth shut. Bakugo waited for you to get a little farther, before he walked behind you, lighting up a few sparks from his hand to keep your little friends sane. You had a quirk similar to Tokoyami. Differences were; what you had were wolves, and they have the ability to detach from you. If you didn’t have enough power, they would refuse to listen to you, and they could go haywire, damaging your environment including you also. They actively bugged you during the night, whenever moonlight shone on your skin they would sense it and you’d hear them howling in your head pleading for freedom. But because of Bakugo behind you, which you were oblivious of, their howling aren’t as bad as usual. How was Bakugo aware of all this? He had been observing you since you’ve beat him at the UA sports festival.
Then you tripped. Face first on the ground. Suddenly you heard a burst of laughter.
“HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA WTF HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN HOW TO WALK?!! HAHAHAHAHHAHA”
“SHUT IT YOU DUMB FUCK YOU LOOK LIKE A MONKEY LAUGHING LIKE THAT” you went loose. Maybe you went a little too far. Uh-oh. He stopped. You knew you were in trouble. You got up and tried to run for your dear life but you suddenly fell down again. And another burst of laughter was heard. This time you had no more power to lash out on him and you cried. You were so tired of that day, and your head throbbed endlessly, plus the fact that your knees are now bleeding because of scraping them on the pavement twice.
The blonde freak’s laughter went to a halt and ran to you. He saw your knees and he quickly wrapped his handkerchief on the left. He wrapped the tank top he got from his bag around the right one. Then he put his bag in front of him and pulled you up on his back. Tears had stopped flowing from your eyes, and suddenly, your stomach was contaminated with butterflies. You did not complain, you remained silent as his feet continued to walk toward the dorms.
*after an almost not-so-awkward-walk in silence
He let you get down from his back. You already were at the building. You wouldn’t admit it to yourself but you wished the walk had been longer.
“Clean yourself up.” He said before he left you outside. The girls from your class approached you with worried expressions on their faces. They talked to you and interrogated you, then led you inside to help you get ready for bed.

izuku finally leaves kirishima’s room at the end of the 30 minutes. all the red head did was harass izuku; touched his face, his chest, and his thighs (dangerously close to you-know-what).
izuku shoved his hand away when it wandered to his thigh. kirishima has only laughed with that disgusting smirk of his. he’s so glad he’s finally escaped.
but a tad bit too late.
“deku? what the fuck are you doing here?”
izuku yelped and jumped away from the door. he spun around to see katsuki with a glare on his face. the blond’s eye was already twitching and izuku can guess his palms were starting to sweat, too.
“o-oh! hey kacchan! didn’t see you there!” izuku smiles nervously and he hopes kacchan doesn’t notice.
in fact, it’d be best to just leave this floor of the dorm.
katsuki was about to respond when his boyfriend grabs his hand. he’s suddenly being pulled to the elevator and izuku pushes the button, dragging him inside and heading to his room 2 floors up.
“deku, what the fuck? what’s going on? why were you at shitty hair’s room?” katsuki asks, not liking the silence from the usually talkative boy.
izuku looked up at the blond. there were tears in his eyes threatening to spill over as his bottom lip trembled. katsuki’s gaze softened as he brought his hand up to cup izuku’s cheek.
gently, katsuki speaks, “talk to me, babe. i can’t help if you don’t talk.”
izuku opens his mouth to speak, but nothing comes out. the elevator doors open with a ding.
“come on, izuku.” katsuki’s gentle tone is soothing and quite a stark contrast to his usual speaking voice. the blond leads them to izuku’s room and locks the door.
katsuki helps izuku get ready for bed then does the same. he cuts the lights and gets into bed, immediately bringing the green haired boy into his arms.
and izuku finally lets go.
he cries and cries into the blond’s broad chest. katsuki holds him and lets him, softly kissing his head. he doesn’t know what’s got his boyfriend so worked up but he doesn’t like it. katsuki hates when izuku cries, this boy doesn’t deserve it.
even when they were kids, he felt guilty for always making izuku cry. sure, katsuki acted tough and cool in front of his friends but once he was home he felt bad. tears don’t belong on that cute face. only smiles.
after a good 30 minutes, izuku’s cries turn into quiet sniffles. katsuki continues to rub his back until he’s ready to talk or not.
there was a quiet sigh and izuku’s grip on his boyfriend’s shirt tightened. “i-i’m sorry... i didn’t m-mean get snot a-all over you.”
