My dad and I got this peace lily some time ago. Its flower things have died, but the green parts looked fine. Or, it did until the other day, when one leaf turned yellow. I saw online It could be caused by soil with too little nutrients or drought stress. So I took a closer look at its soil….
Well, it seems I found the issue. My diagnosis is root bound. I prescribe a bigger pot.

i genuinely could not get this out of my head so here are what dragons i think various owl house characters would have and why
.
.
eda - flame whipper
- heehee gecko dragon :)))
- flame whippers are super protective of their babies!! aunt eda is super protective of luz and king!
- flame whippers usually live in packs and don't like people, but babies are way more curious and open and tend to wander away
- eda probably picked up a baby flame whipper from somewhere and, upon being unable to find its pack, decided to raise it on her own, a la king.
.
- there's like a 50/50 chance eda names it something cool (like king) or a bad pun (like owlbert)
Tumblr media
.
lilith - deathburple
- they're so funky lookin...... take a peek at lili's raven out of staff form and tell me she won't love a funky lookin dude, i dare you. that palisman looks like a pure white frogmouth.
- lili's deathburple is almost certainly of purple and white colouring
- she'd probably name it, like. beelzebub or asmodeus or something. i like asmodeus the best, tbh
.
- anyways. deathburples are mischievous (like hooty), vain, lazy, fierce, loyal, and deeply caring. i think lili would absolutely adore her baby deus (and occasionally be a little frustrated with him).
Tumblr media
.
belos / philip - threadtails
- ......poisonous dragons. .....what else is there to say.
- i feel like philip wouldn't LOVE dragons, but he'd keep them around because of their use, similar to how he treated magic for a bit. he hated it and wanted it destroyed, but also... he needed it to get home.
- deeply loyal dragons. there would be no convicing them to not follow his orders. that manipulative, controlling bastard would love this.
.
- he doesn't name any of them because he has no love in his non-existent heart.
Tumblr media
.
hunter - typhoomerang
- typhoomerangs are anxious, high-strung, and territorial. these all fit hunter pretty well well i think.
- hunter's typhoomerang (he'd name her after a food- waffle, maybe, to fit flapjack) would see him as her baby. she takes one look at him and goes "anxious... aggressive.... yellow...... that is a baby typhoomerang. mine now."
- she tries very hard to make sure he is well-fed. hunter is utterly bemused by her offerings of raw fish. he will not be going hungry on her watch.
.
Tumblr media
.
luz - changewing
- honestly if anyone could befriend the living embodiment of severe social anxiety, it would be luz
- it's luz's adhd (and, later, ptsd) service dragon
- luz is its anxiety service human
.
- i'm gonna go with windsor for her changewing's name! she named it after red windsor, a type of cheese, and she thought it was funny bc haha dragon wind soar
Tumblr media
.
amity - swiftwing
- deadly nadder probably also would have been a good fit? but i already gave that to emira, and i wanna give everyone a different dragon, so a swiftwing it is!
- swiftwings are stubborn, brave, and committed. they prefer to stay close to their riders, and will do just about anything to keep them safe and healthy.
Tumblr media
.
this is the only image i could find :l no grown ups unfortunately
.
willow - hobblegrunt
- hobblegrunts are calm and peaceful, but they are still dragons, and therefore still dangerous- just like willow!
- hobbles have the ability to sense shanges in temperature, air pressure, and emotions. these could be pretty useful to a plant track witch
.
- since she named her palisman clover, she'd probably name her dragon something similar. hedge, maybe? leaf? idk
Tumblr media
.
gus - shovelhelm
- shovelhelms are social, friendly, level-headed, and intelligent. i think they'd make a good fit for gus, who is ALSO social, friendly, and intelligent!
- gus gives stupid long names (his palisman is named. emmiline bailey marcostimo.) so i'm gonna sayyyyy sebastian elias thiago will be his dragon's name
- seb is obsessively trying to build gus a nest at all times. gus often assists and is always bringing him new material. he wants the best for his boy, and that sentence means both gus for seb and seb for gus.
- sebastian also works as an autism & anxiety support dragon for gus! he's fantastic at helping gus recognize when he's getting overwhelmed or nearing a meltdown or depressive episode, and great at distracting him and helping him calm down.
.
Tumblr media
.
emira - deadly nadder
- constant grooming & focus on physical beauty from a nadder
- when well-trained and befriended, nadders are super affectionate and playful! good emira dragon :o
- nadders have super strong parental instincts, to the point where they'll adopt children of other species. emira's nadder probably sees her as its kid.
- i have.... no idea what emira would name her dragon :(
.
Tumblr media
.
edric - terrible terrors
- i cannot explain why. i simply think he'd have a small flock of terrible terrors following him basically everywhere.
- 100% they'd all be named something similar. there's grey, ray, jay, bay, fae....

The Blessed Damozel by Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1878)
The blessed Damozel lean'd out    From the gold bar of Heaven: Her blue grave eyes were deeper much    Than a deep water, even. She had three lilies in her hand,    And the stars in her hair were seven.
Her robe, ungirt from clasp to hem,    No wrought flowers did adorn, But a white rose of Mary's gift    On the neck meetly worn; And her hair, lying down her back,    Was yellow like ripe corn.
Herseem'd she scarce had been a day    One of God's choristers; The wonder was not yet quite gone    From that still look of hers; Albeit, to them she left, her day    Had counted as ten years.
(To one it is ten years of years:    ...Yet now, here in this place, Surely she lean'd o'er me,—her hair    Fell all about my face.... Nothing: the Autumn-fall of leaves.    The whole year sets apace.)
It was the terrace of God's house    That she was standing on,— By God built over the sheer depth    In which Space is begun; So high, that looking downward thence,    She scarce could see the sun.
It lies from Heaven across the flood    Of ether, as a bridge. Beneath, the tides of day and night    With flame and darkness ridge The void, as low as where this earth    Spins like a fretful midge.
But in those tracts, with her, it was    The peace of utter light And silence. For no breeze may stir    Along the steady flight Of seraphim; no echo there,    Beyond all depth or height.
Heard hardly, some of her new friends,    Playing at holy games, Spake gentle-mouth'd, among themselves,    Their virginal chaste names; And the souls, mounting up to God,    Went by her like thin flames.
And still she bow'd herself, and stoop'd    Into the vast waste calm; Till her bosom's pressure must have made    The bar she lean'd on warm, And the lilies lay as if asleep    Along her bended arm.
From the fixt lull of Heaven, she saw    Time, like a pulse, shake fierce Through all the worlds. Her gaze still strove,    In that steep gulf, to pierce The swarm; and then she spoke, as when    The stars sang in their spheres.
'I wish that he were come to me,    For he will come,' she said. 'Have I not pray'd in solemn Heaven?    On earth, has he not pray'd? Are not two prayers a perfect strength?    And shall I feel afraid?
'When round his head the aureole clings,    And he is clothed in white, I'll take his hand, and go with him    To the deep wells of light, And we will step down as to a stream    And bathe there in God's sight.
'We two will stand beside that shrine,    Occult, withheld, untrod, Whose lamps tremble continually    With prayer sent up to God; And where each need, reveal'd, expects    Its patient period.
'We two will lie i' the shadow of    That living mystic tree Within whose secret growth the Dove    Sometimes is felt to be, While every leaf that His plumes touch    Saith His name audibly.
'And I myself will teach to him,—    I myself, lying so,— The songs I sing here; which his mouth    Shall pause in, hush'd and slow, Finding some knowledge at each pause,    And some new thing to know.'
(Alas! to her wise simple mind    These things were all but known Before: they trembled on her sense,—    Her voice had caught their tone. Alas for lonely Heaven! Alas    For life wrung out alone!
Alas, and though the end were reach'd?...    Was thy part understood Or borne in trust? And for her sake    Shall this too be found good?— May the close lips that knew not prayer    Praise ever, though they would?)
'We two,' she said, 'will seek the groves    Where the lady Mary is, With her five handmaidens, whose names    Are five sweet symphonies:— Cecily, Gertrude, Magdalen,    Margaret and Rosalys.
'Circle-wise sit they, with bound locks    And bosoms covered; Into the fine cloth, white like flame,    Weaving the golden thread, To fashion the birth-robes for them    Who are just born, being dead.
'He shall fear, haply, and be dumb.    Then I will lay my cheek To his, and tell about our love,    Not once abash'd or weak: And the dear Mother will approve    My pride, and let me speak.
