So originally I was gonna do 3, but this one got REALLY long, sooo....

May I present the Jedi Get Hitched AU?

I posted about it once before here (and it got FANART!!!!) but other than that I haven't said much of anything else, soooo... here's more! and it's ENORMOUSLY self-indulgent.

The basic premise of the AU is that the clone wars end happily except the clones don't have rights but the Jedi find a loophole that will make them recognized as sentient citizens if one of them marries a Jedi, cue Aayla kicking open the door to the jedi council with bly in tow like I VOLUNTEER

ANYWAY. bly and aayla get married (they both freak out about it and Fox and Quinlan respectively have to give them pep talks before the wedding.) All seems well... and then Anakin saunters into the Jedi Council room one day and brings up that now that they're getting married (it was a one time thing, skywalker--) NOW THAT THEY'RE GETTING MARRIED, maybe they should consider that perhaps it would lower political tensions if a Jedi married, like, a senator or a planetary ruler or something. and the council is all like 🙄 skywalker we know this is just about you and senator amidala and he's like what??? haha no, i was talking about obi-wan and duchess satine. but while we're on the topic, i could definitely marry senator amidala too. she just adopted those twins and i could help raise them. they're force-sensitive, what a crazy coincidence amiright?? and plo and shaak are just lowkey planning their wedding and subsequent adoption of All Their Sons and mace. mace wants a break. please.

fast forward in time. Several more jedi have gotten married. Mace has retired from the council, citing "an excess of tomfoolery and nuptials" as his reason. Anakin married Padme, Obi-Wan married Satine and they officially adopted Korkie as their son, and Quinlan Vos and Asajj Ventress got married. Vostress is also currently running a jedi-nightsister exchange student program...

...which is how Merrin, 16 and slightly awkward but eager to learn more, ends up in the Jedi Temple, with a few other Nightsisters, though they're all a few years younger than her. Cal is assigned to give them the tour.

"Welcome to the Jedi Temple!" he says, holding one hand out to her and the other hand waving around them, indicating basically the whole jedi temple. it's supposed to be just a gesture, but then Merrin puts her hand in his. Completely seriously. Cal is like "...okay" and they hold hands for the rest of the tour.

Five years later, there is a second jedi-nightsister wedding.

Jocasta is delighted at the number of records being set within her lifetime.

(Jocasta is also officiating all the weddings, btw.)

A couple years after Mace resigns from the council, he decides to plan a shatterpoint lineage family vacation. So Mace, Depa, Grey (who is an unofficial part of their family), Caleb, and Caleb's brand-new Padawan, 11-year-old Ezra (who is pretty young to be a padawan, but he was following caleb around all the time anyway so caleb figured he might as well just make the apprenticeship official), all pack up... and go to Ryloth.

Caleb, who twenty-five at this point, promptly gets his first crush.

Mace Regrets This Vacation. He's actually started seeing marriage Shatterpoints. Depa and Grey, meanwhile, think it's really really funny that Caleb gets flustered around Hera, and Ezra has made more than a few insinuations about political alliances via marriage. Depa warns him that Caleb will get his revenge, but Ezra dismisses it. Corporations are already nickle and dimeing people every chance they get, and to think some new startup “company” wants to give “consumers” an “app” to voice read “content” by scraping AO3, harvesting data, using AI, stealing FREE fanworks, having it be opt OUT… is beyond infuriating when screen readers already exist.

This “app” was not made in respect to authors or anyone else. There is no interaction. There is no community. Only consume.

Fanfic is, and SHOULD BE, non-monetized. Legally, copyright material is already a grey area. But I guess this “company” shoved that reality under the rug to pretend it didn’t matter. All for profit, amiright?

Respect the people who create things. We do this for free out of our own time, using blood, swear, and tears all because we have a strong dedication to what we’re creating for. Fandom is supposed to be fun. It’s a community. Not “consume consume consume..” for profit.

That’s what AO3 is, and always will be. Non-profit.

G - Gentle (How gentle are they both physically and emotionally?)

