Loud footsteps made you all slowly turn. Still half confused about the sudden change in interior. Your eyes widened at the sight of him at the upper level. – “Ben!” – you exclaimed happily. The Ben at the top grabbed the railing, jumping over it as he landed firm on his feet. He slowly rose while you were gaping in awe at him. – “Ben!” – Klaus said loudly, opening his arms to go and hug him. Ben pulled his nose up, slapping his arms away. – “You are trespassing hobo.” – he commented in detest.

Klaus pressed his hand to his heart, shocked. – “You hurt my feelings Ben.” - Klaus said making Ben scoff. – “A matter of fact… you all are.” – Ben continued, tugging his hand in his pocket. – “What’s with the uniform?” – Five questioned. It was only now that you all noticed it. The change of color and emblem on his uniform. – “You wouldn’t get it schoolboy.” – Ben responded. Five clenched his jaw, ready to jump at him if Luther hadn’t held him back.

Your eyes widened seeing more people appear on the upper level. – “Need any help brother?” – a girl spoke. Ben held his hand up. – “I can handle these…” – his gaze went obviously up and down cocky over your posture. – “Children.” – he addressed glancing at Five. Five gritted his teeth as you held him back by his shoulder.

“We aren’t trespassing this is our home!” – Luther called out. – “We are the Umbrella academy.” – he said looking at his siblings to back him up. – “You are dead.” – he added pointing at Ben. Ben scoffed loud. – “Clearly I’m not!” – he said. – “And this is the Sparrow academy.” – he explained as his siblings came downstairs. – “Sparrow?” – Diego whispered out, looking at Victor. Victor shrugged his shoulders. You stepped forwards making Ben glance intrigued at what you might say.

“Maybe this is all kind of messed up. I mean we did just time-jump back here.” – you concluded. – “But that man…” – you pointed at the portrait of Reginald. – “Is our father.” – you finished. Ben chuckled, eying you up and down. – “Oh right! Time-jump well maybe father saw how useless you all are and decided he needed to adopt other children. Children who wouldn’t be so worthless.” – he pushed you back by your forehead.

You stumbled back as Diego caught you before you could trip. – “Sparrow Ben is a dick!” – you told him seeing him nod. Clearly this Ben wasn’t like the Ben you knew. The Ben you grew up with. Ben glanced over his shoulder to his siblings by his side. – “Let’s show them out.” – he smirked, expression hardening on you. – “That one’s mine.” – he grunted out. You swallowed nervously slowly backing up.

Ben moved his body as his tentacle arms shot out. You screamed loud when they lurched towards you. You quickly dove under the coffee table as a tentacle missed you. Eyes widened when the table got lifted up. Ben tilting his head murderously enjoyable at you. – “Gotcha!” – he laughed out. You shrieked moving your hands up to block his next attack. Ben smiled greedily when he forced his tentacles down to you. You gasped hard when your brother Five popped up near you, knelt down.

In a split second he had his arms around you, teleporting with you. Ben’s tentacles went down, grabbing thin air as it made him glare. You re-appeared in the hallway, gasping loud. – “Definitely not our Ben.” – you breathed out. Five held his finger up telling you to wait while he teleported again. – “Umbrella girl.” – you heard Ben call out tauntingly. – “Come out and play.” – he went on making you tense your jaw. So not your Ben.

You left your hiding place, spotting Diego throwing knives coming into the hallway backwards. He nearly bumped into you, ready to throw knives at you. – “Watch me sis, I got knives!” – he scolded you. Diego and you backed up when Ben came in the hallway. – “There you are!” – he said as you were standing behind your brother, hand on his shoulder.

Your eyes falling on the knife he was holding. – “I’ll take that.” – you told Diego, plucking the knife from him. – “Wha…?” – before he could be more visibly confused, you threw the knife at Ben. It scraped his arm, sliding his vest a bit open. The knife clattered to the ground as you smiled embarrassed at him. Ben grunted looking at his torn vest. Diego gave you a brotherly slap against the back of your head. – “Don’t touch my knives.” – he called out. – “Diego not the right time.” – you told him between a held up smile. – “No Y/n I already told you; you don’t touch my knives.” – he continued holding his finger up.

Meanwhile Ben cracked his knuckles readying himself to attack you with his tentacles again. – “Diego Run!” – you shouted, pulling him with you by his vest. His eyes widened seeing the tentacles speeding his way. Diego quickened his pace, taking the front as he was dragging you along now. You made it outside just in time. Out of breath you encountered Klaus sitting on the porch. – “Oh there you are I was starting to wonder if any of you were going to show up.” – he casually said making Diego nudge his legs to get up.

Not a moment later busted Allison, Luther, and Victor out. Five teleported a second later, adjusting his vest. – “Now this is a major issue.” – he said stroking his hand over the back of his head. – “You think!” – Allison blurted out. She scoffed loud taking a walk. Luther going after her which led to Victor following to Diego and Klaus following. You motioned to Five with your head to come along. He nodded giving you a weary smile.

Ben clicked his tongue hatefully at you. You rolled your eyes at him. – “Is Luther here? I know you have him so don’t even try to lie to me.” – you called out, letting yourself in the Sparrow Academy without approval of him. Ben scoffed, grabbing you by your wrist to a stop. – “Listen princess, what if we have him?” – Ben said as you pulled your hand out of his grip. – “Maybe he finally has seen how much more potential this family has considered against yours.” – he mocked, knowing it would taunt you.

You tensed your jaw, glaring at him. You turned away from him, shouting loud in the hallway. – “Luther! Luther come down!” – your voice booming loud in the hallway. Ben grabbed your hand to stop you as he immediately flinched his hand back after coming in contact with yours. He rubbed his hand. – “So you do have abilities. For a while I thought you were their mascot.” – he replied with a sneer. You smiled sarcastically at him, showing him your hand as electricity moved around your fingers.

You had given him a small electric shock the moment he grabbed your hand. – “Luther! Come out we are going home!” – you yelled loud. Ben grabbed for your shoulder as you flung your arm back to release his touch on you. – “Listen squid, you touch me one more time and I’ll fry you!” – you threatened. Ben chuckled. – “I’d like to see you try.”

He didn’t have to say that twice. You let electricity surround your hands, extending your hands out to him as the electricity hit him flat in the chest. Ben got flung against the wall, dropping coughingly down. He pressed his hand against his chest watching you walk off. – “Luther! Luther where the hell are you?” – you shouted for his attention. As you were about to step on the stairs, your path was blocked by Christopher. He changed color while bleeping something.

