eeee thank u!!
.
Letting his head tilt back on the headrest, he watches the empty field splayed out in front of him, adjacent to this parking lot. Ted knew smalltown life well, once-- when he was 18, just on the cusp of graduating from high school, his grandmother had gotten sick. She was a sturdy, tiny old lady, who Ted always referred to simply as Maw.
She was his father’s mother. She never quite recovered from her eldest son’s death. Despite the fact that she had other biological children still living, it somehow ended up being Ted and his mom who came and took care of her in her last months of life. He still doesn’t know how that happened.
Anyway. She lived in a little house on the river, way out in the middle of nowhere, jacked up on stilts in case of flooding. Ted and his mom moved out there for a few months, the summer after Ted graduated from high school, to be with her, take care of her. The closest town was a ten minute drive away, but it was a tiny, tiny little thing, basically just two gas stations and a diner threaded together by one main road.
This town is slightly larger than that, mostly by virtue of being a tourist trap, but not by much. Ted knew smalltown life well once, but not anymore. He hasn’t seriously stayed anywhere with a population density under a thousand people per square mile in… what, twenty years? It’s unsettling, in a strange way, to be in such a sleepy town again-- main street butting right up next to miles and miles of empty fields. It makes him think about Maw’s house, the scent of mothballs and the sound of her coughing.
Ted didn’t cry when she died. He barely knew her, really. He was sad to witness death, of course, but he mostly just wanted to get out of that house.
On her deathbed, she lost control of her own reality, and insisted on calling Ted by his father’s name. He still remembers the first time she did it; gripped him hard by the arm, her blue eyes unfocused and shining, stared into his soul and said: “Tommy. God, you look so young. Tommy, Tommy.”
Ted looked to his mom, silently asking the question-- What do I do? But his mom didn’t know either. She looked right back at him, equally at a loss.
So Ted turned to Maw and said, “Yeah. Hi, mom. It’s me.”

Get a Guitar | S. Eunseok
Tumblr media
Summary: If you want something to play with... Pairing: Eunseok x Reader Sungchan x Reader words: 15k Genre: kind of a love triangle, fluff, angst. warnings: mild cursing, mentions of sex, mentions of death and Ted Bundy (Not proofread.) and thank you to @ningngyu for helping me write this
Saturdays were the one day of the week where you were guaranteed to be doing absolutely nothing.
You’d usually spend your weekend sleeping or binging all of your favorite shows and locking your bedroom door to stop your best friend from attempting to drag you out to one of those really weird underground events that she liked.
Today was the same, without fail she’s pounding at your door, so much so that you can hear the aggressive knocking on the door even over your headphones that were turned up all the way.
“Come on, just this one time please.” she begs through the door but you can’t hear anything she’s saying over the thumping of wood and the Beyoncé song you have playing in an attempt to blare her out.
“Y/N i know you hear me.”
Annoyed and frustrated you throw your legs across the bed and stomp to open the door, revealing your smiley bestfriend. whom you absolutely adored, but you’d be lying if you said there weren’t times when you wanted to sell her.
She was amazing but it was kinda like having a younger sister. No, it was exactly like having a younger sister. because although you guys are the same age, she didn’t have a license so she needed you to drive her everywhere and she stole your clothes.
“I'm not going out tonight.” you say before she could even speak.
“oh please please please. there will be cute guys there.” Her bottom lip is poked out and her hands are held put in prayer form when she looks at you with puppy dog eyes.
none of it phases you though, holding your ground which makes her plead more.
“I'll buy you food and I'll even clean your car.”
when she sees that you’re still not convinced she continues. “We can even leave whenever you want.”
That's when you roll your eyes and sigh. “Fine, but my car better look brand new when you’re done.” you say and she begins jumping and gleaming.
“thank you thank you thank you.”
your best friend was a liar, First she was broke so there was no way she could buy you food. Second, there was absolutely no one here that caught your eye.
The unruly music blaring through the small crowded building made your ears feel like they were bleeding, and of course your best friend was nowhere to be found. As she left you the second the both of you entered the facility.
you wanted to go home and lay in the comfort of your own bed, but you couldn’t leave her here with no way to get home. So there you stood, all alone arms crossed over your chest and a frown resting flat on your face. with your eyebrows unintentionally furrowed.
“Can’t be that bad.” a completely unfamiliar voice came from beside you, and it takes a lot of strength for you not to yell at them to go away.
“This just isn’t my kind of scene.” you say not bothering to look at the stranger. hoping that if you show that you’re completely uninterested he’ll go away.
“I’m guessing this is your first time.” he asks
That's when you finally look at him, intending to give him a piece of your mind but taken back when your eyes find him. Maybe your friend wasn’t a complete liar, you think. because this man is so fine you catch yourself at a loss for words and thoughts.
having to shake your head slightly before you find something to say. “Uh.. yeah. This is my first time?”
“It gets better.” he reassures, breaking eye contact and looking at the band in front of you. which for some reason makes you a little sad. you enjoy having all of his attention on you.
“Thanks.” you say, still looking up at him.
“yeah.”
“What’s your name by the way?” You ask, hoping that he’d turn his gaze back to you, and it works. He looks back down at you and answers your question. “Silver stone.”
“huh?” your mouth is agape when you look at him, confused by his answer.
“That’s just my stage name. You can call me Eunseok.” he smiles as he holds his hand out for you to shake, his smile was the perfect asset to his already perfectly sculpted face. His hands are soft and strong at the same time, while his voice is deep and gentle, playing like a beautiful melody to your ears.
“I’m Y/n.” You answer, still looking at him in awe, loving the way his eyes watch you. You can feel the heat arise from your cheeks.
“So your stage name is Silver stone?” You ask, still dragging on the conversation. Just so his eyes wouldn’t leave your figure.
“Yeah it’s a long story.” He releases a small deep laugh that causes you to suck your bottom lip in between your teeth. Eyes trained to his small movements, him dragging his hand through his “hair to pull it out of his face and rolling up the sleeves of his long sleeve sweater to reveal his forearms.
The way he looks down at you with hooded eyelids makes the overly crowded building feel like it’s just you and him.
“I’m guessing you’re in a band? If you have a stage name I mean.” you state, while tilting your head slightly to the side and looking up at him.
“I’m the lead guitar player.” He says casually, which causes your brain to turn to mush and you to take notice of his long slim fingers. “Oh he has to be a player.” you think to yourself, but If it was possible you were now even more attracted to him, wanting to know more.
“Hey, we've got 5 minutes.” You can hear and feel the bubble around you and Eunseok pop when two strangers come over and disturb your conversation. His eyes shift from you to the two boys beside you.
“Oh?… I meant take your time. We can be a few minutes late.” One of them says while looking at you.
“Sorry I don't mean to hold you up.” you trail off when he looks back down at you.
“Sorry I gotta go perform really fast. But stay here I’ll be right back. Okay?”
You move your lips to say “alright.” But he doesn’t notice as disappears into the crowd. Leaving you feeling alone again.
“Oh my god Y/N. Do you know who that was?” someone says as they tap your shoulder. you turn to see your best friend pointing out the man you were just having a conversation with while slapping at your arm aggressively.
“Eunseok?” you question, shifting away from her so she couldn’t hit you anymore.
“Silver stone!” she corrects, and continues “Oh my goodness, girl he was totally flirting with you.” she squeals.
“I don’t think he was.”
“If you guys start dating just make sure that you set me up on a date Sohee, the drummer. my god he’s so cute.”
“Sohee?”
Your question goes unanswered when the lights fade. Worrying you for just a few seconds before you hear a guitar riff that makes you turn towards the stage. Just in time for a bright spot light to hit the tall boy who was just standing in front of you a small moment ago.
Hearing the music he’s playing has you gravitating closer towards the stage leaving your best friend behind as you do. Your eyes trained to the handsome guitar player. You think he looks like a star, shining perfectly with his fingers strategically working the strings of the red electric guitar.
The music he’s playing is like a magic spell straight to your heart, feeling your body react to him in a way you’ve never felt with anyone else. Watching him so intently that you forget to blink.
You suck in a sharp gasp when he looks up, and easily locks eyes with you. Never missing a note as he bites on his bottom lip and the rest of the band come in. Once again making it feel like it was just you, him and his guitar.
You break eye contact first out of embarrassment, your whole body heating up just from the intensity of the eye contact. You’ve met attractive guys before, but this was different. This was completely different. It was something about him that was just captivating.
“Give it up for R&R everyone.” The host announces and everyone begins to clap.
You see Eunseok run off stage and make his way back to you. At the same time your best friend walks up beside you.
“How were we?” he asks, partly out of breath.
“You were… amazing. Wow, that was really amazing.” you praise.
“Really?”
“Don’t you think it was good?” you turn the question back around to him.
“I do, I just wanted to know if you liked it?” he says.
The members that you just saw on stage performing with him not too long ago are now standing beside him. Each holding a hand on one of his shoulders while he talks to you.
“These are my bandmates. Sohee our drummer.” He introduces.
The man whose name you’ve just learned sticks his hand out to meet yours, and you notice his bright smile and glistening eyes. You easily recognize his name, you just couldn’t remember where you heard it. But before you could even grasp his hand, your best friend slaps it out of the way to shake his hand instead. Batting her eyelashes and muttering her name and a small “Nice to meet you.” Sohee returns her smile as he turns to look at you and Eunseok all while keeping his hold on your best friends hand.
He’s not as tall as Eunseok, but he’s just as pretty. He has thick dark brown hair that looks extremely soft and you can tell he’s a little younger than the rest of them.
“And this is Seunghan, our lead singer.” Seunghan is taller than Sohee but not as tall as eunseok. He has a small sarcastic smirk that makes you feel like he knows something that you don’t. But you don’t question it aloud.
“Nice to meet you.” You smile at him.
“And lastly, this is Wonbin, our bassist.” Wonbin’s pretty, he looks like someone you’d find as a model for a luxury brand, his long hair just barely covering his face and his smirk towards eunseok makes you feel like you're missing something.
“Wow you all were so good.” You boast at the four boys.
“Thanks.” Seunghan smiles
“But how good is our guitar player, I mean he’s so talented. And look how tall he is.” Wonbin begins to compliment him.
“And he's a true gentleman. He knows how to treat a lady. He’d make a great boyfriend, I must say.” Sohee adds.
“That’s great because Y/n needs a boyfriend.” Your best friend holds your shoulder to show you off. You give her a side glare as Eunseoks friends continue to tease him.
“Okay guys that's enough.” Eunseok attempts to stop them but fails.
“He’s free tomorrow by the way. Well only In the afternoons. He spends his Sunday mornings tending to children in need. Like a good humanitarian.”
“Alright, good night.” Eunseok begins to push his members away.
“I’m also free tomorrow.” You say urgently before he could walk away. you don’t know what possessed you, but you really didn’t wanna let the opportunity pass you by. When he turns back around to face you, you can't hide your smile.
“Great, just uh give him your number and he’ll contact you about a time.” Sohee smiles at you and Eunseok.
“He’s a true romantic, you won’t be disappointed.” Wonbin continues while Eunseok pulls out his phone for you to put your number in. His eyes trained on you as you do.
“Okay you two, enough of your shenanigans.” Seunghan drags the two boys away leaving you alone with Eunseok again.
“I’m sorry about them.” You pass him his phone back with your number now saved
“Don’t be. They seem fun.” You laugh softly.
“They are, but it’s like having a bunch of annoying little brothers.”
You roll your eyes “Tell me about it.” As you say that, you feel your best friend's hard glare burning into the side of your face.
“So I’ll see you tomorrow then.” He questions after a small moment of silence between the two of you.
“Yeah, you will.” You confirm.
“Perfect, see you then.”
“See you.” Just as he walks away to catch up with his members your best friend begins smacking your arm and squealing again.
“Did you see him, isn't he cute?” she doesn’t fail to slap your arm until you’re holding her hands down.
“Who? eunseok?”
“Girl no. Sohee. He’s so fine, god damn.” says your best friend.
“Oh yeah he’s cute, I guess."
“Stay away from my man.” Her smile drops and she’s glaring at you as if you really had intentions of taking (not) her man.
“Huh?” you ask, genuinely confused.
“Okay let’s go home now. They’re all we came for.”
That night you had stayed up thinking about the guitar player you met earlier in the night, remnants of his smile lingered on your mind. Leaving you giggling into the palms of your hands to stop from screaming, squealing and waking your roommate up from her very deep sleep.
Tumblr media
You had a date with a band member. It felt even better to say aloud. Especially because it’s been so long since you’ve allowed yourself to like someone other than that basketball player you've had a crush on for over three months.
“Okay which outfit?”
“One” you held the mini skirt to you waist with a top that you felt matched perfectly
“Or two” you rotated and held up a cute baby blue dress that you thought would be great for a picnic.
“Mm def number one. I love the way that skirt fits your ass. I'm feeling like he’s definitely an ass guy.” Your best friend speaks unsolicited which warrants you to smile and roll your eyes.
“Great, I’ll go with the dress.”
“Ugh, what’s the point of asking.”
“So I know which one not to choose.” Slipping the dress on easily and looking at yourself in the mirror, before you turn back to your friend.
“How do I look?” You ask, turning to her, hoping for her approval.
She doesn’t answer at first. Only walking around to you and fixing parts of the dress that you couldn’t see and moving some strands of hair into position. Once she’s satisfied she finally gives the answer you’ve been waiting for.
“You look great Y/N.” she says softly while looking at you through the mirror. Moments like this are what reminds you of why she was your best friend in the first place. But these moments don’t last long because she always says something right after to make you question your life's decisions.
“Your ass looks really good in this dress too.” She says looking down.
“Thanks...” you say sarcastically.
“See aren’t you glad I dragged you out last night.” she's smiling at you although she already knows what you're going to say.
“No, not really.”
“Look at my baby, she’s growing up and going on dates.” She coos ignoring your answer
“Okay~ I think it’s time for me to go.” You say walking away from her.
“Yes, it is, he’s outside.” She checks your phone looks up at you.
“Outside? Like outside.” You ask to clarify.
“That’s what he just texted you.”
“Oh my god.” You yell.
“Girl go!”
“I'm leaving, I'm leaving.” You yell while you struggle with your shoes, and your best friend runs for your bag, phone, perfume and lip gloss. After you feel you’ve got everything you run towards the door with your best friend behind you.
“Bye, have a good time and remember the rules.” She waves to you as you leave the apartment.
“Of Course bye love you.”
“The Rules.” We’re just a list of commandments the two of you made up on some random night but with good reason of course.
Rule number 1: don’t have sex on the first date
Everyone knows this one. It’s like a rule of thumb, but of course your best friend didn’t know this and she slept with some chlamydia infected rando. She spent the entire night crying which led to this being rule number 1
Rule number 2: when going on a date always keep your location on. Men are weird and the last thing you need is to find your girlfriend's body being discovered on the shore of a lake on national news.
Rule number 3: keep your phone charged, this goes with rule number 2. Safety first babe
Rule number 4: don’t go to a man’s place on the first date. The two of you spend too much time watching crime documentaries
Rule number 5: make sure to get Sohee's number.
She just added this one after setting up your date with “silver stone.”
“There you are.” You immediately recognize the voice calling for you. Turning to find the very man you met yesterday. He’s just as handsome as you remember the night prior, but seeing him in the sunlight accentuates his features such as the curves of his cheek bones.
“Sorry I’m late.” You apologize while walking towards him and his jet black suzuki bike.
“I didn’t mind waiting.” He says standing up from leaning on the bike, with the smile you were quickly learning to love.
“Have you ever ridden on a bike before?” he asks, watching you examine the motorcycle behind him. “No, I’ve always wanted to but I'm so scared.” you admit shyly while shifting your focus back up to him.
“It’s not as scary as you think, don’t worry” You stand in place when he slips his jacket off and walks closer to you. He leans forward and wraps it around your waist to prevent you mooning any drivers behind you if your dress rises up. “There you go”
Tumblr media
Eunseok was also a liar. It wasn’t too scary at first but the second he hit the highway you felt your heart drop to your stomach. You had to close your eyes and tighten your hold around his waist. Even though you knew that if an incident were to happen this wouldn’t save anything. You still just needed something to hold on to.
The ride was only 15 minutes but you could’ve sworn it was longer, by the time he parked you felt nauseous and kinda light headed.
Immediately you throw your helmet off to get some fresh air and calm your racing heart. Your back is turned to him, but you can feel that he’s watching you.
“See that wasn’t too bad.” He smirks at you, while you're still trying catch your breath.
You just hold your index finger up to him because you're too afraid that if you speak, you’re going to throw up.
“You- mm” you stop to take a breath.
“I’m never trusting you again.” you add.
“You’ll get used to it.” he laughs and takes the helmet out of your hand. “Once we head back it’ll be better.”
“Head back?” you hadn’t even thought about the fact that you were gonna have to do it again. “I’ll just take an uber back.”
“Now why would I let you do that?”
“You don’t have a choice.” Once your heart is calmed and you no longer feel the need to puke, you take notice of your surroundings. Quickly noticing that this isn’t the place that people usually host picnics.
“Where are we?”
“My apartment.’ He says casually.
“I thought we were going on a picnic.” You ask, now slightly scared. He didn’t seem too threatening, but neither did Ted Bundy when he picked up his victims.
“We're getting there.” He begins walking and you follow after him, still a little nervous but justifying with the fact that he was tall and attractive. Trying to push back the idea of having to confront your best friend after she finds out you broke the second rule.
You think to help yourself you’ll just turn your location off that way you could at least just lie and pretend that your phone died. Fortunately and unfortunately you didn’t have to lie because as soon as you turned your location off it actually died.
So if he actually was a psychopath you were fucked.
You allow him to guide you to his apartment unit, trying to shush any thoughts of the many torture methods he probally has planned behind his apartment door. Hoping that if you just comply he’d go easy on you.
Once the both of you reach the door you mentally brace yourself for what’s next to come. Looking around and making sure to identify all of the exits in case it is needed. But to your surprise there's just a blanket layed out with snacks, drinks and a pretty decorated cake.
“You put all this together?” you turn and look up at him. Being able to breathe easier, since you walked into his apartment.
“It was kinda last minute, I’ll plan something better next time.” he admits.
If this is last minute you were definitely looking forward to what he’d do when he had the time. You sit down on the pillow seats that he laid out and he takes a seat right beside you, not too close but close enough for you to be able to smell the cologne that he was wearing.
And he keeps that same distance throughout the entire evening. Never once laying a finger on you, even though you really wanted him to. Hoping that maybe he’d at least slide his hand over yours or something but he doesn’t, not even accidentally.
“So how long have you been in your band?” you ask leaning back on your palms to get more comfortable.
“Only a year.” He responds.
“a year? You guys are so good.”
“You think so?”
“I do.” you tilt your head to rest just barely on your shoulder. Watching how his smile grows towards you.
There's a silence between the both of you for just a second, but it isn’t awkward at all. You’re just admiring him and all of his beauty. Finding that he’s extremely easy to be around. His presence is comforting and not at all hostile, like the other guys you’ve talked to.
You’d lost track of time just talking to him, getting to know more about him, just as you wanted. Being alone in his apartment ensured that you had his undivided attention and he had yours. He had nowhere else to look but you. And you loved the way he looked at you, with soft warm and inviting eyes.
“Where’d you learn to play?” You ask when he sits back down with the guitar.
“My dad. He used to play all the time, I guess I just kinda picked it up.” He began to pluck the strings of the instrument.
“This was his favorite song,” he continues.
His fingers dance elegantly along the strings of the guitar. Creating a nice sound to match for when he begins to hum along. “I can’t remember the words, but it went something like-”
He continues to sing how he thinks he remembers the song going, playing along as he does. Naturally you close your eyes to just listen to him. Listening to how clear and deep his voice is, how it causes you to melt away.
“Do you know any other songs?” you say when he finishes.
He looks up at you, and pauses before he speaks. Taking a quick glance of your lips, he looks away faster than you can blink, but you still catch it.
“Uh- yeah. Yeah I know a few.” he stutters a little trying to avoid making eye contact with you.
“I’ll play another one.” He finally looks at you one last time, but you’re still giving him the lustful gaze you gave him a few moments ago when he looked at you the first time. He tries to look away but he likes the eye contact you guys are keeping. He likes it so much that he slightly throws his guitar from over his lap and reaches over to place both hands on each side of your face. Pulling you in for an intense and heated kiss.