'Herself shall bring us, hand in hand,    To Him round whom all souls Kneel—the unnumber'd solemn heads    Bow'd with their aureoles: And Angels, meeting us, shall sing    To their citherns and citoles.
'There will I ask of Christ the Lord    Thus much for him and me:— To have more blessing than on earth    In nowise; but to be As then we were,—being as then    At peace. Yea, verily.
'Yea, verily; when he is come    We will do thus and thus: Till this my vigil seem quite strange    And almost fabulous; We two will live at once, one life;    And peace shall be with us.'
She gazed, and listen'd, and then said,    Less sad of speech than mild,— 'All this is when he comes.' She ceased:    The light thrill'd past her, fill'd With Angels, in strong level lapse.    Her eyes pray'd, and she smiled.
(I saw her smile.) But soon their flight    Was vague 'mid the poised spheres. And then she cast her arms along    The golden barriers, And laid her face between her hands,    And wept. (I heard her tears.)

12 indoor plants to energize your office space
Tumblr media
Post pandemic, people have become more health and ambience conscious. Living and breathing in natural surroundings is the new in-thing and that brings the concept of bringing the outdoors in. And the best way to do that is to include plants in the office interiors.
Plants have extraordinary powers to heal the soul, add freshness to your indoor or outdoor spaces and add an organic touch to your otherwise boring and mundane environment at work. Placing small indoor plants helps to improve the air quality and removes impurities sprucing up your work environment. You can also use large house plants to create separate boundaries between workplaces.
WeWork has agreed on the concept of “The benefits of indoor plants in the office”
LET’S LOOK AT SOME OF THE INDOOR PLANTS THAT CAN BE KEPT IN AN OFFICE ENVIRONMENT.
Jade Plant: Jade plants are small, succulent plants with small flowers which require minimal watering. In Japanese folklore, the jade plant is also known as the “money plant” known to bring in financial success.
Peace Lily: The peace lily is a large plant that not only fills in spaces but is also effective to clean the air. It can even grow in low office lighting and is ideal for an office without big windows.
English Ivy: English Ivy is a clinging evergreen vine that is efficient in reducing airborne faecal matter particles and filters out the formaldehyde. The English Ivy is ideal for such offices with a stale environment and lack of fresh air circulation.
Parlour Palm: The parlour palm is a small palm tree that doesn’t need much light and is ideal for creating a natural separation of space in your workplace. It adds a tropical feel and is perfect to amp up an office.
Snake Plant: The snake plant is an attractive plant that has tall leaves of bright yellow and green hues which are not only eye-catching but also are well-known as air-purifiers.
Philodendrons:  Philodendrons are large climbers and can add some height to small areas and open up the space visually in cramped areas. They also survive without a lot of maintenance.
Spider Plant: This is one of the easiest plants to grow indoors. It is often displayed in hanging baskets, so it can also create some visual interest in an office space.
ZZ Plant: The ZZ Plant is one of the most low maintenance plants which add a tropical feel to your space and also produce flowers.
Aloe: Aloe plants are small and can easily fit into office desks. It also has air filtering qualities and can efficiently remove things like formaldehyde and benzene from the air. The gel inside the aloe plant is also used to treat cuts and burns. Just cut your finger with that paper-knife? Just break an aloe leaf and apply the gel in the cut area. It’s useful, isn’t it?
Fittonia: This Fittonia, also referred to as the nerve plant or mosaic plant, is ideal for offices since it thrives on fluorescent light. The oversized, inside outlook on its leaves can be quite attractive and eye-catching.
Pothos: The Pothos Plant is a flowering plant that can easily fit into desktops and requires occasional trimming. It’s a low maintenance plant and can be kept at the desks aside for long periods without needing much care.
Azalea: Azalea is visually appealing and quite efficient in filtering the air to combat formaldehyde. This plant thrives mainly in cool environments, so you must ensure that the thermostat is low.
Do you love plants in your office space? What kind of plant do you prefer?

corpse x female!reader
summary: when the reader gets morning sickness during an Among Us game, Corpse and her expect the worst. And they get it.
word count: ~4.8k
warnings: swearing, vomiting, mentions of abortions, mentions of being pregnant, a little bit of suggestive content near the end but nothing happens
He’s finally asleep, you think to yourself as you watch your boyfriend’s chest rise and fall. He needed it.
Recently, Corpse has had trouble sleeping for more than three hours. You two had tried everything you could think of. You had tried staying up late to get him tired, you tried subliminals and music to get him to sleep. You even tried to give him a massage one time, but that led to other things.
You look over at the drawn curtains and pull them back a little. There, on the window, you have tin foil covering them. It’s a trick you learned from your dad when you were younger. When he worked night shifts, he had to sleep during the day, and he had trouble sleeping since your parent’s room had thin curtains. And so your father taped tin foil to all of the windows in their room so that he could sleep.
You’re not exactly sure why this seemed to work for Corpse, but you’re certainly not complaining. He looks so peaceful when he’s sleeping. He doesn’t look stressed, he doesn’t look sad. He looks so calm.
You lean forward and peck his nose. His breathing stutters and his nose wrinkles. You giggle and slowly, he opens his eyes. He blinks a few times and his brown eyes look around the room before settling on your face. He grins and your smile widens.
“That’s a pretty face to wake up to,” he mumbles and his morning voice makes you blush. “Oh my god, you’re already blushing.”
You blush even harder and bury your face in his neck. He laughs and hugs you around your waist. “Don’t make fun of me, asshole.”
He kisses your hair. “Morning, baby.”
“Good morning,” you mumble into his skin. You pull away so that you’re only a few inches apart. He leans forward and nuzzles your nose against his. Instead of kissing in the morning--you can’t handle his morning breath--you nuzzle your noses together.
“How’d you sleep?” you ask after you two pull away.
He smiles. “Really good, actually.” He chuckles and looks up at the window. “I guess the foil worked.”
You laugh and sit up. You’ve been awake for a little while and your stomach growls. “You hungry, babe?”
He nods and sits up as well, running a hand through his hair and shaking it out. “Can we have pancakes?”
“You can eat those, right?” you ask. You stand up out of bed and walk to the kitchen, your boyfriend trailing behind you.
“Yeah,” you hear him say. “Even if I couldn’t, I’d still want to eat them because you make really good pancakes.”
You smile. “Really? Thanks, babe.”
You get out the ingredients to make the pancakes when Corpse announces that he’s going to take a shower. You give him a kiss on his cheek and notice it’s a little scratchy. You grab his chin suddenly and he blinks at you as you run a thumb against his cheekbone.
“Want me to shave?” he asks softly.
You shrug. “If you want.”
He grabs your hand and presses his lips against your finger. He gives you a sweet little smile. “I’ll shave.” He squeezes your hand before walking back to your room.
After mixing all of the ingredients, you drop a few droplets onto the buttered up griddle. When it sizzles, you pour two medium-sized pancakes before going to search for the spatula.
When you find it in the dishwasher, you flip both of the pancakes and grin. They’re both perfect. You notice it’s quiet in the kitchen and call out, “Alexa.” You hear her go off in the living room. “Play some fall lofi.”
“Playing ‘Midnight Lofi - Fall Vibes’.
”You smile when it starts to come from the living room. It’s a little quiet, so you say, “Turn it up.”
The music starts to play a little louder and you smile more. It’s so aesthetically pleasing, lofi music. It’s probably one of your favorite music genres. Before you moved in with Corpse, you had to listen to something and you eventually began to fall asleep to lofi. But now that you’ve been living with him for almost a year, you don’t listen to it as much. Usually when you’re cleaning the house or playing music when you study for school.
You cook a few more pancakes and when you’re putting them on a plate, you have an idea. Corpse can’t eat chocolate because of his health, but you can. And you usually have a secret stash of chocolate in the back of the pantry. You’ve been craving chocolate a lot for the past week which is weird because your monthly hasn’t started yet even though it should have a few days ago. But you don’t dwell on that thought and pull up a chair from the small island and stand on top of it to reach the very back of the pantry. Your fingers skim the edge of the chocolate chip bag and you grab it between your middle and index finger. You grin at it and go to hop off of the chair when suddenly--
“What are you doing?”
You yell and you almost slip off the chair. Luckily, you land on your feet and wobble. You look up at your boyfriend when you regain your balance. He’s smirking and looking between you and the bag in your hand.
“Chocolate,” you tell him, making your way back to the griddle like nothing happened. “You know, just because you can’t eat it doesn’t mean I have to suffer with you.”
He laughs and leans on the counter next to you. “I know you have a stash, y/n.”
