feitan- just him even thinking about the words “ dad I am in love” or at parent teacher interviews “ oh my goodness dad look that’s the guy that I like isn’t. He’s so cute!” “ dad look at this boy can I date him? Come on don’t say no please!!!” He feels absolutely sick to his stomach when he hears his daughter on call with her friends talking about boys and how cute the boys at their school are and how she wants to go on dates with them and them to be her boyfriend, but only one. (I’m not into that polyamorous stuff sorry🙃) it would drive him absolutely crazy having to listen to his daughter go on full rants for hours about boys it would honestly just annoy him and confuse him in his mind. He is thinking what value does this boy have? He’s not an assassin. He isn’t into torture he’s not sadistic he’s not strong he’s not a nen user and he’s not buff! If he ever sees any of the guys that his daughter likes when he is out alone, or with the phantom troupe, he will be sure to shoot very nasty glares and mumble things under his breath, but loud enough for the boy to hear…

Phinks-this man is already short tempered as it is, so just him even imagining another man in your life or just imagining all the bad things that could possibly happen just makes him want to kill somebody (not like it’s any different from his usual lifestyle anyways💀✌️) he doesn’t understand why his daughter is so crazy over boys. There is literally no value in the guys that she likes and he prays that it is just a phase and that it will go away in a couple weeks but boy was he wrong his daughter always acts like she is in love, but then she moves on a day later to a different boy. (and no we are not about to call her a hoe or a player OK we have to have respect for phinks daughter like bffr) if his daughter is ranting about boys way too much in one day, he will eventually raise his voice at his daughter enough to make her stop, but not enough to make her cry or to make her feel sad or maybe just a little depending on how he’s feeling that day honestly he’s very short tempered and this is just not good on him

Uvogin-the moment his daughter even brings up her having a crush I swear to God, he turns his neck so fast it releases all the cracks that it was holding in throughout the years💀😭 he would stare at her for a few minutes before replying “ I’m sorry what you have a crush?!?! yeah, no not under my roof I will kill the boy. If I have to you better make sure that you stay away from him, and he stays away from you. You are not dating any boy under any circumstance, or anybody in general! Do I make myself clear” he would be very stern about it but eventually when his daughter does not get scared about his empty threats and keeps ranting about boys. He eventually just gets used to the lifestyle, but oh boy, you best believe Nobunaga is more annoyed by hearing all the shit that uvogin has to tell him about what his daughter is ranting about and not only that Nobunaga is pretty much his daughters uncle, so of course, he would be annoyed as well! It’s like a two and one combo😅

That’s it for today everyone since there wasn’t a lot of people like normal I tried my best to put in as much creativity as possible and make them as long as possible! I hope everybody enjoyed it just as much as I did writing it. This was honestly one of my favourites to write. It’s just so fun and I have to be very creative for this one too. It’s not just some thing that I can half ass or get out of very easily, especially since I haven’t seen anything like this. I’m pretty happy to be writing it!

The significance of Killua healing Gon’s arm and then leaving [puts hand over eyes] is that Gon’s journey in the Chimera Ant arc is of fully abandoning Killua without realizing that Killua is his own left hand (or right hand if we go by the loss), and failing to win without Killua to bail him out. Killua getting Nanika to heal him means that Gon’s arm healing is Killua restoring himself to Gon’s side, and then Killua’s departure is him telling Gon to start operating as a whole and complete being without him.

Hunter x Hunter is such a good rewatchable show. Like, people go on and on about the foreshadowing in Attack on Titan but Togashi doesn't fuck around either.

You think something is silly and insignificant at first but then it reappears later as an important piece to the story.

Sorry to be talking about hxh on main again after all these years but i’m going slightly insane after the last update. After years of writing about how i believed the Kurta clan has been murdered probably because of the D-Hunter book Sheila had given Kurapika (this post more or less have the outline of the theory in it), while at this point we didn’t know anything about Sheila, the last chapter just.

Showed that Sheila was a childhood friend of the Phantom Troupe???? That she was already reading the D-Hunter book then????

It’s not “theory confirmed” at all, at least not yet, but it’s at least setting pieces in a position that fits this theory again i’m going insane.

the other theory of the post i linked is also disproven this chapter re: regarding Sharlnark, but i don’t really care much about this part of the theory i linked, i’m just, only focusing on the book. I’ve been arguing for years that the Troupe must have attacked the village because of Sheila and the Book and the new chapter really just say “well, they DID know each other...? <3″ at me. Excuse me.

i know it is mostly known for its "mental illness" factor but banana fish truly is a really good story and i can't help thinking that this aura around the story undermines how solid it is

#like people mostly see it as the 'tragic gay story' when theres like. so much more to the plot than whatever you think ash and eiji have #going on #whether you think they were in love or incredibly close friends isnt what matters in the end because there is much more to the story than #that?#all of this is coming to me because im continuing the manga rn and i feel like mappa in a way tried to focus more #on the 'gayness' than the manga did #ash was a solid character already but i feel like eiji stands out a lot more by himself in the manga because he feels like he has a bigger #role than being the guy ash wants to protect you feel me?#i dont think the anime adaptation is bad in itself and there are things it improved on but also i feel like some of the supporting #characters feel more one dimensional? more importantly sing and max #considering the manga is 110 chapters/19 volumes long mappa adapted it quite well with 24 episodes but i cant help thinking that #some things that improve on the story were lost #also -- completely unrelated -- i dont think there was any reason to change the period from the 80s to the 2010s in the anime but its #frightening how the political messages are mostly kept intact like yeah the police is incompetent and corrupt and billionares are shit #what else is new #anyways im glad to be reading the manga scream same as with the chimera arc in the hxh manga i tend to appreciate things much better by #reading rather than watching which is why i prefer it more #my post

Togashi planned different endings for HxH.

