What are you updating next?
My phone…
Tumblr media
I honestly have no idea, Anon. The next chapter of Outside Chance is the closest to being ready to update, but it’s been sitting in the same state since August soooooo yeah. I’ve been in a Spellbound frame of mind lately but all I have for that next chapter are notes and my outline. Being in school with the end of semester looming takes up a lot of my time so I can’t really say which one I’ll have time for, if either of those. Where the Stars is…. A hot mess currently and I don’t have the time or brain power to unmess it right now. And honestly, sometimes Savannah likes to just randomly drop by for tea and a chat in my brain and I suddenly wind up with like three chapters of Outside Expectations written sooooo…. I have no freaking clue.

🦄DON'T DELAY🦄
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why delaying bruh😀what the actual heck are yall waiting for? Manifested it NOW,CLAIM IT NOWW,there is NO right time to affirm,visualize,script or being,DO IT NOW,literally just do it just because you have figured out how to manifest doesn't mean you'll do it later,do it right now you'll end up regretting later: "he/she have my sp","they are shifting and entering void","they have their desires life","oh no i should've affirm before for better marks". You endup being in the same circle: procrastinate—>then feel guilty—>frustrate—>overconsume—>procrastinate 😀
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had the same mindset and I'm telling this will make your journey way longer then it should be. OK some people might have a hard time understand easily but once it click,it should be instant for you to start manifest. You know EVERYTHING literally every single thing,but it's either you doubt you're applying it wrong or you just get over confident that you'll manifest it because they have to manifest it later,YOU do know know that time doesn't exist right and then start procrastinating some even left their jobs and then cry💀bro what even were you thinking darling gurly. Manifesting is very simple guys you just have to persist once you do that,see how the 3D conform to you on it's own,sometimes even the thought that manifestation is easy makes it hard for us to believe that we can manifest something so easily,I also used to think that it can't be that easy but here i am shifting realities becauseIT IS. 3d IS waiting for YOU to,NOT YOU waiting for 3d😞.
Just think about it once again you could've spend your last few weeks or days,affirming, persisting,being,doing SATS consistently and just maybe TODAY you would've been enjoying your trip in Europe,getting proposed by your SP,shifting to Hogwarts,meeting you celeb SP,buying all your favorite things you have saved in Pinterest😮‍💨,but instead you're here laying on your bed,reading this shit ass post you wouldn't be reading if you had manifest your dream life. Damn girl you could be enjoying all your fantasies right now😭😭😭 don't delay and procrastinate please girls and boys.

Hey!! I saw that you are taking requests (I also want to procrastinate studying, lol), so I thought I would request a Rafe oneshot where maybe he is helping his girlfriend move into her dorm and a bunch of frat guys start hitting on her and asking if she needs help and he gets all territorial and jealous? Just some cute fluff? Please and thank you, lovely!!!
Move-in day || R. C.
summary: Rafe helps you move in to your dorm but becomes territorial when a guy doesn't get the hint.
word count: 1.3k
a/n: i'm not sure i like this one but bare with me i haven't written anything in more then a year so, thank you sm for the request!!! i love how all of you are supporting my procrastination and/or procrastinating yourself haha
warnings: some guy
Tumblr media
You unlock the door, revealing your dorm room. It’s very basic and bland but you can’t wait to start decorating it to make it feel more like home and a safe space for you to relax in. There are two single beds on each side of the room. Also two closets and tables for you and your roommate who hadn’t moved in yet. Your roommate was assigned to you by the school since you didn’t have any friends or acquaintances that were also going to this college. You’d much rather share a room with someone you know but it is what it is.
You choose a side of the room and sit on the edge of your new bed, looking around the room and taking everything in. You can’t believe you’re actually here. After all the hard work and applying to many different colleges, you got into your dream school. You’d only dreamed about this place in your head and now you’re physically here.
You then leave the room and on your way outside you dial Rafe who dropped you off and then went to find a good parking spot near the housing.
“Yeah?” he answers the call.
“Where are you?”
He describes where he parked his car and directs you to him. You already see him from across the parking lot and give him a wave, which he returns with a big smile and a wave of his own.
The trunk of his car is popped open and he’s already stacking boxes into the carts provided by the school.
“How was it?” he asks as soon as you reach him, referring to the room.
“Pretty okay.” You shrug and grab a few bags from the back seat, slinging them over your shoulders. Then you manage to grab a box of your books as well. It’s heavy but the room is not that far away.
“Are you sure you can carry that much?” he calls after you.
“It’s rude to call your girlfriend weak, Rafe.”
“I’m not calling you weak!” he defends himself.
“Yeah, right,” you laugh. “Third floor, 5th door on the right.”
You leave him unloading the car in the parking lot while you make your way back to the building. On the way to the third floor, you bump into some guys on the staircase.
“Hey! Need any help with that?” one of them asks, hands already outstretched. Since your shoulders are already hurting because of the weight of the stuff you’re carrying, you accept his help. What were you thinking taking the stairs? The elevator was right there.
He takes the box from your hands and lets out a grunt. “Damn, that’s heavy! What’s in here?” he starts making his way up the stairs and you follow, adjusting the straps of the duffle bags on your shoulders. The dude’s friends follow you two, whispering something unintelligible behind your back but they’re too quiet to make out what they’re actually saying.
“My books.”
The guy chuckles and asks where your room is. You tell him and soon enough you reach the third floor. He pushes open the door leading to the third floor dorms and holds it open for you while you scramble past him to your door. You fish out the key from the pocket of your pants and open the door.
“You can just put it on the table.” I let the guy into my room while his friends linger in the doorway.
Thanking him, you throw the bags on your bed. He places the box gently on the table and then turns to you. “What’s your name?”
“Y/N.” You give him an awkward but polite smile, hoping he’d get the hint and leave now but he leans against the desk, crossing his arms on his chest instead. He looks like he’s not planning to go anywhere.
“You wanna come to a party tonight, Y/N? Bunch of upperclassmen are throwing a little party for the freshmen. You could be my date.”
You stare at him, eyes wide. “Uhmm, thank you for the invite but no. I have a lot to unpack and-”
“Oh come on!” he interrupts. “We could have fun and get to know each other. And drink.”
“No, thank you. I appreciate your help and all but I think you should go now.”
“Don’t be like that! You haven’t even given me a chance.”
“You will not get a chance either way. I have a boyfriend.”
“So? You’re in college now, let loose. He doesn’t have to know. ”
Meanwhile Rafe has finally made it to the third floor with the two carts full of your belongings. He pushes them out of the elevator and towards your room. Already from the elevator he can see two guys standing at your door, which he finds very suspicious. He faintly hears the conversation going on in your room and his blood starts to boil. When the two guys standing there notice him arriving, they scurry off and Rafe scoffs before entering your room.
“Know what?”
The guy leaning on your desk is startled and he stands up, not so cocky anymore. “Uhh…”
Rafe now stands between you and the guy whose name you don’t even know. He straightens his back and stares him down with that mean look he has but which he has never used on you. The other guy is obviously intimidated by him since Rafe is basically towering over his shorter frame.
