Socio-Biological take on wolfstar as wolf and dog ship and how the assumption ppl make about canine behavior apply to the dynamic:

People assume that dogs are more subservient and that wolves are, by default, more aggressive.

However, that isn't true. Wolves are not as trainable as dogs, but wild dogs are just as aggressive as wolves and are usually cleverer and more dangerous.

The second assumption is about the idea of canine pack dynamics - the whole alpha wolf/dog thing. Most ppl don't know that the paper that popularized the term was a misinterpretation.

I think it's very telling how people make the ‘dog person’ the one in need of constant validation, the stupider and weaker one. Someone who needs to be 'trained’ to get affection and enjoys being subservient to the right master. Someone will take abuse and will crawl back apologizing. Thinking that dogs are inherently lesser than wolves because of domestication and finding the idea of a dog being ‘Alpha’ to a wolf unthinkable.

On the other hand, wolves are both demonized and sexualized for being wild and dangerous. So the wolf person is the one who is attractively aggressive and dangerous. Is the one in control, who can not be controlled or contained, and justified in his aggressions and derision for domestication. So the idea of that person being subversive, soft and kind, willingly following others doesn't fit. They see domestication as weakness.

I kinda want a fic where people push these assumptions at wolfstar, who have personal experience of being canine, and they don't get it. But alas.

Breed that old man 2024 bonus:

Gray wolves and dogs are capable of producing fertile offspring when mating. Wolfdogs and mixed packs are a common occurrence where dogs and wolves share space, and packs are mostly parents and their pups.

I vote for letting Sirius knock up Remus with a whole litter of wolfdog puppies, starting a pack of their own. Cute as hell babies, and growling at ppl making stupid assumptions about the relationship and the pups. No, Remus isn't submissive to him, just his mate. Why do you think it's odd that Remus is the carrier parent?? And actually, don't you know inbreeding is bad?? His pups will be amazing because they are not ‘Pure breeds’.

Remus is shy but pretty smug because. His babies will be smart like his mate. And he wants a hugeeee pack. Lots of babies. Will show off that big belly every chance he has, and every single pup after they are born. Why the hell should he be embarrassed of his mate? He is so clever and so loyal and the best dad.

ALL OF THIS. Sorry it took me all day to post this, but this was the best thing to wake up to on my birthday and I got to spend the day marinating on it, thank you so much. I love all of this and also I hope this causes much chaos in the Wolfstar tag.

Can't choose my fav but comfort book is Red, White and Royal Blue. And the last book that deeply impacted my soul was The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.

This post probably makes no sense and no one cares about it, but I'll do it anyway.

For a while, I've been OBSESSED with both MDZS/The Untamed and The Marauders. So naturally, I'd love to imagine what if MDSZ characters were adapted in The Marauders universe (but not all the characters would stay the same who they were in the book/series because I believe people would change if their lives were different).

Wei Wuxian as James Potter. It's obvious. They are both like the sun and the whole universe centers around them. They are both so brave, caring, loyal to their friends/family and have a strong belief in justice, what's right and wrong. Freaking golden retrievers. King of simping and obviousness. Dumbasses. Absolutely chaotic and mischief. Protective. Died young. The way WWX bullied JZX reminded me so much of James bullied the hell out of Snape because "I'm sooooo done with your nose-high attitude" and "you don't deserve the girl I care about" (Jiang Yanli / Lily).

Jin Guangyao as Sirius Black. This is odd, because their personality seems completely opposite, but hear me out. The entire tragedy of their lives was about their abusive messed up family, the toxic upbringing and discovering who they wanted to be. While Sirius despised his family with every inch in his body and rebelled against them, JGY desperately craved for his family's approval and recognition that caused him to make mistakes after mistakes and turned him into a horrible person. But despite how hard they try to prove, the world would always judge and easily having prejudice against them for where they came from - Sirius for being a Black and JGY for being a prostitute's son. But what's missing here, JGY never had a "James", never had a soulmate who truly saw him, believed in him and caught him when he fell. So what if he did? I can totally picture him fitting the rebellious vibes of Wei Wuxian, along with being a petty dramatic bitch and still thoughtful and gentle (while totally being capable of murdering people who annoy him). And most importantly, SHORT lol. Big QUEER/GAY energy. His charm and his beauty are his two biggest qualities. Having so much potential and could do impossible things if the world let them shine.