The fourth one surprised people.

Recently, there have been news regarding Togashi on his health and what would become of HxH in the near future, so he wrote his answers on a talk show for an interview. From the small leaks and sneak peeks that people were able to gather and collect from the ongoing interview, we got to know a bit more about Togashi’s thought process as well as what he had planned for some scenes to go about but later changed.

These sneak peeks and leaks were later translated by these same fans and got shown on Reddit. You can find some of the translated questions and answers HERE!

But while this was going on, what really caught the fans’ attention about this interview (that we got of for now), were the possible endings Togashi had in mind. Since his health and back weren’t doing so good, Togashi figured he could at least give us some information on the possible endings of HxH he had planned. Of course, his answer was in Japanese but thankfully, some fans (like @pewpiece on Twitter) were able to take some parts and pieces of the explanation and translate it for us.

This is what Togashi said:

According to what the translation is saying, Togashi has planned THREE possible endings for HxH and has also estimated how good the ending would impact the fans.

Ending A (the first one), seems to look rather fine. This ending is deemed to be satisfactory by 50% and unsatisfactory by 20%.

Ending B (the second one), looks like it’ll have an equally mixed reaction. This ending is deemed to be satisfactory by 50% and unsatisfactory by 50%.

Ending C (the third one), looks like it’ll have the worst reactions between them all. This ending is deemed to be satisfactory by only 10% and extremely unsatisfactory by 90%. (Ending C is very likely that it’ll receive negative remarks but Togashi kept that one possible ending around because he personally liked it.)

Despite the fact that he had made three ending possibilities for HxH, he still plans on keeping them on the side to think about a bigger ending that could be better and bigger than the three he had made up: “I want to think to the utmost extent about an ending to the point where I might not choose any of these three and create what I find most enjoyable, which is my ideal and goal.” -Togashi on paragraph 2.

He also mentioned, however, that if he doesn’t find a better ending than these three before his time runs out, he’ll resort using the fourth ending as the true ending.

Yes, there’s a fourth ending that he hasn’t estimated the satisfactory and unsatisfactory rate of. Apparently, he had planned a fourth ending but scrapped it. It’s called the “Ending D” (or the fourth ending) and was the reason why people are starting to talk about this interview (at least from my end).

Curiously, Ending D was the one that had been talked about more by Togashi. Since he didn’t give any estimation on the satisfactory and unsatisfactory rate, he decided to tell us a bit on what it would be about.

To summarize it, here’s what it’s about:

Gon ends up marrying Noko, the only other kid on Whale Island, and they end up having kids. Now, Gon and Noko are grandparents and we get introduced to their granddaughter named Jin who was currently following the Freecss tradition: taking out the Lake Lord fish and share it with the other Whale Island residents. She ends up catching the fish and proudly goes up to her mother to tell her that she will not leave the island to become a hunter (insinuating that this must be a requirement once you capture the Lake Lord fish) and she’d rather stay here to inherit her parents’ place instead. Jin then goes to the shop from Mito’s days to cut up the fish all while thinking about how her mother will never understand how she’s saddened by the fact that being a hunter meant making the people that you love worry for you. Jin complains about how grandpa Gon is unaware of how his hunter stories make grandma Noko sad which is why Jin has decided that she’ll never become a hunter. Then, just as she had finished thinking about her resolve, a chubby little boy (holding a plant for some reason) enters the shop to which Jin seems to act very comfortable with. She tells him that she had caught the Lake Lord fish and they are both happy as they begin cooking it together.

This ending is odd because of three major key points.

1) This ending sounds way too much like a shonen anime ending where it’s a childhood love story like so many main pairings have gone through in the past. Plenty of people would be complaining (and even stating) that this ending is fake since Togashi would never write something this basic but you have to understand that he DID write something like this back when he was working on his old work Yu Yu Hakusho. The main character Yusuke returns after his adventures to get married to his childhood friend Keiko.

2) The way Togashi worded the ending at the end of it.

“The son of one of them, the daughter of another, and the grandchild of another live in different places, exchanging smiles. They might be the children of that character and the grandchildren of that character.” - last paragraph

This specific chunk of paragraph sounds a bit confusing at first read since Togashi doesn’t name any of these people and doesn’t address or clarify who is who. All we know, is that the “children of that character” and “the grandchildren of that character” is Gon when Togashi says “that character” since it has been established that his granddaughter Jin, the little boy with the plant, and the two kids’ parents are aware of who Gon is. However, we get confused yet again once it says “the son of one of them” and “the daughter of another” implying that “one of them” and “another” is not just Gon. This all seems a bit confusing but Togashi does have a habit of remaining ambiguous and vague when he explains in interviews.

3) The last line of the translation ends with “In the background, a figure watches the scene.” Who’s the figure you ask? No one knows.

Nonetheless, what we do know now, is that Ending D should NOT be ignored.

Many fans have already concluded that it shouldn’t be taken seriously because Togashi ‘scrapped’ it out but you have to understand that he had kept it around and WILL use it if time runs out for him and he doesn’t manage to find a better ending than the three he already has.

This is why the Ending D, also known as the fourth ending, should also be known as the default ending.

So if Togashi can’t continue anymore, this could be the true ending for HxH.

Keep in mind that this is Gon’s ending too.