“She said no. She has a boyfriend. So I suggest you leave before I punch you in the face so hard no girl will even look in your direction ever again,” Rafe growls.
“Whatever she’s not worth it anyways.” The guy shrugs and turns to leave. Rafe’s fists are clenched by his side and he looks like he’s about to strike when you place your hand on his back, making him look at you over his shoulder.
“Drop it.” Rafe takes a deep breath and you feel his shoulders relax under your touch.
The guy lets out a scoff as he leaves but Rafe’s eyes remain on you. “Are you okay?” he asks, worry laced in his voice as he turns to face you, hands now on your shoulders.
“I’m fine. He just helped me with my books and he got the wrong idea.”
“A very wrong one at that. I was so close to punching him in his stupid face for even talking to you in the first place.”
You place your hand on his chest, feeling his heart beat under your palm. “You can’t stop every guy from talking to me. You’re not even here most of the time.”
“Watch me.”
“Rafe.”
He rolls his eyes.
“I’m serious. But he was a jerk anyway. I go for non-jerk guys.” Your lips are turned into a slight smirk.
“Do you now?”
“Yeah.”
“Am I not a jerk?” he asks, hands sliding down to your hips, pulling you flush against him.
“Oh, you definitely are, but just not to me.”
“I’d never be a jerk to you. You know that, baby. But you’re mine. I can’t stand the thought of guys like him talking to you.” He lets out a frustrated sigh.
“I know but I can handle myself.”
“I know you do.” But the next time he visits, he hands you a little box which contains a necklace with his name so everyone knows you’re taken.

Bet
~summary: You and your boyfriend make a spicy bet with one another.
~warnings: smut, fem!reader, x wriothesley.
~a/n: Have this while I procrastinate on requests and drafts. I will get to them eventually, I promise🥺❤️
You shake and twitch as Wrio removes his hand from between your legs. It's hard for you to count how long it's been since you've started your bet. "Wow. Good girl for not coming again." You look at him through bleary eyes. He moves his hands to your tear-stained cheeks. "And how long has that been? You've been keeping count right? After all, we need to know in order to decide who won the bet." "Fou-fourty fi-ve minutes-s" you barely choke out. "Hm, it's actually been fourty-seven minutes but I don't blame you for being off. It's probably been hard to given your hard concentration on trying not to cum." He smirks at you. "Shall we continue? We only have four more minutes until I lose this bet and I don't really want to lose. I know you'll break and cum within those four minutes." His comment causes your mind to clear a bit, becoming determined once again to win the bet. "No way. I'm gonna win and I'll get the reward." You playfully glare at him. He laughs. "We'll see about that." His hands find their way under the back of your thighs, pushing them to your chest. "I've been holding back a bit just so you felt like you were winning, but I know what always makes you come no matter what." Shit. You try to keep a determined face but he noticed you falter, smirking. He teases his cockhead on your pussy, slowly moving it back and forth between your folds. He then moves his cock to prod at your entrance, only inserting his cockhead. He thrusts a couple of times before fully inserting himself. The fullness of his cock feels amazing to you while the tightness of your cunt wraps perfectly around him, making him close his eyes and sigh. He begins his pace, thrusting slowly but picking up pace as he remembers the amount of time he has left to make you cum. You bite your lip, staring at the ceiling, trying to focus on something else in order to distract yourself from the blissful pounding of your boyfriend's thick cock. Little did you know, he notices your plan. He leans over you, holding your legs over his shoulders and squished against your chest, pressing you into the mattress. You curse under your breath. "Now where do you think your focus is going. It shouldn't be anywhere else other than on how deep my cock is inside you. Focus on how it pounds your cervix, inching you closer and closer to the edge." He says as he gives more deep thrusts and grinds against your clit. You don't know how long you'll be able to last if he continues like this. Your fingernails dig in his shoulders as you tighten around his cock, making him curse. Watching you writhe and squirm under him with tears falling down your cheeks made him want to just ruin you. He continues to pound into you, making the bed squeak and scrape against the floorboards. "Come on. Cum." He says against your neck, leaving kisses and bites along it. "Fuck, Wrio." He laughs against your neck. You feel the tightness in your lower belly about to burst, until suddenly. Ding. Ding. Ding. You both pause as the bell goes off, signaling that time was up and notifying you as the winner. You smirk and push him off of you, turning you both over so you were on top of him. "I win." you say excitedly. Wrio's stunned for a sec but catches himself. He sighs and chuckles. "Damn. I was so close to making you lose too. Well, a bet's a bet. You win. Now what was your reward again?" he teases. "My reward is your punishment." "Very well then. Let's begin, shall we?"

Hi yes sorry for the wait, procrastination hit hard, but here's another snippet
First prompt done! "The Hero had just come back from an absolutely brutal training session and was exhausted and jelly limbed, only for the Villain to stumble onto them! We all know Villan couldn't help themselves with such a treat!"
I wasn't too proud of this one at first but it looped around to being one of my favorites so far :3
cw, as usual: suggestive and (sorta) kidnapping
Snippet #5
Hero was panting from exhaustion as they walked home in the dead of night.
They'd finally finished up one of their most rigorous training sessions yet- it was well past midnight by now, and they'd started before noon- and were absolutely, utterly exhausted from the ordeal, especially now that the adrenaline had worn off. Their face was still red, their throat sore and their breathing heavy; they were tired to the point that even walking all the way home was a bit of a challenge...
"...Awww~"
The Hero's heartbeat spiked.
They whipped around with a squeak of surprise, throwing a panicked punch at the general area behind them in a brief panic.
Hero's arm stopped midway, their forearm grabbed to stop it before the punch could follow through.
Hero froze. As their conscious thought came back into play, they slowly looked up to see the figure still holding their arm in place. It was impossible to make out many details in the dark, but as their gaze trailed up to fully see the face of the figure, an intense, warm shiver went down their spine.
They saw the eyes staring back down at them. Bright red, with the signature, precise, terrifying glow that made them cleanly cut through the darkness like a spider looking down on its prey. A gaze Hero was all too familiar with.
Villain's.
"Now, what do we have here~?" Villain teased, gaze piercing the exhausted Hero. They tried to pull away in defiance but were caught off guard by Villain's other hand slipping under their chin, gently tilting their head to look back up at them.
"You look exhausted, sweetie~"
Hero felt their cheeks warm up. They were already pretty warm, sure, but this wasn't exhaustion making them flare up again.
...Fuck.
They knew full well what the fuzzy feeling in their chest was. It wasn't exactly a new experience, either; really, almost anything relating to the Villain got that reaction out of Hero. It wasn't news by now.
...But here, it was coming in full force, and they were in the prime position for Villain to notice it. They were panicking.
It somehow never really occurred to them that Villain's teasing wasn't for the sake of intimidation.
"I've never seen you put up so little of a fight~! Finally learning your place?" Villain taunted further, their expression satisfied as they looked down at the defenseless Hero.
"Wh- th- I, uh, well- NO, absolutely not!" snapped Hero, finally managing to get out something coherent.
"Awww, always so feisty~" Villain hummed in response, moving their face a closer to the defiant Hero. They were so precious like this! It was so rare to see them at their mercy, and they looked so damn cute...