Xue Yang as Remus Lupin. Another interesting contrary but completely fitting in. As people have different ideas about the person Remus was when he was young, but in my head Remus would totally be the person XY grows into if he'd had a little support system and wasn't thrown into the street when he was a child. Meanwhile, the pure animal-instinct cruelty of Xue Yang reminded me of Remus's wolf side, how Remus would've ended up if he’d unleashed his "madness within". Casting it aside, despite his murderous tendency, you couldn't deny that XY is the most interesting character in MDZS, as well as Remus is. Remus is adored by most people in the fandom, while XY, as much as a lot of people hated him and wanted him dead, they could help but feeling intrigued by him. They just had that charm. Moreover, they also had a lot similarities: sarcastic, smartass genius, wearing their own insecurities and flaws as an armor, highly intolerance of pain and having a lot of scars, stubborn af, craving for sweets and could only open himself and be devoted to specific people he cared about/cared about/being nice to him.

(And JGY is the only person in the world who XY never hurt even after JGY tried to kill him and left him for dead, they are the only person who could see and truly accept one another - I ship both Wolfstar and XueYao btw)

Nie Huaisang as Peter Pettigrew. It's obvious as well, they both screamed the "I looked like a fool but actually could stab you in the back and ended your whole career" energy. Coward energy. Underestimated and left out. Basically the whole dynamic between JGY-NHS and Sirius-Peter was mostly a pattern: Best friends once, then going down to betray and kill each other's family (James and NMJ). Besides, James-Peter and WWX-NHS were once the partners-in-crime duos before the war came and ruined them.

the most terrible ship in Hp purely because its stans think is the cutest,healthiest is wolfstar. Sirius and Remus are not compatible at all unless you change their personalities into something unrecognisable like wolfstar shippers do for the ship to work. Soulmates?lmfao they barely qualify as friends. Imagine thinking your lover whom you supposedly trust and love so much is the traitor who murdered his bestfriend and his fam??they are not cute,soft gay,hurt babies like fandom crazies think.

Yep. I can’t even use a reason like “but they’re like siblings, I can’t see them that way” like I do with Harmony, CAUSE THEY’RE NOT EVEN FRIENDS.😭 Sirius literally used Remus as a murder weapon. Like at least Harry and Hermione genuinely loved one another and were friends.

Wolfstar’s characterisation of Sirius and Remus is just so insulting to both characters. Canon Black and canon Remus are extremely interesting and flawed characters, but Wolfstar’s version of them have their only personality traits being super gay for each other, and that’s it. -_-

The uwu-ness of that ship is so sickening.

Ships and Feels about them

HUGE self-indulgent post but my brain is frozen and I need to get the juices flowing so I can start studying, because if I don’t get into the college I want I just might have to kill myself and then y’all can say bye-bye to your fav fics by your majesty.

YoruSoi- status: worSHIPPING (geddit? XD) them like the goddesses they are

I regularly play Wicked Ones by Dorothy and just imagine these two tag-teaming against their opponents, like the crazy, badass, ninja lesbians they are. It fucking gives me goosebumps and makes me blush like I am imagining them rawing each other instead. I am a big time SUCKER for powerful, cut-throat wlw. They make me feel powerful by extension, and my devotion for these two is completely unparalleled.

VictUuri- status: will protect them with my life

First of all, I love how layered and interesting they are. I can think about this show and this ship for hours and hours on end ( @feastingonvicturi will vouch for that). I naturally gravitate towards angsty ships and writing (because I am a weird sado-maso cross, what can I say) except for these two fluffy bastards. I had been putting off watching YOI because of the weird things I had read about ‘yaoi’ animes (IK YOI is not yaoi, now) till someone told me how pure and deep their love for each other was and welp, here we are.

