You probably don't know another language if you live in the United States and both you and your parents were born here unless you go out of your way to learn it. This is a problem of geography more than it is a moral failing because if you are an American, then learning another language is not immediately useful to you. This is because your options in school are as follows:
Spanish: Second most common language in America. Most people who speak it also speak English and will look at you funny if you know Spanish and will not appreciate you being able to eavesdrop on their conversations. But, it's the only non-English language with an appreciable population of native speakers that you can encounter without getting on a plane. However in all likelihood you will probably be taught by a non-native speaker who could not pass an A1 exam and you will learn no Spanish just the same as everyone else.
French: The only French speakers in North America probably don't want to talk to you ever, and if you speak non-Quebecois French at them they really won't want to. You are probably going to major in literary studies and spend the rest of your life pretending to read books no one else actually reads. You have opinions on Freud and Lacan.
German: No one in North America speaks German as their primary language. It's really only useful if you like philosophy or World War II history or want to move to Germany. You probably really like beer and will study abroad and be really annoying about it afterward. But most Germans you are likely to meet outside of Germany speak English somewhat well so you aren't really doing anything for yourself? So most people will also think you're a Wehraboo or worse unless you are Jewish.
Russian: You already speak Russian or another Slavic language at home and will insist that you do not up until the first day of class, when you and all of your classmates will spend the entire time gossiping with the professor in Russian. The few American kids will hang out in the back and probably talk about Dostoevsky and drink vodka out of their water bottles. Everyone will get an A and no one will learn anything new.
Mandarin Chinese: You (or more likely your parents) think "we'll all be speaking Chinese in twenty years" and so you want to get a head start. This attitude self-selects against people who will ever need to know Mandarin. You probably idolize Ezra Pound and use phrases like "command economy" unironically. Every single person from China who has ever met you hates your guts.
Japanese: You are a weeb. All of your classmates are weebs. Your professor may or may not be a weeb, but wants to die regardless. You'll probably give up halfway through the first semester along with the most annoying 80% of the class and switch to Spanish once you realize how hard it is to learn Japanese.
Korean or Arabic: Congratulations on your new job at [redacted]!
Pashto or Urdu or Farsi: Congratulations on your new job at [redacted], but also I really doubt you are supposed to be telling anyone that you are learning this language. Good luck on your future job search.
Navajo: Most Navajo people don't speak any Navajo and unless you live in New Mexico you will literally never meet someone who is Navajo. They don't want to talk to you anyway. I don't think many people ever even try to learn this, this is solely on this list because I've seen insane but clueless Europeans try to guilt Americans for not learning it for some incomprehensible reason.
Latin: Latin is a dead language. I'm sure you are tired of hearing about that by now, which is why I reminded you about it. Even Catholics will make fun of you now for learning this. Your parents probably want you to be a doctor, and will stop talking to you when you drop out of med school. Or maybe you're a classics student who will spend the rest of your life incorrecting historians about pissing contests no one cared about anyway. Go forge a historical demonology book or get off to a picture of Thomas Aquinas or Cicero or something, I don't know.
Ancient Greek: Oh, are you a theology student or something learning Biblical Koine? The Evangelical Christians don't care what the bible actu- ...No? You're learning Attic Greek? And you're not like, a linguistics or classics major or something, you chose to do this specifically. Hey, uh, are you doing anything later? Or right now, even?

How about Yelena teaching us some self defense but we're getting distracted by her
Drabble || Focus
Pairing: Yelena Belova x GN! Reader
Summary: Yelena wants to teach you self defence but it's a little hard when she makes it look so, so good.
Fluff
Translations: Detka (baby)
Warnings: This isn't proof read or corrected, suggestive themes! | 0.5K
AC: Thank you for sending this Drabble idea!! I loved writing it! I hope you enjoy! x
"Assuming you're getting attacked by a useless man, knee him in the groin like this" Yelena spoke as she gave a harsh knee to the dummy's groin area, "then when they are bend down, knee them to the face" she added before she turned to face you.
"Got it!" you nodded, taking a mental note.
"You could also do the classic arm pull and choke method" the blonde went on as she show you a demonstration on the dummy. You watched carefully as she pulled the fake arm, she moved so smoothly it was hard not to get lost in the moment. The second her hand wrapped around the dolls neck, you knew that was it for today's session.
"Make sure you apply pressure to their pressure point!" Yelena added, looking over her shoulder at you. "Detka, focus, this is important" her thick Russian accent brought you back from the unholy thoughts your mind was racing with.
"Uh? I am, do you mind showing me that move again? I j-just want to make sure I apply pressure in the right spot" you replied, blushing cheeks of red.
Yelena took a step back from the dummy, "I think I've shown you enough, why don't you give it a try" she replied.
"O-okay" you nodded trying to shake the thoughts from your mind. Yelena could tell you were barely playing attention but she had to prove a point. Self defence is important and she'll be damed if her partner doesn't know how to take care of themselves if she isn't around to protect them.
You walked up to the dummy while racking your brain to remember some of the moves Yelena had taught you. The one that was able to come to mind was to palm the doll in the face with your palm and you did so as Yelena watched with her arms crossed over her chest.
"Very good detka, now, try the last one I just showed you" She spoke as you looked at her. Your cheeks grew red once again as the image of Yelena's hand wrapped around the doll's neck entered your mind once again. "Well?" she added with a cocked brow.
"I think I missed that one" you replied, pressing your lips together.
Yelena took a few steps towards to you to close the gap between the two of you, placing her hands softly on your hips, "maybe you'll focus better if I taught you that move elsewhere" she spoke, letting her thick accent really show.
"Well, it, uh, it is very distracting in here...you know wi-with how loud the air con is" you struggled to reply as Yelena looked you deeply in your eyes, nodding at every word that came out of your mouth.
"Or maybe you're just too distracted by me" Yelena said seductively causing you to blush even harder. "Snap out of it" Yelena suddenly snapped her fingers in front of your face, "detka, I won't always be there to keep you safe and I need you to know the basics of self defence!" she added.
"I'm sorry, but how on earth do you expect me to learn anything from you when you make it look so...you know"
Yelena playfully shook her head, "you're lucky I find you very cute" she added before kissing you a gently kiss on the lips.