Hero's blush was running full force. Being under Villain's gaze at all was flustering, but the teasing, the warmth of their touch, the fact they couldn't fight back right now...
Before either of them knew it, they had fallen into a mutual kiss.
Neither really knew how it happened- they both simultaneously found themself in the same position of locking lips with their nemesis.
They simultaneously flinched back in a startle, breaking the kiss rather abruptly and awkwardly. Neither said anything, but they remained looking at one another, mildly bewildered expressions on both of their faces as they tried to process what exactly just happened.
They just kissed.
It took them both a while to process this. They weren't in disbelief at the concept- they were both in shock that it actually just happened.
Now that it had, neither had any doubts in their mind.
Villain looked back over the flustered Hero, delighting in the way their pretty face showed both satisfaction and embarrassment, adoring the way they squirmed seeing their rival tower over them no longer in a perceived aggressive way, but rather a... possessive one.
"...Well, there's no way in hell I'm passing up such an easy little captive~"
Hero had never felt so excited.

main masterlist | requests/originals masterlist
Tumblr media
iwaizumi hajime x gn!reader
a/n: college au! this is honestly just a little blurb i thought of during the day cuz i just can’t stop thinking of iwa these days smh
wc: 643
Tumblr media
you sighed, laying your pen down on the table. you were officially done with your weekend assignments and a glance at the digital clock on your boyfriend’s desk told you it was already 11:06pm on a sunday.
iwaizumi sat cross-legged on his bed with his back against the wall, as he played games on his phone. he had already finished his assignments in the afternoon but being the master procrastinator you were, you left it till the last minute (a/n: like me ngl).
you crawled onto the bed and started to wiggle your way into his lap, finally sitting comfortably between his legs. your head was tucked under his chin and your arms hugged his torso.
“you done with your work?” he asked, half distracted by his game.
“mhmm…” you yawned.
the room was quiet except for the sound of the ceiling fan above you, and the sound of gunfire from iwaizumi’s phone. you shifted slightly so your head was against his chest, and you could hear his steady heartbeat.
“i’m sorry babe, i can’t really stop this game right now, oikawa would kill me if i just left him and mattsun halfway through. we’re about to win, though, so just gimme a moment, alright?” he explained.
you looked up and saw that he was in deep concentration. his brows were slightly pinched and his lips were pursed as his eyes darted across the screen. he was mumbling something like “that damn jerk just won’t die”. his fingers hit the screen repeatedly and you giggled at how engrossed your boyfriend was in the game.
the tiniest dimple in his left cheek started to show as he stuck his tongue out in concentration.
so damn cute.
you didn’t mind that he was playing a game with his friends from high school. they hadn’t seen each other since college started, and it was hard to find a time and place for them to meet up. honestly, you didn’t really care what he was doing as long as you got to cuddle with him.
“yes! we got it,” he hissed.
you giggled as he put his phone down on his bedside table and turned back to you. he bent down to kiss you on the lips before reaching over to turn the lights off.
his phone lit up, buzzing with an incoming call just as you two laid on the bed. iwaizumi grunted and reached over to pick it up. you yawned again and closed your eyes.
“iwa-chan~~ where did you go? we’re about to play another game,” you heard the whiny voice of your boyfriend’s best friend on the phone. you peeked at him to see his reaction.
iwaizumi tsked and replied, “go screw yourselves.. i’m with y/n and i gotta sleep, shitty-kawa. i’ll play with you guys next time, okay?”
“ooooh is iwa-chan with his-,” oikawa’s words got cut off as iwaizumi ended the call with a roll of his olive eyes, sighing in annoyance. even after dating for nearly two years, his friends still teased him about being able to “pull” someone as amazing as you.
you often heard quips like “how much did you pay them to be with you?” or “are you sure they can see clearly?” though you were pretty damn sure you could see clearly, because anyone could see that iwaizumi was one hell of a snacc (a/n: ok lyssa chill).
he flopped back into bed next to you and pulled you closer to him, burying his head into your neck and mumbling something about oikawa being stupid and having a class at 8am the next day. you chuckled and ran your fingers through his hair, planting a chaste kiss on his head.
“g’night, babe. i lohvfe youh,” he said from his place next to you, his words muffled.
“i love u more, haji.”
“ ‘mpothsible.”

Metamorph
Part III
Tumblr media
Pairing: art teacher!Aemond Targaryen x reader (Horror AU)
Warnings: dark!Aemond, obsessive behavior, murder, horror, yandere, kidnapping, misanthropy, general creepy stuff.
Words: 1.1k
Summary: Drawn to the artworks of one of the most esteemed artists in the city, you wish to learn from him and find out what inspires him to create his masterpieces. You have no idea how much his secrets will cost you.
Part I | Part II
____________
You clenched your fancy Kohinoor pencil between your fingers like it's a gun, staring at Aemond already posing in front of all of you. No procrastination, you reminded yourself firmly as you drew a long vertical line across the paper to balance the future drawing. Your teacher hadn't berated you for your mistakes even once. It'd be fine if you got this one wrong, too. Anything was better than an empty sheet.
God, but Aemond was so pretty. His high cheekbones, his strong nose and jaw, and those thin but expressive lips, the long scar across the left side of his face...
You quickly hid behind your easel.
Breathe. Just get out of your head, you repeated to yourself Aemond's very words. You needed to get started, and whatever happened next didn't matter as long as you allowed yourself to draw whatever came to your mind. Explanations and logic be damned. You were an artist! At these rare moments, you were supposed to feel, not think.
Slowly inhaling and exhaling to keep your anxiety at bay, you uncleched the pencil in your fingers and slowly started shaping the figure on a sheet. It's fine. Aemond wouldn't get mad anyway as long as you did what he said.
The more you put your pencil to the sheet, the easier it was getting, something unfurling in your chest, putting a stop to your anxious thoughts and fears of failure as you continued to build Aemond's body, starting to get into details once you finished with the primary form. Regardless of his talent and uniqueness as an artist, he was still only a fellow human being like you. There was no need to magnify his power.
By the time Aemond walked over to you, you were almost finished with the painting, landing the last strokes to color the palms of the man on the sheet. It was that very red paint you had been mooning over for many months, complimenting its unusual vibrant color and a pleasant consistency. It was hard to believe you were now using it for your own artwork, but time was running out, and you didn't have a spare moment to be drooling over the paint.
"What do we have here?" The artist hummed, making you jump in your seat. How on Earth did he manage to walk so quietly in a room full of tables, chairs, and people?
Trying to focus on his question, you suddenly realized you had no clue how to present your idea to the teacher. Did you even draw what he had asked you to? What was that, not changing the silhouette and using mainly paint to express yourself or something?
You felt the beads of sweat promptly forming on your forehead as you clenched your jaw.
"You've been improving," Aemond told you, eye on the drawing as he tilted his head to the side. "Body proportions seem right, and I like the way you shaped the arms and legs. You had difficulties with them before."
Oh, really? You surely had problems drawing arms, but you didn't notice you were becoming better. A pleasant surprise. Not that one wouldn't expect to improve after taking lessons from the most esteemed artist in the city.
"Why did you paint the head and hands in red?"
