3. What fandoms do you write for? right now, just stranger things! I've been toying around with writing destiel again but if I did, it'd be anonymous. (after my entire portfolio was wiped from livejournal, I'm still in pain about it.)

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? yes! eventually! sometimes, it'll take me awhile because I just get backed up but I read them and smile and kick my feet, and even though it takes me a bit to reply, those comments are what keep me writing. <3

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? happy endings are guaranteed in this house, always. I'll never write an angsty ending-- canon hurts me enough. the most bittersweet ending though would have to be scar-crossed lovers. 

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? oooo, that's tough because they're all happy endings! but I think over the hills and far away because, by virtue of it being a long fic, the happy ending feels deserved. those two went through it to get to that ending which made it so satisfying to write!

8. Do you get hate on fics? I haven't, no, and I'm very grateful for that. but I'm also like, super liberal with the block function. we cultivate our spaces here, friends!

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I do, but only in the context of like, what else is happening in the fic. I just can't write pwp lmao, major kudos to everyone else who does it so well! I'm in awe of your talent perpetually.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I wrote a supernatural/charmed crossover au many, many years ago. but recently? kicks cracky supernatural/stranger things crossover au scrivener wip under the couch. nope.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship? steddie broke something in my brain, but destiel laid the path for it be broken to start with.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? liturgies & devotionals, unfortunately. or at least in its current existence in scrivener? it's a big undertaking but if I can make it less complicated, maybe it stands a chance.

16. What are your writing strengths? not once have I been able to answer this and feel comfortable with it, but I do really enjoy the omniscent third person point of view and have gotten compliments on it. and narrative writing, I like setting the scene and developing introspection.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? there are several but god, fucking dialogue! it's my kryptonite. that, and actually ending a story. context disease is so real.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? the only other language I've ever used is a snippet of Klingon, but I'd also feel comfortable using bits of French because I know a good bit of French. anything else would just feel super inauthentic because idk what the fuck I'm saying.

19. First fandom you wrote for? uh, it was around 2001 and it was for a fandom that I no longer associate with.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written? to the surprise of no one: over the hills and far away <333 so much of me is in that fic and it was hugely healing.

So if we're learning one thing here today, it's that I am highly indecisive. God, I love so many tropes. I think it'd be easier to ask which tropes I don't like, I guess?

But I definitely love a good slow-burn, a good friends-to-lovers or enemies-to-lovers or strangers-to-whatever-to-lovers with everyone suffering from being painfully in love. I guess I just very much love reading about them falling in love and being dumb about not noticing that it's mutual lol. Yeah I think that's it, something like mutual, very lovesick pining.

39. a trope you would like to see (more) in the fandom

Oh idk, I don't think I have enough of an overview to really say something I missing, but as a never-fully-recovered former emo kid I'd love to see some more of the stuff the MCR fandom had for example, like idk... vampires obviously, but also ghost stuff or like tragic angsty historical fics or idk. I guess just some dark stuff? For funsies lol.

41. How do you choose the fic you read

Firstly it's gotta be Wilmon-centric, then I look at the word count, and compare that to how much time I have lol, then I read the summary and idk? I guess either the writing style needs to catch me immediately or it needs to be some original premise. Or a retelling of one of my favorite scenes, that also catches me lol. So I guess I just base what I want to read on the summary. Oh, or a trusted mutual/friend recommends it!

46. did you stay awake up to an veeeery unreasonable hour to finish a fanfic

Yeeeeeeep, very much do that, probably too often. Sometimes my eyes will be falling shut, but I tell myself I gotta push through, there's only x chapters left lol

I used to draw for other small/rare ships (apparently I'm drawn to those kind of ships lol), only one of them got huge enough after they were given some time alone in the manga which got the ship more talented and known creators and amazing fan art.

Unfortunately it also got more hate on since it was a ship that "got in the way" of other huge popular ships and going through the tag got annoying bc the haters tagged every post shitting on the previously rare pairing, plus if you reblogged or made content for it they would harass you. I just blocked everyone sending me hate lmao.