“its whatever. are you alright?”
“maybe? i could be better.” izuku sniffles again and clears his throat.
“yeah, i bet, babe. can i see you? i miss your cute face.”
a wet chuckle comes from izuku and he responds, “my face is anything but cute right now, but sure. don’t say i didn’t warn you.”
he moves away a little bit to look up at katsuki. the blond didn’t say anything right away, just stared. izuku’s eyes were rimmed red, still glossy, and his nose was red.
izuku pouts and goes to hide his face again. “see? i’m so ugly right now you can’t even say it.”
katsuki chuckles lowly and gently holds izuku’s face. he wipes the corners of the emerald eyes as he sees tears threatening to spill. he grabs the collar of his own shirt to wipe at the leftover snot.
izuku scrunches his nose at him, “kacchan that’s gross.”
the blond only smiles. “yeah so what? gotta keep this beautiful face clean.”
“i’m not-“
“no no, shut up. you look absolutely stunning all the time. you take my breath away every time i see you and i love it. even right now, you’re so adorable and pretty. you’re amazing all around, don’t forget that, nerd.”
izuku laughs breathlessly and shakes his head slightly. “dammit kacchan. you’re gonna make me cry again. i didn’t think i’d ever hear those words from you.”
“and why is that?”
izuku looks at him with an amused expression. “have you met yourself?”
katsuki scowls and clicks his tongue. “what the fuck does that mean? i can be nice, you damn idiot!”
laughter erupts in the room, loud and melodic. izuku covers his mouth as he continues to laugh, making katsuki fight back a smile. he’s supposed to be mad right now.
“hey, idiot stop laughing at me! i’m serious!”
“y-yeah i know! but kacchan-“ izuku coughs a bit from laughing too hard and attempts to stop, “kacchan you can’t be nice to anyone who isn’t me!”
“what the fuck! yes i can!”
“you can’t!”
“i can!”
“you’re barely nice to the teachers. the ones you’re supposed to be nice to.”
“i’m better now than in first year. i was a fucking asshole back then.”
“you still are.”
“not as bad, though. right?”
izuku smiles up at him and kisses his nose. “right. you’re better now and i’m proud of you.”
“fuck, you’re so cute.”
before he could respond, izuku’s lips are snatched up in a kiss. he smiles automatically as he kisses katsuki back.
kissing the blond had always felt so surreal to izuku. he’s dreamed about it for almost his whole life; wondered what it felt like, what katsuki tasted like. and now that it’s happening, he’s addicted.
katsuki pulls away first and rests his forehead against izuku’s. the green haired boy pecks katsuki’s lips once, twice then a third time.
“i love extra kisses from you, but why?” katsuki asks.
izuku shrugs nonchalantly. “i just love you so much.”
“i love you too, dumbass,” katsuki pecks his lips again, “now... can we talk about what you were doing in shitty hair’s room?”
izuku’s smile immediately fell and he anxiously bit his lip. “n-nothing important. just homework.”
he tries to smile to reassure katsuki, but it was crooked and held no emotion. katsuki didn’t like this answer or the look in his boyfriend’s face.
“if it was just homework you wouldn’t be so worked up right now. tell me, izuku. don’t lie to me.”
katsuki didn’t understand. what is he hiding? and why won’t he just tell him? it’s worrying katsuki and he doesn’t want to think that izuku doesn’t trust him.
izuku’s eyes were watering as he struggled to get the words out that were caught in his throat. his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water.
“i- he-“ he choked out. katsuki rubs his back trying to soothe him.
“hey, izuku. it’s okay, babe. take your time. i’m here for you.”
it took a few minutes for izuku to relax. once he did he sat up, katsuki following suit. he turned the side lamp on.
izuku grabs katsuki’s hands in his. “kacchan... i-i need you to listen to me. you may get upset and run off but i need you to be here with me and hear me out, okay? please?”
so many thoughts were swimming through katsuki’s head about what he’s about to be told. most of them weren’t pleasant at all and he hates that his boyfriend is feeling this way.
so, he just nods and squeezes izuku’s hands. “okay, i promise. i’m here, i won’t leave you.”
izuku nods. “thank you,” he pauses and takes a deep breath, “it’s been a week. he’s been staring and watching. he didn’t do anything... until a few days ago. he texted me, asking to help him with homework. of course i agreed, i’m too nice,” a bitter chuckle left izuku’s lips.