One hand still rested on your cheek and the other hand sliding behind your head right above your neck. He can feel you smiling into the kiss, happy for him to finally be touching you the way you wanted.
You pull away first, lips swollen and heavy breathing but there's still little to no distance between the both of you. His eyes never leave yours when he’s still trying to catch his breath. You find that he looks even more attractive this way, he was charming before but he just looks so enchanting right now.
He’s looking at you like he needs more and you’re more than happy to give it to him because you feel the exact same way. Now it’s your turn to grab his face and pull him into another eager kiss until he gently lays you on the floor and you wrap your arms around his neck to get him as close to you as possible.
Tumblr media
You’d say the date went well, you got a chance to know more about him just as you wanted to. Just not in the way you thought you would.
“Do you need me to walk you up?” He asks when you hand him back his extra helmet. “Um no, I think I’ll be fine.” You say although you’re really just scared of how your friend will react when she sees him bringing you back so late.
“Oh…” He says rubbing his hand across the back of his neck.
“But I did have a lot of fun tonight.” you hurry and say to stop him from getting the wrong idea. “Good, I enjoyed myself too.” he smiles when you do. “I think it’s time for me to go in.” You say although, you stand there for a while longer. Just looking at him. “Goodnight.” He replies to you.
“Goodnight.” you linger for just a few seconds longer. “I’ll text you later.” you say lastly before finally getting ready to walk away. “Oh by the way…” He says before you could go anywhere.
“Is your friend single?” he finishes.
“Huh?” you’re at a loss for words. You don’t even know how to react to that question after the both of you just spent hours talking and making out on his apartment floor.
He sees the way your jaw goes slack and he rushes to defend himself, waving his palm in the air.
“No no no, It’s not what you’re thinking. Sohee was just interested, and very adamant about making sure that I got her information.”
“Oh?” you laugh feeling relieved. “Oh, yeah that makes sense. I knew that.” you lie.
And he lets out a sigh of relief
“Here,” He says as he pulls up Sohee’s contact on his phone. “You can just send him her number.” He continues as he passes his phone to you.
“Okay,” You say when you pass the phone back to him, having sent your bestfriends number to Sohee. “Great, I’ll text you tomorrow then.” He says.
“And I’ll answer.”
The conversation lingers for just a while longer before you watch him ride off on his bike and you make your way up to your apartment unit. Giggly about your date with Eunseok. You expect your best friend to be asleep at this time of night, so you try your best to be quiet when you sneak in. Carefully turning the doorknob and opening the door to your dark apartment.
However you couldn’t be anymore wrong as your face is nearly met with a shoe the second you open the door. You don’t even get a chance to say anything before another one comes flying at you. “What the hell are you doing?” You finally get a chance to yell in between her throwing yet another shoe.
“Do you know what time it is?” She yells at you. “It’s one in the morning. Where the hell were you?” She continues. “Why is your location off?” “Why haven’t you been answering my calls?”
She asks a million questions without giving you time to answer any of them. “Do you know how worried I was?”
“Aww you care about me?” You clench your heart.
“No! Who’s gonna pay your half of the rent if you’re dead??”
“Oh?” you throw your hands back down to your side.
“Well, now that I know you’re alive. Tell me everything.” She squeals and plops down on the couch. FInally calming down so you could sit down besides her.
“Okay~ so we went back to his apartment-” “You went to his apartment?” She raises her voice to you once again.
“Yeah, but look I’m alive.” You stand and hold your hands up in defense before she could hit you again.
“...Fine.” She rolls her eyes and puts her arms back down from getting ready to hit you. “But why was your location off, and why didn’t you answer any of my calls?”
“My phone died.” you try to plead your case.
“So did you follow any of the rules?” She throws her hands down.
“Well-” You begin to say but get cut off when her phone rings and she shifts her attention from you to her phone. “Oh it’s sohee… continue.” she begins nonchalantly.
“Okay so we-” You get cut off again when she begins screaming, “Sohee texted me, oh my god my man texted me” she starts jumping all over you when she comes to reality.
“wait… you had sex?” she stops thinking about sohee to continue
“uh.. look sohee texted you!” you try to distract her
“Y/n don’t play with me.”
“We only kissed.”
“with tongue?” she asks
“maybe…” you say looking off to the side.
“Oh my god, I knew I should've given you those condoms.”
“We didn't need the condoms.”
“you’re right, I'm definitely ready to be a godmother.” She shakes her head. “Godmother?” you question.
“So does this mean Sungchan is out of the picture?”
“No, me and eunseok were just a one time thing. That’s what he does with girls anyways, Right?”
Tumblr media
Sungchan, Jung Sungchan?  Tall and attractive basketball player you’ve been tutoring for three months and crushing on since forever? No. He’s never gonna be out of the picture.
Although, it’s definitely safe to say he was never even in the picture. considering you’ve been waiting on him to make a move since he accidentally slipped up and directly described you as his ideal type.
It was only 2 weeks ago but you really hated the anticipation of waking up everyday wondering if it was gonna be the day he finally asked you out.
And it still hadn’t changed even today when you walk into your biology class, searching for him immediately only to find that he was already looking at you. smiling and waving for you to come over.
“Goodmorning.” he speaks first
“goodmorning.”
“I got you coffee.” He says placing the cup of iced americano in front of you.
“You didn’t have to.” You take your seat besides him.
“I wanted to thank you for helping me pass my midterms.”
“It's my job.”
“and you do it very well. Also, are you busy today? It'd be nice to have you cheer me on at practice.”
“I’ll be there.”
You guys were already basically dating, with you showing up to all his basketball practices and games. going over to his apartment or having him come to yours. knowing all of his friends and even texting each other goodnight/goodmorning.
The only thing missing was the official title of being his girlfriend.
“Good morning class.” The professor starts and waits for everyone to respond before carrying on with her lesson for the day. “You all will be put into groups of three to work on a project. And of course, I will be choosing teams.”
She reads off the list for a while before getting to you.
“Okay group number 5, Y/N, Eunseok…” The last name goes completely unheard. You’re scrunching your eyebrows thinking that maybe there has to be a mistake because you don’t have a class with someone named Eunseok.
“Sweet we get to work together.” Sungchan nudges you and you give him a half smile while looking around the room for the person you met last night. and sure enough you find the handsome guitar player sitting by the window of the room. his eyes already on you.
If there was a word that could accurately describe the emotions you’re going through it’d be fucked. Was there a better word? Probably but the only word that came to mind was fuck. Well actually the first word that came to mind was “Huh” because you had never noticed that you shared this class with him before now.
But also because you thought you’d never see him again after last night. Assuming that he probably had a list of girls on his roster. But now that you knew that you were gonna be seeing him a lot more than you thought, you were fucked.
“Eunseok… Hey.” You say trying to muster up a sincere smile.
“Oh do you guys know each other?”  Sungchan asks, looking at the both of you.
“Yeah.” Eunseok answers before you can say anything
“Only a little.” you add, trying to ignore the way Eunseok looks at you. “There’s a seat right here.” Sunghchan says, pointing to the chair beside him. You were no genius but allowing your somewhat one night stand to sit beside your potential boyfriend just didn’t seem like the brightest idea.
So that’d justify why you suddenly and aggressively yell “no” when sungchan offers. “I mean, you can just sit right here.” You giggle when they both look at you shocked.
Tumblr media
Sports were never really your thing, but it became your thing when you started tutoring Sungchan. Loving the way he looks when he’s all sweaty, out of breath and his index finger always points directly to you right before he makes a shot.
Seeing him on the court always reminds you of why you stayed up late nights talking your best friend’s head off about him. He’s good at what he does and he also looks hella good doing it. Yes, him being tall, and a basketball player does play a big role in why you’re so attracted to him, but that wasn’t why you fell for him in the first place. It’d definitely have to be how special he made you feel, or how often he praised and complimented you.
Or it could have been the way he always goes straight to you whenever he helps to win one of his games. You were still trying to figure out exactly why you liked him so much, but also trying to find out if he even liked you, or if you just thought he did.
“Water?” you ask when he runs to you, and hunches over with his hands on his knees while trying to catch his breath.
“Thanks.” He receives the water bottle from your hand and you observe how much smaller the bottle looks when he’s holding it. Your eyes stay trained to him when he brings the drink up his lips and he tilts his head back for the water to easily slide down his throat. You pay attention to the way his arm slightly flexed and how his damp hair stuck to certain parts of his forehead and around his face.
“I’m gonna go get changed and then we can get ready to go.” He speaks through his heavy breaths, while pushing his hair back once again flexing his arm.
“Okay.”
He leans down again, this time his breaths are stable. He just wants to get on your level so you don't have to look up at him. Making eye contact with you when he does so.
“You did a good job cheering for me.” He smiles at you, easily leaving you flustered when he speaks so only you could hear him.
“Isn’t that why you asked me to come?”
“That’s exactly why I asked, nobody else does it like you.”
“Go get changed Sungchan.” You push him away weakly.
There were many reasons why you liked sungchan, so it’s very hard to really pinpoint when you actually started falling for him and why. He was sweet, and funny, He was also very gentle with you. He was completely different from the stereotypes that other sports players had built for themselves.
“You have 3 months until the big game,” You begin to start a conversation while walking beside him to your car.
“Yeah, I’m kinda nervous about it.”
“You’re nervous? You’re Jung Sungchan, best player on the whole team. You’re gonna do amazing.”
“Are you gonna be there?” he stops in front of you.
“I wouldn’t miss it.” You say looking up at him.
“Then we’ll definitely win.”
If only he was your boyfriend. If only he was your boyfriend you could kiss him goodbye instead of just imagining it. If only he was your boyfriend you could hold his hand instead of letting it just swing closely, just to get half the satisfaction of having your hand in his.
If you had to give all of the reasons why you liked sungchan, you’d probably run out of time and breath. But if you were to give just the one reason you’d even consider looking at someone else it’d be because he strung you along as if you had all the time in the world.
Because he’d say and do things that make you feel like there’s just no way he doesn’t like you the way you like him. But then he’d also say and do things that make you feel like you’re just reaching.
“I’ll te-” His stopped mid sentence when two girls who you assumed were best friends walk up behind the both of you. Looking up at him, because of the way he towers over the three of you.
“Sungchan.” one of the girls speaks.
You watch him turn around to face the girls, and then switch your focus to watch them. They’re pretty, both of them. It doesn’t make you question yourself but it is something that you observe.
“I think you’re really cute, can I have your number?” She asks, completely ignoring you standing behind him. even if she had acknowledged you it wouldn't change anything. it wasn’t like you could get mad and call her a home wrecker or anything.
But when he turns to you instead of answering first you feel a kaleidoscope of butterflies in your stomach. Nodding your head to ensure that you didn’t have an issue with him giving them his number. Were you actually okay with it? no. but you were curious to see what he was going to do.
He pleasantly surprises you when he shakes his head no, and wraps one of his arms around your shoulders. “I’m kinda busy right now.”
“ah, I'm so sorry for bothering you guys.” the girl looks at you and then runs off with her friend
When they’re gone you look up to him expecting to talk about the interaction that just happened. but he doesn’t, only moving his arm from around you and continuing from where he left off before he was interrupted.
“I'll text you later.” he says, opening the door to your car.
“Okay”
“drive safe.” Is the last thing he says before you split ways.
“I will.”
Tumblr media
And the night with Eunseok? You plan on never talking or even thinking about it again. Was it fun? Yes, you definitely enjoyed yourself. And you wouldn’t be convincing anyone if you said that you hadn’t even thought about him once since last night.
But if you were thinking about making things work with Sungchan, then you had to go about life pretending that Eunseok didn’t even exist. Which he was making very hard to do.
You look away from your notes to look at the notification that pops up on your phone. Assuming that it’s probably Sungchan texting you just he assured you he would. However the name that flashes across your phone isn’t Sungchans.
“Shit.” You whisper aloud and it causes your best friend to also look away from her notes. “What?”
“Eunseok just texted me.” You shyly admit.
“Why’s that a bad thing?” She sits up fully.
“I didn’t think he’d talk to me again.”
“So you just wanted to fuck and never talk again.” She bluntly asks.
“We didn’t have sex… and yes. I thought that he did that with everyone.”
“Okay what did he say?” She points to your phone, while still looking at you.
“He asked if I was busy.”
“Well hurry up and text him back before he thinks you are busy.” She gestures to your phone.
“I can’t text him, what about Sungchan?” You ask.
“Sungchan? As in Jung Sungchan. Girl, are we still talking about this man?” You best friend rolls her eyes.
“Sungchan whom I’ve had a crush on since forever.”
“Exactly and where has that gotten you?”
Leave it to her to be brutally honest with you, while also making you feel incredibly stupid
“We’re working on it.”  You say lowly and look to the side.
“Yeah right, tell him you’re free.”
“Fine.”
You aren’t doing anything wrong, right? It’s not like you and Sungchan are actually dating. Actually you are a free woman, so why not explore your options. Besides, you're just hanging out so really you aren’t doing anything wrong.
His response comes immediately after you tell him you’re not doing anything. “He said he wants me to come watch them rehearse.” You bite your bottom lip while looking at your best friend.
Tumblr media
You’ve come to find that you actually love watching Eunseok play. You can tell just how much he loves what he does. All in the way his fingers elegantly dance along with the strings, creating a captivating melody that has you mesmerized.
While subconsciously leaning forward, you stop focusing on his hands and start focusing on his face. How concentrated he looks trying to get the notes right on his instrument.
He looks up when he begins to feel you watching him, smiling when his eyes meet yours.
“You wanna try?”
“No, no I can't, I'll break it.” You shake your head and wave your hands but he doesn’t listen to any of your arguments as he stands up and gently hooks the guitar strap around your shoulder. While resting the heavy instrument in your lap.
“Eunseok,” You look up at him, protesting once again.
“Just hold it like this.” He says, moving your hand to where it needs to be.
“Then just…” He demonstrates by grabbing your other hand and using your own fingers to strum the strings of his guitar. Showing you a few times before he allowed you to try again on your own.
“See you’ve got it.” He speaks right by your ear, still holding the neck of the guitar up so you’d be more comfortable.
“I did it!” you smile, not noticing how close he was until you turn your face to look at him. When his lips are so close to yours, you suddenly feel like you have stopped breathing. Your body goes into complete shock for a few seconds, and you don't know what to do.
“Uh, what a nice guitar, how much was this?” You begin to ramble, out of complete embarrassment, Striking a few chords on his guitar and jumping when they come out horrible.
“I’ll just give this back.”
Your heart's racing now and you feel the heat rush to your cheeks. Why did you let your roommate talk you into this? The “why” is unclear and all you know is that his small and deep laugh doesn’t help aid in the embarrassment you feel right now.
“I can teach you more if you want.”
“Uh, no it’s fine. That’s definitely more your thing.” You shake your head and pass him the guitar back.
You glance up at the other boys, seeing that they had paused their practicing just to watch you and Eunseok. “Actually, maybe I should go. I don’t wanna interrupt you guys' practice time.” You look back up to him.
“You aren’t interrupting anything.”
He says to try to stop you and when it doesn’t work he looks over at wonbin. Who’s only gesturing at him to go after you.
“Let me at least walk you to your car.” He speaks up as he runs behind you.
“Okay.” is all that you say, slowing down so that he can catch up with you and walk in silence. You have a bunch of thoughts running through your head, feeling the need to get them all out before you forget everything.
“About last night,” He stops walking completely when you begin to speak.
“I just wanted to apologize. I don’t usually do that, well I’m not usually like that. I don’t know what happened. And I hope that it doesn’t make things awkward between us.” You explain
“We can just forget it all happened if you want.”
“Could we?”
“Of course.”
He smiles at you and you smile back, relieved to have gotten that off your chest. Knowing that class is gonna be so much easier now that you aren’t giving him the wrong Idea.
“But we can still hang out right. Because I really like hanging out with you.” He continues when you start to walk again.
Hearing him say that makes you realize, you actually like hanging out with him too. Watching him play and getting to know him better.
“I like hanging out with you too.” You turn to look up at him when you finally reach your car.
“So I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“Yes, you will.”
It goes quiet again, mainly because there’s nothing else left to say. But you’re not ready to leave yet. You suddenly start to feel the same way you felt when you first met him. It could have been because there was no one else around so he had nowhere else to look but at you.
Having his eyes on you was like having your own personal spotlight, his dark obsidian eyes shining down on you like you were the prettiest thing to walk the earth. That might have been the reason you slowly gravitated closer to him. Slowly closing the space between both of you until your chest was pressed against his.
He leans down but only a little, just enough for you to feel his breath brush against your face. And he’s still not as close as you want him to be. So you latch on to each of his shoulders and get up on your tippy toes so that your face could be leveled with his.
Now his nose is barely touching yours, and your eyes are trained to his lips. Pausing before you think to kiss him, “Are you gonna apologize for this tomorrow?” He asks against your lips,
“Probably,” you say and it comes out almost in a whisper.
Despite your answer he still wraps his arms around your waist as if it were even possible for you to get even closer to him. And he attaches his lips onto yours, while leaning down to your height so that  you could place your feet flatly on the ground again.
Your arms wrap tightly around his neck pulling him towards you like he’s the last man you’re ever gonna kiss.
“okay.” you whisper when you break the kiss
“okay.”
“Goodnight.”
“goodnight.” the two of you go back and forth.
“I should probably go now.”
“Alright, get home safe.” he says but neither of you let go of eachother. your arms still wrapped tightly around his neck and his hands still sitting firmly on your waist.
Tumblr media
Maybe it was a good thing you let your best friend drag you out that night. Even though she never made good on her promises, but it wasn’t like you were expecting much from her. Being with Eunseok was so much different than anything you’ve ever experienced. He did all the things you wanted Sungchan to, and he was just as gentle with you as Sungchan was. He listened to you and made you feel desired.
Which is exactly why you agreed everytime he asked you out again.
However, with going on dates with Eunseok and still somewhat kinda seeing Sungchan things had begun to overlap and it started to get hard balancing the both of them. So you went to get advice from the person that got you in this mess in the first place.
“Alright how about this, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, are for sungchan. Since he was here first.” your best friend writes down on the notebook in between you.
“Okay.” you nod
“and then Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are for Eunseok.”
“And sunday?” You ask, looking up at her.
“That’s your day off, this is a full time job.” She explains
“oh.”
And you knew you could trust her. (No you didn’t) That’s why she was your best friend, she always had the best advice. (No she didn’t)
Going between the two boys was actually quite easy, and even kinda fun. Coming home to recap with your best friend after everyday and using code names so that her new boyfriend wouldn’t catch on.
“Any progress with the frog?” You best friend asked when you sat your laptop down on the coffee table and took a seat criss cross on the floor in front of it.
“He told me his grades are getting better. That’s a good thing.” you answer.
“You know that’s not what I’m asking.” You didn’t have to look to know that she was rolling her eyes.
“He’s been practicing a lot.” You answer again, still trying to avoid the question you knew she was asking.
“Did you guys kiss?” She just asks
“Wait, Kiss? Like a princess and the frog kinda kiss? Wait, you guys have a frog that can play basketball?” Sohee sits up confused.
“It’s just girl stuff, don’t you worry your pretty little head about it.” Your best friend says while leaning in to give him small butterfly kisses on his lips.
“Okay.” He obeys and goes back to laying his head on her lap.
“No, we didn’t kiss. We haven’t done anything.” You answer her question and turn back around towards your laptop to finish the list of assignments you’ve been putting off since you were spending more time with sungchan and Eunseok.
“And the rock?” is all she says, but it causes your lips to turn up into a smile. And you have to look to the side so that she doesn’t see the way your excitement grows when you think about him.
“We…” You start
“You really like him huh?” She asks
“The rock?” Sohee sits up again.
“It’s nothing, baby.” She shushes him.
Tumblr media
She was right, you definitely did like him, a little too much you think.
So much so that even when you weren’t around him you were still thinking about him. So much so that small things reminded you of him. So much so that your heart did a little cartwheel whenever you got a message from him.
It was just so easy to be with him, you didn’t even have time to think about if he liked you or not.
Eunseok kept his hand loosely around yours while you jumped and squealed at all the sea animals in the aquarium. Pointing to the ones that you thought were especially enchanting, While you watched the swimming sea creatures he watched you.