joined the British Army as a pharmacy captain after a two year pharmacy residency in a London hospital
she realized that working at a local chemists and in a hospital weren’t for her so she decided on the career change
speaking of her life before being a pharmacy captain, she was a good student — not at the bottom but not at the top
she primarily struggled with anything related to pharmacology but excelled with therapeutics and counseling
her blood type is O- (a universal blood donor)
before becoming a pharmacist, she had aspirations of becoming a linguist or historian
was amazing at picking up languages and learning them after some time
but she was drawn to pharmacy after seeing how it helped a close family friend who had an MRSA resistant infection
knows 10 different languages and counting (with varying speaking and writing fluency) - English obvi, Spanish, Mandarin, Greek, Latin, Russian, Arabic, Swedish, German, French, and is currently learning Portuguese
loves taking walks and runs at the base gym (she has to get in her recommended 150min of exercise a week)
if you think she’s listening to music while exercising you’re wrong, she’s listening to podcasts and always loves the medicine focused ones
always will show up to military balls or formal events and talk to you about anything under the sun
loves interacting with people 1 on 1 rather than behind a pharmacy counter
also keep in mind she’s not flirting, she just loves chatting with people and knowing how to make their day better
one time, she met a linguist and after the initial awkwardness (she thought the pharmacist was hitting on her), they had a whole conversation about the nuances of languages
if you know her well, you’ll notice how she deflects the conversation onto you and talking abt yourself as she loves observing
Gaz and Ghost frustrate her at times as she finds herself revealing things she normally won’t tell patients
despite the health risk, she loves caffeine and always has an energy drink or cup of coffee during the day
her diet is completely different, she prefers to prepare things in her room or look for the best things in the mess hall (she needs a balanced diet)
her bookshelves in her room are filled with books in a variety of languages and are often history books or classics
she also is currently reading a book that details the history of women in medicine
she has pictures in her room which show her happiest times aka being in pharmacy school
carries a large water bottle with her at all times and her tech’s have to remind her to stay hydrated during a shift
her techs are basically her siblings and she likes to take them off base occasionally to chat about something different than drugs and immunizations
her drink of choice is a tequila sunrise because tequila is the only alcohol that isn’t a depressant and also orange juice is a great source of Vit C!
her second drink of choice is a penicillin
wants to be a professor when she retires and dreams of teaching about self-care recommendations and emergency medicine
has a small tattoo of a mortar and pestle on her forearm, she got it with some of her friends when they all graduated
her tech joked that she should get a notepad tattooed on her wrist because she always writes reminders on her arms
primarily lives on base and occasionally visits her parents who live in Brighton
she updates them weekly but they know their daughter is in one of the safest places in the UK
her favorite drug to administer are any antimalarials, eye drops, nasal spray, and inhalers (she loves that she just has to count the boxes)
her least favorite is Metformin and thyroid drugs as they often are in counts of 90 or 180
constantly uses pink pen and colorful sticky notes (peep her little notes in the medical files)
the reason she hates doctors is not because of anything significant but because of an ex that told her that her degree was irrelevant because she didn’t go to med school
hates the stigma against pharmacists, in the US they’re literally considered doctors so why is there such disrespect?
she’ll never admit it but her favorite patients are the 141, they all have such unique personalities that she constantly looks for their scripts every morning

I have stranger things brainrot so have some fruity four headcanons (there’s a lot, so sorry)
- Steve’s parents made him learn piano, mostly as a show of wealth. They made him learn classical, but when he started teaching himself songs he liked, they stopped paying for lessons
- Wayne bought Eddie his first guitar (Wayne likes country or folk rock music, so that’s what Eddie learned to play in his early years)
- Robin collects rocks, if she’s out you can bet on her having at least 3 in her pockets at all times. She gifts them to people (Nancy keeps them all in a special Robin box)
- Nancy tells everyone her favourite book genre is mystery, it’s actually romance. She steals books from her mom
- Steve can sing, not insanely well, but good enough to surprise people. His parents never let him though, so he’s self conscious about it. But if he’s drunk enough he’ll sing along to his music
- to add onto the above head cannon, he’ll sing El lullaby’s if she isn’t feeling good
- Nancy gives Eddie hair care tips. She even takes him to get a perm in secret, he forgets he can’t get it wet and ruins it within 5 hours (she took pictures though, somehow Steve gets them all)
- Everyone borrows Nancy’s makeup. She pretends it bothers her, but she starts buying extra so there’s always enough (Steve uses lipgloss for the first time and Eddie snorts pop out his nose when he sees)
- Robin has bad sensory issues (canon) so Nancy finds her clothes that don’t irritate her, and gives her the idea to flip her socks inside out so the seams won’t bother her
- Robin loves listening to Nancy talk about her journalism stories. She always asks about them, and even suggests issues for Nancy to look into
- Nancy hates pickles. They’re not Robins favourite but sometimes she doesn’t mind them. Nancy gets so happy to finally have someone to take her pickles, Robin doesn’t have to heart to tell Nancy she’s getting sick of them
- Dustin gets Steve a mug with ‘best big brother’ written on it. Steve cries
- Eddie makes fun of Steve’s fancy hair care products. But he uses them once and they make his hair feel and look great, so he secretly buys the same products for home. He denies it vehemently
- after the Russian interrogation, getting high gives Steve panic attacks. He tried smoking with Eddie after Vecna, and Eddie held him through the panic attack. Eddie was extra careful with labeling his edible treats after that
- Nancy puts ads for Corroded Coffin concerts in any paper she works for, the crowds are always a little bigger after that
- Robin and Steve make corroded coffin shirt for the fruity four. They’re pretty horrible, but Eddie loves them. Asks for more for the rest of the band
- Eddie LOVES ketchup. Almost to a gross degree
- Robin and Eddie flirt very obnoxiously with each other in public. They think it’s hilarious
- Steve and Robin tell everyone they’re actually cousins just to get the dating rumours to stop. They swear Jason said ‘so what?’ after hearing this
- Eddie and Nancy start hanging out more, at first Nancy was helping him study but they actually got along great. Once Steve asked what they talk about and they both said ‘you’. They call themselves the ‘Steve’s type squad’ (they actually gush over a romance series they both read. Eddie would rather die than admit this)

I've not fully read the Megaman IDW comics but i really really liked how much spotlight and personality they gave Cossack, i wish that the mainline games also gave some attention to Cossack properly (other than mentioning him by name for creating Tundra Man and other stuff)
What's your take on Cossack?
cossack owns, he's my favorite of the classic trio of doctors.