RenRuki- status: comfort ship I’ll defend till death

It was one of my first ships and even as I multi-shipper, I always had a preference for them. Childhood-friends-to-lovers trope tugs on my heartstrings like little else and Renji’s devotion towards Rukia warms my heart. I hear them in nearly every song, imagine them in every scenario I read or write about and even though I have multiple ships I adore involving Rukia and Renji both, the two together is everything to me. (Presently obsessed with the amazing hcs and art by @recurring-polynya you might wanna check them out)

KaiRay- status: heart is taking a break, but remains firmly attached

I got into Beyblade BECAUSE of this ship, because of the moments these two shared in V-Force that I caught glimpses of when my younger siblings were watching the show. I love Kai and Ray’s dynamic and I guess what attracts me the most to this ship is the fact that as a teenager I was exactly like Kai and had my own personal Ray who got me through the worst in life. I love the sense of sweet nostalgia this couple brings me and I believe they are perfect for each other.

MariahEmily- status: coffee shop AU, anyone?

I was HUGE on MariahxRay but strong, stylish, kinda bitchy, dumb thot falling for the highly educated and fierce lady boss she doesn’t really know how to approach is another one of my favourite tropes, (see: PansMione, down under). I saw them interact and due to personal reasons my brain rejects petty rivalry between girls (because we’re all tired of that, children, be honest) and immediately tries to fix it in fanon. ( @trashyartz and her beautiful drawings had a lot to do with fanning these flames.)

ShunUki- status: want them to adopt me

Need I say more? No, but I wanna. I love the steady, secure vibes of this ship. This is the one ship I physically can’t write angsty shit about because of the level of understanding and sense of comfort these two share. They give me kind and strong dad vibes and I have emotionally been an orphan since I was in my early teens so.

WolfStar- status: they’re canon, JKR can suck my toes

Listen, listen, have you been listening? I mentioned I am a sucker for angst, right? Are you looking at the angst potential here, cause wow. What originally attracted me to this ship was the Chemistry between the two, cause it’s undeniable. You can NOT imagine Maurauders’ Era without imaging these two pining over each other. It’s impossible.

PansMione- status: toxic and problematic, but oh so hot

I got on this ship because I was craving some quality wlw ships. You guys’ I can not explain to you how often female characters in shows and books do not pass the Bechdel test and I stumbled on some gorgeous PansMione art and just fell in love. IK this ship is hella problematic, but I am firm on my stance that the baby Slytherins deserve a redemption arc.

Can you imagine these two after Pansy realises everything she did wrong and vows to be better? I imagine Hermione stumbling on a hurt and confused Pansy in year 8, who can’t stop her tears from flowing and is so ashamed of herself for that. She is feeling guilty and resisting the emotion with everything she possesses because the world she’d always known has crumbled down around her and everything she believed in has now been proven to be wrong.

She lashes out at Hermione because how dare that smart, gorgeous, courageous girl also be everything Pansy once thought she was? How dare she, a muggleborn, unravel the complicated threads of the wizard world so quickly, so efficiently, and clearly see what Pansy never could? Pansy is hurt and guilty and angry and she hates the fact that fucking Granger of all people has now witnessed her crying.

She feels lost and her anger only rages louder when Hermione doesn’t gloat or belittle her, she doesn’t say anything.

(Why is this turning into a ficlet, WHAT)

Anyways, Pansy gets over herself and she and Hermione get together and oh my god, imagine them then. Smart, powerful, righteous Hermione taking the fucking Wizarding World by a storm every single day with her sexy, vivacious, clever Pansy by her side. They’d be unstoppable and they’d love each other something fierce. It would show in the way they look at each other, with a sense of victory, not only over Voldemort but over the entire Wizarding society that had done everything it could to tear them apart, and ultimately failed.