Lots of people now hate Leon/Ashley but I think this increased hatred also shows how the haters can see that it is a thing now unlike before. They see it as a real threat. You can see the insecurity in some of those antis, it's too obvious and also just sad imo. I don't get why antis take shipping too seriously like they're not even having fun anymore and that's supposed to be the point, no?

Truth is I've seen so many Leon/Ashley fans online and even irl, Reddit for example loves it and Remake Ashley is a fan favorite now. A lot of them are more casual fans that maybe don't engage that deeply with fanon (which tbh is the smart thing to do).

Finally I have to say your blog and the amazing fic writers have inspired me to go back to drawing fan art and just creating content for Ashley/Leon or EagleOne. :)

Since this is my new otp and the only thing I love shipping rn I'm also just creating a new blog for that purpose. I'm not an amazing artist I'm just an amateur but I'll try to do something soon when I'm less busy. I'll absolutely tag it as EagleOne. Hopefully I can motivate others to do the same.

i know that the antis are coming from a place of insecurity, which is why their arguments are so disingenuous (i finally found the "the devs went out of their way to make sure that leon and ashley weren't seen as romantic" tweet and hoo boy the desperation is stinky) -- and that's also why i don't engage with them. as easy and perhaps fun as it would be to just QRT it and be like "oh it makes sense now, you're all using text to speech because you don't actually know how to read" there's no point in doing that.

i said it a while ago, but i want to say it again for good measure -- i don't want us to become them. my humble goal for eagleone fandom is to be a haven for ppl. we've been the black sheep of this fandom for so long, and aeons are still accusing us of being predators or someshit (idk i'm only semi-fluent in delusional) that i feel like we all have an obligation to stay humble now that capcom's given us a fairy tale version of RE4 where our ship is the front-and-center romance and people are finally actually being drawn to the ship. no one knows how bad this fandom can get better than eagleone folk, so it's on us to not do unto others what has been done unto us.

idk maybe that's just my whole jewish "because you were slaves in egypt..." mindset coming out but

i want us to be a place where people can just come and hang out and make friends over our shared love for resident evil. i know that i have serennedy and cleon and chreon and metaltango people all following me, and i love all of them dearly and i'm happy that we've all found each other. i feel like that's what fandom should be.

that's why i don't fight with aeons out in the open. i don't want to become them. i'll swing back if they ever come here (though i hope valuable lessons were learned the last time someone tried to come in here swinging and i took them out in exactly two responses LMAO), but i don't want to go out picking fights and i don't want any of y'all to do it either.

so it makes me feel really warm and fuzzy and happy to hear that i've inspired you in some way. i know that our little corner of the fandom over here on tumblr is small, and i know that i don't exactly have the kind of welcoming personality that will give me any sort of real platform in this fandom (at least, not like the one i had back in the day when i was a fake ass bitch LMAO), but to know that i've made at least a little difference is everything for me.

I just followed you recently and decided to look thru your ao3 account and your bookmarked fics and ended up reading that fic called "just to seal my fate". and it was soooo good. like the writing was great, it was funny, the story was cute, I just loved it. I was wondering if you had any recommendations for anything in a similar sort of style/vibe or a similar story? I haven't read any fanfic at all in quite a while and I'd forgotten how absolutely delightful it is.... nothing like rotating those characters around in your mind in silly little situations is there haha

ok so everything by the author of that fic — jalex_barakarth3012– is absolutely FANTASTIC and it all has that melancholic smoky dramatic vibe, which is something I really really like and strive to recreate in my writing (which you can probably tell if youve read Burn It Up All Night). I’ve recommended this to LITERALLY EVERYONE but my favorite fic in the whole entire universe is also by that author and it is called erode. erode has the same type of vibe and it’s extremely fucking long but the pacing is amazing and the storytelling is incredible and I adore it so, so much, I have left so many comments on it that I think the author probably despises me now lol. so basically if you haven’t yet please read everything by that author and give them ur support because they are so underrated and I love them so much. they have three other DELIGHTFUL fics and I never ever get tired of their writing. if it’s more ATL fic you’re looking for, unfortunately there isn’t too much with the same kind of writing style— believe me, I’ve looked. a large majority of ATL fic is smut and I have no problem w that it’s just nice to get a balance sometimes, yk? anyway the first author that I really love in the ATL fandom is probably bellawritess— or, on here, @clumsyclifford. she excels in tooth-rotting fluff and I believe she’s got 70 or so incredible oneshots in that fandom. she’s good at keeping a story feeling light and funny and in-character, and I basically lived off of her fics all of last year. also, she has friends who also have written fic in the same fandom, which is really nice. specifically, her cruel summer series is the most in the vibe you’re looking for.