“i was a little skeptical at first but that went away when we actually started doing homework. so, i helped him and we talked a little, just joking around. i guess i must’ve said something to set him off. next thing i know, i’m on the floor and-“ he takes a shaky breath before continuing.
“he’s on top of me-“
“WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!”
izuku jumps a bit at katsuki’s outburst. he feels heat coming from the blond’s palms, but he doesn’t pull away.
“kacchan, please-“ izuku begins to say, wanting to calm him down before he did something stupid.
“WHO THE FUCK DOES HE THINK HE IS? IM GOING TO FUCKING KILL HIM! I SWEAR!”
“kacchan! shut up!” izuku shook katsuki by the shoulders to get him to listen. the blond is seething as he stares at izuku, breathing heavily and clenching his smoking fists.
“kacchan, just listen to me, please. calm down, let me finish.” izuku pleaded, almost desperate.
katsuki was quiet for a moment, then he nodded once. “okay, fine. i’m not calm but i’ll listen. i’m sorry, izuku.”
“it’s fine, kacchan,” he kisses the blond’s knuckles. he lets out a sigh and continues, “he didn’t do anything to me. just... touched me-“
“where?”
“um, here,” izuku touched his side under his shirt, “i think he kissed my neck? i’m not sure but he was really close... and- and then he...”
katsuki watches as his trembling boyfriend slowly brings a hand up to his own neck. he was starting to see red, wanting to absolutely murder kirishima for touching his izuku. he can’t believe this.
izuku moves his hand away from his neck, noticing that katsuki understood what he meant.
“is there more...?” katsuki asks, afraid of the answer.
izuku nods solemnly. “i begged for him to stop and get off. i-i couldn’t... do anything. i was in shock, i could barely speak. i’ve never had anyone... touch me like that. i wanted to kacchan, trust me. i wanted to push him off but i- i-“
“hey, hey calm down,” katsuki pulls the shorter into his lap and hugs him close. he kisses his temples and says, “it’s okay, i know. i’m not upset, baby.”
the green haired boy looks up into katsuki’s red eyes. they’re filled with anger and sadness. “you’re not?”
the blond shakes his head. “no, never at you. at shitty hair, yeah definitely.”
“okay, then. good. but, yeah that happened. i told him if he’d let me go, i wouldn’t tell anyone. he choked me harder to ensure i’d keep my promise. after that he let me go.”
katsuki lets out a loud breath through his nose. “i’ll fucking kill him. i swear i will. i won’t stop exploding him until he’s fucking dead.”
izuku shook his head. “kacchan, no. please, don’t fight him. he’ll just use his quirk, and it’ll be a long, drawn out fight.”
“i don’t fucking care! i’ll fight as long as i need to! he has a fucking limit anyway.”
“and so do you!” izuku is glaring at his boyfriend now, trying to get him to see. “i don’t want you to get hurt, kacchan. i know you can take care of yourself and all that shit but i just- please don’t. okay?”
katsuki grits his teeth and looks to the side for a moment. he finally gives in and heaves a sigh. “fine, whatever. what were you doing in there a while ago?”
“before that, he would text me sometimes. to make sure i hadn’t told anyone and to just say weird things. and just now, he texted me to come to his room. i told him no and he threatened me. i don’t know what he knows when i literally don’t do anything. so i just went since he was gonna bother me about it. he touched me again... said some things-“
“like what?” katsuki grits out, already not liking where this is going.
“he just kept saying how bad he wants me and that he’d treat me better than you. but i’m not dumb, you know. he meant it... sexually. he almost touched me... down there but i smacked his hand away. he kept saying things like that and then let me leave when you got home. i didn’t mean for you to see me because you’d probably just blow up and you were about to until i started crying. i’m so sorry kacchan. i wanted to tell you sooner but i couldn’t. every time i tried, nothing came out.”
katsuki listens and takes it all in. he’s incredibly pissed off and wants to beat that red haired fuck into a bloody pulp. he also hates himself for not noticing sooner and asking izuku about it. knowing he could’ve helped his boyfriend sooner makes him feel like absolute shit. he didn’t do his job right as his boyfriend, his protector. he promised himself when they were in elementary school that he’d always protect izuku. now, he failed and the smaller boy is sitting in his lap crying and apologizing.