Billy is exceptionally gentle with you in the beginning, most likely because a. he's not investing a lot because he figures you're gonna wise up and leave soon enough, and b. as you begin to stay longer and longer he then kinda starts panicking about how he should go about putting in the effort to make you stay. Well because... he really didn't think you would. So now that you're here each new day he begins to worry. He still worries that you're going to leave. That never left. But now you've been around so long that he actually cares now. He's invested. There's some feeling and emotion at stake. Oh god! Bleeding hearts of the world unite, amiright? And he's bad at this. Like endearingly, baby deer on shaky legs, bad. He's so worried that if he doesn't treat you gently, wrap you in bubble wrap. Never lose his temper. Always kiss you. Always be the 'good boyfriend'. Never shout. Type of guy. ... That he's gonna lose you. That he's gonna break you. And that it will be his fault. And that like everything else in his life, he'll feel he deserves this. This is his lot in life.

And he has a lot to learn. And it's gonna happen. Most likely when push comes to shove and he just can't keep swallowing it anymore. You have a hell of a fight. You can't stand be treated with kid gloves. You've seen him angry, you don't like him pretending around you but not others. You shove him. You lose your own temper and hit him. He pushes you away and you fall and hit your head. And it just all explodes. Tears and fear, shame and anger and anguish. "You won't like me now!" Items being thrown and broken. Thrusting you straight into a hurricane. "I break everything I touch!" Trying to talk him through it, but really having no choice but to weather the storm with him. Waiting until he's exhausted and sliding down the wall to the floor. Knuckles bloody and drywall dented, just to sit next to him quietly. "You can be angry Billy." As he numbly sits there with tears still silently rolling down his face. "I want all of you, not some of you."

P - Patience (How easily angered are they?)

Billy is not a patient person but he's working on it. A lot of Billy's anger is tied to his anxiety. His patience was thinnest when you were first starting off. That's when you had to be the patient one, with enough to spare for the both of you. It was almost like a long-con marshmallow test. The longer you could make your own patience last, the better payout you would get with Billy, your proverbial marshmallow.

Things are better the longer you are together. He'll catch himself as his voice rises, and he'll bite it off quickly. His eyebrows knitting together and shoulders drooping with a huffed "sorry". There's times when you might do something that irks him, and you'll catch his nose scrunching in annoyance, or his knuckles clenching and unclenching before he exhales and looks at you. "What?" "You know what?" And then you smile sheepishly, "Oh yeah... sorry." But most of his anger and his impatience has little to do with you. It's woven into his environment. It's when he realizes he got caught up spending too much time with you and is past curfew. So he may run out the door without saying 'good night' properly. Or he's gotten a less than stellar grade on a midterm, and to top it off Max is late after school.

You've had plenty of fights. More than a handful of screaming matches. But they blow over and you've learned that being with him learns having to rise and fall with his mercurial moods.

G - Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment, or are they humorous, etc)

Billy is primarily serious during any and all aspects of sex, but he can complement your energy. He'll laugh with you if you laugh at something or if you fall out of your jeans onto your face. He can appreciate spontaneous and unexpected moments. But for the most part, your lungs are going to be so busy screaming that it's going to be rather hard to joke or laugh at anything.

P - Pace (Are they fast and rough? Slow and sensual? etc.)

Billy can alternate. It definitely depends on his mood, the day that it's been, how much time you have to be together, etc. He'll also definitely slow his pace to drag out his endurance and/or to make you earn it.

