Phantom, the new addition to Young Justice, just accidentally made Impulse cry.
Whoops.
Impulse had been talking about a candy that had been in the future, that he missed a lot, that had no equivalent in modern times.
So the next time Danny was in the Zone, he asked Clockwork if he could reach into the future and grab a bar. Clockwork just told him that the timeline he was talking about was dead, but that the people from it were occupying the Zone if he skipped forward in time a bit; maybe one of them knows how to do a homemade version?
So he does that, with the help of Clockwork, and manages to find someone from that doomed and dead timeline that knows how to make a homemade equivalent.
He returns to the world of the living and recreates it, and Impulse is beyond ecstatic for both the food and the recipe.
Then he asks where Danny found this.
Danny, mostly human but having been something other for so long that the concept of 'Death' doesn't hit him the same way, cheerfully says he sought the dead souls of the future that had been dissolved and asked.
Now everyone is glaring at him and Impulse can't stop crying.
Shit.

And so, she’d go on and destroy it with a simple word. She’d kick his soul with her boot, crashing the pillars of his secluded insecurity and trust– or whatever he had grown for her.
Not that it mattered anymore. For in the end it was his fault. He opened the window of opportunity, he let her in, he let himself go and feel.
Moreover, he’d then proceed to tell her; of himself, of his dreams and fears– because he really believed…he believed that…
Ah… It held no significance anymore anyways. He’d either die, or he’d kill her. And him, Cazador.
Suspended in the air, Astarion fought the flaming force around his wrists to no avail. The magic was too strong, sending sharp jolts of pain through his body at even the faintest of attempts to escape.
Blood pumped through his veins as her words echoed in his mind again.
She’d say “Why?” and finish with “What for?”.
Astarion laughed bitterly, oxygen caught in the throat. He could taste copper.
Why?
WHY?
He should have anticipated it– right from the beginning. Right from the start, he should’ve known. He should have known. Why didn’t he know?
Had he been blinded?
Astarion could remember the day they met almost perfectly. Their tadpoles would connect and he would see it; the emptiness. The nothingness. The hollow of darkness that succumbed her soul.
And yet he’d brush it off.
Why? Why would he brush it off? How could he ignore it?
Protection.
If he could scoff, he would. Of course. It would all come back down to him. He was so desperate to feel protected, so desperate to escape this life, this disgusting actuality of the Universe, that he’d jump at the first opportunity head on– all just to get away.
And protection she’d offer…
Up until now.
Maybe it was just time to give up. Maybe, just maybe, he was always heading up to this. Maybe it was set in stone– his timeline. His existence.
Maybe he was being punished for who he had once been in another life. Maybe this was the Gods telling him that he deserved it. All of it– the pain, the loneliness, the torture.
At least he had seen what happiness could look like. Warmth and comfort. He had felt it. Even if it was all just a façade.
Still.
Better than nothing.
Astarion breathed deeply as Hell surged through his body. His eyes squeezed shut– he cried.
For he still loved her.
Her eyes.
Her lips.
Her smile.
The echo of her laughter.
The tears on her cheeks.
Her hair.
Her touch.
Her kisses.
The whole of her being.
Just a lie…
Her arms wrapped around his body.
Just a lie…
Her body under the glow of the Moon.
Just a lie…
Her voice as she called his name.
Just a lie…
And yet he hated her just as much.

actually i feel like frontiers has The Horrors in it in a way no other sonic game really has before it. maybe sa2 and shth come close to it but the vibe in both is very drastically different.
im talking about an ancient civilization that got wiped out by a force so powerful it's difficult to grasp. we get to witness the little that remains and assume that must be it, that all there is anymore are stones piled into towers and architecture ravaged by nature, before discovering it's all still here. and alive. and growing and leaking out of its containment to show everyone The Horrors they lived through. and it's not presented through different POVs like in sa1, and they don't hold back on any of it. four children get to witness the destruction of the people who came here before them right in front of their eyes, with the souls they spend time bonding with and treating like their equals.
and im talking about the destruction of the body and the way everyone but sonic is ripped out of their physical existences and into cyberspace where the relentless corruption of faulty code can begin to consume them alive. they lose their abilities to interact with the world in the ways they were used to and effectively become ghosts, echoes of themselves, and the only way to bring them back requires one kid to destroy his own body in exchange. and he has to slowly experience The Horrors of burning his own self alive, because what else is he supposed to do? he's supposed to be the hero and do the right thing, and this is the only thing he knows to do. and he will throw himself against enemies rivaling the power of the gods he's fought before, and he will take as many hits as it takes, and he will face his own mortality and fragility over and over again while his own self is dying
and even more so im talking about the very concept of death that haunts the islands and that sonic has to fight in the end, because he will not accept the end of the world. because he is not the kind of hero he wants to be, the personification of morals and accepting that things are going to end one day, when it's about whether his friends get to experience another tomorrow or not. whichever ending you play he will face off against a calculating force that has decided that this world needs to be destroyed, that it's about time it did. and sonic fights back because for fucking once he doesn't want to let go. he has let go so many times before, when he first visited ARK and in a timeline that no longer exists and after defeating the very concept of darkness and negativity. and should you go for the original ending, he let go of his friends, here and now. he has been through The Horrors and he's had enough and will not let himself be consumed by them, because he will make sure there is another sunrise and another tomorrow and that his brother and childhood friend and rival can all go and live the lives they want to have, and have been dreaming of this whole time
i know it's a pegi 7 baby game with poor execution and rushed things in many places. but i love the subtle terror under the hood i am obsessed with it

Bec would still intercede.
It's true that in this doomed timeline, the meteor doesn't 'have' to be repelled - but Bec still loves Jade, and has no reason not to save her.
This Jade would have no Cruxtruder, so Bec couldn't destroy the meteor with a sprite laser. Freed from the temporal obligation to shatter it, he could simply use his native powers to shrink it, or teleport it away.
Jade should have survived, but the Derse kids never heard from her.
Tumblr media
In fact, they never heard from anyone.
No gloating from Doomed Terezi, no flirting from Doomed Kanaya, and not even a single swear word from Doomed Karkat. Plus, even if Bec was asleep at the wheel, and Jade did get killed by the meteor, there was nothing stopping her from seeking advice while it was slowly descending. She had hours!
The only explanation I can think of is that a doomed Incipisphere is completely isolated from the wider universe. This isolation could even extend to Dream Self connections, preventing Doomed Jade from contacting her friends through her Prospitian body.
Come to think of it... if a doomed session can't access the outer world, then there doesn't actually need to be an outer world. Doomed timelines don't need to contain an entire Doomed Multiverse - all they really need is the subsection of reality that spawned them. One little bubble, ready to pop.
In other words, there might not have been a Doomed Jade - but that's just a theory. Either way, she never contacted the session, so we can only speculate as to her activities before the timeline completely collapsed.
Like I said, I'm sure she survived her meteor, but there's not much she can really do on Earth. I guess she could try and start another session, but I don't think she knows another living soul, and I don't know how a hypothetical single-player session would work. Besides, as I said earlier, it seems like doomed timelines are isolated from other realities. She might not be able to enter a Medium.
Even if she could get Bec to teleport her off the island, she has nowhere to go - removing her meteor didn't stop the apocalypse. It just slowed it down a little.
Her island seems fairly self-sufficient, and with Bec's protection she should have no trouble surviving on the dying Earth. She'd just sit on her island for several months, alone, until her timeline abruptly collapses - if she didn't blink out of existence as soon as John entered his Seventh Gate.
Man, this is just sad. Probably a good thing that the comic didn't dwell on it.

Hello yuri, first time anon here 👋👋.
Love your works. They converted me into an aceyuu stan lol. But also consider:
Aceyuu to "Rewrite the stars" from the greatest showman.
It could be the time loop au, soul bond au, or just regular au. It could just be in the song's regular pov (Yuu having their hands tied by going home and not wanting to break Ace's heart or Ace literally defying and turning back time to keep Yuu alive despite the prefect's inevitable death) .
but imagine the singers could also be swapped (like Yuu being the first voice that says their love could work, and Ace being hesitant to outright act on his feelings (and still failing)).
I've just been fed this vision of a brainrot for the past 3 days and I don't know what to do with it XDD.
Lots of love and stay hydrated 💞.
|˶˙ᵕ˙ )ノ゙ hello annon nice to have you here. I would apologize for inflicting aceyuu brain rot upon ye but I would not have received this ask and I happen to rather like your idea. There are so many good songs for aceyuu and this one is an easy add to the list. Given how the stars are literally able to grant wishes and astrology is very real it's especially fitting! Yuu's stars spell out a grim fate indeed, it would be an impossible task to rewrite them alone. Lucky they don't need to do that ¬‿¬
Now let's see...
Tumblr media
Honestly, both povs suit both Ace and Yuu, especially in the time loop au. I can easily see Yuu pleading with him to accept their fate, not because they don't want to be with him but because they can't stand seeing him destroy himself over and over again. "You know I want you//It's not a secret I try to hide//But I can't have you" But Ace, he's just so determined to save you specifically that nothing else matters so he keeps. Going. At it. To the point we get to that classic Madoka/Amnesia trap where both Ace and Yuu are sacrificing something to save the other because the stars decided to give them opposing fates. Ace wants to save Yuu, who wants to save Ace who wants to save Yuu who wants to save Ace who can stop me if I decide//That you're my destiny? No one, that's the answer. Something else has to give because it isn't going to be either of these stubborn bitches.
Same with normal timeline stuff. Ace is singing the second pov out loud but the first one is more in line with his actual feelings. He would complain the entire time, but he would rewrite fate for you and claim he just happened to be in the area. Yuu's actual attitude is up to the player's interpenetration, but I like a Yuu who gets so frustrated with Ace's one step forward two steps back that they sing the first pov out loud even though they're very conflicted about going back home. Sort of like how both singers fall into a blended pov at the end. Both of them want to rewrite the stars, but have doubts about if it is possible. Doesn't mean they won't try.
SoulBond au Yuu more fits the second pov. Especially the bit about "not [being] the one you were meant to find." Yuu really thinks there has to have been a mistake, if they were meant to be with Ace why weren't they born in Twisted Wonderland? They're going to get sent back eventually won't they? That would just be too cruel a fate for anyone. Ace though... he has this voiceline in his Master Chef card where he says if he is told he is not supposed to do something that's just a guarantee he's going to do it (he's such a youngest child ◔_◔) and that doesn't change just because it's soulbond bs. Sure, he might not be crazy about the concept but he is crazy about you, and just because you might have your doubts and he might not have made the best first impression but your bound. No one, not the stars, not Crowley, not whatever gods exist in your world or his get to say what you are to each other because you can both feel the truth. You're soulmates, bound by a strange magic most consider a curse, and that won't be stopped by something as trivial as you being from a different world.
c: thank you for the ask annon