You look at him with wide eyes, stopping in your tracks. “You do?”
He nods. “Yep. I knew since the first month you moved in. You’re bad at hiding it, you know.”
You blink at him before shrugging, walking over to the griddle. “Well, you’re not allowed to have any.” You stick your tongue out at him and sprinkle the mini chocolate chips into the remaining batter. There are enough pancakes for Corpse, so you’ll just cook up the rest for yourself.
Usually, you and Corpse don’t wake up until after breakfast time since you have a habit of sleeping in. But when you can wake up early enough for breakfast, you both like to sit out at the small balcony and eat together.
“What are we doing today?” you ask Corpse, sitting across from him at the small metal table.
There’s a breeze and it ruffles his hair. “I was gonna stream Among Us later. You can play, too. My fans love you.” He smiles and looks down at his plate.
“As they should.” You flip your hair and the two of you laugh. “Yeah, I can play for a little while. I’ve got classes to do and a paper due tomorrow, though.” While Corpse is a Youtuber and a streamer, you’re a college student taking classes at San Diego State University, trying to get your major in anthropology and a minor in Spanish and engineering. “God, I have a test at the end of the week, babe. I’m gonna fail it,” you mutter, putting your face in your hands.
“What’s it in?”
“Spanish,” you tell him, pushing a blueberry with your fork.
He gives you a stare. “Babe, I’m literally half Mexican.” He laughs.
You throw the blueberry at his head and it bounces off onto the floor. “Shut up, stop making fun of me!”
He grins. “I can tell you the answers as you take the test. It’s online, right?”
You nod. “Yeah, I chose all online classes this year. I mean, you could. But that’s cheating.” You flip a piece of your pancake over. “And I don’t wanna cheat. I cheated all the way through high school. I want college to be different.”
Corpse grabs your hand and you look up at him. He’s smiling at you. “You’re smart, baby. You’re gonna do fine. You’re gonna get your degrees and you’re gonna be the best... what are you studying again?”
“Anthropology,” you tell him quietly.
“You’re gonna be the best anthropologist ever.”
You crack a small smile. “Do you even know what an anthropologist is?”
“No.”
You laugh and that gets him to smile. You lean across the table and press a gentle kiss to his lips. It’s a little sticky and sweet because of the syrup, but you’re not complaining.
Later that morning, after taking a shower while Corpse cleans breakfast up, Corpse says that he’s going to stream and you come and join him. There’s a monitor across from his that you use from time to time and a headset as well.
Your boyfriend sends you the code for the Discord and the Among Us game. Corpse looks at you from across the desks and you smile. He grins back and your stomach churns. You blink and wince at the feeling. You’ve been feeling nauseated for a few days now and you don’t want to get sick during a stream.
“Hi Corpse,” someone says as you load into the waiting room. You look back at the screen as someone gasps. “y/n! Best friend!”
It’s Sean and you laugh. “Hi, Sean.”
“y/n!” exclaims someone else and you realize that it’s Lily.
“I thought I was your best friend, Jack!” says Sykkuno and he sounds hurt.
You smile and move your character to the customization. You choose yellow and choose the leaf hat. Since your gamer tag is “lemon” you always try and be a lemon.
“Aw, y/n’s a lemon,” says Dave.
You laugh and run circles around him. “Hi, Dave.”
You hear him laugh and Corpse chuckles in front of you. You look at him and be flashes you a smile.
The round starts and the red “IMPOSTER” text lights up your screen. You’re paired up with Felix. You haven’t been the imposter with Felix too often, so you don’t know what to expect. You mute your headset and head down to storage to fake wires before going to fake another task.
You’re standing in the electrical room pretending to download data when Sykkuno walks in. You pull up the sabotage map and close the door before killing him and venting. You come out in the medbay and head over to the cafeteria.
When a body is reported, it’s Lily’s. You unmute yourself and bite your thumbnail as your stomach churns even more. You’re starting to get worried that you’re going to get sick.
“I found Lily in admin,” says Sean. “And I didn’t see anyone around.”
“Sykkuno is dead, too,” Julien points out.
“Oh shit,” you mutter and hold a hand over your mouth. You try to keep the bile from rising while everyone talks and you don’t bother to listen. You do hear someone say that they’re going to skip voting and you do the same.
When no one is ejected, you mute your mic once again and go to follow Corpse down to the shields. You stand beside him while he does his task. Sorry, babe, you think and kill him just as your kill cooldown reaches zero.
You smirk and run away in the opposite direction and you can feel him staring at you. You glance up at him and your smile widens. “What?”
He just shakes his head and you laugh.
You meet up with Dave and follow him around and fake wires with him. At one point, you and he cross paths with Felix and Toast. You may not know Felix too well, but any good imposter knows to go for a double kill. So as you run by each other in the cafeteria, you close the door and both you and Felix kill who you were with before venting away.
By the time you’re out of the vent and running away from admin, Dave’s body is reported. Your stomach feels awful now and you’re almost certain you’re going to throw up in the next thirty seconds.
“Fuck.” You unmute your mic. “It was me, I killed Dave. I’m the imposter. I’ll be right back.” You practically throw your headset off and run for the bathroom.
 ~
Corpse watches you practically run out of the room. For a second, he’s not sure what to do. Should he go after you? But he’s in the middle of streaming.
“y/n?” Sean asks. “Corpse, where’d she go?”
“Is she okay?” Julien wonders.
He nods even though no one can see him. “Y—yeah. I’m gonna go check on her. I’ll be right back.” He mutes his mic and takes his headphones off before leaving the room to go check on you.
He finds you on the tiled bathroom floor vomiting into the toilet. He curses and kneels behind you, pulling your hair back.
When you finish, he says, “This is the third time this week you’ve gotten sick, baby.”
You groan and lean your head on your arm. “I know. I don’t know why. Well, I—“ You cut yourself off and go still as if you suddenly had a realization.
Corpse tilts his head. “What is it?”
It takes you a few long moments to respond. “…My period is late. And I’m getting morning sickness. Plus I’ve been moody.” You turn back to look at him and he can tell you’re about to cry. “Corpse.”
You don’t need to say anything else. He’s already standing up, trying to ignore the pit in his stomach and his shaking hands. “I’ll go get you some tests.”
You grab his hand. “Corpse, no! I’ll go.”
He shakes his head and gets on his knees in front of you. “It’s okay, baby. I’ll be okay, don’t worry about me.”
Your lip quivers. “You don’t have to do this. I know how much you don’t like going outside. Really, it’s not a big deal, I can go get some.”
But then he kisses your forehead. “y/n, it’s okay. You need to rest. I won’t be out for very long.” He stands up after squeezing your hands. “I’ll be back in, like, twenty minutes.”
Before you can do anything to stop him, he turns around and goes to grab his mask and his wallet before grabbing your car keys. He doesn’t like to drive, but you’re worried and driving is quicker. And right now you’re the most important thing for him to be thinking about.
~
When Corpse leaves, you sigh and stay sitting on the floor for a few more minutes while your stomach settles itself. Afterward, you get up and brush your teeth after flushing the toilet. Deciding to get some school work done, you grab your laptop and head to the living room.
When you pass by his recording room, however, you see his monitor still on. You curse and head inside. He’s still streaming. You sit down and put his headset on and unmute his mic. “Hey, guys.”
You glance at the exploding chat as Sean asks, “y/n? Where’s Corpse? Are you okay?”
I’m probably pregnant. “Uh, I’m kind of sick, so Corpse went out to get me some, uh, stuff. Sorry, but we gotta go. Uh, it was fun streaming.”
“Okay,” says Sykkuno. “I hope you feel better, y/n.”
“Thanks,” you mumble. “Bye, guys.” You leave the chat and close the game before looking at Corpse’s stream chat. “Sorry about this, guys. I had fun streaming, though, I’m sure Corse did too. Have a good day.” You smile even though they can’t see you before ending the stream. You go over to your monitor and leave the game and chat in your own game. You lean back in your chair and press your hands in your eyelids.
You want to cry. You want to scream. You can’t be pregnant. You’re still a kid, you haven’t completed college yet. You and Corpse aren’t even married.
You suck in a shaky breath and wipe your damp eyes. “I’m probably not pregnant,” you whisper and stand up to go into the living room. “I probably just ate something bad. Yeah, that’s it.”
You sit in the living room on the couch with a blanket around your shoulders, trying to focus on your schoolwork. But you can’t. Your mind is too overwhelmed with the possibilities. You hope Corpse is okay. You know how much he hates going outside and being around other people.
