Fish Bones are—hey! We’ve already talked about you, and very recently at that! We love you, Fish Bone, but it’s time to stop hogging the spotlight!

Name: Fishbone

Debut: Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards

There we go!

It’s that funky fresh time of year where all the strange Mario creatures retract into their holes to make way for other, stranger beasts, and boy is Fishbone strange!

Fishbones are the reanimated skeletons of dead fish, and golly, what a great skeleton to have! Just three boomerang-shaped bones and two hollow eye sockets. No spine, no discernable jaws of any kind, just pure, abject salminimalism! I bet you wouldn’t even know these were bones if I didn’t tell you, and yet they still manage to evoke a fish skeleton so well!

But whose skeletons ARE they? While we don’t have any direct confirmation, it feels pretty likely to me that we have the skeletons of dear old Floppers on our hands! There’s a common fish enemy in most Kirby games called Blippers, but Blippers are entirely absent from Kirby 64, and Floppers are a lot thinner and pointier than them anyhow!

But even with that in mind…wow! This still only barely looks like it could be in a Flopper. Just a wonderfully abstract skeletal structure all around. And it only gets weirder from here!

There’s a reason for the peculiar shape of Fishbone’s head! Rather than hop or jump around like most water-based enemies, they shoot their skulls at Kirby for damage! (Don’t worry, it grows back!) Why, you may ask? Well, they provide the Cutter ability, which in Kirby 64 looks like this!:

Most underwater enemies in Kirby don’t give abilities, since Kirby typically can’t inhale while in water (understandable!). He can do this in Kirby 64, though! With them shooting their heads to attack and being fairly common, this makes Fishbones the most Cutterest enemy in the whole game, even more Cuttery than Sir Kibble himself!

They are, in fact, SO Cuttery that Miracle Matter’s embodiment of said ability looks a lot like Fishbones!

They STILL couldn’t get enough of Fishbone, though! If you inhale and carry it over your head, you can shoot its skulls yourself! Due to the way Cutter works, this is actually MORE ideal to use when you’re underwater, since using the ability makes Kirby sink!

Sadly, they reverted how Cutter works after this, and with Kirby going right back to spitting bubbles underwater, Fishbones didn’t stand a chance ): Despite its awesome design, it just joined the foray of thousands of other Kirby 64 enemies to never see the light of day again.

But who knows? Maybe it will appear in a future game, just like beloved Plugg, and grant the Cutter ability once more! After all, the Kirby franchise has finally started begrudgingly acknowledging that Kirby 64 did, in fact, exist.

And I think that any enemy that can say they could be combined with Ghost Knight to inexplicably let Kirby create a giant toothy maw out of his arms, deserves a second chance. :)

Before you ask, no, there’s no way Fishbones could come from the only OTHER bony fish in Kirby 64, Blowfish, either. As for why, let’s take a gander at the scrapped enemy Blowfishbone herself!

Hey crew. I've been hearing some scuttlebutt around the deck that people are starting to worry again about whether or not s3 is going to happen. The love notes section is already pretty long so I'm not gonna go too crazy up here too -- instead I'm going to just point out that David Jenkins, while not active and posting things for us right now, is sneakily poking around in Samba and Rhys' BTS comments. He's still there, he's still watching, and I think he can tell we're all feeling the high from Samba's releases. Don't give up hope, these things take time. They're gonna get there. I'm gonna add the trends to this section today because I think it's important to see what we did today:

Hey Lovelies. I know I've said it before, but it bares repeating since I know a lot of you are struggling right now.

Just a gentle reminder that if your brain is telling you that there's something wrong with you, or that you've done something wrong or embarrassing -- it's lying to you.

There's been so much dopamine from all the excitement lately with the BTS, that it has to come down at some point, and when it does, your brain will sometimes over-compensate and you start feeling maybe worse than you did before.

This is totally normal, it really is. Our brains are glorious complex pathways of unmeasurable brilliance, and yet a simple hormone change can make that same brain tell us that we're not enough, or we're not worthy.

I am here to remind you, you are so very much enough.

No matter what is happening in your life-- in your job, in your personal relationships, in your family, in your school, anywhere--

YOU ARE ENOUGH, EXACTLY HOW YOU ARE.

If you feel like you've failed, or you've let someone down, just know you are STILL enough. We all fail, it's how we learn.

We pick ourselves back up and we try again, and if we fail again--

We're STILL enough, and we are still worthy of love and comfort.

Eventually you will succeed. You will get there, and all the while while you work on it, YOU. ARE. ENOUGH.

I know it's so hard to see when you're feeling small, but I see you all every day, and I am awe-struck at your constant ability to band together and not only find love and support, but give it so freely and lovingly.

WOW Long time I didn't do a weird crossover!! :D (like 5min)

I inspired myself from @starkkawajiri Genshin x Marvel Doc Strange variant! I love the idea of Aggravate reaction for a Supreme Strange Variant in genshin :))) Don't forget to follow their works! Their design and Lore idea are awesome!!! 👀(the other Strange here is their Variant btw)

[Spoiler] In 4.2 Main quest we learned than gnosis are cursed energy so... What if this version of Stephen used the electro gnosis plus his dendro vision to resurrect his Christine? 🤔 (Spoiler it didn't work) Searching to use archon's power he cursed himself and turn into an half dragon something like this? If gnosis are dragon's energy 🙌 Of course he distroyed a whole island/country and stole a gnosis so the gods trapped him to punish him.