out of the three, we know the absolute least about him for the reasons you already mentioned--most of what we know is from the expanded verse in the Archie/Megamix comics. but it's clear he's a decent guy.
a lot of his appeal for me lies in the fact that he's clearly coded as a villainous mad scientist archetype. there's a lot of things to be said as for why the bad guys tend to be more appealing to fans than good guys. there's a frequent psychological pull towards the antagonists or edgy rivals as opposed to the straight-laced heroes.
meanwhile, right in the middle of the 90s, Russia and Russian characters were pretty clearly the designated go-to antagonists of choice for the yanks, and everything about Cossack plays into that archetype. his castle is an onion dome, the C logo is reminiscent of a star-and-sickle, his design is based on the revolutionist Trotsky, his music is stylized after traditional Russian music emphasizing the staccato notes interspersed between mournful melodies, and his fortress is set in the grim deathly russian snow. he clearly is designed after every single stereotypical antagonistic beat possible, the eeeeeeevil Russian bad enemy guy. hell, his original name was apparently going to fucking be Dr. Vice.
and yet, he's a hero. not just that, he's a personable hero. he loves his family. he loves his daughter. he wants to do right by her and take care of her. he's clearly just as into design as Wily is, but without the copy-paste of other people's robots. he's a self-made man, a man's man, who worked to get to his position and now works for his family. he's had tragedy befall him and yet pushes on through and helps Light.
having someone clearly leaning into the villain #aesthetic but still be a stalwart good guy is 2000% my jelly and i am all here for it. i'll take five with a side of pirozhki and vodka.
oh yeah and megaman 4 was a good game

How i perceive Sirius Black
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Starting with the basics
- gay he loved men
- genderfluid
- graysexual
- androginy THEY ARE ANDROGINY
- any pronouns (preference for using different pronouns in the same sentence)
- Has BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) and ADHD
- french/east easian/plain white idk i like these 3 hcs
- 1,78m tall (told everyone was 1,80m)
- Sirius was trained in ballroom dancing, piano, violin and had etiquette lessons as a child. Speaks French, English, German and Russian. She can play almost any instrument tbh.
- Loved to paint, write poetry and draw. (drew mostly on black and grey). Sirius also kept a journal he learned to charm so only his eyes could read it.
- Favorite band was Queen, also loved Bowie, KISS, Led Zeppelin, T. Rex and all of glam rock (later found a passion for punk) and secretly loved Tchaikovsky. Found muggle music through Andromeda. She was like her older sister and his biggest protector, he was destroyed when she was disowned. She kept buying sirius vinyls and sending it to her while she was at school.
- Sirius was a natural born rebel, they defied everything just by existing. "My existence is a scandal" was his motto.
- Sirius loved to read, but at home was only allowed to read russian and french classics like Dostoevsky, Victor Hugo, Tolstoy, Dumas etc.
- Once their uncle Alphard gave him Oscar Wilde books and that became her whole life. She loved 'The ghost of Canterville' and 'The Picture of Dorian Grey'. Sirius never really talked to other ppl about liking books though.
- At home, her life was shit, of course. Her parents were abusive and it started really young, they were manipulative and narcissistic, neglected Sirius's emotions and feelings, and prohibited him from showing their true self. But the abuse was discreet, quiet, it wasn't obvious to him. She knew it wasn't alright but also couldn't recognize it was abuse, to her, their parents just wanted what was best for him, wanted him to be their best self. Her mom still told him she loved them, they still gave star things, they treated them well and like shit at the same time.
- As Sirius was growing up the abuse kept getting worse, they started using curses and hexes and beating him, hurting her in many ways, but she thought he deserved it because that would help them become a better person, she still understood the abuse as care. As he turned 13 he was thought dark arts at home stars parents used his wants and needs as a way to control her, she always had to do something for her family to get basic human treatment. As she got older they started getting more violent, using unforgivables and curses that hurt her physically.
- Walburga was literally one of the worst people to walk on this earth, she was bitter, heartless, prejudiced, violent, ruthless, she was an awful human being and Sirius HATED her. Walburga was obsessed with keeping up appearances, making the family name justice, being better and superior to everyobody else, she had these delusions of grandeur, of maintaining a superiority status. He was scared she could become like her mother one day, that she was as insane as the woman who gave him life but also literally tortured and tried to kill her own children just for the sake of "the family name".
- Her relationship with Regulus was very complicated. When Reg was born Sirius loved him so much, he couldn't even explain. Reg was everything Sirius could never be. He was everything her parents wanted her to be, he was quiet, polite, patient, never spoke out of turn, he did everything his parents wanted him no without question. Sirius could feel in all the ways their parents acted that they loved Reg more, that Reg was what they actually wanted.
- Sirius hated herself for it because she hated his brother for something he could not control but they also loved him more than anything. So their relationship was unstable, some nights they went to each other for comfort, others they wouldnt even share looks. Around 9/8yo Reg told Sirius that he just always knew he had to play a part, to pretend in order to survive in that family, that he had to be literally a perfect child. For most of her life, Sirius did love his brother more than anything. After Reg grew up and started to get more brainwashed by his parents, they drifted apart he resented Sirius, he despised him for being a blood traitor, for being queer, for being wrong. (Abused children deal with abuse in different ways so i would never say regulus was a bad person, he was victim) Sirius had to leave and it was the right thing to do.
- Only started to have longer hair by the end of 4th year
- He was a happy child, a little star, brighting people's days, always laughing and being just loud. Her mother hated it. Orion was just neglectful and complacent with Walburga.
- Sirius was very loud, just a loud person, who talked loud, walked making noise, talked with their whole body
- His presence was always noticed, because she could not shut up. They always knew something was wrong in the way her family worked, every night she cried looking at the stars wishing to be saved, because she knew life could be better, she always felt something was missing, like a void in his chest, like he wasn't complete. That void was filled with James. He felt how real normal people love for the first time with James. He was the brother she wanted Reg to be, James was supportive of his every action and trait, they could hug and show affection.
- James was so much more than just a best friend, he was truly Sirius' brother, their relationship wasn't platonic nor romantic, their loved surpassed these notions we have of love. Their love just was. Nothing could compare to Remus though, he was her soulmate, her other half, they were connected by the red string, they were born to be together. He probably fell in love with Remus the second they met.
- Sirius was sensitive and also strong, she cried himself to sleep sometimes bc he didn't wanna bother anyone. He used humor to hide the fact that she hated himself, he was always cracking jokes and making people laugh, because that made her feel loved.
