Strawberry Cream Cheese
Pairing(s): Sam Winchester x little sister!reader, Dean Winchester x little sister!reader, lil cameo of Claire Novak x reader (platonic)
synopsis: A day in the bunker with the boys
a/n: Girly reader, younger but like teenager age, takes place in no specific season, but like they all have up to date phones and stuff like that. Also this is a WIP and not proof read at all lolz <3
warnings: None
Hope you enjoy! :D
You were laying in bed listening to music, like classic lady gaga, Government Hooker, Americano, and Judas, while scrolling on your phone when you hear a knock on your door.
"Yeah?" You ask which is an invitation for the person on the other side of the door, presumably your brother, to open it. To no one's shock or surprise it's Dean.
"Hey kid, Sam's making breakfast do you want any?" He asks, his voice still laced with sleep, he probably just woke up.
You fell into the habit of getting up when Sam did so you could get ready for school, Sam was your personal alarm clock on school days and Dean was your personal chauffeur because Dean never trusted those school buses. But that's beside the point, you were used to waking up at the crack of dawn so you've been up for a while.
"Yeah, uh, just a begal and strawberry cream cheese" You respond as you pull yourself out of bed and stretch a bit.
Dean nods, "Alright kid, also change that music put on some good shit not this-" you cut Dean off with "Whatever old man" and Dean lets out and airy laugh and closes the door probably heading back to the kitchen where Sam was.
...
Once you put on something for the day you pause your music. Slide your phone into one of your pockets and head out into the hallway and to the kitchen. Sam was over the stove probably cooking eggs for himself and Dean, the toaster on and Dean with his head in the fridge.
You walk over to the kitchen table and sit down, you leg your legs across the bench and pull out your phone and you get a text from Claire.
Claire : Morning, going on a hunt, just wanted to let you know
You : Good Morning, have fun on the hunt!
Claire : Will do nerd
You : Knuckle Head
A plate clatters onto the table and you put your phone away and its your toasted bagel that Sam places in front of you and Dean sits across from you putting two plates down, one in front of him and one next to him. You gran the strawberry cream cheese container and open to find no cream cheese and you frown.
"What's wrong Bami?" Sam says kinda jokingly, it's the nickname Crowley gave you when you first met him with the brothers, it wasn't your proudest moment because you tripped in front of him, hence the nickname.
"We're out of Strawberry cream cheese" You say with a small huff and take a bite of your dry but good bagel.
"Damn, I think that calls for a food restock" Sam says, Dean and I agree.
Sam gets up from the table and grabs a notepad and pen from the junk drawer and walks back over to the table and sits down. He tosses me the notepad and pen, I scribble down food we need and other stuff while I eat. Once I think it's good I click the pen closed and Dean grabs the notepad off of the table and I continue eating.
"Nope, not buying *snack food* for you again" Dean said looking at the list.
"That was one time Dean! Plus you put it in the back of the cabinets, me and object permanence don't mix!" You sam with a huff and cross your arms.
"Fine, we'll get it but actually eat it this time" Dean says handing the list to Sam, you smirk getting up from the table and put your dishes in the sink. You hear Sam write down some things.
"Alright we'll let Dean finish eating breakfast, I'll wash the dishes and then we can head out" Sam say with a smile, I nod and head to the 'Dean Cave' because it has a bigger tv then in my room.
...
After a while you get a text from Sam.
Sam : Come on kid, we're heading out
You get up from the small love seat you were relaxing on and head to the main area. Sam and Dean were at the 'mission' table.
Sam was on his laptop and Dean was scrolling on his phone. Sam notices you first and shuts his laptop which makes Dean look up from his phone. Sam gets up from the table, Dean puts his phone in his pocket and pulls his keys out of his other pocket and jingle's them.
"Are lets get goin you two" Dean says with a smirk. You and Sam nod and follow Dean out to the garage and all pile into the Impala. You in the backseat, Sam and Dean in the front.

MHA 2.14 - Bizarre! Gran Torino Appears - part 3
This is my first time watching this show so no spoilers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The thought process of a high school boy. Go jumpy jump = be cool. He is such a doofus here. I love him.
Tumblr media
Deku’s parkour game still need a lot of work. Something that I love about shonen anime in general is the time the story gives to training. The hero’s are always shown putting in the hard work to earn their strength.
Tumblr media
Me as f*ck. Every morning of my life as I drag myself out of bed feeling busted. However, Deku’s exhaustion is more valid since he has been hardcore parkour-ing all night long. Who knew that being like a bouncy ball would be the key to being the next #1 hero.
Tumblr media
This had me snickering. I know it is not Gran Tostito’s intention, but my dirty mind cannot help it. I mean, All Might’s big buff body sure is a redeeming feature. And Deku’s face is too funny, like he can’t process All Might having flaws.
Tumblr media
All Might’s predecessor? I NEED TO KNOW MORE RIGHT NOW! MHA loves to tease with little hints and then it makes you wait to find out. People have told me that I have to wait multiple seasons to learn certain things and I am DYING. I better not have to wait too long to get info on the predecessor.
Tumblr media
This is it. His brain finally broke from the pressure. It was only a matter of time. RIP to Deku’s brain. F in the chat for Deku’s broken lil’ noggin. This is what lack of sleep and too much parkour gets you.
Tumblr media
Ha! I have no comments this is just funny as hell. This show has pretty great humor in general. When this show was recommended to me initially I was told that it has fun characters and action, but no one told me that the comedy beats are pure fire.
Tumblr media
Baby is having a breakthrough moment. He has been using OFA like a battering ram, just brute force, which works well for All Might, but it does not suit Deku’s abilities as much.
Tumblr media
I am EXCITE! Deku has so much creative intelligence and I feel like him using OFA more strategically will have amazing results. I cannot wait to see how he develops his quirk if he internalizes the power as his own and develops his personal style. Not just copying All Might.

Omg, now u got me thinking about lil 2-3 year old Marcel holding his bby brother for the first time and the tender moment lasts like five minutes before Porco screams or spits up or takes a really loud shit and Marcel's like "Mama, put him back!😫"
Toddler Marcel wakin up from a nap when he hears the commotion at the front door. His gran was looking after him while his parents were at the hospital. He's been prepped on the fact that he was going to be getting a sibling but that does NOT look like any baby he's ever seen:
Tumblr media
And then the lil swaddled troll doll refuses to stop squirming and Marcel can't get the best hold--though his mom is right there beside him to make sure he doesn't drop Porco.
Luckily within a couple weeks things have settled between them. Porco still cries sooo much more than Marcel ever did, but Marcel has to admit he's not so bad when he's sleeping. 😕

Diary of an Intermittent Runner Weeks 18, 19 and 20
Yet another delayed post - hopefully, when this years exams are out of the way, I will be a little bit more reliable.
Firstly, following on from my last update, I am really sad to say that Laura Nuttall died in the early hours of this morning. Glioblastoma is such a cruel disease, but Laura was a true inspiration for the way in which she dealt with everything that she faced. My thoughts are with Nicola, Mark and Gracie at this time.
I don't think anything can prepare you for having cancer or watching a loved one with cancer. I can distinctly remember a conversation with a close friend when there was a local, quite high profile, news story about a young boy with a type of blood cancer. 'How do they cope?' was the unanswered question at the time. Little did we know that within weeks our world would turn upside-down. Bec and I have talked about this a few times, and we always come to the conclusion that we just had to get on with it. We were like ships passing in the night - I would do the daytime shift and Bec would do evenings in the hospital with James. Poor Dan had to fend for himself - with the amazing support of Bec's Mum and Dad and my Mum at the time.
There are no 'How to' guides or instruction sheets for this. We just had to put our trust 100% in the medical professionals. The majority of the personal support came from the charities. Jen and Tracey, the TCT Nurses at the QE in Birmingham were our rocks. The importance of these charities can never be understated. Without them our story would have been so much different.
The last few weeks have been a bit hectic - at home, we are still in the middle of a building site, and workwise it is the busiest time of the year. My running has been more intermittent than I would like it to be, but this WILL improve over the coming weeks. Since my last update there have been another 3 Parkruns - Worcester Pitchcroft, Edgbaston Reservoir and Oaklands. And the little milestone of my 50th birthday!!!!!
Tumblr media
Pitchcroft was it's usual nice run. I had to do a local one that day as we were then driving down to Devon to celebrate my much, much older cousin's 50th birthday.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The following week it was back to Birmingham and Edgbaston Reservoir Parkrun. Bizarrely, having grown up only a few miles away from Edgbaston Reservoir, it wasn't until I was searching for these Parkruns that I found out that it existed!!!!! A nice two-lap run round the reservoir.
I managed a couple of runs in the following week - including a 10k run around the river in Worcester. My running isn't fast or pretty, but I am starting to feel like it is beginning to improve a little.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This Saturday it was another trip to Birmingham and Oaklands Parkrun. My geography knowledge of that part of Birmingham is shocking to say the least. I was so surprised when I ended up driving through Hall Green to get to Oaklands (it was the correct way before anyone doubts my ability to follow a Sat-Nav!!!!). My Mum grew up in Hall Green and we used to visit my Gran every Saturday. I went down roads that I haven't seen since 1981, form the back of Dad's stuffy red Chrysler Alpine!!!!! A lovely 3-lap (very warm) run. My best effort of the year so far.
The soundtrack for the last few weeks has been:
Sparks - Balls
Sparks - Lil' Beethoven
Sparks - Hello Young Lovers
Sparks - Exotic Creatures Of The Deep
Sparks - The Seduction Of Ingmar Bergman
(Very heavily Sparks based at the moment - one of my little challenges to myself was to do all of their albums before I go to see the live next week. Four to go!!!!!!!!).
Until next time, stay safe (and please share/donate if you can)
Pete xx

