it just hit me that crowley as a character is especially attractive and sympathetic to kids and teenagers because he’s the “cool moody sexy rebellious one” whereas aziraphale is deeply uncool, typically follows the rules, and is not conventionally attractive. so of course the kids and teenagers on this website are going to defend crowley at all costs even if it means having cruel and uninformed opinions…
this truly explains everything to me

Ok so maybe I see this in a unique way because I’m a child of abuse and had narcissistic parent. But multiple things can be true at the same time. I hate how the internet is so incredibly black and white. Drake was absolutely sexually tortured for months as a child by someone he worked with who had SO MANY red flags and no one cared. This is a fact. It went to court and everything there’s documented FACTS. Now it can also be a fact that he SA-ed a teenager himself and has allegations against him. These things can be true at the same time. Sympathizing with someone for having something terrible happen to them doesn’t mean they are now 100% absolved from sin and get unlimited get out of jail free cards. It just means we are humans and so are they. It means people can be complicated and carry on cycles of abuse. It means trauma can make people do terrible things and even turn them into bad people when they get older if they don’t work to heal themselves.
When we all come together and say “poor teenage Drake! I’m so sad that should have never happened!” some people are acting like we are patting him on the back for sending dirty picks to a teen and being like “it’s ok buddy, completely understandable!” It’s getting infuriating especially on this site because we of all people should understand how deeply attached we get to our media. Us tumblr girlies should absolutely relate to being 13 and being in love with Drake and Josh and obsessively watching all these shows and buying the magazines with them in it only to find out now as adults that these people were being tortured for our entertainment.
Both things are true at once. The human experience especially when it involves abuse and trauma is incredibly complicated. I can be so terribly sad that this all happened to him because I care about the celebrity version of Drake I loved as a kid while also side eyeing adult Drake in case he himself is now in the darkness and hurting other people. We are complicated enough to feel multiple things at once people get it together.

RWBY Volume 9 Episode 7 - The Perils of Paper Houses
Long story short: I’m so on Ruby’s side here that it’s borderline making me angry. I’m seeing a lot of “Ruby and Jaune are both right/wrong” takes and on this one I have to say no. While I sympathize with his trauma, I still think Jaune was 100% out of line here.
[tw for mentions of suicide]
I really can’t stand how some people are like “Why is Ruby yelling at people uwu?” as if we didn’t all want her to snap? She shoud have yelled more and gotten even angrier, tbh. She’s been suffering the entire volume and the others barely checked up on her. Of course she’s pissed at them for not noticing and just expecting her to pick up Cresent Rose and be fine.
Yes, Yang tried to ask if she was okay a few times throughout the volume, but it was always in a brief “Hey, you okay?” way, but not in a really meaningful “let’s sit down and talk about this, you’re clearly going through a lot” way. When Ruby passes out after hearing about Penny’s death, no one asks if she wants to talk about it. “No time.” (To be clear, I’m not blaming Yang for any this, the “Yang’s a bad sister” people need to shut up. Sometimes we have our own stuff to deal with and don’t notice that someone close to us is hurting. It happens. I’m just saying that from Ruby’s distorted, depressed, grief-ridden point of view, it might feel to her like Yang doesn’t care, even though that’s not true.)
Weiss tried to talk to Ruby about Penny and have that conversation, but after Ruby shut her out, there were several moments were that consideration didn’t come through. When Ruby couldn’t get to nose hairs on time, Weiss was the one to say “Ruby, come on. We got everything else.”
Tumblr media
And in this scene Ruby is clearly torn up over Penny’s death, talking about how she was drawn to her sword, and no one talks to her about it or comforts her. Instead Weiss complains about how it’s “raining on just us” and then the team proceeds to talk about how to get back to Remnant while letting Ruby just sit there.
Heck, none of the others even commented on Ruby giving away her emblem!
And really, this might be my Nuts and Dolts shipper googles talking, but I think a lot of Ruby’s anger at her friends boils down to her grief for Penny. Penny was Weiss, Blake and Yang’s friend, too and yet none of them (from Ruby’s point of view) seem to be grieving for her. (Of course Ruby doesn’t know what happened after she passed out in episode one. For all we know WBY could have had a really long and deep conversation about Penny right there that we and Ruby missed.) But what Ruby sees is that they just all lost a mutual friend who meant a lot to Ruby in particular and the others seem to just be fine with it. Weiss is more busy mouring for a piece of land rather than a living person, a friend. Blake and Yang have are happy and sorted out their mutual romantic feelings, which Ruby sees as a betrayal because a) our friend just died, how can you think about romance and happiness right now? and b) she’s jealous that Blake and Yang get to be in love and together while the girl she loves just died. (Yes, that is my shipping googles talking, but it’s what makes the most sense to me.)
And then let’s look at this episode:
Tumblr media
Right of the bat, Ruby’s not sleeping. How long has she not been sleeping for? Has anyone noticed that she’s always tired? Has no one noticed that her usual cheerful attitude has been completely gone for the entire volume? (Seriously, just rewatch bits of a older volume and the whiplash will hit you.)
Tumblr media
Blake: “Ruby, where’s your weapon?” (translation in Ruby’s mind: You’re supposed to just be fine and fight like everyone else now.)
Ruby: “Oh, sorry, still waking up.”
Weiss: “Hurry! People are counting on us!” (Yeah, really not helping there. None of them noticed that she doesn’t want to pick up Cresent Rose or have the responsibility of protecting people.)
Tumblr media
Blake: “He’s obviously been through a lot.”
Yang: “Yeah...”
Blake: “We can be frustrated later. Right now, Jaune needs us.”
Ruby’s thoughts: “Oh great, so when it’s Jaune, you recognize that he’s been through a lot and you think taking the time to be there for him is more important than moving on right away and trying to find a way out of here. But where was that energy for me? When I was suffering alone with Penny’s sword in my hand, you only talked about getting out of here asap and didn’t care to be there for me or take time for me. There was no ‘we can be frustrated about being stuck in a fairytale later, right now Ruby needs us’ for me.”
(And again, only Little notices that Ruby’s not okay.)
Tumblr media
Weiss: “Then who does that leave us with? It’s obvious we need someone to guide us or we could end up getting thrown back in time, or killed by the tree or worse.” (Translation in Ruby’s head: “We can’t count on you to lead us.”)
Tumblr media
^Everyone’s expression when listening to to purple paper-pleaser. (Ruby’s thoughts: “Oh great, they have compassion for someone they just met but when I’ve been low-key thinking of wanting to ascend and be someone else the entire time, none of them even picked up on it.”)
Tumblr media
Jaune: “They don’t know what they want! Afterans are all either too smart, too stupid, or too crazy to trust!”
So Jaune not only doesn’t respect what the paper pleasers actually want, from the way he’s talking about them he doesn’t even seem to genuinely like them. The way he’s frantically trying to keep them from ascending is him coping with his own trauma of not being able to save people, but it’s all about him and how this makes him feel, not about them. Yes, Ruby was out of line calling them Jaune’s “make-believe friends”, but I don’t quite buy people’s “she insulted his family!” takes when Jaune himself doesn’t seem to really respect them.
Tumblr media
“Wanting.” ... Yeah, there’s something here that Ruby’s not okay with and not over, I can’t quite put my finger on it.
Tumblr media
God, I want to slap Jaune so hard right here. Accusing Ruby of “standing around” and telling her to help her teammates... Dude, first of all, who are you to give Ruby orders and snap at her? Last I checked you weren’t her boss or her team leader. And if you were observant enough to see Ruby not help her teammates, how did you miss the part where she didn’t even defend herself? She’s the one who just almost got eaten by a Jabberwalker becasue she was having panic attack and you’re blaming her? Shut up.
Tumblr media
Yang: “Ruby? Are you o...”
And again, Yang tries to ask if Ruby’s okay but gets interrupted.
Tumblr media
And this to Ruby must have felt like a betrayal in a way, too. Yang was about to ask her if she’s okay, they were all about to finally listen to her, but instead the village got destroyed and now everyone’s off comforting Jaune instead. (And the problem isn’t that they comfort Jaune, it’s that Ruby didn’t get this sort of comfort over Penny’s death. The paper pleasers aren’t actually dead, they’re getting reborn like they wanted. Penny - as far as we know - is actually dead and Ruby must be thinking “Where were my words of comfort? Where were all of you with your compassion when I needed it?”
So yeah, I 100% get Ruby snapping here, it was about time. And to me  “Oh, I’m sorry, should we be mouring Jaune’s make-believe friends?” definitely had the undertone of “I’m still mouring for my very real friend over here, who had her whole life ahead of her and was tragically murdered and who all of you seem to have just forgotten about.” (Of course Jaune did absolutely not forget, but Ruby doesn’t know that.) Also, given her friendship with Little I’d read this less as “they’re make-believe because they’re not real people” and more as “they’re your make-belive friends becasue you weren’t really being a friend to them.”
And also yeah, sorry, I’m not usally a Jaune hater, but he was 100% in the wrong here. I’m seeing some takes that “they both had some valid points” and no, they didn’t. “The walkers came for you because Neo hates you!” How is that Ruby’s fault? How is a crazy criminal being after her Ruby’s fault? “And let’s not forget the reason we’re in the Ever After in the first place: It’s becasue of your plan that didn’t work!” Jaune, did all those years here make you lose your memories or some shit? Because as I recall you all made that plan together. You all sat around that long table at Schnee manor and came up with this plan together. You, Ruby, WBY, Oscar, Ozpin, Penny, Emerald, Ren&Nora, Whitey, etc. But now that it didn’t all work, it’s suddenly just Ruby’s plan? Nah, shut up. And what else would you have suggested, Jaune? What other clever, better plan did you have up your sleeve? Ironwood was going to blow up Mantle if you all didn’t come up with something within an hour and you’re seriously blaming Ruby? Fuck all the way off.
And even in his apology, Jaune makes it all about himself. He doesn’t even really apologize to Ruby, he directs it more at WBY and then starts talking about his own pain, again taking the focus away from Ruby’s feelings. I do sympathize with Jaune, I really do. He had to do something horrible, had to deal the killing blow to a friend at her request and he’ll never be over that. Then he got transported back in time, had to spend all that time alone with his guilt and grief, couldn’t (as far as he knows) save Lewis either. I know he’s been through absolute shit, I’m not trying to not be compassionate here - but none of what he’s been through was Ruby’s fault in any way and blaming her when she’s already in such a fragile mental state was 100% unjustified and uncalled for. So yeah, I’m gonna say it: Shut up Jaune, she should have punched you.
“On that bridge... I was the only one that could do it, I was the only one!”
Yeah, about that... Ruby still doesn’t know what exactly happend with Penny. She and Jaune had their fight and that still didn’t even come up. I saw some people say that we’re supposed to assume Jaune told them off-screen, but I really don’t think so. The writers wouldn’t leave something that big that Ruby should have a huge reaction to for off-screen, imo. And if they did that’s terrible writing. (Still, Blake and Yang look like they know what he’s talking about?? Idk, this left me confused. I really hope we’re still getting our scene about that.)
Tumblr media
Their faces when Ruby tells Blake to shut up. I think (or at least I hope) it hit everyone here that Ruby’s really not okay and needs more than just a little pep talk to be okay again. (No amount of trying to stay positive is going to bring Penny back. I know I’m looking at this through a shipper lense, but like...)

After the last chapter is it okay if we ask for your take on the AA argument? Or AA in general? Emma and Courtney’s convo maybe made me geek out a bit and now I’m so curious because there’s so many angles to take.
absolutely i love talking ace attorney! i started off as a miego shipper but then became a lanamia shipper so i can see both sides to courtney and emma's convo lol. i think mia and diego have more basis in canon for being a couple and i like how diego was intertwined with the fey family drama. however he literally did not tell maya about this plot to kill her and instead did convoluted stuff to protect her which still involved killing her mother when he could've prevented all of that in the first place. though my memory of that case is fuzzy and i understand there needed to be a murder for there to even be a case in the first place. but i think the writing could've been better bc it's hard to sympathize with diego after all that. also i don't know for sure if his misogyny is due to faulty translation or if it was the original writers' intent. as for lana, while her existence was a retcon (if im remembering right) i love her and ema and that whole case. damon gant is a big orange power man and he's going to beat the shit out of everyone (pbnt my beloveds). that intellectually attracted line is incredibly lesbian of lana and mia. they definitely dated at some point. it's also really funny to think of maya and ema's older sisters dating idk why. vibes. but yeah i think emma would see this emotionally repressed older sister character trying to protect her younger sister from all this trauma while being taken advantage of by an older man, hear the "intellectually attracted" line, and be like "oh she ABSOLUTELY had a thing with this hot smart spunky lawyer lady" while not realizing in the slightest that she's projecting. while i feel like courtney is very much someone who goes by canon and tends to enjoy canon relationships and shipping fanon relationships doesn't really occur/make sense to her. i think she also likes diego because he'll throw coffee mugs at the defense and she wishes she could be that violent in court one day. though by that criteria franziska would be her fav character. but i also think it would be funny if she found franziska really annoying and did not see the irony in that at ALL.
ANYWAY i love talking about ace attorney i love talking about what td characters would think about ace attorney please feel free to send me more ace attorney asks. those games got me through the height of the pandemic (in addition to total drama)

Repost: Ask on BTS Paving the Way
Anonymous: Hey bpp. You talked a little bit about the 'BTS paved the way' discourse on your pinned post but I'm curious to see - read? lol - more on your thoughts about it. If youve talked about it before, can you pls link? Since you might not want to discuss/rehash this at all lol. I got curious because this discourse seems neverending and i just watched a yt video essay abt it. Imo, both sides of the spectrum - army and kpop stans -seems to be missing each other's points. Like, i think a lot of kpop stans havent paid attention to what bts have contributed to kpop and theyve dismissed armys arguments entirely and i think a lot of armys havent been into kpop and kpop history to definitively say the stuff I've seen them saying. A lot of the arguments and statements are very inflammatory too and while I agree with what armys are saying, the language they use isnt going to make kpop stans listen - i mean, the ones who arent blinded by their hate for bts/army anyway lol like a lot of kpop stans think when army say bts paved the way/bts popularized kpop, they always think army mean popularized it in the west. When we have receipts of them doing spectacularly globally, especially in places like india where they seem to have exploded since dynamite. Theyve also broken a lot of records in japan, where kpop is already popular but still seem to have a lot of trouble penetrating mainstream bec theyre very insular. They also think that we mean 'first to xxx', which isnt really what we mean at all. And a lot of army seem to dismiss what older kpop groups have achieved too and just like to prop up bts while putting down other groups and dismissing what theyve achieved for the genre. I just think since a lot of armys are in kpop only for bts -same tbh - we tend to be ignorant of the genre as a whole, which isnt good bec we're always arguing x member is the best in the industry or even bts is carrying the industry on their backs, which dismisses a lot of great artists that are doing great work like solo artists like taemin. Like, I'm an army and I'm not a "stan" of any other kpop artists but the whole argument just makes me v v uncomfortable. I guess i still haven't adjusted to stan culture since i've never been a fan of any artists like i am of bts - to the point of joining the fandom and really immersing myself in it - so the intensity of it is still jarring to me. I know it happens with big western fandoms like taylor swifts too but i think i'm still old school when it comes to being a fan of a musician, you listen to the music, rave about it to friends and buy/stream the music and go about your day.