ok, so if you want more vibes— idk what fandom you’re looking for but you’ve probably noticed im a big fan of the dark, melancholic, neon kind of vibe, with writing AND with reading. scarredsodeep (@shark-myths) and earlgreytea68 (@earlgreytea68) both write some of the BEST peterick out there if you’re in the fob fandom (I assume you probably are at least a little if ur on my blog). I adore their writing and they’re both also really huge inspirations for my writing style and YEAH, THEYRE JUST REALLY GOOD.

hmm ok I’m also gonna tag a couple of my other writer friends on this blog — @spirallingstarcases, @setting-in-a-honeymoon both write FANTASTIC fic and have their ao3 posted on their blog, I believe. they’re also super nice people and very cool and I’m very lucky to even get to know them slightly!!

For Killian, I don't think I even need to explain. Pictures are worth a thousand words.

(In a way, I do find Rumpelstiltskin's appearance great as well. But I couldn't describe it as "cool" more like... idk, elegant and to the point. Yes, even as a scaly man)

Everyone but me is wrong about Killian, always, ever. No-one understands him the way I do <3

No but seriously, considering how many people were SO wrong when analyzing his character, and how almost criminally out of character he is in AU fics (which I get it's kinda the point to change some stuff, but when you're making a brand new character without any similarities to the original and just name him "Killian Jones"... and that happens a SHIT TON in the fandom... yeah) or even CANON fics... I don't doubt I'm in a greatly small minority for my own views about him. Especially since I was actually surrounded by people whom I agreed with regarding to his writing in s7 (and we were already few in the wider Hook fandom, and also hated by most because how dare we enjoy a version of Hook growing as a character without Emma amirite) and then my opinion and their opinion about the ending differed completely to the point I felt I was alone in the world.

And yes, only my opinion is right. No I will not elaborate.

(For practical reasons, I am joking about the "right" thing. But Killian and Gold reconciling the way they did in the last few episodes was a betrayal to Killian's character and arc and I will fucking die on this hill)

Rumpelstiltskin had wasted potential because again I will die on the hill that he shouldn't have been turned into a "hero" character. They should've let him stay a morally gray character and fucking stick to it. Instead they had him jump from good guy to bad guy because the plot wanted him to be to then good guy again because Belle begged him to. I could kinda understand his relapse in the first part of s4 but it got tiring very quickly after that, and I think even Robert Carlyle got tired of that too. I've got to say that the episode "Lacey", though I have some thoughts about the flashback parts, was one of my favourite episodes of s2 simply because Gold went like "Fuck it" and beat that Keith or what is name was because he'd pissed him off (I mean, I don't condone beating, much less because the guy kissed the woman you love. But it was interesting storytelling). And then Lacey was into it and he kept going and like, this was who Gold just was. His dynamic with Belle was stunted because even if Gold wanted to do good, he was the kind of guy who got too easily corrupted by power and simply kept going after it and Belle kept going like "I can fix him". I'd rather a couple like Gold and Lacey, where they're not the villains of the story, but will help the "good guys" because of their ties to them and will absolutely go to distances the "good guys" won't. But anti-heroes was too much for A&E to handle and the fandom to accept, gotta woobify Rumple Bumple any way we can.

If they were real, either Hook or Gold, yeah I'd be terrified of them. I think we all would, and we understand that as much great characters as they make, they have killed in cold blood without any remorse, so. Blorbos they may be, and they're fun. But real life is different.

As I said, Killian is blorbo. It's been seven years that I've been a certified HookerTM and I still fall asleep making up fanfic with him in center. He'll probably be my biggest blorbo to ever blorbo.