top 7 shigaraki MANGA moments, pls? for science
WAH OKAY - most of these (read: almost all) are from the later arcs cause they're fresher in my memory!!
1.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
hi yes, I literally SCREAMED the first time I read these pages oh my GOD. I'm so excited to see them animated, I think horikoshi's tension in this is with the cramped paneling of the first page, the little "touch" speech bubble, and then just the explosion on the second page is BEAUTIFULLY done. these are honestly two of my favourite pages, straight up.
2.
Tumblr media
THIS PAGE............ listen, I know we all turn to mon-chan's death as being the most tragic of tomura's origin, but his MOM'S..... I saw the middle panel before I'd read this arc and it was one of the main reasons I fell in love with tomura. the desperation in that middle panel took my breath away.
3.
Tumblr media
WOWOWOWOWOW when I first saw these panels I had to get up and do a lap around the room I was so !!!!!!! first of all, he's drawn beautifully oh my god - plus, I love the contrast between his expression and izuku's, with izuku's intense fury and tomura's calm resignation. UGH I have plans to colour these panels very soon, I'm so so in love with them.
4.
Tumblr media
honestly, this one just gives me a lil giggle LMFAO I love that he's like "well, shit." and just gets blasted to FUCK. like he truly doesn't even look that pissed to be littered with bullets, poor guy. I also just love how many more video game puns manga!tomura has SKFJKSFM
5.
Tumblr media
oh, hello thesis statement! not much to say to this one other than that he's spitting straight facts!!
6.
Tumblr media
PHEW TAKE 'EM OUT. once again, I love the distinction between panels here, and I LOVE how frantically drawn that last panel is - like you can't even tell where he ends and the destruction begins because he is destruction. this is going to be another insane moment to see animated omg
7.
Tumblr media
... honestly this one's just here cause I don't like gran torino and it's fun to see tomura absolutely BODY him
+bonus:
Tumblr media
I just love his face so much omFG literally sitting over here like "I have no fucking idea what you're talking about, grandpa xx"

Gonna take a page out of the other anon's book and ask you to do all the harry potter questions...
so this took forever, but i’ve finally finished them all (and of course pasting them fucked up the formatting fml) Amortentia: Talk about 3 things you love.
- I love languages, I love being able to see into someone’s soul by talking the language of their heart. I love the different sides of my identity that emerge with different languages, how you can only see fragments of my whole soul without comprehension of each language that forms a part of my heart.
- I love the LGBT community, love feeling free and whole and myself. I love seeing people realise who they are and seeing unabashed, queer love in the face of a world that does not want us. I love seeing that we are stronger together and that no one can take our identities away, no matter how much they try. I love seeing boys fall in love with boys and girls fall for girls for the first time.
- I love the pure, unadulterated joy of learning, of education and finding out something new. The feeling of discovery and the sensation of having accomplished something when you understand a new concept is incomparable.
Ageing Potion: imagine yourself 50-60 years from now. how would you like a typical day to go? where do you see yourself?
In fifty years, my body would be my own, covered in marks from misadventure and splashes of colourful memories. At 61, my kids would be grown up and moved out, my house would be filled with a different kind of sound, with puppies and bunnies and any other pets that fit. I hope I’d have a man to share this life with, we spend our weekends baking and devising obstacle courses for the pets to fall over, getting calls from our kids on how to be an adult (as if we’ve figured that out, even at our age). My sisters still haven’t let go of the habit of calling me a kid, and I try to see them when I can. The seasons change, the leaves fall, and I spend them all, content.
Alihotsy Draught: name and write about a few topics you’re really passionate about.
Oh god we already did things I love though
Lets go specific instead and say fictional characters/ships
Drarry - The lion and the snake clash together, fire and ice raging a passionate war against each other, until they manage to blend their voices into one harmony.
Wolfstar - the dog and the wolf, the moon and the star. Something poetic about their love. Sure, they’ve pushed against it, shouted angry words and slammed doors, but through it all, they gravitate back to each other.
Ballum - by all accounts they shouldn’t work. A criminal and an aspiring cop, they’re a recipe for disaster, doomed to fail. But no-one, not even them, thought that they would become their own priority, above parental expectations, above the world they grew up in. they hold on tight, breathe each other in, relish in their found family.
Antidote to Veritaserum: what is the biggest/most memorable lie you’ve told?
I genuinely can’t think of one at all?? Oh lol not a lie but lie by omission i guess?? The fact that my gran still thinks i’m cishet lolll
Babbling Beverage: what kind of person are you when you’re drunk/hyped up on caffeine?
I’m so fucking affectionate and talkative, i wanna cuddle everyone and I will absolutely tell you my opinions on/feelings about people. I’m a drunk disaster, but a fun drunk disaster. I also find a lot of things funny when drunk, and buy lots of presents for people.
Barufflo’s Brain Elixir: if you could master one skill instantly, what would it be?
Right now the goddamn Russian language so my degree would be easier lol. I’d love to be able to whistle actually, or draw.
Bloodroot Potion: describe a time you felt heartbroken.
Well we’re gonna stick with creative writing so: I had a dream about us, both in matching suits. We were dancing at sunset, holding each other close as the songs played on. I woke up happy and content, and then I remembered that you weren’t mine anymore. You’re dancing with someone else while I sit, sobbing in my bed, longing for what should have been our future. I went through my room, finding every little thing that belonged to you, and put them to one side, in case you ever wanted them back. Holding on to the hope of one last conversation I guess. I miss you, and I hate you. And I love you. It hurts so much, like my heart stayed with you and I won’t last long without it.
Bruise removal paste: after you were heartbroken, what healed you?
The first time, it was love from family and friends and eventually falling in love again. And time. Now, i don’t know what’s gonna finish healing me, but love from other people and the promise that I’m worth more has done a lot to get me there.
Burn healing paste: are you cautious or are you impulsive?
Both I think? I think I could do with being a lil more spontaneous though.
Calming Draught: what do you do on a rainy day?
I like to sit with a cup of tea or coffee, legs under a blanket, watching TV or writing or reading.
Caxambu: Style
I don’t think I have a recognisable style that can be described as anything other than gay.
Borborygmus Potion: what’s your favorite food?
Right now I could really go for roast dinner tbh.  Confusing Concoction: What do you struggle most with?
Prioritising myself and believing in my own worth. Cough Potion: What do you do to get better when you’re sick?
I sleep a lot, and I like to eat chicken soup and have lots of warm drinks. Cure for Boils: Write about three pet peeves.
People NOT WEARING HEADPHONES Hypocrisy Not respecting personal space Death potion: If you were told you were going to die in 24 hours, what would you do?
Depends if I knew the cause of death/if i was infectious or not. If I wasn’t infectious I’d visit as many friends and family as possible, and probably get drunk. Deflating draught: Would you call yourself arrogant/modest?
I like to think I’m modest but then again I don’t think that’s a super modest thought. Developing Solution: What’s the best photo you’ve taken? Which one’s your favorite?
I took a nice one of my uni room, and some good ones at pride. Dogbreath Potion: What superpower would you have and why?
Shapeshifting because my god would that make being trans more bearable. Doxycide: are you more clean or messy?
Messy, but I do like to clean sometimes. Dr. Ubbly’s Oblivious Unction: are you critical of yourself? if you are, how do you want to work on it?
Yes I am, and I try to work on it by talking to myself as I would to a friend or my puppy. Draught of Living Death: How would you like your funeral to go?
I’d like it to be a reflection of me, but equally I’d want it to be good for the people I’m leaving behind - I’d like Bye Bye Darling to be one of the songs though. Draught of Peace: What relaxes you?
Watching familiar TV, listening to dodie, Maisie Peters, Orla Gartland, the puppy sleeping on me, hugs from friends. Drink of Despair: What’s your biggest regret?
Not breaking up with my exes sooner, it would’ve been so much less painful and better all round. Drowsiness Draught: What’s your bedtime routine?
So after my sister and dad go to bed, I stay down with the pup, take her out to the loo, and then sit on the sofa with her sleeping for a bit. Then I put her to bed and tidy a bit, I go up to my room and get into pjs, brush my teeth and wash my face, I put on my dim fairy lights and put on a chill playlist, then sleep.  Elixir of life: Would you rather live five ok/mediocre years or one incredible year?
I think it kinda depends, like it its five mediocre years where each day is mediocre, then definitely one incredible year. Elixir to Induce Euphoria: What makes you feel alive?
Dancing, love, running with the pup. Essence of Dittany: what’s the worst scar you currently have?
I scar quite easily, but they also fade quite well - at the moment I have one on my elbow from catching it on chicken wire. Exploding Potion: Do you like fireworks?
Yeah! They’re super pretty - I prefer the ones without a bang though. Fatiguing Infusion: Describe a recent/memorable dream.
I had a dream about being physically back at uni, it wasn’t super eventful but it was really calming and nostalgic. Felix Felicis: Do you believe in luck?
I guess?? Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent: How do you keep bad thoughts away?
Antidepressants lol. No but if I’m anxious I’ll write out everything I’m stressed about to get it out of my head. If I’m depressed I try to distract myself. Forgetfulness Potion: What is your favorite memory?
Maybe my first time getting drunk, it was the cast afterparty for my favourite show and it was so fun being able to chill with all my friends and being treated like an adult. (Plus it was fucking hilarious watching everyone come to the set strike the next day where most people were hungover as all hell)
My first gay night out was also pretty memorable, if only for the amount I drank lol. Fungiface Potion: What’s the greatest prank you’ve pulled?
Legitimately don’t know if I ever have pulled one? At school we once turned our whole classroom backwards, and at uni my friends and I spent about two years putting any spam mail we got into our friends pigeonhole after he proudly told us how empty he always kept it. That was fun. Gregory’s Unctuous Unction: Describe your best friend(s).
Okay we’re gonna go for 3 people (all of whom have featured in poems of mine) - I started off writing about 5 and then got bored (and also vaguely embarrassed about calling people best friends) so we’re going down to three I’m also gonna make it vague ish So the first is a friend I’ve known for ten years and we’ve been equal parts immature and grown up throughout those ten years - last time I saw her we went to a inflatable park and then to spoons. She’s funny and sweet and chaotic and a lot shorter than I think (she used to be a head taller than me but hasn’t grown since we met, so even though we’re the same height neither of us quite believes it). She’s talented and reliable and So very committed to being a good friend (she drove to pick my ex and I up from a festival so she could meet him and took a 3-4 hour train to come celebrate my 21st). The second is possibly the first friend I made at uni because we bonded over being terrified of going to Russia and now we communicate almost solely through animal crossing. I love her, she’s hilarious, about as much of a mess as I am and an incredibly sweet person. She’s the first person I text in a crisis because she knows the exact right balance of taking the piss and actually helping and is always available to talk in foreign when I need to forget about the people I’m with or avoid an ex lol. The third is one of my favourite people at uni, he’s super supportive and understanding but also the best fucking person for a night out or a laugh. I used to think he was intimidating but honestly he’s just so sweet and has always made me feel welcome in my new year groups and always makes sure I have someone to pre with. Hair-Raising Potion: What scares you?
Fucking clowns man. Also not living life to the fullest, I’m really trying to put myself first nowadays and make sure I’m not staying in bad situations out of anxiety. It’s definitely helped me feel better about myself and have more energy to think about other people as well. Hate potion: If you had to name your worst trait, what would it be?
Either stubbornness or being too self-sacrificing. It’s not a good combo tbh. Herbicide Potion: do you have a green thumb?
I have owned (1) plant and I think I killed it so no. I am absolutely terrified every time my dad asks me to water the garden because I feel like I can only over or under water. Hiccoughing Solution: what’s the funniest thing that’s happened to you?
Funny situations involving me tend to end in injury, maybe when I fell over the tennis net that didn’t even come up to my knees and got stuck in it?  Or when I fell over skiing and couldn’t get up because I’d done a roly poly which ended up with my skis trapped under my back.  Invigoration Draught: how do you wake up in the mornings?
Lately my sister brings the puppy up to wake me up which is nice. Invisibility Potion: What would you do if you were invisible for a day?
Ooh that’s a good question, I think I’d probably take a bunch of photos of me holding stuff and probably scare the shit out of my family. Jawbind Potion: Are you talkative? What do you like to talk about?
Yes, very. I like talking about anything and everything, I love finding stuff out about people, which is part of the reason I do so many of these things. Laugh-Inducing Potion: Tell a funny story.
I am not a very funny person. I don’t have many funny stories!! When I was younger and my mum would get milkshakes and stuff, we were only allowed a glass each (I have 3 siblings) so that we each got the same amount and my sister was being sneaky, tried to drink from the carton to cheat the rule, ended up drinking mouldy milk. Karma. Mandrake Restorative Draught: How long can you stand still?
Probably quite a while, I’ve never thought about it to be honest. Manegro Potion: How do you like to cut your hair? I cut mine myself, I usually leave the top a few inches long, and the back and sides are usually tapered from a 3 to a 1. Mopsus Potion: What do you want to be doing 5 years from now?
Hopefully be working in translation or LGBT activism, living with a flatmate or partner. I’d like to have had top surgery and be acting or stage managing again and playing tennis and maybe football again. Muffling Draught: Favorite genre of music?
Idk, indie pop maybe? Or alternative? Oculus Potion: would you rather see the distant past or the distant future?
Distant future. Pepperup Potion: what makes you feel alive?
Sport, playing with the puppy, talking to friends. Polyjuice Potion: If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I would remove my chest lol.  Quodpot Solution: What’s your opinion on sports (are you a fan of any specific teams/sport)?
Tennis is my favourite sport, I also like football, judo, rounders, swimming, sailing and skiing. Rat Tonic: Do you have any pets?
Yes! I have a tiny bunny called Teddy, two chickens called Miss Sussex and Babs and a boxer puppy called Pickle. Shrinking Solution: How tall are you? Do you like your height (why/why not)?
I honestly don’t know, I think I’m 5’ 3” ish?? After 5’ I just kinda stopped paying attention. I’d like to be taller because it would help me pass better, but I also kind of like my limbs the way they are?? Like additional muscle from T is already making tennis weird to adjust to so I don’t wanna make that worse tbh. Skele-Gro: What helps you feel better?
Hugs, alcohol, chocolate, familiar TV, reading my favourite books. Sleakeazy’s Hair Potion: Describe yourself in 6 words or less.
Queer, loud, chatty, empathetic, caring, stubborn. Veritaserum: What is one truth you’ve wanted to get off your chest?
I wish I had broken up with my exes sooner/not got together with the last one at all. We weren’t a good fit and I like to think we’d still be friends otherwise. Volubilis Potion: Can you/do you like to sing?
I love to sing, I’m decent but struggling to adjust to my voice drop tbh. Wide eye Potion: What time do you usually go to bed?
12/1am, depends on when I take the dog out. Wolfsbane: What’s the biggest change you’ve experienced in the past year? Going on testosterone!