Hi Anon,
Anon, I sympathize completely and not to harp on you here, but my first instinct reading this was “who cares?” - this is generally how I feel about this topic whenever I see it, so not knocking you specifically here. And I’d just like to remind everyone there’s an active, senseless, and deadly war raging right now in Ukraine. Please donate and/or pray for Ukraine if you’re able to.
Tumblr media
(And then there’s the leader of Stray Kids who is probably a bigger ARMY than me at this point)
This is not me dismissing the gripes of stans of 1st and 2nd generation groups (the usual suspects), this is me saying that what I’ve seen of this discourse is huge swarths of people engaging in an elaborate exercise in collectively missing the point. And yes I’m also referring to those splitting hairs over the semantics of what it means to pave a road. (Heaven help us). And you already allude to this in your ask, anon.
The phrase: 방법을 만들다 which is what a lot of Koreans have used to describe 'paving the way’, is colloquially used to mean 'chart a course’ or someone showing how something can be done.
If this were a normal conversation with normal people and not k-pop stans, it would be enough to point out that yes, BTS was not the first k-pop group to step foot outside Korea or in the US, but BTS is the one group that has gone farther than any k-pop group has before i.e. created the new path. It’s really that simple. BTS has become a household name globally without doing a single show at Coachella nor having any of the mediaplay seen for other groups that attempted to fully break into the US market. The fact that Korea’s military enlistment laws (which before BTS were enshrined as basically unchangeable) have been modified at least partly on their behalf (and for the benefit of any idol who meets the criteria) and that BTS is the first k-pop group to receive a Grammy nomination, has created a new tier, the highest one yet, of what is possible for k-pop artists.
BTS is the biggest group in the world. They rival Coldplay according to Coldplay. Before BTS, the reality is that this ambition was not even within the realm of possibility for much of k-pop. Even with BTS breaking the records and gaining the influence they have, k-pop is still considered to be niche in some circles, though there is undeniably more visibility and investment brought to the genre since BTS started snagging headlines. Some people still hope BTS will go the way of Psy and BoA who were a fad on the Western landscape for a minute then essentially faded into obscurity. But so far, that’s not what has happened, and everyone is paying attention to see what BTS is doing right, that perhaps other groups can emulate.
BTS won’t be the biggest group in the world forever, but the chances that the next biggest group is a k-pop group, is significantly higher now because of BTS.
La fin.
It’s true some ARMYs can be downright disgusting with how they throw around BTS’s accomplishments and sometimes ignore, dismiss, downplay, or just straight up shit on older groups who made the first moves into Western spheres, whenever this topic comes up.
But a part of me understands them. When BTS won the TSA award in 2017, it felt like hell to be on Twitter and I wasn’t even an ARMY at that point. I did a search through my old screenshots and found more than 15 k-pop fandoms spent weeks shitting non-stop on BTS and ARMYs about how useless it was to win at the BBMAs. It was a non-stop barrage of racism, xenophobia, misogyny, all the -isms you can think of related to POC musicians. Though of course BTS was not the first group to go to the US, all of a sudden, k-pop stans were convinced BTS had 'sold out’, abandoned their heritage and were pandering to 'white colonizers’ (sound familiar?). I started calling myself an ARMY the next year (2018) and as I’ve said already, I was reporting things almost constantly. It was hell.
Tumblr media
*
You’re right this discourse seems never-ending because it is never-ending. Remember you’re dealing with k-pop stans who will argue with you that water isn’t wet if it means something positive for their group and some ARMYs are just as bad. Whenever I see people arguing about what paved the way I just mute that whole conversation. I sympathize with you feeling uncomfortable about this topic. I’d like to suggest doing what I currently do which is to not waste a single moment of a single day worrying about something that’s already obvious and settled. This particular discourse is the perfect example of a time sink imo, because really, who cares?

WoT Reread New Spring Chapter 5: The Human Heart
·I just love this peek into young Moiraine’s character. She is so shocked at the idea of a noble person shouting. Scandalizing.
·Siuan is so quick to take charge. It’s in sharp contrast to earlier when she had trouble with it. She’s more in her element calming down a riot than convincing someone to go a certain way. I would worry that it only works because she’s shouting at women (and what that would say that she couldn’t convince a man but women listened to her) BUT it is stated that entire camp went quiet with her voice. This also speaks to Siuan’s strengths. She needs to learn how to be subtly persuasive, but her sheer presence is affecting. In a ttrpg (Chronicles of Darkness) I play, there is a separate ability stat for Manipulation and for Charisma (both are under the social tree). I think Siuan at this moment in time is a perfect illustration of the difference between these two and what it means to be high Charisma and low Manipulation. Furthermore, it also contrasts with where Siuan was in the story while this was published. As of the Crossroads of Twilight, Siuan is the opposite in that she’s learned to lessen her presence even among non-Aes Sedai. This is mostly through doing Bryne’s laundry which I have thoughts on. She’s learned to up her Manipulation in the intervening years between New Spring and Crossroads of Twilight, and relies on it then.
·Babes. I hate the word babes, and it is thanks to this series.
·This noble lady has so much Karen energy.
·Moiraine does not think this adventure is that great. She would like to file a complaint with the Pattern.
·Moiraine believes in not making others suffer for her bad day. My history in customer service thanks her greatly.
·One thing I do think that the Amyrlin (and Moiraine) did not consider was that the child could have been born Aiel. There is a lot of assumption going around that the child will be on this side of the Dragonwall. I mean, Rand is. That does not change my opinion though.
·There is a really sweet moment here that makes me think of Rand, Moiraine, and how they are at the beginning of their journey vs later. Look, I will always find parallels between Rand and Moiraine, because I think there are a lot and that they are good foils in what is the same vs what is different about them. Anyway. Moiraine enters a woman’s name down in the books because she sympathizes with her plight, and she gives her money to take her child to a healer. She and her child are going to starve if they don’t receive help and they aren’t going to get it from the people around them. Now, I don’t think older Moiraine would not do the same in this relatively harmless situation, but she does place an emphasis when she gets older on helping who you actually can but focusing on the greater good. I’m thinking of the inn that got burned down in Eye of the World that Nyneave yelled at her for. There, Moiraine says that she will have the White Tower send money, but if she went back to help the inn she would be putting people that are more important at present in danger. She has shades of it here because she initially wasn’t going to put down the names, but Siuan made her take a closer look. It’s definitely a show of there being a small sense of idealism early on and believing you can save every person you meet and then a more pragmatic viewing of saving the world later on.
·Ah yes. Here comes Elaida. I don’t remember the name of the Aes Sedai with her which means she is either a background character or dead. It’s an ‘m’ name, so probably dead. We are also getting hints of the Aes Sedai hierarchy here, so it’s likely she’s more powerful than Elaida. I don’t think there was anyone more powerful than Elaida, Moiraine, and Siuan already in the Tower when the series started, so dead then.
·It’s sweet that Siuan wanted to stay until the last possible moment so that they could get as many names down as they could.
· Moiraine being a supportive girlfriend.
·Is Katarina one of the darkfriend reds in the series or is that a Katarine? I don’t remember.
·Okay so I remember Merian (I’m sure I didn’t spell that right. I listened/am listening to these books, okay?) the Keeper of Novices was a darkfriend. I think. I may be completely wrong about that, but I remember when I first listened to the book SOMEONE that seemed really nice and important was secretly a darkfriend, but this was only revealed super late into the book after they got to the Borderlands.
·I love that Moiraine hears her uncles are dead and just goes, “Sure. Probably deserved it.” Not in so many words, but that was definitely the vibe that she had going. Merian has no clue, and I don’t blame Moiraine for not sharing. I also didn’t remember that she got told this early. I thought that they had at least another day of taking names and that she got told around the same time they decided they wanted her to be Queen of Cairhien.
·Siuan being a supportive girlfriend.
· It is not wrong to not feel bad for the deaths of horrible family members. Do not punish yourself for it.
·This was such a sweet moment between the two of them, comforting each other between nightmares. We of course know who and what the Dragon Reborn is, but I can see how it would scare them and it’s nice to get the perspective of someone that is afraid of Rand, but pragmatic about it, and also does not know him.
I don’t really have any extra thoughts about this chapter. I made sure to pause the audiobook so that I could get everything out as it was coming to me. Maybe part of the reason that I paid better attention was the fact that I’m in less of a brain fog now or the fact that it is roughly in this chapter where I was planning to start the fic. We’ll see.