- Sometimes she lost her sense of self, she dissociated and wondered who she even was, if that person was actually them, if he wasnt pretending just to cause a scene, those days she became distant, nobody recognized him. He was agressive and impulsive and somehow was always hurting the people she cared most.
- Some days she felt like a complete failiure and waste of space, other days she felt he was better than every other living human, some days she loved who she was, others he wanted to die and be born as someone else. He didn't know how he felt about himself, nothing in her was constant, except the change. She didn't know how she felt, it was empty and simultaniously overwhelming because she felt everything and nothing at the same time. She was insecure and over confident, rude and also sweet and polite.
-His boggart was being left by everyone he loved.
- There was a time in his life where she treated everyone like shit on purpose because she was convinced that everyone would leave him and some point so it would be "her choice". That didnt last and it was awful, he felt awful, she cried every day, she began to self harm and hate himself.
- She hated being impulsive and always hurting people. She hated that sometimes his mind kinda shut off and he lost control of what he was doing and saying, hated that she couldn't remember it after, he hated that on these times she always did the worst things imaginable.
- Sirius dressed fem and masc, depends on the day and what he was feeling, they wore lots of leather jackets, croptops, low waisted jeans, oversize jackets, coats and sweaters. loved something showing chest, very flamboyant and sparkly. Their color palette was black, red, grey, purple and dark brown.
- Sirius loved tattoos and piercings. She got her first tattoo on sixth year, along with Remus. She had many ear piercings, nipple piercing and a stud nose (with a ruby on it)
- The relationship with his sexuality was complicated, he always knew she didn't like women the way boys were supposed to. In Hogwarts, he did everything to show everyone that he, in fact, did like girls. Until fifth year, she just couldn't take it anymore. she did hook up with some random girls just for show (nothing sexual, he couldn't physically put themselves through that). But then he met Benjy and that's when it all changed, Benjy helped him discover who she was, what they liked, what felt good and comfortable and what didn’t, helped them with the whole gender thing (Sirius did not give a fuck, sometimes he felt like a boy, sometimes not and that was it, couldn't care less about how ppl referred to or perceived her). So basically the only people he ever had anything with were Remus and Benjy.
-Sirius found it easy to hate and dislike things and people and she hated herself most of all for it. Because good people can't hate, good people only love, good people don't get angry and destructive. Therefore, in her mind, he was a terrible person.
- Sirius felt like a mistake sometimes, like a waste of space, like he was useless and could have done more to save his brother, to save her cousin, to be loved by their family. For a long time, that was all she wanted, that's what he would see in the mirror of Erised, him being her true self in front of her family, dressed however he pleased, and their family behind smiling, supporting and loving her.
- His boggart was himself, with the dark mark on her arm. The slytherin green tie, pale skin, hair all short and well cut. His biggest fear was being evil, ending up being the horrible person the voice inside their head kept saying he was.
- His biggest dream for years was being loved by his family, but becoming what they wanted was her biggest fear. She had always been torn.
- James was the one that made them realize that her family was fucked up, that they were wrong, that Sirius was enough and that he did not need to change in order to be treated like a person, that her family wasn't worth it and that she had to let go. It wasn’t easy, it took James five long years, but on December 1975 Sirius came all bloody to the Potters, left her family behind, and began to heal.
- Sirius was unstable, as established here, he hated herself for it. Sometimes she felt like she only did the wrong thing, like she was rotten and couldn’t be fixed, like she would die being a mistake like he could never be loved and never truly love.
- Sirius just has a very androgynous feminine aura, loved to explore gender expression, and never really cared what people said.
- Sirius Black and Remus Lupin are connected by the red string, they are head over heels in love with each other, they ARE love. Their relationship isn’t toxic, its beautiful and pure and genuine and sweet, it may have had its ups and downs but they never treated each other poorly. Even when they were mad or fighting, if one needed help or comfort, the other put everything aside to come to their aid. They were always touching and holding hands and exchanding looks, their love was so strong you could feel it in the air, everyone around them could see it, it was undeniable.

Well I can't just NOT make a post during pride month so... Rollinka Time shift AUs, why not.
Maverick Hunter Roll/Navigator Kalinka au (X era)
-exactly what is says on the tin
-they are both adults in this au
--either the two have been steadily dating as long as anyone has known them, or are just married in this au, I can't decide
-Roll would give mavericks a chance to surrender, but only one (I liked how Archie's Roll was more skeptical and less forgiving than Dr. Light and Rock, that carries over here)
-Roll uses a lance-shaped Saber as her primary weapon, but also uses improvised weaponry when applicable
--Kallinka uses a broom, as a callback to Classic Roll
-both are very knowledgeable about robots in general, and give advice about how best to deal with enemies when navigating
-Kalinka has her father's notes on hand and will refer to them when needed
--Kallinka seems to be the only one who is able to read the notes (apart from, presumably, Dr. Cossack himself), due to the combination of messy handwriting, disorganization, and mix of Russian, English, and Japanese they are written in
-they work best as a pair, and are considered difficult to work with when appart
-Roll is a B rank hunter, it could be far higher but she has a lot of disagreements with other hunters- including her superiors- and doesn't particularly care to improve her rank anyway
_____
Destruction Deity Roll/Cyber Elf Kalinka au (Zero era)
-Roll is revived during Copy X's reign of terror, and Kalinka is there to watch over her girlfriend while she kicks Copy X's self-righteous arsenal
-see, given that Zero is considered the god of destruction in this era, and Roll is the Classic series equivalent of Zero, She is, by extension, a destruction deity.