Oh, crap. Why did you? You frantically searched for an answer other than "no idea, Sir, I think my subconsciousness just took over my body." Shifting in your seat uncomfortably, you looked up to Aemond bent over, intently studying your artwork.
Cautiously, you muttered, "I-I think every change starts from the head, Sir."
Would that qualify for an answer? But Aemond quickly directed his gaze at you and demanded, "And hands?"
Biting your poor lip that no amont of lip balm was going to save after today's lesson, you mumbled, "Hands are the tool that make the change happen, Sir."
"Very logical, yes. Now, forget about trying to give me a logical answer and tell me what you felt when you were drawing this. Tell me about the paint."
He bent over even closer to you, practically breathing into your face, and you almost lost the ability to produce any adequate sounds. Your teacher clearly saw through your bullshit, and the thought that he was upset or even mad at you made you feel miserable.
"It's a metamorph, Sir," you whispered, one step closer to having a panic attack and hoping no student in the room was listening to your rambling, "and red is a color of life. Of change."
Aemond cocked his head to the side, narrowing his eyes at you. "Why do you think red is the color of change? Is it because the change scares you?"
"It's not the change itself that scares me. It's what the metamorph is becoming, Sir," you uttered in a small voice and then added even quieter, praying only Aemond could hear you, "I think- I think he's turning into something violent, Sir. Something terrifying."
It took you a second to recognize what you've just said and what reaction it has provoked.
All of a sudden, you were staring in the face of Aemond Targaryen with his thin lips stretched so wide in a smile that it was even a little creepy. Was he... content? Did he want to laugh at your silly attempt to explain your feelings when you'd been drawing? You wouldn't even be offended, to be fair. It sounded like nonsense to you, too.
But no, he didn't seem to find it funny. Instead, you felt his palm squeezing your shoulder firmly, his smile unwavering as he spoke to you in a hushed voice the way you'd been answering to him, "Very good. My favorite artwork today so far."
As he got up, moving to the next student on your left, you were ready to jump and run away from the studio because, clearly, you were going to burst from the excess of feelings and anxiety in the next five seconds. Your teacher said it was his favorite painting today. This banal, lacking in originality in its every aspect thing was his favorite. When blood rushed to your head, making you sweat and feel disoriented, you clutched the brush between your fingers, squeezing your eyes shut.
Aemond Targaryen liked your painting. Despite being the very inspiration for the beautiful but horrifying metamorph, he actually had some sort of fondness for it because later, before you left, he actually asked you to allow him to keep the artwork for his own collection. Why did he like it so much? You had no idea.

Howl
[Diviner!Kunikida x Yokai!Reader]
Tw: Slow-burn yandere, obsession, kidnapping, dub-con
[A.N: This was supposed to be for Halloween. My procrastination levels are *chef's kiss*]
Tumblr media
The reports said that it was a yokai epidemic. Spirits taking on the form of beautiful women to seduce the locals and feed upon their energies. As a young but promising Onmyoji at court, Kunikida was sent in to deal with the mess.
Kunikida wasn’t too happy about this. For one thing, it cut into his already established schedule. “But I must do my job,” he told himself as he set off. The journey was long, the road hard; and when Kunikida arrived, he found the locals scared and mistrustful of “the man from the capital”. Ignoring this lack of a warm welcome – welcomes were irrelevant to his job, after all – he set about gathering information, determining that the yokai were likeliest to appear in the surrounding forest late at night.
And so that night, as the full moon rose, Kunikida set off into the forest.
The chittering and cries of woodland creatures filled the air; the rustle and sigh of the trees set his teeth on edge. He could appreciate the beauty of nature as much as the next man, but the fact was obvious that finding anything in there would be like searching for a needle in a haystack.
“I mustn't let petty things bother me,” he told himself sternly. “My job is to protect the locals from the yokai. If it takes time, then so be it.”
A faint sound came to his ears, different from the muted din of the forest. It was laughter. Women’s laughter.
Kunikida paused, ears prickling. There was the faint splashing of water, the murmur of the breeze... and another silvery peal of laughter from his right.
Dropping to his haunches, he crept along towards the source of the sound. Beyond a tall thicket was a large clearing with a small pond. Several women sat in a circle upon the dew-strewn grass, laughing and playing with a silver ball.
Yokai.
They couldn’t be anything else. Their skin was translucent, their shining hair loose, their nails a little too long to be normal. Kunikida drew a sharp breath and made to begin the dispelling incantation. But before he could do so, the yokais’ heads snapped towards him. Quick as a flash, they fled into the forest.
“Damn it!”
Kunikida chased after them. They’d run off in different directions, so he chose the one at random, reciting the incantation under his breath. Something caught at his foot, however, sending him crashing to the ground. A shadow fell over him. He looked up. One of the yokai stood over him, draped in a blood-red kimono.
You.
Your hair shadowed your face, your eyes gleaming with a strange light. Before Kunikida could do anything - before he could move or even think - you leaned over him and pressed a chaste kiss to his lips.
Time stopped.
Your lips were soft and sweet against his, as delicate as a rosebud in its first bloom. You smelled of sandalwood and spices, overpowering his senses. The world darkened for a minute, fading away before your beauty and brilliance; he closed his eyes, letting the ecstasy take him.
When he opened his eyes, you were gone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kunikida returned to his quarters in a daze.
‘It seems that the yokai got the best of me,’ he wrote in his notebook, as the rising sun lightened the skies. ‘Everything after the... encounter is a blur. I must be more wary of them in the future.’
Then he closed his notebook and sat staring out the window.
He could remember everything quite vividly - your scent, the colour of your hair, the feel of his skin against his own. His cheeks reddened even now as he recalled just how sweet the kiss had felt. The villagers had given him a place at the very edge of the village, little more than a shack that overlooked the forest. As he eyed the trees, he imagined you kissing another man that same way.
Irritation pricked at him, sudden and sharp. He bit his lip and reopened his notebook.
‘The locals are in grave danger,’ he wrote. ‘Until these yokai are expelled. It could be that the woman I met - the yokai I met - was preternaturally strong, but until there is evidence to the contrary, I must assume her strength as an average of their power. And... she did have power. I can still feel her enchantment upon me. I have the training to understand it for what it is, but others may not be so lucky.’
He closed his notebook again, tracing the “Ideal” written on the cover. Kunikida didn’t want anyone to get hurt, not when he could stop the cause. Yet for some reason, coming face to face with you terrified him in a way few things ever had. He’d faced demons before, but never once had they held any sway upon him.
“It is only an enchantment,” he muttered, rubbing his forehead. “I should cleanse myself, and cast more wards to protect myself against future attacks. Running away is not an option, of course.”
But an entire morning performing prayers and rituals did little to drive you from his thoughts. By midday, he irritably decided that he’d done enough to protect himself, and stomped off into the forest to begin tracking you and your friends down. He searched and searched and searched, driven by a manic energy he couldn’t quite explain - he tried to convince himself that it was only his impatience, but some other emotion lingered at the back of his mind that he didn’t want to think about - until the sun disappeared and the moon reigned over the sky. Sweaty and exhausted, Kunikida came to an old torii and sank down upon the steps leading up to the shrine.