thanks for reading!!
(gif not mine. also i chose this because boss myoui is life. ehe)
=========================
You loved this game, but at the same time hated this game so much.
“We need to contest the payload! C’mon guys group up!” You spoke into the mic the Nth time that match.
You understood that, there always came a time every now and then where a team wouldn’t click. But when it came to the people you were currently playing with, you didn’t think you could sympathize with the notion.
10 minutes of average game time had never felt so draggy, and you cursed RNGeesus for matching you up with these people.—
— Save for that one teammate, who actually stayed with you by the payload the entire match. Because of them you didn’t feel so terrible, and felt less guilty for asking your team to push forward.
As predicted, your team lost. You sighed as a large “DEFEAT” flashed across the screen, and you left the lobby.
Not long after, a fanfare sounded and a notification popped up.
“Penguim wants you on their team. Accept invitation?”
Checking the list of the players from your most recent matches, you realized they were the one that stuck with you during the last match.
You accepted the request, and waited for them to speak.
“Hello?”
To your surprise, it was a girl’s voice that you heard through your headset. The voice continued.
“Sorry for the sudden invite. I was hoping we could play a couple of matches together as a team, is that okay?”
“Sure! I’m fine with that.” Teaming up is always nice.
“Great!” You thought you could hear a smile from her voice “Same mode as last time?”
“Okay. Let’s hope we end up with someone who actually knows how Escorting works.”
It turned out the two of you made an excellent team, and “a couple of matches” became something longer.
You added each other before logging off, promising to team up more when playing in the future.
=====
The clock was ticking, and your team was yet to capture the first checkpoint.
Even though you guys were doing pretty well so far, the enemy team’s defenses were also borderline flawless.
And so it went on…
“You need help over there, penguin?”
“I’m fine! I got— ah shit, I died.”
“It’s fine, I’ll try to sneak behind them and use my ult. Focus on keeping them busy after rez.”
“Roger that.”
As sneakily as you could, you made your way behind the enemy line and got into position. You took a deep breath, hoping this would work, and set your plan in action.
QUADRUPLE KILL , the in-game narrator announced.
“Go! Push forward!” You switched to the team chat and shouted into the mic. Since your position was revealed because of your kills, the remaining enemy team members would be after your head. And there was no way you'd survive an angry tank and a very angry DPS with only half a health bar left.
They did eventually find and kill you, just in time for your teammates to arrive and finish them off right after. Because of your sacrifice, the team finally captured the point and can advance to the second (and last) checkpoint.
In the end, your team won in a clutch moment executed with your side throwing Ultimates left and right, resulting in a team kill. It was enough time to capture the checkpoint, after a very intense five-minute overtime.
The both of you left the match, not without seeing you getting voted as the MVP.
“GG, Penguin. Nice ult back there.”
“GG. We should thank you for getting on the first point, though. That one was awesome!”
“Nah, I just got lucky that’s all.”
 “Always so modest.” She joked.
She then sighed.
“I think I need a break, my hands are sweating like crazy.”
“Okay, I’ll log off too. Man, that was too intense.”
“You wanna chat somewhere else?”
 “… Do you have Discord?”
“Yeah. Gimme a moment, I’ll send my user over.”
=====
The two of you started to chat more once you added each other on Discord, even during times outside of gaming. You had to admit, you were starting to really enjoy her company.
Both of you learned quite a lot about each other during these past few months. You exchanged names (“You can call me Sharon.” she said.); you learned that you both liked the same color (it was purple); you also learned that she used to take ballet classes, but stopped when she got into an argument with her parents during her teens. Among other things.
You also learned that Penguim sometimes woke up at the weirdest of times. When asking why, she said she sometimes liked to wake up earlier to exercise before going to work. You weren’t sure what her job was exactly, but you appreciate that she always made time to chat or game with you in the midst of her busy schedule.
One morning, at 5:28 AM.
Penguim: “Mornin.”
Y/U/N: “Whoa, you’re up early today.”
Penguim: “Did you even sleep???”
Y/U/N: “Well yes… but actually no.”
Penguim: “Go to bed omg.”
Y/U/N: “Ehhhh.”
Penguim: “C’mon be good lol. I’ll wake you up for lunch.”
Y/U/N : “Fineeee. If you say so, mom .”
Penguim : “Well. Someone needs to take care of your ass, unfortunately.”
Y/U/N: “I agree, my ass is kinda cute.”
Penguim : “… Y/U/N .”
Y/U/N: “Hehehe. Love you too <3. Gnite~”
Penguim: “Good night, Y/U/N.”
=====
The two of you also established a routine.
You’d greet each other after waking up, and greet each other before going to bed. She’d send you messages while you were sleeping, so you won’t feel alone when you woke; you also did the same for her.
Sometimes, however, you felt that your friend had something that she needed to get off her chest. You assumed it must have been work stuff, since she would sometimes vaguely describe how tiring it was, and sometimes she would even get stressed over it.
But she couldn’t talk about any details, saying that she signed an NDA. While you respected her privacy, you still wished that she’d open up and rely on you more.
But why?
To be honest, as your convos got more and more frequent, Penguim had been occupying your thoughts for longer periods of time. You found yourself caring about her a lot, and there were also times that you hoped that she would feel the same for you.
But why ?
You’ve definitely pondered over this more than once the past couple weeks, and in the end you finally came to an awkward conclusion.
In short, you’ve caught feelings for your online best friend.
Oh boy.
This is going to be a problem.
======
Penguim: “What else do you do besides game and work?”
Y/U/N: “Let’s see.. sleeping, and kpop.”
Penguim: “Kpop huh. Fav group?”
Y/U/N: “Twice, no doubt.”
Penguim: “I approve. They’re cute.”
Y/U/N: “I see the Penguin is a kpop aficionado.”
Penguim : “You have no idea.”
You didn’t expect to talk about your kpop interest with Penguim, worried that if you start talking you’d bore her to death, but she didn’t seem to mind it at all.
Y/U/N: “Do you have a Twice bias?”
Penguim: “None in particular. You?”
Y/U/N: “Mina.”
Penguim: “How so?”
Y/U/N: “She’s cute, pretty, elegant, cool, good at singing, and a natural comedian. Her voice is also very soothing, I think I can listen to her all day.”
Penguim: “What about me?”
Y/U/N: “Wdym?”
Penguim: “You said you’d enjoy listening to Mina talk, do I bore you when we do vc?”
Y/U/N: “Nooo no not at all, I also like hearing your voice. I really enjoy your company.”
Penguim: “Ehe, I’m glad then.”
And you meant what you said.
=====
It was midnight, and you were planning to go to sleep early for once when Penguim called you on Discord.
She was crying.
You tried to ask her what was wrong, but she didn’t give a specific answer. Instead she asked you to stay, and stayed with her you did.
She sniffled.
“I’m so sorry for calling you at this hour. I had no one else to go to, and you were the first person I can think of calling. Work has been so stressful for me, I don’t really know what to do. I know I can’t reveal much and god, it’s killing me inside.”
You wished you could reach through your phone and give her a big hug. She was obviously trying to keep quiet so her dorm mates couldn’t hear, and you couldn’t ignore the ache you felt as you listened to her shuddering breaths.
She continued.
“I know how unfair it is for you to keep taking care of me, when I can’t give you anything in return. On top of that I have a biggest crush on you and —oh fuck, did I just say that out loud?”
Did you just hear it right?
Your ‘friend’, who you cared for and lost a bunch of sleep over. Actually liked you?
She likes me back?
You almost dropped your phone.
Holy shit! She likes me back!
“—Y/N, are you listening? Crap I’m so sorry I shouldn’t have said anything, this call is a mistake—“
“Wait.”
“Huh?”
You took a deep breath. Here goes nothing.
“Hey, Penguin. Wanna hear a TMI?”
“O-okay?”
“Today’s TMI: I really, really like you.”
“….Shit. Really?”
“Yep, for a while now, actually.”
“Since when?”
“You know that time when you overslept, but still called me when you got ready?”
“Oof. Yeah, I got scolded that day.”
“It was at that point I realized, I really wanted to share those little moments with you. Even if you’re unable to do that right now, I’ll still be there for you no matter what. And I was hoping you'd be okay with it.”
She was silent for a moment, you held your breath.
She then spoke.
“I, again, am sorry to have called you like this. But talking with you makes me feel safe, if that makes sense. It’s like I can trust you, and I can just be ‘me’ without being judged.”
“So yes. Yes, I’d like that, Y/N.”
Even though you exchanged names, you’d still call each other by username. You were surprised when she called you by your name.
And you kind of liked it.
“Hey, I always got your back. Don’t worry, Penguinie.”
“Just like the time I tried to storm the line in Verdansk?
“Just like the time you tried to storm the line in Verdansk.”
She let out a watery laugh.
“That was awful though.”
“Indeed it was. But I had fun..”
“Same. It wasn’t so bad, since you were there with me.”
Her words brought a bubbling warmth throughout your being, but you pushed it down for now. As there was a more serious matter at the moment that needs to be addressed.
“How are you feeling now?”
“Much better, thank you. I know you’re curious what happened, and right now I’m not able to tell you the details. But I promise that I’ll make it up to you, and tell you about it someday.”
“That’s okay, take all the time you need. I’m just glad you’re feeling better now. But ah–”
You glanced at the clock, and grimaced.
“-- You have work tomorrow right?”
You heard her swear under her breath.
“Yep. I have to get up at four.”
“What?! Go get some sleep.”
“I will, I will.”
She paused.
“Y/N?”
“Yeah?”
“I likey likey you too..”
“Ahem.” You cleared your throat, ignoring the blush flaming your cheeks.
“Good night, Sharon.”
“Good night, Y/N.”
“I- I should hang up now.”
“Yes, you should. We both need to sleep.”
“But I like talking to you.”
“The feeling is mutual, but sleep.”
“Sharon…”
“Y/N…”
“…Fine. Joahaeyo , hehe!”
“Y/N!!”
“Hehehe. Good night, Sharon.”
“Good night, Y/N. Sweet dreams.”
After (finally) hanging up, you marched over to your bed, planted yourself face-down and screamed into the pillow. And it’s safe to say, your thoughts were occupied by a certain Penguim that night, and you drifted off to sleep with a smile on your face.
=====
Not much had changed between you two after that night, but interactions had become even more frequent. You’d both sometimes call or message each other during work hours now, helping each other through their day while keeping each other company.
One evening after work, you were at your computer, playing a random game while messaging Penguim on Discord. She was still at work, so you sent her a couple of messages to cheer her on.
You also had a browser window open on Vlive, because someone from Twice just started broadcasting, you were watching to see who it was.
It was Sana and Momo, they were eating snacks. As fans piled in, they waved to the camera and started to chat about various topics with Once.
Not long after, SaMo waved over someone who was offscreen. And a wild Mina appeared, now the J-Line was complete.
Mina sat on the left and Momo sat on the right, with Sana sandwiched between them. While Mina was engaging in conversation with SaMo, she was also absentmindedly typing on her phone.
A Discord message popped up, it was Penguim.
Penguim: “I’m still at work :(“
Y/U/N: “Aw, poor bby :c. You had dinner yet?”
Penguim: “Yup, I did. You?”
Y/U/N: “I did too. Watching Twice V-app now.”
Since you were deep in conversation with Penguim, you missed the way Mina’s eyebrows shot up during the broadcast.
Penguim and you talked a little bit more, before she said that she needed to go back to work.
At that moment, two things happened at the same time.
First, Mina on Vlive lost the grip on her phone, and it fell to the ground with a dull thud.
Second, you received a videocall from Penguim.
Curious as to why she would suddenly call you on video (since you both never did), you muted the broadcast and clicked to answer.
What greeted you was a dark screen, like something was covering the camera. There were also muffled voices in the background, but you couldn’t tell what they were saying.
Maybe she called me by accident? You thought to yourself.
What was interesting, was that the voices in the call somehow overlapped with what the girls were mouthing out in the broadcast.
Hm, funny. I swore I muted the video already.
Although, what happened next was definitely unexpected.
Penguim apparently did drop her phone, since you saw the screen shake, which indicated that the phone was being picked up. As you turned to look at the screen, you saw… Mina?
You quickly glanced at the Vlive, and saw that Mina was bent over, to pick up the phone she dropped.
Penguim- no, Mina - finally realized that she made a video call to you on her end. And the two of you had an awkward staring session of three seconds before she ended the call.
What in the world just happened?
Checking the broadcast, you saw that Mina had resumed an upright position, but she looked like she had seen a ghost.
The other two Japanese girls asked her if she was alright, Mina said that she was fine, but she wanted some of the chips that Momo was munching on.
“You know, if you want it you could’ve just asked~” Momo teased her while handing the bag over. And the rest of the Vlive happened without issues.
In which, it gave you much needed time to ponder over what exactly happened within the last thirty minutes.
======
The two of you hadn't spoken since the incident, and a couple of days had passed.
There were many times where you wanted to grab your phone and give her a call, but you always stopped short, thinking that she probably needed time to think things over.
Although, if it was possible, you liked her even more after what had happened. She was a worldwide superstar, yes. But from your interactions, you felt that she was one of the most down to earth people you’ve ever met in your life.
You were willing to continue this relationship, but it’s all up to her whether she wanted to continue.
Couple days later, a call startled you from your afternoon slumber. Half asleep, you answered it without checking the caller ID.
“Hello?”
“Hey, it’s been a while.”
Wha—? You bolted up from your reclining position to look at the phone, and saw it was on videocall.
Rubbing the sleep from your eyes, you squint to see that it was actually the Myoui Mina on the other end of the line. You were suddenly wide awake.
She looked amazing, as usual. But you noticed that there were darker circles under her eyes, and you couldn’t help but feel guilty for being the cause behind it.
“H-hey.”
“How are you, Y/N?”
“I’m fine. I’m more worried about you, though.”
“I’m doing okay, the past few days have been kinda rough.” She looked sheepish. “But hearing your voice made it all better.”
“I guess we need to talk about what happened.”
“Yeah.. I guess we do.” You could sense that she was nervous.
Mina started.
“I know this is a lot to take in, but I meant what I promised. I wanted to tell you who I am, because I know the topic of meeting up would happen sooner or later.”
“But then our conversation about your Twice bias came up. Even though I was really happy, and thankful to learn that you think so highly of me. I became worried, worried that once you knew who I really was, you would start to only like me because I’m an idol.”
She sighed, and looked down at her hands.
“But I also knew that it’s an irrational thought, because I’ve been talking with you this whole time. You’re a genuine person, Y/N, and that’s what I always liked about you.”
“I considered the possibilities on where this could be headed, including blocking you and never talking to you ever again.”
She looked into the camera again, a new type of glint in her eyes.
“But I can’t imagine living in a world where you don’t exist, now that I really got to know you.”
“So, Y/N. Are you willing to give me a chance?”
Listening to Mina’s heartfelt confession, you felt the weight had been lifted from your shoulders. You suddenly find yourself fighting the urge to cry.
“Yes!” you sniffled. “Yes, I’d like that. I did promise I’d be there for you no matter what.”
“Thank you so much, Y/N. For always believing in me.”
The smile that she gave you was blinding.
======
After you’ve been officially together (again). Mina invited you to Twice’s shared apartment one day, saying that you should come “meet the family.”
So here you are, standing next to her in the apartment lobby, waiting for the elevator to arrive.
You were nervous .
“So uhm. How long have the girls known about us?”
“They’ve known for a while, actually. Jihyo unnie couldn’t wait to give you the shovel talk, by the way.”
You shudder, imagine getting scolded by GodJihyo herself. Scary .
“Thanks for the heads up..”
“Don’t worry, Y/N. They’ll like you, I promise. Also Momo’s been asking when BuDobby could meet their new aunt, so I was like ‘I can invite her over to meet you guys’.”
The elevator arrived with a “ding”, you looked at the open doors with dread.
“Okay.” you wrung your hands together.
Seeing this, she took your hand and held it in hers.
“Together?”
You took a deep breath.
“Together.”
======
“One more thing.” Mina told you before entering the Twice flat. “They could be a bit much at first, but I’m pretty sure it isn’t anything you haven’t seen before. I promise.”
“Alright.” You nodded for her to open the door. “Here goes.”
Mina walked in first. “I’m back!” She yelled whilst taking off her shoes, you followed her and left your shoes in the entryway.
You two rounded the corner and into the living room, where the rest of the members were sitting huddled on and around the couch, whispering to each other.
The whispering stopped when you entered the room, then they all shouted all at once.
“What the hell, Mina? You didn’t tell us that she’s this cute!”
“Mina did say she’s pretty, though.”
“So Mina’s girlfriend is real after all.”
“How long did she say they’ve been dating?”
“I think it’s been three months.”
“Mina has a girlfriend!!”
“Come on.” Mina whined, “Be nice.”
You cleared your throat.
“Hi, my name is Y/N and I’m Mina’s girlfriend. Please be good to me.” you bowed.
“She has manners, I approve.”
“Nayeonnie!!”
“What?” Nayeon looked around, confused. “I approved though.”
Their leader, Jihyo, stood up and bowed to you. “It’s good to finally meet you, Y/N. Please have a seat.” She gestured to one of the empty cushions.
“Thank you.” you and Mina sat down side by side.
After you sat, Jihyo continued.
“Thank you for taking care of our Mina. However, there are a couple of things that I’d need to discuss with you in private when we get the chance.”
Oh boy . “Likewise, Jihyo-ssi.” you inclined your head, hoping your face didn’t give your nervousness away “I look forward to our talk.”
“Good.” Jihyo clapped her hands.
“Then let the interrogation commence!”
======
It wasn’t so bad, answering the girls’ questions. Although, sometimes it was difficult to keep up with the energy of their bombardments.
You appreciated it, nonetheless, and you answered everything truthfully.
“So” Nayeon asked, narrowing her eyes “You sure you aren’t here for Mina’s status as an idol?”
You shook your head.
“No, I’m not after her fame. We’ve known each other before I learned who she is, and I started falling for her long before that, I swear. I like, no, I love her very much.”
Nayeon sat back, satisfied with your answer.
Sana leaned forward, chin resting on her palms.
“What do you like about our Minari?”
“Everything.” you answered immediately while Mina hid her face in her hands.
“Whipped.” Chaeyoung stated.
“So whipped.” Dahyun agreed.
“Guys.” Mina groaned. “Stop teasing her.”
Jeongyoung whistled.
“Minari is also whipped.”
“Look at our Minari, all grown up.”
Mina hid her face in your shoulder, you chuckled and patted her back.
“Alright alright, I think we teased them enough.” Jihyo paused, “Enough for now anyway.”
She then clapped her hands together again.
“Dismissed!”
=====
You stayed over for dinner, which consisted of different food deliveries that the nine girls ordered. After that, Nayeon suggested a game of truth or dare. In which you were pretty sure it was a ploy to tease you and Mina more.
Fortunately, everything was pretty tame at first… until it was Mina’s turn.
“Mina.” Nayeon said “Truth or dare?”
“Truth.” Mina chose.
“Have you and Y/N kissed?”
Jihyo choked on her iced tea, and Sana thumped her back to help her.
The room was silent save for Jihyo’s drowning gurgle.
Mina spared a glance at you before she cleared her throat.
“No. No we haven’t.”
“Interesting .” Nayeon had an evil glint in her eyes.
“Since Mina chose truth, then it means that Y/N automatically chooses dare!”
“What?!” you exclaimed.
“My game, my rules.” Nayeon cackled, “And it can’t be helped, since Mina and you are a package deal. Must get the best of both worlds.”
You sighed.
“Fine. Dare it is then.”
Nayeon looked like she couldn’t contain her laughter.
“I dare you to kiss Mina.”
This time, more than one girl choked on their drinks.
“Nayeon..” “What? You’re scared to kiss your girlfriend?”
Defeated by the eldest maknae, the both of you turned to face each other.
“You don’t have to if you don’t want to.” you mumbled low enough for Mina to hear.
“I’m okay with it, you?”
“Yep.” you scooted closer to her. “Let’s give them a show to remember.”
“Okay, let’s do this.”
You then pressed your lips against hers.
======
Neither of you moved after your lips touched, it was like what a first kiss would be.
Mina was trembling, so you cupped her face with one of your hands, the other one rubbing circles along her arm.
As if some sort of courage came over her, Mina surged forward and sat in your lap.
Someone whooped in the background, probably Jeong.
“My poor heart.” Chaeyoung whined.
“Jealous, Chae?” you heard Dahyun tease her.
“These two should get a room.”
The kiss forgotten, everyone’s heads whipped towards the youngest girl in the room.
“Tzuyu!” Jihyo cried “What happened to our innocent maknae!”
“Who said I was innocent?” The Taiwanese girl deadpanned. “And it’s not like you’ve been quiet whenever Sana unnie went to your room.”
Jihyo sputtered, face beet red.
Jeongyeong added to the fire “Yeah. Imagine being louder than Nayeon when she– Mmph!”
“Anyways.” Nayeon says with her hands plastered over Jeongyoung’s mouth, faint blush powdering her cheeks. “Good god, Y/N. You two are so hot together.”
“Agreed.” Momo said, covering both her puppies’ eyes.
“They can set the room on fire if they wanted to.” Sana giggled.
Chaeyoung butted in, wagging her eyebrows. “Do you mean the bedroom , Sana unnie?”
“Not you, too!” Jihyo wailed. “Who tainted our maknaes? This is unacceptable!”
“You did.”
“You.”
“Yep. Twas Jihyo.”
“Why are y’all ganging up on me? What of my dignity?”
“You mean you had dignity in the first place?”
“Y’all are meanies!” Jihyo whined.
 And chaos ensued.
With everyone’s focus now on Jihyo, Mina leaned over and whispered in your ear “Wanna get out of here?”
“Y-yeah, sure.” you were still trying to process everything that had happened.
The two of you escaped the living room unnoticed and went down the hallway, Mina leading you to stop in front of one of the doors.
“So.” Mina stole a glance at you while opening the door. “This is my room, please don’t mind the mess.”
======
The two of you ended up on Mina’s bed, laying side-by-side and staring at the ceiling.
“They seem to like you.” Mina mused.
“Yeah?”
“I mean, neither Jihyo, Jeong nor Nayeon unnie have kicked you out yet.”
You shake away the unpleasant image. “.. Guess I should feel relieved.”
She nodded. “It can be considered a win.”
“I guess you’re right.” You hummed, then rolled onto your side to stare at Mina.
“But you know what the biggest win is?”
Mina propped her head up to look at you. “Yeah?”
“I get to date the best girl in the world.”
“Stop it. “ Mina hid her face in her hands, “You’re going to make me cry.”
You reached over to pat her hair.
“I mean it though. You are the best thing that ever happened to me.”
Mina fell silent, then groaned.
“I’m so sorry about Nayeon unnie, she’s insufferable sometimes..”
“Hey, it’s alright. I actually enjoyed the kiss.”
She huffed.
“It doesn’t count as a first kiss, though.”
“Aw, is the penguin angry?”
“A little. I couldn’t believe we had our first kiss in front of the whole group.”
“I guess we can’t have that, can we?”
You sat up, pulling Mina with you.
“What do you mean?” she asked.
You turned to face her.
“Let’s have our first real kiss. Right here, right now.”
Mina scooted closer.
“Okay..” Her voice was thick.
This kiss was unlike the other one.
Without the curious eyes of her other members, Mina poured all her emotions into the kiss, and you did the same.
You thought about the journey you’ve gone through that led to this point, and you didn’t regret any second of it.
It seemed that Mina was thinking the same thing.
After breaking apart, you pressed your forehead against hers. Looking into her eyes with all the love and adoration in the world, you saw them being reflected back at you as well.
“I love you, Myoui Mina.”
“Love you more, Y/L/N Y/N.”
Suddenly, you remembered something.
“So. Kpop aficionado huh?”
Mina whined then smacked your arm.
“Oh my. Shut up !”
“Hehe. Make me then.”
You didn’t expect her to lean over and give you a brief kiss.
Mina laid back down, giggling at your dumbstruck expression.
“What?” She stuck her tongue at you. “You did tell me to make you.”
“You’re lucky that I like you, Mina.”
“Nope, you love me.”
 “I do. Suki-dayo , Mina-san.”
“Joahaeyo , Y/N-ssi. ”
You both laid down, hugging each other close.
And all was well.