“You want to have a go cube?” – you taunted having enough of being held back. Christopher turned a bright red as you acted faster than him. You electrocuted him. His entire cube shivering till he dropped to the ground. – “Luther!” – you screamed out stepping over the cube. You came upstairs, hearing Luther’s voice come from out of a room. You went in, trying not to be amazed by the gym set up in the house. – “Y/n?” – Luther said confused jumping up.

Sloane sitting beside him as she stopped smiling. You pointed at him. – “We are going home!” – you made clear. Luther looked briefly down at Sloane, hesitating. – “Luther I said we are going home!” – you repeated not wanting to stay one minute longer with the Sparrows. Out of breath appeared Ben behind you. – “Luther you don’t have to go if you don’t want to.” – he said rather warmly and caring.

It made you frown, staring stunned at his sudden friendliness. – “Shut up!” – you told him, having enough of his ego. – “Luther. Let’s go home.” – you said in a friendlier tone. Luther was still hesitant as you could practically hear Ben snicker in your ear. – “Luther I am your family. I’m your sister… please come home…I need you.” – you begged as Ben snorted loud at your confession.

You let your hand be surrounded by electricity as you touched Ben’s side. He jumped aside at the sudden sting in his side. Luther sighed deep, apologizing to Sloane. He walked over to you as you hugged him. Or rather he hugged you, lifting you up and squashing you in his tight embrace. – “Let’s go home sis.” – he said patting you on the head. You stuck your tongue out to Ben to rub it just that little bit more in his face.

Ben gave you a smile full of mockery back. God how much you hated him. How you also hated that he was exactly like the Ben you knew only raised more messed up. Ben stepped aside allowing you to leave with Luther. – “Are we just going to let them leave?” – Jayme questioned loudly. – “Let’s just kill them now!” – She insisted on. Ben held his hand up to silence her. Looking back to you for as long as he could.

Jayme was running after you. Glancing over your shoulder, you saw her approaching. Her expression hard and tense. Puffing loudly, you tried to keep in front of her, outrunning her. – “Hey Umbrella!” – she called out tauntingly speeding up. You felt her grip to you closer, her hand moving over your back to put you to a stop. You came to a halt as she had grabbed a hold of your hair. – “I wasn’t done talking.” – she said teasingly pulling you back by your hair.

You inhaled sharp through your nose, at the brink of giving her a piece of your own mind. You stepped back as she kept moving backwards. Feeling a sudden tug on your hair, made you turn your head to look. Ben’s hand firm around her wrist as he had pulled it off you. – “What are you doing?” – he said coldly, pushing her wrist to her it made her stumble backwards. Jayme puffed some hair out of her face. – “Getting revenge on the umbrella.” – she called out, glaring at you.

Ben glared right back at her. You observed their interaction with curiosity. Ben glanced your way, softening his expression. With a touch of his hand on your lower back, you felt your heart flutter for him. – “Ben let me just…” – Jayme started launching her hand at you. Ben caught her by the wrist again. Her hand clawed out inches away from your face. It made you widen your eyes brief, taking a subtle step back to have her hand out of your face. He swayed his finger to the side, shaking his head.

Jayme gritted her teeth, slapping her hand out of his grip, accidently hitting him in the face. Ben touched his cheek from the impact. Your eyes widened and hardened with anger. – “You hit him!” – you called out. – “How dare you hit him!” – you added while Ben waved his hand at you that it was alright. You called out a war cry, jumping at Jayme. You wrapped your legs around her while slapping her on top of her head. Jayme was receiving the impact trying to get you off. – “Get her off!” – Jayme screamed irritated.

Ben simply crossed his arms, smiling teasingly at you. You jumped off her, puffing loud. Jayme glared, readying her teeth to spit at you. Before she could spit at you, you electrocuted her. Her body spasmed till she dropped unconscious to he ground. – “I knew you could handle yourself.” – Ben said teasingly. You smiled sweetly at him. – “I just electrocuted your sister to the ground.” – you told him getting closer.

“Aren’t you getting revenge?” – you whispered standing as close as possible to him. Ben smirked. – “Would you like me to?” – he spoke back. You shrugged your shoulders. – “Try me Sparrow.” – you teased with a flirty smile. Ben’s gaze lowered to your lips as he briefly licked his. You moved your hand forwards as he grabbed it, quickly spinning you around till you were held against his chest.

He took in a deep breath, moving his head down to your shoulder. – “I could just use my abilities on you.” – he pondered with a chuckle. You cleared your throat drawing his attention to the hand he was still holding upwards of yours. A few sparkles of electricity moving around your fingers. He moved his hand over yours, clearly not bothered by the faint electricity running around it. He stretched your arm out, squinting his eye.

He then removed his hand from on top of yours, whispering shoot in your ear. You released a shot of electricity as it flung across the room, hitting a lightbulb hanging on the wall of the hotel. The lightbulb exploded making Ben smile. You turned your head to the side, glancing up to him. Turning your posture more, you were facing him again. Your heart pounding loudly. It has always beaten for Ben. Whether it be Umbrella Ben or Sparrow Ben.

Ben slowly parted his lips. – “I know you loved this other Ben.” – he whispered to you, moving his palm against your cheek. Hardening his grip as he moved his hand further back to your neck, grabbing you there. – “I think I’m gonna steal you from him.” – his last words ended as he forced his lips onto yours. You completely melted under his kiss, Sparrow Ben all you could think about. How much you hoped Umbrella Ben would forgive you for. Even though he was already long gone.

Sloane paused as she walked past the sofa. There was a fine layer of glitter everywhere and you’d been tied up. It looked as if you’d fallen while trying to get loose.

“Sloane! Help me!” You insisted and made a pleading face.

“What happened?” She asked. Ben strolled into the room and rolled his eyes.

"(Y/N) covered me in glitter while we were making christmas decorations so I put them in a time-out until I’m not mad anymore." He explained. As soon as you were free you dove for Ben and pulled a handful of glitter from your pocket. He dove behind the sofa causing you to hit Sloane in the face. That did nothing to slow you down as you rolled over the back of the sofa and threw another fistful at him.

“You won't get me again (Y/N)!” He insisted. He managed to tackle you and suddenly there was a puff of glitter on his face. He laughed when he managed to get it out of his face and realised that you were also covered in glitter.

“A little friendly fire. Totally worth it though.” You grinned as Ben looked to the side and saw you’d rigged up a glitter bomb to shoot at you both. He had enough time to roll and use you as a shield as it exploded and the entire ground floor of the building was covered in glitter.

“You know you two are going to be the ones cleaning this up right?” Sloane said as she left the two of you wrestling over a water balloon filled with glitter.

I'm tired of waiting for asks I'm answering a whole ask game here and now.

