wordcount: 1,063
masterlist
it didn’t take much begging for you to convince satoru to go stargazing with you. after being together for a little over a year, it’s one of the only dates you’d always dreamed of that he hadn’t realized already.
“it’s gonna be hot isn’t it” he pouted and you smiled, watching as he slipped a white t shirt on.
“it’s summer, what do you think?” you teased, giddy as you continued to curate the playlist on your phone.
“i cant believe four seasons have passed with you already” he sighs, a bit dreamy as he takes a seat next to you on the bed, resting his chin on your shoulder and pressing a soft kiss to your cheek.
“time really does fly huh?” you smiled, fondly recalling numerous memories from the past year. “remember when you set that picnic up for our first date and we got rained on” you giggled, satoru’s face flushed at the memory. even a year later he was mortified.
“stop that was so embarrassing! it was so sunny i didn’t think it’d rain” he whined, nuzzling his head into your neck, “cant believe you went on a second date with me after that mess” he smiled.
he remembers the soggy sandwiches and all too sticky candies, the way your hair was absolutely ruined as the rained poured down on the two of you, drenched to the bone when you reached the car.
“i thought it was kinda sweet how you tried to protect me from the rain” you smiled, the image of the then frazzled satoru coming to mind.
an hour later the two of you find yourselves in the car, satoru putting the very same picnic basket in the back seat, filled to the brim with food and blankets. he’s settling into the drivers seat and you rattle off items you made sure to not forget, smiling when he tells you everything’s there.
satoru had never gone stargazing. he can only recall looking at the sky after battles and thinking of how dark and lonely it was. glimmering stars miles and miles away from him. vague memories of times he’d brushed too close to death, laying on the ground and twinkling stars mocking him as his breathing became more shallow.
and now here he is, sitting with you on his car hood as the sun sets, the sky didn’t feel dark and lonely anymore.
there’s warm colors all around him, from the pinks and reds of the sky to the sage t shirt you were wearing. your smile felt warm as you complimented his sandwich, claiming ‘it must’ve been the love’ which he made it with to make it taste so good.
it’s twenty minutes after the sun had set when he realizes it’s blue hour, turning to you with a smile, “guess what hour it is” he grins, eyes sparkling as you immediately pick up his cues.
“blue hour!” you smile, giggling as the two of you break into song, laughing when one of you messes the lyrics up, blaming the other for singing too late.
a year ago he would’ve glanced at the outside, seen the blue hues painting the world and gone about his day. now he sees it and smiles, giddy anytime he reads ‘5:53’ on a clock. memories of the first time you told him it was ‘blue hour’ flashing in his mind, he didn’t really understand exactly what that implied but he shared your excitement either way, only later asking you what it meant.
your snacks are long gone when the stars begin to peek out from the dark blanket of the sky, twinkling ever so slightly when you look up.
“oh they’re so pretty!” you gush, a smile painting your features as you lean onto satoru, laughing when he tries to come up with new constellations.
“that’s the Big Dipper, that much I’m sure of” he states, a bit upset he didn’t have more knowledge to woo you with.
“i think that’s the Little Dipper” you laugh, taking his hand and pointing at the constellation a bit further, “that’s the Big Dipper.”
Gojo’s eyes are peeling away from the sky, instead looking at you, as if you held the stars in your very being. he’s humming in agreement as you make a comment about the stars, some insane fact you read about the other day. he’s hanging on your every word, savoring every passing second that he’s by your side.
when he looks up at the sky, the stars no longer mock him when they twinkle. instead it felt as if they were cheering for him, dancing for joy because he finally found someone to love with every fiber of his being.
your head is resting on his chest as the two of you lay down, soft conversation flowing easily, gasping when you both see a shooting star.
your eyes squeeze closed, your mind racing as you come up with what to wish for.
satoru’s eyes stay open, landing softly on you. his mind doesn’t race and he knows immediately what he wants. he wants to be with you for the as long as he could, to fall deeper and deeper in love with you. he wants four more passing seasons with you, and four after that, and after that, and after that.
he’s carrying your now sleeping body out of the car and into his home, placing you on the couch while he unloads the car. he wakes you gently to get you changed, smiling fondly at your sleepy state, brushing his teeth alongside you and smiling when you yawn as soon as your head hits the pillow.
“gnight toru” you mumble, “today was perfect” you smile, a bit sleepy as you cuddle closer to your lover.
“goodnight sweets” he smiles, pressing a kiss to your forehead, warmth encasing his body the closer to him you moved.
a year later it’s all satoru can think about as you’re closing the picnic basket, a smile on your face as you ask your lover if he’s ready to go.
he nods as you smile, the same glint of excitement in your eyes as you did a year ago, the same playlist with new additions playing as you drive out to the country side. the same stars the two of you visit ever so often awaiting the two of you with warmth.

Someday, I'm gonna live
In your house up on the hill
as they stood at the lookout deep in the catskills watching the sunset, buckys arms wrapped around her waist, avalon couldn’t help but be in complete awe. no matter how many times they’d come here to watch the sunset, or wait in the car with bated breath while the severe weather alert blared through the speakers as nearly black clouds quickly filtered into the valley, it never failed to make her gape with child-like wonder at the vast horizon.
“i’ve seen this view so many times, and it still feels surreal every time…”
“i know…” bucky whispered back, voice slightly muffled as he buried his face in the crook of her neck.
“it’s gorgeous…”
bucky raised his head to look at her, then to the view in front of them… the crystal blue reservoir below, narrow bridge crossing it in the distance, mountains for miles and the breathtaking pink and orange sky. He looked back to her and smiled.
the same view in front of them, he also held in his arms: her dyed bright orange hair, ‘i want to look like a pumpkin’ were avalons exact words when bucky found her dying it in the guest bathroom at 2am on a random wednesday. it wasn’t even fall yet, but she was just too excited to wait until october hit. the peaks and plateaus of her in the form of her body; the slope of her neck, the valley between her breasts, the curves of her waist, the dip in her hips, the bend of her knees. the bridge of her nose that she hated so much, uneven from one too many breaks never being fixed. bucky didn’t care, he loved all of her, so he’d kiss it anyways. and down to her blue-green eyes, perfection in his because they were the colors of mother nature. god, how he could always get lost in them.
“not as much as you though.” avalon let out a laugh at his comment. so cheesy, she thought.
she turned in his arms, pure adoration in buckys eyes as he stared back at her, and avalon swore in that moment she sunk further into the home she’d made for herself in his heart.
“okay, pretty boy.” she smirked, placing a long awaited kiss to his lips.
And when your skinhead neighbor goes missing
I'll plant a garden in the yard, then
it was the peak of spring. prime planting season, the wintery frost that usually covered the rural new york landscape during the cold months no longer invaded their yard.
bucky realized he hadn’t seen avalon most of the day, at least not since breakfast, and it was nearing 3pm. he thought she might’ve been in the green room, but nope. no head of messy strawberry blonde hair in sight. but then he heard it, loud and clear, that frustrated groan that filtered in through the front door, and bucky automatically knew what was going on. it was on their calendar and avalon hadn’t been able to stop talking about it for weeks; it was planting season, the end of the frost!
bucky made his way outside, a soft smile playing on his lips.
“hey, doll.”
“hi!” avalon jumped excitedly at the sound of his voice.
“what are you doing?” he already knew, but he had to play in. talking about her gardens of flowers, her pride and joy, always made her buzz with happiness. bucky felt grateful enough that she let him witness it.
“it’s planting season!” she said with a bright smile.
“oh, of course.” bucky said in a mock forgetful tone as he descended the front steps of her home — their home now.
avalon held up two small bags of seeds to bucky as she asked, “should i do pink or white peonies?”
“pink, obviously!” he replied, as if it weren’t already a given she had to plant pink peonies because ‘thems the rules!’
“obviously…” avalon rolled her eyes, already knowing what bucky was thinking, as if she could simply see into his mind.
They're gluing roses on a flatbed
You should see it, I mean thousands
the spring festival always filled avalon with joy. participating in the parade almost every year since she was three, while her mother and father usually manned their tent as vendors, along with her fathers brother who owned a brewery.
this would be buckys first year attending. it was basically his initiation, as avalon and her mom had put it.
“oh, my god… buck, look at the flower floats!” avalon beamed, her chest surging with joy. i can’t believe i was able to contribute to something so beautiful, she thought.
“they’re pretty.” bucky whispered back in her ear holding her tightly to his chest, watching the gorgeous floats filled with a plethora of flowers roll past.
“those are my roses…” she said timidly, pointing to the corral truck, all bright smiles and shining eyes. it was covered in at least a few hundred rose buds of varying colors.
“what?” buckys eyes went wide as he released his grip on her waist and she turned to face him with a shy smile. “and you didn’t tell me?”
“i wanted it to be a surprise!”
his smile shown brighter than the stars, and avalon couldn’t help but smile back the same way. bucky grabbed her waist, hoisting her up in the air and spinning her around as she laughed.
“i’m so proud of you!” he shouted, flooding her face with kisses all over.
I grew up here 'til it all went up in flames
Except the notches in the door frame
it was like a scene from a movie. avalon swore everything was going in slow motion as her feet came to an abrupt stop in the middle of the street. her mind racing a thousand miles a minute, but one thing was clear through all the haze… nimble. avalon ran straight for the blazing house.
“ma’am, please. you need to stand back.” a firefighter said as he held her back with his strong arm.
“but that’s my home! my dog is still inside!” she screamed back.
“i understand, but-“
“my dog is in there — my entire life is!” avalon was a complete mess. she knew this man was just trying to do his job, and she was extremely grateful for that, but she wouldn’t know what to do if she lost nimble. the tiny, almost fourteen year old beagle had been her best friend since she was nine.
“listen, i understand this is an incredibly difficult, and stressful situation…but you need to stay back and let us do our job.” the firefighter said with a firm nod of his head, going back to his position.
“oh god…” avalon took a step back, watching as her childhood home was consumed by the red inferno.
she fell to her knees, praying to a god she wasn’t even sure she believed in, until she heard a small voice in the back of her head. it kind of sounded like her grandma. ‘nimble will be fine, that little guy is as resilient as dinosaur bones’
not even a minute later does she look back up to see him dashing through the yard, the tiny hound, her best friend.
“nimble!” avalon sprung to her feet and raced towards him, right passed the firefighter who was telling her just minutes before to stay back.
“hey!” he yelled, trying to grab for her as she zoomed past, but failing miserably.
avalon fell to the sidewalk and scooped nimble up the second he was in arms reach, holding him tightly to her and crying.
she felt a crinkle against her chest. she looked down, and sure enough, nimble held a small brown canvas bag in his mouth marked peonies.
“anything to live up to your name, huh?” avalon said through sniffles as she removed the bag from his mouth, stuffing it into her jacket pocket and gently petting his head.
I don't know when you got taller
See our reflection in the water
everything was stressing her out. steve was so adamant that bucky would come back, and deep down avalon knew that he had to be right…he had to be, steve was buckys best friend since the dawn of time, he knew him better than anyone else. but avalon just couldn’t bring it from within herself to truly believe what the blonde was telling her.
so when avalon disappeared out of nowhere one afternoon, it was safe to say the whole group flipped the entire city upside down trying to find her. how could a girl from the catskills burrow herself so deep into manhattan when she barely even knew the city?
of course, steve being steve, he found her first because he knew all the right places to look. soho, the brooklyn bridge and riverside park. he should’ve known she’d be by the pier.
“darling?” steve called out softly. he’d know that flannel and shaggy blue hair anywhere.
avalon turned around to see her favorite of buckys friends. really, they were her friends too now. “oh… hey, steve.” she sniffled and wiped her tears away as she turned back to the water, leaning on the rail.
“we’ve all been looking everywhere for you…for two hours” there wasn’t even the slightest pinch of malice in his voice. steve wasn’t angry at all, he was concerned.
“i know, i’m sorry i scared you guys… i just needed to be alone” steve approached, standing to her right, leaning on the rail with her.
“so you came to the river?”
“buck and i, we… we used to walk the path almost every morning, so i figured… i figured no one would find me here, i guess.” avalon stared down at her morphing reflection in the hudson, steves next to her… she wished so bad that it was bucky.
“in a very public area, no one would find you?” steves gaze could burn holes through the side of her face.
she finally looked back at him, fresh tears welling in her eyes just threatening to spill over. “hey, i’m a very easy person to ignore… clearly.” she answered in a sarcastic tone.
“avi… steves entire demeanor shifted at her indication. he knew exactly what she meant.
avalon had quickly become one of steves closest friends, right next to sam and nat. he was loyal to a fault, so he’d do anything to protect his friends from harm, but he felt useless in this situation.
“it’s fine…” avalon said dismissively with a small, sad smile. being at her and buckys spot, looking out at the same view they always did together, brought back a lot.
Off a bridge at the Huntington
I hopped the fence when I was seventeen
she stared up at the seven foot tall chainlink fence with fear. how the fuck was she supposed to climb this thing?
“ava, come on!” noah yelled from the other side.
“guys, i don’t think i can do it!” she pulled her jacket tighter around her waist, not sure if the shaking in her limbs was caused by anxiety, or the cold air that seemed to permanently swirl at night during autumn in the catskills.
“come on, don’t be a scaredy cat!” oliver teased.
avalon thought it over in her head. it wasn’t that scary, the worst that could possibly happen is falling on her ass. “alright, alright…”
so she started climbing the metal links, just as she’d seen noah and oliver do before her. at one point, close to the top, she lost her footing and almost fell. in a quick recovery she pulled herself up, swinging her legs over the top and jumping to the ground when she made it halfway down.
“see? it wasn’t that hard.” oliver said, patting her shoulder with a smirk.
“yeah” avalon smiled back. in her distracted state she didn’t realize at first that oliver had tagged her, until he started running up the hilly path.
shock spread through her face as she looked over at noah, then he started running too.
“oh, you’re gonna get it oli!” avalon yelled as she began chasing after them both.
she gained a newfound confidence that night, pride surging through her chest. there was nothing she couldn’t do.
Then I knew what I wanted
this conversation had been a long time coming. neither of them knowing the other felt the same way, but avalon wanted this so bad. it was the next step. bucky wanted it too, but he would never ask her to drop her life in catskill to move to the city. it was tug of war.
“i couldn’t ever ask you to leave your home. i mean-“ avalon cut him off. what is this kid not understanding, she thought.
“but you’re not asking me to…i’m telling you, i want to live with you in brooklyn.”
“but catskill is your home! you feel the same way about it that i feel about brooklyn!” bucky just couldn’t understand. maybe it was because he’d never been in a relationship as serious as this. maybe it was because he believed it when his intrusive thoughts told him she didn’t really feel the same way about him. but boy, was he wrong.
“my home is with you, bucky.” she said firmly.
that was the moment he saw it. he saw the same look in avalons eyes that steve always told bucky he had when he was looking at her. it filled his chest with both joy and fear.
And when I grow up, I'm gonna look up
From my phone and see my life
when steve got a call from sam the night before saying him and tony had found bucky, it wasn’t what him and avalon expected.
they raced to the hospital on steves motorcycle. upon arrival, avalon jumped off before they even came to a full stop, throwing the helmet off and running inside.
she spotted sam and tony in the waiting room, “where is he?”
“ava…” sam said softly, putting his hands on her shoulders. a lump caught in her throat at the tone in his voice.
“what happened?” her words came out barely above a whisper.
“you guys might wanna sit down…” tony spoke up. avalon hadn’t noticed steve come in, or tony hugging him comfortingly before.
the fear was clear in her eyes as she looked between all of them, sam ushering her into a seat as tony went to find the doctor so she could explain it all better.
everything sounded muffled, like she was under water. the word ‘amnesia’ rang in her head. it was the only thing she could really catch the doctor say before she was having a full blown panic attack in the middle of the hospital waiting room.
And it's gonna be just like my recurring dream
I'm at the movies, I don't remember what I'm seeing
bucky had been in the hospital for a few weeks now. avalon hadn’t been able to find the courage to see him, when on the first night sam came out of the room with shaky hands, proclaiming bucky wasn’t able to remember who he was. so far it seemed bucky wasn’t able to remember anything past age twenty.
steve went to the hospital to see bucky almost every day, and this particularly grueling morning he all but forced avalon to finally go with him.
“just because he might not remember you right now, doesn’t mean he wouldn’t want to see you.” steve said. she knew he was trying to comfort her, but it wasn’t really working. they’d been sitting on a bench just outside the main entrance of the hospital for almost thirty minutes now, and she wasn’t past waiting another thirty just to spite them both. it felt like the universe was playing a cruel joke on her.
before she could even realize what was happening, steve was dragging her inside and pulling her into the elevator.
“you’re mean, you know that?” avalon said as she crossed her arms and leaned back against the wall.
“it’s only the fifth time you’ve said it today.” steve chuckled.
as soon as the elevator doors slid open, steve was dragging her around again.
“i can walk, steve. my legs work just fine.” avalon huffed out.
“yeah, and as soon as i let go of you, you’re just gonna run for the hills… literally.” steve quipped back. avalon simply rolled her eyes at him in response.
when they got to the door avalon felt like she couldn’t breathe, like all the air was being callously pulled from her lungs. steve felt her tense.
“it’s gonna be okay, avi. i promise.” steve gave her a warm, comforting smile.
“no it’s not.” she whispered back, tears already filling her eyes.
“yes it-“
“steve, he doesn’t know me.”
“he may not be able to remember you, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t know you.”
deep down, avalon knew he was right. she knew it, but that still didn’t mean she believed it right now.
“you ready?” steve asked.
“no.” with that, steve held her hand tightly as they walked into buckys hospital room, avalon guarding herself behind his broad back.
“buck? you up?”
“hey, stevie!” and avalons heart nearly shattered. it was the first time she’d heard his voice in over a month, and it was almost like the first time again. “who’s that hiding behind you?”
her knees began to buckle under all the stress she’d been carrying with her. she leaned against steves back for support, taking in jagged breaths.
steve turned around quickly, wrapping his arms around her comfortingly. “do you wanna go say hi to him?”
“i don’t think i can even look at him without bursting into tears.” she whispered against his chest.
“you’re already in here though, right?” she nodded.
“steve?” he sounded thoroughly confused. avalon could imagine bucky was probably doing his signature puppy dog eyes/head tilt combo, she giggled at the thought of it. steve smiled.
“yeah, buck?”
“who is that? oh, my god, wait, no, don’t tell me… is that your girlfriend?” bucky smirked and wiggled his eyebrows. steve immediately went red as a avalon let out a howl of a laugh.
“ewww!” “what- no- she- she’s not…” avalon and steve spoke at the same time.
“literally fucking barf…” avalon spoke through giggles. “no offense, steve.”
“no, none taken.” he chuckled.
avalon finally looked up at bucky, and he still had that same smirk on his face. she swore it almost knocked her off her feet.
“hmm, i don’t know if i believe it…” bucky said in a sing-song voice.
“trust me, killer. steves definitely not my guy.” she said, slowly approaching his bed.
“who is then? i mean, a pretty girl like you, there’s no way you don’t have a boyfriend.” bucky was actually flirting with her right now. it’s not like she wasn’t used to it, even when they started dating he would still flirt with her. but this was different, because bucky couldn’t remember that he was her boyfriend. she was so torn between crying on her knees begging him to just remember, and continuing to fuck with him. she assumed the latter would be less painful for now, so she went along with it.
“there’s a certain brunette i have wrapped around my finger…” she smirked back at him as she sat on the end of his bed.
this was certainly going to be interesting.
The screen turns into a tidal wave
Then it's a dorm room, like a hedge maze
avalon had dreamed of attending columbia since the day she toured it when she was ten, so when she got in early decision she was more than ecstatic.
meeting bucky during the summer between freshman and sophomore year happened purely by chance, because he was a student at nyu, and avalon still lived at home during the summer. it was a struggle to make it all work when they first started dating, but they did it.
junior year was definitely a bitch though. the first few weeks kicked both of their asses, what with bucky being an athlete and avalon being a biochemistry major. he had hours upon hours of practice and training, while avalon had two to four hour long labs and seminars.
one late night as avalon crammed for a quiz in her molecular biology course, hopped up on three pipeline punch monsters and a five hour energy, she heard an unexpected knock at the door. she knew it wasn’t her roommate, isabela.
avalon grumbled, not even wanting to get up from the seat at her desk so she called out, “who is it?”