“This is ridiculous,” he huffed. “Her signs are everywhere.”
“Who are you talking to?”
Kunikida tensed, then turned. There, up on the steps framed by the full moon, you stood triumphant.
“Hello,” you called. You’ve returned, Diviner.”
“I have,” he said, ignoring the fluttering in his heart.
“Come back for a more?”
“No.” His face heated up. “I am here to banish you and your friends to the Underworld.”
Really?”
There was a teasing note in your voice. Kunikida’s heart skipped a beat, and he clutched the talisman under his shirt. You were working your power on him again. He could feel it, by the way his heart was drawn to yours. “Enough of this,” he said, raising his hand to perform the necessary mudra.
“Sounds like entirely too much effort.”
You came closer, a coy smile playing about your lips. You were just as lovely as he remembered, a being of moonlight and the autumn air; he wanted to reach out and touch you, to see if you were real or a figment of his imagination. Reluctance seized him, making him pause his chant.
“Stay back,” he said, his throat dry. “I am not afraid of you.”
“I don’t think its fear that’s stopping you.”
You brushed your knuckles against his cheek. Kunikida tilted his head towards your hand, taking in the warmth and pressure of your skin against his own. Slowly, gently, even unwillingly, he reached up and cupped your hand with his own.
“Come with me,” you whispered, taking his hand.
It was wrong. Kunikida knew it was wrong. But a veil of madness seemed to have descended upon his mind, clouding it with a miasma of delight. Vaguely, he was aware of you leading him away into the forest; then, your arms were around his neck, your lips on his, your body pressed against his own. Your tongue darted into his mouth, and he moaned.
He let you push him to the ground, straddling him. Swiftly, you slipped off your kimono, allowing him to gaze greedily upon your unclothed form.
“This is wrong,” he whispered.
“Hush,” you said, placing your hands upon his bare chest. “Do you want me?”
He looked at you. “Yes.”
You smiled and let him take you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It became a routine, a secret, shameful addiction. Every night, Kunikida would return, drawn to you like a moth to a flame. Each night, he would surrender himself to you, losing himself in a haze of ecstasy and delight that lasted until morning. All that passed in between was a blur - your body beneath him, your head thrown back, your body writhing with pure, unadulterated pleasure - dreams more suited to a teenage boy than a full-grown man. He would press entreaties and hopes upon your skin, babbling to you for hours about his ideals, his hopes and his dreams, all those things that he would never reveal to other humans.
During the mornings, however, shame would overwhelm him. He was failing his duty, failing the people who’d placed his trust upon him. He would spend hours praying and trying to cleanse himself, even while thoughts of you danced around in his mind. On top of that, his strength was failing, reminding him that no matter how soft and sweet you seemed, you were still a yokai feeding off of him. But through the shame and self-loathing, a darker side of him started to emerge. A part that no longer cared about his failing duty, that was proud of the fact that you fed upon him alone. The thought of you taking another lover made his blood boil.
‘I need to put a stop to all of it,’ he wrote feverishly in his notebook. ‘These women – these yokai – they cannot be allowed to harm the people any longer. I cannot allow it.’
But at the same time, he didn’t want it all to end. When was the last time he’d ever felt this happy – this alive? You were everything. The beat in his veins, the breath in his lungs, the fire in his heart. You made him feel alive, in a way no one else ever could.
A dark thought began to coalesce in head, one that scared him to even put on paper.
“You’ve been here a while now,” you said to him one night as the two of you lay upon the forest floor. “The moon was full the first night we met, and its full now. I thought you wanted to banish me and my sisters, Diviner?’
“I did,” Kunikida said slowly, gazing up at the sky. “You know full well what you’re doing, [Y/N].”
“I didn’t realize just how good I am,” you said with a small laugh. “But really, if you can’t handle it, then you should go back to the capital. You won’t last long if you stay with me.”
“Why?” he said with a sudden twinge of panic. “Are you tired of me? Is there someone else whose energy you prefer?”
“No, no, that’s not it,” you said quickly, ruffling his hair. “But if you stay with me any longer, you’ll die. I don’t want that.”
“No?”
His heart soared at your words. But you simply shrugged and continued. “Me and my sisters... we don’t want to kill humans, we don’t hate them. But humans are too frail, they die too easily. Its an unfortunate reality of this world.”
Kunikida propped himself up on one elbow to look at you. You were still as beautiful as ever, but there was more to you now: you were graceful, kind and understanding, beyond what any human woman could ever hope to be.
Ideal. You were his ideal woman.
And you wanted to leave him.
“Even if you don’t voluntarily kill them, you’re still a threat,” he said, pursing his lips. “I can’t leave until I banish you all.”
“Then do it.”
“What?”
You shrugged. “This world isn’t fun any more. Its too grey, too depressing. And like I said, humans are too fragile. I-” you took his hand, pressing it to your chest- “will miss you. But if you care about me, please give me and my sisters with safe passage to the Underworld.”
No. No, no, no. Kunikida wanted to scream. He opened his mouth, then paused upon noting the troubled look in your eyes. “I see,” he said instead, schooling his face into a mask of indifference.
“Are you all right with that?” you asked.
“I’ll be fine. I just... wish you hadn’t tired of me.”
“Kunikida-”
“I will do what you ask,” he interrupted. “Just give me till tomorrow. Its the full moon, right? It’ll be a good night for the ceremony.”
You fell silent, but he could see the relief in your eyes. Revulsion roiled within him at what he had become, but he was too far gone to back down now.
“Tomorrow,” he repeated. “I will open the gates to the Underworld.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You felt nervous. Your sisters milled about inside the shrine, just where you’d promised Kunikida you’d be. Though the autumn moon was full tonight, its full splendour was masked by the clouds - a bad omen if you’d ever saw one.
He had to be here. You didn’t know how to get to the Underworld by yourself, an oversight you were bitterly regretting now. There was much to regret about your ill-planned excursion, the chief of which was your dalliance with Kunikida. He was a strong Diviner, with an iron will; far more than what you’d thought you could handle.
 There were footsteps outside. Tension tightened in your stomach like a bowstring. Kunikida appeared in the door, and you let out a sigh of relief.
“Kunikida,” you said, hurrying to him. “Thank you for coming.”
“I said that I would be here,” he answered. “You need my help, don’t you.”
His face was pale and hard, his expression set. Looking at him, you felt another twinge of anxiety. “Are you sure you will be all right?” you asked. “We’ve had a rather intense time together.”
“I’ll be fine.” He gestured for you to join your sisters. You went to them, watching him in silence as he began the ritual to open the gates of the Underworld. You still weren’t sure of his feelings - Kunikida was difficult to read, even for a human. One moment he could be soft and kind, the stoic and harsh. Either way, you were glad to be going home.
A blinding light emanated from the floor as the gates began to open. Your sisters cheered up, hurrying to pass to the other side. You made to pass through as well, when Kunikida called out to you.
“[Y/N]”
You paused and looked at him. There was raw pain etched upon his face.
“I’m sorry,” you said, helplessly. “I wish we hadn’t come here. I wish I hadn’t put you through everything. You weren’t supposed to, you know. Most people are so badly affected by being around us that they don’t even think of crossing our path again.”
