Hour 1

"A toast before chaos"

Time: [ 11:03 PM ]

There's a special place in heaven and/or hell reserved for people who throw huge house parties. What kind of a sociopath would risk their own home to become a place of sex, drugs and overall chaos induced by alcohol? Well, even though you disliked the whole concept of "parties are the pinnacle of your 20s" you still often went out with friends. Unfortunately, you had your own ways of learning how to not drink too much, trying to teach yourself something from your past mistakes. Still, you felt pretty stable and non pliable in making certain decisions for yourself.

Before you could even prepare yourself for mayhem, your best friend Jimin pushed you inside, already tipsy from pregaming at his place.

"Idiot! I almost fell."

"But you didn't, Y/N. That's the best part."

He teased you, making you slap his arm. People around you seemed to be observing the two of you, given the fact there was a rumor going around the university that you were in a casual relationship. Mostly sexual. However, there was nothing in your friendship that came across more than platonic.

Often times, both of you loved to provoke the people who spread those false rumors, getting a lot more "touchy-feely" in front of them. Their reactions were the fuel for your ongoing jokes.

So, out of pure spite, you two stirred the pot because the only thing you could do is to catch up with the chaos itself, especially at parties. You felt at ease once you finally got inside, observing how relaxing the whole house looked. People were scattered over the whole house, talking, dancing, laughing. Some upped the alcohol amount already, sometimes a common mistake among people. Girls were laughing and shyly drinking from their cups. However, you strongly believed in the saying - "It's always calm before the storm."

So, all you could do was make sure Jimin would sober up through the late hours, enough to walk you home and sit through the madness. Although, there were countless instances when you had to walk, almost carry him home, since he often forgot his limits.

Nonetheless, Jimin was a lovely guy, a good friend but unfortunately suffered a bad case of "Friday worshipping." It was a term you made up about generalized group of people who loved partying and couldn't stay at home on Fridays under any circumstances. And oh boy, Jimin adored Fridays.

His attention turned to the living room, hearing one of his favorite songs play. Jimin smiled right away once his best friend approached him. It was Taehyung, and you were attending his party. You indeed had no idea this was his party, let alone his house. If you knew you probably wouldn't come since you couldn't stand some of Jimin's friends, especially Taehyung.

"You know me so well." Jimin teased, nudging into his shoulder. Taehyung giggled, engaging in the small talk with him. You stood by Jimin's side, making the awkward eye contact around the room with people whilst the two of them talked. You felt under pressure once realizing Taehyung kept his eyes fixed on you in between talking.

You only officially met a few months ago, and you have been avoiding him at parties ever since. You have seen him around before, obviously, but just few months ago you talked for a little while, only to realize you didn't like his persona one bit. Taehyung seemed fake once he was out drinking, making you dislike him immediately. Maybe it was his aura or his cocky attitude, but something seemed off about him. Jimin always talked about Tae in the best way possible. Apparently, Taehyung was polar opposite in front of his friends, but his alter-ego always showed at parties and other social interactions of greater altitude. His soft, caring and deeper side didn't really impress you since you only seen him as a drunken mess or a womanizer. Or both.

Taehyung was good with the ladies, but became bored quite easily, getting the pleasure he needed only to dip out the next morning. Plus, he wasn't really good at articulating his thoughts. Just intrusive words and sentences exhaled into thin air out of nowhere.

Jimin made the first mistake of the night - left you alone with Taehyung.

"Jimin, no." You tried to whisper to him while he walked past you, furrowing his eyebrows out of slight confusion. As soon as you turned towards Taehyung, he was standing closer.

"Y/N, hey."

"Hi." you spoke quickly. As you were trying to come up with the idea to excuse yourself, he was quicker.

"Before you make up a reason to leave, as a host, I have to present you the "Supreme Kim host tradition." He smirked, grabbing a bottle of whiskey.

"I'm scared." Your deadpan tone made him chuckle.

"It's simple. You just have to drink with the host."

"And that's it?" You furrowed your eyebrows, confused by his manners.

"Yup." He poured the hard liquor into both white cups.

You wanted to drink immediately, but he scolded you.

"Yah. No cheers, nothing?" He raised his cup. His overly friendly attitude was concerning you. Something about him seemed off, but you couldn't decide what it was given the fact you were also slightly tipsy by this point. If you had to put your drunkeness on a scale you were at a solid 4/10. Still manageable, impressively not tripping over words.

"Cheers." You clank cups with him, remaining eye contact for a second. Taehyung downed his whiskey with ease, his face flinching slightly. You felt the strong drink hit the back of your throat, the rising burning sensation dominating your mouth. Taehyung stood in silence, glancing around the room before turning his attention towards you.

"Nice house, I guess. Good luck cleaning tomorrow morning." Your monotone voice was already irritating Taehyung, who just wanted to get to know you. As much as he knew the two of you never really got along, he wanted to know what was the repulsive thing that was dragging his will away from getting to know you. And vice versa.

"Oh, come on. Who cares about tomorrow morning?" He scoffed.

You kept silent, marinating in that awkward interaction, hoping he'd leave soon.

"You're not as wild as usual. Don't like the music?" Taehyung broke off the silence, not letting you win that easily. Both of you knew what you were doing.

"How do you know I'm wild?"

"I've seen you at parties sophomore year. Thought you left uni though. But lately you started going out again, right?"

"Well I'm here. I just became a book worm." You gave a half assed answer, making Taehyung dissatisfied with your lack of enthusiasm and emotion on your face. He felt the need to see the drunken version of you, before you even met him. He knew about your old party lifestyle, so you could say he was quite curious about seeing that again.

"A book worm? Or, you watched 10 Things I Hate About You way too many times and now you think you have that "Kat" bad ass persona while everyone at school still knows you as the slut-" Taehyung's direct tone sounded like a personal attack, your brain sending signals for you to leave.

"Nice party. See you around." You cut him off, wanting to leave immediately but he pulled your arm softly.

"I'm sorry. I won't be an ass. I promise." He tried to keep a smile hidden, but failed.

"Too late." You scoffed at him right as Jimin returned with a full cup.

You were so happy that the music was louder, since you wouldn't be able to stand the awkward silence you got stuck in again.

"So, what you talked about?" Jimin took a sip noticing a tension between the two of you.

"Nothing. I was just on my way to go the bathroom and hang around the place. If I don't see you, I'll call you when it's time to go home. You trust me, right?

"For a hundredth time, always. When have I not?" Jimin smiled, nodding at everything you said.

"Don't make me count." You placed a kiss onto his cheek, avoiding eye contact with Tae, who didn't like that one bit.

You felt Taehyung's heavy stare as you walked away, shaking your head. You successfully survived this interaction, wanting to treat yourself with another drink.

Passing by your peers, you made your way to the bathroom, thanking heavens it wasn't occupied. Taehyung's house looked better than you'd expect, the vintage interior combined with modern decorations impressing your taste. It was obvious he didn't live alone.

Taehyung lived with a few friends at this house, and you disliked almost all of them.

Bathrooms were always a weird place to be at the bathroom. And usually in the first hour of any party bathrooms were confessional spaces for drunken girls. You enjoyed the silence, and hoped you wouldn't give into the old version of yourself this night. You had a quite a long pep talk in the mirror.

Downstairs, Taehyung was trying to turn his focus on Jimin, who seemed a little anxious.

"What is it? You look weird."

"Nothing, I'm just...I think I'm going to do the right thing tonight." Jimin shyly spoke.

Taehyung furrowed his eyebrows and downed Jimin's drink.

"You had too much of these, obviously." Taehyung's tone was serious so Jimin started laughing, whining at him.

"Stop it. You know what I'm talking about." Jimin was now actually serious, pouring himself a new drink.

Taehyung couldn't help himself. He couldn't focus on Jimin. Maybe it was the music that suddendly got too loud and his palms started to sweat. It was the heat he felt in his cheeks due to alcohol. Taehyung made his first mistake of the night - he drank too much, way too soon.

Given the fact he wasn't much of a drinker, he hated the stereotype he got himself into - "people who can't drink much always get shitfaced by first 20 minutes at a party."

He was often teased by his friends because of it, so Taehyung tried to act natural, but it was poorly executed. He didn't focus on Jimin's voice at all, especially once you came back downstairs. Seeing you smile and joke around with people you ran into made him see the other version of you, the more enthusiastic one.

Sure, he thought you were quite attractive, even wanted to sleep with you on numerous occasions that you were out drinking, but this time Taehyung was certain it would happen. They don't call it the liquor of courage for no reason.

Suddenly, inside Taehyung's drunken brain, a plan was forming.

As you were talking with some friends from uni, Jimin and Taehyung both kept his eyes fixed on you, adoring how your dress fit you perfectly.

"You wanna go hang out with Y/N?" Jimin quickly spoke

"Yup." Taehyung's horny brain answered without a thought, following him like a puppy.

"Haven't lost me yet!" Jimin spoke over the loud music, interrupting a conversation between you and two girls. He put his arms over you, making you roll your eyes.

"I give you an hour. Guarantee you'll lose me." You joked with Jimin as Taehyung was getting to know names to your friends. A big red flag to you. You didn't want anyone, especially your friends fool around with someone like him. A total ass.

"Anyways. You guys really that bored you came here to bother us?" You asked them both, looking Taehyung directly in the eyes, wanting to signal him to leave you and your friends alone.