Perspective From Another Timeline
Thanks to my betas @steelblaidd and Izzybusy!
I ADORE @buggachat new Bakery Enemies AU. This idea just kept on swirling through my head, I had to write it! This is set between parts 13 and 14, so after Adrien meets Alya and Nino but before Marinette starts sympathizing with him. AO3
---------
“You okay?”
Alya shook her head, trying to clear it. “I’ll be fine. I’ve weathered worse than that - we both have.”
Nino grinned at her. “True that.”
Alya smiled at him fondly, remembering Heroes Day. It was a bittersweet memory, with her having been turned against Nino and them both being akumatized.
But they had fought to protect each other as best they could. She’d seen Prime Queen’s footage, how Carapace had struggled to get her to fight against Dark Cupid’s magic, how he’d only given into despair after she’d given into akumatization.
“What did that blast do to us?” Nino wondered. “Everyone else the akuma blasted just disappeared. Why’re we still here?”
Alya’s brow furrowed. “I dunno… hold on, let me check to see whether any new info on the akuma’s been uploaded.”
Pulling out her phone, she tapped on the Akuma News Alert app.
An error message popped up, telling her that she had no internet connection.
Puzzled, Alya checked her phone’s other settings.
No wifi - no wifi even recognized, much less connectable - no cell service, no connection to the outside world at all.
She glanced over at Nino. “Hey, you got any signal?”
Taking out his own phone, he quickly checked his connection. He shook his head. “Not a single bar.”
Frowning, Alya looked around. “Maybe all the cell towers were taken out?”
Everything looked intact though, no sign of any destruction at all.
Something else caught Alya’s eye. “Hey Nino, what time should it be?”
Nino blinked. “Well I mean lunch just started so it should be a little past noon-”
He glanced around, noticing the long shadows and the pinkish-orange of the evening sky.
“-which it clearly is not anymore,” he concluded.
Great. “Guess Ladybug and Chat Noir must’ve taken a while to defeat the akuma,” she said, putting her phone away. “Hopefully my parents aren’t too worried. They like me to text them just after an akuma attack, but right now…?” she gestured to her pocket.
“My folks aren’t as worried,” Nino said. “But they still expect me back home before the sun goes down. They’ll be getting nervous soon.”
Alya let out a small sigh. “So much for playing Super Penguino together.”
“Hmmm…” Nino’s eyes gleamed. “You know… it’s not night just yet. And I’m sure my parents would understand if I was a few minutes late because I grabbed a bite to eat.”
Grabbed a bite to eat? What was Nino hinting at…?
Alya looked around at their location more closely.
Wait… that blast seemed to have carried them to that one park, the one near-
Alya grinned. “I think my parents will forgive me for not calling in if I bring them fresh-baked treats from the best bakery in Paris.”
---
*ring ring*
The scent of freshly baked bread wafted through the store.
Instantly Alya felt her shoulders loosen up, releasing tension she didn’t even know she’d had. There was just something so warm and comforting about the bakery.
Of course, a lot of that was due to the people running it. Good luck finding more friendly, caring people than Marinette’s parents. Sabine often checked up on anyone who seemed to be struggling or upset (and ready to protect them if they were - Alya had seen the video of the time a TV crew decided to invade Marinette’s privacy), and Tom was basically a giant teddy bear in human form.
But neither of them were manning the counter today.
Instead a young woman stared back at them.
A very familiar-looking young woman.
“Marinette?” Alya asked cautiously.
The woman stared at her for a minute. “Alya?” she finally asked. “What happened to you?” She paled. “Did a new supervillain attack? Is that why you and Nino are younger?”
Huh. Weirdly scared reaction from Marinette. They’d all gotten used to supervillains by now. She’d expect an older Marinette to take them in stride even more than the current Marinette.
Hm… an older Marinette, a different time of day, and Marinette not seeming to know about the latest akuma attack?
“Marinette… what year is it?”
Marinette blinked for a moment. Her eyes widened.
Seemed Marinette understood what she was getting at.
She told Alya the date.
Her hunch was right. “We’re in the future,” Alya breathed.
A wicked grin slowly spread over her face.
Five years was a long time. A lot of things could have happened. A lot of information could’ve come to light.
Like Hawkmoth’s identity.
Or more information on the Miraculous.
But most importantly right now-
She leaned in close to Marinette, making sure to keep her voice down, just in case someone else was around in the back. “So did you ever get together with a certain blond-haired, green-eyed model?”
“Uh… what?” Marinette asked, looking puzzled.
Alya snapped her fingers. “Adrien. Did you and Adrien finally get together? Ooooh, if you did you’ve GOTTA tell me how the confession went! Or, no, wait, don’t tell me, I want to get the deets at the time. Just let me know how long I’ve got to wait, girl!”
Marinette just stared at her, slack-jawed. “Adrien… like ADRIEN AGRESTE?!” she said, her volume rising with every word.
Alya’s eyebrows flew up. “Um… yes…?”
She’d thought that Marinette would be glowing about finally getting together with her crush, or dejected about still not being able to spit out what she wanted to say to him, downcast over him rejecting her, or maybe even infuriated because he mistreated her and they subsequently broke up.
(The last one was VERY unlikely though. After the Felix debacle, she’d learned to have a bit more faith in Adrien’s good nature.)
Shock at the concept of dating him? Not something she’d anticipated.
Footsteps echoed from behind Marinette.
So one of Marinette’s parents must’ve been in the back-
Adrien popped his head around the corner.
Seemed both he AND Marinette had aged well.
Not that Adrien looked all that different. Taller, definitely, maybe with slightly messier hair and… were those earrings? They looked good on him.
“Hey dude!” Nino waved at his best friend. “What’s up?”
“Uh…” Adrien said, scratching the back of his neck.
“WOW those outfits really take the years off, huh?” Marinette said loudly, shoving them out the door. “Make you look smaller than usual. Well we better go talk about plans later okaybye-”
She promptly slammed the door behind them, physically pushing them away from the bakery.
After Marinette had dragged them a good distance away, Alya finally got over her shock, turning around and glaring at her. “What was that about?!” she asked Marinette indignantly, hands on her hips. “You know me, I wasn’t going to spill anything to him. That’s why I was talking so quietly! Why’d you have to do that?!”
Nino frowned, seeming more concerned than annoyed. “Adrien looked really hurt by that. Not cool.”
“There’s nothing to spill!” Marinette protested, gesticulating wildly. “I only met him for the first time two days ago!”
*record scratch*
Two-
Two DAYS ago?!
Ok, hold up.
“Adrien joined our collège class the day after I did! He sits in front of you in class! What’re you TALKING about?!”
“Uh… no…?” Marinette tilted her head to the side, befuddled. “I think I would remember that, even if it was a few years back.”
Alya let out a bark of laughter. “Yeah, no kidding. He would be uh, difficult for you to forget. Heck, even if your memory was erased, you’ve got so much stuff revolving around him, I couldn’t see that lasting long.”
Marinette blushed. “Why do you think I have a crush on him?! He’s HAWKMOTH’S SON!”
“WHAT?!” Alya and Nino yelled in unison.
“Ladybug and Chat Noir defeated Hawkmoth a couple years ago,” Marinette explained, pulling out her phone.
A moment later she held it up, showing a blog post from the Ladyblog.
Oooh, that’s a nice graphical design. I’ll have to look into updating my site, Alya thought.
Turning her attention to the picture, she squinted. “Hey, can you enlarge the photo?” She asked.
Marinette complied, enlarging it and turning her phone sideways, letting it fill the entire screen.
Gabriel Agreste being led away in handcuffs by the police, with Ladybug and Chat Noir in the background. Ladybug looked satisfied, with maybe a twinge of melancholy, but Chat Noir…
He stared vacantly ahead, seemingly not focused on anyone or anything, a smile on his face - but the most forced one she’d ever seen.
“What’s wrong with Chat Noir?”
Marinette frowned, looking troubled. “I don’t know. He seemed really, really upset when Hawkmoth was defeated. It was a tough battle, bad enough that neither of them have returned since, but that doesn’t explain why-”
She trailed off, lost in thought.
A moment later she looked up, meeting Alya’s eyes.
Immediately she waved her hands around, trying to ward off… something. “I- I mean, that’s what I read on the Ladyblog and what I could piece together from video footage, it’s not like I was there, NOPE. I was huddled in my room the entire time. Not like I have any insight into what Chat Noir was acting like during the battle, not beyond what any other civilian would know! That would be ridiculous, utterly ridiculous!” she let out a few forced guffaws.
Alya’s eyebrows flew up.
O...Kay…?
Maybe Marinette had been following Ladybug and Chat Noir during the final battle and hadn’t wanted anyone to know? She’d wondered whether Marinette might have a thing for Chat Noir, but her crush on Adrien dwarfed any feelings she might have had for him. Plus it’s not like Marinette would actually know Chat Noir, unlike Adrien.
Thinking about Adrien…
“He must’ve been devastated,” she murmured. Marinette looked at her questioningly. “Adrien, I mean,” Alya clarified. “Having your father turn out to be a terrorist? I can’t even imagine.”
Marinette buried her face in her hands. “Not you TOO,” she said, her voice muffled.
Nino slowly started edging his way behind Marinette.
“What’s your problem with Adrien?” Alya asked. “Did he do something?”
Marinette glanced away. “Not… exactly… I just… I’m afraid that it might all be an act. That he might’ve been helping Hawkmoth secretly, and… and even if he wasn’t before, that he might just be biding his time, waiting until he figures out who Ladybug and Chat Noir and then BAM!” she slammed her fist down on her other hand. “He takes them out, steals all the Miraculous, frees his father and rules Paris FOREVER!”
Alya reached out towards Marinette tentatively. She collapsed into Alya’s arms.
Hugging her tightly, she sang a soft nonsense song, rubbing small circles in Marinette’s back.
She’d done this a few other times since she’d met Marinette, though she’d never thought she’d do it underneath these circumstances.
Whatever these circumstances actually were.
Did everyone have amnesia or…?
“Do you have any big memory gaps?” Alya asked once Marinette’s breathing had calmed down. “Especially from five years ago?”
Marinette shook her head.
She’d shelve that theory for now then. More likely it was…
“An alternate timeline, huh?” Alya said.
Marinette looked up at her questioningly.
“That’s what I think this is,” Alya explained. “I WAS thinking that maybe there’d been some sort of mass amnesia, but if you don’t have any memory gaps - and trust me girl, with how involved you were with Adrien, there WOULD be memory gaps - that seems unlikely. I’m betting this is some sort of alternate universe, one where Adrien never got to go to school.”
“I still don’t get why you think there’s something between me and Adrien!” Marinette said. “I mean sure, he’s pretty, but did I really fall for him just for that?”
Alya shook her head. “Actually, you hated him at first. Chloe’d been bragging about how he was her friend, and with that on top of you catching him trying to remove the gum Chloe’d planted on your seat and mistaking it for him PLANTING the gum… well… both of us just assumed he was a spoiled rich bully, just like Chloe. Luckily that turned out not to be the case.”
“How’d that misunderstanding get cleared up?” Marinette asked. “And how did your Marinette jump from that to crushing on him?”
Alya grinned. Marinette had ranted about this moment to her SO. MANY. TIMES.
“School let out later that day. It was raining and Marinette had forgotten her umbrella, so she hung back a moment, long enough for Adrien to approach her. At first she looked away from him, not wanting to acknowledge his greeting. But then he told you - told her I mean - that he hadn’t done it, promised that he’d just been trying to take it off with such sincerity that she had no choice but to believe it. He opened up to her, even though she’d been shunning him just moments ago. And finally he gave her his umbrella, just because he could. Because it was the kind thing to do. She’s been a goner ever since.”
The Marinette in her arms looked away. “I can see why she might have developed a crush on him. But I still dunno whether I trust him.”
“I don’t know whether I have anything that could convince you on that,” Alya admitted, “especially since this is probably a different timeline, and for all I know he could be evil here. Just make sure that you’re judging him on his own merits, okay? Not who he’s associated with. Not his fault he has so many crappy people in his life.”
“I’ll… take it under consideration,” Marinette said reluctantly.
Marinette looked from side to side. “Where’d Nino go?”
“Oh, he snuck back into the bakery several minutes ago.”
“WHAT?!”
---
Nino opened the door to the bakery, letting out a small sigh of relief. He really wanted to check in on his best friend, and judging by Marinette’s behavior, she wasn’t exactly keen on him or Alya chatting with Adrien.
Thinking back on what he’d just heard, he frowned.
He wished he could say that he’d never have suspected that Gabriel was Hawkmoth.
That he didn’t think Adrien’s old man could ever be capable of such evil.
But he knew better.
The guy threatened to withdraw Adrien from school and isolate him from everyone else at the drop of a hat, paid little attention to his son when he was at home, and was a very negative influence on his life in general. He might have been grieving, but… so was Adrien. He needed the only parent he had left.
And instead Gabriel had chosen to respond by becoming a supervillain and terrorizing Paris, endangering his own son in the process.
He really wished he’d gotten to hit Hawkmoth with his turtle shield more. At least he got to relish the smack he got in.
“You’re back!”
Nino looked towards the voice.
Adrien walked closer to him, a tentative grin on his face. “I didn’t think you’d return so soon!”
“I had to come back to talk to my best friend,” Nino said.
“Best friend?” Adrien asked, blank-faced.
Oh, right. According to Marinette, Adrien hadn’t joined their class. She hadn’t even met Adrien until recently.
Had some sort of memory-wiping akuma attacked? Wouldn’t have been the first time.
“Do you know who I am?” Nino asked, pointing at himself.
Adrien rubbed the back of his neck. “Uh… well I know you’re friends with the Ladyblogger and Marinette, and… sorry, that’s it.”
He looked really apologetic, like a dog who’d ripped up a bunch of toilet paper and acted guilty about it once caught.
Hm. If it had been a memory-erasing akuma, maybe he could jog Adrien’s memory…?
And even if it wasn’t, he wanted to let Adrien know that someplace, somewhere, people cared about him. If Marinette’s reaction to him was any indication, he’d need that reassurance. Being looked at with suspicion, having people run from you just because of who your dad was, thinking that you might’ve been involved in his crimes… he couldn’t imagine.
“You joined our class the day after Hawkmoth first attacked,” Nino told him, pulling out his phone.
Adrien shook his head, looking confused. “Uh… no? I wanted to, I REALLY wanted to go to school, but Father-”
He cut himself off, looking away.
“Marinette said the same thing,” Nino told him. “That you hadn’t enrolled in our class, that she’d only met you recently. I don't know what that’s about, whether everyone’s memories were wiped, or an akuma messed with the past, or what.”
Come on, come on, where was it- ah!
He clicked on a photo, one taken a few months ago, holding his phone up so his friend could get a better look.
Adrien squinted for a moment. His eyes widened. “That’s-!”
Nino nodded. “Our class photo. The official one, anyway.” He chuckled. “I liked our unofficial ones better.” Swiping to the side, he showed the new ones the class had taken at the park.
Adrien’s jaw dropped more with every new photo. He let out an involuntary bark of laughter at the one of himself, Nino, Kim, and Juleka posing. “I- I always wanted to mess around like that at photoshoots,” Adrien said. His voice trembled slightly. “But I wouldn’t be able to get away with it. And that’s mostly fun when you can share it with friends, at least share the picture, and I- I couldn’t. Chloe wouldn’t have appreciated it, and L-”
He cut himself off, shaking his head.
“Luka?” Nino asked.
He didn’t know why Adrien would know Luka and not anybody else, but he seemed the most likely option.
“Uh…” Adrien scratched the back of his neck, looking away.
Hm, he’d have to see if he had- ah!
“You played in Kitty Section too, with Luka, Rose, Ivan, and Juleka.” Nino explained, clicking on the video.
Adrien’s hands shook as Nino handed him the phone, watching the mini-concert.
“I- I was allowed to- I got to-” Adrien’s voice quavered.
“Not at first.” Nino grimaced, remembering how bummed Adrien had sounded when he called him. “Your old man said that Agrestes were soloists, and that we were all bad influences.”
“HE was the bad influence,” Adrien said. A current of anger, of venom ran through his voice that Nino had never heard before.
“Well I already knew that, even before finding out he was Hawkmoth,” Nino said, making a face. “Dude needed to chill out.”
Adrien snorted. “If he had any ‘chill’ he wouldn’t have decided that becoming a supervillain was the best way to heal my mother.”
Oh.
So THAT was why Gabriel had done it.
He’d just thought it was standard ‘I’m an asshole and want to rule the world while being a jackass to everyone in my life’ behavior.
(He still wasn’t going to rule out that being a factor.)
Nino put a hand on Adrien’s shoulder sympathetically. “At least he’s gone now and you’re free, right?”
“Right,” Adrien said. He didn’t meet Nino’s eyes.
“Not you TOO,” Marinette had said, burying her face in her hands.
As if she found it exasperating that Alya sympathized with Adrien. As if she had expected differently.
Those worries she’d voiced as Nino had been tiptoeing away, about Adrien helping Hawkmoth, about him lying in wait, biding his time… Marinette probably wasn’t the only one to have that concern. And with Adrien’s face being as well-known as it was...
“You AREN’T free, are you?” Nino asked, eyes wide.
Adrien sighed. “I was as surprised as everyone else when I found out who Hawkmoth was. That someone who’s caused that much harm, that much trauma to this city, lived in my own house.” He clenched his fists, digging into his jean’s fabric. “I could barely believe it… no… I didn’t WANT to believe it.”
He took a deep breath, steadying himself. “I- I only remember snippets from right after his arrest. The police chief talking to me. Riding back to the station. It’s all a blur. Everything felt like I was processing it underwater. It was all so blurry and muffled. Even- even then, though, I could feel everyone’s accusing stares.” “I understand why, don’t get me wrong,” he cut in hurriedly. “Who wouldn’t be suspicious of the son of the terrorist who’s been making everyone’s life miserable for the past four years?” Adrien almost panted with exertion, his eyes wild. “And- and it was happening in my own house! Underneath my nose! I should have KNOWN! I could’ve stopped this!”
Reaching out, Nino pulled his friend into a hug.
Adrien stiffened for a moment, before melting into his embrace.
“It’s his fault, not yours,” Nino murmured. “Remember that, dude. He was the adult. He was your parent. Your ONLY remaining parent. I’ve met the guy. And I’ve heard you talk about what he’s like. If you had investigated more?” Nino shuddered, thinking about the disproportionate punishments the bastard had enacted. “And knowing he was HAWKMOTH on top of that? I’m kinda glad you didn’t. Yeah, maybe you could’ve ended things sooner. Or maybe he would’ve hurt you more before you had the chance. I’m just glad you survived.”
“I-” Adrien’s throat sounded tight. “I’m- I’m glad I survived too.”
They stood there for a moment, Nino feeling Adrien’s breath go in-and-out, his heartbeat racing, until it gradually started to slow.
*ring ring*
Adrien and Nino broke up their hug just as Marinette burst through the door, Alya on her heels. She skidded to a halt in front of Adrien - but not quite in time, sending her careening towards the floor.
She never made contact.
“Woah!” Adrien shouted, catching her in his arms.
Nino detected a hint of pink to Marinette’s cheeks before she abruptly sprang to her feet.
“So, uh,” Marinette said awkwardly. “I’m guessing Nino talked to you about some stuff. I mean, of course he talked to you about stuff, because that’s what talking is about. What- what I mean is, what were you two talking about?”
“I wanted to show him how much we care about him,” Nino told her. “Especially since with this… amnesia?”
“I think it’s an alternate timeline,” Alya said.
“Especially since in this timeline,” Nino continued, “it really doesn’t seem like he had anyone.”
“I had a couple other friends,” Adrien told him quietly, giving a melancholic smile. “But I lost contact with them right after Hawkmoth’s defeat.”
Noticing Nino’s frown, he hastily added, “they didn’t abandon me or anything! They were online friends. One moved somewhere without internet reception, and the other... we never knew each other’s names. But we talked all the time. We chatted, laughed, defeated villains together…”
“In the video games we played, of course!” he added after a moment. He chuckled fondly. “We played as a team. Together, we were unstoppable, no matter what our opponent threw at us.”
Adrien swallowed. “But in the aftermath of Hawkmoth’s defeat, with all the turmoil, with everything that happened… I lost my means of contacting her. I- I don’t know whether I’ll ever get to see her again.”
“We’d promised to meet up after Hawkmoth’s defeat,” Adrien said. His voice cracked. “That- that once it was safer in Paris, we’d finally tell our names.”
His eyes dropped to the ground. “Instead, we lost each other. Maybe for good.”
“I know what that’s like,” Marinette said. She sounded strangely distant. “I had a friend like that too. I cared about him. A lot. Maybe… maybe even as more than a friend.” She said the last part haltingly, as if she’d only just admitted it to herself. “He- he wanted to know who I was. For me to know who he was. But- but I couldn’t do that. Not in Hawkmoth’s Paris. I already cared for him so much it ached. If I was closer to him than that- if I’d accepted his rose- I’m- I’m afraid Hawkmoth might’ve used the strength of those feelings against me. That I could’ve gotten akumatized, or he might’ve, and if we knew who each other was, knew WHERE the other one was… I just… I couldn’t accept that we might be sent to hurt each other.”
“We talked while the final battle was raging,” she continued. “He seemed really upset, more angry than I’ve ever seen him before, but… also kind of sad. I wanted to know what was wrong, but there wasn’t really time to press him. And after that battle he just… disappeared. I knew there was going to be some sort of disruption, but- but I’d thought we’d have more time to talk beforehand, that we’d be able to exchange new contact information. We were cut off before we had the chance.”
“I- I think of him every day,” she said quietly. “Wondering how he’s doing. He was always so positive, no matter what life threw at us. I hope that wherever he is, whatever he’s doing, he hasn’t lost that positivity, that optimism, the ability to see the best in the world and in others.”
“I’m sure he’d be happy to know you cared for him so much,” Adrien said, giving her a warm smile.
Marinette blinked, giving herself a small shake. She turned to Alya. “I dunno whether you’ll remember any of this after the Ladybug in your time restores anything, but on the off-chance you do, is there anything you need to know?”
“Oh!” Alya pulled up some footage. “You told me who Hawkmoth was, but what about Mayura?”
“Mayura?”
“Who?”
Alya snapped her fingers. “You know, the Peacock Miraculous wielder, the one summoning the sentimonsters! Did she not exist in this universe?”
She pulled up part of the fight against Mayura, the sentimonster Ladybug, and Hawkmoth.
The video ended, she took another glance at Marinette and Adrien.
Marinette seemed to be in shock, staring straight ahead.
Adrien frowned, thinking. “I’d wondered for a long time how Father managed to hide his supervillain activities from Nathalie, considering she was around him most of the time. I thought maybe she was just really good at never asking questions.”
He grimaced. “Looking at that? I’m betting she didn’t ask questions because she already knew the answers.”
“You think Mayura’s Nathalie?” Alya questioned.
He nodded. “Unless something’s different in your universe. My father doesn’t have a lot of associates, and the way he acted around Mayura there, how he was willing to pass up a chance to fight Ladybug for her Miraculous in exchange for catching her… the only people I can think of who he’d do that for are my mother and Nathalie, and mom…” he trailed off.
“I- I didn’t even think about that,” Marinette said guiltily. “I remember reading something about Gabriel having a secretary, but I didn’t think about her much beyond that.”
“Maybe you could ask this universe’s Alya to post something on the Ladyblog, telling Ladybug and Chat Noir she has a lead on who Mayura is?” Alya said. “I mean, I know they haven’t shown up in ages, but maybe that’s just because they haven’t had reason to.”
Marinette winced. “I… really don’t think that’s it… plus Ladybug and Chat Noir never said that someone was helping Hawkmoth. Mayura never appeared, at least in public. I don’t know what we can do about this right now, especially without proof. Maybe if Ladybug and Chat Noir appeared, but…”
She sounded doubtful. Alya was beginning to think that the final battle was even worse than Marinette had alluded to.
She hesitated a moment, before turning to Adrien. “I- I think I owe you an apology. I thought you might’ve been helping Hawkmoth, but… well… I was just judging you by who your dad was. You’ve been nothing but sweet and kind.”
Adrien smiled at her, though it was slightly strained. “It’s fine. I’m used to it. A lot of people in this city have suffered at Hawkmoth’s hands. I don’t blame them for being scared, or angry at any reminders of him.”
“That doesn’t make it RIGHT,” Marinette said heatedly.
Nino nodded. “Dude just because something’s done to you it doesn’t mean it’s justified, or that it shouldn’t be made better. Like with your old man forbidding parties. I didn’t let that stop me from bribing your bodyguard into letting me and the other guys throw a party at your place for you!”
He chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. “It kinda escalated though. I think half the guys at Paris were partying in your room by the end!”
Alya gave Nino a sideways look. “And ONLY the guys because they ditched us girls while we were planting trees with a lame excuse. Seriously if you’d said you wanted to throw a party for Adrien while his dad was away, you could’ve just told us!”
Nino winced. “Yeah, my bad. At least we got to have fun there for a while before the akuma attack.”
“Akuma attack?” Adrien asked, eyes wide. “But I thought you said Father was gone!”
“He was- OOOOOOOH.”
“Yeeaaaah I don’t think he was actually gone,” Alya said. “You threw a ‘secret’ party in Hawkmoth’s house, WHILE he was still at home.”
Adrien gaped at Nino. “How’re you not DEAD?!”
Nino chuckled. “Lucky I guess?”
*twinkle twinkle*
A familiar red mass flew towards Alya and Nino.
Adrien’s eyes widened.
“Behind the portrait!” he blurted out, just as the two of them were enveloped by the ladybugs, spiriting them off to whence they came.
It was silent for a moment.
“Do you think they heard?” Adrien asked Marinette.
“I hope so,” she said, looking off in the direction the ladybugs flew.
She turned to him. “I was planning on setting up some hang out time with Alya and Nino later this week. If you’re not busy… would you like to join?”
His smile told her everything she needed to know.