The thing with Killian, as is connected to "didn't get enough screentime" is that he is indeed deeper than he looks, but that was only an issue of limited screentime. Us Hookers had to pick up the scraps the writers gave us and the PRECIOUS bits Colin was kind, talented and devoted enough to give us. In order to understand why he makes remarks about his appearance all the time, you have to notice the moments when he focuses on what he hates about himself; but if you skip that or just miss it, you think he's just self-centered like that. And the writing and limited screentime - by himself at least, not when he was under Emma's shadow - didn't help with that.

I've projected so much of my own shit on Killian. My self doubt, my imposter syndrome, my loneliness, some other issues that I'm not ready to share here... yeah, a lot. He's a good receptor for that, I gotta give him that :D

Done dirty by fans?? Killian and Rumpelstiltskin?? More likely than you think! From both sides too. Hook fans adoring the version of Killian who was uwu and pure and only existed for Emma's story, and hating on Rumpelstiltskin because he did bad things I guess. And for being a misogynist, apparently. And Rumpelstiltskin fans woobifying him and turning him into only a victim who had no choice in the evil things he did (and s5 did not help with the whole Dark One manifestation feeding you bad thoughts thing) and hating Hook for making sex jokes and being provocative I guess. And for being a misogynist, apparently.

So you've got two morally gray characters with excellent dynamic both on their own and ESPECIALLY together (the rivalry between the two was my TOP favourite dynamic on the show, way above Captain Swan and KnightRook... that is, until 7x18) with fans who victimize them and turn them into lovesick caricatures of themselves and the other bad guy is a misogynist!! Because that's the only way for a character to be proven bad!! MISOGYNY I TELL YOU!!

... The ouat fandom was an experience. Years will go by, fandoms will come and go, but it's the ouat fandom wank that will stay with me.

Probably explained above why Killian didn't get enough screentime. Technically, he did. From s3 onward, he appeared in every single episode, had his fair share of centric episodes, but when so little of his screentime is focused on him as a character and most of it being the writers trying to pacify the haters and prove that he's not the monster they're making him out to be, everything falls apart. That was a big problem with ouat, in general. I feel it was mostly in s7 where that was dropped, where the writers simply said fuck it and didn't care to pander to audiences anymore and just wrote what they wanted to write. Grand example, the Ruby x Dorothy ship that came out of nowhere to placate the people who were asking for LGBTQ+ representation. Then in s7, they wrote Curious Archer and it just fit in so naturally into the story and theme because they weren't pressuring themselves. And so, considering they were constantly trying to prove Killian's honor and maturity in regards to his relationship to Emma, so much of his screentime was wasted when it could have been used more appropriately. Like, the crumbs I talked about above? Make them a whole package, and that would prove the point they wanted to make anyway. But A&E were too proud in their own abilities as writers to even consider that, I guess.

Gold was a horrible person and you can fight me on that. He was an interesting character that I loved seeing on my screen... at least until his characterization took the plunge. But he was a clear example of a bullied, humiliated victim who, once he took a position of power immediately began abusing it and holding onto it for dear life. People kept mentioning how he stopped the Ogre Wars but a) that wasn't important enough to his narrative to show on screen and that says something and b) he used it as an excuse to be an asshole and to keep abusing his power, so it doesn't help? Upon losing Baelfire, his one goal became to go find him - but only as long as he kept his power. The seer confirmed he will meet him again, so he waited as long as it took - literal centuries because he wanted to find the way that would ensure he'd have both his son and his power. That power being the very thing he lost his son for, by the way. If that isn't a sign about how weird his priorities were, Idk what else to tell you man.

Yes I am mentally ill about Killian, if my seven plus years of stanning that developed into a love for Colin that I have paid real money to see from up close didn't clue any of you in XD

I circled the "part of a dynamic" one cause as I said, for almost the entire duration of the show, the rivalry between Gold and Hook was my top favourite dynamic. Sadly I didn't get that much, and I got grossly disappointed by the end, but what little I got (minus the ending, yes I am still bitter) I loved and I treasure.