You turn back to look at the lecture your professor posted and sigh. You just need to relax and calm down. Just wait until Corpse gets back and focus on schoolwork until then.
It takes a while, but he does come back. Some small voice in your head thought that he wasn’t going to come back, but you quickly pushed it away. Corpse loves you and he’d never leave you.
The front door opens and you look up from the paper you’re in the middle of typing. You meet him in the hallway where he’s taking his mask off, a plastic bag in his hand. He meets your eyes and cups your face in one hand.
“Are you okay?” he asks softly.
Your chin wobbles and you shake your head. Tears form in the edges of your eyes and you suck in a deep breath. “Did you get some tests?”
He nods hand hands the bag to you. But before you can take them, he grabs your wrist. “Hey. I’m not leaving, y/n.”
You nod before taking the bag from him and quickly walking to the bathroom. You’re scared to say anything because you know that if you do, you’ll start to cry.
Ten minutes later, you’re sitting on the bathroom floor with Corpse, leaning into his side as he rubs your shoulder. There are three tests on the counter and your boyfriend has a timer running on his phone for five minutes. So far, three minutes have passed. To you, they’ve felt like a lifetime.
“Are you okay?” Corpse asks quietly, finally breaking the silence.
You shrug, not entirely sure how you feel. “I don’t know. I’m scared.” You glance down at your stomach and place a hand on your naval. “If I am pregnant, I don’t know what I’m going to do. I’m young.” You look at him. “We’re young. I’m still in college. I can’t afford to have a kid!”
“I know.” He draws you closer to your shoulder. “But whatever you decide to do, I’m going to support you. And I’m not going to leave you, either. In case you were worried about that.”
Even though you shouldn’t have been, you were.
Luckily, Corpse changes the subject, going on to say, “I’ve been working on another song.”
 “Really?”
He nods. “Yeah. It’s kind of a lofi type song. I can show you the lyrics, later, if you want.”
You smile a little and look up at him, staring into his shining, dark eyes. “I’d like that.”
He smiles back and leans down to give you a small kiss. When you pull away, his phone rings, signaling that the timer is done. He turns his phone off and you stand up, walking towards the counter where the tests are. You pick one up.
One line.
You let out a breath of relief and turn to Corpse where he’s leaning on the sink. “Negative.”
He smiles a little. “What about the other two?”
You look back down at the other two tests. You pick one up and your heart drops. Two lines. You swallow and gently place it down as your hands begin to shake. Maybe that one is a false positive. There’s still another one. Whatever this one says will probably determine if you’re pregnant or not.
And so you pick it up. And you smack a hand over your mouth when you see two lines. You’re pregnant. You’re pregnant. The test falls from your hands and you fall to your knees, tears streaming down your face.
“Baby, what did it say?” Corpse asks, coming to your side and trying to coax your face into his hand. “Babe?”
“I don’t want a baby!” you exclaim through your tears. “I can’t handle that. I’m too young, I’m not ready. We’re not ready.” You lean into his arms as he pulls you towards him. “Corpse, I don’t want it.”
He nods and you feel him run his fingers through your hair. “It’s your decision, babe. It’s your choice. And I’m gonna support you either way if you want to keep it or not. If you do decide to keep it, then we’ll figure something out. If not, I’ll drive you there and get you In-N-Out or something.”
That gets you to laugh as you tighten your arms around him. “You’ll really buy me food?”
“Yes. I’d do anything for you.”
Your stomach churns that night as you’re scheduling an appointment to get rid of the clump of cells in your body. You’re nervous and Corpse was sweet enough to order you whatever you want for dinner.
You get off the phone as Corpse grabs the food from the delivery person and walks into the kitchen. He looks at you as he places the bags down on the counter. “So?”
You swallow and lean on the counter. “My appointment is in a couple of days.”
He nods and approaches you, placing his hands on your hips and drawing you to his chest. “It’s going to be okay, love.”
You lean your head on his chest. “Am I a bad person?”
“Of course not. It’s your body. You can do whatever you want with it. And besides, it’s not like it’s living anyway.”
You giggle as you try not to cry again. “What’s the baby gonna do? Remember it?”
Corpse laughs his deep and rumbly laugh and you grin. “True. But I seriously will buy you In-N-Out if you want. Or McDonald’s.”
You laugh again and tighten your arms around him. “Okay. And, Corpse?”
“Yes?”
“Thank you for being so supportive of wanting to get rid of it.”
He kisses your head. “Don’t thank me.”
When you and Corpse are laying in bed after watching a true-crime documentary, he’s gently dragging his nails up and down your back as you’re nestled into his chest. The tinfoil is still on the windows and it makes the room even darker. Which is actually the entire point.
Something had been rattling around in your head for the past few hours and you hadn’t gotten the courage to ask Corpse. But here, in the darkness of the bedroom the two of you share, you often ask each other stupid questions late at night when neither of you can fall asleep.
And it feels like it’s going to be another one of those nights because you’re wide-awake and you know Corpse is as well. And so you ask, “Do you ever want to have kids together?”
His hand abruptly stops dragging his nails on your back. “What?”
You regret asking him, but there’s no going back now. “When we’re older, would you ever want to have a family together?”
His hand begins to slowly go up and down your back once more. “Maybe. If you want to. If you want to have kids one day when we’re older, then I’ll definitely have kids with you.”
This makes you smile and you tighten your arms around his middle. “I love you, Corpse.”
“I love you, too.” He kisses your head. “Before we have kids, we should get married first.”
You grumble and say, “We’ll see who proposes first, then.”
He laughs and wraps his arms around your waist. “It’ll probably be you, baby. I’m too anxious.”
“Excuses, excuses,” you huff but the two of you laugh. “I’m too broke to afford a ring, though. You might have to settle with a Ring Pop.”
“If you propose to me with an onion ring and I would say yes.”
You giggle as something else comes to mind. “What about those cheap, plastic spider rings? Or the ones that come on cupcakes.”
Corpse laughs again and begins to scratch your back again. “If you do that, we would get married on the spot,” he says in that deep and gravely voice of his.
You grin. “I’m keeping that in mind.”
Corpse hums into your shoulder. “You’re not going to fall asleep anytime soon, are you?”
You shake your head. “No. Are you?”
“Nope.”
“What do you want to do?” you ask him, pulling away from him to look at his face through the darkness.
Even though you can’t see him too much, you know he’s smirking. “Well, there’s already a fetus in you. Want to see if we can get another one?”
You laugh and push his chest. “You’re disgusting, Corpse!”
He laughs and grabs your hands and lifts your arms up so he can roll on top of you. “Maybe. But it got you to laugh.”
You blush and turn your head to the side as he sits on top of you, holding your hands above your head. He starts to kiss down your neck and you sigh. “Corpse.”
He hums against your skin.
You bite your lip. “I’m not really in the mood, babe.”
Immediately, he stops what he was doing and lifts his head. “Okay. That’s fine, babe. It’s been a long day. Can we still cuddle, though?”
You nod and smile. “Of course. You can be the little spoon.”
“Yay!” he exclaims and climbs on top of you and rolls on his side. You get yourself situated behind him and throw one arm over his stomach and use the other one to play with his incredibly curly hair. Your legs get tangled together like they always do and you bury your fingers in his hair while he lets out a deep breath through his nose.
“Happy?” you ask him quietly and he nods. You squeeze his stomach with the arm you have there and kiss his head. “Okay. Try to sleep again, babe, okay?”
He nods, but both of you know you’re not going to fall asleep for a while. And that’s okay. You both sit there in the darkness talking about everything and nothing while you play with his hair and he holds the hand around his stomach with one of his hands. You don’t say anything else about you being pregnant or kids or how you want to get rid of it, and you’re glad. You don’t want to talk about it because you feel like a bad person for not wanting the baby.
Of course, you’re not going to change your mind. Neither you nor Corpse are ready for a child. But that small voice in your head tells you that you’re making the wrong choice or a bad decision.
But you don’t listen to it. You don’t listen to it that night while Corpse falls asleep again in your arms or when you’re in class the next day. Not even when you’re listening to a demo of Corpse’s new song in the car on the way to the clinic.
“It’s really good!” you exclaim as he parks in the parking lot. “I love it, babe.”
He smiles at you before glancing at the clinic. “Want me to go with you?”
You shake your head. “No, I’ll be fine. It'll take little while, though. So you can go do something else if you want to.”
He nods and leans in to give you a kiss. “Okay. I love you. Text me if anything goes wrong at all, okay?”
You laugh gently and nod. “Okay, I will.”