Unpopular opinion about the women of Titans :
Been sitting on this draft a while but I saw yet another post claiming Kory was sidelined in s3 so yeah. That’s simply not what I watched. There was an A and B plot. Dick had the A plot and Kory had the B plot everyone else fell on either side.
Kory:
IMO she gets more to do every season. Kory in s1 was more focused on saving Rachel than anything. We should have gotten episodes about her backstory but I did really enjoy everything we learned about her via her relationship with the team. She had a good plot in s2 that focused exclusively on her it just deserved more screen-time. There was a ton of scenes of people standing around in s2 that frankly should have been cut. Kory did way more in s3 than Donna,Hank,Dawn, and Rachel. Conner too.  I think what people actually mean is not “Kory did nothing all season” but “Kory didn’t date Dick and that’s the only thing about her I pay attention to.” Like just say that. I’m still not understanding how people are claiming she was sidelined in favor of the white Titans who were barely in the season? Anyway we deserve to see more of Tamaran and her backstory.
Babs:
Can we stop pretending Babs entire plot line didn’t revolve around Dick to the point where she barely even talked to other people? She was in many many scenes but I don’t know her. That’s not good guys. That’s terrible writing actually. There’s no way people want that writing for other women right? But maybe I’m wrong here cause people seem VERY jealous of Dawn’s writing. I liked Babs for the most part and I was really hoping we’d get scenes of her with the team but nope! That isolation was annoying as hell LOL. Why did they do that? Felt like she wasn’t on the show a lot of the time.
Rachel:
Rachel got a ton of screen-time in s1 and I think they did a good job using it to to explain who she was and what insecurities she needed to overcome. S2 her story was half baked and unfocused and then she vanished in s3 so she could bring Donna back...then they had her fail at that for some god forsaken reason. Not sure why people are still crying about the show being all about Rachel or the writing focusing on her more than Kory and Gar. That was only in s1 guys. She’s just been vibing in the background ever since. That being said Rachel does manage to grow as a person every season.
Dawn and Donna:
I’ll never understand the way people talk about these two. Dawn and Donna were barely in s1. Dawn flirted with Dick and got thrown off a building, Donna stopped Kory and did nothing else.  S2 they both got a generous amount of screentime but it didn’t really do anything for them. Dawn has never once had a plot that’s about her…she just hasn’t. Her life revolves around Hank or around why things didn’t work with Dick and that’s not good no matter how anyone spins it. Donna just was angry about Garth the whole season and then died. And do we even have to talk about s3? Blink and you miss Dawn. Donna was here for a few episodes, helped a little and then she left. I don’t get what people are ever talking about when they discuss these two getting better things than other characters. Where?
Rose:
There’s not a ton to say about Rose. She was a plot device basically and a poorly used one but I did sympathize with her seeing how her father manipulated her (and literally stabbed her eye out!?). Now should it have been that damn easy for Slade to convince her to kill people? Nope! But the writers cared more about the melodrama between the older Titans than explaining the motive of one of the main villains. We got her backstory the second to last episode of the season and it was rushed so they could spend a majority of the episode on Hank’s fight club sub plot. Made very little sense bruh. Zero bars.
Kom:
I felt bad for her the entire season. It sucked writers stripped her of her villain status but what sucked more was people refusing to accept her as anything else. The amount of people who were rooting for her to have been raping Conner all season. I just?????? And when they weren’t praying she was sexually assaulting him and stealing his powers through orgasms 🥴… they were flat out pretending Kom didn’t exist. They didn’t care about what she and Kory were learning about each other, they didn’t care about her probably falling in love for the first time in her life, they didn’t care that her parents were abusing her and gaslighting her and Kory their entire lives. They just wanted her out of here. The writers didn’t do that to her. The fans did. The writing actually set Kom up to be sympathetic but people refused. It was ugly AF. Anyway I did enjoy her alternate story despite originally wanting her to be the big bad- where she was learning compassion, forgiveness, love, and trust. I hope we’ll see her again.
Yeah that’s all I’ve got. Hoping for some good Kory and Rachel content next season. I’m assuming Donna will be guest starring and maybe we’ll get some more character growth there.