Billy always starts right out of the gates like a shot. He might ease in kindly. Other times not. But once in? Oh no no no, honey. You better grab onto something. He edges off a bit when he gets a good rhythm started, but the pace will stay consistent. And if he's already learned where those spots are that makes you gasp and cry? Oh, it's rough. Long deep strokes. Slow pulls back, as he locks eyes with you, just to meanly thrust back inside you. Make your neck snap backward, and your jaw fall slack.

okay, I want to draw a ofmd based tarot deck 😳

for now, i’m only thinking about major arcana with the main plot line. the fool’s journey where stede is the fool (respectfully)

but it would be so fun to draw all 72 cards!! with all the subplots and characters

i’ve done some rough sketches for the start, i’ll continue after season two is out. idk yet if I should wait even for season three with this project (if it’ll happen lol) maybe i’ll just redraw some cards later… who knows! I think I need to draw my ideas while they’re fresh anyway lol

so about what’s going on with the cards now

THE FOOL start of stede’s journey where he’s still hopeful and a bit naive. sign of the new beginnings

THE EMPRESS represents femininity, motherhood and creation. I think mary with her art is perfect for this card

THE EMPEROR father figure, authority and structure

THE LOVERS scene from the picnic where luscious first noticed the spark. I also like how the original card has a snake as a sign of temptation and in this scene, they also eat a snake (I wasn't planning on it when started to draw I think it’s destiny)

THE HERMIT so here is the s2 izzy where I assume he’ll get so of redemption arc and will face himself on top of everything else. also, he is almost always surrounded but the candles and has a clear attraction to the flames, I wonder how it’ll affect the symbolism. anyway this card is still a speculation, this is only my gut feeling

DEATH originally this card is not necessarily dark, it is mostly about the ending of a cycle. but in this case, I thought that this particular scene defined ed’s relationship with death and the act of killing. also, it’s kinda about ending a cycle of abuse (not sure about this one)

THE DEVIL I think it’s mostly about how ed sees himself and I wanted to draw the figurines lol (idk i’m too heartbroken about my emo baby girl I can't explain my feelings aaaaaa)

THE TOWER this is where it all started for me haha. this is the card that represents the destruction of beliefs and foundations and I think the lighthouse painting is PERFECT for it. how it all shattered and stuff (screaming)

THE MOON love this one is about anxiety and betrayal and not important about seeing the danger in the wrong things. and I like that on the original card there is a wolf and a domesticated dog and they are such a good parallel to ed and steed 😖 and izzy is the crayfish sorry not sorry (more like cryfish amIright??)

*This is a reference to a song by Anssi Kela that was popular in the early 2000's. It's generally considered an upbeat (overly so to some) and folksy song that makes fun of social class, but here Käärijä recontextualizes it as a song about privilege, which is interesting considering how poverty, unemployment and severe mental health issues among young adults have reached an all-time high in the past decade. Just throwing in some extra context here because I genuinely think most of Käärijä's lyrics have a subtext of exceptionally sharp-sighted social/societal commentary that deserves more attention.

**He actually did this a couple of years ago, he sold his mustache for 52 euros lol. The buyer showed up ag one of his recent gigs with the mustache in a ziplock bag. There's a hilarious video of it somewhere, I'll see if I can find it after posting

***"Red Marli" refers to a specific cheap juice that basically tastes like sweet non-alcoholic mulled wine. It's a popular winter drink and apparently Käärijä's vodka mixer of choice. He's made a super fun song about this weird spiced juice simply called Punainen Marli, I'm actually thinking of translating that one next hehe. (There's another intertextual cross-reference between these two songs, since at the beginning of Punainen Marli the listener is warmly welcomed to Käärijä's tavern, the one he mentions having dreamed of in this song.)

Hi! I’m v curious and I’m pretty new to all this, so I wanted to know what you might suggest. Do you think it’s best to keep an art blog and your own blog as separate, or to conflate the two?

that's a tricky one, unhelpful answer but I think it really depends on your preference ;o; if you want you could have both; post everything to your main account and then reblog just your art to an art blog (I do this on twitter) or vice versa where u post art seperately on an art blog and reblog to ur main blog

Cause I tend to reblog/retweet a lot of stuff I keep em seperated just in case I or someone else just wants to browse the art (luckily on tumblr this is a lil easier with art tags, but just requires some extra clicks for a visitor)

at the same time these days people tend to like artists who have a bit of personality and see a bit of their dialogue too (parasocial relationships amiright) so I don't think you can really go wrong here idk. Unless you like to vent publicly, then I'd try to keep that seperate from ur art