“housekeeping!” immediately knowing who it was, she jumped up and bolted to the door, swinging it open.
“bucky!” she smiled.
“hey, doll.” he smiled back, avalon practically flinging herself into his arms.
“oh, my god! what are you doing here?” her voice came out muffled as she buried her face in the crook of his neck.
“i was homesick…” bucky shrugged. avalon pulled her face away to look at him, not a hint of anything but love behind his eyes. she pulled him back in and hugged him even tighter.
avalon was his home, and bucky was hers.
And when I find you
You touch my leg and I insist
everyone that knew bucky knew he was a playboy. never being tied down to one girl for more than a few nights. it was always like that. at least, that was, until he met avalon.
hes a brooklyn boy. blood, bread, born and raised. first kiss at nine and lost his virginity by sixteen. avalon was very different. shes a catskills girl through and through. first kiss at thirteen and still a virgin. she didn’t want to give all of herself to just anyone.
“you know, we don’t have to do anything if you aren’t ready yet. i don’t want you to feel pressured.” bucky said as they sat on the edge of her bed. avalon made sure isabela wouldn’t be back tonight so she could have the dorm room for her and bucky.
she really wanted this. she wanted it with bucky. she wanted everything with bucky.
“i know, i’m okay… i am ready.” she looked up at him to see the softest, sweetest smile on his face.
god, bucky barnes was going to be the absolute death of avalon fiore.
But I wake up before we do it
buckys recovery after the accident was a very long and hard process. it took nearly a year for his memory to be restored, at least to the point of remembering avalon and all of his friends. he was still staying with steve until his doctor fully cleared him to go back to his usual life, and avalon stayed with him almost every night, as he oftentimes had nightmares and she was the only person that could calm him down.
this just so happened to be one of those nights. avalon woke up to him thrashing around in the bed, which wasn’t too unusual, but it typically meant that his nightmares were worse than normal and it’d probably be a lot harder to get him back to sleep. avalon didn’t mind helping him a single bit. she loved him so much, she would do this for the rest of her life if she had to.
she wrapped herself around him and held him down as best she could, being his human weighted blanket.
“buck…” she spoke softly in his ear, and he jolted awake, hyperventilating and shaking like a leaf. “bucky- hey, hey, hey. hey, it’s me. it’s me, it’s just me. i’m here, okay? you’re gonna be okay, i promise. i’m right here.” she whispered as she ran her hands through his hair.
I don't know how, but I'm taller
It must be something in the water
avalon stood at the pier in riverside park as she did almost every day. just because bucky hurt her didn’t mean she was going to let him ruin the hudson for her. she had so many memories here, and the good definitely outweighed the bad.
“avalon…” she didn’t need to turn around and see his face to know it was him. she’d know that voice anytime, any place. even if she was deaf, she’d know the vibrations.
she pursed her lips as she felt him get closer behind her. “hi, james.” she replied plainly, looking back out over the river.
bucky was ready to get on his knees and beg for her forgiveness in front of every person walking empire state trail. “avs, please-“
she finally turned around at that, hearing the nickname only bucky ever called her. it sounded so foul running from his lips now. “no, no. no. you don’t get to call me that!” avalon yelled, shoving him back. “not anymore…” she whispered coldly, tears brimming her waterline as she walked away.
bucky fell to his knees crying. he didn’t care if anyone thought he looked pathetic, he felt horrible. he didn’t care if they trampled over him, he already felt like he was dying inside knowing how much pain he caused avalon.
Everything's growing in our garden
You don't have to know that it's haunted
many years ago now, not too long after meeting her for the first time, pepper asked avalon if she could teach her how to garden. they planted a beautiful array of flowers around the outside of the house. pepper had enough skill now after all these years to do everything herself, and was even beginning to pass all her knowledge down to morgan.
after everything that had happened recently, steve, and everyone else really, started to notice that avalon wasn’t going out as much. she seemed in a funk and they didn’t know how to help. she was always at her best surrounded by her friends and family, but now she felt too weak to even get out of bed most days. tony and pepper insisted avalon and steve come over for dinner, so that’s where they were, at the couples cabin deep in the adirondacks.
as pepper prepared a feast in the kitchen, steve and tony drinking on the porch and catching up while morgan played in the living room, avalon decided to get some fresh air and walk around the property. she stared fondly at the garden surrounding the house, remembering when her and pepper first planted it. something near the edge of the deck caught her eye… a small bundle of pink peonies.
she wasn’t sure exactly what came over her, but the next second avalon was ripping them out of the ground and pulling them apart. the guys shared a look.
“is she… okay?” tony asked, brows furrowed.
“she’s… she’s uhh… pulling out the peonies.”
“why?” steve himself wasn’t too sure either and he was thoroughly worried and confused, so he went over to check on her.
“avi…” he said, putting a hand on her shoulder.
she slowed to a stop, holding some destroyed buds in her hands as she began crying. “i can’t- i can’t… it’s like he’s a ghost, just haunting me at every corner i turn.” she looked up at steve and whispered, “i just can’t do it anymore.”
steve leaned down to hug her, but just as he did she went right back to ripping up the peonies and punching the ground, cursing god for playing such a sick joke on her.
steve walked back up the porch, far more perplexed than before. “she said something about a ghost, i don’t… i don’t know.” he sighed.
“a what?” tony screeched.
The doctor put her hands over my liver
She told me my resentment's getting smaller
seven months had now passed since avalon broke up with bucky, and everyones lives had been rockier than the devils tombstone. bucky got a new apartment in brooklyn, while avalon stayed with steve until her new home in the catskills was finished. she planned to move back there and get on with her life, maybe teach plant biology at her old high school, or work for the wethersfield estate tending to the gardens.
it was a rare night that only ever happened once in a blue moon where steve and avalon were off work on the same night, no flowers to sell or cars to fix. they decided to stay in watching movies together while getting wine drunk.
“i don’t know, i just don’t think i needed to see luke peglers bare ass tonight.” steve shrugged, avalon laughing hysterically.
“oh, i definitely did.” she said giggling, taking a sip from her glass.
steve shifted in his seat to face her, “can we talk about it now?” he asked softly.
“talk about what?” avalon said, raising a brow. she knew exactly what he meant, but she didn’t want to argue with him about it anymore. they’d been going back in forth for months now and avalon just wanted to put everything to rest and move on.
“i know he messed up, avi…” she rolled her eyes at that.
“yeah, no shit. tell me something i don’t already know, rogers.” she replied, downing the rest of the wine in her glass. steve huffed. why does she have to be so damn stubborn, he thought.
“do you think you’ll ever be able to forgive him?”
“i don’t know, steve. i really don’t.” she sighed.
this was the first time in her life that avalon wasn’t sure what her future would look like. since the day she met bucky in soho, the summer her uncles brewery expanded into the city, she imagined he’d be there until the very end.
No, I'm not afraid of hard work
I get everything I want
nearly a year with no contact and house in the catskills still unfinished, avalon was going stir-crazy. she felt out of her mind and didn’t know what to do. steve always worked longer hours than her, tony and pepper were in the adirondacks, nat and yelena were visiting their parents in russia, sam was working on his parents old boat in louisiana, wanda moved back to sokovia, and she had not the slightest idea what thor, bruce and clint were up to these days, considering they never answered their damn phones. she was still convinced after all these years that thor didn’t even know how to use his phone.
she made the decision, without even thinking really, but she was ready for the hell to end. she wasn’t sure if this was absolutely insane and would regret ever doing it, or if she was pure genius and would regret having not done it sooner.
“there’s literally no turning back now…” she whispered to herself in the dark of her car as she began driving over the brooklyn bridge.
she got turned around at first, taking the route to his old apartment. it was muscle memory. she’d completely forgotten he moved. by the time she finally made it there it was nearly 11:30pm, and she was sure he would be asleep.
but she knocked anyways.
and he answered.
“avalon…” he couldn’t believe she was standing in his doorway right now, a look of utter shock spread across his face.
“hi, bucky.” she said softly with a smile.
“get in here, right now!” when she didn’t move, bucky grabbed her arms and pulled her swiftly into his apartment.
“well, hello there…” she said through giggles while bucky spun her around.
“oh, my god…” he put her back on her feet, and when her smile didn’t falter he held her face gently in his hands to ground himself. this had to be a dream, he thought. “hi, doll!” he whispered in the space between them.
avalon smiled wider, running her hands through his hair. bucky leaned into her touch, eyes fluttering closed as he let out a content sigh. “hey, pretty boy.”
she still had no idea what her future was going to look like from here on out, but she knew she needed bucky in it forever. they would definitely talk about everything later, but for right now she just needed to live in this moment.
they were finally home again.
I have everything I wanted

The Afterparty
Author's Note: The basic idea is that instead of thinking about going to the dance, MC decides to plan this event instead. I like associating songs with different characters and thought it would be fun to imagine a concert where those songs would be performed/covered.
MIDNIGHT CONCERT AT THE FALL
DOORS OPEN AT ELEVEN
FEATURING THE EXILES
۞۞۞
SETLIST
Hellraiser by Ozzy Osbourne
You Give Love a Bad Name by Bon Jovi (Blue)
Bloody Mary by Lady Gaga (Purple)
For Your Entertainment by Adam Lambert (Light Blue)
VOID by Melanie Martinez (Orange)
Alone by Heart (Green)
INTERMISSION
For Whom The Bell Tolls by Metallica (Teal)
Money Make Her Smile by Bruno Mars (Yellow)
Feed My Frankenstein by Alice Cooper (Red)
She by Harry Styles (White)
bad idea, right? by Olivia Rodrigo (Pink)
ENCORE: Do Not Disturb by Halestorm (Black)
۞۞۞
FUN FACTS
MC always wanted to release their inner rock star but never felt confident enough to do so.
Diavolo was the one to suggest the concert as MC was sharing songs from the human world with him.
Each song on the setlist is attached to a color, and each color is associated with a person.
The songs (excluding the encore) get introduced by a color wheel.
Except for the opening song, MC wears something matching the color of the song they're performing.
MC sings and plays guitar and the piano.
۞۞۞
SONG DETAILS
Hellraiser is linked to MC.
Lyric: I keep saying that it's getting too much/But I know I'm a liar
Lucifer is Blue.
Lyric: You paint your smile on your lips/Blood red nails on your finger tips/A schoolboy's dream, you act so shy/Your very first kiss was your first kiss goodbye.
He is in attendance. One, he wants to keep an eye on Mammon and Asmo. Two, Barbatos had a extra ticket and invited him to tag along.
Part of him feels embarrassed to hear MC call him out like that, but mostly seeming them perform arouses him.
Belphie is Purple.
I mean, have you seen his battle sprite? The boy is a trained dancer.
The song is heavily choreographed.
The choreography is influenced by ballet.
He is not in attendance. He went straight back to the House after the dance to sleep.
He watches a video of the performance the next morning and is impressed by the artistry of the performance.
Simeon is Light Blue.
Lyric: Oh, I bet you thought that I was soft and sweet/You thought an angel swept you off your feet/Well, I'm about to turn up the heat
MC remembers how he behaved at the traveling carnival and decided to channel that energy into their performance.
He is in attendance. Solomon dragged him to the Fall after they settled Luke down in his bed.
He is BLUSHING.
Most people would think that he's horrified by the provocative lyrics, but no.
The song might as well be one of his diary entries describing how he feels about MC, so hearing them sing what's been on his mind...
Levi is Orange.
MC is attached to a wheel of death that magically spins and deteriorates as the song progresses.
The song describes someone who judges themselves harshly and has major anxiety.
If that isn't Levi to a tee, I don't know what is.
He is not in attendance. The dance drained his social battery, and he needs to be alone for a while.
However, he watches a livestream of the event on his phone, so he's witnessing the performance in real time.
By the end, Levi can barely see the screen due to the tears in his eyes.
Satan is Green.
Satan + pianos = match made in heaven
Plus, it's a rock ballad.
He is not in attendance for the same reason as Levi. He finds The Fall too loud for his liking.
He watches the performance the next evening after he's done studying.
He thinks the performance is beautiful.
Barbatos is Teal.
It's canon that he likes metal music.
I'm in the group of people that believe that he would enjoy Metallica.
You know the riffs played on the bass guitar? Well, imagine that they're played on a violin. Now, imagine that the person playing the violin is none other than Diavolo himself.
The reason for the intermission is so that he can disguise himself so that people don't suspect that he's on stage with MC.
As mentioned earlier, Barbatos is in attendance. He's the only person outside the band that knows about Diavolo's musical feature (which is basically how he got tickets to the show).
He appears stoic on the inside, but he's simply enjoying the music in his own quiet way.
Now, slight detour but still relevant to the song: I've seen a couple of posts that state that Lucifer has listened to Metallica. One of them presents the idea that he listened to the band a lot during his rebel angel days before he fell but that he only listens to them occasionally as a demon.
Needless to say, as soon as the music kicks in, Lucifer is literally this emoji: 😳
Mammon is Yellow.
It's literally in the title. What more could you ask for?
MC plays the role of an announcer, introducing a "new girl in town".
Who plays Mammon? A female doppelganger.
As mentioned earlier, he is in attendance.
He is BLUSHING (Part Two).
He has no idea what he's going to do the next time he sees MC. Will he faint? Will he compliment their performance? Will he pounce on them like an animal? The world may never know.
Beel is Red.
Food metaphors for sex? Literally Beel.
The second song that could be a diary entry.
He is not in attendance, for he doesn't particularly like the food they serve at The Fall.
He is instead eating at Hell's Kitchen when one of his classmates rushes up to him and has him watch a livestream of MC's performance.
Let's just say that he starts craving something else the longer he watches the performance.
Solomon is White.
I mean, he is the whitest boy in all of the three realms (lol).
In all seriousness, I know that in the original game, white was Luke's color and Solomon was a rainbow (like MC), but considering that everyone else has their own color and that MC wasn't performing a song about Luke...
Some background information: Harry Styles has admitted that he and his bandmates were on shrooms when they recorded this song and that the guitarist that plays the solo at the end (Mitch) didn't remember playing it (because he was that high) and had to learn it before they went on tour so that he wouldn't mess it up.
Needless to say, the song's trippy, and I think Solomon has a trippy vibe to him, so hence the song choice.
As stated earlier, he is in attendance.
He appreciates the work that went into the performance (which features some trippy set pieces).
Asmo is Pink.
Third song that could be a diary entry.
We all know Asmo's a slut, and we love him for it.
I also think he's a major pop rock girlie, and he would definitely be a big fan of Olivia Rodrigo (especially after GUTS).
He'd definitely be singing along and having a blast.
Not just during this song, but the entire concert. He LOVES seeing this side of MC.
Diavolo is Black.
*cough* Even if the devs can't settle on one shade *cough*
ANYWAY.
Out of all the songs, this is the one MC is most nervous to perform.
You see, they don't want to get in trouble for putting Diavolo on blast, and they almost don't perform the song at all.
However, after hearing the crowd begging for an encore, MC puts their fears aside and decides to just go for it (and worry about the consequences later).
MC has had a base costume that they've accessorized with different colored items throughout the evening. Underneath this base is a black lingerie set that they bought during a shopping trip with Asmo. This set gets revealed during a pause in the song where the lights go out briefly and come back on.
To make a long story short, MC is definitely getting railed after the concert.
Oh, and the "girlfriend" mentioned in the song? Lucifer.

Sometimes I wish I didn’t exist
But then I would miss out on the good things
Like kissing my girlfriend
Laying in the grass on a nice day
Taking photos with friends
Game nights
Cat snuggles
Excited dog butt wiggles when they see you for the first time in a little bit (esp when they make that air snort noise they make)
Learning a second language and being horrendous at it but keeping on anyways
Forehead kisses when you’re napping on the couch
Driving with the windows down on county roads listening to good music (bonus points if she’s there but I love it either way)
People who let you pet their dog in public
Farmers markets
Seeing joyful people in public who you can tell just seem to have something that powers them in a way not many do but the secret is one not even they know (I swear this makes sense in my head)
Women or Enbies who call me love or baby
Babes also works too
Especially when it’s a service worker (maybe that’s a product of working in the service industry but there’s something comforting about it)
People who stand by their convictions
Those who love me, every part of me, even the parts I struggle with, even the parts the world struggles with
Pride
Gay couples who aren’t afraid of being out in public
Queer media
Queer joy
Sparkles
Dresses
But also trans tape
And dressing like a “boy”
The euphoria of a good haircut
People who understand my pronouns even when I don’t (maybe not understand but they accept that we are all figuring it out together)
Love
Seeing little love moments in public
Like a couple giggling over a joke or moment no one else will ever get to experience
Or that conspiratorial smile when they are joking around
Seeing older couples still in love
Moving around a kitchen with someone you care for when food things have always been weird and cooking used to be like punishment bc it typically involved yelling and holding back tears
Having someone who understands your weird brain things even when you can’t explain them well
Being about to joke about things you once thought was a death sentence (even if you’re still a little sensitive and too scared to actually go get tested bc that makes it real)
Having someone who cares about you enough to suggest therapy
And going to the dentist
And offers to help you understand your insurance when you’re clearly an avoidance type of person who just won’t deal with it if you don’t understand it
Funny rituals even if you get the words wrong most of the time
When she understands what store I’m talking about even though I’m hopeless with the name of it (it’s the Amazon one. I swear I can get us there without the good why would I need the name)
Easy cook meals for when your brain doesn’t want to or can’t work quite right
When she turns on music you like even though she doesn’t like it quite as much to prove to you she doesn’t hate it bc you don’t use the right wording and she wants you to know she doesn’t hate it. (No really she will tell you)
Singing folk songs with god awful country accents
Writings stupid lists to make me feel better
Seeing little girls who don’t understand the weight being put on them by the world yet, running, yelling and having fun
Wearing pink
And wearing blue
Watching as the world slowly accepts more and more queerness and androgyny and gender nonconformity
The fight people put up for minority rights
Like black rights
Queer rights
Disabled individuals rights
Indigenous peoples rights
Seeing people stand up for those who need it is something I once thought I wouldn’t
Good music (I’m a lyrics person myself hbu?)
Video essays
Documentaries (I would say only the good ones but I’m a sucker for the bad ones too)
You😉 (no really you are a good thing I look forward to, every person I meet is someone who has so much love and potential and life that I will never know and that is such a good thing even if a bit daunting occasionally)
And lastly, myself, being out, being myself, trying my best to not be scared and put myself in the box that was built for me by my family and the society I grew up in.
I think that’s the good thing I try to look forward to most. I try to care about most. The joy of living as myself. Not the person I thought for so long I had to be.

ꕥA/N: The song lyrics are ones that I wrote myself specifically for this au and I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t nervous about posting it. I know there isn’t any tune or anything, but hopefully it sounds like a real song someone might sing. Also I’m not writing angst for a while after this holy shit I’ve been crying too much over this I’m emotional okay
Tumblr media
“Date night! Date night! Date night!” I grabbed my boyfriend’s arm, bouncing on my toes.
Yunho raised a hand to cover his ear, scrunching his face, “Babe, I love you, but I think you’ve deafened me.”
I pouted at his tone and crossed my arms, “You’re such a grump.”
“Oh whatever.” He smiled, “You ready?”
I smiled at him and nodded.
Ever since his band, Sidekick Heart, began to pick up traction, he had less free time and our full-day dates once a week soon became date nights every few weeks. Most of his time was spent writing songs, producing them, and practicing endlessly. The fact that he had a tour coming up soon just meant he had even less spare time. I was happy for him, of course, but I couldn’t hide my disappointment that he was leaving.
In middle school, he and three of his friends formed a band for fun, which they kept with all throughout high school. They got good, really good and almost right after they graduated they were signed by a label. Now, three years later, they’d already released two albums and one EP and earned enough money to make a living, which was why Yunho dropped out of college a month ago. Since he had steady career path, he saw no reason to continue and decided to focus on music. He still visited me at college whenever he got the chance, but his visits were becoming more and more sporadic.