“izuku... i promise it’s okay. i’m not mad at you. i understand why you didn’t tell me, you were scared. i get it. i’m just mad at that fucker and myself. i didn’t protect you like i should have. i should’ve noticed something... anything! but i didn’t and i’m sorry. i’m so fucking sorry, baby.”
izuku is already close to crying, but seeing his usually big tough bad boy near tears sets him off. the tears go down quick but katsuki is quicker to wipe them away. he smiles small.
“pretty boys shouldn’t cry.” he mumbles.
izuku wipes the corner of katsuki’s eye when he sees a tear on the edge of his lid. “yeah, they shouldn’t.”
a blush appears on the blond’s cheeks at the subtle compliment. he looks away embarrassed and izuku giggles.
“shut the hell up, nerd. what are you gonna do now hm? tell principal nezu, right?”
izuku sighs. “yeah, i am. but let’s not talk about that right now. it’s midnight and i’m tired. you had work tonight so i’m sure you’re tired as well.”
he caresses katsuki’s cheek with a tired smile. he lets out a (cute) yawn and gets off of his boyfriend to lie down. katsuki does the same after turning off the lamp. they hold each other close, feeling safe and loved.
“did you tell your dumbass friends?” katsuki whispers.
izuku yawns (cutely) again and shakes his head. “tomorrow after school. night kacchan. thank you for listening to me. i love you so much.”
katsuki smiles and kisses his forehead. “i love you too, nerd. sleep well.”
the next morning, there is tension in the air as the students eat breakfast. there’s the usual chatter between momo and tenya about school plans, sero and denki arguing about is it better to sleep naked or not, and mina showing all the tiktoks she’d seen.
but the tension was high.
everyone tries their best to ignore it, but shoto can’t. he notices that bakubitch is closer to izuku more than ever. the blond’s arm has been around his best friend’s since they came downstairs together. they whisper to each other, which is normal but shoto doesn’t see smiles or hear izuku’s quiet giggles.
shoto also doesn’t gloss over the subtle looks kirishima is giving the couple. sometimes it was a glare or a longing stare. the couple mostly ignores it, but shoto saw bakubitch give the red head some certain looks a couple of times.
he’s sitting a few seats away from the couple today because of the tension. shoto had told denki as well, which is why the idiot is at another table with sero.
after breakfast, the students gathered their things to head to school. as they were walking out in different groups, shoto waited for izuku to come out. once he did, shoto pulled him to the side.
“whoa, hey! what’s up, sho?” izuku asks, mildly concerned.
hands are immediately on izuku’s face, one cold and the other warm. shoto studies the shorter’s face, turning his head to the sides and then up and down.
“uhh, sho, you good?” izuku asks through his slightly squished lips.
shoto finally speaks, “just checking. are you good? you look like shit. i didn’t check on you last night. did you sleep enough? you look like you’ve been crying. why is that?”
izuku rolls his eyes and pushes shoto’s hands away. “listen, mom, i’m fine. kacchan and i had a talk last night and i cried. but we’re okay now.”
“promise?”
“i promise. oh! i have something important to tell you and kami after school. meet in my room?”
shoto nods. “yeah, okay. i’ll tell kami.”
“hey! do you plan on letting him go any time soon, icyhot? we’re gonna fucking be late!” katsuki’s voice rang in the empty entrance of the dorms.
this is when izuku noticed him and shoto were holding hands. when izuku had smacked his hands away, he subconsciously held onto them.
“nah, i’ll think hold him a bit longer. you don’t mind right? let’s go izu, we can’t be late.” shoto begins dragging izuku to the sidewalk leading to school.
izuku only laughs and follows his best friend, holding his hand tightly. katsuki yells behind them as he chases them down the street using his explosions and shoto making an ice path, skating on it like Frozone with izuku holding onto him tightly.
despite them having fun, shoto couldn’t help but feel like something bad is going to happen. _______________
