When they try to make school harder for LGBTQ+ youth...we make it better.
Over the past 2 years, students across the U.S. have used our 50 States 50 Grants funds to...
Build gender-affirming closets and gender-neutral bathrooms at school
Host their school's first Pride fest or Pride conference
Educate parents and teachers
Fund their GSA club
And so many other rad projects to support their queer students!
Apps are open for Season 3 now through April 1, 2024 - if you have an idea for how you'd use up to $10,000 at your own school (or if you know someone in middle or high school who could), reblog and spread the word!

Children of Medusa headcanons
They would be immune to their mother's powers
I believe Medusa's children would be afraid of the ocean. They wouldn't go anywhere near it, and if they were at the beach, they would stay on the sand/land, far away from the water.
They would have the ability to speak and understand snakes. (Parseltongue!!!)
They would have a strong hatred for Poseidon and Athena's children on sight.
The children of Medusa would probably have recognized when someone was suffering from any type of abuse or assault like a sixth sense or something
Their hair can go from snakes to normal hair
They wear sunglasses as kids since they can't control their powers from a young age
Unlike their mother, their eyes turning people to stone power isn't permanent, but that person is stone for a long period of time.
Medusa would be such a helicopter parent (you can't tell me otherwise)
Their eyes would turn into snake eyes when using their powers
The children would definitely have the charm speak ability. It's kind of similar to Kaa the snake from jungle book, but instead of eye hypnosis, it's voice hypnosis, like sirens.
Snake themed jewelry (tell me I'm wrong)
The children of Medusa would definitely look out for each other and other demigod kids who feel like outcasts.
The Medusa cabin would definitely be seen as bad news and outcasts
I feel like maybe they could detect if someone was lying
They are devoted and loyal to fault
They would all probably inherit their mothers beauty
Often misunderstood
Medusa would probably claim her children by either her head hanging over her children or a snake above their heads
All I got for today. Enjoy. And let me know what you think

Medusa
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Medusa’s story symbolizes silencing powerful, beautiful women and the dangers of the female fatale being both enchanting yet deadly. Once an enthralling woman, Medusa was cursed by Goddess Athena after she was raped by Poseidon. This story symbolizes the normalcy of rape culture and societal blame on the victim, not the perpetrator. Her head also represents power. The ability to destroy one’s enemies. It has also been used as a protective symbol such as during the French Revolution to symbolize freedom and liberation. Today she still symbolizes divine feminine rage. A glaring symbol against patriarchal oppression as a women who had her bodily autonomy taken away and who was forced to live a life she did not choose as many of our female ancestors did. And many women still do today. All my paintings are acrylic on canvas. This piece sold the first day I had it hanging in my art vendor booth. It’s a funny thing the high rush of selling your art mixed with the grief of forever loosing a piece of yourself.

This new Interpretation of Medusa in the new episode of Percy jackson, as a survivor of abuse that directs her pain, because of missing justice, against people that she associates with her abusers, shows not only how much Rick Riordan has grown as a storyteller and interpreter of mythology but also how much we as a community have grown in interpreting and understanding the deeper meaning of mythological storys and the context they were made in.