I'm sorry to do this bc I know you get so many ppl venting and you have your own shit to deal with and yet ppl on here constantly implicitly ask you to console them which is incredibly emotionally labour intensive. However all that being said. I found out my cat who is 9 but is very young looking and active and shows no sign of pain or suffering has large cell lymphoma (general prognosis 6-9 months) and I'm literally broken. She's my best friend. I've been through years where I've had no friends but I've always had her and she's everything to me and I've known a lot of cats who live to late teens so I had expected that for her and this has come out of nowhere and is just so soul destroying because she is my whole world and I love her so so much. she's literally saved my life (have been at the point of kms so many times but didn't for her) and now she probably wont be here next year and I don't know how to keep existing without her and I didn't know who else to tell. I really appreciate your kind and honest presence on this site it's very cleansing and healing and ik this is a parasocial thing to say/feel but you are like a friend to so many. so thanks. even just having a space to say this stuff is invaluable. You have helped and comforted and offered love and insight to so many people despite your own suffering. Much love to you, I hope the universe treats you with lots of kindness going forward.
i am so so sorry to hear this - sometimes i honestly can't believe how cruel life can be. i wish there was something tangible i could say that would make a change to what you're feeling but my experience with grief (all types of grief esp preemptive grief like what you're dealing with) has proven to me that words often ring hollow when you're going through it. i do want to offer some understanding and some comfort despite that, i just know it may be hard for you to register right now and that's alright. losing a pet is so so deeply painful and it's completely normal to be devastated and taken aback by this news - anyone would be. at the same time it sounds like your cat is deeply lucky to have you and to be loved so completely by someone. while what you're both going through is horrific, i am so glad she has you to take care of her and that she ended up having a wonderful life with you - the gift you have given her and continue to give her every day just by being her owner is huge and i hope you continue to remind yourself that as you confront there next few months. she is warm and fed and taken care of and she has the best chance of living longer with her condition bc of the care and love you continue to show her. i know this is much much easier said than done but please try to take it one day at a time and make every moment count with her - it's easy to get lost in the idea of losing her but she is still here and you still have time together, albeit not as much time as you both deserve. i can't stand how much of a gamble of luck everything seems to be and how horrible things happen to ppl and animals who truly deserve so much more - that anger, despair and incredulity still hits me day after day and i feel it very hard on your behalf rn. you have every right in the world to process that sense of feeling like your soul has been destroyed on whatever timeline works for you. as long as you continue to move forward, hour to hour or minute to minute despite it all.
are you able to talk to any friends/family about this? i only ask bc pet loss is one of the hardest things in the world to go through and i think having some sort of super system could make the days feel a little more manageable. if not, please feel free to message me and share updates, stories, vents etc about your cat and how you're doing - i lost my childhood dog a few yrs back and i do understand. it's such a heavy feeling to carry around with you all the time. i would also recommend joining a pet loss support group as another option too, bc so so many people sadly completely get what youre going through. i hope your little girl is doing OK today and that you are taking care of yourself as much as you feel able to as you process this news. if you need to break down, go to sleep, scream, punch pillows, be numb - that's alright. there's no wrong way to react to this. i just hope you give yourself some grace as you do. sending so so much love to you both - and thank you so much for the insanely kind words by the way. you didn't have to say that and it really made my night better that you did. so sorry you're in this position. X