Dendro and Electro Catalyst so? I design him a signature weapon as a cursed and not cursed Agamoto's eye. I still didn't have idea for his whole kit but maybe something around aggravate reaction 🤷‍♀️

I was interviewed on Storyteller Conclave!

You’ve probably seen several posts on here about how I’m going to be on Storyteller Conclave talking about Eureka. If you haven’t, you’re going to, because there’s still some in the queue and I’m not going to remove them.

But, that happened, and it was a great time! You can listen to the episode here, here, here, or here!

I wasn’t on my A-game the whole time unfortunately, I had some mic trouble for about the first 20 minutes, along with some other distractions on my end that kept me from focusing early on, but luckily I had team member @ashweather to support me and help me out.

If you can bear with the rocky start, there’s a lot of good insight into the design of Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy in this podcast, and a lot of it goes into stuff that we haven’t really covered on this blog, especially the themes.

We talk about the realistic and simulationist nature of Eureka and how this serves its gameplay and themes, we talk about how it takes inspiration from John Woo films such as Hard Boiled, its pretty unique approach to the concept of HP, how it approaches and flips the concept of "winning", and its deeply character-driven nature.

Of course we also talk about Eureka's unique and awesome rules for investigative gameplay, and how it improves upon games that did investigative gameplay before it. How it trusts the players' intellect, but also won't leave them totally twisting in the wind after a bad roll or two!

My favorite thing we talked about, near the end of the show, was Eureka’s approach to monsters, disability, and its sympathy towards “bad people.” I’m actually going to be writing a whole essay on this topic hopefully before the Kickstarter ends on May 10th, but you can get a really good gist of it just from listening to this episode of the podcast.

Oh and on that subject, the hosts, two veteran Vampire: The Masquerade players, said in the show that in many ways, Eureka does vampires better than VTM. Like, wow, that’s high praise..

I love this fic. I have read this thing so many times. I love the intimacy and how they develop organically. How Cas just takes why Dean gives and it’s how it should be in my head. It’s sweet and fluffy. I wish Dean would stop calling Cas “pal” as if he’s fucking Mickey Mouse and Pluto but it’s amazing. I return to it a lot. It’s a comforting story that deals with mental health and I’m glad it’s set in heaven.

I absolutely love this fic because I actually sleep with a weighted blanket and when my kids are sick, they love their own. I even have one in the car. It’s light but enough to feel it. This is just so fluffy and romantic all thanks to our favorite redhead introducing weighted blankets which helps so much. It’s been shown to even help babies but blankets aren’t great for them. Anyway, they’re so cute and that scene where Dean opens his eyes all slow and gentle with “hey”, just broke me. My husband and I do that periodically and it just means more snuggles and sleep. lol. Poor Castiel thinking he couldn’t have Dean which I understand since Dean has said so much he is straight or implied it rather often. Ugh. This was done so well. Thank you both!

When There's Only You by AnOddSock (AO3)

It's such a visceral and extremely well-written story, dark and full of intense angst but at the same time it highlights that profound tenderness and affection between Sam and Dean. The whole "there is no me if there is no you". I was on the edge of my seat all the way through, my heart breaking for the brothers in such a delightful way. This fic is a great rollercoaster ride, like a dark porn with a substantial amount of well-thought-out plot. Heed the tags though... Your feels might not come out intact.

This is @Aylacavebear's first fic she's putting out into the wild and it's going to be a long multi-chapter journey. What a way to start! This first chapter takes us to poor Maria as a child, who has just lost her mother to a yellow-eyed demon, and Bobby sets her and her Dad up with Sam and Dean. Can't wait to see the whole journey!

Fluffy Faerie Tales (series) by @ladylilithprime

This universe and the characters in it are so fascinating! Sam and Dean are half-fae, and Jimmy and Cas have a backstory that is wildly different than anything else I've ever read! (No spoilers!) Sam/Cas/Jimmy is a threesome I've never read before, I don't think, and I'm loving it. So far, all of these stories are filled with plenty of fluff, and the perfect way to end my day. Sweet dreams of faeries and friends are always welcome!

I rewatched Trolls Band Together, the movie still holds up really well, it's a nicely constructed story without too many clunker jokes and the character beats are all amazing imo.

Branch: Literally never takes off the vest.

Not a huge fan of the pink eye visual, but I love the design of these chars and seeing Bruce's kids touch their eyes setting up the ending joke.

Viva time! Her design is awesome and they really do a nice job threading the characterization of her (and Poppy) so that they come off endearing rather than overbearing.

This song slaps, Camila and Anna's voices mesh together so nicely and the Brozone brodown breakdown is a good changeup (while foreshadowing John Dory's overbearing nature coming back).

Viva's reveal of not wanting to let Poppy (or any trolls) leave is handled really delicately here. She doesn't even lock Poppy in anywhere, or try to keep her from anyone, she just tells her she can't leave and shuts the gate. She doesn't even physically restrain her when she goes even though as a char she does a lot of physical feats. It's nice because it doesn't overshadow the character moment of how traumatized she is from the Bergen attack. And Poppy ends the scene still trying to reach out emotionally (this will be important later!)