"Oh c'mon. Don't be like that. Besides, we wanted to invite you to do a shot of tequila with us. Jungkook just brought it." Taehyung found an excuse pretty fast, noticing Jungkook behind you carry two bottles of tequila.

"Thank god I have the lemons." Taehyung cheekily smiled at you.

Your cheeks reddened upon hearing his name. Jungkook was shaking you up for a long time now. That awful feeling when your heart suddenly stops for a second after you see someone you have a crush on in this setting. And there he really was, standing tall next to you in the brightly lit white kitchen in his usual all black oversized clothing. He seemed to be having fun, drinking slowly from his cup as Jimin and Taehyung were cutting up the lemons and preparing the tequila shots. There were 6 of you at the kitchen counter. Yourself, your two friends, Taehyung, Jimin, and Jungkook.

Jungkook.

He was one of Jimin's friends you were crushing on for quite a long time. Jimin introduced you to Jungkook Freshman year of college and since then, you've been crushing on him in phases, only when he was available. Somehow, your brain gave up on him immediately once he got with someone else, making you feel tired of chasing him, given he wasn't single.

So, you could say you were quite considerate to him, always taking an innocent peek at him and his good looks. You only spoke on brief occasions, but even then only one question in your mind was reserved for him - please can we kiss? Of course you were never daring enough to say it out loud.

You and Jungkook were just quietly giggling to Jimin's jokes, spending most of your time staring at the floor.

"So good to see you. I haven't seen you in a long time at the party." Jungkook broke off the silence between the two of you. It made your heart almost stop beating.

"Yeah. I got bored at home. Wanted to have fun like the old times." You tried to ignore your sweaty palms.

Since Taehyung was often eaves dropping, he eavesdropped on your conversation. He realized how different and more reserved your answer to that question was when Jungkook asked you as opposed to him asking you the same question almost an hour prior. It really became obvious you were trying to sound cool in front of Jungkook.

"I get it. I love to balance out alone time and this." He pointed at the living room that was full of people dancing. It made you laugh how he stood out of chaos as such a calm figure - in the moment contradictory to what he was saying.

"I don't think you can get that wasted and dance like that." You turned around to observe the "too soon" drunk dude who had the time of his life dancing to pop music from 2000s.

He took the perfect opportunity to take a peek at your ass when your back was turned to him. Who wouldn't?

"You haven't seen me drunk yet." He smiled and looked down, taking a sip of his drink.

"I guess there's time for everything."

Taehyung thought your attempt at flirting was a crock of shit, and disliked your nervousness.

Jungkook thought you looked cute nervous.

"Here you go guys." Taehyung stood next to you, handing you and Jungkook the shots.

While everyone was putting some salt on their hand to lick it off, Taehyung took the initiative and sprinkled some salt on your and his hand.

Everyone said cheers and downed the shot, doing the drinking procedure. Taehyung did it in the fastest and most dynamic way, making you startled.

Taehyung had a mission for tonight. He wanted to bring out that fun side out of you, even if you hated him afterwards. There was something rewarding in you making slight contact with his skin, but he tried his hardest not to make moves on you. He wanted to get to know you, everything else was just a bonus.

Finally, as you were to grab your lemon to drink a belated shot, you realized Taehyung didn't give you a slice of lemon. You turned to look at him.

Taehyung opened his mouth slowly, revealing half the lemon for you to chew on.

"Ew."

"C'mon he's looking." Taehyung whispered to you.

"No way in hell."

"He likes wild girls, since you know, he's lame. This will impress him."

Jungkook slightly smirked, downing the little tequila he didn't finish from the first try.

"Shut up." You sighed, and in quick motions, drank - licked the salt - pulled Taehyung in for a kiss just to steal the lemon from his mouth. After a few swirls of your tongue, you managed to steal the lemon, chewing on it as you pulled away. Everyone in the kitchen cheered and you never seen Taehyung, such an ass, so proud of himself.

Jungkook smirked a little more, killing you inside because you couldn't read off his expression as he got up to talk to Jimin, who had his back turned to you and Taehyung.

"Whoops." Taehyung drunkenly giggled.

"What?"

"Nothing." He still didn't want to be the one to tell you that you were Jimin's long term crush. But he realized he might have broken the bro code.

"You're a good kisser." Taehyung spoke accidentally out loud, but it suited his usual direct approach perfectly.

You too - you spoke to yourself inside your mind.

"You're childish." You scoffed and walked towards Jimin, who forced a smile out. Jungkook, the good guy he was, excused himself before he went to the loud living room.

Approaching Jimin, you forced a smile out too. The room was slightly spinning but you were still quite impressed that you didn't bump into someone or something.

Jimin, of course, immediately pulled your hand.

"I knew we would see each other soon. I'm not that bad." He immediately started joking, easing up the conversation.

"You haven't left kitchen for the whole night. Is everything okay?" You spoke over the loud music.

"I was just about to go follow Jungkook. Hoseok came too. " Jimin nodded.

"Cool." You spoke, hoping Jimin would invite you to come with him. Jimin on the other hand had no idea that your crush was still very much active.

"Did he bring the weed is the question." Jimin wondered as you remembered the brief talk you had about Hoseok bringing weed when you walked to Taehyung's house.

"Aren't we gonna just drink first? I thought I wasn't going to lose you. And you know how you wander off when you smoke?" You smiled at Jimin and he couldn't help not to smile at you, regardless of it all.

"Then, after we smoke, let's play a game. Try to find me just before midnight."

"Alright Cinderella. Don't lose a glass slipper." You joked with him, shaking his hand. Jimin observed you with a loving smile. He was always quite protective of you, helping you in many situations, being the mental caregiver that hangs around crucial moments. He was the first to know you were crushing on Jungkook freshman year, but by the end of sophomore year, he thought that chapter had finished completely, all of your phases ending. Unfortunately, not the case.

"Let's make a toast." Jimin raised his cup towards you, smiling too much.

"To?"

"To Friday nights. Good friends...and frozen pizza."

"Probably best inventions ever created."

Jimin stood quietly for a little bit, sneaking a look up and down your body.

"Couldn't agree more."

Dreams and Fables - 1x1 Discord Partner

Hi all! My name is Fawn (She/Her, 26, Canadian), and I want to expand my horizons in search of a new writing buddy! I am ONLY looking to write 1x1 on a private Discord server.

I am seeking a partner to write 1x1 with. I am not looking to join any sites or servers at this time. The main genre I tend to focus on is Supernatural/Supernatural creatures. Please note that I do not write in any fandoms, considering my characters are only OCs.

I am a muse bomb ready to explode... ;) I am looking for someone active, ready to send me gifs, playlists, Pinterest boards, muse in general, and of course, write something awesome! I am looking for someone who can post minimally two to three times a week. It does not have to be super quick or super long responses, but I don’t want to wait for more than a week or so (of course under certain circumstances, I understand!)

What I’m looking for in a partner?

• 25+ is a requirement. Preferably She/Her or They/Them due to unfortunate past experiences.

• I would prefer if a partner was in a similar timezone as myself, just to make plotting/musing/writing easier for both of us. I am currently in CST (GMT-6). A difference of one to three hours is ideal.

• Must have an advanced writing style. (3-5 paragraphs - Novella length replies preferred, but not necessary depending on circumstances/plots/etc). I also enjoy Rapid Fire, and shorter replies, as long as the literacy/grammar skills are still present. 

• Active (Replies at least 2-3+ times a week.)

• Someone who is enthusiastic about plotting and characters and coming up with unique ideas!

• Someone who plays a wide variety of characters/personalities. I ONLY play males, and if we are writing romance/smut, I would prefer if your character was female as all of my characters are heterosexual.

• Please keep in mind I do not have any triggers or sensitive subjects. That being said, I will fully respect yours, so please let me know if you have anything that is a no-go.

• Please note that I do not write with anime/cartoon/drawn characters. Characters must have a faceclaim belonging to a real person/celebrity.

• I will ask for a writing sample (can be from a site, another 1x1 setting, etc. As long as it is current), just to make sure that our writing styles will work well together. Thank you for your understanding in advance. :)

Plots I’m interested in?

• I love my ships - I only do M/F, where I write M. I do not write F under any circumstance. I love my fluff/smut and will defend our ships fiercely!

• I REALLY want plots involving angst/fluff/dark subjects! I'm a sucker for trauma, character development, dark histories, crazy scenarios, adventures, etc. As previously stated, mostly anything goes as long as it is in one of the genres listed above.

• Friendship plots - I love a good friendship plot, childhood friends, etc. Whether it be simply platonic or grows into something more.

• I’m a big fan of angst that will cause my characters some discomfort, annoyance, and character growth. Whether it traumatizes them for life or not is up for debate...

• I’m generally a big fan of romance and smut (of course some angst and fluff thrown in there). If this isn't something you're comfortable with, please do not reach out.

What are my hard no’s?

• Darker than dark – If we are writing smut, I will not write rape/pedophilia/extreme abuse under any circumstance.

• God-Modding/power playing - Some situations call for a little bit of push or shove from either side, but please do not try to control my character's actions or words without my permission or talking to me first. 

• Not so serious - Please keep in mind that writing is a hobby for me, not a fight to the death. All of my boys hold a very special place in my heart which I will protect and defend, but please keep OOC and IC separate and I will do the same.