We started dating freshman year of college. We had our difficulties as most couples do, but everyday I thanked the stars for pairing us together. I met him on the first day of French class, a day I know I could never forget, no matter how how our future played out.
I sat my backpack on the table in front of me, looking around the empty classroom. I was ten minutes early, so I wasn’t surprised about the lack of students. It was a bit unlikely for me to be so early, but I wasn’t able to sleep the night before and so I had extra time to get ready. With nothing else to do, I took out my phone, reading some missed text messages.
I heard the door open and my head tilted upwards, meeting eyes with a fluffy-haired brunet. He shyly smiled at me and I returned the gesture. The man took a seat in the front row across from me, only a few chairs in between us. I found it cute that he liked to sit in the front of the classroom, too. Very few people did. He turned away from me to place his backpack on the floor and take out a few books. I took the opportunity to look at him. He was attractive, for sure. His short sleeved solid black shirt followed his movements, tattoos peaking through his top. The shirt itself tucked was into ripped jeans, his black shoes matching the outfit, along with various accoutrements. His look was uncommon for college students, most just wore sweatpants with with a casual shirt. I thanked myself for dressing nice that day.
I tilted my head to get a better look at his side profile. He was so handsome that I seemed to forget I was staring. I couldn’t help but get caught up in him, not realizing that I was no longer being subtle.
He spoke without moving to face me, “You’re pretty cute, too.”
“I-I what?” My eyes widened, realizing I’d been caught.
He turned, a charming smile on his face, “You aren’t exactly discreet.”
I took a breath, trying to form a coherent sentence, “Well...can you blame me?”
He pursed his lips, trying to hide a smile, “I appreciate the compliment. What’s your name?”
I hesitated before answering him, which brought a full smile to his face. He moved closer to me before holding out his hand for me to shake. I grabbed his hand and shook it, trying to keep my hands steady. His hand was soft, clearly he took care of himself.
“I’m Yunho.”
I smiled, observing the way he lit up as he turned my hand, placing a delicate kiss on my skin. I felt my face heat up and averted my eyes. Yunho chuckled as he released my hand. Both of us looked up at the sound of the door opening, a group of students entered, followed by a lady who I presumed to be the teacher.
Yunho looked at me, “Meet me after class?”
I nodded, biting my lip as I felt excitement build in my stomach, wanting nothing more than for class to end as soon as possible.
The instant the teacher ended her lecture she left with the rest of the students, who were talking among themselves. My eyes flickered to Yunho to find him looking back at me, his backpack now thrown over his shoulders.
“You have any classes after this?” He asked in a nonchalant manner. Later he confessed to me that he was far more nervous than he appeared, claiming that he fell in love with me at first sight.
I finished placing my notebook in my bag, zipping it up and putting the straps over my arms, “Yeah, unfortunately. I’ve got World Politics in ten minutes.”
“Aww damn. I was hoping we could grab some food.” He reached into his pants’ pocket, pulling out his phone, “Maybe I could get your number instead and we could meet up later?” He wasn’t pushy or demanding, simply asking.
I nodded quickly, “I’d like that, Yunho.”
He suddenly became more shy, the tips of his ears dusting a beautiful shade of pink, “I like the way you say my name.”
I giggled, trying to hide my own shyness. I took his phone and entered my number, really hoping that he would text me. As if he read my mind, he confirmed what I was thinking.
“I’ll text you,” He looked at me with sparkling eyes before shaking his head, like he was pulled back to reality, “Oh uh...you should probably get to class.“ He raised a hand, somewhat awkwardly scratching the back of his head.
“Yeah I probably should. I’ll see you around?”
He smiled, “I’ll see ya.”
-
It wasn’t long before he texted me, and it made my heart flutter that he kept his word. A day later we met up, grabbing ice cream and getting to know each other. He was a dance major and had to practically beg his parents to let him pursue dance. In return they said he had to repay them with getting straight A’s. He had one younger brother who was possibly the biggest baseball fan to ever exist, he roomed with three men he’d been friends with since kindergarten, and he absolutely adored my brown eyes.
“They’re just beautiful.” Yunho gushed, “Both times I’ve seen you they just sparkle and shine like they’ve got their own little galaxies in them. I’ve never seen anyone with such genuine, kind eyes.”
I let out a girly laugh at the compliment and covered my mouth with a hand, “You’re really trying to flatter me, aren’t you?”
“Depends. Is it working?” He laughed as he propped his head on one of his hands, leaning closer to me in the booth we were sitting in. We’d finished our ice cream long ago, now shamelessly flirting and getting lost in each other.
“It might be.”
“Well I do mean it. I’m not only trying to flatter you.”
The ringing of his phone caught our attention. He smiled apologetically and reached for the device. He sighed, reading the contact name and looking back up at me.
“I’m sorry I’ve gotta take this. It’s one of my roommates and it’s entirely possible they’ve set the house on fire.”
I laughed, “It’s okay, go ahead.”
Yunho excused himself as he answered the call, walking outside. I took a look around the shop we were in, smiling at all the decorations when I noticed a woman sitting alone, eating ice cream and staring at me. Her eyes were such an ice blue that they made her intimidating, to say the least. I wasn’t too surprised, I’d dressed nice and all throughout the day I’d been getting looks. Taking it as a compliment I smiled at her and waited for Yunho to return.
“So good news,” He started as he sat back down in the booth, running a hand through his hair, which was way more attractive than it should’ve been, “They haven’t burnt down the apartment, but San—he’s one of my roommates—his car ran out of gas a few miles away from here so I’ve gotta go help him. Can I drive you back to your own apartment first?”
“Oh no, I don’t want to worry you.” I waved a hand, “I can have a friend pick me up.”
He nodded, “If you’re more comfortable with that, sure, but I’d rather drive you home, if that’s okay.”
I nodded, walking with him as he guided me out to his car. We had our first kiss when he dropped me off, leaving me with the promise of another date, and he delivered. Time and time again he proved he truly cared about me, which inevitably led to a relationship.
We heard a loud crashing in the basement of the house and Yunho let out a frustrated groan, “Oh god it’s happening again.”
He walked over to the basement door, opening it and sighing at the loud yells emitting from below.
“What is it this time?” Yunho shouted.
Wooyoung’s voice rung out, “San won’t let me use the controller!”
The man in front of me placed a hand over his eyes, over the situation entirely, “You’re still fighting over that game?”
“Crash Bandicoot waits for no man!”
“San let him have the controller or I’ll come down there and I’ll beat both of your asses!” Yunho shut the door, giving me a tired smile and walking back to me, “You’d think we would’ve outgrown this stage by now. I’d fire them both and hire a new bassist and drummer if I could.”
“Okay that’s an absolute lie, and you say that like you’re any better. I saw you arguing with Seonghwa over the last bag of chips yesterday.”
He pointed a finger at me, not trying to hide the smile on his face, “Okay that was absolutely valid. I bought those and they were mine.”
I smirked. “My point still stands.”
He rolled his eyes playfully, changing the subject, “How about after our date I sing you a couple of our new songs?” He leaned closer, his lips barely grazing my ear, “I wrote a few about you.”
I pulled back from him, feeling warmth spread in my chest. “Really? You did?”
Yunho wrapped an arm around my waist, “How could I not? You’re always my inspiration.”
I let out a string of incoherent gibberish which prompted the most adorable eye smiles from my boyfriend. I felt too honored to put my emotions into words.
“Go on.” Yunho motioned to the front door, “Grab your purse and head out to my car. I’ll let the guys know we’re going and I’ll meet you outside.”
I gave him a salute, “You got it cap’n!”
His eyes warmed, “God, I love you.”
“I know!” I teased before I grabbed my purse and skipped out of the house. The sun would be setting soon and I admired the several hues that were painted within the sky. I sat on the hood of his car, swinging my feet as I saw him walk out of the house.
“So where exactly are we going?” I tilted my head, looking forward to his response.
“Well I’ve got a couple ideas.” He held up his long fingers and counted off on them, “We could go bowling, or we could have a late night picnic, or maybe...” He moved closer, placing his hands on either side of me with a mischievous grin, “We could go swimming.”
My face lit up, “I haven’t been swimming in forever!”
“I know, that’s why I recommended it.” He laughed, “Let’s break into the swimming pool downtown. It’s definitely closed by now so we can be alone.”
I raised my brows at his words, a smile widening on my face, “Don’t we need to bring swimsuits, though?”
Yunho grinned at me and moved a hand to ruffle my hair, “Nope. We’re going without ‘em.” He lifted me off his car, “Hop in, babe.”
-
We approached the fence with our hands interlocked, a new message greeting us. A red and black sign with the words ‘No Trespassing’ was attached haphazardly to one of the metal wires looped through the fence surrounding the pool.
Yunho tsked, “Aw that’s cute. Like that’s gonna keep us out. This is basically our pool anyways.”
I laughed, both of us knowing full well there was no method of security beyond the sign and fence. The pool had never installed security cameras and after word spread that the owner had a fear of advancing technology, we had no worry of being caught.
He cupped his hands, holding them out for me to step on. I placed my foot on his hands as he lifted me up, helping me scale the fence. I stepped back, feeling a thrill as Yunho jumped over. It was probably the fourth or fifth time we’d done this, but each time was just as exciting. We walked over to the edge of the pool, its light blue water and the dark blue of the sunset opposing one another but making a beautiful visual.
“Alright, off we go.” Yunho’s fingers danced to the hem of my shirt, then pulling it off and ridding me of the layer of clothing. He pressed several kisses to the exposed skin, making me shiver.
Yunho then pulled back from me, slowly removing his shirt and giving me a teasing look when he caught me staring at his abs, “I look good, don’t I?”
“Shut up,” I laughed, lightly slapping his strong, tattooed arm before removing my skirt, enjoying the way my boyfriend’s eyes devoured me. I returned the action when I saw him remove his jeans, something he was clearly enjoying as well.
I turned back to the pool only to be thrown over Yunho’s shoulders. He let out a string of laughs as I struggled to get down, fearing that he would throw me into the water.
“If you throw me into the pool I’ll kill you!” I laughed, squirming on his shoulders.
“No...I would never do something like that.” I wasn’t even facing him, but I could hear the smile in his voice, which was my only indication that he was about to throw me into pool.
Before I could try to make any sort of escape, he tossed me into the water. It was cold, but less cold than I expected it to be. I coughed up a bit of water as I resurfaced and when I opened my eyes I squinted at Yunho, annoyed at how attractive he looked with the evil smirk on his face.
“You’re a jerk.” I said with no venom behind my words.
“Yeah, yeah. Brace yourself I’m coming in.”
I barely had time to move before he jumped in, his legs tucked to his chest. “Cannonball!”
I moved my hands in front of my face to block the wave of water coming my way, not feeling any surprise about my boyfriend’s childish behavior. When he resurfaced he faced me with a smile, wading towards me, embracing me in his arms, and wrapping my legs around his waist. He was so tall that he could reach the bottom of the pool without having to swim, unlike me, where I was no near reaching the bottom and needed to swim in place. With a satisfied hum he pressed several wet kisses to my neck.
“I love you,” he mumbled, his voice muffled by my skin.
“I love you too, babe.” I hesitated before I said my next words, still overwhelmed at how strong my feelings were for him, “You’re the love of my life.”
He pulled back with a bright smile on his face, his eyes shining almost as if he was tearing up, “I knew you were the love of my life the moment I saw you. And you’re all mine.” Yunho said before he placed a delicate kiss to my lips.
“All yours, babe.”
His long fingers danced along my sides, grabbing at my hips as he began to attack my chest with kisses. I giggled as the feeling of his stubble tickled my skin.
“You know, you really ‘oughta shave before you get a full beard.”
“Why? Are you saying I wouldn’t look good with one?”
I cupped his face, “You’d look amazing with one, but I thought you didn’t like beards, babe?”
“Hate ‘em.” Yunho’s laugh echoed around us, “Really weird that men can grow them in the first place. But anyways...”
His hands made quick work of my bra, letting it sink to the bottom of the pool. I opened my mouth to scold him but before I could his mouth latched to my right nipple, sucking and nipping on it in a way that made my hands seek out his hair and tug harshly at his locks. Letting out a growl, Yunho placed one hand on the the pool wall for balance and the other on my back, drawing abstract shapes there.
Yunho moved to my other nipple, giving it the same treatment and smiling when he heard my moans. In a flash he removed his hand from my back and pressed me against the pool wall, his hand now traveling to my panties.
As he removed the final item of clothing he ran a finger over my clit, giggling to himself. I gave him a look and he clarified, “Babe, you’re wet enough to fill an entire swimming pool.”
I groaned, pressing my head into his chest, “You make that same god awful joke every time we come here.”
“And as such I couldn’t let tradition die.”
“Shut up and fuck me.” I laughed, promptly helping him out of his boxers.
He continued to tease me after, switching between playing with my clit and stretching me out with his long fingers. By the time he finally gave in, I was a whimpering, pathetic mess, begging for more.
As he aligned with my walls he looked at me with delicate eyes, “Ready, little flower?”
I nodded quickly, chanting ‘yes’ over and over. Yunho once again placed a hand on the wall and hooked one of my legs over his waist, allowing him to thrust deeper inside me. He held my hand with his free one, a simple action that always melted my heart. Despite how long we’d been together, I would always get overwhelmed by him so easily. Everything about him exuded such a strong aura that sometimes just the smallest kiss would leave me breathless. The first time we were intimate he took his hand in mine and assured me he would be gentle, and every time since he’s held my hand. It wouldn’t feel right without our hands together.
“Shit—it’s been way too long since we’ve done this.” I said as he snapped his hips into mine, quickly repeating the action.
“God I know.” He let out a pained groan at the thought of it, “Four months is gonna be fucking awful without you.”
“Guess we’ll have to make do with what we’ve got now.”
“Guess we will.”
The sounds of water splashing and the echos of our moans, a symphony I had become so familiar with, was gradually reaching its crescendo. It was getting harder to keep my eyes open but I forced them to be, needed to memorize everything about this moment. The sweat dripping down Yunho’s forehead, the tattooed muscles he was flexing, the sounds and praise he was emitting, and pleasure we were both feeling--I wouldn’t see nor feel this for the next four months.
A particular snap of his hips had me seeing stars and I called out to him, letting him know I was close. Within minutes, both of us were panting and reeling from our highs. Yunho pressed his nose against mine and both of us closed our eyes, enjoying each other’s presence.
“How come every time we come here it ends in sex?” I giggled.
He blinked and moved a strand of wet hair out of my face, “Because you’re hot and barely wearing any clothes and no one’s around.”
I blushed at his compliment, “I mean like I’m not complaining or anything.”
A cocky smile formed on Yunho’s face, “Well it certainly didn’t sound like you were a moment ago.”
“Yunho!”
The man laughed, lifting me up and spinning me around in the pool before cradling me in his arms.
“I hate to say it, but we do need to head back. The world awaits for us, I’m afraid.”
I sighed, pressing into his chest, “I’m gonna miss you.”
He stilled as he pulled me closer, “I’m gonna miss you, too. You don’t have to miss me yet, though.”
“I know.” I swallowed, wishing I had something more to say.
“Come on, then.” Yunho gave me a quick kiss, “Let’s head back.”
-
Yunho held the front door open for me, giving me a gentle slap on my ass when I walked through. I turned around and gave him a playfully annoyed look, which he only laughed at.
As we walked towards the living room, the sound of a random sitcom filled our ears. Six heads turned our way after hearing our footsteps. Seonghwa was resting his head against his long-time girlfriend. She was a sweet girl and complimented him more than any woman I’d seen him with. They really were soulmates, if they ever existed.
San was sitting holding hands with a man he’d been interested in for awhile. I’d often see him flirting with various men and women, but he never went any further than that, too afraid of commitment. This man; however, seemed to breaking through San’s walls. I really hoped they would work out, San deserved someone as kind as him.
Wooyoung sat across from the them, who acknowledged us first.
“Hey guys. Have fun?” Wooyoung asked, smiling at my soaked hair. He had his arm around a woman I’d never seen before and I was certain that none of us would ever see her again. He had the reputation of a playboy, and every poor woman thought they’d be the one exception, the one to make him stay. I’m sure the allure of being a drummer in a band was part of his appeal, too. Maybe one day, like San, he’d settle down.
The woman became visibly upset when Wooyoung looked me with a teasing glance. Feeling sympathy for her, I decided to do my best to calm her nerves.
I spoke for us, linking hands with my boyfriend. “Yeah, we did. I think we’re gonna go clean up though.” I looked at the woman, “I’m y/n, by the way. I’m Yunho’s girlfriend.”
She didn’t even try to hide the relief on her face. “Oh! I’m Solar. It’s nice to meet you.”
“Yeah,” Wooyoung started, “Best girlfriend he’s ever had. Much better for him than Lucy.”
Yunho glared at the man, “Thought we agreed not to bring her up?”
Lucy, the woman Yunho dated before me, was arguably the scariest person I’d ever heard about. They dated for roughly three months before she became obsessive, to the point where Yunho had to get a restraining order against her. She threatened to hurt all of Yunho’s friends and family, all because she wanted Yunho all to herself. That was about all Yunho ever told me about her. Not that I complained. I didn’t exactly want to discuss his exes, even more so when they were that crazy.
I never told him, but I knew I saw her the first date we went on. I could see the way her piercing, ice eyes saw through me. I had no doubt it was her. I just hope I’d never see her again. Maybe now that she saw he was taken she’d leave us alone. There was an uncomfortable silence following, none of us knowing what to say until San spoke.
“You look like a wet dog, Yunho.” San joked, prompting laughter from a few of us, which seemed like more of a noise of relief rather than one of actual humor.
“Yeah, yeah.” My boyfriend relaxed his shoulders, “I think we’re gonna head in for the night so don’t make too much noise.” Waving them goodbye he caught up with me, placing a hand around my waist.
“Shower with me, doll.”
I placed a hand on his chest, “I would love to.”
-
I came out of the shower wearing my favorite large shirt of Yunho’s, drying my wet hair with a towel. The smell of chlorine had gone away for the most part; whatever chemicals the owner put in that pool always made the smell harder to get rid of. Only a small price to pay, I figured.
My boyfriend, who was much quicker than I was, looked up from his phone as he was splayed out across his bed. His tired eyes smiled at me while motioning me over. Yunho’s own hair was still drying and with his bare face and crooked smile, he was as handsome as he could ever be.
“Hey there.”
“Hey, sweetheart.” He reached an arm out to me, pulling me against him when I took his hand, “How ya feeling?”
“Tired.” I hummed, sleepily smiling against his neck.
“Too tired to listen to the song I wrote for you?”
“No! Not at all.”
Yunho chuckled, slowly brushing my hair aside and turning his head to look at me. As he had countless times, he took a breath before he turned to me, beginning to sing.
“You give me fireworks
I’ll give you the kindest words, my dear
Your love caught me
The moment I met your eyes
And how could I not fall?
Your heart bared, no disguise”
I fought to stay awake although his melodic voice seemed to be lulling me to sleep. I felt myself losing consciousness, but managed to catch the last few lyrics he sang to me.
“Now I sunbathe in the daybreak
Half asleep, half awake
Writing this song
As I hope I’ll dream of you”
Yunho brushed his fingertips brush against my face before he spoke, “Goodnight, flower.”
I muttered some form of a “goodnight” before I felt sleep take over me, nuzzling happily against my boyfriend.
-
I woke up in a panic, unsure why my heart was beating so fast until I looked at the clock. Eleven in the morning. I was an hour later than I should’ve been at my job. It seemed that even unconscious my body knew I was late.
“Oh shit I’m gonna be late for work!” I spoke with wide eyes.
Jumping from Yunho’s bed I stripped myself of his shirt and quickly threw my clothes on. The body that laid beside me stirred, moving the covers aside.
“Are you leaving?” He asked sleepily, his face puffy from sleep and an adorable pout on his lips.
I frowned, “Yeah. I’m sorry we didn’t get to spend more time together, babe.”
He shook his head, “Don’t worry about it. Both of us slept in.”
I tied my hair back, sighing. I was so caught up in my thoughts I almost missed Yunho’s question.
“Sorry what was that?”
He smiled, “You’re coming to our going away party tomorrow, right?”