✨- How did you come up with the OC’s name? Faolan name comes from the fact the commonly accepted way to refer to the protagonist of Destiny is "Young Wolf". Faolan itself is a name, irish in origin, that means "Little Wolf". Her last name Ashford, is generally accepted to mean "Ford by the ash trees." A ford is a shallow place in a river that can be easily crossed. And ash trees represent, generally, a place between life and death, or represent death itself. I like this last name for her because it, to me at least, means crossing a barrier between life and death. This works very well for her, a character constantly caught between life and death, often acting as a bringer of one to allow the other. Her name before she was raised was Atticus. This is because I like the name. I have never read To Kill a Mockingbird.

🌼 - How old are they? (Or approximate age range) Physically she's stuck at 22 forever </3. But she was rezzed about six years ago in the real world.

🌺- Do they have any love interest(s)? Our favorite boy Crow and her have something going on there, that's for sure <3

🍕 - What is their favorite food? She doesn't a lot of the time! She's too busy. But when she is forced to sit down and eat something, she's not picky. But she's particularly fond of rice in any form.

💼 - What do they do for a living? Well, you'd assume Guardian is a job in and off itself, right? NO. She makes most of her glimmer through Gambit and Crucible, as well as a far bit from gambling and illegal Sparrow racing.

🎹 - Do they have any hobbies? Sparrow Racing, that's about it.

🎯 -What do they do best? Faolan is a warrior at her heart, she always has been. Even when she was a child wandering the wastelands with Ulysses following the collapse. She fights like nothing else matters but ending the opponent in front of her, but she's clever enough to know when to disengage.

🥊 -What do they love to do? What do they hate to do? She likes fighting, her friends, generally moving fast lil speed demon, winning, racing people, competition, and she likes books. She hates Vanguard meetings, sitting still, and days when there isn't wind.

❤️ - What is one of your OC’s best memories? Lighting the braziers at the Iron Temple.

✂️ - What is one of your OC’s worst memories? Carrying Cayde's body back from the Prison of Elders.

🧊 - Is their current design the first one? Yes! She's had the same face since she was originally made. Thank you, Rudder. Though, her armor has changed quite a bit.

🍀 - What originally inspired the OC? She wasn't inspired by anything! I didn't make her! My brother did! I just added gaps between the events in Destiny to make a more compelling character to write about. And Rudder based her design off of my when he was making her for me, so I guess me?

🌂 - What genre do they belong in? Sci-fi. Obviously.

🙌 - How many sibling does your OC have? One biologically, but she's ostensibly claimed Ripley as her sister. So, effectively two.

🍎 - What is the OC’s relationship w/their parents like? They're super dead! But her various mentor figures, pretty solid. I don't think she would've survived Forsaken without Ikora as support.

🧠 - What do you like most about the OC? I like all the memories I have of her. Just because she's my character in Destiny. All the hours I messed around with Bella and Ben in the Reef, the misery and screaming in Spire, the late night Crucible sessions, the staying up till way past late. The friends Destiny, and by extension, Faolan, has helped me make. People that I wouldn't know if Rudder hadn't snatched my controller from my hands and made her for me on December 22nd, 2012.

✏️ - How often do you draw/write about the OC? I write about her at least once a week.

💎 - Do you ever see yourself killing off the OC? I can't. She can't die.

💀 - Does your OC have any phobias? Lygophobia, the fear of the dark.

🍩 -Who is your OC’s arch-nemesis or rival? Besides the obvious, the Witness, she has MAD beef with Marcus Ren because it's HIS FAULT she got banned from the SRL.

🎓 - How long have you had the OC? Oh jeez... six years?

🍥 - What age were you when you created the OC? Ah, about eleven years old!

for the kid five and parent siblings thing:

could you do something about one of the siblings (maybe klaus?) taking five shopping! i think it’d be a very chaotic experience 😌

Allison is normally the grocer in the family for many reasons. For one, Klaus would buy everything he landed his eyes on, Ben (sparrow) was a bit too angry with people even if they deserved it, Diego was a great grocer but he tended to be busy at times, Luther was also good at shopping and wouldn’t mind doing it but sometimes he wasn’t home, and Viktor was usually doing a lesson or had already shopped and Allison didn’t want to force it on him again. Everyone did their part in the house after all. This meant, however, that she was the one shopping with Five.

Normally, when one of the siblings shopped with Five, they came back ranting about the whole trip. Allison didn’t see what the problem was. Five wouldn’t be THAT bad to shop with. He was always saying he was grown. How annoying and chaotic could it be?

Unfortunately, as she’s going to find out, it was actually going to be a little bit different than what she imagined.

For one, Five ACTUALLY needed one of those child harnesses. Turns out he has a habit of just walking away from you without warning and scaring both himself AND you once he falls out of auto-pilot and realizes he’s alone. For two, he was like a kid in a candy store. He often grabbed stuff out of the blue, trying to see what they were, tossing them in the cart absentmindedly. It’s a habit, she knows, from his apocalypse days where he grabbed anything he could, stuffing it inside his wagon and dragging it along the wasteland’s streets. This, however, was NOT the apocalypse and Allison had to put back a million cans (exaggeration, maybe) of food and other items, explaining to a very slightly out of it Five (Luther had dumped their brother on her when he was STILL sleeping which, in hindsight, was probably not a good idea when five woke up in the car nearly screaming and was still not awake enough to realize he was in the real world) that this wasn’t the apocalypse, he didn’t need to get all this food, it wouldn’t go bad and would still be there when they went shopping again.

None of these actions were bad, however, and Allison didn’t mind being her brother’s keeper. It taught her how to be more patient, anyway.

Every few minutes, Five would grab her wrist, fingers sliding across her pulse.

Every few minutes, he’d sidle up close to her, and mumble that she was warm, and that was funny, because dead people aren’t warm.

Every few minutes, Allison noticed Five grabbing her hand, letting her hold his, squeezing it.

Shopping was good. Great even. It was a little sad, and it was a little hard to manage, but Allison loved it. She loved hanging out with her siblings, enjoyed spending time together with a brother she never knew after the age of thirteen, was happily—

“Oh my god, Five, get DOWN!”

Or well, she WAS, until her pint sized brother was climbing the shelves and was now on the top row, legs dangling from the ledge, the very SHARP ledge, the harness leash that lead from his body to her hand was hanging limply in the air because Allison assumed that, since Five started holding her hand, he wouldn’t go wander off.

She was wrong.

Five frowned at her, standing up on his two feet. He peered down, then took a step back and shook his head until he looked like a bobble head.

Allison’s stomach twisted at the reminder.