Gold got too much screentime in the manner of the whole ping-pong he did between "hero" and "villain". I mean, it wasn't like they would dare sideline Robert Carlyle, but he got too many and repeated arcs that it got tiring even for me, who enjoyed his presence on my screen. If he had gotten a bit less of it, or a bit more balanced between all characters (same for Emma and Regina, they both suffered from repeated storylines and development arcs), I think they could have handled his gray morality better.

I know this is probably annoying. Great start right. But I just want to say, I read one of your very old stories (the untold avatar one) like once a year. Idk why, I only ever shipped that a little, yet the way you wrote the characters was so dramatic, fun and full of banter that it's one of the stories I haven't gotten out of my head since 2019 when I first read it. I'm not expecting a continuation btw, I'm an author myself and I know how you can lose the passion for a story people deeply love or just don't have the means to write it anymore emotionally speaking. But I just want you to know that whenever I think of that fandom, I specifically think of your fic. And I want to you to know the impact your stories have on people. You're a great author. And I'm sure in the years that passed you have become even better at your craft. You have a real talent at storytelling and especially at building character arcs. And you probably don't hear that enough.

I really needed to hear this today.

This isn't annoying in any capacity at all, but instead very refreshing to hear. I gotta preface this with saying that Legends of Avatar: the Untold Story, is a very dear fic to me that I do plan to return to eventually. Not anytime soon, but ATLA's fanbase is timeless and I believe I can return to it whenever. But Taang has always been a special ship to me and so has Legend of Korra's lore and world building, and bridging the two quasi fandoms as a semi canon compliance/divergence fic mixed with a pre-canon timeline was a great challenge.

But in all honesty? That fic was a blast to write. As you say, the characters gave me so much to work with in the lens I wanted and I was warmed to see it was well received. Knowing I was working with an angle perceived as borderline crazy in shaking up canon, but still adhering to a strange set of consistencies was entertaining as I saw people slowly find intrigue. It worked.

Here's a crazy fun fact for all you new followers/readers of mine: all the shit I'm writing right now? Would not be possible if it weren't for Legends of Avatar: the Untold Story. It's why the stories I make today are thought out, thorough, but most of all, as true to character as I can work with. Putting my all into that story taught me that there is a payoff to dedication and practice. I was still an amateur then, but even I look back at that story and occasionally find myself gobsmacked with my prose.

"Wow, I wrote that? Me? Amazing!"

I don't think I'd edit anything aside from grammar mistakes when I do return, but I'm still proud of it. I still have notes and the whole plot laid out, so it's not like I don't know where it'll go. I still have the next chapter WIP set up and already begun. I've reworked it many times, but it's there!

And you, Anon?

You're the reason why I write these stories. I used to grow up reading fanfics, and to this day, I still stay up reading them. But I always had that feeling you describe, the one where when I think of a fandom there's just one fic, fanart, cosplayer, who just comes to mind. I never thought: "Wow, I wanna be that person!" But I always thought,

"I wanna make others feel things with stories the way they made me feel."

Occasional praise like yours is all I need sometimes, because it's a good reminder that though I have progressed as a writer, I still did touch people with my stories even then. Thanks, Anon. And I'm glad I managed to impact you and others, in ways like this.

where did this misconception come from that cc!wilbur is a control freak dm that doesn’t listen to the roleplayers

ive seen so many people pass around a list of “reasons why cc!wilbur is a bad writer” but half of those aren’t even really applicable???

first of all, cc!wilbur was basically absent for season 2. he was not a head writer for season 2. i cannot stress this enough that cc!wilbur was not nearly as involved in the writing process as he was in season 1. stop coming from this angle, it’s literally not true

“cc!wilbur forced adult ages onto c!tommy and c!tubbo’s characters” literally when. all he said was that when writing it was what he had in mind. as of canon they’re still teenagers so why does this matter. honestly i don’t really blame him since no one will shut up about how his character “forced them to be child soldiers”

“cc!niki didn’t know about the festival and was left out of the loop” yeah, i really mean it when i say what happened to cc!niki was bad and unprofessional. it’s unfortunate that their communication wasn’t as great as it could’ve been, especially considering cc!wilbur wasn’t informed about the festival either

So RK was the one who actually reached out to me one day after I reblogged one of her posts. I remember being so terrified too 😂. I kept thinking "who is this person and why are they dming me?" She is also the one who invited me to join the levihan drabbles server. I honestly cannot thank her enough for it. I have made so many new friends and it has been such a blast. I enjoy talking to her about levihan or random topics in general like filo stuff or other fandoms. She also binded a few of my fics and the book is currently sitting in on my shelf in my room. I'm amazed that I have the actual thing in person and not on my phone lol.