She literally starts panicking after taking 3 steps out of the gate. Nice shot with the shadow creating the border between the outer world and Viva's sanctuary.

Rageous cutaway. Love their designs btw. Pictured above is Vaneer resisting his Spider-Man origin moment. Also there's some theming with Floyd relaying some advice for dealing with overbearing siblings.

Cutting back to the Broz! This is my favourite bit of the whole movie outside of the finale. Everything comes to a head, the other brothers' resentment of John Dory, how they all treat Branch like he's still a baby, his bunker (which is a direct influence on why he turned out how he did). It's genuinely sad how Branch is rejected by his family, and how he tries to shut out Poppy because of how low it brings him. Basically, he tries to revert back to his loner status of the first movie (WOW!) But Poppy reaches out to him, engages genuinely with his emotional state and reassures him that she's there for him. It's really sweet!

The Brozone argument also contrasts really well with the Viva scene where she instantly assumed she was going to be with her sister for life while the brothers are all waiting to return to their regular lives without each other.

Floyd immediately recognizes how much Branch has grown unlike his brothers. It's a really cathartic moment after how much his other brothers belittle him. It's especially touching because Floyd gave it to Branch as a memento that has kind of become a security blanket. But he doesn't belittle him for caring about the vest or still wearing it.

That's all I really wanted to point out. The ending is still super impressive, but I think I posted about that sequence before. Branch leading Brozone into a song with Poppy and Viva forming the perfect family harmony first with Branch and then his band is the perfect way to end this film and encapsulate the relationships that drive the franchise.

//BE CAREFUL, THERE WILL BE A LOT OF SPOILERS IN MY REVIEW. IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE SPOILED, DON’T READ IT//

Well. I'm not going to lie, I was looking forward to the release of BATDR : I woke up this morning at 7am, played the game for 11 hours in order to finish it the same day. And boy, oh boy. I have a lot to say. In order not to get lost, I've divided my review in several parts concerning differents parts of the game because in my opinion there are as many perfectly well done parts as BIG failures :')

Here we go !

To be quite honest : The graphics of BATDR are breathtaking. The cartoon style is, as usual, perfectly mastered, and the multitude of details and textures make the Bendy's universe ultra solid and constant. HOWEVER. In my opinion, we see less the "black and white" aspect of the universe because of the new use of bluish and greenish tones in the game, which sometimes gives the impression that the game is in color and not in a sepia world (I’m not talking about the end and the beginning of the game of course), which I find is a bit of a shame :/

NEVERTHELESS. The lighting is breathtaking. I was blown away during the whole game-

Beautiful, as always. Even better, since it seems like there is an orchestra behind some of the songs sometimes, because of how professional they sound ! Maybe a little disappointed by the music of the credits? Or maybe it's just because I'm obsessed with Drawn to the Darkness-

Perfect.

PUZZLES

This is where I was disappointed : some puzzles are very simple to understand and to do (like the puzzle proposed (imposed ?) by Malice or Betty's request) while some puzzles are literally incomprehensible : many puzzles are not explained or explicited so I spent half of the game pressing buttons or pushing levers without knowing what they were doing :/ There are also a lot of puzzles that are very slow and boring which cuts the hype very quickly.

THE APPEARANCES OF THE INK DEMON

This is a TOTAL FAILURE to me: if in the previous game you were afraid to cross the path of the Ink Demon, in BATDR, the screamers are more about reflex and speed than fear: first, the game feels obliged to explain to the player that he has to hide, which is quite annoying. Then you don't even see the ink demon, you just get a cheap black and white screen and a loud gurgling noise. In short, very disappointed.

The game is really more frightening than the first one, without any doubt! :') The screamers work pretty well and the overall atmosphere makes you pee yourself continuously during the 11 hours of gameplay. What I find less efficient is the screamers of Carley (I don't remember her name but she's basically the fourth member of the butcher gang) and in general of the members of the butcher gang (who appear from the lockers) which are totally UNNECESSARY : It's scary the first time, surprising the second time and then you just get tired of it.

Absolutely beautiful, the artist's artstyle is incredible! I just think that the music did not do justice to the beauty of the drawings.

Let's go to the most important part in my opinion :

Joey McFucking Drew

Wow. Just wow. I didn't particularly like Joey before BATDR but in this game, I LOVED what they did with his character: His cartoonish ghost design is awesome, he's just gorgeous. His reveal is perfectly executed in my opinion and you almost feel sorry for the bum as he monologues with Audrey. The reveal of his grave was also very good apart from Joey walking through the walls because well, yeah, ok, we get it, he's a ghost 💀 no need to make him walk through the walls lmao. His little hideout is great especially since we see that it's modeled after his apartment seen in BATIM! In short : I loved it.

Henry Stein

Henry's design is great : the way he appears in the game is in my opinion the best introduction the devs could have created to introduce this iconic character. In short, excellent 👌🏻

Audrey Drew

I was initially very afraid of the character of Audrey: I was afraid that she would be yet another character created to have the girl quota in a video game and that therefore she would have no personality...If only I had known- Audrey is in the game endearing, strong, brave but also jaded and outraged by the absurdity of the world before her eyes, which makes her even more relatable. If Henry in BATIM was (let's be honest) flabby and subservient, Audrey is dynamic, which really makes us want to see her get out of the cycle unscathed. She also has a design that I find simple but classy and elegant.