“I know.” He held out his hand. “Just... please let me touch you one more time.”
You hesitated. Surely no harm could come from that? Cautiously, you reached out to him, intending to do no more than to pat his hand.
He grabbed your wrist.
The gate slammed shut.
Darkness fell as the light was cut off.
“What—agh!”
You scream as plain lancinated up your arm, spreading through your body in wracking waves. You collapsed to your knees, barely able to think or scream, as your power was ripped from you.
“I’m sorry.” Kunikida knelt next to you, his expression pained. “But I had to do what was necessary.”
Wrenching your eyes away from him to his hand. There was a small woodblock stamp hidden in his palm, a binding symbol carved upon it. There was a corresponding symbol stamped upon your wrist.
“You” you grimaced. “You’ve bound me.”
“I have.” Quickly, he wrenched your kimono off of you. “I’m sorry, but I cannot let you go. You have to stay with me forever.”
“I—”
“I will not allow anything else.”
He pulled a rough, homespun robe upon your shoulders. Human clothes. As the pain began to subside, the realization of what he was doing – of what he’d done – dawned upon you..
“No.” You weakly tried to push him away, tears welling in your eyes. “No, I won’t let you!”
“Let me?” Kunikida’s expression hardened. Pain flared once again in your head, making you scream. “There isn’t anything you can do to stop me.”
“But why? I thought you wanted to be rid of me!”
He shook his head, eyes dark, pulling into a smothering embrace. “[Y/N], I love you. I never want to be rid of you again.”
You sit behind the glass and yawn in the deathly din of the transit office. You lazily scroll a finger over your phone. The brief rush has dissipated so now you're free to read old forums about the cult classic show you've been bingeing.
Despite your hours being cut, every shift feels too long. The time is dull as most people buy their passes online or get tickets at a kiosk in the mall. So you work is minimal and the pay even less. Not to mention, your patience.
You lean your chin in your hand and press your finger to your lashes, trying to keep the old mascara from stinging your eyes. The chirp of the sensor has you sitting up and you nearly bite your tongue as you try to greet the customer. Not him!
“Closed,” you lie and reach for the metal gate above, struggling to clasp onto the handle.
“Hours say–”
“Get the fuck out, dude,” you snarl and hop, rolling down the grate and slamming it into place.
You swear as it hits your phone, knocking it through the small slot under the glass partition, locking it out and you in. You lock the bottom, not caring about the burner. Fuck it, you only ever text Snicky.
“Come on, doll,” Bucky stops by your phone, bending to pick it up, “how many of these you lost so far?”
He wiggles the phone at you, am eighty dollar Polaroid piece of shit.
“Leave me alone.”
“Ah, what's happened to customer service these days?” He tuts and comes closer, shoulder broad and rolling. “Look, I'm not here for me, right?” He tucks your phone in his jacket pocket, “my friend, Steve, the string bean, he likes you.”
“I don't fucking know you. Or him. And I don't wanna know you–”
“You don't? Cause I think I got to know you pretty well–”
“Fucking ass–”
“Let's not keep going through this, alright? Now, I've been pretty damn nice. Do you know how much you can learn from a phone? I know you're about thirty-seven dollars in overdraft and your Instagram keeps popping up with pictures of that dumb girl that hangs off you.”
“How, I–”
“Locked me out? You think,” he taps on the glass on the other side of the gate, “what if I made you a deal?”
“I'm not into the hard stuff,” you scoff.
“Didn't seem to mind it,” he winks, “maybe coulda gone for something lighter…”
“What do you want?” You bark.
“Alright, alright, like I said, it's not me,” he smirks, his gaze creeping up and down your figure. “My friend, he's got no luck with the girls. Told me you stood up for him. That's sweet despite… being you.”
“So you wanna be my pimp? Oh, fuck off–”
“A date. That's it.” His hand tightens in his pocket, gripping your phone. “Humour him. He's been moping about you all week.”
“Yeah right, I'm not stupid–”
“You won't see me. Really, I got plans. Saturday's are good for business, not worth the cut.”
Your nostrils flare. You want to be done with it, him, that club, and all the losers who hang out there. You bite down and cross your arms, glaring at him.
“How about… three hundred?” He offers. “Up front.”
He shifts and pulls the phone out of his pocket. He sets it before the slot in the window then reaches into his back pocket. He takes out his wallet and counts several bills.
“He'll pay for dinner. He's the old fashioned type, you know? Just wear something sexy.”
You scowl, furrowing your nose as your mouth dries. You can't believe you're even considering this. Are you that low?
Well, hes offering as much as you get in a week and the last chunk of your rent. So yes, you are.
“Saturday?” You ask crisply.
“Seven,” he slides the money and phone against the bottom of the gate, “I'll send you the time and place.”
“If I even hear your name–”
“Relax,” he backs up, “I got mine. Just take it easy on my pal.” He smirks and uns his thumb along his bottom lip, “he's a virgin.”
“You're nasty.”
“Oh I know I'm just your type but he's better for you,” he chuckles and turns, stalking to the door, “and if you don't show, I'll be back to collect and trust,” he pauses, “I always get what I'm owed.”
The door swings shut and you stare after him. Slowly you look down and unlock the gate. You push it up and reach for the phone and the bills. The skinny one can’t cause you that much trouble, can he?
𝟓:𝟒𝟏𝐩𝐦 - 𝐂𝐲𝐧𝐨
-> happy birthday to the best character in this damned game :,)
there’s a reallyy bad joke lurking in this…, errr not proofread i winged this bc i needed to give my #1 a bday fic (i procrastinated)
Tumblr media
Cyno has always made a point to attend his close friend’s gatherings.
Although, it proved to be quite difficult at times. His duties as the General Mahamatra were real workloads and could take days or even weeks to complete. If he wanted a day off, he’d have to give notice far ahead of time.
Despite of any odds stacked against him, he always finds a way to overcome them for the sake of his friends.
Of course, Cyno would never admit that. While he may give kind words here and there, he’d never admit outright that he cares deeply about those around him. But you’ll always notice it in his actions. You can notice anything in his actions, in fact.
Like right now. As he lies on his side at 11:58pm, two minutes before his birthday. Just what kind of person doesn’t stay up till midnight before their birthday?
“Cynoo….” You cooed. “Did you forget what day it was?” Cyno grumbled on his side, annoyed with the seemingly meaningless disturbance in rest.
“Friday? It’s just another day, unless you’re in Fontaine. I’m sure Fries on Friday are a favorite in that nation.” He said nonchalantly, switching from laying on his side to his back.
Much to your annoyance, his right arm extended over your frame carelessly as he stared at the ceiling. Sleep lurked in his red hues, but his facial features made it clear he was still awake and alert. You couldn’t imagine balancing rest and consciousness the way he does.
“Don’t play dumb you scholar, did you seriously forget what today is?” By this point, you were already sitting up, eyes slightly widened in disbelief. “It’s your birthday, Cyno.”
“It’s just another day. Why don’t you go back to sleep? Everyone else in Sumeru is probably dead asleep by now.” He moved his arm from your lap to your shoulder, gently pushing you down in an attempt to get you to lay back down.