(BONUS: Imagine Ron and Harry being utter dorks when they go to Pride parades with Hermione and let the image cleanse your skin and soul. @feastingonvicturi @trashyartz one of you (or both?) needs to collab with me so I can write a fix it fic for these two, please. I will pledge my soul to the devil to be used and abused as per Trashy’s whims in exchange. Taura will do it cause she’s my best friend and loves me more than I deserve to be loved.)

(In conclusion, I adore every single one of these ships and am willing to slice a bitch’s throat to protect their honour. Except for YoruSoi, they are fictional characters IK but I am convinced they do not need anybody’s protection, least of all this dumb fuck’s and just might laugh at the very idea.)

i feel like i have a lot of opinions that are popular opinions, and fuck terfs, but nonetheless:

regulus black would have been the perfect example of a brave slytherin that albus was named after

arthur, hagrid, or remus could have served as other father figures instead of albus; tell me hagrid would not burst into tears upon hearing his child was named after him? also, arthur, for both ginny and harry!

i read the occasional drarry fic but it has to be very, very well-written; or, at least, it has to have the understanding that draco has to go through some sort of redemption, either through atoning for his own actions, or an au in which he already has—some fics make him the next-gen spy, a bit like snape

uh, draco and dudley are perfect foils, and people would simp after dudley if he was as “conventionally attractive” as tom felton

dudley had more of a canon redemption arc than draco did

fatphobia is rampant in the series—villains are the vast majority of fat rep, and even good fat characters like molly or hagrid still have faults (hagrid is “big and dumb,” a bit like dudley tbh, and molly is kind of just? a Mother? like that’s her defining character trait. nothing wrong with being a stay at home mom if that’s what you want, of course, it’s just that molly didn’t have much of a personality outside of her children until the later books.)

misogyny too—molly was so mean to hermione in the fourth book and fleur in the sixth, ginny was mean to fleur too, hermione gives off “not like other girls” energy especially concerning lavender and pavarti

poc harry and hermione—sure, jkr says she’s cool with it, but she gets a lot of credit for the bare minimum. she could have written them that way.

wish hufflepuffs had more house rep, in general, they mostly just get cedric, and i wish that “good slytherins” were expounded upon, especially concerning the whole “no slytherins stayed” for the final battle you cannot TELL ME that there wasn’t ONE slytherin who had ambitions to fight voldemort

cho, angelina, and ginny are all overhated; movie!ginny was albeit lacking a lot of the Spice of book ginny, and movie cho got shorted bc they didn’t include marietta as the betrayer of the da, but like. god. pls chill ppl

albus probably considered that sirius was innocent but decided to leave him in azkaban, even though he didn’t know for sure; albus probably also laid out the traps for the stone with eleven-year-olds in mind, just in case harry wanted to try and prove himself; albus was behind a lot of the machinations, and at the very least he left a child to be abused for years on end

i wrote a ten page essay on why snape is a garbage person for that college class i mentioned. i got a perfect score.

like seriously i could talk about how much snape sucks and why him having a crush on lily isn’t redemption, but like. we get it. c’mon. “i see no difference,” threatening to kill a student’s beloved pet, being that student’s worst fear....... come on.

(the completely unwilling participants on) the bachelor: james is the first british bachelor; lily is a journalist who is sent on the show, undercover, by her shitty boss. james/lily

swung by serafim: a characterization of snape that i do not completely hate; i avoid the last two chapters, bc i do not like snarry, it squicks me out, and i didn’t see the tags for it until the very end of the work since it gets more textual in those chapters, and also it involves real life events that feels a bit strange to write about in fic, but. that’s just me. i think there’s cho/harry/cedric in there?

