In Sickness
All the men in all the houses
Have very pretty wives
But if that woman got a little sick--
The men would flee for their lives.

Everywhere
Are you friends with poetry?
Do you take it where you go?
Do you see it in the trees
As they rock and then they bow?
Do you see it in the highway?
Does it follow like a chick?
Does it live in every rooftop,
Every stone, and every brick?
If you cannot see it you must
Try with much more might--
All the greatest gifts in life
Need a little fight.

Healing
Never alone, I'm
Sitting in a
Patch of sunlight.
It's warm here.
I grow.

Suffering
I love a friend to suffer with,
A friend who also complains.
We talk about the things we hate--
And live like hurricanes.
We sit there in the field,
Picking flowers one-a-time.
I love a friend to suffer with.
Let's sit until we die.

Will I ever stop being
Seven years old?
That's all I am.
That's all I am.
I never grow up.

Human Connection
Say hi to the banker
Say hi to the dogs
Wave hi to your neighbor
And kids watching frogs
Of course greet the cashier,
The nurse, the doctor
The chef, the barista
The librarian
The product stockers
Thank every janitor
The server, the maid,
The mailman, the hostess,
The artist, the aide,
The writer, the singer,
The plumber, the coach,
Mechanics, and mothers
And fathers, and folks.
All people need greetings,
And "hello" and "please."
Nothing matters more than
The community.

Choices
I much prefer coffee to tea
As tea just never likes me.
I try to be polite like tea
But coffee comes to find me.
I want to be pretty and clean and good
And all the things so nice and stable-
But no matter how hard I try and try,
I leave coffee stains on the coffee table!

What If
I've got a million questions.
Well, none of them matter.
I'll sit with them for a while
Until the tears begin to splatter.
I love all of my questions,
So I keep them close to my chest.
The universe won't answer them-
I guess I'll just have to guess!

The Song
Commit me to your memory
Like the lyrics you sing in your car
Going down the highway
Don't know where or how far,
But we're driving and driving and driving
Windows down, blasting the song
Commit me to your memory
And maybe I'll, too, sing along

Hiking
The sun sparkles on the leaves.
The wind floats with a song.
I walk until my feet are sore,
And then I still carry along.

Next Gen Misogyny
It's clear that they don't know.
It's clear that they don't know!
They cannot run to the finish line
Without a man telling them to go!
A bunch of boys will bob their heads
And hate the eggs and hate the hen.
Keep a close eye on your sons!
Keep your kids away from those men!

Endings
I burned all my bridges
For the sake of the burn--
And while I sat at the ash,
The world still turned.

3 small poems
as if in pain  the wind cries  throughout the long night
---  if ghosts existed  my parents would be haunting me dark and cruel as they were  they would never stop  trying to control me
---  the sea  the land  and the sky  would all join hands  to protect the earth  but how can they  when we humans  are killing all three

i would never ask of you the world
rather, I would take just
a touch. a wandering
glance. a shy smile. i
am picky, love, but when
it comes to you, it it
all my favorite.