“Just another day?”
“…yeah?”
You groaned in frustration at his mentality. He’ll be there for everyone else’s birthday, yet completely disregard his own.
“If a birthday is just another day, then why did you make sure everything was perfect when we were celebrating Collei’s birthday? You somehow got Alhaitham to stay the whole time!” You recalled the joy on the girl’s face when all her friends surprised her that day, all thanks to Cyno and Tighnari’s arrangements.
“That was different,” He dismissed. “She’s still a kid, a kid who’s been through a lot. And before you bring up anyone else’s birthdays- Tighnari is my best friend, you’re my lover, Kaveh is stuck with Alhaitham, and Alhaitham… he’s a hard worker.” He refuted any argument you could make next.
“So you just… don’t remember your birthday?” You asked.
“Not until someone else mentions it.” He replied.
“So when I told you to ask for a day off on June 23rd, you didn’t think anything of it?” His eyes widened slightly at the realization, the first reaction you’ve seen come from him since the conversation started.
“I thought you had something important you wanted to do today.”
“Nope,” You chuckled. “I just didn’t wanna see you working so hard on your birthday.”
He stared at you for a while, expression becoming more and more unreadable. “Come here..”
You giggled seeing him back down like that. He was stubborn, but so were you. Playful backs and forths always ended with one you pulling the other in for a hug, kiss, or in this case, cuddles.
“I can’t believe you were that far ahead of me.” He mumbled. “And here I thought there was a surprise TCG event you were taking me to.”
You held back your laughter, because that is on the to-do list for today. That and the surprise you and Tighnari have been arranging for Cyno since you got him to take today off. But he’ll find that out later.
“Happy birthday, Cyno.” You lean in to kiss him, which he happily accepted.
He may not care for his birthday like he cares for other’s, but he knows it’ll be a good one with you around.
A Memory of the Sunset
»»————- 🎞 ————-««
Featuring: Kaedehara Kazuha x gn!reader (can be interpreted as romantic or platonic)
Warnings: mention of blood
Director’s Cut: i abused the enter key so hard on this one. a weird, slightly angsty kind-of character study that i started writing a year ago and restarted today while procrastinating. proofreader said “makes me cry 10/10” so i’m doing my job right. enjoy!
»»————- 🎞 ————-««
You were eight when the man with the white hair appeared in your window for the first time.
He was a little kid then too, no younger than you judging by the looks of him. Groggily rousing yourself from the clutches of your comforter, you wobbled over to the windowsill and asked,
“How’d you get up? That’s high.”
He said,
“That’s a secret.”
You were thirteen when he started appearing every night. Looking back, you wonder if he was lonely. Yeah, your parents would tell you stranger danger and all that, but he just felt safe. Someone to talk to when nobody else was there. Deep down, you both knew neither of you would judge the other.
As the leaves changed, you started riding a bike to the forest down your street. He had told you that he liked the leaves when their colors started to darken, as they fell in preparation for the wrath of Winter. When you asked him why, he murmured something passingly about the wind being stronger and left it at that. He never told you much about where he came from. You figured maybe he and his parents were estranged, what with all the sneaking out.
On a brutally cold Saturday, you saw him peek his head out from behind a tree in the forest. He glanced left and right, and finally landed on you.
“Why are you here? You’re not supposed to be here. And what’s with the puffer jacket?”
“Uh, I was taking a walk…”
“Well, it doesn’t matter that much,” he replied, “You’re here now.” A pause, and he adds, “Kazuha.”
“Huh?” you question.
“My name-“ he backtracks. “I realized that I’d never told you.”
You’d never heard of any… Kazuha in your neighborhood, but you didn’t question it. Maybe you were naive, or maybe you had an inkling of what he really was. Rolling over memories in your mind, you wonder why he stayed that long with you back then, and never anyone else.
• • • • •
The fire escape in your first apartment was faulty. It was temperamental and it damn well never worked when it needed to, but it was his favorite, so you kept it. He liked to sit there with you and watch the purple sunsets over the bustle and brass of the street under. Talk about anything, everything. Except his family. He knew yours, every cousin and every grandparent, but when you tried asking him on that fire escape his face crumpled. Squeezing your hand, he murmured, “It’s a long story.”
You never asked him again.
Kazuha never seemed to have any milestones, or commitments, or anything at all. He was there, and then he was gone. But he was always there for yours, whether it was your high school graduation or your cousin’s wedding. The boy had carved a place out for himself in the muscle fibers of your heart, slithering through your bloodstream, an essential element of your functioning.
And then he was gone.
• • • • •
Some people are just born to wander, leaving their fingerprints on everything they touch, a sign they were there. That they loved and they lost and they lived.
And some people are born to be left behind by the wanderers, to be the canvas for those fingerprints, a sign that they were there too.
The sunset is beautiful tonight.
A/N: fun fact! when i first started writing this, it was intended to be a Peter Pan-esque AU inspired by Devil by the Window by TXT, but i left it sitting in my notes app until now and it turned into this weird word vomit about loss. what can i say? inspiration strikes when it wants. <- (me pretending i write more than once every six months)
Little Sanguinarium prompt whenever you feel like it: Mulder to Scully: "Well, not everyone can say they're the most beautiful wherever they go."
UST-filled post-ep fic: Mulder thinks Scully is the most beautiful person wherever she goes. She doesn't believe him so he tries to make her see it his way. (wc: 1,258)
Fictober Day 18: Beautiful In My Eyes
They’re working on their case report. At least in theory. Mulder is clearly not typing, his thoughts elsewhere. She’d like to be elsewhere too. It’s after 4 p.m. and she’s tired and hungry. Maybe a bit cranky. And much like Mulder, her thoughts aren’t at all on their most recent case. The one Skinner wants a report on. She sighs and Mulder’s head shoots up, his interest immediately piqued.
“Bored?” he asks.
“Tired,” she says.
“We can finish up tomorrow.”
“Something else might come up tomorrow. Mulder, I hate this as much as you do, but procrastinating is not going to help.”
He makes a noise and leans back in his chair, his hands behind his head.
“Have you ever thought about it?”
“Thought about what?” she asks, trying to make sense of what she’s already written.
“Getting plastic surgery.”
“Not seriously,” she says, thinking about the time she wanted to have bigger boobs. She was younger then. Much younger. “Have you?”
“With a nose like mine? Of course.” He holds his pen up to it as if trying to see how the two compare. She narrows her eyes, watching him.
“You surprise me sometimes,” she says. “Have you looked in a mirror?”
“Every once in a while,” he replies with a grin. “Are you saying I’m good-looking?”
“You know you are.” She clears her throat and hopes she’s not blushing too furiously. With her complexion, the slightest flush of her skin can reveal her true feelings. In high school, she could never keep her crushes a secret for long. Melissa always got it out of her because eventually, little red splotches would appear on her skin and make it obvious.
“And anyway,” she goes on, hoping Mulder will just let it go, “I think everyone wonders sometimes. What would it be like to be more beautiful? Just look at the cosmetic surgery industry. For some people that’s all that matters: to be the most beautiful person wherever they go.”