Ahhh one of Ate RK's famous fics. I'm gonna be honest, I was kinda lost with the skydiving parts (never have been, never will. I am afraid of heights and falling) but RK writes it well enough for me to picture what is going on. Oh and let me rant a bit. Hange and Levi kinda pissed me off. Yeah they get their redemptions and the 104 helping Levi's tea shop was the best, but omg I was so mad about the angsty part. Overall, it is a really good fic and the smut is mngh (is this the right word? Idk I see it used in the server tho lol). I loved the blonde squad tho. THEY WERE THE BEST!!!

who are your favorite fic authors and what fic have you written that you're most proud of?

oooh! This might be long. I'll do a few from the last few fandoms I've been active in for funzies.

Well, @pynkhues always and forever. She's one of the best writers I've ever read, period. It helps she writes for a living probably (her book, The Rabbits, is out now go buy it go go go). I was introduced to her via the Good Girls fandom and one my fave fics of hers that I have read probably 3 or 4 times is Cross your Fingers. She's an incredibly detailed writer who really understands the importance of setting and well-thought out character analysis. She is not a slacker lol She's such a gifted writer and I'm in awe of what she gives fandom for free. She's also a sweetheart and just a lovely human being over all. I adore her.

In the Lovecraft Country fandom, particularly the RubyxChristina ship, Leave It To the Davenports by @bandydear is the standout for me. It's one of the most creative, incredible, fantastic, magical, and sexy things I've ever read and it makes me sad that it isn't completed, but it is still incredible where it stands.

More recently, for the Hacks fandom, oh god, there are SO. MANY talented writers in this fandom.

@electric-eccentricity is...look, she knows this, but she's top three faves, easy. She's SUCH a sharp, funny writer and is just so fucking good at dialogue and characterization that it makes me feel violent. She's only written two Hacks fics but they're THAT fucking good.

@sapphicscholar hit the ground fucking running. Her most recent fic is an AU where Deborah is a judge in an America's Got Talent type show and Ava is a reluctant contestant, and it's AMAZING. It's funny, creative, and super sexy. Everything she writes is a hit. Makes my day every time she updates.

@skatehepburn is the baddest bitch. When she delivers, she DELIVERS. I've read let's build ourselves a fire like 8 fucking times. Ava and Deborah in a cabin during a snow storm, they bring the dogs. I'ts. Sigh. It's everything. It's so fucking good. She's so fucking good. Literally any story of hers you read you will love. So funny, so sweet and tender, and also hot AF. I can't say enough nice things. Just go read her stuff.

I'm going to do ONE MORE Hacks writer but trust me there are so many more. @ludling 's Ms Vance Buys the Flowers Herself is so good it makes me want to cry. The build-up is so delicious, and her handle on Deborah's voice is so fucking impressive. I personally find it very difficult to write from her POV so I'm blown away by this particular fic. It's fucking hilarious, it's perfectly angsty where it needs to be. The balance is perfection. (and the sex is hot af)

And IDK what fic I'm most proud of, anon! But i'm fairly happy with how no one ever called me smooth came out despite me being so fucking lazy at editing :) I also really love a Lovecraft Country fic I started called Lilac Wine that I hope to finish one day.

Okay so for the Loki fandom, I get the vibe a LOT of you are LGBT+, so many people have been raving about Loki being a confirmed bisexual and as much as I can’t stand this man (I’m sorry!!) I’m honestly here for it. We love to see the rep. I also saw lots of people raving about him being a confirmed hero, so, I guess that’s cool too? Yay?