Anything else?

• I am extremely picky and protective when it comes to my face claims.

• I LOVE musing, and I will send gifs and writing prompts I think fit our characters. I get really excited about plots.

• I am currently working Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30 CST. Therefore, I am around mostly only evenings/weekends.

• Things I like that I will talk to you about any time: Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, Skyrim, Our characters or ships, Musing, Musical Theatre, Theatre, Shakespeare, and Knitting.

Answers below.

Peter OTP: Peter/Nebula, of course. If the 100k+ words of fanfiction I've written about them is anything to go by, they are my OTP of all time. <3 I want Peter to move on and find happiness with someone new after vol. 3 and the movie planted the seeds for these two ending up together in the future really well I think. BrOTP: This was the hardest to decide because I love Peter's friendships with all the other Guardians. Gonna go with Mantis here though because I love how she looks out for her bro and tries to steer him in the right direction. Wish we'd gotten to see more of them being siblings after the holiday special 'cause the confirmation that she was Peter's sister made me so happy! TuT OT3: Shipping Peter with Nebula and Gamora at the same time would be really weird so instead I'm gonna go with Nebula/Peter/Thor in like, a V shaped polycule where Peter is dating them both but Nebula and Thor aren't into each other. NOTP: Ro/quill. I don't think I need to explain myself with this one, but shipping the raccoon with the humanoid characters is weird and gross to me.

Nebula OTP: Same as above, I think her implied feelings for Peter in vol. 3 make all the sense in the world. I mean, why wouldn't Nebula fall for the same person as Gamora? That's just how her life is. I think these two being together would fit their arcs well. Nebula learns to accept that she doesn't have to always be competing with Gamora in order to be worthy of love, and Peter gets his shit together enough to see how Nebula stuck by and cared for him and how Gamora was right about how the person he fell for "sounds more like her." BrOTP: I love her friendship with Rocket so much! Two sad cyborgs goin' on adventures together for five years, I'd kill to see more of that. OT3: Same as above as well I guess, but I don't see Nebula being poly. NOTP: I'm fine with all the big Nebula ships really even if I don't consume their content.

Mantis OTP: I used to ship Mantis/Nebula back in the day and I think that's still my fave Mantis ship even if I no longer go there. I also like the idea of her having a crush on Gamora. BrOTP: Mantis and Drax are my favorite duo ever. Just a couple of strange goofballs pranking each other and causing chaos. OT3: Can't think of anything for this one. NOTP: I don't hate Mantis and Drax as a romantic pairing but them just being weird best friends means so much to me. We need more platonic M/F relationships like them.

Phos OTP: I like all the Phos ships but can't deny that Phos/Cinnabar is my favorite. I know you haven't read the manga yet but I reread this one part of it earlier in the week that makes me wanna throw Phos in the trash because we could have had it all!! xD BrOTP: I really enjoyed Phos and Cairngorm's dynamic. OT3: Phos/Cinnabar/Antarc. Idk how it'd work out but all I know is that I want all three of these rocks to be happy. NOTP: I'm not picky with HNK ships but I'm sure some people ship Phos with Aechmea so no thanks to that.

Toko OTP: Toko/Komaru! These two mean the world to me. Seeing Toko end up with an amazing girlfriend who supports and loves her after everything she's been through and the development she underwent in Ultra Despair Girls damn made me cry. BrOTP: I love the interactions between her and Makoto in her Free Time events. The Naegis are the only ones who can tame this girl. OT3: I like the Toko/Sayaka ship so I can imagine an AU where she survives and throuples up with Tokomaru. NOTP: Byakuya. These two are the worst for each other and no one can change my mind.

Aoi OTP: I very much enjoy her and Sakura together. BrOTP: Yuta Asahina deserved better and in my personal headcanon, he survives UDG and gets to see his sis again. OT3: I think Sakura had a boyfriend so sandwich Hina in between them. NOTP: Got no strong negative feelings for any Hina ships.

Romantic sparks would be an explicit indication that the person you are with is someone you want to have a romantic relationship with.

Yeah because i don't believe in the "I was in love this entire time without noticing it" thing. While 2 friends can enter later in a relationship, in normal times a frienship rarely, and this regardless of gender, allows such a developpement since the two friends feel tied by a special bond that romance could ruined for it was not their motivation in the first place. That's why I don't like people teasing a man saying a woman "is just a friend" because when he genuinely feels that way towards her, imagining being in a romantic relationship with her would make him feel awakard since a bound like friendship is precisely a different kind of love than romance.

That's what I meant by Chrom and Robin doesn't reak romantic vibes or sparks. While I hate the F!Robin / Chrom convos because of the whole fanservicey stuff compared to the deep conversation he had with M!Robin, what I liked was that it showed that regardless of gender, Chrom acts the same way with Robin (unlike the writers). Both in their own way showed a complicity that goes beyong romance but is not romance but is superior to romance because it has deeper roots. That's personnaly the only meaning I see in Chrom and Robin's bond deeper than fates.

I actually am glad that M!Robin is being pushed because we all know that if it was F!Robin, all hopes for her relationship with Chrom to stay platonic would have been buried by the fandom. Now dealing with people who can't comprehend that two men can mean the world to each other while loving romantically someone else (because YES it is possible) or dealing with people that can't comprehend that a man and a woman can mean the world to each other while loving romantically someone else is something due to people being more invested into romance in general than friendship which is a pity. Because it's what is Chrobin's relationship to my eyes.

And now I feel like we know who to blame for those awful support chain that Lucina has with Female Robin. Unless he was talking about Male Robin and in that moments Lucina is misogynist. Thanks Gerome

Fascining anon thank you for answering me! I guess it's how I see a lot of Pokemon ships, Ash and Dawn feels more sibling like to me. Never feel ashamed for liking a pairing more platonically and please tell this to people in the Pokemon fandom who go nuts when people hold hands...

However I do have to question a friendship never getting romantic sparks it can happen, just like it can never happen, nothing in this world is black and white, while I do think most friendships don't take a different course and the implication a man and a woman can't just be friends is obnoxious I do think it's possible to take that direction, people are friends before they start dating right? I've also heard the term, I married my best friend.

I do think everyone is waaay too hyperfocused on romance in general though and it carries over to shipping all the time yes

But even I, an aromantic ship things so there's something there in fictional ships and relationships that is nothing like real life somewhere. As for what it is, I have no idea and I don't know if there are studies on it

SFW Alphabet - Belphegor

My last post about Levi seemed to do really well, so I thought I would continue with this series. Belphie is my other fave, so I hope I do him justice. Also, sorry if anything seems weird, I wrote this all super late (for me anyway) so there might be some mistakes. 

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

At first, he isn’t super affectionate. Verbal affection is just hard for him in general, and he’s scared that he may hurt you with physical affection. However, he eventually comes around and becomes super affectionate with you. Sleeping together is a must for him, and he’ll often pass out on your shoulder or lap when you two hag out. Verbal affection is still often a challenge, but he does try is best to tell you just how much you mean to him. He also loves both giving and receiving head pats. 

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

 You two often hang out in the attic together. Whatever you decide to do depends on the day, but most activities will end up with him (and sometimes you) falling asleep. Beel also joins you during hang-outs. You guys will also platonically cuddle all the time. Most conversations between you are very sarcastic and filled with banter, but it’s only (partially) joking. He also likes to ruffle your hair since he likes the reaction it gets out of you. 

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

  This boy is the king of cuddles. He can honestly fall asleep anywhere at anytime, but he finds that he sleeps the easiest in your arms. While he likes any cuddling position, his favorite is when you lay on your back and he rests his head on your chest. He also likes when you run your fingers through his hair. In his demon form, he’ll wrap his tail around your leg as a small sign of possession. He’ll also bump you with his horns so that you’ll pet those as well since they’re sensitive and helps him fall asleep faster. 

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

He doesn’t really have a preference one way or another. If you feel the need to settle down, he’ll join you without question. However, if you wish not too, he wouldn’t really care. While he is not a fan of cleaning, he is a surprisingly good cook. Since Beel is his twin, and they have that special connection, he often knows when Beel is particularly hungry and can’t control it. Because of this, he learned how to cook in order to make sure his twin had enough snacks for the day. Even though it started as simply something for his twin, he’s found that cooking is quite fun, and enjoys cooking with you. 

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

He’s the kind of person that would just straight up tell someone that he’s breaking up with them. To him, if he feels the need to break up with someone, then that person’s feelings no longer matter (at least, to him they don’t). He could care less if the other leaves the situation absolutely heartbroken; he just doesn’t have the time or energy to care. Maybe if it was someone he actually really liked and wanted to keep as a friend, he wouldn’t be as harsh, but he’d still be blunt regardless. 

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

As stated above, he doesn’t really care either way. He’s down to go along with whatever you want as long as you don’t make him work too much. If you want to get married, he’ll go along with it as long as Beel gets to be his best man. And if you decide you don’t want to get married, he’s fine just living with you and being with you without the ring. 

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

At first, he’s very gentle. After the incident, he is so afraid of hurting you again. There’s even a point where he goes into a near-panic when he accidentally touches you, and it gets so bad that the brothers have to stage an intervention. Once he’s calmed down and you’ve assured him that you trust him, he’s less cautious, but still gentle. He knows that demons are much stronger than humans, so he still tries to be careful even if he knows you’re not made of glass. 

