Looking at “Rising Malevolence” and “Mercy Mission” together, you can see how much Wolffe and Sinker evolve over the course of four seasons. What’s fascinating to me is that their character arcs move in opposite directions.

"Rising Malevolence" brings them face-to-face with death for the first time; they couldn’t be in a worse situation. Of the four survivors, Wolffe is the most vulnerable and the least useful. Nevertheless, he stands fast. His strong spirit enables him to put forth his best conduct: he’s steady, trusting, even good-humored. Sinker is not. His spirit has been depressed for a long time already, so he can’t help succumbing to negativity in the heat of the moment.

The massacre roots a new fear in both of them: fear of loss. It’s their responsibility to keep their men alive, and yet they both failed. What’s to stop it from happening again? They have no control over who survives and who doesn’t, when and where and how their troopers will die, whether it’ll be a few casualties or an entire battalion.

Amidst this fear, both of them are confronted by Plo Koon. A general who vows to share that responsibility with them. Who, through actions and not just words, commits to the kind of leadership that not only values their men’s survival but also their wellbeing.

This is the crossroads where their arcs diverge.

Sinker, against all his instincts, vices, and traumas, decides to trust General Plo. It doesn’t come easily, or all at once, but, as the Jedi continues to make good on his promise, he learns to ease up. Gradually, his spirit heals and grows stronger. By “Mercy Mission,” he’s noticeably more lighthearted, invested, and confident: a man transformed for the better.

Wolffe, however, can’t let go of his fear. It’s proportionally greater than Sinker’s; he has lost, and stands to lose, much more. He does trust General Plo, deeply, but he also harbors the disturbing knowledge that the Jedi isn’t invincible. For all his power, General Plo can still die—and that can’t happen. The 104th would go adrift without him, so he must be protected at all costs. Wolffe takes up this extra burden in secret. He becomes vigilant, overprotective, strained, insular. He won't acknowledge it, but his spirit is staggering under the weight. “Mercy Mission” shows us a glimpse of this transformation: a man who’s bone-weary and so preoccupied with the status of his absent comrades that he has no patience or sympathy for the Aleena.

Maybe it was never in the cards for him, to be healthy and flourishing and secure. Maybe his path would've always led down a darker road than Sinker's despite experiencing the same profound kindness. It's such a shame, for if any clone needed a little hope, it's him. I'm halfway through his story now, the beginning of the end, and he's about to enter the darkest valley of his life.

Do you think Plo Koon's mask also has a translator inside it which makes his language understandable in basic?

Because being rather reptilian/insectoid in appearance, I assume that their main method of communication is probably screeching and clicks, rumbles and vibrations.

Also because:

Plo: ... and once Wolffe, Sinker and I give the signal, we will... *mask crackles, unintelligible screeching noises*

*Plo stops talking, adjusts his mask and tries again*

Shocked but excited to have found his imprint (especially after seeing Sam and Emily), was not expecting it to be the town mean girl but when you two are together, your total sweetheart which throws off the guys except Paul (he's the same way)

Quil

Happy that's it someone he knows, even if you two haven't talked in a few years (he always knew you two were meant to be). The pack was happy when he finally quit his moping about how much he missed you and considered himself lucky to ask you out

Jared

Thrown off when it wasn't the one girl who showed an interest in him since freshman year but once he got to know you, he knew the fates never messed up and you two were meant to be together

Paul

Never wanted an imprint but when he heard you defending him and the pack, he knew you two were meant to be, kind of like the next generations Emily and Sam (Quil and Colin like to joke around and tell him when you're not around)

Jacob

Dude was downright flabbergasted when he imprinted a year after shifting and it wasn't on his favorite (person and human), Bella. Once he got to know you, he was happy he didn't end up with her (she comes with too much drama while you two are drama free)

Seth

Never admitted out loud but after watching Emily and Sam plus Jake and Renesme together, it really made him want to find his imprint and then he found you and he was so happy, everyone jokes and says he acted like an excited puppy

Leah

Never wanted an imprint especially after the whole thing with her cousin and ex but after almost dying because she denied the imprint and worked on getting to know you, she found herself wondering how she could ever be without you