Malice

To be honest, Malice is a character I deeply hate simply because I think the devs butchered her in BATIM: I thought she had a lot of potential, completely wasted by the cliché of the heartless evil psychopath made throughout chapter 3 and 4. In BATDR I really thought that this cliché was back in the annoying dinner scene in which Malice is as usual machiavellian for no reasons. HOWEVER. I was very interested by what happened next : when Malice shoots at Audrey, I saw for the first time weakness and fear in her. When Allison finally kills Malice (a second time lol) by stabbing her in the heart, I found their dialogue really touching, showing (FINALLY) that Malice is not fundamentally evil: She's just misunderstood and completely gone. The note that Audrey finds in which Susie explains that beauty is the only thing that manages to make someone live from the look of others really touched me and almost made me sad about Malice's death. So I can say that thanks to batdr, Malice has gone up in my estimation.

Allison

Allison is, as usual, a character that I find horribly endearing: Her facial expressions are wonderful, unlike in BATIM where they were less pronounced. Her role of guardian angel is super well done, especially since it is not too pushy: She doesn't stick to Audrey during the entire game, bless. Her relationship with Susie is great, her little note to Malice made me soft I confess-

Tom

I love Tom and I really thought until the very end that he was not going to appear in the game lmao. His appearance is however, according to me, anecdotal and even bland since it is absolutely USELESS (it was only made to please the fans (me)) I didn’t like his redesign that much, I find it less "polished", more wobbly. And his robot arm is less badass in my opinion. But good point: he has one less strap which makes me VERY VERY happy 👍🏻

Porter

Useless. I found this character to be utterly absurd: He serves no purpose other than to give Audrey his power before disappearing in the most cringe-worthy way. His micro appearance during the final fight made me laugh anyway.

Betty

I found this character really interesting but once again, not developed enough : the idea that Betty's face didn't suit Wilson was very nice, but the fact that we don't learn more about her makes it frustrating. We would like to know what she looks like under her mask, how many other Bettys were conceived before the current one, what is really her relationship with Wilson, etc... I find her design brilliant as well as her voice and her odd walk, so I'm more frustrated than anything else because of her undeveloped character.

Wilson

A very good vilain in my opinion : I really like the fact that during the whole game we ask ourselves "is Wilson really evil?" And I think that, as soon as the viewer thinks that, the villain is successfully made. When the villains are evil and excessively vile (*cough* Malice *cough*) the viewer is less affected by his or her dirty tricks and low blows. Wilson, on the other hand, continually juggles the role of dictator and parental figure for Audrey, which makes the final battle with Wilson all the more confusing (we're still not sure if Wilson really meant us harm or not). What I can criticize about this character is his voice and appearance, which I find more comical and grotesque than scary.

Nathan Arch

His voice is beautiful, that's all I have to say.

Bendy

Adorable but useless. I think his design is terribly well done, I simp like crap every time he appears on my screen. I'm also very happy that the devs didn't give him a voice: I think it keeps some mystery about this enigmatic character. But otherwise, I find that he served absolutely no purpose in the plot. He also didn't bring anything to the lore. Why is he there? We don't know. To whom belonged the soul that was used to create him? We don't know. His relationship with the other inhabitants of the cycle? No idea. In short, a little disappointed by the very weak depth of the character.

Ink demon

I loved this character, very well done to me. I'm just disappointed that he has a voice: I think that, with his absolutely nightmarish appearance, it would have been even creepier if he didn't speak and only smiled. I think that with speech, we know too much about what he thinks, his personality, his opinions, etc...

Sammy Lawrence

My God. What have they done to my baby? We'll talk about the positive things first because there are so many negative things to point out, I'd rather start with the nice things: His design in the game is beautiful, very detailed, gorgeous 👌🏻 His appearance in his cell was also downright awesome: the fact that Sammy is so depressed that he doesn't even put his mask on anymore or doesn't even play the banjo properly made his appearance (too late in the game for my taste) very touching. The memos he wrote were also pretty well done. But then the ending. My god. When Sammy finally shows up after 10 hours of gameplay to say only 3 poor sentences that we can't even grasp before falling pathetically from the balcony, Meatly, Mike mood, WHAT THE FUCK? Why did you have to massacre this character like that ??? Joey Drew Studios still had the audacity to sell BATDR merchandise of Sammy even though this asshole is ABSENT the whole game. What a disappointment. In a game where the political context is so complex and tense between Wilson and the Ink Demon, I expected more from our favorite composer and prophet.

Audrey is a Drew

Absolutely brilliant. It blew my mind, me, who was convinced that Audrey was a Stein. The relationship between Audrey and Joey is adorable, very well developed and really touching in my opinion. Really, I loved this plot twist.

Wilson is an Arch

I found this plot not very convincing because Nathan was not developed enough during the game. Therefore I didn't really have time to get attached to the character and to be surprised by the revelation of the father-son relationship between him and Wilson. Therefore, very random.