Five hated heights. Something to do about their father, and training, and rooftops. He might have gotten over the fear in the apocalypse, because he HAD to, but he’s tired, and in a body that hasn’t gone through the even worse effects of the apocalypse (the doctor says he has asthma, that his skin is sensitive, as if it had been burned, that his eyesight has deteriorated, that his hearing is a bit off, that he can’t walk too well, run too fast, somehow his leg broke a few times? He had to stave off an infection? Cut off his own fingers? Allison didn’t want to hear more), and now he doesn’t want to get down the shelf he climbed because it was much too high and he was terrified of using his powers out of the mindset that he would disappear all over again.

Allison breathed.

Held her arms out.

“Hey… hey, I need you to use your powers, okay? Just your teleporting. Nothing else. You can do that. You’ve always been good at that.”

Five gives her a look. As if to say he’s NEVER been good at that. The evidence is his body, the apocalypse, Allison keeps telling him to, because if she doesn’t, Five will stay up there, shaking like a leaf because he’s under the air vents, and close to screaming his head off. He still looks like he’s half asleep.

But, he does curl his hands into fists, uncurls them quickly when he sees flickering blue light.

“Just teleporting.”

Five blinks at her.

“You can do that. Remember when you kept teleporting in front of us during training? The race exercise.”

His face scrunches up. His hands glow blue.

A few seconds of silence go by, and then a whoosh that startled Allison enough that she almost didn’t catch Five who practically latched onto her like a koala. Right. She’s warm. Like a living, breathing, human.

“You’re okay,” she mumbles, because Five is still in the apocalypse, and those shelves he climbed were probably broken buildings and hazardous rubble, and Allison was probably just a figment of his imagination, telling him to use his powers, to get out of this situation before he died there, cold and lonely.

“You’re okay, I promise.”

The Hargreeves siblings as middle school teachers:

Luther teaches Home Ec. He’s not a great speaker and can be very disorganized. But he takes a lot of pride in things like baking an egg casserole or fixing the buttons on a shirt. And he’s super proud of his students every time they demonstrate a new skill. He’s also the first teacher to give up his plan if the building needs a sub. And if a student invites him to an event, he goes. It’s very important to him that his students feel like they matter.

Diego’s a gym teacher, coaching sports after school. He yells and makes a lot of aggressive hand motions. Some of the students are afraid of them. Things turn around after his team wins their first game and students catch his victory dance. Suddenly, everyone knows he can dance, and students who were afraid of him are begging him to show them some moves in the gym. Diego pretends it’s no big deal but secretly loves the attention.

I’m not sure what subject Allison would teach. I see her being a good speaker, organized, and well-prepared. I’m thinking English/drama, but she could probably teach any subject. She takes pride in her job, but when the bell rings, she’s out that door and doing her own thing. She keeps her personal life and work life separated. Because of this, she doesn’t coach or host any clubs. I can also see her and Klaus (if they share a lunch or plan) meeting up in their rooms and trash talking students and taking shots.

Klaus could probably bullshit his way through any subject. He’d be a GREAT sub, just staggering into a teacherless classroom after the bell, having no idea what the plans are or what he’s even subbing, and the students are just transfixed on this charismatic disaster of a man, because they have no idea what he’s going to do or say, but they know damn well it’s going to be entertaining af. Klaus would also direct the school plays, but like in his usual haphazard way. Like he would forget to secure the rights to the scripts, so they end up throwing productions of “Dannie” and “The Wizard of Boz,” he’d always be late to rehearsals, then rehearsals would run late because he’s having too much fun. Before things completely fall apart, he’d run to Allison for help with the fall play, and every spring, he would at least have Viktor involved in the musical. He and Diego have the worst teacher evaluations.

Let’s pretend Five’s teen body isn’t a problem. He teaches math. Like Allison, he’s super organized and prepared each day. He’s also a good speaker, as long as he’s doing the lesson. Like Diego, he can get frustrated with the students’ behavior or lack of understanding. I can also see him going “empty head, no thoughts” when a student does something spectacularly stupid, like drinking water from a repurposed bleach container or bringing a dead bird to class because “I’m going to Frankenstein this bitch.” His rapport with the students isn’t great. He seems like the job would exhaust him. He’ll go to Klaus’s room after a bad day for some booze and emotional support.

Sparrow Ben is organized, prepared, a good speaker, and super competitive. Idk why, I see him teaching social studies/history/government, that kind of thing. Students love him or hate him. A lot crush on him because of how ripped and impeccably dressed he is. He would definitely have favorites. The favorites would tell him he’s their favorite teacher, and in return, he would give them better grades and let them skip other teachers’ classes by hanging in his room. He absolutely REFUSES to sub or cover for other teachers, because that’s a them problem, not his problem. He coaches baseball in the fall and track in the spring. He has new assistant coaches every season because he’s notoriously difficult to work with. Both he and Diego will argue with refs. But Diego would throw hands with rude-ass parents of the opposing team, and Ben would stay out of it.

Viktor teaches band, obviously. Like Luther, he’s not a great speaker, but he’s pretty organized and has better rapport with the students than Five or Sparrow Ben. I feel like Viktor would take time to get to know his students, even listening to their difficulties outside of his classroom, and offering advice when he can. Viktor is especially patient with students with low self-esteem, and students who don’t fit in with the others. Like Luther, he wants every student to feel valued in his room. Also like Luther, he can get too invested in his students and bring that shit home with him.

Overall executive functioning, emotional control, social skills, adaptability, and empathy:

Luther. Mid to high executive functioning. High emotional control. Low social skills. Low adaptability. High empathy.

The Kugelblitz makes no sense

aka, Explaining how the Grandfather Paradox should have worked, and the ways it doesn't.

This is the tl;dr, for a full explanation, it's under the cut:

Now, I will try to keep things clear cut and explain anything that is less than, as well as keeping a somewhat intriguing writing style to attempt to keep you engaged. I will waffle on. You'll get used to it. And now, to start talking about the thing you actually want to hear:

Now you're probably looking here because you looked at my pin board and thought one of several things:

- Is this man insane?

- How long did that take you wtf??

- Can you explain that?

And to that, I can firmly answer two. It took me 4 hours with soft-tissue damage and yes I can explain it. As for the first question, I will leave you to decide.

As I hope you know, the Grandfather Paradox is one of the main plot themes in series 3. However, the explanation of it makes absolutely, completely and utterly, no sense. If you're a casual viewer, you probably haven't even thought twice about it, but if you're anything like me, and you sit and think about the timeline for hours at a time, and spend a healthy amount of time thinking about the solution of the paradox's solution, the Kugelblitz, I'm sorry to say, is just wrong.

So what does this mean in terms of TUA?

