His thoughts were fixed on Richie again. He had always been brave. He had amazed Eddie with it over and over. He was honest too, you always knew what he had to say and what he was thinking. Although Eddie was starting to reconsider that now. He had never known Richie might have feelings for him of any kind, not until he had kissed him that night on the street.

He thought that might have been at least part of why he had panicked. It was a shock to his system completely and it had taken all night for him to even process it. It had been a night much like the hour or two last night, laying and staring at his ceiling as he tried to understand. Richie always had the capacity to be unpredictable but kissing him like that? No, that was something new. It felt like he had met a part of Richie that night and he had slammed the door in his face.

Yet, Eddie couldn’t imagine doing anything different. Different was scary. Different was dirty and wrong, that’s what his mom said. Eddie had worked hard to shove away any and all of those feelings. Richie was making him come face to face with them now and it was terrifying. He wondered if Richie had these fears too. Was he out? Some things he had said and done didn’t seem like it but he seemed so much more confident than Eddie could ever dream of being, especially about this.

The thing was that Eddie had always liked Richie’s attention on him but told himself over and over that he didn’t or that it didn’t mean a damn thing. That night he realized that wasn’t true and it scared him more than words could ever say.

Eddie is a horrible, awful, absolutely despicable human being.

But in his defense, tele-therepy should be illegal for anyone as loud as Richie Tozier.

Eddie wasn’t trying to overhear Richie’s session, honest! But the laundry room is right next to Richie’s office, and when Richie wears his headphones, he has an even harder time controlling the volume of his voice than normal, allowing Eddie to hear just about everything said on Richie’s side of the conversation.

Eddie was in the process of switching over his whites from the washer to dryer when he hears him, muffled but unmistakable, in the next room.

“I mean, I can’t just tell him,” Richie says. And after a beat, totally scandalized and kind of bitchy, answers, “Uh, he could hear me?”

Eddie snorts to himself at that, tossing a pair of briefs into the dryer.

“He doesn’t,” Richie says now, matter-of-factly. “He won’t.”

Eddie tries to hurry along the process a little, beginning to feel guilty about ease-dropping, but the next thing he hears gives him pause, despite himself.

“I don’t want to ruin what we have with my stupid feelings. I just got him back, the last thing I want to do is push him away again.”

Methodically, Eddie shakes out a dress shirt, slower and quieter than usual. For….no reason.

“I’m not ‘using negative self-talk’,” Richie gasps, offended, “I’m being honest with myself, which is something you told me I need to practice in my day-to-day, Julie.”

Eddie rolls his eyes, absolutely siding with Julie on this one. Richie has the worst habit of going down doom spirals, concocting ridiculous and unfounded hypothetical scenarios to talk himself out of believing anything that could make him feel joy.

It’s infuriating, especially because Eddie knows he does the same.

“You’d understand if you met him,” Richie continues, sounding sad and almost…wistful? “There’s no way Eddie could love me back.”

Eddie immediately slams the dryer door shut and bolts from the room, not even turning the dryer on in his haste to get as far away as quickly as possible, overcome in a mixture of guilt, shock, panic, and, he flushes, excitement.

Holy shit.

It AU

so like... AU where instead of Bev getting taken beyond Pennywise and caught in the deadlights it's Stan. Which would really strike a nerve because he was the least willing to fight IT anyway.

So obviously Bill is the one to break the curse and kiss Stan because #stenbroughforlife. Which would mean you could put a better focus on building up young Benverly and making them a stronger foundation for their future relationship.

Anyway so when Stan sees into the future he sees him and Bill married. So we get not one but two young Stenbrough kisses. A bitter-sweet parting for Ben and Bev, and Reddie get to be in all their usual glory. Meanwhile we get to stan Mike, our AroAce king.

Then fast-forward 27 years and when Mike calls Bill and Stan, Bill doesn't remember about Pennywise. I'm imaging they have and interaction like:

Stan: I can't go, Billy.

Bill: We s-swore, Stanley. That we-we'd go back. I do-don't remember why, but we s-sw-swore.

Stan: But I'm scared, Bill. Something bad happened in Derry.

Bill: We'll m-made it Stan. We'll make it a-again. I p-p-promise. I s-swear.

So Stan lives and he also saves Eddie because Stan is fricken smart like that and he realises that they need to move tf away Eddie! Then all the losers roast the shit out of Pennywise.

They go swimming at the quarry, Ben and Bev finally get together after a more developed build up on both sides. Richie and Eddie have a moment. Bill and Stan are just sitting quietly.

Bill: We m-made it.

Stan: We swore we would.

The whole group has a beautiful group hug. Then the epilogue is narrated partly by all the losers. At the kissing Bridge scene Richie re-carves the E and Eddie re-carves the R and they both carve the +.

Mike goes to California, where he has the time of his life. Ben and Bev have their usual scene. Stan finally gets to release his documentary on birds. Bill publishes a new book, IT. Everyone praises the end.
