Synthesized

Variety of inks started to fill out the sheet

Trying to capture words that would perfectly fit

Letters that are sharpened as the abrupt lightning,

Words which really are suddenly captivating,

Became my dancing thoughts that are strongly gripping

I saw you in bridle of the pen,

Writing things out as much as you can

With your usual smile that is unfeign,

And with your eyes which pleases me high,

Trully contradicts my 13th sigh

Always thought that you're the writer of this story,

And I am the paper with thoughts that may vary.

Regarding my wayward heart just for you

And a thought of me to set store on you,

Is giving myself a risk to walk through

You're the writer, I'm the one of a kind paper

Though we're not sure about how calm is the weather,

The universe sent vivid signs for our prayer,

Which made us believed in every possible state

That we are a synthesis who have met in fate

But as time went and passes by,

Things got blurred and covered up whys

No more smiles, only tears in my eyes

We're out of inks and seems nothing's sure

You come off tired, you couldn't endure

Yes, you are the writer of this story

You also have the thoughts that may vary

It's your words that I fell for and look at,

I thought you could might as well be my art

In the end, it was words that broke my heart

मेरी कल्पना का विस्तार हो तुम

इस थके पथिक की पुकार हो तुम

सूर्य का सौंदर्य हो तुम

चन्द्रमा की शीतलता हो तुम

मेरे मस्तक का तिलक हो तुम

मेरे शीश की शोभा हो तुम

मेरे जीवन का अर्थ हो तुम

इस नश्वर शरीर की आत्मा हो तुम

इस आत्मा की तृष्णा हो तुम

इस तृष्णा की तृप्ति हो तुम

मेरी मुस्कुराहट हो तुम

मेरे धड़कन की आहट हो तुम

इस दिल की चाहत हो तुम

मेरे शीश का ताज हो तुम

मेरे अंतरमन की आवाज़ हो तुम

इस भक्त की आस्था हो तुम

Poetry is an invitation to our fullest selves. To ignite & incite. It is a gift. Thank you all for sharing and for the love as it aired to 21 MILLION people during the #Oscars (it’s going to take me a while to process that). I’m overwhelmed in the best way, so much so that I stood outside of the theater for half the show trying to understand this moment. I spent a lot of my life waiting for permission to use my voice & feeling like I was doing girlhood wrong. I woke up yesterday & thought about all the LGBT girls of color who don’t fit in with the inherited scripts of womanhood, who—like me—prefer pants over dresses & like sports. I hope you feel a little more possible when you see this.