To start off, I will give you, directly the solution to the Grandfather Paradox:

"At the time that movie was made in 1985, the 'parallel world' explanation of the grandfather paradox was merely a philosophical conjecture. In 1991, however, it was put on firmer ground by the physicist David Deutsch. Deutsch showed that, while parallel timelines are normally incapable of interacting with each other, the situation changes in the vicinity of a closed time-like curve (CTC), when a wormhole curves back on itself. Here, just as the sci-fi writers imagined, the different timelines are able to cross over — so that when a CTC loops back into the past, it's the past of a different timeline. If that's proven, then you really could kill an infant grandparent without paradoxically eliminating yourself in the process. In that case, your grandfather would never have existed only in one parallel world. And you, the grandfather-killer, would only have existed in the other."

Well, it means that there is 2 (and a bit) timelines, to which I have affectionately nicknamed the Umbrella timeline (season 1) and the Sparrow timeline (season 2 and 3). We know the Sparrow timeline is separate to the Umbrella timeline because it it mentioned a few times through series 3 that it is a different one.

You see, I firmly believe that when the Umbrellas time travelled back to Dallas in the 1960s and onwards, they managed to cause the CTC as described above, and go back in time into the Sparrow timeline.

This is where the show would believe that the actual grandfather paradox happened when Harlan started killing the mothers of the other 27 children before the time where the sparrows and the other 9 kids were born. This would imply that the Umbrellas went back in time to the Umbrella timeline, and Harlan still got the powers but didn't accidentally kill the mothers. This doesn't work at all.

We know that The Kennedy Six doesn't exist in anything but the Sparrow timeline, and in the Umbrella timeline, it is (largely) history as we know it. This is the problem. If the Grandfather Paradox doesn't start before Haran gets his powers, that means the Kennedy Six would have to exist also in the Umbrella timeline, which they don't, which causes all sorts of problems.

And here's where I propose a solution.

The Sparrow timeline splits off on February 11th 1960, aka the day Klaus and umbrella!Ben arrive in Dallas, due to this being the first instance of them travelling back in time to this separate timeline as the Grandfather Paradox's solution would suggest. The Sparrow timeline stems off to contain the changed history of the Umbrella timeline, and it also allows the Umbrellas to exist in the Sparrow timeline, where they were never born in the first place.

The one main question you may have now is, well if all of this is the case, then why didn't the Kugelblitz form in Dallas? Well I have an explanation for you on that too. To put it simply, there was already an apocalypse coming in Dallas, and there was no need for the Kugelblitz so come in and destroy the world for it. And then, once the Umbrellas left Dallas, nothing was in that timeline to disrupt the flow of it (I'll explain Harlan in a moment) for the next 56 years, so the Kugelblitz wouldn't need to form due to the peace of space time.

Harlan is okay to exist the way he does because, while he is an anomaly compared to the Umbrella timeline, he works in the Sparrow timeline because that's how their history flows.

So, the disrupt in space time and the trigger of the Kugelblitz stems from the Umbrellas going into the Sparrow timeline, where they don't exist. This is where the Kugelblitz becomes the problem child, because to my understanding of the Grandfather Paradox, because the Umbrellas exist in the Umbrella timeline leading to them having a stable form of existence, just elsewhere, they should be fine to be in the Sparrow timeline and co-exist with the Sparrows.

So yes, that is my problem with the Kugelblitz, sorry for ruining your fun with the show, trust me, it frustrates me too, but I genuinely don't understand how the Grandfather paradox can cause the Kugelblitz when it's largely solved itself.

To that I pose the question to the rest of you tua!Tumblr, what the hell do you think happened?

(I am also ignoring the new new timeline from the end of season 3 until season 4 gives us more content to work with because I don't even want to begin thinking about that one.)

ALSO WHEN WHOEVER BE WRITING ARTICLES SAID PRANKD WHEN THEY SAID THAT SISSY AND RAY WERENT GOING TO BE IN SEASON THREE Seeing Ray cured me

Uhh wtf else was I gonna say uh Lila having her whole moment about being scared she’s going to be her mum when I’ve been working on my Nathan fic for months where he has a panic attack about being scared he’s gonna be his dad

I be getting distracted when I see stuff that reminds me of my own writing or characters

Anyways Allison was scaring me

OH I loved Sloane 😭😭😭😭 I haven’t looked at enough opinions to know if she’s going to be hated or not (I know the general weirdness of the situation of her and Luther’s relationship is going to be an issue for a lot of people but oh well)

I didn’t expect the sparrows to just Die Like That but I guess I kind of did

At one point I went, “uh oh Luther and Sloane are giving me major Romeo and Juliet vibes, are they gonna die? Maybe… but I don’t think they’d kill Luther” A N D T H E N

And then Klaus fucking evaporated right after that and I was like

I am Unwell

But then they were just chillin so it was okay. Like what kinda whiplash hurt/comfort bullshit, I teared up over Luther and then the writers said “they are just vibing”

OH I WAS REALLY UNWELL WHEN THOSE FUCKING ROACHES CRAWLED OUT THAT GUY’S FACE TALK ABOUT UNNECESSARY

I also think the random Ben on the bus was OG Ben just because I feel like thinking that

I feel like I got more questions than answers, but it was entertaining

Oh also i went “everybody fuckin except for Allison” and then she went “I heard a rumor you want me” and I was like NOT LIKE THIS… I have a lot of feelings about that scene, but I feel uncomfortable talking about it, so I’m not going to.

This season also felt so much more sci fi and weird, and that’s why I liked the comics more, so I was really excited to see those elements.

I’m really fuckin tired. But like that season was really good. I’m really impressed.

I remember starting this blog around one and a half years ago with about 300 followers. I began to share my obsession with fictional characters with you, unbeknownst to what would happen and now... now I have 8500+ followers who laugh, cry, discuss and fangirl with me. This is absolutely insane.

Every day, I put a lot of work, effort and time into the posts I share with you guys for free and of course, I am determined that any kind of content I create will remain so. Okay so, I got this ask about what I thought the hargreeves kids would wear for Halloween and I somehow accidentally deleted it😂 luckily I took a screenshot when I first saw it. But anon if you see this, sorry about that! And I hope you have a great weekend too <3

And no, I’ve never been asked this before, so it was pretty fun to think about!😂 Here are my thoughts:

Luther - An astronaut.

Diego - He’d be Batman, no doubt about it. In fact, he’s been preparing his costume for a whole YEAR and wouldn’t want anyone else to know that he was that excited.

Allison - She’d dress up as some historic actress she really admires. Or a current one. But it’d definitely be an actress.