“Well, not everyone can say they're the most beautiful wherever they go,” Mulder says, cracking a sunflower seed between his teeth. “Not when they’re in a room with you.”
“Right,” she says, not taking him seriously at all. “We really need to finish this report, Mulder. Otherwise, we’ll never leave this office.”
“Did you hear what I said?” he asks. She’s staring down at the file, so she hears rather than sees Mulder round the desk and stop in front of her. She gets a whiff of his scent and wonders for a moment how he can still smell so good after a day at work.
“Scully? Did you hear what I said?” He’s not letting it go. Sometimes he’s more stubborn than a mule.
“I heard you,” she says, but doesn’t look up.
“You don’t believe me.” He’s not even asking; he knows.
“Mulder, I know I’m an attractive woman.” She finally meets his gaze. “But the most beautiful person? That’s a bit much.” He shakes his head, not once looking away from her.
“You are.” There’s more to what he’s saying, but it hangs in the air between them. She’s scared to reach for it.
“Can you drop this? Please? We need to finish this report.” That damn report. That damn case, too. That’s what brought his question on in the first place.
“In a second,” he says. “Why won’t you believe me?”
“I believe you, okay? Can we work now?”
“Your eyes,” he says, his voice so soft that it takes her breath away. “Before I knew you, I’d never seen eyes like yours. They’re so big and round. And Scully, they’re so blue. When I first met you, I thought of ice. But your eyes aren’t ice at all. They’re the color of the ocean you love so much.” She swallows hard, her mouth hanging open.
“Then there’s your nose. Did you know that the tip of your nose moves when you talk? Sometimes I can’t listen to anything you say because of it. But that could also be because of your lips.” He’s come closer and has crouched down. He’s level with her now and she feels frozen in place. For a moment she thinks, almost hopes, that he’s going to touch her. But the only part of him touching her are his eyes. She watches him as they wander to her lips. Instinctively, she licks them and sees a smile appear on his face.
“Hmm, yeah. That’s all I’m gonna say. And that’s just your face, Scully.” His eyes meet hers and she sees the honesty in his. Vulnerability. He’s letting her see a side of him she hasn’t seen before. He’s opening his heart to her. “If I wrote poetry, I could fill volumes with how beautiful you are. Your face, your body, and your mind. Oh, your mind. That might be the sexiest of them all."
“Because men are so attracted to intelligence."
"Well, I am." He's looking at her and not even blinking.
Mulder,” she whispers. “What are you doing?”
“Telling you the truth.” He shrugs. They don’t do this. They never do this. There have been moments when she thought about the two of them as more than partners. Sometimes out of fear or desperation. Many, many times out of sheer attraction. She knows they’re attracted to each other. She’s seen him look at her from time to time. But mostly, she’s chalked it up to her being around him every day.
She knows about the videos he watches and has seen the actresses that star in them. They’re tall and brunette. Sometimes blonde. Not once has she seen a redhead. She’s also seen him check out women while they were having lunch, or on case. Never a redhead there either. All of that makes her want to dismiss what he’s saying. Maybe he’s only doing this to flatter her so she’ll write the report on her own. If it weren’t for his eyes. She knows Mulder. Has had years now to study and get to know him. More than that, she knows the tell-tale signs of attraction. And right now, while Mulder is looking her in the eyes, his pupils are dilated.
“Are you doing this to get out of writing this report?” She just has to know.
“That thought never crossed my mind,” he says with a sweet smile. “Would that have worked?”
“No.” Mulder laughs and she’s tempted to give him a taste of his own medicine. Because she, too, could compose sonnets about how beautiful he is. Starting with his mind. Beautiful, brilliant mind. Then there are his puppy eyes, and his pouty, luscious lips.
“What are you thinking about?” he asks.
“The case,” she lies.
“Liar," he says, his face so close that the tip of his nose touches her. "Why would that case make you blush?” Now he's grinning at her. “Don’t worry,” he says, moving in even closer so that their mouths are only a hairsbreadth apart. “I won’t call you out on starting at my lips.”
“I wasn't,” she says with a gasp, despite having done exactly that.
“If you say so.” The moment breaks and he gets up to return to his own chair, to his part of the report. “Let’s finish this and I don’t know about you but I’m starving. Wanna join me for dinner?”
She’s definitely hungry. And she knows her hunger could be dangerous. Especially after everything he’s just said. And yet, she doesn’t even need to think about her answer.
“I’d love to.”
Writing Update - Alley Cat (And Ideas)
Tumblr media
I've written 3,300 words so far for Part 16 - Debrief. Matt decided he wanted to be POV for this chapter. Also staring Foggy Nelson being a good friend.
Preview Snippet:
“Nah,” Foggy said. Matt could hear the smile in his voice. “Just us avocados tonight.” “We’re not just avocados, Foggy,” Matt teased. “We’re the best avocados in this city, remember?” Foggy laughed. “Damn straight. But right now, this avocado needs a beer.”
I think its about half done. I know what happens but actually getting the words on paper has been slower than I'd like.
Part of that has been IRL stuff like helping my mom bake stuff for her club's bake sale and meetings - her health doesn't allow her to bake as much as she used to. I don't mind helping and the quick breads and cookies sold well.
But I think an equally large part might be that one of my muses' favorite methods of procrastinating is coming up with new ideas. Going to write some separate posts about these ideas but here is a little preview:
DAREDEVIL
The Broken Hearts Club (Vigilante! Reader has sex with the Devil of Hell's Kitchen on Valentine's Day. Not for the last time. It's supposed to be just sex, some comfort while both of them struggle with loss but they start catching feelings . . . Background: The Snap - Foggy and Karen were dusted, Reader lost her boyfriend to side effect of the Snap)
A Fragile Thing (Reader has just discovered that she is pregnant but before she can tell her husband Matt, he disappears along with half the universe . . . )
Sanctuary (Doctor! Reader has a rather unusual patient. John Doe is unconscious, badly hurt and half-naked and the priest who brought you to him claims to have found him like that . . . and when he wakes up, John isn't any more forthcoming than the priest . . . Diverengence: Father Lantom and Sister Maggie realize that Matt needs more medical care than they can give him. )
The Punisher
Port in a Storm (Reader meets Frank Castle when his truck breaks down during a nasty storm. Soon after finds herself in the crosshairs of an ugly conspiracy that threatens not only her life but the lives of her children).
Kin
A Brand New Ending (Reader and Michael had been on-again, off-again for years but that might soon change. Provided certain members of his family stop messing things up . . . and becoming a father for the second?/third? time doesn't scare him off)
Spider-Man
Legacy (Reader is daughter of Matt Murdock. When he disappears during the Snap but many of his enemies don't, she is loathed to have all his hard work in Hell's Kitchen destroyed. Becoming a lawyer will take time but punching crime in the face? That she can start right away . . . meanwhile Peter is also trying to uphold the legacy of his own mentors . . . Divergence: Tony Stark is dusted instead of Peter)
Adrift (Reader disappeared during the Snap. When she comes back . . . her friends are all five years older now and she has brand-new sibling . . . then she meets two other lonely souls - Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Post Spider-Man: No Way Home).