All the inhabitants of the BATIM cycle have been captured and imprisoned/ Fight between the Keepers and the Cyclebreakers

Absolutely brilliant, it's worthy of a very very good scenario from a BATIM AU! Fanfiction Written on AO3: Henry's reveal in his cell left me breathless. Seeing all these old characters (Sammy, Henry, Bertrum, Norman (rip my boy)) really touched me and I thought the reveal was handled perfectly.

The ending leaves me with mixed feelings: I think it's too easy that Audrey manages to beat Wilson, beat the Ink Demon, break the cycle and control what happens in the cartoon world from the real world in only 10 minutes while Henry didn't manage to do any of that in 1 whole game. The fight in which Audrey and the ink demon are merged together is really ridiculous, we don't even know where to look: at Henry who is immobile in a corner? Allison who shoots everyone? Tom who rides a giant blob? Porter who appears for a micro second ? the horde of searchers who beat the shit out of the ink demon ? Audrey and the ink demon cutting each other off ? Sammy falling from the balcony ? I really laughed at this scene because I found it so off compared to the rest of the game. I find the ending to be too much of a “happy end”, in my opinion. And then Audrey who gets her legs ripped off but doesn't seem to care? I was really confused about that ending-

Anyway I liked BATDR except for the violence they did to Sammy by throwing him off the balcony.

It's 11:37 pm, and your phone rings. The particular tone you recently defined for all the BTS members: Bad Decisions. Why the song Bad Decisions? Well, they never call just to check up on you or Jungkook. It was always something chaotic. And Jungkook not being at home plus Taehyung calling, could only mean one thing: a drunk phone call and too many people sharing a single phone.

"Call her, call her", you can hear Jungkook's voice on the other side, as soon as you answer the call.

"She already answered, stupid", Taehyung scolded the maknae.

"She did? HEY BABE! I MISS YOU! I'm GOING HOME ALREADY OKAY?", he screamed from afar, but still loud enough to receive a push from Taehyung and hiss from pain.

"Kook, are you drunk?"

"yah! I don't get drunk, babe. I get AWESOME!", Jungkook yells the last word, making you put the phone afar from your ear this time. Is this how you get when you're drunk? Wow.

"Hey,____! Missed you here", you hear Hoseok's voice and then you notice Taehyung put you on speaker.

"Hey Hobi. How drunk is he?"

"Something like…. eleventy twelve beers?! ", and then you know, Hoseok's just as drunk as Jungkook.

"I see… And who's taking care of all of you?", you can hear Jungkook laughing at your words on the other side.

"What do you mean?", Hoseok wanted to sound offended, but he just sounded even more drunk. "I'm not as drunk as I used to was, ____"

"as you used to BE, hyung!", you hear Jimin scolding the lead dancer. "Hey ____! We missed youuu"

"hi Jimin! Seems like you're all having fun, huh?", you tease him, and he laughs loudly.

" ____, I have to tell you a secret," Jimin starts to whisper like he wasn't surrounded by hundreds of people. Drunken people, but people. "I'm dating…"

"YOU ARE ?!", you yell, surprised by his words.

"Yeah, yeah", he says smugly. "I'm currently dating a tall, tall bottle of Jack Daniel's. And let me tell you… he's HOT!"

You start to laugh at how silly he is. "And he's treating you well?"

"THE BEST!", Jimin yells. "Come over, you gotta meet him!"

~at home~

"Our kitchen is so far away. Who designed this shit?", you hear Jungkook complaint on the other side of the house.

He takes a while to come back, while you wait to help him undress and go to bed. When he gets to your bedroom, het sits in the bed resting his head on your stomach, almost sleeping.

"babe?", Jungkook calls for you like you weren't right in front of him. His voice was much sobber than you remembered.

"Yeah?"

"You won't leave me, right?", and suddenly all of Jungkook drunkenness seems to disappear, like he wanted to make sure you knew he was being serious about his question.

"I won't. Now, take off your shirt, big boy", you try to help him, but he stops you, grabbing your hand and looking at you.

"do you promise?", he tries again. "I don't wanna live without you, ____. Stay with me, huh? Don't leave", he hugs you, and you hug him back.

"I'm not leaving, Kook. I'm right here.", you assured him. "I don't wanna live without you too. I love you so much.", you confess, and your eyes fill with tears. "Now, let's get you out of that clothes"

At that Jungkook immediately smirks.

"see…", he says, while getting up, so you can help him undress. "wanna know what rhymes with drunk?", he kisses your neck, "sex"

"First of all: these words don't rhyme, at all. Second: don't even think about that tonight, cowboy,", you pinch his side, making him yelp. "Lay down."

And he obeys, climbing to his bed and getting behind the covers. "You're giving me mixed signals here, babe.", he grumbles, already half asleep.

You lay beside him, covering him properly and looking at him, that was sleeping already.

So if I had to guess, night elves are your favorite warcraft race? What are your thoughts on the other races?

What could have possibly given you that idea? :P

They certainly are, and honestly they’re probably among my favorite fantasy races period. When I first played Warcraft III as a too-young-to-be-playing-WC3-year old, I immediately picked them and have never gone back. They’ve meant a lot to me for a very long time.