Klaus - A pirate. Y’know now that I think about it Robert Sheehan gives me jack sparrow vibes🤔

Five - I think he’d wear a lab coat and go as a scientist. Or as some sort of sci-fi character.

Ben - A book character

Vanya - I think that she’d dress up as first chair of the orchestra on their first show. Or she’d go as a member of the umbrella academy.

Amit idáig láttunk, az a nyolcvanas évek szemlélete, a nyolcvanas években szocializálódott katonák kívánságlistájának a teljesítése, amivel nagyszerűen lehetne megvívni a nyolcvanas évek háborúit.

Harckocsik: legutoljára két hónapja Örményországban lehetett látni, hogy a harckocsik mennyire szart sem érnek, az azeriek legalább 150 örmény T-72-est lőttek ki, túlnyomórészt olyan fegyverekkel, amik a Leopard 2-esek ellen pont ugyanolyan ütőképesek. Magyarország 44 verdát rendszeresít, ez kb. harmada-negyede az örmény veszteségeknek. Itt jegyezném meg, hogy a Leopardok önerőből nem tudnak átkelni sem a Dunán, sem a Tiszán, azaz Magyarország területén könnyen elképzelhető olyan szituáció, hogy (a hidak lebombázásával) a harckocsik egyáltalán nem, vagy csak nagy kerülővel tudnak eljutni az ország egyik feléből a másikba. Alternatíva: ha le akarjuk váltani a T-72-eseket, akkor maximum használt nyugati harckocsik rendszeresítése lett volna ésszerű, M1, Merkava vagy az ideiglenesen hazánkban állomásozó régi Leopard 2 is reális alternatíva lett volna.

Lövészpáncélosok: erről a fegyverkategóriáról azt érdemes tudni, hogy ez a kategória már akkor sem teljesített jól, amikor a harckocsik igen (a rendszerváltás előtti helyi háborúkban is sok baj volt velük). A Lynx nem úszóképes (az elődje, a BTR-80 az), az újonnan beszerzendő KC-390-eseken nem szállítható (a BTR igen). Alternatíva: egyértelműen a BTR-ek ráncfelvarrása, ha már ez van.

PZH-2000: középtávon az önjáró tarackoknak van létjogosultsága, és a PZH-2000 kétségtelenül nagyon potens fegyver (drónos célmegjelöléssel és irányított lőszerekkel, például). Ő sem úszóképes. Alternatíva: nagy kár, hogy 20 évvel ezelőtt kivontuk az (szovjet) 2Sz1 (csak 122 mm-es) önjáró tarackjainkat, nagy kihívás lett volna ezekből 21. századi fegyverrendszert csinálni. De nem lehetetlen. Persze emellett ott van a selejtben olcsón megszerezhető amerikai M109 Paladin.

NASAMS: fiúk, ezt hogy találtátok ki, persze úgy, hogy ez az a fostalicska szar, amitől a Putyin nem sértődik meg. A nyugati stílusú harcászatban tulajdonképpen el lehet vegetálni nagy légvédelmi rakéták nélkül, különösen kis országok esetében (a légvédelmi rakéta egy kizárólag egy feladatra alkalmazható fegyverfajta, luxus). Erre megvesszük. Aszongya, ez szárazföldi indítású AMRAAM. Magyarra lefordítva, ha az AMRAAM-ot egy Gripenre raknád, akkor ott lenne az ország bármely pontján 15 percen belül, ehelyett teszel alá félmobil indítóberendezést, és ezzel eléred azt, hogy ne tudd ugyanazt a rakétát mozgatni, igazi magyar virtus. A slusszpoén: egy ideig lehetett abban reménykedni, hogy a rakétát valahogyan függeszteni lehet a Gripen alá, de nem, mert ez, ha minden igaz, NASAMS-ER, aminek az elfogója nem is AMRAAM, hanem Sea Sparrow, amire rátettek egy AMRAAM önirányító fejet. Nagyszerű, erre sem jó. Alternatívák: nyilvánvalóan a Patriot, ha már. Az alkalmazható pl. ballisztikus rakéták ellen is.

EC725 Caracal: ésszerűen két helikopterben volt értelme gondolkodni, “a régiben”, a Mi-8/Mi-17-ben, ami korszerűsítésekkel nagyon sokáig továbbéltethető, a környéken több helyen van -az oroszoktól független- javítóbázisa, és “az újban”, az UH-60-ban, ami a Mi-8-nál egy generációval újabb, a NATO alaphelikoptere és ezt rendszeresítette Lengyelország és Szlovákia is. Persze a harmadik, még épphogy értelmes választásnak mondható típus, a francia Puma futott be. Ez még egy védhetőnek számító beszerzés.

H145: Én őszintén megvallva nem értem, mit fog ez a 20 forgószárnyas csinálni, remélem van, aki igen.

KC-390: anno kínomban röhögtem fel, amikor a szocialisták félig komolyan bejelentették, hogy venni akarnak két An-70-est. Annak a típusnak a mai napig egyetlen egy prototípusa van. A KC-390 ennél azért szerencsésebb csillagzat alatt született, de még mindig egy, a pályafutása elején járó gép, aminek nem derültek ki az erős és a gyenge oldalai, a rendszeresítésével meglehetős kockázatot vállalunk. Ha szerencsénk lesz, lesz egy egész jó kis gépünk, igaz, csak két példányban, bár ezzel a teljes leszerződött darabszám 5%-a magyar gép lesz (olyan kis példányszámban tervezik gyártani). Alkatrészellátás-vonalon jelentős többletköltségeket fog ez jelenteni. Alternatívák: vagy 25 éve megkínáltak minket négy C-130B Herculessel, nem kellett (újabb An-26-osokat vettünk ehelyett), a románok azóta is vígan használják azt a négy gépet, mi az An-26-osokat már selejteztük. Egyáltalán nem kizárt, hogy a KC-390-esek selejtezésekor a Herculesek még repdesni fognak.

BREN-2 gépkarabély: hát ezt meg hogy találtátok ki, fiúk. A honvédségnél ott van az elnyűhetetlen Kalasnyikov, e mellé rendszeresítették, főleg a különlegeseknél az M4-et, most hurrá, lesz egy harmadik alapfegyver is, ami semmivel nem lesz kompatibilis, és jó esély van rá, hogy félbe marad a rendszeresítése, gratulálok. Alternatívák: nem kellett volna nyüzsögni.

Különféle kormánygépek: ha nem is ennyi, de kellene, csak a kormánygépet nevezhetnék kormánygépnek is, csak a sport kedvéért.

Mi-24 korszerűsítése: célanyagnak kitűnő, csak, hogy legyen min bosszankodni, elmondanám, hogy 2005 magasságában a hollandok felajánlottak talán 6 AH-64-est, na, az harci helikopter.