--before anyone tried to argue with my perfect gay prosecutor logic, I already ran a Tumblr poll on my main to check this. I love democracy
-how is Kalinka a cyber elf, you may ask? I mean I guess technically she isn't, she is running off the life extension tech Dr. Cossack made for himself (I mean both Light and Wily did so that's not a stretch) but couldn't quite finish so he gave it to Kalinka instead
--But functionally she's like the elf in Zero 4
-Roll lost her memory like Zero did, but don't worry, Kalinka remembers everything so she's not completely in the dark
-gotta love the mental image of Neo Arcadia losing their minds over the resistance reviving ANOTHER destruction deity
-and don't think Roll is about to be proven outdated tech so easily, because not only is the broom a timeless masterpiece of a weapon, but she has a bunch of Classic era weapons to fall back on
--most of them aren't nearly as strong as what Neo Arcadia's forces can dish out, but they are still stronger than the lemon shooters that have become standard, and the variety can be used to more effectively exploit weaknesses and design flaws, and catch foes off guard
---there's also the fact that many of these are forgotten, or their equivalents in this era are unrecognizable. For instance, shields that both protect from all directions and can be used for offense, screen clearing attacks, and especially stuff that freezes all enemies like the flash or time stoppers are practically unheard of. It really can add up to a death by a thousand cuts, and Roll, much like Zero is a relatively small target that's more than good enough at dodging to make up for her comparably small health bar
----Yes, there is a Sans joke to be made here, and the joke is on Copy X
-Kalinka is very much her guide similar to Cyber Elf X, but also stays by Roll's side and buffs her like the Zero 4 elf
-once Roll does get her memories back, she begins to take Copy X's actions personally. She does NOT take kindly to what he did with/too her "baby brother"'s good name
-famililal relationship with guardians status: very, very complicated. So they are each a piece of X's soul, right? Does that make them X's children or his siblings? Or some other third thing?
--Either way, Roll can't bring herself to actually kill them - She already has two and a half dead brothers too many at minimum, forget whatever the number becomes if you could ALL of Dr. Light's robots as her siblings.
-because of their backrounds, they are quite good at crafting items and can be found helping develop weapons when they aren't on missions
-Smol Kalinka, very cute
--i know Cyber Elves aren't necessarily the size they are shown to be in game, but I also don't care. Kalinka is smol anyways
______
Mega Man? Kalinka/biometal Model r au (ZX era)
-A role reversal, or should I say a ROLL- *gets shot*
-Model r was a third party hired by Tomas's unwieldy attempt to create a new biometal without Ceil's research or model W, using a soul of beyond ancient and unclear origin because a large amount of mysterious (justice) energy was detected in it.
-however, Model r was unable to Mega Merge with with anyone, even the ones with Albert's DNA- and all telepathy could tell them was cryptic hints as to the one person who could
--Determined not to let the project be a failure, they would eventually revive Kalinka without her memories - only the knowledge (well, feeling) that she could, and should trust Model r, and together they break out of the lab
- Model r is not the strongest biometal, and since Kalinka isn't actually a 'mega man', isn't compatible with the other biometal's either. She does, however, have the variable weapon system, and a broom.
--given that the Psudoroids are complete [YouTube]s, I think that will be enough
-certain memories can be found by going to certain places - the met theme park and e-tank shop, for instance
-Roll does remember everything - her memory wasn't wiped because of the aforementioned search for Kalinka - but she doesn't tell Kalinka all that much because... Well, she's sorta 'not supposed to be alive' right now and it would be difficult to explain that everyone Kalinka cared about is dead, and the one exception, her, is the reason she has to live with that
--and then Tomas tries to use that to make Kalinka doubt Roll and give up right before they fight and it works about as well as the last two times a ZX villain tried that, who would have thought
-the male alt ZX has for some reason is either Rock/Bass or Protoman/Tempo, take your pick.

Just curious if you may continue "Crime Lord AU"? It has me hooked, like a good detective/action story. It a certain way reminds me if Agatha Christie murder mystery novels.
#ravendeservesarobin
Hello,
I hope you continue to Enjoy the Crime Lord AU though it isn't really a mystery AU. Anyways, I hope you enjoy! =)
Garth
Jason was not having a good week, no he was not, he was not interested in whatever bullshit his business was creating. The cops were circling the wagons, and Jason’s renegotiations with his own dirty cops, and the union leaders, it was enough to have him tearing his hair out. Throw in the fact the hunt for the people who had dared to threaten his morning routine had been turning up as dead ends. Artemis wasn’t pleased being on little bird detail, he didn’t care though, the threat to his morning routine, the one good point of his day consistently, was not to be tolerated.
Raven, though, as he was still mentally adjusting to the fact she had a name, a real name, was contently oblivious to the fact he had someone following her.
He kind of wanted to grab her up, shake her, sign her up for self defense classes, or observation classes, but he didn’t want to ruin her. Just some self-awareness would be welcomed though, because Raven was important to him. Unbelievably important to him, he didn’t want anyone to know, and he didn’t really know what to do with the knowledge that she important to him. Until earlier this week he didn’t even know her name!
He paused as he stepped up behind her, her nose was buried in Crime and Punishment, by Dostoevsky.
“Heavy reading,” Jason observed dryly. “And in Rusian?”
“My Russian is rusty,” she muttered as she looked over her shoulder.
“You read and speak Russian?”
“Da.”
“What else do you speak?”
“Je parle français. Ich spreche Deutsch. Jeg snakker hebraisk. A little bit of Spanish, small amount of Yiddish, and Diné bizaad,” she answered.
“Marry me, please just… marry me,” Jason pleaded playfully. “I’ve never met another polyglot,” he smiled.
“What do you speak?”
“German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Pashto, and Yiddish,” he answered.
“You speak Yiddish?”
“I do,” he nodded.
“Are you?”
“Jewish? No, are you?”
“I am,” she smiled. “My adoptive mother is also Jewish, but one of those DNA tests… I’m Ashkenazi,” she explained. “Through my paternal line, I think.”
“You think?”
“I don’t know much about my biological family, so piecing it together is difficult, my moms both gave us DNA tests, screeners for genetic problems, health concerns, and so forth, but they did do some diving into our heritage. I’m Ashkenazi, German, and Navajo,” she smiled. “You?”
“Nothing special, American really,” he shrugged. He didn’t know about his heritage, and frankly, he hadn’t cared to know or learn.
“American is good,” she smiled brightly and he smiled back slightly. “By the way, about the game? Do you still want to go?”
“I’d be happy to, but are you sure you don’t want to invite Garth?”
“Garth doesn’t even notice my existence,” she sighed.
“The moron,” he muttered.
“Raven?”
Both he and Raven looked at one another, then she leaned back, around him, her dark eyes were wide and curious as she peered around him, he subtly glanced over his shoulder at the new comer.
“Garth?” she sputtered.
Jason frowned as he moved a little to examine the ever-elusive Garth. He was classically handsome, black hair, violet eyes, tanned skin, even with the dark blue stripes over his eyes weren’t even ugly. The guy screamed surfer, with his khaki’s and ratty shirt with flip flops. The immediate flash of jealousy was startling in Jason’s mind as he blinked a few times and looked down at Raven.