the snaps from the same little breaks in your soul
"Cole, what-"
"Nya told me."
"She…" Jay swallowed back the bile that wanted to come out of his throat because 'she told Cole, she told Cole EVERYTHING'. He wasn't surprised when his fear came out in the form of a squeak.
Nya rested her thumbnail against her lips as she waited for the results to come in from the computer, her heart beating anxiously against her chest.
Jay trusted in the sealing power of his wish but she couldn't find it in her to do the same, no matter how much she wanted to.
Not when the yellowish-green scar on her chest still ached, not when she felt so cold at night that not even her brother's elemental fire could warm her, not when she was right back in that lighthouse every time she shut her eyes.
"No search terms for that object appear in the database." The Bounty's text displayed across the screen.
"Scan for the Teapot of Tyrahn below the surface of Ninjago." She commanded, watching as the text box disappeared only to be replaced with a thick, red line slowly making its way up through the tiny Ninjago on the screen.
She knew that the scans were excessive, that if she didn't stop then there was a slim chance that she could undo Jay's wish, that everything they had done would be ruined and that she didn't even know what she was going to do if she found it.
'Touching it will free him, destroying it will free him and locking it in a vault that gets broken into despite the high levels of security Cyrus Borg has installed will end up with him being freed.'
And yet, something in her needed to know where it was, even if it was just so she could ensure that it never ended up in anyone's hands ever again.
"No objects matching the description of "Teapot of Tyrahn" found." The text displayed.
'Then why can't I shake this?'
"Scan for the Teapot of-"
"Nya?"
Nya looked away from the screen despite the "error due to incomplete search term" display covering the screen to see Zane in the doorway of the bridge, only to be filled with relief when he was titanium rather than rusty.
"Hey, Zane," she greeted as she cleared the incomplete search request error and started to clear out her scans, "I was just doing some research on-"
"The Teapot of Tyrahn?" Zane supplied, looking up at the screen as she clicked the button to clear the scan history, making her blood go cold.
"How do you know what that is?"
"It's a historical artifact that hasn't been seen in two hundred years. It would be more strange if I was unaware of its existence," Zane explained before raising an eyebrow at her, "although, it would also be odd if I didn't ask what caused your sudden interest in finding it."
'So I can prevent it from ending up in the wrong hands, so I don't have to feel like my ribs are being crushed by the weight of poison seeping into my body ever again.'
"Just some research," she tried to shrug off his inquiry while walking away from the computer to make her escape, "we should probably go train-"
She was stopped by Zane's cold, titanium hand gently grasping her wrist.
"I am missing a period of time in my logs," he told her before she could pull away or protest at him holding her back from the doorway, "PIXAL thinks that it is a period of about a month and she is unable to restore it no matter how hard she tries."
'Because the timeline was erased to keep everyone, to keep me, from dying at Nadhakhan's hands.'
"I don't suppose you, as well as Jay, know what that is about," Zane continued, only stopping to release his grip on her wrist, "but I do not want to force you to confide in me."
"It's not that, it's…" she pulled in a shuddery breath that only made her realize just how terrified she was.
And not just of what would happen if Jay's wish was somehow undone, but the fear of losing her life had encompassed her in a tight chokehold that refused to release her.
Nya couldn't be sure why she made the following decision, whether it was because it was either to show Zane rather than tell him or just the impulse control that had skipped over her and Kai's entire bloodline.
"I'm…If you're okay with it, that is," she stopped to pull out the wire that was used for Zane's maintenance checks, "It's easier to upload the data, then to talk about it."
"I trust you."
"Okay, but if you could keep this between me and you-"
"Of course, but PIXAL will also have to know. She's in my head, after all."
Zane's smile and joking tone filled Nya with a humorous relief that made her giggle while she plugged the wire into the port on the side of Zane's head before walking over to the computer, this time manually accessing it.
Once she had access to his memory bank, she clicked "add new memory" which she and Zane had created after they returned from Chen's Island so she could fill in the gaps that his new memory bank had lost before she started typing.
She typed every detail she remembered; becoming public enemies, escaping prison, getting stranded, Jay getting taken hostage and hers and Jay's eventual escape; she debated internally for a moment about if she should add details about his father's lighthouse and about Echo, more importantly, if Echo even existed in the new timeline Jay had created.
But with how that event related to herself getting taken hostage and the new scar on her chest, she knew she had to, even if it hurt Zane or worse, hurt their friendship that she hadn't told him until now.
She hit the enter key and turned to see the scanning reflected in Zane's glowing blue eyes for a few moments before he finally met her gaze, the blank stare quickly morphing into deep sadness.
"I think you know why I didn't tell you now." Nya tried to smile while she removed the wire, even though she knew that it wasn't convincing.
She didn't realize just how unconvincing it was until she was pulled into a tight hug by the nindroid who only said one thing but that one thing still filled her with an immeasurable amount of relief.
"I do not blame you for keeping it from me."
Jay bit back a curse as he continued to fiddle with the long-abandoned ray gun in the dark, the object in question throwing sparks at his face.
"You stupid, piece of junk, just work." He muttered, waiting until the last ember fizzled out to stick his hands back into the mess of wires and machinery.
The lamp strapped to his forehead wasn't strong enough to illuminate the white scars on the back of his hands, let alone the inside of the weapon that he hadn't tinkered with since before Zane's sacrifice.
But even though his left eye refused to adjust to the darkness, he didn't dare turn the light on; the last thing he wanted was a lecture from anyone about why he was awake when he couldn't tell them why or worse, to wake up Nya, whose sleep schedule had become just as bad as his if not worse.
He would just wait until it was an acceptable hour to be awake and make himself an extra-strong espresso; being jittery throughout training was better than closing his eyes only to be shoved down deep into the nightmare that had been his reality just two weeks before.
Jay lifted the pliers away from the tangled mess and clamped his teeth around the bright red handles before grabbing the wire cutters and snipping right through the blue wire which protested in another round of quick sparks.
"Is that a gu-"
"Ahhh!" Jay screamed before the voice could finish its sentence, launching himself onto his feet and allowing his fists to fill with lightning that illuminated the room, only to light up his best friend's ghostly face.
"Sorry!" Cole shouted, covering his face in defense even though the lightning would easily pass right through him.
"Why are you sneaking up on people?!" Jay shouted as the blue fizzled out, "why aren't you asleep?!"
"I could ask you the same question since it's," Cole paused to look over at the clock on the wall, "three in the morning."
"Really?" Jay asked as he stood up, pulled the headlamp off and stretched his arms with what he hoped was a convincing yawn, "I must've lost track of time. I'll just head to bed-"
He was stopped by Cole's cold hand around his wrist, effectively stopping him in his attempt at a quick getaway.
"What is going on with you?" Jay tried to answer but was cut off by Cole adding onto his question, "What is going on with Nya? Everyone can see you two drifting away from us, and don't think you can lie to me, I know you too well."
"You saved up for this place? Bologna. Whenever money comes your way, you waste it on junk food and video games. What's really up, and don't think you can lie to me, I know you too well."
"Cole, I'm not…" Jay swallowed in order to try and find the words, to find the strength in him to tell him everything, but the only words that came out were, "I'm not ready."
"Jay-"
"The little canary can't find his voice."
"I can't tell you," Jay continued, wiping his arm over his eyes filling with tears while trying to block the mocking tone out of his mind, "I can't tell anyone."
"Why not?"
'Because I'm the reason all of you got hurt.' Jay wanted so desperately to just tell the truth, to let his best friend in, but his lips felt as if the sheet of metal that had been forced over his face in an effort to keep his last wish from being spoken was once again covering them.
"Fine, you don't have to tell me," Cole finally spoke up after pinching the bridge of his nose, his other hand still grasped around Jay's wrist, "but you do need to go to sleep, not just lay down, close your eyes and fake snore until you can keep fiddling with this gun thing."
'That might be the worst idea Cole has ever had, and this is the same guy who tried to make lava with Kai.'
"If you must know, it is a replica copy of Fritz Donnegan's ray gun, the one from Starfarer issue thirty-nine where he goes up against the Kryptamights-"
"Oh, First Master! Just go to bed!"
"Fine, fine!" Jay raised his hands in surrender which finally got Cole to let go of his wrist, "I'm going, I'm going," he let his hands drop only to put the prototype away in case it tried to spark in defiance again, "but you better do something outside of pummeling Kai's Sitar Legend high score into the ground."
"Goodnight, blue bell."
"Same to you, twinkle toes."
Even though he couldn't help himself from smiling when he heard Cole's echoey laugh, it quickly faded when he was hit with the realization that he actually had to go to sleep, in his bed, where the memories of losing everyone to the Djinn blade hovered over his head.
'It's just a couple of hours till sunrise exercise. You can last for a couple of hours.' Jay told himself as he climbed up the ladder and laid down on his pillow, allowing himself to take comfort in the sound of Kai's deep breathing, Zane's loud snoring and Lloyd's occasional shifting in his bed.
Sure, Cole was making rounds through The Bounty and Nya was sound asleep in her room, but this was as close to normal as Jay was going to get until the dreaded training in the morning so he grabbed Mr. Cuddleywhomp from the end of his bed and pulled himself onto his right side.
It wasn't long until his eyes fluttered closed and shut out the world around him, but the sleep he received was anything but the peace that he had hoped for.
"You only have one wish, Jay. What a dilemma," Nya was already growing cold in his grasp, too cold, cold only meant bad things, cold meant dea- "wish me mortal and she dies. Wish her well, and there is no stopping me!"
"You have to make your last wish. You're the only one who can stop him."
His heart was pounding by the time the alarm clock started ringing throughout the room.
Luckily for Jay, the topic remained untouched as he stood in front of all of them with the newly reconstructed battle bot standing behind him at the ready.
"This is the master remote, it controls every single aspect of the bot's infrastructure which means that this stays with me," he stopped to pull out the smaller yet just as advanced secondary remote, "this is the training remote, so you can change difficulty, weapons and speed. Who wants to test it first?"
Jay wasn't surprised to see Lloyd walk forward and slip the helmet over his head without even being asked; he had been assisting with the major improvements after he had been cautioned against diving headfirst back into his usual routine while recovering from Morro.
"Do you know what level-"
"Give me a challenge."
'Maybe I'm not the only one who couldn't sleep last night.' Jay thought to himself while taking in Lloyd's clenched jaw and strained voice.
But, he knew better than to press when that was the last thing he wanted for himself right now, so he grabbed the remote, hit the number seven and backed away to give Lloyd all the space he needed.
Jay knew he was supposed to be paying attention to both Lloyd's technique and the bot's adaptation but he was unable to focus when the ghostly palm pulled him away from the others.
"Cole, what-"
"Nya told me."
"She…" Jay swallowed back the bile that wanted to come out of his throat because 'she told Cole, she told Cole EVERYTHING'. He wasn't surprised when his fear came out in the form of a squeak, "she told you about-"
He couldn't finish his sentence before he was pulled into a bone-crushing hug which made the skin on his arms tingle in retaliation, but he ignored it and returned the hug as his tears made a light 'hiss' against the deepstone armor.
Nya hated how damp the storage building was.
She knew better to complain about it when it was keeping them hidden from Harumi, even if all of the clothes, first aid supplies and the perishables had been soaked through and the dampness only made the metal building colder than it was in the harsh fall wind.
It didn't help that it felt all too familiar to Misfortune's Keep.
It had been nearly two years since the timeline reversal and even though confiding in Cole and Zane had been beneficial for her to be able to begin to move on from those events, there were still things that would remind her on how tight that white dress had been despite the extra arms and how tight her throat had been as she tried to get her final words out.
Nya shook away the thoughts and bent down to pick up the drying first aid kit before making her way over to Lloyd.
Lloyd, who was sitting in the corner with his vision not fixated on any one thing as he rested his head against the wall and was more than likely thinking about the others.
Lloyd, who looked so much more like the nine year old in a black hoodie and less like the leader of the resistance.
She couldn't help but wonder if the ache in her chest was how Jay felt right after she had been taken, if he also knew the exact stab of pain from losing everyone he loved all too well.
"You're getting better at hand to hand." Nya tried to break through his silence as she gently pushed back a section of his hair to reveal the graze from the fight in Kryptarium Prison that still hadn't healed.
"My mom told you to tell me that?"
"No one told me to tell you that, and if you remember from my samurai days," she stopped to brush an alcohol wipe over the graze, swallowing back her guilt from the instant hiss of pain, "when it comes to talking to you, I am a shit liar."
Lloyd nodded but stayed quiet as she applied a new gauze pad over the graze and didn't fight back when she started to run her fingers over his collarbones, shoulders, and arms.
"How are your legs?" She asked after confirming that he had come out of the training with zero hairline fractures.
"Fine, you didn't snap any of my limbs," Lloyd insisted, still resting his head against the wall, "can I ask you a question?"
"I don't see why not," she insisted as she grabbed the fabric bandages before gesturing for him to take off his shirt so she could see if the broken ribs were still healing, "good distraction, right?"
"How'd you get that scar on your chest?"
Nya became rigid as her blood went cold.
"I don't wanna pry but I saw it earlier and I just…you don't have to answer if you don't want to."
"What, um…" She stopped to tear off the strip from the roll, making a mental note that she should tell Dareth to check the abandoned clinic again for supplies when he returned, "Is there a reason that you're asking?"
"Because you're all I have left of them and…" Lloyd stopped to swallow but Nya was unable to tell if that was from the pain of her taking off the old bandages that Jay had wrapped neatly around Lloyd's torso just a few days before or from what he said next, "I wanted to make sure it wasn't because of her."
Nya gently ran her hand over the purple and blue splotches that covered his left side, relief only hitting her when she saw that the least severe of the bruising was slowly but surely changing from blue to yellowish-green.
"No, it happened about two years ago, long before Harumi."
"Good," Lloyd nodded, his face visibly relaxing, "so, what fight did I miss then?"
"You didn't miss much. Sky pirates, Dijin wedding and a timeline reversal," she said quickly to avoid dwelling on it longer than she had to, "just another day in Ninjago."
"Would you believe me if I said that I was too tired to ask more questions?" Lloyd asked, wincing as she pulled the bandages firmly in order to make sure they were tight before securing them with a few strips of medical tape.
"Regardless, we should probably go again."
"But-" Lloyd started as he pulled his shirt back on, but Nya cut him off as she offered him her hand for support.
"Ninja never quit, right?"
"Unfortunately."
He put his hand in hers and let her pull him to his feet.
She tried not to remember the many times she had pulled Jay to his feet as they trained and he let her beat him, even if he insisted that he wasn't. It made the scar on her chest twinge with pain when she thought about him for too long.
So she pushed it down and held her fists up while speaking, "Then let's go again."
It was quiet in the monastery as Nya brushed the electric blue nail polish over Jay's fingernails.
It had taken quite a bit of filing for them to be the right shape after being in the First Realm, but sitting on her bedroom floor while the faint smell of nail polish hit his nose was comforting.
It meant he wasn't stuck in a foreign realm away and not knowing if she was okay and it also meant he wasn't trapped on Misfortune's Keep and fearing what would happen to her if he gave in to Nadhakhan's demands.
It made the Yin-Yang medallion weigh heavy in his pocket and his internal voice pressured him to "ask her now" but he ignored it; he knew that he could find a better time than while his nail polish was still wet.
"Did Master Wu tell you about the mural?" Nya spoke as she finished painting the nails on his right hand and gestured for him to put his left hand in hers.
He had missed dinner to pick up the medallion in the city and he wasn't that surprised that an announcement had been made in his absence. He shook his head "no".
"He said that he's hiring some monks to paint the "history of Ninjago" on the west side, individual murals of us stopping all those people over the years."
"Oh, that's cool." Jay nodded but he couldn't help but wonder if Nya had told Master Wu about the djinn.
"Lloyd's already calling it "the trauma wall", but Kai lectured him on it and now Cole's talking about finding him a therapist which I'm not totally against-"
"Did you tell Master Wu? About the…you know." Jay trailed off, knowing that part of him was still worried about saying the name aloud as if it would summon the dijin right to him.
"I don't think it's exactly an age appropriate story for a baby."
"Fair point."
"Do you…do you want him to know?"
"You told Lloyd, you told Zane and PIXAL and you had to tell Cole for me," Jay expressed as she let go of his left hand, "I just…if anyone should know, it should be Master Wu, just in case."
He didn't want to go into the "what ifs" right now, the two of them were both painfully aware of any bad possibility that could come from the events of the timeline reversal and this was their first date night inside the new monastery of spinjitzu. The last thing he wanted to do was taint it.
"He's probably still awake, if you want to tell him now," Nya sat back while putting away the dark blue nail polish and pulling out a dark red for herself, "it'll be easier if you don't wait until he's putting paint on the wall, but if you scuff your nails before I put the top coat on, Jay Walker, I swear to the first spinjitzu master himself-"
"I won't walk into the walls, promise."
"We both know you don't even believe that." she smiled before shooing him out the door with a wave of her hand.
It was only when he shut the sliding door, without denting the fresh polish, that he realized his mistake.
'Just tell Master Wu about everything that happened when you're too scared to even say names, like that isn't nearly impossible.'
"Baby steps, Jay. Baby steps," He whispered to himself as he started to walk through the dark halls of the monastery, "you can figure out what to say after you find him."
If anyone had heard him, they would know that he was trying to avoid thinking about his words as much as possible. Even he knew that he was avoiding thinking about it as he poked his head in the common areas that were completely dark for the night.
He grabbed his jacket that was hanging by the door and pushed his arms through the sleeves before walking into the courtyard that was only illuminated by the glow of the moon.
And sure enough, the figure of Master Wu that was shrouded in shadow due to the darkness was standing and staring at the west wall that would soon immortalize everything they had been through in the last few years.
"Master Wu?" Jay asked softly as to not startle him.
"Nya told you about the mural?"
"Yes, yes she did," Jay agreed as he moved forward to stand by Master Wu's side, "we were talking and…well, she said…I have something to tell you."
"Oh?"
"Do you remember when you sent us to investigate what Clouse was doing in Stixx? After he escaped the Cursed Realm?" Jay questioned, figuring that he should start with something he had no problems talking about, "but we missed him because we drew attention of the NInjago City news team and when we got back on The Bounty, Lloyd said that he was experiencing some really intense deja vu?"
"I seem to recall the news footage of you and Nya settling your differences and her using airjitzu, yes."
"I know why, Nya and I both do and we've told a few of the others, but we were talking and I told her that if anyone needed to know, it was you because if somehow it didn't work, you'd be able to help us figure it out. Wish magic is tricky and-"
"Jay," Master Wu's hand on his shoulder stopped his nervous ramble, "I know that you two reversed the timeline where Clouse released an evil djinn."
"Who told you?"
"I became very familiar with time travel long before Acronix hit me with the "time punch", and even before the four of you went back in time and destroyed my brother's megaweapon. When I saw that news footage, I felt the same feeling as Lloyd did, that I had seen this before."
"That doesn't explain how you know about…about him." Jay still couldn't say the name, it made his stomach turn and his tongue feel heavy.
"When my brother returned to help the elemental alliance, he told me very little about what he had seen and heard with Chen as his sensei. But he did tell me that Clouse had a very strong interest in dark magic which included the Teapot of Tyrahn, the same teapot that Captain Soto had famously trapped a djinn by the name of Nadhakhan inside of before marooning the rest of his crew in different realms."
Jay tried not to shudder at the name being said aloud, "so the First Spinjitzu Master used the realm crystal to help Soto?"
"Precisely. I was a teenager back then, so while my father didn't tell Garmadon or I much, I was very good at listening in on his private conversations," Wu's brief smile of fondness from the memory helped relax some of Jay's nervous energy, "would you and Nya like for the defeat of Nadakhan to be a part of the mural?"
"I don't know," Jay admitted, kicking at a loose pebble by his feet, "if no one remembers it, how is it as important as something like Zane's sacrifice, or the Iron Doom?"
"Regardless of whether or not the others remember it, it is still a part of our history. And given the nail polish on your hands, the fact you came out here to tell me at eleven at night and the yin-yang medallion in your pocket, I have a feeling that you and Nya are still finding significance in it."
The medallion weighed heavy in his pocket again, "how did you-"
"My nephew is very happy for you two, and terrible at keeping secrets from people who are not the subject of surprise."
Jay couldn't help but smile at the mental image of Lloyd excitedly telling Master Wu about what he had asked both Kai and Lloyd after returning from asking Nya' parents and telling his own, knowing that the green ninja was just as much Nya's brother as Kai was.
'If it wasn't for that stupid teapot, I wouldn't even be asking Nya to be my yang.'
"Yeah," Jay nodded in response to Wu's question, "It should be part of the mural."
"Very well. You should get back to your date night," Wu nodded, but when Jay started to make his way back inside, he added "and Jay?"
"Yes, Master Wu?"
"Congratulations."
Nya ran her fingers over the curves in the medallion, making notes of every little scratch in it; she had taken the gold half while the Oni were trying to break down the doors of the monastery and it had shined despite the lack of light in the sky.
Jay's words had been quick, but heartfelt and when Cole and Kai had yelled about his sense of timing, all he had responded with was "there may not be another time"; even though she had initially been confused, she knew that she was going to say yes as soon as he got down on one knee.
Just being pinned to her chest during the tornado of creation had scuffed it quite a bit, but Kai had taught her years ago how to get scratches out of metal with a scouring pad and once she made note of all of the marks, she was going to fix it.
'Two nights ago, I was telling Jay not to dent his nail polish,' Nya thought to herself when she caught sight of her chipped nails, 'now I'm working out the scratches in the medallion he bought for me.'
Nya knew it could have been way worse than a scratched-up medallion. Cole could have died, Lloyd did die even if it was only for a few seconds, her plan about the golden weapons and Lloyd's plan about the tornado of creation could have failed.
It was not lost on Nya that the biggest repercussions that she was feeling was having to smooth out the medallion and the monastery being slightly more drafty then usual.
It wasn't surprising to her that the others had all turned in early, leaving her alone in the dim lighting of the kitchen to repair her medallion; it was actually nice in a strange way, to be able to just focus on the repairs she was making.
She hadn't experienced that since she had been Samurai X.
She was brought out of her focus of running the scratches over the scouring pad to one of the bedroom doors opening and closing with a couple of creaks that indicated that the new hinges already needed oiling.
'That's tomorrow's project.' She told herself as she heard the footsteps approach her, looking up to see her brother heading towards the cups.
"How's Lloyd?" She asked, making sure she lined up the grooves correctly so she didn't scratch it more.
"He's not in too much pain, all things considered," Kai shrugged as he filled the cup with the filtered water in the fridge, "had to give him the "parents don't define us" talk again."
"So not great." Nya sighed as she put the medallion down to switch to a softer pad to finish polishing the sides.
Every single one of them with the exception of Jay, and she knew that he wouldn't be so lucky if Kai knew about his biological parents, had been on the receiving end of Kai's spiel about being separate from your parents.
Cole during their undercover work for the Ninjago Talent show, Zane when he questioned why his father hadn't removed his memory switch, Lloyd so many times whether it pertained to Misako or Garmadon and even her when she was so frustrated with her mom that it made her want to ignore every single text message and phone call that she received.
Kai had always been at the ready with his rare but wise words and a tight, comforting hug every single time.
"Yeah, but he's asleep now," Kai sat down beside her on the barstool with his glass of water, "can I ask you a question?"
"Sure."
"Were you ever going to tell me?"
"I'm not following." Nya raised her eyebrow as she reexamined the medallion to see that her work had been a success before pinning it back onto her gi, all while a small part of her brain hoped that her brother was referring to something that didn't involve sky pirates.
"About the mural."
"What about it?"
"Oh my-First Master. The one of you and Jay and that four armed genie thing with the lamp! Were you ever going to tell me, Nya?"
'No getting out of it now.'
"Fine, fine," Nya sighed as she rested her elbow on the counter so she was looking directly at her brother's amber colored eyes, the Smith family anger bubbling in her chest, "what do you want me to tell you? About the sky pirates? About being public enemies and being put in Kryptarium? About me dying in Jay's arms? Or just about the evil djinn who tried to kill Jay and tried to force me into being his wife?"
Kai went deathly silent as he looked down at the tiled floor but as soon as she finished speaking, she couldn't help but instantly regret the tone that she had used against her brother.
She hadn't gone into details since she had first typed everything out into Zane's database, she had never recounted the details out loud since they had happened. It made the scar on her chest ache when she found it in herself to look back at Kai's tear filled eyes.
"I-I'm sorry," tears started involuntarily running down her cheeks as well, "everyone else knows and-"
She was cut off by the tightest hug Kai had ever given her, one hand in her hair and the other resting on her upper back, she instantly returned the pressure with her hands wrapped tightly around his torso.
"I shouldn't have acted like that." Nya spoke after a few moments, still engulfed in the hug.
"I shouldn't have pushed. You went to the others in your own time, right?"
"Kind of," Nya nodded against Kai's shoulder, "Cole came to me, but that was because he was worried about Jay and Lloyd asked, but I was trying to distract him and we thought you guys were dead-omph." She was cut off again by Kai squeezing her tighter.
"I love you, Nya."
"I don't think you've told me that in a long time."
Kai finally let go and wiped his face on his sleeve, "me either, I didn't think I needed to say it. But after today I just…I feel like I should let everyone know that, especially you."
Nya nodded, her brother's shout of "we have to go back" as a reaction to Cole's fall and his desperate plea of "buddy, wake up" after they had pulled Lloyd out from under the rubble would forever live in her mind, just like the scarring memories of what she and Jay had experienced.
"I love you too, Kai."
"I know you do," Kai grinned with a hint of cockiness in his voice which made Nya roll her eyes, "I just wanted to make sure that if you wanted to talk to me about it, you knew that you could."
"I know."
"Good, also that if that fucker ever tries to mess with you or Jay again, I'll fist fight him."
Nya chuckled as she hugged him again, tucking her chin against his shoulder as she whispered in his ear, "get in line, Jay and I call first dibs."