Paying attention to how he could see the reflections of the fishes through your eyes, seeing how your face lit up.
“This is so beautiful.” You whisper. “Isn’t it?” He says
“Sometimes I wish I was a fish…” You speak while still staring ahead. “I could see this everyday.” you say referencing the pretty scenes of underwater life.
“if you were a fish, you’d be a jellyfish” he said looking at the fish swimming behind the glass.
You turn your head to watch him when he moves to stand behind you and wrap his arms around your torso.
“Why a jellyfish?”
“Cause they're my favorite sea animal, and they're really pretty.” He turns and  smiles down at you.
“You think I’m pretty?” You ask but he doesn’t answer. Only leaning down to give you a chaste kiss on the lips.
“You didn’t answer my question.” You turn your whole body around to face him.
“I don’t think pretty is a strong enough word to describe you.” He whispers against your lips right before he gives another kiss. This one being more passionate and intense than the first one.
If this was something that he did with everyone, you bet they felt special. Because you definitely did. No matter how many times you tried to tell yourself not to get too attached to him, he always did something that made you imagine what it’d be like to go all the way with him.
But then there’s sungchan…
Tumblr media
And when you were with sungchan things were just different.
You kicked a bit of sand up every time you took a step, walking beside Sungchan with your hands dangling beside you. The beach was completely empty, it’s just you and sungchan walking along the shore listening to the crashing of waves.
The shades of blue and orange reflected off the vast sea beside you. The wind blowing past your skin causes you to shiver and wrap your sweater tighter around your body.
You weren’t a big fan of beaches, or more the idea of them. The crowds of people sunbathing in the sand and having your food stolen by unruly seagulls. But this wasn’t that, this was romantic and intimate.
It was perfect, being here with sungchan not a care in the world.
“Are you cold?” He asks slipping his jacket off
“No, I’m okay.” He ignores you completely and wraps his varsity jacket over your shoulders
“Thanks.” You tug the ends of the jacket closer together.
“The sunset is so pretty.” You look out beside you, watching specifically where the sky and the sea meet. Even with the harsh crashing of waves and screaming of birds, it still wasn’t enough to cover the awkward silence that the both of you had managed to maintain.
“I usually come here when I’m stuck on something and I don’t know what to do.”
“What are you stuck on?” You turn to ask him.
He stops walking and it kinda starts to scare you.
“I don’t know how to say this.” that’s when you hold your breath, for the first time in a long time you think he’s about to ask the question you’ve been wanting him to ask.
“It’s okay, take your time.” you grab his hand without breaking eye contact with him.
Not another word leaves his mouth, because instead of telling you what’s been bothering him. He just leans down and connects his lips with yours.
It’s gentle and tender. Just how you always imagined your first kiss with him would be. It was amazing, it’s like waking up on Christmas and seeing that you got exactly what you asked for. But when you pull away from the kiss and look up your heart drops.
You liked being with Eunseok, but you’ve always liked Sungchan. You were very sure of it. So why did you imagine Eunseok when Sungchan kissed you?
The thought confuses you so much that you go back for another kiss from him, hoping that his one would reset your brain and get you back on track. But it doesn’t because when you open your eyes, You still see Sungchan.
Tumblr media
“How did it go, with the frog?” your best friend asks the second you walk back into your shared apartment.
“It was good.”
“It doesn’t sound too good.” She says, “Did anything happen?”
“Yeah, umm we kissed.” You say nonchalantly
“Oh my god he finally made a move?” She begins to celebrate for you
“Wait, so are you like… into frogs?” Sohee walks to counter where you and your best friend are.
“No, I thought I was but now I think I like the rock, because when the frog kissed me all I could think about was the rock and now I’m confused.”
“You were thinking about the rock?” You best friend asks
“So you like to kiss rocks?” Sohee adds
“No boy hush.” She holds her index finger out to him.
“GIrl what are you on?” she turns back to you
“This is your fault, I knew I shouldn’t have continued to see him.”
“Wait so you told her to kiss the frog?” Sohee asks, still very confused.
“I told you to go out with him, have fun, be young. Not, fall in love with him.”
“Are we talking about the rock or the frog?” Sohee interjects again.
“I’m not in love with him, I don’t even like him.” You roll your eyes
“Okay I don’t know what’s going on but I know that’s a lie. Because the way you talk about the rock makes me want to find a rock. Sohee turns to you
“So you’d cheat on me with a rock.” Your best friend turns to him.
“No, of course not. There’s no rock in the world that looks at me the way you do.”
“And there never will be.” She adds, “But my baby is right, you definitely like the rock.”
“No, I like the frog.” You correct.
“Not anymore.” they both say in sync.
Tumblr media
Confused as you were, you didn’t stop seeing him. You needed to find if  you actually like him, or if you just liked the way he made you feel.
You sat right in front of the stage where Eunseok and his band performed. He was right, over time you’d gotten used to being at these kinds of events. Just not for the reason you imagined, you liked being here because he was here. You got to see him in his element.
And you found this is where he was his best.
Even though you’d gotten used to being here, it didn’t make the music any better. It just got easier to tune out. The only music being bearable was the music that Eunseok made. The music that got you here in the first place. The music that made you question your true feelings.
You’re lost in thought, staring at him. Watching him flick at the strings of the guitar and while you were watching you failed to notice that the song he was performing wasn’t a song you heard before. It’s beautiful and different from any of the other songs they’ve done.
It’s slower in tempo and amorous. Just the song he was playing made you realize that you might actually like him, You might like him alot. It wasn’t just the way he made you feel, it was him himself.
And you become very sure of it when leaves the stage and makes his way to you kissing you in front of everyone. You become sure of it when he kisses you and you don’t imagine anyone else but him.
“R&R everyone.” You faintly hear in the speakers behind you.
But then there was sungchan.
“You’re gonna be at the game right?” He asks, leaning against the door in front of you.
“I told you a million times, I won’t miss it.”
“I just wanna make sure you remember, I’ll be sad if you don’t make it.”
“I’ll definitely be there, sungchan.”
“Promise?”  he asks, holding out his pinky to you.
“Really?” You laugh
“Yes, I need you to promise me.”
You’re still giggling but you wrap your pinky finger around his and give him the reassurance that he wants to hear.
“I promise that I’ll be there. I’ll be cheering louder than anyone else.” You promise with your finger still looped around his.
“Good.” He gets ready to give you a small peck, but out of panic you turn your head so he kisses your cheek instead and start fake coughing so he doesn’t think anything of it.
“Sorry, I think I’m coming down with something.” You say in between coughs. “But I’ll see you tomorrow, Sorry, bye.” You don’t give him any time to say anything before you close the door right in his face.
The second you close the door and turn around, you’re faced with your best friend. “That’s messed up.”
“What?”
“You know what.” She smirks, putting an emphasis on the “know”.
“I didn’t know what else to do.”
“I'm not judging girl. do your thing.” she points and walks back towards her room.
it definitely felt like she was judging, but you couldn’t blame her. you were judging too.
Tumblr media
You were there, just as you promised.  Sitting on the bleachers, screaming his name whenever you felt appropriate.
The scores are too close to even predict who you think is gonna win, but you think it doesn’t even matter. because no matter what, you just wanted to be here to support sungchan.
Although you can’t help but feel your heart drop when you see the  look on his face, when he looks up at the scores and then looks around the gym to find you . Wishing that you could just just the numbers yourself. or that there was at least something you could do, but there wasn’t anything left to do but sit there and cheer for him like you promised you’d do.
When halftime comes around you make your way down to him, with a bottle of water in hand.
“you’re here.” He smiles even though he’s still out of breath.
“I told you I would be.”
“I didn’t see you at first, I was starting to get worried.”
“I can tell.”
“Really, was I bad?” he asks, sitting up straight when he’s gotten his breaths tamed.
“You’re doing good Sungchan, can’t wait to celebrate when you win.”
“I’m glad you’re here.” he says lastly and you respond with “I made you a promise.” before he leans down to place a small kiss on your cheek.
“Okay, now go win this game.” you pat his back.
“you better be watching when I do.” He points to you when he runs back over to his team.
“Who's winning?” Your best friend asks in your ear.
“Omg you’re here.” you get up and squeal when you see her.
“don’t be too happy, I'm only here to save your ass for what’s about to happen.”
“What's about to happen?” You ask.
“If I tell you, then it won’t happen.” she shrugs
This is one of those many times that you’d like to throw her in a box and ship her to australia. because now you’re trying to think of every possible scenario of what could go wrong.
And you wished she’d just tell you, so you could prevent whatever catastrophe is about to take place.
as you’re still thinking Sohee walks in and takes a seat besides your best friend. His arm instantly wrapped around her when he asks “who’s winning.”
“So far it’s a tie.” you explain distantly.
“oh yeah, eunseoks waiting for you in the hallway.”
“Eunseok?” you ask jumping up.
“yeah. he’s in the hallway.” he says again.
You run out of the gym and into the hallway where you expect to find Eunseok. Looking around hastily when you see him already smiling at you.
“What are you doing here?” you question when he pulls you into a hug, planting a small kiss on your lips.
“It seemed really important to you.” He looks down at you, with you still wrapped in his arms
“Sungchan’s playing, and he’s been working really hard. so I just couldn’t miss this.” You explain.
“You guys must be very close.” he asks but it comes out more as a statement than a question.
“Yeah, you could say that.” You agree.
“Okay, well you finish watching the game… while i go get us some snacks.” he says in between kisses.
“I'll come with you. I need to make sure you get the right ones.”  You speak against his lips.
“I'll get the right ones.”
“But i need to make sure.” You go back and forth with him.
“sounds like you’re just trying to make excuses.”
“I'm not making excuses, I'm just very picky about my snacks.” you smile up at him before going in for
Time went by so fast you didn’t even realize you were out for so long. Neither of you even made it to get snacks because you stood in the hallway kissing him. not realizing that the game was over until you heard claps and screams coming from inside the gym.
“Fuck.” You curse under your breath when you realize that you had missed the entire game.
“what?”
“i gotta go.” he starts to ask why but you don’t explain anything as you run back into the gym to see Sungchan and his team cheering. Making it obvious to you, who had won.
This must’ve been what your best friend was trying to warn you about. this had to be it, because all the guilt you’re feeling right now makes you wanna cry.
Especially when Sungchan runs over to you with the biggest smile on his face. A smile that you tried to match but failed. Luckily he was too proud of himself to notice how you were feeling.
“you won.” you say to mask the guilt that’s eating you inside out.“I knew you would.”
“I did it for you.”
It was sickening to say the least, Sungchan made the winning shot in your name and you weren’t even there to see it. What's even worse is when he grabs your hand to wrap up in a hug and places a tender kiss on your forehead.
Tumblr media
“you gotta come out at some point.” you’ve locked yourself in your room and decided not to talk to anybody at all, because of how bad you felt about what you did to sungchan. And to be honest you weren’t really ready to face either one of them in class.
“Go away.” You yell from your bed.
“Girl. don’t get mad at me cause you decided to have your tongue down your man's throat while your other man was winning a basketball game for you.” She snaps back
“You’re not making me feel any better.” You
“You shouldn’t even feel bad, you think either of them are locking themselves in their room and crying because they kissed another girl.” she questions through the door..
That’s when you get up and walk to your door to say what you have to say to her face.
“I don’t know how much it meant to him that I was there, and I missed it. I couldn’t even do the one thing he asked me for.”
“Okay? He probably hasn’t even noticed that you missed the last three days of classes. And besides he’s just been stringing you along. It’s not like he was really ever gonna make any commitment to you.”
She was wrong, but she’s always wrong. That’s something about her, she has a fantastic talent of being just wrong all the time. This time she was wrong about sungchan not noticing that you missed class.
Because he stood right in front of your apartment door with your favorite ice cream. Getting ready to knock when he sees Eunseok get off the elevator with a paper bag in hand. They both look at eachother confused but Eunseok is the first to speak,
“What are you doing here?”
“I’m here to see my girlfriend.” Sungchan says adjusting the tin of ice cream in his hand.
“Are you aware that your girlfriend has a boyfriend?” Eunseok asks referring to your best friend,
“Huh?”
While you’re still explaining to your best friend why you’re so hurt about what you did to Sungchan. There's a knock at the door that causes you to jump slightly. You hold your breath while your best friend walks over to answer the door.
“Y/n your boyfriends are here.” She yells which warrants them to look at each other and then back at her.
“Huh?” They say in unison.
“Fuck.” you curse under your breath.
You walk out to the living room, to see that indeed both Sungchan and eunseok were standing side by side staring back at you with confused expressions written on their faces.
If you could pull out a sword and swallow it right there, you would. Right in front of them, maybe then that would solve every life problem you’ve ever had, including this one.
“What.. umm. What are you doing here?” You’re not even sure which of them you’re directing it to.
“I thought you were sick so I bought ice cream.” “I brought your favorite ice cream.” they both say at the same time.
“You brought ice cream cause you thought she was sick?” Your best friend asks but she gets ignored when Sungchan looks down to the jar of ice cream that Eunseok’s holding. “That’s not her favorite.”
“She loves this one.” Eunseok looks at him.
“She likes cookies and cream.” Sungchan speaks holding up the ice cream that he's holding in his own hands.
“She hates cookies and cream,” Your best friend answers before you even get a chance to say anything.
“I thought you liked cookies and cream.” Sungchan finally looks at you.
“I do like it.” You lie.
“Now girl, why are you lying?” You best friend speaks up for you.
“Shut the fuck up.” You turn to say to her with gritted teeth,
“Oh my bad, she loves cookies and cream because she can’t ever just choose one flavor.”
“Do you ever stop talking?” you ask passive aggressively.
To that she just throws her hands up in the air and mutters a very insincere “sorry.” while walking to her room.
“So do you like cookies and cream? Cause I can go get a different one if you don’t like this one.”
“I love cookies and cream.” You lie through a tight smile as you look at Eunseok who could very easily tell you were lying. And you knew it, especially with the way he cocks one of his eyebrows up.
“Thank you guys for-” You start but get cut off by Eunseok. “Who’s Sungchan’s girlfriend?” He asks, leaving you confused.
“Sungchan’s girlfriend?” You repeat, looking at Sungchan, your heart completely beating outside of your chest.
“You’re my girlfriend.” He responds to you.
“Huh? Your girlfriend?” you ask now even more confused.
“I thought we made things official that day at the beach.”
“You didn’t say anything, you just kissed me” By the time you think to stop yourself, it’s too late. You’re too scared to look at Eunseoks reaction but you do anyways. “Do you like him?” he asks calmly and it makes you nervous.
“I..” You're not even sure how to answer the question with them both standing in front of you.
“I understand.” He places the jar of ice cream in your hands and walks out of the door. “No, I-” Instinctively you go to chase after him. But sungchan’s voice alone stops you right in your tracks. “What are you doing?”
What are you doing? Things were never supposed to get this serious with Eunseok. So why do you feel so disappointed seeing that Sungchan is still here instead of him. And would things be better if it were the other way around.
“Sorry- I think you should go.” You finally look up at him.
“What?”
“You should just go.” You say once again, trying to blink back the tears that are threatening to fall. Watching him silently leave, taking the ice cream with him.
Tumblr media
It’s been six days since you’ve talked to either Sungchan or Eunseok. You’d say it was better this was, but that’d be a lie. It was better when your heart didn’t drop every time you ran into Eunseok in the hallway, or at least when he would just respond to your text,
It was better  when you didn’t feel a wave of disappointment whenever you opened your notifications only to see that it was just Sungchan begging you to talk to him. It was better when you didn’t go through your day feeling like there was something missing.
The rain tapping against your window eases your mind as you reread through all of Sungchans messages. Your bottom lip tucked in between your teeth and your books laid out across the floor, from when you attempted to catch up on your homework but failed when google decided to notify you about your old photos with Sungchan.
Sungchan: Hi
Sungchan: Can we please talk?
Sungchan: Fine, I'll just talk.
Sungchan: I know I haven’t been really straightforward with you about how I felt. So I hope that I can fix that now, I like you. I like you alot and I miss you and I just want you to talk to me please. I don’t know what I did wrong but if you just tell me I'll fix it, I promise I will.
The more you read the last message the heavier your heart gets. Once again you feel like you're about to cry, but you can’t because you’ve already cried all you can cry. You know you need to put your phone down and do something else to take your mind off of this but no matter how many times you tell yourself that you just can’t put it down.
It doesn’t help that it’s completely silent, there’s nothing here at all to distract you from your own thoughts. and when you think about opening your social media accounts nothing seems entertaining enough to keep you from clicking off of them and back on to sungchans messages.
However, the knock at the door is more than enough to make you forget everything. you get up to answer it assuming it’s just one of your neighbors or something, but when you open it to see sungchan right across from you, you almost close the door in his face. or at least you imagine it.
“Why are you here?” you mutter.
“I really need to talk to you.” He walks right in and closes the door.
“We-”
“Just listen, I like you, I like being around you, I like talking to you. I like the way you support me, the way you make me feel. I know I’ll never find someone even close to you and I know It shouldn’t have taken me this long to tell you, but I was afraid of how you’d react. And even if you don’t like me the way I like you, I hope that we can at least just stay friends.”
You can’t think of anything to say even though you know he’s waiting for you to say something. Your brain is full of over a million thoughts, that you fear that if you do say something it’s gonna come out mumbled and confusing.
You did like him, you really did. But after a while it felt like you were just convincing yourself that you did. And this should’ve been enough to make it clear who your heart really belonged to but you’re still clinging on to the little bit of feelings that you have left for Sungchan. So you tell him “I like you too, but I think we should just stay friends for now. That’s worked out really good for us so far.”
To which he laughs and pulls you into a hug. “It definitely has.” This makes you feel somewhat better. It hushes half the thoughts that you had before. Plus the hug is warm and comforting and exactly what you didn’t know that you needed.
“Are you crying?” He asks looking down at you
“No.” You lie muffled into his chest.
Now that things with Sungchan were going much better you were still trying to work out things with Eunseok.  And “work things out” just meant that you ranted to your best friend every day after class about how much you miss your rock.
“The frog and I are okay, but the rock won’t talk to me, he’s ignoring all my messages and he won’t even look at me in class.”
“Maybe because he’s a rock.” Sohee blatantly speaks but you ignore him and keep talking as if he isn’t even there.
“I just miss him so much, I miss playing in his hair and listening to him play his guitar while I’m trying to study.”
“Okay so correct me if I’m wrong but I’m starting to think that your rock is a code name.” Sohee interrupts again.
“Oh baby you’re thinking too much, you just need to relax. Here let me…” Your best friend places her hand on his shoulder to pull him back and stop him from saying anything else but it still doesn't work because he just lays his hand over hers and continues to make his point.
“No wait, I have never seen a rock that plays the guitar and the rock sounds alot like…. Oh my god.” He yells the last part upon coming across his realization.
“Is the Rock Eunseok?” He asks, jumping up off the couch. You’re too stunned to speak or even think. Your body is too stiff to move, you don’t even know how to get yourself out of this situation. “I’m right aren’t I?”
“Yes, Eunseok is the rock.” You say shamefully
“And the frog must be that Sungchan guy.” He adds
“You know Sungchan?’ You look back at him confused.
“Yeah, the basketball player that you cheated on Eunseok with.”
“Now wait, I didn’t cheat.” You hold your hands out as you're ready to defend yourself.
“You might as well have, Eunseoks liked you for so long that I thought the both of you were already married.”
“But we’ve only known each other for like 3 months.” You speak, confused.
“No, he’s liked you for like ever. He used to bother us all the time about you during rehearsals.  He talked about you so much that Seunghan threatened to ask you out just so he would make a move.”
“What?” Now you're at a complete loss of words.
“Bro yeah, we were all shocked that he finally talked to you when we saw you at the show. You should’ve been there, well you were but you know what I mean.”
Wonbin noticed you first, because you were the only person in the crowd who had a frown so prominent that he was worried your face was gonna be stuck like that. That’s when he taps Sohee’s arm so that he could see it too but Sohee was too worried about your best friend to really care about how mad you looked. So when he couldn’t get his attention he just turned to Suenghan and called it to his attention instead.
“Wait, I think that’s Y/n.” Suenghan says
“Are you sure? She’s usually happier.” But when wonbin turns around Suenghans already gone to find Eunseok.