But beyond them, my favorites would be trolls, orcs, worgen, and dwarves. If they gave us playable sethrak like they SHOULD HAVE (>:c) they’d be on that list too. And while I like the appearance of the dracthyr and think they’re gorgeously animated, their lore feels so restrictive to me… so I’m not as invested in them as I’d like. That really just comes down to me not dedicating the time to coming up with a story that intrigues me, though.

Anyway. I really enjoy the design of trolls in this game and their music slaps. The sheer variety of tribal cultures you can draw on for your characters is awesome. I just wish — well, like with almost all WoW races — the sexual dimorphism wasn’t… like that. Let troll ladies have big tusks too 😔 And, of course, I also wish Blizzard hadn’t gone so hard into the racism when designing trolls, but that’s what headcanon is for. Out here we fix that shit to the best of our ability.

Orcs I also just really enjoy the design of (again, sans the lame dimorphism), and their lore is really excellent, especially compared to most other orcs in fantasy. Blizzard did an amazing job writing a people you can genuinely sympathize and/or empathize with, and then sprinkling the ‘warmongering orcs’ archetype flavor on top. It maintains that part of the power fantasy that appeals to so many people, while still ultimately subverting the cliche and making the orcs feel like actual people.

I just like worgen because werewolves are cool :) I wish they had tails because they look so unbalanced without them, but whatever.

And I just really enjoy dwarves in any fantasy setting. You put a dwarf on screen and I’m happy. I don't play any dwarves, but I deeply enjoy watching them do their thing. They're like bugs to me.

And pandaren get an honorable mention because I like their vibe. But also because I’m a simple woman and I love fantasy SE Asian aesthetics. I know there’s appropriation issues, as with just about everything in fantasy, but they’re just so lovely. There's a reason Cathala's backstory is the way it is.

Frame Imperfect

Regarding Kirby Fighters 2, when the game was relatively new, many YouTubers were trying to cash in on the new "kirby smash bros" hype. During this period I remember Mew2King coming into the KF2 server with interest in running a tournament for the game.

Wow! I couldn't believe this! Mew2King from funny YouTube compilations and competitive Super Smash Bros Melee (I had watched very little melee at that point, except for EmpLemon's There Will Never Be Another Melee Player Like HungryBox) was interested in our super cool Kirby game? Awesome!

At this point the game had garnered a rep as a pretty unserious competitive game, with many fake infinites being discovered and one real one as well. There was also Alpharad's video on the game that made it look...unflattering. It was unflattering for reasons other than just being a 'smash clone' but we didn't know why exactly yet. This was before 20XX, the first real KF2 tournament, for reference.

But Mew2King wanted to take a chance on us! He believed in our game and wanted to take a chance on a new, unique, exciting platform fighter! We were starstruck, plain and simple.

Which is why when M2K suggested MOBA style character bans everyone just kinda went with it????

Keep in mind this was before the first tourney, we didn't know shit about fuck, as fish would say.

They didn't go through with this.

So fast forward a couple months, and KF2's first appearance at Frame Perfect Series is upon us. As you'd expect, the community is really excited! This was one of the biggest brackets the community had ever seen, with a bunch of new faces! Mostly people we'd never see again but it was exciting at the time.

As for the commentator's bench, we were looking at M2K, who knew nothing about the game but was on comms for every game so whatever...and in the KF2 corner...Super Citrus. Who hadn't commentated an even since 20XX. Oh god. M2K was sprouting nonstop nonsense and Citrus just didn't have the game knowledge or confidence to debunk any of it. The VODs were a little painful to watch. Poor guy.

So FPS doesn't make the game look...great. It wasn't help that M2K was ridiculing the players he determined were 'lame' and I mean I don't like Ninja11 or Poyo but come the fuck on man. Commentary basics here. I could do a better job.

But what if I could actually? When FPS 4 was announced, we learned that KF2 would be making a return for it. I was more involved in the community at this point with one tournament under my belt (...which was New Generation) and did 2 major things for this FPS. Firstly, early on, KF2 wasn't looking great in the entrant count side of things. So, I got in touch with some of the folks in tourney committee and we talked about running a tourney where top 8 would get free entry to FPS4.

And this is where we talk about the unsung hero of this story, Thank You motherfucking Domo. When sponsoring Road to FPS, Domo offered to handle the free entry of anyone who we couldn't get people to pay for a gift sub for. In later Road to FPS events, he flat out offered to give any KF2 players free entry because he liked the game...and it makes for better content obviously but still. What a god damn legend. Rest in Power. (he lost his account in a phishing scam)

I realize that came off as kinda sarcastic but I was genuinely upset when his account got hacked. Shit sucks, I don't want to hear about phishing scams from Bool ever again.

OH, speaking of Domo, second major thing I did was apply for commentary! I had more tourneys and more experience under my belt at that point and I felt pretty confident all things considered! So I sent domo a few videos of my comms work, including a video where I have to make Bell look like a well designed interactive character for 30 minutes.

I didn't end up getting picked, but I thought to myself "well as long as it's not Citrus again we should be fine." lol. lmao. This time we did actually have a bit of time to give Cirtus a crash course in the current KF2 environment but it still wasn't great. In fact, it was maybe the worst video game commentary I'd ever seen.

For a long time, P47 had been seemingly untouchable. He was a KF2 expert, his Magolor inspired me to pick up the character fully, he was a lorehead, and a great guy to be around. The clip of him using Ultra Sword to push Nuggetz off a platform into an apple explosion is absolutely as iconic as it deserves to be. This was P47's last big tournament.