Take me back to the first day and night we spent together.
From the moment I laid my eyes on you in the flesh when picking you up from Hastings train station, I instantly knew I would fall in love with you even more. Having a 6 hour drive home was weird but special because I had the company of you in the back of the car (which thinking about it is my own car now.. 💔) with me. Stopping at Sainsburys and it was just you and me steaming the car up (not like that!) but I was constantly nervous because I was waiting for our first kiss... Wanting to kiss you when no one else was around, but I was too nervous, incase you didn't think it was the right time. Instead we just poked each other and got all nervous and laughed till my mother got back into the car. I can't remember when but we got more comfortable with each other and we interlocked our fingers and held hands and you had your legs resting over mine until a couple of hours later we arrived at Morrisons. My mother went into Morrisons and again it was you and me on the bank, whilst you had a cigarette and I had a few puffs in secret. You finished your cigarette and we hugged, next minute we pulled our heads away from each others shoulders and became so close to one another's face.. At this moment after all those years of knowing each other, we finally kissed.. Everything stopped, time stopped and it felt like I was truly alone with you in my arms. I was thee happiest person alive. Then you gave me a cheeky kiss on my neck which blew me away because I was not expecting that! Hehe.
We then arrived at my house and got all sorted and settled in. The first meal we had was pizza which at this point we were both absolutely nervous of eating Infront of each other, I was particularly nervous incase I got food around my mouth or in my teeth without knowing. Lol. We then went to my grans house where you met her for the first time. We had to take showers there because my house was still being refurbished and stuff. So I found that absolutely nerv wracking incase she could see me naked for the first time without me knowing! (I don't think she has any idea I thought all of this until now 😂). We then went to sainsburys because it was NYE so we bought drinks and I got a lil upset because of something.. But she was there to comfort me. We then got home and started drinking (I now realise I got this all in the wrong order but nvm!) and before we left to countdown the seconds into 2015, I asked you to be my girlfriend or in another words asked if we were together for real hehe..
We arrived for the countdown to 2015 and we kissed, my first ever new years kiss and I'm so happy it was with you. I tried to take a picture but it was all blurred and shit angle but I can still remember how it looked like. Then the fun embarrassing part happened when I mixed drinks before going out.. Got back home and I puked and puked whilst sitting down beside the toilet 😂 I remember you coming to the door and wanting to laugh but you somehow kept it in and said are you okay 😂 I was truly embarrassed, I just met you and you're already seeing me throw up 😂
Not that anyone will read this but I think we met on the 30th so I got all of this wrong but anyway!
I will always remember our first kiss and I will always remember our last... 31/12/14 ♥️
3 years I wouldn't of changed. I love you for eternity and I mean that. We had it good.
I miss you and I miss us.

Dearest Nash, I've touched on this before in (I believe) in a discussion re: why some mainstream fics get oodles of notes while more original ones do not, *but* I wanted to get a bit more specific here. There are certain writers here whose writing has a definite vibe to it (if you will) that separates their work from others, and your name is one of the first that comes to mind. Bear with me, because trying to detail what makes your writing stand out is difficult while trying to articulate a Q