We have no idea what he has in store for Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio not to mention Hisoka and the Phantom Troupe.

Yoshihiro Togashi Handwritten Letter

Togashi sent a handwritten letter to the idol Yumiko Seki, answering 11 questions. The letter was read aloud in the Iwakura and Yoshizumi's Show, on TV Asahi, on November 14th and 21st, 2023.

There's already a translation of the Q&A by the hunter fandom (please read it), but I want to share my favorite parts and maybe some interesting info that was said during the TV program. You can watch the full version on bilibili. The whole film studio was decorated with Hunter x Hunter manuscripts and figures, and BGM from both versions of the anime was played during the broadcast.

The MCs of the show are two female comedians, Yoshizumi and Iwakura. The guests were Yumiko Seki (former Sakurazaka46); singer Toshiya Miyata (Kis-My-Ft2), a huge Hunter x Hunter fan; and the comedian Shintaro Morimoto (TONTSUKATAN) who read Togashi's letter and served as moderator.

At the beginning of the show, Seki-san revealed she met Togashi in a Sakurazaka46 live concert.

Everyone was shocked to learn she met him face-to-face!

Then, Seki-san showed an autographed shikishi Togashi-sensei gave her when she graduated from Sakurazaka46. (T/N: She announced her graduation on December 13, 2022, and graduated on April 30, 2023 at the Sakurazaka46 3rd TOUR 2023).

Killua: "Graduation is the starting line!!"

It's interesting to add that Killua is Seki's favorite character and orange & white were her penlight colors, also her favorite colors. That's why Togashi drew Killua holding a bouquet of orange and white flowers.

Miyata joked that he will make sure that everyone knows he loves Hunter x Hunter by the time he graduates from Kis-My-Ft2 boy band. Morimoto told him "don't graduate just to get a shikishi" (LOL).

By the way, Miyata loves Kurapika, so I hope Togashi gives him a Kurapika shikishi one day :P

Here's Togashi's huge letter!

Before reading sensei's answers, they anticipated the huge success of the show, and came up with the hashtag #冨樫先生からのお手紙 (letter from Togashi-sensei).

It was a success indeed, trending all over social media.

Then, Morimoto started to read the Q&A.

The second question was about the Hunter x Hunter character setting. Before reading the answer, they showed a Togashi's memo containing a detailed timeline of each character that he uses in order to develop the story without creating any contradictions. There's a timeline of the Chimera Ant Arc, and a table of the princes' entourage, allowing Togashi to distinguish them. He even drew characters that didn't appear.

Miyata left his seat and came closer to the monitor, so he could see the memo better. He's a crazy HxH stan just like us.

This material is actually from Jump Ryu's booklet (2016). You can also watch the Jump Ryu video with subs on YouTube, where Togashi explains better how this character table works.

Here's the part of the answer Togashi talks about Killua's inspirations. I am a huge fan of MDP Psycho!

The author of "Toy-y", Atsushi Kamijo, thanked Togashi on his Twitter. He also wrote that he loves Level-E.

When answering question 4, we found out Togashi-sensei watched Sakurazaka46 New Year's special feature in 2021, when Seki-san asked for the complete set of Hunter × Hunter.

But, because Togashi-sensei is such an introvert, he thought he would make her feel uncomfortable by actually sending it. It took him two years to finally decide to send it.

Miyata laughed so hard, saying: "Togashi-sensei is such an otaku!!" (LOL)

Seki-san confirmed Togashi really sent the Hunter × Hunter set to her ^^

The 5th question was about Togashi's favorite nen ability. Seki-san and Miyata also shared their favorite type of nen.

Seki-san loves Killua, thus she likes transmutation. She also likes Hisoka's analysis about nen, and thinks Killua fits his description about transmuters perfectly.

As for Miyata, he loves Kurapika, therefore he likes the conjurer type. He remembered that in order to conjurer chains, Kurapika had to imagine, touch, draw, and even licked real chains.

He was curious if Goreinu, a character that appears in Greed Island, had to do something similar and touch gorillas in order to be able to materialize them.

Miyata is a crazy HxH fan, he came up with many curious tidbits and did a deep analysis of the series. It's not confirmed in the manga or any databook if Goreinu is really a conjurer, but I really liked his point of view.

Question 7 about Meruem's final moments was really touching. After hearing Miyata's explanation about Meruem and Kogumi, Iwakura almost started crying.

Tears rolled down her cheeks when she saw the double spread of Meruem's final moments.

The funny thing is, at the beginning of the show, she told us she had only read the first chapter.

So, Morimoto joked: "Why did you have to stop at volume 1!!?" XD

Morimoto also revealed that Togashi-sensei's favorite scene is Meruem and Kogumi double spread.

Question 8, what does Togashi do on his days off? Morimoto asked Seki-san's opinion. She imagines Togashi having mandarin oranges on a kotatsu table, and talking to cats on the porch.

T/N: Eating oranges while sitting around a kotatsu table is a japanese tradition during the winter.

Togashi didn't mention anything like that in his answer, but there's an interview with Naoko Takeuchi (WITH magazine, May 2022) where she says, "We have been married for over 20 years. Although we have small fights sometimes, my husband is extremely kind and quiet, like a hermit (...) The house we have lived for 20 years is also a place of healing. Sometimes we have meals or tea in the garden". So, I can totally picture Togashi-sensei eating oranges in the winter and talking to cats.

Togashi-sensei stated he is the type of person who always has sound playing while he is working, just like Yoshizumi-san. She was happy she was acknowledged in his letter!