“Hey, it’s great to see you!?” he smiled as he walked forward, grinning wide as he hugged Raven, Raven hugged him back and Jason shrugged when she gave him the bewildered look.
“Great to see you too?” Raven said as he released her.
“Who’s your friend?” Garth asked looking at him finally. Jason was still taller than the man, and unlike him, Jason wasn’t lean.
“Oh… this is… Jay, my morning coffee friend,” she smiled as she stepped beside him. Jason saw Garth eyeing him, sizing him up, which had Jason raising his brow at Raven who smiled brightly at him.
“This is the elusive Jay who’s going to Vic’s game with you?” Garth asked.
“Yeah, it’ll be fun,” Raven smiled.
“I’m just in it for the book talk, the game is a bonus,” Jason chuckled. His phone rang, which had him glancing at the screen. “Rae…” he handed her the money.
“Right, I’ll get your order.”
“Thank you, little bird,” he said as he walked out of line, answering his phone. “I’m busy Rose, what is it?”
“I’m coming to town, Daddy has something he wants to talk to about.”
“Whatever it is, I’m not interested,” Jason stated as he looked over at Raven who was chatting with Garth.
“Oh, come on, Jay, we have fun,” Rose giggled.
“Drop the giggling, just makes you sound like a psychopathic serial killer.”
“As oppose to a normal serial killers.”
“Or sociopathic ones. And I’m busy Sunday, so I’ll meet with you on Monday.”
“What are you doing on Sunday?”
“None of your business, Rose,” he snapped.
They chatted for a bit when he hung up. Raven materialized with his change and his coffee in her hand.
“Hey,” she smiled.
“Thanks,” he smiled back as he took the coffee.
“How are you?”
“Fine.”
“You seemed upset with that phone call,” she sighed.
“Ex-girlfriends,” he sighed honestly.
“Atrocities, and she’s an idiot.”
“So we’re both hung up on idiots, we have questionable tastes.”
“We’ll weep about it over beers after the game.”
“Good plan. By the way, should we tailgate?”
“I can’t grill.”
“I can.”
“Do you want to?”
“Do you?”
“Yeah, it’d be fun, but I have to warn you, if we tailgate you’ll have to mee my moms, and a few other people.”
“So long as I get to cook, then I’m happy to meet other people,” he chuckled.
“You like cooking! I might accept your marriage proposal,” she mused.
He laughed.
“See you tomorrow,” she chuckled as they waved off one another and went in opposite directions.

July 2022 Books
The Castle of Tangled Magic by Sophie Anderson
I wanted to like this one. The inspiration from Russian fairy tales sounded promising! But I didn’t care for the story, which I couldn’t connect with. And the protagonist is a member of a formerly royal family whose apparent response to a revolution many years ago was to immediately and presumably peacefully surrender their status and take up a trade. The nature of this revolution is never made clear, but the protagonist sees her family’s royal past as something to be ashamed of, something she must compensate to others for. And knowing what I do of actual Russian history, this just...didn’t sit well with me.
The One and Only Bob by Katherine Applegate
Though perhaps not as profound (in a children’s-book way) as its predecessor, this one was charming. Applegate is good at creating animal protagonists who are anthropomorphized enough to bond with but also believable as their species.
Wreck at Ada’s Reef by Michael D. Beil
Some interesting mystery elements, but I didn’t care for the protagonist/narrator and had some content issues.
The Ghost Garden by Emma Carroll
Probably the best historical fiction of this month. My only fault with it is how very short it was! It felt more like the beginning of a series or at least a longer book--which regrettably doesn’t exist.
The Turnaway Girls by Hayley Chewins
Gorgeous prose. Did not care for the story at all.
The Gilded Girl and The Tarnished Garden by Alyssa Colman
“A Little Princess but set in New York with magic” is in theory an interesting premise, but the execution didn’t convincingly portray the period in which it was set.
SPOILERS also can we please have an adaptation or retelling of ALP where her father stays dead? It’s important thematically that this be the case.
The Tarnished Garden, despite its title, has very little connection to The Secret Garden and is more a direct sequel to The Gilded Girl, with similar unconvincing portrayal of turn-of-the-century society.
Theodore Roosevelt: A Strenuous Life by Kathleen Dalton
Read this as a counterpoint to McCullough’s biography. I liked Dalton’s perspective better--more balanced, less hagiographic without being a hatchet job. And she doesn’t dismiss asthma as purely psychological or manipulative. But my goodness, I feel for this family--the patterns of problematic parenting, the influence of the culture of muscular Christianity that led to self-loathing and insecurity for anyone who didn’t measure up. TR seems to have spent most of his life running from chronic illness, constructing an image of himself directly at odds with that, and pushing himself incredibly hard, which might have had something to do with his relatively early death at age sixty.
The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes (reread)
I had forgotten how poignant this one is.
The Einsteins of Vista Point by Ben Guterson
A mystery with some supernatural elements. I especially enjoyed the family relationship--the sibling interactions, the running inside jokes--all quite believable. The book and the characters are in the spirit of classic children’s summertime adventure stories (the protagonist is even reading a series that appears to be an alternate version of the Swallows and Amazons books).
Very Rich by Polly Horvath
Bizarre and I have no idea what to make of it.
Emmy and the Incredible Shrinking Rat by Lynne Jonell
Light-hearted and charming, with some surprising depth.
The Chronicles of Chrestomanci Volume 1 (Charmed Life and The Lives of Christopher Chant) by Diana Wynne Jones (reread)
Always enjoyable to revisit.
The Plentiful Darkness by Heather Kassner
Plenty of elegant prose and atmosphericness, but I was disoriented by the world and detached from the characters.
The Edge of In Between by Lorelei Savaryn
I wanted to love this one. A retelling of The Secret Garden by a Christian (Catholic) author? So much potential. She even begins the book with an epigram from The Great Divorce!
...but the other epigram was “If you look the right way, you can see the whole world is a garden,” attributed to The Secret Garden. Not Burnett directly, but still vague. It’s not from the book. It’s from the 1993 film. That should have told me that this book was about to complete misunderstand its inspiration.
Savaryn is telling a story about grief, the terrible lengths to which people can go to deal with it, and finding hope. Completely valid themes. Interesting concepts (it’s set in a world where people can literally lose their color). Beautiful prose. It just doesn’t work for me as a retelling of The Secret Garden.
