Been seeing this sentiment around a few times and wow can’t relate. It sounds very wise and sophisticated but to me it so dramatically limits the scope of both fanfiction and original fiction! (I may be closer to the “all literature is fanfiction” end of the opinion spectrum than I realized hm.)