The question 9 was about manga that Togashi-sensei found interesting recently. Miyata remembered that Togashi had wrote a recommendation on the obi of Kimestu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) volume 4, praising the series. I had completely forgotten Togashi loves Demon Slayer!

In his letter, Togashi-sensei wrote he couldn't give the name of the series he's currently into, since he would get criticized. But he left some clues. Yoshimizu said the crazy amount of ッッッ (small tsu) used in his answer was maybe a keyword, and that the fans would probably figure it out. She had no idea what manga he was talking about, though.

Togashi-sensei also wrote this manga is a true story published in 2023. So, many fans came up with the Autobiography of Keisuke Itagaki (author of Grappler Baki): an autobiographical manga depicting the harsh life experienced by Keisuke Itagaki in the "JGSDF 1st Airborne Brigade" that consumed his youth!

I started reading it, and the author really loves to use "ッッッ" at the end of the sentences. I don't think it's the kind of content I would recommend to an idol like Seki-san. Anyway, I don't know whether that's the correct answer or not, but it seems so.

The manga that Togashi-sensei ended up recommending was "Oi! Tombo". It has been serialized in Weekly Golf Digest since 2014. An anime is also scheduled to premiere in 2024. I was happy to see that the Golf Digest X Account mentioned his letter!

Seki-san was introduced to an unexpected golf manga, but she immediately became interested, saying, "I really want to read it'' and "I want to buy it right away.'' I guess we all felt that way. I'm definitely watching the anime!

The 10th question was about the ending! The reaction of the guests and MCs when Morimoto read there's an Ending D in case Togashi-sensei dies was priceless.

Before Morimoto could read the "Ending D", Miyata recalled he went to watch the Hunter × Hunter movie "Phantom Rouge", and received a copy of Volume 0. He grabbed it, and showed the Q&A with Togashi-sensei, highlighting Question 4: What will end up happening to Kurapika and the Phantom Troupe? A: "They will all die."

He was really looking forward to knowing the ending of Hunter × Hunter, but not this one (LOL). Morimoto and Miyata were too nervous, they took a sip to calm down before reading the "Ending D Pattern".

The final question was about the amount of text in volume 37. Miyata commenting that his answer also had an incredible amount of text made me laugh so hard. It was a huge answer indeed.

Togashi's last words were:

"Words are da best!" (Words rule/Nothing can beat words/Only words wins/ whatever sounds better in english).

Everyone laughed so hard, because this is actually a slang used by young people or fandom to say someone or something is the best. He wrote the letter in polite japanese, it was fun he ended it with a slang. By the way, Togashi-sensei loves slang, specially fandom unique vocabulary, as he usually uses it Hunter x Hunter. He's a fan of Keyakizaka46/Sakurazaka46 after all.

Miyata was excited to hear that Togashi-sensei himself is "bugged", which makes him want to continue reading HxH even more. One thing that caught Miyata's attention during this final question was the part Togashi-sensei mentioned he needs to settle many issues during the voyage of the Black Whale ship. Actually, the word "settlement" (解決) captured the attention of many fans, as they posted a lot about that on social media.

Miyata thought about people on board the ship whose fates needs a resolution. He wondered if this was about Kurapika and The Phantom Troupe since the conditions to what Togashi-sensei said in volume 0 (everyone's gonna die) are right there to happen soon.

He showed his Volume 0 again. LOL, I hope Togashi-sensei was just joking.

Of course, let's not forget that are many other unfinished business that needs a solution in this arc, we have a whole succession to the throne war in motion. But, Miyata was really hyped about Kurapika and volume 0.

The show ended with a big thanks and bow to Togashi-sensei!

Miyata said he has been reading HxH for more than 20 years, since he was in elementary school. No matter how old he is, he still gets excited about it! He loves Hunter × Hunter!

Morimoto asked Seki-san to say some final words to Togashi-sensei. Besides showing all her love for Hunter × Hunter, Seki-san was really cute and asked Togashi-sensei to take really good care of his health!

That's it, sorry for being like Togashi-sensei and writing too much. Although my posts are more about Yu Yu Haksuho, I feel I needed to address his letter too. I didn't take the Ending D too serious, since it was discarded. However, I think it was a cute closing to HxH. Like Miyata-said, everything went back to the beginning, The Whale Island where it all started.

I just want Togashi-sensei to live long and write his favorite ending!

a difference between the experience of reading the natsuyuu manga and watching the anime which is only interesting to me is that there's no distinction between special chapters and regular ones in the anime. the reason i find that interesting is that the specials are, so far in my reread, the only chapters that spend any time completely outside of natsume's POV. when we see other characters' perspectives in regular chapters, it's typically part of an extended monologue or a memory being transmitted to natsume, so we're still not really leaving his perspective. the only times we leave his POV are when he's physically not present in a scene, and in those instances we usually don't get any narration or interior monologue from the other characters.

tanuma in "a suspicious visitor" is the only exception i can think of off the top of my head, though i'm sure there are others i'll get to and just don't remember at the moment. the scene between matoba and ban at the end of the homura arc, for example, is outside of natsume's POV by necessity but is pure dialogue with no interior narration because these are not characters to whom we have that kind of access! (for more on matoba's elusive subjectivity see sp15, says tumblr user worldunbent.)