^ this is a gif with parts 2 - 4, just FYI

Hmmm… this is a bit of a brain buster. But I can answer it, and I think succinctly, maybe with a touch of that Spidey sense you mention:
Tumblr media
Thank you for your inquiry, hope that helps!
I kid. But this is a brain-turner. And a characteristic which, like you say, ain’t limited to me. I’d honestly throw comedians under this umbrella, too, not because I’m necessarily gunning for a laugh every time, but because it’s pretty much their job to take a “basic” (a tenet or fact of life or present reality or whatever) and present the observation with a twist. I think of storyteller comedians specifically, your Patton Oswalt-s, Maria Bamford-s, Kathy Griffin-s, and John Mulaney-s.
So if I can sum up, assuming I’m tracking with you, what you’re more or less driving at with the “how” is this –> Is there anything beyond simply personality, or an auto-pilot thought cascade (for lack of better terminology) that contributes? Are there things someone could do/be proactive about, to perhaps cause this same sort of reaction to happen in their brain?
I think there just might be.
Folks reading this, let me ask you a question, and you cannot look it up:
What was the name of the Sherpa guide who led Sir Edmund Hillary up Mount Everest?
.
.
.
His name was Tenzing Norgay.
Nash, what in the name of the frozen corpse of George Mallory does this have to do with Lion’s question?
I shall tell you.
My father told me that fact when I was quite young, so young I legit couldn’t even ballpark my age for you. The context was that having little facts tucked away in your brain may come in handy. Not in a Jeopardy kind of way, more in a conversational way. I’ve no idea why the man thought the Sherpa guide who led Hillary up Mt. Everest would ever come up during a conversation with enough regularity to justify my knowing that fact (aside from him randomly quizzing me throughout my life) but hey, I guess it just did.
But speaking of Lil’ Nash, the situation for her was that she was the eldest of all the Nash litter by miles… like seven or eight years, I’m not bothering to check. So I had a lot of alone time, and my grandmother was my chief babysitter, so prior to kindergarten and then til I was in about second grade (so: all day long during the week, then every weekday after she picked me up from school), I was pretty much always at her house. Yeah, there were toys, but not a lot to do. And I’d read. I’d been reading on my own for a decent while, not because I was some prodigy but because my dad read to me *constantly* when Lil’ Nash was Itty-Bitty Nash, and it “took”. My mom also, every time she went to the grocery store always - and I mean always - brought back a book for me. It might’ve been an Archie comic—-
Mandatory #fuck the CW’s Riverdale tag
—-or a Babysitter’s Club, or Sweet Valley High, Judy Blume, Madeleine L’Engle, Zilpha Keatley Snyder, you get my point. Some small paperback. It would piss Dad off because he’s a cheap bastard and two buck books once or twice a month were really gonna cut into the savings [eyeroll] but also, in a way, because I’d kill it in a half day/a day. Wouldn’t put it down. After awhile, I started writing my own silly little kid stories, then - and this is where the creative writing love came about -  I started writing soap operas for my Barbies. (When I was older - like, 5th grade? 6th grade, maybe? - none of my peers were still playing with Barbies, and I got made fun of when, at a sleepover, they saw my stash. And I was like - No, no, no. Those aren’t for playing. That’s my cast.)
Time went on, and when I was bored at post-church lunch/dinners, I would also read the old encyclopedias at my grandmother’s, the ones from the late ‘60s/early ‘70s that she had for my mom and my aunt. As I got even older and became fascinated with rooting through the boxes in gran’s basement, looking at all the cool old clothes, I stumbled upon my aunt’s collection of Whoa-Hooooo Shit There’s No Way My Grandparents Knew You Read These books. Those kinda Harlequin-esque ones, except my aunt’s tastes run close to mine, none were the same shtick with different covers, shmultzy-sappy romance, there was always some sort of intrigue along with the sexy times, and she also had, like, every legit V. C. Andrews (meaning: not the ones from the ghostwriter, this was way before her death) book.
What is my point? I read a LOT. Now-a-days, other than fanfic (which… straight up: I don’t read a lot of that, either. I peace out on probs 80% of it before the third-to-fifth paragraph. It’s gotta sell me fast, yo) I haven’t read fiction in probably, oh…. 12 years? I think the last ones were the first couple Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. Wait, no! I lie! I read the 50 Shades books when I was traveling 2x/wk for a job about 4 years ago, and I needed the laughs. It worked. Oh my days, that woman can’t write. The screenplay might’ve been worse, it goes her, then Buckleming, then everyone else. It’s bad. In any event, past decade or so, it’s more historical stuff and true crime and science stuff and all that old fart jazz.
Okay, so that’s #1: Read. And not just anything, be well-read, and that doesn’t mean developing some level of expertise, by “well” I’m saying to cover the spread. You’re building your tool kit, is all. You won’t use most of it, but it’s nice to have options. You also don’t always have to get this stuff from reading now-a-days, because podcasts. Cover the spread there, too. Lemme look at my bookmarks….
[Spongebob narrator voice: A few moments later]
I’m back. Science - Skeptic’s Guide to the Universe; General current stuff without being news - CGP Grey’s Hello Internet; current events with shittons of pop culture, past and present - Greg Proops’ Smartest Man in the World; fun history stuff - The Dollop; entertainment stuff - How Did This Get Made.
#2: Keep a notebook with you and jot down turns-of-phrase that spark something in your brain - things you read on websites, on twitter, in articles, things you hear people say (real life, TV, movies, podcasts), and write it. Don’t snap a pic with your phone or make a note in your phone. There are studies behind this, I’m not hunting them down, you’ll just have to trust me, but there are, and it goes to being reflexive, a brain “muscle memory” thing, if you will. You’re not doing it to plagiarize, you’re doing it to dissect it, kind’ve like you did with the example you gave on me —> went from punch action to punch spiked with booze to a punch with a spiked gauntlet.
Which leads to #3: Mental dictionary. I have a large vocab repository, and it stems from the tons of reading - I stop and look up stuff if I either don’t know it, or it’s used in such a way that I think they’ve got it wrong and want to double-check that maybe there’s another usage I don’t know - and also stems from a drive to combat the (still fairly thick) deep South drawl I can’t kick, and not for lack of trying. But see, I couldn’t have whipped out that progression if I weren’t aware that one definition of “spike” is “to add alcohol to”, or of the common shtick in stories of spiked punch like at high school proms typically, or knew about the existence of spiked gauntlets / old school armor.
And I guarantee you that a good chunk of people didn’t really “get it”, and just thought “Nash Be Nashin’, that nutty gal”. So they “get it” on that level, but don’t Get. It., if you see what I’m saying. And that’s fine. Maybe it got something cranking in the back of their mind and it’ll hit ‘em in the middle of the night, or they’ll be watching Game of Thrones or something, see a gauntlet and be like “Oh goddamnit, I just got a throw-a-way one-liner from three years ago” and have a chuckle.
Related, re: looking stuff up and things that people “get”? I didn’t know fuck-all about Twilight, but it seemed of import to the folks around 5 years younger than me, the Nashlings wouldn’t shut up about it, so I got a good working knowledge of it. Same with Harry Potter, and through it I got to “know” J.K. Rowling, who I find to be an exceptional writer, so that was great, and I’ve watched the movies for the most part over the years at Christmastime, and I don’t give the first shit about what “house” I’m in, nor do I care about what Patronus I’d fart, but I have a working knowledge of what those are, and horcruxes and who Snape and Voldie are, you get my point. I can keep up. But to do it, I had to take the time to look it up. One thing I would not trade for gold is Michael Sheen chewing the goddamn scenery in that battle segment from the last Twilight movie. Have I watched the movie? No. But that scene is the shit. And that baby CGI is horrific on several subtle levels. And not-so-subtle. I’ve digressed.
Back to those notes: So if you’ve got these notes jotted, you might see something else and think “I feel like that could’ve been snappier…. why do I think that….” And you’ve got a resource at your disposal, that little notebook. Hell, jot that thing down - things you think could be done better. I have in many documents a highlight around chunks of scenes for my big dog story where it says in bold above or below “DO BETTER”. Meaning: there’s a better way to get from A to B, but I’m just not quite there yet. I’m pretty quick on the uptake and can crank out something snappy on the fly (like say, in CASPN chat or when banging out a short reply or thank you note) but there’s definitely times I gotta slap a DO BETTER on it and walk away til that snappy something-or-other light bulb goes off.
Here’s a recent one where I backtracked, matter of fact - that noir spoof thing I wrote? Along with my co-writer, Moscato? There was a line that I couldn’t hit with a good zinger, so I just said moments were going by like a fat hamster on a wheel, which is cute, but not really grooving with the setting/the vibe. Less tipsy, when I was correcting some inelegant formatting and a misspelling [sigh], I went “Oh! Why didn’t this occur to me last night? Right. Wine.” So the line is now about moments dragging like a rolling donut with a copper on its tail. Get it? The cop’s a fat ass. The donut-cop stereotype.
…….Fine, it ain’t my best, but it fits better. Moving on.
And this leads nicely into #4, and a specific tip I can impart - assuming you’ve got a passable-to-high level of vocabulary in your tool belt, practice messing around with making nouns into verbs, and twisting random stuff into descriptors and using bizarre words/things in metaphors/analogies. Like, I say “adulting” quite a bit. Ali - @littlegreenplasticsoldier - I thiiiink was writing recently about Sam being drunk, and he’s a tall wobbly Jenga tower on his last Jenga. Going back to the noir, pulpy detective style, try messing with the whole “S/he was like a ___ that ____”. Add on to stuff that’s well known - He was like a dog with a bone, if the bone was a ____ and he was a ____ and we were in a ____. (I have *nothing* in mind to fill those blanks, by the way, feel free to twist it into sumpin’)
What else…. okay, here’s a #5: In drafts, let yourself wander, and see what kicks out. It can be fueled by silliness or anger, but I don’t reckon you’re gonna get the “snappy” you’re aiming for if you’re down in the dumps and going full-court-press angst. The best stuff, IMO, comes from the space in between goofy and pissed, and that is The Land Of Snark. You can always re-style it to bend more dry or wistful should you need to, certainly, depending on the situation.
Have a sample of a primo Nash Digression that was fueled by ire in a recap from Season 12 (episode 19). I had said - RE: the random inclusion of the character Joshua, which still pisses me off because they burned a character that held massive potential for future stuff as he’d been shown to be the only angel with direct access to Chuck, so, y’know, that could never come in handy, like ever again in the series, right? - the following.
Mandatory pre-emptive #fuck Dabb

[Spongebob narrator voice] A few moments later —>

On god, I have no idea where that came from, and here’s where we go back to ol’ Spidey up there, because end of the day?
Tumblr media
All that other stuff’s the foundation, sure, but there’s always gonna be the weird iggy, the thing that can’t be learned or taught, whatever the quirky synapse is that fires off in my/our brains. In my experience, it’s an ADD-ish sort of jam mixed with the Nostradamus effect. Meaning, (A) we’re at Level 10, rapid fire thought processing >50% of the time, and (B) throw out enough stuff for long enough, some of it’s going to stick. And I whiff it plenty. Multiple times in CASPN chat I’ve been like “Whoo, tough room” when something falls flat.
A specific example: @mrswhozeewhatsis - and I think you saw this, but anyone else seeing this may not have - gave probably the most fantastic analogy I’ve seen regarding the whole “getting it” thing, and while it was on the topic of meaty plots that get too far into the weeds (my specialty) and how it can lessen appeal to a broader audience, it still applies here.
She said “Sometimes, when I’m reading something of yours, I feel like there’s a joke I’m missing. It’s like watching Spaceballs without having seen Star Wars.” I say that to say - nobody’s gonna land references that cover the spread 100% of the time. And, y’know, fine. I figure maybe it’ll prompt someone to do a quick google for - well, let’s use Spaceballs. Most folks will no doubt get the Star Wars part, but maybe not Spaceballs. Maybe they’ll check it out, find something they enjoy. Or learn a new word. Or get a brainstorm for a story. Who knows?
Last tip: Don’t actively mimic anyone’s style. Much fail. And I don’t only mean because if they’re on a social Venn diagram with you, would likely recognize themselves in your stuff——
Takes a moment to wave to the peeps still trying with me! #bless your hearts
—–but because it’s fucking hard. I did it broadly on the noir thing, that’s not a hard thing, to homage generalities, but the way I’m messing with doing this on that silly Princess Bride series? Purposefully styling it like Goldman? It’s good  challenging and all, and it is making it feel more in the groove with the book/movie, but I have to be in the right frame of mind or it’s like fingernails on a chalkboard, and when I have pushed it, then gone back, it’s sloggy, soggy garbage.
I say all that to say: it’s an amalgam of brain-wiring/personality, and world/life perspective(s), and knowledge acquired over time. The first just is; the second will evolve in myriad ways, maybe for the better, maybe for the worse; the last is the one where you/we have control, we can fill bucket after bucket of information, and the well won’t ever run dry.
Sorry this took so long. I kept adding and subtracting. This is the edited version, if you can believe it. Welcome to Nash Brain. 😉