I feel like this fandom can be a little defensive, which is highkey terrifying, but I suppose we all have our faves. But i want yall to drink some water and…idk play with chalk for an hour from time to time.

Phoebe is a queen and I love her with every fibre to my being, I feel like she is an underappreciated icon and deserves more attention. Bestie I have absolutely NO idea what this show is about but I LOVE their fashion sense, I feel like that’s a really big people pleaser amongst the fandom. A lot of the characters seem to have deep trauma from what I’ve seen, and I think that might resonate with a lot of its fans (lmao ‘cause same), alongside the fact it seems under appreciated and accepted in its time. The dark and eerie mystery settings give off a thriller fandom vibe, and I’m honestly intrigued. I legit want to watch this show. You’ve got me hooked.

Ahh last but certainly not least. I’m not going to touch upon the Hamilton fandom because my opinion in that regard is well known enough as it is, but for the amrev fandom, I can say 10000%, we are all absolutely fucking ridiculous (affectionately).

I mean, you have your factual posters like Amanda, Julia, Elle, Byrd, Sarah, Sev, and I (from time to time), alongside this you have your slightly loopy but absolutely loveable fanfic writers/artists like Ink, Hannah, Polly, Ray, Tori, Clair, Sofia, Rose, and Lin. We’re all quite vibey, a little crazy and very homosexual, but yknow, we get by.

*sigh* but then I bring thee down to….the shitposters who actually terrify me and deserve exorcisms; Kit, Lisa, Hayhay, every Alex ever, Su, Mellisa Tracyn, Jon, honestly this list is just endless here. Yall scare me and I’m actually in awe of that fact. We’re a very diverse fandom, as you can tell. You guys NEVER know what this bunch will come up with, they’re a ticking time bomb and it’s great, they keep us on our toes. Love you guys.

Writers blues under the cut

Recently I've been thinking I may be on my last days of writing/posting fan fiction. It's been getting really hard to be motivated, and I've never had a writing funk that's been this bad/lasted this long before.

It's funny, cause I'm still writing a lot. In fact I just finished a 26k GO fic that I worked on in 10 days. I do enjoy writing, I still have so many ideas, and I still often get inspired by imagining my loves Aziraphale and Crowley in so many different situations and building stories out of them. It's just when I finish them that's the problem. I haven't been posting most of my stuff on ao3 lately because of it. "It" being a mixture of so many things: 1) a major case of imposter syndrome (they're bound to figure out im a terrible writer eventually), 2) general anxiety that people won't like it, 3) more specific anxiety that i've done something wrong (again), etc.

I won't pretend that the incident from last August didn't have anything to do with this. And while I'm super super glad to have received a lot of support during that time, I just haven't been the same since then. I haven't recovered, even tho I really really tried. Because people encouraged me to keep writing. Because I wanted to keep writing. Because people said I still have great stories to tell. I'd published Glassblowing since then, but I wrote that even way before I'd written Perpetual Estrangement, so the fun sexy vibes you saw in Glassblowing is just a ghost presence of how I was before when I still knew how to have fun with my writing. I can't imagine being able to ever write something like that again. I haven't even tried writing any smut in 2 months now, even for my private projects.

Now every time I post something I don't have the heart to look at the comments anymore. To be honest it's been super super stressful. Even though people are so nice to me. And people are still reading. I'm still fucking terrified every time I receive an ao3 notif that it's gonna be another round of people screaming at me for having done something wrong. Even if people have been very sweet and nice to me in the comments, sometimes my brain catches on something and immediately twists their words into something bad. I've had SEVERAL cases where I got upset over a comment that I thought was critiquing my fic only to be told by other writer friends that I misunderstood it cause it was actually something nice. And I hate myself for assuming ill intent on people who just wanted to leave a comment.

I was never that good at replying to comments, but I usually was able to reply to most of them. Now I can't even do that anymore. I can't even express myself in author's notes anymore because I just don't absolutely do NOT want to be perceived by anyone anymore. And it SUCKS because my wish to be invisible and to just disappear from the face of this fandom is directly in conflict with how inspired I still am by Crowley and Aziraphale and my want to get my stories out there.