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Hugs are one of his favorite forms of affection. He’ll hug you all the time, especially in front of the brothers in hopes of making them jealous. A lot of his hugs consists of him coming up behind you, wrapping his arms around your middle, and placing his head on top of yours. He’s even managed to fall asleep like this a few times. Out of all the brothers, his hugs are the best due to their warmth and softness. 

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

It takes him a while to actually say the phrase, but it’s obvious that he loves you. He’s not one to really express his feelings through words, so he’s never actually thought that saying it was necessary. However, when you say it during one of your late-night cuddle sessions, he finally decides to say it as well.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

He’s not as bad as Levi or Mammon, but he’s still pretty jealous. Although, he won’t actually say or do anything about it. If he’s jealous of one of his brothers, he’ll leave it to you to actually figure it out for yourself and then come apologize to him. But, if it is some random demon that’s trying to hit on you, he will try to drag you away with some excuse of him being tired and wanting a nap. 

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

His kisses are super lazy and tired, but that’s to be expected. His favorite spot to kiss you is on your neck. He likes how flustered you get, and he likes teasing you about how sensitive your neck is. His favorite place to be kissed is on the forehead. He finds it super comforting, and he especially likes it when he’s about to fall asleep. 

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

Of all the brothers, he is, surprisingly, one of the best with children. It’s not that he likes them, or that he’s even good at controlling them; he just knows how to put them to sleep really quick. He can have them out in a matter of minutes, no matter how energetic the child. And, fun secret, he actually doesn’t mind children all that much. He just hates when they get loud or go all crazy. 

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

Mornings are usually spent cuddling in bed until you two have five minutes to get down to breakfast before Lucifer beats y’all half to death. Most of the time, you wake up before him, but it’s impossible to get up since he’s always wrapped around you and refuses to let go. Once, Beel had to come in and actually drag you two out of bed because he refused to get up on time. 

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

Nights are usually spent with him trying to stay awake while y’all watch a movie or something, but you both know that won’t happen. Instead, he usually falls asleep on top of you, leaving you with two options. One, you can try to drag him to bed, which almost never works. Or two, you can just fall asleep there and hope you aren’t sore in the morning from the weird position. Eventually, and no matter which option you go with, you both end up asleep in each other’s arms and sleeping peacefully. 

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

He is a very secretive demon by nature, so opening up is really hard for him. He really wants to, and he knows you also want him to, but he just can’t. And when he does finally start opening up, he takes it very slow. This is so that he doesn’t overwhelm you, or himself for that matter. He’s scared that showing too much of himself at once will make you leave him, and that’s the last thing he wants, so he tries to hide it for as long as possible. 

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

He isn’t ever angry so much as very passive aggressive. He’ll make snide comments, give mean stares, and make rude gestures whenever pissed off. This usually happens when he gets jealous of a lower-level demon, but it never usually escalates past that. However, there are those few times in which he does get legit mad, and that’s when the yelling starts. If he knows he’s losing against whoever he’s fighting, he’ll storm off to either his room or the attic until either you or Beel comes to get him. 

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

He tries to remember things, he really does, but he just seems to forget things really easily. He’ll remember big things - birthdays, anniversaries, and your favorite things (shows, games, etc.), but he always tends to forget smaller things. He doesn’t mean to, and you know that he is trying, but sometimes it can be difficult when he forgets that date you two had planned and went to sleep instead. 

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

His favorite moment is when you two were cuddling together one night after he got into a fight with one of his brothers. He was really upset after that argument, and he didn’t have the will to do much else other than lay down and sleep. But, as always, you came to his aid and stayed with him all throughout his self-loathing party. At one point, you began humming quietly in an attempt to make him feel better, and that’s what did it. He began crying quietly, letting all of his insecurity flood out to you. The entire time, you sat there, listening patiently. When he was done, you kissed his forehead and told him that everything would be okay, and that everyone loved him no matter what. It was also this moment that made him truly fall in love with you. 

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

He would never admit it like most other things, but he loves the idea of being protected by you. He knows that scenario is a bit weird, but he just loves it so much. You’re so caring towards him, and he loves the thought of you protecting him from something that he could obviously handle on his own, just because you love him. It makes his heart melt a little. And, of course, he also protects you from anything that seems even mildly dangerous. He vowed to never hurt you, and he also vows to never let anything else hurt you. 

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

He puts in about as much effort as you would expect from him. He does really try, but he just never has the energy to do much. Plus, he knows that you prefer smaller, less extravagant things anyway. Most of the time, special days will be spent with just the two of you (and maybe Beel) either in the attic or the planetarium. You two will spend the whole day together, cuddling and just enjoying each other’s presence.  He usually always tries to make you some sort of food, usually a sweet of some kind. 

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

Obviously, he has a bad habit of sleeping in too much. At first, it wasn’t a problem, but now it happens more often than it should, and for far too long. He also has a bad habit of being overprotective of you. In his mind, you are a weak, fragile human that needs to be protected from even the smallest of things. Eventually, he does learn that you can take care of yourself, but that doesn’t stop him from taking it a bit too far sometimes. 

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

One of the last things on his mind is how he looks. Like Levi, he spends most of his time inside, so why should he bother with something as stupid as appearance? He often gets into petty fights about this with Asmo, who is always trying to get him to try harder on his appearance. 

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

He honestly thought he could do fine without you, but when you went home after the exchange program ended, he was falling apart. True to his character, he didn’t let it show, even after you can back, but it always stuck with him from then on that he needed you. He couldn’t stand being away from you, and if it happens again he will go on a rampage. 

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

As I stated previously, I headcanon him to be really good at cooking. At first, he’s shy about it, but soon you two are sharing kitchen duty with each other all the time. He originally learned so that he could cook for Beel, but he also likes cooking for the rest of his brothers (and you too). 

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

He’s not too fond of extraverted people, or people who have a lot of energy in general. It’s fine if you have some energy, but too much is where he draws the line. He has enough of that going on with his brothers, so he prefers someone quieter to enjoy peace and quiet with. 

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)

He has a habit of sleeping with other people. It’s easier for him to sleep when someone else is in bed with him, so that’s what he prefers. Prior to the attic, he would actually go to Lucifer and ask to stay with him (if Beel wasn’t available). Now, he usually just sleeps with you or Beel or both.

16. what confuses you about typical romantic relationships?

probably the expectation that by making a commitment to this person, you have to spend most of your time with them or put them above a friendship. a common fear in the aro community is having a close friend drop you to make more room for their partner, which is very valid because it’s actually happened to many of us.

there’s also this weird idea that a m/f friendship can’t be possible without some sort of physical/romantic attraction. it pisses the hell out of me because i’ve seen people on tiktok talk about how uncomfortable it makes them to see how close their partner is with their best friend, and i just don’t know how to explain what bothers me about that. the friends to lovers trope is cute and all but it’s definitely driven everyone to think that everybody falls in love for their best friend, which to put it objectively, is just not true.

21. if you could, would you go on a romantic tv show? (the bachelor/ette, love island, 90 day fiancée, the dating game, etc.)

thanks to the charm offensive by alison cochrun, i actually think it would be more fun than past me would give that idea credit for!! the story’s a romance, yes, and dev & charlie do end up together thanks to them meeting on this show (even under special circumstances, bachelor + producer pairing and all) but i love that the author took the time to also focus on the female friendships that are formed as a result of these dating shows.

there’s moments throughout the book where these female contestants—who are supposed to be competing against each other for the chance to marry this one guy—are confiding or finding comfort in one another amongst all the drama. angie & daphne are one of the most significant examples of that in this story.

it’d be nice to get to experience something like that, especially knowing that for me personally, there’s a low chance of me actually falling for anyone romantically. but platonically? that’d make for a really memorable experience, free trips and all that.

23. most underrated form of intimacy?

i don’t know if this would count, but i think it’s really sweet to recommend a book to someone you care about or like in any significant way—a story that you can see them in, and also just think they might like. even if that person isn’t a reader, simply telling them about the book and/or a character who reminded you of them feels intimate in its own way because it shows that you think of them and know them enough to see parts of them in your life. that can mean the world depending on who that person is.

34. favorite place to go on a date? (platonic / romantic / queerplatonic / etc.)

it would be nice to go to the bookstore with someone!! picking out different books for each other and all that would be a lot of fun, make a nice challenge out of it.

maya from “yes no, maybe so” by becky albertalli & aisha saeed is a lesbian aro, and that is that.

if you would like to hear more of my thoughts on this headcanon (because i put way too much thought into everything), you can read more about it below!!

did this headcanon form out of the sheer idiocy that is these authors trying to convince me, the reader, that maya & jaime had any romantic chemistry? yes, and i’m still very bitter that they think i could be fooled into believing such a bland lie.

but the more time that’s passed since i read this book, the more sensible this headcanon feels because i just think maya might be someone who doesn’t care much for romance but finds a lot of comfort in her friendships, like me.

the lesbian headcanon is due to 1. maya seriously never considering any attraction for jaime, not even physically. when the whole internet and jaime himself says that she’s obviously attracted to him, she’s confused as hell and so was i. having her kiss him in IKEA when she “suddenly realized she was in love with him all along” was not the romantic scene that the authors were making it out to be and that’s basically it. maybe it’s just jaime, but maybe it could also be boys in general, and again, the more time that passes, the more i can see her being more attracted to girls than anything else.

there’s also 2. this small attachment that maya has to her old girl best friend who, in the book, she feels like is drifting away from her. i liked the idea that she may have had some form of alterous attraction for her, meaning that she did find comfort in the closeness that they shared that isn’t necessarily platonic but isn’t romantic either. also again, it just makes sense to me that maya would be attracted to girls, even if not romantically. like i find it could be significant enough that the lesbian label would be just as important for her character as the aromantic label is.