Sam

Wasn't expecting to meet you so soon after he shifted and was introduced to the supernatural world (and came to believe in the legends he was told for so long), but thinks meeting you was a secret blessing because you can calm him

Brady

Didn't know what to expect after hearing brief details about imprints, but boy was he floored when he met you and then you asked him out, he nearly passed out on the spot (the pack doesn't let him forget about it)

Collin

Knew he was going to meet his imprint at some point but was not expecting it to happen while he was out getting groceries to replace what he and the pack had devoured from Emily's and then you wind up going to his alpha's place too, boy nearly lost his mind

❥ A kiss that he reciprocated after a moment's hesitation.

❥ You confessed your feelings afterwards and Seth did the same.

❥ A long distance relationship wouldn't be easy.

❥ You promised to call him everyday and send emails in-between.

❥ And he promised to wait for you as long as it was needed.

❥ At first the communication between the two of you was daily.

❥ But after several months Seth's responses became less and less frequent.

❥ You didn't understand what caused this change in behaviour.

❥ Phone calls became non existent.

❥ And emails would be replied once a week at most.

❥ You patiently went along with it hoping that everything would go back as normal when you returned to Forks.

❥ After 4 years of studying abroad you finally graduated and made the long journey back home.

❥ The first thing you did after arriving in Forks was to go at Seth's house to surprise him.

❥ You had planned this little surprise beforehand by telling your parents to keep your return a secret.

❥ You even wore the jacket Seth gave you before leaving, thinking it would be nice to show him how much his present meant to you.

❥ Sue Clearwater greeted you warmly and explained that Seth and Leah were at the beach with friends.

I found the canon that Wolffe was from Clone Captain to Commander.

It's kind of interesting that he was stationed in Kamino in early days of Clone wars as Captain. And casually mentored troubled troopers.

And according to Wookieepedia Wolfpack was there on early weeks of the Clone war, and Plo was one of the Jedi who worked with them first. And Plo said that his squad already showed some individuality.

It's kind of heartwarming and also kind of hilarious of thinking about those times... like...

Wolffe: I'm honored to meet you sir. We Wolfpack is ready for anything!

Plo: I'm honored to meet you as well, Captain...

Wolffe: Oh, excuse me sir. I'm CC 3636. But if you don't mind, you can call me Wolffe.

Boost: Yes, he really loves Wolf.

Sinker: I bet he studied about Wolf more than battle tactics!

Wolffe: Hey, silence! You are in front of your General!

Wolffe: I'm sorry for these excuses, sir. My troopers may be chaoi- I mean playful than most of other Clones average, but they are close knitted and royal, skilled soldiers.

Plo: Perfect.

Wolffe: What?

And I love imagining them being close from early days of war and till end. Through their best and worst moments.

Like happy days as original Wolfpack, and fall of first 104th battalion, and reforming battalion, and rise to one of the best rescue team in GAR.

No doubt that Wolffe really cared and remembered his royal brothers even when he became old and paranoid.

Kel Dor thought of the day: eldritch Kel Dors AU

What if Kel Dors were genuinely eldritch beings: a full package of "gaze upon me and your mind will break", many claws and writhing tentacles, and semi-existence on another plane of reality.

Most are quite content to exist on their home world but the consciousness which has named itself Plo Koon really wants to be a Jedi. The multitude of creatures that populate the galaxy are surely brilliant and wonderful, and he wants to meet them in person.

So Plo does just that.

Once he can shift into a relatively palatable, human-esque appearance and sort-of anchor himself onto the realms of reality instead of slip-sliding around in the seams of the Force, he joins the Order. Yeah, he's the creepiest kid in the creche, but Tyvokka is a great master and a staunch realist, and who's to say that a baby eldritch can't make a great padawan? And later, a council member?

It's hard to maintain four limbs and such a compact body and even harder to fight in it, but he gets used to it. The grotesque face keeps people from squinting too hard at him and his telepathic projections convince people of the rest.

The Wolfpack is suspicious, though. They have great observation and sharp minds—a combination that makes it hard to play mind tricks on them. Wolffe, being the one closest to Plo, sees him slip up more than most. When battles wear on him, and the blurring at the edges of his form is a little too much for his loose robes try to hide, and the presence that fills the room is a little more than just a Jedi's connection to the Force, Plo is grateful when Wolffe ignores it and just... stays.