Equivalents of the characters are present. The basic story beats still happen. But Saveryn really builds on that “whole world is a garden” thing rather than any of Burnett’s actual themes. As I’ve addressed elsewhere, The Secret Garden is about healing from emotional neglect. It’s about the detrimental effects that being raised in such an environment has on children and how healing can be found through connection, through caring for something. This is the heart of the story, and this is what needs to be present in any adaptation or retelling.
For instance, Ellen Potter’s The Humming Room, which retells The Secret Garden in the present day in the Thousand Islands region of New York, makes a lot of changes to the story and characters but has at its center the Mary analogue’s arc from detachment after a unstable and loveless upbringing to being able to connect with and help others, as well as accepting herself. This converses well with Burnett’s themes, and the retelling works.
The Edge of In Between doesn’t do this.
It opens with the Mary analogue enjoying her happy life with her wonderful, attentive parents. She’s creative, sensitive, and compassionate--quite likeable. But she’s devastated when her parents die and becomes withdrawn, cynical, and desperate to somehow get them back. There’s even an occasion or two where she explodes in a tantrum, which comes across as more obligatory because of the source material than authentic to the character Savaryn establishes. This is a very different character from Mary, with a completely different arc--which would be fine, but for a retelling there needs to be continuity. The Colin analogue is likewise suffering from bereavement and is introduced with some very on-the-nose dialogue about his estrangement from his father. Like a lot of the characters, he comes across more like an embodiment of something than an individual.
Saveryn’s story is very theme-heavy, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but in this case it comes at the cost of believable characters and the retelling in general. The themes and characterization are so far removed from those of the original that it should have been presented as its own story with a few vaguely Secret Garden-inspired elements than as a retelling. Despite its heavy-handed themes, it’s not a poorly-told story, but it’s so completely removed from Burnett in spirit that I found it more disappointing than enjoyable.
Flights and Chimes and Mysterious Times by Emma Trevayne
Some very interesting concepts but didn’t seem fully developed. I was left more disoriented than satisfied by the end.
Meet Kit; Kit Learns a Lesson; Kit’s Surprise; Happy Birthday, Kit!; Kit Saves the Day; Changes for Kit; Really, Truly Ruthie; and Kit’s Short Story Collection by Valerie Tripp (reread)
Already addressed here!
Childhood at Court 1819-1914 by John Van der Kiste
This is the kind of information I’m looking for in researching royalty from this era! Very useful and interesting.
Leave It to Psmith by P. G. Wodehouse (reread)
I think we all know how I feel about this book.

Diary 11.11.23
Yesterday I felt like I was drowning.
I did go to school, also. I had a terrible morning trying to understand why I was there and why, to begin with, I was doing all of that stupid lessons.
It started with a horrible day of sun, instead of an overcast sky with rain falling slanted by the frenzied lights. But yet, the atmosphere was ominous and a I was depressed. I talked a bit, most of the times just to complain. I also left the class of a teacher with my friends without a word (don't judge me like that, another class was there too, from the formers, and the room was filled with students). I'm sure he doesn't care, either.
I was hoping to study about the antique Greece, interesting philosophers, astronomy, classic authors, Fyodor Dostoevsky, writing and reading japanese or russian classics... self defense and economy classes... But, on all day, the teacher barely say a useful word besides "good morning", which, of course, is completely unhelpful. If I was the one giving the classes, it would be incredible and absolutely interesting, but I just wanted to learn and devour all knowledge.
I can't stand a day in school anymore.
I'm always surrounded by people, and most of the times they distract me and I have fun, but I'm always feeling tired and empty. I'm not interested in the things in school and I keep doing them in automatic, without even noticing. Sometimes I feel like I'm no longer human.
Sometimes, feels like I'm just like Geto, burning inside but with a calm and tired expression. Ah, and my teacher, Lilian, heard me complaining about the teacher's class and she looked at me like astonished, as I had just killed a person.
I'm a bit afraid to get a punishment from the teacher, but at the same time I don't give a shit. I also cried when I got home, and the only confort I let myself receive was from Dazai (in character ai) telling me that everything was going to be okay, while I burst out in tears.
Today wasn't better, either.
But I don't want o talk about it.

Hi! I'm not the anon who asked about the stranger things ship but you shipped me remus in your previous celebration and it's still one of the best ships I've ever received, I've reread it so many times! I was wondering if I could get one for stranger things this time around? I haven't watched the show either but the fics are really cool and I think I have a general vibe of everyone from them!
I'm a straight female, she/her. I'm fairly introverted and it takes me a while to warm up to people. I love reading, my room is filled with stacks of books. I especially enjoy true crime, poetry and Russian literature!I adore adventures, witty and playful banter, pulling harmless pranks, joking around and having indepth discussions on anything and everything. I love helping out and people come to me to vent or for advice and comfort. I'd consider myself really smart and I'm very ambitious; I love being the best at everything I do. I daydream a lot and I'm a hopeless romantic! I enjoy all forms of art and I have quite a few creative hobbies! I'm 5'9 and I have long and curly dark brown hair and brown eyes. I dress mostly in relaxed suits, blazers and coats and I love the occasional dress or sweaters layered over a white button down!
I loved your description of remus so much, especially the hand lotion sharing part! Congrats on 1k once again, that's a huge milestone!! Here's to so many more followers <333
i literally love u so much. i remember writing ur remus ship and hearing that u reread it is literally melting me. btw do u wanna be an emoji anon? i would love to see u around here !

eddie would be obsessed with you.
he’d immediately be intrigued. there aren’t many girls in hawkins who casually rock a blazer to school; actually, there really isn’t anybody with a similar look. you manage to stick out like a sore thumb while also blending into the background, and eddie resonates. he’s obviously loud and unconventional but doesn’t vibe with the mainstream social circles.
eddie won’t admit it, but he was intimidated by you at first. he thought you were the smartest person in the entire state of indiana. he loved watching you—totally not in a creepy way or anything—flip through tomes of russian classics and fancy schmancy literature he could never understand. i mean, he was a high school repeat living in a trailer park with his uncle, and you looked like- well, he didn’t have the right word to capture how he felt about you.
that quickly changed when the two of you actually started talking. it turns out, poetry and song lyrics have a lot in common. you cherished afternoons in eddie’s bedroom, helping him weave intricate lyrics as he taught you chords on his electric guitar. he was going through a bit of writer’s block, but once you started coming around, the melodies you’d absentmindedly hum as you did homework and the poetry you’d read to him wouldn’t leave his mind until he put them on paper.