the special chapters jump all over the place; so far i've gotten to chapters from the perspectives of little fox, an unnamed youkai, nyanko, tanuma, and hinoe (although hinoe's chapter is framed as a story she's telling natsume, so it could have fit in a regular chapter). they have a separate numbering system from the regular chapters, are much shorter, and almost always come at the end of volumes*. in the anime, however, there's absolutely nothing to distinguish the episodes adapting the specials from the ones adapting regular chapters other than the POV shifts, which gives anime-only viewers a very different impression of how the series approaches character interiority. i don't think there's anything wrong with this as an adaptation move and it's pretty much necessary, but it's just notable because in a series that's all about how people see the world differently, the choice to make such a distinction between chapters in the protagonist's POV and chapters from everyone else's POV is a significant one.

the reason i'm paying so much attention to POVs in this reread in the first place is because i've been listening to the podcast media club plus and jack, who is pretty new to anime, keeps pointing out the constant perspective shifts in hunter x hunter and the other hosts are like, "yeah, that's normal." this post from another listener expands on how and why it works as a genre norm in shonen battle anime/manga specifically. so now i'm just cursed to be hyperaware of POV shifts in anime/manga, and given that the three series i'm reading/watching at the moment are hxh, dungeon meshi, and natsuyuu, natsuyuu really stands out in how rarely it leaves natsume's head in the regular chapters. i guess i need to go read some more shoujo for a larger sample size lol

*i have a chapter spreadsheet 🤓 and the exceptions to this are sp18, which is just stuck in the middle of v22, sp20, which is the second-to-last chapter of v24, and sp21, which is the first chapter of v25. i understand the placement of sp20, which is "intermission detectives" and makes sense to have as an break between regular chapters, but i'll have to figure out what sp18&21 are doing when i get to them.

#i think as i get to more plot-heavy arcs with more characters there will be some POV shifts within regular chapters #but either it hasn't happened yet in what i've reread or i haven't noticed lol #natsuyuu.txt #the conversation between ban and matoba is fun to me because it's one of those only times in a regular chapter #that the reader gets access to concrete information that natsume doesn't have #there are definitely other moments like this such as the locked room in the miharu arc #but that's more about characterization and vibes.#after 100 chapters midorikawa is finally like you can have some dramatic irony. as a treat.

(hxh) PHANTOM TROUPE // KURTA CLAN theory

...debunking PT did it

So let me preface this by saying this was 100% inspired by a tiktok comment in a hxh phantom troupe's religious symbolism video back in 2021 (:/). The person who commented made such an impact I screenshotted their comments which unfortunately are not in correct order and messaged them this year (i just know they think im weird) but they never responded. I'd give their @ but its their government name (I take it) so msg me for deets. All credit goes to them as I'm just polishing and tidying these thoughts.

First op talks about Meteor City, a junkyard city inhabited by outcasts. People who live there do not exist on any official records and are treated horribly from the outside, people are taken from Meteor City for crimes, prostitution, slavery and no one's doing a thing to stop it. People go outside and face racism, like the one guy accused of a crime he didnt commit and when the truth is shown no one does anything (think op meant The Bum Incident, vol 11, Chapter 102). These people get no justice, they're just used and this is where the duality of Chrollo comes in, he is a demon to the outside world because he is challenging the gods but also a Jesus figure for the underprivileged Meteor City. Even his reverse St Peters Cross on his jacket means that he feels unworthy to be crucified in the same manner as Jesus. Thats his way of saying he doesnt see himself as worthy of savior. His priority is the Troupe so they can together be seen to the outside world, they are literally a troupe of phantoms, trying to be recognized. This is why when he asks Neon if she believes in ghosts and she says no, she is the oppressor that doesn't understand the one hurt.

If you read the story with this idea in mind you start to observe that the Troupe only attacks people hazardous for the City (mafia, ants) or when they want revenge for one of them killed so its weird they are presented in a positive almost heroic light. Only exception that sticks out to the story? Kurta massacre.

The og commenter wondered why it was that the Troupe was always presented in a positive light. We've known the Phantom Troupe does acts of good alongside the bad but we also haven't seen anything entirely "evil" commited by any of them yet. Most of the legends surrounding them are hearsay. And though they could have easily killed Gon and Killua, they don't, twice. Also, Uvogin when taken by mafia/Kurapika says if freed, they wouldn't hurt them as they are not the target.

Op comments on how narrative should be filtered as its being commented via Gon- a non objective source, they claim that the 1st arc feels like a kid show whereas chimera arc feels dark, thats not to say it is actually like that but as Gon's perspective changes so does the narration. At first when innocent people die, he doesnt really care but in chimera we need a narrator to explain as Gon is too biased at that point. Regarding the massacre we only have Kurapika's word but what we are being told/shown about the Troupe is different. The characters talk about the Kurta massacre, how horrible and brutal it was but the narrative is keen and favors the Troupe, it paints them in a favorable light and why should the narrative do that, they don't become better people like the Ants after all.

From the moment they appear on screen, the narrative wants us to see them as underprivileged, both in York New and in the ship, even when they're fighting in Meteor City, they're fighting for injustice or when somebody hurts them. Then why justify their actions everytime they appear on screen if they massacred the Kurta Clan? If they are responsible for this why make them the underprivileged representation? Both Kurta and Troupe says the op are ostracized by the outside and seen less from people.

Say they did it. 3 ideas were proposed as to why.

1. for the eyes (Chrollo likes the eyes, like Hisoka said but Hisoka is a liar and also Chrollo has never shown interest in the show for them. For someone who steals things he likes, why make an exception and murder here?)

2. for money (that's not correct, we are told multiple times they don't care about it, neither money nor fame, they want to be recognized by the world but how would that work by killing a clan that's been hidden for 100 years, they dont get anything out of it.)