Ok i'm thinking more about maybe the personality for this protag? Cos it started off simply as 'you are a kid who needs to escape this dungeon, cos adventuree dad/mom/gran/whatever is injured'. Like a protect the parent role reversal thing!! And i don't know much about the parent's personality either yet, just that they'd start off unconcious and be in like a hub area that you keep coming back to, and you could do optional lil sidequests to find stuff to help them out or just have cute family affection moments. Like u could just try every path all in one go and prioritize just finding the exit, but also you could have a lot of sweet lil character moments to make your experience more fun. I'm thinking maybe as an incentive to do that, make it so there's no healing items? Or like you can heal your hp but have a finite amount of MP? So you have to return to the hub area and rest to heal up, and thus you see more of u family and get the cutes moments. Gram gram fusses over u and makes sure youre well prepared for another day of dungeoning!
So anyway what i mean is that all the idea i had of this protagonist is 'they're an ordinary kid' and like.. Nice and cute i guess. I had the bat sidekick a lot more developed cos like lol just being Generally Cute In All Circumstances And Not Much Else is a bit more accepted for a sidekick than a protag. Like seriously personalityless kids always tend to show up when the kid is someone's sidekick, right? I can't get away with that here!
And then the name Tammy sounds cool so i randomly thought maybe she has tomboyish fashion sense i guess and gave her dungearees. Also they're a fun outfit to draw. Poofy trousers physics! Florf florf the farm clothes of underrated cuteness~ So then cos of that I thought maybe she's tough in personality, and i mean that'd make sense for a kid who takes it upon herself to go searching for help all on her own and fight off a bunch of supernatural beasties with a small twig and the power of attitude. Buuuut also if she was like.. Really serious and cynical kind of tough? Like i feel that wouldnt work? I wanted some sort of sunny optimism, i wanted a dynamic with her and the bat bud having lots in common and quickly becoming fire forged friends who totally geek out hyperactive over everything together. And like half their problems come from both of them being easily exciteable and lacking in common sense, so they take dumb risks and stumble into fun mini adventures! A "grumpy one and the cheery sidekick" dynamic is still cute, but its not what i really wanted for this one.
So yeah i wanted a sort of personality thats still adorable and innocent, but also fits as a badass leader type who takes charge while the bat beb is a bit more cowardly. And i was thinking... LOKI?? like a trickster kid!!! Still cute and innocent, like a prankster and a hyperactive rebel but she always has good intentions at heart and is just a lil reckless and weak to her own impulses. And also thatd work good as a way of having her be rough and tumble and fighty while not beibg any sort of battle hardened or serious. She just simply loves adventuring and exploring! And dirt! And throwing that dirt at people, sometimes! And this way she can also be ingenious and think up creative solutions to puzzles, while also being uninterested in boring academic stuff and lacking in common sense. Its like Thinking Is Only Good When Is Thinking Of Prank, Yes? Gotta hate that damn Domesticated Thinking where they squash it in the books and use it for boring NON silly things! Your classic dumb reckless shonen hero but also like she 'could be a genius if she got her priorities straight.
Its also a fun excuse to add more character interaction to the smallest of things, and to have at least one comedy option for everything. I can imagine her basically creating her own puzzles out of simple situations, because the easy option is BORING, yknow? And why would we wanna sneak around this big cool monster instead of fighting??
I was also thinking maybe a running joke of her always telling tall tales? Like i wouldnt really say she's a LIAR, but she likes to joke about everything and make boasts she can't live up to. It could give her a sort of similar charactee development to the old 'tsundere' archetype, without actually being cold. She's just like.. Avoids uncomfortable subjects with class clown behaviour. She'll immediately start goofing around with you like a bff but at the same time she never lets you know anything about her or lets herself be emotionally vunerable in any way. But maybe as she bonds with New Sidekick Monster Pal she could trust him enough to confess that she's genuinely worried about [unnamed parent], and talk honestly about how much she loves them and like.. Whatever their backstory was like before they ended up here in this lil adventure situation. And bat sidekick would also be able to flashback to his own backstory and all that jazz. And they become Even More Fire Forged Friends, United Forever!
So anyway Yeah. Thats why im gonna write a sassy sneaksmaster who jokes all the everyplot. Much more fun than just a standard cute kiddo! :D
Tho i mean not that bat bebby is gonna be boring just because he actualky is the Very Cute And Nice And Does Not Like To Be Mean friend. I just think that in a game with no real huge plotline its important to have a protag with a big kind of personalit who can really take hold od the narrative ans keep you invested, yknow? If i gave this cute lil bro monster pal the narrative he would be like 'oh no i want to share' or like just sit there hugging it XD ...i do love him quite a much too, yes. :3

3 bad qualities: He’s still working past the pride that led him to betray his friends and throw his nation into civil war. Oops. 5 good qualities: He tries to separate his feelings from his job and by having a peaceful mind about being a paladin. It’s a process lol. He’s a lil’ shit who enjoys pranks. He’s super loyal to his girlfriend even after finding out she was the heir to an evil empire. He’s confident and humble enough to accept his mistakes and try to do better. He is super dedicated to his rose aesthetic.
3 bad qualities: He can be a bit manipulative when he wants to be. He can get really self righteous about things. Sometimes his jokes go a bit to far.