“Of course. I wouldn’t miss it for the world.” I moved back to the bed and hugged him, feeling my heart sink. I was proud of him, I really was, yet couldn’t help but feel sad that I wouldn’t see him for so long.
This was the longest tour they’d ever gone on and we’d never been apart from each other that long before. I trusted him and I was confident in our relationship, but realistically, all members of Sidekick Heart were attractive young men and a good portion of their fans were female. I was far more concerned about the female audience doing something than I was about Yunho making a move on another woman.
With one last squeeze of his shoulders I pulled back, goodbyes beginning to fall from my lips before Yunho pulled me back.
“I need a goodbye kiss.”
I pressed my lips together with a smile, gladly indulging him. Giving him one last kiss against the lips, I bid him farewell until the following day.
-
“So how was work?” My roommate asked as I walked in the house, propping her feet up on our couch and tossing a kernel of corn into her mouth, the lighting of the TV illuminating her blanket-covered body.
I sighed, sitting down on the floor next to her, “Other than being an hour and a half late and missing an important meeting I think it went okay. I’m just glad the day’s over.” Rubbing a hand over my face I turned to her, “What about you? How was your day?”
“Pretty damn good actually.” She smiled, removing the blanket and showing me the new ink on her upper arm. It was an assortment of flowers and matched her bubbly personality perfectly. They were now the fifth adornment on her beautiful dark skin, each one of them tempting me more and more to get a few of my own.
“Another one already, Tiff?”
“Listen, you’ll know how addicting they get as soon as you get your first.”
“You sound so confident that I will.”
“Oh I know you will. You’re dating a rockstar, after all. Not to mention he’s the goddamn lead singer and has tattoos of his own.”
“Shut up.” I giggled, “Speaking of, are you coming to the farewell party tomorrow?”
“I plan on it, but I’ll probably be there a couple hours late. My dad’s flying into town for the weekend so I plan on visiting first. I’m definitely coming though.”
I hummed, “Yeah, don’t worry too much about it. We all know it’ll go till sunrise anyway.”
She let out a loud laugh, likely remembering the last party of theirs we went to where she ended up more drunk than I’d ever seen her. She claims she remembers flashes of the night; playing strip beer pong and being dared to steal one of the neighbor’s bushes—which, after much convincing from those who were sober, she decided against it—but didn’t recall half of the hilarious memories of her the rest of us did. Personally, my favorite was watching her hold a tomato soup can and cry over the fact that it could never have children.
Tiff let out a yawn as she stretched her arms above her head, turning in my direction. Her words were muffled by her yawn as she spoke, “Imma go to bed now. You good before I go?”
I smiled at her, “Yeah I’m good. I won’t stay up too much longer, just need to go through my nightly routine of looking at the stars, ya know, the usual.”
She nodded, wrapping the blanket around her and heading to her bedroom, “Sleep well, babe. I’ll see ya tomorrow.”
“Back at ya.”
It was a habit of mine, gazing at the night sky before sleeping. It gave me comfort knowing that out there, somewhere, there was something else out there with me. Almost like I wasn’t going through everything alone.
I set my purse down when I reached our kitchen, reaching for a tea pot and tea bags, brainlessly brewing my favorite tea as I thought of what Yunho might be doing right now. It was probably most likely that he was practicing for their tours, but I could only hope he was getting a little bit of rest.
I stepped out onto our porch to look at the stars with a cup of tea in my hands, the night sky twinkling with all the stars it could offer. A slight breeze rustled my hair and I closed my eyes, thankful for the pleasant weather. I heard a sudden snap of a branch and my eyes quickly opened as I searched out property for any sign of an aggressive animal. My eyes finally landed on a human-like figure. Feeling adrenaline run though me, I decided to confront whoever or whatever it was.
“Who are you? What are you doing here?” I spoke, my voice loud but not quite a yell.
The figure took off it’s hood to show their face, and I saw a familiar pair of ice blue eyes, though I hadn’t seen them in years, “I’m here to see you, of course.”
My brain quickly connected her to the woman I hoped I’d never see again.
Lucy.
“Well I don’t want to see you. Leave.”
She pressed a hand to her chest, feigning offense, “But I came all this way! Just to...say hello.”
I took a step towards her, hoping that if I appeared confrontational she would leave me alone. “I don’t know who you are, now please leave. I’m not going to say it again.”
“Oh, you poor girl. You really think you have the upper hand?” She pulled out a knife, and walked towards me at impressive speed, pointing the weapon at my throat. “I know you’ve been seeing Yunho. I. Don’t. Like. That.” She emphasized every word of the last sentence, anger woven within her voice.
I wanted to fight back. Everything in me was screaming to fight back, but I knew I had no chance. I had no idea what she was capable of, and I didn’t dare to find out.
“I dated him first and he’s still mine. You’re going to break up with him, you hear me?” She screamed in my ear, the sound shaking me to my core, “I never want to see you near him again.” She grabbed my jaw harshly, forcing my eyes to lock with hers. “I bet he doesn’t even love you.”
My eyes watered. I knew she was wrong, but with the adrenaline coursing through my veins and the harshness of her words I began to doubt myself.
Her grip tightened and I let out a yelp, “He loves me and I love him. He’s always loved me, not you. Why would he ever love a thing like you?”
She then threw me to the ground, towering over me, “Break up with him. Make him hate you. If you don’t,” She squatted down next to me, once more pointing the knife at my throat, “I’ll kill him myself and make you watch. Then,” She cocked her head, a crazed smile plastered on her face, “I’ll kill you. If I can’t have him, no one can.” She stood, smirking at me, “And you know I will.”
She kicked me in the stomach, watching as I crawled into myself, groaning from the pain. I closed my eyes, hoping she wouldn’t hurt me any more than she already had.
“I’ll be watching you at the party tomorrow. Do it then. Break his heart. I’ll kill him then and there if you don’t.” She looked down at me and scoffed, “And I’ll be bringing friends to make sure the job gets done.”
I carefully opened my eyes to see her stepping over me, walking back into the darkness from which she came. I scrambled back into my house, hyperventilating from the interaction I just had.
I spent the night crying, not able to sleep even for a minute. I tried to think rationally, but there were just too many variables. How many ‘friends’ was she bringing? Would she really kill Yunho in front of everyone? Where would she be watching me from? Is she watching me now?
I could text or call Yunho to let him know, but where would we go from there? He’d want to meet me and she’d kill him instantly. Right?
“Maybe I could pull him aside at the party and warn him?” I murmured to myself, “No, she could probably see that. Maybe there’s people actually at the party who are looking out for us, too.” I covered my face with my hands and fell back into my pillows, weeping as I knew I had to break up with the love of my life.
-
Choosing to wear a yellow dress honestly couldn’t have been more ironic. Yellow was supposed to be a happy color. A color of hope and yearning, innocence and warm days full of laughter. It was the complete antithesis of how I felt and what I knew I had to do. Even worse, the weather was perfect. It was sunny, but not so much to make it unbearable outside. Everything about today made my insides twist.
I took a breath at the door of Yunho’s house, bracing myself for what I had to do. Knocking a few times I heard a commotion inside before the man I came to see opened the door. His smile had never been bigger.
“Baby!” He cheered, pulling me into a bear hug and ruffling my styled hair, “I’m so excited you’re here!”
He looks so ecstatic. And I have to break him.
The thought crushed me and brought tears to my eyes, but I couldn’t let him die. I knew she was serious, I didn’t doubt that for a moment. I grabbed Yunho’s arm, pulling him outside and away from everyone in the house.
I looked at the ground as I felt my lips begin to quiver, “I’m sorry. I just need to get this over with.”
Yunho bent down to meet my eyes, “Hey, hey. What’s going on sweetheart?” His voice was gentle, one of his hands coming to rub the tears from my face, “I’m here for you, whatever it is.”
I looked down, unable to look him in the eyes. I hated myself more than I’d ever hated anyone. “I don’t love you, Yunho.” My hands began to shake beyond my control, my own body knowing I was making a mistake.
“W-what?” Yunho’s voice cracked. A moment of silence passed before he let out a hollow laugh, “Baby, you don’t mean that-”
I looked up at him and immediately wished I hadn’t. Tears were welling in his eyes, his own hands beginning to shake.
“I said I don’t love you Yunho!” I said louder than I intended, “Not anymore. I don’t want to be with you. I’m sorry.”
He took a step back and I noticed his hands clenching, something he always did to keep himself from crying.
“If that’s what you want,” Tears fell from his eyes before he finished his sentence, “Then I’ll support your decision.” He looked to the side, not knowing what else to say.
I wanted nothing more than to throw myself in his arms and explain everything, tell him that I’ve never stopped loving him, not even for a second, but I couldn’t. Instead, I wiped away my tears with the back of my hand and looked at him one last time. He was so fucking handsome, so goddamn kind, and here I was doing this to him. Maybe he did deserve someone better.
“Good luck with your tour, Yunho. I know you’ll be fantastic.”
I turned and walked away from him quickly, leaving the house and ignoring the stare I could feel on me. I ran across the yard to my car, starting the engine and leaning my head against the steering wheel. I felt myself lose all oxygen in my body, the only option left to take large gasps of air. My vision was so clouded by tears I couldn’t even see anymore. I’d just lost myself along with my other half. I’d never felt as empty as I did in that moment.
Just then I heard a knocking on my window. I half-hardheartedly lifted my head and felt my heart lurch. Yunho was standing outside my car, eyes red and puffy, looking at me like I was the last person he’d ever see. I opened my car without thinking, my breathing still as uneven as before.
Yunho spoke, his voice coarse and distant, “I’m not asking you to change your mind, but I need you to know that I have always loved you and I always will. That will never change.”
I wiped the snot from my nose but didn’t bother to try and fix the mascara I knew was streaming down my face. I knew I had to look horrible, but he still held so much love for me that it was easy to see in his eyes. I fought myself to not reply, knowing that if I’d open my mouth all I’d say was ‘I love you’ over and over again.
“Is it too out of line to ask for a last hug?” He smiled sadly as more tears poured from his eyes.
I shook my head, running into his arms and embracing him. I felt like I made a mistake the moment I did because I could smell him. He was wearing the cologne I bought him for his birthday. His warm, sturdy chest...everything about him felt like home.
“Goodbye, Yunho.”
-
I arrived at home alone, tears still stinging my eyes. Tiff was nowhere to be found and I couldn’t decide if I was thankful or sad for the fact that she wasn’t there. I barely made it out to our porch before collapsing once again, finding it harder and harder to breathe. I didn’t know how long I was sitting there, it could’ve been one hour or three, but given the setting sun it looked like it was the latter. Once more I heard a noise outside our home, and once more the female figure appeared before me.
“You did good,” Lucy said, twirling her knife in her hands, “Dare I say I’m proud of you.”
“I don’t ever want to see you here again.” I cried, “I did what you want now get the fuck away from me.”
“My, my. You have quite the mouth on you, don’t you?” She tsked, “But you did as I asked, so I might as well comply. Don’t; however, think that you can go crawling back to Yunho and tell him about this. I’ll keep watching you and if you decide to do just that...I’ll follow through with my promise.”
I kept my eyes on the ground, convinced that if I looked up at her I’d attempt to rip the hair out of her head. No anger I had ever felt before could surmount to the rage I was feeling.
“Nonetheless, it was a pleasure doing business with you, miss.”
As soon as she came, she was gone. When I finally let myself look up, I could no longer see her, only darkness. Once again, I was alone.
-
Six months had passed since I broke up with Yunho and today officially made the third new date I’d went on. All of them were absolutely horrible. It wasn’t even that the guys were mean or rude or weren’t attractive, they just weren’t him.
Why am I even trying to move on?
I looked at myself in the mirror. My eyes looked heavy, the bags under my eyes ever prominent. I couldn’t fool myself. I’d never be able to be with another man again. I forced myself to hold back tears and reached back to untie my hair, preparing to take a bath in hopes that it would take my mind off of things.
I began to run the warm water as I reached for several candles, lighting them and placing them around the room, trying to forget the entire day altogether. As I waited for the tub to fill I grabbed my phone, opening Instagram for no other reason than to have something to do. Although Yunho and I broke up, I still followed their band account, as well as their individual accounts. Seonghwa, San, and Wooyoung were still my friends, after all. Yunho was the only exception. Both of us unfollowed each other early on just because it was too painful. I didn’t hold it against him and hoped he didn’t hold it against me either.
Regardless, my eyes found the most recent post on Sidekick Heart’s account. All four members were shirtless, their hair dripping wet with goofy smiles plastered on their faces. They were standing by a pool, the same one Yunho and I would often break into. I noticed Yunho first, how could I not? His smile wasn’t as wide as the other’s, his eyes a bit colder, but he looked happy all the same. He looked good. Really, really good. He was always fit while we were dating, but he gained more muscle since I last saw him and it didn’t go unnoticed by their fans, either. I clicked the comment section against my better judgement, knowing what I was going to see before I even did so.
“Yunho looks like a fucking goddd”
“So Yunho’s still single right??”
“Yunhooo hmu I beg you”
“Jesus Christ Yunho break me please”
A surge of jealousy rushed through me. I hated when girls said those things when we were together, but now that we were apart it made it even worse. I had no right to be jealous, and that was the worst part.
The water reached my leg that was resting on the side of the tub and I scrambled to turn off the faucet. Doing my best to push the images from my mind I placed my phone aside and stripped from my clothes, settling in the water. I sighed as some water fell out of the side of the tub. It wasn’t a terrible thing to happen, but it seemed to just be another thing to go wrong.
My eyes wandered back to my phone, Instagram still open and the picture I was looking at earlier still on display. He was so fucking hot and seeing that he was standing next to that pool—our pool—made my brain short circuit. I couldn’t stop my thoughts from taking me back to the last night we broke in, the way we teased each other and how it inevitably led to sex. It seemed I had no control over my body as my dominant hand slipped between my legs.
But as much as I wanted it to be, it wasn’t the same. My fingers weren’t as long or slender as his and just nothing about our touches were the same, but the image of him just made my hormones rage. Every ounce of me craved him.
My fingers swirled around my clit, a bundle of pleasure shooting through me at the action. I closed my eyes, letting my body take over and repeat the motions and much as I fought not to, my brain kept replaying scenes of two of us again, and again, and again.
“Such a good girl, aren’t you?” Yunho spoke as I sunk down on his dick, barely finding the energy to lift myself up again even though the noises he made were like shots of espresso.
“Aww, is my baby getting tired?” He cooed, jerking his hips into mine.
“It’s not fair!” I whined, “I’m not good at this and you know it.”
“But we wouldn’t be a good couple if we didn’t encourage each other to work hard, right? Up you go, flower.”
I whimpered and pouted, but still obeyed him. Taking pity on me, Yunho grabbed my waist and lifted me, relaxing his grip as I moved downward. I made a noise that wasn’t understood by Yunho, but it didn’t go unnoticed.
“What was that?”
“Please. More. I need you so bad.” I begged.
Yunho laughed, “I really do have you wrapped around my finger, don’t I?”
I nodded before remembering that he’d probably prefer a verbal answer, “Yes. I’m w-wrapped around your finger.”
He let out a noise of satisfaction before flipping us over into a position so that he would have full control. I grabbed the bedsheets roughly, so much in my own world that I didn’t hear Yunho’s words.
“What was that?” I let out with a series of mewls.
“You’ve got me wrapped around your finger, too, you know? I don’t go an hour without thinking about you anymore. I can’t even have a single conversation without bringing you up. Anytime someone says your name my heart beats out of my damn chest. You’re the only woman for me.”
My legs shook as my high approached, barely able to breathe at it’s intensity. It took me a minute before I could even remember where I was. As I came to my senses, I felt tears biting at my eyes and this time I didn’t bother to hold them back. I watched as they streamed down my face and joined the now-cold water surrounding me. I brought my hands up to cover my eyes, glad Tiff wasn’t home to hear my wailing. She’d been good about staying with me since the breakup, but tonight she just wasn’t here. The hole in my heart felt even deeper now. I wondered if he found someone, if he was happy now. Hell, maybe it was his ex. The thought tore my heart out and ripped it in two. I wanted to be happy for him if it was true, but I just couldn’t be. I was still too selfish. I still wanted him to love only me.
-
New friends, new beginnings or whatever.
That’s apparently what I thought when I began attending more clubs at college after the breakup, meeting new people and eventually finding a really solid friend group. All who happened to really like punk-rock music.
“You should really go with us,” Shang directed his words at me, “There’s a new band popping up that’s playing this weekend. It’s three hours away but they have great music.”
I sighed, not fully convinced although it did sound fun. The last concert I’d been to was one of Yunho’s and though I hadn’t even seen him in what felt like forever, I still couldn’t help myself from thinking of him anytime someone talked about concerts. Sensing my apprehension, the woman beside me spoke up.
“Road trip! Road trip! Road trip!” Tyra chanted in my ear, her black curls bouncing with her as she clapped her hands between the words. “Come on, it would be so much fun and you know it.”
I bit my lip, deep in thought. I knew I would have fun but I just didn’t know if that would outweigh the pain I would feel.
“What’s the band name?” I asked, looking at Shang.
“Honestly?” He scratched the back of his head, “I was a little drunk when I told one of my friends I’d be there so I don’t even remember what they’re called.”
“How do you know they have great music, then?” I laughed, Tyra agreeing with me, apparently not knowing who was playing when she agreed either.
“I mean, my brother listens to their music and he’s got good music taste so they’ve gotta be good.”
I closed my eyes as I felt an oncoming headache, knowing they wouldn’t accept no as an answer. “Fuck it.” I stated, “I’ll go.”
The two cheered, Shang promising that I’d enjoy myself. I doubted it, truthfully, but really it was decided that I’d go the moment the pair brought the idea up to me.
-
Our trio waded through the giant crowd as the doors opened to let us into the venue. It was big, one of the larger concerts I’ve been to. Whoever we were seeing was successful, for sure. The volume at which everyone was speaking was essentially a yell, so I had to do just that to get my messages through.
“I still can’t believe we have no fucking idea who’s playing!” I yelled at Shang.
He laughed, “I got seats towards the front row, though! I didn’t even have to pay for them!”
“That’s not gonna matter if we don’t know any of the lyrics, you dipshit!” Tyra barked.
“Okay okay I should’ve asked, I get that now.”
As we found our way towards the seats, there was a big projector with the words ‘Sidekick Heart’ displayed across it. My heart dropped and I suddenly felt it become hard to breathe.
“You got us tickets to a Sidekick Heart concert?” Tyra beamed, “I love their music and I’m practically in love with San! His vocals are insane! Holy shit, Shang!”
“Ohhhh yeah I remember now.” He chuckled.
I seemed to fade into the background as the two of them discussed their love for the band and the members. All I could think about was seeing Yunho again.
Would he see me? How would he react if he does?...Does he hate me?
I only came back to reality when the audience began to cheer and I saw all the members step onto stage. Seonghwa cradled his electric guitar, in one arm, waving at the audience with the other. Wooyoung plopped down behind the drum set, smiling at the audience while twirling a drumstick. With his bass guitar, San, ever the king of expressions, gave his best smoulder to the audience and it seemed like the audience collectively screamed over him. Then came Yunho out to center stage, his electric guitar in his hands and a smirk on his face as if he knew everyone in the damn building wanted to fuck him. And he’d be right. The spotlights on each of them made them look like actual gods. If I didn’t know them personally I would have thought they were.
Yunho leaned into the mic, his gruff voice taking me by surprise, “Hello everyone! Great to see you all! If you haven’t been to one of our concerts before this is how it’s gonna work: You’re gonna dance, we’re gonna sing, we’re all gonna have a fucking great time tonight!”
The crowd erupted as the first song began to play. It was one of their more popular songs and for good reason. All over it was a really well put together song and I couldn’t help as I began to mouth along to the words. Song after song played, some I knew some I didn’t, and the entire time I couldn’t look away from the man singing. He radiated confidence and looked relaxed as if he’d been performing for decades. I knew he wasn’t as cool as he seemed, I’d given him so many pep talks before performances I couldn’t count them, but as an outsider you’d never know.
I wonder who talked him up this time?
“Alright everyone. This is the last song of the night and-”
The audience booed, everyone upset at the night coming to a close.