Arkham!Riddler SFW Alphabet

When I started this one I figured it would be easier since I can riddle as bi and ace and this is all non-sexual but my god was it difficult. It's hard to separate what i'd like from a partner like riddler from what this version of riddler would actually be like.  I've done my best but if you have anything you'd like to add, feel free to hmu!

LONG POST UNDER THE CUT

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

Edward can be affectionate in quite a superficial way. He’s not above using someone's affections for him to get what he wants out of them and he certainly isn't above feigning affection for the same reason. Although unless you were head over heels for him, his faux sincerity would be pretty obvious. 

However with a partner he actually likes i can imagine he’d be very affectionate with his actions more than his words. Riddler loves to talk but expressing actual love can be difficult for him, whether it’s romantic or platonic, saying how he feels about you is one of the few things that doesn't come easy. I can see him spending a lot of money on you as a gesture of affection; fancy food , clothes, first editions of your favorite books or vintage versions of whatever you collect. He’d quite happily pay for your education/college and any and all books you might want. 

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

Being a “best friend”  would probably be at your insistence and not his. He’s likely left any childhood friends behind (assuming he had any to begin with) and I think as an adult, Edward would have trouble making friends. Like most things, Edward treats friendship as just another tool in the bag, he can count the people he actually gives a shit about on 1 hand. 

If you were lucky (or unlucky depending on your view) to be considered one of those friends, expect lots of phone calls about bailing him out, riddles turning up in weird places ( like in the pocket of a coat you haven't worn in a while) and him helping you out with your cerebral challenges( like your quarterly tax return, no eddie i can't just NOT do it will you put down the rubix cube and help me)

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

He’ll never admit it, not even under pain of death, but Edward likes to be held. Now there's a few caveats to this; his rules and on his terms etc.  He likes to lie between your legs with his head on your chest, either facing you for a hug while he naps or away from you, using you like a pillow while he reads or tinkers with something.  He likes having his hair played with and his back gently stroked until he falls asleep.

He keeps up the facade of being totally touch adversed for good reason, the other rouges just do not respect personal space, even ones like killer croc and clayface. For the sake of his suits, he keeps this up even in private. But if you were someone special to him, you might convince him to toss his arm around your shoulder or waist.

When he’s doing well mentally, he’s pretty good at taking care of himself. Or at least, looking like he takes good care of himself. He can cook and clean a little but he has the cash to pay other people to do the more menial or time consuming stuff for him. Not that he’s above it, he just prefers to spend his time on other things and is happy to compensate people to save him from doing it. These days he's more focused on other things to be bothered with domestic chores, his place is very messy. 

Settling down is an alien concept to him, not one he’s eager to explore. Expect him to turn his nose up at the prospect of marriage but a platonic long term partner, someone for company, someone to act as a sounding board for ideas or even just someone to (gently but firmly) kick his ass into looking after himself would be pretty ideal.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

He’d probably be thinking long and hard about it beforehand. Like weeks if not months in advance. He’d want to give you the perfect breakup and, depending on what happened, try his best to part as friends. He doesn't deal well with sudden changes to his routine, particularly with no plans ahead. On the other hand he might just pussy out and ghost you. He’s fickle like that.

If it was your doing, well. Edward takes these sorts of things as a challenge. He might even assume you were joking the first time around. After he got the message, I sense he’d probably be quite clingy and upset. It’s taken a lot for him to get so far with you and he wouldn't let it go without a fight. He might try to change or at the very least , be better at hiding whatever it was that you want to break it off.

Failing that expect a lot of texts from blocked numbers almost but not quite begging or apologizing and asking for more chances.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

Like I said above, marriage isn't for him. I doubt he'd be compatible with a religious person given his childhood and outspoken atheism. He MIGHT if pressed, give you a question mark themed ring or token as a reminder that you were his. No papers, no ceremony, just something small. If you proposed expect him to be flustered and , if you can believe it, at a loss for words. He might go radio silent on you for a few days before giving you an answer but i honestly couldn't tell you what it might be. He does enjoy the thought of someone referring to him as “my husband” thought, so maybe persistent begging i'll get you somewhere. 

Some sort of Commitment appeals to him from a practical point; having someone to rely on, to fall back on and to care and be cared for by. It's not a normal relationship by any stretch of the imagination but it’ll be special all the same.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

Edward isn't an imposing man. He might be tall but he’s all sinus and no mass. He has gentle hands but can be careless when he’s in a mood ( with objects, never with you). He's broken a lot of plates, computer monitors and mechanical pencils over the years. He lacks a lot of social grace to treat things with the necessary amount of sensitivity sometimes, but he has the sense to at least TRY and be emotionally gentle. Situations of abuse or self worth issues, things he has personal experience dealing with are things he can easily empathise with .

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Short story, yes but only coming from a trusted partner. Long story is that he has a hard time not flinching when someone hugs him by surprise. You should ask before you do it. 

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

Edward is the kind of person to fall head over heels very quickly. He might say I love you before it's socially appropriate, it honestly might make you a little uncomfortable. But once that initial infatuation dies he's a lot more guarded with his feelings. He’d say i love you in a superficial way quickly but a genuine i love you with real emotion would take a lot of time and thought from him before he actually committed to it. 

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

If you look up jealousy in the dictionary, you'd see Edward's picture. Obviously he is a deeply insecure man, he’s terrified you’ll start to think of him the way he thinks of himself and seek out someone better. You need to nip any signs of jealousy in your relationship in the bud early on. Otherwise Edward will become controlling, manipulative and possessive to the point of alienating you from other people, simply for the sake of having you to himself. You need to set healthy boundaries while also doing your best to accommodate his need to be validated and his need for reassurance that you do in fact want to be with him. He gets snappy when he’s jealous, with you and other people. He has temper tantrums like a child if you don't agree with him. Like for example if he thinks someone was flirting with you and you tell him they were just being friendly. 

All that said, I genuinely don't think he does it for the sake of being a controlling partner. He is just so very afraid that someone he actually gives a shit about will leave him like everyone else in his life. 

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

I should point out that he doesn't kiss often. But when he does,He’s all over the damn place. What he lacks in experience he makes up for in enthusiasm. He is a very sloppy kisser when he gets into it but generally his kisses are very short and chaste. Like i said, he doesn't really know what he's doing so he's all over the place in terms of location. I think smooches on the cheek  because it's easy access, for him and you. He likes body worship, so if you're kissing him, anywhere will do as long as you're praising that part while you do it. 

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

Edward does not like children but he’s good pretending for the sake of his image. Childrens naturally inquisitive nature coupled with his bright and colourful appearance makes for some entertaining moments but in the long run I can see him worrying too much: about screwing the kid up, about being perceived like his father, about the child not meeting his expectations etc. 

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

He's more of a night owl tbh. If you're living with him he might wander into the kitchen while you're getting breakfast , wondering why you're up so late. You'd have to tell him he’s accidentally pulled another all nighter. He might have coffee with you and talk about what he was working on, maybe ask if he could have some breakfast with you. But by the time it's cooked he’ll have passed out on the sofa.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

Edward prefers to work and operate at night so expect him to be in a flurry of activity, building things, calling people and working at his computer. He likes to have company, even if you aren't doing much talking. It would be nice for him to just spend time with you while you both work on your respective projects. Sometimes he gets his shit together and lives during the day like most people ( read as, when he’s just been to prison and has an actual schedule for once) he would like to unwind with you by watching game shows or playing video games.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

Edward has a bad habit of gloating about his accomplishments but in a way that is so obviously false it unintentionally tells more about him than he really wanted to. Like in Arkham knight, he gloats about “not having any friends at all” in reference to his riddler bots when Catwoman teases him. He meant that as a snipe at catwoman but the fact he’s so open about his lack of friends, to most people anway, is incredibly sad. 

He’s a well known villain, if you didn't know most of his backstory before dating him it would be hard to miss once you were together. He’s unlikely to tell you it himself, having to repeat it time and time again in therapy has him perpetually bored of the subject .

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

He gets upset quite easily, he has very limited patience . He’s used to other people's cuts and jibes so he mostly lets that roll off his back with only a little annoyance. But for stupid people, and people outright insulting him, dismissing him or for acting like batman he is liable to start seeing red very quickly . In your relationship I would say he is easily irritated by a lot of things, generally a bit grumpy if things don't go his way but rarely as angry as we see him in the climax of Arkham knight. He doesn't yell or shout at you but he will seethe and let his anger fester for days at a time. He can be very mean when he’s angry. 

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

You would think for someone with a photographic memory, he would be better at remembering things about you. It's not to say he DOESN'T remember, only that he requires prompting to do so. Yes, he will remember everything about you but he puts it in the back of his head so he can focus on other things. Don't be surprised if he lets important dates slip by or does things at the last minute because something reminded him of it. 