“Love you,” he tells you again as you’re putting your mask on.
You pull it down and smile at him softly. “You already said that, babe.”
He blushes and looks away. “O--oh. Sorry.”
You just kiss his cheek. “It’s okay. I’ll be back.” You pull your mask back up and gather your things before getting out of the car. You wave to him and then make your way into the clinic.
And Corpse did stay true to his words about getting you In-N-Out after your appointment. He even paid for it and got you a milkshake, too.
That night, after finally dragging Corpse away from his computer so he’ll at least try to fall asleep with you, you begin to think. You feel better after your appointment. Before, you were incredibly stressed out and even a little depressed. But afterward, you felt so much better. You felt like you could breathe and no have to worry about throwing up or eating the wrong thing.
And you didn’t regret getting an abortion. You and Corpse both knew neither of you are ready for one and that’s okay. You’re both still young and still new to being together. But as Corpse hums some song against your neck with his nose buried in the skin there, you feel the vibrations from his throat against your shoulder. You sigh happily and push a hand into his hair and gently scratch at his scalp. You feel him smile against your neck and you can’t help but mimic it.
Yeah. You and Corpse aren’t ready for kids. But maybe you will be one day.

I’m sorry, but the tag list is closed. It’s just too stressful for me to keep adding them. I’m sorry, guys. Also sorry to everyone who messaged me to add them because I didn’t write them down and can’t access my messages now. Still love you guys! x.

lake house
Cas is usually up first, sitting on their back porch, looking out over the still water while he takes a sip of his tea or leafs through his book. Lately he’s been into birding, and a thrift-store bird-book find has taken up permanent residence on the porch swing.
Other days, he goes on walks around the lake, lets the dew dampen the soles of his feet--he never brings his phone, but he tells Dean I’ll come back, I’ll always come back.
(Dean believes him, because it’s the truth.)
Today, though, rain pounds on the eaves of their house, a house with creaky stairs and one leaky window in the sunroom (which Dean refers to as the greenhouse, because Cas keeps all his indoor plants there) and a big yellow kitchen with flea market barstools that Cas sits on while Dean cooks.
Cas stretches languidly in their bed, Dean still sound asleep beside him. Technically, they don’t have plans for the day. There are things they need to do at some point--Dean’s been promising to touch up the paint on the back siding for at least a week, and Cas needs to figure out why his peace lily is dying, and they promised they’d bring something to dinner with Sam and Eileen tomorrow (Dean is advocating for making a pie), but none of it’s pressing or immediate.
And he could get up, could watch the rain fall out the back window or sit on the porch still. The first time it rained here, Cas even went out in it, fully clothed, which made Dean laugh until Cas convinced him to come, too. There was something cleansing about the water of the earth, which might be why Cas also loves the lake practically at the edge of their backyard.
But Cas doesn't really feel like getting out of bed, so instead he just sits up and switches on the little lamp on his nightstand and starts reading--when he’s not reading his bird book, it’s usually trashy mystery novels.
Cas is just getting to the part where hard-boiled Detective Henry Samson is attempting to seduce his client Natalie, whose husband died under “mysterious circumstances,” when he feels the mattress shift and then a comfortable weight in his lap.
He looks down to see that Dean’s awake now, smiling up at him sleepily, and Cas uses one hand to run his fingers through Dean’s hair.
“Mornin’, sunshine,” Dean says, voice gritty with sleep, and Cas lets out a small laugh.
“It’s not really sunny outside today,” he replies.
“So we should stay in bed?” Dean asks, before reaching up to take Cas’ book and toss it over onto the other side of the bed.
Cas slips back down under the comforter, sighs as Dean’s arms wrap around his waist. “Now I’ll never find out who killed Natalie’s husband.”
“It was either a jilted lover or Natalie herself,” Dean replies, “That’s always how those books go.”
“Mmm,” Cas replies noncommittally, already being lured back into sleep by the steady thrum of the rain on the roof and Dean’s warm body against his.
It’s okay to take their time, because now they have tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow, and Cas wouldn’t have it any other way.

KW 2021: Blending Cultures
Day 2 for Kataang Week 2021 hosted by @kataang-week with the prompt Blending Cultures!
Definitely one of my better oneshots this week, mildly inspired by that one tumblr post talking about how the cloudbabies' mixed heritage should've been more highlighted in LoK. Hope I did it justice!
Links: AO3 | FF.net
Summary: Another year, another summer, another week of prompts celebrating our favorite couple. Kataang Week 2021 Day 2: Blending Cultures. Aang and Katara were from two very different cultures, but they made their family work anyways.
Word Count: 2.6K
The Air Nation and the Water Tribes.
Two extremely versatile societies, with rich cultures and very diverse people.
From these two societies came two very special people, who against all odds managed to create a beautiful life together: Avatar Aang from the Southern Air Temple and Master Katara from the Southern Water Tribe.
From the very start, Aang and Katara intertwined their traditions in ways not many believed were possible in the fresh post-war era.
Their wedding, the beginning of their family, had been the grandest event in over a century for both nations given that the war had prevented such festivities during its reign of terror. That day was to be a sign of healing, of peace, and of celebration as their friends and family from all four nations came together at Air Temple Island in honor of love.
Aang had been standing at the marble altar in long flowing robes of the brightest yellows, reds, and oranges. The warm smile on his face complimented the warm hues of his clothing, and a string of engraved wooden beads and thread tassels adorned his neck.
Katara, on the other hand, looked like the night to his day, wearing a deep, dark blue dress passed down from her mother. It had golden thread embroidered on the bodice and skirt to mimic the constellations sailors used to navigate the icy waters surrounding her home, and, in Aang’s opinion, it gave her an absolutely ethereal presence.
Bouquets of ice lilies, pink flowers that grew near the Southern Spirit Oasis, intermingled with the flowers of moon peaches grown at the Air Temples lined the halls of the temple as the bride and groom’s loved ones watched them perform each nation’s respective wedding customs.
As per Air Nomad tradition, the week before the wedding, Aang and Katara had visited the four air temples and meditated in front of each of the eternal tornadoes in hopes that the cardinal wind spirits would guide them in the right direction no matter where life led.
The pair had also gotten complimentary tattoos on their backs, right over their hearts (slightly above in Aang’s case due to his scar): yin for Aang and yang for Katara, to symbolize how they balanced each other and created harmony.
When they stood on the altar, their officiator, Hakoda, had tied three sacred red strings around their ring fingers. They were woven from plants growing around Aang’s original home, the Southern Air Temple, and symbolized the red thread of fate binding them to each other, their soulmates. The strings also stood for the three tenets of a successful marriage: trust, communication, and love, all of which they had plenty of.
The second part of the ceremony incorporated the Southern Water Tribe traditions. Around Katara’s neck rested her mother’s necklace, the symbol for water on one side and the symbol for air on the other, an addition by Aang (with her permission of course) so that she would never have to choose between wearing one pendant or the other.
After their hands had been binded by the threads, their two chosen tribal elders, Pakku and Kanna, stepped up with wooden bowls of navy paint in hand and gave them their marks from ice dodging all those years ago. Katara, once again, received a crescent moon in the center of her forehead, the Mark of the Brave, while Aang was given the Mark of the Trusted, a slightly curved arch that barely touched the tip of his arrow.
“Aang and Katara,” Hakoda began, “Your two marks show that you are the embodiment of bravery and honesty, and these traits will do you well in the years to come. You will always have courage and trust in one another, as those are your natural inclinations, but you must take care to incorporate logic and wisdom into your interactions and decisions with one another to remain as steadfast and stable as the undulations of the great ocean.”
He turned to the enraptured airbender, who was unable to tear his gaze away from his soon-to-be wife.
“Do you, Avatar Aang of the Air Nomads, vow to trust Katara, to accept, learn from, and return her courage and bravery, to love her through wind and hail, through blizzards and storms, in times of plenty and of scarcity, for as long as the moon guides the sea’s waves to shore?”
“I do.”
Hakoda smiled and turned to his daughter.
“And do you, Master Katara of the Southern Water Tribe, vow to have courage for Aang, to accept, learn from, and return his trust and honesty, to love him through wind and hail, through blizzards and storms, in times of plenty and of scarcity, for as long as moon guides the sea’s waves to shore?”
“I do.”
“Then let the spirits of our ancestors, the great Tui and La, and the cardinal wind spirits bear witness to this union and bless it as they have with all those before.”
Hakoda, Pakku, and Kanna all dipped their fingers into a small bowl of water from the Spirit Oasis and sprinkled it over the couple.