Yunho laughed. The sound was rich and beautiful. He was truly enjoying himself. This is what he was meant to do, with or without me. I closed my eyes, willing myself not to cry.
Yunho’s voice filled my ears. “I know, I know. I’d love to stay a bit longer, too. Here’s the thing though...” He paused and I opened my eyes only to see him looking back at me. His eyes automatically softened as they always did when he saw me, but as if he remembered how we ended his gaze hardened slightly, like he was trying to distance himself. It felt like we’d been looking at each other for hours before he opened his mouth to speak again, but I knew very well that my perception of time had been off for a while.
“Even if we only have this little time left, I’ve truly enjoyed the time we’ve spent together. The fact that it’s coming to an end soon is what makes it so special, I think.” Yunho broke eye contact with me, smiling slightly and glancing back out at the sea of people. “Seeing your smiling faces, your energetic cheers—all of it—is a reminder to me that we’re so lucky to be doing this as a job. Really...I love you all.”
The audience let out a chorus of ‘awws’ which was followed by several rather aggressive ‘I love you too’s.
The lead singer once more smiled, “Now, without further adieu, this is one of our newest songs and it’s called Brown Eyes, here it is.”
The music began to play, all instruments coming together to make a somber tune. Somehow they were always able to write music that perfectly encapsulated emotions or ideas. This one? Loss.
“Since you left you’re still so infused
In how I think and what I do
Can’t seem to get you to leave me alone
Your ghost stayed here and she watches my tears
That run down our picture frames”
Then he found me again in the crowd, no doubt able to see the tears staining my makeup, no doubt able to see how broken I was. And still, he sang.
“I’ve tried hard to fight it
Yet I keep givin’ in
There’s been no one but you
I’m trapped, confined
And your platinum smile still knocks me out
Every single time”
He kept eye contact with me, not once breaking his gaze. It was almost as if he wanted me to break first, as if he wanted me to look away before him. As if he was daring me to leave him again.
San stepped closer to his mic and took his eyes away from his bass guitar, Yunho’s voice being replaced by the purple-haired man. As his voice rang out I only could’ve hoped the next lyrics were about one of San ex’s, not me. Even if they weren’t, Yunho still looked at me.
“It’s not aimed at me
Maybe it never was
But oh darling, you could’ve fooled me”
My eyes flickered down, unable to look at Yunho any longer. His gaze only broke my heart further and in turn I felt my eyes water. After a moment or two, I worked up the courage to look back at him. He was still looking at me like he never moved his eyes. I couldn’t seem to register the lyrics until Yunho began to sing again, his voice drawing me in as it always did.
“You've disappeared without a trace
Left an unsuspecting guise
Love, I need you to know
I’ve been losing far more than sleep
Over those deep chocolate eyes.”
As the song and the show ended and everyone in the crowd cheered, I felt a rush of emotions run through me. Thrilled that they’d become so successful, proud of them for putting on such an amazing show, and hurt because I could still see a sliver of sadness in Yunho’s eyes.
I hurt him.
Yunho then reluctantly said his goodbyes to the audience along with the rest of the members. His jaw tightened as he walked over to Wooyoung, whispering something in his ear before walking off stage. Feeling like I was set in a trance, I grabbed my Tyra’s arm and mumbled something about going to the bathroom before following him. I completely ignored her questions and concerns about where I was going, dead set on talking to him again even though I didn’t have a damn idea what I was going to say.
Somehow, through the giant maze of people, I was able to spot Yunho leaving through the backstage. Instinctively I ran towards him, still having no plan in mind. I only stopped when a purple-headed man appeared before me.
“Y/n!” He smiled, bringing me into a hug, “I missed you so much!” He pulled back from me, “We all did.”
Seonghwa and Wooyoung came from behind me, both wearing sad, kind smiles. They looked healthy and happy, which was all I could’ve asked for them.
“How’ve you been, girl?” Seonghwa cocked his head, genuinely curious.
I hesitated, not sure if I should tell them the truth. But at the end of the day, they were still my friends. “Not...great. If I’m being honest. I was kinda hoping I could talk to Yunho...if I could.”
They all shared a look I couldn’t understand.
Wooyoung spoke up, “We’re having a party at a friend’s house after this, you should come.”
I was surprised, still not fully understanding the situation.
San frowned, “I think it would be good for you two to talk. He didn’t tell us too much about what happened, but I’m sure you had a good reason. You were always so good to all of us.”
“I can text you the address if you’d like,” Wooyoung added, “You still have the same number?”
I nodded.
“Okay, good. We need to get back but we’ll see you there. Take care, okay?”
“I will. Thanks guys.”
San pulled me in for another hug, “Of course.”
They waved as we parted ways and for the first time that night, I felt hopeful. I spotted Shang and Tyra and ran up to them, no doubt a smile on my face as I asked, “Soo...you guys up for a party?”
-
I ditched my friends the moment we arrived, barely even sparing a word with Seonghwa, San, and Wooyoung once they nudged me in the direction of Yunho. I didn’t try to think too much about it, knowing I’d explain it all to them later.
He was standing in an empty bedroom, looking at the floor and sipping out of a red cup which likely contained liquor. When his eyes met mine a rush of memories flooded back to me. The first time we kissed, the first time he confessed he loved me, the first time he saw me cry.
The first time I broke his heart.
His eyes raised to mine, his face stoic, “Enjoy the show?”
My mouth opened and closed, not having any clue what to say to him, “Yunho I-”
“I know why you did it.” He said suddenly, “A week after you left me Lucy showed up to one of our shows and tried to convince me it was all a coincidence. Said that I could finally be with her. When I didn’t buy it she finally gave in and told me she convinced you we were better apart. So naturally I called the cops and they arrested her for breaking the restraining order, thank god.” He shook his head, looking disgusted, “You know I never wanted us to be apart. My question to you,” he took a step further towards me, “is why did you do it? Why did you end us?”
When I couldn’t seem to respond he talked once more, “You could’ve told me what she was trying to do. We could’ve worked it out together.” He looked more disappointed and heartbroken rather than angry.
He doesn’t deserve this. He doesn’t deserve any of this.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Yunho.” I bit my tongue as I fought back tears, “I’m not asking for you to forgive me. I-I’m just-” I sobbed, “Lucy told me she would kill you if I kept dating you.”
Yunho’s mouth shut and eyes widened, clearly missing that bit of information. I took it as my cue to continue “I don’t know why she did it, but it’s probably because we were happy.”
More tears fell down my face and it became harder for me to talk, but I owed him the truth. I had to tell him the truth. I looked up at him but because of my tears my vision was blurred. Yunho’s hands were tightening into fists as he looked away from me.
“I couldn’t tell you because I had to protect you so I had to make you hate me and I’m just so sorry.” I fell to the ground, my body feeling as heavy as my heart.
I felt a warm hand on my shoulder and I brought my eyes to meet his own, “I’m sorry.” A tear streamed down his cheek, heavy remorse in his eyes, “God she’s fucking awful.”
A laugh got caught in my throat, “Yeah she is.”
He set his cup down somewhere along the way a his hands cupped my face, finally whispering the words I’d only heard in dreams, “I still love you so fucking much. I never stopped loving you. I never even tried to stop because I know I couldn’t.”
I jumped into his arms and kissed him hard, unintentionally knocking him to the floor. He met my lips with just as much fire, groaning when I unconsciously bucked my hips into his, all my sexual frustration still pent up.
“I missed you so fucking much.” Yunho growled, obviously feeling needy too but deciding against it as he wrapped his arms around my waist, speaking in between kisses, “I missed your cute laugh. I missed your lips. I missed your fucking awful jokes. I missed the way you’d look at me whenever you told me you loved me. I missed your gorgeous body and your smile. I missed your moans and the way you arched your back when we’d have sex. I missed how alive you made me feel.” He pulled back to look at me, “My life had no purpose without you.”
I took a breath, tears once more falling, “Mine didn’t either.” It wasn’t anything profound or emotional, but it was the truth. It didn’t.
Gently picking me up, he placed me on the bed. His eyes were raw, as emotional as they could ever be. Taking my hands in his, he looked at me as if I would disappear at any minute.
“Stay with me. Come with us on the rest of the tour. If you can’t take a vacation we’ll hire you as an assistant. If you can’t do that we’ll make some other kind of accommodation. Just stay, please. Please be mine again.”
I looked at the man in front of me. The tough-looking, six-foot tall, tattooed, strong man that could probably scare the shit out of anyone. Yet here he was, bearing his heart to me and being as vulnerable as a person could be.
I smiled, feeling my heart swell. “I’ve only ever been yours.”
-
The morning was bright, lighting directly hitting my eyes. I cursed myself for not closing the blinds the night before and blinked off my sleep when I heard a familiar pleasant sound.
Jumping down from the bed I put on the new fluffy bathrobe my lover bought me. I followed Yunho’s voice out to my porch, realizing I was listening to a new song of his. The man was strumming a guitar, a beautiful melody falling from his lips. When he noticed me, he smiled and continued to sing.
“I’m in a vivid yellow mood
You’re my muse, my home and room
And now that I have you again
What could I ever fear?
Oh do me a favor, dear
And inscribe your name on my sleeve
Let me keep it there forever
Because you’re better than any daydream.”

w. fushiguro megumi ⊹ playlist
[ fluff , gn!reader ]
Tumblr media
music was the one thing that kept megumi sane. through all of the chaotic antics itadori and nobara dragged him into and all of the intense exorcisms, music grounded him. that's why on his bus ride back to the academy, earbuds were planted firmly in his ears.
the mellow guitar and striking drums accompanied by daniel caesar's soprano vocals flowed out of the small device. 'death & taxes' was slowly easing the stress out of megumi's body. he could also relate to the lyrics a little too much.
fushiguro sat in serenity, only the tunes keeping him company. until you took the seat next to him. his shoulder rose almost unnoticeably, one of the earbuds popping out of his ear.
"hi fushiguro-kun!" you smiled brightly.
he turned to face you fully, which turned out to be a mistake. the sunset pouring through the bus windows was doing you many favors. it's warm pink, red, and orange hues illuminating the peaks of your face aesthetically. megumi swore he could see the last embers of sun sparkling in your eyes.
previously mentioned eyes were drawn to the white device hanging from megumi's ear. "what are you listening to?" you inquired, motioning to it.
"daniel caesar," he answered, turning away from you again. megumi assumed the conversation was over and went to grab his earbud again, but was met with air. your fingers had already plucked the bud from it's position and placed it in your ear. you shuffled closer to him so the cord didn't run out of space. shoulders pressed against each other, the only sounds were the wheels on the pavement and the soft vocals.
just then, the track faded out and the next started. the synth-like chords of 'loose' began playing. after a few moments of silence, you spoke up, "i like this song." fushiguro's glance flitted over to your face to track any signs of sarcasm. he simply nodded with a small smile when he found none.
the two of you sat in silence, enjoying the music. when the song came to a close, you nudged megumi's arm. "could i play a song?" you asked, peering into his eyes. he calmly met your gaze while humming in agreement.
fushiguro pulled his phone out of his pocket and handed it to you. you quietly thanked him before opening his music app. pressing on (fav song), you tried to subtly measure megumi's reaction. it was obvious you were staring at him, but he decided to make no comment.
"this song is really good," he muttered, eyebrows slightly furrowed. your heart jumped and a smile quickly took over your features. "really?" you asked happily. he offered a small nod in return.
giddy at megumi’s approval, you let your torso lean in to rest on his shoulder. the dark haired boy immediately tensed up and flushed a light pink before realising this sensation wasn’t,, the worst feeling,,
the bus finally rolled to a stop after two more songs had played. you stood up, bending down a little awkwardly when megumi didn’t so the earbud wasn’t ripped out of your ear.
“are you coming, fushiguro?”
deep blue eyes met yours, reflecting subtle surprise. he had assumed this was just a bus ride event, not a continued one. “yeah, sorry,” he apologized before quickly rising and standing next to you.
stiffly sidling down the bus isle, you two exited the vehicle. the sun had almost fully disappeared behind the horizon now. deep shadows were cast by every street sign and building, only the highest points being kissed by the suns remnants of light.
after a while of walking side by side in silence, arms occasionally brushing, you snuck a glance over at the boy. the bridge of his nose and apples of his cheeks were illuminated a soft red color, the rest of his skin shaded with a dull purple. tufts of raven hair blew against megumi’s complexion with the cool breeze.
the school was in sight now. you figured this was your last chance to spark a conversation with megumi before you parted ways. “you know, i didn’t think your music taste would be this good,” you spoke with a partially teasing tone. your voice caught his attention, words making him do a double take.
“really? does that mean you thought i listened to garbage?” fushiguro countered, a light smirk playing on his lips. your shoulders rose a little as your eyes widened, not expecting the quip.
“n-no! i never said that-“ you stuttered out, averting your gaze. your reaction drew a chuckle from megumi’s lips; a noise that definitely descended from angels. your breath caught in your throat at the sight before you.
megumi with his eyes fixed straight ahead, one earbud dangling from his ear. a smile was plastered on his face as he came down from his small fit of laughter. how could you not appreciate the art? seriously, how
you had finally arrived at the dorms. reaching up to your ear, you removed the device and moved in front of megumi. “what’re you doi-“
he cut himself off when you leaned in to his face, breath fanning across his skin. your free hand cupped megumi’s cheek to turn his head to the side while the other placed the earbud back in his ear. as if fushiguro wasn’t flustered enough already, both of your hands settled on his cheeks to face him towards you.
“thanks for letting me listen with you,” you beamed softly. megumi drew in a breath before responding,
“any time.”
...
the serene moment was ruined by a loud shout down the hallway. “oi, what took you two so long?!” itadori yelled, rushing down the hall with nobara in tow. you quickly jumped away from fushiguro, embarrassed that your roommates had witnessed the intimate interaction.
“sorry, sorry! next time we won’t be late,” you apologized profusely as nobara started dragging you to your shared dorm.
“next time?”
Tumblr media
a/n: huge shoutout to jae for helping me with this, and majorly feeding my megumi brainrot <3

Niki Lauda (Rush 2013) x Catherine/Reader
WC: 756
Rated: G
Chapter Tags: a little angsty? existential, fluff, David Bowie greatness, Niki knows more than he lets on
A/N: David Bowie holds a special place in my heart, which inspired this fic. Very long story very short, I had extremely bad mental health issues when I was 15/16, I heard the song Heroes, and my life actually changed. I’m the kind of person that is extremely emotionally affected by music, and the song just overwhelmed me in the best way. I kept going because of it, 10 years later I even have a tattoo for it to remind me of my own strength. So this oneshot is really just self indulgent for me.
🌌
Your birthday fell on a Friday this year. Niki had requested that you came home promptly after work. You had no idea what he was planning, you weren’t really pressed on celebrating your birthday. Nevertheless he insisted you had somewhere to be.
Watching as he closed a small piece of luggage in the trunk of his black sedan, you eye him curiously. “Still not telling me?”
“You will see when we get there, liebe. Have patience.” Huffing, you got into the car. He was too good at keeping secrets.
The drive was pleasant enough. Niki left his hand on the inside of your thigh; your own rested atop his. The sun dipped low in the sky. Blues met pinks, oranges, and purples.
If you had to guess, you would have said it had been at least two hours since you left.
“Are we at least close to whatever secret location you are taking me to?” you ask, breaking the silence.
“Yes.” It’s all your husband is willing to give you.
The first notes of the song begin over the car radio. A soft guitar intro flows through the speakers; leaning forward you turn the dial to increase the volume. You hum to the tune before opening your mouth to sing along.
There’s a starman waiting in the sky, he’d like to come and meet us but he thinks he’d blow our minds.
There’s a starman waiting in the sky, he’s told us not to blow it ‘cause he knows it’s all worthwhile.
You let out a wistful sigh. “I would absolutely die to see him in concert someday. I don’t think I’ve gone to a concert since before we met. He’s on a world tour right now too.”
“Who is this?” Niki plays dumb. He knows exactly who it is. Just like he knows exactly which tour you are referring to. The very same tour he’s currently driving you to see.
You gasp in shock at his question. “It’s David Bowie! I play his records all the time! I made you listen to his latest just the other day, Niki. Maybe you should get your ears checked after being around those loud cars all day.”
“Ah. The English guy with the crazy outfits,” he nods. “My ears are fine, I just did not remember his name.”
“Well, you’d do right to remember from now on if you want this marriage to work,” you tell him in your hautiest voice, sticking your chin up at him.
Soon after Niki pulls into a jam-packed lot of cars. Teenagers and young adults roam around outside the giant building. There is an air of excitement in the atmosphere. As Niki parks you spot someone in the distance with neon orange hair and a red-blue lightning bolt painted across their face. Turning the other direction there is a teen in turquoise eyeshadow and a bright blue jacket. “Niki where-? Why is everyone dressed like Bowie?” What is going on? Did he…?
Your gaze returns to your husband next to you. In his hands are a pair of tickets. David Bowie tickets. I must look like a damned fish with my mouth hung open, you think.
“You mentioned it a month ago. We were sitting in the living room and you were playing the new record. The last song came on and you looked up from your book. You said ‘Niki. This is the song. This is the song you go hear him sing and it changes your life.’ I bought tickets the next day. A coincidence that it was your birthday.”
There are no words to express your shock and excitement. So you kiss him, your hands plastered to his cheeks.
🌌
You were right that day. Hearing Bowie sing the song awoke such emotion within you that there was nothing you could have done to stop it. His lyrics resonated throughout you, the music sending tingles along your spine and goose pimples over your flesh. Your entire being was alight.
I, I will be king.
You felt as though every single emotion had taken over all at once.
And you, you will be queen.
Every sorrow, every joy, every hope, every ounce of love overwhelming you.
Though nothing will drive them away.
You felt everything.
We can be heroes, just for one day.
The universe had collided within your soul, obliterating you in the process. Niki just rocked you gently, his arms wrapped around your middle as the tears slipped down your smiling face. You were limitless. Cosmic. You were heroes.

Loved By A Heartbreaker Chapter One

Being at Hogwarts with the marauders was annoying. Being in the same house as them was frustrating. Being in their friend group was interesting. Sirius Black being a marauder was infuriating.
You were basically dropped into that band of nitwits (and Remus) when Lily finally said yes to a date with James. You liked and were friends with everyone in the group, other than Sirius you two had a...strange ‘relationship’.
You were one of the few people there who didn’t worship the ground he walked on. You think that’s why Sirius was determined to ‘date you’. And yet you, and everyone with a brain, knew that all he wanted was to be your boyfriend for a month (if you're ‘lucky’ to not be a one night stand) and get in your pants just to move on and to leave you to join the broken hearts club just like everyone else, misery loves company, right?
You were walking back to the common room with Lily. The two of you talking about how your days had been going. “...Oh by the way! Me and James are heading to the black lake tonight, wanna join us?” Lily smiled at you with bright eyes. When she and James started dating her eyes seemed brighter than they used to be. If that was even possible.
“I’d rather not third wheel you two love birds, It’s bad enough I have to listen to you sleep talk about him” You teased with a grin. Even though she laughed with you, her freckled cheeks turned pink and she started playing with the ends of her hair. Something she had picked up when you first started teasing her about James. She knew you’re joking, and you knew how much of the teasing she was ok with, you two were best friends and knew eachother like the back of your hands, practically sisters.
“I don’t sleep talk! Especially not about James”
“Then who is it I hear at three am mumbling ‘James you’re so lovely’ ‘Aww James’ ‘You’re so handsome’ ” She shoved your shoulder both of you laughing as you shoved her back.
The moment was ruined when you felt an arm wrap around your shoulders. You instantly knew who it was without even looking. Sirius is the only person who would pull that on you, plus you could smell his cigarette smoke. “Oh! You think I’m handsome?”
You have him a quick once over before he could notice and use it against you in someway, it was like he wasn’t even wearing the uniform, yes he had the white shit and black pants on, but his tie was just laying on his shoulders and you didn’t think even he knew where his cloak was.
“You wish Sirius. Still addicted to cigarettes are we?” You pushed him off your shoulders “The only thing I’m addicted to is you” He flirts, you had to admit, you set yourself up for that one. “Can we ever have a normal conversation, Sirius? Why do you always have to be flirting with me?”