Tumblr media
Yeah Hi there, I’m Noot. New(ish) to tumblr.
Currently in a (a hat in time) phase (again) so I finally decided I should share to the world the array of snatchers I have. (Yes. Very original with snatcher characters) who would’ve thought purple ghost noodles would’ve been the start of my tumble account? I’m already RUINED.
Naturally I’d just leave it at that and let everyone suffer in wondering who in the world ARE these snatchers, I suppose it’s only fair of me to explain them? At least introduce them to you, whomever may be reading this. We’ll start simple with the bright glowy flower boy. All the way on the left.
That’s Florent Snatcher. Florent for short.
He’s from a sorta private project au APIT (A Petal in time) that deals with hanahaki disease but with a twist! This mans has a disease, he spreads and infects people (can’t have anything nice in subcon). He’s generally a very sweet (trauma ridden) ghost. VERY DIFFERENT from canon snatcher or anything like that. He’s actually very nice, enjoys talking to people and is still HORRIBLY in love with Vanessa. Sucks she hates his guts (Soul mate reference)
Florent canonically floods his own forest with his tears. Mans cries a lot, okay? Flood warning.
The one all the way on the right is Oleander.
He was like at first an alternate timeline Florent that instead of the hanahaki forming from his love for Vanessa, he unlike Florent stopped loving Vanessa, thus he is not covered in doom flowers. But he’s an edgy ASSHOLE who wears killer eyeliner to hold together his broken non-existent ego.
Funfact! Oleander is just a feral Florent. He’s not special.
Now, the one in the middle is.. “ The Frost King “
Basically, I took the subcon story AND DESTROYED IT. Vanessa and Prince have swapped abilities. Prince having ice and Vanessa having Fire. Basically bad stuff happened, still haven’t decided how but mans has been battered, beaten and brain washed by Vanessa after getting locked in the cellar. Whodda thunk? Now he’s Vanessa “ Perfect Prince “. Heavy quote unquote. Mans froze over all of subcon. He’s just a frightened guard dog, that’s it, his entire personality.
I really screwed Frost Snatcher over. Basically it’s a “ Something’s wrong “ (Vanessa W) alternate timeline.
I guess that’s all. For now. I might actually die forever again. Or I might post more in the future. Who knows. All you have to know is I have snatchers who all cry when face to face with Vanessa. These men will break down crying at the mere thought of her. Trauma moment. Anyways I am logging off ( don’t delete my save file ) - Noot