“Y/n’s here.” Seunghan says pointing to you while looking at Eunseok. To which Eunseok just shrugged off without even looking in your direction because they’ve been playing with him like that all night. So he just assumed it was another one of their mean jokes. However when Seunghan just laughs and leaves he looks up just to check out of pure curiosity and it was actually you.
He’d already told his band members that the next time he saw you he was just gonna talk to you. And he had intentions on going through with his promise even though you looked extremely unentertained.
Sohee finished explaining the story about the night you and Eunseok met.
“And then he started talking about you even more once you guys finally did start seeing each other.”
“This entire time?” You ask again. “And more.” Sohee adds which makes your best friend chuckle. “Girl, go get your man.”
“He won’t even talk to me.”
“He’s not the one that needs to do the talking.” For the first time in a really long time, your best friend was actually right. So you did as she told you to and reached for your phone.
“I said go get your man not go text him.”
“What if he closes the door in my face?” You ask in a whine.
“Then it would have been very deserved.” She replies.
“But-” You begin to make an excuse but get cut off immediately.
“Go!” They both shout at the same time.
You’re now in the parking lot of his apartment, still hesitant on whether or not you’re ready to face him yet. You know that if you leave the car you’ll be forced to deal with reality so you decide to just stay there for a few more minutes and at least plan out what you wanna say. However all that’s going through your mind is static and everything that Sohee told you.
You’re so confused you begin to talk to yourself. “This whole time?” you say aloud.
No matter how many times you try to talk yourself into leaving your car you just can’t. You even make it as far as to open your car door.
“So how’d it go?” your best friend asks the second you walk back into the door.
“It didn’t.”
“What do you mean it didn’t?” She pipes up.
“I got too scared to even knock on his door.” You speak.
She gets up from the couch and walks to the front door and closes it behind her leaving both you and Sohee completely confused. Then you hear a knock at the door so you answer it because you know exactly who it is. “That’s all you had to do.” She says when you open the door.
That’s when you close the door in her face, and lock it right after. Although you knew she was right. If you wanted to work things out with Eunseok you definitely couldn’t allow your ego to get in the way.
Tumblr media
Sitting in your bed, reading over the unsent message over and over again until you finally have the guts to push send. However the more you read it the more you decide against even bothering him.
You let out a long, deep sigh, click your phone off and lay it on the bed beside you while thinking about something to help distract you. However everything you thought of led back to Eunseok. Even when you throw your head back on your pillow and close your eyes all you can think about is him.
“What do I do?” you speak aloud to yourself.
“Oh you need a break. Bad.” Your best friend trespasses into your room.
“What do you have in mind?” you say simply turning your head over in her direction
“I’m thinking we're going to see this new band.” She sits beside you on the bed, while proposing her new idea.
“I don’t think I’m ready to see Eunseok in person yet.”
“He’s not even gonna be there, I’ll have Sohee make sure of it.”
“This better not be one of your little tricks.”
“What? One of my little tricks?” she teases looking off to the side
“I’m not going.” You state firmly.
“No, he’s not gonna be there. I swear.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“Suit yourself.” When she doesn’t beg like you expected her to, you start to get concerned. “You don’t want me to take you?”
She shakes her head. “No Sohee’s on his way.” She continues. “I just wanted to help you take your head off of things.”
“This is the first time you’ve ever actually done something good for me.” You speak gratefully.
“Mm mm girl this is for me, you sitting around here sad really messes up the mood. And the smell, girl, take a shower.” She covers her nose.
“Wow, thanks.” You sit back against your headboard to begin contemplating again why you were even friends with her.
“I’m kidding y/n, you know I love you. And I really hate seeing you like this, It breaks my heart.”
“I’m sorry I’m trying to shake this feeling.”
“Just come out with us tonight, please. If you’re not feeling it you can leave no questions asked.” She moves closer to you and cuffs your hands into hers. The look she gives you makes it hard to say no. Not that you’d say no anyways, you really could use a distraction.
“Fine.”
“You’ll come?”
“Yes, I’ll come. But I'm driving myself. I don’t need to see you and sohee making out the whole ride.”
Just as promised you showed up to the event and yet again your best friend was nowhere to be found. You didn’t even bother to look for her, you just stood with your arms crossed staring at the crowd in front of you and thinking about how long it had been since you were in a place like this.
The music still needed some getting used to but you weren’t as uptight about it as you once were. You also notice that there is something different, you can't quite pin your finger on it but you definitely notice it. Maybe it’s just the vibe that’s off, you usually came to these things for Eusneok so now that he wasn’t here it felt kinda weird.
Or it could have been that they painted the walls a different color. But it’s most likely the fact that the boy that you’re looking for can’t be found. Even though you told yourself and your best friend that you don’t wanna see him yet, you can’t help but look around occasionally to see if you find a familiar face.
But you never do, no matter how many times you look or in what direction. He’s not there.
“Looking for someone?” a voice says behind you and your heart drops immediately, You turn around with wide eyes but quickly release your breath when you see that it’s not the person you thought it was.
“Just my best friend.” You answer him although you're not really in the mood to speak to speak to anyone at the moment.
“Did I scare you? I didn’t mean to.” The unnamed man continues
“Oh no you’re fine.”
You are still talking to the man but someone behind him catches your eye and distracts you from the conversation. You watch them for a little and the longer you watch the more you’re sure that it’s definitely the guitar player that you’ve been looking for all night.
Not another second goes by before you’re cutting the man off to push past the crowd and make your way to Eunseok. He doesn’t say anything when he sees you so you decide to speak first.
“Can we talk?”
“There’s nothing to talk about.” He says bluntly.
“I have a lot to say.” You state but you don’t get the chance to get anything else out because he walks away from you and you’re forced to run after him just so you can at least explain yourself.
“Eunseok.” You shout, and that’s when he finally stops
“I like you Y/n, and I can’t talk to you when I know about you and him. I don’t wanna be just friends.”
“And I like you too, when I’m with him I’m thinking about you. I’m always thinking about you. I just can never stop thinking about you.”
“Were you thinking about me when you kissed him?” He asks
“I was.” You answer honestly
“and you still did it.”
“It was wrong to try and go between the both of you, I know. but I honestly thought you did this with everyone. how was i supposed to know how you felt?” you say in a raspy voice trying to stop yourself from crying.
“how did you feel?” He questions
“I felt confused. I never expected to like you as much as I do, and I never thought you’d like me back in the same way.”
you stop and watch him before you say something else
“Please forgive me, eunseok I’m sorry I really am. I don’t know how many times I can say that.”
you continue to watch him even as he walks closer to you and wraps his arms around you for you to rest your head on his chest. “I missed you.” cutting you off from apologizing anymore.
“I missed you too.”
“And also do you really like cookies and cream Ice cream?” he asks suddenly
“No, I hate it.” you laugh still burying your head into his chest.

if y/n didn’t dig herself a deeper hole yesterday, she certainly had breached earth’s core at this point. with her head tilted down and austin chuckling under his breath, y/n desperately tried not to make eye contact with roman who was sat at the table conveniently right behind austin and directly in her eyesight. the tension was so thick that y/n swore she was feeling lightheaded from lack of oxygen.
“can they hurry up with the food?” she whispered, feeling scared that they were trying to listen in on her and austin’s conversation.
“how about i lean over, give you a nice kiss, and really give them something to talk about?” austin teased her, biting back a laugh when she flipped him off.
it was austin and y/n day, much like how they used to have in high school whenever they didn’t want to deal with their parents being all lovey dovey in front of them. although cody and ted wished they could have accompanied them when they invited them to join in, cody had a midterm that day and ted made plans with another friend group in between his classes. that left y/n taking austin everywhere around town, showing him all her favorite places and stopping by a few stores downtown to window shop. eventually, they grew hungry and decided to grab lunch at a quaint little hawaiian barbeque restaurant. y/n just hadn’t accounted for the fact that there was a chance that she’d end up seeing roman while she was out with austin.
“do that and i’ll actually kill you.” she grunted, locking eyes with austin and catching his playful gaze.
“i’m sure cody would get to me first.” he mused. just then, another number was called out by the workers and the two of them checked their receipt. “i’ll get it.” austin offered once he realized it was their food, quickly snatching the receipt off the table and getting up before y/n could even process that it was their number that was called out.
this also meant that the barrier between her and roman was gone, and y/n wished she had grabbed the receipt first before she checked if it was their food. she was instantly met with the sight of roman, jimmy, and jey all staring at her as if she’d grown a second head. and suddenly, jimmy was nudging roman and roman was standing up. but before roman could even take a step towards y/n, austin was quickly returning with their food.
austin sat himself back down in his chair, clearly having seen the way roman was just about to invite himself to the table and take austin’s spot. he took their food out of the bag, opening each container to check their contents before setting y/n’s food in front of her. “and your spam musubi, m’lady.” he continued, setting another smaller container in front of her along with her can of passion fruit hawaiian sun. he hummed happily as he handed her the utensils and set the bag aside so that he could open up his box. austin waited until y/n took her first bite before he did. a smile that he was unable to hide crept up on his face as he finally got food into his system, and the same smile reflected on y/n’s own features.
but the failed attempts at hushed whispers behind him were beginning to irritate him. although he had found it humorous at first, austin wasn’t a stranger to times when y/n was visibly uncomfortable. suddenly, austin set his utensils down and turned around in his seat to face the men. “can you just cool it for one day? she’ll talk to you later. but right now, i’m just trying to enjoy a nice lunch with my step-sister.” he asked them, catching a glimpse at their embarrassed expressions before turning back around and being met by y/n’s shocked one. “eat, baby. they’ll stop talking about us and assuming shit if they know what’s good for them.” he addressed her as he pulled up the sleeves of his shirt as a “subtle” warning to the men.
it seemed to work, because when jey stood up to get their own food and returned with them, the other men seemed to slip back into their own conversation that wasn’t focused on who y/n was with. y/n visibly relaxed, her tense shoulders easing out against her frame as she happily began to eat. “thanks.” she muttered in between bites, and this time, austin was biting back a laugh at how she was practically inhaling her food.
he forgot she had a tendency to stress eat.
“no worries. some people just need to learn to mind their own business, you know?” austin replied, this time purposely keeping his voice low so that they couldn’t hear him. he knew that if they had heard what he said, they most certainly woulnd’t be getting out of the restaurant without a confrontration.
“i don’t even know what i’m going to say to him before our lab tomorrow. like, oh hey! yeah, it’s not you, it’s me.” she huffed out as austin handed her a napkin, quickly thanking him before wiping her mouth with the napkin.
“see, that phrase only works if it’s not you, though. i don’t make the roles, i simply enforce them.” austin said, watching as she struggled to open up can before finally reaching over and opening it for her. “god, are you this worked up over it? you’re stuffing your face like crazy and you can’t even open up a can.”
“yes!” she said, rather loudly because it earned them the stares from the other patrons in the restaurant and not just roman, jimmy, and jey. she looked around with an embarrassed expression and waited until everyone went back to their own meals. “sorry. as i was saying, it’s not exactly a comfortable and easy conversation to have.” she muttered, taking a long sip from her drink the same time that austin drank his water.
they had fallen back into their own rhythm easily. y/n was talking to austin as if the centerpiece of her worries wasn’t sitting just directly behind him. in that moment, it was just y/n and austin in the world, and although they may not be out in a random field staring up at the stars and talking about their worries in life, somehow the hawaiian barbeque restaurant seemed to transport them to that place.
austin shrugged his shoulders, setting down his cup before picking up his utensils again. “rip off the bandaid. always easiest that way. besides, it’s not like you’re hesitating about who you’re choosing. it’s pretty obvious who you’re going to pursue.” he told her, his tone bordering an ‘i told you so’ manner that had y/n wanting to reach over and smack austin.
“well, yeah but i don’t feel good about leading him on. it’s not like i meant to do it, you know? i’m just stupid.” she muttered, wiping down her hands before reaching for her spam musubi. “want a bite?” she asked, holding the food out for austin.
he leaned over, taking a bite before sitting back in his chair. he chewed his food, and watched as y/n seemed to delve deep in her own thoughts. he spoke after swallowing his food, “we’re not having this same conversation, y/n.” he went back to eating his own food, muttering lowly, “impact matters more than intention. but you can’t change anything about that either. you just have to learn from it, baby. and i know you. you’ll bounce back from this, you’ve come back from worse, and this time, you have cody.”
she smiled apologetically at austin, reminding herself that maybe she was getting a bit repetitive with her own thoughts. she was just thankful that austin didn’t seem to mind still reassuring her in the end, no matter how many times he had to hear it. the two continued to eat their food, moving on from their previous conversation and simply taking the time to catch up now that they were both sober. eventually, their food was done but neither of them moved from their seats, leaning against their crossed forearms on the table to lean towards each other and continue their conversation.
she was so enamored with her conversation with austin that she hadn’t even realized roman, jimmy, and jey had all left soon after they finished eating. jimmy and jey had tried to wave their goodbyes to her, but roman had simply tugged them away before y/n could even look in their direction.
her phone buzzing was what cut their conversation short, and one glance at her phone let her know that ted was calling her. she showed the contact to austin, who nodded his head as if letting her know to answer it, before sitting back in his seat and fishing out his own phone so he could scroll through social media while she took the call.
“hello?” she answered, pressing the phone against her ear.
“you and austin done eating?” ted asked. there was an odd tone to his voice, one that y/n hadn’t ever heard before. he sounded as though he was trying to stay calm and collected, but y/n could just tell that he was bottling up something like anger.
“yeah, we’re probably going to head back to the dorms after this and nap. i’m about 5 minutes away from a food coma. why, what’s up?” she asked, already beginning to put her trash into the plastic bag. austin followed her, his eyebrow cocked up in question at her words.
“stay away from roman.” ted warned her.
she was taken aback by ted’s sudden words. she expected this type of behavior from cody, but ted? there wasn’t a reason for ted to be telling her to stay away from roman - after all, ted wasn’t the one that was involved in their drama like that. it was as if ted could feel her confusion through the phone, and answered her next question before she could even ask him.
“cody asked randy if he said anything to him while blackout drunk. it’s pretty bad and you need to be told everything in person.” ted sighed, still trying to stay calm and collected over the phone.
“i’ll fucking kill him!” cody’s voice suddenly rang in the background, and from what y/n could only assume by the ruffling sounds over the phone, cody had pulled the phone from ted. “sweetheart, you won't believe the shit i just fucking learned. i'm going to shove my foot so far up roman's ass for thinking he can just pull this shit on you.”
her mouth hung open in shock, and before y/n could even let her confusion be known, ted was already back on the phone. “don’t worry about that for now. knock once you’re here and we’ll tell you everything. it’s cool if you bring austin along. love you.”
before she could even say bye, the call was already over and y/n was left with staring up into austin’s concerned gaze. she was so captivated by the strange phone call that she wasn’t even aware that austin had thrown out their trash for her and was standing up beside her.
“everything alright?” he asked her, holding his hand out for her to take and guiding her out of her seat once she did so.
“the boys have something to tell me. they said you could come along.” she answered.
austin simply nodded his head, making sure they didn’t leave anything on the table or their seats before he was already leading y/n out of the restaurant. “let’s go, baby. sounded pretty bad from all the yelling i heard over the phone. best we get there as soon as possible.”

can you pwease write some ted angst to fluff hcs? maybe sth abt reader rotting in bed away and ted a bit sad for not realizing sooner and quickly making it up by coming in to give some comfort 🫶🫶🫶
omg i love this, im a sucker for angst to fluff. thanks for the request!
your wish is my command! 🫡
rotting away in your bed is not how you like spending your days. but, when something bad happens, you have a tendency to shut down a little bit. on top of this, you’re normally a productive person, so being unproductive makes you feel 10x worse.
ted goes into your apartment, goes to your room to find it a mess - clothes everywhere, makeup scattered on your vanity, blinds shut - and you piled underneath a lump of blankets.
ted would definitely overflow with guilt at not noticing sooner. how could he not have noticed his love was having a hard time?
ted would climb into bed with you - which initially would scare the shit out of you until you realized it was him - and wrap you up in his arms, rubbing your hair, whispering to apologies and sweet nothings to you.
“i’m so sorry my love, i’m so sorry i didn’t notice sooner.”
you guys would eventually fall asleep, and about an hour later, ted would wake up before you and begin to clean up your room.
he picks up your clothes for you, puts your makeup in all the right places, and turns a lamp on.
you wake up to find your room clean and your ted standing there with a broom.
oh, and he’s absolutely smiling, not a sign of complaint on his face. “you gotta start somewhere!”
he would order you food for dinner, (your favorite place ofc), and after you eat, you guys would watch your favorite movie on the couch, all snuggled up.
this includes: head scratching, playing with your hair, counting the freckles on your shoulders, looking at all the parts of you that he loves. (every part)
lotssss of back rubs as you lay your head in his lap.
and whenever he stops, you grab his wrist and put his hand right back on your back.
“more?? yes ma’am, whatever my babe wants.”
eventually you fall asleep, and he realizes this because you stop moving his hand back.
ted would ramble as you sleep, going on and on about how much he adores you.
“you’re my favorite girl, always and forever.”
“remember, i’ll always be in love with you so if i begin to think otherwise, snap me back into reality.”
“i love you my love, the love of my life.”
“p.s. i love you”

ted lasso s3e11 oh dear god
i’m not mentally stable enough to fully process so initial thoughts!!
I truly believe Phil Dunster filmed to boot room scene with the sole intention of making Brett Goldstein break character
THE PARALLELS from the very beginning of Ted being happy go lucky and loved while Rebecca is angst!! to now Ted’s mom being happy and loved while Ted is angst is truly amazing
plz rebecca getting in the team bus bc nora yelled at her about her private jet usage i love
SAM AND REBECCA TURNING TO EACH OTHER DURING THE END OF YOUVE GOT MAIL OMG
Beard’s nickname for Teds mom!!
Rebecca excited to know Teds mom!!
Mae dropping free therapy everywhere she goes?? love that for her!!
the boys showing up at Taste of Athens was so …? bc last time they were like fuck nate!! at the west ham game but now their like happy and healthy like the lovable himbos they are
this was not an episode about mother/son relationships and truly processing trauma, this was an episode about kebabs
the way Jade likes the things about Nate she doesn’t understand!!! (thinking 60 pgs is crazy but still picking up the pen to edit!!)
Roy and Keelee trying to steal follow Jamie is the funniest thing, especially when she’s farting between cars and Roy’s just on the sidewalk
he! went! to! see! his! mom!!!
i am very happy that Jamie has one canonically fantastic parent and fun baking stepdad!
also the crowd cheering him as he leaves truly made me tear up
the duality of the Roy Keelee posters in Jamie’s room
Ted and his mom having a real talk truly showing how much Ted has grown, especially with how he started off kinda anti-therapy to who he is now
question: what actually is meatloaf? I have no idea????
i know the whole thing is gonna end with Ted going back to Kansas and that’s why we have the whole, admittedly important for Ted, Henry part but I still want him to stay so badly and it feels right for the character to stay and bring Henry to Richmond
lmao the nose mask bc of Dani
Van Damme slayed so hard omg absolute king i love you baby keep saving those goals!
THE COACH BEARD LORE OMG
truly explains his dedication to Ted and why he was so angry with Nate, who hurt his friends and betrayed Teds trust the same way he did with the car
i know he’s but but for a second there i thought Jamie’s father was dead!?!
and i love Higgins and his refusal to move!! he’s so sweet!!

Oh.
I have recently consulted a few doctors (in other words, people who actually have a grasp on human anatomy, unlike myself), and apparently...
Tumblr media
This... wouldn’t have been cauterized. With the amount of major organs hit, in the three-to-five seconds the sword was in Marcy’s chest, there wouldn’t have been nearly enough time for the (extremely vascular) lungs and heart to have their blood flow halted completely by the heat of the sword.
Tumblr media
(Please excuse the low quality image, I’m sure you get the idea.)
Sure, some minor blood vessels probably didn’t bleed, but everything major was hit, and that means the red stuff should’ve been spilling everywhere. Yes, Marcy also should’ve been killed instantly, but with a lil bit of  m a g i c  and some good old fashioned inaccurate portrayals of injuries in cartoons, we were gifted with her last words of angst. But of course, it’s not the Disney brand to show thirteen year-olds bleeding to death onscreen. So censorship it was!