JJ’s Sister Part 1
Reposting from my deleted account.
Maybank!Reader x John B (eventually)
Warnings: Domestic violence (physical and verbal abuse), cursing
"Who used up all the fucking gas?!"
You and JJ were sitting at the kitchen table, eating dinner you made yourselves from the leftovers you could find, when you heard your father slam the car door and yell. He was mad. And probably drunk. Your and JJ's eyes widened as you looked at each other. JJ then scrunched his eyes closed.
"Fuck. I forgot to fill it up." He cursed.
"Shit JJ" You sympathized.
"Go to the chateau or go in your room." JJ whispered.
"No. I'll tell him it was me. He's not gonna hit me." You argued.
"Y/N, he's on one. Get outta here." He ordered more firmly this time, but you kept your eyes on him, "It'll be fine. I'll be fine. Go!"
You hid in the hallway, when you heard your dad barrel through the front door.
"Boy, did you drive the car, use my gas and leave it practically empty?! I ran out of gas halfway to the marina. Couldn't afford to get dinner for you two because I had to buy gas! You better believe you'll pay me back for that."
You could tell JJ was staying quiet and seated, knowing anything he said or did would just make it worse.
"Look at me, boy!" Luke said, hitting the back of JJ's head. JJ stood up and backed away.
"Yes, dad, I'll pay you back okay?" JJ raised his voice, letting his temper rise with it.
"I've heard that shit before!" Luke smacked JJ in the face, but not enough to knock him down. He was looking for a fight.
You winced hearing JJ get hit. Your dad didn't hit you ...usually. He had done it before, but only if JJ wasn't there. Because the one time your dad had hit you in front of JJ, JJ almost killed him. You were pretty sure he wouldn't hit you with JJ there now, so you walked back down the hall.
"Dad?" You said quietly.
"Y/N!" JJ interrupted as your dad let go of JJ and turned to face you.
"Dad, it wasn't JJ. It was me. I took the car and forgot to fill it up. I"m sorry. ...Look, here's $40 for the gas."
Your dad towered over you, "Don't fucking lie to me, Y/N! You're just trying to protect him." You flinched a little.
"No, JJ was covering for me. I'm sorry."
He looked down and took the money out of your hand with a deep sigh, causing you to flinch.
"Get outta here, both of ya. I can't stand to look at either one of you right now." He said, voice dripping with disdain and then turning to the kitchen.
"Come on, J." You said, grabbing his arm and tugging him behind you out the door.
-
"God! I hate when you do that!" JJ yelled, exasperated as you guys walked down the street aimlessly, knowing you would probably end up at John B's.
"JJ" you sigh, not wanting to have this argument again.
“Why can’t you just fucking listen to me?! I hate when you’re there when he’s like that. He’s gonna lose control with you one of these days and then…” He trailed off.
“Kay, how bout you don’t yell at me right now and just be grateful for the fact that we both got out of there fine …for the most part. Let me see your face.” You said, gently reaching for his chin, but he pushed your hand away and turned away from you. You rolled your eyes.
JJ just shook his head and bit his lip as his jaw clenched. His temper was still rising from what just happened with dad.
“It’s one thing that he hits me. But if I can’t fucking protect my little sister, then I don’t know why I even-
“JJ shut up! First of all, you’re older than me by what? 2 fucking minutes? So let’s get that straight. And it’s not your fault he’s like this. It’s not your fault if something happens to me. It’s not us. We got dealt a shitty hand in life. All we can do is be there for each other and always have the other’s back when we can. Right?” You said trying to and finally making eye contact with him.
He shook his head a little more. Even though you knew he didn’t fully agree with everything you were saying, he still let out a “Yeah.”
You reached your hand out to do your no-so-secret handshake. And he rolled his eyes at you, “Come on” You smiled at him.
He smiled a little and you did your secret handshake.
“I’ll pay you back for the gas money you gave him.” JJ said.
“Don’t worry about it. I took the twenties you had in the top drawer of your night stand.”
JJ nodded and then paused, “I had $80 in my night stand.”
You pulled the additional $40 out of your bra and held it in between your fingers smirking as you walked backwards away from JJ paused in the street.
JJ shook his head, “I’m gonna give you a 3 second head start.” He said menacingly. You took off running. You squealed as you reached the backyard of the Chateau.
You spotted Pope sitting in a folding chair near the fire they just started. “Pope! Save me! JJ’s trying to kill me!” You yelled, running behind him.
“And you chose to hide behind me?” He asked, barely looking up from his book.
“Right! Where’s Kie?”
“She’s getting food.”
“John B!” You yelled, as JJ caught up to you, you scurried behind John B. who had been moving logs around and you put your hands on his hips to use him as shield between you and JJ.
“Really Y/N?! Give it back!” JJ yelled, trying to reach around John B. to get to you.
“JJ back off. You guys are so immature.” John B. lazily held JJ at arms length. “Stop trying to hurt my little bug.” You melted at John B’s affectionate nickname for you as he tried to maneuver his arm around your shoulders and tuck you into his side away from JJ. You smiled evilly at JJ in only the way a sibling can smile when someone sides with them.
“I’ll give you 20 of the 40 bucks she stole from me?” JJ offered quickly.
John B. looked down at you as you quickly got ready to run again, but John B. already had you in a headlock.
“Traitor!” You yelled at John B. and he started rubbing a noogie into your head. “Ow, fine fine! You can have it!” John B stopped but kept you in a headlock.
“I’m not going in your bra!” JJ yelled.
"I will!” John B volunteered casually, but you elbowed him hard in the ribs and he immediately let go of you.
“Here. ...dicks” You grumbled holding out the money that JJ hastily snatched from you hands. You went and threw yourself into the folding chair next to Pope who was reading a book.
“You should have just offered John B. half of it to protect you from JJ.” He stated matter of factly.
You thought about it for a second. “This is why you’re the smart one.” You finally said.
“I know.” Pope agreed.

Hey! I’m a newbie here but I came from that one shot where Kaldur and bees sister are in an arranged marriage and it was really good! Not really asking for a sequel but can I request hc’s for being Y/N bee and dating kaldur while he’s undercover?
Dolly's Note: I'm glad you liked it and I will be more than happy to write these headcanons! If you're wondering about the one shot that the anon is talking about, it is right: Here!
Tumblr media
- Literally a fake dating turned to real dating story to it's core. You and Kaldur keep up appearances for his father and your sister, granted you both do sometimes try to complain here and there so they don't get too suspicious about you guys going along with this so well.
- But it's not like there's really a lot to complain about. I mean, Kaldur is basically perfection personified and you've always been the golden girl of Bialya, so it's only logical you and Kaldur got along fairly well, right?
- I mean, you guys liked to talk to each other. Not just about your secret plan or discussing various information you found out but also about what it's like with having to deal with your relatives, various interests that you two shared, and other things.
- You two can be found walking around the royal palace of Bialya, laughing and chatting side by side as you walked together. The occasional comfortable silence as you sat in the garden with each other, trying to find solace in the stressful life of being double-agents.
- Then somewhere along the line, you two develop feelings for each other. Not just the amiable relationship you two put on for show for your sister but actual genuine feelings.
- It was awkward for a while, you getting flustered around him, and he was too nervous around you to even pay it any mind. His father and your sister noticed this and would become concerned, the date of your wedding was drawing closer and they couldn't have you two backing out of it now (not like you guys had a choice, though).
- But after some prying and managing to get the truth out of both of you, they finally managed to get yourselves to admit that you two actually do have feelings for one another.
- Queen Bee and Black Manta playing matchmaker is actually kinda domestically wholesome-
- When they finally encourage you both to admit and confess your feelings to each other, it's actually really embarrassing for the both of you but you both are heavily relieved that you both feel the same way.
- Literally when you two rendezvous with Nightwing, he somehow knows about it and is all smug and teases you about it and Kaldur is smiling and rolling his eyes while you're there like: "Dick, stop being a jerk, I could literally be executed for just talking to you right now-"
- You two sympathize with each other a lot and can come to each other for comfort, not even just because you guys are the only double-agents but because you genuinely appreciate each other's company and find solace with each other.
- When Kaldur feels conflicted for having to betray his father, I can imagine that he ends up just talking to you about it and you sigh and rub his back as you explain how hard it is to have to lie to your older sister. But you guys encourage each other that it's what must be done in order to save the world and soldier on.
- Queen Bee and Black Manta are honestly delighted because now your feelings for each other are real, so they think that this marriage is not only beneficial for the Light but for you two as well.
- They buy themselves a "best sister"/'best father" mugs as a treat.
- You two dating also means that there isn't any suspicions being aroused as you two spend more and more alone time together, since you are a couple. You can plan and exchange information as much as you two would wish and no one would be none the wiser.
- However your sister does get a protective if you're alone with Kaldur for too long.
- Kaldur is usually visiting you in Bialya most of the time but there have been times when you were able to go to the underwater base with him and you just awe at the sea life underneath.
- However, as in love with each other as you two are, the marriage thing still seems a bit too fast. You both hope that Dick manages to enact his plan before your official wedding date so you don't have to deal with the awkwardness of having to, you know, getting divorced and then dating and then getting married again...if you guys are together for that long, that is.

Part 1 Here! / Part 3 Here!/ Playlist Here!
A/N: Maybe one last part after this?
Ko-Fi l Etsy l Commission Info Here
* You’re sitting on a bench outside, listening to Shoko and Nanami talk about something
* The breeze caresses your face
* It’s so quiet
* You haven’t experienced silence like this in years
* And there’s only one reason why you’re suddenly experiencing it now
* Your eyes stray from the dancing branches that hover above you to the dancing white-haired boy across the courtyard
* He’s talking to Geto about something, laughing as he does
* His sky blue eyes meet yours for a second, before abruptly looking away
* Not the usual flirtatious wink and wave he would normally give you
* You don’t know why, but it’s like Gojo’s lost every ounce of interest he had in you
* It looks like that prank you pulled on him is what did it-
* Apparently Geto had to help get the glass down
* He hasn’t tried speaking to you once since then, and every time your eyes meet he looks away just like he did a second ago
* What a baby, so he can dish it out but he can’t take it when someone uses his own tactics against him huh?
* It’s for the best really, you don’t want anything to do with him
* Besides if that moron just wanted someone who wasn’t going to react or get mad, then he should just date a sex doll
* It’s for the best, really
* So why are you so upset right now
* The prickle of irritation burns in your chest even when you turn away from the two boys, joining in on Shoko and Nanami’s conversation
* On the other side, Geto lets out a low whistle
* “Never thought I would see the day a lady killer like you would get embarrassed because you made eye contact with your crush” Geto grins when Gojo flushes a light pink.
* Geto almost wants to laugh, what happened to the womanizing-god-complex freak who was here just a second ago?
* “Don’t say lady-killer, you know I like men too, I’m an equal opportunity lover” Gojo gloats while running his fingers through his hair
* Ah, it looks like he’s on his bullshit again
* “You better watch out Geto, if you’re too much of tsundere I might fall for you next” the words are emphasized with a wink, and Geto can’t help but laugh
* “Whatever dude, don’t come crying to me when they start to hate you because you’re being flakey”
* Gojo laughs it off
* But late that night, while he’s lying in bed watching the shadows flicker on his ceiling he can’t help but wonder-
* What if you really do end up hating him?
* It’s not that he doesn’t want to be around you anymore or anything-
* He just doesn’t know how to approach you anymore now that he knows he’s in love with you
* “I’ve probably been in love for a while” he mumbles
* He’s not really sure when it started.
* At first it was just for shits and giggles
* Something to keep him entertained, and you just happened to be the most entertaining thing around
* So when did it stop being ‘anyone’s fine’ and start being ‘it’s only fine if it’s you’?
* He sighs turning to face the wall, he doesn’t understand his own feelings
* Yeah he’s got all this money and power and influence-
* But right now he’s just a boy in love for the first time
* And he doesn’t know how to handle that
* “I just don’t want them to hate me” he mumbles, feeling his eyes close shut
* He’ll try to talk to you tomorrow
* Even if it’s just a simple ‘good morning’
* At least it’ll be something
* But to his annoyance, he’s told he has to go save his classmates from a curse
* And then everything with the star vessel happens
* And he doesn’t see you for a while and he thinks-
* “Well maybe this is fine, maybe it’s better this way. They’re probably happy now that I’m not around always annoying them”
* And just as he’s thinking maybe this is for the best, that if someone leaves your life it probably means they weren’t supposed to be apart of it anyway -
* When you come barreling into his life again
* “Oi, Baka prince, where did sensei say this kid's house was again?” You ask, eyebrows threading together as you fidget with your phone
* Yaga-sensei sent you to accompany Gojo on his ‘mission’ to retrieve Megumi Fushiguro
* It looks like the only people who can reign Gojo in are you and Geto
* Not that you mind the impromptu mission, and besides- you don’t think Gojo is someone who should be alone around kids
* Gojo actually flinches when you speak to him, you’d traveled in silence so far, standing side by side without exchanging a word on the train.
* You sigh, you know he isn’t interested in you but the least he can do is be somewhat pleasant
* Even that usual annoying demeanor of his would be fine
* You’re not sure why but that prickle of irritation burns in you again, seeping through in the nickname you gave him
* Gojo doesn’t meet your eyes, those clear blue pupils are averted slightly as a pink blush singes his face
* “I’m not sure, I’ve just been following the cursed energy” he admits with an uncharacteristically shy gaze
* Okay WTF
* Gojo would never let the opportunity to tell you how weak you are for being unable to “even feel this amount of cursed energy”
* Who is this freak and what has he done to the real Gojo Satoru
* “Are you sick or something?” You ask
* Your hand’s already moving to cover his forehead, and you feel like somethings off
* Your eyebrows thread together as your peer closer, noticing a small gap where your hand and his forehead
* Ah right, the infinity he has around him
* You never realized it before but you wonder, can he ever feel anything?
* It must be lonely
* Gojo’s looking down at you, swallowing a lump in his throat.
* The expression on your face looks so tender, and you’re so close he can smell your scent
* And he feels a sudden urge to cry, to bury his face in your shoulder and weep like a child
* He’s watching you open your mouth, you’re about to say something-
* When you both feel a large burst of cursed energy
* Your heads snap to the direction you sense it from only to see a small boy
* You recognize him as Megumi Fushiguro, your target for this so-called ‘mission’
* He’s younger than you expected, he can’t be older than 10
* You turn to Gojo, you’re going to need a plan, someone that young is awfully impressionable. You have to do this with some tact
* But when you turn to look he’s gone
* “Huh?”
* You can practically see the outline of his form where he was standing just a second ago, your neck creaking as you turn to where Megumi-Kun is standing
* “Your father sold you to the Zenin Clan”
* You might appear calm and collected on the outside, but I promise you your soul has ascended to the fourth dimension where you are just screaming into the void
* “Well does it make you mad? Does it-“ Gojo’s waggling his fingers like a god damn perv when you basically apparate to his side and bring your fist down on his head
* “Oi, Baka prince what the hell do you think you’re doing?!?”
* Gojo’s stumbles back, nursing the emotional wound you just gave him and you crouch down
* “Don’t listen to anything that moronic man just told you, he’s got no tact” you tell the boy
* He’s a cutie, like the male version of Snow White.
* Though his expression tells you he’s about had it with this reality
* “Yeah I can see that”
* “Well he might act like a moron, but he’s got a pretty decent heart”
* You spell out the situation to Megumi as tactfully as you can, opting to treat him like an adult.
* “These are your options as I see them, you can go to the Zenin clan, or, that Baka prince already stopped the sale in return for you promising to join our academy”
* You and Megumi get along pretty well, you’re kindred souls
* Besides you both seem to be able to see right through Gojo’s princely appearance
* “Why did you guys leave me behind?” Gojo shrieks, Megumi’s hand is in your own, both of your free hands holding ice cream cones
* Megumi immediately makes a face, it had been so quiet while he was gone too
* You can’t help but sympathize with the kid, you used to feel that way before you got to know Gojo too
* You were just showing Megumi around the campus, helping him get familiar, and you thought you should reward him a little with a treat for being such a good kid
* Besides you like him
* Of course Gojo wanted to tag along, teasing Megumi half of the time like a damn idiot and spending the other half of the time giving flirtatious winks to women who seemed interested in him.
* Gojo’s making a scene and Megumi looks like he’s a second from throwing a tantrum too
* You sigh, you don’t get paid enough for having to deal with these two children
* “Here” when Gojo looks up, bright blue eyes peering over his black glasses he sees a scoop full of his favorite ice cream balancing on top of a chocolate-dipped waffle cone
* “But what about you?” He asks and the questions catches you off guard, since when has Gojo cared about anyone but himself?
* “I don’t want any, I just thought it would be good to get in line while we waited.”
* You didn’t think you would actually get to the front of the line before he caught up though.
* “No! You waited in line that whole time, here we can take share, take the first bite”
* You’ve kept your cool in front of Gojo for years but something about the expectant expression he’s giving you - the tops of his cheeks bright pink- and those bright blue eyes looking at you while holding out the ice cream cone that makes you flustered
* You can feel your face grow warm, geez what’s gotten into him
* To make matters worse you’re having a hard time saying no to him right now
* Something about those crystal blue eyes has you almost mesmerized
* And then Megumi stands up on the bench and takes a giant bite from the cone
* Cue Gojo screaming and crying because, goddammit he was this close to an indirect kiss with you-
* “Why did you do that?” He shrieks, he’s crouched on the ground, face bright red in anger and anguish
* “I don’t know, the green tea ice cream looked good” Megumi shrugs, only for Gojo to start shrieking again
* Gojo and Megumi are about a second from a fistfight when they hear laughter
* The gentle twinkling gets louder and they both instinctively turn towards it
* You’re laughing so hard you’re clutching your stomach, tears forming at the corners of your eyes
* “Geez you guys are like something out of a cartoon.” You manage to say in between laughs
* Megumi’s eyes widen
* He’s seen you smile before, but he’s never seen you laugh like that
* Megumi wonders what he’s thinking right bow
* His eyes trail to Gojo
* Gojo looks at you like you just hung the moon
* Like he’s a child seeing fireworks for the first time
* Megumi will never forget the look on Gojo’s face for as long as he lives
* ‘So that’s what it looks like when you love someone’ Megumi thinks
* Gojo pats Megumi on the head
* “Thanks kid, because of you I got to see something nice”
* You guys grow a lot closer because of Megumi, becoming sort of surrogate older siblings to him and Tsumiki
* “Why did you bring a Kotatsu?” You and Megumi are standing in the doorway holding takeout and oranges
* “Winter time just doesn’t feel right without a Kotatsu, isn’t that right Tsumiki-Chan?”
* The young girl grins as she nods, snuggling deeper into the blanket
* You and Megumi give each other an incredulous look
* Leave it to a little rich boy like Gojo Satoru to buy a Kotatsu for a casual hang out just because it’s winter
* Still-
* You watch as Megumi and Tsumiki cuddle under the Kotatsu, peeling oranges
* The kids seem to be enjoying it
* Gojo pats the spot next to him
* “I saved you a spot (Y/N/N), I promise I won’t bite” but Gojo’s giving you that same teasing grin he always used to give you
* Looks like things are back to normal
* You sigh taking a seat beside him, stealing your resolve as you put up with his incessant teasing
* Everything is back to the way it was...so why do you still feel that prickle in your stomach every time he looks at you?
* And the following weeks that familiar sensation makes appearances several times, leaving you more confused each time
* It’s not until you’re walking in Shibuya, one of your hands holding Megumi’s and the other one holding a Taiyaki full of ice cream that you realize
* “Gojoooooo” the woman in front of you whines “you’re so mean, I can’t believe you didn’t call me, because I know you had a good time”
* The woman’s pouty expression turns wolffish in a second
* Ah, so that’s where he learned to smile like that
* You and Megumi are mostly just enjoying the show, eating your ice cream and watching as Satoru tries to placate this woman
* “I’ve just been taking some time to better myself-“
* You snort, yeah you’re sure he’s been bettering himself with his dozen other lovers
* Honestly serves him right for fooling around with so many people. You’re surprised he’s not habitually in the infirmary for a new STD
* “You see, I’m a father now”
* You sputter choking on your ice cream. Megumi pats your back
* That idiot prince has really gone and done it now-
* Having an illegitimate child,
* Yaga-Sensei is going to kill him
* Not to mention what his clan might do
* Gojo looks back at you with warm eyes
* And you feel that pricking feeling again
* “Megumi is my pride and joy”
* Huh?
* Oh
* OHHHHH
* So that’s his game.
* What a sleaze bag using someone else’s kid as an excuse to get out of an uncomfortable romantic encounter
* Megumi squeezes your hand and you look down
* The look on his face could kill a man
* “I’d never call a pervert like you my Father”
* So Megumi woke up and chose violence today-
* You figure Gojo will laugh and cover it up with some jokes like ‘kids these days no respect for their elders’ or something
* But when you look at Gojo he looks genuinely hurt, those vibrant blue eyes look watery, and that pretty mouth that’s always curled in a grin is curved into a soft frown.
* And before you know what you’re doing you say-
* “Megumi-Chan you shouldn’t be so mean to your Father, he let you have ice cream before dinner didn’t he?”
* .
* ...
* .....
* WHY DID YOU JUST SAY THAT
* Megumi and Gojo are both looking at you with vacant stares
* Megumi is still in shock that you took Gojo’s side in this
* But Gojo’s looking right at you, cheeks holding a rosy tinge
* And then something amazing happens
* Gojo smiles at you-
* Not that wolfish smile he’s been showing you for years as he teases you, or that princely smile he uses to get something he wants
* It’s a genuine smile
* And you can’t help but think he doesn’t look at all like the most powerful sorcerer, he just looks like a boy
* Ah, there’s that painful prickle again
* “I love my family so won’t see you anymore, go ahead and delete my contact information,” Gojo says with a grin
* He walks over to you in long strides, hoisting Megumi up and carrying him all while the woman shouts obscenities
* “Come on (Y/N/N), let’s go home,” he says, his hand moving to hold your own
* And all you can do is let him tug you forward
* Your gaze lingers on your intertwined hands, the heat that radiates from his palm even though there’s an infinity between you both
* Your eyes trail up to look at his broad back, the way he holds Megumi so easily even though he’s pulling on Gojo’s hair
* The prickle intensifies as you watch them
* ‘He would make a good Dad his spouse will be lucky’ you think
* And then it hits you
* Oh
* Oh no
* Oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no
* You’re in love with Gojo Satoru
* The f*ckboy extraordinaire
* F*ck
* How did this even happen? You had been so careful, you were even apart of that down with Gojo Satoru club with Nanami and Geto
* Are they going to revoke your membership now?
* F*********ck
* “Hurry up and put me down you pervert!” Megumi shouts, a fistful of Gojo’s white hair in his hand
* “Ora Ora, you shouldn’t be mean to papa like that Megumi-Chan” Gojo teases, not even the slightest bit fazed
* Megumi’s only grabbing onto the infinity around his hair after all, so it probably doesn’t hurt
* “Here Megumi,” you abandon your ice cream without a thought, carefully lifting him out of Gojo’s hold and onto the ground
* Megumi doesn’t say anything, he only holds your hand in his
* “Hold Papa’s hand too Megumi-Chan otherwise I’ll feel lonely” Gojo teases, but you can tell he really does want Megumi to hold his hand
* “If it’ll get you to shut up” Megumi grumbles, but he reached up, taking Gojo’s hand in his
* The three of you probably look like a family, and this time the prickling feels warm, like a tickle across your stomach
* Like butterflies
* F********************ck
* “For F*cks sake, how am I going to get out of this one” you mumble to yourself