“Cause I want to be with you darling!” He grinned with a smug look on his face. You raised your eyebrows with amused irritation. Lily was still walking beside you two, grinning ear to ear, she always loved when you put Sirius in his place, it was very entertaining for her.
“How long will it take to get it though your head that I don’t want to have sex with you Sirius?”  “I’m not trying to have sex with you, I’m trying to be your boyfriend, although, I wouldn’t turn down a night. Or more. With you.” He winked
Rolling your eyes you swung around and pushed him to the wall, pinning him there with your hands at the sides of his head. He could feel your warm breath on his chapped lips. His eyes widened and his smirk faltered for a moment. If you blinked you would have missed it. “Why can’t you let me be sad and lonely?” You whispered seductively in his ear, making him shudder a bit, even though he tried to hide it. He was glad that the wall you pushed him too was dark enough that you couldn't see the blush on his cheeks.
“Cause I can’t let a pretty girl slip away, now can I?” Rolling your eyes again, you tied his tie around his neck properly, and pulled it a bit too tight choking him a bit (although he didn’t seem to mind that much) before you pushed yourself back off the wall and started walking away, he stayed at the wall for a moment to catch his breath and reagan his composure, pulling his tie down so the knot was at his chest, not near his neck where it should be (apparently he’s too edgy to wear a tie properly) before he goes after you.
“Just give me a chance! Buttercup please don’t break my heart!” He fake pouted. Merlin you hated the nicknames he gave you, he always seemed to be finding new ones too, you swore he had found stolen a book from the library that was full of them and studied that instead of his school work.
“Sirius! I don’t want to participate in your game of manipulation. Just like everyone else, you’ll kiss me and then forget me” You called back to him not bothered to look over your shoulder. You just wanted to go back to the common room and study with Lily and Remus, why was that so hard?
“I would never and could never forget you beautiful!”
“Sirius, how do you always feel so proud? After all the people you’ve hurt, after all the people you’ve dated and left heartbroken, you expect me to want to be with you just so you can do the same to me? Yeah no, I don’t think so. You’re just a boy trying to outrun karma, but it’ll catch up to you Sirius, you’ll see” You turned to him and glared
“You think that now doll, but when you say yes, you’ll see I would never do that to you” As you both continued to walk thought the practically empty halls back to the Gryffindor common room he wrapped his arm around your waist, but you didn’t bother to move away or shove him off, as he'd only end up holding you in some other way again but pull you even closer.
Anytime you two talked or were even near eachother, he’d make you lose your mind again. And you’d lose it another thousand times.
Sirius Black was going to be the death of you.

mercy, my beloved <33 prompt: triple threat dancing in the kitchen? maybe in the evening or in the morning with the sun shining gold through the window, and someone plays some song on their phone left on the counter, and they dance together across the kitchen floor <3 slow dance? silly dance? up to you! <3
Jace my beloved <33 Thank you,,, SO MUCH for my very first Henry Stickmin prompt! I love this trio to death, and I always wanted to try this! This shall also be posted on my AO3 bc I actually feel proud of this-!
As the door opened up to a small, cramped apartment, and two pairs of feet came stumbling into the doorway, a figure resting their head on the couch muttered out a few words before rolling onto their other side. Charles could only let out a chuckle as they hoisted up the bags stuck in their arms, sparing a look at Ellie. “ Here, I can get that, you go wake up the sleepyhead. “ A hand came out, motioning for another bag, but Ellie just shook their head, kicking off their shoes on their way to the kitchen. “ Nah, I know what wakes em up. Plus.. we just got some... “ The other two bags were dropped up on the counter, and the rummaging of paper came up. Charles only put down their bag to pull off their boots, when Ellie pulled out the coffee pot from the machine. A sudden sound from the couch rose up, along with a very messy head of hair. Bleary eyes blink, turning towards the kitchen. “ … you guys makin coffee? “ Charles let out a laugh as Ellie shrugged, starting to fill up the pot. “ Like clockwork. “
After the machine dispensed a few cups of steaming coffee, proper sugar and milk dumped into the overly large mugs (Except for Charles, that madman was already on his second cup in the time Ellie poured them and Henry a cup), and the majority of the bags were unloaded into the fridge, Ellie sat back up, placing their mug in the sink.  “ Still don’t know how you two are obsessed with this stuff. “ Charles only shook his head, taking another sip of his own mug. “ When you fly for hours on end, you need something more than energy drinks. Which, word of advice, don’t mix five-hour energy with a monster. You won’t sleep for almost a week… “ His eyes lingered on the mug, then went to meet Henry’s. “ … that means don’t do that. “ Henry raised his hands up in surrender, chuckling. “ Come on, I’ve learned my lesson last time. No energy drinks for me… “ A sudden bit of music tingled up, and both turned their heads to see Ellie placing their phone onto the countertop. She let out a smile seeing the others stare. “ I’m gonna be cooking, I need something to listen to. “ “ So you don’t want to listen to us? For shame Ells- “
“ Come on Ellie, Our voices aren’t that bad- “
“ If I need to listen to the both of you bantering like an old couple as I’m chopping vegetables I would go insane. I prefer my music thank you very much “
“ . . . “
“ . . . but we are a couple. “
Henry could only smile as he sat up, and walked over to Ellie, wrapping their arms around Ellie’s sides. “ Come on, you know we love you tooooooo~ “ Ellie laughed- lightly nudging Henry away, before pushing some of the vegetables away as they turned, pressing a light kiss to their cheek. Henry went pink at that, but still smiled. “ Aww wait, Ellie, save one for meee- “ A clatter from the living room, and the two former thieves found themselves in the pilot’s embrace. Now faced with many more kisses peppered across both faces, the trio was dissolving into a flurry of laughter once again. Henry was holding onto the sleeve of Charles’s jacket, Ellie was gripping to the back of his blue hoodie, and Charles was swirling them around the small kitchen. Another song queued up, and Charles slowed his pace, settling on lightly swaying with the tune. Soft lyrics chimed out from the phone’s speakers, as the others ended up laying their hands on Charles’s shoulders.
Missing pieces of my skull
Charles’s soft voice was almost like honey, melting over the three of them. Mixing together, sweet as sugar. Soft as clouds. The smell of cinnamon, always lingering.
I'll sew on patches of my own soul
Ellie nuzzled themselves into the faux fur of the jacket, smiling to themselves. The strands of red falling in messy waves on Charles’s shoulder. Amber eyes open up to join in, another melody twirling together.
There's nothing you or I can do so let the stars fall
The steps all around the tiny kitchen were measured, making sure no one pumped into something, or not to snag against the handles of the drawers.
Cause from up here the sky's my thoughts and we're all so small
A third voice now, making the two turn, and both smile. Quiet, soft, muted, but there. Words already engraved into memory, late nights eating fast food, sodas on the counter…
Meteor shower, quick take cover
Nights out to 24-hour cafes, missions together...
But the hues in our hair complement one another
Insomnia-filled confessions, ending with a kiss from everyone...
I'd sell my own bones for sapphire stones
Sleepy piles on the couch, morning kisses as they part ways for missions….
Cause blue's your favorite color
The song continued on, as the trio continued standing there, swaying with the song, before Ellie finally nudging away from the group. Two last kisses on the other’s cheeks, before they playfully pushed the others away from the area.  “ Alright alright you two, let me actually start cooking so we don’t need to order out again- “ The duo laughed, as they found purchase on the couch again.
“ So… what movie we watching tonight? “ “ Chicken Lit- “ “ NO! “ “ Aw come onnnnn- “

Bathroom Ballads (Kelley O’Hara x Reader)
Tumblr media
Kelley and the reader have absolutely no boundaries, meaning they have no problem with sharing the bathroom in the morning when they get ready, and when they go to sleep. What happens when music is added into the mix? Impromptu concerts in the bathroom of course.
This fic gets a little smutty, so be ready for thatttttt. ;)
Kelley rolls her eyes as she pushes into the hotel’s bathroom the shower running as you hum to a random song playing on your phone that’s lying next to the sink.
“Kel?” You call out and the defender laughs.
“Yep, it’s me, who else would come in here with you singing like that?” She snickers and you scoff.
“How dare you, I am the next Taylor Swift.” You gasp and Kelley snorts as she squeezes tooth paste onto her toothbrush.
“And I’m the next Beyoncé.” She rolls her eyes, jamming her toothbrush in her mouth.
You peek out of the shower, flicking water at the woman before you duck back behind the curtain.
“You’re just jealous, it’s okay to admit it.” You tease and Kelley rolls her eyes grinning mischievously when she reaches for the toilet handle, giving it a flush.
“BITCH!” You yell when the hot water turns freezing cold, you shying away from the shower head in fear of turning into a popsicle.
“HE HE.” Kelley snorts as she finishes brushing her teeth before slipping out of the bathroom, you calling after her.
“I’ll get you back for this O’Hara!”
                                                           ***
“Oh my god, what did you do to Y/N?” Alex asks when Kelley dodges yet another ball you fire at her, the woman snickering as she sticks her tongue out at you.
“I flushed the toilet while she was taking a shower this morning.” She laughs and Sonnett gasps from where she’s at on field,
“That’s cold!” She shouts and you pout,
“It was! She was trying to freeze me to death.” You whine and Kelley laughs.
“BUT did you freeze?” She puts her hands on her hips and rolls her eyes.
You growl.
“No, I didn’t but I’ll get you back.” You sneer and Kelley’s eyes widen. She leans back towards Alex.
“I’m staying with you and Allie tonight.” She whispers and Alex snorts.
“No, you aren’t.” Allie laughs on her way by and you smirk as Kelley mumbles under her breath.
“Fuck.”
                                                           ***
“Okay! Okay!” Kelley laughs as you snap her with the wet towel, you’d just used to shower with the woman cowering behind the hotel’s toilet.
You take a step but back only to playfully snap the towel at her again, smirking when the woman ducks back behind the toilet.
“You’re evil.” She whispers and you shrug, throwing the towel at her for her to use during her shower.
“Take your shower, you stink.” You jest and Kelley rolls her eyes.
“You bitch.” She mumbles and you turn to her, tongue trapped between your teeth as you send her a wink.
“Thank you, that’s the sweetest thing anyone’s ever said about me.” You snort and Kelley rolls her eyes, watching as you go.
After she had gotten in the shower you’d come back in to brush your teeth glancing at the shower curtain with a smile when you hear Kelley singing softly.
“GET IT BEYONCE!” You shout seconds later a crash sounding from the other side of the shower curtain.
“DAMN IT Y/N!” Kelley screams and you kneel down on the floor, your arms wrapped around your middle as tears stream down your face.
“Are you okay?” You laugh and suddenly the shower curtain shifts, Kelley’s head poking over the edge of the tub.
“No, stop laughing you asshole!” She pouts and you bite your bottom lip, hard to try to continue your laughter, but you ultimately fail, again laughing like a rabid hyena.
Kelley shakes her head, she too laughing from her place where she’s laying in the tub.
“That really did hurt.” She mumbles and though you’re laughing, you frown.
“Are you alright?” You ask and she nods, laughing.
“It was pretty funny.” She snorts and you throw your head back with a chuckle.
“It was.”
                                                           ***
The following morning you can’t help but cringe when you see the bruise on the side of Kelley’s thigh that’s poking slightly out from beneath her towel.
“I’m sorry.” You cringe nodding to the bruise and Kelley glances down, wincing.
“I didn’t even notice that.” She sucks air in through her teeth and you frown, walking up to the woman whose cheeks flush.
You surprise Kelley by brushing your fingertips along it.
“I’m sorry, does it hurt?” You ask and Kelley shakes her head, swallowing hard.
“N-No.” She whispers and you nod, turning away so the woman can get in the shower.
“I’m not looking.” You sing and Kelley rolls her eyes, dropping her towel and slipping behind the shower curtain.
Kelley sighs at the field of the warm water and you frown.
“Still, I’m so sorry.” You glance at the shower curtain and Kelley pokes her head out from behind it.
“It’s okay, it’s not like I didn’t try to freeze you to death.” She teases and you shake your head, laughing.
“That’s true.”
Kelley smirks as she ducks back into the shower, leaving you to brush your teeth, turning on your music, as per usual.
The familiar tune starts to play and you hum along as always, though when the vocals start you part your lips ready to sing along, but instead of your voice, you hear a soft voice from within the shower.
We are friends for life Hold that, deep inside Let this be a drive To survive
You smile, watching the shower curtain as you join Kelley’s raspy voice in singing.
And just stand high and tall Make sure you give your all And if you fall   Know that I’m right here
Kelley stands still smiling to herself as she glances towards you, you being a blurry blob thanks to the shower curtain cutting her vision off.
We’ll always be together don’t you worry I’ll always be by your side, don’t you worry The circle will never end, just know that we’ll meet again And we’ll always be together, forever, always
"You know, this song is sappy as fuck.” Kelley laughs from in the shower and you throw your head back, chuckling, nonetheless, she yet again sings along with you.
We’ll always be together don’t you worry I’ll always be by your side, don’t you worry The circle will never end, just know that we’ll meet again And we’ll always be together, forever, always
“Oh, so the song’s sappy, but you know every lyric?” You knock on the shower curtain and she scoffs.
“Shut up and sing Y/N.” She demands and you roll your eyes, singing the last bit of the song along with the woman in the shower.
We’ll always be together don’t you worry I’ll always be by your side, don’t you worry The circle will never end, just know that we’ll meet again And we’ll always be together, forever, always
“WE’LL BE HERE ALL WEEK!” Kelley yells in the shower and you laugh shaking your head.
At the sound of your laughter, Kelley’s cheeks flush as she shakes her head, glad to call you her best friend, even if you are an idiot.
Though she can’t lie, that at the sound of your laughter, her heart skips a beat.
                                                           ***
Kelley rolls her eyes, watching as you do you stretches, playfully kicking at Sonnett who glares your way, before attempting to kick you back.
“Are you trying to attack my son!?” Kelley gasps, her hand on her chest and you arch a brow, smirking.
“And if I am?” You challenge, smirk splitting into a cocky grin.
Kelley pulls up a piece of grass and throws it on you, the blade of grass never even getting close to you.
Emily turns to Kelley, eyes wide.
“That’s all the effort I’m worth!?” She exclaims and Kelley smiles.
“Nope.”
You jump when a number of bodies dive on you, the children of the team springing in to action to defend Sonnett’s honor.
You laugh as Sonnett crawls over, the other babies of the team holding you while she gives you a noogie.
“Okay! Okay!” You laugh, kids relinquishing their holds only when your hair is an absolute mess.
You cross your arms across your chest, bottom lip jutted out and Kelley laughs, scooting closer to you with a grin.
Much to your surprise, she delicately pulls the ponytail out of your hair before taming your wild locks with her finger, running them through your hair, her nails digging into your scalp.
You close your eyes, letting out a hum that makes Kelley’s cheeks flush.
Little do either of you know, everyone’s eyes are on you as Kelley tames your messy hair as delicately as she can, cheeks tinged pink when you lean back into her.
Sonnett stealthily, or so she thinks, rolls across the turf towards Alex who’s chatting with Allie, unaware of what’s going on between you and Kelley.
The blonde gives her a nudge and Alex turns to her, brow furrowed, but a single nod towards the two of you has Alex’s blue orbs following her gaze and she grins, immediately getting the attention of Allie who also grins.
“There.” Kelley claps her hands and you smile, glancing over your shoulder, lips splitting in half to show of your pearly white teeth.
“Thanks, Kel.” You put a hand on her calf, just now realizing you were sitting between her spread legs.
Kelley’s blush is so red it rivals that of a tomato when she nods rapidly.
“No problem.”
                                                           ***
“Of course, an equally sappy song.” Kelley says, voice muffled by the tooth brush in her mouth.
“Shut up and sing it O’Hara, you know you know the lyrics.” You snark from the shower and Kelley rolls her eyes, cheeks flushed pink when the song starts.
It’s like we’re sleeping and this is a dream   It’s like a movie. cut to the love scene We’re going so fast; I think it’s fast enough Whoa
Kelley snickers as you belt out the rest of the lyrics, unaware that you’re singing into a bar of soap.
It’s just the first date, don’t wanna fall yet It’s just a crush, yeah, how bad could it get?   I said there’s no way I’d ever fall in love Whoa, but
“KELLEY! Sing along or I’ll yeet this bar of soap at you.” You grumble and Kelley rolls her eyes, joining you none the less.
I confess My hands are shaking, baby, I’m a mess My heart is racing when you touch me, yes Look at me baby Look what you started Look what you started Falling now, but if you kiss me, I’ll be on the ground You see, my head is spinning round and round I’m going crazy   Look what you started Look what you started
You grin, cheeks flushing from more than the hot water running over you when Kelley sings, voice soft and raspy, far from confident, much unlike you’re used to when it comes to the defender.
Your arms around me, I’m kind of freaking out   I like it, baby, but maybe not right now Look what you started   You got me all screwed up Yeah
You’re entranced by the woman’s voice, heart skipping a beat when her voice steels, confidence rising.
Yeah there’s a part of me, that wants to run away But, baby, part of me is telling me to stay Look what you started   You got me all screwed up Yeah, oh
The shower curtain rustles and you jump, nearly falling in the bathtub and Kelley snorts.
“Aren’t we supposed to be singing?” She giggles and you grin, biting your bottom lip as you start dancing behind the curtain, bobbing your head and singing loudly.
I confess My hands are shaking, baby, I’m a mess My heart is racing when you touch me, yes Look at me, baby Look what you started Look what you started Falling now, but if you kiss me, I’ll be on the ground You see, my head is spinning round and round I’m going crazy   Look what you started Look what you started
The silliness stops, the two of you taking on a more serious tone as the song begins reaching its end, the lyrics holding a deeper meaning than the two of you realize in that very moment.
With your hands on me, making it so I can’t breath   Just stop No, don’t stop, please Look at me now Look what you started   Look what you started now
I confess My hands are shaking, baby, I’m a mess my heart is racing when you touch me, yes Look at me baby
You glance at Kelley’s blurry figure through the hotel’s shower curtain unaware that she’s turned towards you as well, a small smile on her face as she sings. Falling now, but if you kiss me, I’ll be on the ground You see, my head is spinning round and round I’m going crazy   Look what you started Look what you started now
Look what you started now
The final lyrics are whispered, the two of you standing stock still, semi lukewarm water spraying down on you as you look at Kelley’s blurry outline through the curtain, your heart racing.
“You alive in there?” You hear Kelley ask and you snicker, cheeks flushed.
“Yeah, I am.”
                                                           ***
You’re zoned out, watching as Kelley races around field, tackling the ball away from an England defender.
A nudge pulls you out of your trance and you turn to the woman beside you, who just so happens to be Christen Press, Tobin Heath leaning around her with a grin.
“What’s on your mind dude?” Tobin asks and you clear your throat, cheeks and ears reddening.
“Uhh, nothing.” You whisper, your voice sounding foreign to your own ears.
“Hmmm.” You hear a hum from the other side of you and jump, turning to see, Emily, Rose and Mallory eyeing you intently.
“Are you sure?” Emily asks eyes, narrowed and you blush.
“I’m sure.”
Emily, Rose and Mallory share a glance before eyeing Christen and Tobin the two women smirking.
“Whatever you sayyyyy.” Rose sings and you turn to her with a glare, grumbling under your breath.
“You should tell her.” Christen whispers and your eyes widen, glazing over as you look into her shining green orbs.
You turn back to Kelley watching as she moves down field right in front of you, brown orbs darting to you for a millisecond before the ball is again at her feet.
You watch her expression change, face steeling as she focuses on the ball.
You shake your head, glancing away, your chest light and heart racing as your stomach coils.
You were falling for her.
You were falling in love with your best friend and you didn’t think you could stop...
A part of you didn’t want to, but you knew, she could never feel the same.
                                                           ***
“Going with a sad song today?” Kelley asks when she walks into the bathroom, hair still damp from her earlier shower where as yours is completely soaked.
You shrug.
“Changing it up I guess.” You sigh and Kelley nods, eyes narrowed. She grabs her tooth brush squirting tooth paste onto the brush just as the song starts.