In other words, I give you full scientific permission to draw all the angsty Marcy death fanart you like, blood and all. I know how much you all like your blood anyways, so now (to those of you who didn’t already know), you have scientific justification.
That’s it that’s the post, thank you for coming to my TED Talk

It’s funny how true the saying “you never miss something until it’s gone” is. If Charlie had to describe how the last two weeks have been, it’d be like that. He didn’t think it was humanly possible to miss someone so much, to actually have every second of every day be taken up by the thought of you. He’d been trying to work but with a blatant lack of you, he hadn’t been able to focus and decided to take a walk to clear his head.
It wasn’t helping.
A man walks past with a big, floofy, white dog on a leash. You would stop to ask to pet it. You always loved dogs and Charlie has no doubt in his mind that if your apartment building allowed pets, there’d be at least one living with you and him.
There’s a bookstore on the corner of a street. You would poke your head in, look around for a while and buy some novel by an author you’d never heard of. It’d probably lay unopened for a couple months until you suddenly remembered it one day and binged it in under three days.
A street musician plays across the street in a park, improving on his saxophone over a jazzy backing track. You would insist on staying to listen, waiting until he finished this song, applauding, and giving him ten dollars or so. Charlie stuffs his hands a little deeper in his pockets and keeps walking.
What was supposed to be a head-clearing (and distracting) walk has turned into the exact opposite. Charlie knows he won’t be getting any more work done today.
It starts to rain as he walks but he doesn’t head back, instead walking farther and into a different park. As it rains harder, he finds a bench to sit on. The cold and wet he finds himself submerged in distracts him better than anything else has been able to.
Water drips inside his collar and soon he finds himself soaked through. Still, he just sits there, staring straight ahead of him and focusing on the uncomfortable feeling of being fully clothed and completely wet.
He doesn’t know how long he sat there. Minutes. An hour. Two hours. But suddenly the rain stops. He’s no longer being showered with water droplets, even as the rain continues pouring all around him.
“Charlie? You okay, man?”
Charlie looks up and funnily enough, there’s Ted. He’s holding an umbrella over Charlie, looking down at him in concern. He realizes how bad this must look, sat in the rain looking dead inside.
“What’re you doing?” Ted asks slowly.
“Just... chilling.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
“You good?”
“I’m doing great.” He gestures generally, tries to crack a joke. “Can’t you tell?”
Ted doesn’t smile. “Dude, seriously. Are you okay?”
Charlie swallows, smile fading. He wants so badly to say “yeah, I am” and be able to mean it. He’s the one who messed everything up; he doesn’t have a right to be feeling this bad with you gone when he was the one who chased you away. And yet here he is, sitting in the rain.
“No.”
“...let’s go back to your place.”
Ted walks Charlie back home, sharing his umbrella despite the fact that Charlie is already totally soaked. Ted doesn’t seem to mind too much when Charlie drips on him; he’s likely more worried about Charlie than his left side getting a little wet.
They get back to Charlie’s apartment and Charlie changes quickly into dry clothes before joining Ted in the living room. It’s painstakingly obvious when Ted unknowingly sits in your spot.
After several minutes of awkward silence and even more awkward attempts at small talk, Ted finally asks the question he’s been meaning to for two weeks.
“How’s um... How’s Y/N?” Ted tries tentatively.
“She’s okay. Sort of. I think.”
“You think?”
“She’s kind of been avoiding me. She’s been staying at Schlatt’s for the past eleven days.”
“She has?”
“I think she needed some space, but it’s been over a week now and I’m kind of deteriorating away in the silence of our apartment alone.”
“Have you tried talking to her about... it?”
“You mean her feelings for me that she’s had for years and I’ve never noticed and then accidentally outed in front of all our friends and neither of us are sure our relationship will recover because we don’t know how to act now that we’re both aware one of us wants more than platonic friendship?”
“...yes.”
“No, I haven’t.”
“It sounds really bad when you phrase it like you just did but there’s no way around this,” Ted says. “I know how much you two care about each other. You two would be miserable without each other.”
“We- We’d be... fine.”
“That was the most unconvincing thing I have ever heard in my entire life.”
“I-“
“Not to mention the fact that you are literally living proof that you are not fine without Y/N.”
“Doctor Ted PhD is making a reappearance,” Charlie weakly tries to joke.
“Charlie.”
Ted did just find Charlie having a rather severe episode of “main character syndrome,” so there’s really no arguing with him. He is not doing fine without you. It’s only going to get worse the longer he goes without trying to reassemble the shattered pieces of your friendship.
Charlie’s will finally gives way. “I don’t know what to do, man. I fucked up so bad and now I’m terrified I’m never going to be able to get back to where we were. Everywhere I go all I can think about is her and she just- I have never been happier than I am when I’m with her and I just-... I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to lose her.”
Charlie buries his head in his hands, heels of his palms digging into his eyes. He’s finally letting himself be distressed over the very real possibility of losing his best friend instead of ignoring the situation entirely.
Meanwhile, Ted is connecting some very obvious dots.
“She’s all you can think about?”
“Yeah, like, I’ll just be going to the store or something and it’s like ‘oh, she’d smell those flowers,’ ‘she’d drag me to try that restaurant,’ ‘she’d go to see that movie with me.’”
“And you’re happiest with her.”
“Yeah, man. I’ve had other friends, other best friends even, but no one compares to her and how she just gets me. You’ve seen it; we have this synergy that I have never gotten with anyone else.”
“And you are very worried about the possibility of losing her.”
“...yes. Are you just repeating what I’ve said?”
“Just waiting for you to figure it out.”
“Figure what out?”
Ted doesn’t respond, holding the silence patiently. Charlie continues to look at him, confused. The apartment is quiet, not quite in the unbearable way it is when he’s alone but it still doesn’t feel right without you here.
For eleven days, you haven’t sung in the shower. You haven’t made breakfast just how he likes it. You haven’t distracted him from work to show him a TikTok, not that he ever minded. You haven’t fallen asleep on movie night and he’d willingly carry you to bed if you asked him sleepily, kind of wishing you’d ask him to stay with you one night.
You would grab his hand and ask him to stay. He’d do so without hesitation. Curled together under the covers, you would be close and warm and intimate in a new but welcome way. He’d hold you tight, your breath soft against his neck.
Wait.
Charlie looks up in horror. “No.”
Ted narrowly stops the shit-eating grin from spreading across his face. “Yes.”
“No. No no no, shit.”
“I am so happy I get to be here for this.”
“Shut the fuck up, Ted,” Charlie cuts him off.
He’s angry. Not at Ted but at himself. He rushes over to the door, shoving his feet back into his still-wet shoes.
“I’ve fucked up so bad. Oh my god, this is all my fault.”
“Yeah, it is.”
“God, shut up, you are not helping.”
“Sorry, just telling it like it is.”
Charlie glares at Ted. “Show yourself out.”
Charlie takes off out of the apartment without an umbrella again, completely prepared to get another set of clothes completely soaked. He prays to whatever higher power may be listening that you have the ungodly amount of forgiveness that will be needed to forgive his stupidity.

The List!
Part one
Pairings: Max Phillips x reader
Warnings: Smut 18+, p in v smut, cursing, slight sub/dom, maybe some angst, fluff if you squint.
Summary: your the new co-sales manager, sent in to better manage the human work force. This is something Max doesn’t like, not one bit. He wants you out, but what happens when you offer him a proposition he can’t refuse!
A/N: I know (another one) I actually can’t help myself 😌 this is sort of an enemies to lovers type story.
*Comments and reblogs really appreciated*
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
“We are delighted to have you on the team Y/N, you will be a breath of fresh air, and honestly we need someone to rain Max in a bit.”
“I’m delighted to be here, I can’t wait to get stuck in.”
“I have to warn you, Max is not going to take to this well, he see himself as the boss and that’s it.”
“Ted, you don’t have to worry about me, I can handle Max.”
“If your sure? Ok I’m going to call a meeting in 5 and introduce you to everyone.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
****
Standing outside Teds office door you can hear him tell the team that corporate have decided to have a human co-sales manager.
“Wait wait wait, circle back there, what was that, I could have sworn you just said a co-sales manager.” Max laughs and pats Ted on the back.
“Now I know that ain’t right, why do we need another manager. I’m doing great.”
“Oh you are, just they feel your better suited to just manage the vampire work force. Anyway without further ado let me introduce the new co-sales manager Y/N.”
You walk into the office to a small round of applause. You can hear someone say “dammmnn, she’s hot.” You smile at that before you set your sights on Max. He has an obnoxious grin on his face. He rakes his eyes over your form before pulling you into a hug.
“Don’t get to comfortable, sugar tits, you won’t be here long enough.”
You turn to the rest of the employees “look I’m not here to step on anyone’s toes, I’m just here to do my job, which is make sales. For those of you still human, you will be dealing with me now. This is going to be my office, and my door is open for whatever you need.”
You chance a look at Max and he is fuming.
***
The day is uneventful as you pull all the human employees in one by one, running them through your expectations. You’d come to realise that your going to have your work cut out as some of them appear to be quite unmotivated. As your days draws to a close, your pulled from your notes by your office door being slammed shut forcefully. Looking up your greeted with the sight of Max standing over your desk staring at you, much like a predator would his prey.
“Something I can help you with? Or are you just going to continue to stare at me.”
“Listen up sugar tits, this is my office, you got it. I’ve worked too damn hard to get this place in shape and I’m not about to have some prime piece of pussy walk in here and ruin it all.”
“Flattery will get you everywhere Max.” You push back your chair and stand. You slowly make your way over to him, making sure to sway your hips as you do. You run your hand down his red tie before pulling on it, bringing him closer. You move your face closer to his, slowly, licking your bottom lip. To him it looks like your about to kiss him, until you move your head slightly and press your lips to his ear.
“How did you know I love dirty talk?” Pulling away you suck on his ear lobe, smiling when you hear him moan.
He moves his hand under you chin so your looking directly at him.
“Has anyone ever told you, you have the most beautiful eyes?”
“Thank you.” You say in a slow drawn out tone.
“Your going to go to Ted and tell him you can’t do the job, it’s too much.”
“Yeah, I’ll go now then.”
“And after, you can circle back and give me a goodbye blowjob.”
“Of course.”
You turn and walk towards your office door, knowing he’s watching you. You reach for the handle, but instead turn the lock. Max is confused as you turn around to face him.
You give him a sadistic smile, before stalking towards him.
“You honestly thought you could glamour me? Ha…your a bigger idiot than I thought. You didn’t expect me to start working here without doing my research did you?”
“That’s not possible!”
“What? That it didn’t work, please there is a lot you clearly don’t know.” You move your hand to your eye and remove a contact lens.
“These, block whatever magic or whatever it is you got going on. Also if you think I haven’t informed my employees of this fact then you really are an idiot. Now is that all? I’m quite busy.”
You go to sit back down when your suddenly pinned to the desk. Ass up and pressed against something hard. Your laughing now.
“Max, if you wanted to fuck all you had to do was ask.”
He pulls you towards him, burying his head in your neck. He breaths you in and a shiver runs through him going straight to his already throbbing cock. You can feel him hard at your ass, so you grind your ass back into him and he lets out a low growl.
“Don’t start something unless you mean to finish it.”
“Who says I’m not?”
Ripping your skirt he quickly opens the button on his trousers, freeing his cock. Moving your panties to the side he thrusts into you hard, knocking the air out of your lungs. He pins you to the desk, hand pushing your head down, as he pounds into you again and again.
“This what you wanted huh, for me to give you a good fuck? I think I like you like this..uh….me fucking you…..showing you..uh…who’s the real boss.”
“Yes….fuck yes.”
“That’s it…..take all of me….like a good…little…..girl.”
That heat is stirring in you and as he moves his hand to your clit rubbing it in circles, your vision becomes slight hazy, it’s like a wildfire is burning within you. It shoots through you and then he hits just the right spot and you explode in his arms.
“Fuck…..Max!”
His pace become erratic as his nears his own release, pounding into you again hard, before he spills inside you. He rests his weight on top of you before pulling out and tucking himself back in. Fixing his tie he moves towards the door.
“I guess I’ll see you tomorrow then.” With the slam of your door he’s gone. You grab some tissue to clean yourself with before putting on your workout leggings. Heading for your door, sly smirk on your face, you take one look around your office before turning out the light.
“You bet you will.”

Hi! Could I please add another request to my list? :D it's based off a Hey Arnold episode in which Bill and the reader are on a week long school vacation and they run into each other at the beach and Bill develops a crush on a pretty girl who befriends him but the reader finds out the girl's only using Bill to win a sandcastle contest in order to be on the show Baywatch. The reader tries to tell Bill but he won't listen and he eventually overhears the girl talking with her boyfriend and tells her off only to win the contest with the reader and they confess their feelings? 💕💕

Summer Lovin’
Words: 2554
Warnings: cursing, female pronouns (but no genitalia mentioned and no skin color specified) a bit of angst (fluffy ending though)
Author’s Note: first of all, I fucking love Hey, Arnold! and definitely love Helga G. Pataki with all my heart. She’s a weirdo and I love it. I knew exactly what episode you were talking about. I can't believe you got me to write 13 pages of fanfic for such a specific and niche fandom, but hey, I don’t do this for the fame. I do this for the little bit of serotonin my brain gets when I imagine myself in scenarios with fictional characters because real men are disappointing. (Mod Olivia)
-
You hated Bill. You hated the stupid way his stupid blonde ringlets caught the California sun, the stupid vacant look in his stupid sapphire eyes at almost all times, the stupid fucking sliver of tan skin he exposed with his crop tops that he somehow got away with at school. Not to mention you loathed the stupid fucking grin that he gave to his best friend Ted, the one that proceeded the ridiculous laugh the stupid boy had.
All these things you despised, detested, and loathed with every fiber of your being. Simple annoyances beginning since kindergarten snowballed into a big, white burning ball of hatred for the boy. Hatred that made your cheeks heat up and stomach churn, just as it was doing now.
You had been so excited for Spring Break, your family deciding to travel 5 and a half hours to a beach house in Half Moon Bay. A week of the sun, sea, shopping, seashells, boardwalks, and salt-water taffy, with no Bill to bother you.
So, naturally, when you had reached the beach after a long day of travel, the sight of Bill sitting on the sand in nothing but a swimsuit, skin glowing with tanning oil, made your heart stutter. Okay, perhaps you didn’t hate him… despise him, detest him, or loathe him entirely. From an outside perspective… some might even say that you were… in love with him.
Oh God, it was true. You couldn't stop thinking about Bill. He looked like he was sculpted after an angel. A prince charming on a white horse. And what he lacked in academic intelligence he more than made up for with kindness. He always treated you with the utmost respect, while you paid him back in nothing but sarcasm and insults.
You didn’t know exactly why you were so mean to him. Perhaps it was your nerves trying to stop you from getting overeager and admitting your crush. One day you were going to have to either man up and confess your feelings or get over him but that day didn’t seem to be approaching anytime soon.
You were intent on pretending he wasn’t here, setting up your own place to sunbathe until you heard your name fall from his lips.
“Y/n!?” Bill walked up behind you, prompting you to turn around to face him. “What are you doing here?”
“Bill.” You stated dryly, “My family and I are staying nearby.”
“No way! My family’s right over there!” He pointed at a nearby beach house, a young woman who you recognized as recently-graduated and newfound wife, Missy Preston making out with Bill’s father on the porch. Ugh.
“Yes way.” You responded dryly. “We’re over there.” You pointed over your shoulder. “Isn’t this a coincidence, my ideal vacation ruined by the one person I didn’t want to see.” You noticed a flicker of disappointment flash in his eyes, but you couldn't stop yourself even if you tried. “Don’t get any weird ideas about getting all chummy with me, trying to hang out or anything. Just because we’re staying at the same beach and all.” You scoffed, causing him to flinch.
“Uh, yeah. Fine with me, y/n.” He rubbed the back of his head sheepishly before walking off. You eyed him, sighing softly.
“What is the matter with me?” You mumble, setting yourself down on the sand. This would have been the perfect moment to get closer to him if only you didn’t have to open your stupid mouth.
[Bill’s POV]
As Bill walked off, he felt most confused. He could never remember what he did to make you dislike him so much, but tried to get back on your good side. Thankfully, with the sun, sand, and waves surrounding him, Bill couldn’t stay too upset for too long.
He had decided to finally get in the water, heading towards the crashing shore when he had stepped on something.
Huh. Bill was met with the sight of a brightly colored bucket and shovel. Excellent! There was nothing more resplendent than a nice sand castle. Ted was going to be so jealous when he heard. All he was doing for the week was staying at home watching Deacon.
Too caught up in his new activity, Bill barely noticed someone approaching him.
“That’s a stellar sandcastle you have there.” Bill’s eyes practically bugged out of his head. Growing up in California he had seen his fair share of tan beach babes, but this one took the cake. A total babe. Talking to me.... Say something, dude!
“Thanks.” Bogus. Thank God Ted wasn’t here to see him blow his shot so odiously.
She pushed her sunglasses down her nose to look over the lenses, her bright eyes meeting his. “My name’s Summer.”
“Bill S. Preston, Esquire.” He puffed up his chest, raking a hand through his hair.
“Well, Bill S. Preston, Esquire, you seem to be a pretty great artist. That’s the best sandcastle I’ve ever seen.” His dark brows knitted in confusion, looking over her to see if she was teasing him. “I bet you’ll walk away with first prize from the sandcastle competition at the festival thing later this week.”
“Sandcastle competition?”
“Yeah! Whoever wins first place will get a guest appearance on Baywatch! But that’s not until the end of the week. How about, in the meantime, you can show me around the beach? It’s my first time visiting the bay.” Baywatch? That’s only the most triumphant show on television! Ted was going to be so jealous.
“Sounds most excellent! However, It is also my first time visiting the bay. Perhaps… we could explore the area together?”
“I like the way you think, Bill.” She winked, sitting on the sand next to him, the pair getting comfortable.
“What the hell?” You mumbled, looking over your book to watch Bill cozying up with a stranger. Your heart twisted painfully, swallowing thickly, You had no right to be jealous, he wasn’t your boyfriend, not to mention you were cruel to him in every interaction, but that didn’t stop a bitter taste from forming on your tongue.
You stood, collecting your things and trekking back to your beach house, the beach having lost its luster.
-
You were so over this vacation. You would have given anything to stay at home. It seemed everywhere you went, Bill and that girl seemed to be infecting the air with their infatuation.
For the past two days you’ve had to suffer watching the pair on the beach splash each other with sea water, build sand castles, and sunbathe with each other; However, that was nothing compared to today.
You and your family had decided to spend the afternoon on the boardwalk. There you had to endure the couple on the carousel holding hands, feeding each other saltwater taffy, and watching the sunset by the wharf. Most fucking heinous.
It was early evening, and thankfully, Bill and whatever her name was were nowhere to be seen. You didn’t know if you would vomit or cry every time Bill had given her that award-winning smile, the one you so badly wanted to be the recipient of.
You didn’t think it could get any worse, until you had leaned against the pier, ears picking up a familiar voice, Bill’s. Your heart fluttered, only to sink back down when you realized he was still with her under the boardwalk, back on the beach.
“Isn’t this amazing?”
“You are.” You scoffed at Bill’s attempt at flirting, ignoring the tightening of your throat.
“I’m so glad I met you.” She giggled. “I’ve never felt so comfortable with anyone.”
If it had been any other couple, you might have enjoyed such a romantic conversation. This was all your fault, if you hadn’t been such a bitch to Bill on the first day, perhaps it would have been you and him hanging out at the boardwalk.
“Can I see you tomorrow?”
“I’ll be here!”
“Excellent!” You heard him scat in that ridiculous, high-pitched way he did with Ted when they mimicked a guitar. As he walked off, you smiled, not noticing you were crying until a tear slid down your cheek.
You were such an idiot. If only you were able to act normal for a fucking minute and effectively communicate with Bill about your feelings. You had fucked up, it was too late.
“Hey!” You had heard her speak again, wondering if Bill had returned.
“Hey, babe.” That was definitely not Bill.
“It’s all going according to plan. I do believe Bill is falling head over heels for me.”
“Well who wouldn’t?” You rolled your eyes, angrily wiping the tears off your cheeks.
“He thinks I really like him. What a moron.” Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion. What the hell was she talking about?
