When you step into sunlight, you honor Apollo. When you admire the moon, you honor Artemis. When you admire cloud shapes, you honor Hera. When you smell petrichor, you honor Zeus. When you laugh at a joke, you honor Hermes. When your body twitches to dance at a particularly upbeat music, you honor Dinoysus. When you enjoy the first bite of your breakfast, you honor Demeter. When you choose your peace over any conflict, you honor Athena. When you warm yourself up by sheltering yourself in blanket, you honor Hestia. When you listen to Ocean sounds, you honor Poseidon. When you smell flowers, you honor Persephone. When you admire the coolness of first day of Autumn, you honor Hades. When you wear your favourite jewellery, you honor Hephaestus. When you smile, you honor Aphrodite. When you exercise, you honor Ares. When you light a torch in a dark room, you honor Hekate.
Your body is a shrine to Gods, your being an act of devotion for them. You, by yourself, are enough for them.

A little appreciation for the domains of a deity that don't get much attention/recognition. I'm making this because I do think it would be lovely if the aspects mentioned below got more attention, and additions not mentioned are welcome so long as it's an obscure part of them. This was going to be just a few and then I got carried away and did the main Twelve Olympians
A little love for:
Apollon as the God of Foreigners (the Arcadian friendship's harmony with Hermes being the god of travelers/way-god couldn't be any louder)
Aphrodite as a Goddess of the Arts (anything love-themed falls to her by default)
Ares of Civil Order, Defender, and Of Courage
Artemis as the Goddess of Dancing and equal Leader of the Mousai
Athene as the Goddess of Carpentry, Metalwork, and Sculpting
Demeter as Friend of Peace and Law-Giver
Hephaistos as the one with a delicate touch that creates beautiful works of art (It isn't so much unknown but honestly the thing I love most and not the first thing one thinks of with his talents/image)
Hera as the Skillful Bender of Language, Bender of Oaths and Promises
Hermes, God of Peace/Diplomacy, Divine Protector of All, as well as a God of Poetry and Knowledge (rightfully the other half to Athene)
Hestia of the Earth, Earth Dwelling and Delighting in the Works of Man, The One That Made Buildings
Poseidon of Fertility, the Plant Nurturer, and Holder of the Earth
Zeus of the People, Gracious and Merciful, Of Refuge, Counsellor

Small prayer to Lady Athena
Lady Athena, wise goddess, clever daughter of Zeus, I’m struggling right now and I need your guidance.
Mighty Athena champion of the battlefield, my life is swaying off the path of harmony.
Clear-eyed Goddess, sacred lady of Athens, please help me to regain my strength. Athena crafty sharp-witted goddess I pray for your aid in my struggles.
So be it.

and i sing to athena — o glorious goddess  who sent the heavens reeling as she stepped  forth. i sing to thee, bright-eyed & ever-quick, with your inventive fingers ever tracing the  mind to balance thought. i ask that you  strip away the clouds of unreason, bare only the purest of truth before mine eyes — o, favored goddess, bless my words so they are clear and ring resolute. give me the strength to  know the true mettle of those who rage against me. ready my hands like shields, my heartbeat like water,  oil and honey on my tongue — prepare me, o grey-eyed beauty, for victory.

Isn't it actually so beautiful that deities take the time to try and guide and teach us? How wonderful is it that they care for us so deeply that they'd share their wisdom, knowledge, and insight so freely? I think a deity's love is something to be cherished, and I cherish this. 🧡✨

Low energy Devotional Acts for when you don’t have a lot of energy (or time, or money, etc.) pt. 8
🌾Demeter🌾
- if able go on a walk and enjoy the outdoors doesn’t have to be anywhere fancy it could literally just be a walk around the block
- if you can’t go on a walk either sit outside for a bit or just open some windows for some fresh air
- play farming simulator (you think I’m joking but I’m not) or watch vids of ppl playing it
- watch documentaries or do a deep dive on farming and all the stuff that goes with it (maybe you’re wanting to know more about tractors, or farming techniques over the years, etc.)
- if able attend a farmer’s market or look into any that are in your area you don’t necessarily need to buy anything you could just go look around (I do that regularly)
- learn about the role of a farmer and what it’s like to be a farmer (I worked on a farm for a bit in high school and while I loved it I couldn’t do it as a living it takes a very special someone to do it) and look up ways you can support them
- learn about the native plants in your area
- watch foraging videos and learn about it (how to safely do it especially, if it’s something you wish to do at some point)
- if able support local farmers by buying their products (I know here in wi it’s not uncommon for farm stands to pop up this time of year and they sell all sorts of stuff for good prices! One in my town sells the best corn and for only $1 a piece which is perfect)
- point out cows, horses, sheep, goats, etc. while going by them in the car
- learn about homesteading and watch videos about it (though I will issue a heads up that some of these folks veer into uh….’crunchy’ beliefs so just be careful I guess)
- look up recipes you’re interested in trying, try to write your own recipe, or cook something using a family recipe/you’d own recipe if able
- enjoy a fruit, vegetable, or grain/bread product! Have some toast with jelly/jam! Have a salad! A fruit cup! The fruit/veggies can be frozen as well. It’s still that fruit/veggie.
- listen to a devotional playlist for Her
- listen to nature soundscapes
🦉Athena🦉
- learn your rights and by the gods I can’t stress this enough (if you rent learn your tenants rights, learn your workers rights, etc.)
- watch a war movie, show, or documentary (plugging Band of Brothers again because there’s some examples of excellent leadership and all that)
- read or listen to an audiobook about war (can be fiction or nonfiction- my personal favorite is Conversations With Major Dick Winters it’s great)
- listen to a devotional playlist for Her
- is there a weapon you’re interested in? Or maybe a style of combat? Or something else pertaining to combat? Read about it! Watch a video about it!
- if able pick up a handicraft of some sort: knitting, crocheting, sewing, etc.)
- if unable to do that watch tutorial videos for it (I can knit but can’t crochet to save my life but I love watching crocheting videos)
- read or listen to an audiobook about literally anything
- if you’re a student, and are able, do some studying
- or just watch documentaries or read articles and such about stuff that interests you
- if able play a strategy game if unable to do so look up videos for techniques for strategy games you like and pick up some new tricks for when you next play!
- if able do a puzzle (can be as simple or complex as you want)
- if able do something like a word search, sudoko, crossword, etc.

This is something they never tell you in the books!
Don’t tell everyone everything about your practice. Keeping secrecy around your spells and relationships with your deities is paramount to both your practice and your wellbeing. In our desire for community, we reach out, sharing what we have and what we’ve built with others to form friendships and bonds. But in my 7+ years of practice this has bitten me in the ass several times. Here are some reasons why:
• Not everyone has your best interests in mind. Some will want you to teach them years worth of knowledge for nothing. And feign friendship just for information.
• Whenever they fuck up, they’ll come running to you to fix it. (Points if they blame you for it).
• Some people will genuinely use this information against you.
• Something that works for you could horrendously backfire for others.
• The gods aren’t all loving and sincerely dislike (and even hate) some people. Your gods might have good reason to not want you to associate with this person.
Ever since I stopped trying to “teach”, or help, I’ve found a lot more peace and sincerity in friendships I made with practitioners. If you have gods you trust, get their opinion before associating with people. You won’t regret learning to keep secrets.