Hayseed!Junkrat & Reader | NB Reader | 2798 words | 2/4 [Chapter 1] [Chapter 2] [Chapter 3]  [Chapter 4]
Chores have kept you away, but seeing him again was worth it. Sparks ignite on a beautiful summer night.
Hello lovelies, It’s time for chapter 2! I hope you like it as much as I do! I’m very proud of this chapter.
Since you met him, you've been receiving small gifts to the doorstep of your grandmother's house: flowers with roots and clots of dirt intact, small stones that had been polished roughly by amatuer hands, washers and gears pulled from who knows where, and sometimes even skulls and bone fragments that had been bleached by the sun. To tell the truth these would put you on edge had you not known the certain uniqueness that the scarecrow possessed. It had only been a couple days, but you hadn't been back out to see him like you promised, and every morning he left you gifts. The first day your grandmother had seen the flowers first, her prized gardenias from her garden, and was inconsolable that someone would do this to her. There was no way you could tell her than you were pretty sure they were from the scarecrow out in her corn fields. She would think you went mad and send you back home. You made a note to tell Jamison not to pull flowers from gardens, but chores had been busy the last couple days, and one of the farmhands were sick, so you had to wake up before dawn and milk the cows for them on top of your regular tasks. Although being awake earlier meant that you got to see the gifts left out before everyone else was up (you were starting to amass a collection in a drawer of your dresser; pressing the flowers in a book and storing away the stones and trinkets), You hadn’t stopped thinking about Jamison since you met, and were filled with excitement at the prospect of seeing him again. One day over dinner, you asked your grandmother where the scarecrow had come from. She told you she wasn't sure, that he'd been out there for as long as they've had the farm. The thought of this put you on edge, they've had the farm since at least as long as you've been alive, so where did he come from? If his skin was as human as it felt, how had he not decomposed? This just made you more curious and brought more and more questions to mind.
After you had milked the cows this morning, your grandmother sent you to the market with a list of groceries of things that couldn’t be supplied by the farm she maintained. You took your bike from the shed near the house, tucking the list into your pocket and speedily pedaling to the market down the road. It wasn’t far by any means, but without access to a car it took you about an hour to bike to the market. The market was expansive and rife with goods, fresh fruits and vegetables from neighboring farms, a scent of fresh bread permeated the air, and people selling their merchandise were friendly and humble. The bright colors of all the produce and folk art around you made your mood peak. You were especially excited to get this chore over with because you knew that after the shopping the rest of the day was all yours, and it was still early. You definitely had time to see Jamison today.
You hurried to gather the things on the list your grandmother supplied in her flowing beautiful handwriting, paying for them from the small vendors and putting them in the basket at the front of your bike. Once your basket was full and the list was all checked off, you hopped back on and biked home, faster than you had travelled to get to the market, excited about what the rest of the day had in store for you.
You hurry inside, having unhooked the basket from your bike, setting it down on the kitchen island and putting away the groceries for your Grandma. Just as you were about finished, she came in the room and smiled at you.
“Thank you so much, dear,” She said, reaching up to pat your head affectionately, “Where would I be without your help, I wonder?”
You laughed a bit, smiling at her, “It’s no problem, Gran’ really. I’m happy to help you!”
“Such a sweet child,” She said, picking up her crossstitch from the table in the breakfast nook. “Any exciting plans for the rest of today?”
You feign indecisiveness, “I don’t know, I think I’m going to go on a walk and explore parts of the farm I haven’t been to, but I haven’t really decided.”
She nodded, looking down at the needlework in her hands, “Well stay safe out there, and call me if you need anything, I can send Thomas out to get you if you get lost, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind picking you up in the tractor.”
You nodded, before realizing that she wasn’t looking up and couldn’t see you nod and adding, “Of course, Gran’, but I’m pretty sure I can find my way back.”
With that you grabbed your bag from the chair where you had left it, and headed out the door to the patio, and out to the lush green lawn that surrounded the farm. The country was so beautiful and something you missed from your childhood visits that you couldn’t quite replicate back in the city.
In your bag you had packed a couple apples, some crackers and a couple bottles of water, as well as a small blanket, and a flashlight with extra batteries, in case you were out longer than you meant to be. Heading out across the lawn you thought about his stitched face and the bright amber of his eyes that looked so human. You thought about the fact that you knew he was only filled with straw, you had put it there, but the way his chest moved like he was breathing implied there was more than straw in his chest. How he had come to be was such a mystery to you, and his uncaring demeanor to the whole situation drove you a little bit crazy, but he was sweet enough. His existence confused you and frightened you, but he was genuine in his reactions to you and although his gifts were strange, you know that he just didn't know how else to get your attention. Not that he didn't already have it.
Around noon, when you parted the stalks of corn to the small clearing where the stake was buried deep into the dirt, you saw him sitting on the ground at the base of it, where you had placed him while you repaired him. He was surrounded by a murder of crows, a notably large one perched on his wrist. He was tossing them corn, the husks sat next to him on the dirt where he had shucked them, and the cobs near by where he had cut the kernels loose into his hand.
“Isn’t that kind of the opposite of what my dear scarecrow is supposed to do?” You said, chuckling as you walked into the clearing. When you came into view, the crows made a ruckus and flew off in different directions, some into the bright blue sky, some deeper into the bright green of the cornfield. He looked at you, and though you could only see the sewn on face of the burlap mask, you felt like he was smiling under it, which made you feel flutters in your stomach, although you couldn’t exactly say why.
You gave him a small wave, “Remember me?” You joked, you knew he did, of course he did, he was bringing you gifts every morning wasn’t he.
“Remember ya? ‘Ell I can’t stop thinkin ‘boutcha,” He said, using the stake as suppose to stand up, “Did you get my gif’s?”
You laughed, “I think I got one or two,” but that did remind you, “Oh! But you have to stop puling flowers out of Gran’s garden or she’ll track you down, take you down from that stake, and pull the stuffing out of you!”
You were partially joking, of course, you hadn’t told your grandmother about him, but it had a reaction on him anyway, his hands gripping the brown fabric of his overalls tightly in nervousness.
“Oi! Don’ let ‘er do that to me, love!” His voice was higher than normal, laced with a tittering nervous laugh, “I was jus’ tryin’ ta giv’ a lil somethin’ as ace as ya!”
You approached him, and untied the burlap sack, pulling it up over his face, similar to the way you did days ago, and similar to then, you had the same reaction. His facial features were so charming, sharp and angled, but countered by the roundness of his eyes, the fluff of his eyebrows, and his wide grin. The stitches enamored you, adding a distinctive peculiarity to him.
“I know, I appreciate all of them,” you said, staring at his beautiful golden eyes.
Feeling like you’d been staring too long, you look away, “So, uh, have you remembered anything else since the other day?” you said, wondering if his amnesia had gotten any better over the week.
He looked up to the right, into the sky, thinking about it and squinting his eyes in a cute cartoony way, almost like he was being mock pensive. After a moment he looked back at you, “Na, not anythin’ I can think of.”
Then suddenly his eyes opened wide and he grabbed your hands, “Oi! But I do want to show ya somethin’!”
“Oh, okay,” You said, tilting your head in reaction, wondering what he wanted to show you.
“Let’s go on a walk then, love,” He said, grinning ear to ear, “Yer gonna love it!” He took you by the hand, leading you into the cornfield. Going deeper into the field always worried you, you’d gotten lost in one when you were a child and didn’t want to replicate that event.
Feeling uneasy, you spoke up, “Jamison, how far are we going into the field?” It was his home and you were sure he probably knew it like the  back of his hand, but the reminders of being lost as a child make you clutch his hand a little tighter than you wanted to admit.
“Feelin’ scared, Darl’?” He said, squeezing your hand back with a laugh, “No worries, I’m ‘ere! I’m takin’ ya somewhere real special by the end of this, swear.”
He took you through the field, notating his favorite places to find his treasures, places where he could usually see birds and small animals, before you came out on the other side of the field suddenly. The corn field was huge, but you were surprised how quickly it seemed you were on the other side of it. You brushed this off as a combination of him knowing his way around and company making the walk feel faster. By the time you got to the wide open clearing of the pasture behind the field, you estimated it was somewhere around one or two in the afternoon.
“Where are we going?” You asked, looking out where the cows were grazing, the same cows you had seen that morning. The pasture wasn’t unfamiliar to you, but you usually took a horse out if you were going out this far from the house, and usually only if you were just out riding or the farm hands needed help bring the cattle back in.
“Jus’ a pretty lil place I found.” He said, leading you across the pasture, over the gentle rolling hills and out to the lake on the other side.
It took just a few more minutes to reach the banks of the lake, you had never really paid attention to it but the natural beauty of it astounded you. The top of the pond was adorned with lily pads, parts of the bank grew lush, large cattails that framed the water. You could hear the call of frogs and the hum of the wings of dragonflies zipping past as you disturbed them, walking to the bank. You breathed in deep, the air was so fresh here and the bright blue sky reminded you for the second time today of the beauty that the country held.
“It’s beautiful,” You said, looking around, “I guess I never really paid attention to all of this.”
He was looking out over the water, looking lost in thought about what you had said. Maybe you triggered a memory? You were about to ask when he looked at you and broke out into a wide grin, laughing erratically, he was always laughing. It was so charming. Not to mention infectious, you found yourself laughing with him, even if you didn’t know why he was laughing.
He calmed down after a minute, wide grin still on his face. He flopped to the ground unceremoniously, heaving himself down like, well, a sack of straw, before saying to you, “There’s heaps of places I could take ya like this, I prolly know this farm betta than ya do.” You thought about it decided and he was probably right, after all he had been here longer than you and probably explored it more than you.
You spent the afternoon talking about yourself, your life back home, your grandparents, answering questions that he had. He was genuinely interested, and the thought made your stomach flutter again. When you noticed him get distracted you would pause, letting it run its course and accepting that he gets distracted around the second time it happened. But you felt much more open with him after you shared so much, and before you knew it, it had gotten late.
The clear blue sky had faded into a brilliant sea of oranges, pinks and reds as the sun sunk on the horizon, the reflection of the sky danced on the water, swaying gently with the breeze. You heard the evening crickets chirping and the frogs croaking songs on their lily pads as you looked out over the water. The two of you were sitting on the blanket you brought in your bag, at some point in the afternoon
You looked over at Jamison and saw that he was staring at you, his face resting on his hand, elbow leaning in on his knee and his posture slumped over, just looking at him made your back hurt, and you chuckled a little.
“Wot’s so funny,” He said, with a laugh of his own, “Got somethin’ on me face?”
“Maybe something right here,” You joked and pointed at your own face where he had stitching running from the corner of his mouth.
“Harhar, very funny,” He said, although he was still smiling at you.
He leaned forward towards you and before you knew it his hands were on your face pulling it towards his, his lips connecting with yours in a moment of passion. His lips were chapped a bit, but not unpleasant, and you could feel the stitching on his mouth at the corners of your lips. He held you there for a moment, savoring your lips on his, before he pulled back. You stared at him for a moment, face flushed and a hand on your chest, catching your breath. He was smiling at you with a dorky grin that said he got exactly what he wanted.
“What was that for,” You said, breathless and reeling from the kiss that sparked within you and lit your heart ablaze.
“Had ta get ya back for the otha day,” He said, although the look in his eyes suggested he wanted to do it for more reasons than that. They were alive and bright, staring deep into your own as if he knew you were feeling the same thing he was.
He hopped up, as unsurreptitiously as he had fallen to the ground earlier, movement quick and all at once, and held out a hand to your in a dramatic fashion, “Think it’s time for ya to head home now though, Love,” He said as you took his hand and he pulled you up.
He walked you back through the corn fields, and as close to the house as he could without you being worried that your grandmother or one of the hired workers would see him. As you parted, he squeezed your hand tight in his left hand, and pulled you to him for another quick kiss, before hopping away quickly back to the field. The kiss left you feeling as warm as it had earlier, and as soon as he left you, you were wondering when the next time you would see him would be.