“If he’s as good as you think he is, we’ll for sure win the contest and end up on Baywatch.” It only took you a second to connect all the dots. This jabroni was clearly her boyfriend, and she was only flirting with Bill to win the stupid castle contest.
You had heard enough, running back to the beach in hopes of finding Bill.
-
Fuck, all these beach houses looked the same. If Bill hadn’t pointed out which house he was staying at you would have no idea how you would find him.
You knocked on the door, praying you remembered the right house, and that Bill would answer instead of his hormonal parents.
“Y/n?” Thankfully Bill did answer the door, hair wet from what you assumed to be a recent shower. “How’s it...hanging?” He stepped out onto the porch, shutting the door behind him.
“Hey. I’m sorry about being a dickweed earlier.” He seemed as equally surprised as you were by your apology. “Um, I guess I was just thrown off at your presence… that’s not really an excuse… anyways, the whole reason I’m here is about that girl you were with earlier.”
“Summer? What about her, dude?” Oh my gosh, of course her name was something as pretentious as Summer.
“Well, I’m not exactly sure how to tell you this, but… She’s using you. I was on the boardwalk, and I had overheard you leaving, and I guess her boyfriend came up to her.. Long story short, she’s going to try and get you to build her a sandcastle to win that festival thing at the end of the week and take the credit so they can win the roles on Baywatch.” You met his eyes, swallowing thickly. “I’m sorry.”
He stayed quiet, your eyebrows furrowing.
“That’s heavy. I mean, I’m not stupid. You’re usually most cruel around me, and now you’re acting all...nice? I do not think I’m falling for this one.”
“You don’t believe me?” You couldn’t believe it. “I know I could be less of a bitch to you, but I’ve never lied to you in all the years I’ve known you. You just met her three days ago!”
“Y/n…” He spoke carefully. “I think you were correct when you said we shouldn’t try to hang out just because we’re staying at the same beach.” Your throat tightened, that sour taste returning to your tongue.
“Fine!” You hissed. “I don’t even know why I wasted my breath and time trying to warn you. God, I wish we had never come to this stupid fucking beach!” You ran off his porch into the sand, face burning with shame.
-
Bill couldn’t stop thinking about your interaction yesterday. He was barely paying attention to anything Summer was saying to him. He wished Ted was here. He always knew what to say.
He walked beside her on the boardwalk, eyes glued to the crashing waves, mind replaying the scene over and over again.
“Bill, are you listening?” Bill blinked, turning to face her, cheeks flushing.
“Sorry.”
“I said I’m going to get more sunblock, you’re looking a little pink.”
“Oh, thanks, babe.” He heard her walk off, zoning out again. You had looked so betrayed when he didn’t believe you, but, it couldn't be you were telling the truth. Why would you do something like that? All you seemed to do was glare at him, brush him off, and scoff at his jokes. It was clear he wasn’t your favorite person.
He snapped himself out of his thoughts once more, looking around to see if Summer had come back yet. His eyes caught her figure walking up the beach and he raised his hand to wave, stopping when he saw her wrap her arms around some unknown guy. He was too far away to hear what they were saying but knew what it meant when she had kissed him. Y/n was right. And I was so non-non-non excellent to her.
-
Sweat was dripping from Bill’s brow, his chest heaving as he panted. He could not remember where your house was, even if it was supposedly close to his own. It was the third time he had run up and down the coastline, trying to remember where you had pointed four days ago.
This was ridiculous, he was never going to find you… until Monday, when you both would be at school. But that was days from now!
“Y/n!” He fell to his knees in the sand, trying to catch his breath.
“Bill?”
“Y/n!” It was a miracle. He noticed the basket in your hands, having collected odd rocks, seashells and glass while walking along the shore. You had been trying to explore away from your house, hoping not to run into the very man who was looking for you.
“How’s it… hanging?” You asked awkwardly, scanning the area for the female that was usually seen by his side. “Where’s Summer?” He scrambled to stand in front of you.
“Y/n, you were most veracious last evening. Summer had been pursuing me with malicious intent. I caught sight of her embracing her boyfriend and I knew you were speaking the truth. I regret the way I treated you. I should have trusted you.”
“I mean… You had reason to doubt me. It’s not all your fault. Besides, it seemed as if she really liked you. I probably wouldn’t have believed me either.” You coughed awkwardly, rubbing the back of your head sheepishly. “Um, to be honest, I really only acted so bogus because I… like you.”
“No way…” He breathed, trying to recall any instance where it seemed you had a crush on him.
“Uh.. yeah. Yes way.” Your cheeks pinked. “But I obviously don’t expect you to return the feeling. I just get really nervous around you so I guess I figured I should treat you like dirt instead of trying to talk to you like a normal person. But I was worried you would think I was too weird, or that I talk too much, or-” You were cut off by a pair of lips. It was so foolish… and so Bill.
“What about Summer?” You asked once he had pulled away.
“What about her?” It was just like Bill to not stay too upset for too long.
His gaze was burning, his lips curling into that perfect, knee-melting, pearly smile. That smile you couldn’t stand. That smile that you couldn’t believe was finally directed at you.

Okay, here is a head canon I'm serious considering turning into a fic:
New Years 2021, Revolution of the Daleks! Daleks everywhere! Huge fight all across London, TARDIS flying high above the city, shouting, screaming, chaos. Very hard to miss, isn't it?
Tumblr media
Well, guess who's also canonically in London in 2020? Yup, that's right, the Eighth Doctor who is stranded there with his companions, living at 107 Baker Street!
So here's a thought: providing they don't manage to get their TARDIS flying again by the end of 2020 - stands to reason they won't cause their story there is still ongoing - you'd think that SOMEONE would have noticed a load of Daleks flying around the place, right?
Tumblr media
I mean, some of these guys know the Daleks very well! They would totally be out there fighting them while Thirteen is up there dealing the finishing blow. Would they encounter each other? Probably not, Eight would realise it would be a stupid idea.
So, while Thirteen moves on, Eight is stuck in London dealing with the aftermath: cue Liv Chenka having her past trauma triggered that she hasn't dealt with since the Dalek occupation she's lived through. Cue Helen Sinclair trying to help her girlfriend through that trauma but not really able to understand because this was her first experience of the Daleks. Cue angst because Eight forgets what's happened - he's crossed his own timeline after all - and Liv and Helen don't. They realise it's cause they're not traveling with the future Doctor anymore and they question what would have happened to them in the meantime.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is so much potential here and I hope Big Finish realise this. And since they probably won't I'm definitely gonna write this at some point! Including Liv having nightmares/flashbacks of her escape from Nixyce VII because that's something I would love to know more about!
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Proud of You | Roman Bürki
An unexpected addition to @footballffbarbiex‘s Big Screen Writing Challenge. (Amy, please don’t kill me for this. I was just looking for someone to write this very sad scene with and @lawsandother suggested Roman and I couldn’t say no. CC’ing @sunslittlesister so you can cry, too, Dana xx)
Taken from the Season 6, Episode 8 of Schitt’s Creek scenes between Ted and Alexis.
Word Count: 2,943 Warnings: angst (I cried writing this)
Tumblr media
It felt so unrealistic to wake up next to him that she almost thought she was dreaming for a moment when she woke up from her mid-afternoon, post-sex nap. Roman had been in and out of her life for the last six years, but lately each visit seemed to bring a sense of dread that neither one of them could place. Timing had never been a strong suit when it came to their relationship, but they’d been trying like hell to make it work.
When he’d been at SC Freiburg, things had been a bit easier. The two-hour commute on the weekends or for special occasions felt like nothing and she always looked forward to those Fridays or Mondays off work so she could have just one more day with him. Then came Dortmund, or ‘the beginning of the end’ as she had started to think of these last five years. The distance added five hours to her drive, and in the beginning, it was worth it. She still got almost two days with him, but each time she left the pit in her stomach grew. For two years, they saw each other twice a month; then once a month for a year. Now, he only came to visit her when he got a call-up to the national team or when he came back to Münsingen for a holiday break, the latter of which seemed to happen more often as he hadn’t gotten a call-up since 2018.
“You’re awake,” Roman mumbled, his eyes still closed but he could feel her presence as if she were a part of his own body.
“I am,” she confirmed, lifting up his tattooed arm so she could tuck herself into his side. She pressed a kiss to his chest, sighing contentedly.
“Did we switch places?” Roman joked, his chest rising and falling as he chuckled. “Usually I’m the one up before you.”
“Just wanted to surprise you, I guess,” she answered, feeling guilty at the lie that so easily fell from her lips. I couldn’t sleep knowing you have to leave me tonight.
She had stayed up for the half-hour that he’d napped, replaying their relationship over and over, all the good and the bad moments on a loop until she couldn’t take it anymore. The worst part about it all was that he had come to surprise her this time, but she was the one who had to be realistic.
She’d been working on a logo for a new up-and-coming local shop set to open soon - the newest in a long line of new clientele that had steadily started hiring her one-woman graphic design company - when she’d heard a rhythmic knock on the door. Thinking nothing of it, she set down her pen and walked over to the door of her studio, shocked but elated to find Roman on the other side.
“Oh, my god, Roman!” She’d squealed, jumping into his arms for a tight embrace. She hadn’t seen him in almost eight months and words couldn’t describe how good it felt to see his face after so long. “What are you doing here?”
“I wanted to surprise you,” he said, smiling shyly.
She hadn’t expected it to feel this awkward. After all, they were still in a relationship...just one that happened to be almost 700 kilometers away and one where they stopped FaceTiming as often as they used to. “Oh my god, uhm, hi!” She said brightly, taking his face in her hands and kissing him deeply.
“Hi,” he mumbled when the kiss ended, reaching into his back and pulling out a Steiff bear wearing a t-shirt. “Sorry, there were limited options at the hotel gift shop.”
“Mehr Bier, bitte!” She read, laughing at the words. “So sweet.” Not quite sure what to say, she pulled him in for another hug. “I missed you so much.”
“I missed you, too,” Roman murmured, burying his face in the crook of her neck and inhaling her scent that he’d missed these last eight months.
“Wait…” she paused, putting the pieces together, “there’s no break for months. What are you doing here?”
Roman looked away, wishing for a brief moment that he hadn’t fallen in love with such a perceptive woman, but he wouldn’t have it any other way. “I picked up a small injury in the match on Friday, so I was told to take a long weekend.”
Her brow furrowed as she did the math. “But today’s Sunday. How come you didn’t get here until,” she paused, checking her watch, “half-past noon today?”
“Well, I was supposed to be here yesterday morning, but I had some unforeseen car troubles.” Roman cringed, remembering the incident. “Got a flat within the first two hours of my drive, so I had to get my car repaired, which took longer than expected. Then, something happened with my engine that required an overnight repair and I didn’t make it out here until now.”
“That’s okay,” she cooed, running her fingers over the beard he’d been growing for ages now. “So, how long do we actually have, then?”
Roman sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Just today.”
“Oh, wow, okay. Enough about your car troubles, then.” She took his hand and dragged him over to her bed, kneeling on it as she wrapped her arms around his broad shoulders.
“I just want to be with you and catch up and talk,” he said, leaning down to capture her lips in his before he laid her down on the bed and covered her body with his.
There had been no other way to describe what he’d done with her except that he’d made love to her. His love for her was in every kiss that he place on her body; every word from his lips and every caress across her skin. When he’d asked if they could cuddle afterwards as he pulled her into his side and subsequently fell asleep, a part of her couldn’t help wondering just what the future held.
“You still with me, Schatz?” Roman asked, nudging her playfully to get her attention.
“Yeah, sorry,” she replied, clearing her throat as he brought her out of her head once again. “Got distracted, is all.” When she looked over at him, the look on her face had her stomach dropping. “Is everything okay?”
Roman took a deep inhale, steadying himself for what he was about to say; no matter how many times he’d rehearsed it in his head, it still pained him to say it. “I just..thought that it was important that we have this conversation in person.”
Her heart started to race, and for a moment all she could hear was the blood pounding in her ears as it pumped through her veins. “Roman, are you breaking up with me?”
“No,” he answered quickly, shaking his head. “That’s the last thing I want to do.” He put an arm around her shoulder and pulled her into him, pressing a kiss to her temple.
“Oh, thank god.” She breathed a sigh of relief, tracing the tattoo on his pec. “Then, what is it?”
“I don’t remember when we last talked about this, but my contract with Dortmund is up at the end of this year and the managers want to talk to me about re-signing.”
“Wow,” she said, stunned. Of course she was well aware of how good he was, regardless of how long it had been since he’d gotten a National Team call-up. He was a key player for Dortmund, starting almost every match, and even though she cringed every time the ball came his way, she tried to watch all of his appearances whether he knew it or not. “How long would your new contract last?”
“The foreseeable future. Five years at minimum is what we discussed, provided I don’t have any major injuries. We even talked about the possibility of me retiring with the club, but that’s at least a decade away if things go my way.”
She cursed in Swiss-tinted German, the unexpectedness of it all hitting her like a punch to the gut. Tears sprang to her eyes and she blinked them back, hoping Roman hadn’t seen them. “That’s a long time,” she said when she’d regained her composure, trying desperately to find some small bit of hope to cling onto.
“Yeah…”Roman agreed, trailing off. “I just… I keep waiting for things to get easier for us.”
“So, uh, what are you gonna tell them?” She asked, placing a hand on his forearm as some modicum of reassurance.
“I- I don’t know. I was hoping that the drive to you would clear my head and show me the right answer, but-” he took her hand in one of his, focusing on that so he wouldn’t have to look her in the eye, “seeing you? I don’t wanna lose this.” He took her hand and placed it over the tattoo on his chest so she could feel his heartbeat under her fingertips.
“Okay, so what do we do?” She asked, her brain already switching into work-mode trying to figure it all out. “Do I just pack up my life and move to Dortmund with you?”
“Or I move back here,” Roman said, and she could already hear the melancholy in his voice.
“And turn down the opportunity to finish out your career at a great club before you move onto the next chapter of your life,” she finished for him, the heavy feeling in her heart returning.
Roman sighed, running a hand over his scruff and then through his hair, not knowing what to do. “I was hoping that we’d have the weekend to talk it over, figure it out, formulate a plan, but then-”
“Your car, I know,” she replied, unable to keep the bitterness out of her tone. A lump was starting to form in her throat and she knew the tears were going to start falling very soon, and she knew that if they did, she wouldn’t be able to stop them until she was all cried out. “I’m gonna need a minute to think about this…”
“There has to be a way through this.” Roman felt like he was pleading now, hanging on to the one reason outside of family he came back to Münsingen.
She gave him a sad, watery smile, taking his face in her hands and giving him a soft kiss. “I liked this a whole lot better before we started talking.”
“Me, too.”
- - -
She took a walk while Roman showered, accidentally wandering into the café they’d met at six years before. It wasn’t often that she came to this café as everywhere she looked seemed to remind her of them and the time they’d spent here together.
The same person who’d waited on them the very first time all those years ago was still behind the counter, greeting her the moment she walked in. “I haven’t seen you around here in awhile,” the old woman said, giving her a warm smile.
“I haven’t had much reason to be back here in awhile,” she answered, taking a seat at one of the stools at the bar area. “I just needed to get out and...clear my head.”
The woman nodded solemnly, pouring a cold glass of water. “Is everything okay?”
“I don't know.” It was an honest answer, but one she hadn’t voiced until now, the words sounding odd coming out of her mouth. She ordered her usual, her mind wandering back to the very first time she’d met Roman here.
The old woman said her name a few times, finally getting her out of her reverie. “Here’s your order,” she said, nudging the cup toward her.
“Do you ever have those days where you wonder why things can’t just be easier?” The question was out of her mouth before she could even stop it, but thankfully there wasn’t anyone else but her and the old woman in the cafe.
“Why? What’s wrong?”
Those three words opened up a flood of emotions and before she knew it, she was pouring her heart out to the woman behind the counter. She wasn’t sure if the woman knew who she was talking about - with a population of a little more than 11 000, Münsingen was on the larger side of municipalities, but with only a handful of well-known professional footballers, she couldn’t be sure.
By the time she walked out of the cafe, she knew what she was going to do.
- - -
Roman double-checked the address on his phone for what felt like the hundredth time, but he knew he had it right. He stood outside, adjusting his suit and tie one final time as he took in the sign for the café. There had been a weird feeling in his gut from the moment she’d left to the moment he’d received her text telling him to meet her here at this address at 7pm.
The little bell at the top of the door jingled as he entered, signalling his arrival. Roman turned the corner to find the café completely empty, save for his girl in the centre of the room, ‘their’ booth adorned with candles and wine. Jazz music was playing softly over the speaker, and Roman couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
“What is all this?” He asked, his gaze roaming over her. She was dressed in one of his favourite dresses on her, and Roman felt awestruck in her presence.
“Sit,” she said, gesturing to ‘his’ side of the booth as she took her own seat opposite him.
“Did you close down the whole café?” Roman tried to make conversation, unsure of what to do next.
She lifted a shoulder in a partial shrug. “I’ll leave that to your imagination.”
Just then, the old woman came over. Roman felt like he was back in that café seeing the woman he now called his girlfriend for the first time, familiarity shocking him unexpectedly. “So, the set menu for tonight is mozzarella sticks, four-cheese lasagna, and a blueberry cheesecake for dessert.”
“That’s a lot of dairy,” Roman balked but couldn’t hide the fact that he was very hungry and it all sounded appetizing.
“All your cheat-day favourites,” she said as the woman walked away.
Roman’s chest tightened at the gesture that subtly hinted how well she knew him. The crossroads they were at now was just a bump in the road he kept internally repeating to himself, hoping he’d start to believe it soon. “So…” he started, clearing his throat. A part of him didn’t want to do this now before they’d even eaten, but he’d be remiss if he didn’t at least say something.
She said, the words for him, though, and time seemed to stop. “You can’t move back here, Roman. You’ve been offered the job of your dreams and there’s no turning back now. Just think of all the trophies you can bring to Dortmund. Maybe you’ll even get another national team call-up before you retire. You’ve got so much to accomplish in Germany and I don’t want to hold you back.”
“What about you?” Roman asked. He felt like he was grasping at straws, but he needed to know that she was going to be okay without him even if it broke him. “What are you gonna do?”
“I can’t move with you, Roman.”
“I wouldn’t let you even if you tried. You’re building something special here with your graphic design business, and you deserve to see where it takes you.” Roman swallowed past the lump in his throat, reaching across the table for her hand. “I’m so proud of you.”
“I’m so proud of you.” She played with his fingers, trying to steady her emotions. “I’d like to think that we helped each other get here.”
Roman’s other hand came up, taking her chin between his thumb and index finger so she could look at him as he said with certainty, “I know we did.”
“And when you drive back to Dortmund tomorrow, I want you to know how grateful I am to have met you.”
“I don’t think I’m ever going to meet another woman who made me feel the way that you do.” Roman’s eyes searched hers. He needed her to know that he spoke the truth. Losing her would be the biggest loss of his life, but on some level he’d known that this was going to be the last trip he made to see her the moment he’d turned onto her street and this confirmed it.
“I’m sure there’ll be some other woman...somewhere.” She tried to make a joke but it fell flat, the thought of Roman moving on to someone new making her want to cry.
Finally defeated, Roman sighed. “Can’t say that we didn’t try.”
Six, almost seven, years. That was how long the two of them had supported the other, through good and bad. There had been some rough patches and more than a few fights, but they’d always come back from them stronger than ever.
“I love you, Roman,” she whispered, releasing his hand.
“I love you, too.”
Roman leaned in and she did, too, their lips meeting in soft kiss goodbye that said all they couldn’t say with words.
With tears in her eyes, she stood up and Roman instinctively shifted over so that she could come sit next to him in the booth. He put an arm around her shoulder, pulling her into him. Reaching over, Roman grabbed his wine glass and gesticulated a toast. “To us.”
She did the same, looking over at him as their glasses clinked together.
“To us.”

Flower Child (Peter Parker x ofc)
Chapter 11: Just a Nobody
I’m really sorry I haven’t been consistent in updating on this platform, I think I’ll just mass update on here and catch up to speed? Idk, it’s a lot and again, I’m sorry. I’m trying to find inspiration to write!
warnings: Peter being rude, angst, depictions of anxiety… sorry 😬, mentions of death
The pair of them didn’t leave the greenhouse until midnight that night. Papers had been scattered around a workbench in the greenhouse under a single lamplight, covered in formulas that had been scratched and edited past legibility. Lila and Peter made an incredible team, much to their surprise, and within just a few short hours, a new webbing formula had been made.