Okay, this one’s been done already by other blogs and I understand that not every writer wants to do the same prompt as another so if you’re not comfortable with this then absolutely stay in your comfy zone. I just think it’s fun to see different interpretations
But basically, Civilian is unknowingly dating Villain (as in, Civilian doesn’t know that villain is a criminal), and Villain is introduced to Civilian’s brother, Hero. Hero is terrified that Villain is going to hurt Civilian the entire time, but Villain just keeps on showing lots of sweet affection to Civilian (Hero and Villain recognize each other but Civilian is clueless of both their “jobs”). It’s up to you whether or not Villain actually loves Civilian or is just taunting/threatening Hero :)
Wow that was long my bad
Sorry this took me like twelve years to get to... @glowing-alpaca it won’t let me tag you... idk why🤷🏽‍♀️
Ok yes I’ve seen a few of these, so I took the general principle and made it Civilian’s POV eehehehe
hope you enjoy:)
*special thanks to @im-a-wonderling and @watercolorfreckles for the beta reads and all your amazing help on this one!!*
———————————————
Civilian shifted from foot to foot, rubbing her left wrist as she tried to focus on the conversation swirling around her. Her limbs felt lead-heavy and numb, deadweights that she wasn’t sure what to do with.
She clasped her hands together in front of her, then let them hang by her sides. Then clasped them in front of her again.
Her breathing felt loud in her ears, and a few of the patrons glanced in her direction. Could they hear her breathing?
Her eyes darted to the entrance for the hundredth time. Her brother was late. Hero had promised to be here early—he knew how she felt about crowds. And since he was the one who insisted her first art show be public, he’d reassured her he’d stay by her side the whole time.
The show had started over an hour ago.
“Well, Civilian?”
Her eyes snapped away from the door and back to the circle of patrons around her. Her stomach sloshed cold. They were all looking at her, their stares burning holes.
“Sorry? What was that?” Her stomach continued to twist and writhe. Now they all knew she’d been distracted.
Did they think she was ignoring them? Had she been rude?
She’d only glanced at the door for a moment…
An older man shook his head as his companion repeated her question about her choice to use different mediums to portray the same image.
She answered the best she could, gesturing to the wall beside her, which was filled with a dozen paintings and drawings of the cityscape—some created with ink, other with oil, acrylic, watercolor, or charcoal—she’d used them all.
She rubbed her wrist again as she tried to explain how she’d used the different mediums.
A few in the circle nodded their heads, but her heart was pounding and doubt nagged at her as she spoke. Was she talking too much? Not enough? Was what she was saying stupid?
She stumbled over her words, unease crawling beneath her skin.
She looked down, unable to complete her thought.
“I think it’s a marvelous technique.”
Hero looked up sharply as the deep voice continued, covering the awkward pause she’d created.
“...to get to look at a wall full of paintings, all capturing the same image but each conveying a different mood or emotion.”
Her rescuer was sharply dressed: his dark hair carefully styled, his suit perfectly tailored, and his gold watch designer. Combined with his confident posture, his appearance practically screamed “lawyer,” same as her brother. But while Hero was a public defense attorney, crusading against a flawed system, the man in front of her was probably what Hero would call a ‘leech,’ a rich defense lawyer catering to the criminal elite.
And while Civilian sympathized with Hero’s cause, she also had enough experience as a starving artist to appreciate the luxury of not having to worry about how much money she had to spend at the grocery store.
Plus, he’d been so kind to save her; how bad could he be?
Her rescuer was still speaking, his smooth words and confident tone confirming his profession.
“... the kind of art that needs to be seen and studied to be appreciated.”
At his hint, the crowd began to drift towards the gallery walls.
Her rescuer met her gaze through the crowd, and she offered him a small smile of gratitude as the people around her shifted away.
She turned towards the wall of cityscape paintings, breathing a sigh of relief before stopping to analyze one of the city in the rain. She eyed the brushstrokes, mentally smoothing a line here, adding a shadow there. She shook her head and turned away. Now was not the time.
But her rather abrupt turn sent her careening into a wall-like something that wasn’t a wall, but a certain tall lawyer in a thousand-dollar Armani suit. She jerked back, horrified at her lack of grace, but tripped on her blasted heels. Hands at her waist stopped her fall, long fingers tightening around her as she regained her balance. When she was finally steady, his hands slid away.
“Thanks.” Civilian forced herself to look up into the face of the man who had now rescued her twice, rather than looking around like she wanted to to check who else had noticed her embarrassing almost-fall.
He was smiling warmly, and for the first time all night, her heart wasn’t pounding at the thought of speaking with a stranger.
“I’m sorry for running into you.” She felt breathless, but it must have been from her almost-fall.
He waved her off. “I shouldn’t have been standing so close. I just wanted to compliment the way you’ve captured my favorite view of the city.” He gestured to the painting she’d just been critiquing.
“I painted it at the top of the—“
“Capitol building, yes I go there often.”
“Because you work there often?” Civilian flushed as she spoke across him, but her heart steadied as he didn’t seem to mind. His smile widened, and he leaned closer.
“What gave me away?” His voice was deep, and he looked at her as though they were sharing a secret.
Her cheeks grew warmer, and she looked away, heart racing for an entirely different reason.
“My brother is a lawyer, so I usually can just tell. He was supposed to be here actually…” a frown came to her face as she remembered her brother’s promise.
She shook herself out of her reverie. Her rescuer was looking at her warmly.
“I’m sorry! You rescued me back there, and I don’t even know your name…” She looked at him expectantly, and he offered a bright smile that made her stomach flutter.
“I’m Villain. Pleased to meet you.” His voice was practically a purr, sending tingles across her skin as he took her hand, gently raising it to his lips. She looked down as her cheeks heated at the old fashioned gesture.
“I’m Civilian,” she said as he released her hand, returning his bright smile with a shy one of her own. “Although you probably already knew that since my name is on the program...”
He nodded. “I have to say, I’m quite impressed by your—”
“Civilian!”
A blur in a tan suit darted around Villain and grabbed her arm, pulling her back.
“Hero, what?—” Her brother was a mess. His suit was wrinkled, tie coming undone, hair mussed.
He continued to pull her back, eyes on Villain. “Civilian I need to talk to you—it’s urgent!”
She glanced back at Villain as Hero tugged her away.
“Sorry!” She mouthed.
He just shook his head, an amused smile on his face, before mouthing something that looked suspiciously like, “I’ll see you later.”
Her heart warmed, and she was still grinning when Hero pulled her around the corner and flipped her around to face him.
“What are you—”
“Do you have any idea who that is?” Hero’s fingers gripped her shoulders. “What he is?”
“He said his name was Villain? And so what that he’s a lawyer, Hero. I don’t get why you are freaking out!”
Hero’s hands shook her shoulders. “He’s not just a lawyer, he—”
Civilian wrenched free and shoved Hero’s chest. “He what? Actually helped me? When YOU failed to show up like you promised.” Her last words slid into a growl.
Hero had the decency to look ashamed for a brief moment before his face hardened. He lifted a hand, gesturing with one arm back towards where they’d left Villain. “His people are the reason that I’m late!”
Anger sparked in her chest, and she rolled her eyes. “Sure,” she scoffed, “blame some random lawyer for your broken promise. That’s a pitiful excuse, Hero, even for you.”
She shoved past him, heading back into the gallery.
“Wait, Sis!” He grabbed her arm. She shook him off and stalked away.
But when she returned to the main room, Villain was gone.

so wonderful to see that you’re back! you’re one of my favorite writers on here :) if you’re taking requests, could you do something where reader and tom have an age gap (completely legal—like she is 19 and he is his current age) and so he’s extra protective of her? i totally understand if not ❤️
requests are open (hope this is what you wanted)
thank you // love you :) <3
You were barely nineteen when you met Tom for the first time. The two of you had hit it off during those first moments, but you had a feeling the obvious elephant in the room made him nervous. Your mother had always thought you’d marry an older man, much like she did. She explained it as levels of maturity, and you knew she was probably right.
You weren’t getting married, though. At least, not right now, because you were barely two months into the relationship. Things were fresh, which meant you were still out of the public eye.
“C’mon, Tom. We haven’t been out since that after party a few weeks ago.” “No, Y/N. I don’t want to run the risk of the paps catching us.” You rolled your eyes with a sigh, crossing your arms. All you wanted to do was go on a coffee date around the corner, but Tom’s mind never moved.
“What’s the worst that could happen?”
You could tell he was slightly annoyed, almost angry as he looked at you as if the answer was obvious. This had been an ongoing topic of discussion between the two of you, and you were afraid it would tear you apart so early on in the relationship. You couldn’t place why he was so afraid of the reactions; you knew he was a relationship person, and when the time came he didn’t shy away from sharing that with his fans. But something about this felt different, and the both of you knew it.
“The worst that could happen is we get outed.”
“Tom, you say that as if it could get us killed.”
“Because it can!” You give him a side eye and he sighs before elaborating. “I’m serious, Y/N. It can tear you apart. Pain isn’t always physical.”
“You sound like my therapist.” “I just want what’s best for us.” “And I want to be with you anywhere I choose!” You huffed, head turning the other way while you looked out the window. Tom sat next to you, a hand over yours while he tried to sympathize.
“Please, just wait a little longer.”
“Tom, I just want to know what you’re so afraid of. What could possibly happen if your fans knew about us?” You looked him straight on, eyes bleary and deep.
“Y/N….” He trailed off, not sure how to go on.
“I just want to know if you’re the type of guy who’s gonna be embarrassed to date someone like me.”
He gasped, as if you’d taken the knife and stabbed him. “Baby I could never be embarrassed of you.” He pouted, pulling you closer. “It’s just that… the worst that could happen is they ruin your mentality, and then you leave me because you can’t handle it anymore.”
“You know that’s not gonna happen.”
“I’m allowed to be protective, aren’t I?” He sighs and you want to hug him until you’ve exploded from the love. “You’re just… you’re younger and I just- I don’t want to ruin what’s so… untouched.”
“Tom, you can’t protect me from the world.” Both of your hands grip his own fiercely, lovingly. “I can handle those things. I’m a big girl.”
“No, yeah, I know,” He runs a hand through his curls. “I just… don’t want you to get hurt because of me.”
You almost melt from the tenderness of his words. You’re soft from the confession, crawling into his lap and bringing him into your embrace, head tucked into your neck as he sighs, kissing the skin. It’s an intimate position, but you feel it’s fitting for the intimate conversation.
“You could never hurt me like that.”
“I just… I’m supposed to protect you.”
“I know, baby,” You kiss his forehead. “You do. You’re my Captain America.”
He bursts out into laughter, your hands cupping his cheeks while he nods. “I am.” His nose nuzzles your own. “Your Captain America.”