I'm jealous of the rain That falls upon your skin It's closer than my hands have been Oh, I'm jealous of the rain
Kelley stills, head down as she listens to you sing the song softly, afraid to join as a lump forms in her throat, her chest tightening.
I'm jealous of the wind That ripples through your clothes It's closer than your shadow Oh, I'm jealous of the wind
Kelley mouths along with the lyrics, though a sound never slips passed her moving lips, listening to you sing soft and somberly.
Cause I wished you the best of All this world could give And I told when you left me There's nothing to forgive
You’re too focused on singing that you don’t even realize Kelley hasn’t joined in, your chest aching as if your heart is crying out for you to turn the song off.
But I always thought you'd come back, tell me All you found was heartbreak and misery It's hard for me to say, I'm jealous of the way You're happy without me
You turn to Kelley when she starts to sing, voice sounding almost broken, watery as she sings along with the lyrics, not singing though, more like whispering them softly.
I'm jealous of the night That I don't spend with you Wondering who you're lying next to Oh, I'm jealous of the night
You swallow hard, turning away, feigning the need to search for something when in reality you’re trying to hold back tears.
I'm jealous of the love Love that wasn't here Is going for someone else to share Oh, I'm jealous of the love
The first of your tears start to fall and you’re quick to swipe them away, not realizing that Kelley is in a similar state.
Cause I wished you the best of All this world could give And I told you when you left me There's nothing to forgive but I always thought you'd come back, tell me All you found was heartbreak and misery It's hard for me to say, I'm jealous of the way you're happy without me and
As I sink in the sand And I watch you slip through my hand As I die here another day babe Cause all I do is cry behind a smile
You sing along, voice as sorrowful and bleak as Kelley’s, but much louder than it had been a second ago, more emotion behind each of your voices.
I wish you the best of Of all this world could give And I told you when you left me There's nothing to forgive but I always thought you'd come back, tell me All you found was heartbreak and misery
And It's hard for me to say I'm jealous of the way you're happy you're happy without me And It's hard for me to say I'm jealous of the way you're happy you're happy without me And It's hard for me to say I'm jealous of the way you're happy you're happy without You're happy without me
You clear your throat, wiping at your cheeks with the back of your hand. You glance over, quickly realizing that Kelley is doing the same.
“Stupid song.” She mumbles, chuckling softly and you nod, your eyes still on her as another tear slips down your cheek.
“Yeah... Stupid song.”
Kelley leaves the bathroom soon after, and to be honest, you’re happy, happy because she won’t see the tears sliding down your cheeks, but you also won’t see the ones falling down hers.
                                                           ***
It doesn’t surprise you when you and Kelley put distance between the two of you, your song choice having more of an effect on the both of you than you realized it would.
A sudden knock on your hotel room’s door makes you groan, burying yourself deeper in your blankets in an attempt to hide from the outside world.
The knocking, thankfully, stops but when you hear the door swing open, you stiffen.
You remain still, hoping the intruder will go away, but instead, you feel someone poke your side, repeatedly over and over again.
“Stop it.” You snarl, the prodding immediately stopping.
“Yep, she’s alive under there.” You hear Sonnett say and let out a whine.
“Go away.” You mumble, a snort sound seconds later.
“Yeah, no.” Lindsey scoffs and you groan even louder.
“Whyyyy not?” You whine pitifully, inhaling sharply when someone flops on top of you.
“Because, something happened between you and Kelley, and we’re not letting you mope all day.” You hear Tobin say and growl, seconds later grunting when someone, unsurprisingly, Christen flops down on top of you too.
“Now get up.”
You grumble angrily.
“I’m naked under here.” You fib, hoping they’ll fall for it, but no one does, the blankets being jerked off of you moments later, a number of the babies of the team with their eyes closed.
“Psh, you are not naked.” Sonnett scoffs. “Can’t say I’m not a little disappointed.” She mumbles, your pillow smacking her in the face moments later.
“Get out of here.” You whine louder, only for everyone to flop on the bed beside you.
“Come on Y/N, we can’t let you stay here by yourself; it won’t make you feel any better.” Christen runs her fingers through your hair.
You hum, the feel of Christen’s fingers running through your hair unlike Kelley’s.
You sigh.
“Okay...” You whisper softly, Tobin gently patting your back.
“Let’s get some ice-cream.” She pats your back and you smile, rolling your eyes when the kids in the room all excitedly scream.
“ICE CREAM!”
                                                           ***
“So, what happened?” Sonnett asks, her face buried in her ice cream cone.
You glance at her, brow furrowed, frown pulling the corners of your mouth down.
You shrug, only for Emily to scoff.
“Come on, you and Kelley are usually attached at the hip, something happened.” She turns away from her cone, face covered in ice cream, though her gaze remains fiery.
Tobin and Christen share a glance, the two smiling softly.
“You know, we heard you guys last night...” Christen whispers and your eyes double in size, your head jerking in her direction, eyes darting between Christen and Tobin.
“WHAT DID YOU HEAR!?” Sonnett and Lindsey scream at the same time and everyone within a block radius stops, those closest staring at the pair.
You swipe a fingertip in Sonnet’s ice cream and wipe it on her face, the blonde grumbling, though when Lindsey laughs, she does the same thing to her.
Christen rolls her eyes.
“Stop it children.” Tobin mumbles as she pushes her way between the two of them, slipping an arm around their shoulders.
“They were just singing.” Christen laughs and Mallory’s eyes widen slightly, as do Sam’s and Rose’s.
“Singing?” Emily chuckles and you roll your eyes.
“It became a thing when we get ready for bed...” You mumble and Tobin smirks.
“And in the morning.” She teases and you groan.
“It’s just our thing.” You shrug, smiling but them the smile drops from your face.
“At least it was…”
Christen surprises you by cupping your cheeks.
“It’s still your thing Y/N.” She smiles and you sigh gaze dropping to the sidewalk.
“What if it isn’t?” You ask, eyes glassy.
Sonnett passes her ice cream to Tobin before moving towards you and Christen, wrapping her arms around you from behind.
“I’m sure it still is.” She smiles and you sigh closing your eyes.
“I hope you’re right.”
A sudden loud crunch has ever give turning around, Tobin’s brown orbs wide as she munches on Emily’s ice cream cone.
“I wanted you to hold it! Not eat it!” The blonde swipes the tiny bit of cone away and Tobin grins, shrugging.
“Need to be more specific next time.” She snickers and Sonnett sighs, pouting as she looks down at her ice cream cone.
You shake your head, grabbing Emily’s hand, intertwining your fingers.
“Come on ill buy you another.”
Emily grins.
“My savior.”
                                                           ***
"I’m surprised...” Allie smirks, brow arched and Kelley’s brows furrow.
“Why?” She asks, voice flat and Alex smirks.
“We’re surprised you and Y/N aren’t attached at the hip.” She smirks, eyes widening when Kelley glances away, frowning sadly.
“She’s just busy that’s all.” She shrugs, Alex and Allie sharing a glance.
“Come on Kel, tell us what’s wrong.” Alex frowns and the defender sighs.
“I don’t want to talk about it, okay?” She whispers, voice wobbly and Alex nods, knowing that if she pries, she’ll only push Kelley away.
“Okay.” Alex nods, wrapping her arms around Kelley and giving her a squeeze, the defender only happy to return the woman’s affection.
Kelley jumps slightly, startled by the feel of her phone vibrating in her jeans pocket.
It’s with a heavy heart that she realizes it’s a notification from your Instagram... Though she’d never admit that she was alerted every time you made a post.
Looking at the picture, Kelley’s eyes narrow lip curling snarling.
“What’s wrong Wookie?” Allie asks, looking over her shoulder, eyes widening when she sees a picture of Christen cupping your cheeks, your faces not far apart.
“Oh...” She breathes out, eyes darting to Alex before darting to the phone and back.
The forward takes the phone, frowning when she sees the image on screen and the way that it has effected Kelley, in far from a positive way.
“Come on, let’s go for a walk.” She whispers and Kelley moves to her feet, silently seething.
Alex and Allie share a glance behind Kelley’s back, both sighing.
They didn’t know what happened between the two of you, but whatever it was, Kelley was about ten times angrier than she was when she showed up at their hotel room and that spelled trouble for everyone... But mostly for Y/N.
                                                           ***
The second you stepped into your hotel room later that night, you were worried, worried because you could hear not only music playing loudly from the music, but an aggressive, angry and raspy voice singing along.
I bust the windows out ya car And no it didn’t mend my broken heart I’ll probably always have these ugly scars But right now I don’t care about that part
You swallow hard, extremely hard.
Kelley was pissed.
You could tell she was pissed by the sound of her voice, and the fact that you could almost see smoke coming out from underneath the bathroom door.
You glance around nervously.
“Where do I go? Where do I go? Where do I go?” You chant, heart racing as you search around the room, contemplating if you should leave or not.
Meanwhile Kelley is still angrily singing behind the closed bathroom door.
You see you just can’t play with people’s feelings Tell them you love them and don’t mean it You’ll probably say that it was juvenile   But I think that I deserve to smile
You knew last night things had soured between the two of you, maybe Kelley realized you had feelings for her and it pushed her away?
You weren’t sure but the song she was singing made you fearful, fearful that Kelley would bust more than the proverbial window.
I must admit it helped a little bit To think of how you’d feel when you saw it I didn’t know that I had that much strength But I’m glad you see what happens when
You slap a hand over your mouth muffling the sound at your laughter when you imagine what Kelley is doing on the other side of the door.
Oh yeah, I did it (Yeah I did)   You should know it (You should know it) I ain’t sorry (I ain’t sorry) You deserved it (You deserved it)
Even though all that you did to me was much worse I had to do something to make you hurt yeah Oh, but why am I still crying? Why am I the one who's still crying?
Your eyes go wide as snap out of your trance, head jerking around in search of a place to hide.
“Yeah, I’m not hiding in the closet, did that once, wasn’t fun.” You mumble under your breath, stiffening when the song comes to an end.
I bust the windows out ya car
The bathroom’s doorknob twists and you do the most logical thing you can, that being falling face down flat in your bed and rolling up in the blankets.
The bathroom door opens and you still, hoping that Kelley doesn’t see you, but of course, she does.
Despite the situation Kelley lets out a snort, shaking her head back and forth.
“You okay in there?” She asks, poking your side and you squeak, rolling over and off of the bed, crashing to the floor with a thud.
Kelley throws her head back, barking out a laugh, something you’re happy to hear, even if it’s because you ended up on the floor, probably breaking your ass.
Your head pokes up over the side of the bed, your eyes narrowed and bottom lip jutted out, meanwhile, Kelley just grins, though you note the grin doesn’t meet her brown orbs.
Kelley shakes her head, pointing towards the bathroom.
“Shower’s free.” She says before turning away to rifle through her luggage.
You nod, moving to your feet and grabbing what you’ll need before moving into the bathroom.
The bathroom remains silent while you’re in there, no music able to fix the ache in your heart at the sight of Kelley’s usually shining brown orbs darkened with sadness.
Eventually, you’re climbing back into bed, the room completely silent as you stare up at the ceiling.
You swallow hard, your eyes fluttering shut.
“Goodnight Kel.” You whisper only after the woman’s breathing evens out, though just as you’re about to drift off, you hear a soft, warbly whisper.
“Goodnight Y/N.”
                                                           ***
To say the following morning is awkward would be an understatement, standing side by side with Kelley as the two of you silently brush your teeth is as far from the norm as the two of you could get and you hated it.
Your eyes lock with Kelley’s in the mirror and you glance away, both averting one another’s gaze.
You jump when Kelley quite literally throws her toothbrush in the sink before turning towards you with a glare.
“So, what, you can’t even look at me now?” She snarls and your eyes widen as you turn to her, your toothbrush still hanging out of your mouth.
“What?” You say as you spit into the sink and Kelley scoffs.
“You’ve been avoiding me!” She shouts and you throw your toothbrush into the sink too, shouting just as loud.
“As if you haven’t been avoiding me!” You yell back and Kelley shakes her head.
“You know what, I think I’m going to stay with Allie and Alex tonight, wouldn’t want to get in your and Christen’s way.” She growls and your eyes widen.
“What are you talking about?” You scoff and Kelley scoffs louder.
“Don’t play stupid, I know you’re into her.”
You shake your head, mouth opening and closing multiple times in search of words you can’t seem to find.
“See, I knew it.” She shakes her head, shoving passed you and storming out of the room, the hotel room’s door slamming shut seconds later.
You shake your head, mouth still gaping.
“What!?”
                                                           ***
You’re still just as confused when you settle into an empty seat on the bus, not daring to look anywhere even near Kelley, her words still searing in your brain.
And to make matters worse, the person Kelley thinks you’re into plops down right in the seat beside you, Tobin sitting in front of the two of you.
“You look like someone threw a bucket of cold water on you.” Sonnett comments as she sits across the aisle from you and Christen.
You shake your head, still unable to speak.
“One word?” Sonnett asks and Lindsey hums.
“Act it out, maybe we’ll get it.” She shrugs and Christen shakes her head, as does Tobin.
“She thinks you and I are together...” You glance at Christen and the brunette’s eyes widen, Emily and Lindsey snorting, meanwhile Tobin has her bottom lip jutted out.
“That’s...” Christen blushes and you nod.
“Crazy, I know. You and Tobin are practically married.” You shrug and the two share a glance, cheeks flushing crimson.
“WHOOMP THERE IT IS!” Emily screams, gathering the attention of everyone on the bus.
Tobin and Christen remain silent, Tobin clearing her throat.
“You know... I have an idea.” She mumbles, Sonnett, Lindsey, Christen and you all turning to her, your eyes narrowed.
“No.” You shake your head and Tobin grins, nodding.
“Yes.”
“Tobin no.” Christen shakes her head.
Emily scoffs.
“Tobin YES.”
You cover your face with your hands.
“Please, kill me now.”
                                                           ***
“How is this helping?” You grumble when you move into the huddle, Christen’s arms wrapped around you.
“Go with it.” Tobin huffs in your ear and you roll your eyes, catching Kelley’s dark brown orbs on you, anger prominent in her gaze.
The huddle breaks, and everyone makes their way onto the field, Kelley giving your shoulder a not so gentle brush.
You glare at the bench at Christen and the other youngsters before glaring at Tobin who gives you an apologetic smile.
“Last time I let you plan anything.” You say through gritted teeth, noting the spark of fury behind Kelley’s brown orbs.
“I’m so fucked.”
                                                           ***
Unfortunately for you, it’s in the 70th minute that Kelley snaps.
The black and white ball is at your feet, your eyes darting around field to find an open player, but nearly everyone is covered.
Suddenly and from out of nowhere someone slides into you, and instead of seeing the red of Canada’s jersey, you see white, a white jersey with a large #5 on the back.
“What the hell!?” You yell, throwing your hands up, Kelley turning around and advancing on you, only a few inches separating the two of you.
You vaguely note that the ref must’ve blown her whistle when a number of your teammates dart over, Alex putting a hand on Kelley’s shoulder.
“Kel, stop.” She whispers, only for the defender to shrug her off.
“No, I’m not going to wait all day for you to find the confidence to actually kick the ball.” She growls and you scoff, moving towards her, your chests now together.
Christen’s eyes are huge from her place on the bench, as are Sonnett’s.
“Oh no.” Christen mumbles when Tobin walks up, placing a hand on your shoulder, but you too shrug it off.
You hear the ref’s whistle, but completely ignore it, rolling your eyes.
“I was looking for an open player.” You snarl and Kelley laughs humorlessly.
“Well, I was open if you were actually paying attention, maybe too busy looking at the bench.” She nods towards Christen and you shake your head.
The ref blows her whistle again and you snarl.
“WOULD YOU CHOKE ON THAT THING ALREADY!” You scream and everyone freezes.
The ref almost immediately points a finger at you before retrieving a red card, holding it high in the air.
You shake your head, laughing as you flop your arm in her direction.
“Like I give a fuck.” You mumble stomping off the field towards the locker room, but not before you see the ref point at Kelley too, same red card held high.
“Serves you right.”
                                                           ***
It’s only when you’re in the locker room that you realize that someone is on your heels, that someone of course being the woman who’d aided you in getting a red card in the first place.
"What the fuck is your problem!?” You scream and Kelley shakes her head, laughing.
“As if you don’t fucking know!” She yells shoving you back and you snarl.
“I DON’T!” You yell and Kelley rolls her eyes, pushing passed you.
You follow her close behind.
“I WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOUR FUCKING PROBLEM IS.” You scream and Kelley barks out a laugh, turning around, her nose brushing yours as she spits angrily in your face.
“Maybe you should be more focused on the game than your fucking girlfriend!” She yells and you roll your eyes.
“WHAT FUCKING GIRLFRIEND!?” You yell, voice booming and Kelley shouts, just as loud.
“THE ONE YOU’VE BEEN HANGING OVER ALL DAY.” She cries and you shake your head.
“WE’RE NOT TOGETHER, THERE’S NO RELATIONSHIP.”
Kelley’s lip curls in a snarl, as does your own, and in one sudden swift movement, you’re kissing.
The two of you spring apart, eyes wide for a moment before you growl, surging back in, your lips slamming against hers.
Kelley jumps up, her legs wrapping around your middle.
You slam her against a nearby wall, the woman grunting into your mouth as she hits the wall, hard. You grunt in return when she clamps down on your bottom lip violently.
Her tongue shoves its way into your mouth, swiping against your tongue wildly, yours just as wild if not more so than against hers.
Kelley lets out a groan, hips arching when your hands slide down her back before meeting her ass, giving her toned flesh a squeeze.
Kelley sinks her teeth back into your lower lip, pulling it back with her as the two of you part.
You let out a groan that sends a shiver down the defender’s spine and she can’t get enough, jerking your hair from its confides and tangling her fingers in it before dragging you in for another kiss.
Your teeth clack together loudly as your lips hungrily meet, nothing but tongues and teeth, the locker room full of your soft sighs and groans.
Kelley lets out a sudden cry and you spring back eyes wide, only just now realizing that her hips had been moving throughout your impromptu make out session.
“P-please.” She whispers and your eyes widen before darkening as you lean in, kissing Kelley so much softer than you had been before.
“Is this what you wanted?” You whisper in her ear, slipping a hand between your bodies. You hand resting on the front of her shorts and Kelley lets out a cry when you dig the heel of your palm into her, turning to bury her face in your neck.
“Is it?” You ask again, rubbing the heel of your palm against the front of her shorts, this time harder.
“Yes.” She purrs in your ear, her lips brushing your ear lobe
You groan, ducking your head to suck and bite at her neck, leaving behind a mark you know she’ll have to cover up if she wants to avoid teasing from your teammates.
Kelley’s breath quickens with each roll of your hips, your palm dragging against the apex between her thighs.
“Oh, god.” Kelley sighs and you grin, biting her ear.
“Don’t get us caught.” You tease, bumping your nose against her temple and she smiles, laughing.
“Easy...” She starts, but her voice dies in her throat when your hand stills, fingers rubbing tight, fast circles right over the place she needs the most.
“Easy for you to say!” She squeaks and you grin.
“If you can’t keep quiet, I’ll stop right now.” You tease and Kelley’s arms slip from around your neck, cupping your cheeks and dragging you in for a tender kiss.
“Don’t you fucking dare.” She whines, her forehead resting against yours as you fingers slow, eventually stilling.
Kelley traps her bottom lip between her teeth, brow furrowed, but before she can voice her complaints, you slip your hand down the front of her shorts and over her panties, fingers teasing the front of her damp panties.
Kelley puts her hands on your shoulders, brows furrowed as she rolls her hips, attempting to find some sort of rhythm, but to no avail.
“I...” She starts and you smirk, leaning in to swipe your tongue along her pulse point, before nuzzling into the lightly sweat dampened bit of flesh.
“Come on Kel...” You whisper, pressing soft kisses all over her face, the woman smiling as she shudders.
Kelley surprises you when her dark brown orbs lock with your Y/E/C ones, her hands leaving your shoulders in favor of gently cupping your cheeks.
Your movements slow, eyes glazing over as they stare it Kelley’s shining brown orbs.
“Don’t stop.” She whispers softly and you swallow hard.
Your eyes remain locked as your fingers again shift, Kelley swallowing hard, breath hitching as you draw tight circles over her bundle of nerves.