Peter also walked her home, despite Lila reassuring him that he didn’t have to. He merely brushed off her attempts and bid her goodnight at her door. And despite the crazy events, like her almost dying, she went to bed with a smile on her face. Her crush was a superhero, how could she not?
When she went to school the next day, Lila was tired but cheerful. A light kind of air sat in her chest and put her in a good mood, even with the whispers of what happened the day before following her to her locker. She supposed the feeling of falling in an elevator made things like school more enjoyable since they were a part of living, but she attributed her happiness mostly to the two boys who walked quickly over to her locker as soon as they saw her.
“Hey, Lila,” Peter said, lips twitching in a nervous smile.
“Hey, guys, what’s-?”
“So you know?” Both Lila and Peter looked to Ned, whose expression was unreadable. “About-“ His voice lowered into a whisper, “-Peter’s sticky situation?”
A patch of red grew on the boy in question’s face, and he sent an exasperated stare his friend’s way. “Dude, come on, at least think of a better code name.”
“So you know?” Ned asked Lila again, to which she nodded apprehensively. Her eyes flickered to Peter, who offered an apologetic shrug. When she looked back to Ned again, he looked relieved. “Finally. I’ve really needed this, I didn’t know how much longer I could keep it a secret-“
“Ned,” Peter said, “You found out last week.”
“- I thought I was gonna blow it, but I didn’t. And now I can talk to you about how totally amazing this is.” Ned inhaled deeply, launching into a slew of questions. “So how did you know it was him? Are you psychic? Did you psychically connect to Peter, and that’s how he saved your life? Do you have, like, a spider-link now?”
“N-No, it wasn’t anything like that,” Lila answered him, Peter giving her a thankful look that she interrupted Ned’s questioning. She tucked her hair behind her ear before continuing, “Peter disappearing the night before, y-you having the Ch-Chitauri core, and - and the Stark Internship. Just… a lot of it d-didn’t add up.” Lila looked around them to see Michelle walk through the front doors. “Look, I’d b-better go before MJ gets suspicious but I’ll see you guys for fourth.”
Peter and Ned said their goodbyes while Lila walked down the hallway to her friend. Before she could reach MJ, however, Lila was stopped by Betty Brant, who had a fiercely determined look on her face. “Lila,” she practically addressed, her tone was so formal.
“B-Betty,” Lila swallowed, raising her eyebrows in surprise. “Wh-What’s up?”
“Midtown is running a story on the survivors of the almost-tragic Washington Monument scare yesterday. I need to know that you’ll be available for lunch to answer a few questions with the rest of your team. I would do it now, but I don’t have my co-host.” The last sentence ended with a note of bitterness, and Lila tilted her head in concern.
“Oh n-no, where’s - where’s Jason?”
Betty rolled her eyes, “His mom called him out of first period for some stupid dentist appointment and wouldn’t cancel. I’ve told him time and time again that his mom doesn’t understand how brutally competitive journalism can get in the age of technology.” Her eyes narrowed at the apparently sour thought. “Like, she doesn’t even know how embarrassing it was to see Principal Morita’s fall after the floors were waxed with new wax on Flash’s Snapchat story first. That should’ve been our story, but no, Jason had strep throat.” Her tone grew mocking and she put air quotes around “strep throat”. There was a beat of silence, and then, “Anyways, so I’ll see you at lunch?”
At this point, Lila had been daydreaming of a way to get out of the heated one-sided argument. “Sure.”
Satisfied, Betty nodded. “Good. And don’t talk to anyone else about what happened.” She strode away, leaving Lila feeling slightly confused as she walked over to where MJ was standing, watching the whole interaction.
*****
It didn’t go unnoticed that Lila was becoming fast friends with Peter and Ned. Soon enough, in the span of the next two days, they popped up nearly everywhere in her daily life. For some, it was a welcome addition to Lila’s friend count (now up to three). For others, it was a topic of slight confusion.
“I’m not, like, unhappy for you or anything,” Sophie commented one evening in the flower shop. She was watching Peter and Ned leave through the front doors, the cooler air from the outside falling at their feet. “I just didn’t know you were so close.”
Lila and the boys had just brought over some chemicals they’d nicked from school, and finally perfected the stronger webbing for Peter. It was all discreetly put away in a box tucked underneath spare gardening supplies. The box in question was placed in a corner, out of sight and hopefully out of anyone else’s minds that weren’t Peter’s, Lila’s, or Ned’s.
The door had shut by the time Lila turned back to Sophie, a light blush on her cheeks. “Falling in an e-elevator is a surprisingly easy way to m-make friends.” The flicker of suspicion in Sophie’s eyes disappeared almost immediately at Lila’s reply, and for a moment, Lila had the gut-twisting sensation of guilt. It was confusing: she wasn’t actually lying to Sophie, but she was hiding the truth. Plummeting to her death with Ned by her side did craft a strong foundation of friendship at a remarkably fast rate. And being one of about four people who knew Peter’s secret identity also warranted spending more time together than what was considered normal. Only, she couldn’t tell anyone that last part.
Lila hated that her cover story for spending time around the two boys was her near-death experience, but even she couldn’t deny its effectiveness. Sophie stopped asking questions after her comment, and soon started addressing them with the same familiarity as she would Michelle or her dad.
Michelle, whose skepticism came as easy as breathing, wasn’t as easy to persuade. MJ knew Ned was in the elevator with Lila, and her interest in them hanging out didn’t extend farther than a simple statement of, “Ned needs to download the free VPNs I sent you. I don’t want my network data accidentally getting monitored by the government because he’s using the WiFi at your shop.” Which was fine with Lila, Ned would be one less thing to worry about in regards to her most perceptive friend.
However, with Ned deemed not a problem, MJ’s wariness was focused on Peter. If she thought he was sketchy before, it was nothing compared to how she felt after he started to hang out with Lila. Michelle wasn’t much for holding a conversation with people she didn’t know, but the times where she did talk to Peter, it almost always was staged as interrogation. Lila felt sorry for Peter, for she knew MJ was intimidating, and too smart for her own good. She also knew that Michelle’s intention was a heavily-veiled protectiveness for her friend.
Ted Landry seemed to be the only person in Lila’s life who wasn’t suspicious of her new friends. In fact, he was completely clueless. Peter being around Lila more was merely a correlation to him personally checking on her the night she got back from D.C. The worst part was that Ted told Lila that the reason Peter was starting to be around her so much was because he had a crush on her.
“It just seems kind of obvious,” Ted said, ignoring the choking noises Lila emitted after hearing her dad’s thoughts. He merely patted her on the back as she tried to dislodge the granola that she accidentally sent down the wrong pipe. “I practically did the same thing with your mom, we became inseparable.”
Lila wished above all that her dad’s thoughts were the truth. But the brief look in Peter’s eyes that appeared whenever Liz walked by the three of them in the school’s hallways sent those thoughts crawling on all fours to the back of her mind.
*****
Over the next few days, Lila grew privy to the information Peter was gathering over the last week as Spider-Man. It all started with the bank robbers that accidentally decimated Delmar’s bodega, which Lila learned were capable of doing so with the acquisition of illegal weapons. Weapons that happened to have access to alien technology.
Peter and Ned explained that someone was stealing alien technology and fashioning weapons to distribute on the black market. Their target was Damage Control, whose existence was to be the clean-up crew of the Avengers.
“For lack of a better term,” Peter went on, fiddling with the screwdriver in his hand. That Wednesday evening, Peter had Ned and Lila over after he had perused the streets of Queens as Spider-Man. It was then the two boys filled Lila in on their mission. “But basically this department’s been confiscating all the alien tech and Ultron mess for the past eight years. And the helicarriers in Washington? They’re still working on that stuff.”
“And this guy in the wingsuit… the birdman?” Lila asked, trying to keep up with the nearly unbelievable tale.
A spark emitting from one of Peter’s web shooters had him diving back with his screwdriver. Ned, meanwhile, took the reigns. “We’re pretty sure he’s their leader. But they’ve got this stuff nearly on lockdown. Peter figures he must’ve been doing it from the beginning.”
Lila looked back over to Peter, “Do you know who he is? O-Or any kind of clue?”
The web shooter made a clicking noise that seemed to satisfy Peter. He turned away from his desk and set his eyes back on Lila. Shaking his head, he answered, “No, I’ve got no idea. And he got away with some of the stuff that was in the Damage Control trucks. Best guess, I’ll just have to catch them when they’re out selling this stuff again.” He paused, eyebrows furrowed in concentration. And after a moment, he added as an afterthought, “You didn’t happen to catch what Puth assigned for homework, did you? I wasn’t paying attention.”
“Peter, dinner’s on the table - Lila!” May poked her head inside Peter’s door. Lila whipped her head around to see her large grin, and heard Peter hastily slam his desk drawer shut to hide his web shooters. “I had no idea you were here!”
“Hi, May,” Lila smiled, a pale pink dusting her cheeks. “H-How are things?”
“Finer than wine, honey. I feel so bad, I would’ve made more food if I’d’ve known you guys were going to be here.” Her lips pursed briefly as an afterthought came to mind. “Actually, it might be better if you guys hit the road.”
Peter stared at his aunt exasperatedly, “Oh, c’mon May-“
“Uh-uh,” her expression was suddenly stern when her eyes fell on him, “If you’re going to ditch class, then you’re not going to have friends over.” She softened her gaze when she moved back over to Lila and Ned. “You guys need a ride home?”
Lila grabbed her backpack, eyeing Peter and feeling confused. Why would he ditch class? Peter’s eyes met hers before answering her with a jerk of the head to his desk, where the web shooters lay hidden.
“No,” Lila finally answered, brushing off Peter’s answer with a wave of dismay. “N-No, thanks. My neighborhood’s just f-five blocks over.”
*****
Betty Brant released her story on Thursday morning. Apparently Jason actually did have a pretty awful tooth infection, and wasn’t able to co-anchor her story until then. When Lila walked into school, the conversation, which had just begun to die down, picked right back up, and attention was back on the academic decathlon.
Everyone at Midtown pretty much knew of Lila and her inability to confidently socialize with peers, but that didn’t stop them from pointing at her while poorly concealing whispers. So she was left to navigate the crowded hallways alone, doing her best to ignore the eyes that followed her and the sounds of the news story reporting on her brush with death. One thing she did manage to catch was Jason saying, “Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, thanks to Spider-Man. Up next, the Spider mania is sweeping the school, how can you show your Spider spirit?”
And Jason wasn’t wrong. The talk of Spider-Man was re-invigorated at the school news’ story, and if they weren’t talking about the decathlon team, they were talking about Spider-Man. Some people wore shirts they bought from street vendors, and talked about how amazing he was. Flash was the biggest proponent of this, boasting about how Spider-Man made a harrowing rescue, pulling Flash out of harm’s way just in time, and giving him a fist bump right afterwards. All of which was untrue, and Charles and Abraham we’re glad to remind everyone around Flash of the fact.
Lila felt a deep sense of pride as she made her way down the stairs and past the mural. She knew Peter must’ve been at school, and hearing all of the positive thoughts everyone had on his secret identity. She could feel it in the air: pride. A sense of pride that one of New York’s own was a hero, a champion of Queens. Even Lila herself felt that pride, but for other reasons entirely.
She ran into Ned first, who was beaming at the television screen in the corner of the hall. The two of them shared a knowing smile, and the pair launched into a quiet conversation about it in the otherwise loud hallways. Ned spotted Peter ahead of the two of them, and pushed around the students in his way. He and Lila met Peter at the foot of the stairs, all three grinning from ear to ear.
“Dude, dude, dude, what is it like being famous when no one knows it’s you?” Ned asked.
Rather modestly, Peter smiled and gripped the straps of his backpack. “It’s crazy,” he whispered, looking around to make sure other people weren’t listening.
“Crazy,” Ned repeated, almost in awe. “Should we tell everyone?”
Peter still smiled, but his head tilted a little in confusion, “No.”
“Should I tell everyone?”
“No, dude, that’s not a good idea.”
Ned looked to Lila, “Lila could tell everyone.”
“I-I would not,” Lila said, briefly panicked. She felt better seeing Peter let out a breathy laugh. “Really, I w-wouldn’t do it.”
Ned sighed, his hopes dashed. “Well, come on, we’re gonna be late to class.”
Lila was prepared to bid them goodbye, since their classes were on opposite sides of the hallway, but Peter didn’t follow Ned. “I’m not going to class.”
Ned looked at Lila and looked back, apprehensive, “You're already in so much trouble for ditching the decathlon-“
“P-Peter, you can’t keep d-ditching school-“
“Would you listen? I figured it out, right?” Peter’s voice dropped to a whisper. “I’m going to see if my suit can go back to the deal I walked in on the night of Liz’s party and find out where those guys came from. Maybe they can lead me to the wing suit guy, and then I can catch him!”
“But we have a Spanish quiz,” Ned argued.
Peter looked at Ned with an expression that felt a little belittling. He was tired of arguing and clearly didn’t see why Ned and Lila would want him to stay in school. It was a kind of reckless determination that didn’t sit well with Lila at all. “Ned, I’m probably never going to come back here. Mr. Stark is moving the Avengers upstate. So, when I bring this guy in-“
“Dude,” All the excitement from the morning was gone from Ned. “You wanna be a high school dropout?”
“It wouldn’t be like that,” Peter assured him, even though that’s exactly what it sounded like.
“Ned’s right, Peter, you can’t - you can’t just skip school t-to fight crime. High school’s important-“
But Peter wasn’t listening. In fact, he started walking away. “I am so far beyond high school, right now.” And as he turned to a pair of doors that led to the exit, Principal Morita stood in his way.
“Ah, Mr. Parker,” he said, already walking back down the hallway. “Come with me, my office. Ned, Lila, get to class.”
*****
“Here, c’mon,” MJ pulled at Lila’s arm. The girls had a free period, and usually spent it in the library. Lila has fully planned on spending it pretending to do her homework when in actuality she was just going to worry about Peter.
Skipping school just wasn’t like him. Lila thought he was getting caught up in his situation. True, it was extraordinary beyond belief, and there was no way to tell how she would handle it, but she thought Peter had more grit than what he was showing. School was important, almost if not equally as important as the crime Peter fought in the afternoons.
And then there was the issue of Tony Stark, and Peter’s idea of where he stood. Peter had the mindset that he had to prove himself to Tony Stark in order to be fully accepted into a world he’d always dreamt of, but that made little sense to Lila. In her mind, Tony Stark already was accepting of Peter. If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t have given Peter the suit.
Those were the thoughts Lila distracted herself with in her first two periods, anyway. She’d planned on delving further into her worry during her free time next period. That is, until MJ changed their plans. “And where are we going?” Lila asked, allowing herself to be steered by her taller friend.
“I’ve been sketching the kids in detention,” she answered, ”Lila, they’re the perfect inspiration: they basically all just sit and wonder if they’re lives are going to spiral out of control. Like first, it’s detention, next it’s prison. I mean, you can’t get that kind of raw panic anywhere else.”
“I’m slightly worried you seem so excited about this,” Lila muttered, filing into the classroom where detention was being held. Coach Wilson was already perched at the desk, the TV on the stand waiting to play the Captain America tape that was at the ready. Michelle sat at the edge of the classroom, and Lila sat with her, already pulling out her homework.
She thought she got a few odd stares from the one or two kids that were further in the room, since Lila had never been in any kind of trouble in her life. Even though her presence wasn’t mandatory, she was still unsettled at the thought of being so close to a trouble she had no interest in ever being a part of. She only felt slightly better when Peter walked through the door as the bell rang. He eyed her suspiciously, and seemingly answered his own question when his gaze slid over to Michelle, who was already sketching away.
Peter looked antsy. Sitting in his seat, Lila could see the tension in his shoulders as Coach Wilson lazily went over the rules of detention from his desk chair. He proceeded to play the clip of Captain America lecturing the kids in detention, but Lila could tell Peter wasn’t taking in a word of it. She was considering shooting him a text when suddenly he shot up and grabbed his backpack. He marched out of the room without another word.
After a moment’s hesitation, Lila made the decision to go after him. She told Michelle she’d be right back and hurried after her friend. When she caught up to him, he’d reached the row of lockers where he hid things and lifted it one-handed. Despite her worry, Lila watched him in awe, having to take a second to adjust to the fact that he did actually have super strength.
When the moment ended, her sense caught up to her. “Peter!” She called out, jogging the rest of the way up to him. He turned, impatience dotting across his features. “You can’t go.”
“Lila, I don’t have time-“
“But you do,” She insisted. “Y-You do have time. You can’t just - just leave.”
“Yes, I can,” Peter actually rolled his eyes. It stung Lila more than she thought it would. “Look, you don’t understand, I’ve gotta do this for Mr. Stark. Now, I’ve really gotta go.”
He tried to turn away, but in a bold move, Lila grabbed his arm, “T-Tony Stark is a c-certified genius, and even he stayed in school. Why can’t you?”
“Because when the Avengers move upstate, I’ve gotta be there. The best school I could have would be by learning from him. Who knows, maybe - maybe I’ll get a tutor or something-“
“P-Peter, you’re chasing a-approval from someone who already gave it to you. I mean - look at what y-you’ve already done. The whole school’s b-been talking about it for the entire w-week.”
“Lila,” irritation at still being in school was what made Peter grow short. Lila flinched at the tone. “You don’t get it. I can do so much more if he could just see it, that’s why I’ve gotta go.”
“You do so much, Peter. You - you saved my life twice-“
Peter snapped, “Lila, stop. I’ve made up my mind. I can’t just be Peter Parker anymore, you know? I finally have a chance to prove that I’m so much more than just a nobody now. Because while that might be fine for you, it’s not for me.” The words left his mouth harsh and bitter before his mind could even keep up. Peter didn’t even realize what he’d said until he watched Lila take a step back.
White hot anger burned her skin and flushed her face. Hurt came quickly after, and Lila blinked furiously to stop the tears from rushing to the surface. She released a short breath and made eye contact with Peter. He felt bad, she could tell, but he didn’t offer any kind of apology.
So much for being friends.
“You w-wonder what that life is like, Peter? Being an - an Avenger?” Her voice was quiet, more quiet than normal, but the emotion seemed to amplify it down the empty hallways. “I’ll t-tell you. It’s staring d-down at people who are dead for the sole r-reason that pure evil just likes it that way. It’s being unable to s-save the people you love most, and l-living with that when all is said and - and done.”
“Lila, I-“
She angrily brushed the lone tear away that managed to escape. “You wanna hear wh-what I think? I think that if - if Tony Stark wanted you to b-be like him, he would’ve given you an I-Iron Man suit. Instead he gave you the Spider-Man suit. But what do I know, r-right? I’m just a nobody.” She gave Peter, the boy who broke her heart, one last look. “Good luck out there.”
And she turned around, walking away from Peter Parker with a few tears falling down her face.

Sam, Liz and I hurried down the porch stairs, seeing Brian hurry around the house and towards us.
"Hey. You okay?" he asked us.
Ignoring his question, I got to the more pressing issue. "Where is everybody?"
"Hiding."
"All right, go get them. Go. Go get them," I told him. Once he was gone, I turned back to Liz and Sam. "So, it's not a ghost."
"So, it's just a girl?" Sam shrugged.
I shook my head. "It's not just a girl. It's psycho Nell. I'm telling you, man. Humans."
"Who cares what she is? I wanna know who she is and why she's here." Liz had a good point.
"I don't know." I shrugged. "Maybe it's the daughter, Rebecca. Maybe she didn't hang herself."
"Dude, no." Sam didn't look convinced. "She'd have to be like fifty years old by now."
"Well, I don't know," I sighed. It’s not like we had a lot to work on right now. "What'd you find in the attic?"
"Some old junk. I found Rebecca's diary. That's about it."
"I wish you'd found a howitzer." Anything to get rid of the psycho and keep us safe would be good. "Listen, we got to get this family safe. I mean, it's just a human, so they can make a run for it. We just got to hold her off."
Just then, Susan, Brian and Kate came around the corner. "We're okay," Susan assured us.
"Danny! Ted!" Brian called out. "We got to go!"