“You are now husband and wife. Welcome to the family, son.”
Aang and Katara both smiled widely and pulled each other into a tight embrace.
“We’re married,” the airbender whispered incredulously.
“I know,” she said back. “I was there.”
He laughed and swept her up in a kiss, taking care not to mess up her ornate braids as he closed the distance between them.
“I love you,” he murmured when they finally parted.
“I should hope so, you did just vow to love me no matter what.”
Aang rolled his eyes and pouted. “I’m trying to be sweet here, the least you could do is return the favor.”
Katara gave him an exaggerated sigh and rested her head on his chest, her arms draped around his neck and she closed her eyes in contentment.
“I love you too, Aang. Forever and always.”
“See now that’s more like it!” he grinned, making the waterbender chuckle.
“All that planning, all the months of stress and doing overtime to get the next two weeks off and planning and the wedding invitations and did I mention the planning?” The two shared a short laugh. “All of that and we’re finally here. We’re married. What do we do now? Where do we go from here?”
“Slow down there, Tara. We have the rest of our lives together to figure all that out. Let’s stay in the moment.”
“Rest of our lives. I like the sound of that,” she smiled.
“I did promise you that we would grow old together, did I not? I intend on seeing that through. For now though, the buffet will be starting and I’m famished. Let’s go eat!”
“You sound like Sokka,” she deadpanned, an amused glint in her eyes nevertheless. “Lead the way, my dear husband.”
The airbender gallantly gestured to where the rest of the crowd had already started heading. “But of course, my lovely wife.”
The banquet, like their wedding, was an exquisite culmination of food from all over. There were countless Air Nomad and Water Tribe dishes present, in addition to a few from the Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation like bean curd puffs, mochi, and, of course, Aang’s personal favorite, egg custard tarts.
Though Aang had reassured his bride during the wedding planning that she could arrange for as many meat dishes as she liked for her Water Tribe family, Katara had declined, saying that they could go without it for one day.
Instead, the feast had traditional southern foods like kale cookies, five flavor soup, sea prune stew (which Aang took extra care to avoid), and a new dessert that Sokka had been working on: spun sugar in the shape of a ball that he liked to call “cotton candy”.
The guests attending were especially excited for the Air Nomad cuisine present, as such a variety of foods from their culture hadn’t been seen in over a century. Vegetable-filled dumplings and bowls of savory mung bean curry sat on round platforms that rotated in the center of the tables. Golden platters held coconut macaroons, warm steamed buns, and a large variety of fruit pies made from the trees that grew on the mountainside next to the temples. There was also a special syrup made from maple trees that went over a fluffy Earth Kingdom delicacy called “pancakes.”
Everyone had an absolutely grand time, and the event was one talked about for quite some time to come, both with its political significance (the Avatar’s wedding wasn’t something that happened every day) and the symbolism it had for how the nations themselves could work together if they tried to create something beautiful.
The way Aang and Katara’s traditions mixed that very first day of their family was reflected throughout the rest of their life as they blended their cultures for their children.
Aang often took Bumi, Kya, and Tenzin to meditate by the lagoon for some tranquility and peace of mind. He reminded them of the importance of being open to new ideas and to look at things clearly and calmly. He helped them take on life as it came and have faith that they would always be led in the right direction by fate like a leaf being carried by the wind.
Katara also took the three to the lagoon on the southwest tip of the island, not so much to meditate but rather to observe the motion of ripples and the subtle movement of the water. She taught them to always have hope and to not be detached from their emotions. She wanted them to remain present in the moment, making sure they were aware of what they were feeling without being consumed by it- a delicate balance like the ebb and flow of the tides.
Once Bumi, Kya, and Tenzin each turned 14, their parents took them down to the South Pole for ice dodging, a Southern Water Tribe coming-of-age ceremony and rite of passage. As was tradition, their dad, Aang, was to take the three out on a wooden sailboat to navigate the treacherous and iceberg-filled waters of the Antarctic.
Though he wasn’t born in the Water Tribes, the airbender made sure to ask and learn all he could from Hakoda, Sokka, and Pakku so that he could pass on and perform those special father-child rituals.
No one was grinning wider than Aang when he awarded Bumi the Mark of the Brave for preventing the boat from capsizing, his heart had overflowed with joy giving Kya the Mark of the Trusted after she guided them through a narrow glacial pass, and he felt nothing but pure pride painting the Mark of the Wise on Tenzin’s freshly-tattooed arrow after his creative airbending solution to evade an ice blockade.
Despite his young age, Tenzin was an incredibly skilled airbender. Alongside Aang, he was one of the youngest masters in Air Nomad history, having earned his arrows in an extremely tear-filled ceremony a mere month before going ice dodging.
In fact, all of the kids were quite naturally talented at their respective disciplines. Bumi, a nonbender, took up many martial arts forms and combat styles, specifically “aikido” and “anipak.”
Aikido was an Air Nomad self defense technique. Though Aang taught all his children to use any form of fighting only as a last resort, he wanted to make sure they could protect themselves in a precarious situation. Aikido aligned with the Air Nomad beliefs of pacifism by relying on the principle of using your opponent's energy against them rather than being the aggressor.
Anipak, on the other hand, was the name given to the Southern Water Tribe style of combat. Bumi learned the ways of the boomerang and scimitar, a type of sword with a long curved blade, from his uncle Sokka and grandfather, who were delighted to teach him such a vital part of his heritage.
Both fighting techniques served Bumi well during his time in the United Forces and made him known as a great general, soldier, and leader, not just the child of two of the most powerful benders in the world.
As the only girl and spitting image of Katara, Kya learned healing and the Southern Water Tribe style of waterbending from her mother. Despite being a waterbender, she had the heart and spirit of an airbender like her father. She had a natural aptitude towards healing, much like Katara, but didn’t want to learn to fight. It wasn’t until Aang showed her how to incorporate airbending-like movements into her waterbending that she ever opened up to the idea.
Over the years, both parents taught her well, and, true to her nomadic roots, she went on to travel the globe and became a world-renowned healer who could most definitely hold her own in a fight.
Finally, the youngest of the three was Tenzin. With the weight of a whole nation on his shoulders, it was no secret that he held more of a connection to his Air Nomad side, but there was still significant Water Tribe influence.
Tenzin learned airbending from his father, Aang, but after years of watching his mother and sister waterbend, his movements became quite similar. He incorporated more redirection and punchier motions with his acrobatics to create a unique style of airbending that came from both cultures. These gave him an advantage while fighting and led to the thing that would earn him his mastery tattoos: the air wheel, inspired by a similar spinning water move Tenzin had seen Katara do.
The three cloudbabies had truly gotten the best of both worlds, and carried on their parents’ legacies by ushering the world into new eras of unity, peace, and prosperity.
Of course, despite all Aang and Katara’s efforts, there were still moments when Bumi, Kya, and Tenzin felt detached from their heritage. After all, they weren’t fully immersed in either society, having lived at Air Temple Island all their lives. Whether they were visiting their grandpa in the South or sitting in on an Air Acolyte lesson, there would often be a feeling of not quite belonging.
They were from the two rarest cultures in the world, and their combination had never been seen before. No one completely understood what it was like for them, not even each other. All three of them each had different relationships to each part of their culture, whether it was feeling closer to one or not feeling connected to either.
Katara and Aang did their best to assuage any fears or concerns they had, teaching them everything they wanted to know while also telling them that there was no pressure to learn, that they could go on to forge their own path and leave old traditions behind in the past, if that was what they wanted. And sometimes that reassurance helped, but sometimes it didn’t.
No family was perfect, and that held true for them. They had their fair share of problems, but at the end of the day, both Aang and Katara, as well as their children, were proud to be who they were. They were proud of their heritage, of where they came from, and of their unique set of traditions, and they wouldn’t give it up for the world.
So in spite of all the hardships, all the challenges, and all the struggles, with an abundance of love in their hearts for both each other and their children, Aang and Katara, two very different people from two very different nations, managed to create their own culture, a unique mix of Air Nomad and Southern Water Tribe traditions, just as beautiful and blended as their family.

ay whattup it’s the oikawa simp. but this time i bring you Suga knowing flower meanings and giving you different ones each day and also proposing using flowers
First thought: flower shop AU
Suga x reader
Extreme fluff and intensely googled flower meanings
Tumblr media
The first time he sees you, Suga is positive his heart stops. He watches you walk into his little shop, taking in the immense amount of plants with an awed smile.
“H-hello, welcome!” He greets, mentally wincing at his stutter. He couldn't help himself, he always got nervous around pretty people.