Hi ! I am sorry I’m actually just writing to commiserate with you about the devil judge, I saw your post about how everyone just puts everything on Yohan and I agree sooo much, it’s infuriating to me, how Min Jung Ho just like immediately says it’s his fault he got attacked, and don’t get me started on the fucking priest, what the hell bro? He was a child, a lonely, weird, abused child, not the fucking devil. Seriously it is getting me crazy, it feels like the only person who sees him as a human being is Gaon. I know a lot of people have made a parallel between tdj and Hannibal, and like, I really disagree ? I understand where it comes from, but Hannibal and Yohan are vastly different characters, and the whole characterization of Yohan to me feels like the writers are saying that while every one thinks this guy is the devil, he is very far from it, whereas Hannibal is definitely a monster, and his relationship with will is monstrous as well (and very captivating don’t get me wrong). What do you think about that parallel ? It just rubs me the wrong way but I don’t know if I put it into words correctly. Sorry for the really long ask btw 😅
Hi! thanks for the question. I completely understand what you’re saying. I hope I can answer this well because it’s really so complex. Sorry if this turns into a whole dissertation essay, Hannibal is like my favorite show ever.
Yea I can see a lot of people draw comparisons to TDJ and Hannibal saying things like “tdj is just Hannibal in a courtroom” or “tdj is Hannibal without the cannibalism” lol. I think what people are mostly looking at is the dynamic between Yohan/GaOn and Hannibal/Will and how they’re similar to some degree.
Gahan and Hannigram have a similar type of tension with each other. The difference is Ga On already had suspicions about Yohan from the very beginning and was very antagonistic towards him. Will, on the other hand, initially thought Hannibal was just psychiatrist and sought out his help. It wasn’t until a little later that he started suspecting him and grew to understand his true dark nature.
Yohan/Hannibal— wealthy socialite, sociopathic tendencies, hiding a secret, wearing a “person suit” (more on this later) to fool those around them, misanthrope and thinks humans are beneath them, thinks no one in the world could possibly understand them until they find the one person who does and they can only show their love through violence and manipulation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ga On/Will— sensitive, empathetic, intelligent
Will is first introduced as this tortured genius who has an empathetic ability to recreate scenes. In short, he can vividly construct the mentality of criminals and psychopaths. Being able to step into a darkness like that, you have to eventually lose a part of yourself and start sympathizing with the monsters and that’s what eventually happens to him. They’re both capable of murder. Ga On was ready to kill the con artist for his parents if SH hadn’t intervened. They have a moral compass in their corner to keep them grounded (Jack Crawford for Will, Soo Hyun for Ga On—I won’t even mention Min Junho because the guy is sus). They’re both fighting against an internal darkness
Gahan/Hannigram— THE HOMOEROTIC TENSION.
“I want you to admit what you are.”
“Must I denounce myself as a monster, while you still refuse to see the one growing inside you.”
Actual lines from Hannibal. I can’t even mention all the lines that could apply to Gahan (I could hear these words being exchanged between them). Both Hannibal and Yohan bring out the best, and worst, in their partners. Hannigram is toxic as hell. Hannibal would go through all kinds of sick shenanigans to get Will on his side, Yohan has said he would do bad things to get Ga On on his side. Gahan’s relationship is one that starts out tense and mistrustful, then grew to curiousity, comaderie, now Yohan has come to rely on Ga On without him even realizing it or admitting it to himself.
“No one can be fully aware of another human being unless we love them.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is obvious. Hannibal is a cannibal, Yohan is not.
I was rooting for Will to finally succumb to his darkness and join Hannibal’s side because he found the truest version of himself in Hannibal. I have different expectations for Ga On because my sweet summer child is more different from Will, he’s not as drawn to darkness as Will is (in the recent episode, he was so horrified at the blood on his hands). Will in the end basks in it.
I agree with you about Hannibal, there’s really no denying that he is a monster. And there’s really no explanation for why he is the way he is; he wasn’t abused (as far as we know) but he was orphaned and left to raise his beloved sister (who died) and later became a serial killer. Yohan, on the other hand, was an abandoned and abused child who only had the love of his older brother. It’s no wonder that he puts up a tough exterior because all throughout his life, people have made assumptions about him without trying to get to know him. I mentioned the “person suit” earlier, this is a mask Hannibal puts on to blend into the human world. He carefully built his life and reputation as a surgeon/psychiatrist and socialite, presenting himself as the sociable doctor while living his philosophy of eating the rude on the other side on the veil.
Yohan’s person suit is a defense mechanism. Whereas Hannibal is using his suit to hide a monstrous nature, Yohan uses it to hide his vulnerabilities. He’s wearing this suit to blend in with the elite he hates, but underneath that exterior is just a lonely and misunderstood man (who’s actually a softie in reality)
Finally, I think these two shows don’t really have a whole lot in common besides the homoerotic tension. Gahan are vastly different from Hannigram. Yohan isn’t a true monster/devil while Hannibal is. Will turned his back on his moral compass and succumbed to the darkness, while Ga On can’t seem to let go of his moral compass and he doesn’t desire to become a monster.
Sooo ultimately…

Red String of Fate
Relationship(s): Gojo Satoru x F!Reader
Warnings: slight swearing, slight manga spoilers
Tags: Soulmate AU
AO3 Link: here
Words: ~2.3k
Request:  “Hello I'm actually not sure if I'm supposed to put put my request here? well, if its not supposed to be here, then please ignore it. Anyways, can I ask of you to share your thoughts on Soulmate AU w/ Gojo around 12 to 16 yrs old where he can see signs of who's soulmate is whos meeting his possible fiance who turns out to be his soulmate (I asked that age bc first meeting! he's from a noble clan and its really weird he doesn't have fiance or something) Sorry if its confusing and Thank you!”
Gojo Satoru was twelve years old when his Six Eyes began showing him the red strings of fate. Every person’s string was different. Some of them stretched on for what seemed like an eternity, almost seemingly never reaching the other end. Others were shorter, connected to the person they stood next to (whether they knew of their existence or not). And unfortunately, on some, Satoru could see the end of the string, but it dragged behind someone, unconnected to another human.
Satoru had told his mother about the strings as they appeared. Those are strings that lead one to their soulmate, she had explained to him. Everyone has a soulmate, but not everyone is in love with theirs. There are different kinds of love in this world.
Satoru’s parents were soulmates, but they did not love each other; that much was clear from how his father treated his mother. He never hit her or anything, but he didn’t treat her like an equal; more of a vessel that gave birth to an heir. He only interacted with his wife when necessary, the two not even sleeping in the same room at night.
For that reason, Satoru was scared to meet his own soulmate. He had one, that much was clear by the bright red string tied around his left pinky that stretched on for kilometers. He didn’t want to end up like his parents.
Gojo Satoru was fourteen years old when his father announced that he would be marrying you, a girl from the Kamo clan. You were the youngest daughter in the secondary branch of the family, just a year younger than him. Tomorrow, the two of you would meet for the first time.
You were nervous about tomorrow, for several reasons. Number one, you had heard the rumors about Gojo Satoru--the first member of the Gojo clan to be born with the Six Eyes and  Limitless, the two inherited techniques of his clan, in a hundred years or so. That meant, in a nutshell, he was much stronger than you could ever hope to be, as someone who hadn’t even inherited the Kamo clan technique (which is why you were being shipped off to another clan). Number two, you had heard rumors of his personality, somehow both cold and carefree at the same time, but one hundred percent a horrible personality to be combined with your timid and quiet nature. And number three, you almost resented him because now you were stuck in an arranged marriage and you saw how well that worked out for your parents.
Tomorrow arrived, and the maids dressed you up in the finest of kimonos, hair ornaments, and even makeup. You weren’t particularly into girly interests, more interested in training for when you enter Kyoto High in a few years; the feeling of foundation and lipstick felt foreign on your face.
You arrived at the main hall, escorted by your uncle (the head of the Kamo family), your parents, and a few maids. You normally didn’t wear a kimono often, except for very special occasions, and you have never been in one for this long. Graceful, you were not, and tripped a few times because of the geta chosen for you to wear with the kimono. Each time, the maids were swift to grab ahold of your arms and stabilize you. They even helped you sit down as you awaited your future fiance and his parents.
Gojo Satoru’s parents arrived before he did. They apologized on behalf of their son, citing that he was on he was back from a mission. You were jealous, he wasn’t even in high school yet and was already being assigned missions. While you weren’t powerful in comparison to Gojo Satoru himself, you could still hold your own against your older cousins and had a decent amount of cursed energy.
Gojo Satoru’s parents seemed nice enough, but the chemistry between them resembled that of your own parents; they tolerated each other, but that was it--no love, no spark, nothing. You wondered if his parents were also put into an arranged marriage. You could sympathize, but you also secretly hoped that the two of you wouldn’t end up like your parents.
You poured tea for your future in-laws, hands shaking slightly, a few drops of tea spilling. As you sat the teapot down, in came Gojo Satoru himself, dressed in a simple black kimono, but the sash was not tied tightly. His hair was touseled, and stained with either dirt or blood (you hoped it was dirt). Despite his unkempt look, he was gorgeous, with bright white hair and eyes blue like the sky matching neither of his parents. Despite the color differences, he took mostly after his mother with her soft features.
When he made eye contact with you, he froze, looking down at his left hand, and then back to you. Before you could even greet him, he immediately fled the room, both his parents calling after him, leaving after him.
That was a bit painful; your first time meeting him and he leaves immediately seeing your face. You weren’t sure how your self-esteem would recover after that blow.
About twenty minutes later, Gojo Satoru’s parents came back, empty-handed without their son. He refused to meet you, but they promised he would come around eventually. So, your family said your goodbyes and left the Gojo estate.
Once your family arrived back at the Kamo estate, your uncle slapped you across the face, blaming you for what transpired with the Gojo family. It was your looks, your lack of femininity that obviously scared your fiance away. Not even makeup or the finest materials could fix it.
So what, if you weren’t “feminine”? Being “feminine” doesn’t exorcise curses, now does it?
You grumbled an apology, leaving to your room and locking the door behind you. You started crying, ruining the makeup that took the maids hours to do, but not even bothering to care. It took a while to get out of the kimono, but you changed into sweatpants and a large T-shirt and left the offensive material on the floor. Neither of your parents bothered to check in on you, but the head maid did. She cleaned up your makeup and brought you some of your comfort foods. She was more of a mother to you than your own, and you were always grateful for her in your life.
The next time you would meet Gojo Satoru, there would be hell to pay for embarrassing you like this.
Gojo Satoru was sixteen years old when he next met his fiancee, this time on the battlefield rather than mitigated by their families. Kyoto was short by one for the Kyoto Goodwill Event, so you were allowed to join as the sole first year. You were glad for the opportunity because that meant you could finally pay back Gojo Satoru for the embarrassment you felt two years ago.
You were told you had great potential as a jujutsu sorcerer, already being promoted to Semi-Grade 2 as you entered Kyoto High. Of course, you weren’t even close to your fiance who was promoted immediately to Special Grade upon entering Tokyo High. While the power difference between a Semi-Grade 2 and a Special Grade was immense, you weren’t going to let that stop you. You held a lot of pain in your heart for how Gojo Satoru rejected you from one glance, refusing to ever see you again that day.
This was Gojo Satoru’s first Goodwill Event, as last year he was only a first-year and the spots were full from the second and third years last year. Since last year, Kyoto had won, the event was held at your school. Not a single second or third year at Kyoto believed they even had a chance to win this year, as Tokyo has not one but two Special Grade students this year participating in the event. There was only one Grade 1 sorcerer on the Kyoto side, a third-year, while the others were a Grade 2 or Semi-Grade 2. The goal was to stick together; power in numbers. While the two monsters Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru could take out the entire Kyoto team singlehanded most likely, the others on the Tokyo team were rather weak, at only Grade 3.
So, the Kyoto side would stick together, avoid conflict. The goal was to exorcise curses, not necessarily fight each other.
The six of you stuck together, exorcising curse after curse. It was strange, as several minutes passed and you hadn’t even encountered one of the Grade 3 Tokyo sorcerers. You felt the hairs on the back of your neck stick up, then a voice behind you announcing, “Hello~”
You turned around quickly, barely able to avoid an attack. There he was, Gojo Satoru in the flesh. He was much, much taller than last time you saw him, now towering over you like a tree. On his (admittedly) handsome face was a smug grin, his bright baby blues peeking out behind round black shades. He held his hands in his pockets in a carefree manner. Almost not like he just attacked you and your senpai.
You glanced back briefly. While you were somehow lucky to avoid the attack from your fiance, your senpai behind you was not. The attack left them unconscious, back against a tree and blood running down their head.
While reading headfirst toward your fiance probably was not a good idea, only rage flowed through your head. You may not have inherited your clan’s cursed technique, you inherited a similar technique but more closely to your mother’s Zenin clan’s technique. You could manipulate shadows, not to summon shikigami, but rather to form weapons.
You summoned the shadows to form a sword, raising it to strike Gojo Satoru. But it reached just centimeters away from his body before stopping, almost like an invisible forced kept it in place, unable to move it further. You stared at your hand in surprise.
“Now, now, is that any way to greet your fiance?” Gojo Satoru asked, grin widening.
“Are you really though?” You asked, jumping back cautiously before he could ready another attack. “You didn’t even want to meet me two years ago.”
He placed his hand onto his chin in thought. “Hmm, I suppose that’s true. Tell you what, land a hit on me and I’ll tell you everything.”
“Bastard,” you called to him, switching your shadow weapon to a bow and arrow, pulling back the shadow string, and releasing it toward him.
Gojo Satoru held up two fingers as the arrow stopped in mid-air, much like your sword earlier. “I don’t think that’s my name, sweetie. Bad luck for you today. Seems like we’re just a bad match.”
You were frustrated. How the hell was he doing that?
A siren sounded out through the forest. The match was over; Tokyo won, only because Gojo Satoru had distracted the Kyoto group while Geto Suguru handled the stranglers and the remaining Grade 3 sorcerers were able to exorcise more curses than your side.
Gojo Satoru disappeared before your eyes, but you heard a whisper in your ear from him, “I’m feeling generous. An hour before the individual matches tomorrow, meet me in the garden. I’ll explain everything.”
So, that’s how you found yourself out in the garden at 8 am, shivering from the morning chill. The garden was huge, but somehow you figured your fiance would be able to find you.
“Yo,” he called out, startling you from your thoughts. “I didn’t think you’d actually come.”
“I don’t think highly of you,” you admitted. “You embarrassed me two years ago and my uncle thinks I’m a disgrace to the family now.”
“Yikes, that seems a little harsh. Not like I annulled the engagement or anything. I just was going through some good ole teenage angst then, nothing more.”
“Still going through some ‘teenage angst’?” you questioned.
“Oh, you know, just the normal amount. I died a few months ago and it reset me back to typical teenage angst levels.”
“You what? ”
“But that’s a whole different story. We’re talking about why I left two years ago after seeing you.” He brought a finger up to his lips. “This is top secret. Can’t tell anyone.”
You nodded.
“So, my Six Eyes. I’m sure you’ve heard all about them, being in the Kamo clan and all. It turns out I can also see the red string of fate that brings soulmates together. My parents are soulmates, but they have a shitty relationship.”
“Okay.” You could relate, your parents also have a shitty relationship.
“And they’re the only pair of soulmates I’ve ever known. So,” he grasped his left pinky in yours, “when I saw that red string of mine connect to yours, I panicked. Didn’t want to be forced into a relationship with my own soulmate and end up like my parents. Call me a sappy romantic, but I wanted to meet you and get to know each other on our own, not because we’re in an arranged marriage.”
You couldn’t help but blush. Here was Gojo Satoru, your fiance, one of the strongest jujutsu sorcerers in the world, proclaiming that you were his soulmate. It seemed ridiculous, but you didn’t think he was lying. Suddenly, all the resentment for that time a few years ago left.
You took your pinky out of his, looking away from him in embarrassment, then stated, “There’s nothing that says we can’t do all that while still being engaged. Lets.” You took a deep breath, looking straight at those brilliant blue eyes past his sunglasses, then continued. “Let start over. Get to know each other the right way and see where this takes us.”
He grinned. It was the first time you saw him smile with pure happiness behind it. “I like that idea, soulmate.”