turn: genuinely just one of the best-written harry potter fanfics i’ve ever read. harry after the epilogue gets sent to an alternate universe where things went a little different. drarry

the debt of time: obligatory “hermione gets sent back in time to the marauders” fic; these were super popular on fanfic.net, where i started out, but i read this recently and really really enjoyed it. sirius/hermione, remus/hermione

the pure and simple truth: everyone goes out to a bar. drarry, romione

hogwarts, to welcome you home: harry as the dada professor from mcgonagall’s perspective

stealing harry: sirius never went to azkaban, but harry still went to the dursleys for a bit. it’s written up to part of the third book, but it has notes for how the rest of the series would have turned out. wolfstar

hermione granger’s hogwarts crammer for delinquents on the run: if harry was told he was a wizard at age seventeen, instead of age eleven. drarry

the reclamation of black magic: harry’s grandmother dorea was in a coma and never died. now she’s come to adopt her grandson and seek a reckoning on the wizarding world. this is unfinished and is in harry’s first year; sirius black/remus, for a bit, but also remus/female oc and sirius/male oc; probably harry/hermione, by the end of it.

Gonna take a page out of the other anon's book and ask you to do all the harry potter questions...

so this took forever, but i’ve finally finished them all (and of course pasting them fucked up the formatting fml) Amortentia: Talk about 3 things you love.

- I love languages, I love being able to see into someone’s soul by talking the language of their heart. I love the different sides of my identity that emerge with different languages, how you can only see fragments of my whole soul without comprehension of each language that forms a part of my heart.

- I love the LGBT community, love feeling free and whole and myself. I love seeing people realise who they are and seeing unabashed, queer love in the face of a world that does not want us. I love seeing that we are stronger together and that no one can take our identities away, no matter how much they try. I love seeing boys fall in love with boys and girls fall for girls for the first time.

- I love the pure, unadulterated joy of learning, of education and finding out something new. The feeling of discovery and the sensation of having accomplished something when you understand a new concept is incomparable.

Ageing Potion: imagine yourself 50-60 years from now. how would you like a typical day to go? where do you see yourself?

In fifty years, my body would be my own, covered in marks from misadventure and splashes of colourful memories. At 61, my kids would be grown up and moved out, my house would be filled with a different kind of sound, with puppies and bunnies and any other pets that fit. I hope I’d have a man to share this life with, we spend our weekends baking and devising obstacle courses for the pets to fall over, getting calls from our kids on how to be an adult (as if we’ve figured that out, even at our age). My sisters still haven’t let go of the habit of calling me a kid, and I try to see them when I can. The seasons change, the leaves fall, and I spend them all, content.

Well we’re gonna stick with creative writing so: I had a dream about us, both in matching suits. We were dancing at sunset, holding each other close as the songs played on. I woke up happy and content, and then I remembered that you weren’t mine anymore. You’re dancing with someone else while I sit, sobbing in my bed, longing for what should have been our future. I went through my room, finding every little thing that belonged to you, and put them to one side, in case you ever wanted them back. Holding on to the hope of one last conversation I guess. I miss you, and I hate you. And I love you. It hurts so much, like my heart stayed with you and I won’t last long without it.

Okay we’re gonna go for 3 people (all of whom have featured in poems of mine) - I started off writing about 5 and then got bored (and also vaguely embarrassed about calling people best friends) so we’re going down to three I’m also gonna make it vague ish So the first is a friend I’ve known for ten years and we’ve been equal parts immature and grown up throughout those ten years - last time I saw her we went to a inflatable park and then to spoons. She’s funny and sweet and chaotic and a lot shorter than I think (she used to be a head taller than me but hasn’t grown since we met, so even though we’re the same height neither of us quite believes it). She’s talented and reliable and So very committed to being a good friend (she drove to pick my ex and I up from a festival so she could meet him and took a 3-4 hour train to come celebrate my 21st). The second is possibly the first friend I made at uni because we bonded over being terrified of going to Russia and now we communicate almost solely through animal crossing. I love her, she’s hilarious, about as much of a mess as I am and an incredibly sweet person. She’s the first person I text in a crisis because she knows the exact right balance of taking the piss and actually helping and is always available to talk in foreign when I need to forget about the people I’m with or avoid an ex lol. The third is one of my favourite people at uni, he’s super supportive and understanding but also the best fucking person for a night out or a laugh. Ummmm hard to say??? favorites are. impossible. right now i’m fully back into StormPilot tho because Star Wars got me back in its grips, and also queerplatonic!JediStormPilot (bc i love Finn and Poe being romantic as heck together, but my bby Rey is v aroace and v happy to queerplatonically cuddle with her two dork boyfriends or fall asleep on Finn’s shoulder.