A moment later, Ted jogged around from the other side of the house. "I'm good!"
"Danny!" Susan yelled. "Come on!"
"Danny, buddy, we got to go!" Brian added.
Ted turned to me. "Told you it was some crazy bitch."
I fought the urge to roll my eyes. "Yes, you did."
Sam stepped up to Brian and Susan. "Head to town. We'll take it from here, okay?"
"Danny, come on, baby! We're leaving!" Susan was still calling out to her son.
"Danny, we got to go!"
But when neither Brian's or Susan's calls were answered, she turned to her husband with fear in her eyes. "Brian, where- where is he?"
"Danny!"
"Danny!"
When he figured Danny wasn't coming, Brian knew the rest of his family still had to be taken care of, so he grabbed his wife. "Suse, Suse, Suse.” He shook her until she looked at him. “We will find Danny, I promise you."
She shook her head, voice shaking. "No."
"No. Take Kate and go now. Now, while you still have a chance."
"Not without Danny."
"We will find him," he assured her.
Kate shook her head. "I am not going out there with mum alone."
She had a good point, the two of them alone might not last that long... "She's right. Until we find your son, the safest place for you right now is in the shed." I gestured to the small shed a few feet from the house.
Kate turned to me. "I am not going in there either."
"Yes, you are." I wasn't leaving it up for discussion. "It is the best defence. The windows are boarded up. It's got one door. It's our best shot right now. Trust me."
Agreeing with me, Brian nodded as he grabbed his wife's attention again. "Suse. Kate. Go." When they didn't move, he repeated himself, a little firmer. "Go."
Once both Susan and Kate were gone, the rest of us huddled up.
Sam gestured to Brian. "All right, you and me will take the outside." Then he nodded to Liz, Ted and I. "You three take the house. Let's go."

Back in the living room, both Dean and I moved to the door the girl had come out of while Ted grabbed a knife from one of the boxes in the dining room. Opening the door, I crouched down to feel the floor while Dean checked the walls.
"What are you doing?" Ted asked.
"She's human. She had to come from somewhere," Dean explained right before he found a loose board big enough for a person to fit through.
As we pulled the board away, we were hit with a rotting and stale stench. Dean and I didn't react, but Ted pulled away, making a noise of disgust.
"You smell that?"
"Every day," Dean mumbled. Turning to Ted, he gestured for the knife, which Ted gave him. Using his torch to light the way, he crawled into the space. "Come on." Putting both objects in one hand, he offered me the other to help me through.
I took his free hand while Ted held the board out of my way. Moving further into the space, Dean and I stood and shuffled down a little more so Ted could get in. It was a tight fit and dark, and in an instant, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up.
"You feel that?" I swear, it was like I could feel eyes on me, watching our every move.
Dean looked down at me. "What?"
Shaking my head, I dismissed the feeling as just being paranoid. "Never mind."
Once Ted was in, we started to move further down the space. It wasn't long before we came to a corner, and around that corner was a hole.
As Dean looked down the hole, thinking, Ted spoke up, "You're not going down there."
"Well, do you want to?"
Ted didn't say anything, but that told us everything. He wasn't going down, and I really wasn't surprised. Didn't blame him either. But as Dean started to crouch, I knew I couldn't leave him to go on his own.
"I'm going, too."
Dean looked up at me. I could see he was unsure of that idea. "Liz..."
"I'm not asking, Dean. I'm telling.
Sighing, knowing there was no point in arguing, Dean started to lower himself down into the hole. "Please nobody grab my leg. Please nobody grab my leg." The moment he was down he looked around for a moment before looking up at me. "Okay. Just… take it easy."
Nodding, I crouched down and eased my legs in, letting Dean grab my waist and help me down. The whole time, I knew I should be concentrating on the job and the danger, but I couldn't stop thinking about his hands on me. It was like my body was hyper-aware of everything around me. The eyes watching us before, now Dean touching me...
Once my feet were on solid ground, I dusted myself and gave him a small smile. "Thanks."
"No problem." He gave a short nod back and turned, only to jump when he nearly walked into a rat's corpse that hung mere inches from his face. "Son of a-" Turning away from the rat, he paused again, light shining on another corpse. "Dog. It's what's for dinner."
Buster the dog had been torn to shreds. Poor guy...
"Danny?" Dean called, trying to keep his voice low.
"Find anything?" Ted asked from above.
"Yeah, her kitchen," Dean mumbled. "Watch where you're going, okay? There's crap everywhere," he warned me as we started to move, having to stay hunched so as not to hit our heads.
As we looked around, I noticed some artwork drawn on the walls, in blood. It was a picture of two stick figures holding hands, a boy and a girl.
"She's just a kid." The words left my mouth before I realised I was even thinking them.
Dean turned to me. "Liz, she's-"
Before he could finish, he was cut off by the sound of a scream, and then a thump.
Hurrying back to the hole, we reached it two seconds before Ted fell forward, half of him hanging out of the hole, blood dripping from the fatal wound in his neck.
Dean grabbed me and pushed me back as he used his other hand to cover the torch's light. The two of us pressed into the wall as much as possible, trying to stay hidden. Trying not to make a noise or move a muscle.
SPOV
Brian and I were in the shed with Susan and Kate, who were sitting in the corner, waiting. Brian was pacing. We'd been waiting for Dean, Ted and Lizzie to come back for some time now. They'd been gone a lot longer than Brian and I had been out looking for Danny.
"Look," Brian stepped up to me, "why are we just standing here? Let's go in. Let's check the house."
"We have to wait for them to get back, okay?"
There was a knock on the door then, followed by Dean's voice. "Sam, it's us."
Moving to the door, I gestured to the heavy desk we'd put in front of it. "Help me out."
Brian came over to help, pulling the desk out of the way so we could open the door. Once we did, Dean and Lizzie stepped in, alone...
Susan hurried over to them in an instant. "Did you get Danny?"
Dean shook his head, clearly feeling guilty. "No."
"No?" Looking around, Susan then noticed what I already had. "Well, where's Ted?"
"He's outside."
Frowning at Dean's response, Susan didn't stop with the questions. "Well, why doesn't he come inside?"
Dean and Lizzie shared pained looks as my brother answered, "Because I had to carry him out. I'm sorry."
"You're... what does that mean? What does that mean, you're sorry?"
Brian looked between Lizzie and Dean. "Are you saying that he's dead?"
Susan shook her head. "No. No, he's not saying that he's dead. You're not saying that, are you?"
All of a sudden, Lizzie turned and walked out.
Dean watched her go, no one stopping her as he explained what happened. "We were in the walls and she attacked." Susan's hand came up to cover her mouth as she moved to cry against Brian's shoulder as he wrapped an arm around her. "And I couldn't get to him in time."
"Uncle Ted is dead?"
Shaking his head, looking so guilty, Dean turned for the door. "I shouldn't have left him alone." Before he left, he turned back to Brian. "I'm very sorry."
EPOV
Dean was standing a few feet away from where I sat outside the shed, watching the perimeter. Everyone else was inside. Sam was reading the diary he found while Brian tried to calm Susan who was in shock.
"Hi..."
I looked up from where I sat on the grass outside the shed, seeing Kate coming out to stand next to me. "Hey..."
"Can I join you?" she asked, gesturing to the spot next to me.
I moved over a bit as an answer.
Once she sat down, the two of us were silent for a moment or two. Looking out at the house in front of us. Seeing it at night like this, and under these circumstances, it really made the place seem ten times worse than it was. Underneath all the bad, there was plenty of potential.
If it wasn't for the fact hunters don't really settle down, I would have probably found the house nice enough to live in. A bit big. But still nice.
"What's it like?" Kate asked suddenly. "What's your job like?"
"What? Hunting?" I shrugged. "Like any job, sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad."
"So, what you do, it's called hunting?"
"Yeah. We hunt monsters and stuff. Save people."
"People like us?"
"Well, yeah... but normally the monsters aren't people," I noted.
I wasn't sure if Dean, Sam, or even Bobby realised this, but I had never killed a human being. Ever. I mean, I've killed witches, and people who turn into things, and people possessed by demons, but I hadn't killed someone that hadn't been touched by the supernatural.
"How did you become a... a hunter?"
"Dad was killed. Mum was killed. Sister was killed," I answered, a little more harshly than I wanted.
Kate rested her chin on her knees that were bent to her chest. "I lost my brother last year. My older brother, Andy." I could hear the sadness in her voice, the loss. "Does it get better?"
I turned to her then, and for the briefest moment, I saw my younger self in her. Hurting. Lost. Confused. Scared. The world was a bigger and lonelier place now. She'd never see things the way she had before. Everything had changed, and she didn't know what to do.
"It'll get better. But it'll never be the same."
DPOV
I walked up to Brian as he stood in front of the house. "Andy your son?" I asked, having overheard Liz and Kate talking about the family’s loss.
He turned to me briefly before looking at the house again. "Oldest. He got himself killed in a car accident last year."
"I'm sorry."
"It nearly tore Suse and me apart. Still could, I imagine. That's why we moved here. Fresh air, fresh start. Not even my line. Marriage counsellor. 'Course, she might be right. After all, what could possibly go wrong in the country?" He shook his head.
"I'm getting your son back," I assured him. "If it's the last godforsaken thing I do."
"Why do you care so much?"
"Dean." We looked over to see Sam and Liz headed towards us, my brother holding up the book. "We gotta talk."
...
Back in the dining room, I looked around to make sure we were alone before turning to Sam and Liz. "What is that?" I gestured to the book.
"Rebecca's diary," Sam explained. "I just finished reading it."
"And?" I pressed, wanting him to get to the point.
"That girl back there? Pretty sure she was Rebecca's daughter."
I frowned. That didn't make any sense... "Rebecca had a kid?"
Sam nodded. "It's all she talks about. Being pregnant, being ashamed of being pregnant."
"Jeez, rent Juno and get over it," I mumbled. "Wait, why kill herself after the baby?"
"Maybe because her dad called her a dirty little whore and said he was gonna lock the baby up," Sam noted.
"Why would he say that?" When Sam said nothing but just gave me a pointed look, the answer came to me. "Oh, gross."
"Yeah." Sam nodded.
"So, the daddy was the baby-daddy too?"
Liz's face turned up in disgust. "How could someone do that to their own child?"
Sam shook his head, just as grossed out. "Dude was a monster."
"Wow, a story ripped from an Austrian headline," I sighed. "Humans, man." Sometimes they could be worse than the monsters we hunted. "So, she's been locked up her whole life?"
"You saw her eyes. Has she ever seen light? She's barely human," Sam noted.
"Okay, so, what, then, she's been caged up like an animal and she busts out and ganks dear old Dad? Slash Granddad?" I asked, trying to figure out the story so we could figure out what to do next.
"I guess." Sam shrugged.
That made things a little clearer. After a life like that, no wonder she killed her father. "Well, can't say I blame her."
"I'm sure her life was hell, Dean. It doesn't mean she gets a free pass for murder."
"Like you know what Hell's like."
"I didn't..."
No, he didn't know what Hell was like. But I did. I knew the torture and pain of it all. I knew the agony and misery it pulls out of you. The never-ending nightmare you can't wake up from. I'd felt all of it, and I'd inflicted some of the pain too. I knew what it was like, he didn't, so to assume...
"Forget it." Shaking my head, I turned away.
Looking from Sam and me, Liz sighed. "So where is this girl and how do we find her? She's gotta have Danny somewhere."
A thought occurred to me then. "Kid's gotta eat, right?"
"What?" both Sam and Liz asked, confused.
"He kept her hidden, locked up, but he had to feed her, didn't he?"
Sam shrugged. "I guess."
"I think I know where."
SPOV
In the kitchen, Dean, Liz, Brian and I stood around the dumbwaiter. Dean used a fireplace poker to break the drywall to make a hole that would lead down under the house. His theory was that the girl lived under the kitchen, and would be keeping Danny down there too. With no other real options, we were working with his hunch.
"Could've kept her hidden here for years," I noted. "Kept her fed, nobody would ever know."
Once Dean broke through the drywall, Brian flinched back from the rotting stench coming from the hole in the wall.
I moved to lean in, shining the light into the shaft. "Danny! Danny!"
"Watch out, I'm going down," Dean told me. It wasn't a question, and there was no way to stop him.
"No," Brian argued. "That's my son."
But like I said, there was no way to stop Dean. "I know it is, but I said that I would get him. I will. Let me."
After a moment, Brian gave him a short nod of approval. Turning to the shaft, Dean pulled himself in and got himself into a position where he could use the sides to climb down.
Before he did, Lizzie stepped up to him. "Don't do anything stupid. You need help, you yell. Okay?"
"Okay," he assured her.
Once he started climbing down, I leaned into the gap to check on him. The moment his feet touched the ground, I pulled out to look at Brian. "Hey, you got curtains? We need rope."
Without a word, he turned to get what we needed.
Lizzie stepped up to join me then, the two of us squeezing together to look down the shaft to see Dean disappearing, out of sight.
DPOV
As I moved around, I found some of my weapons lying on the ground, scattered all over the place. Picking a gun up, I checked it. "Bitch is a klepto." Moving further in, I picked up another gun and checked it too. "Come on." They were both good. Now armed, I felt a little safer to call out. "Danny. Danny."
The sound of Danny trying to yell or scream caught my attention.
"Danny?" Following the noise, I ended up finding a small gap in a wall.
Shining my light through, I saw Danny bound and gagged, sitting in the dirt. Using my knife, I reached through to cut the ropes around his feet and wrists, setting him free so he could crawl through the hole to me.
"Your dad's upstairs," I told him as we started for the shaft again. "Come on. Watch your head, watch your head."
"Hurry, he's coming back."
I paused. "He?"
"Her brother."
Suddenly a yell came out of nowhere before I was tackled to the floor.
EPOV
Looking into the shaft, I saw Danny come into view. Turning, without a word, I grabbed the makeshift rope Brian and Sam had made out of curtains, and dropped it down the hole. "Danny! Grab on!"
He did as I said, tying the rope around him and gripping onto it tightly. "Okay!"
Once he was ready, I yelled to the others. "Pull!"
Working together, Sam, Brian and I pulled Danny up carefully. I was closest to the gap, grabbing him the moment I could as I helped him out and onto his feet.
Now safe, he ran to his dad, who held him protectively. "Come on. You okay? It's okay."
"Get him out of here," Sam told them. "You gotta go."
I didn't watch to see what they were doing, the moment Danny was out I'd already started to climb into the hole and down the shaft, heading for the basement.
"Lizzie? What are you doing?" Sam moved to try and stop me.
"Dean needs help," was all I said before I moved away from his grasp and started down the shaft.
As I landed on the ground, I listened to the sound of a fight and struggles. Following the noises, I found Dean under a guy who looked just as bad as the girl. It didn't take a genius to figure out he must be her brother.
But I didn't care who he was. He was on top of Dean, attacking him. Dean was in danger. He couldn't see, and I wasn't sure if he even had a weapon to protect himself with. Then to top it off, the boy pulled out a knife, lifting it above his head to bring it down on Dean.
"No!"
Lifting my hand, I threw the boy up and away from Dean, not really thinking about what I was doing. At the same time, Dean sat up and aimed the gun he had, pointing it towards the boy before shooting him in the chest three times.
As the body slumped to the ground, blood oozing from the wounds, I hurried over to Dean, falling to my knees beside him. I checked him over worriedly, making sure he was okay, that he wasn’t hurt. My wide eyes took every inch of him, panicked and concerned.
“Liz.” He rested his hand on mine, stopping me. “I’m okay.”
Slowly, I looked up, meeting his gaze. Then I was throwing my arms around him in a tight and desperately relieved hug.
It took a moment, but after a pause I felt him relax as his own arms wrapped around me, returning the hug.
DPOV
Turns out, while the brother had been attacking me, the girl had gone after Susan and Kate. But Brian had dealt with her... and by dealt with, I mean he'd killed her.
It was morning now, and time to get out of there. I was just finishing fixing Baby while Sam and Liz put all the guns and our supplies back in the trunk. As soon as I finished they came over to stand with me, the three of us turning to see Susan and Brian headed our way.
I gave them a nod. "Thanks for the head start."
Brian looked to each of us. "Why doesn't it surprise me you three don't like the police?"
Sam chuckled lightly. "It's sort of a mutual-appreciation thing, really."
Reaching forward, Brian offered me his hand, which I took. "Well, thank you."
Susan nodded. "Thank you."
"You okay?" I asked her.
She looked to her husband before shaking her head. "No, we're the opposite of okay, but we're together," she answered honestly as she slipped her hand into Brian's. "Thanks."
...
Parked under an overpass, Sam, Liz and I got out of Baby and moved to the hood as Sam passed around some burgers. Leaning against Baby, I unwrapped my food and gave it a smell before wrapping it back up and setting it down next to me.
"You okay?" Sam asked me as Liz paused, halfway through a bite.
"You know, I felt for those sons of bitches back there. Lifelong torture turns you into something like that."
"You were in Hell, Dean," Sam started. "Look, maybe you did what you did there, but you're not them. They were barely human."
I nodded. "Yeah, you're right. I wasn't like them. I was worse. They were animals, Sam, defending territory. Me? I did it for the sheer pleasure."
Liz swallowed her food, her eyes wide. "Dean..."
"I enjoyed it. They took me off the rack, and I tortured souls, and I liked it." I looked away from them as I went on. "All those years, all that pain. Finally getting to deal some out yourself. I didn't care who they put in front of me. Because that pain I felt, it just slipped away. No matter how many people I save, I can't change that. I can't fill this hole. Not ever."

Tumblr media
Naruto
Obviously, he's a parody artist
Im talking Weird Al type shit, no one is safe from his satirical soundwaves my dude
Once, he had to hide in his house after doing a rendition of Sakura's "Bonds Make the Girl" as "Signs You're a Squirrel".
Sakura
Plays the guitar and makes strictly acoustic songs.
She desperately wants to be an Indie Taylor Swift
Shes very defensive of her music, and wont do big shows. She loves her small venue coffeehouse, sitting-on-a-stool scene
Sasuke
Totally strikes me as the edgy, depressed rap type.
See XXXTentacion "Sad!"
Wont perform shows, super behind closed walls. Releases under the name sAdk!d and no one knows its him
Neji
Lead singer of a Metal Screamo band
He's got anger, he's got angst, he's got one raspy yelling voice, so welcome to his musical outlet
Its easy to tell he's venting, he'll always be red faced and sweating by the end of the set
Rock Lee
Lee doesnt seem very musical to me.
I think he'd be more of an MC. Like, professional hype man
"ARE YOU READY FOR THIS? PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THIS RYTHMIC REPRESENTATION OF YOUTH"
Tenten
Definitely in a Riotgirl band
Like. Destroy Boys "I threw glass at my friends eyes and now Im on probation" style
Shes a bad bitch, she knows it, and yall have to see that she takes no shit. Therefore her music is hard, no-bs, and vErY feminist
Kiba
He's lead guitarist and backup singer in a punk pop band with Hinata
Theyre a lot like Paramore, kinda edgy but with mass appeal
He loves the attention of being on stage, by far the hearthrob of the group. He's got groupies everywhere
Shino
He's a DJ, like EDM. Skrillex, etc.
He doesnt sing, but he likes the way he can blend a tune, and add lots of bass
Bass is essential, his insects like the waves when he's blasting the music behind the turntable
Hinata
Lead singer in the band with Kiba
He vocals are Haley Williams-esque, but with a tinge of Evanescence
Shes got an eerie tone, and gets way into it. When shes performing, theres no way to reach her. Shes in her own little world
Shikamaru
Hes one of 2 things
A) closeted SoundCloud Rapper *peeks from the shadows* "Yall wanna hear my mixtape"
B) plays bass shirtless in Neji's metal band, and completely blows off any groupies hes got following him around
Ino
Is by far an 80s Pop Princess
Much like a Cyndi Lauper or a Blondie, shes a queen. Untouchable
She writes all her own songs, and you can tell. She pours all her all her lyrics and she knows its iconic
Choji
Also has 2 options
A) Oldschool Crooner. In the style of Frank Sinatra. Like this man, on stage, in a suit, singing "My Way". BE STILL, MY HEART
B) Plays drums in Neji's band with Shikamaru. Loves to flail that mane around, bring the beat in, break some sticks, and once dived off stage to join the mosh pit.