Sokat mondó, hogy ebben a pénzáradatban mi az, amit elfelejtettek megvenni.

Drónok: most ott tartunk, hogy nemcsak a hadseregeknek, de most már mindenféle zűrzavaros hátterű szerveteknek (Hezbollah) is vannak drónjaik, Magyarországnak természetesen nincsen, mert a kishitler egyik barátja sem gyárt (oh wait, Erdoganék mégis) drónt. Már annyira mindenki tud ilyet gyártani, nem is beszerezni, hogy ez lassan már a múlt lesz.

Rádióelektronikai harci eszközök: zavaróadók és társaik: Az utóbbi húsz évben mi az ilyen alakulatokat inkább megszűntettük, mint létrehoztuk volna.

Irányított fegyverek: hurrá, a Gripeneknek már van lézerirányítású bombája, már csak néhány fegyverkategória hiányzik, a kis robotrepülőgépektől az irányított tüzérségi lövedékeken át a (pl. sorozatvetőből indított) kisebb ballisztikus rakétákig, és ezt lehetne folytatni.

Vadászgépek: nyilván túl sok mindenre használhatóak, ezért nem vásárlunk véletlenül sem. Nagyon jó, hogy van 14 Gripenünk, ez a minimálisan elégséges darabszám fele-negyede

Műholdak: ez a magyar fejeknek persze bőven sci-fi, de azért itt jegyezném meg, hogy egy műholdindítás ma cca 60 M$, többször használatos rakétával ennek usque a fele, az nagyságrendileg 10 milliárd forint. Ennyibe fáj, most csak a példa kedvéért, a Diósgyőri vár továbbépítése. Egy kisebb optikai felderítő hold fejlesztése már bőven milliárd dolláros tétel lenne, bár nem kizárt, hogy ebből is van készen elérhető. Ha annyira fontos a szuverenitás, akkor nem hátrány, hogy a piacon egyébként elérhető -adott esetben jó minőségű- műholdfeleket egy saját hold adataival leellenőrizzük, hogy nem akarnak-e minket megvezetni. És a többi.

Thoughts On The Sparrow Academy’s Powers

because oh boy do i have MANY thoughts

Number 1 - Marcus: Marcus is described as ‘charming, chiselled and colossus’, as well as ‘keeping the family together’ and being ‘a natural leader who oozes confidence’. They seem to be leaning pretty hard into the Luther parallel, which suggests he likely has a similar power. In the comics, the sparrows’ number 1 has super strength, just like Luther, so i think Marcus either has that or has some form of super resistance like Luther has also demonstrated.

Number 2 - Ben: Ben is an interesting case because he may just have the same power. However, his character description is decidedly far from umbrella!Ben’s personality, as well as being a fairly good parallel to Diego. I think it would be interesting if he has Diego’s breath-holding power from the comics, as it would be in-keeping with him being number 2, as well as being somewhat fitting when compared to umbrella!Ben’s power.

Number 3 - Fei: Fei is described as ‘seeing the world in a special way’ which is intriguing as fuck. My best guess is she can give people visions, Scarlet Witch-style. This would be a fitting parallel to Allison’s rumours, although it’s overpowered as all hell.

Number 4 - Alphonso: Alphonso is described as ‘bearing his scars from years of crime fighting’, which sounds very Diego-ish tbh. In the comics, one of the sparrows can apparently ‘release blasts from their face’ which makes sense with the scar thing. It would also be a good parallel to Klaus, with them both having powers that would really fuck them up with consistent use. I also think Alphonso might be blind (likely because of this power) but i’ll get back to that.

Number 5 - Sloane: Sloane is described as ‘a romantic and a dreamer’ who is ‘eager to see the world and experience life outside her upbringing’ which says to me that she maybe wants to distance herself from the academy and possibly her power. In the comics, one of the sparrows (’Carla’) can heal injuries in some way, which i think would fit Sloane quite well. I’ve seen some people say Carla specifically can transfer injuries from one person to another, which I personally find really interesting. It would be a nice parallel to five, if she can ‘teleport’ injuries (ok i know its a stretch but just go with it). Also, if her power is quite literally injuring people, it would make sense for her to want to get away from the academy and maybe find a way to help people that doesn’t hurt others.

Number 6 - Jayme: My favourite sparrow! Jayme is described as ‘a loner under a hoodie’, who ‘has a fear-inducing snarl you’ll want to avoid at all costs’. To me, this suggests she has some sort of Medusa-esque power where if someone looks her in the eye they are maybe paralyzed (given the phrase ‘paralyzed with fear’). This would be a nice parallel to Ben, since they would both have powers inspired by mythos. In one of the leaked posters for s3, we see the silhouettes of the sparrows with dots for eyes, and one of them has a red line across their eyes instead, which looks like some sort of mask. This would make sense to be Jayme. This also brings me back to Alphonso; unfortunately i can’t find a source, but i remember reading that he’s Jayme’s ‘only friend’ or something along those lines. If i’m correct about their powers, it would make sense that he would be blind.

Number 7 - Christopher: Since we already know Christopher’s powers (’telekinetic’, and ‘can turn the room freezing cold and induce paralyzing fear’), i’m going to propose another theory: he isn’t one of the 43. He’s said to be ‘of unknown origin’ which suggests his origin is a plot point of some sort; if he was one of the 43, why say that? Furthermore, if i’m correct about the others’ powers, Christopher just seems to have a combination of Fei and Jayme’s. Given what we know about Reginald, i think it’s possible one of the sparrows died before the kids were old enough to fight real crime. Reggie, being the insane person alien he is, maybe tried to replace the dead sparrow (presumably number 7) with a robot of some sort (after all, he did the same with the nannies). Maybe he took dna from some of the others and suspended it ‘psykronium’, creating Christopher. Yeah, this is a bit of a crack theory but i didn’t know what else to put here and it’s in character for Mr. Veggie to do something like this.

BONUS - The Etymology of ‘Psykronium’: I assumed it was a pre-established sci-fi thing but apparently not so i did some digging. ‘Psy’ seems to come from the prefix ‘psych’, which is of greek origin and means ‘mind’. ‘kron’ likely comes from the greek ‘kronos’, meaning ‘time’. and ‘ium’ is a suffiix that comes from latin and generally refers to a metallic element or biological structure. so ‘psykronium’ literally means ‘mind time substance’. do with that what you will.