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

It's probably something innocuous that you wouldn't think of, or even realise he was there for. Maybe he remembers meeting you in a coffee shop months or years before you met and started dating. He remembers because you held the door for him or gave him a genuine smile. You were something colourful in his gray day, something hard to forget. I doubt he tried to build a relationship out of that one moment but when he met you again he would remember that and decide that it was fate or something.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

Edward is protective in a strange way. He’s most powerful in situations where he controls everything , which isn't usually possible in real life as he's not a particularly strong man. He has more power in the digital world so that's where he feels most comfortable looking out for you. He might watch you on security cameras to make sure you get home safe, send you texts to check in or hide your profile from the police. You can be online together and in the public eye ( for him to brag about you to his online followers of course). To tie back in with his jealousy, he would be pretty protective initially but if you told him to back off, he’d be careful to do it more secretly. 

Edward needs to be protected in a lot of ways, mostly from himself. He’s not good at looking after himself, either physically, mentally or socially. His big mouth gets him into a lot of bother so he might need you to act as a social filter. He’s had several large breakdowns in the last few years and with arkham closed for good, he has no support besides you. He needs to be grounded and kept in the present lest he get wrapped up in his thoughts. 

 T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?) 

Honestly? He doesn't really try. He's very lucky in that he can pull something out of his ass last minute and it would still have a similar effect to if he’d spent the whole month planning. Someday it's going to blow up in his face big time but he doesn't seem to care.

Same goes for everyday tasks. He's usually so focused on his own stuff that he doesn't realise other things need done. He's a master of doing things at the last second and still making it look like he put in effort.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

He has a bad habit of underestimating people, even you. He might be inclined to patronise you when you try to do things for him but just showing him that you are a capable human being is usually enough to shut him up. He's very egocentric, narcissistic and conceited, but given everything he's been through, it's not really his fault he's like this. What is his doing is his refusal to work on his faults or try to grow as a person. Perhaps with the right encouragement you could help him but don't hold your breath. 

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

Normally yes, Edward is narcissistic and very concerned with his looks but recently, with his mental health declining, he's forgotten to take care of himself. I imagine when/if he snaps out of this funk he’ll be mortified by how he’s let himself go. He’s more concerned with how he looks socially, how he might be perceived and his reputation than what he physically looks like. 

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

Edward is and always has been convinced he was meant to be alone. He’s somewhat made his peace with that . there would always be a hole in his heart that he really thought nothing could ever fill. But meeting you? Well that changes things. Edward will never be a complete, well rounded person but having someone to kiss his wounds and pour their love into the cracks in his being is infinitely better than being alone. 

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

I mentioned in some of my mini headcanons for him that he used to do gymnastics as a kid. It wasn't so much that he wanted to or even enjoyed it all that much, in his highschool you just had to pick a sport and it was one of the only things that wasnt team related and had the lowest chance of being hit in the head with a ball, bat or racket. He was pretty good at it, even if he didnt like it that much , and probably could have taken home some bronze or silver awards in his state if his parents had encouraged him. Nowadays he can barely do a pullup but he's still got most of the flexibility, even if repeated breaks at the hands of batman have left him a little sore while he does it.

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

Edward doesn't like people appearing to be smarter than him. but his ego usually protects him from acknowledging that fact. he doesn't like bullies, despite being one himself . but his most hated trait in people is alcohol use/ dependency. If he knew you were an alcoholic he likely never would have started dating you but even the odd drink will make him turn his nose up. of course, hes a hypocrite , when hes feeling really sorry for himself he will definitely drink his sorrows away in whatever hole in the ground gotham rogues frequent. the self loathing is as strong as his hangover the next morning. he knows hes like his father, in more ways than one and it makes him sick. any mention of alcohol is likely to bring up these feelings

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)

Edward is a chronic insomniac but there is one thing that is guaranteed to send him right to the land of nod and that is having his hair played with and his back stroked. I don't know if it was one of the few kind touches he ever received as a child or if his parents did it when he was a baby but it's one of the few things that makes him feel truly safe and cared for. Riddler has spent the majority of his life alone, so finding a partner he trusts enough to allow them not only into his space but also his bed would be a difficult thing. If that's you, however, expect him to be badgering you every night to help him get to sleep.

- Dedicated to my Grandmother C., Z”L*, (*May her memory be a Blessing) 1926 ~ August, 2015 (passed near 89 years old) - Jewish, she also lived through the years of the Holocaust, (1941~1945) and her entire Jewish family got safely through those years. [Not long before WWII ended, she met my Grandpa.] My grandmother was one of my closest family members. When I was little (around 8 years old myself when first watching), she wholeheartedly supported my strong interest in Adventures/Digimon when I was first getting into this series, even if she didn’t know anything about it, (other than small bits I told her) even she could see how much I loved it. (Because she was one of my closest family members, she was also the one who overall learnt the most about my health. When I was, few years after discovering Adventure as a child, diagnosed Autistic and with generalized Anxiety disorder as well, she continued to support me all throughout, educated herself & our other interconnected family about my conditions, and continuously encouraged my interests and growth.)

Original Posters [Mine] commentary: I made this quick A.M.V edit a handful of days ago to this gorgeous song by Miyano, one of my favorite JPN voice actors/singers, {You may know him as: Dent[o] in JPN Pocket Monsters, Tamaki in Ouran, Rin in Free!, Tokiya in Utano*Prince-sama (where this song comes from), Konoha, Haruka & “Clearing Eyes” in Kage-Pro, among many more} mainly made with thoughts of general appreciation for this series in mind. I also made it with thoughts of my Grandmother in mind, who passed late August 2015, (yes, August). Tri had been announced, but wouldn’t yet air until November. I didn’t start much more actively blogging about Digimon until a bit later on, starting from a couple years later, because I was still heavily grieving. However, I still enjoyed reblogging Digimon posts I enjoyed to other blogs I had at the time even in the pre-Tri and early Tri years.

This was made very quickly, so it’s not perfect, has minimal editing, and the 1st Adventure portion is straight from the final battle with no editing done to it, but it fit the music well enough, so I included it as-is for now. I’ll probably re-arrange scenes if I remake it later and include much more other, varied scenes from Adventure, (for example, during end of Yamato’s portion, I was also thinking of the Yamato&Sora+Jou scene from the end of Dark Masters Arc).

(^One of my favorite Adventure scenes regardless of personal favs) But until I can edit those in, I’m just leaving this as it is. The middle portion with 02 is edited slightly more timed to music. A major Tri ending spoiler for the final battle’s result appears during the end. Kizuna is not included in here as of yet, but it may be in the future, along with Adventure 2020. All of this will probably be rearranged in a remake overall, but I’m keeping the general themeing & feel as-is for now, along with the Tri ending scenes.

Because this was made in appreciation of this series and out of respect to and with thoughts of my grandmother, please be respectful when interacting with this post. Thank you.

(24: Soulmate AU, 58: Accidental Eavesdropping)

Hanataro absently rubbed at the swirling mark around his lower left arm, still not used to the quiet thrum of another’s soul so close to his own. It had only recently appeared, indication that his soulmate was young, was a newborn soul, and that… that scared him.

(Him, soulmate to a newborn soul?)

(Did… did that mean he was a newborn soul as well?)

(But new souls were special!)

(He couldn’t be one…)

He bit his lip and used the spark of pain to shove aside his doubts; now wasn’t the time to sink into his thoughts. He needed to check on Kaito, needed to assure himself that their friendship wasn’t going to change because of this.

(He’d thought himself forever unmarked, thought it safe to fall in love with his best friend, thought that maybe Kaito was starting to reciprocate, and now…)

(Kaito had seen his soulmark and fled like the gates of hell were rising up to capture him.)

Hanataro paused at the door to the common room, hearing someone talking and wondering if he wanted to intrude; Kaito wouldn’t appreciate being cornered in public, and if he was busy then… then Hanataro could talk with him later. It wasn’t a big deal.

“Feeling any better?” Urahara’s voice filtered through the half-open door.

“Y-yes? No? I… don’t know,” Kaito answered sulkily. “I don’t know what to do…”

Urahara hummed and the breath caught in Hanataro’s throat. He was under no illusion that Urahara was unaware of his presence; his signature wasn’t loud but it certainly wasn’t hidden either. Kaito… Kaito would know too, except he sounded too twisted up to be entirely aware of everyone around him, especially since he tended to label Hanataro as safe.

“Well, you could talk with him about it,” Urahara suggested.

“But… but… how am I supposed to explain… any of this?”

“Well, you could start with putting his mind at ease. Unless you’re going to stay clothed at all times from now on?”

(Stay clothed…?)

(No, surely Urahara wasn’t implying…)

(Kaito was his soulmate?)

Kaito growled, the sound tinged with fear that made Hanataro’s heart clench, and said, “What, just… just walk up to him and say ‘I didn’t used to have a soulmate but then I touched something I shouldn’t have and now my soul is different so surprise! I think we’re soulmates now!’ That’ll certainly go over well!”

(Wait, what?)

“Well, why not? Did he seem bothered by it?” Urahara asked.

Silence stretched until Hanataro thought Kaito wouldn’t answer, until he thought he’d just walk in or slink away or… or something, anything to break the uncomfortable pause.