3. for revenge: Revenge for what? Kurta are a peaceful clan that hide for years. We know the Troupe left a note that is the motto of Meteor City (I'm adding here what op referred to: "we reject no one so take nothing from us"). Op says note means they serve justice to their city, when someone takes things away from them so what did Kurta take? From the thematic and narrative point they are not set up to have done it, op thinks thats 100% intentional.

Like said above, BOTH have the thematic of oppression from the outside world, they are a commodity for the rich and powerful (gods) but why is Phantom Troupe put in the light of both, the oppressor and the oppressed? Why would an oppressed group oppress another one for NO good reason? The Troupe doesn't kill innocent people if not necessary, they do NOT care about money or fame and the revenge aspect doesnt work because the Kurta were isolated from the outside.

If we look back at the York New Arc they never state the massacre, they simply suggest it and of course from a Kurapika POV they are guilty but if you look again you have to ask..are they really?

Hello everybody and welcome back to another hunter X hunter/hxh post… but it’s not just any post this is the Christmas Eve special tomorrow I will be doing the Christmas special!!!

I am a little disappointed that my post did not get that much recognition especially since I put in all the information to the Christmas special but it’s OK who knows it may get a good amount of likes today!

I will be making this in different parts like what they will be baking what they will be using for decorations/decor if they go all out just amazing things like that!

Food…

Feitan- he will be baking cookies but not just any kind of cookies just because it’s Christmas doesn’t mean there’s not gonna be a little bit of gore he’s going to make vampire cookies and cut off the head of the vampire and put red frosting to represent blood…

Phinks- he’s gonna make pasta and he is going to add edible stickers but they’re not just any kind of stickers he took a picture of his muscles and printed it out and somehow made it edible!!!

Nobunaga- he is going to bring cupcakes with pictures taped onto a toothpick of him and a sword they’re all mixed up cupcakes though so you either get the one with him or his sword

chrollo-he would bring A three layered cake that has all of the phantom troupe members on it along with all of their kids and at the top of the three layered cake it would be the spider tattoo that they have on them self

Hisoka- he is going to order like five party size pizzas but you best believe every single last slice is going to be eaten but of course it can’t just be all well for the phantom troupe he asked to play a little prank so he Bungee gums the pizza to the Pizza box and eventually they figured out because they could not get it off and they cut the box open and seen hisokas nen

illumi-he would bring goody bags and they would have a bunch of random stuff in it like mini cupcakes mini brownies, lollypops, stickers and so much more!

Unfortunately I am not going to be adding silva in this but I will be adding him in the Christmas special there are going to be a lot of twists in the Christmas special so be prepared because it’s not gonna be this many paragraphs it’s gonna be a whole story!

Decor/decorations

Feitan-honestly his house would probably look like it was still Halloween he would have a bunch of fake knives everywhere and vampire stickers on the wall but if he’s feeling a little festive that year he will get a Christmas tree and decorate it and that’s the most of the Christmas spirit that he is getting into

Phinks-he’s a family guy so he would have A nice tall Christmas tree with a bunch of ornaments and lights his house would be decorated with lights on the inside and on the outside!

Nobunaga-relatively the same as phinks except he wouldn’t be in the Christmas spirit that much and his house wouldn’t be that decorated on the inside just on the out so he can say that he did something lol

Chrollo-he would go to every single Christmas store and steal every single ornament that he likes along with a Christmas tree (he kind of sounds like the Grinch except he’s not stealing presents ngl😭) his house would be pretty festive but not too festive to the point where it’s colourful inside and outside there will be a lot of places in the house without colour such as the bathrooms the, bedrooms, hallways, things like that but the living room, will be festive and the dining room.

hisoka-bro this man is gonna on Christmas he’s going to have all of his friends there along with his kid and his kids friends but not like a party just a get together he’s gonna have so many decorations I swear you’re gonna go blind by how shiny they are the house is decorated on the inside and out everywhere is decorated the rooms, the bathroom, hallways, kitchen living room, dining room

Illumi-he is the one that is going to be throwing the Christmas party he is going to be hosting but it’s not going to be a get drunk and black out kind of party it’s going to be more of where your suit and a dress and there will be champagne and wine there there is going to be a massive very tall and very wide Christmas tree in the middle of the room decorated fully with lights and red and green ornaments for some reason he didn’t add white but nobody questioned it not to mention there would also be some relaxing Music and occasionally romantic music lol overall though it would be a very subtle party and very fun and there would be a lot to do for the kids they could draw play outside literally do whatever they want as long as they’re still on the mountain!

This is the end of this Christmas Eve special everybody!!! I hope everybody enjoyed if you thought this was good wait until you see the Christmas special…!

I will try my best to post as much as possible but I’m not sure what plans I have for Christmas and if I’m going with family then it will take me about four hours to get there not to mention I have a snowstorm where I live like a very bad snowstorm so that will obviously add on more time so I’m trying to post as much as possible right now and get all of my thoughts down

I can’t wait for the Christmas special again I hope everybody enjoyed and thank you for all the love and support bye now!

Safe place | Yandere Shalnark returning home after the death of his friends

Summary: Shalnark is tired after everything that happened in Yorkshin and just wants to be in your arms

Pairing: Shalnark X GN.Reader

Warnings: Kidnapped reader, mention of canonical character death in HxH (Possible spoiler), Slight change in the chronology and original story in HxH

Author’s note: I always mention it in all my writings in English, but better safe than sorry, English is not my native language so it is very likely to find many mistakes and also that I know practically nothing about writing “X character and Y / n”

It was late at night when you were resting, out of nowhere you got up, you took it as a bad omen instantly but you tried not to think about it, you just went to the bathroom and got a glass of water from the kitchen before going back to bed.