When impossible things happen on the battlefield, clones swearing that there are things striking down enemies between blinks and dragging them into the shadows, Plo braces himself for fear and panic but his men swear that it doesn't feel like it's there to harm them. No, in fact, it feels protective.

Then the Malevolence happens. Plo loses it for a moment in that escape pod, his very being clutching at the three precious sparks trapped there with him, and all the clones startle at the feeling of too many tentacles wrapping tight around them, the stars almost blotting out.

Plo is aghast and even more tightly controlled after that.

But it's not long before Wolffe, Boost and Sinker find him where he's hidden himself away in the corner of the ship and they just... hug him. And if he hugs back with a few too many limbs and shadows and tells them to close their eyes...

Well Plo would cry if he could, feeling them hug back tighter.

Finally! I get to share my headcanons about this loveable piece-of-work, my boy Sinker.

Like Boost, he didn't choose his name; their batchmates came up with it because of his pessimism, a quirk that stress exacerbated (more on that below).

He was a reluctant “older” brother—not naturally responsible or nurturing but arbitrarily chosen to be in charge of his batchmates by their superiors. Although it felt unfair at the time, it’s the reason he’s a sergeant at the start of the war.

One of their trainers didn't get on with him (personality clash) and took every opportunity to beat him down. He put on a front of insolent indifference, but the harsh words (on top of Kaminoan indoctrination) eroded his spirit, leading him to develop that famously bleak estimation of himself and all clones.

For an engineered soldier, stress had an unusually adverse effect on him. It didn’t just sway his mood; by young adulthood, his hair started to thin and show gray roots. He couldn't stomach shaving it off, nor admit his shame by dyeing it black, so his solution was to dye it entirely gray and pretend to own it.

Needless to say, he isn’t in the healthiest frame of mind as we meet him in “Rising Malevolence.” He has a callousness about him that strikes me as a defense mechanism. Sadly, he doesn't take General Plo's words to heart that day. In fact, he isn't sure what to make of the General for some time.

If he had met Wolffe under any other circumstances, they wouldn't have become friends; they're too different, and Sinker is nothing if not realistic. Suffering the massacre together, and later rebuilding the 104th, bonds them like nothing else could. Even though rank and duties often keep them apart now, they hold fast to that bond.

He tries to move past the loss of his old squad by falling back on cadethood excuses ("I didn't want this job!") and cold memorized truths ("that's the reality of war"), but the horror and guilt get to him on occasion. For a while, he's at turns distant and aggressively protective toward his new squad.

He takes an immediate disliking to Comet, regarding him as a liability at best and a threat to the squad's safety at worst. Truthfully, he sees a bit of himself in the rookie (that defensive apathy), and he hates it. The tension between them erupts one day into physical violence, which he immaturely instigates. The brawl puts a bad mark on his record (and is my explanation for why he doesn't seem to climb any higher in rank). However, by coming to blows, the two of them are able to confront their issues with each other. Gradually, they work toward a more amiable relationship.

His personal beliefs and his mixed feelings about General Plo come to a head during a dangerous search-and-rescue operation. When half his squad (including Boost) become trapped in a damaged building, he fully expects he'll have to leave them to prioritize civilians, a prospect he suddenly finds chilling. To his shock, Wolffe and the General converge at once, the former taking over evacuations while the latter goes after the troopers. In the end, not a single one is lost.

Because of this harrowing event, he realizes first how much he cares about his men, what their lives are worth to him (not expendable!), and second that he's not alone in feeling that way—General Plo meant what he said. He still has some qualms about the General (e.g. the health considerations are a source of stress), but his love language is acts of service, and the General's tremendous act of saving his squad wins him over.

From this point onward, he's able to shoulder his responsibilities with less fear, and that confidence does wonders for him. He really evolves as a character—just look at how different he is in "Mercy Mission"! (I've got a separate post about this in the works: contrasting his arc with Wolffe's.) He doesn't lose all of his rough edges, of course (he can still get nasty when stressed, and be rather angsty at times), but overall he rounds out to be a tough, conscientious, steadfast individual.