“I don’t know…” Kaito finally answered, voice barely loud enough for Hanataro to catch. “I… I couldn’t… I saw it and I just… what if he doesn’t like me like that! What if… what if he was happier without one?”

“Oh, Kaito-kun…” Movement came, likely Urahara pulling Kaito into a hug, and then Urahara said, “Soulmates don’t have to be romantic, no matter all the lore about them. They’re just your greatest love, and if that love is platonic it’s still love. Like Yoruichi, Tessai, and I. We’re not interested in anything physical with each other, but we’re still soulmates.”

“But...”

“Why don’t you ask him?” Urahara asked, then raised his voice and called out, “Right, Hanataro-kun?”

Hanataro twitched and slipped into the room, pausing at the sight of Kaito curled up in Urahara’s lap, looking more miserable than Hanataro had ever seen. “U-uhm... s-sorry f-for eavesdropping, Kaito-san...” he murmured as he stepped closer and sank into seiza right in front of the couch. “But, uhm... if... if Kaito-san is my soulmate, then... then I’m happy.”

Kaito blinked at him, then slowly, cautiously, reached out to grip Hanataro’s hand. The motion pushed his sleeve up, revealing the same swirling mark around his left arm and--

Hanataro leaned forward. Glanced up at Kaito for permission, then reached out to brush his fingers against Kaito’s mark, against the mark covering Kaito’s scar where his arm had been severed and oh, oh that made so much sense now that he saw it.

(Kaito’s old life had ended at that point, when his friend fell and everything changed for him.)

(What better place to mark this new change than there?)

“Kaito-san is my soulmate,” Hanataro breathed, barely able to believe how lucky he was but certain that he needed to show his appreciation. Kaito’s hesitance hurt, like he was sure that Hanataro would turn away from him because of this, but... but it was okay. They’d get through this and Hanataro would convince his friend that they were still okay.

A tiny, soft smile curled at the corners of Kaito’s mouth as he ducked his head, the tips of his ears turning red. “Y-yeah... “

“I’d w-want no one else,” Hanataro said with as much confidence as he could muster.

Kaito’s blush only deepened. “M-me neither.”

Hanataro smiled. Moved to lean against the couch. Tucked Kaito’s arm against his chest.

Settled in to bask in his newfound soulmate’s presence.

Five Questions for Writers

Thank you for the tag @tishinada! ^_^ Tagging @miss-spooky-eyes @jlsigman and @a-muirehen if you want! :)

1. Do you have a favorite character to write? Who and why?   Viri, of course. :) She is a bit of an alter ego and even when I'm playing her game character she will pop up with commentary in my head sometimes.   I also really love writing Viri with certain other characters because of their dynamic. I often try to find plausible places for Viri and Vette , or Viri and Somminick Timmns to talk because they bounce off each other really nicely and usually end up having a lot of funny back and forth. And I also really love getting Viri and Lana to talk to each other because they are so intimate and trust and love each other so much, it's very intense to write their scenes.

2. Do you have a favorite trope to write? Or one you want to write?   The two themes that spring to mind that I like to write a lot, and I don't know that they count as tropes, are 'angst with a happy ending' and 'enthusiastic consent.' For the first, my characters might be tossed around a lot but they will eventually find their way to shore and be happy. Lana and Viri get a happy ending. I don't know that I will be writing their ending (I can't imagine not writing about them) but they really do end up with happiness before they die. And then after they die they're together in the afterlife, reunited with their beloved friends, relatives and pets who went before them, and have a happy eternity. HAPPY, damn it.

In terms of enthusiastic consent it's important to me that Lana and Viri are shown loving each other, respecting each other's boundaries and being fully enthusiastic participants in any intimacy they have. They have safewords and use colors, and I've written scenes where one of them does say 'no' and isn't up to it, and that is fully and immediately respected without debate. They ask permission, they check in with each other, they talk and they work within each other's boundaries. Even though they have a Force bond and can communicate in their minds and feel each other's emotions, I also have it established that they don't go digging - they only see what is in the other's mind when it's actively being shared with them.   3. Share your favorite description you’ve written?

This one, from An Open Affinity. It's from the second cantina scene where Lana and Viri admit they have feelings for each other and hold hands. Lana and Viri's lines about warming up are from the game, and one of the reasons I realized that I could actually probably justify Viri's demisexuality as being canon, since this dialogue choice allows your character to have an attraction only after they have gotten to know and with Lana over time. ***

Lana inwardly shivers. Her name, in the Wrath’s voice, sounds like a kiss. Her eyes lock on the Wrath’s, and her stomach warms as she sees that they’re holding what appears to be a mixture of hope, longing…and complete uncertainty. And as Lana gently dips into the bond, she realizes, all at once, that the Wrath is just as terrified as she is.

She was brave. I will be, too. ”It’s mutual. I didn’t know if I should bring it up, but…I’ve missed you,” Lana says. Relief. Hope.

Lana doesn’t even realize she’s drawing close to the Wrath…no, Viri…until their hands are clasped. Electricity. Want. Need. She’s shaking, and Viri is, too. Neither of them can speak.  Lana looks at their joined hands, and something breaks within her. Viri’s Force signature is spinning more emotions than she can even count, and a thousand thoughts race through her own mind and soul.

I want it's too much too much too much I don’t understand yes no keep touching her but…

*** 4. Share your favorite dialogue you’ve written?   I love some of the Sith poetry I've written that Lana and Viri recite from time to time, like Viri's favorite verse, which is tattooed on her shoulder:  Shadow-born and strong, dreaming lucid.  You feel the sun and rise to victory.  Do not despair, little demon.  You are made to burn like the stars  And light your path in passion.     And these, written in the story by Lana:   - I will see you in the stars and feel you in the sun until we are us again. - I shall hold you until the dawn has risen, until the stars are alive in your eyes. Do not fear the shadows; they guide you to sanctuary.

Probably this too, from An Open Affinity, during a scene where Vette is comforting Viri after her separation from Lana after Yavin 4.

*** ”Yes or no question: if you had to do it again, knowing how it would turn out…would you still want to meet her, and let her know you liked her, and all the rest? Was it worth it?”

”Yes. When you put it that way, I would. She’s worth it.” Viri smiles slightly at Lana’s flickering hologram.

”Not everyone can stay forever,” Vette says quietly. “And even when they can, they might still have to leave for a while, before the ‘forever’ part. Maybe right now, all you can do is remember what you had, and how special it was, and look forward to it maybe returning one day.”

Viri begins to cry again.

”You have to stop this. Blazes, almost nothing makes you cry, but since we left Yavin, you seem to be making up for lost time. They’re going to take away your Wrath title, if you keep this up,” Vette says. “We’ll have to choose a new name for you. Sobbing Sith? Sith So Sorrowful? Darth Tearful? That one has a ring to it, don’t you think?”

”Stop it, Vette. You’re making me laugh.” Viri chuckles, even as more tears escape her eyes.

”Are your tears specially imbued with the Force? They can make someone melt, right? That’s your new attack strategy, you’ll cry on people!”

”Vette!” Viri throws a pillow at her.

“She’s hit me with the Pillow of Death. I’m down.” Vette pretends to keel over, putting one hand to her forehead. “I think you should carry that, instead of your lightsaber. Think of it, you could have just smacked Revan around with a pillow until he gave up.”

Viri bursts out laughing.

“That’s the Viri I know and love,” Vette smiles. “The one who laughs even when everything’s gone to hell in a handbasket. I know you’re hurting right now. But you’ll get  through this.”

5. Scene you haven’t written, but want to?   There are a few pieces I'm stalling on, and badly - I have a half-finished story about my dark ex-Jedi, Ror, and  @vespertine-legacy  's Zuvi. There's The Two, which is about platonic friendship about Viri and Suvia (Darth Nox) when they knew each other during their Wrath/Dark Council days. And I have some Viri and Lana pieces that are absolute smut, but half-completed. There's a very explicit scene that's probably going to be taken out of The Eternal Wrath and moved to its own fic because it's way above the story's current rating (Viri and Lana pay tribute to the Goddess of Love and Set & Vere on Naboo...).   There's also one smut piece I'm very proud of that follows the footprint laid out by An Open Affinity: Trust, which was about Lana and Viri's first time. It basically revisits the same setting but shows just how comfortable they are with each other, in every way. It’s not done.

Part of me worries I'm looking like a weirdo for posting so much smut about them, but on the other hand there aren't as many F/F fics on Ao3 as there are M/F and M/M, so I'm adding to that collection, so to speak. :) Outside of fanfic with the other writing I do (classified) don’t even get  me started. So. Much.

I feel like Byler, at least right now is WAY more popular than Mileven... how do you feel about this? I'm finding it harder to find Mileven content and most Bylers are very "hive-mind" and band together on Twitter/Tumblr... It's very annoying. What are your thoughts? I have 0 problem with the ship, most fans are delusional though.

Interesting question. I actually have some (one-sided, unrequited) Byler in my fic When He Was Special. That’s because I find canon Will Byers so utterly boring that I gave him a crush on Mike just to have something interesting to write about him.

With that said, mlm fiction has been one of the driving forces behind fanfic since the earliest days when Kirk/Spock fics were circulated in xeroxed fanzines. Check the Wikipedia entry on “Slash Fiction” and you’ll discover fans were doing mlm about Blake’s Seven and Starsky & Hutch (!) long, long ago.