Stan-at-Home - Chapter 2: An Idyllic Domestic Life
Chapter 1   Chapter 2   Chapter 3   Chapter 4   Chapter 5   Chapter 6 Chapter 7   AO3
Okay so I wasn’t planning on updating this fic before I finished “Stan Pines, Farmhand”, but my muse, she inspires me.  And I wanted to write something, since I’m officially post-op and have not much else to do while I recuperate.  But anyways, in this chapter, we meet Stan’s wife!  And we find out more about the family dynamics, as well as how Stan and his wife met.  We also get a few hints about some of the drama coming in the next chapter, with Bill Cipher.  Seriously.  The next chapter is gonna be intense, folks.  Anyways, enjoy~
YOU REALLY THINK YOU CAN ESCAPE ME, SIXER?
Ford sat bolt upright, drenched in a cold sweat.  His breathing slowly steadied as he looked around the sparsely furnished, but clean guest room.  He threw the brown-striped covers off and sat on the edge of the bed.
Fuck!  See, Stanley, this is why I don’t sleep!  Bill always finds me.  Always. Once his heart had stopped pounding in his ears, he could make out the clatter of cookware and voices chattering. Ford hesitantly stood up and opened the door.  He was immediately greeted by a waft of marinara-scented air.  His stomach rumbled.  How long has it been since I’ve eaten?  He walked down the hallway and into the living room.
“You got Daddy in trouble,” an accusatory voice said.  He looked down.  Danny was standing in front of him, her diminutive arms crossed and brown eyes narrowed.
“Yer daddy got his own self in trouble,” a female voice said in a thick southern accent.  Ford looked over.  A short woman with mid-length caramel-colored hair and a very large nose was standing in the kitchen, wearing a clearly hand-embroidered apron.  Her eyes were hidden behind a pair of half-moon reading glasses. She stood in a pose similar to her daughter’s.  “Let that be a lesson.  Ya don’t lie ‘bout yer fam’ly.”
This must be Angie.  Fiddleford’s younger sister.  She smiled politely at him.  She’s going to hate me when she finds out what I did to her older brother.
               “You’re Stan’s wife?” he double-checked.  She nodded.
“Though I like to think of it as bein’ Stan’s my husband.  You must be Ford, the brother-in-law I didn’t know I had.”
“You’d be Ms. McGucket, then,” Ford said.  She grinned crookedly, and it made Ford’s heart ache.
               That’s Fiddleford’s smile.
“Actually, it’s Dr. McGucket,” she clarified.  “But ya can call me Angie.”
“Oh, that’s right.  Stan mentioned you have a doctorate.”  Angie nodded again.
               “Yessir.  In herpetology.”
“Wow.  That’s quite the achievement.  Biology was always something that fascinated me.”
“Well, we can talk ‘bout that over dinner, if’n ya want,” she said cheerfully.  She wiped her hands on her apron.  “I was just ‘bout to send someone to fetch ya.  Dinner’s ready.  Spaghetti and meatballs.  It’s all homemade and all kosher.”
Kosher?  Ford looked at Stan, who was setting the table.
“Stan, do you practice?” he asked.  Stan shrugged.
“Not really.  But Angie and I agreed that the girls should grow up knowin’ some of the family culture. Which means they’re bein’ raised with a weird mixture of Catholicism and Judaism, but eh.  It works out pretty well.”  He glanced over at Angie.  “Like our wedding.”  Angie smiled fondly.
“Speaking of, why wasn’t I invited to your wedding?” Ford asked. Stan raised an eyebrow.
“Like ya can’t figure that out on your own.  I didn’t want ya to show up and start yellin’ ‘bout how I ruined your life in front of my fiancée’s entire family.  She’s got four older brothers, and all of them know how to use a gun.” He grimaced.  “Didn’t need ‘em to think I’d ruin her life, too.  Her folks are still suspicious about how soon the girls were born after we got married.” Stan placed the last bowl down. “Hey, lil monsters, get yourselves in here.  It’s dinnertime!”  Danny abandoned her post in front of Ford to run to the kitchen, where she was summarily lifted into her chair.  “Daisy, get your butt in the kitchen,” Stan said.
“Wanna play,” Daisy whined from somewhere behind Ford.  Ford turned.  Daisy was busily scrawling in a coloring book.  He squinted at the pictures.
That’s not a children’s book.  Those are textbook photocopies.
“I know ya like yer fancy colorin’ pages,” Angie said, taking a seat at the table, “but ya need to eat, junebug.”
“…Fine,” Daisy sighed.  She stood up, but stopped before she reached the kitchen.  She held out her six-fingered hand to Ford.  “Hold?”
“Uh…”  Ford looked at Stan and Angie helplessly.  Angie was clearly fighting back a grin.  Stan laughed, not bothering to hide his amusement.
“C’mon, kid.  It’s not like he’s gonna take ya for a walk or somethin’,” Stan said.  He walked over to Daisy and picked her up, then put her in her chair at the table.  Stan took a seat next to his wife, giving her a kiss on the cheek before he sat down. Angie responded with a kiss of her own. Ford tried not to stare at the blatant display of loving, happy domesticity.
My wild twin really did settle down.  And it’s clearly a healthy relationship.  If Mom ever found out Pops lied to her like Stan did to Angie…she wouldn’t even talk to him, let alone let him kiss her.
“You gon’ eat, Uncle Ford?” Daisy asked.  “It’s friendly food.”  Ford reluctantly walked to the table and sat down.
I can’t remember the last time I ate a meal with someone else.
“‘Friendly food’?” he asked.  Daisy nodded.
“It’s how we described kosher,” Stan explained.  “Easier than the whole spiel.  At least, right now.”  Angie cleared her throat.  Ford looked over at her.  Her eyes were closed.
“On this day, we thank the Lord for the bountiful gifts he has given us,” she intoned solemnly.  Ford looked around.  The other people at the table had their heads bowed.  “We pray that he continues to bless us with food, family, and happiness. Amen.”
“Amen,” Danny and Daisy echoed.  Stan grinned at Ford.
“Surprised ya, huh?” Stan asked cheekily.
“I, uh, was definitely not expecting that,” Ford said.
“We say grace before each meal,” Angie explained.  “It’s a tradition in my fam’ly.  But I’ve been tryin’ to make it a bit more…inclusive, since the girls ain’t just Catholic.”  Ford picked up a fork.  Angie’s eyes were immediately drawn to his hands.  Ford swallowed, once again fighting the urge to hide his polydactyly from Stan’s family.  “Stanford, Stan mentioned ya know Fiddleford?”
“Uh, yes,” Ford replied.  “He was my college roommate.”  Angie nodded, a contemplative expression on her face.
“I think Fidds mentioned he met his roommate again a while back.  ‘Bout seven years?  It was around the time we first met, Stan.”
“Well, um, that wasn’t the last time I saw Fiddleford,” Ford said.  Angie cocked her head.
               “Oh?”
“I saw him more recently, um-”
“We can talk about that after dinner,” Stan interrupted.
               “I wanna know!” Daisy protested.
“It’s just boring grown-up talk, sweetness,” Angie said soothingly.  Daisy crossed her arms and pouted.
“You met in ’75?” Ford asked.  Stan and Angie nodded.  “How exactly did that happen, by the way?”  Angie smiled at Stan.
“Stan showed up at my folks’ house, tryin’ to sell some sort of vacuum.”
               “Stan-Vac,” Stan supplied.  Angie chuckled.
“You were a door-to-door salesman?” Ford asked.
“Yeah.  My products weren’t good, but I was.  Angie’s folks still saw through me right away,” Stan said.
“They figured this young man needed some help, so they invited him to stay fer dinner.  And then he stayed the night.  And then another night.  And then my folks asked him if he wanted to stay permanently, as a farmhand,” Angie finished.
“When Angie came home from college for Thanksgiving break, she walked into the barn and saw me and, well, that’s how we met,” Stan said with a shrug.
“That’s quite the series of coincidences to bring you two together,” Ford remarked.
“Yep,” Stan said.  He grinned at Angie.  “Glad they happened, though.”  Angie smiled back at him.
“Ick!” Daisy said loudly.  Stan rolled his eyes.
               “What?” Ford asked.
“The girls don’t like it when their ma ‘n dad get lovey-dovey,” Angie said.
               “‘S boring,” Danny said.
“Then what do ya wanna talk about?” Stan asked.  Danny frowned thoughtfully.
“Why is Uncle Ford more fingers?” she asked after a moment. Angie’s eyes widened.
“Stanford, I’m sorry,” she said quickly.  “The girls ‘re-”
               “No, it’s fine,” Ford said.
“They don’t mean anything by it,” Stan added.  “They’re just too curious for their own good.”
               “Seriously, it’s fine.”
               Is it, though?
“To answer your question, Danny,” Ford continued, despite the awkwardness, “I’m a polydactyl due to a flaw in my genetic coding.”  Danny and Daisy stared at him blankly.
“Ford.  They’re three years old,” Stan said shortly.  “They’re not in high school.”
               “Oh.  Right.”
“He’s got extra fingers ‘cause that’s just how he is,” Angie said. “Like how some folks have red hair, and some have brown hair.”
“I have brown hair!” Daisy said.
“Yes, ya do.  And like yer Uncle Ford, you’ve got more ‘n ten fingers.”
“You actually inherited that trait from your father,” Ford added.  “It runs in my family.”
“Then why does Daddy have ten fingers?” Danny asked.
“Some things skip generations,” Angie replied.  “Yer Gran and Gramps don’t have red hair, but yer Auntie Violynn does.  It’s just how things work sometimes.”  Danny and Daisy nodded.  Ford looked at Angie.
“I must admit, it’s refreshing to hear a full explanation, instead of just telling them ‘That’s how things are.’”  Angie shrugged and leaned over to wipe sauce off Danny’s face.
“The girls are too curious fer somethin’ like that to slide.  Anyways, I always hated hearin’ that, growin’ up.”
“I suppose you’re glad to find out where Daisy’s polydactyly came from?” Ford asked.  Angie paused.
“Yes,” she said after a moment, in a calm, level tone.  “I suppose I am.”
-----
Dinner passed by cheerfully.  Though Ford, for the most part, felt like an outsider looking in, as he watched Stan and Angie flirt, carefully keep their daughters’ faces clean, and attempt to engage the girls in meaningful conversations.
Why does Stan keep asking them what they would do in hypothetical situations involving “pug trafficking”?
“It’s after dinner, girls,” Stan said.  “Ya know what that means.”  Daisy leapt out of her chair.
“You’ll never catch me alive!” she shouted gleefully before bolting.  Danny followed suit.  Stan stood up with a chuckle.