Shalnark had been gone for a week, you hated to admit it, but you even missed him, maybe because you hadn't spoken to a human being in a week, but you enjoyed that he wasn't harassing you as usual.

Just as you were beginning to fall asleep again, the bedroom door opened, however, it took at least a minute until footsteps were heard inside the room, shortly after you felt Shalnark's weight on the bed, his body for the first time shook. felt cold.

You were turning your back on him, you couldn't see him, but there was another type of atmosphere, one that you had never experienced with him, however, you didn't say anything, until you felt how his arms were around your waist and you were attached to him, supporting his chin in the crook of your neck.

"Shalnark, I'm not in the mood right now" You said with an annoyed tone, trying to get out of his arms.

"If you want, we can fight in the morning, please, not now" Shalnark said, hugging you tighter.

You froze at the moment you heard him, in the first place, you didn't remember that Shalnark had ever said "please" to you in a genuine way, much less had you heard that tone of voice, was it... Sadness?

"Shalnark?" You called him worried

He didn't answer, he was quiet, you just felt his breath on your neck, it was slow and tired in a certain way.

"Shalnark" You called him again

Again silence to your call.

Shalnark left your neck and hid in your nape, you felt strange, you had never experienced this with him.

You didn't want to turn around, it wasn't that Shalnark was scaring you right now, but it was something new and you didn't know how to react.

"Y/n" Shalnark called to you in a whisper

Before you could answer, you felt some moisture begin to form on the back of your neck, perhaps... Is he crying?

"Y/n?" He called you again

"I'm here, what happened?" You asked in an expressionless tone.

"Look at me, please"

"Since when do you ask me for things?" You asked with the same tone of voice

"Don't make me beg" He told you, hugging you tighter

You were silent, you're upset, but not with him this time, you're upset with you, it disgusted you to feel sorry for him, you felt sorry for someone despicable like Shalnark, you felt sorry for the man who kidnapped you, he took away your freedom, your dignity and several other things without any kind of contemplation.

"You've never begged me for anything, what's wrong with you?"

"I'm tired, please..."

You turned annoyed when you heard it, but you didn't look at it, you just started screaming.

"Tired of? You're not like that, you don't ask for things, you don't feel empathy for anyone, you're a monster that forces me to be with him, why would I have to do you some kind of favor!?"

You let out all your annoyance by saying that, you didn't even know where so much anger came from, and it was the first time you told him what you thought out loud.

You opened your eyes to see him, expecting some kind of typical reaction from him, but... He was still, motionless, just looking at you in silence with blurred eyes and an expression of sadness.

You were stunned to see him, the one who was next to you on the bed wasn't Shalnark, it couldn't be him.

"You finished?" He asked you in a soft tone.

You didn't answer him, your head was processing Shalnark's state and while it was happening he pulled you, hugging your chest and wrapping his arms around your waist.

"You always make everything difficult, how annoying you are" He blurted out, resting his ear on your chest.

You looked at him surprised, you didn't understand what was happening, you didn't touch him, you just stayed there.

"What happened?" You dared to ask him

"They are no longer..." Shalnark answered with a tired voice.

"Who?"

"Uvo and Paku"

You remembered them, once they came to see Shalnark, but you ignored them, from what he told you, they were friends for years, members of the Gen'ei Ryodan too.

But you didn't ask him more, you understood what he meant, but you didn't touch him, you just looked at him in silence, you wanted to enjoy seeing him sad, but, you couldn't.

"You will not say anything?" Shalnark asked, hugging your waist.

"I have nothing to say to you"

"Do you enjoy seeing me like this?"

"No, I'm not like you, I don't delight in other people's pain"

Shalnark was silent, he just continued hugging you, he wanted to calm down, even if you didn't comfort him, your mere presence managed to clear his mind of the pain of losing his friends, after all, even against your will, for him you were his girlfriend , your duty was to be there.

When he listen your heart he felt calm, now he beat calmly, his body relaxed when he felt your warmth and your smell, he loved you so much no matter what.

He was like a child when it came to you, you were his safe place, even if you hated and despised him, he loved you, he loved your mere existence near him.

For you, he was also like a child too, omitting the long list of crimes, many times, he just wanted your attention, he loved being on top of you, kissing you, hugging you and keeping you only for him, you knew you were precious to him.

But now, he was not the capricious and selfish child that always hovered around you, now he was a child in search of comfort.

You just sighed before wrapping your arms around him, pulling him to your chest.

"I'm here" you said with a calming tone.

You weren't like him, that's why you do that, you weren't a monster. You felt sorry, just that.

Shalnark only held you closer, relaxed in your arms, he loved you, he loved you so much now, it didn't matter if your comfort was a lie, he loved you so much more now, he was sure now that he would never let you go from his side.

You were born for him, you existed to belong to him, your body, your soul, your life, all of that was his and as long as he lived he wouldn't let anyone else have you.

"Shalnark?" You called him

He didn't answer you, when you saw him, he was fast asleep, with a smile on his lips and the trace of a couple of tears in his eyes. He was clinging to you, like a child to his stuffed animal and like so many times, you knew he wouldn't let you go until he woke up.