“Oh, hello,” you respond, looking away from the plant you were checking out.
“Are you looking for something specific or just browsing?” He asks.
“Actually, I’m looking to buy a housewarming gift for a friend,” you say, running a finger down the leaf of his favorite peace lily. “I thought maybe a plant would liven the new place up.”
“Plants are perfect housewarming gifts!” Suga beams. “Do you have a type in mind?”
“Uhhh, no, not really,” you admit sheepishly. “I’m terrible with plants. So I guess something pretty easy to keep alive?”
Suga laughs softly, stepping out from behind the counter to lead you to his houseplant section.
“Here are some of my most hardy plants. They can stand to miss a watering or two and aren't afraid of minimal sunlight,” he says. “Aloe vera is a great option since it also has medicinal properties. Excellent for burns.”
“Oh, really? That’s fascinating,” you reach out to touch the rubbery plant. “And that one?”
Suga swallows when you lean over towards the aloe, shuffling a step back. When he realizes your still waiting for an answer he jumps, embarrassed to be caught watching you.
“Oh! That’s a spider plant, really good for filtering toxins out of the air,” Suga says nervously, tucking his hands behind his back so he can't fidget with his fingers. “Also very easy to take care of. They can get really large too, so if you want it to keep growing just keep sizing up its pot.”
You hum, running your fingers through its leaves. “I think I’ll do both. I kind of want to try keeping another plant alive. Spider plant for me, aloe as the gift.”
“Sounds perfect,” Suga smiles, watching you pick out each one before walking back up to the counter. “Would you like to get pots while you're at it?”
“Oh, yes! Where are those?” You set the two plants on the counter.
“Back wall,” Suga points.
While you're busy picking out pots he wanders over to his flower section, putting together a small mix of flowers. He grabs a notecard with all of the flower’s meanings, a yellow ribbon, and hurries to tie them together before you get back.
Forget-me-nots, a few pink carnations, some white clovers, and a couple irises bring together his mismatch bouquet puzzle. He’s never been the bold, outright type when it came to romantic endeavors. His efforts are usually passive and more subtle. He just hopes this one isn't too abstruse. He just manages to slide the bouquet and card into the bag with your other plants before you're setting your pots down.
“Would you say these are a good size?”
“Perfect,” he says, looking away with a flush when he catches your eyes. “Gives them a little room to grow.”
You smile warmly at him, handing over your card to pay. Maybe it was a little sneaky, but he couldn't help himself.
Y/n Y/ln.
He’s never going to forgive himself for checking your card for your name. Curiosity killed the cat, he thinks, loading your pots into another bag.
“Have a good one,” he hands the bags over.
“You too!” And you're out the door, back into the hustling city filled to the brim with people. He occasionally gets returning customers, but in the plant business it’s not too common.
Goodbye, Y/n.
Tumblr media
It’s a month before Suga sees you again, and this time its not even in his shop. He’s out at the cornerstone, crouching in the candy aisle like a goblin looking to fulfill a late night craving for chocolate.
Sea salt and caramel or toasted almond, he debates as he stares at the two bars. Both are ridiculously overpriced but fancy chocolate is his weakness. He sighs and adds both to his basket.
“Oi! Plant guy.”
Plant guy? He turns, nearly dropping his basket when he catches sight of you waving from the end of the aisle. He gives a small wave back and immediately regrets acknowledging you because you start walking over. He can already feel the sweat gathering on his palms and his tongue become heavy in his mouth.
“Uh, hello,” he says.
“I got your flowers,” you grin, reaching into your purse to pull out the card with the flower meanings on it.
He can see that you've circled the meanings of the flowers he gave you.
“Oh,” he blushes.
“I thought it was pretty cute,” you fiddle with the card. “I’ve been meaning to go back to your shop but life has kind of been hectic lately.”
“You liked it?” Oh thank god, you don't think he’s a creep.
“It was really sweet,’ you say softly. “Don’t forget me, I’ll never forget you, think of me, and hope? Right?”
He nods, watching you list the meanings off the card. Each one makes his cheeks grow redder, why did he have to be so cheesy.
“I tried my best to keep them alive but they wilted after a week,” you frown.
“Well, cut flowers never do last as long,” he says. “How is the spider plant doing?”
Your wince isn't very promising.
“Also pretty droopy,” you admit.
“Can I ask what you're doing for it?” He tilts his head.
“Uhh, I water it like ever two weeks? And it gets I think a good amount of sun.”
“Spider plants need a lot of watering, try doing it once a week. And if you’re not sure about the amount of sun I suggest just putting it wherever you think it'd get the most. Spider plants do fine in partial sunlight but they thrive when it’s direct.”
“Thank you.” You say. “Uhm, I never caught your name?”
“Sugawara Koushi,” he replies. “And, uh, yours?”
“Y/ln Y/n,” you smile, holding out your hand. “Nice to meet you.”
Suga flushes as he shakes your hand. “You too.”
“Oh, wait! I wanted to give you this,” you bring out the card again. “Do you have a pen?”
“Uh-”
“Wait, I have one in my bag,” you grab it out, quickly scribbling on the card. “Here you go. See you around, Suga.”
He holds the card delicately, as if it could crumble if he gripped it too hard. Turning it over he sees that you've circled another one of the flower meanings along with your number next to it.
White camellia- you're adorable.
He grins.
Tumblr media
“Hi, you look lovely,” Suga greets and then brings out the small bouquet he put together. “These are for you.”
Attached to the bouquet is the same card you wrote your number on, this time with a few more circles. He could honestly puke with how nervous he feels, are flowers too much on a first date? How long would you enjoy this game of exchanging flower meanings?
You gasp excitedly, taking the bouquet and the card.
Awhile longer, it would seem.
“White carnations mean sweet and lovely and daffodils mean new beginnings,” you read aloud. “Suga-chan! You are so thoughtful, thank you.”
He blushes when you pull him down to kiss his cheek.
“Are you ready to go?”
Tumblr media
Suga feels as anxious as he did on your first date. His stomach is churning and the ring in his pocket feels like ice. He carefully sets the vase of stephanotis flowers in the center of the table, readjusting it several times so it looked just right. Throughout your relationship, you had both gotten into the habit of using flowers as unspoken messages for each other.
He frequently got you spider flowers (elope with me) as an inside joke between the two of you, usually bringing them on dates. This, however, was serious.
If I get through this I’m buying myself all of the chocolate I can afford, he swears as he straightens his tie. There’s a soft knock at the door so he takes one last steadying breath, and opens it with a smile.
“Hi, sugar,” he says, greeting you with a small peck to the lips.
“Hi! I’m sorry I’m late, traffic was...” You pause, staring at the table closely. “Koushi..”
When you turn around he’s on one knee, a black velvet box in hand.
“Uhm, I didn't expect you to notice that fast,” he laughs, opening the box. “I think I bruised my knee.”
You let your bag drop softly to the floor, your hands coming up to cover your mouth. “Are you serious? No spider flowers hidden anywhere?”
“Will you marry me, Y/n Y/ln?” He asks, beaming brightly.
“Yes, now get up here I want to kiss you,” you sniffle, grabbing him by his collar.
You can feel his smile against your mouth and the kiss is unbroken as he blindly slides the ring onto your finger.

Forgotten in the rain
The streets were empty and quiet, devoid of life, save for the occasional passing car, rushing and hissing over the wet asphalt. Dark clouds swirled in the gray sky, pouring their sorrows on the desolate city below. Most remained in their homes far away from the endless rivers of water falling from the sky, but not Sirius. No, he most certainly did not despise the grim weather or the rain. On the contrary, he rather enjoyed it, finding it peaceful and almost…serene. He liked to hear the sound of the millions of droplets of water clattering against the windows and cars, sliding down vibrant green leaves, falling on the ground, sinking into the earth and turning it into mush, and disappearing down the drains into the cold metal pipes. It calmed him, washing away the restlessness, pain, and memories, even if it only were for a few short minutes. A light, trembling wind fought his way into his body, past his leather jacket, chilling him to the bones, ruffling his wet hair. But again, he did not mind. A dark green leaf, the colour of Aisha’s eyes, detached itself from a low hanging branch, fluttering briefly in front of his face, before titling down and falling at his feet on the gray cobblestones.
Aisha…she was lovely. A smart, funny, gorgeous woman filled to the brim with joyous life. A temperamental, but kind soul. But it was not the same. Something was still missing inside of him, a small, but important void in his chest, almost as if he had lost something he had never possessed in the first place. And it hurt. He hid it well but it pained him.