“I’m comin’ for ya,” he growled playfully, stalking after his daughters. There were squeals of joy from somewhere else inside the house as he left Ford’s field of vision.  Angie began to clear the table, humming to herself.
“What, exactly, is going on?” Ford asked.  Angie smiled fondly.
“It’s a bathtime ritual thing.  Stan started it.  He’s a goofball, that husband of mine.”
“Gotcha!” Stan shouted.  There were more delighted squeals.  Angie chuckled.
“Stan’s a heck of a father, by the way.  After my maternity leave ended, we couldn’t find anyone to watch the girls. Well, not anyone that Stan thought was good enough for his babies.  Stan told me ‘Ya know what, I’ve always hated my job anyways.’  Quit that very same day.”
              “So he’s a stay-at-home dad?”
“Yessir.”  Angie deposited the dirty dishes in the sink and began to clean them.  “I appreciate how involved he is in raisin’ ‘em.  I’m pretty busy most days, so it eases my mind to know that they’ve got one of their parents watchin’ ‘em.”
              “Wow.”
              “What are ya impressed by?”
“Honestly?  All of it,” Ford said.  Angie looked at him, bemused.  “I never thought Stan would settle down, or have a kid, or, if I’m being completely truthful, if he did have a kid, I didn’t suspect he would make an excellent father.” Angie pursed her lips.  “I mean, I thought he’d be a serviceable one.  But not the one I saw today.  It’s not like we got any ideas from how to be a good father from our own.”  Angie nodded silently.
“That’s understandable.  But it’s fer the best if ya don’t say that ya weren’t expectin’ Stan to be a good dad. It means a lot to him that his kids adore him so much.  He’s put a lot of stake in his abilities as a father.  He don’t need to hear that negativity from his twin.”
“…Of course.”  A few minutes passed while Angie continued to wash the dishes.  Ford looked around the kitchen.  Like much of the house, it was tastefully decorated, in bright colors with pictures on the walls.  Ford cleared his throat.  “So, um, did you take these pictures?” he asked.  Angie beamed.
“Yessir.  Well, all of ‘em ‘cept fer the ones of me.  I’ve always been a fan of photography.  Had my own camera since I was thirteen.  Pretty useful when I did field work fer my thesis.  Can’t draw worth a darn, but I can make a salamander look like a movie star in a picture.”  She shrugged. “If the lightin’ is right, ‘course.” Stan walked into the kitchen, slightly dampened.
“Kids are tucked in,” he said, taking a seat at the table.  Ford eyed him curiously.
“Did you take a bath as well?” Ford asked.  Stan laughed.
“Nah, the girls just like to have splash wars.”  Angie put aside the dishes and joined her husband at the table.
“So, Stanford,” she said in a business-like manner, “at dinner, ya said that back in ’75 weren’t the last time ya saw Fiddleford?”
“Uh, no.  Far from it,” Ford replied.  “He actually was my assistant, up in Gravity Falls.”  Angie frowned.
               “Yer assistant?”
               “Yes.”
“But Fidds was hired by someone named Stanford Pines, not Stanford-”  She cut herself off and crossed her arms. “All right, which one of ya changed yer last name?” she asked, looking back and forth between Stan and Ford.
“What?” Ford asked.  Angie turned to Stan.
              “Stanley!”
“Hey, you knew I was a grifter.  I went through a lot of different names.  And I ended up takin’ yours anyways so-”
“Ya didn’t tell me yer real name!  Ya didn’t tell me that, and neither did ya tell me ya had a twin brother!”
              “Angie-”
“We’re married.  We have two beautiful children.  We need to be able to trust each other with our secrets.”  Stan looked down, abashed.  “I hope ya know where yer sleepin’ tonight.”  Angie leaned in.  “An’ it ain’t our bed.”
“Yeah, figured,” Stan mumbled.  He glowered at Ford.  “Way to go, Sixer, Tuesdays are the nights we get it on.”
“I wasn’t the one who lied to your wife,” Ford said defensively.
“Stanford,” Angie said suddenly, “if Fidds was yer assistant, do ya know what happened to him?  No one’s heard from him in weeks.  We’re gettin’ awfully worried ‘bout him.”  A deep discomfort knotted in Ford’s stomach.
              “He’s…not himself.”
              “What do ya mean?”
“He’s lost his sanity.”  Angie’s eyes filled with tears.  “I’m so sorry, Angie.  I- it’s my fault.”
              “Wh- how?”
“It was through the course of our research that he- shit!”  Ford scrabbled backward, falling out of his chair in the process.  Angie had launched herself at him.  Stan grabbed her torso, preventing her from actually harming him.
“Angie, what the hell are ya doin’?” Stan asked her.
“He has a son!” Angie yelled at Ford.  “A fam’ly.  An’ it’s yer fault that he’s gone?  Worse than gone, he’s there in body but he ain’t there in mind!”
“Angie, chill!” Stan hissed.  “He explained it to me earlier.  It’s not completely his fault.”  He nodded at Ford.  “Tell her.”
“It’s- Fiddleford saw something that drove him mad.  The domain of a former research partner of mine,” Ford said. Angie glared at him.
“Yer not helpin’ yer case, Stanford,” she growled.  “It still sounds an awful lot like it’s yer fault that Fidds is- is-”
“I don’t think he’s completely lost,” Ford said.  Angie blinked.
               “Really?”
“No, I- I think he can be saved.  It will be difficult and fairly intensive, but you can have your brother back.” Angie sat down again.  Stan kept an arm wrapped firmly around her torso.
“All right,” she said softly.  “If yer willin’ to help bring him back to his fam’ly-”
“And I am,” Ford said quickly.  “Very much so.”  Angie nodded.
“Okay.  Now, tell us ‘bout this former partner of yours.  What kind of person is he, to have a sanity-wreckin’ ‘domain’?” she asked. Ford sighed.
“This is going to sound insane, but…a demon.”  Angie and Stan stared at him blankly.
               “A demon?” Angie parroted.
“Sixer, what in the hell are ya talkin’ about?” Stan asked.
“Bill Cipher is a dream demon.  He- he assisted in the construction of a device of mine.  Something to allow for interdimensional travel.  But he lied to me.”
“Demons tend to do that,” Angie said flatly.
“Ford, how are we supposed to believe ya?” Stan asked.  “A demon?  Seriously?” Ford sighed.
“I know.  And I don’t have much by the way of proof.  Beyond, well, this.”  He took his first journal out of his trenchcoat pocket and handed it to Stan. Stan placed it on the table and opened it.  He and Angie skimmed the journal with interest.
“This is either the truth, or a very powerful and complex delusion,” Angie said slowly, after reading a few pages.  She looked at Stan.  “I’m goin’ to defer to you on this, sweet potata.  Ya know Stanford.”
“This is real,” Stan said softly.  “Ford wouldn’t make all this up.  And he’s not like your cousin Thistlebert.  He’s not a madman.”  Angie nodded.
“Okay.”  She looked at Ford.  “We might need some more proof eventually, but fer the time bein’, we believe ya.”
               “R-really?” Ford asked, surprised.
“Yes,” Angie said.  “And we’ll help ya.”
“Like I said, Ford, no one messes with my family,” Stan said.  He grimaced.  “Even if it is a ‘dream demon’ that’s tryin’ to wreck my twin’s life. What’s the difference between a dream demon and a normal demon, anyway?”
“Well, that’s a rather complicated topic,” Ford said.  “The difference-”
“Stanford, maybe that’s a conversation you can have with Stan later,” Angie said.  “I have to be up early tomorrow fer work, so I shouldn’t stay up much longer.  Do ya have any questions fer us right now?”
“Actually, yes.  Stanley, when I called, why didn’t you tell me you were a married father?” Ford asked. Stan crossed his arms and leaned back.
“I didn’t hear from ya in over ten years.  Then ya call me up, askin’ me to go to a different state to help ya. Forgive me for not wantin’ to tell ya ‘bout the life ya clearly weren’t interested in,” Stan said bitterly.
“I didn’t know how to contact you,” Ford said.  Stan’s eyes narrowed.
“Bull.  I’ve had a steady phone number since 1975.  Ya coulda gone through Mom before, but ya only did it last week.  Ya didn’t wanna talk to me.  Do us both a favor and quit lyin’.”  Ford resisted the urge to look down like a scolded child.  Angie frowned.
“But when I got here, why all the secrecy?  I had to figure out that you were married and who the girls were on my own,” Ford soldiered on.  Stan shrugged.  “That’s not an answer.”
“Maybe ya figured it out before I got a chance to tell ya like I planned,” Stan said.  “Maybe I was nervous about tellin’ ya I settled down, when everyone, includin’ me, said I wouldn’t.  Maybe I’ve got a flair for dramatics.  Who knows.”
“Stan,” Angie intervened, “did ya mention Ford contactin’ yer mother?”
“Yeah, why?” Stan asked.  Angie crossed her arms and glowered at him.  “…I just bought myself another night on the couch, didn’t I?”
“More like three.  Yer mother’s alive?  Is everything ya told me ‘n my fam’ly a lie?”
               “No!”
“Are ya sure?  ‘Cause it’s startin’ to feel that way.”
               “Angie-” Stan started.  Angie sighed.
“I know ya had yer reasons.  But the lyin’, this can’t keep goin’ on!  Is there anything else you’ve kept from me?”
               “No,” Stan said firmly.
               “Are ya sure?”
“Yes.”  After a pause, Angie nodded.
“Okay.”  She stood up. “Tomorrow, we can discuss a way to deal with this Bill problem.”  She shook her head.  “Bill. That’s quite the normal name fer a demon.  Is his full name William or somethin’?”
“I’m not sure.  I never asked,” Ford said, surprised by her candidness.
“Ah, well.”  Angie looked Ford up and down.  “Don’t take this the wrong way, Stanford, but…yer a bit of a walkin’ disaster right now.”
               “I’m well aware.”
“Stan, would ya get yer twin some towels and show him how to use the shower? Oh, and lend him some of yer clothes, please.”
“There’s no need to do that,” Ford said quickly, holding his coat tightly. “I’m perfectly fine in the outfit I’m wearing.”
“Stanford, please, just borrow some of Stan’s stuff.  I can throw yer clothes in the laundry tomorrow mornin’ and it’ll be done by dinner.”
               “But-”
“You can keep yer coat,” she said with a smile.  Ford relaxed slightly.
“All right.  Stan’s clothes won’t fit me, though, I’ll have you know.”  She nodded.
“I know.  But they’ll fit better ‘n mine or the girls’ would.”  Angie kissed Stan on the cheek.  “Darlin’, don’t forget, yer sleepin’ on the couch tonight.”
“I know,” Stan muttered.  He stood up. “C’mon, Ford, I’ll show ya how to use the shower.  It’s a bit tricky.”  Ford followed Stan to the bathroom.  He could hear Angie hum as she resumed cleaning the dishes.
Well, I just completely overturned their normal, happy, life, didn’t I.