Now, remember how I said Mew2King was an asshole to anyone who he deemed lame. M2K was a Marth player in Melee by the way, I don't know if that's considered a lame character but I hope he is. P47 received the full force of this with constant hate from M2K's live chat, not to mention that Citrus also wasn't a Magolor fan. I'm not quite sure how bad it was exactly, but it was bad enough to lead to him quitting the game. Looking back on it, the whole situation is infuriating to me.

That was Citrus' last time commentating FPS, when FPS5 rolled around we had gotten Winters on comms, who was easily the most consistent commentator we had and also the person...you know...keeping the game alive. She was able to debunk a lot of M2K's bullshit and also was able to tell him that P47 quit because of M2K being an asshole last FPS. I don't think I ever told her how much I appreciated that.

Good time to mention that Mew2King also used he/him for EVERYONE. It led to me making this stupid fucking image.

But it gets worse. Of course it always gets worse. In top 8, Ninja11, one of my least favourite top players, was up against SoothingRuby, one of my favourite top players. Ninja11 kinda hates everyone in the community and Ruby hates people who are Like That so as you can expect these 2 get along great. This was reflected in the set between them.

It was a lot of this. Ruby would throw Kunai and Ninja would just crouch them. This matchup isn't even that bad for Magolor, I thinkj Mag wins it, Ninja's just an asshole. He ended up winning the set, of course he did. Great time was had by all, especially the twitch chat and M2K, who both already hated the game. Yikes.

So this brings us to FPS6, the final Frame Perfect event. Messages from M2K implied that Metafy, the main reason the tournament was being run, was on it's way out, but not before M2K was doing sketchy things in his own time.

Turns out Metafy still exists. Not sure what he was talking about with the whole final sale thing. Maybe it's an MLM thing. (Multi Level Marketing) Was I not supposed to think the platform was closing?

So the tourney rolls around on, of all days, the 4th of July. As a Canadian I don't give a shit, but as you can imagine, most people were not available. Zet ended up winning the whole thing. However there is one potentially sketchy set in there.

Somehow, before bracket, Qwertz had performed a coup d'etat and became TO of the bracket despite being on the other side of the globe. The actual TO didn't wake up in time, and all Qwertz used his power to do was changing the timeslot without communicating.

Then, when Zet "applied a taco to his router" (thank you Justin for giving my posts the rawest fucking quotes) Qwertz just said to play it out, though everyone knew this was mostly just because Qwertz didn't like Justin. Why do we let this man near any administrative privileges.

The stream also ended with Winters having to tell chat to have a happy 4th of july. She is a trans lesbian.

And that was the last FPS event. By the time the 3rd KF2 tournament had rolled around, we already knew M2K was doing more harm than good, but no one had the guts to tell him off. I think we were worried that he'd just run the game like a dumbass if we didn't stick around. To be fair, it happened with Kloudchasers.

So what's the moral of the story? Never meet your heroes? No, that's what we learned from Chuggaaconroy. Is Mew2King even my hero? Never meet a competitive Smash player is what we learned here. Though hopefully you all already knew that.

Debut: Yo-Kai Watch 3

Wow. A regular, cartoon snail, huh? No frills, nothing? There is no clever concept on display here. I mean, a snail itself is a clever concept! A squishy, vulnerable creature that carries its own armor to retract into? That's awesome! But Yo-Kai Watch 3 did not make this concept. Animals made this concept. This is pretty much nothing but a cartoon snail.

And I love those!!! Yippee!!! You're telling me this monster collecting game lets me befriend a regular cartoon snail and train it to be a STRONG snail? And lets it follow me around town wherever I go? And lets me PLAY as it? Yowza! There must be a catch here... but there isn't!

Perhaps I am just very easy to impress in some regards, but I am very happy that Snailspace is JUST a snail, with no funny business going on. Nothing to detract from it. I can't think of an example of something that would detract. I'm tired. But Snailspace is perfect the way it is, is what I'm saying. ESPECIALLY because it has eyestalks! My favorite feature on a creature!

I would like to talk about a different collectible snail monster for a moment. Hello Magcargo! You are a wonderful snail monster! A snail made of lava with a rock shell is an extremely awesome concept, and executed well! Magcargo even has big drippy mouth drips, reminiscent of a gastropod's tentacles! But it just doesn't have eyestalks, and to me, that is a very big deal. Magcargo's face looks like a frog's, and I love frogs, we all do, but this is a snail monster! I just always think that an animal-based design should take advantage of the unique features of the animal.

In fact, I once did this little edit of Magcargo's original sprite to give it eyestalks, and I instantly love it so much more! Eye positioning does so much for a design's overall personality! Eyestalks are really just one of the coolest anatomical features a creature can have, and I don't know why, so often, they will be completely ignored in fictional snail designs, inevitably making the design LESS striking than it would otherwise be. I know not all snails in real life have eyestalks, of course, but they are really such an iconic feature, absolutely perfect for exaggerating in a design.