All I ever wanted is to just make people happy with my fics, idk why Im making it so hard on myself. Even just writing this post on a public tumblr blog is making me feel pompous because who even cares, yknow? It's not like I was ever a BNF or anything. And while I do appreciate my consistent readers who are all so very nice to me, I know I'm definitely more of a "the author who writes a lot of okayish-to-good quality fics" as opposed to "the author who's BRILLIANT and is MY FAVORITE", and this is really just me drawing attention on myself when I really shouldn't, since people care less about that anyway.

I wish I can be like other authors who just brush off the stuff they don't want to see. I'm lucky enough to be friends with so many talented GO fic writers and my problems are so petty compared to theirs, but the way they deal with all the toughness of writing for such a big and varied fandom is just so admirable. I tried to do it. I tried to not care and keep writing/posting anyway. But it hasn't been getting any better. The only thing that makes me happy right now are the fics themselves, because I try to write uplifting stories that mean a lot to me, that call back to a certain period in my life (Half of Me being the most personal story to me so far), but sharing my work just isn't fun for me anymore. It's distorting my head and ruining my relationship with my writing, as well as turning me into this paranoid monster who assumes the worst in some readers. And I'm just really sorry because I feel like an absolute failure.

So that's the gist of where i kinda am right now. My ao3 will probably still be active for a few more weeks, mostly cause I already made commitments for christmas-themed gift exchanges and I don't want to turn my back on my giftees. Beyond that, though, I don't really know. And anyway, GO is so fortunate to have such a wide breadth of talented writers and I know I definitely enjoy being a fic reader much more than being a writer. I won't really be much of a loss.

yeah i don't interact with fandoms i never really have, so i get how easy it is to lose interest in it. but with bts it's easy i can go and rewatch and remind myself why i loved them in the first place. (besides music their personalities are>>) and the only fics i ever read or actively waited or looked for were yours. but i also don't like consume content like i used to so i feel like maybe i've grown. but someone way older than me told me that as people get older they don't just lose "interest" life would be boring and sad usually it's switched to something else or depression acting up, and i had a theyre right moment (the were 50, and used a bunch of different things, actors, movies, video games (theirs), shows, anime, even binging netflix, knitting, they said the gym too, basically everyone has a something that they focus on or interested in, in some way and that it's okay. not to be pathetic but i broke down and was crying about how nothing interests me and i can't find new ones either (and it had been a year for me too) but maybe that's what's being a grown up and what it's like. and they were like sweetie no. *rant* and i was like oh they're right) there was more to it. but yeah lmao

i'm glad you realized the love you still have for that little cat man<3 i hope you always have love for something or someone no matter how crazy or sad or numb or happy or exciting life gets for you! yeah! sometimes a frog video post or something pops up and i'm like "didn't zee once like frogs?? i wonder if she'd like /this/ frog" all i remember now was a frog that was living its best life!

well if you're writing again that's good for you! (you were always a writer, personally i think if you can world build and actually get it into words you get to claim your a writer) it takes talent! no matter how long it takes. i've sent asks of wishing you well before but it's been awhile, but i still always wished you the best and hope you're doing alright/taking care of yourself!

YEAHHHH like what i mean by interact with fandom culture, it's more like "consuming" fandom culture, yenno? like reading fics, looking at art, etc. so with bangtan, i don't really do much of that anymore, but i do still watch their videos and sorta keep up with their schedules and stuff, which is all fine and dandy but GOD i miss being obsessed ig??? maybe that's just my adhd talking but somehow i've forgotten how to enjoy media a normal amount instead of being unhealthily fixated HAHAHAH

and what that person said is true!! unless you're like, going thru something, people don't totally lose interest in everything - often times, they just move on to the next thing. and that's exactly what's happening to me tbh!! lately i've been really deep into this other fandom (cough) and i know that's the main reason i've lost interest in bangtan :-( but yeah!! we grow and we go as i like to say,,,

but i'll always like bangtan!! which is why i'm still adamant to write some fics for them, but just not with the same excitement as before. it's like... dialing down from a 100% to a 80%, yenno? mayhaps i'll write froggie!yoongi because i'm insane... who knows...