You sighed before calmly caressing his hair and resting your head on his, falling asleep little by little, although, for the first time, you didn't feel like you were sleeping with your enemy, you felt like you were sleeping with someone you wanted to take care of, no matter how inexplicable it was, at least seeing him vulnerable made you hate him a little less.

How it started:

I started writing when I was 10, One direction had just debuted and I was in love. They’re how I discovered fanfiction. I never actually wrote for them myself, seeing no shortage of content for members x reader, or members x members, so I looked elsewhere. I started to get into Viners, YouTubers, and Magcon boys and I started writing for them instead. People loved it, I made au gif sets, and I honestly loved the interactions with the fics and between I and my readers. I would write day and night, hurting my shoulders, changing positions, at school thinking of writing, scribbling ideas down here and there. I abandoned that blog for another and that for another and that one to stop writing all together. I think we know how romantic this man is. But since I am the writer, I will go further in depth for you. He loves romantic dinners, wine, late night, all that. Going out at night in the rain just to watch it. He would buy you roses and dancing in the kitchen with you. overall, he shows his love VERY romantically and loves you so so much. Even if it's cliche, it makes you overjoyed

E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

I would say he is more dominant because he is very protective over you. He literally runs the phantom troupe, so he definitely takes the lead as the dominant one always wanting to protect you and be the one you can look up to

A ctivities - What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?

Dancing in the rain, sitting by the fireplace and reading, walking late at night, getting dinner, cooking for you, laying in bed with you to just listen to the rain, talking to you until 3 in the morning, reading the bible to you if you want to hear the stories and his takes on them. As you can see, Tonberry has thought about this a lot... :) But overall, he just wants to be by you and doing romantic activities. Just spending time with you is enough <3

D reams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?

He wants a peaceful future with you. He wants to have a future without killing and having to run and be afraid. He wants a small home with just you and him and wants to know that the rest of his spiders are okay and safe. He wants a future where he doesnt want to worry about anything but what he is going to be doing for the day. He wants a future where you are by his side and you are both smiling. He just wants you both to be happy and safe <3

You were able to convince Chrollo to take life slow. He was always having to rush in life and worry about everything, but you let him slow down and relax. He was also finally able to do all of the romantic things he wished of doing with someone and that made him very happy. You also are very willing to listen to his past trauma and he will listen to yours, so you both have overcome a lot talking to each other like that

G ratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?

He is VERY grateful for you. Friends mean everything to him and become family, as we've seen his relationship with the troupe. When you entered his life, you changed something more in him and made him feel loved all over again. He never felt alone, but when he met you, he felt like there was an empty pit inside of him that filled. For that, he is forever grateful and happier than anyone with all that you have done for him <3333

Anon! Sorry for the late reply. I had to think about it for some time, but I also feel like there is no way to answer this question in a definitive 100% conclusive way; there will always be some exceptions when the trope that we hate somehow still works okay, or when our favourite tropes don’t do the story justice at all. So this is more of a list of first things that come to mind! Mostly because these are the tropes we discuss the most.

We really tend to not like a lot of family-related tropes, especially when characters settle down and start a family and start living a slow domestic life and stuff, and when it’s painted as an endpoint or a happy ending of sorts. This is why we don’t really like talking about characters having kids or headcanon OC kids for our ships, the idea just doesn’t have the appeal to us. Maybe it’s because we don’t want children ourselves so it doesn’t click with us/we don’t get it; maybe it’s just because of how overwhelmingly popular this trope is, and how a lot of times it tends to make characters lose their unique characteristics and boil them down to just being a mom and/or a dad. Even if it’s not fanfiction but an original piece, we don’t really resonate with stories like that. Hmm, I guess it’s mostly about the nuclear families though, because I personally would find a story about a broken household more interesting. But if it’s just a “he is a papa, he is another papa, and here is their sunshine baby” is just boring to us personally… Where are my stories about characters going through divorce and fighting over their children? lol

Same goes for anything pregnancy related. We really don’t resonate with tropes that are related to pregnancy, the only possible exception being some horror stories.

Our favourite tropes… we love a despair-filled story! A tragedy, I guess. “Yes, everything is that bad; no, there is nothing you can realistically do to fix it” type of story, maybe a good example would be Shingeki no Kyojin.

When a super powerful being is somehow linked to one person and doesn’t stop being a super powerful being and doesn’t develop empathy or humanity! I don’t know how to explain it lol We love it when someone super powerful and inhuman favours a character, either due to having plans for this character or due to its selfish obsession, but it doesn’t go the typical route of “and then the demon learned how to care and love someone”. Like, the obsession is still there, but the creature doesn’t experience it in the same way that humans do, even if it looks like it, there is still this creepy gap that could never be closed. Whenever this gap closes and the creature starts feeling love, it turns into the trope that we really don’t like lol

Somehow related to this, but not really? I’ve said it multiple times, but: character A loves character B so much that they are willing to do horrible things for them (things that character B never asked for). We also love selflessly loyal type, sadodere or yangire boys, anything that makes characters’ relationship with each other almost cartoonishly exaggerated and extreme. I hope it makes sense.

Also! A character is bored and does whatever they want in the story, dancing to the beat of their own drums. Like chaotic neutral, but without any common sense? Hisoka from HxH or the Tweels would be good examples. You never know whether they are an ally or a foe because you can never guess what exactly they’re thinking about.

I can talk about it for ages, but these are the tropes that come to mind first!

To be completely honest with you, we don’t have a lot of people who we follow on bsky; well, we do have a lot of our favourite jp artists who made an account there when it became publically available, but a lot of them don’t post there regularly and prefer to still use twi.