Let's say a Harry who already defeated Voldemort gets thrown back in time to the 10+ years before Tom creates his homunculus (let's say it's before Quirrel).
Harry already knows all of Tom's horcruxes and how to destroy them. In a timeline where he succeeds again: what happens to Tom's original soul? Does it fade? Does it need to be killed as well?
"Harry already knows all of Tom's horcruxes and how to destroy them." - Anon
You have a lot of faith in Harry, anon, a lot of faith I don't have. Especially considering Harry doesn't know where all the horcruxes are in this time frame. Oh, he thinks he does, but is the cup, for example, in the Black vault when Bellatrix is in prison? Lucius has the diary in his house somewhere but... where?
That doesn't even get into how Harry cons his way into Grimmauld Place when Sirius is uh still on the run or else has not inherited the house.
Or how he disarms the ring trap without getting himself killed (a la Dumbledore's hand cancer).
And that doesn't even get into how Harry does not have the means to destroy them as he no longer has the sword of Gryffindor drenched in basilisk venom and if he uses fiendfyre... well... that's a bad idea.
Harry had a lot of help, a lot, doing this canonically. I have 0 faith in his abilities to do this on his own.
As to your question, we don't know, obviously that never came up in canon. Personally? I would think that without the horcruxes, yes it would no longer be attached to this world as it has nothing to hang onto.
However that's assuming a) Harry got all the horcruxes and the ones in canon were actually all the ones that existed and b) he didn't have something else to keep him alive that Dumbledore didn't know about.
What I love about Harry Potter is that we never quite get confirmation that Voldemort's actually, you know, dead for real this time. We just all assume he is.

What's the garden au tell me about it I'm intrigued
@valkyrkinnie feel free to add onto this because I'm braindead atm
just pasting the entire document here to be real
Garden of Afton au or just, "the garden", is just an excuse for every diverging continuity we make up.
The reasoning behind every continuity is that Michael is in a time loop, beginning from the moment Ennard decides to leave its flesh suit and he wakes up on that warm sidewalk.
To get out of this time loop, he's got to fix all the mess his father made by destroying every animatronic related to the incident.
If he dies, he starts over, left with only an incredible sense of unease and deja vu if he goes towards the wrong path once again.
But no matter the continuity, there's always one thing that's always there; the garden.
Before everything, the Aftons had a prize winning garden that Mrs. Afton kept up with mostly.
It's also where she and Elizabeth are buried, with Ballora burying her own corpse and the latter by William.
The garden has always existed, and will always exist no matter its dilapidation.
Commonly, Ballora will be drawn to it and will realize her identity as the late Mrs. Afton.
This all acts as an alternative to Pizzeria Sim; it never happens.
Here's where we get nightmare gas leaky. The time loop? it's fabricated.
At the end of the final, completed loop, Michael wakes up from a medically induced coma he was placed under by Henry. By Michael destroying everyone in this hyperrealistic dream, he frees them from the real world also. They agreed that this would be the end of it.
All Michael remembers is the very last loop that in his mind lasted years, when in reality it lasted about 2 months. Needless to say, he regrets ever signing those papers.
However, there were some loops where Henry seriously considered killing Michael so that he never would've known that this was just a dream.
Loops where he was finally happy. where he brought them together and made them whole. Because at least then, the end goal was still achieved; they could never hurt anyone in the real world again.
And Michael himself would finally have peace.
Michael waking up can ALSO segway into him brutally attacking Henry for this sort of torturous 2 and a half month long nightmare, with Henry agreeing to put him back under for good and they both pass on.
Which THEN segways to Michael accidentally possessing Glamrock Freddy years later while he's in the parts and services protective dome. And Gregory is playing Simon Says on his FACE.
The universe hates Michael so he exists only as a foil to his father. To clean up his mess and ultimately live in his shadow.
So if Michael is here now after dying 6 years ago... so is he.
But Henry could've never even anticipated William returning in the form of Glitchtrap.
The whole time traveling part requires Henry to die here, because then his soul is freed to literally fuck around and find out. Retaining information he's gained from different timelines and continuities, bringing them to others, trying to find *some way* to patch things up. Something typically always goes wrong, yknow butterfly effect and chaos theory bullshit. But he can dream, at least.
It all boils down to "what if he could save them all?" He can't, and he realizes this. but DAMN he will try.
The first thing he does is stop Michael from ever signing those documents. He doesn't need him anymore. There's no point in putting Michael through all that torture again.
He doesn't DESERVE any of that.
Whatever time to quantum suicide to the gay reality.
-
My favorite is when Henry shows up to Fazbear's closing in 1993 to stop William from having a workplace accident (eviscerating himself inside Springbonnie).
William being completely shell shocked because HIS Henry completely denounced ever wanting to see his face again and here he is just, nonchalantly walking up to him. Takes a drag of a cigarette and goes "yeah don't do that".
1st - The actual fear gas experimenting time loop shit. The "canon" timeline.
2nd - Michael getting trapped in The Good Timeline after Henry kills him (Michael refurbishes all the animatronics of his family himself, runs fazbears, etc)
3rd - Henry dies and his soul is freed to fuck around and find out.
Hell, all of this is more just a prologue to everything considering I mostly fuck around with 3rd continuity Henry anyway.