How tua tv show ruined hotel oblivion

Before I say anything: THIS IS IN NO WAY AN ATTACK TOWARDS ANYONE YOU ARE 100% FREE TO ENJOY WHATEVER CONTENT YOU WANT THIS IS JUST MY OPINION AND YOU ARE FREE TO DISAGREE (just don’t be an asshole abt and we’re good) also SPOILERS!!! for both tv show and comics

(a while back I saw a post by @fivehargreeves and i have since then been putting off this post bc i want to elaborate on it but i am too lazy and i know i never really post stuff here but this is something i feel really strongly abt especially after that s2 finale)

When I first read the umbrella academy comics one of the things I loved the most about was the world building. It was so crazy and weird (in a good way) and while I still loved the story and characters, for me the most fascinating part of them was the world. It was a world so much like ours, yet completely different and the little details in the background or those offhand mentions of aliens or other "weird" stuff made the tua world feel more alive and interesting. So obviously when n*tflix announced they were adapting the comics into a show i was thrilled. But when I watched it I was... disappointed to say the least :/

Ex. 1 The Umbrella Academy's debut- In the comics, the first time the world met the umbrella academy was when "the day Eiffel Tower went berserk" (literally)

It turns out the Eiffel Tower had been a spaceship all along establishing the first villain in the comics: Zombie Robot Gustave Eiffel. But the innthe tv show we get.... a bank robbery 😐 (not as impressive as the Eiffel Tower imo) THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SUPERHEROES FOR GODS SAKE! Why are they fighting petty crime? Let them fight the Eiffel Tower you cowards!!!

Ex. 2 The Orchestra Verdammten- (@/fivehargreeves post talks specifically abt this issue and summarizes most of my thoughts so i will say very little on this point) In the comics the main antagonist for vol.1 was an orchestra made up of musicians who had gone crazy (for one reason or another) and gone missing after joining the Orchestra Verdammten. But once again the villain is replaced with something very common and might I say mediocre. This as we will see is a running thing in the show: make most of the elements that made the comics stand out and replace them with more common/normal elements.

Ex. 3 Watering down/changing most characters' powers- Would you believe me if I told you it was Klaus that stopped the moon from colliding with earth? No you wouldn’t because in the tv show his powers are so... useless. And he was not the only one who’s powers got watered down (even though he is one of the most notable examples)

Luther/Spaceboy: his powers remain the same (as far as we have seen) however I am detaching points bc i don’t like how his character arc was handled in the show

Diego/The Kraken: first of all WHY THE FUCK DO YOU THINK HES CALLED THE KRAKEN -A MARINE MONSTER- YOU IDIOTS???!!! but seriously, why did they ever think it was a good idea to ever change his powers? It takes away so much from his character! Diego’s power is breathing underwater not whatever object manipulation bullshit they gave him in the show. His powers have NOTHING to do with knife throwing yet he is still as good at it in the comics as in the show; he got that good just from practice. He obsessive with his goals and we don’t get to see that in the show bc they completely changed his powers!!! They just took part of The Séance's and gave them to him! (@/fivehargreeves also has another post on this so go check it out bc it’s better worded than mine)

Allison/The Rumor: Oh my god I could talk about her all day and how dirty they did her in the tv show!!! In the comics Allison has the power to alter REALITY ITSELF

she manifested a whole ass statue to life! And in vol.2 (the Kennedy assassination one) she was the one that killed Kennedy! She made his head explode just by rumoring him. But noooooo they had to sideline her in s2 so they could pursue a side plot for 'wokeness points' (i am happy that they dealt with the racism she would most likely have faced in the 1960's BUT they took away ALL her protagonism in the comics and had her be a minor character) if it hadn’t been for Allison the world would have ended -> murdering Kennedy was the only way to save the world

Klaus/The Séance: ugh where do i start? Klaus is extremely powerful in the comics, like I said he was able to stop the moon from colliding with earth. Not only did they have his powers watered down, they also took away all his telekinetic abilities in the show. Also, the only way his powers can be blocked is when he’s wearing shoes not drugs (i also want to point out that the way his addiction is treated in the show is weird and sometimes even uncomfortable to me but that is another topic for another time). His ability to summon the dead are almost nothing like in the show as compared to the comics he is called The Séance you know but whatever where he not only does he speak TO the dead he can also MANIFEST them through him which was probably the most important factor in stopping Vanya/The White Violin in Apocalypse Suite + not giving him his EXTREMELY WELL DESERVED FAME!!! 😤 THE AUDACITY!!! (I have talked abt Klaus before on another post)

Number Five: I don’t have much to say about him except that he is a lot darker in the comics and not as loving about his family as they make him in the show *cough* shooting vanya in the head *cough* but for the most part.... he’s fine ig (my main problem is they make him idk? too playful(?) in s1 when he actually he is all dry humor and dark jokes)

Ben/The Horror: doesn’t really appear in the comics so nothing to say here

Vanya/The White Violin: not including her transformation in the show was cowardly and having her be manipulated by a man was uh kinda problematic if I may say so. We only ever see her use her powers in vol.1 since she was crippled by getting shot in the head at the end of it and hasn’t been able to do much since then. Her story has been completely changed in the show and i am still not completely sure i like it. Her dealing with trauma and coming to terms with her childhood are quickly brushed away and not really delved into as opposed to the comics where she is still trying to process it

Ex. 4 Technology- The World in the comics is a lot more sci-fi than in the show where it almost an exact copy of ours. For one: the chimpanzees. In the comics Pogo isn’t the only one, we can see a lot of others in the background

Also stuff like the televator or the hotel oblivion are never mentioned or alluded to in the show

Now to get to the main point of this post: IT IS IMPOSSIBLE AT THIS POINT THAT THE TV SHOW WILL BE ABLE TO FOLLOW HOTEL OBLIVION'S PLOT BECAUSE IT DEPENDS ON THERE BEING VILLAINS!!!

This are superhero comics! Maybe we don’t see them fighting all the villains that appear in hotel oblivion, but the fact is that they are there! They are part of the world and part of what makes it breathe and come alive on the pages. To paraphrase (albeit a VERY simplified paraphrase) Watchmen (don’t tell me it didn’t influence tua bc IT DID and i can prove it) 'if there are superheroes then there are villains' especially in a world where superpowers exist and technology is a lot more advanced than in watchmen where they were all normal people (with the exception of dr. manhattan). But by dumbing down the world in the show we are left with a flavorless setting that has no effect whatsoever on the plot (compared to the comics). Maybe some aspects like the Sparrow Academy will be included (I am kinda scared to think where they will go with it) but it won’t be Hotel Oblivion. In s1 I could point out where the comics had influenced the show, hell even in s2 you could see the comic's influence but... Hotel Oblivion? I don’t see any possibility of it getting to tv and that’s the truth