His sense of humor, however, does not improve.

what was shin's life like before she met baylan? (did she know she was force-sensitive? did she ever have family or a community?)

how did shin and baylan meet? what drew him to her (or her to him)?

what made baylan decide to train shin? (was he looking for an apprentice? or did he just stumble across her, realise she was force-sensitive and — what? decide she could be useful? want to protect her from inquistors?) what made shin agree to be trained?

how old was shin when they met (and as a result, how long has baylan been training shin)?

how did their relationship develop? when we see them in ahsoka there was an unexpected warmth between them: mutual trust, a hint of playfulness. but there is also a significant distance: baylan gives the orders and shin follows, shin asks questions but rarely receives answers. baylan is visibly furious and protective when ahsoka throws shin into that rock in 1x04, yet a few short episodes later he sends shin away and leaves her to fend for herself. did they use to be closer? or is this as close as they've ever been?

Like she would definitely create one for the 501st and would post videos about them. Like ‘Day in the life on Board the Tribunal’, ‘Meet the Troopers’, ‘Meet the bridge techs’, ‘Meet the pilots’, ‘The best pranks pulled by the 501st’, ‘How to deal with your Jedi CO (jokingly)’

And she would definitely give a bunch of the veterans (Like Jesse, Hardcase, Fives, Kix, anybody that wanted it) access to it so they could post their own videos.

As soon as the 501st starts up their account and starts gaining popularity, other padawans commanders start accounts for their battalions.

Of course all the people go crazy over it because not only are these videos funny, it gives them an inside look into what is happening in the war. For most people in the Republic the war isn’t affecting them, the clones are the ones fighting it not them. But now they are constantly getting videos made by the clone troopers and people are suddenly realizing that the clones are in fact people too.

This also gives everyday people a better look at the Jedi who up until now weren’t really in the spotlight. They start to see that the Jedi aren’t as aloof and uncaring as they were led to believe. One of the 501st troopers posted a video explaining how their Jedi commander sits with troopers after campaigns to comfort them and help them sleep. Troopers in the 212th posted a video showing their Jedi general carrying two injured troopers off the battle field. The 104th posts a video about their general teaching them how to meditate to help keep them calm after campaigns.

It also threw hard facts in peoples faces. One of the clone troopers might have been showing up in a lot of videos and was becoming a fan favorite, then one day he disappeared. The followers asked where he was and the battalion had to inform them that he had died on the last campaign and to please be respectful about it. These everyday people realized that these people, clones and Jedi, were in fact actively fighting in a war and they didn’t all come back.

Who knows, maybe they would elect different senators that were in favor of stopping the war. Maybe they would push to help support the troopers and Jedi that were injured. Maybe they’d ask why the war was being fought in the first place.

So some of my favorite headcanons is that Leah is Renesmee's favorite person/wolf and Jacob adores that because it's like a single dad finding a partner who loves his kid. I strictly headcanon the removal of all that grooming shit in werewolves so Jacob and Quill are simply older brothers/guardians/free babysitters lol of Renesmee and Claire. I actually ship Nessie and Claire (I imagine their grown up forms as villainelle and eve.. I know the appearances don't match, but oh well let me have this).

Anyway, so Leah is Nessie's favorite because she isn't too careful about everything. She'll literally be in her wolf form and pick up Nessie by the scruff of her neck like a cat mom. Additionally, Nessie is also used as a sort of means to patch up things between Emily and Leah since Emily makes the most delicious blood noodle soup and Leah uses that as an excuse to go and meet her (also the apple pies Emily makes only and only for Leah despite Sam's literal puppy dog eyes). She gets Kim to bring her some B+ blood packets (yup sweet Kim is a secret supplier of nasty things in the tribe hehe.. Jared just goes along with it because she's the love of his life) everytime Nessie is over for a play date with Claire and her and Leah will chill on the sofa and bask in each other's presence while their niece tries to steal a bite of the blood soup and Nessie looks at her in secret hoping she likes it. She pouts as Claire gags, and Emily and Leah cackle like mad witches because they're horrible aunts truly 🤣