If I thought the Transformers (Aligned) timeline was convoluted, god the Trollhunters timeline is fucked beyond all hell, and worse of all because they use Merlin - bloody MERLIN - as a character that created the amulet there's an upper limit of time Trollhunters have existed before, heck even Myrddin Wyllt his welsh name (and canonical alternate name in the show), Merlin stops being the Merlin from human myth and starts becoming Merlin a similarly named folkloric character in troll myth-
I wonder if I, a fan coming in at minimum 2023, am arriving to this a little late but- if this isn't going to be a timeline rewrite then let me complain about how specific canonical details contradict with one another, including the glaringly obvious issue of Wizard's addition to the timeline, making Deya the Deliverer the first Trollhunter and thus practically erasing most of the historical Trollhunters or conforming to fit them all in a timeline of 900ish years.
I'll address the elephant in the room when we get to it, but let's set up the basics, both for me and any viewer not already in the know (given that my audience is mostly from transformers and ben 10, I'd say it's a lot of you).
Trolls and humans got off to a bad start, humans living on the surface and trolls having originated from a realm called the Darklands, accessible from a bridge (a gateway) Kilahead bridge. Like with any civilisation there are good and bad trolls, the baddest being Orlagk the Oppressor, leader of the Gumm-Gumms. Having been introduced to the surface, trolls fought with the humans who already lived on it creating the War for the Surface Lands, and their fighting lead the first Heartstone (a gigantic magical gem that serves as the centre of troll caverns, healing them and providing power) to corrupt and birth Gunmar. This war lasted for millennia, Gunmar taking over leadership of the Gumm-Gumms after slaying Orlagk at some vague point, up until the Battle of Kilahead Bridge where the Gumm-Gumms were sealed away in the Darklands again thanks to the Trollhunter Deya the Deliverer.
Okay, sure, that doesn't sound very bad at first, up until you realise that the Battle of Kilahead Bridge was 900 years prior to the series (2016 was it's release date) and thus in the year 1116 AD give or take; the legend of Merlin as a magician, a wizard, was in the 12th century which would've been instead at minimum 1300 AD that's 200 years of difference. Not to mention Angor Rot - a character and antagonist in the show - came begging for magic to stop Gunmar's armies from destroying more and more independant troll tribes, like his own, in 1200 AD at least. Why in the fucking hell would Angor Rot bother to risk his own soul asking for magic, from a sorcerer known as (among many things) the Eldritch Queen, if Gunmar and his Gumm-Gumms were already kept within the Darklands. Gunmar's son Bular, the one Gumm-Gumm to not be banished, is surely not that much of a threat to not one but multiple villages it would send someone to the doorstep of the Pale Lady. In addition, Angor Rot was responsible for killing at least a few Trollhunters, one known and named being Voltar the Voracious, who was the only Trollhunter given an exact year of choosing in 1578. And the fucker is listed BEFORE Deya on the wiki but that alone doesn't mean anything, however she does die in 1620 to Bular, 396 years before the show.
Alright then, so you look at Merlin's mythological existence and go 'now what about the whole thing about millenia' because 12th century doesn't allow the War for the Surface Lands to have a Trollhunter, even with 11 named Trollhunters that come presumably before Deya (Unkar the Unfortunate, despite being trained by Blinky who in human standards - assuming his human body tells us his age - is probably about middle age give or take, fought in the time Gumm-Gumms were still around even if slain by Bular). Given that Trollhunters itself references Merlin's original Welsh name Myrddin (and his in show last name is Ambrosius, which would be Emyrs in the original Welsh, as opposed to Wyllt for 'of the wild), I thought that potentially looking into when Myrddin first came around I would be able to get a better timeline; Myrddin Wyllt was said to have been born - and not just the legend - in 540 AD, which gives between that and 2016 1476 years to work with, allowing the 400ish years ago that Deya died (and the 438 years from when Voltar had the amulet) and the millenia's worth of war the War for the Surface Lands took.
Done deal, right?
Well guess what, some fucker named Spar the Spiteful (not even the first Trollhunter like Deya so proclaims to be) died 5200 years before Jim, our protagonist and first HUMAN Trollhunter, ever picked up the mantle. 5200 years before 2016 is the bloody fucking 4th millenium BC. This period included the beginnings of the Bronze Age, and was the bloody time WRITING was invented! And in Spar's time, there was no DOMESTIC HORSES! HORSE RIDING DIDN'T BLOODY EXIST WHEN SPAR DIED HOW FUCKED IT THAT!?
God FUCKING DAMN IT!
Fine, I can work with this.
Merlin in the show is all the old man we think of him as in myth, but he's also still old when we go back in time to when the Battle of Kilahead Bridge takes place, albeit it without a full head of grey hairs (how does the old man age more than his teen/young adult apprentice) potentially as a young sorcerer/wizard/whatever they use these terms interchangeably, Merlin or Myrddin created the Amulet of Daylight. You could even give more wriggle room between whenever trolls came to the surface and when Merlin made the amulet, because although Orlagk was a figure explicitly older than Gunmar, there is no mention of an amulet without Gunmar simply a time when he was still not a leader. In fact, given that Merlin's original name - Myrddin - came from a riddle designed with the intent to kill Gunmar, a piece informing the Trollhunter teams how to kill Gunmar rather than Orlagk the original leader, perhaps it's befitting to make Myrddin technically younger than the trolls; given that the original purpose of the Amulet of Daylight was not to kill Gunmar but to protect trolls, seeing as how one of the keys to Gunmar's destruction is a Triumbric Stone (one of 3) that resulted in the death of Orlagk, the amulet can date to before Gunmar and have been made after the Gumm-Gumms took out their rage on other trolls instead of humans alone.
The Trollhunter after Spar the Spiteful was Boraz the Bold, named that specifically for taking on 1000 Gumm-Gumms, was killed by Bular who was - as I said - Gunmar's son. While that does not mean that Spar the previous Trollhunter existed before Bular did, it does mean that by the time Boraz was selected after Spar's position Bular was competent enough to slay a Trollhunter, especially one as 'Bold' as Boraz who felled a thousand Gumm-Gumms before falling to 1001. It would mean that his father Gunmar would be much older, potentially tracking further and further back in time and putting Orlagk's death deeper and deeper into the War for the Surface Lands, potentially even aligned Orlagk's death and the Triumbric Stone's creation to a period humans heard of Myrddin, the death of Orlagk potentially landing in 540 AD, perhaps even in 573 AD where an actual battle took place, the Battle of Arfderydd; this details a Riderch Hael, King of Alt Clut (Stratclyde, a Brittonic kingdom in northern... well... Britain, which got annexed in the 11th century AKA 1000 AD to become part of the emerging Kingdom of Scotland) slaughtering the forces of a Gwenddoleu ap Ceidio, Myrddin having gone mad watching that defeat.
The remaining named Trollhunters, ones that weren't explicitly dated and timed, are in a bullshit order on the Wiki that I just have to piece together what is being said to put together a timeline.
Maddrux the Many, he/him in the show and she/her in the comics, was canonically an active Trollhunter before another, Araknak the Agile, was either born or an actual functioning adult; Araknak is the ancestor of the previously mentioned (and assumed to be) middle aged Blinkous Galadrigal and his brother (an older brother or twin depending on who you quote) Dictatious Maximus Galadrigal, the pair being present for the Battle of Kilahead Bridge and still alive by 2016 and idk about Tatious but Blinky appears in 2017 or at least whenever RoTT takes place. To use the term ancestor instead of grandparent or even parent, which technically ancestor can be used on either anyway, means that the exact family history is undetermined. However, we can place Maddrux at the very least on the timeline where Orlagk was still active in, seeing as that was her major enemy in the comics.
At the end of her service instead of going directly to Araknak, a Trollhunter preceded him in Magmar the Molten, the only known mountain troll to be a wielder of Daylight. Interesting to note, Araknak learnt from Magmar a certain combat move so, even before his selection by the amulet Araknak was already preferring the lifestyle of a warrior in comparison to his scholar parents; a trait that outlasted the warrior spirit and descended to the Galadrigals however many years later. Mentioned specifically as preceding not only Araknak but Tellad-Urr, we have another date to place as Tellad-Urr the Triumphant - very soon to be Tellad-Urr the Terrible - was active until 501 CE where Orlagk was still alive; how convientient. It helps that Gogun the Gentle - his immediate successor - would be the only Trollhunter to die of old age, potentially because Gunmar was too busy killing Orlagk and Orlagk too busy being dead for either of them to do anything.
Hopefully Gogun was already an old fart because the oldest recorded troll Chokeenamaga lived to 5352 years and I have no idea if that's slightly above average, notably old, or specific to a troll type (like for example, mountain trolls may have the longest average lifespan of all trollkin), and it's not like I can look at the show for any reference because Draal the Deadly, son of Kanjigar the Couragous and the previous Trollhunter did not age between 900 years yet there are no troll whelps in modern Trollmarket, let alone the fact that the Battle of Kilahead Bridge according to our established Trollhunters could not have happened before 1578 but must have happened between then and 1620. And Draal is an adult in modern day but is rather impulsive and I do not know if that is simply a troll trait or the trait of a twenty something year old that should've had a different design in the past but couldn't because of the limitations of 3D show animation (Prime fans would know or at least see visually that you can't just design a cybertronian version of a bot's root mode without things getting expensive, it's why Skyquake couldn't fly despite looking the same before and after alt mode acquisition).
Speaking of age, this is also the time where Aaarrrgghh!!! was a teenager, which either means that Blinky is actually much younger than Aaarrrgghh!!! or there is another Trollhunter or few between Araknak the Agile and Tellad-Urr the Terrible; 5200 years is a lot of grounds to cover, especially with a Trollhunter dying of age between it. Tellad-Urr has an appearance similar to Kanjigar, and given that it's a book cover rather than a 3D model there may be grounds for him being of the same tribe as Kanjigar if not an ancestor like Araknak to Blinky. It could work give or take, especially since 'ancestor' is less of an official word and more of a footnote for someone's opinion, but it isn't word of god nor anything found in any media.
And keeping with age (last one I promise) Gorgus the Gorgeous, referenced in terms used by modern trolls 'By Gorgus' or 'Great Gorgus', was one of the youngest Trollhunters to be chosen. Whether he was younger than Jim Lake Jr, 16 years old at his time of getting the amulet, depends on what the hell the age of 24 fucking means to a troll. Is it the equivalent of 24 years in troll years? If so then why the hell does he begin training 32 troll years later at age 56 if he wasn't chosen to have the amulet at 24 human years old. What is 24 human years to a troll. NotEnrique, a changeling (troll whelp cursed to change into a human, can do so at will) is canonically a few centuries old, and he is fresh from the Darklands after replacing a human baby Enrique. He at a few centuries old is able to throw and host a troll party at his age, and maybe changeling's age differently and a changeling hosting a troll party would be very new because haha discrimination, but no troll flinches at the concept. And a few centuries could be considered more than 2 (being a few it's already more than 1) so the more centuries you tack on to this college type frat party host the more and more Gorgus' age becomes terrifyingly young like exorbitantly so.
If a few centuries means 'ability to host a party where full grown trolls do keg stands' then 24 probably means whelp, baby, a fucking toddler by troll standards, assuming changelings follow troll aging standards against their human mimicking physical development standards. If a 24 year old Trollhunter is only ONE OF the youngest Trollhunters, who was the youngest? Predestined at bloody birth!? Gorgus started training at age 56, presumably when he was old enough to wield a sword, being trained by none other than Kanjigar himself; Gorgus died during training when a group of Gumm-Gumms attacked, an arrow hitting him in the head. If NotEnrique was an adult, or at the very least on the cusp of it, at a few centuries old - more than 1, probably more than 2 - then what of someone at age 56, less than a few centuries, less than one. Whether Kanjigar was a father at the time or not, loosing a kid under his guidance - to death no less - would've stuck with anyone. Why was this child sentenced to death, and so young too. One can argue all the Trollhunters to failed to live up to legacy, who became their own version of Unkar the Unfortunate, were sentenced to death and fated to die young. Gogun may have defied fate and beat the ticking clock, but Gorgus the Gorgeous - a gorgeous child, a son to parents that will never see their little boy again - proved that there is no outrunning the clock for the bells toll for thee.
If Unkar was before Gorgus, then it is to be presumed that by dying on his first night - after 6 hours of training - that Gorgus the Gorgeous was failed by Blinkous in the same way Unkar had been. The next Trollhunter in line was summoned too soon, so because of Blinky's failure the trolls against Gumm-Gumms were without a defender, potentially reducing the remaining candidates for better trainers by slaughtering them before the Trollhunter was of age. If Unkar was after Gorgus, then Kanjigar needed to step away from training, even as it was his task given to the aging elder Rundle, potentially a younger but very busy Vendel, an elder by proxy of everyone else dying on the edges of Gumm-Gumm blades. He couldn't sacrifice another child to death, and as the amulet falls onto the arrogant overconfident Unkar, Kanjigar could not bare to have stone dust on his hands again. Blinkous Galadrigal (there is no mention of Dictatious despite the presence of Gumm-Gumms in Unkar's time) is tasked to train Unkar, to teach him the tennants of Trollhunter and put to good use his scholarly teachings and pray that the soul of his Trollhunter ancestor guides him. Unfortunately - as Unkar will be enshrined in by title - you cannot let a scholar do a warrior's duty.
However way it plays out, Blinky was young (or at least younger), and his failure marked his reputation for centuries.
There is a Grimbald the Grave, trained with Kanjigar AND Deya, which would definitely place that before 1620 and potentially before 1578; Voltar wasn't mentioned to have been trained by either, but given that he was the last Trollhunter before Deya (at the very least in close proximity), Grimbald most likely came before. Now this seems like a non-issue, if you consider Grimbald against our timeline nothing seems to be wrong, potentially Kanjigar's age since he's been around for a while but his son's an adult in the modern day so he could potentially be older than Blinky who knows. But I have an elephant to address and since it's been so long since I brought it up it's been drinking tea this whole time.
Wizards, the third installment of the Tales of Arcadia series, sequel to Trollhunters, introduces to audiences that Deya the Deliverer was originally Callista the Calamity, a troll who's tribe had been wiped out by humans and had been living in human custody since she was a whelp (or of an age that she had forgotten her name). Deya makes the timeline such a mess, because her first appearance in the comics, she was of an age where Rundle - Vendel's father - was the elder of Glastonbury Tor Trollmarket at the time of Deya, the Trollmarket before Dwoza which is the Trollmarket before Arcadia. Rundle was around in 501 AD, but it was his father Kilfred who was the elder and his son Vendel was of age enough to help in consulting, however old that is. In Wizards however, Vendel was the elder of Dwoza before Deya was Deya and when Callista was still an outcast, and even then he was only the elder by proxy, signs of his father Rundle or of Kilfred missing. Of course however Rundle could have been elder of Dwoza, as his father before him was elder of Glastonbury Tor, simply that he was potentially slain potentially died of old age and that Vendel being one of the few older than most of the Dwozan trolls took over in his father's stead.
The issue with Deya is that I really like the Callista part of her backstory, of being an outsider, an outcast, in the world of trolls that still hated humanity but held a deeper fear of the Gumm-Gumms. Diaspora for trolls, Callista the Calamity is seen as a human pet despite her wanting to find her way home, a home she can never go back to because it had been destroyed long ago; the one place that she could be accepted don't because they see her as too human, a far cry to being called a monster by humans but certainly not relieving. But she had become Deya, and found her footing as the Deliverer, by turning the Trollhunter from a single force to fighting alone to rallying a bunch of... gravellors? (Whatever, I like to think of Dwoza as essentially a refugee tribe given it's diversity in comparison to the Krubera tribe who are only krubera and the Quagawump tribe who are only - save for the generic troll king Angor killed - quagawumps) to fight one last fight against the Gumm-Gumms and ending the War for the Surface Lands.
...SO... that probably means that Grimbald was trained exclusively by Kanjigar after the whole Unkar and/or Gorgus ordeal and eventually got the Trollhunter's amulet himself when Deya was slain, her sacrifice delivering the migrating trolls of Dwoza a chance to get to the New World (or the Americas). Oh and their migration was after Vendel and some king wrote a truce called 'The Pact', which - I mean - it's described as a feeble truce and with a name like that I don't blame it, where they promise to stop eating humans and limited their diet to cats and used clothes which well- they might've broke on the journey to the New World because hiding in the cramped ballast of a 1600s era boat isn't fun nor is it fast. But regardless-
I think for a sense of cohesion, let me pull out an almost timeline for this post.
Trolls who had previously been in the Darklands somehow get to the surface
Tensions between trolls and the already present humans grows beginning the War for the Surface Lands
The intensity of the war corrupts the first Heartstone, giving birth to Gunmar
A young wizard Myrddin creates the Amulet of Daylight and gifts it to the good trolls
Spar the Spiteful gets the amulet. He dies 5200 years ago
Boraz the Bold gets the amulet. He dies to Bular, Gunmar's son.
Maddrux the Many gets the amulet
Magmar the Molten, the first mountain troll Trollhunter, gets the amulet
Araknak the Agile, ancestor to Blinkous and Dictatious Galadrigal, gets the amulet
Tellad-Urr the Triumphant, turned Tellad-Urr the Terrible, gets the amulet. He is killed in 501 AD
Gogun the Gentle gets the amulet.
Orlagk the Oppressor is slain by Gunmar. Gunmar loses an eye
Gogun dies of old age.
Angor Rot makes a pact with the Pale Lady, trading his soul for her magic
Unkar the Unfortunate gets the amulet. He dies 6 hours later
Gorgus the Gorgeous, one of the youngest Trollhunters, gets the amulet. He dies at age 56
Grimbald gets the amulet
Voltar the Voracious, born of two minds, gets the amulet in 1578. He dies to Angor Rot and his soul is stolen
Deya the Deliverer, previously Callista the Calamity, gets the amulet
The Battle of Kilahead Bridge is fought. Gunmar is defeated and the Gumm-Gumms (+ Dictatious Galadrigal) are trapped in the Darklands
Deya dies against Bular, last remaining Gumm-Gumm on the surface, in 1620
Kanjigar the Couragous, trainer of many Trollhunters, gets the amulet. He dies to Bular in 2016
James Lake Junior gets the amulet, and the events of the series take place
So, members of the Trollhunter fandom, how'd I do? If you stuck around this long, welcome to my gimmick, long posts :)
Hoo boy how should I tag this?
#trollhunters#toa#rambling#headcanon#idk this is a timeline rewrite but not a rewrite yaknow#like i'm interested in what the book timeline might have to offer#but idk#this took me several hours to write#give or take 4 hours maybe#not every trollhunter in the history of trollhunting is named because not every trollhunter has been listed#and kanjigar is only noted as the trainer of trollhunters because he's the one trollhunter to have experience with trollhunting i suppose#also- its one thing to have longevity as a species (i come from the transformers fandom those robots are fucking old)#it's another to have fathers and ancestors and dying of old age without considering how that shit works#like the oldest lived troll is in the 5 thousands right? is it the equivalent of 100 years old for humans?#like is the typical age of an elder troll 4000? is it just as likely they might cark it at 3000?#that's 80 and 60 in human terms- maybe the common age of an elder troll is 3500 at a human 70 equivalent#24 years in comparison to 5000 years is like a 6 month old human baby#56 compared to 5000 is 1 year old but surely that is not the case#trolls are apparently born egg-like... as egg-like taking a piece of each other literally and putting them together as one object#that eventually hatches into a troll whelp is egg-like... the parts i mean are heartstones which i think are hearts#draal is described to have hatched this way with ballustra and kanjigar splitting their heartstones#what the hell are gronknuts then meta answer kicking people between the legs is integral to kid comedy#okay i'm going to stop looking at my screen i don't have a mirror but my eyes feel like they're red

