...Vaulted with such ease into his seat, As if an angel dropp'd down from the clouds, To turn and wind a fiery Pegasus, And witch the world with noble horsemanship.

In art and literature, Pegasus (and by extension Chrysaor) was born from Medusa’s head fully formed, but wouldn’t it be funny if Pegasus and Chrysaor were born as babies so Perseus and Athena had to take some accountability for orphaning their monstrous cousins? Idk I just thought this would be amusing.
Also in my retelling, Perseus sneaks up on Medusa while she’s asleep and her sisters aren’t home, but he slips up and Medusa wakes up and they fought.

Literally my ONLY critique of the third episode is that Percy didn’t notice the horses voice in his head and go “wtf.” Hopefully when he meets the zebra later on he mentions it and is like “yeah I could hear some of the pegasi at camp, too. Kinda weird, right?” Because actually it’s so canon that when Percy finds out he has a power, he doesn’t broadcast it. Instead, he’s just like “oh. Cool. Interesting.” and goes on with his life. Like, the other characters only find out about his powers if they see him use them, or they bring it up to him, or they hear about it from someone else.

"The Birth of Pegasus and Chrysaor" (#7 in my "Quest for the Gorgon Head" series)
Part7 : But Perseus was not turned to stone by Medusas gaze, for he used his bronze shield as a mirror. Before Medusa could rise and attack, Athena guided Perseus sword-hand, decapitating the monster. From the bloody neck stump of Medusa, from Poseidon’s seed, two bizarre children were born; Pegasus the winged horse, and a son, Chrysaor. Not far off, the Gorgon sisters awoke in fury. There was little time. Perseus secured Medusa’s head into his Kibis, and fled into the night upon his winged sandals, while the screeching gorgon sisters sought the killer in vain.
Here we have another example of a strange, “higher birth” in Greek mythology. It brings to mind Athena’s birth, fully formed and armored, from Zeus’ cracked forehead.
Pegasus is an important figure in Greek mythology. In some versions of the Perseus myth Pegasus is ridden away, while in others, Perseus flees the gorgon upon his winged sandals.  Pegasus appears in another hero myth, being tamed and ridden by the hero Bellerophon to kill the fire breathing beast; Chimera. Later, Bellerophon attempted to ride Pegasus to Olympus, but Zues caused him to fall. Pegasus continued on to Olympus, joining the King of gods as his thunderbolt bearer, and receiving a constellation in the horses honor.

Fanfic Idea: Medusa is in Olympus now with Athena
Medusa was the head priestess in Athena's temple. Athena had her eyes on the beautiful priestess but things went south before she could confess.
Poseidon was angry after Athena took Athens and wanted revenge. He found out Athena fancied the priestess and Medusa was sacrificed to the wrath of a petty god. Athena was angry beyond imagination but wasn't powerful enough to punish one of the 3 main gods, especially when her own father committed such sin every now and then.
Athena couldn't look in the eyes of Medusa as she was partly responsible for what happened to her. She decided to protect Medusa from further harassment. Medusa was given snake hair and the power to turn men into stone so that everyone would fear her and wouldn't even dare to look at her.
But things never go as planned. Medusa was considered a monster and people wanted to kill her. She had to hide in a cave so that she wouldn't hurt anyone and was left alone but that never happened. Also, she was pregnant with Poseidon's child.
Meanwhile, Perseus was selected to kill Medusa, the woman Athena loved. And she was bound to help Perseus to kill her loved one. When Perseus reached the cave, Medusa wasn't asleep, she died while giving birth to Pegasus.
Perseus cut the head from the dead body and used it to get rid of the annoying suitors, but later took the head and body to Olympus. Hermes knew about this tragic love story and guided Medusa's soul to Olympus instead of the underworld. Apollo used his healing power to attach the body to the head and put the soul back.
Medusa later became a war commander under Athena. Athena sculpted Medusa's face on her shield to honor her bravery. She felt the proudest when she saw mighty Poseidon talking to the great war commander respectfully while bowing down his head.

Copy and pasted from elsewhere:
NEVER SAW IT THIS WAY. VERY POWERFUL POINT OF VIEW.
.
Medusa was a victim of sexual violence and the story you know turned her into a villain.
.
Medusa is one of the easiest-to-recognise characters in Greek mythology. With its unmistakable snake hair and the power to turn whoever looks at it into stone, it is one of the most popular monsters in ancient stories.
.
But there’s a part of their story that not everyone knows that will completely change your perspective.
.
Snake lady didn't always have a creepy appearance. Medusa was one of the Three Gorgon Sisters (a kind of female monster). Unlike Esteno and Euriale, she was the only mortal in the family.
.
Ovidio was a Roman poet considered to be one of the most important in Latin literature and was also one of the first to describe how the mythological being became a terrible creature.
.
The Encyclopedia of Ancient History quotes Ovidio briefly, but impactful. Medusa was a beautiful young lady and Poseidon wished her for him. The god of the seas attacked and raped her inside a temple dedicated to Athena.
.
The goddess took this attack as an offense and punished the woman by giving her snakes instead of hair and with the curse of turning anyone looking at into stone.
.
After that chapter, comes the most popular: the one where Perseus kills the "terrible" Medusa. King Polydectes was in love with Danae, the mother of Perseus.
.
His son did not approve of this relationship because he considered the sovereign lacked honor. To get rid of the son, Polydectes asked him to get the head of the gorgon.
.
As the Metropolitan Museum of Art points out, the gods helped Perseus in his mission and gave him gifts to ensure his victory. A key piece in her triumph was the polished shield of Athena, which allowed her to approach Medusa and avoid her dangerous gaze.
.
When Perseus beheaded her, from her neck sprouted the giant Crisaor and winged horse Pegasus. Both are considered to be Poseidon's children, which means they were the product of a rape and Medusa was pregnant when she was murdered.
.
It's not unusual news that Greek mythology is plagued with accounts of abuse and violence, but it's interesting (and tragic) to find out that Medusa is still remembered as a monster when her only "crime" was being attractive.
.
The victim was also the only one to receive punishment for Poseidon's acts. And even Athena created the flute to imitate Esteno and Euriale's lamentations after their sister's murder.