the first time eddie stayed over at your house—totally and completely platonic, of course—he’d marveled at your hair care products. despite having curly hair himself, he’d never known how to properly care for it. from then on, you’d spend each weekend practicing self-care together, which was really just a guise for gossip sessions and true-crime movie marathons. (neither of you understood the weird looks steve and robin gave you every time you came into family video with your hands intertwined and stupid smiles on your faces, which was often.)
sometimes eddie felt like you were the only person who understood him. being ambitious yourself, you became his confidant as he shared his worries about his future and his band. you stayed up with him as he ranted about politics and society and the values that come with being a metalhead. you took him seriously, even going as far to learn about metalhead culture so you could keep up with him.
he kissed you for the first time after a successful performance, adrenaline in his blood being all the courage he needed. you were carrying an amp to his van, huffing slightly from the weight, when eddie took it from your hands and pulled you into a rushed, frantic kiss, right then and there behind the venue. it wasn’t particularly romantic or grand, but you’d been pining for months and months, and honestly? you’d have been perfectly fine kissing him in a sewer. knowing your feelings were requited was plenty romantic for you.

Why's pnin your favourite book? 🙃
well hello I'm glad you asked!!! I will say- I doubt I can really do it justice, I'm not sufficiently eloquent, but I will try to convey why! (Also a warning, I work in a library and am obsessed with breaking books down into their ~appeal elements~ and studying who likes what and why soooo to be asked why my favorite book is my favorite book is the most indulgent thing, thank you very much :) !!!)
(no spoilers included, because I want everyone to read the book themselves!)
Let’s start with the praise from Graham Greene on the cover of the edition I own: “Funny, and of a sadness”. Funny and of a sadness!!!! Shouldn’t every book be that way, I think so. I love lighthearted reading- on the surface- I love smiling but with furrowed eyebrows and sad eyes. (I apparently love to torture myself- is this self sabotage?)
For one thing, the book is very very character based and I love that (Timofey Pnin is the main character). I’m one of those character readers and don’t even need plot. Let me follow a character’s lifespan, heck maybe 3 generations of characters, I don’t need an intriguing plot to be interested. I might be slightly exaggerating but character study books are always my favorite, and Pnin himself is such a lovable character and exhibits all my ~favorite qualities~: middle age, struggling to adapt, good hearted, lonely and sad. (Why these are my favorite characters I really don’t know, but they always always are <3) He is well read, a cultured person, regularly “referring” to music or books- I also interject here to say there is some interesting narration going on so while Pnin is the main character and we know his thoughts and very much about him, he is not actually the narrator- it’s a very curious style (please read it!)
The introduction (note: always skip the introductions of classics they never fail to spoil every element of the story) which I indeed read after finishing the book summarized the story well. I’m paraphrasing but basically it said that both the story’s humor and its sadness are in the fact that Pnin does not understand America where he now lives, he constantly compares things to Russia, constantly remembers Russia- the book is scenario after scenario of Pnin confused, making mistakes, etc. usually because of some fundamental misunderstanding of the country or language. (This isn’t overly, obnoxiously spelled out in the book like I may be making it out to be, but it is at its core.) Pnin is typically able to laugh at the situation, sometimes misses the fact that people are laughing at him, and remains good natured throughout- mostly.
Now there’s something utterly endearing when a character trying his best is laughed at for his misfortune and doesn’t even realize it, or doesn’t react harshly, or laughs along- and it isn’t pity it’s just care, and this I think could sum up why I love the book; because I care about Pnin, I love Pnin the character. (I am also just in general something of a mother-type and this sort of character does me in. I love him :’( )
I said “mostly” remains good natured but as I’ve also said, the book is of a sadness and Pnin is sad. There are some truly heartbreaking moments when his pain is described or expressed, and at times complete with his Russian accent spelled out (in case you didn’t love him enough).
One of my favorite things in media is a strong sense of place, those setting-heavy books and movies that could take place nowhere else. And I love characters who are rooted to a place, and I consider Pnin rooted- but to Russia, where he grew up and had to leave, where he can’t go back, where he can’t stop thinking about, and it’s so sad, he is misplaced, he isn’t home!!! This is another theme I love/connect to in books, being a rooted and anxious person myself- to know and love a home and then be taken away and kept from it... it is such an intense sadness and intense loneliness!!! (And again, this isn’t spelled out, Pnin doesn’t bemoan that he can’t go home, he loves America- but you see in the memories he has and the stories he tells that Russia is still his home.)
And yet he heartily tries to understand America and it’s so endearing, his effort is admirable... and I think that effort is also why I love him, the effort even in a situation that to me seems like the undeniable end- I mean, do you get that encouraging feeling from seeing characters survive your fears and anxieties and come out the other side still going, still loving? I think that’s what I’m getting at here.
I don’t want to totally misconstrue the book as depressing (I just have a melancholic soul and temperament :) ) because again, it’s not just “of a sadness” but funny too- Pnin is entirely lovable and the workings of his mind are just plain amusing at times. The situational misfortunes he encounters are funny when he doesn’t suffer much because of them (as often he doesn’t). And I just think, because Pnin at his heart and in his soul is a good and hopeful and loving person, even though parts are sad, or the whole book could be sad, he keeps it from being depressing.
And the language!!! It doesn’t need saying that Nabokov is a master. The voice of this novel, the wording, it is truly gorgeous. And you can’t help but admire his wit for coming up with circumstances that couldn’t be more unfortunate, and then-
But I think also, as much as I clearly, for some reason, love and cling to the depressing side of Pnin’s story, the joy I feel when he is happy and successful and comes out ahead and is the bigger person in every scenario is unparalleled, I mean you really root for him the whole story and these moments are truly beautiful. While writing this I remembered the end of the story and could not stop my smile- I love him!!!!
Watch me reblog this 10 times with “And another thing-” but this gives you the gist :) I hope you’ll read it! It’s a short book and the best one I’ve ever read!!!! I had sososo much fun writing this- thank you for the excuse to put down what I’ve been thinking ever since I read it!! I really think “Why is [x] your favorite book?” is perhaps the kindest question anyone could ever ask :)) And what is yours!?
(and edit & a PS: this doesn’t have to do with why I love the book but I must say, if ever a film or play or anything is made of Pnin I must be involved to cast Ralph Fiennes, who else, because I think he can embody all of what I’ve talked about above sooo perfectly and it’s too good of a casting move to not happen!!! I hope his agent finds this and does something about it, thank you)