He continued walking, immersed in his thoughts and not paying attention to his surroundings. Sirius was so distracted, that he did not notice the pots full of flowers standing on the side of the sidewalk and nearly fell flat forward on his face, as he tripped, knocking them over. White petals flew in the air, and gently settled on the dirty pavement, around withered green stems. Cursing he picked the, up, stepping on one in the process and leaving behind ugly black stains on the squashed flower. They were beyond salvaging.
With a heavy sigh, he entered the little flower shop, water running down his clothes and heavily dripping on the floor. His hair lay in wet black and gray strands on his face and neck, sticking to his skin, and his blue-gray eyes shone bright with curiosity in the dim lighting as he looked around. The place was small and dark, walls covered in crackled navy blue paint, and a couple of dingy light bulbs hung from the bare ceiling, casting their flickering light on the room. Flowers of every shape, colour, and size were cramped in glass vases, broken stems and yellowed leaves were strewn here and there across the floor, and dried bundles of faded pink roses and baby breath flowers hung upside down above the counter, suspended on thin strings.
Sirius stood there, immobile, holding the damaged flowers, at loss, when the green door behind the counter opened, and an old man appeared. He was very tall and slim, dressed in a knitted cream jumper and brown corduroy pants. His hair fell on his face in a mess of graying dark copper curls stricken with white locks, casting shadows over his eyes. He seemed oblivious to Sirius’ presence, nose deep inside a large leather-bound book he cradled tightly with one hand, a steaming red mug of tea in the other. Clearing his throat, the black-haired man walked up to the counter, running a nervous hand through his dripping locks.
“Hello, sorry…I…Uhm,” he stuttered.
The shopkeeper looked up, clever green eyes meeting a confused silvery blue gaze. It was as if a bucket of ice-cold water had been poured over Sirius, filling his bones with fear, chilling every inch of his skin with anxiety. Those brown flecks swimming in pools of emerald, those sun-kissed golden curls, the millions of little freckles peppering pale, once youthful now wrinkled skin, the warm wool of knitted cardigans, the sharp scent of burning hot tea that has just been brewed, the crinkle of rapidly turned pages…he knew all of these things. He was more than familiar with them. It all belonged to Remus John Lupin. It was his Moony. His Moony, who he hadn’t seen in years. Memories washed over him, flicking in his mind like a flipbook, rushing through the years.
The first time he saw the tall, lanky boy with gangly limbs on the Hogwarts Express, the nervousness written all over his face, clear as day, as he sat on the stool, the Sorting Hat heavy on his head and insecurity dancing across his taught features as the name “Gryffindor” resonated in the Great Hall. Sirius remembered the first year, spent in nervous glances and reclusion, the bitterness and resignation when his secret came out, and they found out he was a werewolf.
He remembered Second Year, when Remus’ smiles gradually got brighter and he became more comfortable, yet he still wouldn’t change in front of his friends.
Then came Third Year, and the whole Animagus process, where he finally saw what it was like to turn into a vicious beast once a month, what it was like to tear yourself apart and wake up the next day, just a little more tired and broken than the day before. Fast forward to Fourth Year where his problems with his family truly began, Remus’ constant worried glances, and that cold, dark Christmas Eve of 1974 where he, Sirius Black, appeared at the Potter's barely breathing, beyond hurt and wrecked.
He, of course, never forgot Fifth Year and the stolen, longing stares, the minute he realized he liked boys, and the precise moment he understood that the boy in question was Remus John Lupin, his best friend. He also recalled, with regret and sorrow, the time that he gave away Remus’ condition to Snape; an idiotic, dangerous, so-called prank that near,y cost him one of the most important people in his life.
And then Sixth Year and its tension, the first drunken kiss, the secrets, the lies, and the blissful nights spent at the very top of the Astronomy Tower. Sirius kept the memories of summer 1977 dearly, reminiscing of the sweet warm nights, the bonfires, the day the rest of their friends found out about him and Remus, and the pure joy and happiness of those few weeks.
He remembered Seventh Year and the mounting fear, hanging heavy in the air, the worried whispers, and the empty, saddened stares...all things that perdured even after Hogwarts.
Then came the War, accompanied by mourning and grief, only brightened for a few moments by James’ and Lily’s wedding, and then Harry's birth. A joy that didn't last long, as Sirius’ rapidly deteriorating relationship with Remus finally broke with the death of their best friends and his unjust imprisonment.
He remembered every excruciating full moon of the twelve years spent in Azkaban, every other remaining day blurring into an unintelligible mess, slowly sinking into insanity, with no knowledge of Remus’ whereabouts.
He remembered, without doubt, the first time he saw his godson, Harry, all grown up, looking just like his father, brave and kind, having survived more than he had ought to. And then there was Remus too, looking exhausted and grayed, only a pale, faded shadow of his former self. The next few years were spent between Order missions, confrontations with Death, and the same old, familiar stolen glances. They attempted to rebuild their relationship, yet they never regained that special, magical even, bond.
And after the War, Remus disappeared. At first, they exchanged weekly letters, which then got rarer and rarer, until they stopped coming altogether and for years, Sirius knew nothing of him. Until now.
“Excuse me, sir!” said Remus waving his hand awkwardly in front of his face. “You...wanted something, right?”
The other wizard suddenly shuddered, blinking, as if he had just been roused from a trance.
“Yeah, sorry...I...um...was just, you know...thinking,” he stuttered, blushing.
His former friend raised a sarcastic, amused eyebrow.
“I just wanted to pay for these flowers I sort of...destroyed. By accident of course!” Added Sirius hastily, watching him apprehensively.
“That’s alright, I should have thought to bring them in a while ago already. It’s curious, really, you remind me of someone I used to know a long time ago. His name was Sirius Black. Quite a peculiar name, isn't it?” he replied pensively.
A flare of hope lit up inside Sirius. Maybe, just maybe, he remembered and recognized him.
“Remus?” he asked quietly.
“You know me?”
A look of surprise crossed his face.
“I…,” he hesitated. “No. I thought I knew you but I guess I was wrong. I must have mistaken you for someone else, I’m sorry.”
“Oh, that’s alright, it happens to everyone from time to time,” answered Remus lightly. “Do you want anything else?”
“Maybe white roses, for my girlfriend.”
“Excellent choice! These are my personal favourites” he said, reaching for a bouquet of snowy white roses, with soft petals and lush, dark green leaves.
“I know they are,” thought Sirius bitterly. “You told me in Third Year on a lazy summer day that white roses were your favorite flowers because your mum’s garden was full of them.”
“I’m sure she will love them,” he smiled.

My Very Sad Peace Lily
Hi guys,
Unfortunately, it seems to be my peace lily’s time. I’ve tried everything and I mean- EVERYTHING. She just keeps getting droopy and yellow. Every time anew leaf pops up, another one dies.
I watered it whenever the top of the soil was dry and repotted as necessary. But, she was one of my first plants and I think it all stemmed from a beginners mistake. One that is super common! I found a cheap, very cute decorative pot. This pot doesn’t have a drainage hole, which can cause a lot of problems. Incorrect drainage, or in my case, no drainage at all can cause root rot and lots of other problems that can put your plant in critical condition. In some cases if you realize it soon enough, you can repot it to a pot that has better drainage, and all could be well in the world. In my case, I think it may be too far gone, but we’ll repot her and see what happens.
As always, I will keep you updated!

How to Connect to the Elements
Water:
·         Immerse yourself in water or in a shower and feel the water
·         Listen to the rain, the waves, the babbling brook, lakes, ocean, stream, river
·         Meditate by water
·         Drink pure water
·         Scrying with water
Air:
·         Feel the wind on your face
·         Breathing exercises
·         Burning incense
Fire:
·         Feel the heat from a fire
·         Looking into the flames (scrying with flames)
Earth:
·         Walk barefoot through grass
·         Take a walk/hike through a forest
·         Mediate by a tree
·         Hug a tree
·         Spend time outside at night
I feel the most connected to the classical elements because growing up I felt connected to them.  There are many times I have stood under the shower head and felt the water fall over and wash away my worries.  I have felt the wind on my face and felt comfort.  I love the smell of a bonfire or a candle after it has gone out. I am most connected to woods and forests.  My favorite thing to do is sit under a tree and read or even meditate. I have already felt a connection to these elements. There is an aspect to all the elements that brings me peace.  Which is why I complied a few ways to connect to all the elements ones I have done in the past as well as ones I would be willing to do in the future.