Sonic 06 was like
It's like a
A reverse fairytale or something
Sonic is a hero rescuing the princess from the likes of boss battles named after mythical beasts like Egg Cerberus and Egg Wyvern, and in the end, SONIC is the one saved by the PRINCESS.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Elise was using chaos energy to help bring him back to the land of the living, and y'all had to go and make this gross somehow by saying she was kissing a dead animal or whatever, as if it would have been any better of a situation if any other of your preferred OTP compliant characters were in her place here.
Tumblr media
Sonic was basically Sleeping Beauty or Snow White here and Elise was the royalty that woke him up, it's a spin on the classic fairytale setting, and y'all still ain't seing that yet even though it's been 16 years now.
Instead of the hero saving the princess in the end, it's the princess saving the hero.
Elise was having to attend a festival as part of her royal duty, that was celebrating a deity that her dad died trying to clone to harness time so they could see her dead mom again, and she was left an orphan at age 7 and had to take on the royal responsibilities at that age and couldn't feel intense emotions or the seal that was keeping that monster at bay that killed her dad was going to be let loose like some Naruto level logic and destroy the whole city, and this girl was probably just wanted to go back to her room so she didn't have to think about how she probably wasn't ever allowed to grieve for her dead parents because I'm sure the festival was probably not fun for her in reality, then this crazy guy with this big mustache shows up to blow up things and wants to kidnap her for the Chaos Emerald she has ((which, mind you, was given to her via some time trickery by Silver as a "lucky charm" shortly after her dad was killed in the lab accident)), and suddenly this cool carefree guy shows up, whisks her away to safety and does so without asking for anything in return just because he wanted to help her, so of course she gets a fleeting crush on the guy because she's a freaking teenage girl who's hasn't had a chance to sort her emotions before, and yes, she does confirm that before Sonic showed up, she never got to be "myself, a girl" before, so her level of "attraction" to him is purely parasocial at this point and she works out of it by the end when she realizes that she's being selfish for wanting to hold onto the ruined timeline because otherwise would mean they would have never met and this whole adventure was going to be forgotten, but then the game ending and ending theme suggests that the memories still exists in thier hearts and that perhaps that moment they lock eyes at the end for the briefest seconds was thier souls remembering that they were friends in another time, and also, Elise like died in at least three of the timeline offshoots trying to defy Eggman's plan for the greater good, so cut the girl some slack, she's like 17 and a kid, and just let her peck Sonic for a moment as a gesture of the importance of thier bond while trying to call his spirit back to his soulless husk of a body.
Tumblr media
Time is literally collapsing on itself because Solaris is eating that up like a Sega GameGear with a fresh pack of AA batteries. They're all gonna disappear into the void if Sonic doesn't wake up, just let her have this, it's covered by blinding light anyway.
Like geeze, sorry it wasn't Shadow or Amy doing this or whatever, I guess.

What's dunamis, in your words? For the uninitiated
So, with apologies for watering down an already watered down scientific metaphor, there's an anecdote that comes up a lot if you read any sort of pop science books on quantum theory or physics, wherein a professor burns a sheet of paper and tells a class, "All of the information on the paper still exists in the ashes," because in theory, quantum information cannot be destroyed. This analogy is super metaphorical, generally referring to the idea that, for example, anything that gets pulled into a black hole is not in fact lost, it's just beyond our reach, with the understanding that "information" is a highly broad term applied to many, many things and in this realm of physics it has a very particular meaning that most people do not consider when they hear the word 'information,' but this isn't a semiotics lecture.
Anyway, as such, it gets completely misconstrued as the idea of quite literally being able to reconstruct whatever notes or ideas were recorded on that paper, which is not accurate in real world physics. Information as ideas and concepts are not recorded in subatomic particles, at least not in anyway we can access or reconstruct.
However... it could be true in an arcane system, if you wanted it to, cuz why not! And given dunamis's impact on probability, and pulling from alternate timelines and potential, as well as the fact that consecution suggests souls are held within a beacon and then put back into a newly-born body, I'm essentially of the mind that dunamis could take the place of those subatomic particles and, when manipulated in the arcane sense, can be used to essentially reconstruct conceptual information of the universe. (That's the very basic idea, anyway, and I'm just using this for fic fodder, but if you are interested in wading through a very introspective chunk of fic for more, it's mostly in here.)
Which is just slightly to the left (and essentially could be a next possible conjecture) of what Caleb described.