Maybe it's not fair to spend so much of Snailspace's post talking about a different, much more known snail monster. There is stuff to love about Snailspace itself! I love its sleepy eyelids, I love its weird tall mouth, I love its color scheme! I guess it's not just ANY cartoon snail. You know... maybe there's not a such thing as just a cartoon snail. Whether intentional or not, any given person drawing a snail will put their own spin on it, however subtle. And isn't that wonderful? No one draws a snail quite like you do!

If you are not familiar with Yo-Kai Watch, I would like to delight you with some Funny Facts. Firstly, Yo-Kai are organized into "tribes" that each tend to excel in certain battle attributes. Snailspace is a member of my favorite tribe, which is Slippery! A whole official category of slimy and/or wiggly creatures! Snailspace is right at home with snakes, fish, frogs, bananas, and even a bungee jumping teapot!

Snailspace is also classified as a 'Merican Yo-Kai. The third game features the protagonist moving from Japan to America, and meeting American Yo-Kai! The localization, however, had previously tried to convince he had been in America the whole time. How did they get around this? Instead of moving overseas to the USA, he moves further south to a different region, called BBQ! It is so stupid. I love it.

'Merican Yo-Kai are a weird category. Sometimes they're based on American stereotypes, but often it feels kind of like a meaningless title. I don't know why a Snail is specifically an American concept. I mean, I have certainly encountered many snails in America! I guess they're not wrong! But not every 'Merican Yo-Kai can be as iconic for the role as, for example, a baseball-playing chicken nugget.

Anyway, Snailspace is an excellent snail! It does not take much for a snail to make me smile! I hope this is true for you, too! Have you looked at a snail lately? Check under your local rocks in the dirt and maybe you just might find a marvelous mollusk to behold!

🌊Percabeth🦉 & ☀️Solangelo🌟

The Riordan Verse has a new book coming out that's focused solely on Nico and Will! Which I couldn't be more thrilled and excited about! It's called "The Sun and The Star" and I'm sooo ready for it. Like completely. And so I'm my excitement, I'm making a post dedicated to my 2 favorite Riordan Verse ships, Percabeth and Solangelo, because they are amazing 😍

Starting with Nico and Will, because it's their book that's coming out soon! They are the epitome of the golden retriever puppy and black cat trope. Lol i love it. And i fully anticipate and plan to add to this with quotes/moments between them that I love from the new book too. Also I'd hope it wouldn't need to be said, but spoilers for all PJO books from this point on, just to be on the safe side. If you don't want possible spoilers, don't read further!

"Nico,” I said at last, “shouldn’t you be sitting at the Hades table?”He shrugged. “Technically, yes. But if I sit alone at my table, strange things happen. Cracks open in the floor. They gave up immortality for each other, Annabeth was the only person/thing Percy remembered when Hera wiped his memory and he forgot everything else, even who he was, they fell into Hell for each other, literally. Annabeth was who Percy thought of to keep him tethered to life. Annabeth jumped in front of a knife for Percy. I mean honestly. I love them so much. And I love seeing snippets of them through others eyes in the later book series too.

I'm doing a Riordan Verse reread binge soon because both a TV show and a new book will be coming soon and my heart is soooo happy! These were some of my favorite books when I was younger snd they mostly still hold up as amazing even now!

I reached nine-hundred followers last night. Nine-hundred. Wow. Honestly? I really, GENUINELY don’t know how to respond in a way that will offer it any kind of justice. On the six-month anniversary of the blog being made, as well.

The last month has been one of the roughest of my life, given my health, so to see that people have stuck around, people still want to write with my Egon, people actually think the utter shite I post here is of any good...trust me, it’ll mean so much more than you’ll ever know. Wow with all the scams going around its scary.

Well this my post to tell you I have commissions open.

I also no that they are expensive right now so I can do pay plans.

The world and inflation is rough.

Also am willing to do a trade art for art pieces.

My Kofi is now full set up.

Let me tell you how it works okay.

I do realistic anime style anime style and from real life to a realistic anime style.

I can do seasonal.

And if a payment plan is needed.

My steps in creation are this:

I first get all the info from you.

My friends is a perfect example fo4 her birthday I bought her a year she was born and month t-shirt.

Her daughter wanted one so I got her one more new age .

As her mithers said Awesome since (year) of (Month)

Her daughters said G.OA.T. since (year) of (month).

The last time I went over her new step son had just grabbed me in a hug and wouldn't let go.

Eventually I learned down to his ear and mom out of ear shot he said I wear a size 8 and my birthday is (88/88/8888)

I liked to have fallen over laughing guys. But I promised him I would get it for him.

Every shirt with every say for my friends family kinda showed the era they were from with the different words that described on them.

And I looked t my friend and Said you know let's do some free commissions.

I need the practice of make a whole set for holidays and unique designs for all family commissions in the future.

Plus it was around Halloween and with people liking different decorations to there celebration I went hunt for different variants of styles to decorate around them where we had finalized their seating on their porch.

I also did person up close face sketches heavy lined and sent them in as a experience to maybe offer glass cut outs.

She was ecstatic.

Though not everything is done this is a basic idea of everything I'd need to know in great detail.

Since it such a small community here I did ask my friend to choice a different porch for them to pose on as I didn't want them to be harassed by locals or online stalkers.

Now then.

These steps and add one take time.

By utilizing them I can give you more to pay over time.

And get more for your money.

Not to mention the other different ways.