Kelley releases a shaky breath, fighting her eye lids to keep her eyes opened, and locked with your own.
You lean in, pressing a kiss to the tip of her nose, Kelley cracking a smile as she pants into your open mouth.
You don’t know how you know, but you know she’s close, her body twitching and shaking as she rocks into your fingers with no ounce of rhythm.
You lean in back in, this time, pressing your lips against hers and that’s what pushes her over the edge, the defender letting out a cry into your mouth as her body shudders, eyes slammed shut.
The arm you have around Kelley tightens, ensuring that you’d never let her fall as she slowly comes down from her high.
You lean your forehead against the wall, just above Kelley’s shoulder as you and the defender try to catch your breaths
“Did we just...?” Kelley whispers, smiling against your neck, and you shake your head, chuckling.
“Yeah, we did.”
Kelley nuzzles into your neck.
“I think we need to talk.” She whispers and you nod.
“I think we do too.”
                                                           ***
Vlatko is far from happy with the two of you when you come back from the locker room, letting you and the defender know that under no circumstances will you or Kelley play the next game, and possibly the game after that.
You knew he had every right to be angry, but when Kelley took a seat next to you on the bench, a soft smile spread across her face, you realized it was worth it.
Silently, you offer your hand to the brunette who takes it with a grin, intertwining your fingers before turning her attention back to the field.
Further down the bench, Christen and Sonnett share a glance, the two smirking.
“Looks like they talked it out.” Christen whispers and Sonnett’s eyes narrow as she stares closer at Kelley, her hazel orbs doubling size.
Christen follows her line of sight, quickly realizing what Sonnett’s freaking out about, but if she knows Sonnett, she’s about to blurt it out for the whole world to hear.
“IS THAT A HICKIE!?” She yells, thankfully, her voice is muffled by the palm of Christen’s hand, the woman wrapping her arms around the blonde.
“Shhh!” She shushes her, and it’s then she realizes everyone is turned to the two of them, even some on the field watching them.
Sonnett licks Christen’s hand, sending the forward a triumphant grin, though she grimaces when she wipes her hand on Emily’s face.
“Ugh gross.” She mumbles and Christen rolls her eyes.
Luckily, the final whistle goes off and you move to your feet, Kelley’s hand still in yours. She moves to her feet, wincing softly and your brow furrows.
“You okay?” You whisper and Kelley’s cheeks flush.
“Yeah just...” She shrugs and your eyes narrow.
“Little sore.” She shrugs and your concern washes away, a wide, cocky smirk spreading across your face.
Kelley smacks you in the chest.
“Wipe that look of your face.” She grumbles and you shrug.
“What look?” You ask, just then Sonnett walks up to the two of you, eyes narrowed.
“Why do you look so smug?” She asks and you shrug, sending Kelley a smirk along with a stealthy wink.
“No reason.”
                                                           ***
The second you take your seat at dinner you’re swarmed by Tobin and Christen, along with a herd of rowdy children, all of them looking at you expectantly.
“Yes?” You ask nervously and Sonnett growls.
“I see the hickie on Kelley’s neck bitch.” She whispers and your eyes widen, cheeks blood red.
At the other end of the table it’s much of the same, Allie turning Kelley’s head to look at the hickie left behind from your locker room tryst.
“Well, gosh, how’d that get there?” Alex teases, poking her cheek and Kelley swats at her hand.
“Seriously, what the hell happened?” Christen nudges you and you clear your throat, downing your entire glass of water in one swift movement.
“Just, some things...” You shrug and Tobin rolls her eyes.
“Was a lot more than something...” She teases and you sigh.
“I thought we were about to kick each other's asses, but we ended up kissing.” You whisper and Sonnett squeals, clapping giddily, as do the other children.
“Oh my god you kissed!” Allie claps her hands, drawing the attention of Ali and Ashlyn the two roll their eyes.
“Bout time.” Ashlyn mumbles and Ali nods.
“Just took them a while...” Ashlyn mumbles, her cheeks dusted pink when Ali turns her head, kissing her cheek.
“Sounds like two people I know.” She teases and Ashlyn’s blush darkens.
“Wait, you don’t get a hickie from just kissing... Please tell me you didn’t bone in the locker room.” Sonnett’s eyes widen and you gasp, as if offended, your cheeks blood red.
“No! We didn’t!” You swat at her, but a narrowed eyed leer from Tobin and Christen tells you they know you’re full of shit.
You grab your menu, staring at its contents, your cheeks as red as the wine you’re thinking about ordering.
“I’ll need something stronger to get through this dinner.” You mumble under your breath, though when you feel eyes on you, you glance up.
You quickly find a pair of dark brown orbs on you and you smile softly, your heart skipping a beat as your eyes lock.
Your respective groups watch the two of you, every one of them grinning.
“They love each other, don’t they?” Emily whispers to Christen who nods beaming.
“Yeah, they do.”
                                                           ***
You and Kelley are quick to say your goodbyes when you get back to the hotel, the two of you quick to make your way into the elevator, but it’s then everything sets in and the eagerness you’d displayed moments before ebbs away, replaced by fear.
You glance at Kelley out of the corner of her eye, catching her brown orbs already on you.
You turn away, chuckling.
“We’re idiots.” You mumble and Kelley snorts.
“Yeah, you could say that again.” She whispers and you turn to her with a smile.
“I was never with Christen.” You whisper and Kelley’s eyes widen, her mouth opening and closing a few times before simply snapping shut.
“Her and Tobin are practically married, and besides...” You glance away before turning to face her. You take a step towards her, Kelley backing up against the elevator wall as you cup her cheeks.
“I’m in love with someone else.” You whisper and Kelley’s cheeks flush, biting her bottom lip.
“Who might that be...?” She asks playfully and you snicker.
“Sonnett.” You snort and Kelley playfully shoves you backwards rolling her eyes.
“Asshole.” She shakes her head and you laugh, wrapping your arms around her and pulling her back against your chest.
You turn, nuzzling into the side of her head and Kelley sighs, leaning back against you.
The elevator finally dings, the doors sliding open and you smile, Kelley squealing as you throw her over your shoulder and carry her to your hotel room’s door.
Kelley eventually wiggles out of your hold and punches you in the chest.
“Dick.” She growls as you open your hotel room door with a snort.
You step aside, nodding into the hotel room.
“We still need to talk.” You whisper and Kelley nods, swallowing hard.
“I know.” She whispers softly and you catch her hand, giving it a squeeze of reassurance.
“It’s okay.” You nod and Kelley gives you a soft smile.
“Okay.”
You follow her into the room, nudging the door shut behind you as you follow Kelley to the bed, taking a seat beside her.
You turn to her, giving her a small smile, one she immediately returns.
“Okay, let’s get this over with...” She mumbles and you chuckle.
“Let’s.”
                                                           ***
“Sounds like they talked...” Alex rolls her eyes at the sounds coming from the other side of the wall between your joined rooms.
Allie shakes her head with a smile.
“We’re never going to get any sleep are we?” She asks and Alex shakes her head.
“Nope.”
                                                         ***
Water cascades down on you as you spin around, nodding your head as you sing into the bar of soap in your hand.
I like you girl, but you don’t seem excited   Since she walked in, where has your mind been? You’re talking to me, but thinking of her Your secret is safe, I won’t say a word
You let out a laugh when the other woman beneath the shower head swipes the bar of soap, throwing it in the air and catching it with ease.
We should slow down, I was moving too quick You don’t say you love me, you just bite your lip I can read the signals from a mile away. I know she is on your mind and that’s okay
Kelley holds the soap out to you and instead of taking it you wrap your hand around hers and the two of you grin as you both sing into the bar of soap together.
I think she likes girls Every time she flaunts You wanna get real and tell me   What you want I think she likes girls I think she likes girls
I think she likes girls I can’t make her stop She wants to kiss her lips but she’s scared to get caught I think she likes girls I think she likes girls She likes, girls, girls, girls She likes, girls, girls, girls She likes, girls, girls, girls I think she likes girls
Kelley giggles when you tilt your head back and press a kiss to her forehead before bumping your nose playfully against hers.
If you’re craving her body you shouldn’t hide it You told her the truth the flame was ignited Lost in the night you’re touching her skin Leaving the club, the kissing begins
We should slow down, I was moving too quick You don’t say you love me, you just bite your lip I can read the signals from a mile away I know she is on your mind and that’s okay
You turn Kelley around, pressing your front too her back as you sing the lyrics into her ear, the two of you laughing as you playfully sway back and forth.
I think she likes girls Every time she flaunts You wanna get real and tell me   What you want I think she likes girls I think she likes girls
I think she likes girls I can’t make her stop She wants to kiss her lips but she’s scared to get caught I think she likes girls I think she likes girls
She likes, girls, girls, girls She likes, girls, girls, girls She likes, girls, girls, girls I think she likes girls
Kelley turns around, cupping your cheek with one hand, still holding the bar of soap in the other as the two of you lean forwards, your foreheads resting against one another.
She’s feeling lonely, feeling in She met her on the dancefloor She knew she had to have more
She’s feeling faded, it’s not pretend She met her on the dancefloor She knew she had to have more
She’s feeling lonely, feeling in She met her on the dancefloor She knew she had to have more
She’s feeling faded, it’s not pretend She met her on the dancefloor She knew she had to have more
Kelley grins, tilting her head back to press a kiss to your lips, a kiss you eagerly return, the kiss soft, softer than your first kiss, fueled by nothing but love.
The song again starts back up and you and Kelley start to dance again, your noses brushing as you sing against one another’s lips.
I think she likes girls Every time she flaunts You wanna get real and tell me   What you want I think she likes girls I think she likes girls
I think she likes girls I can’t make her stop She wants to kiss her lips but she’s scared to get caught I think she likes girls I think she likes girls
The song ends, the two of you grinning as you playfully bump you noses together, laughing softly as you press your lips to hers.
It doesn’t matter that the water has gone cold, it doesn’t matter that the two of you nearly killed each other on the field today, all that matters is Kelley is in your arms, her bare chest against your own as you bury your nose in her hair.
“I love you.” You whisper softly, Kelley’s heart ceasing to beat as she pulls back to look into your Y/E/C orbs.
Kelley’s bottom lip trembles as she cups your cheek, pulling you down into a passionate kiss that knocks the air out of your lungs.
The two of you part, neither going far as you lean your foreheads together, eyes shining with nothing but pure adoration.
“I love you too.” Kelley whispers and you grin, leaning in for another kiss.
You jump when a song starts playing through your phone’s speakers, a beaming smile spreading across your face.
“This concert isn’t over O’Hara.” You tease and she laughs.
“I’m just fine with that.”
It goes without saying that you and Kelley sing well into the night, keeping Alex and Allie awake with your singing, but neither care, happy to know that you finally accepted your feelings for one another, all because of a number of bathroom ballads.

Nerdist - Breaking Down the First DUNE Trailer Shot by Shot
by Amy Ratcliffe
Starting with the Pink Floyd song. The lyrics for “Eclipse” are rather fitting for Dune. But moreover, Alejandro Jodorowsky wanted Pink Floyd to do the music for the adaptation he never finished.
Tumblr media
“There’s something happening to me.” Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) stands in a bright light, dust swirling around him. The dust is likely spice, the addictive substance Arrakis is known for producing. He’s in the middle of a spice cloud on Arrakis—at least he is in his dream.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“There’s something awakening in my mind. I can’t control it.” He sees Chani (Zendaya) on Arrakis, illuminated by the sun. Then he sees himself with Chani; they’re both wearing stillsuits. They kiss. This is still part of his dream. A prescient dream, as it turns out.
Tumblr media
Paul awakens from the dream in his bed on Caladan, his home planet. Notice that the headboard features fish in motion. It’s a symbol. Caladan is a planet full of water. It’s lush… unlike where he’s about to go.
Tumblr media
“There’s a crusade coming.” The young Atreides sees a future of fire and smoke. He stands with what looks like the Lady Jessica (though it could be Chani) at a siege. Someone is attacking Arrakis. Is this part of a dream or is it really happening? Paul can see the future in his dreams, so it’s likely this attack is an event to come. Something that will lead to that dangerous path mentioned above.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we’re back on Caladan. Before the Atreides depart their home, the Bene Gesserit Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam (Charlotte Rampling) questions Paul. She asks the Atreides son about his dreams. She then administers the gom jabbar test to see if Paul is actually human.

After some dramatic shots of storm clouds above Caladan, we get a solid look at personal shields, a.k.a. Holtzman shields, and how combat with the shield works. It’s a personal protective energy field the wearer can easily activate. Here, Paul trains with Gurney Halleck (Josh Brolin); they both have their shields activated. When the shield flashes red, it indicates a hit. Though brief, this scene illustrates that the Atreides heir is swift on his feet and capable in a fight. He’s been relentlessly trained by Gurney, a warrior poet, and other teachers to handle himself.

And behold, our first glimpse (in this trailer) of Paul’s father, Duke Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac). He’s a powerful figure in the Dune world, and as Leto says goodbye to Caladan, he knows Arrakis will bring change and challenge. Paul points out to the Reverend Mother that his father rules an entire planet. The Reverend Mother notes that Leto is losing it. And that the Duke will lose Arrakis too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We see the exterior of Castle Caladan, and servants and assistants packing up the interior. All of this—the color palette, the size, the number of possessions—sets up Caladan as a very different place than Arrakis. The Atreides are going from a place of comfort, of home to somewhere entirely unknown and unwelcoming.
Tumblr media
As we see the last of Caladan, we cut to Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), a Bene Gesserit, Duke Leto’s concubine, and Paul’s mother. She looks on edge to say the least. For one thing, she’s leaving her home. She has no illusions about what Arrakis will really be like. Jessica is suspicious that House Harkonnen is letting go of the spice rich planet and letting House Atreides come in without consequence. She should be on guard. And as a Bene Gesserit, Jessica is unnerved by the Reverend Mother’s presence and that the elder put Paul through the Gom Jabbar. Lady Jessica’s decisions are at the core of a lot of Dune‘s major events, and though she can’t grasp that know, she certainly knows something is in the air.

Next, the arrival on Arrakis. From the first moment, the blinding light is opposite of the cooler hues on Caladan. Duke Leto Atreides appears in full armor and looks over his shoulder to give Paul a look of concern. Jessica and other women of the household appear to be in a formal dress of some kind. The vastness of Arrakis awaits them. Guild transport ships and troops stand on the sand.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As Paul and Gurney walk into the desert, a very eager Duncan Idaho (Jason Momoa) greets him. Duncan is another of Paul’s teachers; he’s an expert fighter. He went to Arrakis ahead of the Atreides to attempt forging an alliance with the Fremen. In this moment, we also get a glimpse of Thufir Hawat (Stephen McKinley Henderson). A mentat and master of assassins, Thufir works for House Atreides. He’s been training Paul in the arts of war and strategy. Paul and Gurney are in Atreides dress uniforms, while Duncan is wearing a Fremen stillsuit.
Tumblr media
And speaking of the Fremen, this is Stilgar (Javier Bardem), a respected Fremen leader. The Fremen, of course, being the inhabitants of Arrakis’ desert. We get a good look at his blue-within-blue eyes—the Eyes of Ibad—which is caused by the consumption of spice. All Fremen eyes look like this.
Tumblr media
“Arrakis is a death trap.” As if to emphasize this warning about Arrakis, we see a huge number of Sardaukar, the Padishah Emperor’s elite military force. That these soldiers are on Arrakis is very bad news. And they are present in huge numbers.
Tumblr media
With the introduction of the threat of the Sardaukar, it’s time to meet the primary opposition to House Atreides: House Harkonnen. We first see Glossu Rabban Harkonnen (Dave Bautista), a.k.a. the Beast. He’s Baron Vladimir Harkonnen’s oldest nephew and quite sadistic and terrifying.
Tumblr media
Speaking of sadistic and terrifying, this is brief look at Stellan Skarsgård as Baron Harkonnen. The leader of House Harkonnen is no foolish enemy. He’s cunning, manipulative, and excellent at staying one step ahead of his enemy. It’s hard to tell what he’s doing here, but I’m going to go ahead and say it’s evil.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As palm trees burn outside the Arrakeen keep the Atreides now call home, a distressed Lady Jessica appears. Arrakis only means trouble for the Atreides family. Paul notes, “This is an extermination.”
Tumblr media
This is our first look at Dr. Wellington Yueh (Chen Chang). The Suk doctor serves as Duke Leto’s personal physician. The black diamond tattoo visible on his forehead denotes Imperial Conditioning, which conditions doctors against taking human life. It basically means nobles can trust any doctor with this tattoo not to assassinate them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then Sardaukar drop in. We hear Paul say, “They’re picking my family off one by one.” The young Atreides appears by his father, both in Fremen stillsuits. In the book, they wear stillsuits to go out into the desert to observe spice harvesting so that may be what we’re seeing here (or about to see).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Let’s fight like demons.” Remember how I mentioned Duncan Idaho being an excellent fighter? Well, he’d better be, because he’s facing a lot of Sardaukar. You can see more shield hits as he launches into action.
Tumblr media
In the middle of this growing tension, we flash back to the Reverend Mother giving Paul the gom jabbar test. She explains an animal caught in a trap will gnaw off its own leg to escape. The Bene Gesserit elder wonders what Paul will do. Is she trying to say the Atreides are going to be caught in a trap on Arrakis? And that Paul will have to take action? Hmm…
Tumblr media
As the footage shifts back to Arrakis, we see Paul’s first in person meeting with Chani. He’s seen the Fremen women in dreams before, so he’s not startled to recognize her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next few sequences illustrate the amount of trouble the Atreides face. Some of it, anyway. Drop ships arriving during what looks like a siege. An ornithopter is in the air. What seems to be a group of Atreides troops take a hit with Gurney Halleck looking blinded and surprised by an explosion.
Tumblr media
Baron Harkonnen, bald like his nephew Rabban, rises from oily water. Baldness is apparently a Harkonnen thing in this Dune adaptation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then Duncan Idaho and Paul salute each other, and it looks like Paul has a crysknife. This is likely before an important duel (if you’ve read the book you know the one, and if you haven’t, I won’t spoil it).
Tumblr media
One of Arrakis’ many perils is the sandworm. The creatures that reside in the desert make traveling on foot and harvesting spice a challenge. Case in point, a sandworm devours a spice harvester whole while Paul and Gurney look on in this scene.
Tumblr media
Dr. Yueh from earlier walks alongside Harkonnen troops. That sure seems suspicious.
Tumblr media
And then next we get a look at Dr. Liet Kynes (Sharon Duncan-Brewster). Dr. Kynes is the planet’s Imperial ecologist and also a Fremen leader. The character is gender-swapped here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The pace picks up, signaling the increasing threats the Atreides face. We see Rabban leading Harkonnen troops. The camera pauses on the Beast’s stomach, likely because of the whip he’s wearing. It’s an inkvine whip. In the Dune book lore, the Beast used that whip in a fight with Gurney Halleck and left a scar on the warrior’s cheek.
Tumblr media
A bloody hand falling from Duke Leto’s shoulder (likely belonging to the Shadout Mapes, the head housekeeper of the Atreides’ new abode).
Tumblr media
Paul, apparently settling right into Fremen life, engages in a duel. He pulls a crysknife on one of the Fremen.
Tumblr media
Then Jessica and Paul pilot ornithopter in what looks like a rushed manner. They’re running from something or someone. I mean, there’s plenty to run from on Arrakis so…
Tumblr media
Arrakis is such a treasured planet because of the spice that comes from the desert. Here, Paul picks up a handful of sand containing the highly valued substance.
Tumblr media
We hear Paul say “Fear is the mind-killer” as Duncan Idaho kneels in front of Paul and says, “My lord Duke.” The words Paul recites are from the Bene Gessert Litany Against Fear, maybe the most quoted passage from Dune.
Tumblr media
And as the trailer ends, we get a clearer look at a sandworm. It looms above Paul and Jessica, mouth agape and ready to devour whatever and whoever is in its way. You can see how its mass displaces the desert sand around it. If the fact that a sandworm ate a whole harvesting vehicle wasn’t enough to unnerve you, this certainly should do the trick.