Kraang Prime having possession of Leo.. the team's leader, strategist, portalist, AND moral booster in other words the team's Soul..
Like we all know that Donnie's the brains, Raph's the brawn, Mikey's the heart..
But you can always live without one of those things but a soul? The spirit? Your basically Dead if you lose that. Theres a reason dead people are deemed 'lifeless' and/or 'souless'.
And Leo is obviously the Soul or at least the spirit of the team heck his ninpo was literally a blue flame in the middle of all the others ninpo, a very common depiction of what a soul looks like.
If the team looses the soul... Ooh boy.
(gonna go back to the brain, brawn, heart, soul thing) we can actually see the characters/team survive or live without one of those heck 2 of them even. But you wanna know what made it to the end? Heart and soul. The 2 key factors, as long as the soul lives, there is still a chance. Both brains and brawn can be obtain from training/practice/studying etc, heart although is important to make peace and empathy/understanding other emotions, you can still live without a heart (villain literally exist, heck kraang is the best example of that, they're heartless)
A soul though.. a soul cannot be obtained from practice like brains or brawn. You can live without a heart, but you can't live without a soul. Heck the soul is the basis for the heart.
So i find it very interesting that in the bad timeline, both brains and brawn are gone. But the Soul and Heart is still around. And in the end. The soul died the last.
P.S i am so sorry this got so long, the premis of Leo being possessed by Prime is very interesting to me, and how.. really screwed the family in reality actually is. Fighting someone who knows them more than themselves. They might not be able to beat him. But, maybe they can make him beat himself? :)
bro don't apologize I LOVE long asks that are basically mini thesis. keep!!!them!!!coming!!!!!!!!!!
but YESSS to all of this!!!!!
the absolute lowest point in the story is when Prime fully takes over, locks Leo away, and reveals themselves to the fam
and yeah, you're right. out of those four things, everyone puts so. much. emphasis on the soul. hell if you look it up, there are so many quotes that say that you're not alive if you don't have a soul (and it's true. like you said, a person can live without the heart, the brain, and/or strength, but the soul is what makes a person a person)
it's the biggest (and main) reason why prime chose leo. they were there when Leo broke Raph out of the mind control, and when Leo helped the others get their ninpō back
prime knows the best way to destroy a revolution is to eliminate those who can keep that flame of inspiration going, those brave brave souls who the people look up to and see hope

I have a question about Arc 2 and Infinite Iroha (I can’t bring myself to read the story myself because the concept of someone being erased from existence like that makes me too sad). Is there anything that could have been done in-universe so that Iroha didn’t have to become Infinite Iroha and be erased?
It's hard to answer this since all I have are the chapter summaries to go off of and not an actual translation that I can read line-by-line. Also tbh I still don't 100% understand the final chapter in all its nitty gritty details-- I have a good idea of what happened, but I don't want to dig in too deeply into it because I feel like that'll spoil it slightly for me when it actually gets a translation I can watch.
That being said, I think I still might be able to answer this...? But it's two separate answers:
Answer One: No.
Tumblr media
Iroha realizes in this final chapter a very sad truth-- in every timeline except for this one, she dies. This is the only one where she lives. And fate has come to balance its checkbook.
Before anything else, I want to quickly point out that Iroha being Kimochi-fied isn't actually what erases her-- she was able to be a Kimochi ver when she helps Rabi not destroy everything after all:
Tumblr media
This form of hers is just Iroha, Ui, and Little Kyubey all combined into one being.
The reason she's erased is... uh.... actually I can't really give a solid answer to this, beyond that she's put a lot of burden on her soul-- she took in the Mirrors Witch out of compassion to show the witch (which is the amalgamation of many magical girls and their pain) a miracle. She then rewound time so that the fight never happened, erasing the witches' minions. Then she had to undo the uwasa-ification of all the magical girls which is apparently a mega burden on her soul, and I think it's implied she's doing other things behind the scenes.
In a way, it's very Madokami of her, but to a lesser scale. After all, Madokami was forgotten by everyone except for Homura, and Iroha is "only" forgotten by non-magical girls. Everyone else still remembers her, even if they can't see or interact with her anymore.
Tumblr media
(It's also kind of implied she might be coming back, but it would be far off in the future...? I'm not really sure.)
In a way, this is the kindest kind of "death" Iroha could have been offered, and when you compare it to Madoka, Iroha had a much gentler version of being erased. Her friends still remember her and Iroha isn't alone-- she still has Ui, Little Kyubey, Sakurako, Touka, and Nemu by her side. Her friends still visit her by Sakurako's tree, and even if they can't communicate, they can be alongside one another.
It's interesting when you think about it. Iroha, the girl who could only live in one timeline, became Infinite. In some ways she was erased, in some ways she was stamped into time permanently, so that she can never be truly gone.
So in one sense, I think that Iroha can't have been saved. It was her fate, something like this was going to happen to her all along. She's stubborn about wanting to help everyone, and she has her own version of a happy ending, even if bitter sweet.
...
However...
Answer Two: Yes
See, there's another thing here. Magia Record, at it's core, is not a story about how one special fated girl is able to save the world. The series' themes are baked right into its gameplay-- connects are a big feature, teambuilding is important, and synergy is important.
This story is always stressing that connection, friendship, companionship, and understanding are what saves lives, not solo acts of greatness. When a girl tries to abandon it all and forsake the world, her friends come to pull her back. When a character feels like her destiny is too much and she can't possibly do it, her burden is carried by those around her. And these characters repeatedly learn that lending out a hand to someone else also in turn saves them.
Arc 2 has a lot of darkness, but a lot of light. Characters die, but characters are also saved-- morally gray characters are redeemed to the point of frequent fan frustration in fact. However, I think this is a deliberate choice of the writers-- it's very clumsily done in some ways so don't get me wrong, but I don't think it's a matter of the writers being too scared or cowardly to make a character actually evil or to let a character be irredeemable by the text (to be clear, you might disagree with the text and the actions of its characters but I'm talking about what the text states itself).
Arc 2 says that suffering causes suffering and that understanding and connection is what will save its characters. It says that everyone deserves a chance at redemption. It says that no one should be left alone.
...
Which makes the whole Iroha thing kinda weird, doesn't it?
Every faction leader has to learn something in arc 2. Every faction leader has to change in some way, to amend their thinking. Each faction leader needs to be saved by their own faction in many respects, and the connections and friendships they built are what make them saved.
So the question is: how has Iroha changed?
I think Iroha starts and ends arc 2 in a similar way-- she wants to save everyone. She starts off not wanting anyone to suffer and she ends it the same way. She retains her stubborn nature. In the end, she makes the decision to take on all the pain and suffering and deal with it on her own.
Ui, Little Kyubey, Touka, Nemu, and Sakurako are there. But this isn't Iroha getting saved from her fate like how Himena was saved by Sasha. This is Iroha falling in lockstep with it.
I think the answer to your question would be that Infinite Iroha shouldn't be Alone Iroha, but saved by those around her. An Iroha who let herself be saved instead of trying to save everyone else.
If Arc 3 does actually happen, then I think it might be something along these lines-- a story about how you don't need to take all the burdens in on yourself. Everyone else was able to change, and Iroha could too.
-
Anyways that's my long-winded answer. Sorry if this doesn't make sense, I can't sleep and it's hard to articulate.

Nie-Centric Ideas, Part One
Nie Huaisang becomes immortal by unknown means to see his brother's soul safely back into reincarnation. Though he hasn't forgiven Jin Guangyao he figures karma can take over from here and releases him too.
The world is changing. The number of ghosts and monsters to be fought is declining, and the sects are becoming less needed. Everyone he knows has either passed back into the cycle or gone to explore.
He has other plans. He knows that if he doesn't stop himself, he will search endlessly for his brother's reincarnations, and Da-ge deserves better than to be saddled with him ever again in any fashion. Moreover, with fewer ghosts and criminals to feed on, the sabers in the tombs are getting restless.
Since his ascension has only amplified the resentment within him, it's easy to kill two birds with one stone. Sealed away in the tomb by his own doing, he sleeps, and the sabers sleep with him, their spirits quietly fading away one by one from the effects of the arrays he painstakingly painted on stone and cloth and flesh.
After hundreds of years, he and Baxia are the only ones left, still sleeping hidden away from a world that has entirely forgotten they ever existed.
Until someone breaks the seal.
----------
One of the basics of comic books is that time travel usually doesn't work because it doesn't fix the timeline you came from, it just splits off a new one. Imagine Nie Huaisang having this realization after several failed attempts and having a massive breakdown at the knowledge that he inadvertently created and condemned multiple versions of the brother he wanted to save.
----------
Imagine that after the bonfire incident, Nie Mingjue knows he went too far, but he can't just say it. He can't let himself be that vulnerable when it already feels like everything's crashing in on him. The thought of replacing what was destroyed comes to him, but then he remembers Jin Guangyao making the same offer and he's angry all over again.
But he can't just let this go, he hurt the most important person in the whole world to him.
And then three days after the funeral, a package arrives addressed to Nie Huaisang. It’s a full set of expensive pigments and the most beautifully made brushes he's ever seen.
Swamped in grief and his own guilt, he can't bring himself to use them.

Imagining post-canon in which Nie Huaisang is trapped in a Black Mercy-style spell that gives someone a dream of the life they'd always wanted in exchange for feeding off them. Just as the others (nebulous handwave as to who's there) are getting ready to try and break it, the spell shatters, overcome from the inside.
Someone, maybe Zizhen because none of the grownups want to talk about it, gently prodding a recovering Nie Huaisang as to how he got out on his own so easily.
He shrugs. "The spell was too outlandish. I figured out everything was fake almost immediately."
"Because... Chifeng-zun was alive?"
"Hm... no. No... that was at least plausible, if things had gone differently. No, it went too far by having me be married."
"To whom?"
"Doesn't matter. Even in an ideal world, it would have never been an option," he mutters dismissively, then has a servant escort Zizhen out.
Of course, Zizhen isn't just gonna let that go. Now he has a mystery to solve!

Imagine that when Nie Mingjue is having really shitty near-deviation days, he has to seek out, not damaging, but just weird stimuli just to be sure his senses are still working. Like putting honey on a pork bun then dipping the whole thing in vinegar, just to see if he can still taste it.
----------
So many sad Nie Huaisang ideas involve him giving away or selling his birds...
...what about a horror variant where he's found eating them?
And he has no idea. Completely checked out from reality.
Trauma? Possession? No longer entirely human? So many options.
----------
Nie Mingjue stress eats, Nie Huaisang stress cooks, but their idea of stress food is diametrically opposed so Nie Huaisang ends up having to give away all his hard effort (not that their friends mind at ALL) because Da-ge won't eat anything but raw veggies! The nerve!
----------
Happy ending Orpheus and Eurydice-style story where after several reincarnations, Nie Mingjue starts getting his memories back and realizes that, since the more impact a person has on your life, the more likely you are to meet them again, and yet he has never seen his brother since that first life, Nie Huaisang must not be reincarnating. So he decides that either through magical means or just straight taking his own life, he's going to find his brother and pull him back into the reincarnation cycle.
----------
In a timeline where Jin Guangyao kills Nie Huaisang either because he caught on to the revenge plan or for some other political reason, it proves to be a huge mistake.
Because their mutual hatred of him caused the Nies' souls to be tethered in death and vengeful ghost!Nie Huaisang was able to find his da-ge's pieces much quicker than he ever would have been able to while living.
Now Jin Guangyao has two monsters out for his blood.