Then there’s also Ringsy (Ringo and Easy from Unter Uns) which is trash, and i’m fully aware it’s trash, but anyone following me can see that i also completely sold my soul to this ship whoops i live for my asshole bi boy and my pure gay cinnamon roll and i got no regrets

but i guess when it comes to all time/long time faves, I also have to say George Squared from Call Me Katie, and WolfStar (Remus and Sirius) from Harry Potter.

uuuhhhhh *sweating nervously* my very first ship, before i even knew what shipping was, was Lisa/Rokko from Verliebt in Berlin (for anyone who doesn’t know: that was the german telenovela version of Ugly Betty).

my first proper ship after that was Draco/Harry. yupppp i was one of those people………

is there a ship that you used to ship, but don’t anymore?

Drarry is definitely one of those. I also used to ship a couple of rarepairs in HP that i don’t really care for anymore, like Ron/Draco, Ron/Blaise Zabini, Remus/Severus (cringeworthy, i know, but to my defense, that was before half blood prince) and stuff like that. I also used to ship Johnlock a lot, but I lost interest in BBC Sherlock, so i don’t really care anymore.

what’s a ship you like that most people don’t?

ummm Jonathan/Steve/Nancy from Stranger Things maybe? And Nancy/Barb. Oh and Rory/Jess in Gilmore Girls - which, I know, there are loads of people who ship that, but there are also loads of people who have a very strong opinion against that ship.

Also, maybe Cho/Harry/Cedric?? Idk how most people feel about that, it’s not a very well known ship or anything, and I mostly ship Harry with Ginny anyway, but I do like the idea of their dynamics.

and ummmm this probably doesn’t count, but in the webseries Project Green Gables, I ship Anne with Reggie Gardner, which. Ummm. Reggie Gardner is not really a character that exists yet, but it’s just my version of how I imagine Roy Gardner in this adaptation of Anne of Green Gables. It’s not really fair to say that other people don’t like this ship because how can they, if this character only exists in a few of my posts but not really in the show??? but anyway, doesn’t matter, because Anne/Gil is still OTP and they’re definitely endgame

huh. well I guess I don’t really hate it, but like i said before, to me, Rey is aroace, so I don’t really care for romantic/sexual FinnRey. but like, everyone, do your thing.

oh, but i definitely don’t like mike/el in Stranger Things. I haven’t seen s2 yet, but uuuggghhhh it just weirds me out and makes me uncomfortable, the way heteronormativity gets pushed on El, who would be the perfect character to explore breaking boundaries beyond the binary and the normative rules of society about girlhood and sexuality and all that.

what is the most underrated ship, in your opinion?

Basically, all femslash ships??? Like, I used to love MorGwen back in my Merlin days, but there was so little content for them, and while I love Merthur, too, it was extremely unbalanced.

Also very underrated: friend-ships. like damn, i friend-ship Joan and Sherlock in Elementary so much!!! I dig all the friendships in B99!!! I need more friend fic!!!

what is the most overrated ship, in your opinion?

ummm idk probably johnlock and destiel?? this is definitely nothing against people who ship it. i have shipped both of these. i just got tired of seeing people fall for the queerbaiting, and still holding on to impossible hope. I get how we’re all desperate for representation, and it’s absolutely vile to drag us into shows with promising pairs and amazing chemistry, and then just teasing us for eternity without ever going through with anything - i get that’s not the fault of the shippers. but i’m just tired of queerbait ships. give me real queer representation damnit!!

oh, also kylux. I’m just not feeling it?? honestly, Hux hates Kylo, and Kylo is an angry manbaby, there’s just nothing appealing about this ship to me at all.