Layer on the fact that most fanfic writers and readers are female, and that (some) women are drawn to gay male erotica in the same way that (some) men are drawn to lesbian porn videos, and the prevalence of Byler and Harringrove fics over Mileven isn’t terribly surprising.

What do I think of it? I think it’s all good. I’m pretty laid back about what other people like, think and do. I’m so busy I can barely manage my own life - I haven’t got the time or the inclination to manage someone else’s. If there are people out there who like to read about Will and Mike having the sweet, sweet love, all I can say is “you do you.”

Do I think Byler is canon? No. It’s pretty clear (to me) that Mike’s affection for Will is a platonic friendship. I think there is a reasonable chance Will is gay - we’ll probably find out one way or the other in ST4.

Do I read Byler fics? No. As a straight male, mlm doesn’t float my personal boat. I tend to read and write m/f, though I can certainly make time for *cough* a well-written wlw.

Who am I kidding? It doesn’t even have to be that well-written.

As for the lack of Mileven content - I’m doing what I can! I’m swamped with work but the next chapter of When He Was Special should be posting soon.

alright everyone. after my rush of emotions after that season, i’ve had time to decompress, and make an actually cohesive list of my thoughts about the season. as you could probably guess - MAJOR SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT!

first, let’s get the (much) shorter list out of the way. here’s what I enjoyed:

the acting. i want to mention how good millie was, because she was fantastic, but i almost feel like i shouldn’t, bc el took SO MUCH screen and plot time, that millie was given every opportunity to be good. she doesn’t really need any more special mention. otherwise - noah (with the little he was given) and sadie were particularly great. so were winona & david, but that goes without saying.

the elmax friendship. these two deserved it. and max bringing el out of her shell, showing her how to become her own person.... incredible. 10/10 i love them both

alexei. feels weird saying this, but he was probably the new addition I enjoyed watching the most. it would have been kind of cool to see him live past season 3.

an lgbt+ confirmed character. this one is a little.... tricky for me. as happy as I am that there is a queer woman written into the show... I feel like it’s a cop out to not have to confirm will’s sexuality. robin confirms her sexuality in less than a season, but after three with will, we still only get ~subtext~? still, this is a positive portion, so.... I guess that was something I was happy with

el moving in with the byers at the end. finally. this is one of the only things that is keeping me excited for s4. i guess i can only hope for there to FINALLY be some good willel interactions next season, but if this season has taught me anything, it’s not to get my hopes too high :-)

jancy ending s3 on a good note. parts of their storyline were fantastic, some were disappointing. but i really dug their dynamic, and the realistic struggle between the two of them, with nancy not really understanding jonathan’s class struggles, and jonathan not grasping the weight of the misogyny being thrown at nancy. their final moments at the empty byers house at the end were especially lovely.

el no longer being OP, and not being undefeatable. i love el. i really, genuinely do. i love her character, i love her traits, i lover her power. but the duffers were relying too heavily on her to constantly save the day with her powers, and it was happening too often. one of the faults of s2 was the constant thought of how easily el could’ve fought off all these threats if she was just there. i think it’s incredibly interesting to not only see her get completely worn out, but totally lose her powers. like mike said, i’m sure they’ll come back, but i want so badly for el to not just be defined by her powers.

a platonic m/f friendship. yes, one of them is confirmed queer, and they would’ve probably been romantically linked if she was straight. but i’ll take what i can get when it comes to this. platonic opposite sex relationships?? r i s e

now for the meat of my thoughts ~ what I didn’t like:

mike’s characterization. the writers completely made him into a dick this season. i get it, he’s a teenager, so he’s going to be an asshole sometimes. hell, in a recent post, I defended that, saying it’s good writing. but I underestimated just how awful he’d be, completely blowing off his friends for any chance for a second alone with el. I understand that he loves his girlfriend of course, but s1-2 mike loved his friends just as much. he was so utterly unlikable this season, that it seemed like he was a different character.

lucas as comic relief. this is so lazy, and i’m so angry for both the character and caleb, both of whom deserve so much better. he really had nothing to do if it wasn’t related to max, and the writers further reduced him down to a one-dimensional, kind of dumb, mediocre boyfriend, and that is not the highly intelligent, brave, kind lucas that i know and love.

will’s sidelining. god, this made absolutely no sense. noah fucking shined last season. he stole pretty much the entire thing. every critic, even those who disliked the season, had nothing but good things to say about his performance. furthermore, will has so much potential in so many different directions in so many aspects of his character. however, once he revealed to his friends that he was feeling the upside down/MF’s presence... they may as well have written out his character. he was sidelined almost to the point of background character. they gave him very little to do emotionally after that castle byers scene, and even fewer lines.

total lack of willel scenes. phew, if this wasn’t a bummer. will spoke a single line to el, and maybe one or two throwaway lines about her. if there is one thing most of the fans can agree on, it’s that will and el have the biggest connection to the upside down, the biggest unspoken connection, the most parallels, and the most intriguing potential relationship... and they really just said “fuck it” and didn’t have them interact at all. (that’s poor writing folks!) they better make up for this now that they’re living together.

amount of eleven scenes. i love her so dearly. i really do. and i’m so happy she grew into her own, not through mike or hopper. but the amount of el plot and screen time this season was actually difficult to watch. every other scene centered around her. so many characters and so much of the story went undeveloped, while she got way, way more than was necessary. additionally, take any kid’s plot (other than dustin), and guaranteed, it revolved around el. people were starting to catch on that the show was favoring her character more than even most shows’ mains.... and this season took it to a level i actual didn’t think it would.

the comedy. it was so awkwardly written. so much of it threw off the pace of the show. it seemed forced, and just... not very stranger things-esque, where the comedy was typically well-written and blended into dialogue.

the baddies. this was a huge letdown, too. i understand that the monster was large, but it was far less menacing to me than, say, the MF’s physical form. it had gore points, sure. it felt incredibly boring and predictable. in the same vein, i thought the ‘zombie’ style storyline of heather & co. would be deeper than that, but that was literally all it was. again... not interesting to me. billy was a rehash as well. the russians definitely had potential, but even that plot wound up being incredibly one-dimensional.

billy’s screentime. this was one of the things i was absolutely furious about. he got more screentime than the party (minus el) combined. they wanted for us so badly to empathize with him, to humanize him... i’m sorry, but you wrote a character that almost killed a boy for being black, that abuses his sister, and is a misogynistic asshole. abuse doesn’t excuse that, and it’s insulting to abuse survivors to say that billy inevitably became this way because of his dad, and that he deserves our uwus for it... and actually got el’s. he took screen time away from characters who desperately needed it, and that’s something i will never look at the duffers the same way for.

the scoops troop. I wanted to love erica... but i feel so indifferent to her. she was way too much this season. and robin. again, i love that she’s confirmed queer. and i dug her character more. but even then... i don’t know. i would have rather never had her introduced, and allowed established characters to have been better developed. and as a whole, the whole storyline of the troop was just what I feared: underwhelming and awkwardly placed.

high steve & robin. won’t elaborate on this too much, bc there’s not much to elaborate on. it just felt so wildly out of place and unnecessary.

that dustin/suzie number. what the hell was that? what could have been a 20 second joke was stretched out WAY too long and was bizarrely placed. just because you have an actor from broadway, doesn’t mean he needs to sing. and even if he does sing... you couldn’t have found a better time or situation? i literally was just staring at my screen in disbelief as that whole thing happened. entirely unneeded.

the amount of flashbacks. i understand most casual viewers wouldn’t remember certain things because of how long it’s been. but they literally put a recap at the beginning of the season. that’s what it’s for. and there were also plenty from like.... the episode before??? the amount they included took away so much time, that it almost just seemed like they didn’t have enough footage, and they had to fill their time stamp somehow. at some point, it just becomes insulting to the audience’s intelligence.

the overall tone. this season did not feel like stranger things in the slightest. off the top of my head, the castle byers scene and the byeler scene in mike’s garage were the exceptions. the first few episodes did have some moments. but overall... it kind of felt like some weird, high budget commercial or something. the charm, distinct aesthetic, and nuance of seasons 1 and 2 was non-existent.

the post-credit scene. there was some last-minute hype up in the reviews for this. was that supposed to be shocking in some way? i suppose this is more the fault of the reviewers who hyped it, but... really? a demodog? we’ve seen that before... i guess more the point was to show that the russians officially have some kind of technology for this. but still, an underwhelming reveal. more intriguing to me, was if hopper was the american in the cell he mentioned at the start of it. or maybe brenner?

the neutral:

that ending. on one hand, it was incredibly predictable. they literally placed an obvious shot of it in the trailer (easy to deduce that the byers had moved out, and that it was fall, so it was an epilogue scene). i was convinced that there would be a twist element they weren’t showing us, but nope. on the other hand, i thought some things were done beautifully (which wasn’t exactly a trend this season). as i mentioned, i loved the jancy moments. i really did like the hopper voiceover, although it was a little trope-y and heavy-handed... i still got a little emo, ngl. those goodbye hugs were somethin’. and, as i said before... el! moving in! with the byers! gimme

so uh... that’s it, i guess. no one really asked, but i needed to get my thoughts out. what did you guys think of the season?
